- 0:12Speaker 1: To the Hodaki Big Show.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Really big.
- 0:14Speaker 4: Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Oh, g'day, you mad bastards.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Great to have your company this Wednesday afternoon. It is
- 0:21Speaker 4: the 21st of October, 2026. And you, my friends, as always,
- 0:25Speaker 4: listening to the Big Show, brought to you by Reburger.
- 0:28Speaker 5: Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburger.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Reburger.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Ho, ho, ho.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I think that was cool.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I liked it.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Everybody liked it. It was great.
- 0:44Speaker 4: I like the chatty ones. I like the chatty ones.
- 0:46Speaker 4: That's all.
- 0:47Speaker 3: That was all.
- 0:48Speaker 4: That's all.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I love them as well, Pugs. Pugs just said nobody
- 0:52Speaker 1: else does. I love them as well, the chatty ones. Yeah, yeah.
- 0:54Speaker 4: No, it's all good if he can't be asked. It's fine.
- 0:56Speaker 1: But I also like the Jaws one and I like
- 0:58Speaker 1: the James Bond one.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Yeah, they're all very.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Other than that, I hate them.
- 1:01Speaker 4: I think they're his best work. Oh, I know.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Which is a sad state of affairs, isn't it?
- 1:05Speaker 4: Well, it's a little bit.
- 1:07Speaker 1: His magnum opus.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Yes. Hey, speaking of magnus opus... What?
- 1:12Speaker 3: What?
- 1:13Speaker 1: That's my new nickname. Magnus Opus. Magnus Opus.
- 1:17Speaker 4: He walked into the door today, old Mogi.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I walked into the door. Sorry about that, Phil.
- 1:21Speaker 4: He walked through the door and I was just like,
- 1:23Speaker 4: holy moly, looking good, Mogi. You got a haircut, mate.
- 1:28Speaker 3: I have.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Looking very sharp, may I say.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Thanks very much, mate. I'm going pretty grouse today, I've
- 1:32Speaker 1: got to say. I'm not sure, though. It feels like
- 1:35Speaker 1: the temperature may have dropped off a little bit. I'm
- 1:37Speaker 1: not sure where the spring has sprung. Oh, really? I
- 1:42Speaker 1: think it's unsprung. Or do you think it was maybe
- 1:44Speaker 1: a false alarm when it sprung? I'm sprung heroes.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Yesterday and the 50 days before that.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I don't know what the story is. That's the thing
- 1:51Speaker 1: with the weather. You never really know, do you?
- 1:52Speaker 6: No.
- 1:53Speaker 1: But I found it's quite cold.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It's quite cold, especially at the moment.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Very nipply. Speaking of which, how are you going, Keezy?
- 1:59Speaker 1: Keezy, you're wearing a Jason Hoyt shirt, and the one
- 2:02Speaker 1: that's sort of up there at the top right, there's
- 2:04Speaker 1: an image of Jase. That looks like someone out of
- 2:08Speaker 1: Thunderbirds there.
- 2:09Speaker 4: It really does, actually. My mum likes that photo.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Oh, does she?
- 2:12Speaker 4: When it first came out, she was like, I really
- 2:14Speaker 4: like that photo with you with the glasses.
- 2:16Speaker 6: Right.
- 2:17Speaker 4: And I went, thanks, mum.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Because she's a big Thunderbirds fan, right?
- 2:20Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Like Parker. Yeah, this is my Jason Hoyt shirt. The
- 2:24Speaker 5: reason being that this shirt was found in a second-hand store.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Yes. It's brand new.
- 2:29Speaker 5: It's brand new, but it was found in a second-hand
- 2:31Speaker 5: store by a family friend of ours who's also my mechanic.
- 2:34Speaker 5: And I took my truck there today.
- 2:35Speaker 1: To get a warrant. He's like, I'm going to give
- 2:37Speaker 1: you a warrant if you wear the Jason Hoyt shit. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 1: So I put that sucker on. Good stuff, man. How
- 2:42Speaker 1: are you, Jase, man?
- 2:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm fine, fellas.
- 2:44Speaker 3: You sure?
- 2:44Speaker 4: You know, just getting by as you do.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Is it post-holiday blues for you? Because obviously you had
- 2:49Speaker 1: a couple of weeks away, you know, big adventures over
- 2:51Speaker 1: in Australia there.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:53Speaker 1: It's a bit of a come down, isn't it? Back
- 2:55Speaker 1: to the real world. Oh, look, I.
- 2:57Speaker 4: I love working with the fellas.
- 2:59Speaker 1: With old Keezy and Magnus Opus.
- 3:01Speaker 4: It's a real joy. But I must admit, you know,
- 3:05Speaker 4: it was really nice seeing the girls and spending time
- 3:07Speaker 4: in Australia then. And I was a big fan of Australia. God,
- 3:11Speaker 4: you guys are going to go there one day, man.
- 3:13Speaker 1: It is awesome. Australia freaks me out.
- 3:15Speaker 4: I know it's intimidating.
- 3:17Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 3:18Speaker 6: It's like, whoa.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Oh, could I survive there? Hey, I'm very confident you'd
- 3:23Speaker 4: both be totally fine, and I'd be happy to take
- 3:25Speaker 4: you through it, give you tips of what to do
- 3:28Speaker 4: and what not to do, et cetera, et cetera.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Thanks, Jase. Yeah. Have we got a massive show coming
- 3:34Speaker 1: up today, or what?
- 3:36Speaker 3: What's happening on The Big Show?
- 3:42Speaker 1: We've got a new sting there, you ought to notice,
- 3:44Speaker 1: and it's sort of like Pugs doing a Santa Claus voice,
- 3:47Speaker 1: from what I can tell her, huh? A spooky Halloween one.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Can you do it again there? I'm trying to decide
- 3:51Speaker 1: if it's Santa Claus or a spooky Halloween one.
- 3:54Speaker 3: What's happening on the Big Show?
- 4:00Speaker 1: I like it. It's like a spooky Santa Claus.
- 4:02Speaker 4: He sounds constipated to me.
- 4:04Speaker 1: He does. Yeah, he's a unit.
- 4:06Speaker 4: It's just missing a ho, ho, ho.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Can we get a move on, please?
- 4:09Speaker 4: Can we focus?
- 4:10Speaker 1: Sorry about this. Guys, today we're doing another one of
- 4:13Speaker 1: our humongous giveaways, and we do it all the time.
- 4:16Speaker 1: It's the ITM trade-off. Listen out for the queue to
- 4:18Speaker 1: call and give us a bell. Tell us what tool
- 4:20Speaker 1: of yours absolutely sucks and we'll replace it for you.
- 4:24Speaker 1: That's how awesome we are. Keezy, great news, brother. I've
- 4:26Speaker 1: got an acting job for you. Oh, yes. Sweet, okay.
- 4:29Speaker 1: It's going to be amazing. And coming up next, Keezy,
- 4:32Speaker 1: a comment in a magazine has been taken out of
- 4:35Speaker 1: context and you said that this needs to kick off
- 4:37Speaker 1: every show we do. So I can't wait to hear this. What?
- 4:40Speaker 5: I said something in a magazine and it has been
- 4:42Speaker 5: taken out of context.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Hey, here's a bit of Pearl Jam.
- 4:48Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 4:52Speaker 4: The Black Keys there on the Hauraki Big Show this
- 4:55Speaker 4: Wednesday afternoon. The time is 4.14.
- 4:58Speaker 5: Fellas, I'm pretty new to this whole media business. I
- 5:01Speaker 5: know you.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Guys have been around a long time. That's true.
- 5:04Speaker 6: Yes.
- 5:04Speaker 5: Has anything you've ever said in an interview or anything
- 5:07Speaker 5: like that been taken out of context?
- 5:10Speaker 1: It's a great question.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Because I know it does happen from time to time.
- 5:13Speaker 1: What would be sort of an example?
- 5:17Speaker 5: Well, an example is what's happened to me, really. So
- 5:21Speaker 5: towards the beginning of the year, you'll know that I
- 5:23Speaker 5: was in Women's Day.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Boy, I remember. I've still got that magazine in my bog.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Yeah, in your bog, is it? Yeah. In the toilet.
- 5:32Speaker 4: No, not in the toilet. You know, where the toilet is.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Yeah, cool. Yeah. So, yeah, I was in Women's Day.
- 5:38Speaker 5: And while I was doing it, the photographer– took a
- 5:40Speaker 5: photo of my truck, because I've got an old Chevy truck,
- 5:43Speaker 5: and he's like, oh, do you mind if I send
- 5:44Speaker 5: this off to AA Magazine?
- 5:47Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 5:47Speaker 5: So like if you're an AA member, you get sent
- 5:50Speaker 5: a magazine every.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Quarter or something. I've no idea. And I was like, yeah, sure.
- 5:54Speaker 5: So he took a photo of me by my truck,
- 5:55Speaker 5: sent it in, and someone called me for an interview.
- 5:57Speaker 5: This is months ago.
- 5:57Speaker 4: From AA?
- 5:59Speaker 1: From AA. Yes. Called me. The Automobile Association. That's the one.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Not Alcoholics Anonymous.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Oh, no, no, no, no. Because you can't associate that with.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Cars no i wouldn't think so i wouldn't want to
- 6:10Speaker 4: be in that magazine no um just because i'm not not.
