- 0:19Speaker 2: I was totally were pink slips because I actually literally
- 0:22Speaker 2: have pink slips from Satury Night Live and The Letterman Show.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I meant to hear people say I have a drawer
- 0:28Speaker 2: full of pink slips. When I was looking for.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Jobs, Mike was in charge of handing out the pink slups.
- 0:32Speaker 4: That's that's that's probably pretty.
- 0:34Speaker 3: He was crushing dreams, not chasing them.
- 0:36Speaker 5: To imagine if like Paul just loves this stretch guy,
- 0:38Speaker 5: Like this stretch guy is just like killing every situational thing,
- 0:41Speaker 5: Like no, no, they're pulling out like these like random
- 0:44Speaker 5: weird like they took a penalty, but.
- 0:45Speaker 3: It was the right thing to do, and balls like
- 0:47Speaker 3: this guy's the best thirty three seconds left, you know,
- 0:50Speaker 3: first and ten from the twelve. No need to spike here,
- 0:52Speaker 3: right yeah, no, no, no, right, I agree, you're.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Just sitting there job no, no, no, kiss. You can
- 0:58Speaker 2: hire him as one of your professors. What's my motivation?
- 1:01Speaker 2: According to Paul Parrella, Jared.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Goff had a bad game in a big stage, so
- 1:05Speaker 3: he can never recover from that, right right, thank you?
- 1:09Speaker 2: He was never that good.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Let me know who else you need me to analyze?
- 1:12Speaker 6: Itsary the Patriots for thirty years and you put up
- 1:15Speaker 6: with a complete nonsense.
- 1:17Speaker 7: I mean, we put too.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Ah right, all right, this is Patriots Unfiltered.

- 1:31Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:35Speaker 2: at Jillette Stadium. Paul, it's Deuce, it's me. It's Matt Nabooth.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Evan is down at the Senior Ball with his reporting
- 1:44Speaker 2: hat on. He's got his little press ticket.
- 1:46Speaker 3: A lot of goings on down there.
- 1:47Speaker 2: In the sash of his fedora.
- 1:49Speaker 4: What is the saying pig in s h e.
- 1:51Speaker 3: That's what he is right now, sugar honey.
- 1:54Speaker 2: He's loving life right now. So we'll be getting uh
- 1:58Speaker 2: stuff from him on Patriots dot com later on today
- 2:00Speaker 2: and as well as video. We'll be getting that on
- 2:03Speaker 2: patriot dot com and our social Uh so we're well
- 2:06Speaker 2: represented down in the Senior Bowl. Vabel's there, Elliott Wolf
- 2:10Speaker 2: is there. Ryan Cowden's there, scouts are there, we're doing
- 2:14Speaker 2: our doing our off season work.
- 2:16Speaker 3: So it begins just it started. It started, yep, argument.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Any notes from No Socks? Was he on?
- 2:23Speaker 5: He was on the road the Shrine Bowl first too.
- 2:27Speaker 2: They started at the Shrine Bowl, made their way over
- 2:30Speaker 2: to Mobile. So we're going to see the next great Patriots.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Right, I hope.
- 2:35Speaker 2: So, so we're going to talk about that. We'll talk about,
- 2:38Speaker 2: you know, the draft a little bit in these prospects,
- 2:41Speaker 2: but we also want to talk about the championship games
- 2:44Speaker 2: over the weekend. I'm sure we all have opinions on
- 2:47Speaker 2: those and opinions on who made it to the Super Bowl.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I'm forced to root for the Eagles.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Now, yeah, it's tough.
- 2:55Speaker 2: It's tough for you, it is.
- 2:57Speaker 4: I could do it root for the Eagles. I don't know.
- 2:59Speaker 5: I just want to see a competitive, good game. I
- 3:01Speaker 5: don't know if I I know, but.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I have to. I have to. I agree with Fred.
- 3:06Speaker 2: You know, I can't just watch without a dog in
- 3:08Speaker 2: the fight.
- 3:09Speaker 4: And you can't gamble, so you know you.
- 3:11Speaker 3: No, I do have an ambition to make. I agree
- 3:14Speaker 3: wholeheardly with Fred. I have a very hard time just
- 3:16Speaker 3: watching a game and not rooting for somebody. But when
- 3:19Speaker 3: I really don't care going into the game and then
- 3:23Speaker 3: you start rooting, I've often you know, changed it during
- 3:26Speaker 3: the game.
- 3:26Speaker 2: During the game, Oh yeah, now they're behind, Now I
- 3:28Speaker 2: want them to, right.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Or something happens that I think is to you know,
- 3:33Speaker 3: coin a phrase from the weekend, a palpably unfair act.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Right now, now I start rooting for the team that's
- 3:38Speaker 3: getting screwed by the refs or something like that. Right,
- 3:41Speaker 3: So I have changed allegiances in the middle of the
- 3:43Speaker 3: game that I don't really care about.
- 3:45Speaker 2: But I am I am, you know, willingly admitting that
- 3:50Speaker 2: I'm rooting for the Eagles to win just because I
- 3:53Speaker 2: don't want the Chiefs to win three in a row
- 3:56Speaker 2: to take anything away from the Patriots dynasty.
- 3:59Speaker 3: If it's perfect sense that can do that.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Said, I'm also fully appreciative and acknowledged the greatness of
- 4:07Speaker 2: the Chiefs. I'm not diminishing what they're doing in any way.
- 4:13Speaker 3: I just like that you would admit why you're reading
- 4:15Speaker 3: against Kansas City, and I think a lot of people don't. Yeah,
- 4:19Speaker 3: but but.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I'm not like, I'm not like, well, you know, they're
- 4:23Speaker 2: doing it a different way or you know, Mahomes is
- 4:25Speaker 2: this or read is that.
- 4:27Speaker 3: It's a lot of difference, a lot of difference. They
- 4:28Speaker 3: are absolutely great and there's a lot of similarity, right, and.
- 4:31Speaker 2: They deserve everything that they're getting. I fully admit that
- 4:35Speaker 2: that said, I want them to lose.
- 4:37Speaker 5: It's Patrick Mahomes, like Tom Brady is a killer. I mean,
- 4:41Speaker 5: those two guys cold blooded killer and you just knew.
- 4:43Speaker 5: And I thought a little bit about Drake May and
- 4:45Speaker 5: it's such an unknown quantity for any quarterback in the
- 4:48Speaker 5: league that comes in, Like guys are good, like Drake
- 4:50Speaker 5: May has all the talent, but you just can't predict
- 4:53Speaker 5: which guys at the end of the game go berserker
- 4:57Speaker 5: mode and are unstoppable. And I was saying that throughout
- 4:59Speaker 5: that whole Kansas City game. It's like, don't give him
- 5:01Speaker 5: a chance at the end, don't you know they when
- 5:03Speaker 5: they had a chance to go up by like eight points,
- 5:05Speaker 5: you know at that at that last drive there, not
- 5:07Speaker 5: last drive, but second last drive, Like you gotta do it, now,
- 5:10Speaker 5: you gotta do it. You got to put him away,
- 5:12Speaker 5: just like you had to put Brady.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Saw Drake May on my television set last night.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Yeah, he was that that was a tpl.
- 5:18Speaker 3: I don't know what it's like indoor golf. Ventures Yeah,
- 5:22Speaker 3: it's it's tough. It's a tough watch. And I like,
- 5:25Speaker 3: I like watching golf. I don't mind watching golf on TV.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I don't want to watch golf indoor golf.
- 5:30Speaker 5: Yeah, you don't even like to play indoor golf?
- 5:32Speaker 3: Really from the well, I'm not, I'm not, but they
- 5:35Speaker 3: would say, good, I'm not good at indoor or outdoor.
- 5:39Speaker 3: I enjoy playing outdoors.
- 5:40Speaker 5: He was telling me about his fade, and it just
- 5:42Speaker 5: doesn't translate to the video golf.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Well. One of the great things about watching like golf
- 5:46Speaker 2: on a real golf course is that the broadcast is
- 5:49Speaker 2: going back, and you know, you're always someone's always hitting,
- 5:52Speaker 2: and they're always hitting from a different situation. This thing
- 5:56Speaker 2: is okay, now it's his turn to hit. Now it's
- 5:57Speaker 2: his turn to hit. It's it's not interesting. It's like
- 6:00Speaker 2: you said, it's a tough wall.
- 6:01Speaker 3: It's a tough wat.
- 6:01Speaker 2: And I watched the first one the whole way through.
- 6:04Speaker 3: It's not like I watched, did you really?
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 6:06Speaker 3: I gave it a shot and they said, that's why
- 6:08Speaker 3: you're the tzarre of all media.
- 6:10Speaker 2: But I truly gave it a chance. Now I only
- 6:13Speaker 2: watched one episode. Okay, it's fine, but I was not
- 6:16Speaker 2: compelled in the least.
- 6:18Speaker 3: I watched a little last night. Now you have Tiger
- 6:20Speaker 3: and Rory McElroy last night, and it's still doesn't really
- 6:24Speaker 3: draw you in. But but Drake may was there and
- 6:27Speaker 3: they interviewed him real quick. I mean nothing.
- 6:30Speaker 5: How did the prose feel about it? Like, I feel
- 6:31Speaker 5: like they put it through the screen. They hit the
- 6:33Speaker 5: ball so hard, Like is it I mean, I don't know.
- 6:35Speaker 5: It seems like indoor golf scenes fine for like guys
- 6:37Speaker 5: who are out there hacking, but like, really.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Way this, I wouldn't mind trying to play oh style
- 6:42Speaker 3: of indoor golf that they're playing. So they it's it's
- 6:44Speaker 3: a longer hit into the screen, and then you kind
- 6:48Speaker 3: of play out of like lies that you know you
- 6:51Speaker 3: can get it. You can hit it into the sand,
- 6:52Speaker 3: you can put it on the green. You're actually putting
- 6:55Speaker 3: on a green.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Once you get to the you're on a green.
- 6:58Speaker 4: And they changed area.
- 7:00Speaker 5: There's some kind of sand element to the Yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Water, No, I didn't see water.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Water would be in the simulator.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Yeah, forget there, you go. Good Matt. But anyway, anyway
- 7:12Speaker 2: back to football.
- 7:13Speaker 3: So we do have some additions to the coaching staff,
- 7:15Speaker 3: and Mike's gonna break out his readers.
- 7:16Speaker 2: I don't.
- 7:17Speaker 4: I didn't bring my readers.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Now. In terms of other than the coordinators, nothing's been
- 7:20Speaker 2: officially reported.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Yet, that is correct.
- 7:24Speaker 5: I don't you think the actual like and it's hard
- 7:26Speaker 5: to really discern what positions the guys are coaching, and
- 7:28Speaker 5: I think we're kind of guessing at this.
- 7:30Speaker 3: We're guessing on a lot. Some of them have been
- 7:32Speaker 3: kind of reported. But to your point, Fred, nothing has
- 7:35Speaker 3: been official from the organization other than the three coordinators
- 7:39Speaker 3: that we talked.
- 7:40Speaker 2: These reports from from legitimate source.
- 7:42Speaker 3: I am very excited about one of the with that one.
- 7:45Speaker 3: You go ahead and read that one.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Well, I'll just go down the list here.
- 7:48Speaker 5: Of course, Josh McDaniel's on the offensive side of the ball.
- 7:51Speaker 5: I believe Ashton Grant belief quarterbacks coach.
- 7:54Speaker 4: This is speculation now.
- 7:55Speaker 5: Riley Larkin from Ohio State is the maybe offensive assistant
- 7:58Speaker 5: quarterbacks Doug mar his offensive line Jason, I'm going to
- 8:03Speaker 5: mess this name up, Hoteiling. I believe offensive assistant.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Totally totally.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Thomas Brown.
- 8:10Speaker 5: Interesting one from the bear.
- 8:12Speaker 3: We talked about him last week.
- 8:13Speaker 5: Tight ends and passing game coordinator as the speculation, and
- 8:16Speaker 5: Tony Dues as the running backs coach. Then over on
- 8:19Speaker 5: the defensive side of the ball, of course, Terrell Williams
- 8:22Speaker 5: uh Clint McMillan believed to be the defensive line coach,
- 8:24Speaker 5: Milton Patterson believed inside linebackers, Zach Kerr outside linebackers, and
- 8:29Speaker 5: Kevin Richardson believed him to be the cornerbacks coach. And
- 8:32Speaker 5: lastly just Jeremy Springer course back and Tom Quinn back.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Those were the two guys that Mike has a.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Lot of position, yes, and that's the speculation on that
- 8:41Speaker 5: is Frank Perino, who was with Mike Vrabel down in Tennessee.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Mike has some speculation on positions that I haven't really
- 8:48Speaker 3: even seen yet two sets. Addition, the one guy that
- 8:51Speaker 3: stands out to me is Maron. I think, first of all,
- 8:55Speaker 3: has some experience seven years as a head coach, had
- 8:58Speaker 3: some success as a head coach in Jacksonville, but his
- 9:02Speaker 3: reputation as an offensive line coach is really strong, and
- 9:05Speaker 3: I think that's an important position Patriots. This will be
- 9:08Speaker 3: the seventh offensive line coach in the last seven years,
- 9:11Speaker 3: going back to the last year of Dante. So I
- 9:14Speaker 3: think it's a it's a position that really needs a critical,
- 9:17Speaker 3: a strong hand. So I am mostly I mean, that's
- 9:23Speaker 3: the higher that I'm most excited about period, Counting the coordinator.
- 9:26Speaker 5: I'm just interested if he is getting some kind of
- 9:28Speaker 5: like associate head.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Coach, assuming that he's the offensive line coach. If it's
- 9:31Speaker 3: just that, if it's like senior assistant assistant head coach,
- 9:35Speaker 3: I'm not any way, it was excited about it. Yeah,
- 9:37Speaker 3: if he's the offensive line coach.
- 9:38Speaker 2: I want someone down in the trenches with them at practice,
- 9:42Speaker 2: working on technique, working on communication, Motivating these guys. Yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 2: that's what they've been from the outcomes. That's what they've
- 9:52Speaker 2: been missing over the last few years. We got we
- 9:55Speaker 2: have to get back to good coaching, good coaching, this
- 9:58Speaker 2: is football.
- 9:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I think a lot of people are excited about it.
- 10:01Speaker 5: Just it's a good cross section of experienced coaches. I mean,
- 10:05Speaker 5: you know, Doug Marome was the head coach obviously. You know,
- 10:08Speaker 5: Thomas brown Is seems very well respected around the league,
- 10:11Speaker 5: and you know, got an opportunity to fill in there
- 10:12Speaker 5: in Chicago for a little bit but you know, also
- 10:14Speaker 5: a lot of young guys who seem to be kind
- 10:16Speaker 5: of up and coming. So I just we talked so
- 10:18Speaker 5: much about the brain drain with Belichick over the final
- 10:21Speaker 5: years and how that staff just thinned out. He didn't
- 10:23Speaker 5: have a lot of places to turn. So I think
- 10:25Speaker 5: the hope is that you're building a pipeline again of
- 10:28Speaker 5: older coaches to mentor these younger coaches, and that you know,
- 10:31Speaker 5: it will really start to rebuild that that system that
- 10:33Speaker 5: was you know, so valuable to continuing the success in
- 10:36Speaker 5: the early twenty tens. I think, you know, when some
- 10:38Speaker 5: of those guys had to you know, like Matt Patricia
- 10:39Speaker 5: goes from you know, assistant to then he becomes the
- 10:42Speaker 5: defensive you know though, that whole thing where they have
- 10:44Speaker 5: a real progression. They don't have to always go looking outside.
- 10:46Speaker 4: But I'm with Paul on.
- 10:48Speaker 3: The offensive line though, just to coach that they've been
- 10:51Speaker 3: lacking amazing, and he has a really strong reputation. I
- 10:55Speaker 3: go off of what people are saying about, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 3: about these guys, like I don't you know, we talked
- 11:01Speaker 3: about this a lot. You we can watch every day
- 11:03Speaker 3: of training camp, and we can watch the coach and
- 11:05Speaker 3: I could watch Dante in Dante's Inferno back in the day.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I don't know if what he's telling him is everything
- 11:10Speaker 3: is the right thing to tell.
- 11:11Speaker 2: But you look at the results, correct, Yeah.
- 11:13Speaker 3: So I know you know this leads to that and
- 11:17Speaker 3: it's positive. So that's what I've heard a lot about
- 11:21Speaker 3: with with Doug Maron is that he's he's an offensive
- 11:24Speaker 3: line guy that really gets results and he's had a
- 11:28Speaker 3: lot of success doing it. His last job in the
- 11:30Speaker 3: NFL was the Saints Saints offensive line coach, so I
- 11:35Speaker 3: really like that hire. The rest of it, I don't
- 11:37Speaker 3: really I'm not going to tell you a good bad
- 11:38Speaker 3: or in different because I don't know enough about I
- 11:40Speaker 3: don't know virtually. The only other name I even ever
- 11:43Speaker 3: heard of was Thomas Brown, and I really only heard
- 11:45Speaker 3: of him because the Patriots interviewed him for the offensive
- 11:48Speaker 3: coordinator job before they officially hired Josh. He's I don't know,
- 11:55Speaker 3: like I like the lineage there, like coming from the
- 11:59Speaker 3: McVeigh tree, but since he's been out of the mcvatre,
- 12:02Speaker 3: he hasn't really done anything, so I don't know. I
- 12:04Speaker 3: don't know what they have.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Then That's that's what I mean.
- 12:05Speaker 5: There is a lot of carryover from a lot of
- 12:07Speaker 5: the different type pants programs. But you know, I just
- 12:10Speaker 5: I'm just glad that it's not We're not running back
- 12:13Speaker 5: with the same kind of Patriots coaches and we're trying
- 12:15Speaker 5: to recreate something Patriots, you know, I'm I mean, frankly,
- 12:18Speaker 5: I'm a little surprised. I thought when Josh came back
- 12:20Speaker 5: that there would be some familiar names coming back, but instead,
- 12:22Speaker 5: it really, you know, feels like they're trying to build
- 12:24Speaker 5: a new staff and do something a little bit different
- 12:26Speaker 5: in something new. So I think a lot of people
- 12:28Speaker 5: are excited about the coaching hires.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I wonder if they are.
- 12:31Speaker 3: I just not really sure why they're as excited as
- 12:35Speaker 3: they are. Like Marone, I think is a home run.
- 12:39Speaker 3: But I think there's a lot of like defensive coordinators
- 12:41Speaker 3: from Florida A and M that evidently are like these
- 12:44Speaker 3: hot commodities. Maybe they I'm not telling you, you're wrong,
- 12:47Speaker 3: I just don't I don't know who these balls. Is
- 12:49Speaker 3: That Milton Patterson I think is the one. I'm not
- 12:52Speaker 3: sure I think that's the one from Florida A and M.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Maybe I'm thinking of a different guy.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I think so.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Yeah, you might be the ball knowers know, but Fred,
- 13:00Speaker 5: I'm not telling you they don't.
- 13:02Speaker 3: This is normally I would be snarky and say, yeah, yeah,
- 13:05Speaker 3: they know, I don't. I don't know.
- 13:08Speaker 5: I think you're seeing something coming from a complete uh
- 13:10Speaker 5: well at least.
