Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Almost twelve years ago in this very studio at one
- 0:08Speaker 1: eleven Broadway, I started this journey on speaker and it
- 0:13Speaker 1: was started with covering the Bases and then other title
- 0:17Speaker 1: of until twelve years later we land on One Leg
- 0:19Speaker 1: Up Alex, and tonight's the fifteenth hundredth episode of the
- 0:25Speaker 1: main vein that is one Ling Up Alex Garrett. It's
- 0:28Speaker 1: gone through numerous name changes, whether it was keeping it
- 0:31Speaker 1: Real with Alex Garrett, whether it was covering the Base
- 0:34Speaker 1: with Alex Garrett, whether it was one Leg Up with
- 0:37Speaker 1: Alex Garrett, now just one Leg Up Alex Garrett. We've
- 0:41Speaker 1: had a lot of iterations. Of course, the Sports Hour
- 0:44Speaker 1: was really one of the origins of the show. So
- 0:48Speaker 1: to be here in the same studios I launched this
- 0:52Speaker 1: thing at is special. What's even more special tonight in
- 0:57Speaker 1: episode fifteen hundred is we have the great lou Terminello.
- 1:01Speaker 1: And before I go to him, Ryan, you're here too.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Fifteen hundred episodes.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Can you believe that?
- 1:07Speaker 3: I mean, just wild the type of story you've been on.
- 1:10Speaker 3: But you know, congratulations on fifteen hundred. I'm very humbled
- 1:15Speaker 3: in honor to be a part of this journey. And
- 1:16Speaker 3: here's to fifteen hundred more as we enter twenty twenty six.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Amen, well, let's suit for two thousand next, but fifteen
- 1:21Speaker 1: hundred more would be amazing. But for now, Terminello's take.
- 1:26Speaker 1: We love Lou and he's going to be joining me
- 1:29Speaker 1: here for the first one of twenty twenty six an
- 1:32Speaker 1: episode fifteen hundred. I could think of anybody better but
- 1:35Speaker 1: Lou Terminella.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you took the words really right out
- 1:38Speaker 3: of my mouth there. I mean, it's only right, And
- 1:41Speaker 3: to be honest, that's actually exactly what I expected. I mean,
- 1:44Speaker 3: there's no more fitting person to have on for show
- 1:48Speaker 3: fifteen hundred, your first show of twenty twenty six, still
- 1:50Speaker 3: less than our mutual friend Lou Terminelo.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I mean, it's only right, all right, Lou and Alex
- 1:56Speaker 1: here at the One Leg Up Network to start twenty
- 1:58Speaker 1: twenty six. All right, Well, it's the new year now,
- 2:02Speaker 1: and Lou Terminella, we didn't even really get a chance
- 2:05Speaker 1: to recap twenty twenty five. Then we'll do this to
- 2:07Speaker 1: end the week. Obviously, it's a new year, and hopefully
- 2:12Speaker 1: you're feeling pretty good about a new year health wise
- 2:14Speaker 1: and life wise, beyond sports, Louis Alex, thanks.
- 2:18Speaker 2: For having me. Happy New Year, everybody out there, Happy
- 2:20Speaker 2: New Year to you, Alex.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Yeah, sports wise, I have no idea what twenty twenty
- 2:25Speaker 4: six is going to look like for the teams that
- 2:27Speaker 4: we all root for and follow, and even for the
- 2:30Speaker 4: sports in general. I mean, is this going to be
- 2:32Speaker 4: the last year for Major League Baseball before they locked
- 2:35Speaker 4: out for a while?
- 2:36Speaker 2: I hope not in twenty twenty seven.
- 2:38Speaker 4: But obviously there's always a lot of things in the
- 2:41Speaker 4: sports world that teaps us interested, and this is why
- 2:45Speaker 4: we're sports fans. But let's face it, Alex, the key
- 2:49Speaker 4: thing is the number one thing this week and going
- 2:51Speaker 4: into early next week is going to be the state
- 2:55Speaker 4: of these two horrendous football teams that we follow and
- 2:59Speaker 4: root for in the New York, New Jersey, Mexpolitan the area.
- 3:04Speaker 4: And to see, is Aaron Glenn gonna get fired? It
- 3:07Speaker 4: doesn't look like he is. I think he I think
- 3:10Speaker 4: he should be. He has just been. In my opinion,
- 3:15Speaker 4: it's just a terrible mistake. If they bring him back.
- 3:19Speaker 4: I don't care that he's owed four hundred thousand, you know,
- 3:23Speaker 4: forty excuse me, forty million dollars for the rest of
- 3:26Speaker 4: his contract. He's way over his head. He's clueless on
- 3:31Speaker 4: the sidelines. We've seen it time and time again, time
- 3:34Speaker 4: management in Denver against Denver, in London, fourth down strategy.
- 3:39Speaker 4: He doesn't know when to go for it, when not
- 3:40Speaker 4: to go for it. He puts his team in a
- 3:42Speaker 4: lot of bad situations. The team's not ready at the
- 3:47Speaker 4: start of the game. The embarrassment last week against New England. Yes,
- 3:51Speaker 4: I know the season's over. I know they're playing with
- 3:54Speaker 4: practice player guys. I understand that, but they came out
- 3:58Speaker 4: horrible last week, and against a much weaker Miami team
- 4:02Speaker 4: a couple of weeks ago, they were down twenty one
- 4:04Speaker 4: nothing before you could snap your fingers. The guy's gotta go.
- 4:11Speaker 4: You know, I don't think he is. And I think
- 4:13Speaker 4: there's a couple of factors. And again I've said before
- 4:17Speaker 4: some people disagree with me. If you don't think the
- 4:20Speaker 4: Bill Parcells factor, he and if if you don't think
- 4:24Speaker 4: he had his hands in the cookie jar with the
- 4:27Speaker 4: hiring of Aaron Glenn along with Mike Tannonbaum, with that
- 4:32Speaker 4: consulting firm, whether is it Third Down Consulting or whatever
- 4:35Speaker 4: the heck it is that he's involved with. And you know,
- 4:41Speaker 4: tannon'baum and Parcels are buddies and they might have Woody's ear.
- 4:44Speaker 4: And I'm sure that Parcells is trying to say, hey,
- 4:48Speaker 4: give the guy Aaron Glenn a little bit more rope into.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Twenty six.
- 4:55Speaker 1: But like who coached him? I would believe right or
- 4:58Speaker 1: yes he did.
- 4:58Speaker 4: He was he coached he he coached. Uh, he coached Glenn.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Uh and he coached Glenn on two of the best
- 5:04Speaker 4: teams ever.
- 5:06Speaker 2: And uh uh.
- 5:10Speaker 4: But Alex, unless I'm wrong, and nobody wants to be
- 5:13Speaker 4: more wrong on this than me, nobody, the Jets are
- 5:18Speaker 4: going to be two and six, two and seven that
- 5:20Speaker 4: year and by Halloween he will be fired.
- 5:25Speaker 2: So what did they gain? Nothing?
- 5:29Speaker 1: Well, while on the Jets. First second, by the way,
- 5:32Speaker 1: what do you mean the focus is on our two
- 5:34Speaker 1: New York teams. I got my Niners Jersey ready for
- 5:36Speaker 1: tomorrow thanks to fanatics. I mean, I really want to
- 5:39Speaker 1: see them beat the uh beat the Seahawks. And I'm
- 5:42Speaker 1: excited because Brock Purty a healthy Brock Party He's a
- 5:45Speaker 1: very underrated elite quarterback and I've told you this about
- 5:49Speaker 1: if he was healthy against the Eagles, they would have
- 5:51Speaker 1: had a chance. A few years ago.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Oh, I agree with you, Alex. I think they would
- 5:55Speaker 2: have won.
- 5:56Speaker 1: And he's he's been he's had my eye the all
- 5:58Speaker 1: the time. Like I love he's over.
- 6:00Speaker 2: You got to.
- 6:01Speaker 4: You gotta love a guy who was the last guy
- 6:02Speaker 4: picked in the draft and he is you know, he's
- 6:06Speaker 4: he's a rhythm quarterback, he's a system quarterback.