- 6:14Speaker 7: Clean out of the closet yeah well i wouldn't say
- 6:19Speaker 7: um so do an interview about my truck my truckie
- 6:23Speaker 7: um and it's published and i'm reading the article on
- 6:26Speaker 7: my it's all g because they sent me a copy
- 6:27Speaker 7: of it but.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Then i've had about 10 messages on instagram the text
- 6:32Speaker 5: machine here and just various people have said to me
- 6:35Speaker 5: and they've quoted something I said. Now, I'm going to
- 6:37Speaker 5: read out the particular little paragraph, see if you can
- 6:40Speaker 5: spot the thing that's been taken out of context. In summer,
- 6:44Speaker 5: I drive it to work whenever it's sunny. I work
- 6:48Speaker 5: at Radio Hodaki, and on a nice day, I'll drive
- 6:50Speaker 5: from West Auckland and park my Bogan Chevy pickup next
- 6:53Speaker 5: to Mike Hosking's Audi or Porsche or whatever he's driving
- 6:56Speaker 5: this week. I get a lot of attention from dudes
- 6:59Speaker 5: my dad's age because it's a left-hand drive.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Did you spot that?
- 7:04Speaker 4: Yeah, okay.
- 7:05Speaker 1: You spot the issue there? There's a couple of things there. One,
- 7:09Speaker 1: I don't think you parked next to Mike Hoskins. No,
- 7:11Speaker 1: we're actually in a different car park. Yeah, he's in
- 7:13Speaker 1: the actual building.
- 7:14Speaker 4: You have to park over miles away.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a bit of a joke. I have
- 7:19Speaker 1: parked it before, but ages ago. So there's that lie,
- 7:23Speaker 1: and then what was the other one?
- 7:24Speaker 5: I get a lot of attention from dudes my dad's age.
- 7:27Speaker 1: You do, though. Yeah. No, totally.
- 7:29Speaker 4: Even when you're over in Japan.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Yeah, when you're at the onsen.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Onsen, there.
- 7:34Speaker 1: You've got a lot of attention from all the dudes. Well, actually,
- 7:37Speaker 1: to be honest, you mean the stool?
- 7:40Speaker 4: Huh?
- 7:41Speaker 1: That was.
- 7:43Speaker 5: But what I meant when I said the quote is that, like,
- 7:45Speaker 5: a lot of older fellas in their 60s will be like, ah,
- 7:49Speaker 5: and just strike up a conversation. Like, I am getting
- 7:51Speaker 5: a lot of attention from dudes my dad's age.
- 7:52Speaker 1: A little chit-chat, yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 5: Whereas people are sending it to me like, oh, Keezy
- 7:55Speaker 5: getting a lot of attention from.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Older men, you know?
- 7:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Come around here often? Yeah, yeah. No, no.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Young fella.
- 8:03Speaker 1: It's usually about the truck, you know?
- 8:04Speaker 4: Right.
- 8:05Speaker 5: Do you ever sleep in your bed there over there
- 8:08Speaker 5: on the old truck?
- 8:09Speaker 4: Put a little mattress down there and sleep under the stars?
- 8:12Speaker 1: No, they don't say any of that stuff. No, they don't.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Or make the sound effects. But I just went like,
- 8:18Speaker 1: what do I do here? Do I write to AA?
- 8:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:21Speaker 5: And say, hey, could you just redact that comment? Or
- 8:24Speaker 5: do I just rise above it and just say, hey,
- 8:26Speaker 5: if you're going to be silly about it.
- 8:28Speaker 4: I think you own it, Keezy.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yeah, you do.
- 8:31Speaker 4: You totally need to own it.
- 8:34Speaker 6: Right.
- 8:34Speaker 4: So old dudes give you a lot of attention, that's fine.
- 8:37Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong with that.
- 8:38Speaker 4: There's nothing wrong with that.
- 8:38Speaker 1: No, no, no, no.
- 8:39Speaker 4: You've got to take that opportunity with two hands. Totally.
- 8:43Speaker 4: And the point is, by trying to suddenly remove it,
- 8:48Speaker 4: thus the attention becomes even more intense. Because they were like,
- 8:52Speaker 4: why did Keezy remove that line? Or why did they
- 8:55Speaker 4: remove that line about old dudes being into Keezy?
- 8:59Speaker 3: Yes.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Well, so old dudes are into me. I chat to
- 9:03Speaker 5: them a lot about the truck. Because I was going
- 9:05Speaker 5: to go on the radio and just say, hey. So
- 9:07Speaker 5: you're chatting to them. So an example of like you
- 9:09Speaker 5: chat to them all the time. You're like, hey, hey there,
- 9:11Speaker 5: old fella.
- 9:12Speaker 1: You want to go for a ride on my truckie?
- 9:18Speaker 1: Were you eavesdropping? So you think it's all good just
- 9:23Speaker 1: to own it?
- 9:24Speaker 4: Yeah, just own it, man. Hey. You are who you are, Keezy.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I am what I am.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Just be you, man.
- 9:33Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 9:36Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Arctic Monkeys there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 9:41Speaker 4: Wednesday afternoon. The time is 4.26. And fellas, I've got
- 9:46Speaker 4: a bone to pick. I've got a bone to pick.
- 9:51Speaker 4: And this is a virus that's infesting the world. And
- 9:58Speaker 4: I had yet another example of it last night.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Night.
- 10:00Speaker 4: You'll recall, of course, that I recently went on a
- 10:03Speaker 4: trip to Australia.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 10:05Speaker 4: The big hoity-jay roadie, we called it.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Wasn't it your big OE? Across the ditch.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Across the ditch, driving down from Sydney to Melbourne.
- 10:13Speaker 5: Beautiful.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Anyway, obviously we hired a car. And when we hired
- 10:19Speaker 4: the car, they said to us, now look, if you
- 10:22Speaker 4: use the toll road, obviously you've got to pay the toll,
- 10:27Speaker 4: and that'll come out of the credit card you've given us.
- 10:29Speaker 4: And they tend to happen at the end of the month.
- 10:31Speaker 4: And we were like, oh, gee, that's all, gee. That
- 10:34Speaker 4: makes sense. Now, for people that don't understand, Australia seems
- 10:38Speaker 4: to have a lot of toll roads.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Australia's overseas, isn't it?
- 10:42Speaker 4: Yeah, it's overseas there. It's overseas. But they do have
- 10:45Speaker 4: a lot of toll roads.
- 10:47Speaker 1: They've got a lot. User pays, Jase. User pays. You
- 10:49Speaker 1: don't use it, you don't have to worry about it.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Well, exactly.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Oh, that makes sense.
- 10:53Speaker 4: So anyway, last night my wife and I were sitting
- 10:55Speaker 4: in our lounge. They're just having a bit of a
- 10:57Speaker 4: chitter chat. And she gets an email from the hiring
- 11:01Speaker 4: company saying, okay, so your tolls will come out probably
- 11:07Speaker 4: at the end of the month. And we were like, okay,
- 11:09Speaker 4: because that's when they tend to, they take a little
- 11:11Speaker 4: while to process. And then underneath that was an additional charge,
- 11:18Speaker 4: what they called a penalty charge. And that was, and
- 11:21Speaker 4: this is not a word of a lie, $ 5 Australian
- 11:25Speaker 4: for every time you used a toll road.
- 11:28Speaker 1: How is it a penalty, though?
- 11:30Speaker 4: Well, that's right. We're paying the toll, so why were
- 11:33Speaker 4: we being penalised $ 5 because we used a toll road? Now,
- 11:39Speaker 4: you might go, you know, $ 5 Australian, that's not a
- 11:42Speaker 4: lot of cash. It's about $ 6 New Zealand at the moment.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 11:46Speaker 4: And, you know, I think we probably used maybe $ 10,
- 11:48Speaker 4: $ 12 toll. You know, these things add up. But I
- 11:52Speaker 4: am sick and tired of these hidden and additional charges.
- 11:56Speaker 4: You look at your banks. You look at your, you know,
- 11:59Speaker 4: your ticker ticks, you know, ticket processing fee, $ 589. You know,
- 12:06Speaker 4: you remember, you remember when I signed up for that
- 12:09Speaker 4: bloody chair yoga.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. The app on your phone.
- 12:13Speaker 4: The app on my phone.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 4: You know, and it's like this amount a month. Oh, yes,
- 12:17Speaker 4: but also additional charges of this and this. Admin fee.
- 12:21Speaker 4: I'm sick and tired because someone out there, there are
- 12:24Speaker 4: people out there, and I think this happens, that people
- 12:28Speaker 4: don't really pay attention to it. You know, or they
- 12:30Speaker 4: just go, oh, well, I can't be bothered worrying about that.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Just pull the wool over this idiot's eyes. You know,
- 12:34Speaker 1: he's bought himself, you know, a little app there for
- 12:37Speaker 1: chair yoga. You know, we'll charge him 80 bucks a month.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Bet he hasn't looked at the cost. Next thing you know,
- 12:41Speaker 1: six months later.
- 12:42Speaker 4: A fortune. An absolute bloody fortune.
- 12:45Speaker 5: And let's not forget as well your Apple TV subscription
- 12:47Speaker 5: that you can't even log into.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Yeah, well, that's right.
- 12:49Speaker 4: Don't get me started on that.
- 12:51Speaker 1: No, that's Big Apple going at you there. It's not
- 12:53Speaker 1: Jase having a shocker. But you know what I mean, though.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I agree.