- 13:11Speaker 3: People would say, as you always are, a complete thought
- 13:14Speaker 3: of ignorance.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I think you kind of hit it just before what
- 13:18Speaker 2: you said. For fans, I think they're getting comfort seeing
- 13:23Speaker 2: them look outside the dynasty and look outside the names
- 13:28Speaker 2: that we But I.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Kind of tailpipe last year. Last year when it was
- 13:32Speaker 3: you know, like Taylor Embree and you know a bunch
- 13:34Speaker 3: of other TC McCartney and you know, names from other
- 13:37Speaker 3: places that I wasn't overly familiar with their work in
- 13:40Speaker 3: the NFL, and a lot of these kinds of comments
- 13:42Speaker 3: were made. It was nice to nice to break away
- 13:45Speaker 3: from you know, that Belichick tree, except for the you know,
- 13:49Speaker 3: five weeks into the season, everybody's like, none of these
- 13:51Speaker 3: guys know what they're doing. But I don't know, and
- 13:54Speaker 3: I know I still don't know. Then a lot of
- 13:56Speaker 3: people say the McCartney did a nice job, you know,
- 13:58Speaker 3: like I, I don't know. I'm not telling you that
- 14:00Speaker 3: he didn't do a good job.
- 14:02Speaker 5: No, I think you're seeing too Rabel loyalty to a
- 14:05Speaker 5: lot of his younger guys that he had in Tennessee.
- 14:07Speaker 5: So he's, you know, somewhat getting the band back together.
- 14:09Speaker 5: Guys he trusts, certainly with with the defensive coordinator.
- 14:13Speaker 4: You know, guy who's getting.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Had time with him. Uh, how'd you say it? Totaling
- 14:19Speaker 3: hot hot? Okay, he had time. He was an assistant
- 14:22Speaker 3: offensive line coach. I believe in.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Totally, totally, So I believe he was.
- 14:27Speaker 3: An assistant offensive line coach Underbel for a time. So
- 14:32Speaker 3: there are a handful. There was another one I think, well,
- 14:34Speaker 3: the special teams assistant Tom Tom Quinn spent some time
- 14:38Speaker 3: with Rebel. Obviously we talked about Stretch last week. You know,
- 14:42Speaker 3: my guy, I'm excited about Stretch. Good to have a good.
- 14:47Speaker 5: Opposite of what we played in the open Paul being
- 14:49Speaker 5: like Stretch, damn it. You know, like he's going to
- 14:51Speaker 5: be your guy now when they screw up, you know,
- 14:53Speaker 5: situational stuff.
- 14:54Speaker 3: You know, you know, the first game that I disagree
- 14:57Speaker 3: with it, I'm going to be come on, come on,
- 15:00Speaker 3: you're better than that.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Yeah, So rounding out, So that's good but taking care
- 15:05Speaker 2: of business, getting these people in place so they can
- 15:08Speaker 2: start working on twenty twenty five.
- 15:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I just say the receiver coach is when I'm
- 15:12Speaker 5: still interested to see.
- 15:13Speaker 4: I mean, you know, people.
- 15:14Speaker 5: Obviously speculating about Wes Welker. I don't know if that's
- 15:16Speaker 5: the reality or not, but I do think that's another
- 15:19Speaker 5: interesting position for a room that was very disjointed and
- 15:22Speaker 5: that's kind of putting it mildly last year. Love to
- 15:25Speaker 5: have somebody in there that you feel confident can come
- 15:27Speaker 5: in and get those guys in line and maybe get
- 15:29Speaker 5: something out of Jalen Polk and maybe Javon Baker.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Yeah. So then that gets to you know, who they
- 15:36Speaker 2: might pick this year in the draft, and there's a
- 15:38Speaker 2: lot of different mock drafts going around, and the trend
- 15:43Speaker 2: now is to push these quarterbacks down past four. Yeah,
- 15:47Speaker 2: cam Ward, and that would not be good for the Yeah, no,
- 15:50Speaker 2: it is.
- 15:50Speaker 4: Say goodbye, Adail Carter.
- 15:52Speaker 5: I'm just making peace with that, Abdul Carter.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Yeah, no quarterbacks get taken in the top three, that
- 15:57Speaker 3: is bad news for the new end Pager.
- 15:58Speaker 5: I think a lot of people are trying to make
- 15:59Speaker 5: peace with Mason Graham now.
- 16:01Speaker 4: The Michigan kid.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Who Freddy doesn't have to make peace with him.
- 16:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I thought Evan wrote a good piece
- 16:06Speaker 5: just about the defense. I think the defense is really
- 16:08Speaker 5: going to change this year significantly from what it's been
- 16:11Speaker 5: certainly under Bill and last year, to more of you know,
- 16:14Speaker 5: a basic kind of four two five nickel get up
- 16:17Speaker 5: field kind of thing. Evan wrote about it. Doug Kyed
- 16:20Speaker 5: wrote a little bit about it. I think that could
- 16:22Speaker 5: result in some some.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Personalities if teams buy into this whole thing that oh
- 16:27Speaker 2: the top. The teams that are at the top now
- 16:29Speaker 2: aren't going to pick a quarterback. Do you think that
- 16:33Speaker 2: it might promote more trading up for a team that
- 16:35Speaker 2: really does want cam Warder Ye, Sanders.
- 16:38Speaker 3: I think you're absolutely hitting it. I think the reason
- 16:41Speaker 3: why people are probably talking about it, my guess is
- 16:44Speaker 3: those teams are letting everybody know we're open for business.
- 16:47Speaker 3: We're not going to take the quarterback, but if you
- 16:48Speaker 3: want one, right, you know, we'll be looking to trade down.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Just a question how much you like?
- 16:52Speaker 2: Then the question is does anyone want yeah?
- 16:54Speaker 3: Right?
- 16:55Speaker 5: And how far are you willing to go up and
- 16:57Speaker 5: spend or you're willing to come out to four. If
- 16:59Speaker 5: you like Shitar Sanders that much.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it.
- 17:02Speaker 5: It's I don't know, it's an interesting draft here.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Well, the thing is you're not going to come up
- 17:05Speaker 2: to four because they know where well they could if
- 17:08Speaker 2: they think somebody at five would pick a quarterback.
- 17:10Speaker 5: Yeah, but yeah, I mean it's uh, it's always fun.
- 17:13Speaker 5: I mean that's what we'll spend the next couple of
- 17:14Speaker 5: months doing. But I love this time here. I love
- 17:17Speaker 5: I love the draft and all the speculation and you know,
- 17:19Speaker 5: the Senior Bowl. All this stuff is super fun to
- 17:21Speaker 5: watch these kids and it's a big meeting down there,
- 17:24Speaker 5: and you know, the first like big event of the
- 17:25Speaker 5: off season where everybody gets.
- 17:27Speaker 4: To go and talk shops.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I'm sure you know, the backs and shaking hands and
- 17:31Speaker 2: going out to eat. Yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 3: I probably wouldn't be as like enthusiastic about it as Mike,
- 17:37Speaker 3: but I do like what you talked about just now, Like,
- 17:40Speaker 3: oh now it looks like there's no quarterbacks going to
- 17:42Speaker 3: be taken. What is that?
- 17:44Speaker 7: You know?
- 17:44Speaker 3: Like to coin, you know Freddy's phrase that you know,
- 17:48Speaker 3: what are the sharps? No, Like, what does that mean?
- 17:51Speaker 3: I love that cushions? Yeah, I love, but I love
- 17:53Speaker 3: that element because everything at this time of year, all
- 17:57Speaker 3: the way through the end of April when the draft happens,
- 18:00Speaker 3: is to be taken with a grain of salt, right,
- 18:02Speaker 3: because you know, it's a lying season for a reason.
- 18:04Speaker 3: And I find that a lot of fun to sort
- 18:07Speaker 3: of speculate and oh, you know, they're going to take
- 18:09Speaker 3: so and so, Well are they or are they going
- 18:11Speaker 3: to take this guy? Or do they want to move
- 18:14Speaker 3: There's a lot of different things. A lot of the
- 18:16Speaker 3: agents are talking yeah, oh yeah, the teams are this week.
- 18:19Speaker 3: It starts right, you know, the media is the mouthpiece
- 18:22Speaker 3: for the team and a lot of these markets, you know,
- 18:25Speaker 3: including ours, and you have to try to decipher all
- 18:29Speaker 3: the information and decode it.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, And so then you have the games
- 18:34Speaker 2: this weekend. The first one was a bust. I think
- 18:37Speaker 2: it could have been better if the Commanders could have
- 18:39Speaker 2: just held on to the ball. But the Eagles, they
- 18:43Speaker 2: they pounded them.
- 18:44Speaker 3: There's the best the Eagles have looked in a long time.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Putting up fifty five points in a playoff game.
- 18:48Speaker 5: That's you don't see that a lot, no, Jalen Carter,
- 18:50Speaker 5: I mean, unless it was my old Denver Broncos against
- 18:54Speaker 5: whoever in the Super Bowl San Francisco.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Fifty five.
- 18:57Speaker 5: Now, it's a good run I think for Washing And
- 19:00Speaker 5: that's you know, last week, I felt like they were
- 19:01Speaker 5: the darlings of everywhere, and you know that was the
- 19:04Speaker 5: big talking point last year, and the Patriots, you know,
- 19:06Speaker 5: replicate this.
- 19:07Speaker 4: But at the end of the day of Philadelphia.
- 19:09Speaker 5: I think they just they got too much talent and
- 19:11Speaker 5: they're they're playing really well right now.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I think they could give the Chiefs a run, and
- 19:15Speaker 2: I think they could win this game.
- 19:17Speaker 3: On paper, they were a better team. Yeah right, I
- 19:20Speaker 3: mean we just on paper, right right, I said on paper,
- 19:24Speaker 3: I'll tell you right now, I'm picking the Chiefs to win.
- 19:27Speaker 3: But on paper, the Eagles have more talent than the Chiefs.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Except at that one key position.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't argue with that.
- 19:36Speaker 4: He's a killer man.
- 19:37Speaker 5: That's I just unless you got unless you got fifty
- 19:39Speaker 5: five ar I mean.
- 19:40Speaker 3: They have a better offensive line, better defensive line, better
- 19:43Speaker 3: running back, you know, like the Chiefs have a better coach,
- 19:46Speaker 3: no question, yea, yeah, yeah, but we'll see.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Yeah, that was I mean, it was just such a
- 19:52Speaker 5: play the game right for Buffalo and the other like
- 19:54Speaker 5: that's just the Chiefs. They made all the plays they
- 19:56Speaker 5: had to make, but you just felt Buffalo just everything
- 19:59Speaker 5: was tough. I mean it's obviously the fourth down stuff
- 20:02Speaker 5: was just ribboning those moments of that game.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a really good game. Again, I know
- 20:07Speaker 3: it's a broken record for Buffalo. I just thought it
- 20:11Speaker 3: really exposed the Bill's lack of complimentary talent. It's not
- 20:14Speaker 3: as talented a Bill's team this year. Now. I think
- 20:17Speaker 3: they had enough talent to win on Sunday. They had
- 20:19Speaker 3: enough talent to beat Kansas City on Sunday. They fell
- 20:22Speaker 3: short again in large part because I think they choked again.
- 20:27Speaker 3: I don't think that they played as well as they
- 20:28Speaker 3: normally play, but you have to almost be perfect in
- 20:32Speaker 3: those You could just see like on the margins, there
- 20:37Speaker 3: was just little cracks here and there, you know, like
- 20:40Speaker 3: right down to the last play with Kinkaid just drops
- 20:42Speaker 3: a pass like you've got to catch that. You got
- 20:44Speaker 3: to catch that, you have to catch that pass.
- 20:46Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the different championship teams that make like the
- 20:49Speaker 5: Julian Edelman clatch.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Now and remarkably put the ball that was way easier
- 20:53Speaker 3: than to catch that Edelman made. There was nobody hanging
- 20:56Speaker 3: on King kid. It was just him and the ball.
- 20:58Speaker 2: That's right.
- 20:59Speaker 3: It was a little low, but it wasn't a hard catch.
- 21:02Speaker 2: You have to make the catch.
- 21:03Speaker 3: So you know, I give all the credit. And I
- 21:06Speaker 3: know people are gonna be like, oh, you know, making
- 21:08Speaker 3: fun of Kansas City. No, I give all the credit
- 21:09Speaker 3: in the world for Kansas City. I just wrote we
- 21:12Speaker 3: posted this morning in my notes just how strikingly similar
- 21:17Speaker 3: they are to the Patriots in that they're so good
- 21:21Speaker 3: when they need to be, they make every play when
- 21:23Speaker 3: they need to be, and then when they need that break,
- 21:27Speaker 3: they get the break too. So it's a lethal combination
- 21:30Speaker 3: of being really really good and really really fortunate. And
- 21:33Speaker 3: I'm thinking about d Ford lining up off side. I'm
- 21:36Speaker 3: thinking about the AFC Championship game against Jacksonville when the
- 21:41Speaker 3: Dean Lewis fumbled and the Jags picked it up and
- 21:43Speaker 3: ran it back for a touchdown and the referee blew
- 21:45Speaker 3: it dead.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Remember that, Yeah, sure, that's Doug Marron about it.
- 21:48Speaker 3: They lose. Patriots lose the game if you don't get
- 21:51Speaker 3: the So it's a combination of being really really good
- 21:54Speaker 3: and as you said, you got to be perfect to
- 21:56Speaker 3: beat them, and then when you match them, they get
- 22:00Speaker 3: that break and the you know, they got another break.
- 22:02Speaker 3: I thought Josh Allen got the first down.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that was the only call I was questioned.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Yeah. I didn't have a huge issue with the referees
- 22:07Speaker 3: in the game overall, but I had an issue with
- 22:09Speaker 3: that and the whole the whole way it unfolded. I
- 22:11Speaker 3: had an issue with the mechanics of it.
- 22:13Speaker 5: I went back and watched that pass catch though, and
- 22:15Speaker 5: we talked a little bit about it, and I'm still
- 22:17Speaker 5: not so convinced. And I know that the ball didn't move,
- 22:20Speaker 5: but I don't feel like either guy necessarily had possession
- 22:23Speaker 5: of it.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Yeah. Again, I don't think the ball did not move,
- 22:28Speaker 2: so somebody had possession of it, and the tie goes
- 22:31Speaker 2: to the receiver.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Right, That's what That's how I That's how I adjudicated
- 22:35Speaker 3: the play. But again, had like I don't think that
- 22:38Speaker 3: would have been like this horrific call. Like, I think
- 22:41Speaker 3: people just want to so neat. I think, as I've
- 22:44Speaker 3: told you millions of times, I don't think the outcome
- 22:47Speaker 3: of these games is predetermined. I don't think they want
- 22:49Speaker 3: one team to win over the other. I just think
- 22:51Speaker 3: they're terrible at their job.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Big had had to put up his own little pole. Yeah,
- 22:55Speaker 2: and fifty five percent of the people think that these
- 22:58Speaker 2: games are fixed, Like why would you watch? Like, I
- 23:01Speaker 2: know they're probably being snarky or emotional, but the fact
- 23:08Speaker 2: that that many people believe that is it is crazy.
- 23:11Speaker 2: It's crazy. I mean, it's not good for the league
- 23:14Speaker 2: for one.
- 23:14Speaker 3: And Mike, I don't think you're wrong by that.
- 23:16Speaker 5: I just asked him the question because I mean, like,
- 23:18Speaker 5: it does hit the ground, and I you know, so
- 23:19Speaker 5: I understand.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Absolutely hits the ground. I just didn't think it moved right.
- 23:22Speaker 5: And I understand that, you know, Fred clarifying with the
- 23:25Speaker 5: tie goes to the receiver and that somebody did have
- 23:27Speaker 5: possession of it. So I guess that's a little clarification.
- 23:29Speaker 5: I wasn't exactly thinking of, but now I'm with you
- 23:32Speaker 5: guys on the other one, and I thought on the
- 23:33Speaker 5: fourth down in the end, I thought of Paul, just
- 23:35Speaker 5: because the two refs came in at different levels, you know.
- 23:39Speaker 3: And you could see the far guy what I like
- 23:41Speaker 3: about it and why I mentioned the mechanics. From what
- 23:43Speaker 3: I understand I read a little bit about this yesterday morning.
- 23:48Speaker 3: That's generally how.
- 23:49Speaker 2: It works is the near side of the near well.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Whatever it's called. Now, he ran to the left side.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Which is another problem in and of itself, is that
- 23:56Speaker 3: Joe Brady, Josh Allen, and Sean McDermott never once adjusted
- 24:01Speaker 3: to the fact that Kansas City was overloading to the
- 24:03Speaker 3: left side, knowing that that's where Josh Allen goes. They
- 24:05Speaker 3: just kept doing it the same way. Some of them,
- 24:07Speaker 3: they got some of them. They I just want to
- 24:11Speaker 3: include it all of them. If it is a Josh
- 24:13Speaker 3: Allen decision, it's probably okay if the coach says, hey, listen,
- 24:16Speaker 3: don't go left. But the guy on the near side
- 24:22Speaker 3: was closer to Josh Allen. So that's generally how the
- 24:24Speaker 3: mechanics were, because he'll have the overrule on the spot.
- 24:27Speaker 3: What I thought they messed up, though, is it was
- 24:30Speaker 3: clear that Alan got twisted and the near side guy
- 24:35Speaker 3: could only see his back. There's no way he possibly
- 24:38Speaker 3: could have ever seen the ball because he was completely
- 24:41Speaker 3: twisted around. Now, the guy on the far side had
- 24:45Speaker 3: a good look at the ball, and let me tell you,
- 24:47Speaker 3: he didn't have it being close to a first down.
- 24:49Speaker 3: He had it well over the line. He had it
- 24:52Speaker 3: a good six inches to a foot over the line.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Yeah, because he started here and then he saw the
- 24:56Speaker 2: other guy and then he moved this way.
- 24:57Speaker 3: They adjusted by a good two feet.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:00Speaker 3: So it wasn't like one guy had it here and
- 25:03Speaker 3: one guy had it here. One guy had it here,
- 25:04Speaker 3: one guy had it here.
- 25:05Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, and that to me shouldn't happen.
- 25:10Speaker 4: Yeah, it was still a great game.
- 25:11Speaker 5: I mean, some of those third down throws that Josh
- 25:13Speaker 5: Allen made, the one to mac Hollins down the field.
- 25:16Speaker 5: Even my lovely wife, she watched the whole game. She
- 25:18Speaker 5: was like, oh my god, the one that shak here
- 25:20Speaker 5: in the middle. I mean, just you know, they came
- 25:23Speaker 5: out tight though. I mean, those first two passes look
- 25:25Speaker 5: like they were both going to get picked. And you know,
- 25:27Speaker 5: I kind of put that on the coaching. I think
- 25:28Speaker 5: that's what a lot of people have been saying that.