- 6:09Speaker 2: He takes command, he's tough. I agree with you. I
- 6:14Speaker 2: I Tomorrow Night's game is a toss.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Up, uh but they had do they have a chance
- 6:21Speaker 4: with See, Alex, you're you're playing right into what I
- 6:24Speaker 4: want to say. With all their injuries to Freddie Warner
- 6:28Speaker 4: to Bosa, they lost their two best defensive players, you know,
- 6:33Speaker 4: and they still have a chance to win the Super Bowl.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Of course, Kyle Shanahan is a friggin genius. He's an
- 6:40Speaker 4: offensive genius. And that's why I will jump. We'll go
- 6:43Speaker 4: across the uh the hallway to the other side of
- 6:46Speaker 4: met Life before we do that.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Before we do that, I want to wrap on one thing. Sure,
- 6:49Speaker 1: the Bills and Jets ending UH Bill Stadium. You know
- 6:54Speaker 1: what's funny about that. I always used to none despise
- 6:59Speaker 1: the Bills, but I was going to the Jets to
- 7:01Speaker 1: beat the Bills because the Jets were closer, they're you know,
- 7:05Speaker 1: they're downstate. But beyond that, I just think they've had
- 7:10Speaker 1: some really intriguing games up there in fifty three years.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I mean, one more for historic purposes, but I'm sure
- 7:17Speaker 1: it just feels fitting because the Bills and Jets used
- 7:19Speaker 1: to be a bigger rivalry that I can remember over
- 7:22Speaker 1: the years, in addition to the Patriots Jets.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Well again, sometimes Alex rivalries are only good when when
- 7:31Speaker 4: one team when the teams aren't kicking the crap out
- 7:35Speaker 4: of the other team, like you know, yes, the Patriots
- 7:39Speaker 4: are big ravel with the Jets, but the Patriots have
- 7:42Speaker 4: beaten the Jets twenty five l least twenty nine times,
- 7:45Speaker 4: so there's not much of a rivalry. I mean, when
- 7:47Speaker 4: I was with the Nets and we were beating the
- 7:50Speaker 4: Knicks like eleven times in a row and you know,
- 7:53Speaker 4: twenty nine out of thirty two with some ridiculous stretch
- 7:57Speaker 4: like that said, well, it's not a rivalry. We're always
- 8:02Speaker 4: beating them, so but it is a rivalry. But sometimes
- 8:07Speaker 4: on the court it's just not competitive. And I mean,
- 8:10Speaker 4: the Jets have had some wins against the Bills. Even
- 8:12Speaker 4: Zach Wilson beat beat the Bills that at MetLife a
- 8:15Speaker 4: couple of years.
- 8:16Speaker 1: A number of years ago, the Jets had a chance
- 8:18Speaker 1: to do it with Mike White and then they just
- 8:21Speaker 1: fell short against Buffalo. But there's been some times, well.
- 8:24Speaker 2: The games has been good.
- 8:26Speaker 1: You're right, we're intriguing stuff. And of course, I mean
- 8:31Speaker 1: I just for fifty three years, I just always Orchard Park.
- 8:36Speaker 1: You just remember that. Even down staters remember that.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Look at all the great players who played for those
- 8:41Speaker 4: the Bills in those fifty three years. O. J. Simpson,
- 8:43Speaker 4: that great offensive line at Simpson Red Behind which was
- 8:46Speaker 4: called the Electric Company, J. D.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Hill, Joe Ferguson, Braxton.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Kelly, and then of course in the nineties the great
- 8:58Speaker 4: team that went to four straight Yeah, I know they
- 9:00Speaker 4: lost all four, but getting to four straight Super Bowls
- 9:03Speaker 4: is like an often shots great achievement, you know, Kelly Thrman, Thomas.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Bruce Smith, Andre Reid, Daryl Tally. I mean, we can go,
- 9:15Speaker 2: we can go on and on.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I think Alan just needs that four piece to put
- 9:19Speaker 1: him over the edge. I really do think he needs
- 9:21Speaker 1: at least.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Well, if if if Jake, if Allan, if had Jim
- 9:29Speaker 4: Kelly's team.
- 9:30Speaker 2: They would not. And I don't get me wrong.
- 9:32Speaker 4: I love Jim Kelly as a quarterback and he's a
- 9:35Speaker 4: deserving Hall of Famer, but he's not as he's not
- 9:38Speaker 4: as good as Alan.
- 9:41Speaker 2: They would not have lost four Super Bowls in a
- 9:43Speaker 2: row if they had allan that's for sure.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I mean four Super Bowls, and of course the wide
- 9:51Speaker 1: right one is always on everybody's mind when you talk
- 9:53Speaker 1: about that. But you know, they went up against some
- 9:55Speaker 1: really intriguing teams too.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I mean no doubt.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I think they lost to the Cowboys at one point
- 10:00Speaker 1: in that run too. They looked at the Cowboys year
- 10:03Speaker 1: three and four and now the Redskins in one of
- 10:06Speaker 1: them as well.
- 10:07Speaker 2: But the second one the one after the Giants, but you.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Know it was, it's it's quite remarkable. And uh then
- 10:15Speaker 1: all of a sudden, you see the research. I mean,
- 10:17Speaker 1: my lifetime, the Bills have had sort of ups and downs.
- 10:20Speaker 1: But when Tyrod Taylor came into the league, he turned
- 10:23Speaker 1: things around in Buffalo. And I'll never forget he got
- 10:26Speaker 1: into the playoffs for the first time in a while
- 10:28Speaker 1: and they still burned his jersey. I'm like, what are
- 10:30Speaker 1: you doing? He got you to the playoffs and you're
- 10:32Speaker 1: still burn as he's lying in his back in Jacksonville.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I never never forget that.
- 10:38Speaker 2: You know, fans are fickle.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Fans are with you went most, most fans are with
- 10:42Speaker 4: you win or tide, But if you lose, forget it.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Ral Wilson, I mean, what can you? I mean, I
- 10:47Speaker 1: don't I don't know if you want to divert there.
- 10:48Speaker 1: But Ralph Wilson, that's who the name was originally, That's
- 10:52Speaker 1: who I always played in the Madden Games in that stadium,
- 10:54Speaker 1: Roflson Stadium. But who was he like? Is he like
- 10:57Speaker 1: the Was he the king of Buffalo up there?
- 10:59Speaker 4: Or no? He he was the first owner of the
- 11:02Speaker 4: Buffalo Bills. He was the owner who got them into
- 11:07Speaker 4: the American Football League in nineteen sixty and was their
- 11:10Speaker 4: owner until he passed away. He was only for like
- 11:14Speaker 4: forty five years, and he got that stadium built, or
- 11:20Speaker 4: there was taught that the Bills were gonna move before
- 11:24Speaker 4: that stadium was built in the early seventies. And I
- 11:27Speaker 4: remember the stadium before, which was a World War two
- 11:32Speaker 4: reclamation project War Memorial stadium where and they were good
- 11:39Speaker 4: teams that the Bills had in the seventies. In the sixties,
- 11:41Speaker 4: excuse me, winning championships in sixty four and sixty five
- 11:44Speaker 4: back to back with the Cookie Gilchrist, and they had
- 11:48Speaker 4: great linebackers Mike Stranton among the three, Jack Kemp who
- 11:55Speaker 4: almost ran for President of the United States. He tried
- 11:58Speaker 4: and didn't get a nomination. He was an outstanding quarterback
- 12:01Speaker 4: for them. They had a terrific team in sixty four,
- 12:05Speaker 4: sixty and sixty four and sixty five, and a lot
- 12:08Speaker 4: of people thought they were going to be the first
- 12:10Speaker 4: AFL representative in the Super Bowl, but they lost the
- 12:13Speaker 4: sixty six championship game to Kansas City at Buffalo thirty
- 12:17Speaker 4: one to seven. But yeah, so an end of an
- 12:20Speaker 4: era on Sunday as far as the old stadium, to.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Me, it's fitting inso the Jets, because I feel like
- 12:26Speaker 1: I grew up watching the Bills and Jets all the time,
- 12:29Speaker 1: well every year, and.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's fitting.
- 12:32Speaker 4: And the Bills will pound a living crap out of
- 12:34Speaker 4: the Jets on Sunday.
- 12:36Speaker 1: But you know, last week's loss affected there. We'll get
- 12:39Speaker 1: to the Giants second last week's loss and that overthrow,
- 12:42Speaker 1: I don't know why I don't try and kick it
- 12:44Speaker 1: to go into overtime, but that cost them in the seating. Like, Okay,
- 12:48Speaker 1: they're probably they're gonna make the playoffs, but they could
- 12:50Speaker 1: have a really good chance of the better seating if
- 12:52Speaker 1: they had happened to win last Sunday. That's why I
- 12:54Speaker 1: was so frustrated. Like, besides bad football call not to
- 12:57Speaker 1: go for to go for two on.
- 13:00Speaker 5: It also has a seating they might have to play
- 13:05Speaker 5: depending on what you know happens on Sunday and tomorrow,
- 13:10Speaker 5: they might have to.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Play their first game at Jacksonville. I would not when
- 13:14Speaker 4: they made it thirteen to twelve.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and I know that Allen.
- 13:17Speaker 4: I know that Josh Allen missed the wide open receiver
- 13:20Speaker 4: and end zone that he'll hit ten times at nine
- 13:24Speaker 4: times out of ten, Well, that was the tenth time.
- 13:26Speaker 2: He missed it.
