- 0:02Speaker 1: All right, here we go. Post game show foul territory
- 0:06Speaker 1: after ALC, game ALCS, easy for me to say. Game six, Aircrats,
- 0:11Speaker 1: Todd Frazier, Champa Bay wins it. We're gonna get deep,
- 0:15Speaker 1: deep into it here, guys. So it's time for full
- 0:17Speaker 1: count by Marathon. It's a full count. By the way,
- 0:28Speaker 1: we need the eagle in that car with us. The
- 0:29Speaker 1: eagle that the marathon mascot, I don't know if you
- 0:31Speaker 1: guys have seen those commercials, but you're the, we need,
- 0:34Speaker 1: we need the eagle in the car, like driving the cars. Word,
- 0:38Speaker 1: word nerd, bird nerd. Yeah. That's Scott. Scott's not here
- 0:42Speaker 1: because he's flying the eagle right now. So, uh, so
- 0:46Speaker 1: first of all, congratulations to, uh, Tampa Bay or as
- 0:50Speaker 1: they call it in Tampa Bay, Champa Bay. American League
- 0:53Speaker 1: champions for the first time since 2020. Do we count
- 0:57Speaker 1: that as the American League champions with only 60 games scheduled?
- 1:01Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree.
- 1:03Speaker 2: For sure.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Okay. Just a quick question. And now someone's going to
- 1:07Speaker 1: win a World Series for the first time. Obviously, Tampa
- 1:10Speaker 1: or Milwaukee Brewers. But let's talk about this game. Cleveland
- 1:14Speaker 1: went with the opener to start, right?
- 1:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:16Speaker 1: They went with the opener. Armstrong was fine. And then
- 1:20Speaker 1: it got a little funky after that. They had to
- 1:21Speaker 1: bring in Heron. He didn't pitch well. Festa struggled a
- 1:24Speaker 1: little bit. Joey Cantillo struggled with his control. Kate Smith
- 1:28Speaker 1: we saw. Did the pitching plan for Cleveland just blow
- 1:32Speaker 1: up in their face?
- 1:34Speaker 2: Tonight?
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 2: No. No.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I think it came to a head tonight. You had
- 1:40Speaker 3: to pay the piper at some point. You had to
- 1:43Speaker 3: figure out how to get innings. You had to figure
- 1:46Speaker 3: out how to win two games. Obviously, the Guardians... Didn't
- 1:49Speaker 3: win any of the last three games. They never even
- 1:51Speaker 3: got to game seven. But I think some of the
- 1:54Speaker 3: moves tonight should have happened last night. And we said
- 1:59Speaker 3: that on the show. We said that. And it's a
- 2:02Speaker 3: tough spot to be in with no off days, no
- 2:05Speaker 3: starting pitching in their minds. We'll get into it a
- 2:08Speaker 3: little bit later. But it is definitely, yeah, I mean,
- 2:11Speaker 3: it caught up to them tonight.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, listen, this is a Guardians team that
- 2:18Speaker 2: was really good. They seemed like second half of the year.
- 2:20Speaker 2: This team always came on strong. It was part of
- 2:23Speaker 2: their method of weighing and going about things. They started
- 2:26Speaker 2: off slow, coming on strong. But they needed to come
- 2:29Speaker 2: on strong in this series right off the bat. And
- 2:32Speaker 2: I think ultimately it came down to plays. And I
- 2:37Speaker 2: think Tampa found a way to make the best plays.
- 2:39Speaker 2: I think the pitching for the Guardians, for the most part,
- 2:42Speaker 2: was pretty good. I think... the Guardians didn't hit that well.
- 2:48Speaker 2: You think, where were the big guys? I mean, Chase
- 2:50Speaker 2: DeLauder came. Watching him was fantastic. His swing looked like
- 2:54Speaker 2: a young Jay Bruce. I kept thinking about it. I
- 2:57Speaker 2: was trying to figure out what kind of swing he
- 2:58Speaker 2: had there. A little bit of Jay Bruce action. Yeah,
- 3:00Speaker 2: a little bit of Jay Bruce action. And, you know, ultimately,
- 3:05Speaker 2: they got the hits at the wrong time today. It
- 3:07Speaker 2: seemed like whenever they had somebody on, they needed to
- 3:09Speaker 2: get some hits. But it seemed like Tampa– turned it around,
- 3:12Speaker 2: and when they needed it, they found a way to
- 3:14Speaker 2: do it, and they put up a lot more runs
- 3:15Speaker 2: than the Guardians did.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I think here's the thing. I think
- 3:19Speaker 1: some of the guys for the Guardians are tired. We
- 3:21Speaker 1: talked about it a little bit earlier today when we
- 3:24Speaker 1: did the regular Foul Territory show is Kate Smith looked human.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I mean, I know that ball Cam Nero hit, but
- 3:31Speaker 1: there was a lot of guys who had pitched a
- 3:32Speaker 1: lot of innings. Gattis, they had seen Gattis now four times, right,
- 3:35Speaker 1: four or five times. They'd seen Kate Smith four or
- 3:37Speaker 1: five times. They'd seen Heron four or five times. They
- 3:40Speaker 1: saw Zabrowski four or five times. They'd seen a lot
- 3:42Speaker 1: of these guys over and over, and at some point,
- 3:44Speaker 1: we're human. You've got to get tired. Shout-out Richie Palacios,
- 3:48Speaker 1: a huge series also. Got that hit in the second inning,
- 3:53Speaker 1: kind of off the end of the bat off Heron,
- 3:55Speaker 1: but that was a knock that got him going. Let's
- 3:58Speaker 1: talk Freddy Peralta here for a second, Todd. Freddy Peralta, again,
- 4:01Speaker 1: goes out, pitches really well. Not the strikeouts that we
- 4:05Speaker 1: normally see from Freddy, but he just pitched in and
- 4:09Speaker 1: out of trouble, right? So he's in and out of trouble.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Used his changeup, used his fastball, just good enough, right, Todd,
- 4:15Speaker 1: for Freddie?