- 25:30Speaker 3: I think way too much has been making that. I mean,
- 25:33Speaker 3: I agree with you one, yeah, that they looked like
- 25:36Speaker 3: they were a little tight at the very beginning game,
- 25:37Speaker 3: but they settled right down. Yeah, you know, I mean
- 25:40Speaker 3: they went down and drove the length of the field
- 25:42Speaker 3: the second possession. You know, another thing that I was
- 25:45Speaker 3: talking about and there's been a lot of you know,
- 25:50Speaker 3: where did James Cook go talk? They had a drive
- 25:54Speaker 3: in the third quarter where it was a lot of
- 25:57Speaker 3: It was almost all right. I think it was one pass,
- 26:00Speaker 3: all runs. They went down and scored the next possession,
- 26:03Speaker 3: it was all passes and they went down the field
- 26:07Speaker 3: and that's when they got stopped on the on the
- 26:11Speaker 3: fourth down. And there were passes to Cook. Ye, they
- 26:14Speaker 3: were like so to me, like in other words, passes
- 26:17Speaker 3: to Cook are like runs. The little swings that he
- 26:19Speaker 3: got big yards on. I think he had like three
- 26:21Speaker 3: catches for forty five yards. So like, I don't really
- 26:25Speaker 3: think that they got away from Cook as much. I mean,
- 26:28Speaker 3: the running game may maybe got away from Cook in
- 26:31Speaker 3: the last like the last drive, because then the next
- 26:33Speaker 3: drive they threw the ball right down the field and
- 26:34Speaker 3: scored a touchdown. So two of their last three drives
- 26:39Speaker 3: was was very Cook centric. The third the third of
- 26:42Speaker 3: the last three was not as much Cook, but it
- 26:44Speaker 3: was a touchdown drive. And then the last drive they
- 26:47Speaker 3: had three and a half minutes left. I think they
- 26:49Speaker 3: ran it too much. They ran Ty Johnson on first down,
- 26:53Speaker 3: then Josh Allen on second on the second down, and
- 26:55Speaker 3: they're getting the first down. Then they threw. They threw
- 26:58Speaker 3: a couple of passes. Then the white receiver screen, which
- 27:01Speaker 3: again to me is a run play. Third and ten
- 27:03Speaker 3: is not a wide receiver screen down, so you set
- 27:06Speaker 3: up a fourth and five. They blitched you. You weren't
- 27:08Speaker 3: ready for it. That's why I think they choked. Yeah,
- 27:11Speaker 3: I think the Bill's choked.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:13Speaker 5: We talked a lot about that, that last blitz by
- 27:15Speaker 5: by Spags, and Paul said, I totally agree with him.
- 27:17Speaker 5: It was it was one pre snap, you know, before
- 27:20Speaker 5: the snap Josh Allen, you know, not recognizing who was
- 27:22Speaker 5: gonna come. I mean credit, I know it came out
- 27:25Speaker 5: from Buffalo o Cyrus Torrents, their right guard, said that
- 27:28Speaker 5: they kept showing that look all game, and they kept
- 27:30Speaker 5: dropping out and dropping out and dropping out, like they
- 27:32Speaker 5: were just saving it for that one key moment. And
- 27:35Speaker 5: I think Buffalo might have assumed they're gonna drop out again,
- 27:38Speaker 5: and they didn't, and you saw what happened. They got
- 27:40Speaker 5: pressure right in his face.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Two defensive backs on that on that you know it aggressive.
- 27:45Speaker 3: McDuffie was one of them, and I think it was read. Yeah,
- 27:49Speaker 3: it was the other one. I mean yeah, so give
- 27:51Speaker 3: Spags credit.
- 27:52Speaker 2: I mean risky play and there were.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Guys wide open everywhere. Yeah, like that's yeah, you're hoping
- 27:57Speaker 3: I'm going to get there, and he's not gonna be received.
- 27:59Speaker 3: He could have, you know, if he if he knew
- 28:01Speaker 3: right away and he recognized that, he swings it out
- 28:04Speaker 3: to Shakira for an easy first down.
- 28:05Speaker 4: Yeah, but once.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Mike and I will get to that later. You couldn't
- 28:10Speaker 3: be any more open than Kincaid was. Like you watch
- 28:13Speaker 3: the overhead of that. There's nobody covering him, but he's
- 28:16Speaker 3: running for his life and he got it as close
- 28:18Speaker 3: to him as he could. And unfortunately for Buffalo they
- 28:22Speaker 3: couldn't make the play. But all twenty two cowboys killing
- 28:25Speaker 3: Josh Allen for throwing the swing to Oh yeah, did
- 28:28Speaker 3: you see that Ryan Fryan Fitzpatrick had the guy for lunch?
- 28:31Speaker 4: Yeah, well Ryan Leaf did. Ryan Leaf was a little weird.
- 28:36Speaker 5: It was like stuff him in a locker kind of
- 28:38Speaker 5: response to I don't know.
- 28:39Speaker 2: There was a lot yeah nerd.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Yeah, but like it's clearly there's a lot of there's
- 28:45Speaker 3: a lot of nerd anti nerd in this game. Like
- 28:49Speaker 3: that is a glaring example because anybody who's ever played football,
- 28:53Speaker 3: wouldn't say like he's got to throw that.
- 28:57Speaker 2: You're under. You're under the rest supposed to be able
- 29:00Speaker 2: to see the whole field according to the all twenty
- 29:02Speaker 2: two people, because they can see the whole field.
- 29:05Speaker 4: In the comfort of their own right home.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Now, like I said, and Mike, I think Mike explained
- 29:09Speaker 3: very well. I think where you could question Josh Allen
- 29:12Speaker 3: is did he get fooled pre snap and should he
- 29:16Speaker 3: have known that that was coming and then he immediately
- 29:18Speaker 3: gets the snap and he flicks it out. Brady would
- 29:21Speaker 3: have done that, Mahomes would have done that, or you.
- 29:23Speaker 5: Know, maybe they're coming this time and the need to
- 29:26Speaker 5: at least that my heart ready to go right right
- 29:29Speaker 5: to but.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Not not knowing that that blitz is coming and getting
- 29:33Speaker 3: the immediate pressure that he got. I don't see how
- 29:35Speaker 3: you turn your hips that fast in the opposite direction
- 29:38Speaker 3: right to throw that pass. So they and that guy
- 29:41Speaker 3: got a lot of heat, which I think he deserved. Again,
- 29:45Speaker 3: because here's the part that I really didn't like. I
- 29:48Speaker 3: watched a little of his clip right, and he says
- 29:51Speaker 3: it was a similar play to last year in the
- 29:53Speaker 3: playoffs against Kansas City's same situation fourth and three in
- 29:56Speaker 3: the fourth quarter when he throws that same little you know,
- 29:59Speaker 3: the the orbit motion, you know, right where he reverses
- 30:03Speaker 3: like you know, he's man's playing football to everybody and
- 30:06Speaker 3: the guy you know, and Shakiir is wide opening the flat.
- 30:09Speaker 3: Alan gets the snap, throws it right out right up
- 30:13Speaker 3: the sideline, easy first down conversion. It's a major difference
- 30:16Speaker 3: on the play though, Fred, what do you think it was?
- 30:19Speaker 2: There was no blitz. Oh and that's the last It
- 30:22Speaker 2: was a four Yeah, it was a.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Four man rush that they completely held the he had
- 30:26Speaker 3: all day, right, which is you know, makes it a
- 30:30Speaker 3: little bit different. Yeah, well the other thing, okay, so
- 30:35Speaker 3: on on the nerd the nerdisms, get them. Well, you
- 30:39Speaker 3: got to go for it all the time, right, you
- 30:40Speaker 3: got to go for fourth down, you go for two,
- 30:42Speaker 3: You do this, you do that, right. You played the numbers,
- 30:44Speaker 3: you play the percentages, right. What was Buffalo during the
- 30:47Speaker 3: course of the season. I think they said it during
- 30:48Speaker 3: the course during the game. Early in the game, they
- 30:50Speaker 3: were twenty eight for thirty on Josh Allen quarterback sneaks
- 30:54Speaker 3: and on the two that they got stopped on they
- 30:56Speaker 3: got him on fourth down. So they were thirty for
- 30:58Speaker 3: thirty had that out in this game? Right, Well, my
- 31:02Speaker 3: numbers say I got to go for it every time
- 31:04Speaker 3: because I'm I have twenty eight out of thirty percent
- 31:06Speaker 3: chance of getting it. Yeah, all it takes is one
- 31:09Speaker 3: that you don't get and you lose. Now, I'm not
- 31:12Speaker 3: suggesting that you don't go for it on the one
- 31:15Speaker 3: that they went for, but I'm just saying this is
- 31:17Speaker 3: why it's not just about numbers. It's not paint by number.
- 31:20Speaker 2: You gotta know the game, read the room.
- 31:21Speaker 4: There's also when you go for two.
- 31:23Speaker 3: I feel like I think that was dumb, a little
- 31:24Speaker 3: bit of.
- 31:25Speaker 5: An air of desperation already or a feeling that we're
- 31:28Speaker 5: going to be chasing this game rather than we're just
- 31:30Speaker 5: going about our business. We know we're going to score.
- 31:32Speaker 5: Just keep keeping keep kicking field goal or extra points.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Take the point.
- 31:36Speaker 3: It's going to add up.
- 31:37Speaker 2: But the first one, I was like, why are they
- 31:38Speaker 2: going for ten? They don't need to start going.
- 31:41Speaker 3: For just because there was a penalty, Like they took
- 31:43Speaker 3: the point off the board. Now, in fairness to Joe
- 31:47Speaker 3: Brady and McDermott, they hadn't been stopped on a quarterback
- 31:51Speaker 3: sneak yet at that point you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 31:55Speaker 3: that was the first one they stuffed. Alan stops tries
- 31:58Speaker 3: to throw it out psycho, he's a psychotic.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Well you can't lose. What the hell?
- 32:03Speaker 3: Yeah you could, you could up two points, I guess.
- 32:07Speaker 2: All right, So those are the two games Eagles Chiefs.
- 32:12Speaker 2: I'm I'm I'm looking forward to it. A lot of
- 32:14Speaker 2: people I can't watch this game, Meteor, Yeah, I mean,
- 32:20Speaker 2: come on, you'll be watching, Like.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Why is it? That's the part I don't get. I
- 32:24Speaker 3: understand you rooting for Philadelphia. That may if every Patriots
- 32:28Speaker 3: fan felt that way, I would totally understand. Part of
- 32:31Speaker 3: me roots that way is kind of feeling that way.
- 32:33Speaker 3: I'm probably gonna root for the greatness of my homes.
- 32:38Speaker 3: But I understand. I totally understand like them, I don't understand,
- 32:42Speaker 3: like I can't watch, Yeah, this is miserable. Like you're
- 32:46Speaker 3: an NFL fan, you love the sport. Obviously, people were
- 32:50Speaker 3: like calling into the shows yesterday, my shows and saying
- 32:54Speaker 3: how they were gutted after Buffalo lost. How could First
- 32:59Speaker 3: of all, you're a grown adult. You probably shouldn't be
- 33:01Speaker 3: all that got it if you a team lost, let
- 33:03Speaker 3: alone someone else's team. Yeah, you know you're not twelve anymore.
- 33:08Speaker 3: Like yeah, like it bums you out. You lose a
- 33:11Speaker 3: big game, it leaves a mark you bummed out.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Listen. In a perfect world, it would have been Commander's
- 33:15Speaker 2: Ravens for me. So then I have both the teams
- 33:18Speaker 2: that I can't have when they're out. But I made
- 33:21Speaker 2: lemonade out of the lemons. No matter who won, I
- 33:25Speaker 2: had the Okay, well, at least at least we know
- 33:27Speaker 2: now the bills windows closed, so now I can move
- 33:30Speaker 2: on confirm. Now I can move on to rooting against
- 33:33Speaker 2: the Chiefs.
- 33:34Speaker 5: Well, Eagles are really talented team, though, you know, like
- 33:37Speaker 5: it's it's like you're watching two teams without any talent,
- 33:40Speaker 5: or like, oh man, this team just snuck in and
- 33:41Speaker 5: it's going to be a slog.
- 33:43Speaker 3: There is talented.
- 33:44Speaker 4: They are some real players on that.
- 33:46Speaker 2: And I don't trust Hurts.
- 33:48Speaker 3: Well, that's that's the weak link. That's why if they
- 33:52Speaker 3: play the way they know, I'm not talking about fifty
- 33:54Speaker 3: five points, I'm talking about the way they played. They
- 33:57Speaker 3: threw the ball effectively in that game, did he did?
- 34:01Speaker 3: And if they can do that against Kansas City, it's
- 34:03Speaker 3: game one. If they're one dimensional and they and they
- 34:06Speaker 3: end up with whatever eighty five yards passing like they
- 34:09Speaker 3: did in the Rams game. Yeah, I don't think that
- 34:13Speaker 3: Spags will just let Sakuon Barkley kill him.
- 34:16Speaker 2: But I hope that, like everybody else, I hope that
- 34:17Speaker 2: people are realizing that the twenty twenty four Chiefs was
- 34:22Speaker 2: as much about their defense as it was Patrick Mahomes,
- 34:25Speaker 2: because you know, the defense is you know, one of
- 34:29Speaker 2: the big reasons why Mahomes had the ball at the
- 34:32Speaker 2: end of the game down by two in a lot
- 34:34Speaker 2: of these games, and why they ended up fifteen and two.
- 34:37Speaker 2: I mean, they made leave and the defense was a
- 34:39Speaker 2: big reason why they beat the Bills. Even though the
- 34:42Speaker 2: Bills were moving the ball in critical situations, they were
- 34:45Speaker 2: making the stock.
- 34:45Speaker 3: I just tell you though, it's another example of how
- 34:48Speaker 3: I think they're so similar to the Patriots in twenty eighteen.
- 34:51Speaker 3: That's what a lot of people said, like they run
- 34:54Speaker 3: the ball, they did. The defense has been great low
- 34:56Speaker 3: scoring games, but in the playoffs, what do they have
- 34:58Speaker 3: to do. They had to score four against the Chargers,
- 35:01Speaker 3: they had to score thirty seven against the Chiefs. Chiefs
- 35:04Speaker 3: haven't haven't been able to score thirty all year. They
- 35:06Speaker 3: scored thirty when they had to. Yeah, when the other
- 35:09Speaker 3: team scored thirty they had I mean they I mean
- 35:10Speaker 3: the Bills missed two extra points and scored twenty nine
- 35:13Speaker 3: points ye because they needed thirty and they got thirty
- 35:16Speaker 3: when they needed to. It's just another example, and it's
- 35:18Speaker 3: so similar to the Patriots.
- 35:20Speaker 2: They just do what they have to do, whatever the game.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Is, whatever the game declares, right, they know how to win.
- 35:25Speaker 5: Not a lot of household names, I mean, other than
- 35:27Speaker 5: Trent McDuffie and Chris Jones. It's you know, it's not
- 35:29Speaker 5: a lot of guys who are on defense superstars or
- 35:31Speaker 5: you know, like Chris Jones might be the best defensive
- 35:34Speaker 5: player in football.
- 35:35Speaker 3: But I would also say that Nick Bolton can play,
- 35:39Speaker 3: George Culaftis can play. Uh even like that Chanal guy,
- 35:44Speaker 3: he's pretty good too.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Leo Leo, the guy in the middle with Penney or
- 35:47Speaker 2: what's his.
- 35:48Speaker 3: Name, Dana, Mike, Mike, Dana, something like that.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Dan.
- 35:52Speaker 2: He had a big guy in the middle of the
- 35:53Speaker 2: defensive line.
- 35:54Speaker 3: I mean, Chris Jones is a monster.
- 35:57Speaker 5: Yeah, oh yeah, I mean talk about those fourth down
- 36:00Speaker 5: was off side on the air?
- 36:03Speaker 9: Was going on?
- 36:04Speaker 4: I noticed that too.
- 36:04Speaker 3: First looks like he's crying.
- 36:06Speaker 5: Yeah, he always cries at the national Sweats out of
- 36:08Speaker 5: his eyes?
- 36:09Speaker 3: Sweats out of his eyes? Is that the medical turn?
- 36:11Speaker 5: He seemed to be out a lot of Well I
- 36:14Speaker 5: noticed it early in the game and they were talking
- 36:15Speaker 5: about him, and I'm like, it's like the third play
- 36:17Speaker 5: of the game.
- 36:17Speaker 4: What's he doing on the side? Like they're showing him
- 36:19Speaker 4: on the side.
- 36:19Speaker 3: That was like the cook thing. That's where I do.
- 36:21Speaker 3: You know. The second guessing to me is not necessarily
- 36:23Speaker 3: how many touches cook hab? But why was he off
- 36:25Speaker 3: the field so often? In key junction?
- 36:27Speaker 5: Trust those other guys? The other guy, I mean, you
- 36:30Speaker 5: know Ty Johnson and then.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Ty Johnson's fine, But Ray Davis looked at Ray Davis,
- 36:34Speaker 3: he looked a little tight.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Yeah all right, So two weeks until the Super Bowl
- 36:40Speaker 2: and Pro Bowl games. Excited about those?
- 36:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I have to get your update on that next
- 36:46Speaker 3: next Tuesday, you guys can fill me in on that.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I'll have a weekend off from watching TV, that's for sure.
- 36:51Speaker 4: I do some indore golfing.
- 36:52Speaker 9: Friend.
- 36:52Speaker 2: The Celtics went last night.
- 36:54Speaker 3: They did not they did. I blew a ten point
- 36:57Speaker 3: fourth quarter lead, again at home again.
- 37:01Speaker 2: What's going on with them? Everybody's healthy, what's going on?
- 37:05Speaker 3: I think they got some Okay, I'm as I said earlier,
- 37:11Speaker 3: I'm small sea concerned about them. All right, all right,
- 37:14Speaker 3: I think that's some issues.
- 37:16Speaker 2: So eight five five past five hundred is the TPX

- 38:07Speaker 2: was what was his quotes.
- 38:10Speaker 3: I didn't take the course cost it cost me?
- 38:13Speaker 5: Would you would you just run the ball in that
- 38:15Speaker 5: situation before game management?

- 38:31Speaker 2: of fun. All right, let's get to the phones. The
- 38:34Speaker 2: TPX hotline will start with Todd, North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 38:39Speaker 11: You guys.
- 38:40Speaker 6: It's been really great reading all the stuff and hearing
- 38:42Speaker 6: what's going on. And I've been watching all the playoffs
- 38:46Speaker 6: and stuff. But I just had a thought. I really
- 38:49Speaker 6: felt that last year our coaches really kind of let
- 38:52Speaker 6: the team down. I know we didn't have great players,
- 38:55Speaker 6: but my curiosity, my thought is what would you guys
- 38:58Speaker 6: think our record would be with this set of coaches
- 39:01Speaker 6: with the same team. Do you think we'd get like
- 39:03Speaker 6: a one or two more wins? Or would we get
- 39:05Speaker 6: four or five wins or roughly same.
- 39:07Speaker 2: I'm just kiding maybe two or three at most. You
- 39:10Speaker 2: need better players.
- 39:11Speaker 3: I think if this coaching staff was the coaching staff
- 39:14Speaker 3: last year, they would have gone four and thirteen, Like,
- 39:17Speaker 3: if you're not going to give them any players, there's
- 39:19Speaker 3: only so much you can do. Right Personally, I'm hoping
- 39:25Speaker 3: that this coaching staff will help them get better players too.
- 39:30Speaker 3: As far as Rabel being involved in personnel with Ryan
- 39:33Speaker 3: Cowden his guy in personnel to augment Elliott Wolf. They
- 39:37Speaker 3: got to make some moves. They've got to get some players.
- 39:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I wish I could say, but I mean,
- 39:42Speaker 5: am I to be hopeful that this coaching staff could
- 39:45Speaker 5: get better play out of some of the players that
- 39:47Speaker 5: we know were better than they played last year. I mean,
- 39:49Speaker 5: I generally agree with you, but at this point it's
- 39:51Speaker 5: all unknown commodities.
