- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt flynn'sday.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Hester and Hester got it fin ont a fat.
- 0:08Speaker 1: From carrying each other to and Natty to carrying each
- 0:11Speaker 1: other on the air.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Were there's back Control Live from the Raising Kine studio.
- 0:19Speaker 2: It's Off the Bench.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Welcome in our number three here on a Monday edition
- 0:42Speaker 3: of Off the Bench. Taylor Shar for Ladravillarrial Braxton, Risuto
- 0:46Speaker 3: all along with you here on this Monday morning. We've
- 0:49Speaker 3: had a jam pack show pretty much baseball about eighty
- 0:54Speaker 3: percent of the show. We squeeze in a little LSU
- 0:55Speaker 3: and Saints football, but for the majority it has been
- 0:58Speaker 3: LSU baseball, and rightfully so.
- 1:00Speaker 4: The Tigers put up a heck of a lot of runs.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Landra mentioned earlier forty nine strikeouts over the first three games,
- 1:05Speaker 3: and that is a program record as well. So at
- 1:08Speaker 3: times they have looked dominant over the Milwaukee Panthers. They
- 1:12Speaker 3: will take one the Kent State Golden Flashes tonight, Kent
- 1:16Speaker 3: State three and oh, by the way, three wins over
- 1:19Speaker 3: the Southeastern Lions. So a little bit step up in
- 1:21Speaker 3: competition for the Tigers, but they should get this one done.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Coming up.
- 1:26Speaker 3: We're gonna weekend winners here in just the second Devin
- 1:29Speaker 3: Snow had to be tabled to tomorrow's He'll join us
- 1:32Speaker 3: tomorrow nine to fifteen. He had to push that back.
- 1:35Speaker 3: So we'll talk a little women's basketball. We got some
- 1:39Speaker 3: news a team has moved up into the FCS ranks
- 1:43Speaker 3: from the FBS level, so they are moving up a
- 1:45Speaker 3: level in competition as effective as of next football season.
- 1:48Speaker 3: So we'll get into all of that, and then we'll
- 1:51Speaker 3: close it out as we do every day, with a
- 1:53Speaker 3: little ass the bench. We got women's basketball coming up
- 1:55Speaker 3: right now, though we do it every Monday around this time,
- 1:58Speaker 3: Let's do some weekend winners.
- 2:01Speaker 2: That's how win it has done. That's right.
- 2:04Speaker 5: We can't have anyone to freak out out there.
- 2:06Speaker 6: Okay, he's got a k bark apologer got too far.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I'm by winning. I went here and I win there.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Now, what are you doing what it takes to win
- 2:18Speaker 5: a championship?
- 2:19Speaker 7: Wow?
- 2:19Speaker 2: Winning?
- 2:21Speaker 7: Well, then I guess there's only one thing left to do.
- 2:25Speaker 4: What's that.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Win the whole thing?
- 2:31Speaker 4: All right?
- 2:31Speaker 3: Weekend winners? Who wants to go first? If not, I
- 2:35Speaker 3: will go.
- 2:37Speaker 7: I was just gonna give a week in winner to
- 2:38Speaker 7: the LSU baseball program as a whole. I mean, you
- 2:43Speaker 7: outscored Milwaukee forty one to fifteen this weekend.
- 2:47Speaker 8: So for the people that.
- 2:48Speaker 7: Were, you know how people are, there's always gonna be
- 2:52Speaker 7: like a group of people that are like, well they
- 2:54Speaker 7: just that.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Wasn't enough, you know, I saw I saw it after
- 2:57Speaker 3: the five three Saturday.
- 2:58Speaker 8: It's a little too close. Okay, let's relax, let's chill out.
- 3:02Speaker 7: But like the the score over the whole entire weekend,
- 3:07Speaker 7: I feel like tells the story. You had an extremely
- 3:10Speaker 7: productive offense this weekend and an extremely effective and efficient
- 3:15Speaker 7: bullpen as well. So just a overall weekend winner to
- 3:19Speaker 7: the entire baseball program and opening weekend as a whole
- 3:24Speaker 7: practicing what you got.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Let's see.
- 3:25Speaker 6: So I wasn't gona bring up the LSUS Softballs a loser,
- 3:29Speaker 6: but I figured you had to lose this. I was
- 3:30Speaker 6: gonna bring up a winner. So for the All Star Game,
- 3:33Speaker 6: you had it. We had a different format this time.
- 3:35Speaker 1: You had your.
- 3:37Speaker 4: World versus your story.
- 3:38Speaker 6: The stars were put up, I mean, the USA was
- 3:40Speaker 6: built up in the two teams your stars and stripes.
- 3:42Speaker 6: And so the MVP of the All Star is Anthony Edwards.
- 3:46Speaker 6: He had thirty two points in total of the All
- 3:49Speaker 6: Star weekend. That was probably, I guess, the most entertaining part,
- 3:52Speaker 6: just because I mean, the Dunk Contest three point contest,
- 3:55Speaker 6: it's not the same anymore. It's it's nothing really special.
- 3:58Speaker 6: I didn't look at the I didn't watch it all.
- 4:00Speaker 6: The Dunk Contest they get the most random players in it.
- 4:04Speaker 6: But I guess the All Star All Star Game kind
- 4:07Speaker 6: of made up for everything.
- 4:08Speaker 4: What's the celebrity game?
- 4:10Speaker 3: Ivan Tacko fall on your team at seven foot six
- 4:12Speaker 3: seems like an unfair advantage. The guy had twenty six
- 4:15Speaker 3: rebounds and his team obviously won.
- 4:18Speaker 4: I don't I don't love that. Maybe make him sit
- 4:20Speaker 4: that out.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Wee can loser for me is the NBA Dunk Contest
- 4:24Speaker 3: like the user games I see people do with ease
- 4:27Speaker 3: in games like we just run out of ideas of
- 4:29Speaker 3: the Dunk Contest. If that's fine, you can repeat. You
- 4:32Speaker 3: could repeat it dunkins. It's not a big deal. Do
- 4:34Speaker 3: something with a little bit of difficulty. I mean I
- 4:37Speaker 3: watched the first round. I turned it off after the
- 4:39Speaker 3: first round. I don't even see who won, how impressive
- 4:42Speaker 3: their donk was. Didn't care the first round completely turned
- 4:45Speaker 3: me off. But my first weekend winner. If anybody out
- 4:48Speaker 3: there did not see this, Baylor played New Mexico.
- 4:52Speaker 4: State over the weekend.
- 4:54Speaker 3: They got the win on Friday night and blowout fashion.
- 4:57Speaker 3: And the reason they got that winner, A big reason
- 5:00Speaker 3: why was first baseman Tys Armstrong. Tyson Armstrong hit not one,
- 5:06Speaker 3: not two, but three Grand slams in the same game.
- 5:10Speaker 4: That is the first time.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Anyone wondering how long that's happened, first time in fifty years.
- 5:15Speaker 3: So Louisville's jim La Fountain hit three, two of them
- 5:19Speaker 3: actually in the same inning way back in nineteen seventy
- 5:22Speaker 3: six against Western Kentucky. Has not happened again. So he
- 5:27Speaker 3: three grand slams twelve RBI. Only thirteen major league players
- 5:32Speaker 3: ever have hit two Grand slams in the same game,
- 5:35Speaker 3: and nobody's done that since two thousand and nine. So
- 5:37Speaker 3: whether it's college, whether it's professional, you can kind of
- 5:41Speaker 3: see how rare that was. I don't know if anybody
- 5:43Speaker 3: saw that, but I mean they were no doubters too.
- 5:45Speaker 3: I think the first one was four hundred and seven
- 5:48Speaker 3: feet so it was quite a bit on that one.
- 5:51Speaker 3: And yeah, I mean, obviously they win that game like
- 5:55Speaker 3: sixteen seventeen to two wound up being the final score.
- 5:58Speaker 3: But Tyson Armstrong a bad way to kick off your
- 6:02Speaker 3: twenty twenty six baseball season opening night. Three Grand slams
- 6:06Speaker 3: for our guy, Tys Armstrong, my first weekend winner.
