- 0:07Speaker 2: The World's a Biget podcasts.
- 0:14Speaker 3: By from Patriots Mini Camp.
- 0:15Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:20Speaker 3: All right, Welcome to day too of Patriots Mandatory Mini Camp.
- 0:24Speaker 3: We are high above the practice feels at Jillette Stadium.
- 0:27Speaker 4: It's Fred Kersh, Paul Pirello, Mike you So later to
- 0:31Speaker 4: be joined by Tamara Brown and Evan Lazarre, and we're
- 0:34Speaker 4: gonna bring you everything we see and hear from Patriots
- 0:37Speaker 4: practice today. Uh, probably for the next couple hours or so,
- 0:42Speaker 4: as we did yesterday. It's day two and let's get
- 0:46Speaker 4: right into it. Guys, after one day of Mandatory Mini Camp.
- 0:50Speaker 4: What are your observations?
- 0:53Speaker 5: Go ahead, It was a light day. I mean, I
- 0:56Speaker 5: don't think there was a ton to you know, really glean.
- 0:58Speaker 5: I thought the offense, you don't, made a couple of
- 1:00Speaker 5: plays here. I thought the defense was throwing a lot
- 1:02Speaker 5: of different kind of looks at the offense.
- 1:04Speaker 6: Which I just you know, when you get into mini camp,
- 1:06Speaker 6: you're not really sure how much you're just installing if you're.
- 1:08Speaker 5: Kind of in a base kind of offense. Hi, I'm here.
- 1:17Speaker 6: So to get back to what I actually said, wondering
- 1:19Speaker 6: why I couldn't hear myself, uh light day yesterday, I thought,
- 1:22Speaker 6: I thought the defense threw a lot of you know twists,
- 1:24Speaker 6: a lot of you know, guys coming and going you're
- 1:26Speaker 6: not sure you know some uh you know disguise that
- 1:28Speaker 6: they're often you know, known for. Uh. So I thought
- 1:31Speaker 6: that stuff was interesting, a couple of nice throws from Mac,
- 1:33Speaker 6: but but overall not a highly competitive practice with a
- 1:36Speaker 6: lot to glean from.
- 1:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I would agree with Mike one hundred percent on that.
- 1:40Speaker 7: And I thought, you know how Fred, we like to say,
- 1:43Speaker 7: we don't know exactly what the goal was for practice
- 1:45Speaker 7: every day, you know, especially at this time of year
- 1:48Speaker 7: when there's mostly evaluations. I thought yesterday was a day
- 1:50Speaker 7: that was more designed to a defense. I thought they,
- 1:53Speaker 7: you know, like Mike said, they dialed up some pressures.
- 1:56Speaker 7: I thought they gave some different looks. At one point
- 1:58Speaker 7: we even saw a cornerback blitz. And I do think
- 2:01Speaker 7: that the offense, for the most part, handled some of
- 2:04Speaker 7: those looks pretty well. But I thought the defense was
- 2:06Speaker 7: a little bit better yesterday. Now, I don't know if
- 2:09Speaker 7: that was by design. I don't know if that was
- 2:10Speaker 7: something that was supposed to be that way. But I
- 2:13Speaker 7: would also agree with Mike and that most, if not
- 2:15Speaker 7: everything was done at half speed or less.
- 2:18Speaker 4: We even saw one session where Malie Cunningham was giving
- 2:20Speaker 4: the defense the starting you know, what we think of
- 2:23Speaker 4: is the starting defensive guys looks you know, for a
- 2:27Speaker 4: mobile quarterback. So that was interesting to see. I kind
- 2:31Speaker 4: of have a pet peeve that a little rant.
- 2:35Speaker 5: I love rants, especially early in the show.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Listen.
- 2:37Speaker 4: I know that it's called mandatory mini caamp, and when
- 2:41Speaker 4: somebody doesn't show up for mandatory minicamp, you want to
- 2:44Speaker 4: know why, you know. I think that's a story. I think,
- 2:47Speaker 4: you know, like who's here, who's not here? Definitely a story.
