- 0:32We are joined by Matt of fell ball productions here tonight on
- 0:37the program. and, He'll be, he's a YouTube Creator and he hosts a
- 0:44couple podcast on YouTube. So I've left his channel Linked
- 0:52In the description below and without further Ado, Matt thank
- 0:57you for joining us. Yeah, thanks a lot for having me
- 1:00man. This is sounds pleasure to be
- 1:02here. So first of all man how did you
- 1:08like this? How did it start?
- 1:11In content creation. Just tell us a little bit about
- 1:14your background. You have a fairly interesting
- 1:16background. So yeah.
- 1:19So my background I was living in Los Angeles.
- 1:23I've been there. I was there for about 10 years.
- 1:24I was an actor. I spent a lot of time trying to
- 1:28make that career work for what that was worth.
- 1:30It was it was an uphill, struggle, most of the time, you
- 1:34know, you get a break here and there, but for the most part,
- 1:36it's just kind of a lot of grinding, a lot of time and
- 1:38acting classes and begging for people.
- 1:41In the industry to notice you and they rarely do so it was it
- 1:47was a fair bit of work and I after time I grew pretty
- 1:52disillusioned with it. Purse like from my own personal
- 1:56perspective of just kind of it not working out how I wanted it
- 1:59to work out. But another angle was really
- 2:02there was something there that I was seeking that I never got and
- 2:05that was like camaraderie I kind of always imagined that when I
- 2:10would pursue this thing I would find other like-minded people
- 2:13and that was going to be, you know, I would find like my tribe
- 2:18as that's what they always say and Ila tribe.
- 2:20But then that turns out that's cultural appropriation.
- 2:22So you can't do that but but I never did and that was really
- 2:28difficult. And then you combine that with
- 2:33the kind of tornado of Of identity politics that kind of
- 2:40covers everything in the entertainment industry.
- 2:43It just became like an unpleasant place to be, but I
- 2:47hadn't given up hope I was still sticking around and what ended
- 2:51up drawing me into YouTube was the collapse of Game of Thrones.
- 2:58Yes, you know, I've always been like a podcast fan, you know,
- 3:02Rogan Opie and Anthony Barbour any of these comedians.
- 3:06I'm a big, you know, Avid consumer of that type of stuff,
- 3:10but I didn't know about what was going on on YouTube, until I
- 3:13found till Game of Thrones destroyed cratered.
- 3:17And I'm like, there has to be someone out there who gets this,
- 3:21who sees what I'm seeing there has to be.
- 3:22I cannot just sit here alone in my apartment, like watching my
- 3:26favorite thing, completely. Laps and the first person I
- 3:29found was a critical Drinker funny enough.
- 3:32That's how I found you really kind of in the roundabout way.
- 3:38So during the lockdown I am of 2020.
- 3:44I went on this YouTube engine. I can't remember exactly how I
- 3:51want down this rabbit hole but eventually I found the critical
- 3:55Drinker and I watched one Of his reviews I think was like his
- 4:00large breakdown on, like how how he would fix the Last Jedi or
- 4:06yes, something good video. I remember that one or something
- 4:09like that and then I found Gary from nerd Roddick.
- 4:13And you know, I had no idea who it was, but I watched a few of
- 4:18his videos found out that he did live streaming and then so I
- 4:23started turning into a few of his live streams discovered
- 4:27Friday night Tides, I joined their discords server, and I was
- 4:33just kind of hanging in there and are okay.
- 4:35Who's one of the mods and their dropped owing to your channel.
- 4:40And kind of, I guess you would call what people would say they
- 4:45Friday night tights after show ya.
- 4:48What what can we say that? So I just was dropped in there
- 4:53around Christmas time. Last year, and I like a lot of
- 4:58what you're doing. And so I just figured I would
- 5:01have you on since, you know, we're both kind of the smaller
- 5:05channels in that community, so to speak.
- 5:07Sure. Yeah.
- 5:08Well, it's a, I really appreciate you having me on.
- 5:12And it is, I found that the nerd Roddick Community is a great,
- 5:17like, Hive of new content creators.
- 5:20I mean, that's, that's pretty much where I found everyone
- 5:24who's come. On the Friday.
- 5:26After the after-show? You know, mf4 cocktail lounge on
- 5:29Friday nights at 8:30 Central. That's pretty much where I found
- 5:33everybody there. I mean vigilante Williamson,
- 5:36who's my basically my podcast partner, we have a Wednesday
- 5:40show called the culture crime fighter's, we do it, we switch
- 5:43channels. Go on my channel one week, his
- 5:45channel, the next we also put it out as a podcast, I'm like,
- 5:48iTunes Spotify, all that, but I met him on a Gary like members
- 5:54stream Yeah, cross paths with him.
- 5:56Yeah, and I mean I've, I've been on a member of stream a few
- 6:00times as well, I think you, and I kind of chatted about that.
- 6:05It's funny, because I've been doing podcasting for probably 15
- 6:12years. Now, I started when I was, wow,
- 6:15I started when I was about 14 and didn't really get anywhere
- 6:19for like, the first five years and then, I was a big fan of
- 6:24Andrew Breitbart who you know was pretty famous and kind of
- 6:29the conservative ish circles. And around that time, I also
- 6:32started listening to Dennis Miller's radar show and then
- 6:36pretty much after I Pretty much a year.
- 6:40And to me listening to Dennis Miller was when Andrew Breitbart
- 6:44died and just kind of Unaware, my I started emailing people at
- 6:51Breitbart who he worked with, and one of those people was Ben
- 6:55Shapiro and this was before Ben Shapiro was Ben Shapiro as we
- 7:02know him. So that was kind of my first, I
- 7:08guess Big Boost and then I just kind of focused on politics
- 7:14really up until 2016 1 kind of the culture war and Politics
- 7:19really kind of seem to cross fade and then during like after
- 7:24the 2020 election, I just kind of got bored with politics
- 7:28strictly. So I've been diving more into
- 7:29the culture stuff and I've always I've always known that
- 7:33like the culture war was important.
- 7:34I just didn't really know kind of where the space where my
- 7:38place in the space was. So I just like to talk to her
- 7:41two different people in that space, more or less.
- 7:44And the funny thing I find out like Gary is that like a lot of
- 7:49people label him as like right wing or something like that?
- 7:52But he's not. And I think it's really I think
- 7:57it's really hard to kind of pin people down these days because
- 8:00if you're not politically correct, You're automatically
- 8:03labeled as right-wing, you know, even if you're not.
- 8:07So yeah, that's a great Point, man.
- 8:10It really is hard to pin people down nowadays.
- 8:12Because what does any of that mean anymore?
- 8:15You know, what is, what is being on the right mean today, you
- 8:18know, like who, and who's the one defining it?
- 8:21You know, is it are you a card-carrying Republican?
- 8:24Like, I would say I'm not, but I'm very willing to embrace some
- 8:29of the ideals that come from the right that I think, you know, No
- 8:32are interesting or necessary right now and the same thing
- 8:36goes for the left. You know, I've been listening to
- 8:39a lot of James Lindsay recently. I don't know if you're familiar
- 8:43with him, but he's a, he's a frequent a Rogan guest and he's
- 8:47written a few books. I think he's a former office of
- 8:51college professor, but he has a very academic background.
- 8:54He actually became famous for publishing for submitting
- 8:57papers. These grievance studies to these
- 9:00papers to feminist. There's like I'm sorry feminist
- 9:04Collegiate magazines, but basically what he did was he
- 9:08took passages from mine Kampf and replaced Jews with men, and
- 9:15then that was like exactly what they wanted to hear.
- 9:17So it was the time of thing that, you know, kind of made him
- 9:20a viral sensation, like Jordan Peterson, or Brett Weinstein.
- 9:24And I've been listening to a lot of his books and he is what
- 9:28you'd consider a classical liberal.
- 9:31But he fights. Did you see Luke?
- 9:33Yeah my cat just popped up there.
- 9:35Hey buddy Juke he's a we love. We love cats and dogs on the
- 9:41show. So right on perfect so but he so
- 9:45James Lindsay is what you consider a classical liberal but
- 9:50the people who are what you'd call the left now would would
- 9:53absolutely not count him on their side.
- 9:57So it is a very amorphous thing now.
- 9:59It's, how do you define Mine where people are?
- 10:03I think to me I find it less and less important to like identify
- 10:08that. I don't really care.
- 10:09I just kind of care more about your character and your
- 10:11principles. So if I may ask you so I guess
- 10:18where do you kind of a wine on on the Spectrum and is that one
- 10:22of the reasons why you didn't really feel successful in
- 10:26Hollywood? Well I'm I'm Idli, Auntie
- 10:31critical theory so anything that kind of falls under the anti
- 10:35critical theory umbrella. Sure.
- 10:38I almost immediately have a problem with it.
- 10:40Now the thing is a lot of what they believe and my opinion does
- 10:44have some validity to it. It's just really cynically
- 10:48misinterpreted or negatively portrayed or, you know,
- 10:52cherry-picked to look, you know, in a certain what light.
- 10:55So I I don't know. I mean, I have, I, I try to
- 11:00respect everyone's point of view, you know, there's like hot
- 11:04button issues that I kinda understand both sides.
- 11:07Yeah. I guess it comes down to more
- 11:09like, we're my principles aligned.
- 11:12I'm sure there's people out there that would consider be
- 11:14conservative, I guess, I don't but I don't care.
- 11:19Like, it's like if that's what you want to count, call me, call
- 11:21me, I don't care, whatever it is.
- 11:22You want to describe me as as fine.
- 11:26But yeah, I don't know. No, if I don't have like a
- 11:28mentality of where I see myself as far as on the Spectrum, but
- 11:32I'm open to like lots of different ideas.
- 11:35Well, I mean, I think that's kind of where, you know, I am
- 11:40and I think where a lot of people are.
- 11:41I mean, I'm registered Republican and I, you know, I
- 11:46hold a lot of views that I guess now would be considered
- 11:50conservative, but like as far as like social issues like gay
- 11:53marriage and what not like I don't, you know, I don't really
- 11:57care, you know what you do you know and your private life.
- 12:02As long as you're not harming anyone and as long as you know,
- 12:06everyone is consenting and you know, over age and you know, I'm
- 12:10age and whatnot. But you know, as far as like
- 12:12this whole like You know thing of like a morality placing that
- 12:17the right you know used to do I'm against that and now it
- 12:20seems that the far left is doing that and there seems to be out.
- 12:25It's weird because the two extremes almost seem to be More
- 12:32or less the same in a sense just for different reasons you know
- 12:37but are each other the left wants reparations for raise them
- 12:42system in the past and it's unreasonable on there and the
- 12:46whole, you know, critical theory, as you put it and then
- 12:50you have the far alright people who also earned a critical
- 12:54theory, but they think that, you know, the white race needs
- 12:58reparations for things and it's just really weird.
- 13:02How we got to this point. There's a great sketch by the
- 13:07comedian. Ryan long.
- 13:08Do you know who he is? Oh, yeah.
- 13:10I know. I know Ryan long is.
- 13:11He's got that woke and racism and how they both agree and like
- 13:15their friends, but they have like the same ideas but they're
- 13:18just kind of like just a little twisted.