- 4:16Speaker 2: Confident. I mean, this is a whole different ballgame for him.
- 4:19Speaker 2: This is the Milwaukee Freddie that I remember. The dude
- 4:23Speaker 2: looks confident. He looks under control. He's poised, and he's
- 4:26Speaker 2: not afraid of the moment, it looks like. I mean, listen,
- 4:30Speaker 2: this is their number two. This is their dog that
- 4:32Speaker 2: they're going to need to throw two if not come
- 4:34Speaker 2: in for three games in the World Series. I love
- 4:37Speaker 2: this guy. I love the way he's been pitching. Everybody
- 4:40Speaker 2: kind of counted him out there with New York. And
- 4:42Speaker 2: now all of a sudden, he's established that changeup again.
- 4:45Speaker 2: And the dude, he's going to give you five innings
- 4:47Speaker 2: every time, no matter what it seems like. So this
- 4:50Speaker 2: is a monster pickup by them. And watching him throw, yeah,
- 4:54Speaker 2: it's bringing back some good memories of him being really,
- 4:57Speaker 2: really good.
- 4:57Speaker 1: All right.
- 4:59Speaker 3: So he got picked up by the Rays, threw against
- 5:03Speaker 3: the Rockies in Colorado. Then he threw in Sacramento. Then
- 5:10Speaker 3: he went home and they lost two games to Baltimore.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Back-to-back starts, which is always kind of wonky when you're
- 5:17Speaker 3: talking about a pitcher throwing back-to-back into division starts. And
- 5:22Speaker 3: since then, he's made 10 starts and his team is 10-0.
- 5:27Speaker 3: He has given up in those starts. He has given
- 5:31Speaker 3: up no more than one run in any game.
- 5:38Speaker 1: One run.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Like, this guy has become the guy the Mets thought
- 5:43Speaker 3: they were getting and back to the guy that the
- 5:46Speaker 3: Brewers had and got rid of and have since moved
- 5:50Speaker 3: on and haven't missed a beat. So, Freddie P to
- 5:54Speaker 3: come up huge. Come up huge to avoid any doubt
- 5:58Speaker 3: that you have to go into Game 7 and face
- 6:00Speaker 3: Gavin Williams.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Dondi Diaz backed up his... Guarantee, which I thought
- 6:07Speaker 1: was awesome. But his compadre, Junior Caminero, he finally got
- 6:15Speaker 1: the big hit. And we had been waiting for this
- 6:17Speaker 1: and waiting for this and waiting for this. 39 seconds
- 6:21Speaker 1: for him to go around the bases. Is that what
- 6:24Speaker 1: it was? He stopped. He celebrated.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I loved it.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I loved it. I think it's awesome. I think it's
- 6:30Speaker 1: unbelievable how much fun this dude has when he hits
- 6:33Speaker 1: home runs. You hit a home run in a big situation, celebrate. Okay,
- 6:37Speaker 1: but Junior Caminero, Kratzy, 39 seconds to go around the bases.
- 6:43Speaker 3: He hit it, and I was like, if that stays,
- 6:45Speaker 3: I was watching it with my son who's home from college,
- 6:47Speaker 3: and I said, if that stays fair, wait till you
- 6:50Speaker 3: see this skit.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And it wasn't a skit. It was an entire play around.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Culminated, culminated, not even talking about the handshakes and everything,
- 6:58Speaker 3: culminated by a Randy Rosarena to a Randy Rosarena who
- 7:03Speaker 3: was sitting behind home plate. right before he touched his
- 7:06Speaker 3: home plate. It was like watching MLB The Show. But,
- 7:09Speaker 3: I mean, good for him. It was an add-on homer.
- 7:13Speaker 3: It was against a guy who, like, they've brought in
- 7:17Speaker 3: the best pitchers to face the heart of this order.
- 7:22Speaker 3: And each of those three guys, Yandy, Aranda, and Caminero,
- 7:27Speaker 3: had to make adjustments to figure out how to get
- 7:30Speaker 3: the job done. And so good for Caminero for somehow
- 7:33Speaker 3: keeping a splitter that was like an inch above his label,
- 7:37Speaker 3: fair for a homer.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Listen, I think it first started that first at-bat that
- 7:44Speaker 2: he had, that little dinker in the center field. You
- 7:47Speaker 2: see the smile on his face when he got to first.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Don't let this guy get hot. I mean, listen, it's
- 7:52Speaker 2: a perfect timing for him, perfect example of not worrying
- 7:56Speaker 2: about what you did in the past. He had a
- 7:58Speaker 2: four-strikeout game one time, and now this is that dog
- 8:03Speaker 2: that is getting hot at the right time going in
- 8:05Speaker 2: against a really hot Brewer team. They're going to need
- 8:08Speaker 2: him to do that a lot more against a really
- 8:10Speaker 2: good squad in this World Series. And then Yandy Diaz
- 8:14Speaker 2: doing what he does best. Aranda, I need him to
- 8:17Speaker 2: get going a little bit more. I know he was
- 8:18Speaker 2: batting 290 at one point. He's doing okay, but it
- 8:21Speaker 2: just seems like every time he gets out, it's like
- 8:23Speaker 2: the end of the world. So those top three crazed dogs,
- 8:27Speaker 2: if they keep going, they keep hunting, watch out. It's
- 8:30Speaker 2: going to be a nice series moving forward.
