- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Of course, I'm your host, Clay, and with me for
- 0:28Speaker 2: this fine Friday night, an unusual time for us to
- 0:33Speaker 2: usually record, of course, is Katie, Katie, how you doing.
- 0:38Speaker 3: I'm doing pretty good. Looking at all of the Star
- 0:41Speaker 3: Wars news coming to light this past the past day,
- 0:46Speaker 3: past two days.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I know it's weird. Okay, So here's here's the thing
- 0:50Speaker 2: that's a little weird for me. Okay, it's technically I
- 0:54Speaker 2: think they're a day ahead of us, right, I think
- 0:58Speaker 2: there is ahead of us.
- 0:59Speaker 3: So I woke up and all of the Star Wars
- 1:01Speaker 3: news from Friday has already happened, so like tonight and
- 1:06Speaker 3: or Ahsoka.
- 1:09Speaker 2: But that's what I mean, Like it's it like has
- 1:12Speaker 2: it's really funny. I think of Anakin's quote at this time,
- 1:16Speaker 2: this is where the fun begins. It's like it's only starting,
- 1:19Speaker 2: and I feel like we've already been hit with some
- 1:21Speaker 2: pretty big ones.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Yeah, but we'll Sunday.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Yeah, we will actually be talking about that. We will
- 1:29Speaker 2: be recording on Sunday. By the time you were listening
- 1:33Speaker 2: to this review, you could actually listen to that because
- 1:38Speaker 2: we will be dropping that episode on Monday. I do
- 1:41Speaker 2: believe to get most of everybody's reactions and our reactions,
- 1:46Speaker 2: of course, to all of the latest and greatest news
- 1:49Speaker 2: from Star Wars celebration. But we're here four Star Wars,
- 1:56Speaker 2: The High Republic Acala Way Seeker like it? Like it?
- 2:03Speaker 2: So is the Higher Republic really a part of the title.
- 2:06Speaker 3: I don't think the High Republic is part of Okay.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Okay, so we could really just cut it down to.
- 2:11Speaker 3: The Way Seeker.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah. So, of course this is a Justina Ireland novel. Uh,
- 2:21Speaker 2: we will be talking about it in its entirety now.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Of course, we are doing this review based on.
- 2:29Speaker 3: The advanced reader's copy.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yes, advanced reader's copy and the oh crap, the word
- 2:38Speaker 2: escape my mind? What's the word that I'm looking for?
- 2:41Speaker 4: Uh?
- 2:41Speaker 3: The uh context.
- 2:46Speaker 2: We could do the reviews early because of this embargo embargo. Yes,
- 2:51Speaker 2: the embargo has been lifted due to the fact that
- 2:54Speaker 2: there is quite possibly still haven't seen any online. Uh,
- 2:57Speaker 2: but there's possibly copies of this novel out during celebration.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Which I mean the embargo is typically two weeks anyways
- 3:07Speaker 3: from publication. This novel publicizes on May sixth, so it's
- 3:12Speaker 3: about two weeks.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Yeah, just about. So we will be talking about it
- 3:20Speaker 2: in its entirety, barring some spoilers, of course, because that's
- 3:25Speaker 2: what we usually do. We don't spoil everything for you guys.
- 3:29Speaker 2: We want you guys to experience it for yourself, have
- 3:32Speaker 2: your own opinions and whatnot. I will say this this
- 3:39Speaker 2: book may be a little different for people because it
- 3:43Speaker 2: has two different types of writing styles within one. It
- 3:49Speaker 2: has two different perspectives, and not the way that you
- 3:53Speaker 2: would think because when we say perspectives, usually when we're
- 3:55Speaker 2: talking about Star Wars books, we're actually talking about characters
- 4:00Speaker 2: third person point of view. In this novel, in particular,
- 4:05Speaker 2: we are talking about third third person point of view
- 4:09Speaker 2: and first person point of.
- 4:11Speaker 3: View, which throws the book off a lot. Let's go
- 4:14Speaker 3: ahead and talk about that. So this book is written
- 4:20Speaker 3: first person perspective excuse me for Vernestra, which is the
- 4:25Speaker 3: title character, and then there are some villain perspective chapters,
- 4:33Speaker 3: and mainly the other chapters are written third person from
- 4:38Speaker 3: a Dari's perspective, but even the villain perspectives are third
- 4:42Speaker 3: person as well, so it's kind of like Vernestra is
- 4:47Speaker 3: writing all of this down as it's been told to
- 4:50Speaker 3: her kind of thing, which is really weird. It's a
- 4:56Speaker 3: tough shift from reading ver That'stro's point of view chapters
- 5:01Speaker 3: to Dara's point of view chapters, because you have to
- 5:04Speaker 3: flip your mindset around tore.
- 5:08Speaker 2: In, especially when you are very quickly trying to read
- 5:13Speaker 2: this like we had to do. And I was gonna say,
- 5:22Speaker 2: I was gonna say this. Granted we had these books,
- 5:27Speaker 2: or we had this book for quite some time, our
- 5:30Speaker 2: schedules were a bit swamped, and so we weren't really
- 5:33Speaker 2: able to throw it into our schedule to actually read
- 5:36Speaker 2: until just here recently. With the idea of these different perspectives,
- 5:44Speaker 2: I like, it's it's a double edged sword, because here's
- 5:51Speaker 2: the thing. When I am looking at the entirety of
- 5:56Speaker 2: the High Republic, a part of and he says, man,
- 6:01Speaker 2: we didn't really get a whole lot of her nest drop,
- 6:04Speaker 2: So getting her perspective on a book I think is
- 6:09Speaker 2: really nice. I think that's really fun. But the really
- 6:14Speaker 2: annoying thing is we're not yet done with The High
- 6:20Speaker 2: Republic correct, and there is some lingering things here that
- 6:26Speaker 2: kind of leave you like, what the hell, what's going
- 6:31Speaker 2: on here? What is that reference to? What is that
- 6:33Speaker 2: reference to? What is going on with this story here?