- 6:12Speaker 7: I'm gonna go weekend winner Nebraska softball. They beat Texas
- 6:16Speaker 7: Tech yesterday, which if you know anything about Texas Tech softball,
- 6:20Speaker 7: you know they got a million dollar pitcher. Million dollar
- 6:22Speaker 7: pitcher is not gonna do too much for you, though,
- 6:24Speaker 7: if you can't get everything else done. And I think
- 6:27Speaker 7: that was the first time that Kennedy gave up two
- 6:31Speaker 7: back to back extra base hits ever in her career.
- 6:35Speaker 4: The first time Jesus that she.
- 6:37Speaker 7: Gave up back to back extra base hits. So I'm
- 6:39Speaker 7: sure she's gave up some hits before, but extra base hits.
- 6:43Speaker 7: They hit a home run and then like a double
- 6:45Speaker 7: off of her. So Nebraska softball looks like they're gonna
- 6:49Speaker 7: be a problem for a lot of people this season.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:52Speaker 7: They I mean, they didn't have a perfect weekend at
- 6:54Speaker 7: the Invitational, but they look pretty good.
- 6:57Speaker 4: They did.
- 6:57Speaker 3: They win that invitational overall. I mean, everybody like wins
- 7:01Speaker 3: the invitation.
- 7:02Speaker 8: I thing maybe I don't know, they keep it.
- 7:04Speaker 6: On the softball side. Your loser could be LSU softball.
- 7:07Speaker 6: I mean they had a good start. I guess they
- 7:10Speaker 6: didn't play anybody too special. The one even have a
- 7:13Speaker 6: good start, but they were winning.
- 7:17Speaker 8: Won one game.
- 7:18Speaker 6: It wasn't even that good. No, but like they lost
- 7:21Speaker 6: to Nebraska zero to six. Oklahoma State they won that one. However,
- 7:25Speaker 6: they lost a Duke UCF and then they got shut
- 7:28Speaker 6: out by u C l A.
- 7:29Speaker 4: Yeah, well, we'll actually get into that next segment.
- 7:33Speaker 7: You and like what I said at the beginning of
- 7:35Speaker 7: the season that I thought was going to be a problem,
- 7:37Speaker 7: it's the bullpen. I don't know why you can't have
- 7:39Speaker 7: like more than one or two pitchers that can give
- 7:43Speaker 7: you a great game. But it's and then when your
- 7:46Speaker 7: bullpen's not being productive, and then you have an offense
- 7:49Speaker 7: that goes cold.
- 7:50Speaker 8: For some reason at some points, it's not gonna be
- 7:53Speaker 8: a good It's not gonna be good for you.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean what they their only win was there
- 7:57Speaker 3: only any sort of life on offense that they had
- 8:00Speaker 3: all weekend long. Rerex and I put up a video
- 8:04Speaker 3: just a second ago. You can play it now. Don't
- 8:05Speaker 3: need it with sound or anything. My weekend loser is
- 8:08Speaker 3: going to be the Canada curling team. One of their
- 8:13Speaker 3: one of their players, was flagged by an official for
- 8:18Speaker 3: pushing the rock with his finger after he let it go,
- 8:22Speaker 3: and I mean he goes on a he goes on
- 8:25Speaker 3: a tirade of of what it of Like he's talking
- 8:32Speaker 3: back to the officials saying he didn't do it. That's
- 8:34Speaker 3: the guy right there, and the official says, you know,
- 8:38Speaker 3: point black, I didn't want to play it because he's
- 8:40Speaker 3: yelling expletives as the rule expert talks to it.
- 8:44Speaker 4: You could see it right here.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I mean he extends the finger, pushes it, so they
- 8:49Speaker 3: penalized him for it. That role didn't count. Sends being
- 8:52Speaker 3: called out by the official. That same guy for Canada
- 8:55Speaker 3: has actually done that again and again their role didn't count.
- 8:59Speaker 3: I don't know if he's going to be disqualified for
- 9:02Speaker 3: the remainder of the Olympics or what, but he's done
- 9:05Speaker 3: it multiple times. You see right there, the extra push
- 9:07Speaker 3: with the finger, and then you know he started yelling
- 9:10Speaker 3: at the official, you know, fu f this and you
- 9:15Speaker 3: know I've never touched it.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Why would you even say I did that?
- 9:17Speaker 3: And I mean it's it's clear as day, and they
- 9:20Speaker 3: went back and looked and he's actually done it multiple times.
- 9:22Speaker 3: So leave it to our dirty little brothers up there
- 9:25Speaker 3: in the Great White North to cheat in the Olympics
- 9:28Speaker 3: of all sports. But I mean you could see right there.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I mean he clearly gives it a little bit of
- 9:32Speaker 3: extra push there with his fingers. So first weekend loser
- 9:35Speaker 3: for me, the Canada men's curling team.
- 9:40Speaker 8: All right, I don't have any more.
- 9:42Speaker 3: So my next weekend winner is going to be USA hockey.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Have you guys seen what they've been doing in the
- 9:50Speaker 3: in the Olympics right now. So USA hockey a perfect
- 9:54Speaker 3: three and ohero in the Olympics right now. They'll play
- 9:57Speaker 3: the quarterfinal round coming up on one Wednesday night. They
- 10:02Speaker 3: are not just winning, they are dominating teams and coming
- 10:06Speaker 3: into the Olympics, I mean, I'm sure a lot of people,
- 10:09Speaker 3: you know, even if you're not that in touch with
- 10:11Speaker 3: with hockey, you watched the four Nations faceoff last year,
- 10:13Speaker 3: the electric battles between the US and Canada, and I'm
- 10:16Speaker 3: sure a lot of you got into it.
- 10:17Speaker 4: I know I did.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Coming into the Olympics, a lot of people said last
- 10:21Speaker 3: year's team was better than this year. I would have
- 10:23Speaker 3: to thoroughly disagree. I mean, they beat Latvia on Thursday
- 10:27Speaker 3: five to one, when Saturday they take down Denmark six
- 10:30Speaker 3: to three, and that was a game Denmark got off
- 10:32Speaker 3: to a hot start. US wasn't an issue though, and
- 10:35Speaker 3: then yesterday against Germany they have another dominant five to
- 10:39Speaker 3: one victory. So I mean three dominant performances in a
- 10:43Speaker 3: row from USA Hockey, giving up just four goals total
- 10:47Speaker 3: in three games and scoring sixteen, So you've outscored your
- 10:51Speaker 3: opponents sixteen to five in the first three games of
- 10:54Speaker 3: this Olympics.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Again.
- 10:55Speaker 3: You will play the quarterfinals on Wednesday, to be determined
- 10:58Speaker 3: on when the opponent is but it will take place
- 11:02Speaker 3: Wednesday afternoon around four o'clock our time, so probably be
- 11:06Speaker 3: locked into that. But weekend winner for me USA Hockey
- 11:09Speaker 3: and also USA Hockey uniforms like I don't know if
- 11:12Speaker 3: anybody's looked at these the white ones, they have have
- 11:15Speaker 3: not changed a ton since you look at that incredible
- 11:18Speaker 3: miracle on ice team that beat the Soviet Union way
- 11:21Speaker 3: back in you know, they need the movie Miracle about
- 11:24Speaker 3: it to win Olympic gold. But they haven't changed a
- 11:26Speaker 3: whole lot since then, and I just think they're iconic,
- 11:29Speaker 3: iconic uniforms.
- 11:30Speaker 4: I mean, great job by whoever designed those.
- 11:32Speaker 3: They've kept them going all these years, but excellent job
- 11:35Speaker 3: all the way around the Unicombos. The performance US is
- 11:39Speaker 3: looking really good in the Olympics as a whole right now,
- 11:42Speaker 3: but USA Hockey obviously carrying their weight.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Does anybody else have anything?
- 11:48Speaker 6: I'm just looking through city college basketball. I know that Arizona,
- 11:53Speaker 6: number one team in the country, lost back to back. Yeah,
- 11:54Speaker 6: I lost to Kansas and a big one without Dan Peterson.
- 12:00Speaker 4: And the Texas.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a big time weekend lose.
- 12:04Speaker 3: I mean a lot of people thought that Arizona was
- 12:06Speaker 3: going to be the dominant team in college basketball and
- 12:08Speaker 3: it's two games. They they still maybe, but to lose
- 12:11Speaker 3: to Kansas without Darren Peterson, who's going to be a
- 12:13Speaker 3: top five pick and next year's NBA.