- 13:20Like I just like the alt it's so good.
- 13:22It's like sums up exactly what you're just pointing out.
- 13:25It's like it really is just the same.
- 13:28It's the extension of it. I mean, I read that book by
- 13:31John. James Lindsay called cynical
- 13:33theories and if you, and once I began to understand like their
- 13:38philosophy, like, where they're coming from, they really are
- 13:42racists. I mean, there they basically say
- 13:45this group of people does this this group of people does that,
- 13:49and this is the experience of this person, and this is the
- 13:52experience of that person, and they separate them very
- 13:54decisively into groups. So, I don't know what.
- 13:58Well, you could call that other than racism.
- 14:00I mean, you're not, you're leaving.
- 14:01For absolutely no, individuality amongst identity groups.
- 14:05So what that's racism, I don't know what else I can be.
- 14:09You're you're absolutely right. And you know, I think now the
- 14:13other thing we have to do with is you know, cancel culture and
- 14:17you know, which really I don't think it's anything really new,
- 14:21it's just because the internet, there's more of a spotlight on
- 14:24it but like one of the things that I know you were talking
- 14:27about yesterday on, you know, your stream was the whole thing
- 14:31with Joe Rogan and I am at a chance to talk at it because I
- 14:35only do one or two shows per week.
- 14:39You know, this is that but as far as the Rogan thing I'm kind
- 14:43of curious to know what you think about all of that kind of
- 14:48take, you know, it's an it's an interesting thing because
- 14:51there's a pretty big development today that I didn't I haven't
- 14:54looked into because I honestly just didn't want to, but
- 14:57apparently someone did like a Supercut of things that Joe
- 15:01Rogan has said that make him appear very racist.
- 15:06He's not, I I would confidently say Say, all I've listened to
- 15:10hundreds of hours of Rogue and I have no belief, he's a racist
- 15:13but they make it look like that and Rogan actually apologized
- 15:18for what he said. I think he tried to
- 15:20contextualize it and sort of explain where he was coming from
- 15:23but also he apologized and yesterday.
- 15:29I was with which personally? No, sorry to interrupt
- 15:31personally no nothing ever. I don't I don't think
- 15:34apologizing for the mob as ever good especially When you're a
- 15:40comedian completely agree with you, I think that that's, it's
- 15:44usually a misstep because all it kind of does is just give them a
- 15:46little bit more power, and that's more what they're after
- 15:49than anything. They don't really care about the
- 15:51plight of black people. It's just more about control.
- 15:54So hidden doing that and then yesterday, 70 or so, episodes of
- 16:01Joe Rogan Experience just disappeared from Spotify with no
- 16:05explanation. Yeah, it's I don't look too much
- 16:10into that, but like enough people have enough people have
- 16:14said that the I'm kind of like, I'm just kind of like wow that's
- 16:20total surprise. A good part of the reason why
- 16:23it's surprising is I've actually so a few years ago, I actually,
- 16:34one of the mob, one of the left-wing Twitter mobs actually
- 16:39tried to kind of cancel my podcast and get it removed from
- 16:44how congratulations you made it Spotify.
- 16:47Yeah. So they tried to get me.
- 16:49It was like a weird mix of like lefties and then.
- 16:52All right people that were like trying to get This thing, he's
- 16:56not racist enough, right? Well, it likes to many people.
- 17:00It was basically, like, I criticized, one of their, you
- 17:04know, one of their favorite personalities and so they, you
- 17:08know, me and a few other friends.
- 17:10It's kind of a long story, but long story short, they just
- 17:13starting to, like, spamming iTunes and whatnot with bad
- 17:17reviews and then tried really looking to Spotify.
- 17:20And I actually got an email from Spotify saying, hey, we think,
- 17:25Someone is just trying to like massively.
- 17:30You know, like, believe that way bad reviews.
- 17:33I don't know. The, I don't know if the
- 17:34technical term for that, but they were basically like review
- 17:37bombing. Yeah, review bombing.
- 17:39Yeah, that, yeah, that's the time I'm using.
- 17:41So they said, you know, we're going to lock this down for a
- 17:45bit and, you know, wait until the wings kind of settle out.
- 17:49There's not there's not anything Roy controversial, huh?
- 17:57I don't understand what you just sort of disappeared off his own.
- 18:08Right. Oh yeah.
- 18:09Apparently we just we just lost connection.
- 18:13Oh, are we on? Yeah, we're on again.
- 18:16It just refreshed. It looked like, okay, cool.
- 18:21Hopefully, the people in the chat can kind of confirm that I
- 18:24have no idea what happened. But anyway, as I was saying, You
- 18:32know, basically this mob review balmy and Spotify, you know,
- 18:36more or less kept me kept me on and I'm, you know, I'm a nobody,
- 18:40I only have 700 and something subscribers on YouTube and, you
- 18:45know, I get more views on. I get more lessons on the audio
- 18:47podcast but still, you know, I'm a relative nobody, so the fact
- 18:52that they were willing to keep me on was great.
- 18:56So, I've always kind of vouched for Spotify in that sense, you
- 19:01know. Spotify and anchor, but now with
- 19:05this, I'm kind of wondering, you know, now with them getting so
- 19:09much publicity. I mean that was five years ago
- 19:12when that happened and now I'm wondering, are they going to
- 19:16start clamping down on more and more people.
- 19:19Now that they've got so much more attention.
- 19:23I think this Rogan stories bigger than it seems, I think
- 19:26it's more than just like a one-day story.
- 19:29Like this story has now been going for Like a week or so.
- 19:33And I think it started just kind of being like, oh, this is like
- 19:35something that happened, he addressed the covid
- 19:39misinformation or whatever, you know, he didn't he didn't back
- 19:42down, but he, you know, addressed it.
- 19:44We talked about that on Wednesday.
- 19:46Me and vigilante did, and then, and now yesterday's story with
- 19:50the 74 episodes and out today, this to me, feels like
- 19:55coordinated. It feels like, there's like
- 19:57people trying to cancel, Indie platformer him and it's, it's
- 20:01The amount of people who are growing in, oddly enough and
- 20:05supportive, Neil Young is actually getting bigger.
- 20:08And I think if I'm not mistaken, Michelle and Barack Obama
- 20:13decided, they don't want to be on Spotify or something like
- 20:16that. When the former president,
- 20:18whatever you think of them set like makes an action like that.
- 20:22I don't know what like Spotify that's that's a tough.
- 20:25Very tough spot for them to be in and it's a lot of money on
- 20:29the line. So I think think we're going to
- 20:32see that. I think this story's going to
- 20:33continue to develop and I don't know where it's gonna go.
- 20:35Yeah well I I heard something about that but up until you
- 20:40Steppin II had no idea if that if that was actually true or
- 20:43not. The funny thing of it is though
- 20:46is even though even though Obama has a podcast and even though he
- 20:50has, even though he's the former president of the United States,
- 20:53like nobody listens to his podcast cast, as far as I can
- 20:58tell, I'm not and I'm not even saying as a dig.
- 21:00I'm just saying, Like nobody, you know, maybe other than
- 21:07hardcore Obama fans. Yeah.
- 21:10Who is the audience for that? I mean, he's not going to say
- 21:13anything radical enough to satisfy their base.
- 21:17Even if he his actions in the past, may have reflected that
- 21:20he's not going to he's not going to give them a sound bite that
- 21:23can use against him, right? Yeah.
- 21:26And so and then I just a normal person like he's not going to be
- 21:30vulnerable enough to be a good podcast host to where you'd want
- 21:33to listen to. So I honestly I have no idea who
- 21:36the audience for that is I and he understands and he is like he
- 21:41is co-hosting with Bruce Springsteen and I mean I listen
- 21:44to an episode and it's not bad but it's like they talked about
- 21:48like They talk, like, when they grew up, like in their, you
- 21:52know, in their respective like hometowns, like it is a very,
- 21:55you know, it's like it's very milquetoast, like, it's not, you
- 22:00know, hey, if you want to do a milquetoast podcast, that, you
- 22:04know, fine, but you know, like he's not really moving the
- 22:08needle. You're not, he's not moving the
- 22:10needle, he, you know, he's not doing anything.
- 22:13So the fact that you want that, he's like threatening to leave.
- 22:16Like, if I were Spotify I would only like I wouldn't come back
- 22:22on me like uh okay. I mean I like it.
- 22:25Yeah, from a business perspective.
- 22:27You're right. It's not they're not going to
- 22:28lose a lot of people but from an Optics perspective, how Dory
- 22:33would translate and how the the Press would use that story to
- 22:38leverage their position that Rogan is dangerous is that's
- 22:42that's that's an issue. and the other problem I see to is Like
- 22:50I've asked people how Rogue how Rogan is dangerous, and they
- 22:54say, well, he spreads misinformation and I'm like,
- 22:57how? Well we, as people who don't
- 22:59believe in, you know, the vaccine on and I'm like, well
- 23:03how having them on and allowing them to express their opinions?
- 23:07How is that in and of itself dangerous because he doesn't
- 23:11always agree with people on, you know, things even when he does
- 23:15have people on. And it's, it's weird to me how
- 23:19whole thing and like having a conversation is now even if you
- 23:25don't like someone is now considered a you know blasphemy
- 23:31almost yeah. That's it's like weird.
- 23:33You nailed it? It's Blasphemous.
- 23:35It's a the yeah I can't recommend that critical cynical
- 23:40theories book more. Because that's exactly what the
- 23:44conclusion you I drew was that this is essentially political
- 23:49evangelism. It's not any it's not really
- 23:53based in fact and it's not up for debate.
- 23:57Like if Whatever, their conclusions are, you have to
- 24:00agree with them even if you could prove or, you know, you'd
- 24:02have enough facts to argue against it, that's off the table
- 24:06verboten, you don't do that. And so the more that that
- 24:11worldview has taken, hold in media, big Tech entertainment
- 24:15government, the more dangerous. It becomes to question it
- 24:20because it's growing Steam, and it's growing power, and it's
- 24:23growing influence, and it's not a far cry.
- 24:27Guy from socialist regimes that had political re-education camps
- 24:30and would kill intellectuals, be the, you know, who disagreed?
- 24:33It's it's really the same, I same concept spiritually.
- 24:37So it's, that's, I think that's to me.
- 24:40That's the reason why it's a dangerous conversation
- 24:44misinformation. It's, you know, your grades up
- 24:47essentially crimes against the state is what?
- 24:49If it works out to? Yeah.
- 24:52The other, the other weird thing to someone brought this to my
- 24:56attention, why? Two weeks ago and I had a chance
- 24:59to discuss it but you know we're talking people canceling Joe
- 25:04Rogan. But the other thing that's
- 25:07interesting too is now they're also canceling.
- 25:10People who are they're canceling, dead people.
- 25:12Now to imagine that's another we're not going on.
- 25:16I'm not sure if you heard anything about this, but I guess
- 25:22there and I haven't watched it. But I guess there's like a
- 25:2512-part like Documentary series on Annie.
- 25:30That's supposed to make like it's basically a smear campaign
- 25:34against Hugh. Hefner.
