- 0:00Speaker 1: Talked about Knoxville to start this thing up. We'll go
- 0:01Speaker 1: back there now. Auburn at Tennessee in the SEC this weekend.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Do the Vols bounce back? They'll get on you if
- 0:10Speaker 2: you pronounce that wrong. But do the Vols bounce back, Cole?
- 0:14Speaker 2: This is presented by PrizePix.
- 0:15Speaker 3: What you got?
- 0:17Speaker 4: I think this is a good game plan to be
- 0:19Speaker 4: able to kind of learn on from your mistakes last week.
- 0:21Speaker 4: Let's get this out of the way. A defense like
- 0:24Speaker 4: Texas that has a player like Colin Simmons, that has
- 0:26Speaker 4: a secondary that has been playing out of its mind,
- 0:28Speaker 4: a good linebacking core that knows how to blitz, is
- 0:31Speaker 4: going to be a recipe for disaster against any average
- 0:34Speaker 4: offensive line with a young quarterback being forced to win
- 0:36Speaker 4: the football game. That's just it. I mean, like, I
- 0:39Speaker 4: hate to be that guy, but that's really where you are,
- 0:41Speaker 4: is that they were always going to be able to
- 0:42Speaker 4: get after Faison Brandon. And I even said in the preview,
- 0:45Speaker 4: if you're going to win this football game, it's probably
- 0:48Speaker 4: going to have to come off of Faison Brandon doing
- 0:49Speaker 4: Faison Brandon things against an elite defense. They weren't able to.
- 0:53Speaker 4: They gave up 10 sacks. They were 12 tackles for loss.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Here's the good news. Auburn is a good defense. A very, very,
- 1:00Speaker 4: very good defense. They're not as good as Texas. So
- 1:03Speaker 4: this is an opportunity for you to be able to
- 1:04Speaker 4: continue your rapport by building a connection with the receivers.
- 1:07Speaker 4: If Faison Brandon is going to have to step on
- 1:09Speaker 4: up and make some big time plays, then I think
- 1:11Speaker 4: that you will have your opportunities against this secondary. And
- 1:15Speaker 4: I think that you also will be going up against
- 1:16Speaker 4: a team that doesn't have as many as explosive receivers
- 1:20Speaker 4: as a Ryan Wingo or a Cam Coleman and still
- 1:22Speaker 4: has questionable quarterback play. even though Arch, up to this
- 1:25Speaker 4: point in the season, has been very questionable with his
- 1:28Speaker 4: quarterback play. One thing that I'm looking for in this
- 1:30Speaker 4: matchup is, is there any way that you can establish
- 1:32Speaker 4: the run, just make life a little bit more easy
- 1:34Speaker 4: for Faison Brandon? They bottled up both Dwayne Morris and
- 1:36Speaker 4: Deshaun Bishop and made that offense one-dimensional. I think that
- 1:39Speaker 4: has more to do with the offensive line than it
- 1:41Speaker 4: does with the actual running backs, but still... Can you
- 1:43Speaker 4: force it to be second and six, second and five,
- 1:46Speaker 4: gain four and a half yards of play, just making
- 1:49Speaker 4: life a little bit more manageable for what you want
- 1:51Speaker 4: to do with the offensive personnel? I think on the
- 1:53Speaker 4: flip side, can you get pressure on Byron Brown and
- 1:56Speaker 4: force him to stay in the before he has to
- 1:59Speaker 4: break on out to either side of the corner. Because
- 2:01Speaker 4: the thing that we aren't talking enough about is that
- 2:03Speaker 4: Tennessee's defense did a good job of taking away the
- 2:06Speaker 4: run for Texas outside of the red zone and getting
- 2:08Speaker 4: pressure on Arch Manning. They had six sacks. They had
- 2:10Speaker 4: 10 tackles for loss. They did a really nice job
- 2:13Speaker 4: of playing within structure and and forcing a lot of
- 2:16Speaker 4: tough plays against Texas' offense. And I think Texas' offense
- 2:20Speaker 4: is mildly better than what you have in Auburn's offense
- 2:23Speaker 4: at this point. So can you force those opportunities? I
- 2:25Speaker 4: think that getting interceptions and forcing some deep shots down
- 2:28Speaker 4: the field where a K and Lee can make a
- 2:29Speaker 4: big-time grab. or Aquam Moss making a big time play
- 2:33Speaker 4: is detrimental to this. And we've seen Byron Brown, when
- 2:37Speaker 4: forced to play in structure and has to throw it,
- 2:40Speaker 4: will throw in a double coverage and it will lead
- 2:42Speaker 4: to turnover. So that's really important.