- 13:27Speaker 4: But it made no sense not to go for the
- 13:30Speaker 4: extra point to tie the game at thirteen. The Eagles
- 13:34Speaker 4: offense the entire second half was impotent. Hurts didn't complete
- 13:41Speaker 4: a pass. Kick the point tied at thirteen, go to
- 13:46Speaker 4: overtime and take your chances.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I would have never gone for the two point conversion.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Ironically, a lot of people are not killing McDermott for
- 13:55Speaker 4: going for two, which surprises me.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I don't get it. I wonder why Jose Josh gets
- 14:02Speaker 1: all the hate, but he's getting all the hate this
- 14:04Speaker 1: time around.
- 14:04Speaker 2: About you know, the best player usually does.
- 14:09Speaker 1: He was in a bad, bad spot there. I would
- 14:11Speaker 1: I would have kicked the pet pat And I get it.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Maybe the kicker missed a few times before, but you
- 14:15Speaker 1: gotta try him again.
- 14:16Speaker 4: I don't absolutely I know that previous kick had been blocked.
- 14:20Speaker 4: The Eagles blocked the previous extra point, but you gotta
- 14:23Speaker 4: go with the odds there. I mean, converting a two
- 14:26Speaker 4: point conversion is still around forty three, and an extra
- 14:32Speaker 4: point is even look bad.
- 14:34Speaker 1: That play looked awful. The way it unfolded just looked terrible.
- 14:37Speaker 2: No, it didn't.
- 14:38Speaker 4: It did extra point just even pushing it back from
- 14:41Speaker 4: you know, the two yard line to the fifteen, it's
- 14:45Speaker 4: still a ninety four percent uh success.
- 14:49Speaker 1: All right, Louis, let's talk and we we'll talk about
- 14:52Speaker 1: the Eagles to it a little bit, because that's one
- 14:55Speaker 1: of the most disarrayed teams that are going to playoffs
- 14:57Speaker 1: with a chance to do something again. And it's just
- 14:59Speaker 1: so funny because every year I feel like I hear
- 15:02Speaker 1: the fire Sirianni chance in Philly. Even though if they're
- 15:05Speaker 1: got twelve and what even if their records way over
- 15:09Speaker 1: five hundred and they're going to bake the playoffs, there
- 15:11Speaker 1: are still people that hate on the guy. It's just
- 15:13Speaker 1: so interesting to watch that whole thing. But they are
- 15:16Speaker 1: in a team, a team in disarray going to the playoffs.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Wouldn't you agree? I don't know.
- 15:20Speaker 4: If they're in disarray, something's not right. But I can't
- 15:23Speaker 4: say disarray because I mean, they won last week and
- 15:26Speaker 4: they'd be a really good team on the road in
- 15:31Speaker 4: bad weather conditions.
- 15:32Speaker 2: They won the division.
- 15:34Speaker 4: I mean, wouldn't we love to have a coach for
- 15:37Speaker 4: the teams that we root for like Sirianni, who has
- 15:39Speaker 4: gone to two Super Bowls already, and.
- 15:42Speaker 1: When his team is like in Week five, getting, he's getting,
- 15:46Speaker 1: he's yelling at the crowd and the crowd's jeering at him,
- 15:49Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden they make it the
- 15:51Speaker 1: super Bowl and win. Yeah, that shows the kind of
- 15:53Speaker 1: coach he is. He rallies the troops from the lowest
- 15:55Speaker 1: points and brings them up.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I mean, so.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Eagle fans are crazy and and and you know they
- 16:05Speaker 4: get they're unrealistic. You're they're unrealistic. I mean the Eagle success.
- 16:12Speaker 4: If you look at the Eagles success since Andy Reid
- 16:15Speaker 4: got there, he was there for what fourteen years and
- 16:18Speaker 4: then afterwards. My god, obviously as a Jet fan, I
- 16:23Speaker 4: mean I would I would be in heaven. How many
- 16:26Speaker 4: Champions Conference Championship games have they gone to?
- 16:29Speaker 2: The Eagles? How many Super Bowls have they gone to?
- 16:33Speaker 4: They've gone to UH one with Red, one with with
- 16:36Speaker 4: Doug Peterson as their head coach, two with Siriani.
- 16:39Speaker 2: They have a chance to go again this year. Don't
- 16:42Speaker 2: count them out this year, Alex. They still have a
- 16:44Speaker 2: chance to get there.
- 16:47Speaker 1: They're always the wild card that seems to just navigate
- 16:50Speaker 1: their way through. But we'll have to see for them. Now.
- 16:54Speaker 1: You wonder upbout the Giants and across the way. Look,
- 16:58Speaker 1: I thought last Sunday was a morale booster. I know
- 17:01Speaker 1: people were like, why didn't they lose? You don't want
- 17:04Speaker 1: to go to this. You don't want to make back
- 17:06Speaker 1: to back, you don't want to make you know, history,
- 17:09Speaker 1: losing ten straight for the first time since like the forties.
- 17:12Speaker 1: It's like, you don't want to make that kind of history.
- 17:14Speaker 4: So they lost ten straight last year, and if they
- 17:16Speaker 4: and they lost ninth straight, it would have been ten
- 17:18Speaker 4: straight two years in a row.
- 17:19Speaker 2: That was the history that they would have made.
- 17:21Speaker 1: And I think that would have been the same as
- 17:23Speaker 1: like the forties or something like that. There was something
- 17:26Speaker 1: you don't want that kind of thing. But but this
- 17:29Speaker 1: week we'll see. I mean, I think the Raiders got
- 17:31Speaker 1: the one pick. All this is say, I want them
- 17:34Speaker 1: to win on Sunday. I don't care about the picks.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I want them to end the season with some kind
- 17:38Speaker 1: of pride because that's where we That's what the frustration
- 17:40Speaker 1: is for me, is like even with the Jets, you
- 17:43Speaker 1: can lose, but you can't lose the way you're doing
- 17:45Speaker 1: it every week and expect, you know, people will be happy.
- 17:48Speaker 1: They're not losing. They're not even losing with passion. It's
- 17:51Speaker 1: like very much winning with passion or even losing with passion.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Now there's no passion on the Jet. Well we'll go
- 17:57Speaker 4: back to the Jets. There was no passion on the Jets.
- 18:00Speaker 4: There's no will to win, there's no pride, there's no nothing.
- 18:04Speaker 1: And at least you win this week, you show people, hey,
- 18:08Speaker 1: we give a crap heading into the next year.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Well, I think they've checked out. They've checked out, and
- 18:14Speaker 4: that's on that's on the coach. That's another another mark
- 18:18Speaker 4: against him. I cannot believe unless we're wrong, Alex and
- 18:23Speaker 4: on about eight o'clock on or nine o'clock on Sunday
- 18:26Speaker 4: night we get an alert that he's fired, or Monday
- 18:28Speaker 4: on Black Monday, he's fired.
- 18:30Speaker 2: He's going to be there.
- 18:31Speaker 4: And I think cannon Baum and Parcels have have influence
- 18:39Speaker 4: and I'm not sure if what he really wants to
- 18:40Speaker 4: fire him, but I mean what he's getting barbecued, and
- 18:45Speaker 4: deservingly so because it's his call. It's his call to
- 18:50Speaker 4: fire the coach. But again, I told you it's gonna
- 18:55Speaker 4: happen now. On the other side of the hallway at MetLife,
- 19:00Speaker 4: it looks like Joe Shane's going to be back. A
- 19:03Speaker 4: lot of people say, how could Joe Shane be back
- 19:05Speaker 4: after he's six and twenty seven? You trust Joe Shane
- 19:08Speaker 4: to be back to make to make trades if they do, you.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Know, it's the same fan base that once they see
- 19:15Speaker 1: they can win with scat Leak and and uh and Jackson,
- 19:20Speaker 1: those are his guys, right, So it'll be almost like.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Reese's pieces.
- 19:27Speaker 1: If these pieces can come together because Reese had a
- 19:30Speaker 1: really good draft board and all of a sudden they
- 19:32Speaker 1: win the Super Bowl. That was I know when new
- 19:35Speaker 1: of course he did the first one o eight because
- 19:37Speaker 1: of the Manning trade, but also Reese's pieces did well.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I can see what happening here next year with the Giants.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I think those pieces that Joe Shane's brought on board
- 19:45Speaker 1: keeps his job alive, I really do.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Well. That means they have to extend them.
- 19:53Speaker 4: So they extend him and they give him a three
- 19:56Speaker 4: year extension, then they fire him, fire him let during
- 20:01Speaker 4: the season next year.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean it's again, they're in a
- 20:08Speaker 2: tight They're in a tight spot.
- 20:09Speaker 1: The only mark againstand which is really the Gettlement era too,
- 20:13Speaker 1: is the mark him was giving forty five million to
- 20:18Speaker 1: Daniel Jones on letting Saquon walk. That's really his mark
- 20:23Speaker 1: that I can say anything about other than that. You know,
- 20:28Speaker 1: he did the right.