- 2:51Speaker 4: But I hear people saying that the story of minicamp
- 2:55Speaker 4: today was attendance. Really name one mandatory minicamp where everybody
- 3:01Speaker 4: was there for.
- 3:01Speaker 3: The Patriots, for any team.
- 3:03Speaker 5: I can't give you the specific years, but more often
- 3:05Speaker 5: than not that's.
- 3:06Speaker 4: The case most of the guys. But there's always somebody,
- 3:08Speaker 4: whether it's injury. In this case, there might.
- 3:11Speaker 5: No injuries are here, yeah, but I'm talking about Lawrence
- 3:14Speaker 5: Guy and Trent.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Yeah, there's always something. I mean we you know, Lawrence
- 3:19Speaker 4: guy reportedly might be holding out. Okay, they treated you know,
- 3:24Speaker 4: that's a story. But like I heard somebody say, that's
- 3:27Speaker 4: a sign of the dysfunction going on in Foxborough. Really
- 3:31Speaker 4: and then they and then this person you know, went
- 3:34Speaker 4: on to list all the other people that have held
- 3:36Speaker 4: out before.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And it's a list of people on this team that have.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Held out before.
- 3:41Speaker 4: It's it's not you know, I mean, come on, listen,
- 3:45Speaker 4: we want we take attendance for a reason. We want
- 3:47Speaker 4: to know who's here, who's not here. Perfectly valid, But
- 3:50Speaker 4: like the story of Mini Camp, in my opinion, was
- 3:53Speaker 4: not attendance yesterday. I mean, Trent Bown missed a missed
- 3:57Speaker 4: a plane. He's probably gonna get disciplined for that, absolutely,
- 4:01Speaker 4: But I think there's a lot more to talk about
- 4:03Speaker 4: than who was here and who wasn't here.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it's part of the story.
- 4:07Speaker 3: I agree with you.
- 4:07Speaker 7: If if people were taking it as that's a sign
- 4:10Speaker 7: of the dysfunction or whatever.
- 4:11Speaker 3: You're taking it too far.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I heard those exact words.
- 4:14Speaker 7: Then that's that's taking one of your shows. Let's take
- 4:16Speaker 7: it too far. Now, I would say, well, none of
- 4:18Speaker 7: my shows are on in the morning, so.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Oh, divorcing himself from the morning.
- 4:22Speaker 5: Don't do anything in the morning.
- 4:24Speaker 7: You don't do anything but part time contributor in the
- 4:27Speaker 7: mid days with so and Beatle and I'm a regular
- 4:29Speaker 7: contributor with Felgrims.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Those are my shows. But anything pretty much anything shows.
- 4:38Speaker 7: But I would say, if you're trying to characterize it
- 4:40Speaker 7: that the way you just explained it, I would agree
- 4:42Speaker 7: with you, Freddie, I think that's taking it way too
- 4:44Speaker 7: far into a level that's not really in existence.
- 4:48Speaker 3: I do think that the the Attendant yesterday.
- 4:51Speaker 5: Was a story.
- 4:53Speaker 7: It was one of the things that I was I
- 4:54Speaker 7: was really interested in as we started the show to
- 4:57Speaker 7: see if Trent Brown and Lawrence Guy in Juju's Smith
- 5:00Speaker 7: Schuster to use the three guys that we were in
- 5:02Speaker 7: Matthew Judon. Those are four guys that we really didn't
- 5:04Speaker 7: see at all during the spring. We think Smith Schuster
- 5:07Speaker 7: is hurt because we always here. Judon was out on
- 5:09Speaker 7: the field and the other two weren't right. So I
- 5:11Speaker 7: don't think that's like whoa. I mean, we got to
- 5:14Speaker 7: get rid of this whole regime, right, you know, the
- 5:16Speaker 7: foundation is falling apart of it. You know, as we speak,
- 5:19Speaker 7: but I do think that was part of this.