- 2:44Speaker 2: To this game.
- 2:44Speaker 4: I think the one thing that I really want to
- 2:46Speaker 4: see if I am a Tennessee fan is that the
- 2:49Speaker 4: offensive play design with Josh Heupel is a little bit
- 2:51Speaker 4: more creative that gives us an opportunity to make plays.
- 2:54Speaker 4: I think if there is a This is not fair
- 2:57Speaker 4: because I do think that Josh Heupel has been a phenomenal,
- 3:00Speaker 4: phenomenal hire for Tennessee. But I do understand Evolve fans
- 3:03Speaker 4: at this point are a little underwhelmed with how the
- 3:06Speaker 4: teams have gone. It's his offense. It's his ideologies. It's
- 3:09Speaker 4: his personnel. It's more specifically, it's his team with his
- 3:12Speaker 4: players that And you're not getting the 10 wins. You're
- 3:15Speaker 4: getting the eight wins. Can you get a quarterback that
- 3:17Speaker 4: fits your system to a tee, be able to kind
- 3:20Speaker 4: of show that he will win you football games? And
- 3:23Speaker 4: just for good measure, you're going up against a former
- 3:25Speaker 4: protege in Alex Golish, who was the offensive coordinator for
- 3:28Speaker 4: Josh Heupel before he took the job at South Florida.
- 3:31Speaker 4: So everything that he learned about running an offense is
- 3:34Speaker 4: derivative from what a guy like Josh Heupel does. So
- 3:37Speaker 4: you should know that offense from the ins and outs
- 3:39Speaker 4: and be able to attack it in so many different ways.
- 3:41Speaker 4: I think that's something that you're going to have to
- 3:43Speaker 4: look forward to in this matchup. And can you get
- 3:44Speaker 4: Faison Brand into playing when you thought that maybe he
- 3:47Speaker 4: waited a little bit too long to find a Braylon Staley?
- 3:50Speaker 4: Maybe go ahead and just get that ball out a
- 3:51Speaker 4: little bit faster. Have a quicker trigger. Like you do
- 3:54Speaker 4: realize that you're going to have an opportunity to make
- 3:56Speaker 4: some plays downfield. And with the game being in Neyland,
- 3:58Speaker 4: I think that does bode well in your favor.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I'll get right back to this clip from the Power
- 4:02Speaker 1: 2 on College Football Addiction. But first, I want to
- 4:05Speaker 1: tell you, we picked everything that you see right now.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I'll tell you, we all took the more on Jaden
- 4:10Speaker 1: Ball's touchdowns. We all took the more on Jeremiah Smith's touchdowns.
- 4:13Speaker 1: We all took the more on Jeremiah Smith and Jaden
- 4:15Speaker 1: Ball's rushing slash receiving totals that they have there.
- 4:18Speaker 2: We took the more on Malachi Toney.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I took the less on Ryan Coleman Williams. So go
- 4:24Speaker 1: check out the show. You can hear what our live
- 4:26Speaker 1: predictions were. You can hear our thought process behind all
- 4:28Speaker 1: of them. And then go get on the Price Picks app.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Use our code HMA. Play $ 5. Get $ 150 in lineups
- 4:33Speaker 1: instantly when you win. If you place a $ 5 lineup
- 4:39Speaker 1: and win using that code HMA only make sure that
- 4:42Speaker 1: you are on the price picks app.
- 4:43Speaker 2: All right, now back to the clip. I want to
- 4:46Speaker 2: see this, the bounce back.
- 4:47Speaker 1: You know, I know we get into the weeds of
- 4:49Speaker 1: matchups and things, but I do think from a big picture,
- 4:52Speaker 1: we talk about the, the way that teams respond to
- 4:54Speaker 1: an emotional letdown teams do.
- 4:56Speaker 2: That in different ways. And, um, you know, I honestly
- 4:59Speaker 2: thought Ole Miss responded well.
