Speaker 1: Like it or not, next year's big dance and politics
• 0:03
Speaker 1: will ultimately be decided by the few, not the many.
• 0:06
Speaker 1: Most MMP elections have been the minnows hold the keys
• 0:09
Speaker 1: to the kingdom. Be it Winston with what will it
• 0:11
Speaker 1: be as best result ever potentially or to party Maldi
• 0:14
Speaker 1: with the overhand. Getting the left in twenty twenty six
• 0:17
Speaker 1: won't be a twenty twenty landslide. The difference this time
• 0:22
Speaker 1: is how extreme some of those smaller parties, or more
• 0:25
Speaker 1: to the point, some of their MPs have become. Think
• 0:27
Speaker 1: Takuta on Indians, think Simon Court on Palestine. It's not
• 0:32
Speaker 1: just rhetoric though, but policy too. A separate Maldi parliament,
• 0:36
Speaker 1: renationalizing power companies, says Uncle Shane, you name it, they'll
• 0:40
Speaker 1: go there. The temptation for the behemoths, the broad churches,

Speaker 1: the big lots is to emulate what's getting traction, To
• 0:48
Speaker 1: dip your toe in the pool of radical ideas, to
• 0:52
Speaker 1: be establishment without looking or sounding like it. Trump and

Speaker 1: the Maga movement are the best example of doing this.

Speaker 1: was a linebacker are being absolutely whipped in the polls
• 1:06
Speaker 1: by newer upstarts with one thing on their pledged cards,
• 1:09
Speaker 1: radical change. The Conservatives have been around for two hundred years,
• 1:14
Speaker 1: reform UK six. The big issues, of course do differ
• 1:18
Speaker 1: our cost of living malaise as their immigration. So the
• 1:22
Speaker 1: temptation must be to embrace a bit of that radical spirit,
• 1:25
Speaker 1: and Labour might just do that. Yet we just don't
• 1:28
Speaker 1: know what they're cooking up behind the scenes. My prediction, though,
• 1:32
Speaker 1: establishment parties will do what establishment parties do, stick to
• 1:36
Speaker 1: the script, copy paste the policies, hug the center like
• 1:40
Speaker 1: a koala to a tree, and I hope their buddies
• 1:42
Speaker 1: grab enough from the fraying edges to get them across
• 1:45
Speaker 1: the line. Their bet is that crises come and go,
• 1:49
Speaker 1: but established parties don't, even though the Brits and the
• 1:54
Speaker 1: Americans show us they can and do. For more from