- 5:20Speaker 4: It absolutely should be. Again, it's mandatory mini camps, so
- 5:24Speaker 4: who wasn't here? That's a story. But man to say that,
- 5:28Speaker 4: you know.
- 5:28Speaker 2: It's a sign of dysfunction in Foxborough and that's the
- 5:31Speaker 2: story of many.
- 5:32Speaker 4: I mean, come on, you're not watching anything else if
- 5:35Speaker 4: if that's all you really think is worth reporting on.
- 5:37Speaker 3: I just very.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Disappointed as usual with how the local media is covering
- 5:43Speaker 2: this team.
- 5:43Speaker 3: When not fair.
- 5:44Speaker 7: Then when they do watch they say things like, you know,
- 5:46Speaker 7: some of these interceptions may have been intentional, So you
- 5:51Speaker 7: sort of said, stick to attendance.
- 5:53Speaker 3: True story, that true story.
- 5:55Speaker 6: I think one of the things though that that did
- 5:57Speaker 6: stand out for me, just as far as attendants, as
- 6:00Speaker 6: you know, just been the absence of Juju Smith Schuster
- 6:03Speaker 6: and and Tae Kwon Thornton, who I think are the
- 6:05Speaker 6: two elements you were really counting on to maybe add
- 6:08Speaker 6: a new twist to the offense this year. We all
- 6:10Speaker 6: know Bill O'Brien is here, and so far that seems
- 6:12Speaker 6: like he's really got things under control. But I think
- 6:14Speaker 6: when you look at the offense, you're really seeing a
- 6:16Speaker 6: lot of throws to the tight ends. You're you're basically
- 6:18Speaker 6: seeing the same wide receiver group from last year, minus
- 6:21Speaker 6: Jacobe Myers and Nelson Agalore. So without those two receivers
- 6:24Speaker 6: on the field, I just think it highlights a little
- 6:27Speaker 6: bit to me of you other reports that you know
- 6:29Speaker 6: that that Hopkins is going to come in over in
- 6:32Speaker 6: the next two days, apparently sometime Wednesday Thursday. So I
- 6:35Speaker 6: just think the need is there for depth. You haven't
- 6:37Speaker 6: really seen much. You're seeing guys like Ed Lee, you know,
- 6:39Speaker 6: get a lot of reps. Malie Cunningham was also a receiver.
- 6:42Speaker 6: We mentioned he was a quarterback. So I just think
- 6:45Speaker 6: for me that highlights depth issues. And I'd say the
- 6:47Speaker 6: same thing about Trump Brown off.
- 6:49Speaker 4: There's a hulking figure walking up the steps as we speak,
- 6:52Speaker 4: number seventy seven up Trent Brown.
- 6:54Speaker 7: I think Mike makes an excellent point about the receivers
- 6:56Speaker 7: because I think there was there have been periods that
- 7:00Speaker 7: we've seen that you just haven't seen enough guys out
- 7:05Speaker 7: there to really to gauge it. And then all of
- 7:08Speaker 7: a sudden you have a situation where Bailey's Appy's out
- 7:11Speaker 7: there and you're like, oh, he's with Parker and he's
- 7:14Speaker 7: with Bourn yesterday and you're like, oh, he's getting some
- 7:16Speaker 7: higher level reps. But then you're like, well, those are
- 7:19Speaker 7: really the only guys available. They don't have anybody else
- 7:21Speaker 7: out here. So I think it's clearly the depth at
- 7:25Speaker 7: that position is clearly an issue.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Yeah, that is an issue, and you know, it's disappointing
- 7:30Speaker 4: for us because you know, we want to see the
- 7:33Speaker 4: full squad out there, see what they look like together.
- 7:35Speaker 4: But you know, of course we'll get plenty of time
- 7:38Speaker 4: to do that at the end of August when training
- 7:41Speaker 4: camp starts, but we want to see what Taekwon looks
- 7:44Speaker 4: like out there, you know, in his second year, and
- 7:47Speaker 4: so we're just gonna have to wait.