- 5:01Speaker 1: To an emotional win, but, um, or emotional win against LSU,
- 5:07Speaker 1: and I thought they responded fairly well. It didn't look
- 5:09Speaker 1: to me like they were not focused or their mind
- 5:12Speaker 1: was too focused on last week.
- 5:14Speaker 2: They just couldn't hold up.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Against Florida late in that game when Florida scored 21
- 5:20Speaker 1: or 17 in the fourth quarter to really drive the
- 5:24Speaker 1: stake in further. I thought that when you look at
- 5:29Speaker 1: what LSU did against A & M, who is also
- 5:31Speaker 1: like a wounded animal, they responded well from their, their loss.
- 5:35Speaker 1: And they put that wounded animal down.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Right.
- 5:37Speaker 1: And didn't, didn't mess around with it. I think Tennessee
- 5:40Speaker 1: is the better team here, but I, I know how
- 5:43Speaker 1: easy it is for programs to get up when you're
- 5:46Speaker 1: playing the number one team in the country and the
- 5:48Speaker 1: president's coming to town and every celebrity that's ever been
- 5:50Speaker 1: involved with Tennessee or Texas is in town.
- 5:53Speaker 2: And then they invite me to town and everything.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I'm just playing.
- 5:55Speaker 2: But when all that is going on, it's easy.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Tennessee, can you do it without me there? it's easy
- 6:00Speaker 1: to get up for them. Can you get up for
- 6:02Speaker 1: the Auburns? If Tennessee gets up for this game and
- 6:04Speaker 1: they play anywhere close to the level of defense that
- 6:06Speaker 1: they played against Texas, they'll be in great shape in
- 6:09Speaker 1: this game. It'll take less pressure. It'll take some of
- 6:11Speaker 1: the pressure off of Brandon. It'll take some of the
- 6:13Speaker 1: pressure off of that offense. I'm interested to see what
- 6:15Speaker 1: they get back from... Offensive line health is a question.
- 6:19Speaker 1: That offensive line I thought was one of the better
- 6:21Speaker 1: ones in the SEC. It certainly didn't look like it
- 6:23Speaker 1: on Saturday. But again, Auburn's defensive front, certainly not Texas's,
- 6:27Speaker 1: which has four first-rounders on it.
- 6:29Speaker 4: So.
- 6:30Speaker 1: That's a big question to me, is how do they
- 6:32Speaker 1: bounce back? I think they'll bounce back well. I think
- 6:35Speaker 1: Tennessee wins this thing. I think they win somewhat comfortably.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Spreads like 7, right?
- 6:41Speaker 2: I think they win by 10. Give me like 24-14, Tennessee.
- 6:47Speaker 3: I also think lower scoring, because I think it's going
- 6:50Speaker 3: to be a defensive battle a little bit. I think
- 6:52Speaker 3: Faison Brand and I trust more to get back going,
- 6:55Speaker 3: and if it's Josh Heupel being like, hey, let's get
- 6:58Speaker 3: this out quicker, let's have a quicker trigger to the
- 7:00Speaker 3: points that Cole was saying, if it's maybe one read
- 7:02Speaker 3: and takeoff, something like that, just to give the guys
- 7:05Speaker 3: some confidence, I think, moving forward. So I'm curious to
- 7:07Speaker 3: see what they do there. I'm curious to see if
- 7:09Speaker 3: they can get the running game going consistently against Auburn.
- 7:12Speaker 3: I think they can, but it feels like a bit
- 7:15Speaker 3: of a coin flip when it comes to that. I
- 7:17Speaker 3: was really impressed by the Tennessee defense against Texas. And granted,
- 7:19Speaker 3: Texas' offense has not exactly played up to the level
- 7:23Speaker 3: that we were all expecting them to. But I came
- 7:25Speaker 3: out of that game thinking stock up for Tennessee, stock
- 7:28Speaker 3: down for Texas, even though Texas is the number one
- 7:30Speaker 3: team in the country. So I'm excited about what Tennessee
- 7:32Speaker 3: can do. I actually disagree with Cole. I think nine
- 7:34Speaker 3: or ten wins is plausible for Tennessee this year if
- 7:37Speaker 3: they can grow from these experiences, if they can grow
- 7:41Speaker 3: from the experience they just had against Texas, because you're
- 7:43Speaker 3: going to be in a handful of games where it's
- 7:46Speaker 3: going to be a coin flip. Third Saturday in October,
- 7:49Speaker 3: if Tennessee starts to build momentum against Alabama– That's going
- 7:52Speaker 3: to be a coin flip. The LSU game, if the
- 7:54Speaker 3: Tigers do not have their health, Tennessee is going to
- 7:56Speaker 3: have a chance in that. It's going to be a
- 7:58Speaker 3: puncher's chance. So I'm really excited to see where the
- 8:00Speaker 3: remainder of the season goes for Tennessee. Like I've said
- 8:03Speaker 3: a bunch of times, I feel like on this show,
- 8:04Speaker 3: I don't know where the points come from for Auburn offensively.