- 39:52Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 39:53Speaker 4: I mean, we'll see, We'll see how they line up
- 39:55Speaker 4: in the space.
- 39:55Speaker 2: It's the first, you know, thing that these coaches need
- 39:59Speaker 2: to do is sit down with last year's game tape
- 40:03Speaker 2: and do a thorough evaluation of every game and the
- 40:05Speaker 2: performance of every player in every game to say this
- 40:08Speaker 2: guy isn't bad.
- 40:10Speaker 5: You know, Well, that's the position coach's job and that's
- 40:13Speaker 5: what they should be doing. And then they should have
- 40:15Speaker 5: a full report on, you know, how these guys are
- 40:17Speaker 5: going to fit into the new scheme and what they
- 40:19Speaker 5: want to do should point out to Andrew. Callahan had
- 40:21Speaker 5: a story, I believe over the weekend about Kyle Duger
- 40:24Speaker 5: having you know, a significant high ankle sprain and needed
- 40:27Speaker 5: to get surgery in the offseason. So you know, we
- 40:29Speaker 5: were hard on him all year, and I mean it
- 40:31Speaker 5: was right there for everybody to watch. I mean, you
- 40:33Speaker 5: don't have to go to PFF to tell you didn't
- 40:35Speaker 5: have a good year.
- 40:36Speaker 4: So he was.
- 40:36Speaker 5: He was dealing with a lot, but you know, still
- 40:39Speaker 5: it's it's everybody was kind of down, the players that,
- 40:42Speaker 5: you know, Ramandra Stevenson, like, how are they going to
- 40:44Speaker 5: get him to stop fumbling?
- 40:45Speaker 4: I think there's a lot of questions they got to
- 40:46Speaker 4: figure out.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Yep, Randy's in Providence. Hey, Randy, Hey, So I.
- 40:52Speaker 11: Wanted to talk to you guys about the coach hirings.
- 40:55Speaker 11: So far, I've been really happy with all of them personally,
- 40:58Speaker 11: but I except until yesterday, I thought the offensive line
- 41:01Speaker 11: coach was one of the most important hires here, and
- 41:04Speaker 11: I was hoping they'd hire somebody with the history of like,
- 41:07Speaker 11: you know, developing those third fourth rounders, second rounders, and
- 41:11Speaker 11: a you know, great reliable starters. Pro Bowl caliber, even
- 41:16Speaker 11: I thought there were three really good candidates out there,
- 41:18Speaker 11: Wan Castillo, Joe Filben, and Justin Fry at Ohio State.
- 41:24Speaker 11: The to first two guys have a long history of
- 41:26Speaker 11: doing exactly that in the NFL. But Doug Moron, like
- 41:30Speaker 11: he does, have a long history of offensive line coaching,
- 41:33Speaker 11: but the results just aren't there. I mean he did.
- 41:35Speaker 11: The best player that Hey coached was Kevin Mawai back
- 41:39Speaker 11: in New York, but he was already an All Pro
- 41:42Speaker 11: when Maroon got there. And the best player that developed
- 41:46Speaker 11: under him that I could find was Cam Robinson, who
- 41:49Speaker 11: is I mean, he's a left tackle that you can play,
- 41:53Speaker 11: but he's not a He's not any kind of stud.
- 41:56Speaker 11: He was a second round pick. So I wonder what
- 41:59Speaker 11: you guys think about, you know, his ability to develop
- 42:03Speaker 11: the players that we have, because look, yeah, you want
- 42:05Speaker 11: to get talent, but the key to developing a really
- 42:09Speaker 11: good football team is having those second, third, fourth rounders
- 42:12Speaker 11: develop into quality players.
- 42:15Speaker 4: It's a great question.
- 42:16Speaker 3: I mean I think that's I they a lot more
- 42:18Speaker 3: to Doug moronan I mean I.
- 42:20Speaker 4: Do too, but I mean we'll have to see.
- 42:22Speaker 5: I mean Dante, I mean, did Dante have that reputation
- 42:25Speaker 5: in two thousand and one or is that something that
- 42:26Speaker 5: he developed and earned over the course of those years
- 42:29Speaker 5: early on? You know, but I just I love the experience.
- 42:32Speaker 5: I mean, but I think it's a it's a great question.
- 42:34Speaker 5: I think it's a really good point that they have
- 42:36Speaker 5: to develop. You're not going to be able to draft
- 42:38Speaker 5: all these guys and fix everything with first rounders like that.
- 42:40Speaker 3: So Bill Callahan is like largely considered the the guru
- 42:44Speaker 3: when it comes to offensive line coaches.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Dean, who do.
- 42:47Speaker 3: You develop in Cincinnati? Yeah, a terrible offensive line, but
- 42:52Speaker 3: he made it better because he was a really good coach.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Like I don't necessarily look at that. I mean, I
- 43:00Speaker 3: don't know the ins and out. I don't know. I've
- 43:01Speaker 3: never even heard the Ohio State guy's name, So I'm
- 43:03Speaker 3: not going to pretend to tell you he's a better
- 43:05Speaker 3: or worse candidate than anybody else. Wan Castillo. I hear
- 43:09Speaker 3: people talking about Doug Maroon in much more positive fashion
- 43:13Speaker 3: than that. Now, maybe maybe Randy's right, Maybe Randy's got
- 43:17Speaker 3: it and he's overrated. Yeah, Maron, But I'm excited about Moron.
- 43:21Speaker 3: I think that's a really I thought that was a
- 43:22Speaker 3: really good. Hire an experienced guy who's had success doing it,
- 43:26Speaker 3: and he's I think the head coach experience could be
- 43:32Speaker 3: a benefit as well. I think you have to be
- 43:35Speaker 3: a little bit cautious of having too many former head
- 43:37Speaker 3: coaches on your staff. I don't think that's a good thing.
- 43:39Speaker 3: You and I have argued about this in the past.
- 43:41Speaker 3: That's right. I think sometimes you have too many head
- 43:43Speaker 3: coaches and the different guys think that their way is
- 43:47Speaker 3: the right way.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Right, Well, that's where the head coach has to set
- 43:52Speaker 2: the tone.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Right, it's my way. So that can be problematic, but
- 43:56Speaker 3: it doesn't have to be.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Colin and Casey in caps, says Fred. Please read this
- 44:02Speaker 2: all right, I'll do it. I'm an avocate Atris fan
- 44:05Speaker 2: and I live in Kansas City. I was at the
- 44:07Speaker 2: twenty eighteen AFC Championship came I don't get invited to
- 44:10Speaker 2: Chiefs parties with my friends because they know where my
- 44:12Speaker 2: allegiance lies. I'm with Fred that I don't want the
- 44:15Speaker 2: Chiefs to win again, but I also respect what they're doing.
- 44:18Speaker 2: With that said, I'm resolved to throw away the dynasty comparisons.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Let the rex Ryans and Max Kellerman's of the world
- 44:25Speaker 2: do that. As for me, I'm accepting the Chiefs will
- 44:28Speaker 2: probably threepete. If they do it, they deserve props for
- 44:31Speaker 2: the historic feat. Most of all, I am just ready
- 44:34Speaker 2: to stop defending our past greatness and get back to
- 44:37Speaker 2: seeing the team I love compete for championships again. The
- 44:40Speaker 2: pass was great, but it's time to turn the page
- 44:43Speaker 2: and write a new chapter of greatness. Best way to
- 44:45Speaker 2: stop the Chiefs dynasty today is to beat them. So
- 44:48Speaker 2: come on, Vrabel, come on McDaniels, come on Drake May.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Let's build a team that can take down the Chiefs.
- 44:54Speaker 2: LFG okay therapy session or we'll carry on. I like it.
- 44:58Speaker 5: I like it, I said to Paul jokingly. I was like, well,
- 45:00Speaker 5: if you had to pick a time frame to suck,
- 45:02Speaker 5: I mean, it's kind of now. It's Kansas City's dominating everybody,
- 45:06Speaker 5: So I guess this is I mean, how frustrating would
- 45:08Speaker 5: it be as the Bills, where you feel like you've
- 45:09Speaker 5: got one of your best teams of all time and
- 45:12Speaker 5: you just can't get by this team.
- 45:13Speaker 4: It's got to be super frustrating.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Jeff in Canada writes in from the last Show, it's
- 45:19Speaker 2: your opinion, so it's not wrong, but not liking games
- 45:22Speaker 2: affected by weather is a very unpopular take amongst most fans.
- 45:26Speaker 2: That's absolutely true, if social media has anything to go by.
- 45:29Speaker 2: Perhaps because fans are sitting on a cozy couch while
- 45:32Speaker 2: you're in a freezing stadium. But I'm confident most fans
- 45:35Speaker 2: love a handful of weather games each year.
- 45:37Speaker 3: That's absolutely true. Ye, and I said that, I think
- 45:40Speaker 3: that I have a very minority opinion.
- 45:43Speaker 2: That from Chiefs versus Bills not my desire result. But
- 45:46Speaker 2: it was an entertaining game. We always love to assign blame,
- 45:50Speaker 2: but I think this is just a game where two
- 45:52Speaker 2: very little guests there, two very evenly matched teams battled,
- 45:57Speaker 2: and the Chiefs had maybe five more good plays in
- 46:00Speaker 2: the Bills. No one to blame, although I will give
- 46:02Speaker 2: CBS broadcast an F grade. Oh why are they getting
- 46:06Speaker 2: an F grade?
- 46:07Speaker 3: CBS Broadcast gets in F grade? Do we elaborate?
- 46:10Speaker 2: No elaboration.
- 46:12Speaker 3: I thought it was fine.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Romo and Nance. I thought they.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Were the only So I don't know if you guys
- 46:18Speaker 3: caught this. On the fourth down play the drop by Kincaid,
- 46:22Speaker 3: they put the flag bug up there, which I don't
- 46:27Speaker 3: know this for certain, but this happens a lot in
- 46:29Speaker 3: Chiefs games. I think because they wear yellow yellow, and
- 46:33Speaker 3: I don't think there was ever a flag, and I
- 46:35Speaker 3: think Nance was saying there's a flag and Romo said
- 46:37Speaker 3: there's no flag on the field, like so I think
- 46:40Speaker 3: he was looking and he was like, there's no flag
- 46:42Speaker 3: out there, and he caught the fact that that was
- 46:45Speaker 3: That has become another conspiracy.
- 46:47Speaker 2: I don't know if you know, they were ready and
- 46:48Speaker 2: Casey they picked it up.
- 46:50Speaker 3: He said, right, they picked up the flag. They were
- 46:54Speaker 3: saying there was a flag on Kansas City, but because
- 46:56Speaker 3: he dropped it, they picked it up, so he didn't
- 46:59Speaker 3: catch the pass. Mike's theory he got the first down
- 47:02Speaker 3: and then they picked up a flag that would have
- 47:04Speaker 3: given them the Bills the first down on that fourth down.
- 47:06Speaker 5: I thought Roe was funny on that that face mask
- 47:08Speaker 5: call where it just kind of brushed the front of
- 47:10Speaker 5: the face mask.
- 47:11Speaker 3: And he just went like, ye gee, I don't know.
- 47:15Speaker 3: Jim has been replaced by Gene. I like that save
- 47:18Speaker 3: me and I I do like the fact that Sterotor
- 47:23Speaker 3: is not afraid to say he doesn't think that they
- 47:26Speaker 3: got it right now. He didn't think they got it
- 47:27Speaker 3: right on the spot. He didn't think they got it
- 47:29Speaker 3: right on that face mask, and he was not afraid
- 47:32Speaker 3: to say it. I like that.
- 47:34Speaker 2: I don't think it's a foregone conclusion. The Chiefs beat
- 47:36Speaker 2: the Eagles. I cringe typing this, but fly, Eagles fly.
- 47:39Speaker 2: I might just have to watch a chick flick with
- 47:41Speaker 2: the Misses.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Definitely not a foregone conclusion. I mean, this is an
- 47:45Speaker 3: even game. The thing I'm interested in.
- 47:47Speaker 5: Is if the Chiefs were to say, get a call
- 47:49Speaker 5: that was you know, like we're talking about something that
- 47:52Speaker 5: was blatantly like felt like it favored them, the Eagles
- 47:55Speaker 5: fan base would go nuclear.
- 47:57Speaker 3: Well, like happened two years ago. Yeah right, So this
- 48:01Speaker 3: is my point again with the comparisons, like the tuck rule,
- 48:05Speaker 3: Patriots fans will will yell at you until they blew
- 48:09Speaker 3: in the face telling you how they got it right right,
- 48:13Speaker 3: Just like that defensive hold that allowed Kansas City to
- 48:16Speaker 3: get the first down and then kick the field goal
- 48:18Speaker 3: as time expired was technically the right call. We all
- 48:23Speaker 3: thought it was garbage. I thought it was garbage, and
- 48:26Speaker 3: I was rooting for Kansas City. I don't think it
- 48:29Speaker 3: was enough to warrant a flag. But he held them right, Yeah,
- 48:34Speaker 3: I mean it was by the letter of the law.
- 48:36Speaker 3: It was a penalty. But this is my point. When
- 48:39Speaker 3: you have an allegiance, you look at it through those
- 48:43Speaker 3: you know, those classes.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Eric from Amherstburg not sure if you guys are been
- 48:48Speaker 2: paying attention, but sounds like Casey and the refs are
- 48:51Speaker 2: at it again. All over social media, people losing their
- 48:54Speaker 2: minds over the officiating to cost the bills. WWE is
- 48:57Speaker 2: less obvious with it being scripted. We need change. Fans
- 49:01Speaker 2: are more livid with this than our double dynastic run.
- 49:05Speaker 5: What do you do, Like, what's a realistic fix to this?
- 49:08Speaker 3: People obviously went around in two thousand and one when
- 49:10Speaker 3: people lost their eleven f and minds.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Let's see who laser chain Robert as a lifelong Syracuse fan,
- 49:19Speaker 2: I'm very excited to see that Doug Moron is on
- 49:22Speaker 2: the staff to reassume lead the offensive line and its
- 49:25Speaker 2: first season is as the su head coach. The team
- 49:29Speaker 2: was visibly better by mid season and made their first
- 49:31Speaker 2: Bowl game in several seasons. The following year. Doug played
- 49:35Speaker 2: under coach McPherson and will bring the discipline and accountability
- 49:38Speaker 2: to the program that seemed to be lacking last season.
- 49:41Speaker 2: I also love that Vrabel seems to be bringing in
- 49:44Speaker 2: some developmental coaches to hopefully be prepared to advance as
- 49:48Speaker 2: assistant coaches when they inevitably move on. Overall, very excited
- 49:52Speaker 2: for this offseason and future of the team.
- 49:55Speaker 5: That's a question because I saw I saw some criticism
- 49:59Speaker 5: oflast year and saying, you know, why didn't we hire
- 50:02Speaker 5: some of these kind of guys last year?
- 50:04Speaker 4: And and but they weren't really putting that at like
- 50:07Speaker 4: wasn't it.
- 50:08Speaker 5: Mayo's choice who he hired?
- 50:10Speaker 3: Like I don't know they this is kind of what
- 50:12Speaker 3: I was talking about by like people like you know,
- 50:14Speaker 3: now they're doing it. I think they they had the
- 50:16Speaker 3: same philosophy last year. There was some guys they brought
- 50:21Speaker 3: in that they knew a little bit about they that
- 50:23Speaker 3: they you know, like Pellegrino and Belichick that they kept.
- 50:26Speaker 3: You know, Covington gets the promotion to defensive coordinator. They
- 50:30Speaker 3: went outside the organization and got a bunch of guys
- 50:32Speaker 3: that had some experience, like McCartney I brought up earlier
- 50:35Speaker 3: he was in Denver and had done it. And they
- 50:38Speaker 3: had a bunch of up and coming guys that they
- 50:40Speaker 3: gave kind of there for his jobs to that were
- 50:42Speaker 3: in mind, they had a they had a cast of
- 50:44Speaker 3: thousands on that coaching staff. Last year they had assistant
- 50:47Speaker 3: to the assistant general manager, you know, offensive line, right,
- 50:51Speaker 3: they had like two offensive line assistant coaches, right, So
- 50:56Speaker 3: I think that there, Their theory last year was very
- 51:00Speaker 3: similar to what their theory I think is right now.
- 51:03Speaker 3: I think right now they're they're identifying better people to
- 51:07Speaker 3: fill the roles. But again I think, well, I don't like,
- 51:13Speaker 3: I'm sorry, I don't I'm not well versed on the
- 51:15Speaker 3: Riley was the guy's name, Riley Milton something or other, Patterson,
- 51:21Speaker 3: Riley Lartin.
- 51:23Speaker 5: I think I might have got I think I might
- 51:25Speaker 5: have gotten that.
- 51:27Speaker 3: I mean, those guys could be the next guys, you know,
- 51:30Speaker 3: the next type pants guys for all I know. And
- 51:32Speaker 3: then all of a sudden you're like, well, it's like
- 51:34Speaker 3: Josh McDaniels and Brian and Brian Dable from two thousand.
- 51:39Speaker 3: Those could be those guys. John Carroll guy too, right,
- 51:43Speaker 3: one of them is I think, right there you.
- 51:44Speaker 2: Go, Brendan in Denham. While I ultimately am a fan
- 51:49Speaker 2: of gathering at a diverse and experienced staff the fact
- 51:52Speaker 2: that every single offensive hire has been a Rabel guy,
- 51:55Speaker 2: predominantly West Coast, has given me some pause. I'm worried
- 51:59Speaker 2: that McDaniels was foisted upon Vrabel, much like Bill O'Brien
- 52:03Speaker 2: was forced on Bill. I would have expected at least
- 52:05Speaker 2: someone McDaniel's work with to be on the staff. Hopefully
- 52:08Speaker 2: I'm proven wrong and McDaniel's really just as adapting his
- 52:11Speaker 2: offense to a more West Coast scheme. But I wonder
- 52:14Speaker 2: what you guys feel about that. I hope he wasn't.
- 52:17Speaker 3: I think that's a great point, and it's something that's
- 52:20Speaker 3: been on my mind.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and now what a schefter know. But schefter, you know,
- 52:26Speaker 2: was on record saying to a couple of different shows,
- 52:29Speaker 2: including Andy Harts Show, that no, this was a Rabel pick.
- 52:34Speaker 3: Yeah so no, no, no, but the all the coaches
- 52:39Speaker 3: are Verrabel.
- 52:40Speaker 2: Oh yeah, the coaches are. But he also wondered if
- 52:43Speaker 2: McDaniels was, well, you know, forced on him.
- 52:46Speaker 3: There's two ways of going here. This could be a
- 52:49Speaker 3: good a positive sign in my view, because you know,
- 52:53Speaker 3: so how about that?
- 52:54Speaker 4: Yeah, the out side of the stream very high.
- 52:56Speaker 3: On man, and I think it could be a positive
- 52:58Speaker 3: because I think there might be an indication that Josh
- 53:01Speaker 3: is willing to adapt the offense a little bit. I
- 53:04Speaker 3: don't want the same old offense. Not just me being stubborn,
- 53:08Speaker 3: I'll admit, I like that's me being stubborn. Ye, I
- 53:11Speaker 3: want to evolve a little bit offensively, And I think
- 53:14Speaker 3: these guys coming in might be an indication that Josh
- 53:19Speaker 3: is willing to evolve a little bit, maybe change some
- 53:22Speaker 3: of the concepts that they've clung to for twenty years.
- 53:26Speaker 4: Right.