- 8:32Speaker 4: It is.
- 8:33Speaker 1: It's going to be a great World Series. By the way,
- 8:35Speaker 1: Freddie Peralta just named ALCS MVP 2-0 1ERA. And now
- 8:40Speaker 1: Freddie P gets to go back and probably pitch in Milwaukee. Kratzy,
- 8:44Speaker 1: you played in Milwaukee. What kind of ovation does Freddie get?
- 8:48Speaker 1: Because he didn't want to leave. I know this. When
- 8:51Speaker 1: I went, I was traded away from Minnesota. I went
- 8:53Speaker 1: back and played in Minnesota, and they booed the crap
- 8:56Speaker 1: out of me. Are they going to boo Freddie Peralta?
- 8:59Speaker 1: I didn't want to leave Minnesota. I got traded. So
- 9:02Speaker 1: are they going to boo Freddie? Is he going to
- 9:03Speaker 1: get a standing ovation? Do they do the montage on
- 9:06Speaker 1: the big screen? Like when Todd went back to Cincinnati?
- 9:09Speaker 1: I mean, how does this go, Kratzy?
- 9:11Speaker 3: No montage, but I promise if you see Freddie P
- 9:15Speaker 3: smile one time, Brewer fans are going to melt and
- 9:19Speaker 3: they're going to cheer.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Like right now the picture is on the screen. I
- 9:22Speaker 3: remember Freddie P as a rookie in 2018 when we
- 9:26Speaker 3: played together and I He was a frequent on our show.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I saw him earlier this year randomly when we were
- 9:34Speaker 3: in Philly. There's no way you can boo Freddie P.
- 9:40Speaker 3: I can't see him booing Freddie P, but I also
- 9:44Speaker 3: can't see Freddie P not going out and continuing to
- 9:48Speaker 3: do what he's done because to pick up at the
- 9:51Speaker 3: trade deadline, Next August 2nd or whenever the Monday is
- 9:55Speaker 3: after the third full moon of the summer solstice, whenever
- 9:58Speaker 3: they decide the trade. deadline is, think about this. The
- 10:04Speaker 3: Tampa Bay Rays are now going to the American League
- 10:07Speaker 3: Championship and the American League Championship Series MVP is the
- 10:12Speaker 3: guy you picked up at the trade deadline. I'm not
- 10:15Speaker 3: saying teams should say, we're not making any moves, we're
- 10:17Speaker 3: going to wait until the trade deadline. But if you
- 10:19Speaker 3: sit there and you go, I think.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Our team's pretty good. We're totally fine. We're not going
- 10:24Speaker 1: to do anything.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Look at what the two teams that are left have
- 10:29Speaker 3: done at the trade deadline. Look at what the Tampa
- 10:33Speaker 3: Bay Rays had in their pitching. What are the Tampa
- 10:36Speaker 3: Bay Rays.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Really good at?
- 10:37Speaker 3: They are really good at producing pitching, starting pitching, bullpen, whatever.
- 10:42Speaker 3: They didn't know Shane McClanahan was going to be hurt.
- 10:44Speaker 3: They thought he'd be a guy for them. They went
- 10:47Speaker 3: out and got Freddie Pee. Gee, how did that work out?
- 10:51Speaker 2: It worked out well. Well, there's one Freddie that got
- 10:53Speaker 2: booed in the playoffs here, and that was Freddie Freeman.
- 10:57Speaker 2: I remember we talked about that whole thing. Should he
- 10:59Speaker 2: get booed or not? Listen, dude, during the regular season,
- 11:02Speaker 2: praise him all you want, but this is playoff time.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Get on him. I think the Milwaukee fans are going
- 11:08Speaker 2: to be on him the whole time once he gets
- 11:10Speaker 2: out there. It's all about winning this World Series. This
- 11:13Speaker 2: is World Series and nothing for both these teams, so
- 11:15Speaker 2: you got to try every different angle. I think the Brewers...
- 11:18Speaker 2: will get after him and be on top of him
- 11:21Speaker 2: so they can find a way, any way to get
- 11:22Speaker 2: a little head start to trying to win that game.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Yeah, they're going to, I mean, they'll cheer him at
- 11:28Speaker 1: the beginning, kind of like, but if he goes out
- 11:30Speaker 1: and just starts punching everybody out, they're not going to
- 11:32Speaker 1: like Freddie. He can smile all he wants as he's
- 11:35Speaker 1: walking off the mound, but if he's dealing, they're not
- 11:38Speaker 1: going to like him. By the way, great pitching matchup.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Game one, more than likely, Rasmussen versus Mizorowski. Two studs.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Miz is going to win the Cy Young National League.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Rasmussen's going to finish in the top five. I feel
- 11:51Speaker 1: like that's going to be a great matchup. Game two,
- 11:54Speaker 1: Henderson versus Freddy Peralta. And then we're going to get
- 11:57Speaker 1: Gasser probably against Jax and or Nick Martinez in the trop.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I mean, there's some good pitching matchups here. And then
- 12:07Speaker 1: the bullpens, both bullpens are stacked. Both bullpens will be rested.