- 12:55Speaker 5: There's a lot of hidden charges because what you do
- 12:57Speaker 5: is you go, oh, that's how much this thing I'm
- 12:59Speaker 5: going to buy costs.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yes.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Two tickets to this thing. It's going to be 200
- 13:03Speaker 5: bucks all up. And then you go to buy it
- 13:04Speaker 5: and it's like, oh, it's actually 217.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Can I direct your attention to Airbnb? Yes.
- 13:09Speaker 4: Yes, you can. I was just about to say the
- 13:11Speaker 4: same thing.
- 13:12Speaker 1: You have a look. It's $ 200 per night. You go, yes, please,
- 13:15Speaker 1: five nights. That should be $ 1, 000. Oh, administration fees, cleaning fees,
- 13:20Speaker 1: you name it, fees, and that's another $ 800. Can I say, Jason,
- 13:24Speaker 1: I don't mean to put it this way because it's
- 13:25Speaker 1: bad language. It's bullshit.
- 13:27Speaker 4: It's total bullshit, and I've had enough. What are we
- 13:30Speaker 4: going to do about it? And I think as a
- 13:31Speaker 4: big show, we need to make a stand about this.
- 13:35Speaker 1: What do we have to do?
- 13:35Speaker 4: We need to make more of a noise about it
- 13:37Speaker 4: because there's people out there that are struggling to put
- 13:41Speaker 4: food on the table that are getting whacked with these
- 13:43Speaker 4: sort of charges all the time by unscrupulous human beings.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I agree. They're hiding behind big companies. They're hiding behind
- 13:51Speaker 1: these named brands. But it's the individual. Where are the
- 13:54Speaker 1: consciences of these people, Jase, I would ask you? Non-existent.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Well, my wife and I bought theatre tickets the other day, Mogi.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Why'd you bother?
- 14:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. I don't even like the show. But,
- 14:03Speaker 4: you know, so the same thing again. It was like,
- 14:06Speaker 4: this is the price of the ticket. Oh, okay. Well,
- 14:08Speaker 4: that should be $ 565. And then, doosh, doosh, process the
- 14:12Speaker 4: ticket processing fee.
- 14:14Speaker 1: It's the price of the ticket. It should be the
- 14:17Speaker 1: price of the ticket. To process it, it should be
- 14:20Speaker 1: the cost of the goddamn thing. Yes.
- 14:23Speaker 5: What do you think, New Zealand? Give us a call
- 14:25Speaker 5: on 0800 HODAKI. Are we doing talkback?
- 14:28Speaker 4: Is that what we're doing here? Oh, we can do talkback.
- 14:30Speaker 4: I don't know. Or text us on 3483 and go
- 14:32Speaker 4: on the draw to win a $ 50 Reburger voucher.
- 14:35Speaker 1: But once we take the fees and everything off that voucher,
- 14:37Speaker 1: it'll be a dollar. No, that's not actually true. Rieberger
- 14:39Speaker 1: doesn't do that.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Oh, don't they?
- 14:41Speaker 1: What a good bastard.
- 14:41Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 14:45Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Orange Crush there by REM on the Radio Hauraki Big
- 14:51Speaker 4: Show this Wednesday afternoon. The time is 4.50. Fellas, let's
- 14:55Speaker 4: talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Yeah!
- 15:04Speaker 4: That's right.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Fellas and that, I didn't watch anything last night. I
- 15:09Speaker 1: finished a book, got a book called Roll the Calls
- 15:12Speaker 1: by Ari Emanuel. He is an American agent for actors, autobiography.
- 15:18Speaker 1: He's the guy that played Ari in the TV show.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I didn't play him. Inspired the character Ari on Entourage.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Pretty good book. Read it, liked it. Read it if
- 15:29Speaker 1: you want to know about stuff that is related to
- 15:32Speaker 1: Hollywood deals and things like that. Yeah, man. Shocking bastard, though.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Jesus is a shocking bastard. How many buzzies out of five?
- 15:40Speaker 1: Not amazing. 3.8. 3.8 out of a possible five buzzies.
- 15:43Speaker 1: But decent. Good, yeah, definitely worth a read if you're
- 15:46Speaker 1: into that stuff. He's one of the greats. He went
- 15:49Speaker 1: from having nothing to now he's worth over a billion dollars.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Wow.
- 15:53Speaker 4: My wife and I started watching one of those true
- 15:55Speaker 4: crime things, you know, and it was about, you know,
- 15:59Speaker 4: the whole drug industry and so forth. And this pharmacist,
- 16:03Speaker 4: his son gets murdered and he has to try and find,
- 16:06Speaker 4: you know, they can't find the murderer and it becomes
- 16:09Speaker 4: his life quest to find the murderer. We got about
- 16:11Speaker 4: 20 or 30 minutes into it, and I said to
- 16:14Speaker 4: my wife, I'm not doing this. I don't want to
- 16:17Speaker 4: do this. Yeah. Let's just can it there and have
- 16:20Speaker 4: some chitty chat.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Oh, God. She was like, nah.
- 16:23Speaker 4: She was like, nah, I might go to bed and
- 16:25Speaker 4: read my book. And I went, fair.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Boom.
- 16:29Speaker 1: What was it called?
- 16:30Speaker 4: I can't even remember, man.
- 16:31Speaker 5: So last night, we started watching, do you remember I
- 16:35Speaker 5: was obsessed with Celebrity Traders of the UK?
- 16:38Speaker 7: Oh, yes.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Last season, I said it was one of the best
- 16:41Speaker 5: reality TV shows.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I've ever watched in my life. You've seen them all.
- 16:44Speaker 1: In particular.
- 16:45Speaker 5: To be honest, I don't really like reality TV, but
- 16:47Speaker 5: that show was magnificent. Full of UK comedians and big names.
- 16:52Speaker 5: This season, it's back.
- 16:53Speaker 1: It's on three.
- 16:54Speaker 5: Three now, I think. And there's about five episodes out
- 16:57Speaker 5: at the moment. And they've got some great names, and
- 16:59Speaker 5: there's some really good UK comedians like Rob Beckett.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Remember he came in here once?
- 17:02Speaker 3: Yes.
- 17:03Speaker 5: Rob Romish, Ranga Nathan, James Acaster. Like, really great. James
- 17:07Speaker 5: Blunt is on there.
- 17:08Speaker 1: He's hilarious. Ross Kemp. Yeah. Ross Kemp on Gangs.
- 17:12Speaker 5: It's just a great mix of very well-known UK celebrities.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Richard E.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Grant.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Richard E.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Grant.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Now, when he came on, I said to my wife, oh,
- 17:22Speaker 5: Mogi and Hoity J love Richard E. Grant, especially one
- 17:25Speaker 5: of their favorite movies is Whip Nail and I.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Yes, yes. Played by Richard E. Grant.
- 17:29Speaker 5: And I told her this and she was like, oh, cool.
- 17:31Speaker 5: I kind of recognise him, don't know much about him.
- 17:33Speaker 5: After one episode, she hates him. She hates him.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Extraordinary life he's actually led, but yeah, no, fair enough.
- 17:41Speaker 5: But I keep sticking up for him because I know
- 17:43Speaker 5: he's a magnificent actor and a very interesting human. But
- 17:46Speaker 5: he's being a massive idiot on the show.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Didn't he come out and do something immediately which ruffled
- 17:52Speaker 1: a lot of feathers?
- 17:52Speaker 5: He came out and did something very early doors which
- 17:55Speaker 5: almost ruined the show.
- 17:57Speaker 1: And my wife, instantly, she is like this. She's just
- 17:59Speaker 1: off him. Yeah, right, that's it. You've had your chance. Yeah,
- 18:01Speaker 1: her Punisher.
- 18:02Speaker 5: Alarm's gone off and she's like, I don't like you.
- 18:03Speaker 4: But is it... A bad move, you know, off the bat,
- 18:09Speaker 4: or is it one of those, I'm going to be
- 18:10Speaker 4: the bad guy?
- 18:11Speaker 5: Sort of that, but he kind of admitted afterwards that
- 18:15Speaker 5: it was an accident and he shouldn't have done it.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah. And he got too excited. He also, I saw
- 18:19Speaker 1: a clip of him talking to Rob Beckett. Now, Rob Beckett,
- 18:22Speaker 1: known for having a real set of gnashes on him,
- 18:25Speaker 1: he's got some teeth. Huge teeth, yeah. And they're chatting
- 18:27Speaker 1: away there, and Richard E. Grant said to him, do
- 18:29Speaker 1: you have more teeth than the normal person? Because he
- 18:34Speaker 1: does have massive teeth.
- 18:35Speaker 4: Yes.
- 18:36Speaker 5: And look, I keep sticking up for Richard E. Grant
- 18:38Speaker 5: because I know you guys, you know, he's a great
- 18:39Speaker 5: actor in there.
- 18:40Speaker 4: Look, I'll be honest with you. Richard E. Grant was
- 18:42Speaker 4: brilliant in Withnail and I. I can take him or
- 18:45Speaker 4: leave him.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I don't need you defending him to your wife. I
- 18:48Speaker 1: don't even know the guy.
- 18:48Speaker 4: I'm with your wife on this.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you're a shocker.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Really? Yeah, totally.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Well, it's not me being a shocker. Okay.