- 53:26Speaker 5: But the other side of the street, which is where
- 53:28Speaker 5: maybe you usually live, would be that Josh is the
- 53:31Speaker 5: one that stands out amongst this group and that he
- 53:34Speaker 5: doesn't fit.
- 53:34Speaker 3: But what the email are saying, you know, and I
- 53:37Speaker 3: just I don't.
- 53:37Speaker 5: Buy into the continuing of the meddlesome owner narrative. And
- 53:41Speaker 5: I think that's what that is. I just don't really
- 53:44Speaker 5: understand why they would do that just because he's a
- 53:47Speaker 5: familiar name. I mean, it's it just stands out like, well,
- 53:50Speaker 5: then if you're going to do that, then like.
- 53:52Speaker 3: This, there's two schools of thought on this guy. I've
- 53:54Speaker 3: you know, people have thrown this back at the people
- 53:58Speaker 3: that have said this, But like, if you have to say,
- 54:01Speaker 3: if Mike Rabel got the say, the New York Jets
- 54:05Speaker 3: job with the Chicago Bears job, do you think Josh
- 54:07Speaker 3: McDaniels would be his offensive coordinator?
- 54:08Speaker 2: Heard this?
- 54:08Speaker 3: Why not? I don't think there's any.
- 54:10Speaker 5: Michael Felger dismisses that out of hand completely, And I
- 54:13Speaker 5: don't understand.
- 54:14Speaker 3: Pirie is the one who said it initially said why.
- 54:16Speaker 4: I don't get why.
- 54:17Speaker 3: Because I don't think that it would have been his pick.
- 54:19Speaker 3: Why because he didn't work with him. I think all
- 54:22Speaker 3: these guys that he's bringing into the staff he's got
- 54:25Speaker 3: connections to, except for Josh McDaniels.
- 54:28Speaker 4: Well, I don't know if that's true.
- 54:29Speaker 3: I mean, pretty true.
- 54:31Speaker 2: He doesn't have a coaching connection to him, but but
- 54:34Speaker 2: he has a familiarity with him, knows how he coached
- 54:37Speaker 2: the offense.
- 54:38Speaker 3: Is yeah, I mean for a couple of years.
- 54:42Speaker 5: But it's Josh McDaniels not an appealing I mean, I
- 54:45Speaker 5: know you're gonna.
- 54:45Speaker 4: I know you're gonna come back.
- 54:46Speaker 3: No, No, I'm not, I'm not. I'm just telling you
- 54:49Speaker 3: the two schools. I don't know. I know, I'm just present.
- 54:51Speaker 3: I'm presenting.
- 54:52Speaker 5: But I'm glad you brought this up because Felger did this,
- 54:54Speaker 5: And I'm like, why are we just completely dismissing wouldn't blame.
- 54:57Speaker 3: Felger for it.
- 55:00Speaker 4: That's where I heard it, That's where I heard it.
- 55:01Speaker 4: But why well, like he was just like absolutely.
- 55:04Speaker 2: Not the higher as he talks, since the higher.
- 55:06Speaker 3: Not that I'm away, let's here matter what he.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Says, Well, what's how he says it?
- 55:12Speaker 3: You know, like he's not yet he ain't gonna say this.
- 55:16Speaker 3: I didn't want him, of course not. But how how
- 55:18Speaker 3: how does my top pick turned us down? How do
- 55:20Speaker 3: I settled for Josh?
- 55:21Speaker 2: How does he answer the question?
- 55:23Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I don't There was no one else in
- 55:25Speaker 5: my mind Josh is that you know he's got And
- 55:28Speaker 5: if you had been.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Somewhere else, would you have brought Josh in?
- 55:30Speaker 3: Right?
- 55:31Speaker 5: But I mean the point though, is that at one
- 55:34Speaker 5: point Josh was the type type pants guy that everybody
- 55:36Speaker 5: had to have, actually at two points or three points
- 55:38Speaker 5: even when he went to Indie if you.
- 55:39Speaker 4: Want to count that too.
- 55:40Speaker 5: So I just don't get completely dismissing out of hand
- 55:43Speaker 5: that a guy who look, I'm sorry, I know we
- 55:45Speaker 5: can give all credit to Tom Brady for everything, but
- 55:48Speaker 5: he did in fact coach the greatest quarterback of all
- 55:51Speaker 5: time for a long time and was part of his development.
- 55:53Speaker 5: He head coached two teams, and look, I know it
- 55:55Speaker 5: wasn't great in Vegas, but they had some production there.
- 55:58Speaker 5: They had some productive right there.
- 55:59Speaker 2: That's so Brady turns around to Joshua points like and so.
- 56:03Speaker 5: It's fine you say other teams don't care for him
- 56:05Speaker 5: as much. But I just don't get how you dismiss
- 56:07Speaker 5: out of hand that, Oh my god, there's no way
- 56:09Speaker 5: that Jets would ever consider Josh McDaniels as their offensive
- 56:12Speaker 5: coordinator compared to who, like, who are they bringing in
- 56:14Speaker 5: right now?
- 56:15Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 56:16Speaker 4: These random names.
- 56:17Speaker 3: Are like all right, sure, but you don't think it
- 56:19Speaker 3: was the Jets wouldn't consider the Bears was the one
- 56:22Speaker 3: right Rabel? Would Rabel have hired Josh McDaniels as this
- 56:26Speaker 3: offensive coordinator if he went to the Jets or the Bears?
- 56:29Speaker 3: That's that's question.
- 56:30Speaker 4: Why I don't like, I don't think that's a connection
- 56:32Speaker 4: to him.
- 56:33Speaker 3: I gave you my answer. If I mean, that's.
- 56:35Speaker 5: Not allow myself to rant a little bit. I love
- 56:38Speaker 5: myself to introd, but that's like, this was like you're
- 56:41Speaker 5: I'm glad you brought it up, because that was like,
- 56:43Speaker 5: like why, Like, Josh has got a great resume, he's
- 56:46Speaker 5: just sitting out there.
- 56:46Speaker 3: He has a great he has a great resume with
- 56:49Speaker 3: Tom Brady.
- 56:50Speaker 4: Okay, well that's a pretty good resume.
- 56:51Speaker 2: He's a quarterback of all time.
- 56:53Speaker 3: But he didn't have he didn't have anything to do
- 56:55Speaker 3: with developing Tom Brady. He became the offensive coordinator when
- 56:58Speaker 3: Tom Brady had already won three titles. Well, and then
- 57:01Speaker 3: he had nothing to do with I don't buy that.
- 57:03Speaker 4: I don't buy that.
- 57:04Speaker 5: And right, he was way learn right, but at least
- 57:07Speaker 5: he's there with tom Brady, he's in front, he's learning everything.
- 57:09Speaker 3: He's under Bill Stretch.
- 57:11Speaker 5: So Tom Brady, Josh mctinals had no impact on tom
- 57:14Speaker 5: Brady at all. His development anything, nothing, his development developed
- 57:18Speaker 5: any time. Two thousand and four Times ended Charlie White.
- 57:21Speaker 5: Tom Brady at two thousand and four, and that was it.
- 57:24Speaker 4: That was who he was the rest of the time.
- 57:25Speaker 3: Nothing changed in two thousand and five.
- 57:27Speaker 5: Nothing changed in two thousand and seven, nothing at all.
- 57:29Speaker 5: That was Tom Brady, same thing. Tom Brady had already led.
- 57:32Speaker 3: The league in touchdown passes in two thousand and two.
- 57:34Speaker 4: I don't buy it. I get Josh credit. I give
- 57:36Speaker 4: him some credit. I'm not saying it's all him, but
- 57:37Speaker 4: I think I.
- 57:38Speaker 3: Didn't say I give him no credit. I don't give
- 57:40Speaker 3: him credit for developing Tom Bradley. But it's the difference.
- 57:42Speaker 2: I give him credit for adapting the Patriots offense in
- 57:45Speaker 2: seven to Randy Moss.
- 57:48Speaker 3: Sure, yeah, I don't.
- 57:49Speaker 4: I don't give him no credit setting offense like it.
- 57:52Speaker 3: But when he's had other guys, he hasn't been able
- 57:55Speaker 3: to be productive these guys, I think.
- 57:57Speaker 4: I think Devanta Yadams was what I was. This was
- 58:00Speaker 4: pretty big.
- 58:02Speaker 2: Put numbers the Raiders.
- 58:04Speaker 3: Yes they won games, all right.
- 58:06Speaker 5: We're not talking about winning games.
- 58:07Speaker 4: Were they productive or not?
- 58:08Speaker 3: They mean they had one of the five worst offenses
- 58:11Speaker 3: in history in Saint Louis.
- 58:13Speaker 4: Okay, but what who's Sam Bradford?
- 58:15Speaker 3: Yes, so he expected Sam Bradford's better than Jimmy Garoppolo.
- 58:18Speaker 5: All right, So he didn't make magic happen with Sam
- 58:20Speaker 5: Bradford and he can't coach now and he rode Tom
- 58:23Speaker 5: Brady's coach couldn't.
- 58:24Speaker 3: Make magic happen, or he couldn't get a first down
- 58:26Speaker 3: like there's a difference.
- 58:29Speaker 2: Well, the one thing I will say for Josh is
- 58:31Speaker 2: that for whatever reason, and you know, these guys talk,
- 58:35Speaker 2: they there's a lot of behind the scenes chatter that
- 58:39Speaker 2: goes on about coaches among the league, you know, inter
- 58:43Speaker 2: interleague talk. So if guys are doing a good job,
- 58:47Speaker 2: it gets talked about, like behind the scenes. I'm not
- 58:49Speaker 2: talking through the media. And two teams really wanted Josh
- 58:53Speaker 2: McDaniels to be their head coach. Now he failed as
- 58:56Speaker 2: a head coach, but they really wanted him for whatever reason.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Now you can say it's just because he had success
- 59:02Speaker 2: with Tom Brady. That could be, but usually other things
- 59:06Speaker 2: get taught, you know, known among you know the NFL network, like, yeah,
- 59:12Speaker 2: he was really good. But Brady really says good things
- 59:14Speaker 2: about him. He knows what he's talking about, He's innovative,
- 59:17Speaker 2: you know those types of things, And that could be
- 59:20Speaker 2: the reason why two teams really push to have him
- 59:23Speaker 2: be their head coach.
- 59:24Speaker 5: Wasn't three three Indie Denver?
- 59:27Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I'm counting Indye Denver and the Raiders. Oh
- 59:30Speaker 2: in the RAIDI you're right, yeah, so three teams.
- 59:32Speaker 3: I'm just going by the results and I listen, we
- 59:37Speaker 3: talked about this last week, but he might not. This
- 59:39Speaker 3: is not a should they have hired Josh mctael's an
- 59:42Speaker 3: offensive coord Now, I think that that's a perfectly fine hire.
- 59:45Speaker 3: I am not excited about it, but I'm fine with it.
- 59:51Speaker 3: I'm this is kind of a separate thing that Mike
- 59:53Speaker 3: and I are bickering about, which I'm here for, by
- 59:56Speaker 3: the way, because we never bicker. Yeah, I like Okay,
- 59:58Speaker 3: I do too. I think that there is an argument
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: to be made. I don't know the answer because it's
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: an unknowable fact. I think there's an argument to be
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: made with Phil Perry said that if he had gotten
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: the Bears job, this would not be Mike Rabel's pick
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: for offensive coordinator. There's no way of knowing. Mike could
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: be right. Why wouldn't he take Josh mccenials as his
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: offensive coordinator? Maybe they would have been the best option.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: Yeah, now I don't know.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: I don't know that, but I think an argument could
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: be made. That's all.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Absolutely, I agree with that, But there could be another
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: layer as to why that could be so. Because Josh
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: had such bad results as the head coach and then
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: backing out of the Colt's job, his reputation among the
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: league might be a little tainted. Yeah, and so Rabel
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: would know, or maybe the owner who he's working with
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: on this new team like the Bears, would know. Fans
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: aren't going to really like this. Is there someone else
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: you could bring in that maybe has a more neutral
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: or better reputation than Josh McDaniels. Where As in New
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: England we all love Josh McDaniels. I mean, we don't
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: care what happened with the Colts and the Rams and
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: and the Raiders so.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: Here and Mike and I love Josh McDaniels. He's been
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: very good. But don't but don't discount that. That's God's
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: That's why people love them, because we all like Josh.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: But that But what I'm saying is the layer of
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: not bringing him to another team in another market could
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: be as part of that as much of it as
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: it is for his ability.
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I get the toxicity that might exist based on
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: the Indianapolis thing, And look, it didn't work out in
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: Denver and and and the Raiders, and it kind of
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: crashed and burned to an extent in both of those places.
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: But I also just have trouble wrapping my head around
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: that that this guy's kind of seen as and I'm
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: just you know, seen as a pariah and just somebody
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: who was kind of here and he had the greatest
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: coach ahead time. It's not that I don't know, he's
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: not that league, Like, is that a perspective, I don't.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: I don't, But I don't think people that are sizing
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: the hire or saying he's a like you know, I.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: Think people are criticizing the higher. They're compromising there there.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: He's a good offensive coordinator, familiar.
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: He's a good offensive coordinator. I would say he's not
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: a good head coach, but he's a good offense.
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: Yeah, And that's the last thing I would say. It's just,
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: you know what an opportunity for him though, to you know,
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: put this stuff to.
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: Rest, you know that.
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: But for Josh, it's obviously a place that he's comfortable,
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: but it's really a new opportunity for him to kind
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: of you know, cement his legacy and build it outside
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: of the guy that you know, did have three kind
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: of bad hedge coaching situations outside of here, and now
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: he can maybe come back and maybe develop Drake May
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: and evolve his offense and you know, take another player
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: to that level and really kind of prove, you know
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: what I'm trying to say, that that the guys you know,
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: a good coach and that he should be desirable around
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: the league instead of, you know, the flavor of the
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: month where William Cohen now is going to be the
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: coach of the Jaguars, And all right, we'll roll the
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: dice on that one and see how it goes bad.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: Look, cringe, whoa, that was bad?
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: Andre and New Jersey. At what point the AFC's East
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: stopped helping out the Kansas City Chiefs, especially the Patriots
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: and the Bills. Let me count the ways on how
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: these two teams have made the beach down. Twenty seventeen,
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: Patrick Bill's take a dre to trade down, the Chiefs
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: pick Mahomes. Bills take a dre to trade down. The
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: Chiefs picked Mahomes.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: I don't know they what he was trying to say there,
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: but the Bills made the trade with the Chiefs that
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: allowed the Chiefs to pick.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Twenty twenty one, Patriots decided not to resign Joe Toney.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: The Chiefs gave him a massive deal. Twenty twenty two
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: Patriots decided to move out of their twenty third overall
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: pick and gave it to the Chiefs, which turned out
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: to be Trent McDuffie twenty four. Bills decided to move
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: out of the first round and the Chiefs moved up
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: and took Xavier Worthy. Pretty sure there are others that
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: have happened, but you guys get the point.
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: That's I mean, it's a great example of you can say, yeah,
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: the Chiefs drafted well, but I think they also were
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: aggressive and going to get the guys that they wanted,
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: and they got guys that could play, and it wasn't
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: you know, There's been times when you trade up and
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: it's you know, maybe hit or miss, But but those
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: guys have all worked out. And I mean, really, other
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: than Tony, who are there other big and I mean
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: there's probably a couple I'm just blanking on, but who
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: are there other big free agency edition contributors? You know,
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: I think a lot of the core of their team
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: has really been drafted and developed, but you know, some
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: key spots you fill in with free agency.
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: That's how you Oh my god, I was gonna bring
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: him up.
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: Can you believe it?
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: Like I don't really tweet anymore, but like that was
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: something I'm like that guy did nothing but drop passes
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: and looked disinterested in Patriots training camp.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: And now not here for that.
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: But I was even playing, like, I just don't like
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: the guy I saw out there seemed washed, he could
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: not play, and I know he caught.
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: The big one. To me on those is the worthy one,
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: and not because I think were these great player or or.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Not fast the Bills.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: The Bills planned on and wanted badly to draft a
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: wide receiver and yet just decided we can trade with
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: somebody else and just get it was a Bill moved
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: that was that was a Belichick trade. Yeah, sure, Now
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: vintage Belichick Keyon Coleman will end up being light years
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: better than the other guys that got taken Worthy and Legette, right,
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: because those are the guys that the Bills traded down
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: twice because they they ended up drafting Keyon Coleman. That
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: would be the narrative, but more recent Bill Belichick, those
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: guys would be DK Metcalf, Deebo Samuel and Terry McLaurin
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: to you and Nikil Harry, you know, so we'll see
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: how it goes to the Bills. That's the one I
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: think you can really question, Brandon Bean, like you wanted
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: a wide receiver, why don't you just take the one
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: that you like the best. Now you're gonna argue with
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: me and tell me that what we liked Keon Coleman
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: the best, so we can get I don't believe that, don't.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: And I think ke On Coleman will be fine. I
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: think he's had I think he had a pretty solid
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: rookie year, but I don't think he has the upside
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: of a guy like Worthy. I think Worthy can be
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: dynam well now I do.
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: I mean early in the season, I thought Worthy was
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: a speak guy. But I mean the way he's playing
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: tough and I just kind of joking but serious too.
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: Contested catches like pitch comparison to the Patriots and Christian
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: Benford goes out in the first quarter and they absolutely
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: tormented Kyer.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: They went after him.
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: That's exactly what what Brady and Belichick would have over again.
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: I'll give you Brady and Joshua McDermott.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: I love it. Mcdermoty and said it in his interviews,
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: are kind of going after him.
- 1:06:28Speaker 12: You know.
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: I love that openness, you know, like this is what's happening.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: You know, it's no secret, Ford and Savannah. Three thoughts
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: from over the weekend Wondering the PU opinion. Number one,
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: Kansas City is good, complaining about the rest by Patriots
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: fans pretty bad, Petty and Baddie says. Number two the
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: rough sock can't wait for AI to replace them all.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: Number three going for two. Down by two early in games,
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: came back to bite teams. Every point counts and puts
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: you in a bad position later in the game. Take
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: the one, even if you're down by two in the
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: first half, at least maybe even in the first three quarters.
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: I think this, I'd like to break it down. I'd
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: like to get into the nitty gritty of you know,
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: there's all kinds of individual things that we complain about
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: with the rest, spotting of the ball, the you know,
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: the calls on the quarterback, all that kind of stuff,
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: like you know, and it's not just make them full
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: time and everything will be fine.
- 1:07:22Speaker 9: You know.
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: I think there is an element of technology that could
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: come into play that we talked.
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: Frank, I don't know if it's food's coming back.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: You know way more about this crap than me and
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: Mike do. This technology. You know that there's been a
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: chip in the ball. No, there's been a chip in
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: the ball since I think six maybe seventeen, twenty seventeen.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: What would present I come to you, because you know
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: all about the tennis and the you know the linesman
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: or you know, basically irrelevant tennis now, is it? Because
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: there's nothing in the way that it works.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: I think that's it. I think in order to make
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: it work when you have huddled masses of players there,
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: you know the number of angles that you would need
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: talking to that ship triangulation. Yeah, I think it would
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: cost a lot of money, which you know again, let's
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: then have a bake sale and we'll help pay for it.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: It's it comes down to the will of the owners
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: to make sure that they're spending the money to do it.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: It has to be obviously the same in every park,
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: no matter what you know. Prime Time can't be any
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: different than a one o'clock game. You have to have
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: that same technology for every game. And then what happens
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: during the game, if something breaks.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: Can it be done? Do you think that? Do you
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: think the technology exists where we have a chip in
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: the ball, we can tell definitively electronically that whether or
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: not Josh Allen got the forty.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: I think helpful I come to you with one, I
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: don't come. I don't come.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: Obviously, if there's if there's nobody around. They're doing it
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: in tennis right now.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: You know exactly like I mean, it's amazing sliver.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: I mean, you talk about the credit card you know thing,
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: it's even less than that that they're calling these balls
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: in and out in tennis. So obviously the technology works
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: with just lasers. There's no chips and tennis balls. They're
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: doing it without ship It's just a laser that that
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: I'm with my I'm intrigued about the technology. Can they
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: make it?