- 25:35It's yeah. From like it's from some of the
- 25:38former like I'm not even sure if they were Playmates but you know
- 25:43former have girlfriends who like oh you know alleged that like he
- 25:48write them or what you know like force them into some weird, you
- 25:52know things and any like promoted it as like a big
- 25:56takedown. And when in reality, like all of
- 26:00these, you know, Playboy staff members and a few of the
- 26:03Playmates have come out and said, no, really, you know, this
- 26:08stuff like this never happened. Wow, I had not heard that,
- 26:11that's interesting. So it's, it's an yeah, it's
- 26:15interesting. And you know, I, you know, say
- 26:19what you will about half the Eye-Fi, do find interesting
- 26:23that. Now, they've been going after
- 26:26him because Was. You know, back in the day, like
- 26:30Playboy used to be kind of an open forum for opinion that they
- 26:35used to have like the left, right?
- 26:37You know, debate in the magazine and I almost wonder if that's
- 26:41one of the reasons why they're going after him was because he
- 26:45was free speech. I don't know.
- 26:48My interpretation would most likely be toxic masculinity
- 26:52would be there. Would be their aim.
- 26:54Yeah. However it's interesting because
- 26:57him and And Larry Flynt not so much half, but I'm fairly
- 27:02certain, he was involved. They were instrumental in a lot
- 27:05of free speech battles in. Like I think the 60s 70s.
- 27:10Yeah. Supreme court stuff that
- 27:13basically changed the laws of the United States forever.
- 27:18You know, from these two guys who you know, do porn.
- 27:20So, yeah, that is interesting. I can't really weigh in on much
- 27:25more than that because I haven't seen the documentary and I
- 27:27don't, I don't really What about half?
- 27:29Except I just have an impression of, you know, his, you know,
- 27:31Playboy as it were lifestyle, but I II don't, I don't know.
- 27:36I mean, it's maybe they've got a point.
- 27:39I'd have to, I'd have to look into it more, you know, depends
- 27:43on his making it. I just, I, I just find it more
- 27:46interesting that like, okay, the man's been dead for five years
- 27:52at this point. Like okay, what?
- 27:54It's more of like why cans lent him now and that and that's what
- 27:59I find weird, like they're running out of people to cancel.
- 28:02So now they're, you know, now there Literally digging up
- 28:07corpses and that all that. It's, it's weird.
- 28:12Hmm. Yeah, I guess, I just know it
- 28:15surprises me anymore because I understand a lot of the aims of
- 28:20critical cynical critical theory is to basically undo and destroy
- 28:26everything that came before it no matter what it is.
- 28:29So it's kind of like they have to remake.
- 28:32Everything Playboy has been pretty well.
- 28:35Oak of late though, which is interesting.
- 28:37Yeah, ooh, like, they have like a trans man or I don't know what
- 28:43I'm supposed to say but it was a guy on the cover.
- 28:46Yeah. And that, you know, is like this
- 28:48is Playboy. This is a men's magazine who is
- 28:51that's not your target audience. So yeah, I don't know.
- 28:54I'm not sure where that's coming from at all, it's interesting.
- 28:57Yeah, it's yeah, it's it's, you know, follow the fall of the
- 29:02progressive some narrative at like, at all.
- 29:05Us, you know, and I mean, same thing with like maybe not quite
- 29:10in the same vein but like, you know, I've also heard you say on
- 29:14your podcast and this is awesome thing.
- 29:16I kind of wanted to talk to me about because when I turn it
- 29:18tune into the Vigilante you know the show that you and vigilante
- 29:22do and hardening, I can't remember.
- 29:23Remember the name culture crime fighter?
- 29:25Okay. Yeah.
- 29:26When I turn into culture crime, Fighters, you were talking out
- 29:30how like you don't watch TV anymore.
- 29:34Yeah, I find it challenging. Challenging or watch movies,
- 29:37even movies that you generally, like you don't really watch.
- 29:44You say, you find it, challenging can you kind of
- 29:46expand on that a bit? I guess I do, I think part of
- 29:50it's personal, you know. I think it's partially Just
- 29:54being personally turned off from Hollywood in general.
- 29:57And as far as just having like a bad impression of this system
- 30:01and the town and the people, and the ladders, you have to Cloud
- 30:05the whole thing. Just kind of has left a sour
- 30:08taste in my mouth, but beyond that, you know, I don't get it.
- 30:13I don't get enough. Olive branches from the
- 30:15creatives in Hollywood, to kind of leave and mentally, and open
- 30:20mind to people other than her in their little club.
- 30:23And so, when I'm Watching something I'm just like so these
- 30:25are the people that think I'm a toxic monster for disagreeing
- 30:29with their world view? It's like well why the hell am I
- 30:31going to watch what they put out like who cares?
- 30:34It's just fine. I find it like less interesting
- 30:36and just like I don't and then the fact that I'm even thinking
- 30:39about that while I'm consuming the content is draining and I
- 30:43just don't want to feel that way.
- 30:44I'm like I'm watching this for entertainment escapism.
- 30:47This is not doing it for me, so I'm going to put on a podcast of
- 30:51someone I like or I'm going to watch a play.
- 30:54Video game that I know will you know satisfy that escapism or
- 30:57yeah yeah so yeah I just find it kind of sort of draining so I
- 31:02can't. Why would I put myself through
- 31:03this? I mean I've I've it something
- 31:06you say that because I'm I'm more or less like on an 80s, you
- 31:12know, movie can I have him for like the past year and a half
- 31:15two years? Like, I've even been watching
- 31:18like B movies that were, I considered bad because even
- 31:22those are Good considered to the stuff that's out there now and I
- 31:28mean some of them maybe cheese is hell but it's it's better
- 31:33than being, you know, preached to every five minutes and you
- 31:39know, it's like you said, the I find the more often than not.
- 31:43The agenda takes me out of things as well.
- 31:48Yeah, it's boring. It's really just boring.
- 31:50Like, I've made a post about that, you know, years ago.
- 31:54And I said something like, I'd never would never turn on
- 31:57anything and hope that what I'm watching, reflects my values or
- 32:03my you know, or Maya politics, because that's propaganda, and
- 32:07that's boring. And it is it's as much as like I
- 32:11voted for Trump in 2020. So I did I say that?
- 32:15I need six. Yeah, I did in 2016.
- 32:17Because I did, I thought it was all a smokescreen.
- 32:19I thought it was all a fake psyop.
- 32:21I didn't believe in it at all but then I really thought he did
- 32:25a good job and I thought he deserved another crack at it,
- 32:29but how should I lost my point what?
- 32:33Well it's funny that you bring up front because like I voted
- 32:37for man, 2016. But I was kind of hesitant
- 32:40because You know, when I, when I was growing up, he was the guy
- 32:46who did The Apprentice. And so when, when he ran it
- 32:50first time, like this guy has has to be a joke.
- 32:54He's only doing this for publicity and whatnot, and I
- 32:59thought it was like the producers were there.
- 33:01Just trying to create the worst possible candidate that I get,
- 33:04you know, easily defeatable. Yeah, that actually backfire
- 33:08face. Anyway, I thought the same thing
- 33:11and then what From was, you know, as the campaign kind of
- 33:17progressed I'm like, I'm like, oh shit.
- 33:21This guy actually, you know, my have a shot and then you know
- 33:27and then when it came down to like between him and, you know,
- 33:32but when it came down between him and Hillary, I was like,
- 33:35okay well you know there's no way in hell.
- 33:37I'm voting for that bitch. Right?
- 33:39So, you know and I always You and I had said at the beginning
- 33:43of the, you know, primaries as in 2015, that I would vote for
- 33:50whoever was going to be, you know, regardless of who it was.
- 33:55They you know basically facing off against Hillary just because
- 33:58I find her a despicable human being, she's pretty real
- 34:03personally and like I will I would have voted for like an
- 34:07empty paint. Can a Madman if that had been
- 34:10the You know Contender but I think I think Trump your same
- 34:18thing about Trump. People say that Trump is you
- 34:21know the cause all the Strife but really I think it's always
- 34:24been there. He just kind of Unearthed a lot
- 34:27of it and exhumed and exposed what that wrought was and I'm
- 34:33not saying he's perfect but he he did a better job than I think
- 34:39a lot of people gave him credit for Yeah I think you're right I
- 34:44think he did a much better job than pretty much the entire
- 34:47mainstream. Media would be willing to admit
- 34:50as far as the Divide thing is concerned you could say he
- 34:55created The Divide but it's because the woke stuff he
- 35:00entertained absolutely none of it where every other president
- 35:04would at least kind of postulate and pretend and sort of you
- 35:07know, act as if they gave a shit.
- 35:09He just was real. Absolutely not.
- 35:12Refuse to give in any of it. And it was it was I think that's
- 35:16what infuriated them and that additionally, he wasn't an
- 35:19establishment guy. So he didn't have to go through
- 35:21all the BS that a traditional politician would have to go
- 35:25through, and he didn't suffer the media and they all just
- 35:28collectively were like, you're not allowed to do any of those
- 35:31things. So re re re we're going to freak
- 35:35out for the next four years and that's exactly what they did.
- 35:38Yeah. Well, the other thing that was
- 35:40weird to was So I was I was working for I wasn't working for
- 35:48like technically I wasn't getting paid but I was riding
- 35:50for a college Republican like blogging site and they went the
- 35:59never Trump route. You know, that that sucked and I
- 36:04and I along with a few other people were basically like well,
- 36:08You know, like yeah, I don't know.
- 36:11So like Trump's attitude but like, are you serious?
- 36:14If it can't, you know, if it comes down between like him and
- 36:18he'll are, like, you can't be serious, you're going to, you
- 36:20know, abstain or, you know, vote for holler, like, as opposed to
- 36:24him, like, like, why. And basically, I was asked to
- 36:29leave because of of that. So that actually drove me to
- 36:34like trumpy bit more because I'm like, okay well, you know, he's
- 36:38He is pissing off the Republicans to then, you know,
- 36:44there has to be something here. Yeah.
- 36:47So I think their campaign of hate, if you will all it did was
- 36:53polarize people against them whomever, whether it's
- 36:57Republicans or the left and just kind of made the Trump space
- 37:01even stronger and more resilient.
- 37:04And I don't think anyone expected that the thing with the
- 37:08told, Trump thing is that it was, it was so much propaganda
- 37:12against him from the start. I mean, I wasn't that into
- 37:15politics at the time but I remember the first thing I'd
- 37:18heard about Trump, while he was running is the first.
- 37:22I'd ever heard he was even running.
- 37:23Was this guy's the worst candidate ever.
- 37:26That was like, the first thing I heard, I didn't even know he was
- 37:29up for running for president. But the first information I got
- 37:32was that he's terrible and I'm like, when anyone leads with
- 37:36that kind of an opinion or like what I'm supposed to think.
- 37:38Before I've even had a chance to understand what it is.
- 37:41You're even talking about immediately suspicious.
- 37:45Yeah. And I mean and the fact that
- 37:48like, even during the primary election, like they, you know,
- 37:53the fact like they taste almost time going after him in
- 37:57particular. Like yeah, I get it.
- 38:00He's a bit of a cartoon character and you know what, not
- 38:04in some ways, but also, that's why, that's why you have to.