- 12:12Speaker 1: I know that this is going to be you know,
- 12:15Speaker 1: people are going to say, oh, it's two small market teams.
- 12:17Speaker 1: But these were the best two regular season teams in baseball.
- 12:20Speaker 1: And they're the best two teams in the playoffs. And
- 12:22Speaker 1: I think this is going to be an unbelievably good
- 12:24Speaker 1: World Series. Your guys' thoughts, Todd?
- 12:27Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I think it's going to be a fantastic
- 12:29Speaker 2: World Series. And I think we are in for a battle. And,
- 12:35Speaker 2: you know, Milwaukee's been hanging out for a little bit,
- 12:38Speaker 2: but they've done that before. And I think, you know,
- 12:40Speaker 2: they're playing at home. And I think the excitement is
- 12:42Speaker 2: just going to build up. These teams, are really good,
- 12:46Speaker 2: and I know who Kratzy's rooting for, but I don't
- 12:49Speaker 2: know who you and I are going to root for yet,
- 12:51Speaker 2: but it's going to be a great series with a
- 12:54Speaker 2: bunch of great ballplayers that a lot of guys haven't
- 12:58Speaker 2: heard of yet, or household names, excuse me, that they
- 13:02Speaker 2: will become.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Two best teams. Two best teams in American League and
- 13:06Speaker 1: National League. Made it through. That's it. Like, it means.
- 13:11Speaker 3: it means that it does matter what happens in the
- 13:14Speaker 3: regular season.
- 13:15Speaker 1: It does.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Matriculate through to the playoffs. It does show you that,
- 13:21Speaker 3: you know what, you build this team for one 62.
- 13:23Speaker 3: You can also build it for the playoffs. And I
- 13:28Speaker 3: think both these teams dominated their way to the world series.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Agreed. Agreed. Both great teams, by the way, uh, Full
- 13:39Speaker 1: count was fueled by Marathon, where fun runs on full.

- 13:55Speaker 1: to subscribe here. You making the eagle call. I don't
- 13:57Speaker 1: know if that's going to help or hurt, but please

- 14:03Speaker 1: single day. Live shows Monday to Friday from 1 to
- 14:05Speaker 1: 3 Eastern. Plus post-game shows like this one. That's what
- 14:17Speaker 1: he said. All right, that's what he said. Presented by Lorainco.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I mean, we're just going to start with Yandy Diaz.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Steven Voter, we're going to listen to Steven Voter, what
- 14:27Speaker 1: he had to say about Yandy Diaz, and then we're
- 14:29Speaker 1: going to react because I think it's hilarious what he said.
- 14:33Speaker 4: Steven, what was your reaction to Yandy Diaz's comments last night?
- 14:38Speaker 2: I didn't see them.
- 14:39Speaker 4: About being motivated and saying it's going to end tomorrow.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Is that.
- 14:43Speaker 4: give the old cliche of sports bulletin board material for
- 14:46Speaker 4: you guys?
- 14:47Speaker 2: He did that? He said that? I literally have no
- 14:49Speaker 2: idea what you're talking about. Yeah, more or less. He's like,
- 14:52Speaker 2: it's going to end tomorrow.
- 14:53Speaker 1: We're going to win tomorrow.
- 14:54Speaker 2: I'm paraphrasing it. I'm sure our guys saw it and
- 14:57Speaker 2: they know about it.
- 14:59Speaker 4: When an opposing player does that in this day and age,
- 15:01Speaker 4: does it still resonate as a bulletin board material type
- 15:04Speaker 4: of thing for you guys? Or is that kind of
- 15:06Speaker 4: blown out of proportion in this day and age in sports?
- 15:07Speaker 2: Probably somewhere in the middle of that.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Again, You know, the thing I love about our guys,
- 15:12Speaker 1: we worry about us.
- 15:13Speaker 2: We focus on us.
- 15:14Speaker 1: And if that gives our guys a little more motivation, great. Well,
- 15:19Speaker 1: he was right. Yondi was right. And Steven Vogt, I'm
- 15:22Speaker 1: going to go to crowds because you know Steven Vogt well.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Did you guys play together?
- 15:27Speaker 2: We did.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Okay. So you guys were teammates. There's no way in
- 15:30Speaker 1: today's world he didn't hear about it. I love that
- 15:32Speaker 1: he's like, oh, we worry about ourselves. There's no way
- 15:36Speaker 1: that somebody, either Twitter, he has young kids, his family,
- 15:42Speaker 1: he read the newspaper, someone from the Guardians, somebody said
- 15:47Speaker 1: something to him, or he turned on MLB Network, ESPN,
- 15:51Speaker 1: Foul Territory, whatever platform he wanted to tune into at
- 15:56Speaker 1: some point, he had to have heard those comments. So
- 15:59Speaker 1: I love that he said that, but I also think
- 16:00Speaker 1: it's kind of funny.
- 16:03Speaker 3: I choose to believe I would agree with you, except
- 16:06Speaker 3: I know, Voter, I feel like my interpretation of his
- 16:10Speaker 3: reaction is body language. Nah, he didn't hear about it.