- 6:37Speaker 2: And I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it almost makes me wonder if Disney was like, Okay,
- 6:46Speaker 3: we want these out to celebrate the year anniversary of
- 6:50Speaker 3: the Acolyte, even though we know the High Republic's not
- 6:54Speaker 3: going to be done. One of the things that has
- 6:56Speaker 3: come out with celebration in the publishing panel yesterday, like
- 7:01Speaker 3: the final piece of Star Wars media is a comic
- 7:05Speaker 3: coming out July thirtieth by Cabin Scott, and that's like
- 7:10Speaker 3: the final piece, uh to everything. So it's like it
- 7:17Speaker 3: feels like it had to be out for the Acolytes
- 7:20Speaker 3: one year anniversary in the release date because I almost
- 7:24Speaker 3: would have rather swapped and gotten Adam's book here at
- 7:29Speaker 3: this date and had Aclte Way Seeker come out in
- 7:32Speaker 3: November after all the Higher Republic stuff has come out,
- 7:35Speaker 3: because you're right, I mean, we have Taie, we have
- 7:38Speaker 3: mentions of Kiev, we have mentions of Emory, like all
- 7:44Speaker 3: these things, and it's not really a transitional This book
- 7:50Speaker 3: is not a transitional piece from Vernestra in the High
- 7:53Speaker 3: Republic to the Vernestra we get in the Acolyte.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Especially as of right now, because we can only assume
- 8:01Speaker 2: that Vernestra's going to be in Trials of the Jedi.
- 8:04Speaker 2: That's what we can assume currently as it stands. The
- 8:09Speaker 2: last place we saw Ernestra was in Temptations of the Force.
- 8:18Speaker 3: She was also into the Light.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yes, okay, yeah, yeah, she was into the Light, but
- 8:25Speaker 2: like in a very full capacity though, like she was
- 8:29Speaker 2: only I almost want to say, she might have just
- 8:33Speaker 2: been mentioned if not like have a small like chapter,
- 8:37Speaker 2: like maybe less than one chapter of one book, probably
- 8:41Speaker 2: talking to Wreath, so like in a full capacity type
- 8:47Speaker 2: of storytelling. Temptations of the Force was really the last
- 8:51Speaker 2: place that we saw Vernestra. So when you go from
- 8:56Speaker 2: there to Act Light, you have to you have leaps
- 9:02Speaker 2: and bounds. There is literal decades that have passed. Yeah,
- 9:10Speaker 2: between these two times, which is not.
- 9:13Speaker 3: A bad thing per se, because that gives you some
- 9:18Speaker 3: flexibility and how the character is it gets you, gives
- 9:21Speaker 3: you an easier time to get Vernestra to the Accolte.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Yes, it does. But my problem with it, and I
- 9:29Speaker 2: say problem and it sounds very harsh, I think that
- 9:33Speaker 2: it's just a small frustration to know that again, the
- 9:39Speaker 2: High Republic isn't finished. And the way that Justina wrote
- 9:43Speaker 2: some of these story points was, Hey, this is something
- 9:49Speaker 2: that you should know, but you really won't know. And
- 9:54Speaker 2: I'm like, like, I want more of that, but i
- 9:58Speaker 2: just know that I'm not gonna get it. Like That's
- 10:01Speaker 2: what I think. Kind of irks me.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Are you talking about like where Tye leaves the order
- 10:05Speaker 3: a second time?
- 10:07Speaker 2: Yes, and like the frustration between the two of them, like, yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 2: it leaves you wondering, oh, what happened? But for me,
- 10:15Speaker 2: it's like, God, damn it, I want to know what happened,
- 10:18Speaker 2: because again, we just recently reviewed that comic with Tye
- 10:23Speaker 2: and we know that she the next time we are
- 10:25Speaker 2: going to see her again is going to be Trials.
- 10:27Speaker 3: All right, y'all, We're going to hit our first ad
- 10:29Speaker 3: break and we will be right back in three two one.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Seeing where she was in the uh oh, shoot, remind
- 10:40Speaker 2: me of the title monster Hunter, Yes, seeing her and
- 10:46Speaker 2: Monster Hunter.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Monster of Temple Peak.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Yes, No, that's the first one. This one is Oh
- 10:55Speaker 2: my gosh, I'm looking. I think I still have it
- 11:01Speaker 2: on my phone. Actually it is Saber for Higher Saber
- 11:08Speaker 2: for Higher seeing her in Saber for Higher, knowing what
- 11:15Speaker 2: Trials of the Jedi is kind of gonna be about,
- 11:19Speaker 2: and then knowing that she has left the Order, Like,
- 11:25Speaker 2: does this mean we know what to anticipate in trials?
- 11:30Speaker 3: Not really, because it's not clear when she leaves the
- 11:34Speaker 3: Jedi Order the second time. Correct, Yeah, and we know
- 11:40Speaker 3: that when she does leave, she, like Ti Yorik, is
- 11:44Speaker 3: a way seeker, so she's definitely not going to be
- 11:49Speaker 3: a way seeker in Trials of the Jedi. So I
- 11:54Speaker 3: would say Tye leaves after the conclusion of everything.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, so we have that, and so like I
- 12:06Speaker 2: have that small frustration there, but again the the small
- 12:14Speaker 2: lingering things of like we are starting to see even
- 12:20Speaker 2: I think in the last big role outside of Temptation
- 12:24Speaker 2: of the Forest, it was second book of Phase three.
- 12:31Speaker 3: It was the Light.
- 12:34Speaker 2: No no, uh, defy the Storm, Yes, and Defy the Storm.
- 12:40Speaker 2: We started to see Vernestra kind of breaking quote unquote
- 12:47Speaker 2: breaking the restraints that the Order kind of had on her.
- 12:51Speaker 2: She's you saw her finally being like, oh, I'm still
- 12:55Speaker 2: a Jedi, and I still am quote unquote obedient to
- 12:59Speaker 2: the Order, but I understand that we are in trying times,
- 13:04Speaker 2: and we are literally fighting to survive, so we may
- 13:07Speaker 2: have to do some questionable things, but I'm still gonna
- 13:10Speaker 2: do it as a Jedi. Yeah, and you get that
- 13:13Speaker 2: mentality here, but you're actually able to get You're able
- 13:17Speaker 2: to literally see inside Varnestra's head when she's making these decisions.
- 13:22Speaker 2: So I do enjoy that. I think that was clever
- 13:27Speaker 2: of them, knowing that we get to see that small
- 13:31Speaker 2: part of Vernestra in the High Republic, and we get
- 13:35Speaker 2: to see how she's evolved in that way as well.
- 13:42Speaker 2: The conflict of this story is that.
