Hasan Piker Sues Scott Jennings for $72.5 Million
According to the lawsuit, the original 2024 stream shows Piker sarcastically mocking a conservative commentator during a debate, and Jennings added a caption presenting words Piker never said as a direct quote. The complaint alleges Jennings was notified the video was false and refused to retract it.
The suit brings counts for defamation per se, defamation by implication, and false light, seeking $27.5 million in compensatory damages and $45 million in punitive damages, plus a jury trial. Piker will need to prove actual malice. Jennings has not yet responded in court.