- 12:14Speaker 6: Draft, I mean, he just doesn't play, I know.
- 12:17Speaker 3: But I mean that's everybody is saying, play a lottery pick.
- 12:21Speaker 6: He played against Iowa State on Saturday. They lost by
- 12:25Speaker 6: eighteen with Darreon Peterson. But I mean, I mean.
- 12:28Speaker 3: They look it's something that everybody else sees that that
- 12:31Speaker 3: maybe we don't. I mean, every every NBA scout, every analyst,
- 12:35Speaker 3: all this says a lottery pick.
- 12:38Speaker 4: And uh, all right, that's.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Gonna do it for our weekend winners. When we get back,
- 12:43Speaker 3: We're gonna we're gonna double up on women's sports.
- 12:46Speaker 4: We are going to talk L s U Versus.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Uh, Well, everybody over there in the Shriners clear Water Classic.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Not a great weekend for your LSU softball team. They
- 12:55Speaker 3: played five games over a three day period. Will break
- 12:57Speaker 3: all that down, and then we'll recap L s U
- 12:59Speaker 3: Versus South Carolina women's basketball that occurred on Saturday night.
- 13:02Speaker 3: That's all coming up next here on Off the bench.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Off the bench, go to.
- 13:06Speaker 5: Valley's Vendors Casino and Hotel, the brand new star of
- 13:10Speaker 5: downtown Baton Rouge. It is brand new and sure like
- 13:14Speaker 5: the outside of the building somewhat might be the same,
- 13:18Speaker 5: that's the only thing that is the same.
- 13:20Speaker 4: When you walk in, you'll be blown away.
- 13:22Speaker 5: They have got Vegas style gaming all over the place
- 13:26Speaker 5: right when you walk in. On the casino floor, they've
- 13:28Speaker 5: got new slot machines. They have got a brand new
- 13:31Speaker 5: Draftings sportsbook with an incredible bar that butts up to
- 13:35Speaker 5: this biggest TV I think you've ever seen in your life.
- 13:38Speaker 5: They've got a brand new hotel. Every room got an upgrade.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Everything got an upgrade.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Go check it out.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Valley's of Vanaries casino in hotel.
- 13:45Speaker 9: That's right, it is. It is Friday, it is the weekend.
- 13:49Speaker 9: If you're looking for something to do. If you're in
- 13:51Speaker 9: Baton Ruis the Banderies area, looking for something to do
- 13:53Speaker 9: with your friends, with your spouse, whatever it is, little
- 13:57Speaker 9: date night, go to Valleys of Bannaries, Benderies. You got
- 13:59Speaker 9: an upgrade twenty five a square foot game and facility.
- 14:01Speaker 9: Beautiful hotel and restaurants right there. Valley's and bet Rooms.
- 14:15Speaker 1: From the locker room to the airwaves. Gets off the
- 14:18Speaker 1: bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 14:21Speaker 5: We all know hard work not just a slogan, it's
- 14:23Speaker 5: a way of life, and that's exactly what you get
- 14:25Speaker 5: with Pala. Founded right here in Louisiana, proudly one hundred

- 15:03Speaker 5: LA Group dot com. Palagroup dot com. All right, we
- 15:07Speaker 5: will step away and when we come back, all.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Right, welcome back in off the bench here on a Monday,
- 15:15Speaker 3: Tyler Sharpen for Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn. What I
- 15:19Speaker 3: want to look at right now? We'll got you two
- 15:21Speaker 3: topics in one segment. LSU softball, LSU women's basketball, because
- 15:24Speaker 3: both of them. That's some big time games over the weekend.
- 15:28Speaker 3: We'll start with LSU softball. They were undefeated, perfect on
- 15:32Speaker 3: the season headed into the Shriners Clearwater Classic. If you remember,
- 15:36Speaker 3: they played two games on Thursday, then they had a Friday,
- 15:39Speaker 3: two on Saturday, one on Sunday, so five games over
- 15:42Speaker 3: a four day period. They play Agains tomorrow night as well.
- 15:46Speaker 3: But it really couldn't have gone much worse for bet
- 15:49Speaker 3: THRENA squad. If we're being completely honest, they fall in
- 15:52Speaker 3: game one to Nebraska, six to oh Nebraska their freshman
- 15:55Speaker 3: pitcher on the mountain. She was absolutely dominant. LSU battled
- 15:58Speaker 3: a little bit earlier behind Early in that game, behind
- 16:01Speaker 3: Jaden Heavener couldn't get anything going against the Cornhuskers pitching staff.
- 16:05Speaker 3: I mean, that's just where it was like. It wasn't
- 16:07Speaker 3: even Jordi Ball or Jordi From. We should say now
- 16:11Speaker 3: they started a freshman.
- 16:12Speaker 4: She was great.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Then they put in Jordy From with a multiple run lead.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Anytime you do that, you feel pretty good about your
- 16:21Speaker 3: chances to win the game behind her on the mound,
- 16:24Speaker 3: much less with a multiple run lead. So they blanked
- 16:27Speaker 3: the Tigers six nothing against Nebraska. Again, there were times
- 16:31Speaker 3: I thought that Heavener battled early on. You just couldn't
- 16:34Speaker 3: get anything going offensively. I mean you had a few
- 16:36Speaker 3: hits here and there, but you just could not string
- 16:38Speaker 3: anything together, not enough hits to bring any runners across
- 16:42Speaker 3: the play. So they fall there, but they bounce back
- 16:44Speaker 3: Thursday evening against Oklahoma State. They win that game nine
- 16:47Speaker 3: to four. It was the story of your big players
- 16:50Speaker 3: making plays. Julia lassiterters here, Daniel and Tory Edwards in
- 16:54Speaker 3: that game combined to go seven of twelve with six
- 16:58Speaker 3: runs scored and five RBIs I mean, that's that's your
- 17:04Speaker 3: entire offense, right There was those three, which is fine
- 17:07Speaker 3: as long as they could do that consistently. I just
- 17:09Speaker 3: when I look at this lineup one through nine, I
- 17:12Speaker 3: just I don't see the consistency that we've seen in years.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Pass Like Sierra Daniel tear the cover off the ball.
- 17:18Speaker 3: We had bet three to oh one last week. Talking
- 17:19Speaker 3: to Jake and Matt, she raved about Torri Edwards. That's
- 17:22Speaker 3: a player that's been in this program for multiple years
- 17:25Speaker 3: that has done a really nice job. But you can't
- 17:28Speaker 3: just rely on those players. You need a little bit
- 17:30Speaker 3: more balance. One through nine.
- 17:32Speaker 5: C C.
- 17:32Speaker 3: S Luum was the pitcher for LSU. She got the
- 17:35Speaker 3: win against Oklahoma State. She went the whole game, gave
- 17:39Speaker 3: up four runs, only three strikeouts, but then again only
- 17:41Speaker 3: walked two, so not a ton of strikeouts, but didn't
- 17:43Speaker 3: give up a ton of free passes as well.
- 17:46Speaker 4: So you're one and one. You had a.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Stinker against Nebraska, you bounce back against Oklahoma State. You're
- 17:53Speaker 3: feeling okay, we're right where we thought we might be
- 17:57Speaker 3: one and one after the first two games. If you
- 18:00Speaker 3: can go in a little bit of a run, and
- 18:01Speaker 3: they did not, you then fall to Duke five to three.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Even her back out on the mound there after Nebraska
- 18:08Speaker 3: and honestly had another rough outing five k's, but gave up,
- 18:13Speaker 3: walked four, gave up five earned runs in that ball
- 18:16Speaker 3: game to lose to Duke. Lassiter was great again. She
- 18:19Speaker 3: contributed three of the six hits in that ball game. Again,
- 18:22Speaker 3: your big players stepped up, Sierra Daniel, Joel, Lassiter, Tory Edwards.
- 18:27Speaker 4: They were all good.
- 18:28Speaker 3: It was the players around them that needed to step
- 18:31Speaker 3: up in a big way to get these wins, and
- 18:32Speaker 3: they just didn't do it.