- 16:15Speaker 3: You also got to remember they flew all night or
- 16:17Speaker 3: they flew through the night. He's got like 19 kids
- 16:21Speaker 3: at home and he's probably pretty distracted by things. I
- 16:26Speaker 3: think it could have gone under the radar, but also
- 16:29Speaker 3: maybe the Yandy comments were a little bit out of translation.
- 16:34Speaker 3: He said paraphrasing. So maybe it's not, but no, you
- 16:37Speaker 3: don't need, You don't need bulletin board material. Look, your
- 16:41Speaker 3: back's against the wall. What else do you need? You
- 16:44Speaker 3: need them to hold a knife to you? I don't know.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I don't know. Bulletin board material wasn't a thing.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I think I would have known if I'm a manager.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I think somebody would have came. I like to read.
- 17:00Speaker 2: up on articles and stuff the night before and all
- 17:03Speaker 2: that kind of stuff. If I was the manager, I
- 17:04Speaker 2: would have hung it in front of everybody's locker before
- 17:07Speaker 2: they got there and let them all know this is
- 17:10Speaker 2: what this guy said. And it's not hatred or anything.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Even if it was misinterpreted, it was there. Somebody wrote it.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I would have definitely hung that thing up in bold letters.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I would have had five, or not five, Jesus. I
- 17:21Speaker 2: would have had 40 of them for the coaches, for
- 17:24Speaker 2: the staff. I would have posted it in the training room.
- 17:28Speaker 2: When you go sit down, here it is again. I
- 17:30Speaker 2: would have. I would have. That's just my nature. I
- 17:34Speaker 2: was born like that. My high school coach used to
- 17:36Speaker 2: find some kind of bulletin board stuff and give to
- 17:38Speaker 2: us all the time. And I feel like it still
- 17:41Speaker 2: would work to this day. I'm not saying it would win,
- 17:43Speaker 2: but give a little added effort, added steam, you know?
- 17:47Speaker 1: I agree. Listen, and Voter can– and we love Voter.
- 17:51Speaker 1: So he does an unbelievable job. But come on, guys.
- 17:55Speaker 1: You have all been on these flights. You guys have
- 17:56Speaker 1: all been on these flights. And on everybody's phone, every
- 18:01Speaker 1: little thing pops up on your phone. Yandy Diaz says
- 18:05Speaker 1: it's over. No way, Steven Vogt. Somebody, the traveling secretary, sorry,
- 18:11Speaker 1: the director of team travel, one of the coaches, everybody,
- 18:15Speaker 1: somebody walking by said, man, did you see what Yandy
- 18:18Speaker 1: Diaz said after that? Come on, Todd, you know this?
- 18:21Speaker 1: You know how these flights work.
- 18:24Speaker 2: The PR guys, they bring a stack in like this,
- 18:27Speaker 2: all stapled up. every single article I mean a lot
- 18:31Speaker 2: of the teams I've been on and it's literally sitting
- 18:34Speaker 2: out in front of some tables so and that's what
- 18:36Speaker 2: the PR guy does he he has to read if
- 18:39Speaker 2: you're a really good PR guy you read every article
- 18:42Speaker 2: about your your team the night or the morning of
- 18:45Speaker 2: that's your job to make sure nobody had some text
- 18:48Speaker 2: context out of out of whack so you can go
- 18:51Speaker 2: talk to the guy beforehand and Definitely, that didn't go
- 18:55Speaker 2: unnoticed in my opinion. He had a little smirk on
- 18:57Speaker 2: his face, or maybe Kratz knows better, but I felt
- 19:00Speaker 2: like he had a little smirk, like, I don't know,
- 19:04Speaker 2: you know, whatever. Hey, they lost, so, you know, it's
- 19:07Speaker 2: neither here nor there anymore.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Yandy was right. And then he went out and backed
- 19:17Speaker 1: it up. By the way, he backed it up in
- 19:19Speaker 1: the ninth inning. That was a piss missile he hit
- 19:21Speaker 1: in the ninth inning. And he had seen Gattis a
- 19:23Speaker 1: couple times. So you know what he did? He's like,
- 19:25Speaker 1: I'm going to get me a changeup. And he got one.
- 19:28Speaker 1: And I love the angle they show where he's like,
- 19:30Speaker 1: his bat was like this, like down, through it. And
- 19:33Speaker 1: then for him to do it, him and Caminero to
- 19:35Speaker 1: do it against a team that both traded him away.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 19:39Speaker 1: The Guardians. I mean, that has to be a little special.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I mean, Kevin Arrow was traded for Tobias Myers, right?
- 19:45Speaker 1: And Yandy was traded in like a three-team. There was
- 19:49Speaker 1: guys going everywhere, right? So it had to be a
- 19:51Speaker 1: little more special. Then Yandy called a shot, and then
- 19:55Speaker 1: he went deep. So tip my cap. Tip my Tampa
- 19:57Speaker 1: Bay cap to him.