- 38:09That's why you have to love to love them too.
- 38:12Because it's like, if they're going to pick To pick.
- 38:15He'll write, you know who everyone has.
- 38:17Then we might as well pick, you know, trap be cut because it's
- 38:23just going to be the most absurd, you know, shit show.
- 38:27I'm an election. And it was.
- 38:29But you know and honestly I wasn't, I was, I was shocked
- 38:33that he won. I mean like I got up.
- 38:36Oh shocked. I got couldn't believe it.
- 38:40I got up on Election Day and and I was like, well, you know, this
- 38:46was a fun ride but you know they're gonna rig it and she's
- 38:51gonna win and you know, I guess I'm gonna have to pour myself a
- 38:57bottle of Maker's Mark and just you know go to bed sad and You
- 39:03know, and then and then when he won I remember like I stayed up
- 39:07to watch and when the when he won I was like holy fucking
- 39:13shit. Is this for real?
- 39:17I couldn't, I couldn't believe it.
- 39:21I don't. I never went to bed.
- 39:23I never went to bed that night. I believe I stayed up like 24
- 39:26hours straight. Just because I was like, I can't
- 39:29believe. I can't believe this is
- 39:31happening. Yeah, my thought was when he won
- 39:36was well, I guess anyone actually can be president.
- 39:39Yeah, I didn't believe that. And now it's true.
- 39:42This guy won. I was like, I was shocked.
- 39:45And I tell you, I didn't I didn't vote for him.
- 39:48I don't remember who I voted for.
- 39:49I voted for some third party like protest vote because I was
- 39:52just like, I don't, I don't believe in either one of these
- 39:54people. But the moment when I got
- 39:57excited, that Trump, one was when I opened up Facebook and
- 40:01all the people like in my Hollywood Community, who
- 40:04antagonized me for disagreeing with their ideas or, you know,
- 40:07had all these prejudices against me because I was a straight
- 40:10white male. And and you know, they were just
- 40:12generally hostile to any ideas that aren't Their own.
- 40:16They were all miserable and I was like, this is great.
- 40:21I love this. This is amazing.
- 40:24And it was like every like oh no I can't.
- 40:27Like what's the world? I was just like this is
- 40:30terrific. Like wow.
- 40:31I think I like this Trump Guy. This is great.
- 40:34Yeah, II had a. So it was funny because I
- 40:39actually have like a, I actually had like a second cousin, right?
- 40:44Me like a long. Us probably.
- 40:48I'm going to say like a page and a half roughly length.
- 40:53Facebook message. And keep in mind, like this is
- 40:57someone who I hadn't you, you know, like, I see her at Family
- 41:01reunions, maybe like every, you know, once every five years or
- 41:04something like that, like we're not super close or anything but
- 41:07she wrote me like a page and have what a basically saying
- 41:12that she was disowning me and she can't believe that me of all
- 41:15people. Could vote for such a, you know,
- 41:20a monster like Trump. And I'm like, well, you know,
- 41:23I'm a registered Republican. And so like, what?
- 41:30You know, why, why are you shocked?
- 41:32And, you know, and second of all high have high after five years,
- 41:38like, you know, we haven't we haven't spoken and now you're,
- 41:41you know, disowning and crying because You know, I'm because I
- 41:48voted for the orange bad man. Like, wow, you know, and then
- 41:53and then when Biden one, she liked, she dies, she dies.
- 41:57I mean, like tried to bring me back into the fold and I'm like,
- 41:59no, fuck you, you know, you you know, you made you this major
- 42:05decision. You should, it's like now that
- 42:08you got your way. Now we can be friends.
- 42:10Is that how it works? Like my character is a person is
- 42:14not important. Into you, is it?
- 42:16It's my politics. That's how you define your
- 42:18worldview. I lost a lot of friends.
- 42:20In l.a. one in particular who was I was really close with and
- 42:24him and his girlfriend man. They just got more and more woke
- 42:28and me having my own opinions of my own ideas became more and
- 42:31more of a problem. And I found one day, I was just
- 42:34like, dude, all they ever do is argue, that's like all I ever do
- 42:37is argue with you. Like I feel like you don't
- 42:41respect me feel like we're not friends.
- 42:44Like it's like this is the If you are taking this sort of
- 42:47political battle into our friendship, and making it about
- 42:51that, and it's really difficult to deal with.
- 42:54Like it's a very hard thing to deal and he just kind of, I
- 42:58don't know, it was all or nothing and it just so you know
- 43:01and ending our friendship and I really hurt it really sucks
- 43:03because he's a good friend, but they just became an
- 43:06insufferable. And it was the thing about
- 43:10because I would talk to my mom about this, right?
- 43:12I'd like, bitch and she'd be, like, just don't talk about.
- 43:14I'm like Don't ever bring it up. It's just, it was always just
- 43:19I'm assaulted with their opinion in their world view all the
- 43:22time. Yeah.
- 43:23Every every social circumstances in my acting classes at work,
- 43:27it's just it was a just a flood of their world view their
- 43:31information and it's like you you just feel stifled and you're
- 43:34drowning and it's like you just have to kind of push back just
- 43:37for your own sanity, but that was a problem they found I found
- 43:40one, I found one he doesn't, you know, he's which Burnham and so
- 43:45it Was it was you know it just became intolerable that I had to
- 43:48leave. I left went to Texas about a
- 43:51little less than a year ago and I've been here ever since.
- 43:54Oh, really. So you're so you're in?
- 43:56You're in Texas now. Hmm.
- 43:58Yeah, awesome. I it's funny because up until I
- 44:03was, I've been tired for graduating high school.
- 44:08I'm a Colorado Native. And then I moved to Florida with
- 44:11my folks. And at first, everyone was like,
- 44:15You know, why are you moving to Florida?
- 44:17There's nothing but like there's nothing but old people and
- 44:21beaches there. And you know people thought I
- 44:24was crazy and now, you know, with everything with with the
- 44:28kuf and you know what, not everyone's like Sam, you're a g,
- 44:34your Genius and you know it's I mean that whole thing is is
- 44:39weird too because I mean I mean, in regards to the whole, you
- 44:48know, thing with covid and whatnot to, and, you know, I'm
- 44:51I'm, I'm not spreading misinformation, I'm not saying
- 44:56whether or not, you should be, you know, backs or not YouTube.
- 44:59I'm not saying that any of that, but not a doctor.
- 45:03I'm not a doctor. We're not medical professionals,
- 45:05we're just two guys chatting on the internet, but I find the
- 45:12fact and Again, this goes back to Rogan.
- 45:17I find that I just just like having a conversation about not
- 45:21even the vaccine but the Mandate is what I have a problem with.
- 45:26And the fact that is considered controversial now is mine is
- 45:33mind-boggling. These are the same people who
- 45:36scream my body, my choice whenever it comes to abortion
- 45:40but yeah, you know when it comes to taking it back scene, You
- 45:46know, it's you must do or else you want Grandma to die.
- 45:50It's a very weird, you know, attitude to have aligned.
- 45:56I think it's collectivism versus individuality, I think is why
- 46:00they can be so hypocritical, because when it's the
- 46:05collective, even when they're saying my body, my choice,
- 46:08they're not even necessarily saying my body, they're saying
- 46:11my like, the women are bodies, their work.
- 46:14Will you can't tell us what to do.
- 46:16Do not necessarily me, and it's the same thing with.
- 46:18I think the whole cool thing it's like, it's not, it's like,
- 46:22oh, you're putting me at risk, you're putting my family.
- 46:25It's about, you know, you're supposed to do it for all of us.
- 46:28It's this collectivist thing. You're not really supposed to
- 46:31disagree or have your own ideas, your own opinions.
- 46:34That's that's dangerous, that's misinformation.
- 46:37So I think that's where they're, that's why they're so
- 46:41aggressively hypocritical, right?
- 46:43When they throw it out there like that, so that's blatantly.
- 46:46Against the principle, you hold super dear, but in this
- 46:49instance, that principle is gone.
- 46:51So, how can you stand there and rally these things?
- 46:56But, you know, I think it's because ultimately, it doesn't
- 46:59really, it's just the narrative, you know, the narrative, the
- 47:02same narrative was just a few years ago, pharmaceutical
- 47:05companies were the worst things on the planet.
- 47:09They were horrible. You know, they were creating
- 47:11overpriced drugs, you know, they have all these lawsuits their
- 47:14terrible. This is why we need.
- 47:15So Socialized medicine, blah, blah blah, fast.
- 47:17Forward. Now Pfizer is on par with like a
- 47:21Cancer Institute the they're just, they're just doing good
- 47:24work for the people. Yeah.
- 47:25Trying their best. It's like when the hell did you
- 47:28think that? Which is, which is funny because
- 47:31it because, again, like, Pharmaceuticals are something
- 47:35that like, you know, I guess like, I guess I would kind of
- 47:39consider myself somewhat more liberal when it comes to
- 47:41Pharmaceuticals, in the sense that like I do, lots of
- 47:44alternative. You know, medicine, like I'm
- 47:48more into that type of seven, you know, walk.
- 47:51I'm you know, obviously there's some, you know, there's some
- 47:56Effectiveness for, you know, traditional traditional medicine
- 47:59obviously, but you know, I'm into alternative medicine.
- 48:03And I think it's weird that the same people were questioning
- 48:06like, you said, big Pharma five years ago are now, you know,
- 48:10Vietnam or, you know saying You must get the jab, the other.
- 48:14The other thing too is When people ask, you know, why have
- 48:18why haven't you gotten vaccinated yet?
- 48:20The one thing I always refer back to is I had the flu vaccine
- 48:26when I was in high school like my junior and I got it was the
- 48:29only year I got the flu vaccine because I thought it would be.
- 48:33I thought it was like a particularly virulent flu strain
- 48:37that year. So I got it from you know safe I
- 48:40wound up getting the flu and like sick as a dog for like
- 48:45three weeks because About flu shot I think.
- 48:48And so ever since then I'm like you know I'm not doing that
- 48:51again. Doesn't mean it won't work for
- 48:53other people. I just find it doesn't work for
- 48:55me and so because of that I've been, you know, kind of
- 48:59Consciousness with the whole covid thing.
- 49:01But that doesn't mean that I don't think other people should
- 49:05be allowed to get if they you know want to and I Liberty.
- 49:10Yeah that's the Crux of the whole argument.
- 49:12I think like the Canadian trucker thing is a great example
- 49:15of that. That they, you know, they're all
- 49:17they're resisting there and Ottawa at the nation's capital
- 49:21and you know, and I think when they mobilized was when it
- 49:26became a mandate before that, you know, there was people that
- 49:30didn't like it, but there wasn't this sort of political action.
- 49:34And apparently, most of the members of that Convoy are
- 49:38vaccinated. They don't have a problem with
- 49:40the with the vaccination, they have a problem with the
- 49:43government overreach in the Mandate and that's where they
- 49:46drew. Line.
- 49:47And I think that's where a lot of people have an issue.
- 49:50You even people who got it there, like, okay, but you
- 49:51shouldn't Force other people to get it.
- 49:53Why would you force people to like?
- 49:55That's not, that's do. That's, that's not a freedom.