- 7:49Speaker 7: It looks like, right, yeah, yeah, it'll take it'll take
- 7:52Speaker 7: some time, but we'll get our we'll get our looks
- 7:55Speaker 7: and go from there. But it will be interesting to
- 7:58Speaker 7: see what happens with Hopkins over the next couple of days.
- 8:00Speaker 7: I find it interesting that the players, you know, Mac
- 8:03Speaker 7: Jones included, you know, they were sort of generic about it,
- 8:07Speaker 7: but the fact that they were even acknowledging it, I
- 8:09Speaker 7: thought was so interesting. We mentioned that Belichick, you know,
- 8:12Speaker 7: it's sort of bristled at, you know, the timing of
- 8:14Speaker 7: when the meeting was going to take place, but not
- 8:16Speaker 7: necessarily that he wasn't talking about it at all. So yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 7: it's clearly something that's that's in the works. We'll see
- 8:22Speaker 7: how it unfolds and and and what what ends up happening.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Weather today, it's about sixty nine degrees today, overcast, misty,
- 8:32Speaker 4: but I think the rain's gonna hold off. We had
- 8:35Speaker 4: down pours overnight, but I think we're gonna be good
- 8:39Speaker 4: in terms of, uh.
- 8:40Speaker 3: This practice.
- 8:41Speaker 2: But I'm feeling, you know, a little missed coming through.
- 8:44Speaker 7: Yeah, a little bit, a little bit comfortable though, Yeah,
- 8:47Speaker 7: hopefully the rain will hold off.
- 8:50Speaker 6: Yeah, a little I'd say to you just to go
- 8:52Speaker 6: back to Trent real quick. You know, is he gonna
- 8:54Speaker 6: hop right in a left tackle? We've seen Calvin Anderson,
- 8:56Speaker 6: Andrew Stuber there, is he Is he right into the
- 8:58Speaker 6: mix or is you know, is there some element of
- 9:01Speaker 6: him getting worked in? And I'm also I just said
- 9:03Speaker 6: I gotta get him on the buyingnox because I'm curious,
- 9:05Speaker 6: you know, just kind of how he's looking physically right there,
- 9:07Speaker 6: that's the same.
- 9:08Speaker 5: Yeah, Yeah, he looks like huge.
- 9:10Speaker 3: It's like, what's a great, huge, huge, huge mountain of
- 9:12Speaker 3: a man.
- 9:13Speaker 7: You can.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Have no idea a hulking figure.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Hulking figure, Yeah no, But so he's back, and you know,
- 9:22Speaker 4: I'm sure if there's any discipline, we will never hear
- 9:24Speaker 4: about it.
- 9:25Speaker 3: But you know, you you know, if you're.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Taking a plane ride and you need to be at
- 9:30Speaker 4: mandatory practice, you do it a day in advance in
- 9:32Speaker 4: case there is something going on, you have time to
- 9:35Speaker 4: adjust and catch a later flight. And so there's no
- 9:38Speaker 4: excuses for that type of stuff. And and I'm sure
- 9:41Speaker 4: he'll hear about it. You know, he's the only one
- 9:45Speaker 4: that apparently had travel problems, so not good. But it'll
- 9:50Speaker 4: they'll deal with it as a team. And you know,
- 9:53Speaker 4: there's a million things that happen with every team every
- 9:55Speaker 4: year that we never hear about, you know, uh, internal
- 10:00Speaker 4: issues that have to be disciplined. You know, they have fun,
- 10:04Speaker 4: you know, contributions that all the players make when it
- 10:07Speaker 4: comes to that. So it's a story, but it's not like,
- 10:11Speaker 4: you know, a sign of dysfunction in Foxborough as it
- 10:14Speaker 4: was reported. It's just just bothered me.