- 20:00Speaker 3: It was the most confusing series for me because throughout
- 20:03Speaker 3: my career, I played with so many different guys on
- 20:06Speaker 3: these teams, but on– the different team. I played with
- 20:12Speaker 3: Sean Armstrong when he was with the Guardians, when we
- 20:17Speaker 3: were the Indians. Now he's back with the Guardians, but
- 20:20Speaker 3: he was a Ray. I played with Freddie P, with
- 20:24Speaker 3: the Brewers who are still in it. Freddie P is
- 20:27Speaker 3: now on the Rays, and I'm like, wait a minute,
- 20:29Speaker 3: he's in the World Series. Cole Sulcer was also on
- 20:34Speaker 3: the Guardians. Now he's on the Rays. And The whole
- 20:39Speaker 3: time I'm like, who's on what? It felt like it
- 20:41Speaker 3: was a bizarro world. So there was a lot of
- 20:46Speaker 3: revenge games slash reunion games slash kind of what we're
- 20:51Speaker 3: going with when we see the World Series. Drew Rasmussen,
- 20:57Speaker 3: I remember watching him standing in for a live at
- 21:00Speaker 3: bat on the main field and in Maryville when he
- 21:05Speaker 3: was a Brewer prospect and they brought him up. He
- 21:07Speaker 3: wasn't in big league camp, but they brought him up
- 21:09Speaker 3: to watch him throw in 2019 spring training. And now
- 21:12Speaker 3: he's going to be pitching for the Rays in Milwaukee.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Wait a minute. I can't put it all together. Todd,
- 21:23Speaker 1: are you that confused? Todd, are you that confused? Did
- 21:25Speaker 1: that make you more or less confused what Kratz just said?
- 21:27Speaker 1: Because it kind of made me more confused.
- 21:29Speaker 2: I was like this.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Oh.
- 21:31Speaker 1: It was everywhere. I can't. That's what I'm watching. I
- 21:35Speaker 1: can't keep it all together. So, all right. I mean, Todd,
- 21:42Speaker 1: you were traded, right? You were traded one time?
- 21:46Speaker 2: I was traded two times.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Maybe three. Two times.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 21:52Speaker 1: You were traded to the White Sox.
- 21:54Speaker 2: I was traded to the White Sox. I was traded
- 21:57Speaker 2: from the White Sox to the Yankees. I was traded
- 22:00Speaker 2: from the Rangers to the Mets. So, three. Okay.
- 22:02Speaker 1: So, three. Okay. Did you ever have a revenge game?
- 22:05Speaker 1: Did you ever have a revenge series?
- 22:08Speaker 3: No.
- 22:09Speaker 1: No.
- 22:10Speaker 2: No. I mean, there was no animosity towards any of
- 22:13Speaker 2: those teams. So, I mean, no.
- 22:14Speaker 1: No. Nothing.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Nothing. And usually I find a way to get a
- 22:19Speaker 2: revenge series just to piss myself off. But, no, I
- 22:21Speaker 2: don't remember anywhere like, oh, they're coming back. I got
- 22:24Speaker 2: to do something good. No, it was always against a guy.
- 22:27Speaker 2: If he was from New Jersey pitching, that's when I
- 22:29Speaker 2: got really hyped up because I didn't want to come home.
- 22:31Speaker 2: And even though this wouldn't happen, in my mind it's like,
- 22:34Speaker 2: I'm going to be the laughingstock of New Jersey. I
- 22:36Speaker 2: can't let this guy get me. That was my only fear.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Here's the problem, Todd. Krauts was traded so many times,
- 22:42Speaker 1: every game would have been a revenge game for him.
- 22:44Speaker 1: So we can't even ask him that question because he
- 22:46Speaker 1: would have– He would have had too many. I remember
- 22:48Speaker 1: one time I went back after I, again, I was
- 22:50Speaker 1: traded from Minnesota to the White Sox and I got
- 22:53Speaker 1: hit by a pitch in the first game or two
- 22:54Speaker 1: of the first time we had played them in Minnesota.
- 22:58Speaker 1: And I was so mad. I, I, after I got hit,
- 23:00Speaker 1: I like threw my bat like into the dugout, but
- 23:02Speaker 1: I threw it to the wrong dugout because I was
- 23:04Speaker 1: used to being on the third base side and we
- 23:07Speaker 1: were in the first base side. So I'm like, ah, crap.
- 23:10Speaker 1: It was Kyle Lowe. Someone who I played with too,
- 23:12Speaker 1: for like all the way in the minor leagues and
- 23:14Speaker 1: then in the big leagues. And he like clipped me
- 23:16Speaker 1: with a cutter in the arm. And I was like,
- 23:18Speaker 1: damn it. And then I just kind of flipped my
- 23:20Speaker 1: bat and it went to the– I was like, oh, man,
- 23:22Speaker 1: what an idiot.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I wouldn't have given it back if it was for
- 23:26Speaker 2: the Haggard. I'd give it back to you.
- 23:28Speaker 3: So you threw your bat at the other team is
- 23:30Speaker 3: what we got from that story.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, exactly. You threw it at the other team. 100%.
- 23:36Speaker 2: That is crazy.
- 23:36Speaker 1: You threw it at the manager that didn't want you anymore.
- 23:39Speaker 1: That's right. I mean, they only got Joe Maurer, so
- 23:41Speaker 1: I think they– I think they made the right choice
- 23:44Speaker 1: on that one. It's a small, small choice. Anyways, what
- 23:49Speaker 1: do you guys think of Chandler Simpson? He's kind of–
- 23:51Speaker 1: Crouchy Chandler Simpson was kind of the guy, you know, oh,
- 23:55Speaker 1: he can't have any power. Can he play at the
- 23:58Speaker 1: big league level? What are they going to do with him?