- 13:49Speaker 3: The Nullifiers which were mentioned in Rising Storm and I
- 13:55Speaker 3: believe Crash Point, yes, but those Nullifiers kind of disappeared
- 14:04Speaker 3: after the Battle of Valo, and then they've kind of
- 14:07Speaker 3: apparently made appearances over this time period. This is about
- 14:13Speaker 3: ten years before the prequel scenes in the Accolades, so
- 14:17Speaker 3: that's kind of where your time period is, guys. But
- 14:21Speaker 3: over the decades, the Nullafiers have come in and out,
- 14:26Speaker 3: but the Jedi Order has never been able to get
- 14:28Speaker 3: their hands on one. And so when Vernestra sees these
- 14:35Speaker 3: for the first time since Valo, she knows, Okay, hey,
- 14:39Speaker 3: something's got to give the main question I have here
- 14:45Speaker 3: for you, But before I ask that, I do want
- 14:48Speaker 3: to make sure. So the LGBTQ representation here we have
- 14:53Speaker 3: Vernestra is the asexual representation here, and then I believe
- 14:59Speaker 3: Ty is on the LGBTQ spectrum as well. I have
- 15:05Speaker 3: it here on I have her up on Wikipedia. Is
- 15:08Speaker 3: this gonna tell me? No? It's not so anyways, But
- 15:15Speaker 3: that is your representation for the representation, the representation for
- 15:21Speaker 3: the representation for the LGBTQ community here, and then we
- 15:28Speaker 3: don't know what and where in Dara is at on
- 15:31Speaker 3: the spectrum, but there is representation with Vernestra and Tie
- 15:37Speaker 3: in particular. So the question I have for you, Klay
- 15:42Speaker 3: is so this whole point, when we're talking about way Seekert,
- 15:49Speaker 3: we know that Hey and Dara is sent to get
- 15:52Speaker 3: Vernestra because there is a specific senator that wants to
- 15:58Speaker 3: turn himself in to Vernestra, and Vernestra only yes, and
- 16:05Speaker 3: ultimately we find out that senator is Senator Garne. We
- 16:07Speaker 3: don't know who the senator is. It's just somebody who
- 16:10Speaker 3: has come up over Vernostra's time period and everything. He
- 16:15Speaker 3: has sponsored a bill to basically commit the Jedi order
- 16:22Speaker 3: to the Republic and the Republic only it didn't get
- 16:24Speaker 3: much traction, but he was kind of the first one
- 16:27Speaker 3: to propose that bill, which turned a lot of people
- 16:30Speaker 3: against him. But apparently he also has illegal dealings, which
- 16:35Speaker 3: is where Vernestra comes in, because Garn is ready to
- 16:39Speaker 3: report what he's been doing, but he wants Vernestra to
- 16:44Speaker 3: come get him off fels It. I so Garn was
- 16:52Speaker 3: rescued by Vernestra when he was young. That's the only
- 16:58Speaker 3: connection they have. They don't have any other connection. And
- 17:02Speaker 3: it turns out that it was all a ployee to
- 17:06Speaker 3: get the Jedi that come.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yes, this our villain Nielsen. He is the like I'm
- 17:18Speaker 2: gonna call him a mercenary slash pirate. Yes, he the
- 17:24Speaker 2: Nihiller also uh mentioned in this book. They are, And
- 17:30Speaker 2: I think that Vernestra kind of makes a somewhat comparison
- 17:34Speaker 2: and being and being in the way that's like, oh
- 17:37Speaker 2: he is no Nihill, but I could see him becoming
- 17:40Speaker 2: a problem blah blah blah. But yeah, you're you're right.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Yeah, So how did you feel about that connection and
- 17:50Speaker 3: being there but there being no specific reason because the
- 17:54Speaker 3: Jedi that he brings it was all like a ploy
- 17:57Speaker 3: to get some Jedi killed.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I why would he.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Like that's the only Jed that he cares about.
- 18:08Speaker 2: I Unfortunately, the real answer is, I think it's a
- 18:14Speaker 2: very easy plot point. Oh, this person is an older
- 18:21Speaker 2: uh senator or governor whatever, and who's gonna be there
- 18:26Speaker 2: long enough to be able to just like just place
- 18:29Speaker 2: Oh Vernestra, She's lived for generations, she's older. Like, you
- 18:34Speaker 2: could very well put one of the other council members
- 18:39Speaker 2: in that scenario, but then how would Vernestra get there?
- 18:44Speaker 2: You know, like, how would you throw Vernestra into that story?
- 18:47Speaker 2: So I think it's as easy as, oh, you know,
- 18:51Speaker 2: let's just make a small, you know, story point of like, oh,
- 18:55Speaker 2: they knew each other when she was younger, and you know, uh,
- 19:00Speaker 2: she saved his life. I you know, going back to
- 19:06Speaker 2: the idea because again small frustrations of you know, knowing
- 19:10Speaker 2: backstory but not knowing backstory and everything else. There is
- 19:15Speaker 2: a lot of mentions, like you had said, some direct
- 19:18Speaker 2: in some undirect indirect should I say I have So
- 19:25Speaker 2: I was able to read this on my kindle app
- 19:30Speaker 2: I have notations I highlighted, I notated. I don't know
- 19:34Speaker 2: if you did at.
- 19:35Speaker 3: All somewhat I left it downstairs, but I'm going based
- 19:39Speaker 3: off memory because I read most of it today.
- 19:41Speaker 2: There is a line that says, ah, and who is
- 19:47Speaker 2: your friend from the Order? Not another of your Jedi
- 19:52Speaker 2: scientists looking for escape? Question mark? I have this highlighted.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Who do you think it is? Jedi scientists looking to escape?
- 20:15Speaker 3: I don't really know, because I feel like all the
- 20:18Speaker 3: scientists that we have met with Bernestra were human, So
- 20:25Speaker 3: like Wreath was human, Comak human. You might could say,
- 20:30Speaker 3: I'm at Ao potentially.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Well, but they just don't know well that I don't
- 20:40Speaker 2: know if they said anything specific about alien, but they
- 20:43Speaker 2: said not another of your Jedi scientists. I think it
- 20:48Speaker 2: is We're.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Gonna go into our second ad break and we'll be
- 20:53Speaker 3: right back.
- 20:55Speaker 2: And in that case, why did he need to escape?