- 49:59You know, you've now made you've now are forcing someone to take
- 50:01a medication that's that's like Nuremberg stuff.
- 50:04Like what's, what is this? What's going on here?
- 50:07Yeah, and I mean and they're they're conveniently leaving the
- 50:12fact that all those truckers are are vaccinated.
- 50:15Dude, they're leaving that out in there and I've been making it
- 50:18seem like these are all anti-vaxxers that think that you
- 50:22know the vaccine is going to you know like that you're going to
- 50:26get like Phi, you know. And obviously I think some of
- 50:29the vaccine conspiracies are nuts to.
- 50:31I don't think, I don't think aliens are going to communicate
- 50:34with you if you get the vaccine, I don't think that, you know.
- 50:38I don't think I was like I don't definitely get it.
- 50:40I don't yeah, right with that I don't think I don't think that
- 50:44you're going to be able to pick up 5G signals although all that
- 50:49that would also improve my elbow if that were the case, that
- 50:52would actually be helpful because I don't get to good
- 50:56coverage, where I am so to have like 5 G in my arm that would be
- 51:02that would just be right. But you know 5G thing, that is
- 51:07the weirdest one. It was like, where the hell did
- 51:09that come from? Like, I never looked into it.
- 51:11I never read any q and on papers, but I just was like,
- 51:15what the heck? Why why that one?
- 51:19It was so out of nowhere. Well, so the Q&A on thing is
- 51:22weird because you have like the you act like the really weird
- 51:26lefties. Right?
- 51:27But then why, but then you have the human on people and so the
- 51:34Q&A on people they got a Old of the shows Gmail account and they
- 51:38just started. Emailing me like these random,
- 51:44you know, things like that JFK jr.
- 51:47You know, still alive and stuff like that.
- 51:49And, and I and I'm like, okay. Obviously, there are nuts on the
- 51:55left. Also, like how people are
- 51:58people? Honestly bun into the whole
- 52:01queue and on thing and yes I mean, you know.
- 52:07Yeah and obviously you know, that's what happened with
- 52:10January 6 and I I tell people but you know, I don't I don't
- 52:16agree with the cap with the cattle, right?
- 52:18And what it went down, but I understand why a lot of people
- 52:22were there to protest. You know, the Whatever the
- 52:24election. But you know, the people who
- 52:26stormed the capital like that was that was a group just like
- 52:3015 people who are just absolutely unhinged unhinged
- 52:35unhinged and arguably encouraged to do so.
- 52:39Yeah. They there's a video of the cops
- 52:42opening the gate and encouraging people through.
- 52:44I mean, there's the video of the shaman guy getting an actual
- 52:48tour where the guy that got like the guard or whomever, is
- 52:51explaining what the building is an All this stuff.
- 52:54Yeah, and one thing I heard today I was listening to James
- 52:59Lindsay on Rogan. I guess he was just on there
- 53:01like last week, apparently at the rally.
- 53:06Alex Jones. Was there encouraging people not
- 53:10to go in there saying right? Yeah don't fall for it and I
- 53:14never heard anyone. I've never heard anyone mention
- 53:16that until now and it's over a year later.
- 53:18I've never heard anyone say that one time, right after right.
- 53:21After the January 6th, Happened. I so so it was weird because
- 53:29with all January 6, thing when it was being planned, and I'm
- 53:33not saying this to be pompous, but I knew going into it that
- 53:37there was something I smelled something kind of fishy about
- 53:43it. I kind of figured that they were
- 53:45going to try something. So, you know, I put out a video
- 53:49and I told, you know, viewers don't go to the, don't go to
- 53:54this thing because it's not going.
- 53:58Like, I just have a funny feeling but it's not going to,
- 54:01you know, something's going to happen.
- 54:03It's going to be like Charlottesville all over again
- 54:07and you know, sure enough. You know, stuff they'd go down.
- 54:12What was interesting is did, they were saying that Alex
- 54:16Jones, you know, was one of the instigators but I, you know, I
- 54:20found video of Alex Jones also saying.
- 54:24This thing is, you know, could be a psyop.
- 54:27It, you know, it doesn't seem legit and then, he disavowed
- 54:32Kuhn on multiple times and also called out the Q and A on, you
- 54:37know, the shaman guy. And just about Hammond, you
- 54:41know, I put that up on my channel as well and you know,
- 54:45granted I think, I don't know what to think about, Alex Jones.
- 54:49I think that he's right on some stuff and I think that he's
- 54:53generally, he's just weird and entertaining.
- 54:57But I found, you know, the episode of Rogan talking a lot
- 55:02about Robin today, but the episode of road where he, where
- 55:04he's with him and Tim Dylan, Iran and Rogan is forcibly
- 55:09stopping. X to stop.
- 55:11Stop, what are you talking about?
- 55:13Let me look that up, because he would just, he was just
- 55:16barreling forward. And then the amount of things
- 55:19that Alex was referencing in like his, you know, tirade that
- 55:23had actually happened, that were accurate.
- 55:25I was like, wow, like I thought at best, he was kind of
- 55:30misinterpreting a lot of history or was, you know, kind of taking
- 55:34isolated incidences, but when I saw that, I was like, that's all
- 55:39those are all good. Horrible.
- 55:40And they're true. Wow, this guy is talking a lot
- 55:45more truth than I was even slightly willing to what's the
- 55:50word like, I was just surprised how accurate it was like.
- 55:52Whoa, that's not what I expected.
- 55:54Yeah. And it's funny because you know,
- 55:57again talking about Rogan, I used to think that I used to
- 56:01think the Alex Jones was, you know, simply a quack.
- 56:05And then the first time in one Rogan's podcast, I I think in
- 56:10like 2015 when he was talking like interdimensional child
- 56:16child molester demons or something like that, I mean the
- 56:19guy does have comedic shots whether or not those are
- 56:23intentional or not, you know, but I'm like, oh yeah, okay, to
- 56:27have Rogan sit down in, you know, talk talk with the sky
- 56:31about his background and understand where he's at least
- 56:34coming from like this. Is that type of stuff that I can
- 56:38get behind and yeah, same. And also you know, Adam Adam
- 56:42Carolla. Does this does the same thing
- 56:45to, you know, I'm I'm also a big fan of, you know, Adam Carolla
- 56:49and I'm He doesn't. I mean obviously it's funny
- 56:55because when I first started listening to podcast like way
- 57:00back in high school he was calling the number one and then
- 57:03rowing took the spot fairly quickly.
- 57:06And you know, II told someone the other day like going going
- 57:11back to the whole, you know, Rogan conversely.
- 57:13Like I don't know, one Rogan would just be on like a webcam
- 57:18with it with like Brian Redman and his buddies and just talk
- 57:21like You're talking like, dildos and sucks.
- 57:24Joe? What not like that's what
- 57:27podcasting was back in the back in the day.
- 57:31Yeah. And so you know, that's the
- 57:33other thing like this whole thing of like Rogan's erases.
- 57:36No, he's not. He's a, you know, he took meted
- 57:39and you know, some, you know, some jokes are funny and, you
- 57:45know, in context or out of context.
- 57:48Even? Yeah.
- 57:49I know it's he's always been a funny guy.
- 57:51I think You know, over the years, he he changed but like
- 57:56what he does on the show was a little less focus on just
- 57:59dicking around with his friends. He still does do that, you know,
- 58:02he still have like three comics on and just get drunk and high
- 58:06and mess around. And that's really, you know,
- 58:09that's entertaining to with then he'll have these
- 58:11extraordinarily, pensive conversations.
- 58:13I think Rogan is really responsible for this rise of the
- 58:18sort of intellectual like Renaissance, we're having,
- 58:21right? Right.
- 58:22Now, with all these unique voices out there and people who
- 58:25are articulating against this, this, you know, sort of the
- 58:29critical theory thing and the sort of overreach of government
- 58:33because before that I didn't know of anyone like, like Jordan
- 58:37Pederson or Brett Weinstein. I've never heard of these guys
- 58:40before and I don't know how I would have without him, but you
- 58:44find this guy, you find this guy Jordan Pederson.
- 58:46With their Scotto, weird Canadian voice and he just like,
- 58:50is blowing my mind. I'm like, that's exactly what
- 58:53I'm seeing. I didn't know that but that's
- 58:55your what you're saying is accurate.
- 58:57And it was like, wow, it's like a breath of fresh air and and
- 59:01you know, I think it, I couldn't have been the only one so I
- 59:04imagine that that contributed to this sort of blossoming of all
- 59:08these new. Like these dis new intellectual
- 59:11internet Renaissance that we're going through right now and I
- 59:14think it's like he's directly responsible and I think that
- 59:16that's a good thing and he's a good broadcaster because of
- 59:20that. Well, Well and you know, I think
- 59:24the other thing too is you know, like he he references you know
- 59:30like Howard Stern being one of his you know influences and you
- 59:34know, Howard Stern. Basically you know, recently
- 59:36Canton said, fuck you. And and then had the audacity to
- 59:40say, I'm still the king of all media and it's like and it's
- 59:45like no one under 45 wasn't And I mean generous with that be
- 59:55like no like no one. I know was instead to Howard the
- 59:59last time. I don't know anybody.
- 1:00:02Yeah. The last time I remember Howard
- 1:00:03streaming relevant is when he had, you know, Jenna Jameson on
- 1:00:07or something that was like 20 years ago.
- 1:00:11Our you know, something like no one, no one knows whose storm
- 1:00:17it. This he hasn't been relevant for
- 1:00:19years. I remember listening to Opie and
- 1:00:20Anthony years back. Back.
- 1:00:22This was a while ago. It was like 10 or so years ago,
- 1:00:25excuse me, they play they played a clip of him on his show like
- 1:00:31adopting puppies or something like he was running like a puppy
- 1:00:35adoption thing and you just like what?
- 1:00:38Like, this is, Howard Stern. Like this controversial edgy
- 1:00:42guy, you know, this shock jock, king of all media guy is like,
- 1:00:46yeah, we got a lot of good cats and puppies here and it's like
- 1:00:50that has its place I Know if it's the Howard Stern Show
- 1:00:53though. You like what?
- 1:00:56Wellman for a while? Well, granted like I you know
- 1:01:00people say oh well how about Howard Stern?
- 1:01:02Broke down barriers? Okay.
- 1:01:05Like I can appreciate that, like, from a historical
- 1:01:09perspective as someone who's into broadcasting history and
- 1:01:12whatnot but like, you know, so did Rush Limbaugh.
- 1:01:15So did, you know, opening it? Oh, being Anthony?
- 1:01:19And, you know, I undertook line everyone Some 20 banana much.
- 1:01:23But I do subscribe to, you know, compound media.
- 1:01:27Oh, really? I, I still think You know, I
- 1:01:31don't think Anthony who me is as edgy as he used to be partially
- 1:01:35partially because everything is behind a pay wall and also maybe
- 1:01:40it's because my humor is so dark.
- 1:01:42And so, you know, like I've just been numbed to, you know, a lot
- 1:01:47of the shock shock things. Now that I'm just kind of like
- 1:01:51yeah, you know, like like you said nothing, nothing shocks me
- 1:01:56anymore. So yeah, I'm a big fan of
- 1:01:59Anthony. I'm Subscriber of compound
- 1:02:01media. Right now.