- 24:02Speaker 1: I mean, this dude made an impact. Bunt hits, stolen bases.
- 24:06Speaker 1: He got some big hits for the Rays in this
- 24:08Speaker 1: series and all postseason. What was his impact in this, Crouchy?
- 24:14Speaker 3: He was unapologetically himself this entire series. I think he
- 24:18Speaker 3: struck out. I don't know if he struck out once
- 24:21Speaker 3: or he didn't strike out at all this series. This
- 24:24Speaker 3: is a guy that came into September with a chance
- 24:28Speaker 3: to win a batting title. Kind of slid a little bit.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Sometimes speed guys get tired. I know speed doesn't go
- 24:34Speaker 3: into a slump.
- 24:35Speaker 1: But you know what? He wasn't able to find the hits.
- 24:40Speaker 1: He didn't change anything. He didn't change anything.
- 24:43Speaker 3: His approach he didn't change his aggressiveness and I felt
- 24:47Speaker 3: like he was when you talk about Todd says it
- 24:50Speaker 3: all the time when you got your foot on their
- 24:52Speaker 3: throat don't let them up and I felt like some
- 24:55Speaker 3: of the stuff that he did as Caminero's protection he
- 25:01Speaker 3: was protection behind him in the lineup like that is
- 25:06Speaker 3: that's a case of okay we're just going to pitch
- 25:08Speaker 3: around Junior Caminero luckily for the Guardians he kept chasing
- 25:13Speaker 3: But they were pitching around him to get to Chandler Simpson,
- 25:16Speaker 3: who got doubles in the gap.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Next pitch, steal in third.
- 25:21Speaker 3: He grounded out into a fielder's choice.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Next pitch, steal second.
- 25:27Speaker 3: The stuff he was doing, the way that he was
- 25:29Speaker 3: able to play his game, like I said at the beginning, unapologetically,
- 25:34Speaker 3: I think it adds another element to And, A.J., you know,
- 25:39Speaker 3: you're calling slide steps. You're calling pickoffs, all that stuff.
- 25:43Speaker 3: When a guy like that's on base, it can't not
- 25:47Speaker 3: distract a pitcher.
- 25:48Speaker 1: It can't.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Like, they just get just a tick off. And in
- 25:51Speaker 3: the playoffs, when you have a guy like that running
- 25:53Speaker 3: around the bases, it creates havoc.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Kratzy, who does he remind you of? I'm going to
- 26:00Speaker 2: write it down. And, A.J., I'm going to write it down.
- 26:04Speaker 1: You're going to say Billy Hamilton.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Sorry. Well, a hundred percent, a hundred percent, dude, even
- 26:11Speaker 2: the way he throws, the way he swings, the way
- 26:14Speaker 2: he throws and the, and the way, well, Billy, when
- 26:18Speaker 2: he ran, it looked like he was running so hard.
- 26:20Speaker 2: It looks like Simpson's like he's something's bothering him. And he,
- 26:24Speaker 2: he's still running that fast. Like the way he runs,
- 26:26Speaker 2: it looks like he's limping sometimes, but he's on just
- 26:30Speaker 2: cruise control. I wish I could do that, but yeah, he's,
- 26:32Speaker 2: He's coming into his own, and he's real quiet about it,
- 26:36Speaker 2: and that's the one thing I love about what he's doing.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Real quiet about what he's doing. I mean, these choppers
- 26:41Speaker 2: that he's hitting, just put the ball in your pocket.
- 26:43Speaker 2: The bunt today was fantastic, man. You cannot get close
- 26:47Speaker 2: enough to that guy, and I'm wishing him the best
- 26:50Speaker 2: in this World Series because they're going to need him
- 26:52Speaker 2: to get on base and cause some more havoc.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Maybe I have a predisposition about when I look at
- 26:57Speaker 3: him because we interviewed him when he was in the
- 27:00Speaker 3: prospect category pad or whatever it's called in the 23
- 27:05Speaker 3: in Texas whatever the all-star game in Texas that we
- 27:07Speaker 3: went to we interviewed him he came on set and
- 27:11Speaker 3: he just seems like he has a different intensity I
- 27:14Speaker 3: didn't know anything about him other than that he was
- 27:17Speaker 3: 80 speed and I'm like okay 80 speed how's that
- 27:20Speaker 3: really gonna play I didn't know anything about him he
- 27:23Speaker 3: came in there and.
- 27:23Speaker 1: I was like whoa this dude's like just just a little.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Bit different intensity that's the other thing I think he
- 27:29Speaker 3: brings I think when you see him get on first base,
- 27:32Speaker 3: when I think Billy Hamilton, I just see a guy
- 27:34Speaker 3: that was like, hey, I'm just going to go and
- 27:36Speaker 3: play the game, and he always seemed like happy-go-lucky. Chandler
- 27:39Speaker 3: Simpson looks like he's a little mad. Richie Palacios looks
- 27:44Speaker 3: like they're a little mad, like they want to get
- 27:48Speaker 3: after the other team, or they're kind of like that energy.
- 27:52Speaker 3: They're kind of that pump dudes up. Even in the
- 27:55Speaker 3: case where postseason you probably don't need people to pump
- 27:58Speaker 3: you up, But it just seems like Chandler Simpson is
- 28:00Speaker 3: kind of that guy. But it's also, you know, he
- 28:04Speaker 3: gets on first base and his teammates are like, okay,
- 28:06Speaker 3: he had one strikeout. He had one strikeout in the
- 28:08Speaker 3: postseason so far. He's only had one walk, as some
- 28:11Speaker 3: people would say, but who cares? He gets on base.