- 18:53Speaker 5: But I'll say, even though he was a bit of
- 18:55Speaker 5: an idiot to begin with. The things that have happened
- 18:58Speaker 5: since then, it's back to being great. It's not as
- 19:01Speaker 5: good yet anywhere near as good as the first season.
- 19:03Speaker 5: I recommend go and watch it on 3 now. The
- 19:05Speaker 5: first season is magnificent. But still, I'm happy to have
- 19:09Speaker 5: another show to watch. This season, I'm giving it 3.7 buzzies.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Out of 5 at the moment.
- 19:14Speaker 5: Last season, I gave it a good 5 reality TV
- 19:16Speaker 5: buzzies out of 5.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you did.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Interesting.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Traders UK Celebrity on 3 now. Here's Blink 182.
- 19:26Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 19:29Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're getting through your
- 19:34Speaker 4: hump day, tickety-boo. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally,
- 19:37Speaker 4: brought to you by Reburg Air.
- 19:39Speaker 5: Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats that will change
- 19:42Speaker 5: the game.
- 19:47Speaker 4: Any last words?
- 19:50Speaker 6: Yeah, well, actually, now that you mention it, well, you
- 19:54Speaker 6: should probably know. Actually, all of you probably should. Reap-A-Gear
- 20:00Speaker 6: is crave-worthy, handcrafted, and that's all street food.
- 20:06Speaker 4: So, yeah, yeah.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:12Speaker 4: You see?
- 20:13Speaker 1: There you go, man.
- 20:14Speaker 4: You see?
- 20:15Speaker 3: What?
- 20:16Speaker 4: It's great stuff.
- 20:18Speaker 1: They're all great, Jason.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Yeah, they are all great, but I do like the
- 20:21Speaker 4: chitty-chatty ones.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Yeah, same. 100%.
- 20:24Speaker 4: They always give me an urge for Reburger, strangely enough.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Yeah, when was the last time you've had it, James?
- 20:30Speaker 4: Seriously, I haven't had it for ages, fellas. I've been away.
- 20:34Speaker 4: But I'll be filling my boots this weekend. Don't you
- 20:37Speaker 4: worry about it.
- 20:38Speaker 1: When you say fill your boots. When you say I'll. Yeah,
- 20:41Speaker 1: and you.
- 20:43Speaker 5: Obviously, you physically are not going to go to Reburger
- 20:45Speaker 5: and put it in your shoes, right?
- 20:47Speaker 6: No.
- 20:48Speaker 1: You're not going to go at all?
- 20:49Speaker 6: I am.
- 20:50Speaker 4: You bloody oath I am.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:52Speaker 4: I don't know why you guys seem to have this
- 20:54Speaker 4: weird perception that I don't do the things I say.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Well, the thing is, you've got this weird thing where
- 21:00Speaker 5: you think because there's a sponsor's product, you have to
- 21:03Speaker 5: pretend like you're always in there.
- 21:05Speaker 1: What?
- 21:05Speaker 4: Look, I have meetings in there often.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Where was the last one? Who did you meet with?
- 21:11Speaker 4: It was pre-Australia, so it was about three weeks ago.
- 21:14Speaker 5: Right.
- 21:14Speaker 1: What was the meeting about?
- 21:17Speaker 4: Just about my marriage and, you know.
- 21:18Speaker 6: My wife.
- 21:19Speaker 1: What? You had a meeting with your wife about your marriage.
- 21:23Speaker 1: A marriage meeting.
- 21:24Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, and I meet mates there. I go, oh,
- 21:27Speaker 4: you know, we'll be having a bit of a chitty chat.
- 21:29Speaker 4: We'll be having a bit of a chitty chat. And
- 21:31Speaker 4: I'll go, well, how about, where should we meet up?
- 21:34Speaker 4: What about Reburg you?
- 21:35Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Yeah, right. No, I believe you. Yeah, it makes sense.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I'm actually thinking of going to Reburg in a night.
- 21:41Speaker 4: Yeah, well.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I bet you'll run into each other there.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Well, no, I don't live out west anymore.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 4: I try to avoid the place if I can.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Hey, just looking at the old content sheet we've got here. Yeah,
- 21:54Speaker 1: it's a big bag. The show prep.
- 21:57Speaker 5: Mike, you've got some exciting news for me. I'm very
- 21:58Speaker 5: fizzed up about this.
- 21:59Speaker 1: That's right, man. It's exciting stuff. I've got you an
- 22:02Speaker 1: acting job. I've been talking to Jase about it, obviously.
- 22:03Speaker 1: He's your agent. I don't want to step on any
- 22:05Speaker 1: toes there. But this is a slam dunk. I didn't
- 22:07Speaker 1: think of anyone else for the role. That's great. Beautiful.
- 22:10Speaker 1: And Jase, you're all G with it.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Yeah, mate, I'm totally all G with it.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Oh, that's huge.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Here's the white stripe.
- 22:16Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Oasis there on the Hodaki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon.
- 22:24Speaker 4: The time is 5.16. Bloody exciting news for you, Keezy, man.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Things are looking up for you, brother. Really?
- 22:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Got a bit of an acting job for you. I've
- 22:33Speaker 1: run this past Hoiti Jizz, and he is, I think
- 22:37Speaker 1: you're behind me on this, Jase.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Yeah, totally, mate. Any kind of work that you can
- 22:42Speaker 4: get him. Because, you know, I've been struggling. So I
- 22:45Speaker 4: was very excited to hear the news.
- 22:46Speaker 5: Well, just on this before we even get started. So
- 22:48Speaker 5: because you found me the job, Mike, and you've run
- 22:50Speaker 5: it past my agent, Jase, that doesn't mean I'm getting
- 22:52Speaker 5: two agents commissions.
- 22:53Speaker 1: No, I want to be quite clear on that. I'm
- 22:55Speaker 1: happy to pay, Keezy. I'm a very straight shooter when
- 22:58Speaker 1: it comes to that. I'm the client. I've gone to
- 22:59Speaker 1: your agent. I've got an opportunity for you. But, you know,
- 23:02Speaker 1: since we're here, I thought I'd run it past you.
- 23:04Speaker 1: As we know, I've had some issues with a Tui
- 23:07Speaker 1: that's been outside my house. Been living there for a
- 23:09Speaker 1: couple of years. He shuts up during winter but doesn't
- 23:11Speaker 1: shut up. over your spring and summer period. He's looking
- 23:13Speaker 1: for a mate. And he's also a territorial bastard. Yes.
- 23:18Speaker 1: So at our neighbour's house, there's a huge tree. It's
- 23:23Speaker 1: the tallest tree all the way around, as far as
- 23:26Speaker 1: the eye can see. In all the land. In all
- 23:28Speaker 1: the land. Thank you very much. This is the best tree. 100%
- 23:31Speaker 1: it is. And unfortunately, it's right next to my window.
- 23:34Speaker 1: And so every single morning, quarter to four, four o'clock,
- 23:37Speaker 1: this bastard starts up. and just starts yarning about, hey,
- 23:42Speaker 1: this is my land, et cetera, et cetera. Any ladies
- 23:46Speaker 1: out there, I'm keen, et cetera, et cetera.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Check out my tree.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Check out my tree, et cetera, et cetera. Biggest in
- 23:52Speaker 1: the land. Right, okay, I don't see what this is.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Plenty of wood. Yada, yada, yada. So what I want
- 23:59Speaker 1: to do is have it not round there anymore. I
- 24:02Speaker 1: need it to shut up, but apparently it's not cool.
- 24:06Speaker 1: to chop down big trees or kill local flora and fauna.
- 24:11Speaker 1: So I've come up with a plan, Keezy, and it's
- 24:13Speaker 1: a cunning plan. Now, this is what I need from you.
- 24:17Speaker 1: You dress up as a tui, all right? Stay with
- 24:21Speaker 1: me here.
- 24:21Speaker 5: Okay, because I'm already pretty out on the idea so far.
- 24:25Speaker 1: You dress up as a tui. Right. You climb up
- 24:28Speaker 1: the tree into the nest of this tui here. Okay,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and I shoo him off. No, no.
- 24:34Speaker 4: No, no, no, no.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Because what he wants is a mate. As soon as
- 24:37Speaker 1: he gets a mate, he's happy as. Like a friend? No. No, no, no.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Mating season. Sexual. And I'm not sure whether they have
- 24:46Speaker 1: a lifetime partner or what. That's something you'll have to
- 24:48Speaker 1: negotiate with him.
- 24:49Speaker 4: One on one.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Well, I've already got a life partner. One on one.
- 24:51Speaker 4: I get a prenup.
- 24:51Speaker 1: But you'll certainly be there for, it could be three
- 24:54Speaker 1: to six months. In a tree outside your window. Well,
- 24:59Speaker 1: the thing about Liz, if you make him happy, he's
- 25:03Speaker 1: going to quieten right down. And I just think about
- 25:06Speaker 1: your experience with Keezy on all wings looking over his
- 25:09Speaker 1: beak with me. Keezy, you've got a natural affinity for
- 25:11Speaker 1: our feathered friends.
- 25:12Speaker 5: My racing pigeon, it didn't win a single race.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Or even come close.