- 10:17Speaker 6: I'd say, two Fred, we could highlight you know, yesterday
- 10:20Speaker 6: during the show, we noticed James Robinson wasn't here and Evan.
- 10:22Speaker 5: Evan said, you know, I think you might you might
- 10:24Speaker 5: have lost it.
- 10:25Speaker 6: The team did officially release James Robinson, so I know
- 10:29Speaker 6: there's a lot of speculation about injury issues and you know,
- 10:31Speaker 6: maybe still lingering things from the torn achilles that.
- 10:34Speaker 5: He had two years ago. But kind of an interesting move.
- 10:37Speaker 6: I don't know if it necessarily shines a positive light
- 10:39Speaker 6: on Pierre Strong and Kevin Harrison what they've done this spring,
- 10:42Speaker 6: but it certainly is, you know, one less body for
- 10:45Speaker 6: them to have to overcome to to get some playing
- 10:47Speaker 6: time and some carries.
- 10:48Speaker 4: So for the next five minutes or so, we have
- 10:49Speaker 4: to turn our cameras in wards. Those are team rules.
- 10:52Speaker 4: There's certain portions of practice we're not allowed to have
- 10:55Speaker 4: cameras on. So you'll be looking at us for a
- 10:58Speaker 4: few minutes until we can turn the cameras back around,
- 11:01Speaker 4: and then probably about eleven fifty eleven fifty five or so,
- 11:05Speaker 4: we'll have to turn the cameras off on the field
- 11:08Speaker 4: for the rest of the show. But we'll we'll stay
- 11:10Speaker 4: here throughout practice telling you everything that we see, kind
- 11:14Speaker 4: of give you as much description as we can. We're
- 11:17Speaker 4: not allowed to, like, you know, if there's trick plays
- 11:20Speaker 4: and things like that. We're not supposed to report on that,
- 11:23Speaker 4: but we can tell you who's out there, who's had
- 11:25Speaker 4: a good play, who's lining up against who on defense
- 11:28Speaker 4: and offense, that kind of thing, all fair game.
- 11:32Speaker 2: What Mac is doing, Paul. I know, Paul, you like
- 11:34Speaker 2: to keep stats during OTAs you know.
- 11:37Speaker 3: So only join the quote competitive portion, so right right?
- 11:41Speaker 7: Yeah, zero for zero, so I at zero for zero, Yes,
- 11:44Speaker 7: the competitive portion of practice.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Like yesterday, it's just shorts and helmets today in their practice, jerseys,
- 11:50Speaker 4: no shells, no pads.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:52Speaker 7: And I do want to talk about that Robinson thing
- 11:55Speaker 7: because I agree with with with Mike, and I know
- 11:57Speaker 7: Evan you Evan just joined us here after being at
- 12:00Speaker 7: Old Belichick's press conference, and Evan made the point yesterday
- 12:02Speaker 7: that he felt like maybe they didn't really see a
- 12:05Speaker 7: lot of explosiveness and you know that burst from Robinson,
- 12:08Speaker 7: maybe he was still looking for it. And I agreed,
- 12:10Speaker 7: and obviously the Patriots agreed. But but I do think Mike,
- 12:14Speaker 7: you you said, I'm not sure, you know if it
- 12:16Speaker 7: means something good.
- 12:17Speaker 5: I think it does.
- 12:18Speaker 7: I think it's a positive sign, you know, for the
- 12:21Speaker 7: two second year backs as well as Ty Montgomery being
- 12:24Speaker 7: out there. We've seen Montgomery's versatility. He's been working a
- 12:27Speaker 7: lot a receiver because of the depth issues that we
- 12:30Speaker 7: talked about yesterday earlier in the show, Mike, yep. But
- 12:34Speaker 7: I do think it's it shines a positive light on
- 12:36Speaker 7: Kevin Harris, and we talked about him a little bit yesterday.