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: I don't think the simple lasers can work. So now
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: you're talking about something talking to the chip and all
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: that stuff or if I whatever it is. You know,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: I know with Wi Fi, the biggest one of the
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: biggest things that impede Wi Fi singles is water. And
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: people are full of water, like eighty percent water. So
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: when you have you know, ten guys who yea thousands
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: of pounds of water, I would imagine that would interrupt
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: any signal that's trying to talk about a.
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: Yeah, it's just there's I mean, there's so many that
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: are controversial at a variety of Like I said, and
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: can you just start checking little boxes off because I
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: don't think making them, you know, like I said, making
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: them full time or having everything reviewable.
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: You'll tell you what we should do. The company that
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: does all this chip stuff is Zebra Technologies. Maybe we
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: should get somebody on the phone from Zebra just talk
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: about it, like this is possible. Yeah, yeah, you know,
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: maybe they're like, yeah, we've got the technology, we're just
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: waiting for the league to you know, open the.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: And like I said, they've had a chip in the
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: ball for a while, and I think some of the
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: spring leagues have further explored how to utilize that technology.
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: I mean, I'm just spit on here, but what if
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: it's like the distance the bout ball traveled rather than
- 1:10:42Speaker 5: trying to like get it to cross over.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: But remember, it's just that tip of the nose that
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: has to break that imaginary plane, so it has to
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: be really precise.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: And I know a lot of people have talked about
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: like like that play with Josh. Well, you know, then
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: you have to worry when you know, when was this
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: progress stop? When did the nego down, but like you
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: should be able to tract that data like and say,
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: here's the initial hit and here's the initial push forward.
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: I think Ki Kage is the one that actually pushed
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: Allen in my view, past the line to gain. You'd
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: have that like when it happened in the play, and
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: then you could see the you know, there was other
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: data that said it was back and forth.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: Not only do you so you have the chip and
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: like Paul said, you would be able to have that
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: freeze frame of exactly when they tell you when the
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: players ruled down and where the ball is at time.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: But in order to make it work, you have to
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: replace the little, you know, plastic thing on the ground,
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: and you have to replace the sideline marking with with
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: a laser or you know something that is matching up
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: to your freeze frame.
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: Well, I'm just I'm picturing and you all know the
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: tennis view when they do the replay, and you know,
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: it's like a like when you imagine a virtual gridiron
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: and the players, the players are gone and all you
- 1:11:59Speaker 5: see is the ball.
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: You see like a plane going up across the field.
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: And then as you know, as soon as you see
- 1:12:04Speaker 5: that ball and it's sponsored.
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it's sponsored. More money. All right, We're gonna take
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: a break because my food's here. Mike brought a sandwich yet, Yeah,
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: so good for Mike. We'll be right back.
- 1:12:20Speaker 12: Isn't it time to get exactly what you want? Welcome
- 1:12:23Speaker 12: to red Hot Deal Days from Verizon, where you get

- 1:13:27Speaker 14: Matt Smith, along with Paul Frillo, please to be joined
- 1:13:30Speaker 14: by number twenty eight. Can you believe that number twenty eight?
- 1:13:33Speaker 10: It is?
- 1:13:33Speaker 14: It great to see Corey Dylon here.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: Corey, thanks for joining us, man, thanks for having me.
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: Really appreciate it. It's great to see you. It's been a while.
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: I know you came back in December.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: I think last year.
- 1:13:45Speaker 14: You're here today, you're going into the Bengals Ring of
- 1:13:49Speaker 14: Honor or Hall of Fame. It seems like you're reconnecting
- 1:13:52Speaker 14: with the franchises that you played with, and that's got
- 1:13:54Speaker 14: to make you feel great.
- 1:13:55Speaker 9: Yeah, it's been a long time coming. I kind of
- 1:13:59Speaker 9: went off the the reservation the same for for many years.
- 1:14:05Speaker 9: So just just getting back and coming back around the
- 1:14:10Speaker 9: organizations a it's a good feeling.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: So the full disclosure, we did try to get you
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: in December too. That's one of our one of our
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: few failures. Yes, yes, you're right, Paul, we didn't get
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: them the first time around. But it is great. I
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: would echo what Matt said. You know, we're going to
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: get into the two thousand and four season, but that
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: is a that is one that I think has a
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: special place in the heart of a lot of people
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: in this area. That that twenty and four team was
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: a special team, and you know, I'm really looking forward
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: to getting some of your man.
- 1:14:38Speaker 9: It was. It was great to be a part of
- 1:14:40Speaker 9: that team. Man, there's so many Hall of Fame caliber
- 1:14:45Speaker 9: players on that team. It's it's it's crazy. That's that's
- 1:14:49Speaker 9: one of the favorite teams out of my whole career
- 1:14:52Speaker 9: I played for. And dude, I had a great time.
- 1:14:55Speaker 9: That was that was one hell of a run.
- 1:14:56Speaker 14: So let's get to it here at April, it's before
- 1:14:59Speaker 14: the draft, right, were there conversations going on. Did you
- 1:15:03Speaker 14: think that that was a possibility.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: Or did it catch you off guard?
- 1:15:07Speaker 9: No, Man, to be honest, I'm at home. I'm thinking
- 1:15:10Speaker 9: like worst case scenario type things. So I'm thinking, like, man,
- 1:15:13Speaker 9: I may have to sit out a year or whatever.
- 1:15:17Speaker 9: I think. I think the Raiders were real serious about
- 1:15:21Speaker 9: bringing me in, and and that was that was my
- 1:15:23Speaker 9: first first option, and that's what I was thinking, like, Man,
- 1:15:27Speaker 9: I might be going to Oakland. So to actually get
- 1:15:31Speaker 9: the call from my agent was like and he told
- 1:15:34Speaker 9: me like this, he was just like, pack a back
- 1:15:36Speaker 9: we're going to Boston, and I said for what, you know,
- 1:15:40Speaker 9: I don't like for what we were going to bost for.
- 1:15:42Speaker 9: And he just told me, Ben, shut up, just pack
- 1:15:44Speaker 9: a back and meet me at the airport. So actually
- 1:15:49Speaker 9: coming down here and and meeting with Bill and Scott Pioli. Man,
- 1:15:53Speaker 9: we had a great conversation and it was simple. Man,
- 1:15:56Speaker 9: it didn't take that long. It was just like, hey,
- 1:15:58Speaker 9: you know, what, do you think you could play for us?
- 1:16:02Speaker 9: I said absolutely. We shook hands and that was that
- 1:16:05Speaker 9: was it, and the rest is history.
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: So at the end in Cincinnati, you know, we we
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: you know, we're only watching from afar, you know, so
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: we're seeing the highlights where you know, we're hearing the
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: you know, the chatter, and we were like, well, does
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: this guy really want to play? But it got to
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: the point where it was so bad for you with
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: that organization that you you felt strongly enough as you
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: just said that you you thought you might just sit
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: out rather than play for them again. It must have
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: been it must have felt like a rebirth to come
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: here and play for play for the Patriots.
- 1:16:36Speaker 9: Oh dude, it was so refreshing, you know, just coming
- 1:16:40Speaker 9: from the situation I came in, we were at ends
- 1:16:44Speaker 9: odds ends about just what transpired that whole year. So,
- 1:16:49Speaker 9: you know what, I'm coming off an injury and and
- 1:16:53Speaker 9: just some of the stuff that was going on during
- 1:16:55Speaker 9: that year, I mean just compounded the situation. So actually
- 1:16:59Speaker 9: to get a fresh new start and actually come to
- 1:17:04Speaker 9: an organization that winning is everything, I embraced that. That's
- 1:17:09Speaker 9: what I wanted to do.
- 1:17:09Speaker 14: Did you have any preconceived notions? I mean, it feels
- 1:17:12Speaker 14: like it's almost like a get out of jail free
- 1:17:14Speaker 14: card for you. Maybe you'd have accepted to go any
- 1:17:16Speaker 14: places be yeah, but.
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: Here you're coming to the defending super Bowl champions.
- 1:17:23Speaker 14: You don't know anything about the organization other than they're
- 1:17:26Speaker 14: the defending champs. What was your feeling coming in.
- 1:17:29Speaker 9: Ah, Man, that was a lot of anxiety, to be
- 1:17:31Speaker 9: honest with you, because you don't know what to expect.
- 1:17:33Speaker 9: They already got something in place and they're rolling, and
- 1:17:37Speaker 9: then you got this. You got this notion of like
- 1:17:40Speaker 9: what they really need me for? They just want the
- 1:17:42Speaker 9: super Bowl, you know what I mean. So I think
- 1:17:45Speaker 9: I think some people think it's easy to be traded
- 1:17:50Speaker 9: to a super Bowl champion. Man, there's more pressure on
- 1:17:52Speaker 9: you to make your mark and to contribute to that
- 1:17:57Speaker 9: to that team. So I mean, I I embraced that
- 1:18:00Speaker 9: situation as well. I just wanted to come in and
- 1:18:03Speaker 9: you know, do my part. And for the most part, man,
- 1:18:08Speaker 9: my teammates were great. They accepted me, the organization accepted me.
- 1:18:12Speaker 9: Bill let me do my theme, man, So it kind
- 1:18:14Speaker 9: of worked out.
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: So that's interesting that you had some anxiety coming in,
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: Really interesting, right, So what was you know, what you
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: said that they really accepted you. What was the moment
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: that you sort of felt accepted.
- 1:18:26Speaker 9: Well, hey, some of these players already knew, right, so
- 1:18:31Speaker 9: that that kind of that kind of bridged the gap
- 1:18:33Speaker 9: of getting comfortable.
- 1:18:35Speaker 14: Meaning that you could play like in two thousand and
- 1:18:39Speaker 14: one they had to face in you know.
- 1:18:42Speaker 9: Kinis Yeah, So I mean just breaking the eyes and
- 1:18:45Speaker 9: getting to know these guys, and I mean just coming
- 1:18:48Speaker 9: here doing training camp and us joking around and getting
- 1:18:53Speaker 9: familiar with each other, we kind of, you know, everybody
- 1:18:55Speaker 9: was just like, oh okay, so some of the things
- 1:18:58Speaker 9: I hear ain't what they are, you know what I mean.
- 1:19:01Speaker 9: So yeah, I mean I'm pretty sure coming in due
- 1:19:07Speaker 9: to the fact that left Cincinnati, they were like, can
- 1:19:12Speaker 9: we trust him. Can is he gonna be able to
- 1:19:14Speaker 9: feel any with us? Can he does? You know? Just
- 1:19:16Speaker 9: things like that of that nature and just coming in
- 1:19:19Speaker 9: and they seeing my personality like I'm just like them,
- 1:19:22Speaker 9: I think kind of broke the eyes and we started
- 1:19:25Speaker 9: we started yelling, and they let me do my thing.
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: So there was an acclamation period.
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: And now great moments in.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: History.
- 1:19:39Speaker 15: Here's what I would like you to adopt on unfiltered
- 1:19:42Speaker 15: and every other thing that you do in here, god
- 1:19:44Speaker 15: knows what during the week, take a little more zen
- 1:19:47Speaker 15: approach and.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: You're in the moment.
- 1:19:49Speaker 15: Whatever you're doing, you do, we have it's fuel. How
- 1:19:53Speaker 15: about eleven minutes?
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: Does that is that?
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: Egregious?
- 1:19:56Speaker 10: Is eleven minutes in the whole day. See here's the thing.
- 1:20:00Speaker 10: His work day is four hours. Our work day is
- 1:20:02Speaker 10: ten hours. Yeah, that's what he doesn't understand. That's what
- 1:20:06Speaker 10: he doesn't understand.
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: Works more than does that?
- 1:20:09Speaker 15: Does that include when I'm here doing the rabs, where
- 1:20:11Speaker 15: I'm doing my statell.
- 1:20:13Speaker 10: A single day on a single day, a single day,
- 1:20:15Speaker 10: not here to do the podcast slash radio show.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: We're here to do other things. We throw that in
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: for our fans. Let's carr let our fans understand that
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: we need to eat.
- 1:20:24Speaker 15: Let's you and I both carry a little personal work.
- 1:20:27Speaker 15: Mater believe in UFOs, Hardy and you just let's talk
- 1:20:30Speaker 15: about UFOs.
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: You know what I'm going there.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: Comes on our show and Scott's criticizing around that.
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: Was that a postgame show?
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: I believe it was.
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: Yeah, actually, Fred, if you don't mind, I know, we
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: just ran the Cory Dylan thing. I just wanted to
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: tease my two thousand and four h podcast that's coming up.
- 1:20:55Speaker 5: So me and Matter are working diligently on that will
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: be out in the next couple of weeks. But a
- 1:20:59Speaker 5: lot of fum got Paul back back again, and I'm excited.
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: I don't think I made any mistakes this.
- 1:21:03Speaker 5: Time, no id No, But one more interview that we're
- 1:21:06Speaker 5: going to add in, and I'm going to get to
- 1:21:08Speaker 5: talk to Matt Patricia on Friday. That year was first
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: year coaching assistant with the team, So a bunch of interviews,
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: new perspectives on two thousand and four.
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: It's been cool going back.
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: So mu Sech just really slim down. Yeah, he looks
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: great pickleball and no stress. That's alliball and stress. Okay,
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: so we'll get one of those.
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, back to the calls and emails podcasts
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: at Patriots dot com is the email address tpx hutline
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: is eight five to five Pats five hundred. Tony in
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: pot In UK loves the shows. I know you don't
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: like talking about soccer, but they have goal line technology
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: in the English Premier League and it works really well.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: Doesn't matter how many players are in the way, they
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: can figure out whether the ball did or did not
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: cross the line.
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, yeah, I just I'm not but isn't it
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: like overhead.
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: It's overhead and so you don't have a million guys
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: standing over the ball at the line, you know what
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: I mean that off.
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: Side and he I think there's got to be a
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: wet The email is right, I'm gonna think this's gotta
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: be I'm not poo pooing it.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: I'm just saying I'm not there's a difference with with
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: what they're doing in soccer and what needs to be
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: done with football.
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: Does not generally pile up, you know, piles of humanity
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: and the goal.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: What I think we should always we should get somebody
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: from Zebra technologies on the line and talk about it. Yeah,
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: talk about if we.
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: Did do that at the break, but evidently you had
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: to eat.
- 1:22:35Speaker 5: Wouldn't it just be great though, you know, like all right,
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: let's go to the thing and they just put it
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: up on the stadium and there it is.
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: The ball is in.
- 1:22:40Speaker 5: It's a touchdown or no it did not, it's not
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: a touchdown. There's no complaints, there's no arguments.
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: You know where the ball was. And it's funny about
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: that play. I'm even thinking back, like I saw the
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: guy running in from the bottom and I saw the
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: guy running in from the top, and okay, so they're
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: clearly not on the same page. And I was like,
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: they're gonna make McDermott waste challenge on this. And then
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: they did replay assist instead. They just went to challenge
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: it on and all they didn't make it and I
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: was like, they're going to get it right, yeah, and
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: they didn't get it right.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: Well, it's just like, yeah, Adam and Louisiana Tennis doesn't
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: use the chip in the ball for replay. Yeah, we
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: said that it uses cameras all around the court to
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: triangulate where the ball is. That's not possible in the
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: NFL due to the players blocking it. The chip in
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: the ball makes it possible, but the ball is a
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: weird shape, so it's hard to know if any point
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: of the ball crosses the line. Plus, there are many
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: factors that go into ending a play. The player has
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: to be down and contacted by another player or know
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: when the ref blows the whistle. It has to all
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: match up to the time of the clock. It would
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: slow the game down immensely.
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: Tie.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: I disagree with that is always a way.
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: I disagree with that last part because we're not talking
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: about doing this on every play, right, Like you're going
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: to have to live with some inconsistencies and inaccuracies on
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: spotting the ball on a down to down basis. But
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: when games on the line, like a play like that,
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: you need to look at it.
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: I wonder Howdy would feel about it.
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: I know it's such a thing about like the goal
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: angles around the world, and you know it's like all
- 1:24:10Speaker 5: his problems with like breaking the goal line.
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: So he's not one with the chip. Right Does the
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: chip just get recorded? No matter like where it's situated
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: in the ball.
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: It looks like it each side of the ball belly
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: and at the belly.
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: So now three chips.
- 1:24:29Speaker 5: But couldn't you just have a chip that you're programmed
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: to know the shape of the ball. So if the
- 1:24:33Speaker 5: chip is here, it knows where the dimensions of the
- 1:24:35Speaker 5: ball are from that one chip. You know, like it's
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: always going to get in the same spot. It's not
- 1:24:39Speaker 5: bouncing around inside the thing. It's you know, stationary in
- 1:24:42Speaker 5: the middle, and it knows.
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: It goes six inches out this way.
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: It's six inches.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: If it's seeing the chip here, then that means the
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: other part of the ball has to be here. Okay,
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: I could I could talk to Zebra write that script.
- 1:24:55Speaker 5: We'll talk to Zebra Technologies about that.
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: That's probably the bottom line. We need someone that actually
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: knows what they're talking about.
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: Like some secretary like.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: Rosemary writes in from Brazil. It's on everyone's lips that
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: the team that plays in Brazil is going to the
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: Super Bowl. So, mister Kraft, do your thing. A dumb question,
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: what do you mean when you say tighte pants coaches?
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: Because the literary translation in my head gets me every time.
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: To be young offensive hot shots that yeah, and a
- 1:25:28Speaker 5: lot of them just happened to be sort of good
- 1:25:30Speaker 5: looking guys that are in great shape.
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: So we they wear these tighte pants.
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: We've kind of, yeah, you know, we've kind of morphed
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: that into these type pants young tight pants guys.
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: Look at McDaniel, who is the head coach of Miami.
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: He's a tight pants guy. He actually wears almost like Capripo.
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: Prolls him up. I wouldn't put him in qualify him
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: as a good looking guy. He's a weird looking.
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: But he's one of the type pants guys.
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: Yes, he's definitely like Sean Fay is probably the grandfather.
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: Yeah, the Brazil one, didn't they make a is that
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: Miami playing in Brazil and.
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: They would announced Brazil?
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: Yet? I thought they did. I thought they announced the
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: home team for two of the games.
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: Was it Madrid?
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: No, I'm not sure. I thought Madrid.
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: They announced Spain.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: I thought Madrid was still open. I was kind of
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: hoping for that one.
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they announced one of the teams in Spain.
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: You big in Spain? Can you out there?
- 1:26:22Speaker 9: Oh?
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: What what's.
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: Doin's got?
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: The Madrid game?
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: The Madrid game?
- 1:26:30Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: Madrid?
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: Okay, so there is no nobody for Brazili.