- 20:29Speaker 4: He did the right thing with Saquon letting him walk.
- 20:32Speaker 4: He did the right There's no doubt about it. What
- 20:35Speaker 4: would take one Barkley.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Be on the drum ranks in the last two years
- 20:38Speaker 2: instead of being.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Yeah, he should have just taken and we said it.
- 20:44Speaker 4: He should have just given uh Daniel Jones, you know,
- 20:49Speaker 4: exercises fifty year rookie options. He shouldn't have given them
- 20:51Speaker 4: all that money.
- 20:52Speaker 2: But he got out of it.
- 20:53Speaker 4: The Giants are gonna have significant cat money, so we
- 20:56Speaker 4: can't make mistakes.
- 20:57Speaker 1: This draft class alone saves show him job. That's kind
- 21:00Speaker 1: of how I look this class of twenty twenty five.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Even Abdul Carter could come into his own one seam
- 21:06Speaker 1: matures and doesn't skip a team meeting here or there.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I still think he will. I agree. I think that
- 21:12Speaker 2: Abdul Carter will mature.
- 21:16Speaker 1: So I think he's really locked in a good solid defense.
- 21:19Speaker 1: He's locked in the good offense. It's just now, well
- 21:22Speaker 1: he hasn't locked it in yet.
- 21:23Speaker 2: That defense sucks. Sucks, well, it does.
- 21:27Speaker 1: But I think they're not They're not positioned the right
- 21:30Speaker 1: way right now. I don't know why they're.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Going to get a new defensive coordinator.
- 21:35Speaker 1: And you know, I think people will judge who he
- 21:37Speaker 1: gets hired here. I mean, I think the Giants. Me
- 21:39Speaker 1: and Ryan Pagano were talking about this unpacks perspective. The
- 21:42Speaker 1: Giants resolution should be a coach that balances out Jackson's
- 21:47Speaker 1: playing time. I do think Dabel pushing him to actually
- 21:51Speaker 1: the point of concussion protocol was a downfall for Dabel.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I really believe that. To now, you gotta find a
- 21:58Speaker 1: coach that can make Jackson Dart shine but also reel
- 22:03Speaker 1: him in when you need to. I mean, there's gotta
- 22:05Speaker 1: be a balance here. Uh, they're gonna focus on Dart
- 22:08Speaker 1: as the corner so of the whole thing, well.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I think just Darts experience.
- 22:16Speaker 4: As he goes forward, he'll pull back. He's not going
- 22:20Speaker 4: to run like a crazy man and put himself in danger,
- 22:26Speaker 4: which would cost him time with a concussion or other
- 22:29Speaker 4: injuries a broken on, a broken leg and achilles tendon.
- 22:34Speaker 4: I mean, you know, I think that'll be fine. They
- 22:36Speaker 4: got Are they going to resign Wandel Robinson who had a.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Good year this year.
- 22:40Speaker 4: He's not a great receiver, but he's definitely Uh, he's
- 22:43Speaker 4: definitely a complimentary receiver.
- 22:45Speaker 1: He actually topped two thousand yards, yes, and that that
- 22:48Speaker 1: that's very that's very good for a guy that dropped
- 22:53Speaker 1: the ball a lot last year. I thought that him
- 22:56Speaker 1: being catching the ball was going to help the team
- 22:58Speaker 1: in the long run. I thought that it was a
- 23:00Speaker 1: good piece to begin the year. And then of course
- 23:02Speaker 1: while he's shining, everything else was falling apart. But you know,
- 23:05Speaker 1: at least Wandell was catching because I really felt bad
- 23:08Speaker 1: for him last year he kept dropping those balls. He
- 23:10Speaker 1: was booed all the time. It was not fun. And
- 23:14Speaker 1: here he is one thousand receiving yards. I mean, that's
- 23:16Speaker 1: a feel good story for the Giants if you're looking
- 23:18Speaker 1: for one in twenty twenty five, twenty six.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I would say that that's a feel good story.
- 23:24Speaker 4: The best story for the Giants is Jackson dar Once.
- 23:29Speaker 4: And I'm we're not saying that they hit on the
- 23:32Speaker 4: quarterback yet because they thought they hit on Daniel Jones,
- 23:34Speaker 4: or they would not have given them all that money
- 23:36Speaker 4: after his great victory in Minnesota in the playoff game.
- 23:40Speaker 2: But they have that.
- 23:41Speaker 4: It looks like they it's been a success. It's the
- 23:44Speaker 4: most important position with Jackson darr for the Jets. There's
- 23:48Speaker 4: really they're the one thing that that is good. It
- 23:51Speaker 4: looks like they have.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Put together a decent offensive line that believe it or not,
- 23:56Speaker 2: is he got.
- 23:56Speaker 1: A lock up, Priest Hall, you gotta sign him And
- 23:59Speaker 1: I don't.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I hope they do. I don't think I don't think
- 24:02Speaker 2: he's coming back.
- 24:03Speaker 4: I don't think he wants to be here anymore when
- 24:04Speaker 4: he sees the crap that has gone on this year.
- 24:09Speaker 4: The Chiefs should have given the Jets that third round
- 24:11Speaker 4: draft pick and they could have used him. Maybe they
- 24:13Speaker 4: would have snuck into the playoffs with him. But I
- 24:18Speaker 4: don't think that he's going to be here next year.
- 24:20Speaker 2: I hope he is. But you know, he sounds so down,
- 24:26Speaker 2: so depressed. Uh you know, well.
- 24:30Speaker 1: You know, and we're talking on the We're we're talking
- 24:36Speaker 1: on the Friday where the Winter Classico be. So I
- 24:38Speaker 1: want to get to hockey in a second.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:40Speaker 1: But one more thing about football is I noticed some
- 24:43Speaker 1: interesting parallels here. So the Miami Dolphins have brought in
- 24:49Speaker 1: troyman Ay Hall of Fame quarterback, and obviously he's a
- 24:53Speaker 1: great analysis. I like him with Joe Buck every year,
- 24:57Speaker 1: and he's gonna be a good I think he'll be
- 25:02Speaker 1: great for the Dolphins search here. But but at the
- 25:05Speaker 1: same time, the Athletic Today coming out of an article
- 25:07Speaker 1: pinning the Raiders failures ultimately on Tom Brady because they say, well,
- 25:12Speaker 1: Mark Davis has given complete football control of Tom Brady,
- 25:16Speaker 1: and I almost forgot that he was part of it.
- 25:18Speaker 1: But I wouldn't pin all this on Brady, that they're
- 25:21Speaker 1: screwed up so much.
- 25:22Speaker 2: No, not I not so far.
- 25:24Speaker 4: If he is going to take control moving forward, and
- 25:28Speaker 4: I'm glad you brought up Brady. By the way, Tom
- 25:30Speaker 4: Brady in the second year. In my opinion, I'm not
- 25:33Speaker 4: saying he's John Madden, but he has improved incredibly.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Are he and Burger a decent listen this year? I
- 25:42Speaker 1: really feel like.
- 25:43Speaker 4: No doubt, a solid listen, Alex, You're correct, but I don't.
- 25:48Speaker 4: If they're gonna put Brady in charge moving forward of
- 25:52Speaker 4: the Raiders football operations, he cannot be in the booth anymore.
- 25:56Speaker 4: He's gonna have to He's gonna have to give that up.
- 25:59Speaker 4: As he's doing it now. You know, he owns uh,
- 26:02Speaker 4: whatever he owns, he owns a minority ten percent whoeverdently owns.
- 26:06Speaker 4: And he doesn't have his his uh. He only has
- 26:09Speaker 4: a finger in the cookie jar or not the whole hand. Okay,
- 26:12Speaker 4: But if he is gonna be the guy, if he's
- 26:16Speaker 4: gonna be the guy, he needs to he needs to
- 26:19Speaker 4: give up his gig with Fox.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Why did the Gino Smith Pete Carroll reunion fail majorly
- 26:27Speaker 1: this year? Like I thought that was gonna.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Be a because the team stinks. They don't have any
- 26:32Speaker 2: calen That's why.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Uh.
- 26:35Speaker 1: And do you think Mark Davis is considered this because
- 26:38Speaker 1: he's getting a lot of heat for sitting it down.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I mean, look, and he sat down three guys that
- 26:42Speaker 1: were pretty much healthy to try and get it. It's
- 26:45Speaker 1: not looking good to me to sit healthy guys to
- 26:48Speaker 1: try and get a draft pick. That's just you don't
- 26:51Speaker 1: run football like that, I'm sorry, or any team like that.
- 26:54Speaker 4: No, Alex, you're again, You're You're right on the money.