- 20:58Speaker 2: Like this is what I this is what I'm like
- 21:00Speaker 2: getting angry about, Like I would that story, like I
- 21:04Speaker 2: I was in and out of hype for this book,
- 21:08Speaker 2: Like there would be moments where I'm like, Oh, that's
- 21:10Speaker 2: so cool, that's so badass, and then there would just
- 21:12Speaker 2: be a lull. And it's these moments here because we've
- 21:18Speaker 2: been so enveloped into the high Republic. There's characters that
- 21:25Speaker 2: we would love to know the end of their story.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Justina is teasing the end of stories here, and I
- 21:32Speaker 2: found myself more wanting those stories than this story at times,
- 21:38Speaker 2: which is not one Justina's fault. I will say that
- 21:43Speaker 2: as well. But you're right, it is not publicize here.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Sorry, y'all. I'm super congested. Uh it's really throwing me
- 21:56Speaker 3: off as I'm speaking. I don't think it's Wreath, and
- 22:03Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you why. So during the publishing panel yesterday,
- 22:11Speaker 3: they published the whole group of people and the front
- 22:14Speaker 3: and back cover of Trials of the Jedi, which features
- 22:20Speaker 3: the Luminous Nine as they're calling them, all decked out
- 22:24Speaker 3: and armor and everything, and Wreath is a part of
- 22:27Speaker 3: that mission.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Now, I will say I highlighted this portion of the
- 22:33Speaker 2: book prior through that panel, so you can't use that
- 22:39Speaker 2: against me, but I can.
- 22:43Speaker 3: A lot of people think the Luminous Nine is gonna
- 22:46Speaker 3: die everybody involved.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Oh you think everybody's gonna die. Oh.
- 22:51Speaker 3: I don't know if everybody's gonna die. But Wreath is
- 22:56Speaker 3: all that, And I would imagine that even going to
- 22:59Speaker 3: that planet could take a lot out of him to
- 23:02Speaker 3: where I don't think he would survive to get to
- 23:07Speaker 3: what did they call the planet? Ingay I a gay?
- 23:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, uh, it's a it's a commune of people
- 23:20Speaker 2: called the Collective, which is basically a group of scientists
- 23:24Speaker 2: that didn't want to that wanted their own place to study.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Basically is what we're talking about. And it was started
- 23:33Speaker 3: by Avon Starros, who changed her name to Sunvale apparently
- 23:38Speaker 3: officially is what.
- 23:40Speaker 2: It looks like, ingay I n g a e Okay, Yeah,
- 23:43Speaker 2: you're right.
- 23:46Speaker 5: Which I also found interesting because in the Santa Starros comic,
- 23:53Speaker 5: Avon is referred to as Avon stars Sars.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I highlighted Avon Sunvale and I did a smiling,
- 24:00Speaker 2: crying face because this is and I can talk about
- 24:07Speaker 2: it now because the book is out. Minor spoilers four
- 24:12Speaker 2: Into the Light. Avon is having this like push and
- 24:19Speaker 2: pull with her mother in that book, and so like
- 24:23Speaker 2: you see her like kind of deject her, but then
- 24:26Speaker 2: you see her like really like concerned for her and
- 24:28Speaker 2: things like that. And we all know Avon's mother super toxic.
- 24:34Speaker 2: She's a horrible human being. She doesn't deserve the love
- 24:37Speaker 2: that Avon still has for her. I'm gonna just say
- 24:40Speaker 2: it out loud. I was holding that in for a
- 24:42Speaker 2: long time. I need to get that off my chest.
- 24:45Speaker 2: So when I see that she is referenced as Sunbail,
- 24:50Speaker 2: she is letting go of her past and she is
- 24:53Speaker 2: being her own individual person. And that kind of like
- 24:56Speaker 2: warned my soul a little bit. Yeah. Getting to also
- 24:59Speaker 2: see that is it her grandson or her son?
- 25:07Speaker 3: That not really clear?
- 25:11Speaker 2: Oh well, no, it says here one of those people
- 25:13Speaker 2: was Felix's mother, Avon Sunvail, So it is Felix Sunbail
- 25:20Speaker 2: is one of the scientists here on this planet, and
- 25:27Speaker 2: he calls Vernestra. I really did enjoy that. Yeah, I
- 25:33Speaker 2: like that a.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Lot, and it showed how well Vernestra has grown over
- 25:39Speaker 3: the years to just be accepting of it and accept
- 25:43Speaker 3: it as a term of endearment that it is and
- 25:46Speaker 3: not like a downgrade on who she is. Yeah.
- 25:52Speaker 2: But speaking of Avon, how did you feel about Jay
- 25:59Speaker 2: six being in this book?
- 26:02Speaker 3: It took me a hot minute to recognize who J
- 26:06Speaker 3: six was because originally I was thinking he was that
- 26:13Speaker 3: J six was Elsar's droid Okay, that came up in
- 26:18Speaker 3: The Falling Star and has kind of followed him through
- 26:21Speaker 3: phase three, so I had to like figure that out.
- 26:28Speaker 3: But I loved that connection, especially like her little Rose
- 26:31Speaker 3: Gold moment and she was like, man, why is people
- 26:35Speaker 3: shooting at me? Do you know how hard Rose Gold
- 26:37Speaker 3: played against to come Bart.
- 26:40Speaker 2: I love. I love the line that's like I am
- 26:42Speaker 2: always shiny like she. I love it. She is more prominent,
- 26:50Speaker 2: I believe. Uh. I mean, well, the last place we
- 26:54Speaker 2: saw J six was the storm when Vern almost got
- 27:02Speaker 2: completely ripped to shreds by J six accidentally just opening
- 27:07Speaker 2: a door and Jay six literally just started shooting her
- 27:12Speaker 2: machine gun everywhere her blaster.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I figured out who she was and it didn't
- 27:18Speaker 3: take me super lit. It was like probably once they
- 27:24Speaker 3: got to Chorus Land, I would say, is where I
- 27:27Speaker 3: kind of figured it out. And I was like, okay,
- 27:29Speaker 3: I have to go look up J six because I
- 27:31Speaker 3: had to like put the droid's look in my head
- 27:34Speaker 3: as well.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Speaking of Chorus Hant, how did you feel about how
- 27:43Speaker 2: this story starts. The story starts, we learn, well, you
- 27:49Speaker 2: look at Alcolite the TV show, we see in Dara.
- 27:55Speaker 2: We know that she is a Jedi master away seeker
- 28:00Speaker 2: things like that. We learn who she is to start with,
- 28:06Speaker 2: she's a very closed off book nerd always in the archives,
- 28:11Speaker 2: very quiet. She has a pass and we'll get to
- 28:13Speaker 2: that later if necessary.
- 28:16Speaker 5: The past.