- 25:15Speaker 4: I just need to clarify one thing that we didn't. clarify, Mogi,
- 25:20Speaker 4: which I'm sure is all G with you. Obviously, you'll
- 25:22Speaker 4: provide a costume for Keezy to wear. Obviously, you won't
- 25:24Speaker 4: need a beak. Thanks for clarifying that, Jase. So you
- 25:29Speaker 4: will be, yeah, no, good.
- 25:31Speaker 1: 100%, 100%. And I want you to have your own
- 25:34Speaker 1: water bowl and all that sort of stuff up there
- 25:35Speaker 1: as well. I'll have a water bowl. Thank you. For
- 25:39Speaker 1: showering and stuff, because the thing is, I would normally
- 25:42Speaker 1: let you into the house to shower and eat with us,
- 25:44Speaker 1: but we can't throw this tui off the ruse.
- 25:47Speaker 4: Yes, very important.
- 25:49Speaker 5: Do you think that there might be some issues in
- 25:51Speaker 5: terms of me communicating with this tui and the fact
- 25:54Speaker 5: that I'm quite large compared to a tui?
- 25:57Speaker 1: You look, I don't think this tui is going to
- 25:59Speaker 1: be fussy.
- 26:00Speaker 4: It's been a long time, hasn't he?
- 26:02Speaker 1: It has been a bloody long time. I've not seen
- 26:04Speaker 1: any other bird anywhere near him. So, you know, you
- 26:08Speaker 1: might be slightly bigger than the norm, but he's going
- 26:10Speaker 1: to be stoked.
- 26:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Absolutely stoked.
- 26:13Speaker 4: He'll be like, she is a formidable bird.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Yes, that's right. Think of all the monstrous baby Tui
- 26:20Speaker 1: we'll have together. Sorry, I feel like I'm getting pimped
- 26:23Speaker 1: out to a Tui. Is that what's happening? No, not
- 26:25Speaker 1: pimped out. Oh, acting. Well, no, not pimped out. Right, okay, acting.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Because there has to be money changing. Yeah, well, exactly right.
- 26:32Speaker 1: And this is just experience. Oh, is this for exposure
- 26:35Speaker 1: and experience? Yeah, yeah.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:37Speaker 4: Can you give us a little sort of.
- 26:39Speaker 1: To-wit-to-woo?
- 26:40Speaker 4: Yeah, to-wit-to-woo, a little bird call perhaps?
- 26:47Speaker 6: Brilliant.
- 26:49Speaker 1: You've got the job. So good. You've got the job.
- 26:51Speaker 4: Well done, man.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Can I get back to you on it? You
- 26:56Speaker 1: start tomorrow. Oh, what?
- 26:58Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 27:01Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Let's see who's
- 27:09Speaker 2: winning an ITM Toolbox trade-off from the big show on
- 27:12Speaker 2: Radio Hauraki.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'm going to be honest with you, fellas.
- 27:15Speaker 4: The people are absolutely loving this, the ITM Toolbox trade-off.
- 27:21Speaker 1: That's right.
- 27:22Speaker 5: It's all in celebration of the ITM Toolbox top-up sale,
- 27:26Speaker 5: which is on right now, October through November as well.
- 27:29Speaker 5: The best deals on the best tools.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Best time to get in there too, you know, heading
- 27:32Speaker 4: into spring and summer, get some jobs done around the place.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Bloody great stuff.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I couldn't agree more.
- 27:41Speaker 5: That's good stuff, fellas. The way this works, you call
- 27:44Speaker 5: in on 0800 HODUCKY. We have a bit of a
- 27:46Speaker 5: chitty chat there. We then trade your tool thanks to ATM.
- 27:50Speaker 5: But you've got to call through, tell us a bit
- 27:52Speaker 5: about the tool you'd like to trade.
- 27:53Speaker 1: All right?
- 27:53Speaker 4: Yeah, let's do it, man. Let's go to the phone line. G'day, Paul,
- 27:57Speaker 4: you mad bastard. How's life? G'day, fellas. You're not bad,
- 28:01Speaker 4: not bad.
- 28:01Speaker 1: G'day, fellas.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Yeah, good on you, mate. Tell me, Paul, what do
- 28:05Speaker 4: you do for a crust? I'm a builder.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Backbone.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Backbone. Then you'll be loving this. Oh, absolutely.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Hey, Paul, what is the tool that you would like
- 28:18Speaker 1: to trade?
- 28:19Speaker 4: Oh, there's so many, but it has to be my impact.
- 28:21Speaker 1: It's about to shit the bed. Oh, really? Yeah, it's
- 28:25Speaker 1: not good. Your impact is shitting the bed.
- 28:28Speaker 5: So just forgive me, but I don't understand what that
- 28:31Speaker 5: sentence means.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Is it your impact driver? Is that right?
- 28:34Speaker 4: Yeah, correct.
- 28:34Speaker 1: I know, mate. Yeah, mate.
- 28:36Speaker 4: She's on her last legs.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Right, okay. Is it a she, is it? Yeah. And
- 28:42Speaker 1: she's about to shit the bed. Yeah, she's about to
- 28:45Speaker 1: shit the bed.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Yeah, okay.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Put some nappies on her, man. Carry on.
- 28:48Speaker 5: Okay, so let's look and see what we can trade
- 28:51Speaker 5: here with you. Paul, what colour is your existing impact driver?
- 28:57Speaker 3: Yellow.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Okay.
- 28:58Speaker 4: Yeah, they often are. Yellow's very popular amongst tools.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Makes them easier to spot.
- 29:03Speaker 3: True.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Is that what it is? Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right,
- 29:06Speaker 1: just looking here.
- 29:07Speaker 5: Well, I'll tell you what I can do there, Paul,
- 29:10Speaker 5: in beautiful Tauranga there. I will trade your impact driver
- 29:14Speaker 5: that's about to do poos in the bed with a
- 29:17Speaker 5: DeWalt 12-volt cordless green beam laser level kit with $ 714
- 29:21Speaker 5: plus GST, all right?
- 29:23Speaker 1: Oh, you little ripper. Thanks, the boy. No worries, man.
- 29:28Speaker 5: That includes a green beam laser level plus a bonus
- 29:31Speaker 5: mini tripod and laser distance measure of higher redemption.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Yeah, it's great. He'll be the coolest dude on the site, man.
- 29:38Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
- 29:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 1: The coolest fella on the site.
- 29:42Speaker 5: And Paul, also, mate, not only that, thanks to ITM,
- 29:45Speaker 5: you're also in the draw to win $ 500 drawn this Friday,
- 29:48Speaker 5: all right?
- 29:49Speaker 3: Beautiful.
- 29:49Speaker 4: Thanks to boys and ITM. Yeah, good idea, mate.
- 29:53Speaker 1: All right, you hold the line, Paul, and make sure
- 29:54Speaker 1: you get your phone on you on Friday as well, okay? Thanks,
- 29:57Speaker 1: my mate. Lovely fella old Paul there. He's a beautiful fella,
- 30:00Speaker 1: isn't he?
- 30:01Speaker 4: I tell you, you know, your builders are characters, aren't they?
- 30:03Speaker 1: They can be.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Sometimes they're not.
- 30:06Speaker 1: No, sometimes they're shockers.
- 30:07Speaker 4: I tell you what.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Absolute shockers. The amount of times I've come home and
- 30:11Speaker 1: found builders in my house, I've done all sorts.
- 30:13Speaker 6: Really?
- 30:13Speaker 1: Right, yeah, yeah. Shockers.
- 30:16Speaker 4: Oh, I've had some of the best times on site.
- 30:17Speaker 4: You know what I mean? There's some funny bastards, I
- 30:19Speaker 4: tell you.
- 30:20Speaker 1: What are you doing on site?
- 30:22Speaker 4: Well, what do you think, man? Working hard, Daisy.
- 30:24Speaker 1: He was working for old Charlie Gubb there delivering the portaloos. Oh, really?
- 30:28Speaker 1: They'd suck out the poos and all that.
- 30:31Speaker 5: But you didn't need a machine, did you? Don't forget,
- 30:34Speaker 5: ITM's Toolbox top-up sale is on right now. It runs
- 30:37Speaker 5: through October and November at ITM. Head to Hodaki Socials
- 30:41Speaker 5: as well for your chance to score yourself an ITM
- 30:43Speaker 5: merch pack.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Great stuff, mate.
- 30:46Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 30:49Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Radiohead there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Wednesday evening.
- 30:57Speaker 4: The time is 5.42, which means it's time for....
- 31:02Speaker 1: What's on the news? With me, KZ. Fellas, huge news
- 31:10Speaker 1: in the news today.
- 31:12Speaker 5: This has just come across my desk, and fair to say,
- 31:15Speaker 5: as soon as I saw it, I knew we had
- 31:16Speaker 5: to speak about it straight away. One of New Zealand's
- 31:19Speaker 5: most recognisable couples.
- 31:21Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 31:22Speaker 5: They finally divorced. We're talking JJ Feeney and Dom Harvey.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Wow.
- 31:27Speaker 6: Wow.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Jeez. You're joking.
- 31:30Speaker 6: Wow.
- 31:30Speaker 1: I thought they were going to be together forever.
- 31:32Speaker 4: So did I.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Same.
- 31:33Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 31:34Speaker 6: Same.
- 31:34Speaker 1: I know. I know.
- 31:35Speaker 6: Whoa.
- 31:35Speaker 4: When did you find that out?