- 26:57Speaker 4: I'm sure that Mark Davis was aware of it. I'm
- 27:02Speaker 4: sure Pete Carroll wants to win games because he might
- 27:06Speaker 4: be one and done. And if he's one and done,
- 27:09Speaker 4: on Sunday night or Monday morning, we hear that he's
- 27:13Speaker 4: no longer.
- 27:14Speaker 1: I take the Giant, I take him here and imagine
- 27:17Speaker 1: him and Russell working together, him and Jackson too, I
- 27:19Speaker 1: mean that would be in trouble.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Well, Russell Wilson will not be on Giants next year.
- 27:25Speaker 4: He will not be He'll be gone as soon as
- 27:28Speaker 4: they can cut him. He'll be cut. And but as
- 27:35Speaker 4: far as a coach, the Giants aren't going to hire
- 27:38Speaker 4: a seventy three year old, seventy four year old guy.
- 27:40Speaker 2: But I agree with you. In the right situation, I
- 27:43Speaker 2: hire I hire Carol for sure.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I mean just because he just because he didn't that
- 27:52Speaker 1: Marshall Lynch running into the five yardland, I can forgive
- 27:54Speaker 1: him if he wins the Super Bowl.
- 27:56Speaker 2: As a Giants head coach. Okay, so well again, when
- 28:00Speaker 2: you like to be there, when you like to be
- 28:02Speaker 2: there and have a chance, that's all. That's what you want,
- 28:06Speaker 2: a chance.
- 28:07Speaker 1: I mean, well, here was a dramatic tournament for the Giants.
- 28:11Speaker 1: This team was good, under gable the first year, and
- 28:15Speaker 1: then what happened. It's like they just well.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Let's let's break it down.
- 28:20Speaker 4: They started that year seven and two against a soft schedule.
- 28:25Speaker 2: They then the rest of the year they.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Go, they go two to five and one, and it's
- 28:31Speaker 4: been a disaster ever since. So it's not like they
- 28:36Speaker 4: went twelve and five. So Gients have a lot of
- 28:44Speaker 4: work to do. The Jets have a lot of work
- 28:45Speaker 4: to do. And but at least the Giants have Jackson Dart,
- 28:51Speaker 4: who looks like he's going to be a a NFL quarterback.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Oh no, he's He's got the poise, that's for sure.
- 28:58Speaker 1: And guess what, I think All missus getting some good
- 29:00Speaker 1: karma here because look at their run at the same time.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Uh into the uh into this into the college football
- 29:08Speaker 1: playoff where we'll go next, because up until last night's
- 29:13Speaker 1: Ole Miss Georgia game, it was pretty much blowouts. And
- 29:17Speaker 1: I mean, Heisman doze is real. But I thought Alabama
- 29:21Speaker 1: was going to be better yesterday at the Rose Bowl.
- 29:24Speaker 1: And then Oregon, well, I think he's like much from
- 29:27Speaker 1: Texas Tech. Uh, Oregon rolling over them as you called
- 29:30Speaker 1: it a snooze fest. Uh, it was a weird day
- 29:33Speaker 1: for college football because they hyped it up so much
- 29:35Speaker 1: and then really one game was was fascinating to watch,
- 29:39Speaker 1: not the all three of them.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Alex. I thought Texas Tech was going to beat Oregon.
- 29:45Speaker 4: I mean I thought they were because the Texas Tech
- 29:49Speaker 4: has a has a real good offense, I know, or
- 29:51Speaker 4: Oregon has a outstanding defense, even though against James Mass
- 29:56Speaker 4: in the second half, they took their foot off the
- 29:58Speaker 4: gas battle and James Mass rolled up like five hundred
- 30:01Speaker 4: yards against them, but they were so far ahead. It
- 30:03Speaker 4: didn't matter. James Masison wasn't gonna catch wasn't going to
- 30:06Speaker 4: catch up. But the performance that that Oregon put on
- 30:10Speaker 4: defensively yesterday was tremendous. Their offense was not great. I mean,
- 30:16Speaker 4: their two touchdowns drives were two yard touchdowns drive and
- 30:18Speaker 4: twenty eight yard touchdown drive. And but you're right, it
- 30:24Speaker 4: was really its snowsfest up until last night's game. Now,
- 30:27Speaker 4: let's quickly on the Rose Bowl, Alex. When was the
- 30:32Speaker 4: last time an Alabama team in a big game was
- 30:38Speaker 4: dominated like they were yesterday by Indiana.
- 30:43Speaker 2: That's what shocked me, That's what I mean.
- 30:47Speaker 4: The way they totally dominate Indiana was.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Really to me the surprise of the day as far
- 30:57Speaker 2: as such a I gaped.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Indiana looks like Alabama normally does in those big games.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Mendoza is great. Uh, Chet Signetti is a.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Fantastic I have the answer here for US Alabama's most
- 31:17Speaker 1: lopsided loss and lowest point total since Bear Bryant's Princessman
- 31:22Speaker 1: tied and the sixty blue bonnet ball in the three
- 31:25Speaker 1: to three tie with with Texas. I mean, that's interesting too,
- 31:31Speaker 1: but that's very interesting.
- 31:34Speaker 4: Uh yeah, So that that floored me. Uh, but you know,
- 31:39Speaker 4: in Indiana's for real. Now they gotta play Oregon again.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Now this is going to be the third time we're
- 31:45Speaker 4: going to see a repeat from a regular season game.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Alabama lost at home to Oklahoma, but in the playoffs
- 31:55Speaker 4: Alabama one at Oklahoma. Old Miss law to Georgia in
- 32:02Speaker 4: a regular season but all Miss won the rematch last night,
- 32:09Speaker 4: and uh, Indiana beat Oregon at Oregon.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Are they going to two times in a row? Even
- 32:16Speaker 2: if you look at the in the SEC Alabama.
- 32:20Speaker 4: Beat Georgia at Georgia, but in the SEC championship game,
- 32:24Speaker 4: Georgia beat Alabama. It's tough to win to be good
- 32:28Speaker 4: teams two times in a row. So we'll see.
- 32:32Speaker 1: But while you mentioning, these conference championships really need to
- 32:35Speaker 1: go and they should just decide them a different way,
- 32:38Speaker 1: and yeah they should.
- 32:39Speaker 4: They gotta get rid of the championship games and they
- 32:42Speaker 4: they should move up the.
- 32:43Speaker 1: U without them, you know, Tulane and without those championships,
- 32:49Speaker 1: tou Lane and for sure doesn't make it. Uh and
- 32:53Speaker 1: the other team that was sort of a surprise doesn't
- 32:55Speaker 1: make it also, But we'll have to see. It's gonna
- 32:59Speaker 1: be they do away with that. Maybe that would make
- 33:01Speaker 1: sense if they put it to sixteen teams. We'll have
- 33:03Speaker 1: to see, But I like Indiana's story chances and I
- 33:07Speaker 1: tell you Indiana Miami Indiana will miss would be fun.
- 33:11Speaker 1: But Indiana Miami because there'll actually be a home game
- 33:15Speaker 1: for Miami that would be intriguing. And so also, I
- 33:19Speaker 1: think those are the two most surprising teams of the
- 33:23Speaker 1: entire slate. Yeah, will miss a bit, but I mean Miami.
- 33:27Speaker 1: You thought maybe after winning against Irish that would be it,
- 33:31Speaker 1: but no, they just kept steamrolling everybody. So Indiana Miami
- 33:34Speaker 1: would be a fitting way to close out the college
- 33:36Speaker 1: football campaign.
- 33:37Speaker 4: It would be I mean, you have you have Indiana,
- 33:41Speaker 4: who has a tremendous basketball history but one of the
- 33:46Speaker 4: worst football histories, going against a team in Miami, a
- 33:51Speaker 4: college in Miami that has won many national championships and has,
- 33:56Speaker 4: you know, a very storied football history, So that that
- 33:59Speaker 4: would interesting. But uh, that got just real quickly. That
- 34:03Speaker 4: Old that Ole Miss Georgia game last night was tremendous. Uh.
- 34:08Speaker 4: Trinidad Chambliss, the quarterback for Old Miss spectacular. That was
- 34:13Speaker 4: an enjoyable game. And then there was a there was
- 34:15Speaker 4: so there was so much that you can really we could.
- 34:19Speaker 4: We could dissect that game for an hour, but that
- 34:23Speaker 4: was that was an exciting game that as you said,
- 34:26Speaker 4: that saved the day because the other two games were
- 34:29Speaker 4: not entertaining.
- 34:32Speaker 1: All Right, in a few minutes we have here. Let's
- 34:34Speaker 1: go to hockey because Winter Classic is tonight and I'm
- 34:39Speaker 1: gonna try and post it up before the Winter Classic. Rangers,
- 34:44Speaker 1: this is almost like their Christmas Day Knicks game, right
- 34:47Speaker 1: because they have a chance to read to take a
- 34:50Speaker 1: win and then reboot after that and make this a
- 34:53Speaker 1: better second half. I don't know they'll do it. I
- 34:57Speaker 1: don't know what they're gonna do against the Panthers, but
- 35:01Speaker 1: they need to continue their shutout. It's saying the apps.