- 28:18Speaker 3: I don't feel like there's enough of the past for
- 28:21Speaker 3: Dara in this book.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Like yes, correct, No, she went with she.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Had a traumatic event happened to her because she did
- 28:31Speaker 3: want to do missions and she did want to be
- 28:33Speaker 3: outside the archives. But then she had a traumatic event
- 28:35Speaker 3: happened where she got stuck in the minds and was
- 28:40Speaker 3: down there for a week and was the only Jedi
- 28:43Speaker 3: to get rescued out of that bunch.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yes, the only one to survive.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Yeah, correct, And so that kind of sent her down
- 28:51Speaker 3: into the archives and Yaddle has been trying to get
- 28:54Speaker 3: her out other since. We also learned that she has
- 28:57Speaker 3: a traumatic past with her master, because like even with
- 29:01Speaker 3: her Jedi trials, and I think this is super important
- 29:03Speaker 3: to her characterization in the book, so that's why I'm
- 29:07Speaker 3: going into it. But like at her Jedi trials, like
- 29:11Speaker 3: right before she gets knighted, her Master came up to
- 29:14Speaker 3: her and flustered her for her robes being messy and
- 29:17Speaker 3: not pressed neatly, instead of congratulating her on passing her
- 29:22Speaker 3: trials and everything, and everything to her has just been like, oh,
- 29:27Speaker 3: like I can't take praise, like it just means like
- 29:30Speaker 3: I haven't done enough basically. Yeah, and I like where
- 29:37Speaker 3: it went. I don't think it went far enough for
- 29:41Speaker 3: it well.
- 29:41Speaker 2: And also there's a small thing that I don't like
- 29:45Speaker 2: about that is because of her traumatic experience, because we
- 29:51Speaker 2: were introduced to her as this kind of like quiet individual,
- 29:56Speaker 2: book nerd type of person, because she does talk a
- 29:59Speaker 2: lot about, like, you know, reading up on these papers
- 30:02Speaker 2: on Wreath, on Emory, like all of these individuals from
- 30:05Speaker 2: the of course High Republic phases that we've been reading.
- 30:09Speaker 2: There was one line at the very end I was like,
- 30:11Speaker 2: this is a little bit of a contradiction, but it's
- 30:13Speaker 2: so small I'm willing to bet most people will completely
- 30:17Speaker 2: bypass it because they're just you know, trying to finish
- 30:20Speaker 2: the book. There was a line in oh gosh, I
- 30:26Speaker 2: think it's like chapter thirty. It's like very late in
- 30:29Speaker 2: the book, where Indara tells Vernestra I've always thought it
- 30:37Speaker 2: was better to ask for forgiveness than for permission, So
- 30:40Speaker 2: I think we should go for the entire thirty pages
- 30:46Speaker 2: or thirty chapters that is not her character.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Yeah, So when she said.
- 30:52Speaker 2: That, I was like, m do you really think that
- 30:56Speaker 2: or are you just saying that to fit into this scenario.
- 31:01Speaker 3: And it feels like they said they said this in
- 31:06Speaker 3: regards to like, hey, like here's her growing, here's how
- 31:11Speaker 3: Verdnestra has helped her over the novel.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Okay, I could see that, but yeah.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Also like it just didn't feel like they went far
- 31:22Speaker 3: enough to like make that happen.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Yeah, because I think in retrospect, this book takes place
- 31:32Speaker 2: what do you think, like a couple of weeks.
- 31:34Speaker 3: And we're about to jump into our third ad y'all.
- 31:39Speaker 3: We promise we'll be right back. We promise.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Because there's there's a lot of traveling, yeah, to and
- 31:45Speaker 2: from planets. There's we get the the the hyperspace visions again,
- 31:51Speaker 2: that plays us somewhat of a big part of this novel.
- 31:54Speaker 2: I found that really interesting to go a little bit
- 31:57Speaker 2: deeper into that and how somehow the the visions have
- 32:02Speaker 2: now manifested into Stellin I thought was a really interesting
- 32:07Speaker 2: choice as well.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think we kind of saw that coming
- 32:13Speaker 3: in to five the Storm really because Mari Santeca was
- 32:17Speaker 3: like prominent there. But then you also had Stellin in
- 32:21Speaker 3: some of her visions, so I think it makes sense
- 32:26Speaker 3: to have Stellen be there, especially since he's the more
- 32:29Speaker 3: prominent character that she's attached to. I thought Imri might
- 32:34Speaker 3: make an appearance, but I liked where Imri was put in,
- 32:39Speaker 3: Like he turned into a philosopher for the Jedi Order.
- 32:42Speaker 3: He didn't like leave the Jedi Order, but he lived
- 32:45Speaker 3: as a philosopher, like his teachings live on in the
- 32:48Speaker 3: Jedi Temple, which I thought was super cool.
- 32:51Speaker 2: What did you think about in Dara's thoughts towards the
- 32:57Speaker 2: idea of having these of both Stellin and Emery in
- 33:05Speaker 2: Vernestra's ship, because she at one point tells Vernestra like,
- 33:10Speaker 2: aren't these like attachments? Isn't this something that the Order really,
- 33:16Speaker 2: you know, is against? And then Vernestra does say like, oh,
- 33:20Speaker 2: I'm still a proper Jedi. These aren't attachments. These are
- 33:25Speaker 2: more of just ways to go about life. Like she's
- 33:29Speaker 2: not she's not attached, she's not holding on hoping for something.
- 33:34Speaker 2: She's just like, hey, this is how I keep these
- 33:37Speaker 2: people in my memory type of thing.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Yeap, how do you feel? I really thought that was
- 33:43Speaker 3: an important distinction between Dara and for Nostra, because we've
- 33:47Speaker 3: seen how things have changed over the years for the
- 33:50Speaker 3: Jedi Ordered, not like in moments, but we know where
- 33:55Speaker 3: we are in the Higher Republic where Yoda was like,
- 33:58Speaker 3: oh lzar avar you guys one o fuck I dig
- 34:01Speaker 3: it kind of thing like to where we are in
- 34:05Speaker 3: the prequels. I mean, but like literally that's basically what
- 34:08Speaker 3: he said.
- 34:10Speaker 2: You're not wrong, uh, but just wording it like that,
- 34:15Speaker 2: it's it's just super hilarious. But what I was gonna
- 34:20Speaker 2: get at is when we open this book, they've and
- 34:27Speaker 2: when I say they, the Order and the Council has
- 34:32Speaker 2: reached out to Vernestra like ten times, and Estra is
- 34:36Speaker 2: just like, nah, not gonna answer you, or if I do,
- 34:41Speaker 2: I'm just gonna act like I can't like oh hyperspace, sorry,
- 34:46Speaker 2: I can't click.