- 12:39Speaker 7: He was noticeable at times again and Pierre Strong. I
- 12:42Speaker 7: think those two guys they have to have some comfort
- 12:45Speaker 7: level with them. It could be, you know that they're
- 12:47Speaker 7: gonna sign Dalvin Cook, Yeah right.
- 12:49Speaker 4: But it could be though, so that you know, after
- 12:52Speaker 4: that Achilles and being out that maybe he just doesn't
- 12:55Speaker 4: have the bursts that he once did. And they decided
- 12:57Speaker 4: to move on in part because Paul, as you said,
- 13:00Speaker 4: they're comfortable with what they have and it's not worth
- 13:03Speaker 4: using up the roster spot for a question mark, you know.
- 13:06Speaker 7: Right, And like like Kevin said, I just didn't see
- 13:09Speaker 7: like the explosiveness, But that doesn't mean that he couldn't
- 13:12Speaker 7: have been, you know, sort of.
- 13:13Speaker 5: A viable backup to fill in.
- 13:15Speaker 7: So I think that they felt strongly enough about what
- 13:18Speaker 7: they had that they didn't have to wait to see
- 13:20Speaker 7: if any of that burst.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Return, right, What do you think, Evan, Yeah, I didn't
- 13:23Speaker 3: necessarily see it with him in the practices that we
- 13:27Speaker 3: saw in terms of just that top gear, that explosiveness
- 13:30Speaker 3: being there. And this is why you drafted those guys
- 13:33Speaker 3: last year. It was for this exact reason. You knew
- 13:36Speaker 3: that Damien Harris was in a contract year. The Patriots deuce.
- 13:39Speaker 3: We've talked about this before, they kind of recycle backs
- 13:43Speaker 3: after four years. You know you're on your rookie deal.
- 13:45Speaker 3: They're not going to pay very many of these guys.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I don't even know if they're gonna pay Remandra In
- 13:48Speaker 3: a couple of years, we'll see. And at that point
- 13:51Speaker 3: you'd really turn it over to the next group, which
- 13:55Speaker 3: was that twenty twenty two draft class, and you just
- 13:57Speaker 3: look at all these running backs around the league. Not
- 13:59Speaker 3: to like lament about who they didn't pick or whatever,
- 14:02Speaker 3: but so many guys contribute that are Day three picks
- 14:06Speaker 3: at running back. I mean, obviously Pacheco is the big
- 14:08Speaker 3: one in Kansas City, but just in general, every year
- 14:11Speaker 3: there seems to be some guy. And James Robinson was
- 14:13Speaker 3: an undrafted guy, made the APR Rookie team and the
- 14:18Speaker 3: third round pick. That third round but we're talking late.
- 14:21Speaker 5: Evan was important before, say but check o yea.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, we're talking about guys that are drafted
- 14:28Speaker 3: late and discontribute just because blocking is really what you're
- 14:33Speaker 3: looking at. If you if you can block it up
- 14:35Speaker 3: and the running back you know, picks the right hole
- 14:37Speaker 3: to go through and hits it hard, then you're gonna
- 14:39Speaker 3: be fine. Yeah.
- 14:41Speaker 6: One other thing fred I wanted to bring up that
- 14:43Speaker 6: I just thought was, it's just an interesting thing. Yesterday
- 14:46Speaker 6: it was just when they really started to work on
- 14:48Speaker 6: the mobile quarterback stuff, and you know, Malie Cunningham was
- 14:51Speaker 6: a quarterback. It's something that we talked about where, you know,
- 14:53Speaker 6: this could be just a guy that they bring in
- 14:55Speaker 6: for the practice squad to give them looks. No kind
- 14:58Speaker 6: of speculation on our part, but I don't think that
- 15:00Speaker 6: there's any secret how much the Patriots struggled against mobile quarterbacks.
- 15:04Speaker 6: You know, offenses that specifically are designed to put the
- 15:06Speaker 6: ball in the quarterback's hands, to put defenses in bins,
- 15:09Speaker 6: and a lot of times last year they just they
- 15:11Speaker 6: couldn't get their head around how to stop Lamar Jackson
- 15:13Speaker 6: justin fields.