- 28:13Speaker 3: His teammates are like, okay, something's going to happen here.
- 28:16Speaker 3: I'm not sure what it is, but something's going to happen.
- 28:20Speaker 3: By the way, you mentioned Richie Palacios. He's been a
- 28:22Speaker 3: guest on this show. He loves coming on the foul
- 28:24Speaker 3: territory too.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Such good energy. And he changed his stance, man. He
- 28:28Speaker 1: changed his stance. He got closer to the plate. He
- 28:29Speaker 1: went more– he almost went like Craig Council style with his–
- 28:32Speaker 1: like the way he holds his hands straight up like
- 28:35Speaker 1: Craig Council. He did one of the 5,000 stances that
- 28:38Speaker 1: Council had in his career, but he turned his career around.
- 28:43Speaker 2: That check swing, man.
- 28:43Speaker 1: That check swing was close. It was, but in a
- 28:46Speaker 1: couple years, Todd, you won't have to worry about it.
- 28:48Speaker 1: You know why? Never. Because they're going to have a
- 28:49Speaker 1: check swing check thing. And by the way, you want
- 28:52Speaker 1: to know why Chandler Simpson is so challenged? He went
- 28:55Speaker 1: to UAB, kids. He went to UAB. And if you
- 28:56Speaker 1: don't know what UAB is, Google it. Good players go
- 28:59Speaker 1: to UAB. Sorry, Kratz. Sorry.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Sorry, Todd.
- 29:01Speaker 1: It's not Rutgers, but it's close.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Wait. Alabama, Birmingham?
- 29:04Speaker 1: You know it. Chandler Simpson went to UAB? Ha! Think
- 29:08Speaker 1: he did it? Look it up, kids. I didn't know that. Yeah.
- 29:13Speaker 2: How do you do?
- 29:14Speaker 1: That's right. I mean, there's a couple of players out there, Kratz,
- 29:16Speaker 1: that went to UAB.
- 29:18Speaker 2: So.
- 29:18Speaker 1: No, some good players. Yeah. Whitlock.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Uh.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Chandler Simpson, Tolbert on the Royals. You know, there's some UABers.
- 29:27Speaker 1: There's some Blazers out there.
- 29:29Speaker 3: One more thing. We didn't even hit on it. Who
- 29:32Speaker 3: was the nine hitter tonight do you know Todd who
- 29:34Speaker 3: the nine hitter for the Rays was.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Oh man which hitter Taylor Walls Walls okay three walks
- 29:42Speaker 1: Taylor Walls had.
- 29:43Speaker 3: Three walks yes he did that I can't one player
- 29:49Speaker 3: doesn't change a game or the approach to one player
- 29:52Speaker 3: but just the overarching what the heck happened with the
- 29:56Speaker 3: Guardians and maybe they were tired you get tired or
- 29:58Speaker 3: your arm hurts whatever but Command goes, I'm sorry. I
- 30:02Speaker 3: have to tell Taylor Walls this ball is coming right
- 30:05Speaker 3: down the middle, and I want to see how far
- 30:07Speaker 3: you can hit it before I walk him in front
- 30:09Speaker 3: of Yandy Diaz's one bicep, not even counting.
- 30:14Speaker 1: His other biceps. Like, sorry.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Like, you can't let that happen. And I know they did,
- 30:21Speaker 3: and I know the pitchers are human, but that was–
- 30:26Speaker 3: Crazy to me that it happened twice.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Crazy that it happened once early in the game, twice,
- 30:32Speaker 1: and the third time I'm just like, okay, well, that's that. Yeah. Well,
- 30:36Speaker 1: you know what? He bunted one time really well. It
- 30:38Speaker 1: actually wasn't even that great of a bunt because they
- 30:40Speaker 1: threw the guy out of second. So he didn't even
- 30:42Speaker 1: do that right. But he's a hell of a defender.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I'll tell you that. He's one hell of a defender.
- 30:46Speaker 1: And that play he made where he came across the bag,
- 30:49Speaker 1: tagged the guy, never let the guy tag you at
- 30:51Speaker 1: second base. Remember that whole trick thing?
- 30:53Speaker 2: Fall down.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Fall down or something. He used to have a thing
- 30:56Speaker 1: where he'd slide. He used to have a thing where
- 30:58Speaker 1: he'd slide. Take him out. I don't think you can
- 31:00Speaker 1: do that anymore, though. I don't think you can slide
- 31:03Speaker 1: and take the guy out.
- 31:04Speaker 2: And Albert Bell.
- 31:06Speaker 1: No, not Albert Bell.
- 31:08Speaker 3: You definitely can't do that anymore. But on that play,
- 31:11Speaker 3: to me, you slide. You can't slide through the base.
- 31:15Speaker 3: But if you slide, you're going towards the base because
- 31:18Speaker 3: he was just coming from that direction.
- 31:20Speaker 1: You slide.
- 31:21Speaker 3: That's not avoiding. That's not harming. You're not targeting. You're
- 31:25Speaker 3: not doing anything.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Okay. That's fair.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Anyways. Taylor Walls had a nice series, especially defensively. Three walks.
- 31:33Speaker 1: You're right, Crouch. You can't walk them three times. Baseball fans,