- 34:47Speaker 3: Like that basically is how Ernestra is. And it's so
- 34:51Speaker 3: interesting to see because we had like or La Jarni,
- 34:54Speaker 3: who was like, oh yeah, like I'm a way seeker,
- 34:56Speaker 3: I don't have to listen to the council at all,
- 34:58Speaker 3: like good luck contact me. So now we have a
- 35:01Speaker 3: council who's like, yeah, no, I need you to come
- 35:05Speaker 3: back like you had a nice vacation, but like really
- 35:08Speaker 3: can you return?
- 35:11Speaker 2: And that was the whole point of how in Dara
- 35:13Speaker 2: even got into this entire mess is Yaddle was like, oh,
- 35:18Speaker 2: let's get in Dara to go find Vernestra and everything's fine.
- 35:26Speaker 2: I thought that was a little interesting again, just the
- 35:32Speaker 2: evolution of Vernestra seeing where she was, seeing her kind
- 35:39Speaker 2: of not necessarily devolve in the High Republic, but learn
- 35:45Speaker 2: how to still be a Jedi but still kind of
- 35:48Speaker 2: think for herself kind of thing to where we see
- 35:53Speaker 2: her now in Wait Seeker. I thought that was a
- 35:55Speaker 2: very interesting arc that we have now seen through Vernestra's life,
- 36:05Speaker 2: trying to think if there's anything else here, what.
- 36:08Speaker 3: Did you think of? And I don't really consider this
- 36:12Speaker 3: ending a spoiler because we see where Bernestra is at
- 36:15Speaker 3: in the act, I think, but basically so they get
- 36:21Speaker 3: the Nola Fiers taken care of. They destroy the factory
- 36:24Speaker 3: very like small conflict, like with big potential consequences if
- 36:29Speaker 3: Nolar Fiers were to get out into the galaxy.
- 36:33Speaker 2: I will say this very big let down as far
- 36:38Speaker 2: as the villain ending. But but but continue.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Well, no, let's go on that because the ending is
- 36:49Speaker 3: like we could talk about that second so basically want
- 36:54Speaker 3: to know. I don't want to say who was shooting everybody,
- 36:59Speaker 3: but yeah, like it feels like there could be more
- 37:03Speaker 3: consequences involved, but then everybody basically dies instead.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very much a like, hey, here's the big
- 37:14Speaker 2: villain and then like there was supposed to be the twist,
- 37:19Speaker 2: but then the twist literally happened, like it like you
- 37:23Speaker 2: see the twist and then like pages later, not chapters later,
- 37:29Speaker 2: literally pages later, the conflict is just over. It yeah, done,
- 37:34Speaker 2: and you're just like, uh, that was over very quickly, and.
- 37:41Speaker 3: It because it feels like basically it Yeah, I'm trying
- 37:49Speaker 3: to see if I could say this about spoilers, but
- 37:51Speaker 3: it really did make me mad. Okay, I will say this.
- 37:57Speaker 2: How about this? How about this, guys, fast forward five
- 38:02Speaker 2: minutes from now so that way Katie can get this
- 38:04Speaker 2: off her chest. Boss spoiler for the ending of this book. Okay,
- 38:09Speaker 2: Katie go.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Okay, So it felt very much like girl gave it.
- 38:16Speaker 3: It's like one of those like girl gave idea and
- 38:20Speaker 3: the boss takes it and runs with it. Like in turn,
- 38:23Speaker 3: girl gives idea, Boss takes all the credit for it
- 38:26Speaker 3: mm hmm. And so then the girl's like pissy when
- 38:31Speaker 3: it all goes wrong, like you can't do anything right.
- 38:34Speaker 2: It's a little bit of a well, I was gonna say,
- 38:36Speaker 2: it's a little bit of a stereotype there. This does
- 38:39Speaker 2: happen in many high action movies, heist movies, Like this
- 38:44Speaker 2: is something that is not new to the genre of
- 38:48Speaker 2: action adventure whatnot, right, Yeah, So when this happened, when
- 38:53Speaker 2: Nilsen is like, oh, I got you, and then the
- 38:56Speaker 2: blaster just shoots him, I was like, oh shit, we're
- 39:00Speaker 2: about to get the like the big twist. Cool. And
- 39:05Speaker 2: then she's like, oh, he could never do anything right.
- 39:09Speaker 2: She pulls the freaking gas like the poison grenade mm hmmm.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Vanessa runs out and then it's over, like there was. Yeah,
- 39:17Speaker 2: you don't even get any last words from that, like
- 39:21Speaker 2: that right hand woman or like you literally don't get anything.
- 39:25Speaker 2: It's just from Vernestra's perspective of her running out of
- 39:29Speaker 2: the mind to try to beat the gas, and we
- 39:33Speaker 2: just have to make the assumption that everybody just died.
- 39:37Speaker 2: I don't think Vvernestra actually like attacked her or anything.
- 39:41Speaker 2: I can't remember.
- 39:44Speaker 3: I feel like Indara took her out with a rock.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Yes, she did.
- 39:49Speaker 3: She did.
- 39:49Speaker 2: She did take her out with the.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Rock because that was like what Indara was doing when
- 39:56Speaker 3: the lights abers would go out. She would just pull
- 39:58Speaker 3: up a rock and up.
- 40:01Speaker 2: She did like kill somebody doing that though, Yeah, and
- 40:04Speaker 2: so she didn't feel good about it.
- 40:06Speaker 3: But yeah, who is I think it's Grissalda. Griselda's the
- 40:11Speaker 3: Pantoran woman who is like really mad at Nelson and everything,
- 40:16Speaker 3: and so she and uh the scientist who was from Ingay, Florina.
- 40:25Speaker 3: I think they both Florinda. Yes, they both end up
- 40:31Speaker 3: on trial for the Republican They're like, oh yeah, Vernesa's like,
- 40:34Speaker 3: oh yeah, they're gonna get what they deserve, Like this
- 40:36Speaker 3: is what like it's not the Jedi's job to prosecute
- 40:41Speaker 3: these people, like it's the Republic's job. And that I
- 40:44Speaker 3: think kind of gets her to the ending point. And
- 40:50Speaker 3: I know they had to get Bernestra to that office,
- 40:54Speaker 3: I know they did, but I also felt like it
- 40:58Speaker 3: seemed rushed. I know this was a transitional novel at
- 41:02Speaker 3: the end of the day, and that's what had to happen. Yeah,
- 41:06Speaker 3: it just felt a little weird and this should be
- 41:09Speaker 3: our final ad break. So y'all, thanks for bearing with us.