- 18:34Speaker 4: So you fall to Duke five to three.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Then you have UCF a winnable game, not in the
- 18:40Speaker 3: top twenty five. So the three top twenty five teams
- 18:42Speaker 3: you played, Nebraska, Duke, Ucla. Okay, you see F a
- 18:46Speaker 3: chance to bounce back. No, it's probably your most disappointing
- 18:50Speaker 3: game of the weekend, five to one loss to the
- 18:53Speaker 3: UCF Golden Knights. Again, you can't score runs. Lasted great
- 18:57Speaker 3: once again. She went three for three up there at
- 18:58Speaker 3: the top of that lineup, not much help from anyone else,
- 19:03Speaker 3: and then you try to cap things off.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Maybe can you scratch, can you call?
- 19:07Speaker 3: Can you pull out a win against a top twenty
- 19:08Speaker 3: five team to maybe get this thing going in the
- 19:11Speaker 3: right direction. After a bad Shriner's Clearwater Invitational No. Eight
- 19:17Speaker 3: to nothing lost to the UCLA Bruins. And UCLA is
- 19:20Speaker 3: a really good team. But guess what, ls you couldn't
- 19:23Speaker 3: score any runs. It was kind of the story of
- 19:26Speaker 3: the weekend for the Tigers. They actually threw four different
- 19:29Speaker 3: pitchers in that game trying to slow down to Ucla.
- 19:32Speaker 3: They could not do it. Unless you came into this
- 19:34Speaker 3: series perfect six to zero in the season. They leave
- 19:39Speaker 3: the series seven and four. I mean, you scored seven runs,
- 19:47Speaker 3: eight runs total in a five game period. I don't
- 19:50Speaker 3: care if Jaden Evener's on the mound. I don't care
- 19:52Speaker 3: if it's if it's C. C. Silero, Tatum, Clopton, whoever.
- 19:55Speaker 3: You score eight runs in five games, you're not gonna
- 20:00Speaker 3: win very many.
- 20:01Speaker 4: And it doesn't really matter who you playing.
- 20:03Speaker 3: I get the three of the five teams you were
- 20:04Speaker 3: playing round the top twenty five, and UCF looks like
- 20:07Speaker 3: a pretty good softball team. If Saturday was any indication,
- 20:11Speaker 3: But you can't dig yourself in that hole offensively. Again,
- 20:16Speaker 3: Daniel was great on the weekend. Tory Edwards was awesome.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Julia Lassiter hit the cover off the ball all weekend long.
- 20:23Speaker 3: You didn't get much from Avery Hodge. You didn't get
- 20:26Speaker 3: much from any of your other role players. I mean,
- 20:29Speaker 3: regardless of who it was, Macy Burgron showed flashes, but
- 20:33Speaker 3: again the consistency was a little off. It was just
- 20:36Speaker 3: it seemed like your top three players stepped up. They
- 20:38Speaker 3: were ready to play. Everyone else wasn't. And I mean again,
- 20:42Speaker 3: eight runs five games. You go one in four in
- 20:45Speaker 3: those five games. Like I think if you would have
- 20:49Speaker 3: asked coach Dona, I less you saw ball wherever. Like
- 20:52Speaker 3: worst case scenario, we go two and three, we beat
- 20:55Speaker 3: the unranked teams. We losed all the ranked teams, but
- 20:58Speaker 3: we battle hard, and we'd like to go three and two.
- 21:01Speaker 3: We'd like to steal one of the three against the
- 21:03Speaker 3: ranked opponents. And your gut, I mean, if you beat
- 21:06Speaker 3: the two unranked teams and you steal one of the
- 21:09Speaker 3: ranked wins, you're sitting.
- 21:12Speaker 4: At eight and two.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Now you're six and four, hovering around five hundred and
- 21:19Speaker 3: you've played a lot of games recently, and the rest
- 21:22Speaker 3: isn't gonna get any quicker. I mean, like a laundri
- 21:27Speaker 3: You were talking about the bullpen earlier and yeah, like
- 21:32Speaker 3: the bullpen's bad. But eight runs in five games, I mean, offensively,
- 21:36Speaker 3: nothing was there outside of your big three.
- 21:38Speaker 7: Which is crazy because when we talked about them coming
- 21:42Speaker 7: into the tournament, like before the tournament, their offense was
- 21:45Speaker 7: extremely productive. And then you get there and you go
- 21:49Speaker 7: against Nebraska, score no runs, and then they kind of
- 21:53Speaker 7: come alive. Versus Oklahoma State you score nine there, and
- 21:57Speaker 7: then with Duke it just do UCF, which is the
- 22:02Speaker 7: most inexcusable one to me for some reason, like u
- 22:05Speaker 7: CF was unranked. Can you lose one to five? That's
- 22:10Speaker 7: the most inexcusable one to me.
- 22:11Speaker 4: U C LA Okay, they're number six, Yeah, I mean
- 22:13Speaker 4: they're they're a great team.
- 22:15Speaker 8: Nebraska number eleven.
- 22:16Speaker 7: Like I said, I think they're gonna end up being
- 22:18Speaker 7: a problem, so okay, sure whatever, But I mean it's
- 22:21Speaker 7: just to only come out of that with one win.
- 22:25Speaker 7: Feels like they're talking about this in the chat. I
- 22:28Speaker 7: kind of feel like this program's taking a bit of
- 22:30Speaker 7: a step.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Back and Oklahoma State, Like you go, look at their
- 22:33Speaker 3: overall record. Olahoma State's not a great team. So like
- 22:35Speaker 3: you beat you beat Oklahoma State nine to four. You
- 22:37Speaker 3: didn't blow them out. They're not a great softball program
- 22:40Speaker 3: right now. So I mean, yeah, the one win you
- 22:42Speaker 3: got was against by far the weakest team in the field.
- 22:45Speaker 4: I mean, where do you where do you? Where do
- 22:47Speaker 4: you go from here?
- 22:48Speaker 3: Because like even if sure like Heavener had some rough outings,
- 22:51Speaker 3: I get it, but I mean she battled early against Nebraska,
- 22:53Speaker 3: and the fact of the matter is Hevener could have
- 22:55Speaker 3: given up one run the whole game. It wouldn't have mattered, right,
- 22:57Speaker 3: because you couldn't do anything offensively, So like, I don't,
- 23:00Speaker 3: I don't even put it on her, Like I get it,
- 23:01Speaker 3: she wouldn't. She wasn't nails like she has been in
- 23:04Speaker 3: the past. But I mean it shouldn't matter. Like she
- 23:06Speaker 3: went the whole game against Dude, gave up five runs. Okay, cool,
- 23:10Speaker 3: but you scored three in that game.
- 23:11Speaker 8: Yeah, and really only the top of your lineup is prettycer.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean Daniel has been really good, Lassiter has
- 23:17Speaker 3: been great, Tory Edwards, we know what she is. Can
- 23:19Speaker 3: you find me one person that's been consistent outside of
- 23:22Speaker 3: those three, I mean, anybody like that.
- 23:25Speaker 7: But like even Tory Edwards, her average is two ninety
- 23:28Speaker 7: six right now, right, which is like she we know
- 23:32Speaker 7: she could do better.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Right like that, that's not what she is. Like it's
- 23:34Speaker 3: a good it's a good average, but it's not. It's
- 23:36Speaker 3: not Tory Edwards. It's just that that was worst case
- 23:40Speaker 3: scenario for LSU softball.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Okay, but you also.
- 23:44Speaker 7: Can't really have like eleven errors on the weekend, right.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Because if you're if your batting's not there, can you
- 23:49Speaker 3: get some sort of support for your pitchers? No, yeah,
- 23:52Speaker 3: you have. You have no support in the field. You
- 23:53Speaker 3: have no run support behind you. I don't know what
- 23:56Speaker 3: you tell these pitchers to do to win these games,
- 23:59Speaker 3: but hopefully they can bounce back really bad weekend Brolshue softball.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Before we take a break, LSU women's basketball played a
- 24:07Speaker 3: big time game in primetime. It was about seven thirty
- 24:11Speaker 3: Saturday night on ABC, and it lived up to the
- 24:15Speaker 3: Billy Now. Unfortunately LSU does lose that ball game.
