- 3:02to tell them. Sunny mornings send you. In local
- 3:07news, Boston homeowners are bracing for a dramatic
- 3:1113 percent spike in taxes next month, prompting
- 3:14Mayor Michelle Wu to urge lawmakers and residents
- 3:17to resolve a months -long stalemate. over her
- 3:20proposed solution. This tax hike represents a
- 3:24cumulative 34 % increase since 2023 for residential
- 3:29taxpayers. Meanwhile, commercial properties,
- 3:33which drive Boston's tax revenue, will experience
- 3:36one of their lowest tax shares in decades due
- 3:39to a 6 % value decline. Wu's bill, currently
- 3:43stalled in the state Senate, aims to temporarily
- 3:46exceed state tax limits. and shifts some burden
- 3:50from homeowners to commercial landlords. Without
- 3:53legislative action by January, the average single
- 3:56-family homeowner faces a $780 increase instead
- 4:01of $480 under Wu's cap proposal. Now on to sports.
- 4:12Notre Dame has taken its ball and gone home,
- 4:15and everyone is worse off for it. The 10 -2 Fighting
- 4:19Irish announced they would not accept a bowl
- 4:22bid after being the first team left out of the
- 4:25college football playoff field. But this move
- 4:27is short -sighted and embarrassing, removing
- 4:30any sympathy fans may have had for the Irish.
- 4:34It is hard to see how this decision helps their
- 4:36chances for the 12th national title in 2026.
- 4:41The Irish are giving up valuable bowl practice
- 4:43time. despite having a promising team with bright
- 4:46young players. This disappointing choice reflects
- 4:50poorly on the program's legacy in college football.
- 4:55In Local Sports Last night, the Blues hosted
- 4:59the Bruins in their final regular season meeting,
- 5:02with the Bruins winning 5 -2, sweeping the season
- 5:05series. Robert Thomas opened the scoring for
- 5:08the Blues on a power play. But Fraser Minton
- 5:11and Mark Castellac rallied for the Bruins in
- 5:14the second period, giving them a 2 -1 lead at
- 5:17intermission. The third period saw Minton score
- 5:20again, along with Castellac, while Pavel Zakha
- 5:24sealed the victory with a late goal. The Bruins
- 5:27outshot the Blues for the game, 31 -26. Next,
- 5:32the Bruins faced the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday
- 5:35night. In top news, How many dog treats is too
- 5:41many for your pup? We asked veterinarians for
- 5:44guidance on this question. Everyone loves to
- 5:47spoil their pet with toys and treats, but too
- 5:50many treats can interfere with a dog's core diet.
- 5:54Experts recommend that treats should make up
- 5:56no more than 10 % of a pet's daily calorie intake.
- 6:01When choosing treats, look for those that clearly
- 6:04state the number of calories and ingredients.
- 6:07Additionally, consider the size of the treat,
- 6:10ensuring it is proportional to your dog's size
- 6:12to avoid choking hazards. In business news, silver
- 6:19prices have just smashed a new record, with a
- 6:22precious metals value roughly doubling since
- 6:25the start of the year, far outpacing stocks,
- 6:28gold, and cryptocurrencies. On Tuesday, silver
- 6:32broke a fresh record, rising above $60 per troy
- 6:36ounce on New York's commodity exchange for the
- 6:39first time ever. Analysts attribute this surge
- 6:42to a mix of factors, including a weakened dollar,
- 6:46tariff politics, and supply shortages. With industrial
- 6:51demand soaring and technological changes driving
- 6:54usage, demand is greater than supply every year.
- 6:58The silver boom is boosting mining companies
- 7:01with notable stock price increases across major
- 7:04firms. In crypto movement, Bitcoin is up 3 %
- 7:09to about $93 ,000. Ethereum is up 7 % to just
- 7:16over $3 ,300. And XRP is up 1 % to $2 .08. Moving