- 41:13Speaker 3: We appreciate y'all. We'll be right back.
- 41:16Speaker 2: And I was upset at the ending. I can bypass
- 41:23Speaker 2: that knowing that, like, like you said, this is just like, hey,
- 41:29Speaker 2: we need to show these stories to get these characters
- 41:34Speaker 2: where they need to be by the time Acolyte Timeline
- 41:39Speaker 2: is there, right, so, I know everybody was hoping that
- 41:45Speaker 2: we would see, you know, more of Vernestra and her
- 41:50Speaker 2: padawan that we of course see in Accolade and everything else.
- 41:55Speaker 2: It's it's nice.
- 41:55Speaker 3: He's mentioned, not by name, but he's mentioned.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Yeah, he is mentioned, very very small mention.
- 42:06Speaker 3: You're going to have to go back and edit. How
- 42:08Speaker 3: long you tell them to skip forward?
- 42:11Speaker 2: Oh no, no, no it was it was at thirty seven,
- 42:13Speaker 2: thirty eight one. We're still we're still in the five minutes.
- 42:18Speaker 2: We're good.
- 42:20Speaker 3: So yeah, no, I can't appreciate where they where. They
- 42:30Speaker 3: mentioned Kime here, but then don't mention Kime here. I
- 42:34Speaker 3: would like to see that though, if we're not going
- 42:38Speaker 3: to get it on screen, I would like a novel, please,
- 42:42Speaker 3: and thank you.
- 42:47Speaker 2: I don't want to say one thing before before uh
- 42:50Speaker 2: talking about mentions and everything else. We forgot to mention
- 42:54Speaker 2: this character from the High Republic. I won't say who
- 42:58Speaker 2: it is because this one actually had me a little
- 43:01Speaker 2: bit of a jaw drop moment. Uh, there is a
- 43:05Speaker 2: bounty hunter that is here in this book.
- 43:12Speaker 3: I figured that was coming.
- 43:14Speaker 2: I had an inkling because I had I had the
- 43:18Speaker 2: inkling because they refused to say the name when he
- 43:23Speaker 2: asked for it. He's like, oh, and what's your name again?
- 43:27Speaker 2: And she didn't even she like totally changed the subject
- 43:30Speaker 2: or something. I can't remember what her exact words were,
- 43:32Speaker 2: and I was like, it couldn't be. I was like,
- 43:35Speaker 2: there's no way, there's no no.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I totally saw it coming. So okay with the ending,
- 43:46Speaker 3: I like that. Protesstra is also very much like she
- 43:51Speaker 3: wants to be able to teach the Jedi like Igdara,
- 43:54Speaker 3: about more of the world and that it's okay to
- 43:57Speaker 3: go outside the bounds of the Jedi Temple and that
- 44:02Speaker 3: being your own life is important. And I really actually
- 44:05Speaker 3: like that. Dara's like, Hey, I would like your blessing
- 44:10Speaker 3: to the Council to go be a way seeker. And
- 44:16Speaker 3: I don't think she did that very long, but it
- 44:21Speaker 3: makes sense. I think for Dara to be a way
- 44:24Speaker 3: seeker after this, I find it interesting that Vernestra wanted
- 44:33Speaker 3: to be the intermediary between the Senate and the High
- 44:38Speaker 3: Council for the Jedi. What did you think about that?
- 44:41Speaker 3: I mean, we figured it based on the Acolyte that
- 44:44Speaker 3: she was like some sort of ambassador because she was
- 44:47Speaker 3: taking all of this and communicating with the Senators and whatnot.
- 44:52Speaker 3: But what did you think about that decision for her?
- 44:54Speaker 4: At the end of this, I thought, it's well, again,
- 45:02Speaker 4: I think it's a nice bow to get these characters
- 45:06Speaker 4: where they need to be.
- 45:07Speaker 2: For the Acolyte, For Vernestra herself, I think that it
- 45:15Speaker 2: is a nice like we have seen her through so much,
- 45:22Speaker 2: right through the very beginning of the High Republic, through
- 45:29Speaker 2: the Rising Storm, her the fall of Stellin, all of
- 45:35Speaker 2: these different things. Even though it was a happy moment,
- 45:38Speaker 2: is a little bit of a sad moment with Emory,
- 45:40Speaker 2: Like we've seen all of these moments, and really she
- 45:47Speaker 2: has had nothing but quote unquote losses when we are
- 45:53Speaker 2: what when we are reading Vernestra, there's never really a
- 45:56Speaker 2: win here. Again, just I again, I love Star Wars
- 46:04Speaker 2: for this exact reason, and I'm at best even said
- 46:10Speaker 2: it at celebration today, and I'm gonna say it again
- 46:14Speaker 2: even though I've already said it in the end of
- 46:16Speaker 2: the Light review. The main point of Star Wars, the
- 46:25Speaker 2: one thing that every Star Wars story should get you
- 46:28Speaker 2: back to, is hope.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Yep.
- 46:32Speaker 2: So with Vernestra taking this position, there is a glimmer
- 46:40Speaker 2: of hope, especially with what her last words were, and
- 46:46Speaker 2: it specifically says because at this point it is in
- 46:49Speaker 2: the perspective of Indara. She says, I have no idea
- 46:55Speaker 2: if she was talking to me or if she was
- 46:58Speaker 2: saying it in general, for you know, every Jedi after her,
- 47:08Speaker 2: you can always be the light. So we see this
- 47:10Speaker 2: glimmer of hope from Vernestra again. You see her in
- 47:15Speaker 2: the Acolyte. She's probably not had a lot of wins
- 47:20Speaker 2: in that position. It's probably very frustrating. Politics, as we know,
- 47:25Speaker 2: can be very frustrating, very stressful. And I'm willing to
- 47:30Speaker 2: bet guys that if the Acolyte would have continued, we
- 47:34Speaker 2: would have seen more hope. I'm just gonna say it, Okay,
- 47:37Speaker 2: I'm just gonna say it. We probably would have seen
- 47:39Speaker 2: Vernestra in lighter days. There would have been darker days.