- 1:02:02I have been in the past but I just I just don't have the time
- 1:02:06to dedicate to. There's Something Different.
- 1:02:07Yeah, I just don't but I kind of know what you mean about
- 1:02:11Anthony. Like I saw Anthony still think
- 1:02:13Anthony is a very funny guy. However I just think he was much
- 1:02:17better with Jim Norton. You know, the other comedian
- 1:02:20that he was, oh, yeah, I yeah, I know.
- 1:02:23Yeah, I know. Jim Norton is a Jim horn as a,
- 1:02:27is an odd guy. I don't really his sense of
- 1:02:31humor is I don't really want to say, I don't like, I just don't,
- 1:02:36it's not my cup of cup of tea. Like yeah, well I'll die,
- 1:02:40although I, you know, the fact that he still possesses so many
- 1:02:44people off with his humor. I do.
- 1:02:47I do kind of like that it he's just out.
- 1:02:49They're still like traveling here.
- 1:02:52Yeah, and I do find his chip, chip, or some character to be to
- 1:02:57be funny Chiba. So in fact, it's funny I
- 1:03:02mentioned, you know, Dennis Miller.
- 1:03:05I know someone who used to work for Dennis Moore who also knows
- 1:03:12who also knows Jim North. I really I don't I don't know if
- 1:03:15he knows well but Yeah. So I mean that whole thing is
- 1:03:21interesting with kind of comedians being the, the
- 1:03:24Arbiters of kind of, you know, defending the culture.
- 1:03:28Now, it's who I find. It's interesting because I don't
- 1:03:31think that's an incredibly new phenomenon because you had like
- 1:03:35Carlin guys, right? Like in the 80s who were Bill
- 1:03:39Hicks, you know, who are saying these critical things about
- 1:03:42society that you weren't hearing anywhere else, that were clearly
- 1:03:46well-thought-out, they very insightful.
- 1:03:48Then funny. You know, it's, there's people
- 1:03:51out there who are very smart and very sharp and insightful, but
- 1:03:55when they're on their own, it's just kind of like, you feel like
- 1:03:58you're in a college lecture, you just like, okay, like this is
- 1:04:00interesting, but it's boring. Whereas, when a comedian can
- 1:04:05really capture something like that, they have this
- 1:04:07entertainment Instinct, they know how to keep a crowd
- 1:04:10engaged. So when they're making a point,
- 1:04:14they usually do it very elegantly and very concise
- 1:04:18nicely and an entertaining matter.
- 1:04:20So I think it's a weird, it's a weird phenomenon, but a lot of
- 1:04:24comedians I think. I've kind of been lightning
- 1:04:26rods. Excuse me for promoting, like,
- 1:04:28for really advancing the cultural conversation and I
- 1:04:33think that's, that's a great outlet.
- 1:04:34But a good Outlet is any I I think it's a good Outlet.
- 1:04:39My one concern now though, kind of with Connie has you know and
- 1:04:43again going back to the whole thing with Rogan Is now we're
- 1:04:48starting to see you know, Rogan getting timed out down a bit and
- 1:04:53I'm, you know, I'm I'm I'm almost wondering like, you know,
- 1:04:58will more comedians, you know, like start to start to
- 1:05:04self-censor and I hope they don't.
- 1:05:07I really it's possible but controversy sells, you know, it
- 1:05:14is, it is a risk. You run a risk of People digging
- 1:05:18into your past or dig it into like all your podcasts and
- 1:05:21trying to take your career away from you.
- 1:05:23But I don't know. I see a lot more.
- 1:05:28I think, what's the market is? Buying is more honesty and more
- 1:05:33personal insight and personal opinion on what the cultural
- 1:05:38what's going on in culture right now than the kind of just
- 1:05:41regurgitating woke the standpoints.
- 1:05:43I don't think anyone, I don't think people are buying that
- 1:05:45anymore. Like, like, the Trevor Noah's.
- 1:05:47Like, if Trevor Noah, wasn't entrenched in an institution, I
- 1:05:51don't think he'd be irrelevant voice.
- 1:05:53Because he just says, what you're supposed to say.
- 1:05:55And I don't worry, I don't think he even is Roll that what I
- 1:05:58mean? Like, like you said, I, you
- 1:06:00know, you don't watch movies. I don't, you know, I don't want
- 1:06:04to watch, you know, that many current movies I was say, I was
- 1:06:09say, I did go and see the latest Spider-Man movie.
- 1:06:13And I actually enjoyed that strictly, because it was a
- 1:06:17Nostalgia and also, because they didn't really push anything,
- 1:06:20which for a Marvel movie. You know is actually kind of
- 1:06:24surprisingly nice. Now, I find you don't even like
- 1:06:30that even even the James Bond movie like I actually - the
- 1:06:34ending I enjoyed. I enjoyed that just has a bond
- 1:06:37you know fan and you know there if they if they fuck with that
- 1:06:43franchise too much then you know it all it's all going to come
- 1:06:47crumbling down. Yeah I my opinion I would just
- 1:06:52kind of Advise. I don't advise but I I don't go
- 1:06:59ahead. I just I don't think anything's
- 1:07:02sacred or safe. So I wouldn't yeah like abandon
- 1:07:05hope because it's like like you can check it out and see but I'm
- 1:07:10not saying go in cynically but I just like don't expect anyone
- 1:07:14who works there to protect your thing if they do Miracle but I
- 1:07:18think it's a much wiser point of view to be like yeah.
- 1:07:20This is probably going to be trash because at this point I
- 1:07:24think the onus is on them to prove us wrong.
- 1:07:26Instead of the other way around. Well and it well and then the
- 1:07:30other are going to hear is oh you just you know you just want
- 1:07:34like you just want like right wing you know, versions of
- 1:07:39something. It's like it's like no I just
- 1:07:42want to go back to like I just want to go back to the 1980
- 1:07:46where like you know, you could just, you know, dive into
- 1:07:50Nostalgia and like, you know, Like just Escape for like two
- 1:07:55hours or something and just, yeah, I think that was the
- 1:07:58point. I was going to try to make
- 1:08:00earlier than when I lost it. I is that I don't want anyone's
- 1:08:05politics reflected in a piece of entertainment.
- 1:08:07That's not why I'm interested that I like I don't want any
- 1:08:11kind of propaganda. I don't want right wing.
- 1:08:13I don't want left wing. I don't want it.
- 1:08:14I don't want that in there. Like, you could have virtues and
- 1:08:18principles and values, that's fine.
- 1:08:19But when you start, you know, forcing like Modern lens.
- 1:08:23Like, that's just like what you're supposed to this issue.
- 1:08:26It's just like, man, that's got no place entertainment.
- 1:08:30It's not, it's not why we're there to get a lecture you know
- 1:08:34like go lecture and then offer people to come.
- 1:08:37See that. But don't hide your lecture
- 1:08:39inside this slick look and movie.
- 1:08:41It's like, that's yeah, boring. And I don't want that.
- 1:08:45Well, I think the other thing too, that's very telling us this
- 1:08:48whole thing with like that happened with g, E4.
- 1:08:53And I'm not really that much of a gamer anymore.
- 1:08:55But I do remember, you know, when when G4TV was a thing, back
- 1:09:01back in the day and the fact, like they rebooted in the first
- 1:09:05thing that happens is, you know, about, Frost glider, whatever
- 1:09:10she's named doing the whole. And, you know, and you guys, you
- 1:09:17know, I see you guys out there. I'm not here for you to jerk off
- 1:09:21to it's like, you know, What it's like, where did that?
- 1:09:26Where did that come from? You know, come from.
- 1:09:28Like I almost wonder if that whole thing was a publicity
- 1:09:32stunt part, I think. Is it part of me thinks it has
- 1:09:35to be because It's just like, why would you even say something
- 1:09:42that asinine? But then again, it is how I
- 1:09:46would. So, I don't know.
- 1:09:49Yeah, well, what I found I think.
- 1:09:54During my time in Hollywood. I think a lot of people, I think
- 1:09:58parts of the part of the reason why you know, the Trump thing
- 1:10:01took everyone for such a such a loop was that a lot of people,
- 1:10:06you know, in certain these fears they don't even, they can't
- 1:10:10conceive that people have different ideas and and if they
- 1:10:15do their profane, they're they're dirty, they're unclean,
- 1:10:19they're bad, right? So when someone like this goes
- 1:10:23into, Was Fear like G4. She's on the she's of the
- 1:10:27opinion that everyone who works there at everyone.
- 1:10:29In the audience is like gonna be with her, because it's like
- 1:10:33everyone in her life is, you know, all our agents, her
- 1:10:36friends, her family, they all work, well, but they all
- 1:10:38regurgitate the same nonsense to one another.
- 1:10:40They live in this Echo chamber and then when she goes into this
- 1:10:45sphere, she assumes what she's going to be said, is going to be
- 1:10:48like, like it was in the studio where they clap, but she didn't
- 1:10:51realize that the audience I think she overestimated how much
- 1:10:55of the audience was going to be completely turned off by
- 1:10:57everything, she said, well and I think I think the other thing
- 1:11:02was was she, you know, she was addressing, you know, the
- 1:11:06YouTube chat to, you know, we're just like generalizing YouTube
- 1:11:10version. The one thing that you, you
- 1:11:14know, if there's anything I've learned, you know, in my time on
- 1:11:17the Internet, it's don't it's don't feed the trolls.
- 1:11:20I mean, there's a there's a hole.
- 1:11:23Don't even like whole subculture, you know, with with
- 1:11:26YouTube regarding that, especially if you get into like
- 1:11:29the, you know, the mr. Medic.
- 1:11:31Her type characters or, you know, things like that.
- 1:11:35That's you know, corporate media just doesn't know how to I
- 1:11:39guess. Respond to that type of thing
- 1:11:43anymore. Yeah, and if you know, if you're
- 1:11:46like the job of a of a trained critical theorist is to change
- 1:11:52the world, everywhere you go. Go.
- 1:11:53You know, that's why it's everywhere because it's like
- 1:11:55when they send you off in the world, now you're on this
- 1:11:58mission to remake the world in our image.
- 1:12:00That's your that's your goals. What you have to do.
- 1:12:02So when she I think that's what she's set off to do.
- 1:12:07That's her job like she's not going to miss an opportunity to
- 1:12:10correct a group full of men who you know, had the audacity to
- 1:12:14say something sexual out loud or even in a YouTube chat, you
- 1:12:18know, and I have no idea what was said, I'm sure it was
- 1:12:22probably you know, probably Callus stuff probably mostly
- 1:12:24just a good. This chick isn't sexy because
- 1:12:27she made a point about saying on the Brad Pitt of lesbians.
- 1:12:32That's something she said about herself which is just like Brad
- 1:12:37Pitt. Wouldn't say that about
- 1:12:38yourself. The funny thing about that too
- 1:12:42is like I actually I actually no actually no some lesbians.
- 1:12:47I'm like so I take is one of them and I like you know, hey
- 1:12:52well I guess Do you think, do you think and do you think that
- 1:12:55this, you know, woman is attractive and she's like oh
- 1:12:58she's like oh God. Oh God.