- 31:36Speaker 1: Well, it just came across my desk today, just now. Oh, jeez. And,
- 31:41Speaker 1: you know, because they've been apart for a while. What?
- 31:43Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:44Speaker 1: But they're living separately.
- 31:45Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:47Speaker 5: And quote here, marriage didn't quite work out for us,
- 31:50Speaker 5: but friendship certainly did.
- 31:52Speaker 6: Oh.
- 31:52Speaker 1: That's good. Which is nice.
- 31:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:54Speaker 1: But it's official. They're divorced.
- 31:57Speaker 5: Divorced.
- 31:58Speaker 1: And I, for one, am sad. But I'm also happy.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Why are you so sad?
- 32:02Speaker 4: Tell us why you're sad.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Well, it's hard to put into words, you know, when you.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Well, I guess the.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Well, I think it's sad any time a relationship fails, Jason.
- 32:14Speaker 4: I agree, Mokey.
- 32:15Speaker 5: I agree.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Because at some point, and they were married for many, many,
- 32:18Speaker 1: many years. Yeah. And so when people finally realise or
- 32:23Speaker 1: make the decision that they don't want to continue on
- 32:25Speaker 1: in the same way that they have, I think there
- 32:27Speaker 1: is a sadness about that. I agree.
- 32:28Speaker 4: I agree. And they were like your kind of radio mentors, really,
- 32:32Speaker 4: weren't they?
- 32:33Speaker 1: Role models.
- 32:34Speaker 4: Role models, yeah. Yeah.
- 32:38Speaker 1: A hundred percent.
- 32:39Speaker 5: And so, you know, that's why I was really sad
- 32:41Speaker 5: when I saw the news.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Yeah. But at the same time, you know, they're really
- 32:44Speaker 1: happy in that.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:45Speaker 5: It says here they've got a dog together and they're
- 32:47Speaker 5: both looking after that.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Which is nice.
- 32:49Speaker 4: What, sharing the dog?
- 32:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. They both look after the dog.
- 32:53Speaker 4: What kind of dog is it?
- 32:54Speaker 1: I don't.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Know.
- 32:58Speaker 1: It doesn't say. I think it's a bit of a mongrel.
- 33:00Speaker 1: I've never seen it. I'm not sure. You know, it
- 33:02Speaker 1: might be a mix of all sorts.
- 33:04Speaker 4: Maybe canine rescue or something like that. Yeah, maybe.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:09Speaker 4: But it's always difficult, you know, because you're saying....
- 33:16Speaker 1: What's up, man? It's okay, man.
- 33:19Speaker 4: No, I was just thinking about, you know, what Mogi was...
- 33:21Speaker 4: It is sad, but also, you know, when you've got
- 33:23Speaker 4: a dog....
- 33:28Speaker 1: When there's a dog caught in the middle, you know,
- 33:30Speaker 1: caught up. Because the thing about a dog... They don't
- 33:34Speaker 1: understand divorce. No, totally. The thing about a dog is
- 33:37Speaker 1: they don't understand marriage.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Yes.
- 33:39Speaker 1: So divorce is completely beyond them. But....
- 33:46Speaker 4: The difficult thing too... Because, you know, often you'll find
- 33:53Speaker 4: that the dog favours one or the other.
- 33:55Speaker 1: That's right.
- 33:55Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 33:56Speaker 1: They end up being a tug of war.
- 33:58Speaker 4: Yeah, tug of.
- 33:58Speaker 1: With the dog.
- 33:59Speaker 4: And that's not good for anyone.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Especially not the dog. Dogs hate that. I don't want
- 34:03Speaker 1: to see the dog getting....
- 34:07Speaker 5: It says here in 2023 they went to Bali together.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Wow.
- 34:12Speaker 1: So that's nice. So that's still, you know.
- 34:14Speaker 4: Who, the dog?
- 34:15Speaker 1: Huh?
- 34:21Speaker 4: Oh, well, that's very sad news, Keezy, and I can
- 34:23Speaker 4: see why you.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Yeah, sorry.
- 34:26Speaker 4: Yeah, no, no, don't be sorry. Don't be sorry.
- 34:28Speaker 1: I think they're both happy with new partners.
- 34:29Speaker 4: Yeah, totally. That's great. Well, that's great news.
- 34:33Speaker 1: It's sad, but it's good. I just feel sorry for
- 34:35Speaker 1: the dog.
- 34:36Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 34:42Speaker 4: Lincoln Park there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 34:46Speaker 4: Wednesday evening. The time is 5.53. Bit of a rough one, fellas.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Of course, there's meant to be a huge gig happening
- 34:52Speaker 1: this evening at Spakarena, I think it was there. Old
- 34:55Speaker 1: Lily Allen. Yes. Now, in your absence, you've been away
- 34:59Speaker 1: a Australia, Jase. Pugs, Keezy was Japan or something like that.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Somewhere not quite as exotic as Australia. I wish it
- 35:07Speaker 1: was Australia. But the whole time, Pugs had been planning
- 35:11Speaker 1: and arranging and surprising his partner because she'd had a birthday,
- 35:15Speaker 1: you see. So he got tickets for her. Very, very special.
- 35:19Speaker 1: A great artist, Lily Allen. And then today, I come
- 35:22Speaker 1: into the office and what do I find? Pugs on
- 35:24Speaker 1: his desk, head in his arms, folded over double there,
- 35:29Speaker 1: bawling his eyes out. And it's because Lily Allen is
- 35:32Speaker 1: cancelled this evening. She's got a bit of a cold.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Mate, I've got to be honest with you. It was
- 35:38Speaker 4: so weird coming to work today because there was Pugs
- 35:44Speaker 4: just weeping into his arms. I was like, oh, I
- 35:46Speaker 4: give him some space.
- 35:47Speaker 5: It's hard to know what you're supposed to do there.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Isn't it?
- 35:49Speaker 4: It is. Keezy was at his desk doing the same thing.
- 35:53Speaker 4: About the whole Dom and.
- 35:55Speaker 1: JJ breaking up.
- 35:56Speaker 4: JJ breaking up. I didn't know that at the time,
- 35:59Speaker 4: of course.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Thanks for giving me space on that one.
- 36:01Speaker 4: And I was just like, what is going on here?
- 36:05Speaker 4: Have Pugs and Keezy had a massive falling out?
- 36:08Speaker 1: Yeah, nah.
- 36:09Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 36:10Speaker 1: It wasn't that.
- 36:10Speaker 5: And I can see you think that. But what it
- 36:11Speaker 5: was was Pugs was gutted about Lily Ellen. And I
- 36:15Speaker 5: was gutted about JJ and Dom.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Yeah. It hits you, man. It's been an emotional day.
- 36:19Speaker 1: It does.
- 36:19Speaker 4: And then Mogi waltzes in with his sharp new hair. G'day, fellas.
- 36:25Speaker 4: Thank God, by the way.
- 36:27Speaker 1: You had to shush me.
- 36:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I was like, easy, fella. The fellas are just
- 36:31Speaker 4: a bit delicate. Read the room, brother.
- 36:32Speaker 5: So what do you do in a situation where you've
- 36:34Speaker 5: bought your partner tickets as a present?
- 36:37Speaker 1: Yeah, especially, yeah. And then the concert's cancelled.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Like, obviously, you've got to now buy more tickets to something. Well,
- 36:44Speaker 1: from the sounds of it, Pugs is copping the blame.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Oh, really?
- 36:47Speaker 1: His missus is for you.
- 36:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Oh, no. Is there anything we can do?
- 36:52Speaker 5: Maybe we could get her tickets to, like, I don't know.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Maybe she should get a new tool. We could trade it.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Trade a tool. Yeah. Trade a tool. Yeah.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Get her a new drop saw or something.
- 37:06Speaker 4: This is actually doubly awkward for me because I was
- 37:08Speaker 4: going to talk to you about something that's quite sensitive
- 37:10Speaker 4: and it involved pugs.
- 37:11Speaker 6: Yes.
- 37:12Speaker 1: We can still do that. Wow. Not now, maybe.
- 37:14Speaker 4: God, not with.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Give it 10 minutes or so.
- 37:17Speaker 4: 10 minutes?
- 37:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 37:18Speaker 4: We'll just do it after six.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:24Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 37:27Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 37:29Speaker 4: Welcome back, you mess of backbones. Hope your Wednesday's going
- 37:33Speaker 4: along very nicely indeed. You're listening to The Big Show
- 37:37Speaker 4: brought to you by Reburger.
- 37:38Speaker 5: Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take
- 37:41Speaker 5: away Reburger today.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Scrumptiously anxious. Yeah, man. What's for dinner tonight, Jase?
- 37:48Speaker 4: I'm going out with my wife tonight, actually.
- 37:50Speaker 1: That's nice.
- 37:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it's nice. We haven't been out for a little while.
- 37:54Speaker 4: It's been a few days.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Where are you going to go?
- 37:57Speaker 4: We're going Japanese today, Keezy.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:00Speaker 4: There's a little joint just down from here, which I noticed,
- 38:02Speaker 4: and I've read the reviews. It looks pretty good.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Oh.
- 38:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Well, let us know how you go.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Yes, I will.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I'm very interested to know. Myself, all this chat about Reburger.
- 38:12Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 38:12Speaker 1: It's got me thinking. So I'm going to give the
- 38:16Speaker 1: missus a buzz there and just find out what the
- 38:18Speaker 1: plan is because it better be re-burger. Yeah, yeah.