- 47:42Speaker 2: For sure, we probably would have seen a lot of
- 47:44Speaker 2: those darker days, but there would have been some light
- 47:46Speaker 2: days too. So I do think that that is the
- 47:51Speaker 2: reason why that this moment is in that book is
- 47:55Speaker 2: to again circle back to the main point of Star Wars,
- 47:59Speaker 2: of Hey, there needs to be a glimmer of hope.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Here's that glimmer of hope, not only for in Dear
- 48:05Speaker 2: but also for Venestra.
- 48:08Speaker 3: Absolutely, like you, like everybody needs that hope. And it's
- 48:13Speaker 3: not just something that needs to exist in Star Wars,
- 48:15Speaker 3: but like romance, like mystery, like whatever it may be,
- 48:20Speaker 3: there needs to be a hope filled end in some
- 48:24Speaker 3: way shape or for me, it could be miniscule, but
- 48:26Speaker 3: it could also be very big. And so getting that
- 48:30Speaker 3: little bit, especially that well done Padawan at the end
- 48:33Speaker 3: of this, because we know after this Vernestra really does
- 48:36Speaker 3: not make a trip outside of Corosson, So does she
- 48:40Speaker 3: continue to have visions in this twenty six year period
- 48:45Speaker 3: between now and Accolyte, Like that's what kind of intrigues me,
- 48:53Speaker 3: and hopefully, who knows, we may see her in Tessa
- 48:57Speaker 3: Gratton's Crystal Crown in July.
- 49:03Speaker 6: Oh yeah, that is true, But I think that is
- 49:11Speaker 6: it without going into even more detail over this book.
- 49:16Speaker 2: Like you always say, we want you guys to experience
- 49:20Speaker 2: these books on your own. We did have a little
- 49:25Speaker 2: fun with spoiling some stuff there. Like I said, with
- 49:29Speaker 2: this podcast being just under an hour, I say just
- 49:37Speaker 2: under an hour, it's probably gonna be like fifty three
- 49:39Speaker 2: minutes or so between the minutes of like thirty seven
- 49:44Speaker 2: and forty two. There's some spoiler talk there, so you know,
- 49:49Speaker 2: you already know, you've already gotten to this point. You
- 49:51Speaker 2: already know. But we want you guys to enjoy these books.
- 49:55Speaker 2: And it's okay if you don't enjoy them. Even though
- 50:00Speaker 2: and Katie didn't enjoy all of it, we were still
- 50:03Speaker 2: able to see moments that we did enjoy, and I
- 50:06Speaker 2: think that's really important when you have these types of books.
- 50:10Speaker 3: I'm all about having that little bit of faith exactly.
- 50:13Speaker 2: It's all about hope and I am you know we
- 50:19Speaker 2: I will always finish a book for our reviews. I
- 50:22Speaker 2: will never dnf a book. But that does not mean
- 50:25Speaker 2: that I'm telling you, hey, you have to finish this book.
- 50:30Speaker 2: So if you are, I will say this. If you're
- 50:35Speaker 2: always hesitant on whether you want to read a book,
- 50:38Speaker 2: or not always try it digitally first.
- 50:43Speaker 3: And this should be our final ad break. So y'all,
- 50:47Speaker 3: thanks for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be
- 50:50Speaker 3: right back.
- 50:52Speaker 2: Or an audiobook so that way you know you're not
- 50:56Speaker 2: spending too much money that of like a hardcover or
- 50:59Speaker 2: a trade paperback.
- 51:01Speaker 3: So I did forget this. Okay, what do you think
- 51:06Speaker 3: about just Eva's last book for Star Wars besides Valiant
- 51:12Speaker 3: val this is her second to last book.
- 51:17Speaker 2: Oh, this is her second to last book. I think
- 51:25Speaker 2: this is gonna be a little harsh, and I'm sorry,
- 51:27Speaker 2: just you know, after this book, I really need Valiant
- 51:32Speaker 2: Vow to hit like I really needed to hit home
- 51:38Speaker 2: this I told you in the very beginning when I
- 51:42Speaker 2: first started reading. I started reading it before you. It
- 51:46Speaker 2: had a little bit of a struggling start. I think
- 51:51Speaker 2: that there, like I said, there are moments that really
- 51:54Speaker 2: get me excited and flustered. And it's more so again
- 51:59Speaker 2: because of the history that I have with these characters.
- 52:03Speaker 2: And like you said, that doesn't look too good when
- 52:08Speaker 2: you're excited more about what could have been rather than
- 52:12Speaker 2: what is what you're actually reading right now. So I
- 52:17Speaker 2: still have faith that High Republic is going to end
- 52:22Speaker 2: on a very good note in the sense of like
- 52:26Speaker 2: it's successful, not necessarily like, hey, it's gonna be all
- 52:31Speaker 2: rainbows and sunshine at the end of Trials of Jedi,
- 52:33Speaker 2: because I don't think that's gonna be that way whatsoever.
- 52:38Speaker 2: But with Justina in particular, I remember, like guys, in
- 52:47Speaker 2: the hospital after amber Lyn was born, I was literally
- 52:54Speaker 2: trying to stay awake while reading the advanced reader copy
- 53:00Speaker 2: Path of Deceit like I was there, like, and I
- 53:05Speaker 2: remember Justina liking the post. I was like, you know,
- 53:07Speaker 2: even after my daughter is born, I still find time
- 53:11Speaker 2: too to put Star Wars into my life. I think
- 53:15Speaker 2: she has done really cool things for the High Republic.
- 53:19Speaker 2: Everybody has a miss sometimes and it's totally fine.
- 53:22Speaker 3: Yeah you can't. Everything can't be a plus exactly. Okay, Yes,
- 53:30Speaker 3: I still really enjoyed the just okay, I still really
- 53:33Speaker 3: enjoyed this book. I think it makes sense that this
- 53:36Speaker 3: was an adult book versus a young adult book. I know,
- 53:40Speaker 3: maybe this was also Justina's first step into adult I
- 53:43Speaker 3: can't remember she's written. She's not written any adult Star Wars.
- 53:46Speaker 3: She's mainly stuck to young adult in middle grade. I
- 53:51Speaker 3: still think this was a decent book. I had a
- 53:54Speaker 3: lot of fun with it. I do hope value val hits.
- 53:57Speaker 3: I know Ibery is back. I'm so excited I did.
- 54:02Speaker 6: So.
- 54:02Speaker 3: Yeah, Clay, tell us where they can find you.
- 54:04Speaker 2: Of course, you can always find me at Fanboy, play