- 24:19Speaker 4: South Carolina wins. It's seventy nine, seventy two.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Eighteen straight losses to the South Carolina game Cocks for
- 24:26Speaker 3: this LSU women's basketball program. When I first heard that
- 24:29Speaker 3: on the broadcast, I thought it was a typo, but no,
- 24:31Speaker 3: I mean they had brought it up multiple times in
- 24:34Speaker 3: that game. Kim Milkee now o wins six against Dawn
- 24:37Speaker 3: Staley since coming to LSU. Ok, it's just the team
- 24:41Speaker 3: and a coach that has your number right now, and
- 24:43Speaker 3: you can't figure out why. But there's some things that
- 24:47Speaker 3: point to it. Like, first off, your big time players
- 24:50Speaker 3: have to step up. And I am not talking about
- 24:52Speaker 3: fla Je Johnson. This could have been one of flaw
- 24:54Speaker 3: J Johnson's best game. She played now, she was two
- 24:57Speaker 3: for six from the free throw line. Hey, Flage may
- 24:59Speaker 3: make you free throw is down the stretch. This is
- 25:01Speaker 3: a little bit of a different game. But she she
- 25:02Speaker 3: was great. I mean nine of eighteen, twenty one points,
- 25:06Speaker 3: a steal, eight rebounds. I mean, Planchet did what she
- 25:08Speaker 3: had to do to win this game. Again, two for
- 25:10Speaker 3: six of free throws. Got to get better. But I
- 25:13Speaker 3: mean Mikayla Williams five for twelve, eleven points. You need
- 25:16Speaker 3: a little bit more there. Jada Reeshard seven points, one
- 25:18Speaker 3: for ten from the floor, Malaysia full Wiley, who played
- 25:22Speaker 3: twenty three minutes, and this is her former team. You thought, okay,
- 25:25Speaker 3: this is a this is the spot where Malaysia full
- 25:27Speaker 3: while he's really gonna go off six points one for
- 25:30Speaker 3: eight from the floor. She was four for four from
- 25:32Speaker 3: the free throw line. She was the only person her
- 25:34Speaker 3: and Jada Rieschard that shot well from the free throw line.
- 25:38Speaker 3: But you just you could not get it done. Tessa
- 25:41Speaker 3: Johnson for South Carolina got really hot. So did Raven Johnson.
- 25:45Speaker 3: I mean Tessa twenty one points, four for five from three,
- 25:48Speaker 3: Raven Johnson nineteen points, three for five from three. I mean,
- 25:52Speaker 3: it was just it was one of those things where
- 25:54Speaker 3: South Carolina hit threes and big opportunities where you didn't.
- 25:58Speaker 3: I mean, you look at what South Carolina show from
- 26:00Speaker 3: three eight for seventeen forty seven percent, LSU two for
- 26:05Speaker 3: twelve seventeen percent and did not hit one in the
- 26:08Speaker 3: second half. It's just hit hit one in the second half.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Laj hit one in the second half. But it's just
- 26:16Speaker 3: you didn't shoot the ball well and at least make
- 26:20Speaker 3: your free throws, and he didn't do that. South Carolina
- 26:22Speaker 3: fifteen of seventeen from the line, eighty eight percent LSU
- 26:26Speaker 3: fourteen of twenty three, sixty one percent from the line.
- 26:29Speaker 3: I mentioned Fla j A Johnson two for six. There
- 26:32Speaker 3: was a it was in the fourth quarter. It's a
- 26:34Speaker 3: clutch situation. She gets fouled, goes to the line. L
- 26:38Speaker 3: sho's up one. At this point, you're like, Okay, she
- 26:42Speaker 3: hits down one, she hits these, you take you take
- 26:47Speaker 3: the lead. At worst, she goes one for one. It's
- 26:49Speaker 3: a tie ball game. She misses them both. You're still
- 26:52Speaker 3: down one. South Carolina goes down, they get a basket,
- 26:54Speaker 3: they get another move. You're down by multiple possessions. I
- 26:58Speaker 3: mean that that was that was the story of the
- 26:59Speaker 3: game for her. Grace Knox over two. Mikaela Williams did
- 27:05Speaker 3: not go to the free throw line, but I mean
- 27:06Speaker 3: Jada Ree Charlott's five of six Malaysia full while he
- 27:09Speaker 3: was four for four, Kate Covell two for two. But
- 27:11Speaker 3: as a team, I mean it it wasn't where it
- 27:14Speaker 3: needs to be.
- 27:15Speaker 4: That was the difference in it.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Three point shooting and free throws eighty eight and forty
- 27:20Speaker 3: seven for South Carolina. You sixty one percent from free
- 27:24Speaker 3: throw line, seventeen percent from behind the arc.
- 27:26Speaker 4: It's a difference in the game.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Seven point game, and a couple of those points were
- 27:30Speaker 3: were down when you just had to foul them late
- 27:32Speaker 3: in the game. I mean, with with four minutes to
- 27:34Speaker 3: go in this ball game. This was a tie game.
- 27:36Speaker 3: This was anybody's ballgame, and.
- 27:40Speaker 4: That was it. South Carolina made the shots, made the plays,
- 27:43Speaker 4: made their free throws. You did not.
- 27:45Speaker 3: That was the result of this game. Look, LSU still
- 27:48Speaker 3: a really good basketball team. They still have everything they
- 27:50Speaker 3: want in front of them. But you just cannot get
- 27:53Speaker 3: over the hump that is South Carolina. Like we were
- 27:55Speaker 3: watching this game, me and my wife after we got
- 27:58Speaker 3: home on Saturday, and you know, we're watching it and
- 28:02Speaker 3: she's locked in, like Victoria. You know, she didn't follow
- 28:05Speaker 3: men's or women's basketball that loo. She's locked in. Her mother,
- 28:08Speaker 3: her mom and dad are calling her. They're locked in
- 28:11Speaker 3: as well. It just seems like everybody was so invested
- 28:13Speaker 3: in in this game and then you'll lose the game.
- 28:16Speaker 4: But the p MAC was rocking. I mean, Jake brought
- 28:19Speaker 4: it up the other day.
- 28:19Speaker 3: One hundred and eighteen dollars was the cheapest ticket to
- 28:22Speaker 3: get into the PMAC on the secondary market on Saturday.
- 28:25Speaker 3: When's the last time that happened for a women's basketball game?
- 28:27Speaker 3: Like this game here great for women's basketball, right one,
- 28:30Speaker 3: ABC one, Prime Time, seven thirty, and it lived up
- 28:33Speaker 3: to the billing. It was a heavyweight fight. But you
- 28:36Speaker 3: just you really wish LSU could have came out on top.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Like eighteen straight games South Carolina over LSU seems like
- 28:43Speaker 3: it's impossible. But I mean, that's that's that's where we
- 28:46Speaker 3: sit right now, and that's why South Carolina is one
- 28:48Speaker 3: of the gold standards off women's basketball. Like I was
- 28:51Speaker 3: tucking to Victoria when we're watching this game, and she
- 28:53Speaker 3: was like, man, well, at least elo Shu got that
- 28:54Speaker 3: one national championship. And I kind of laughed and I
- 28:56Speaker 3: was like, yeah, but you don't remember what happened. Caitlin
- 28:58Speaker 3: Clark and iowall upset South Carolina in the final four.
- 29:02Speaker 3: That opened the door for LSU to win it. Like,
- 29:03Speaker 3: if South Carolina takes down Kaitlin Clark and IOWA LSU
- 29:07Speaker 3: in South Carolina meet in the finals, who knows what
- 29:09Speaker 3: happens now. I mean, if you shoot the way you
- 29:11Speaker 3: shot in that game like LSU did, LSU probably beats anybody.
- 29:15Speaker 4: They play.
- 29:16Speaker 3: But it's a completely different story with South Carolina. I mean,
- 29:19Speaker 3: down Staley that program. LSU cannot beat these guys for
- 29:24Speaker 3: whatever reason, and look that hats off to them.
- 29:27Speaker 4: They do what they have to do.
- 29:29Speaker 3: A thing that concerned me going into the game is
- 29:31Speaker 3: gonna be South Carolina's bigs against LSU. Like you have
- 29:34Speaker 3: Kate Covoal, who's got some size for LSU. Outside of that,
- 29:37Speaker 3: you don't have a ton of bigs like uh Medina Ocott.