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: Still hasn't been announced yet. Okay, yeah, Curtis and Saint
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: Louis writes in a few quick questions, Paul correct me
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: if I'm wrong. Earlier in the season, I believe you
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: said you felt May had a higher ceiling than Jayde
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: and Daniel's long term I did wondering if you still
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: feel the same. I still do. Do you still feel
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: the same higher ceiling for Drake May.
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: That's tough.
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: Daniels keeps keeps doing it, he keeps salivating.
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: He's absolutely right. I did say that for now. I'm
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: gonna air on the side. This has been my Homer show.
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna stick with my Homer if my
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: homrrific view and say yes, but I'm not gonna lie.
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: Daniels has exceeded what I thought he could do.
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: I just wonder if there's something to other defensive coordinators
- 1:27:23Speaker 5: getting a beat on him. I mean, I think he's
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: really talented and it's going to be a nightmare to
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: defend anyway. But and then just the unknown his injuries
- 1:27:29Speaker 5: with his frame, like you know, and those are things
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: you can't product.
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: It's just a bad hit.
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: But in terms of ability, he just keeps getting better
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: and better. And I like his composure and his comportment.
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: That's I think he's a real leader.
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: That's the part that I like. You know, like and
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: again you don't know those things, but that to me
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: is what is separated and Mike, you talked about it earlier.
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: You know just about these guys and you don't know
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: the killers. When the game is on the line, he
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: is fourth down.
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: It slows down on the line. Second, what's your thoughts
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: on the Patriots trading a fifth or six for Christian
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: Kirk as wide receiver too. I think he'd be a
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: great addition that on top of getting a true wide
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: receiver like Higgins Metcap Brown, et cetera, would really weaponize
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: the offense.
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: I like it.
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: If he's healthy, sure, yeah, And I'm pretty much opened to anything.
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: I've always liked Christian Kirk and that would be a
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: good price. I mean, fifth to sixth round pick. Absolutely.
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: Back to the phones, the TPS headline eighty five to
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: five Pats five hundred. Eldred has been hanging on for
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: a while. What's up, Eldred? Back on the road?
- 1:28:38Speaker 7: Good, Yeah, I'm on the road. I'm on the side
- 1:28:41Speaker 7: of the road right now. Broke down, Oh, I thought
- 1:28:45Speaker 7: you were.
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: Going to say you were doing with Paul did on
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: the side of the road.
- 1:28:50Speaker 7: I don't think so. I don't think, but that two
- 1:28:54Speaker 7: thousand and four, two thousand and seven was my best
- 1:28:56Speaker 7: best two kings. I'll see it for two seven two
- 1:29:00Speaker 7: even though we didn't we didn't complete the deal, but boy,
- 1:29:03Speaker 7: that was my type of fit. But got a question
- 1:29:07Speaker 7: for you, Like everybody talked about last weeks, what you
- 1:29:13Speaker 7: call couldn't beat the Bills and Alan can't beat mahomes?
- 1:29:18Speaker 7: Do they still fit the same thing? And with my
- 1:29:20Speaker 7: home still to go over both of them? Or is
- 1:29:23Speaker 7: it just was it them guys? But it's just supporting
- 1:29:27Speaker 7: casts around them, That's what I'm want to know. And
- 1:29:30Speaker 7: now I take it off their hair. Thanks y'all, have
- 1:29:32Speaker 7: a good day.
- 1:29:33Speaker 4: I didn't follow that one.
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: Supporting casts for who? For Alan?
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: Yeah? I mean I think that the Bills were good
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: enough to beat the Chiefs this year, but they clearly reseat.
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: This is what you know, the basis of you know,
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: the bickering that you and I do, which is not
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: really an argument because we kind of joke about it.
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: The whole window closed anything. I think the window couldn't
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: be any more open for Buffalo Allen, they'll be because
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: they just sort of reset and still went to the
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: AC Championship. They kind of did what the Patriots did
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: in six. Yeah, you know, whereas they kind of like
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: got some guys, you know, move some guys around, and
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: you know some some older guys are gone. It's kind
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: of a like a you know, in a recess. They
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: have a chance to be a lot better on paper
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: next year than they are this year. We think it.
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: I'd be I'd be shocked if they're not better on paper.
- 1:30:28Speaker 5: Do you think of the experience James Cook got this
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: year with a breakout year, Shakir kind of a breakout year,
- 1:30:32Speaker 5: Keon Coleman probably gonna be better in year two, and
- 1:30:35Speaker 5: then you supplement around those guys.
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: They're gonna add to those guys. So you know, i'd
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: be I'd be surprised if they didn't ye defensively, especially Yeah,
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: keep adding.
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: Dan and Virginia and Michigan. What's up Dan?
- 1:30:49Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: Fred.
- 1:30:50Speaker 16: The chase really seemed to be to the Bills what
- 1:30:52Speaker 16: the Patriots were that the Manning cults. So you know
- 1:30:55Speaker 16: what that means. The Bills never gonna get over hump
- 1:30:57Speaker 16: until like pumping the flu and the craft.
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: No oil, right, good point right, good point.
- 1:31:04Speaker 16: Two questions coming out of the coaching highs made within
- 1:31:08Speaker 16: the last couple of days, this biak the Ribels stature
- 1:31:13Speaker 16: in the league that he can bring in coaches like
- 1:31:16Speaker 16: Maron or is that more likely due to this Mayo's
- 1:31:20Speaker 16: choice last year rather than necessarily Marone not wanting to come.
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: And uh, you could argue that like bringing in.
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: You know, McAdoo kind of point didn't the same things
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: last year? We didn't like the guys they chose. Yeah,
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: there's a difference.
- 1:31:38Speaker 16: Yeah, that's fair.
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:31:41Speaker 16: The other question I have, and it was kind of
- 1:31:43Speaker 16: a little different to the discussion and the viewpoint what
- 1:31:46Speaker 16: was was going for before my question with the offensive
- 1:31:50Speaker 16: stuff that's coming in under McDaniels, is is that kind
- 1:31:54Speaker 16: of customary for an offensive coordinator not to choose his
- 1:31:57Speaker 16: own stuff? And does it say something about rather than
- 1:32:00Speaker 16: McDaniel's being forced on Brabel, that Brabel has either some
- 1:32:05Speaker 16: reservations or just is looking to advance the Patriots offensive
- 1:32:09Speaker 16: game and he's and so he's picking the guy's defensive
- 1:32:14Speaker 16: stuff rather than McDaniels picking his own stuff.
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: Well, I'm sure that he didn't consult with McDaniels and say, hey,
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: I've got this guy in mine. What do you think
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: of him? McDaniel's like, yeah, no, that's fine with me.
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know, I don't I don't
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: know if anything was full.
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: I think that's that's the crux of the Mike and
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: I bickering.
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: But here's the other thing, and like, again, we love Josh,
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: but you were at Saint Louis, you're at the Raiders.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: Do people on that staff have a sour feeling about
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: their head coach? The assistant coaches? Like, is there anyone
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: from those staffs that Josh workworth that he wants to
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: bring with him? You know, like, what is that? What
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: does his network look like?
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: It's a weird thing for me because I'm with Mike
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: and the premise that you had, I'm I was glad
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: to see it's not Mick Lombardy and you know, just
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: gonna get all the same guys and Josh's guys there
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: are different voices. I think that's a good thing. Yeah,
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: for sure. Now the flip side of that is, thanks,
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: Josh wanted those guys, but he got overruled, Vrabel said,
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: but you can't have them.
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I don't know.
- 1:33:18Speaker 5: I mean, I think to Fred's point earlier, it's it'll
- 1:33:21Speaker 5: be interesting to hear from Vrabel. We'll hear from him
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: in the coming days, I'm sure, and the next month
- 1:33:24Speaker 5: that you know, how what was his philosophy kind of
- 1:33:27Speaker 5: putting this together?
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: Was it?
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: You know?
- 1:33:28Speaker 5: Does he come out and start talking about collaboration with Josh?
- 1:33:31Speaker 5: And we identified a lot of young coaches that we
- 1:33:33Speaker 5: felt like really had a lot of promise and could
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: help take us to where the direction we want to
- 1:33:38Speaker 5: take this offense. And I think those are the things
- 1:33:40Speaker 5: you're kind of hoping to hear, not you know, I mean,
- 1:33:44Speaker 5: you probably wouldn't hear the opposite of it.
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: You just wouldn't hear anything. But that's the hope. That's
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: the hope.
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: Travis and West Virginia. Are you any closer to agreeing
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: with me that Josh Allen ain't all that My stance
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: is that he can't win games with his brain only, braun.
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: No, I'm as convinced as ever he's as great. That
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: was as great a performance as you can get.
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: You mean, he pulled out of the pro Bowl too
- 1:34:06Speaker 5: because of a risk injury, so we don't even know
- 1:34:08Speaker 5: how much that was affecting, and ragged the team.
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: To the AFC Championship game and down to the last possession,
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: like you just hate him, which is okay. Sports hate
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: is perfectly reasonable. Yep, I hate a lot of guys
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: for no reason.
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: Sam and Charlotte. I pushed back, Mike what Samon? Charlotte says.
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: I pushed back that Josh was an ownership decision because
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: I don't know who would be a better candidate. Give
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: me a better candidate and I'll consider your argument. Paul.
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: I would have taken Dave Ragon, Nick Cayley.
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: Everybody's been telling me how great this Thomas Brown hire wash.
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: I've been reading the last three or four days. Someone
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: this morning called it a Super Bowl caliber staff.
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: Who's Who's that?
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: Someone Andrew Callahan on one of my shows, Well, he
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: knows Baul. Now. I think that they were kind of
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: goading him into saying it, which is why I got
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: that smirk on my face. I don't think he necessarily
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: meant it, but he kable. He was a good sport
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: about it, and he kind of went with it. But
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: he did say they have the makings for one of
- 1:35:15Speaker 3: the best staffs in the league, which I'm not really
- 1:35:17Speaker 3: sure what you're basing that on.
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: Adam and Louisiana. Mike is wrong. He claims McDaniels is
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: a QB developer, but then dismisses Sam Bradford immediately. Bradford
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: was the first overall pick. If he couldn't get something
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: out of him, He's not this great QB guru that
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: everyone says he is. Josh has never developed a great quarterback.
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: Brady was already Brady before him.
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: I'm not going to do it again.
- 1:35:39Speaker 3: Well, I'll defend Mike a little bit, just a little bit.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: Well that's kind of more of how I feel, obviously,
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: But I'm gonna play devil's advocate and defend you a
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: little bit. Like if he had a track record of
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: strong development of quarterbacks and Sam Bradford didn't work, couldn't
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: that be Sam Bradford's fault.
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: Yep?
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: Like he I mean, he wasn't. He was the number
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: one overall pick, but he never turned into that. Now
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: he was average at best. That's right now. I think
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: that what worries me more about Josh is like he
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: went to Denver, couldn't work with Jay Cutler, he went
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: to the Raiders, really couldn't work with Derek Carr, Like,
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: is it a you problem or is it a them problem?
- 1:36:21Speaker 9: Right?
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: I think that's I think that's a valid pushback on
- 1:36:23Speaker 5: that regard. But I also I wasn't. I'm not here
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: to claim that Josh is this great quarterback developer. That
- 1:36:29Speaker 5: wasn't my argument.
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: I just think I wasn't.
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: I'm responding to the email. I think he's a he's
- 1:36:33Speaker 5: a very good offensive coordinator and respectable one. And I
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: agree that they'll be able to develop a very talented
- 1:36:40Speaker 5: player in Drake May, and that you know they're going
- 1:36:42Speaker 5: to do things to maximize Drake May's talents. And that's
- 1:36:45Speaker 5: what this coaching staff is. It's to figure out how
- 1:36:48Speaker 5: can we maximize this kid who's got such a bag
- 1:36:51Speaker 5: of tricks that you know, you really.
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: You see what they did.
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: If you're going to tell me that Josh's offense is
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: going to be more like with the guys they're bringing
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: in to work with him, I'm all on board. Yeah.
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: The reason I was interested in other guys other than
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: Josh is because I felt those other guys were going
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: to run the offense that I am kind of looking
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: forward to seeing as opposed to the old Patriots offense.
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: This is not an anti Jodge, I said this last week.
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: It's not an anti Josh stance. First of all, I
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: really liked the guy, so it would definitely not be
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: an anti Josh stance. I'd be like everybody else and
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: sacrifice my integrity for the good of my relationship, but
- 1:37:26Speaker 3: I wanted to see what it might look like with
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: a Sean McVay, Kyle Shannean type approach.
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: We all know that Brady's intelligence as football IQ was
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: second to none, Yet it seems from what we've Brady
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: has said and what's been reported, that Josh was able
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: to communicate with him on his level. So I think Josh,
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: you know, if it was just Brady and Josh was
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: just a bystander and really didn't contribute to those offenses,
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: it would have been known, and I don't think Brady
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: would have tolerated that. I think, you know, I don't
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: think he knows I think he knows ball.
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: But I think I don't think anybody's doubting whether or
- 1:38:04Speaker 3: not he knows ball. Like what we're people are talking
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: about is that offense the best for right now. No,
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: it's not like does he know that offense. Everyone agrees intellect.
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: Everyone agrees that they can't run the Brady And I'm
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: gonna call it the Brady offense because you know this
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: whole Perkins Earhard thing, it became the Brady offense, that
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: that playbook went from this to this because of Tom Brady.
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: I agree with you, and they're not gonna be able
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: to run that with anyone.
- 1:38:33Speaker 5: Well, I mean, just to throw another variable in the mix.
- 1:38:35Speaker 5: And I'm not using this as an example to support
- 1:38:37Speaker 5: or deny my argument, but Bill O'Brien, Bill O'Brien was here,
- 1:38:41Speaker 5: worked with Brady, went to Houston. I think some people
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: give him credit for what Deshaun Watson did. He came back,
- 1:38:47Speaker 5: he didn't do anything with Mac Jones.
- 1:38:49Speaker 4: So I don't know what that says.
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: By that time, you know Jones problem that was an
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: organizational Mac Jones couldn't. Yeah, but you know, I don't know.
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: But you don't hear me saying that Josh McDaniels ruined
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: Mac Jones. That ain't mak, That ain't Josh McDonald's.
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: Josh McDaniels didn't help Mac Jones win games. He helped
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: him from not losing them. That that was That was
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: Josh McDaniel's role.
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: For half a season, for half that season, until everybody
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: figured out, okay, we can do this, this and this,
- 1:39:16Speaker 3: and then that guy is.
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: Used and then when he asked him to do more,
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: we couldn't.
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: I know, they were like seventh in DVOA. Like, I
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: believe me, Butdad sends me the numbers constantly. And listen,
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: you know, Greg and I agree to disagree on it.
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: We've we've sort of gone back and forth on it.
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: I don't think that offense was good at all in
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: that that season. I think Fred's point about that offense
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: is one thousand percent right. They had it. They treated
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: him with kid gloves. They didn't let him do anything.
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: They just told him to stay out of the way.
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: And because of some good fortune early in the season,
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: catching teams at the right time, like the number one
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: seed Titans who were missing like twenty guys that day.
- 1:39:52Speaker 3: Remember I remember how many guys they were missing that day,
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: and you end up scoring like thirty six points because
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: you're returning for touchdowns and whatnot. Made it look like
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: it was a lot.
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: I think Belichick had as much to do with the
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: first half of that season as McDaniels Belichick. If there's
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: no one that hates quarterbacks turning the ball over more
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: than Belichick hates that, not that likes.
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: Listen, if it was a great rookie year, like from
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: start to finish, and they like, I would call it
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: what it was. There's a line of demarkation in the
- 1:40:23Speaker 3: middle of the season where they stopped scoring points, one
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: of which the head coach refused to even allow him
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: to attempt to pass right, let alone try to score points.
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: Yeah, let's see, Jeremiah writes in an argument I would
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: have for McDaniels to counter the Brady argument is that
- 1:40:43Speaker 2: what quarterbacks who have had success in McDaniel's system did
- 1:40:46Speaker 2: once they left Garoppolo, Brissett, Hoyer, Castle and Jones. So,
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: in other words, they did pretty good under McDaniels, but
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: when they left, they didn't do anything.
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: Who did pretty good under McDaniels. Matt Castle had his
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: best year in Kansas City, he said. Matt Cassel went
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: to the playoffs and went to the Pro Bowl in
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: Kansas City.
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: I'm just telling you what he said.
- 1:41:07Speaker 3: Garoppolo went to the Super Bowl in San Francisco. Yeah,
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: like he had his best year with McDaniels. They were
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: terrible last year. Okay, is that? But am I wrong?
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: Am I misremembering as they say?
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: No, I'm just I'm confused by what the email was
- 1:41:23Speaker 5: trying to say.
- 1:41:24Speaker 4: That's why I.
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: Don't Jeff in California. He's one of those people who
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: won't be watching the Super Bowl.
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: Now he's rooting for the media.
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: The NFL finally did it this weekend. He said they
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: broke Jeff.
- 1:41:38Speaker 4: Jeff.
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: They broke Jeff and California.
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: I know, I know Paul will roll his eyes and say,
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: I'm a liar.
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: I do not roll my you are a liar.
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: You will watch, But I shan't be watching a minute
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: of the Super Bowl this year. I'll keep my eye
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: on the box score in case Philly is blowing out
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: the k C Refs calls them the Casey Refs. But otherwise,
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: if the score is closed at all by the end,
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: we all know it'll just be a laundry parade of
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: yellow flags for the Swifties to get their way. It's
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: hard enough to win games in the NFL when most
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: are within one score, but to beat a case team
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: loaded with all Pro defensive talent, a Hall of Fame
- 1:42:14Speaker 2: defensive coordinator, a Hall of Fame tight end, three Pro
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: Bowl offensive lineman, the greatest head coach ever, and have
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: the refs actively selling out to the Swifties for viewership
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: makes it all but impossible.
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: The Swifties PU, I love the swiftiest part of it.
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: PU will be the only football related thing I will
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: consume over the next two weeks and possibly the next
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: month plus, depending on what happens with the game, because
- 1:42:38Speaker 2: I refuse to listen to the nauseating media continue to
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: bury their head in the sand as though it's not happening.
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: The thirty two owners care first and foremost about money,
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: and while the Bills, Texans and soon Jeffrey Lourie of
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: the Eagles will be pissed that they get the shaft,
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: the other owners will support this nonsense. If the Taylor
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: swift fans can bring another there are one hundred million
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: eyeballs to the TV on Sunday because the goal is
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: to build the NFL brand and increase revenue. As always,
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: I appreciate you guys and everything you do. F the
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: Chiefs end up pulling a thread and rooting for a
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: Kelsey and Ma homeless injury during the off week. Wow.
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: So all of that I can totally understand, except for
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: the Taylor Swift part. Like I understand why, like I
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: said to you, Fred, you admitted five minutes into the show,
- 1:43:26Speaker 3: why you will not be rooting for Kansas City. I
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: think it makes perfect sense. Yeah, can someone explain to
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: me how Taylor Swift is drawing a hundred million eyeballs?
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: We get one hundred million anyway.
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: So what are they saying all the time about tailor
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: the Taylor.
- 1:43:41Speaker 2: Swift new fans to the NFL?
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: In what demographic?
- 1:43:45Speaker 2: Young women?
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: And it's increasing by what three hundred percent like or
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: something ridiculous like that. So does that mean like they
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: had sixty five girls watch and they used to only
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: have like twenty, Like, sirely, what do you think the
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: numbers are for the demographic of like thirteen to twenty
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: one year old females that are watching the NFL?