- 35:04Speaker 1: They need to continue their shutout outdoor streak. How but
- 35:07Speaker 1: at the same time they need to use it as
- 35:09Speaker 1: a launch pad for a real run. People forget there
- 35:11Speaker 1: are almost a few points away from the eighth spot
- 35:15Speaker 1: in the comforts. It's doable, Lou, it is doable.
- 35:18Speaker 4: Well again, I mean I looked at the standings yesterday.
- 35:21Speaker 4: Remember last week we talked about one to sixteen. It
- 35:24Speaker 4: was only twelve points difference. Well it was, I think
- 35:27Speaker 4: before yesterday's games that it was one to sixteen, there
- 35:31Speaker 4: was only nine points difference. So it's doable for sure.
- 35:39Speaker 4: The Rangers have to become more consistent and Alex, some
- 35:43Speaker 4: of the guys, they might be cellos at the deadline,
- 35:46Speaker 4: because some of these guys just.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Might be you have run out their time in New York.
- 35:52Speaker 2: That's where you know it may come down to.
- 35:55Speaker 4: And you know they were just I know yesterday and
- 36:00Speaker 4: I lost sixty three and uh uh it.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Was not it was not a good day for them.
- 36:08Speaker 4: And you know, Tom Wilson retaviged on them a little
- 36:11Speaker 4: bit and nobody did.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Anything and uh in retaliation. So uh, they they got
- 36:20Speaker 2: some issues. They do.
- 36:22Speaker 4: So I don't I have no idea what what Mike Sullivan,
- 36:26Speaker 4: who obviously not only has the Rangers on his plate,
- 36:28Speaker 4: but he has the US Olympic team as head coach
- 36:31Speaker 4: on his plate.
- 36:32Speaker 2: So there's a there's a lot.
- 36:33Speaker 4: On on on Mike Sullivan's you know, ledger to handle.
- 36:39Speaker 4: They got they got that on Fox back. He played
- 36:42Speaker 4: well the other day in his first game back. Uh,
- 36:44Speaker 4: and assistant a goal. They need him, especially for the
- 36:48Speaker 4: foul play which has been terrible. Uh. And you know,
- 36:51Speaker 4: really for the three local teams. Is the power play
- 36:54Speaker 4: has been has been awful?
- 36:57Speaker 1: Uh and J T Miller, you know, I I saw
- 37:00Speaker 1: that he got hit. Now obviously he's been out for
- 37:02Speaker 1: a while getting closer though. Accorne to Molly Walker of
- 37:06Speaker 1: the Pops, I think he's on the team because they
- 37:09Speaker 1: pretty much assume he will be healthy by the Olympics.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Is that the h he was on the Olympic team.
- 37:14Speaker 2: I thought he may not make it.
- 37:17Speaker 4: I can't believe Jason Robertson or Cole Koefield didn't make
- 37:20Speaker 4: it for Team USA. But Tim is going to be
- 37:24Speaker 4: strong and I really want to see them whin the
- 37:26Speaker 4: gold medal this year.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Oh my god, I would love it. Burned in my
- 37:32Speaker 1: brain when they when when Sid the Kid knocked in
- 37:35Speaker 1: that game winning goal for Canada up in Vancouver, it.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Was just I remember it like it was yesterday.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Because was it Miller? I mean, the goalie for USA
- 37:46Speaker 1: was unbelievable that tournament.
- 37:47Speaker 2: He was he he was unbelievable.
- 37:50Speaker 4: And going into that tournament I had said to a
- 37:52Speaker 4: couple of my buddies, I think the USA has a
- 37:54Speaker 4: chance to medal because of Ryan Miller in goal.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Well, yeah, he not only.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Had a chance to medal, they had a chance to
- 38:01Speaker 4: win the gold medal, and he was voted the most
- 38:03Speaker 4: valuable player in the tournament back in twenty ten.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I was very.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Disappointed, you know. He that was interesting that Sydney Kid
- 38:12Speaker 1: wins it, but Miller gets the gold, you know, the
- 38:15Speaker 1: MVP of the whole thing, because he was on his
- 38:18Speaker 1: head for that team USA team who he was a
- 38:21Speaker 1: long tournament but as a sophomore in college, no freshman
- 38:25Speaker 1: in college, having to do a radio show the next
- 38:28Speaker 1: night was pretty stinging because I just I was hopeful.
- 38:31Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm gonna go on the air and talk
- 38:33Speaker 1: about this. Then he puts it in the net in
- 38:36Speaker 1: Sydney Kid fashion too, by the way. So and now
- 38:39Speaker 1: since then, we haven't beaten Canada, and I love to
- 38:41Speaker 1: beat Canada in something that would be nice.
- 38:44Speaker 2: I agree, Alex well.
- 38:47Speaker 4: The last few years and World Juniors are going on
- 38:50Speaker 4: right now. The USA has won back to back World
- 38:53Speaker 4: Juniors and right now they're in the knockout stage, so
- 38:58Speaker 4: we'll see if they can make.
- 38:59Speaker 1: A three in or I would won that every year.
- 39:01Speaker 1: I really liked that how that played out during the
- 39:04Speaker 1: season last year, like that was, oh, that was great.
- 39:08Speaker 1: And then the fact that Tim was saying Canada were
- 39:10Speaker 1: fighting five minutes into it was just it was, well.
- 39:13Speaker 4: That's one thing I'm gonna see in the Olympics, because
- 39:15Speaker 4: you can't fight in an international Olympic hockey that the
- 39:20Speaker 4: Four Nations was run by the NHL, and that's why
- 39:25Speaker 4: you had one of the wildest Saturday night games I've
- 39:28Speaker 4: ever seen in international play.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Oh my god. And by the way, I think in
- 39:33Speaker 1: the in the Olympics they count up still right, the
- 39:38Speaker 1: clock counts up to twenty minutes or is that different?
- 39:40Speaker 2: New that that that. I don't know what they're gonna
- 39:43Speaker 2: do this, how they're gonna do it this year.
- 39:45Speaker 4: I mean, obviously they used to play on the International
- 39:48Speaker 4: Ice Service and playing on NHL ie surface for this
- 39:52Speaker 4: tournament like they did for Four Nations like they did
- 39:54Speaker 4: in two thousand.
- 39:58Speaker 2: But I like the wider ice surface.
- 40:00Speaker 1: I do.
- 40:01Speaker 4: But that's what they're gonna That's what they're gonna be
- 40:03Speaker 4: doing this year, you know, and so we'll see what happens.
- 40:07Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to it.
- 40:08Speaker 4: I'm looking forward to Yeah, tournament starts clast tonight.
- 40:12Speaker 1: But should I go Jinks Jack Hughes tomorrow. So the
- 40:15Speaker 1: Utah Mammoth are making their first trip in and Louis
- 40:18Speaker 1: You know, the Utah Mammoth are in town. And yeah,
- 40:20Speaker 1: last year was their first year, but first year with
- 40:23Speaker 1: the team names a little different, a little more historic.
- 40:26Speaker 1: So I'm hoping to catch them either at the Garden
- 40:28Speaker 1: or in Newark and maybe, uh hopefully not Jinks Jack
- 40:33Speaker 1: Hughes this time around. But I have to say, people
- 40:36Speaker 1: forget that they were a strong team in the first
- 40:39Speaker 1: half of the season last year. Then you know, it
- 40:42Speaker 1: just didn't happen. But Utah has some players and they
- 40:45Speaker 1: have a foundation that they can build off of.
- 40:48Speaker 2: No question about it. They do.
- 40:51Speaker 4: And they whipped the Islanders yesterday and it wasn't it
- 40:57Speaker 4: wasn't even it wasn't even close.
- 41:00Speaker 2: I thought the Islanders would come out uh and uh
- 41:04Speaker 2: with a little.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Energy after they're three to two, should shootout when in
- 41:10Speaker 4: Chicago on on Christmas Eve, And that was just embarrassing
- 41:14Speaker 4: the way they played against the Mammoth yesterday.
- 41:17Speaker 2: I mean, Dylan Dunthor, one of the young.
- 41:20Speaker 4: Players, had you know, had a hat trick and really
- 41:24Speaker 4: the Islands were never in the game and it was
- 41:26Speaker 4: just one of those terrible performances, but even worse bow
- 41:29Speaker 4: and Morvath going into tunnel with another lower body body
- 41:34Speaker 4: into when he collided at the at the redline, you know.
- 41:40Speaker 2: The day after.
- 41:41Speaker 4: He made the Canadian Olympic team deservingly, So that's not
- 41:46Speaker 4: only hurts the Islanders, but he might not he might
- 41:50Speaker 4: not even make it on the the Olympic team.