- 29:40Speaker 3: She's a big and look what she did twelve points,
- 29:43Speaker 3: seventeen rebounds. I mean it was just she was a
- 29:47Speaker 3: difference maker in that game. You had a couple bigs
- 29:50Speaker 3: on that team, and then your backcourt of Tessa Johnson
- 29:53Speaker 3: and Raven Johnson. When you can get that production out
- 29:55Speaker 3: of the back court and you have a big size
- 29:57Speaker 3: advantage of down low, didn't you like where you and
- 30:00Speaker 3: it kind of showed up. I mean I talked about,
- 30:03Speaker 3: you know, total rebounding. I want to shoot out rebound
- 30:06Speaker 3: South Carolina. But a lot of that was in the
- 30:08Speaker 3: first half down the stretch Ocott I thought was really
- 30:10Speaker 3: big for this team. South Carolina six blocks LSU four.
- 30:13Speaker 3: So LSU held their own for the most part. So
- 30:16Speaker 3: if coming into the game, if you would have told me, hey,
- 30:19Speaker 3: South Carolina played their bigs, o'cott had a really good game.
- 30:22Speaker 3: LSU out rebound South Carolina by nine, I would have
- 30:25Speaker 3: said to me that was the one big weakness coming
- 30:29Speaker 3: into the game was the size differential. LSU won this game.
- 30:32Speaker 3: But it's not the case because they couldn't hit three pointers.
- 30:35Speaker 3: They could make their shots from the free throw line,
- 30:36Speaker 3: and South Carolina did. They made shots in big moments
- 30:39Speaker 3: and that is why Don Stalley squad left the p
- 30:41Speaker 3: MAC victorious seventy nine to seventy two over your LSU
- 30:46Speaker 3: Lady Tigers.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Right, we'll take a quick time out.
- 30:48Speaker 3: When we get back, we'll preview LSU versus Kent State.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Tonight.
- 30:52Speaker 3: I talked about maybe some guys were excited to see
- 30:54Speaker 3: whether it's on the mound in the field. And then
- 30:57Speaker 3: a new team is joining the Mountain West in football
- 31:00Speaker 3: in twenty twenty six.
- 31:00Speaker 4: We'll talk a little about that next here on off
- 31:02Speaker 4: the bench.
- 31:03Speaker 5: Off the bench, all right, So you heard Flynn the
- 31:06Speaker 5: other day. I mean he loves do sequis. You know
- 31:09Speaker 5: that we hear on the OTV team love do Sequis.
- 31:13Speaker 5: It is the perfect beer for any occasion. Lake beer,
- 31:17Speaker 5: beach beer, shower beer, bath beer, you name it, beer
- 31:22Speaker 5: like ballpark beer. It is the go to, and we've
- 31:26Speaker 5: said it, We're going to continue to say it. Whether
- 31:28Speaker 5: you're tailgating outside of Tiger Stadium, watching the Saints on
- 31:31Speaker 5: a Sunday, or just kicking back with your crew. Do
- 31:34Speaker 5: Sekis brings that bowl flavor and smooth finish that turns
- 31:38Speaker 5: ordinary into legendary. It's not just beer. It is the
- 31:42Speaker 5: beer of champions, or at least the beer of guys
- 31:45Speaker 5: who feel like champions. But you will feel like a
- 31:47Speaker 5: champion when you enjoy an ice cold Do Sekis. So
- 31:51Speaker 5: you don't have to be a champion, because Do Sekis
- 31:53Speaker 5: will make you a champion. So the next time you're
- 31:55Speaker 5: watching the game, grab a do Sequis and remember stay thirsty,
- 31:58Speaker 5: my friends responsibly, of course, the Seki's official beer of
- 32:02Speaker 5: unforgettable sports moments.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Across two thousand and seven Shamps, Purple and gold to
- 32:21Speaker 1: the core. This is off the bench with Hester and
- 32:24Speaker 1: Flynn Matton, Rouge's go to for all things Louisiana sports.
- 32:30Speaker 5: All Right, go to Rolses dot com, go see our
- 32:33Speaker 5: friends and uh well, which location do you go see them? Matt, Well,
- 32:36Speaker 5: you gotta find out. You got to go to the
- 32:37Speaker 5: website and see which one is nearest you. And then
- 32:40Speaker 5: once you find that out, we always talk about it. Man,
- 32:42Speaker 5: They've got incredible deals going on at your local store,
- 32:46Speaker 5: and you're gonna be able to see them in that
- 32:47Speaker 5: weekly add right there on the home page. Now, we
- 32:50Speaker 5: always encourage you go walk in. You'll be blown away.
- 32:54Speaker 5: Right when you walk in all the things that make
- 32:56Speaker 5: Rols is great. You're gonna be welcome by Kingcakes and
- 32:59Speaker 5: all the things that are so Louisiana, right, and they
- 33:02Speaker 5: are so local they're gonna have their own stuff there.
- 33:04Speaker 5: But when we say Louisiana, they're in more than just Louisiana,
- 33:08Speaker 5: across the Gulf coast. We just went to one Inmobile,
- 33:10Speaker 5: Alabama a couple of weeks ago when we were down
- 33:12Speaker 5: there for the Senior Ball. So again, find that location
- 33:15Speaker 5: nearest you.
- 33:16Speaker 4: How do you do that? You go to Rouses dot.
- 33:18Speaker 9: Com at Rouses'm get ready for the tailgating weekend Beta.
- 33:22Speaker 9: Do it local at local grocery store, Go check out
- 33:24Speaker 9: you're nearest a local Rouses.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Welcome back in just a few more segments to go
- 33:30Speaker 3: here on a Monday edition of Off the Bench Tayler Show,
- 33:32Speaker 3: but with the Elondra Villa Real Braxton Rizuto.
- 33:35Speaker 4: Along for the ride as well.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Your LSU Tigers obviously take down Milwaukee three games to
- 33:42Speaker 3: nothing over the weekend Friday Saturday Sunday. They do play
- 33:45Speaker 3: tonight at six pm against the Kent State Golden Flashes,
- 33:48Speaker 3: a little bit of step up in competition. Kent State
- 33:51Speaker 3: actually had a pretty good three game series actually in Hammon,
- 33:54Speaker 3: so this is a team that's been in Louisiana for
- 33:57Speaker 3: a while now. They played Friday, Saturday Sunday as well.
- 34:01Speaker 3: They sweep the Southeastern Lions, and I get southeastn't a
- 34:04Speaker 3: little bit lower level, but that's a program that's one
- 34:07Speaker 3: of the better baseball programs in the Southland Conference, at
- 34:09Speaker 3: least traditionally, you know, in the last couple of years
- 34:13Speaker 3: hasn't been what it was. But again, Southeastern normally a
- 34:16Speaker 3: pretty good baseball program, and Kent State took care of
- 34:19Speaker 3: them with ease eight to three on Saturday eleven, or
- 34:23Speaker 3: eight to three on Friday, eleven to two on Valentine's
- 34:26Speaker 3: Day on Saturday, and then a fourteen to seven victory
- 34:29Speaker 3: yesterday against the Lions. So they put up a ton
- 34:32Speaker 3: of runs and I'll shu look again step up in
- 34:37Speaker 3: competition a little bit. When we talked to Patrick Coogan
- 34:40Speaker 3: a little bit earlier today, he believes jad and Nut's
- 34:43Speaker 3: gonna get the start, and then that's probably the case.
- 34:45Speaker 3: We saw Jayden Nut do this a little bit last
- 34:47Speaker 3: year and he didn't throw it all over the weekend,
- 34:50Speaker 3: so that makes sense.
- 34:51Speaker 4: And I'm excited to see what Jayden Nute can do.