- 1:13:01No. So I mean like yeah it's just
- 1:13:06maybe like You know, maybe like, maybe like Butch let was beings
- 1:13:11but like, you know, just like, but like I know, like, I know
- 1:13:15people that are, you know, even in that, you know, I'm putting
- 1:13:19in parentheses like, in that group.
- 1:13:22So to speak that, we're like, What like why are you dragging?
- 1:13:25Me means of this whole whole thing.
- 1:13:28It, you know, it's and like it's not like the thing is like she's
- 1:13:32not. She's not really that
- 1:13:34attractive, but the thing is she wasn't dressed.
- 1:13:38Like she was trying to be. She had like a big hoodie on and
- 1:13:41like her neck was covered. Like she look like she was
- 1:13:43dressed like a dude. So when people say you're not
- 1:13:46attractive, why do you care? You're not even trying to be
- 1:13:49attractive. Who gives a shit?
- 1:13:52Well, Sid what it? Why do you take that?
- 1:13:54So personally yyy-yes obviously not part of your identity.
- 1:13:57So what's the big deal? Yeah, it's it.
- 1:14:00Well it's like same thing with me like I'm in a wheelchair and
- 1:14:05you know the left is one of two thing things from the right, you
- 1:14:09know, these critical therapy play, they either go, you know,
- 1:14:12you're in a wheelchair and I feel I feel sorry for you or you
- 1:14:16know that use like the stain playing.
- 1:14:17I like I'm like oh I'm like, I'm like, okay.
- 1:14:24So what you're saying, you're in a wheelchair?
- 1:14:26I didn't know that. Yeah, I mean, I, you know, I
- 1:14:29don't bring it up too much, but, you know, because it's not, it's
- 1:14:33not that big of a deal to me, but yeah, I have cerebral palsy
- 1:14:38and you know, it's just, it's just a thing.
- 1:14:41It's not my identity which is, I was just going to ask you about
- 1:14:45that. What's your thoughts on ableism
- 1:14:47studies? Oh God.
- 1:14:50Yeah, the the ableism shit. It is, it's funny because this
- 1:14:58whole thing with like being differently, abled, that's their
- 1:15:01new term, like you're not disabled your differently abled.
- 1:15:05And I'm like, okay well, what does that mean?
- 1:15:08Because we all have we all have different abilities.
- 1:15:12If you think about like I can't do like I can't draw for shit.
- 1:15:20But evil Eric, one of my mods using the chat is a terrific
- 1:15:23artist. He's one of the, yeah, he'll
- 1:15:25able Eric. He's the one who did the logo
- 1:15:29for the show. So you know that's an ability of
- 1:15:32it. He has the I don't, I can I can
- 1:15:35do really good audio and video production, you know, some
- 1:15:39people can't do that. You know, we all have different
- 1:15:43abilities and whatnot but you know what I have is clearly a
- 1:15:48disability physical. Lee, I need help with that.
- 1:15:51I have no, I have no shame in saying that.
- 1:15:54But to say that, you know, me being disabled or me being
- 1:15:57crippled, I use that word. A lot to the say that, you know,
- 1:16:01that bad or I use that word, it's like okay, fuck you you're
- 1:16:07not me first off and be it's like, why are you getting
- 1:16:11offended? Why are you getting more
- 1:16:14offended at my situation? Then I am It's interesting and
- 1:16:22that's what yeah, that's like another that's like a whole
- 1:16:24nother thing. Like, you know, the whole, the
- 1:16:27whole critical theory thing like I said, I don't bring up a lot,
- 1:16:30but whenever I, but whenever I do bring it up, it confuses the,
- 1:16:35the woke people, a lot trips him up because it's like, well, here
- 1:16:38I am. I'm a guy in a wheelchair and I
- 1:16:40vote of trump. It's like, they don't know what
- 1:16:42to do, dude. That's it was interesting angle,
- 1:16:44man. I don't know if you have.
- 1:16:47I haven't gone over all your channel but But you addressing
- 1:16:51ableism studies. I think it's got the potential
- 1:16:53to get a lot of views because it's very interesting angle here
- 1:16:56in hearing it from you. Yeah I'm I am going to address
- 1:17:00it more. I haven't part of the thing with
- 1:17:02the whole ableism thing is I haven't read I haven't read a
- 1:17:05lot of it, just because I think I think I would either need like
- 1:17:10I think I would either need it need a loaded gun or a lot of
- 1:17:13whiskey in order to read through some of the stuff I have read
- 1:17:17through is just like Comedic late bad?
- 1:17:21Yeah, yeah, it's horrible. I have a, I have a friend who
- 1:17:25went to Penn State and I actually wanted to him on the
- 1:17:29show because he isn't it. He's a guy who's able bodied but
- 1:17:32he was required to take one of those disability awareness
- 1:17:38classes. And so I'm gonna have a monsoon
- 1:17:42and just like pick his brain. Like okay.
- 1:17:44So what did they what did they teach you?
- 1:17:47Like, what was that whole thing like especially at Penn State
- 1:17:50where it's you know, Roy big and it's a major university because
- 1:17:55like, you know, I've lived, you know, with the disability but
- 1:17:59I'm not I've never studied it like a can like academically
- 1:18:04Quantico side. I have no idea what they're what
- 1:18:07they're saying. There's a great chapter in
- 1:18:10Senegal theories About that. Because that was really the
- 1:18:13first. I'd ever gotten to understand it
- 1:18:16so because I don't know if you're aware of this but like
- 1:18:18there's kind of like this Tick Tock Trend where people sort of
- 1:18:22invent having like a disability or they lean into some kind of
- 1:18:25quirky. Yeah, so you've seen some of
- 1:18:28that and I after reading that book I was like, oh that's
- 1:18:32probably a symptom of these ableism thing because it's what
- 1:18:37they do is they sort of fold it into intersectional ISM right
- 1:18:40where Like the amount of reasons your, the matter of
- 1:18:43characteristics, you have that are not, you know, the
- 1:18:47foundational one, which is, you know, straight white Christian
- 1:18:50men. The amount of those is the
- 1:18:52amount of Oppression you face in your life.
- 1:18:55So, do you have more Social Power and their new hierarchy,
- 1:18:58right? So they started to make that
- 1:19:01able as one of them. Yeah, I bad thing.
- 1:19:05Yeah, I understand, yeah, I understand that aspect of the
- 1:19:09whole, you know? Critical theory thing like the
- 1:19:13more the more boxes you check the more I press and it's funny
- 1:19:19because like my mama always says well well thank you.
- 1:19:22Well thank God, you're handicapped.
- 1:19:23Because if you were like completely animals completely,
- 1:19:27you know, white and you're straight, you know, you'd be,
- 1:19:30you'd be fucking it's like, well I only I'm only one out of
- 1:19:34those, one of those categories. So what's your Republic?
- 1:19:38And I think that brings you right back.
- 1:19:39Yeah, I'm Yeah, I'm still I'm a I'm a Republican and I also like
- 1:19:46I have an app I have an after show called the tip Field Report
- 1:19:49to I like I like big tits. So you know I'm also a
- 1:19:54misogynist on top of. Oh yeah that's it.
- 1:19:57You're done. Everything else.
- 1:19:59Oh yeah. But yeah this this whole thing
- 1:20:03with, you know, identity politics is just absurd.
- 1:20:07And you know like I find that you know like with the whole
- 1:20:15thing with like comic books and whatnot like that whole thing
- 1:20:17has gotten corrupted to which I didn't think it would and
- 1:20:20Ashley, but it's a hobby me, you know, it's a relatively obscure
- 1:20:26hobby, I mean, it was a pretty big industry but, you know, just
- 1:20:29the books themselves like I don't know how many people like
- 1:20:34in my personal life that I don't know, from YouTube, actively,
- 1:20:37read Comics, I can't even maybe one I could think of one friend
- 1:20:40who does. Other than that, I don't really
- 1:20:43know anybody but the fact that it got infiltrated so
- 1:20:46aggressively and basically the entire industry became you know
- 1:20:51woke talking points. It's it's really it's shocking.
- 1:20:56Like when I got into this YouTube thing like I knew movies
- 1:20:59and stuff had already gotten there, but hearing from Gary and
- 1:21:02all these in comics division in these guys talk about the
- 1:21:05corruption of the comic energy that blew my mind.
- 1:21:08I had no idea that was going on. Yeah.
- 1:21:12Yeah, I had I had collected Comics up and really up until I
- 1:21:16was in the high school and then I and then I just ran out of
- 1:21:19space. Basically, you know, for all the
- 1:21:22car, a lot of them are actually. I don't know if you can see in
- 1:21:26my friend, a lot of them are kind of in the background.
- 1:21:30Yeah, yeah. But like but yeah, by my
- 1:21:32bookshelf. Those are you know though a lot
- 1:21:35of those are, you know, novels and then just grab novels and
- 1:21:39Comics kind of there, but cool. Yeah.
- 1:21:42So I mean, I stopped it's kind of interesting because around
- 1:21:46hon, I stopped collecting was around the time that everything
- 1:21:50started to change, you know, in the comic book industry itself
- 1:21:55and I know, and I know that there's gamergate and I know
- 1:21:59there that there was also Comics gay as well.
- 1:22:03But it's, You know, it's it's it's interesting to say the
- 1:22:09least, I'm looking at JP Santi calling me a nerd.
- 1:22:13Roddick simp. Yes, very much so II seem hard
- 1:22:17for Gary. He's been on my channel.
- 1:22:19Yeah, I'm Ivy Ivan. Yeah, I've been called a, I've
- 1:22:23been called a nerd roddick's, him as well.
- 1:22:27It is what it is. I love the guy.
- 1:22:29He, I went out to the Meetup in Vegas and, you know, I he's
- 1:22:34great, he's a great guy. I mean, I'm a huge fan of the
- 1:22:36guy I love is I love his content.
- 1:22:38I think he's a good person and I, you know, he's done a lot for
- 1:22:41me personally, on the channel just coming by last year, to
- 1:22:45talk about the expanse this year, to talk about the expanse.
- 1:22:47And one time on the culture crime fighter's, and all those
- 1:22:50are incredibly. Well, watched videos for me and
- 1:22:53got my subscribers way up. And, furthermore, I had a video
- 1:22:57go viral last year, I guess I was earlier this year.
- 1:23:00No, yeah, it was 20 21. It was about the Bill Bird Gina
- 1:23:05Carano. Nah, nothing.
- 1:23:06Do you remember that whole controversy?
- 1:23:08I remember, I remember the whole thing with, I remember I
- 1:23:14remember when Gina got canceled herself but but oh, was it was
- 1:23:20that when they took down like Bill Burrs at action figure or
- 1:23:23something? Because, he stood for Gina, I
- 1:23:26don't remember no swell the for what happened with me was.
- 1:23:30So after Gina Carano got fired from from the Mandalorian, you
- 1:23:34know, people were wondering. Gwen is Bill Burr or any of
- 1:23:37these people from the show, going to come out and say
- 1:23:39anything and we didn't hear anything.
- 1:23:41And one night, I was listening to this podcast, the bill Bert
- 1:23:44podcast and it was Bill Burr, and Bert Kreischer.