- 41:53Speaker 2: I have no idea what his injury is.
- 41:55Speaker 4: As we talked here on Friday evening, there's no update
- 42:01Speaker 4: on his condition. But the Islanders need him because the
- 42:06Speaker 4: Islanders can't score. They can't score, and I think that's
- 42:09Speaker 4: that will do I think that what will do them
- 42:12Speaker 4: in over the course of the second half of the season.
- 42:14Speaker 4: Unless they make some kind of trade to add some
- 42:17Speaker 4: kind of scoring, I don't think they'll make the playoffs.
- 42:20Speaker 2: They can't score on the power play. We talked about
- 42:23Speaker 2: the Rangers issues on the power play, and.
- 42:27Speaker 1: You know, both teams limit up to igor and srok
- 42:30Speaker 1: and every night you can't do that.
- 42:31Speaker 2: You can't, You just can't, You just can't.
- 42:34Speaker 4: Then then you look at the Devils, who are just
- 42:37Speaker 4: I mean, they have their heads in the clouds and
- 42:40Speaker 4: they were ripped by their head coach, Sheldon Keith.
- 42:42Speaker 2: The other night.
- 42:44Speaker 4: Their five on five ineptitude is really a carry over
- 42:48Speaker 4: from last year. I think that thirtieth in the league
- 42:51Speaker 4: five on five. They're best players. Jasper Bratt, who did
- 42:55Speaker 4: make the Swedish team despite the fact he has not
- 42:58Speaker 4: had a good first half of the year. But the
- 43:02Speaker 4: Devil's best players, Bratt, Doug Hamilton, even Nikoheesha, they're ball
- 43:08Speaker 4: playing under their talent level.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Their goaltending hasn't been hasn't.
- 43:13Speaker 4: Been playoff worthy, so they got they have problems and
- 43:17Speaker 4: as I said to you, I don't know if Sheldon
- 43:19Speaker 4: Keith is going to be fired or not, but something
- 43:22Speaker 4: has to happen there or if f Itz Sheeralds has
- 43:25Speaker 4: to pull pull off some kind of trade.
- 43:27Speaker 2: You know. Uh. Shelton Keif the other night was candid.
- 43:30Speaker 4: He says, nobody on this team has any balls, and
- 43:34Speaker 4: you can't get more candid in the postgame prison than that.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Now you can't. Well, well, i'll see how that plays
- 43:41Speaker 1: out in the in their miniaturemaining. There are two things
- 43:43Speaker 1: I want to talk about with you, Louis, and we'll
- 43:46Speaker 1: get to the next in the Knicks next time because Okay,
- 43:50Speaker 1: we got we got a lot of time to talk
- 43:51Speaker 1: about them. But the twenty twenty five sports story of
- 43:55Speaker 1: the year for me was that the Mets let go
- 43:58Speaker 1: of their did you make an offer to their franchise
- 44:02Speaker 1: leading as of twenty twenty five home run hare in
- 44:06Speaker 1: Pete Alonso? Alonso living New York. You look at the
- 44:09Speaker 1: whole body of work at twenty twenty five is a
- 44:12Speaker 1: sports story of the year. I know it happened in offseason,
- 44:14Speaker 1: but it just I can't get over it.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Alex.
- 44:19Speaker 4: I totally agree with you, that is the top sports
- 44:21Speaker 4: story in New York Sports for twenty twenty five. I'm
- 44:27Speaker 4: shocked at that that he's not a Met. It still
- 44:30Speaker 4: hasn't sunk in. I guess they'll think in when I
- 44:34Speaker 4: see whoever, whoever they're gonna have at first base not
- 44:37Speaker 4: doing the job. Not re signing Alonso is beyond my comprehension.
- 44:46Speaker 4: It really, it really is. It hurts the fans. I
- 44:49Speaker 4: think it hurts that it hurts their brand. I think
- 44:54Speaker 4: in the next two three weeks we're gonna see a
- 44:56Speaker 4: lot of Major League Baseball action, not only with the
- 44:59Speaker 4: met but throughout major League Baseball.
- 45:01Speaker 2: If the Mets don't do something they might protest on
- 45:07Speaker 2: opening day at City Field.
- 45:09Speaker 4: But you're right that to me, that's the top story
- 45:11Speaker 4: of twenty twenty five in sports with the major with
- 45:15Speaker 4: the major sports teams that we have here.
- 45:20Speaker 1: And then talk about Mendoza earlier. And I know you
- 45:22Speaker 1: had one name that people shall look out for in
- 45:25Speaker 1: this draft? Who is it, Louis? Who is going to
- 45:27Speaker 1: be the breakout quarterback, breakout star to look out for
- 45:31Speaker 1: this upcoming draft?
- 45:33Speaker 2: Well, it depends.
- 45:34Speaker 4: We have to say who's who's coming out? Is Dante
- 45:37Speaker 4: More going to come out? If he comes out, that
- 45:39Speaker 4: helps the Jets. I know, I think mel Kiper has
- 45:44Speaker 4: him as the number one player in the draft. If
- 45:46Speaker 4: he comes out, that will help the Jets because there'll
- 45:49Speaker 4: be two quarterbacks unless the Jets do something stupid on
- 45:53Speaker 4: Sunday and actually win the game. But no, the Bills
- 45:55Speaker 4: aren't going to let that happen. It's not even going
- 45:58Speaker 4: to be close. It's gonna be another massacre like like
- 46:01Speaker 4: last week. Even though Josh Allen probably will play one
- 46:05Speaker 4: series and then just to extend his consecutive game streak,
- 46:12Speaker 4: but yeah, probably it probably would be what would be
- 46:16Speaker 4: Dante uh uh uh you know, Dante more I don't
- 46:21Speaker 4: know who else is coming out. I don't know what
- 46:27Speaker 4: pro scouts think of Trinidad Chamberliss, if he's.
- 46:30Speaker 2: An NFL prospect.
- 46:31Speaker 4: He played, I thought he played great last night against
- 46:34Speaker 4: Old Miss, and I saw him play a number.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Of times.
- 46:38Speaker 4: This season, and uh, the kid could the kid could
- 46:43Speaker 4: throw on the run, but he may not. I don't
- 46:45Speaker 4: know how the scouts have him as a prospect. You know,
- 46:48Speaker 4: Mendoz can make every three, but we know that's you know,
- 46:52Speaker 4: we know that's not going to be a surprise. But
- 46:55Speaker 4: there will be a quarterback in this draft that will
- 46:59Speaker 4: probably be drafted in the second round, late first round,
- 47:02Speaker 4: the early third round that nobody figured.
- 47:04Speaker 2: So but again, we got to wait till you know.
- 47:06Speaker 2: The other thing is Alex, wait till wait till the
- 47:09Speaker 2: combine and Indianapolis.
- 47:12Speaker 4: See who rises up, see who drops off, drops off
- 47:19Speaker 4: the radar screen a little bit.
- 47:22Speaker 2: So so well, we'll see.
- 47:23Speaker 4: But I think if Dante Moore comes out, and I
- 47:25Speaker 4: assume he will, he has until January fifteenth to declare
- 47:30Speaker 4: that that would shake up the top of the draft board.
- 47:35Speaker 1: And then you mentioned him about Art Maning, that's the
- 47:37Speaker 1: guy we look out for right well.
- 47:39Speaker 4: I mean I wish he was coming out this year,
- 47:42Speaker 4: and I know he didn't. Hasn't had as good a
- 47:44Speaker 4: year as a Mendoza, but from the.
- 47:47Speaker 2: Beginning of the year and this is his first year
- 47:49Speaker 2: as a full time starter through the end of the year.
- 47:53Speaker 2: And I'm not one for these ball games. I think
- 47:55Speaker 2: they mean nothing.
- 47:56Speaker 4: They mean nothing, but just looking at the way he
- 47:59Speaker 4: played and I only saw the second half against Michigan,
- 48:06Speaker 4: the guy's ready, Alex. The guy hasn't proved See, that's
- 48:09Speaker 4: how good he is. He closed the gap from where
- 48:12Speaker 4: he was from that opening game against Ohio State to
- 48:16Speaker 4: the end of the season. And if he was in
- 48:19Speaker 4: the draft, I think he'd be the number one guy picked.
- 48:24Speaker 4: He's going to be again for the second straight year.
- 48:27Speaker 4: He's going to go in as the odds on favorite
- 48:29Speaker 4: to win a Heydmand Trophy. But I think next year
- 48:32Speaker 4: he's going to win the Heisman Trophy unless he gets hurt.
- 48:35Speaker 4: I mean, I think he should be coming out this year.
