- 1:17Namaste, greetings to you all in the name of the Lord Jesus
- 1:20Christ. I am Manisha Gudi from India,
- 1:24Mumbai, I would like to share a devotional reflection on
- 1:28intergenerational discipleship, how we as an NYI are discipling
- 1:33the next generation of leaders and how young people are shaping
- 1:38the future of the church and how God is also forming us to the
- 1:42community of discipleship within the church.
- 1:46Let us to click together with open hearts.
- 1:50Intergenerational discipleship. It's God design from the
- 1:53beginning where faith was never meant to be lived alone or kept
- 1:58within one generation. Psalms 145 verse 4 says one
- 2:04generation will command your works to another and they will
- 2:08tell of your mighty acts. This verse reminders that faith
- 2:13grows when it is shared, and the church became strong when the
- 2:18generation walked together in listening, learning, and serving
- 2:22side by side. One of the most beautiful
- 2:26example of intergenerational discipleship in the Bible is the
- 2:30relationship between Moses and Joshua.
- 2:34Joshua did not begin as a leader, he began as a servant
- 2:38walking closely with Moses. Exodus chapter 33, verse 11.
- 2:44The Lord will speak to Moses face to face, but his young
- 2:49aide, Joshua, the son of Rome, did not leave the tent.
- 2:54Joshua learned by staying in God presses.
- 2:57He watched Moses pray, lead, struggle, and obey.
- 3:02And Moses allowed Joshua to be near, not just to observe
- 3:06leadership, but to be shaped by God.
- 3:10Overtime, Moses thirsted Joshua with the responsibility, leading
- 3:15battles, accompanying him on the mountain, and learning to depend
- 3:19on God. And when the time came, Moses
- 3:22blessed Joshua and encourage him to do not me, chapter 31, verse
- 3:28seven and eight, to be strong and be courageous.
- 3:32The Lord himself goes before you.
- 3:35Wow. This is discipleship, walking
- 3:39together until the next generation is ready to lead.
- 3:44In many ways, this same story continued today through NYI.
- 3:49NYI creates space where young people are not just to be
- 3:53taught, but walked with leaders in waste time, prayer, and trust
- 3:58into young people, helping them to discover their callings and
- 4:02gift. Through NYI, young people
- 4:06learned that leadership begin with character, humility, and
- 4:11obedience to God, and we are encouraged to serve faithfully
- 4:15even in a small thing, knowing that God is shaping us for His
- 4:19purpose. One Timothian chapter 412 Don't
- 4:25let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set
- 4:29an example. In my own journey to Nexus, I
- 4:34have experienced this into a generational discipleship.
- 4:37Personally, I have been discipled by leaders who
- 4:42listened to me, prayed with me, corrected me gently, and
- 4:46encouraged me to grow. They did not trust the process.
- 4:50They trusted God's timing and through Nexus gatherings and
- 4:55mentoring relationship, God has been shaping not just my skills
- 5:00but my heart, teaching me to be patience, obedience, and
- 5:07dependent on Him. As Proverbs chapter 27 verse 17,
- 5:13as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
- 5:18God uses community to farmers, and we are shaped to
- 5:22conversations, prayer, service, and shared faith.
- 5:27Intergenerational disciples. They remind us that we are never
- 5:30finished growing. Older leaders guide us, young
- 5:35people bring fresh faith and vision, and together we become
- 5:39the body of Christ. When generation walks together,
- 5:44the church grows not only in numbers but in the depth, unity
- 5:50and love. As we reflect today, may we ask
- 5:55ourself who has got placed in my life to disciple me and who is
- 6:01God calling me to walk with and encourage?
- 6:05Let us pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
- 6:10the gift of community and discipleship.
- 6:13Thank you for the leaders who walk with us and the young
- 6:17people You are rising among us, from us to your Spirit.
- 6:22Teach us to walk humbly together and help us pass our faith
- 6:27faithfully to your next generation.
- 6:30May your church continue to grow in love, unity and obedience to
- 6:35you in Jesus name, Amen. Thank you for listening to the