- 34:53Speaker 3: But we know he's got stuff right like we've seen
- 34:56Speaker 3: it from Jayden Nute from time and time again, what
- 34:59Speaker 3: I want to do right now, I always look at
- 35:00Speaker 3: maybe a few guys that I mean I'm excited to
- 35:03Speaker 3: see tonight that you know, outside of Jaden Newt. Danny
- 35:07Speaker 3: lock and Meyer pitcher from North Dakota State. A year ago,
- 35:10Speaker 3: he's on lefty six thirty to twenty one. He was
- 35:13Speaker 3: first team All Summit League honors last year. He recorded
- 35:16Speaker 3: nine saves. Danny had a two point three seven ERA
- 35:19Speaker 3: and thirty eight innings last year. Now, twenty four of
- 35:22Speaker 3: those thirty eight were relief appearances. So making no mistake
- 35:25Speaker 3: about it, like Danny lock and Meyer is going to
- 35:26Speaker 3: be a relief pitcher on this staff. But we talked
- 35:29Speaker 3: about not giving up free passes earlier and how impressive
- 35:33Speaker 3: Cooper will Cooper Moore was eleven strikeouts, no walks, Danny
- 35:37Speaker 3: lock Andmyer last year fifty strikeouts, just eighteen walks. On
- 35:40Speaker 3: the entire season. He had nine saves that led the
- 35:43Speaker 3: Summit League that ranked twenty third in the nation. Like
- 35:46Speaker 3: Danny Lockemeyer is a guy coming in that Yes he's
- 35:49Speaker 3: stepping up obviously multiple levels of competition, but he was
- 35:52Speaker 3: really really solid last year for the Boys, and I'm
- 35:56Speaker 3: excited to see him. I think we'll see him in
- 35:59Speaker 3: the back into that bullpen here tonight, if in fact
- 36:02Speaker 3: it is Jaden Nude that does get the start. We
- 36:06Speaker 3: saw him a little bit over the weekend, but I
- 36:08Speaker 3: want to see him a little bit more in the field.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Mason Braun, he got to start at DH over the weekend,
- 36:13Speaker 3: played a few spots here and there. Remember Mason Braun
- 36:15Speaker 3: was the number one high school first baseman last year
- 36:18Speaker 3: coming out of high school, and it was the sixty
- 36:21Speaker 3: eighth overall player in the nation. He launched the longest
- 36:26Speaker 3: home run last year in the twenty twenty five major
- 36:28Speaker 3: league draft combine, like the longest out of anybody. He
- 36:31Speaker 3: hit the ball well in the fall. You saw some
- 36:33Speaker 3: things from him over the weekend. You know he can
- 36:36Speaker 3: play a little bit of outfield. He could play first
- 36:37Speaker 3: base as well. That's actually what he's listened out on
- 36:39Speaker 3: the roster. He's outfield slash first base. I want to
- 36:42Speaker 3: see where they put him, Like did they give Jake
- 36:43Speaker 3: Brown a night off after his big weekend? Put him
- 36:46Speaker 3: in right field? Does he go in there at first base?
- 36:49Speaker 3: For Zach York. You can kind of move Mason Braun
- 36:52Speaker 3: around here and there, which is what I like about him. Like,
- 36:56Speaker 3: if you need to move York to DH, you can
- 36:58Speaker 3: Braun could slide in there. He could in there in
- 37:00Speaker 3: the outfield, multiple outfield positions. I think the the elusiveness,
- 37:06Speaker 3: the athleticism of a guy like Mason Brawn, his ability
- 37:09Speaker 3: to play multiple spots will be huge for this baseball team.
- 37:12Speaker 3: And I'm excited to see, like he'll play tonight, no
- 37:15Speaker 3: no what capacity. That's kind of what I'm excited about.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Where he is going to be placed in that field.
- 37:20Speaker 3: I think he'll get a little bit more action there tonight.
- 37:23Speaker 3: And then Ethan Klaus guy we talked about earlier in
- 37:26Speaker 3: the show.
- 37:26Speaker 4: He's a guy.
- 37:26Speaker 3: He looks the part getting off the bus. He's six
- 37:29Speaker 3: to two but shortstop in high school, but can move
- 37:31Speaker 3: around the infield. You saw him at second base a
- 37:34Speaker 3: little bit yesterday, showed some power in the fall. Look,
- 37:38Speaker 3: you need depth in the infield. You need to find
- 37:39Speaker 3: some guys. Ethan Klaus could be one of those guys.
- 37:42Speaker 3: He batted four to twenty five or four fifteen and
- 37:45Speaker 3: twenty twenty five last year in high school out in
- 37:47Speaker 3: Las Vegas, five thirty one base percentage, sixteen doubles that
- 37:51Speaker 3: led the entire state of Nevada as far as high
- 37:53Speaker 3: school baseball goes. Ethan Klaus is a guy that could
- 37:58Speaker 3: really step up and be a really quality depth piece
- 38:01Speaker 3: for you. I don't think he's going to win the
- 38:03Speaker 3: job at second base. I don't think it's out of
- 38:04Speaker 3: the question. But Seth Dardar looked really good in the
- 38:07Speaker 3: opening weekend. You should love Braden Simpson there as well.
- 38:09Speaker 3: But Ethan Klaus could be a guy. Look, you need
- 38:11Speaker 3: to pinch hit or he needs somebody to go play
- 38:13Speaker 3: the field in case of an injury. Ethan Klaus, if
- 38:16Speaker 3: he steps up and keeps playing well. He could be
- 38:18Speaker 3: right there in that conversation, and then also Omar Serna. Look,
- 38:23Speaker 3: I thought Aaron Beattie was was really good over the weekend,
- 38:26Speaker 3: both offensively and defensively. But me and Landra talked about
- 38:29Speaker 3: Omar Serna a little bit earlier about just how he looks.
- 38:32Speaker 3: I mean, he's six two two twenty six as a freshman,
- 38:35Speaker 3: and he hit the ball well at times in the
- 38:37Speaker 3: in those false scrimmages.
- 38:39Speaker 4: We saw him a little bit this weekend. He did
- 38:41Speaker 4: get a start.
- 38:42Speaker 3: I would like to see Omar Serna, whether he starts
- 38:45Speaker 3: or not, gets him extended outing in this game as well,
- 38:48Speaker 3: see what he can do, Elandra before we go to break.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Look, I mean we've talked. We've talked, siRNA.
- 38:54Speaker 3: I mean we know that we know about Jaden new Like,
- 38:56Speaker 3: is there somebody tonight though, like maybe maybe a little
- 38:59Speaker 3: bit under the our person You're like, hey, I want
- 39:01Speaker 3: to see what they can do tonight.
- 39:05Speaker 7: I was not ready for this question. There's not really anybody.
- 39:08Speaker 7: I feel like we saw so much of them this weekend,
- 39:11Speaker 7: so I don't really think that there's anybody that I'm like,
- 39:12Speaker 7: oh yeah, I'm looking out for them, but I am
- 39:15Speaker 7: interested to see who's going to start tonight.
- 39:18Speaker 8: I thought it was going to be Cooper Williams. I
- 39:21Speaker 8: thought he was gonna.
- 39:23Speaker 4: Paris Sturday.
- 39:24Speaker 8: Yeah, so probably not gonna be him, But I mean,
- 39:27Speaker 8: I don't know. That's a good question.
- 39:29Speaker 4: Though, j Jaden, dude, I guess would be your.
- 39:31Speaker 7: outBut I would like to see Jayden Nudde like off
- 39:34Speaker 7: of last season he did really well.
- 39:37Speaker 4: We'll see what happen.
- 39:37Speaker 8: Maybe he's a Maverick Rizzi.
- 39:39Speaker 4: Oh yeah, because Maverick.
- 39:40Speaker 3: But he threw like an inning, yes, this is begining,
- 39:41Speaker 3: like an inning and a third I think it was.
- 39:43Speaker 8: I don't remember if it was Saturday. I don't know.
- 39:45Speaker 6: I think it was just one inning.
- 39:46Speaker 3: It was just one inning, Okay, Yeah, and I mean
- 39:48Speaker 3: he looked good. But yeah, Maverick Rizzy is a good one.
- 39:50Speaker 3: Like it'd be a little bit more of an extended outing,
- 39:52Speaker 3: like we haven't we haven't really got to see Maverick
- 39:54Speaker 3: extend a ton yeah, even even last year.
- 39:57Speaker 4: So that's a good call as well.