- 8:07Speaker 3: It's going to be something where you're going to have
- 8:08Speaker 3: to rely on your defense to get you the ball back.
- 8:11Speaker 3: And you really got to take your time offensively and
- 8:14Speaker 3: keep the ball out of Faison Brandon's hands. and try
- 8:16Speaker 3: and get Byron Brown in that running game going consistently
- 8:19Speaker 3: to make life difficult for the Vols. But still, I
- 8:22Speaker 3: like Tennessee to win in more convincing fashion, honestly. I'm
- 8:26Speaker 3: going to say 30-17 in this. And I think Tennessee
- 8:29Speaker 3: bounces back from Texas. I think that was a building
- 8:32Speaker 3: block game for them. Curious to see where Faison Brandon
- 8:35Speaker 3: is at health-wise. The fact that he came back into
- 8:37Speaker 3: that game showed a lot of toughness. But I'm excited
- 8:40Speaker 3: to see what he looks like after a week to, quote-unquote, recover.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Okay, so I... I actually do think Tennessee can get
- 8:48Speaker 4: to 10 wins this year. I don't know if they will,
- 8:49Speaker 4: but I think they can. It's just that right now
- 8:52Speaker 4: we are seeing more of an 8-win campaign underneath Josh Heupel,
- 8:55Speaker 4: not those 10 wins that he had when he first
- 8:56Speaker 4: got there. That being said, here's the main reason why
- 8:59Speaker 4: I go with Auburn. I mean, here's the reason I
- 9:01Speaker 4: go with Tennessee. In every single defensive category right now,
- 9:05Speaker 4: with a first-year coordinator, Auburn is worse. Tennessee is better
- 9:10Speaker 4: in every single one. They're 55th in run defense. Auburn
- 9:13Speaker 4: is like 68th. In pass coverage, they're 31st. Auburn's like 118th.
- 9:16Speaker 4: In third down conversions, Tennessee is like 17. I believe
- 9:20Speaker 4: Auburn is like 48 or something along those lines. Don't
- 9:23Speaker 4: quote me on that one. I'm just kind of trying
- 9:25Speaker 4: to pull that one out real fast. I just feel
- 9:27Speaker 4: like that there's more to know that even though it
- 9:29Speaker 4: is a brand new defense, it has looked more clean
- 9:32Speaker 4: at times. Now, I don't know if the rushing attack
- 9:34Speaker 4: will be there for Deshaun Bishop and Dwayne Morris because
- 9:36Speaker 4: this is a damn good linebacking core, but I do
- 9:39Speaker 4: think that Faison Brandon will give you a reason why
- 9:40Speaker 4: to believe in Tennessee long-term. And I just can't see
- 9:43Speaker 4: that right now with Byron Brown. And you give me
- 9:45Speaker 4: the fact that I know that Josh Heupel understands the
- 9:47Speaker 4: ins and outs of an Alex Golas offense because it's
- 9:50Speaker 4: like looking in a freaking mirror from what he did
- 9:53Speaker 4: when he first started. I'm actually going to go exactly
- 9:56Speaker 4: with Tom. I'm going to go 31-17. I think this
- 9:58Speaker 4: is going to be an absolutely great game. big time
- 10:00Speaker 4: game for the passing attack to really kind of set
- 10:02Speaker 4: the tone moving forward going into the month of October.
- 10:05Speaker 3: You copycat.
- 10:07Speaker 4: I am. Sometimes copying works.