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: Whatever it was, it's three hundred percent more.
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: It's more. I know it's more, but it's not. We're
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: not talking about one hundred million people are watching the
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: game so they can see that sixteen seconds worth of
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: a montage of shots to Taylor Swift? Am I wrong
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: about that? I miss? Like, do I misunderstand? I need
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: to dad only.
- 1:44:29Speaker 5: The numbers that all the Chiefs games do crazy numbers
- 1:44:32Speaker 5: and the other games are just kind of mad. I
- 1:44:34Speaker 5: mean I thought the numbers were kind of down, at
- 1:44:36Speaker 5: least for the divisional route. I don't know they were
- 1:44:38Speaker 5: what the conference numbers were, but they were And like
- 1:44:40Speaker 5: a shoke said that to us, like the playoff ratings
- 1:44:43Speaker 5: have been down. Yeah, the show because one of our
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: directors of content here for the Patriots, he like these numbers,
- 1:44:51Speaker 5: like if it was all about Taylor Swift, right, it'd
- 1:44:54Speaker 5: be concrete, like like the Chiefs would have this number
- 1:44:57Speaker 5: and everybody else would get this right. I have no
- 1:45:00Speaker 5: doubt that there is more interest for young females because
- 1:45:05Speaker 5: of her. I mean, she is probably the most powerful
- 1:45:07Speaker 5: entity right now in the world, right, I mean, I
- 1:45:10Speaker 5: don't think that's much of a stretch. But to tell
- 1:45:13Speaker 5: me that it's and.
- 1:45:15Speaker 4: Is it sustainable? The NFL really was doing? What are
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: they chasing?
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: I mean, are you just only like they break up
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: and then think about.
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: How short sighted it would be? And of course I
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: don't believe this, but let's just say they were rigging
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: it for the Chiefs. Okay, so what happens when Kelsey
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: and Taylor Swift leave? Now you've alienated fans like that
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: who are pissed off at the league which died away.
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: Yeah, it's you know, I heard my buddy Jim Murray
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: on my show yesterday has this whole thing like he's
- 1:45:47Speaker 3: one of these guys the world is rigged. So he
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: has the whole thing. You know how this is going
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: to end. The Chiefs are going to win the game.
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: Travis Kelsey is going to propose to Taylor Swift after
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: the game, and bro, I'm out. He's going to be tire.
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: So now what do you do if you're the NFL
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: right now you've lost that three hundred percent bump.
- 1:46:06Speaker 2: Which you have to rig his life and say you
- 1:46:08Speaker 2: can't do it, you can't belave Well, I got better?
- 1:46:10Speaker 5: And what if what if he cheats on her and
- 1:46:12Speaker 5: gets caught and it's a huge falling out and then
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: all of a sudden, all the Swift right not aren't
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: just pissy retired, They're like.
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: It's our NFL.
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: Right at the NFL.
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: Ball boy caught the NFL because those those mean nasty
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: football players did this to Taylor Swift, and I didn't mean.
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: While every guy that she's ever gone out to her.
- 1:46:28Speaker 2: But that's beside the point.
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: She did it. Wow, But there's a lot of songs.
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: She has a lot of songs about that she does.
- 1:46:36Speaker 3: You know what I'm here for that.
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: Well, she's said that she was the problem.
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: It's her high Hi, it's me.
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: Camel and Georgia says Mike, like Taylor shift the minority
- 1:46:51Speaker 2: catchy tunes.
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: No, I mean forget the catchy tune part like it does.
- 1:46:56Speaker 10: Her.
- 1:46:56Speaker 3: I respect tell.
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: A swift away, I respect the chiefs.
- 1:46:59Speaker 3: But why does it bother you? Let the show her
- 1:47:01Speaker 3: in the book.
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: It doesn't.
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: I mean, I picked over his wife. I'm glad.
- 1:47:06Speaker 5: I'm happy to see Taylor Swift. I'm glad that Mahomes's
- 1:47:08Speaker 5: wife has been pushed out of this mode.
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: That's kind of you.
- 1:47:10Speaker 3: That's a I don't think he's there.
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: That's been a good subproduct of all of this is
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: that she's been She's got three kids. He's a mom now,
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: Golden ray h Kamel and Georgia has three points one,
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: he says. Mike Reese is posting that Brian Belichick will
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: be moving on from the Patriots. When you guys think
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: about that will replace him. I didn't see that either.
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: I didn't see it. That's new. Yeah, well, Mike had
- 1:47:36Speaker 3: a whole breakdown of potential position coaches for those guys
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: that we didn't know where they fit. Maybe one of
- 1:47:42Speaker 3: those guys is of safety.
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: That's possible.
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: Maybe you just have a defensive backs coach.
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: Visited? Has he taken a picture of your living No?
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: Penn State, Penn State.
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: Penn State. He was on a visit to Penn State
- 1:47:54Speaker 3: two years ago. Actually they came and saw him. He
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: went on a visit there.
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: Okay, violation, come to your house.
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: Yeah, No, Bill hasn't been by. I told you that
- 1:48:03Speaker 3: story though, Like I wanted to, like if we were
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: going on on the toys now, can you tell Paul here? Yeah?
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: See what he says.
- 1:48:11Speaker 4: So busy.
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: Also, what do you guys think of the Doug Kaide
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: report of Mike Rabel and Terrell Williams running the same
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: defense they ran in Tennessee.
- 1:48:20Speaker 5: Yeah, talked a little bit about that on the front
- 1:48:22Speaker 5: and Evan Evan too. Evan had a really good film
- 1:48:24Speaker 5: breakdown on it. It's it's interesting. I mean, it just
- 1:48:27Speaker 5: makes you wonder if that the whole big two gappers
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: up front. It I mean, it really changes how I'm
- 1:48:32Speaker 5: approaching the off season of the kind of players you're considering.
- 1:48:36Speaker 5: You know, it's you can now And I think that
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: this might feed into Christian Barmore better. I think he
- 1:48:40Speaker 5: might be the offense.
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: Yeah, that's my version of fast go get him, Like,
- 1:48:45Speaker 3: I don't want to play the the you know, the
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: the two gap two hundred and sixty pounds inside linebackers
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: taking on guards and you know, we've got to stop
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: the run. I don't want to play that way anymore.
- 1:48:57Speaker 3: And that's that's the version of my offense.
- 1:48:59Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the big question for me, is is Juwan
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: Bentley and Julanni Tovai as big off the ball linebackers,
- 1:49:06Speaker 5: do they fit anymore?
- 1:49:07Speaker 4: Is it time to.
- 1:49:08Speaker 5: Really make the move to the guys that people have
- 1:49:10Speaker 5: been pounding the table for every draft, the Devin Lloyd's
- 1:49:12Speaker 5: of the world.
- 1:49:13Speaker 4: You know, you get those mobile.
- 1:49:14Speaker 5: Inside sideline to sideline linebackers, you know. I mean, I
- 1:49:18Speaker 5: gotta think it's hard to get rid of Jawan Bentley.
- 1:49:20Speaker 5: I think he's a leader and I think he can
- 1:49:21Speaker 5: kind of fit anyway. But the truth is he's about
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: twenty to thirty pounds too heavy for what they usually had.
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: Playing on the other problem is they had no depth
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: at all at that position last year.
- 1:49:31Speaker 4: Oh yeah, and they still don't.
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: And I mean they were cobbling it together and even like.
- 1:49:35Speaker 4: You know, kind of adjusting.
- 1:49:36Speaker 5: You know, I keep my little nerd depth chart on
- 1:49:38Speaker 5: my on my sheet that I do and even just
- 1:49:39Speaker 5: adjusting it, It's like, all right, I guess I can
- 1:49:42Speaker 5: talk myself into key on White playing strong side defensive end.
- 1:49:46Speaker 4: I guess.
- 1:49:47Speaker 5: I mean, I don't think he's great or proven at it,
- 1:49:49Speaker 5: but I don't know who's playing the weak side. I mean,
- 1:49:51Speaker 5: you know, you need a guy who can get around
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: the corner on that weak side. That guy doesn't exist
- 1:49:57Speaker 5: on the rust right now. That's why I abdual Carter
- 1:49:58Speaker 5: would be so appealings he could step in and do.
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: If you have him going number one right now, I
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: to kiss him goodbye.
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: He's not He's not coming here. Mike, Mike, Mike's had
- 1:50:06Speaker 3: an I.
- 1:50:08Speaker 2: Know, I'm not gonna allow myself to get a final question,
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: what coaches do you think are getting in the Hall
- 1:50:12Speaker 2: of Fame? I have Bill Belichick Mike Tomlin, Andy Reid,
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: John Harbaugh, Pete Carroll, and Sean Payton.
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: The only one I would say I'm on the fence
- 1:50:21Speaker 3: about is Peyton. You think all the those other guys
- 1:50:23Speaker 3: I think are locks?
- 1:50:24Speaker 2: No question, me too, locks?
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: Locks.
- 1:50:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know Tomlin. Should he be a lock?
- 1:50:33Speaker 12: Yeah?
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: Probably?
- 1:50:34Speaker 2: Yeah, we've lowered the bar.
- 1:50:37Speaker 3: Two titles.
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: Not enough.
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: No, I don't. I don't even really think Pete Carroll
- 1:50:41Speaker 2: should be a lock.
- 1:50:43Speaker 4: Okay, you know that's interesting.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: I think I think Andy Reid and Bill Belichick are locks.
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: The other ones are up for debate.
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: Okay, I hear you out.
- 1:50:51Speaker 5: I'll hear you out on that one.
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: Sure, I'm ok yeah, I'm okay. You know me, I'm
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: a small Hall guy.
- 1:50:57Speaker 5: Me too, small Hall small Kenned, New Jersey.
- 1:51:04Speaker 2: I'll be listening later. Sorry if this was brought up,
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: but I thought there were some similarities to the scoring
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: in the Chiefs Bills game and Super Bowl thirty eight
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: Patriots Panthers. Both had the final score thirty two to
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: twenty nine on a fourth quarterfield goal. Both had the
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: losing team missing two point conversions and the winning team
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: getting one. And that's the three points, right, there.
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: Likely it would have been thirty one to thirty one
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: if everybody just kicked extra points.
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: Also, both of the losing team's quarterbacks first name started
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: with the letter J.
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: That's doing that. But the comparisons to that game I've
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: seen interesting.
- 1:51:41Speaker 4: I didn't see any of that.
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: Yeah, because if if the Bills just kicked the first
- 1:51:46Speaker 3: one and made it twenty one to seventeen, then you know,
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: when they scored after that, it's twenty four to twenty one,
- 1:51:54Speaker 3: you're not going for two then you're making it three.
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: So now it's twenty four to twenty one, the Chiefs score,
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: they're not going for two to make it twenty nine.
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: It's twenty eight twenty four, you know, and when the
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: Bills scored, it's thirty one twenty eight. The Chiefs kick
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: a field goal at the end to tie the game
- 1:52:10Speaker 3: instead of putting them ahead. Yep, he's right. The email
- 1:52:13Speaker 3: is absolutely right. It's very similar to the Carolina game
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: where they went for two, didn't get it. Then you
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: have to go for two the next time because you're
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: only up one. You're trying to make it three. The
- 1:52:24Speaker 3: Patriots at the same time had to go for two
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: to try to make it a three point game. They
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: got it, so it's two you get and to the
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: other team doesn't get.
- 1:52:33Speaker 5: Is it too basic to just say don't go for
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: two point conversions in the first half.
- 1:52:37Speaker 3: I just think it's don't chase points until you have
- 1:52:40Speaker 3: to right.
- 1:52:41Speaker 5: The first half the really, I mean, maybe there's a chance.
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: But again I heard all the analytics guys tell you, well,
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: it makes sense. You get it at the one yard line.
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: You want to get it to within three like it's
- 1:52:51Speaker 3: the second quarter. Same thing with the Commanders fourteen twelve.
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: There's no need to go for two then you know
- 1:53:00Speaker 3: what you need. Did you see people on Twitter? They
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: were doing that, not not like they would sydcast whatnot.
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: This is good now they know what they need.
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: Adam and Louisiana, my wife who is twenty seven, loves
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: Taylor Swift and abhorse football. But she started watching the
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: Chiefs games and the Chiefs games only to see Taylor.
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: She wants to see what she's wearing, who she's sitting
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: next to, how she celebrates. It's the only reason she watches.
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: But the question is when she's gone, well she still.
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: Watch right Number one? Number two is are there one
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: hundred million of them, right, I doubt that this is
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: what I'm pushing back on. I don't believe that that
- 1:53:37Speaker 3: number of individual is large at all.
- 1:53:40Speaker 2: Well, okay, so let's put it. How many Taylor Swift
- 1:53:43Speaker 2: fans are there out? Oh?
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: That I believe is as big as they say it.
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: So if you know Taylor Swift is going to be
- 1:53:49Speaker 2: on at six o'clock on Sunday afternoon, but.
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: You're don't tuning in, you don't know, you don't know
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: she's gonna be on at six o'clock, She's gonna be
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: on periodically during the game, right for fifteen second?
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: Is that all it takes for them?
- 1:54:03Speaker 3: If it is, I'm not I'm not disputing that there
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: are people that do this. Yeah, I'm disputing that there's
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: a large enough number to impact the rating.
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: Of the Super Bowl.
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: Right, it's a long three and a half hours if
- 1:54:16Speaker 5: you're waiting for fifteen seconds for shows.
- 1:54:18Speaker 3: Everybody watches the Super Bowl. I used to say, my
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: late great aunts, my aunt Camella, my auntie Fina, who
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: couldn't spell football, they watched the super Bowl.
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: They have time show.
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: They just watched because it's what else are you going
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: to do? It's the event it's social. Like everybody watched
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: the Super Bowl. I know that the it always works
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: out that it's like a fifty rating, Like it's like
- 1:54:41Speaker 3: half and half. Like I always like, do you have
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: you ever met anybody other than Jeff in California who
- 1:54:49Speaker 3: doesn't watch the Super Bowl?
- 1:54:50Speaker 10: Now?
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: Like, and I'm being this is a legitimate question, do
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: you know anybody in your life?
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: Well, Paul might, I mean Mike might go to an
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: HL game that day.
- 1:54:57Speaker 3: That's but like Mike, So when you were in like
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: California and you're in the entertainment industry, you know adjacent.
- 1:55:05Speaker 4: No, I was an entertainment istry.
- 1:55:06Speaker 3: It's a rat So maybe there's people there that don't
- 1:55:10Speaker 3: care about the NFL, don't care about sports in general.
- 1:55:13Speaker 3: Did you know anybody in your life that wasn't interested
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: in watching the Super Now? I don't care if they
- 1:55:19Speaker 3: cared who won. No, but not I'm not watching that.
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: How could you watch that?
- 1:55:23Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:55:23Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I don't know. I never met anybody who
- 1:55:25Speaker 3: doesn't watch the Super Bowl.
- 1:55:26Speaker 5: I've gone to some of my out there, went to
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: some of the most passionate super Bowl parties of my life,
- 1:55:31Speaker 5: certainly the one right after Super Bowl forty I guess
- 1:55:34Speaker 5: it would have been with some bunch of Seahawks fans.
- 1:55:36Speaker 5: So there was Seahawks with Steelers, and yeah, that everybody, everybody, everybody.
- 1:55:42Speaker 2: I know some guys that they don't like football, but
- 1:55:45Speaker 2: they go to a party every year and it's called
- 1:55:47Speaker 2: the Super Bowl Party and they have the game on.
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: But the theme of the party is everyone brings a
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: different soup and so oh, I get it, but they
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: have the game on. They still have the game on.
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: Right, But that that's kind of like my point. I
- 1:56:00Speaker 3: know people that don't care about sports, Like I'm not
- 1:56:03Speaker 3: that closed minded that I only associate with people that
- 1:56:06Speaker 3: like minded with me. But I don't know anybody that
- 1:56:10Speaker 3: doesn't like sports to the extent that they wouldn't have
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: the Super Bowl on Sunday.
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: When you guys watched. Do you watch all the pregame stuff?
- 1:56:17Speaker 9: No?
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: I do. I usually have a party.
- 1:56:21Speaker 2: I watched the whole thing. I want to see every interview.
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: I want to see every piece that they do. I
- 1:56:26Speaker 2: want to see all there.
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: You make fun of me a lot for this, and
- 1:56:30Speaker 3: I have so little interest in an interview with anybody
- 1:56:36Speaker 3: that I could not possibly watch that that drivel, Like
- 1:56:40Speaker 3: there's nothing better than you know, what do you need
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: to do in the second half? Like I clicked on
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: you talked about the Celtics earlier. We're bringing a full circle.
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: They lost the game last night, so they have On
- 1:56:51Speaker 3: NBC Sports Boston, Abby Chin does a quick little interview
- 1:56:55Speaker 3: with not the Press comments with Joe Missoula and so, Joe,
- 1:57:01Speaker 3: what went wrong?
- 1:57:01Speaker 9: You know?
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: Fourth quarter? Couldn't close it up? He put it all
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: on him, He said, this one's on me. I did
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: no follow up. What did you do? What matchups? What matchups?
- 1:57:14Speaker 3: I had the wrong matchups. I did nothing. So even
- 1:57:17Speaker 3: on the off chance that you get something interesting, which
- 1:57:20Speaker 3: I thought Missoula's answer answer was interesting, you still don't
- 1:57:23Speaker 3: get anything like player interviews. Worst ever, I I don't know.
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: I'm in the minority. I know everybody else like if
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: a player comes on and talks to you know, like
- 1:57:36Speaker 3: on my shows, and then like, oh, did you hear
- 1:57:40Speaker 3: you know this guy? Like no, no, I openly clicked
- 1:57:45Speaker 3: the channel when I hear a player on a show.
- 1:57:47Speaker 2: One more quick call. Dan's in Connecticut. What's up, Dan?
- 1:57:50Speaker 3: I'm not going to watch the Super Bowl?
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: Dan? All right? I tried to get you in Uh,
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: I just got this is up breaking news. Drake May
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: is a pro bowler, just announced.
- 1:58:06Speaker 3: So now how do you take that? Mike? I had
- 1:58:07Speaker 3: heard this was a possibility earlier today. I didn't know
- 1:58:11Speaker 3: what was happening. I heard it was a possibility. Do
- 1:58:13Speaker 3: you at all have any Vietnam flashback to the last
- 1:58:18Speaker 3: seventh alternate that was named for thee No. I don't
- 1:58:22Speaker 3: think Drake May is cool that he didn't do anything.
- 1:58:25Speaker 5: I mean, the only way I look at it is
- 1:58:26Speaker 5: I think it's a good opportunity for him. I don't know,
- 1:58:29Speaker 5: puffing my chest out, I don't.
- 1:58:30Speaker 2: Know if he's right.
- 1:58:32Speaker 3: He's been announced, so he doesn't have to go, right,
- 1:58:34Speaker 3: And my guess is that he's going because everybody else
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: said no. But that was just like my My question
- 1:58:42Speaker 3: was it's the comp to mac Jones, like the assistant
- 1:58:46Speaker 3: the assistant regional manager.
- 1:58:47Speaker 2: Yeah, well, anyway, good for Drake May.
- 1:58:51Speaker 3: So now you have to watch next week.
- 1:58:53Speaker 2: I might have to send somebody down there if he's
- 1:58:56Speaker 2: going to be there. We got to cover it.