- 1:23:47And I was listening to it. And all the sudden I hear them
- 1:23:50talking about this, this this thing where like birds
- 1:23:53essentially addressing it and I'm like, I don't think anyone
- 1:23:56knows that he's talked about this.
- 1:23:58So I just quickly cut up a video, it's about 10 or 12
- 1:24:01minutes long and I put it out. And it did pretty well.
- 1:24:06Initially it got like two thousand or so views, 3,000 or
- 1:24:09so views over the weekend which was like great for me.
- 1:24:13But then Monday night, I guess what happened was the video.
- 1:24:19I think what happened was the video got saw by somebody who
- 1:24:22was a fan of Midnight's Edge and then they told Midnight's Edge.
- 1:24:27What was reported? And then they put out a video
- 1:24:30explaining Bill Burrs response to the whole thing and that
- 1:24:34video I went you know, Through the roof like 400,000 views or
- 1:24:37something like that. And meanwhile, I'm sitting here,
- 1:24:40like I kind of broke that story on Friday.
- 1:24:43It's Sunday, I'm not getting any credit and for this A Channel Of
- 1:24:46My Size, it would have been really nice to have gotten
- 1:24:49Credit. Now meanwhile the video started
- 1:24:52to do really well might like it now sits at something like a
- 1:24:54hundred and thirty-five thousand views but it wasn't doing that
- 1:24:59great. And Gary from nerd, Roddick took
- 1:25:01it upon himself twice once on the nooner.
- 1:25:05To mention that I was the one who put the story out first and
- 1:25:08then again on Friday Night Tykes when there was something like
- 1:25:118,000 people watching and when he mentioned that that's an all
- 1:25:15these people to my channel and it put me over 1,000 and got me
- 1:25:17monetize. So yes JP Santi.
- 1:25:20I am neurotic simply because he has been a saint to me.
- 1:25:24Love that guy. Yeah, well JP Sandy is is one of
- 1:25:29our lovable trolls that we have here you are because under
- 1:25:32multiple accounts and But, you know, you had, you have five
- 1:25:37accounts so that's five more viewers for me.
- 1:25:40So hey, so thank you. Thanks for the traction JP.
- 1:25:44But yeah, that's the other thing I wanted to ask, ask you about
- 1:25:50is as as a YouTuber, I find this whole thing with the way YouTube
- 1:25:58is set up. I've got to say, I mean, clearly
- 1:26:04the system is somewhat broken, but it seems like unless you
- 1:26:09have like a thousand subs and even then, like in the west, you
- 1:26:16really are on top of the algorithm and producing videos
- 1:26:20every single day, which you know, I don't know how anyone
- 1:26:24has time for that. What, you know, if you have like
- 1:26:26a full time job or Something like that.
- 1:26:29I honestly you know good for Garin good for Midnight's edge
- 1:26:33of, you know, if they can do that daily.
- 1:26:35But I just don't see how unless you commit, you know, to fully
- 1:26:40how you can even get into the algorithm really do.
- 1:26:44I don't know. Yeah, like I said, I mean most
- 1:26:47of my growth has been directly because Gary came to the channel
- 1:26:51and you know he gave me credit. Now granted I did have you know
- 1:26:54that one viral video that got me a lot of Subs I mean 100 130
- 1:26:57thousand views. Hot story.
- 1:26:59You know, people came and subscribed and you know some of
- 1:27:02those people are in my chat every single day and that's why
- 1:27:05don't, you know, I'm not obviously I put in work but you
- 1:27:10have an as far as that I really don't know.
- 1:27:12I've been rethinking my channel a lot of of late because you
- 1:27:16know I was kind of doing the thing where I'm chasing the
- 1:27:18story. You know, the weekly story and
- 1:27:20I'll make a 10-minute video about it to try to get some eyes
- 1:27:23on it. But a like, there's guys like
- 1:27:26Gary out there who are doing it better than me.
- 1:27:28And B, I kind of started to feel like a whore, like, I kind of
- 1:27:31started to feel like, I'm just doing this to, like, I have
- 1:27:34thoughts on it, but I'm just doing it to get eyes on the
- 1:27:36channel. And it's not really what I want
- 1:27:38to tell, you know, I don't know. So I've just been kind of
- 1:27:40thinking about, I don't know rethinking and I honestly, I
- 1:27:43don't have any answers for you man.
- 1:27:44I wish I did. I would my thought at least my
- 1:27:48philosophy on YouTube right now. Is it just try to have as much
- 1:27:52fun as possible? Yeah.
- 1:27:53And literally just treat it like that and, you know, not to say
- 1:27:56that means I don't work hard but it's I'm going to do what I want
- 1:27:59to do here and I'm going to have fun.
- 1:28:02And that's, I mean that's already paying off for me
- 1:28:05emotionally and spiritually. Like, I just feel like a happier
- 1:28:07person doing this. I don't feel trapped under the
- 1:28:10wheels of the YouTube Monster, but I would, I don't know, man.
- 1:28:15Just do what makes you happy do, it makes you feel good and
- 1:28:17hopefully other people respond to it in that that's always kind
- 1:28:21of been my attitude as well. I mean like, like like I said,
- 1:28:25I've been, you know, podcasting for Or, you know several years,
- 1:28:30it's awesome. It's awesome.
- 1:28:31Interesting. Because, you know, with this
- 1:28:33this whole thing with the livestream, people forget, it's
- 1:28:36still relatively new and, you know, I must work better in the
- 1:28:39long form, you know, format? Then I do, you know,
- 1:28:44pre-recording, you know, short like tenet minute videos because
- 1:28:48then like, I always I always end up spending more, time editing
- 1:28:51though. Yeah, you do, you do what?
- 1:28:53Not then, but then I do differences if you think about
- 1:28:56the audience, And I because I know this about myself, I'd be
- 1:29:00more willing to take a risk on a short video of someone.
- 1:29:02I don't know that to our podcast.
- 1:29:05Yeah. So, that's your basically kind
- 1:29:07of inviting people to see what you're about.
- 1:29:11You know? I mean, like, here's a snippet
- 1:29:12of what you can get, if you kind of start hanging out with me
- 1:29:15online. I mean, that's the best thing I
- 1:29:17can interpret it, you know, I, well, I what I like to think of
- 1:29:20it. I try to encourage vigilante to
- 1:29:21do the videos too, because his growth isn't really grown much,
- 1:29:24you know, and I, but he's such a great voice.
- 1:29:26Like, I love him so much. Just take what I advised him to
- 1:29:29do. Is I do just take take late.
- 1:29:31You know, when we do the show and you have a take about
- 1:29:33something, just take that one take and make that a video.
- 1:29:37You know what I mean? Separate from the podcast and
- 1:29:40and see if that go if that will gain some traction.
- 1:29:42Because eventually something will click.
- 1:29:44I put out two videos that somehow it worked, you know, one
- 1:29:48about the expanse. Getting cancelled that's got
- 1:29:50like 50,000 views in the birthing now granted.
- 1:29:52I don't have a lot of follow-up to that but it still caught some
- 1:29:55kind of something. You know what I mean?
- 1:29:56With the audience, So yeah, you know, I don't know, man.
- 1:29:59It's like a kind of alchemy, you know, the well, the other thing
- 1:30:02too is and, you know, again, I think thing you're saying, I
- 1:30:06guess my mic moment with YouTube is kind of that they kind of
- 1:30:10want to pigeonhole. You seemed like just how the
- 1:30:13system is set up where I was. Like I cover a lot of different
- 1:30:17things on the channel. You know, I cover news and
- 1:30:20politics but then I also cover pop culture and whatnot.
- 1:30:23I don't want to say I do what Jeremy does with geeks and
- 1:30:27gamers. But you know, I'm kind of, you
- 1:30:30know, I'm all over the place. I just don't, I just don't want
- 1:30:32to start up like five different channels for a given topic
- 1:30:36because, you know, those are, you know, those that can be
- 1:30:41tired Rasta managed. Yeah, yeah, those but I, you
- 1:30:47know, I find that You know, just YouTube kind of in it in it of
- 1:30:51itself, you know. It's it's interesting because
- 1:30:55like you said, you'll hit one video that like gets like a lot
- 1:30:59of use and then, you know, you make like a really good video
- 1:31:05and then it'll just get like 20 views or something.
- 1:31:09It's not my god dude, I put in. I made a video about Peter
- 1:31:12Dinklage last week and I put it. I put in a lot of editing work
- 1:31:15on that, like probably more than I should have, and it's sitting
- 1:31:18there like 60 views and see ya, no traction at all.
- 1:31:21And I was like, damn it. I thought that was a good video,
- 1:31:23but, you know, it's just kind of it's like anything else.
- 1:31:27You just gotta get up, you gotta do it.
- 1:31:29It's like, you know, any other practice, but it's meditation or
- 1:31:32yoga or going to the gym whatever.
- 1:31:35It's like you just keep doing it, you know.
- 1:31:37Like it's you're not gonna like it's not like you're going to
- 1:31:41get the results today. The first day you do it or even
- 1:31:44a hundred that you do it, you got to make it a life practice
- 1:31:47and then that is is I'm to me that seems to be the only system
- 1:31:50that works. I'm saying this.
- 1:31:51Like I know I don't know but that's what metal makes sense to
- 1:31:54me. Yeah well you know and for me
- 1:31:57like I think the other thing that happens a lot is like all
- 1:32:01post a video that you know that will just be like sitting
- 1:32:06stinging that won't do anything and then that same video will
- 1:32:08blow up like months and months and months and months later to
- 1:32:12that. That's the that's the other
- 1:32:14weird thing like yeah like I'm a I made a video and this One of
- 1:32:19my like my first big I guess controversial moments was back
- 1:32:23when the whole Louis c.k. thing happened.
- 1:32:26I was one of the YouTubers and said you know hey I'm still a
- 1:32:32fan of Lucy K, you know? I don't really think.
- 1:32:36I don't really think he did anything wrong and comparison to
- 1:32:39like, Harvey Weinstein and whatnot.
- 1:32:41So why are we why are we canceling him?
- 1:32:44Well, that video? It's kind of sat there for I
- 1:32:49guess like three, four months and then all of a sudden and it
- 1:32:55blew up. And, and a lot of more people
- 1:32:57like, oh, you're, you know, a lot of was just hate con saying
- 1:33:01like, oh, you're defending lose behavior and it's like, man,
- 1:33:07not. I mean partially, because he did
- 1:33:09ask for consent, but also not really, I'm just saying that he
- 1:33:14shouldn't be be banned from. You know, entertainment forever,
- 1:33:19he should be given a second chance because he's not Harvey
- 1:33:22Weinstein. Yeah, note also, the whole Louis
- 1:33:25thing was way blown out of proportion is just so
- 1:33:28exaggerated as to like what he did versus I think but you know
- 1:33:33what they were talking about earlier man, he apologized and
- 1:33:35that just added to the fire, it didn't help at all.
- 1:33:37It just made him look worse and that's the issue.
- 1:33:41But hey man I got to get going. It's I got a I got a wrap-up
- 1:33:45have yeah, no yeah no problem man.
- 1:33:47So Anyway, well, with that in mind, where can people find you