- 39:58Speaker 3: That's why I brought up Mason Brawn, Like, yeah, we
- 40:00Speaker 3: saw Mason bron I want to see him a little
- 40:01Speaker 3: bit in the outfield little bit at first base, so
- 40:03Speaker 3: we're kind of versatility he's working with. But excited tonight again.
- 40:08Speaker 3: They played three games over the weekend they have. This
- 40:11Speaker 3: will be their fourth technically opening weekend. I know it's
- 40:13Speaker 3: Monday night, but they'll wrap up the opening weekend here
- 40:17Speaker 3: tonight with Kent State as the Golden Flashes come in
- 40:19Speaker 3: three and oho Kent State again. They put up a
- 40:22Speaker 3: lot of runs against Southeastern. It was eight on Friday night,
- 40:27Speaker 3: eleven on Saturday, and then fourteen to seven victory over
- 40:30Speaker 3: the Lions yesterday. So Kent State's come out swinging here
- 40:34Speaker 3: in twenty twenty six. We'll see what LS you can
- 40:35Speaker 3: do to counter that attack. Here tonight, we'll take a
- 40:38Speaker 3: time out. We'll close this thing out like we do
- 40:40Speaker 3: every day. Next with some asta bench.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Off the bench, all.

- 43:24Speaker 3: the Bench. If you hit a lot here today on
- 43:27Speaker 3: this Monday LSU Baseball, over the weekend LSU Women's basketball softball,
- 43:31Speaker 3: we had a ton going on. We'll close out the
- 43:34Speaker 3: show today like we do every day, with a little.
- 43:37Speaker 4: Ask the Bench.
- 43:38Speaker 3: This first one's for a launcher, because I saw you'll
- 43:40Speaker 3: talking about it in the chat a little bit earlier.
- 43:42Speaker 4: Ask the bench, have you seen punch the monkey? What
- 43:45Speaker 4: is punch the monkey?
- 43:47Speaker 8: Okay?
- 43:47Speaker 7: I feel so bad for punch though. This is like
- 43:49Speaker 7: one of the most emotional things I've.
- 43:51Speaker 4: Ever right, like, say, I haven't heard of it.
- 43:53Speaker 7: So it's a little tiny monkey and he was abandoned
- 43:57Speaker 7: by his mother at birth and and so the zoo
- 44:00Speaker 7: keepers raised him, and whenever he was abandoned by his mother,
- 44:04Speaker 7: they gave him the stuffed animal.
- 44:07Speaker 8: He thinks the stuffed animals his mom.
- 44:09Speaker 4: Okay, they had that's sadder.
- 44:11Speaker 8: Stuffed animals his mom. And then he tried at the zoo.
- 44:14Speaker 7: He tries to like hang out with all the other monkeys,
- 44:17Speaker 7: and none of them want to hang out with him.
- 44:20Speaker 7: And then he went to go try to hug one
- 44:21Speaker 7: of the bigger, like older monkeys, and it pushed him
- 44:24Speaker 7: away and it just went to go crawl with its
- 44:27Speaker 7: stuffed animal, and it was just laying down with his
- 44:29Speaker 7: little stuff buggy.
- 44:31Speaker 4: That's that's sadder than I.
- 44:32Speaker 7: Thought it was going to be, but also so sad
- 44:34Speaker 7: at the same time.
- 44:36Speaker 3: Maybe they don't want to hang out with him because
- 44:37Speaker 3: he's all caring a stuffed animals.
- 44:40Speaker 8: Knows, probably because they don't love him.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Probably because they don't love him. Asked the bench. Why
- 44:45Speaker 3: does OTB for punch? Yeah, Justice for punch is a
- 44:49Speaker 3: great name for a monkey, by the way, Ask the bench.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Why does OTB hate President's Day and America? I just
- 44:55Speaker 3: googled it President's Days today, Guys, I don't care.
- 44:57Speaker 8: We don't get days off here.
- 44:59Speaker 4: I don't care. What is President's Day?
- 45:01Speaker 8: Is to celebrate a made up holiday?
- 45:03Speaker 3: Also, like, what is the purpose of President's Day? It's
- 45:06Speaker 3: like to acknowledge presidents.
- 45:07Speaker 7: I'm aware we have a president?
- 45:10Speaker 2: Like what are we? Yeah?
- 45:10Speaker 4: Like what are we? What are we doing here?
- 45:12Speaker 2: Is it?
- 45:13Speaker 3: Like, Hey, this is the day to celebrate the president?
- 45:14Speaker 3: I know they exist? Are we Are we just celebrating
- 45:17Speaker 3: one day?
- 45:17Speaker 1: No?
- 45:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I kind of think.
- 45:18Speaker 3: That should just be fourth of July. We just conclude
- 45:21Speaker 3: all that in one. There's there's too many things.
- 45:23Speaker 4: Like Arbor Day. What the hell is that? I like,
- 45:25Speaker 4: we're not We're not doing that. No days off over here, right,
- 45:29Speaker 4: no days off here? Ask the bench.
- 45:31Speaker 3: Do you find yourself tuning into curling in the Olympics
- 45:34Speaker 3: like me? And why am I fascinated by it? So yes,
- 45:37Speaker 3: I uh, I mean Victoria's gotten more into it than
- 45:40Speaker 3: I have. But yeah, it's it's one of those things
- 45:43Speaker 3: where you know, when the Olympics started, like a curling boring,
- 45:46Speaker 3: anybody can do that. I am cheering them on while
- 45:48Speaker 3: they are sweeping that eye. So I'm like, make a curve,
- 45:50Speaker 3: make a curve, and it's yeah, we are locked in
- 45:53Speaker 3: in my house every time it comes on, Like I
- 45:55Speaker 3: have no idea what any Olympic schedule is.
- 45:58Speaker 4: I could look it up and I just don't want to.
- 46:01Speaker 3: But we have it on in the background, that little
- 46:03Speaker 3: whip around coverage on Peacock since it's by NBC, and
- 46:06Speaker 3: uh yeah when curling comes.
- 46:08Speaker 4: On, it's a big deal in our house. All right.
- 46:10Speaker 4: That's going to do it.
- 46:11Speaker 3: For a Monday edition of Off the Bench, we covered
- 46:13Speaker 3: a ton a lot of LSU baseball talk. We got
- 46:16Speaker 3: some softball in there, we got some women's basketball. Patrick Coogan,
- 46:19Speaker 3: former LSU baseball pitcher, joined us, got his thoughts on it.
- 46:22Speaker 3: LSU taking on Kent State tonight six pm and Alec
- 46:26Speaker 3: Box Stadium.
- 46:26Speaker 4: We'll recap that tomorrow.
- 46:28Speaker 3: We got a whole lot more going on tune in,
- 46:31Speaker 3: same time, same place tomorrow.
- 46:32Speaker 4: Here on off the bench, Off the bench.
- 46:36Speaker 5: A. You go to trash rangers dot com if you're
- 46:39Speaker 5: signing up for residential commercial trash pickup. If you are
- 46:42Speaker 5: signing up for a roll off dumpster, maybe you're doing
- 46:44Speaker 5: some spring cleaning coming up and you need that. You
- 46:47Speaker 5: tell them what you've got. They'll make sure you have
- 46:48Speaker 5: the right size dumpster.
- 46:49Speaker 4: If you are looking for a portable.
- 46:51Speaker 5: Toilet, maybe you got an event going on and you
- 46:54Speaker 5: want to have that delivered to you picked up. They
- 46:56Speaker 5: can do that every single time at trash Rangers. So again,
- 46:59Speaker 5: go to the website trash rangers dot com. Trash rangers
- 47:02Speaker 5: dot com.
- 47:02Speaker 9: Yeah, you've got a business and you're maybe not maybe
- 47:05Speaker 9: you're not happy with your current trash pickup. Maybe it's
- 47:08Speaker 9: hard to get in touch with the customer services there.
- 47:10Speaker 9: I've been there, I've done that. Give them a call,
- 47:13Speaker 9: let them know how they can help your business. They
- 47:15Speaker 9: are the experts when it comes to trash removement. They
- 47:17Speaker 9: can customize their pickup schedule around your business. What what
- 47:21Speaker 9: time of the day, how much trash you make. Is
- 47:24Speaker 9: it one pickup a week, maybe it's six pickups a week,