- 48:38Speaker 4: I think it's a big mistake having him go back
- 48:40Speaker 4: to Texas. That's just my observation. I think arch Manning
- 48:45Speaker 4: is going to be a spectacular NFL quarterback.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Well, Lily, I'm gonna wish you outy new year on that.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I gotta get back to my radio job, but I
- 48:56Speaker 1: want to catch up before we did that. We have
- 48:58Speaker 1: more and we'll catch up next week on Termino's take.
- 49:02Speaker 1: But what is your number one resolution for yourself in
- 49:04Speaker 1: twenty six?
- 49:08Speaker 4: Uh, my number one resolution for myself is to uh
- 49:11Speaker 4: make sure I'm healthy enough to be with on you
- 49:13Speaker 4: every week so we could.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Talk sports, which I enjoy so much. And it's gonna
- 49:17Speaker 2: be a lot of good stuff happening.
- 49:18Speaker 4: We have the Olympics, we'll get at the NCAA tournament
- 49:22Speaker 4: at the start of the baseball season, and both of
- 49:24Speaker 4: our team, the teams that we both follow.
- 49:26Speaker 1: WBC also, that's gonna be fun that And there's.
- 49:31Speaker 4: So many Yankees and Mets involved in the WBC this
- 49:34Speaker 4: year that what a waste of time.
- 49:37Speaker 1: That is what a was I know, and I got
- 49:41Speaker 1: youse like for the games themselves. I have to use
- 49:44Speaker 1: fill ins for these spring training games because all the
- 49:46Speaker 1: stars are out of.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Yeah, you're right, but yeah, and hey, I hope everybody
- 49:53Speaker 4: is happy healthy.
- 49:55Speaker 1: And uh, we enjoy really grab a bat the Mets.
- 49:58Speaker 1: The Mets might need you any way this year, So yeah, no,
- 50:02Speaker 1: maybe as a bad you know what, while I have you,
- 50:04Speaker 1: do you think fans are gonna get pissed at Cohen
- 50:08Speaker 1: if they find he's too intrigued in getting this casino going,
- 50:11Speaker 1: but having a crappy team on the field like it, just.
- 50:14Speaker 4: As no question the fans will revolt. They'll be pissed off.
- 50:22Speaker 4: They might say, boy, maybe we should bring the wolf
- 50:24Speaker 4: Ponds back. No, I mean it's not gonna be good.
- 50:29Speaker 1: So for a guy who says he's gonna spend a
- 50:31Speaker 1: lot of money, he'd only really done one big contract
- 50:34Speaker 1: with Juan Soto, I wasna do much else since.
- 50:38Speaker 4: Yeah, well it's gonna it's we're gonna see what's gonna
- 50:41Speaker 4: what's gonna happen, Where Belger goes, where Kyle Tucker goes,
- 50:46Speaker 4: where Frame Valdez goes. To the Mexican US as a picture,
- 50:49Speaker 4: for sure would be a terrific addition to their staff.
- 50:52Speaker 2: To have left the arrange A Suarez division, Right, So you.
- 50:56Speaker 1: See the the oios Ad Alonso, the Raiser are I
- 51:00Speaker 1: think gonna be okay? The Jays I think they love
- 51:04Speaker 1: to get bo Bischet from the Jas and take him
- 51:06Speaker 1: out of their clutches. But the Red Sox, I know
- 51:09Speaker 1: Bregman's a free agent, but they just added Wilson Contreras.
- 51:13Speaker 1: These teams continue to add people while the Yanks are
- 51:15Speaker 1: doing nothing. That's the frustration. I saw a graphic on
- 51:18Speaker 1: WB Network of all four teams in the at least
- 51:21Speaker 1: adding somebody. But the Yanks were on that list. Where
- 51:24Speaker 1: are they?
- 51:25Speaker 4: Like? It makes you, yeah, and that is so much
- 51:27Speaker 4: Yankee like. But you gotta figure that Cashman has something
- 51:32Speaker 4: up his sleeve.
- 51:34Speaker 1: You might be trading Jazz Chisholm. We'll have to see
- 51:37Speaker 1: if that comes down the pike here.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Well, if they do that, they might sign Baschett.
- 51:42Speaker 4: And yes, that's just amount a very good year for
- 51:44Speaker 4: the Yankees, but's a better offensive place.
- 51:48Speaker 1: I don't know, call me crazy I and maybe because
- 51:52Speaker 1: I know him well, I still trust Cashman. I think
- 51:55Speaker 1: he despite what happened that first game after the deadline,
- 51:58Speaker 1: I thought he did well with the bullpen relief last year.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I still approve of some of the stuff he's doing.
- 52:04Speaker 1: It's just you got to add a couple of names
- 52:05Speaker 1: in a couple of beats here. That's all he's got
- 52:07Speaker 1: to do. So but adding Bellinger is not enough.
- 52:12Speaker 4: No, adding Belger, especially from a Mets perspective, adding Belger
- 52:16Speaker 4: is not enough unless they think some of these kids,
- 52:21Speaker 4: you know, in a minor is like uh uh you
- 52:24Speaker 4: know benj and uh some other people are going to
- 52:27Speaker 4: be able to make that big of an impact if
- 52:29Speaker 4: they come up this year.
- 52:30Speaker 2: That I don't know. But again, you know, sometimes, as
- 52:35Speaker 2: we said.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Those more playing time. I was telling Ryan this the
- 52:38Speaker 1: other day. Give Vieno's more playing time this year.
- 52:40Speaker 2: So well, he's got to come through. I mean he
- 52:43Speaker 2: was after that great first year.
- 52:45Speaker 1: He was.
- 52:48Speaker 2: You know, he was.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Terrible and and and but the Yanks they can't bank
- 52:52Speaker 1: on a solid rotation. They got up to line up
- 52:55Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 52:56Speaker 2: So because we.
- 52:57Speaker 1: All know what happens, only don't at all an Aaron judge.
- 53:01Speaker 1: And that's not that's almost like everything falling on igor
- 53:04Speaker 1: every night. You know, it just is not good.
- 53:07Speaker 2: No, And Alex, I'll leave you with this, I know
- 53:09Speaker 2: you got to go.
- 53:12Speaker 4: So last year, Alonzo was batting behind Sodo and Soto
- 53:15Speaker 4: had one hundred and twenty seven.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Walks. Who's gonna protect Soto this year?
- 53:22Speaker 1: Is he?
- 53:23Speaker 4: Is he gonna be walked one hundred and sixty times.
- 53:26Speaker 4: So I cannot believe that the Mets who invested all
- 53:30Speaker 4: this Smarty and Sodo are going to leave him naked
- 53:34Speaker 4: with nobody behind him to protect him.
- 53:37Speaker 2: A solid player, somebody.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Remember lasting He's like, oh, I don't have enough. He
- 53:42Speaker 1: was like saying stupid things about how he misses hitting
- 53:45Speaker 1: in front of judge, and.
- 53:46Speaker 2: It's like, did he really say that? Did he really
- 53:48Speaker 2: say that, Alex?
- 53:49Speaker 6: Because I don't remember that, And I'm like, Alonso's just
- 53:53Speaker 6: a solid hitter and people, and actually his comments to
- 53:58Speaker 6: the post really made Alonzo fired up because he went
- 54:00Speaker 6: on to hit all those homers after that hard game.
- 54:04Speaker 7: Well, unfortunately he's going to be He's going to be
- 54:07Speaker 7: hitting all those home runs in Camden Yards this year
- 54:10Speaker 7: and that's gonna suck for met fantasy that well, and Alex, Alex.
- 54:16Speaker 4: I think they come in, they come in. They played
- 54:19Speaker 4: the Orioles this year at City Field. I'm sure you'll
- 54:22Speaker 4: be tending of those games.
- 54:24Speaker 2: One of those games.
- 54:25Speaker 1: I gotta come back for the tribute video and see
- 54:27Speaker 1: what the how they are.
- 54:28Speaker 4: Well, he does, you know, an anti tribute video, but
- 54:31Speaker 4: he deserves a tribute video.
- 54:33Speaker 1: Of course he does. He does he's the life of
- 54:35Speaker 1: the Mets, as does Nemo when he comes back.
- 54:38Speaker 2: Absolutely no doubt.
- 54:41Speaker 1: But we'll see. And by the way, the Marlins acquired
- 54:45Speaker 1: someone from the Dodgers. Name doesn't really matter. It's the
- 54:50Speaker 1: fact that Dodge actually gave up someone this offseason. I'm
- 54:54Speaker 1: more impressed with.
- 54:55Speaker 2: Yes, that's a very good point, my friend.
- 55:00Speaker 1: All Right, Louis, I'll talk to you later. Happy New Year.
- 55:02Speaker 1: We'll do this again next week.
- 55:03Speaker 2: Happy New Year. Thank you, Alex. Appreciate you.
- 55:06Speaker 1: Terminalo's take up to begin twenty twenty six. Here on one.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Look up, Alex, I appreciate you, Louis. That was perfect, man.
- 55:16Speaker 2: No, I appreciate you.
