- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, uh huh, I sure will come on to everybody.
- 0:07Speaker 2: You'll listen to the voice.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Come on, dig me now, one and only Steve Harvey
- 0:12Speaker 1: got a radio show.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yep. Yeah.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Sometimes all I can say, yelp, man, how far I've
- 0:22Speaker 1: come is really unbelievable.
- 0:24Speaker 2: But you know I finally figured it out. Man.
- 0:27Speaker 1: God allowed me to have the life I've had so
- 0:34Speaker 1: that I can become experienced at so many different things,
- 0:39Speaker 1: and in this experience, when I'm talking and sharing with people,
- 0:43Speaker 1: I will be able to relate to a lot of
- 0:45Speaker 1: different circumstances, not exact, but just the circumstances.
- 0:49Speaker 2: You know.
- 0:49Speaker 1: You know if a person comes to me and they say, man,
- 0:52Speaker 1: I've been down and out, Okay, well I know what
- 0:54Speaker 1: that is.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Man.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I didn't I didn't have any direction. Okay, got that
- 0:58Speaker 1: been there?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Man?
- 1:00Speaker 1: At one point in time, Man, I just kept piling
- 1:03Speaker 1: mistake on top of mistakes.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:08Speaker 1: So you know, I think what I'm trying to say
- 1:11Speaker 1: to everybody is when you're going through life and life
- 1:15Speaker 1: is dealing the cards that it deals, I want you
- 1:19Speaker 1: to understand that life deals everybody these cards, the disappointment card,
- 1:25Speaker 1: the setback card, the failure card, the mishap card, the
- 1:32Speaker 1: unexpected misery card, everybody gonna get, the grief card, everybody
- 1:38Speaker 1: gonna get, the rash of bad decision card, everybody gonna
- 1:42Speaker 1: get them. Understand that going in that everybody is gonna
- 1:48Speaker 1: get these cards is how you play them, though, you know,
- 1:56Speaker 1: from time to time, one more time, it's how you
- 1:58Speaker 1: play them, you know. From time to time. When I'm
- 2:01Speaker 1: watching TV, I love to watch the World Series of Poker.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I like watching poker tournaments on TV because it's really weird.
- 2:12Speaker 1: What's happened to sport? To a poker they're actually trying
- 2:16Speaker 1: to call it a sport, you know. And as to
- 2:18Speaker 1: everyday guy that doesn't have to be athletically inclined to anything,
- 2:23Speaker 1: who has a shot of winning a title if they
- 2:27Speaker 1: play their cards right. The best poker players in the
- 2:31Speaker 1: world don't have the best hands.
- 2:35Speaker 2: They just make the best plays.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I've seen guys win a hand with nine to two
- 2:41Speaker 1: in they hand that's nothing, and win the hand because
- 2:45Speaker 1: they knew the bluff, they knew the odds, they calculated risks,
- 2:51Speaker 1: they made the stakes higher than the other person was
- 2:54Speaker 1: willing to pay. They gave off the illusion that they
- 2:58Speaker 1: had something when an actual life, they had nothing. So
- 3:03Speaker 1: what I enjoy about poker and watching it is that
- 3:07Speaker 1: these people, these people here, play the hand they dealt
- 3:13Speaker 1: and it ain't always a good hand. But it ain't
- 3:16Speaker 1: whether your hand is good. And it ain't whether you're
- 3:18Speaker 1: gonna get dealt bad cards or not, because you're gonna
- 3:21Speaker 1: get dealt some bad cars. Everybody ain't finna get two
- 3:23Speaker 1: bullets in their hand. You ain't finna get two aces
- 3:25Speaker 1: when you get dealt. Uh.
- 3:27Speaker 2: You know, when you.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Play a draw poker, some of your cards gonna be nothing,
- 3:31Speaker 1: but you gotta turn that nothing into something. So when
- 3:34Speaker 1: you get dealt these cards in life, it ain't the
- 3:36Speaker 1: fact that you getting to keep getting them dealt. I
- 3:39Speaker 1: was talking with a young person yesterday and we were
- 3:42Speaker 1: talking and we keep having the same conversation over and
- 3:45Speaker 1: over and over, and they could not understand why they
- 3:48Speaker 1: were not moving forward. But I said, you don't understand.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Every time we talk we have the exact same conversation.
- 3:55Speaker 1: It is simply because you keep getting your cards and
- 4:00Speaker 1: you playing them the same way. See, until you make
- 4:03Speaker 1: a conscience of the conscious decision to do something different,
- 4:08Speaker 1: the results will continue to be the same. See here's
- 4:14Speaker 1: here's here's the way this works. When you're dealt to
- 4:18Speaker 1: disappointments in life. It's how you handle the disappointments that
- 4:23Speaker 1: determine their outcome and who you are. Because everybody gonna
- 4:27Speaker 1: be disappointment. Everybody gonna lose a loved one, Everybody gonna
- 4:30Speaker 1: make a bad decision. Everybody gonna end wake up one
- 4:33Speaker 1: morning and have done something they regretted. Everybody gonna get
- 4:36Speaker 1: caught at the wrong time. Every everybody gonna make a mistake.