- 38:21Speaker 4: No, I'm hearing you.
- 38:22Speaker 1: The trouble is with the re-burger because my daughter is vegetarian. Yes.
- 38:26Speaker 1: All you can get really are chips.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Right.
- 38:29Speaker 1: And then you end up getting a halloumi burger. I
- 38:31Speaker 1: think they do a halloumi burger.
- 38:33Speaker 4: Yes.
- 38:33Speaker 1: A lot of cheese for a child.
- 38:35Speaker 3: Right.
- 38:35Speaker 1: So then we end up doing an egg at home. God,
- 38:37Speaker 1: that's a hassle.
- 38:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:39Speaker 4: They're exhausting cooking eggs. That's why I never have breakfast.
- 38:43Speaker 1: I actually cooked an egg for my wife yesterday. I know.
- 38:46Speaker 5: Why do you bother? We've got a stainless steel pan. Whoa,
- 38:51Speaker 5: rich guy.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Because we're trying to get off the Teflon stuff. Yeah,
- 38:57Speaker 1: it's not good for you, man. Apparently. You'll get the
- 38:59Speaker 1: Alzheimer's there. Apparently, yeah. Yeah. No good. The what? The Alzheimer's.
- 39:05Speaker 5: And so she was like, oh, I'm trying to cook
- 39:06Speaker 5: it in your bloody pan. Can't bloody do it.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:09Speaker 1: To show what it was all about. Yeah, a bit
- 39:11Speaker 1: of a lesson. To show what it's all about. So
- 39:12Speaker 1: here's what you want to do. Yeah, this is how
- 39:14Speaker 1: you do it.
- 39:14Speaker 4: What are you having for dinner, Keezy? And if it
- 39:16Speaker 4: involves pork, I'll be filthy. How was your pork salad?
- 39:21Speaker 5: My wife said she bit into her pork salad last
- 39:23Speaker 5: night and said, and I quote, this is the taste
- 39:26Speaker 5: I've been looking for. Because we've been in Japan eating
- 39:29Speaker 5: a lot of like this. lot of fried food and
- 39:30Speaker 5: a lot of, I don't know, like it's really good.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Yes.
- 39:32Speaker 5: But a lot of noodley soups and all sorts of stuff.
- 39:35Speaker 5: She was craving her pork salad and she loved it.
- 39:37Speaker 1: We need to get into a bit of food chat.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Maybe it's on the podcast, right? But we haven't really
- 39:41Speaker 1: dissected your food experience while you're in Japan.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Yeah, good point. Yeah, good point.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Well, let's do it tomorrow on the show.
- 39:47Speaker 4: Yeah, sounds good, mate.
- 39:48Speaker 5: Because I obviously don't eat seafood in Japan.
- 39:50Speaker 4: No, that's right.
- 39:50Speaker 1: It's all about seafood. Yeah, I want to get to
- 39:52Speaker 1: the bottom of it. Yeah. I want to see it
- 39:54Speaker 1: on the show. I don't know what's for dinner. I've
- 39:55Speaker 1: just asked my wife. I'll let you know. Let me know. Yeah,
- 39:57Speaker 1: good stuff, mate. Okay, I'll get back to you there, fellas.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Should we go to a tune?
- 39:59Speaker 4: Yeah, but a live? Yeah.
- 40:00Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 40:04Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 40:06Speaker 4: Foo Fighters there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 40:10Speaker 4: Wednesday evening. Fellas, and I find myself in a bit
- 40:14Speaker 4: of a conundrum, and I need your help.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Yes.
- 40:17Speaker 4: And if we could just treat this particular topic with
- 40:21Speaker 4: a certain amount of delicacy.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Sewer.
- 40:24Speaker 4: Maybe just keep it amongst ourselves.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Sewer.
- 40:27Speaker 4: Now, someone very dear to us, someone that we're very
- 40:32Speaker 4: fond of, was recently looking after my apartment while I,
- 40:36Speaker 4: I don't know if you guys know this, but I
- 40:38Speaker 4: went to Australia.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 40:40Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, for like a big road.
- 40:41Speaker 1: The Australia.
- 40:42Speaker 4: The Australia, yeah.
- 40:43Speaker 1: I've always wanted to go there.
- 40:44Speaker 4: Drove down from Sydney to Melbourne there, Mogi.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Wow.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Along the coastline.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Man.
- 40:48Speaker 4: It's really, it's good stuff.
- 40:50Speaker 1: It's far.
- 40:51Speaker 4: And so I asked this very dear friend of mine,
- 40:54Speaker 4: To look after the place. And he did, as always.
- 40:56Speaker 4: And my cat loves him.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Who, Jizz?
- 40:59Speaker 4: Yeah, Jizz loves him. Absolutely loves him.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Well, can I say this? This friend of yours, I
- 41:04Speaker 1: know for a fact, loves Jizz.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Yes, I know.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Jizz.
- 41:11Speaker 4: And yesterday, then we got back and we noticed this
- 41:15Speaker 4: massive bottle of olive oil. And I was like, oh,
- 41:17Speaker 4: I wonder whose that is. Turns out it was our friend's.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Oh, yes.
- 41:20Speaker 4: And he said, oh, can you bring it back? So
- 41:22Speaker 4: I had to. Grab a big bottle of olive oil
- 41:25Speaker 4: and cart that up the bloody road.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Pistachio.
- 41:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:28Speaker 1: It was huge, by the way.
- 41:30Speaker 4: It was a huge bottle.
- 41:31Speaker 1: You had on like a wheelbarrow when you walked in.
- 41:32Speaker 1: It was baby oil, I thought.
- 41:35Speaker 4: No, no, because here's the thing. And so we were
- 41:38Speaker 4: putting our suitcases back and we were putting them under
- 41:41Speaker 4: the bed there.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Oh, that's where I put mine.
- 41:43Speaker 4: Yeah. And I was like, hang about.
- 41:46Speaker 6: Oh, God.
- 41:47Speaker 4: What the hell is?
- 41:49Speaker 1: Oh, is this?
- 41:49Speaker 4: Oh, no. What the hell is this?
- 41:51Speaker 5: Hmm.
- 41:52Speaker 4: And it was just a bag, and I don't want
- 41:54Speaker 4: to get into details about what was in the bag.
- 41:57Speaker 4: Can I say costumes?
- 42:02Speaker 1: Ah, boudoir costumes.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Well, like jodhpurs, riding boots.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:10Speaker 4: It was on some sort of mask.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Can I ask, cat o' nine tails?
- 42:16Speaker 4: Yes.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Like a whip.
- 42:19Speaker 4: And we were like, and I said to my wife,
- 42:21Speaker 4: what the? what the hell is this? There was other
- 42:25Speaker 4: stuff in there that I won't get into. Right.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Did you get into that stuff?
- 42:30Speaker 4: Oh, you know, it was quite fascinating, to be honest.
- 42:33Speaker 4: It was a glimpse into another world, if you will.
- 42:36Speaker 4: But here's my conundrum. Now, this very dear friend of
- 42:39Speaker 4: mine who was looking after our apartment hasn't mentioned that
- 42:43Speaker 4: he's left anything behind. And so I'm in the situation
- 42:47Speaker 4: where do I go, oh, listen, I think– You may
- 42:51Speaker 4: have left some stuff behind at our place and then
- 42:56Speaker 4: have to come back and give it to him knowing
- 42:59Speaker 4: he will know that I've seen what's in the bag.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Well, this is extremely interesting because while you were away,
- 43:08Speaker 1: this friend of yours was also house-sitting for somebody else,
- 43:10Speaker 1: another member of your family. And this friend ran into
- 43:14Speaker 1: a conundrum, and that was that while they were staying
- 43:17Speaker 1: and then they left, he and his partner left a bag.
- 43:21Speaker 1: At the house. Now, inside the bag was a computer
- 43:25Speaker 1: charger and also a personal item, which the two of them,
- 43:29Speaker 1: your friend and his partner, would share. This is without
- 43:32Speaker 1: a word of a lie. So he had to find
- 43:34Speaker 1: a way to get back into the property to then
- 43:38Speaker 1: be able to recover this, what I will only refer
- 43:40Speaker 1: to as a sexual item. So this is not a
- 43:43Speaker 1: first time, Jase. I'm not shocked to hear it. This
- 43:45Speaker 1: is a fact.
- 43:46Speaker 4: Wow.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Wait. What?
- 43:48Speaker 5: So Pugs is just leaving dilly bags everywhere.
- 43:51Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 43:54Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 43:57Speaker 4: Rage against the machine there on the Hauraki Big Show
- 44:00Speaker 4: this Wednesday evening. But right now it's time for... The
- 44:03Speaker 4: Big Poll.
- 44:08Speaker 1: That's right. Yesterday we did a big poll, which was
- 44:13Speaker 1: washing your hands after going to the toilet. Yes or no,
- 44:15Speaker 1: this after a study came out. It was in Australia
- 44:18Speaker 1: that said 82% of men and 71% of women don't
- 44:23Speaker 1: wash their hands after doing number ones. And similar sort
- 44:26Speaker 1: of crime, similar terrible statistics around number twos as well.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:31Speaker 1: So we asked, you know, what are people's habits? Well,
- 44:34Speaker 1: hang on. It wasn't 80% of men, was it, that
- 44:36Speaker 1: don't wash their hands? It was 100% of Keezies. Well, no,
- 44:38Speaker 1: it's not true. I thought it was 80% of men
- 44:41Speaker 1: did wash their hands, but 20% didn't. Oh, no, I
- 44:42Speaker 1: don't know. It was worse than that. It was Australians,
- 44:45Speaker 1: not New Zealanders. Oh, so it was the conversion rate.