- 4:41Speaker 2: It ain't just you.
- 4:42Speaker 1: That's how you play your cards when they get dealt
- 4:45Speaker 1: to you. That determine who you are. Now, how do
- 4:48Speaker 1: I play my cards better? First of all, it's a mindset.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Quit looking at everything as just the end when it
- 4:55Speaker 1: happens to you.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Oh lord, woe is me?
- 4:58Speaker 1: No, everybody got your circumstances somewhere.
- 5:03Speaker 2: It ain't old woe as me. It's hold on, man.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Okay, let me play this out to see how God
- 5:09Speaker 1: done connected this to something else. See soon as a
- 5:12Speaker 1: person have a set back, what's the first thing A
- 5:13Speaker 1: lot of people do. They go straight negative. I can't
- 5:16Speaker 1: see even get a break, I can't seem to move forward.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Hold on Man, do you realize this could be connected
- 5:22Speaker 1: to something? See, you got to understand, man, that this
- 5:25Speaker 1: thing is all connected. That you not having these mishaps
- 5:28Speaker 1: and these spills and accidents and falls for no reason.
- 5:32Speaker 1: It's so you can become experienced at them. So when
- 5:35Speaker 1: he takes you to the next level, when it happens again,
- 5:38Speaker 1: you'll have no how and how.
- 5:39Speaker 2: To handle it.
- 5:40Speaker 1: If you keep throwing yourself off the cliff every time
- 5:43Speaker 1: something happened, you just gonna be a cliff diverl man,
- 5:47Speaker 1: stop tripping yourself out. I was talking to this young person.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I kept saying, and you know what, they tried to
- 5:53Speaker 1: tell me. I'm trying to stay positive. But the people
- 5:56Speaker 1: around here they just killing that.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Oh. I see.
- 6:00Speaker 1: So when you learn something and you know something, you
- 6:03Speaker 1: don't take ownership of it. You allow other people to
- 6:07Speaker 1: come into what you know and believe and shake it
- 6:10Speaker 1: loose from you. I don't care who you are. You
- 6:12Speaker 1: not doing me like that. Here's a deal. I have
- 6:15Speaker 1: a gift that was given to me from God. That
- 6:17Speaker 1: is the gift of comedy. That's what I've done. I've
- 6:19Speaker 1: made the bulk of my living on that skill set.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Right there, there are comedians who are supposedly friends of mine,
- 6:27Speaker 1: who I've worked with, who get around in huddles with
- 6:30Speaker 1: one another and they say, man, Steve really ain't funny.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I don't see what they be laughing at. He ain't
- 6:35Speaker 1: funny to me. He wasn't the funniest king to me.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Excuse me, You're irrelevant in this conversation because irregardless as
- 6:44Speaker 1: to how you feel about me, there are people think
- 6:47Speaker 1: that I'm knocked down kill over funny. But more importantly,
- 6:50Speaker 1: I own the gift that God gave to me. I
- 6:54Speaker 1: take ownership of his blessing. Cause you don't think it
- 6:57Speaker 1: so you ain't taking that from me. Stop letting people
- 7:00Speaker 1: steal your joy. Stop letting people take what you're supposed
- 7:04Speaker 1: to know. Look, I'm a I'm a kind.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Person at heart. Man.
- 7:10Speaker 1: You ain't nothing now you said here going? Man, I
- 7:12Speaker 1: guess I ain't. What's your tripping for? You are a
- 7:15Speaker 1: kind person own that take ownership of it. Stop letting
- 7:22Speaker 1: things God has given you be taken away from others.
- 7:25Speaker 1: The devil is a cold player, and he got cold
- 7:27Speaker 1: players working for him, just shaking, just taking stuff from you.
- 7:31Speaker 1: You know, I'm a hard worker. I really am intelligent.
- 7:34Speaker 2: You stupid man. I thought I was a hard worker. Man.
- 7:38Speaker 2: They came in here and said I was stupid. Man.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I don't know what I'm doing wrong. What excuse me?
- 7:44Speaker 2: You're a very bright person. Hey, y'all take ownership.
- 7:47Speaker 1: When God gives you something, blesses you would a gift,
- 7:50Speaker 1: a talent, a skill set, a mindset.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Own it.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Don't let people come in here and take it from you. Man, Okay,
- 7:57Speaker 1: I probably shouldn't have went that here.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Let me easy. Steve Harvey Morning Show