- 44:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:48Speaker 1: The conversion rate.
- 44:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:50Speaker 5: But we put the big poll up on the Hodaki
- 44:52Speaker 5: Big Show Instagram story and people were voting.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Yes. I like to think they were being honest.
- 44:56Speaker 4: Well, this was the big question we had, wasn't it?
- 44:58Speaker 4: Because Mogi was like, I've got a real gut instinct
- 45:01Speaker 4: that people are going to lie about this.
- 45:02Speaker 3: Yes.
- 45:03Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 45:04Speaker 1: Even though it's anonymous. Absolutely. You just vote. Yeah.
- 45:07Speaker 5: So the question we put up was, do you wash
- 45:08Speaker 5: your hands after using the toilet?
- 45:10Speaker 1: Do you want to have a guess as to where
- 45:12Speaker 1: we landed? It's a tricky one. I didn't see it.
- 45:15Speaker 4: Did we break it into men or women?
- 45:18Speaker 3: No.
- 45:19Speaker 4: Okay, just generic.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Just yes or no.
- 45:21Speaker 4: Okay, yes or no.
- 45:23Speaker 1: I reckon 70% said yes, they do.
- 45:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I would say about that too. Maybe 80% even
- 45:29Speaker 4: said yes, I'm clean.
- 45:32Speaker 1: 74% said yeah, they wash their hands. 26% admitted to
- 45:35Speaker 1: not washing their hands. Look.
- 45:39Speaker 5: But the thing is, right, it depends what you're doing.
- 45:40Speaker 5: Because we had a few texts through being like, one
- 45:42Speaker 5: was like, I'm a farmer.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:44Speaker 5: Pulling teats and getting covered in cow dung every single day.
- 45:46Speaker 5: So I don't care about washing my hands after going
- 45:48Speaker 5: to the toilet. But it's more like once you're back
- 45:50Speaker 5: in a public space.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean?
- 45:53Speaker 4: Yes.
- 45:54Speaker 1: But 25, like one in four people.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Touch that door handle over there I touch. Yeah. After
- 45:59Speaker 1: handling the downstairs without washing. I mean, when I come
- 46:02Speaker 1: out of the bathroom here, I go, you know, spray, spray.
- 46:07Speaker 1: What do you mean? I'm urinating now, so just picture
- 46:09Speaker 1: me at the urinal just going to town, right? And
- 46:12Speaker 1: then I finish, and I put myself there, and then
- 46:14Speaker 1: I go and wash my hands.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Right.
- 46:16Speaker 1: And then when I dry my hands, I grab it.
- 46:18Speaker 1: We've got the hand towel system here, Jase. You'll know that.
- 46:21Speaker 4: Yes, yes.
- 46:21Speaker 1: I grab the hand towels. I dry my hands. I
- 46:23Speaker 1: take the hand towels with me. I use the hand
- 46:25Speaker 1: towels to open the bathroom door because I don't want
- 46:28Speaker 1: to wash my hands and then get all the filth
- 46:31Speaker 1: from the mongrels who don't want to wash their hands
- 46:33Speaker 1: off the door handle. And then I come into the
- 46:35Speaker 1: office here and then I chuck those paper towels into
- 46:36Speaker 1: the bin. Yeah, right. That's how I do it.
- 46:38Speaker 5: See, I just wash my hands and then use the door,
- 46:40Speaker 5: but I grab like a higher part of the door.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Yeah, everybody does that. Yeah, really? Yeah, everybody.
- 46:45Speaker 4: Well, I naturally grab the lower part of the door.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 46:49Speaker 4: Okay.
- 46:49Speaker 1: Do you wash your hands? God, no.
- 46:51Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 46:54Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 47:03Speaker 4: Well, there you go, you mad bastards. We've done a
- 47:07Speaker 4: Duxted for you Wednesday. I don't even know what a
- 47:09Speaker 4: show it's been. We've been all over the place, and God,
- 47:11Speaker 4: it's been great fun. Now, and the disclaimer, which is
- 47:13Speaker 4: a bonus podcast we do before every show.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Yes.
- 47:17Speaker 4: What's the clip today, Keezy?
- 47:19Speaker 5: Today's clip, Jase, and it comes out at 7.30, the
- 47:21Speaker 5: full potty. It's about dodgy neighbourhoods. Search Hoducky Big Show,
- 47:25Speaker 5: wherever you get your podcasts from.
- 47:27Speaker 1: You know what it's like around Keezy's joint. It's pretty rough.
- 47:32Speaker 5: I went out to get the mail, right? And I
- 47:33Speaker 5: looked down a long driveway. A long driveway.
- 47:36Speaker 4: There's a lot of houses on that driveway.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Well, there's three.
- 47:43Speaker 5: I want to go see your shit hole that you
- 47:45Speaker 5: lived in in West Auckland because I bet it's worse
- 47:47Speaker 5: than mine.
- 47:49Speaker 4: I think you would love my house.
- 47:51Speaker 1: I probably would, man.
- 47:52Speaker 4: Genuinely, you would love my house.
- 47:53Speaker 1: I certainly wouldn't be rude about it on the podcast.
- 47:56Speaker 1: So that comes out at 7.30 tonight. That was some
- 47:58Speaker 1: good stuff. Yeah, great stuff.
- 48:00Speaker 4: Hey.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Jase, you've been to my house. It's not that bad.
- 48:03Speaker 1: It's pretty nice. It's great, mate.
- 48:04Speaker 4: It's a great house.
- 48:05Speaker 1: Hey, we've got, just out of the blue here, we've
- 48:07Speaker 1: got the final round of Come Dime with the Fjellers
- 48:10Speaker 1: coming up.
- 48:11Speaker 4: Yes.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Yes, my wife asked me about that last night. A
- 48:13Speaker 1: couple of weeks, a couple of weeks away. Maybe we
- 48:15Speaker 1: should chat to Pugs about that tomorrow. Yeah, yeah. He's hosting.
- 48:18Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, great stuff. Looking forward to it. Mogi, your
- 48:21Speaker 4: plans for the evening, please.
- 48:23Speaker 1: I'm waiting to hear back from my wife about what
- 48:25Speaker 1: we'll potentially be doing for dinner.
- 48:27Speaker 4: Yes.
- 48:28Speaker 1: And I've got to get into, we've been getting bogged
- 48:32Speaker 1: down in other things, Jason, so we've got to get
- 48:34Speaker 1: into this bloody East of Eden. I've got to get
- 48:35Speaker 1: it done.
- 48:36Speaker 6: Yes.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Before I lose my enthusiasm for it.
- 48:38Speaker 4: It's great stuff, mate. It's great stuff.
- 48:41Speaker 6: Yes.
- 48:42Speaker 1: Keezy, what about you, man? Any plans this evening, or
- 48:44Speaker 1: what do you think?
- 48:46Speaker 5: I'm going to go home. We're having Thai green curry.
- 48:48Speaker 5: My wife just texted.
- 48:50Speaker 4: I prefer red.
- 48:51Speaker 1: That's what I had today. My leftovers was a Thai green.
- 48:54Speaker 1: The creamier of the soups, Keezy. The creamier. Yeah, I
- 48:57Speaker 1: like more curry stock in mine than she does.
- 49:01Speaker 3: Right.
- 49:02Speaker 5: So she'll make hers and serve it, and then I'll
- 49:03Speaker 5: get a big old tablespoon of stock. Put it into
- 49:06Speaker 5: the curry mixture and then stir that around because it
- 49:08Speaker 5: needs to be strong and spicy.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:11Speaker 4: Is it chicken or beef or what?
- 49:12Speaker 1: Chicken thigh.
- 49:13Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 49:14Speaker 5: A little mini corns and mushroom and beans. And we
- 49:18Speaker 5: also have a roti.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Mung beans? A nice roti. Mung beans.
- 49:23Speaker 3: Yeah, good.
- 49:24Speaker 4: Good stuff.
- 49:25Speaker 1: What about you, Jase?
- 49:27Speaker 4: As I said.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Wasn't that your nickname?
- 49:30Speaker 4: Mung bean? Top of the hour there. I'm about to
- 49:33Speaker 4: go and meet my wife for dinner.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Oh, you've been banging on about that.
- 49:36Speaker 4: Just have a bit of a chitty chat. And the
- 49:38Speaker 4: good news is I'm really hungry.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Oh, that is good news. Oh, that's great news.
- 49:43Speaker 4: I cannot wait to hoe in.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I can tell you're hungry because you keep looking out
- 49:46Speaker 1: the window and salivating.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm a very hungry man. But listen, go and
- 49:50Speaker 4: check out the podcast. Go and check out the Instagram. Look,
- 49:52Speaker 4: he's wrapping it up quick tonight.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Put this one up for the old radio awards, would you, man?
- 49:57Speaker 4: We'll see you later.
- 49:57Speaker 3: Goodbye.
- 49:58Speaker 6: Bye.
- 49:58Speaker 1: See you later.
- 49:59Speaker 5: See you later.