- 15:14Speaker 5: And it's been an ongoing problem.
- 15:16Speaker 6: So just to be in day one and mini camp
- 15:18Speaker 6: and to see them put Malie cunning Cam in that
- 15:20Speaker 6: role and they're just kind of in their base three
- 15:21Speaker 6: four front and they're working on those run fits. I
- 15:24Speaker 6: think that that's, you know, maybe just a sign that acknowledging, yes,
- 15:27Speaker 6: we have to we have to work on this. This
- 15:28Speaker 6: has been a problem for us. And we all know
- 15:30Speaker 6: week one you got Jalen Hurts coming here. So just
- 15:32Speaker 6: for me, I thought that was just one of the
- 15:33Speaker 6: more interesting things of Hey, this is something we know
- 15:35Speaker 6: they need to do, and right here we are, day
- 15:37Speaker 6: one mini camp, they're doing it.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Right now that we're doing eleven and eleven walk through.
- 15:41Speaker 7: Right and it's not Trent Brown at left tackle. It's
- 15:44Speaker 7: still Calvin Anderson. So to answer your question, Mike, Trent
- 15:48Speaker 7: Brown standing in the back without his helmet on, so
- 15:53Speaker 7: not just getting thrown right back in there as it
- 15:56Speaker 7: looks like the sun trying to peek out a little
- 15:57Speaker 7: bit here.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Yeah, But in terms of the situation.
- 16:01Speaker 7: That Mike just talked about with the running quarterbacks, I
- 16:03Speaker 7: just wanted to add Malie Cunningham was one of the
- 16:06Speaker 7: rookies who spoke yesterday after practice. A couple of interesting
- 16:09Speaker 7: things I thought. He divulged Number one, the Patriots were
- 16:13Speaker 7: the only team in the pre draft process that worked
- 16:15Speaker 7: him out as a wide receiver, so that that I
- 16:20Speaker 7: found interesting that no one else had had had done that.
- 16:24Speaker 7: And he also he said that he has never run
- 16:28Speaker 7: a route in his life, so he is literally working
- 16:31Speaker 7: from absolute scratch.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Now.
- 16:33Speaker 7: The reason he said he chose the Patriots with that
- 16:36Speaker 7: was because he felt like with the Julian Edelman story
- 16:39Speaker 7: in the culture here, they obviously understood that transition from
- 16:44Speaker 7: from quarterback college quarterback to NFL wide receiver. He said
- 16:49Speaker 7: something that I thought was kind of funny, said, you know,
- 16:51Speaker 7: I have I have more athleticism than those guys, so
- 16:54Speaker 7: I feel like I can do it. Yeah, it's like
- 16:58Speaker 7: doing Them's a pretty good athlete. But you know, I
- 17:01Speaker 7: did think that he he sounded like he's really working
- 17:06Speaker 7: hard at trying to make that transition.
- 17:08Speaker 5: He says he does all the meetings with.
- 17:09Speaker 7: The receivers, not with the quarterbacks, so any quarterback reps
- 17:13Speaker 7: he gets is generally at the end of practice.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Yeah. I talked to Mapu about it yesterday too, about
- 17:19Speaker 3: that part of practice and doing those drills, and I
- 17:22Speaker 3: thought what he said was interesting that in college he
- 17:25Speaker 3: said he felt like he had to do everything right,
- 17:27Speaker 3: he had to be everywhere and do everything, and here
- 17:30Speaker 3: he feels like it's, you know, old Patriots cliche, it's
- 17:33Speaker 3: just do your job, and he can really zone in
- 17:35Speaker 3: on just what his responsibility is on a given play
- 17:38Speaker 3: because he doesn't have to take over like he had
- 17:40Speaker 3: to in college. So I think some of the things
- 17:42Speaker 3: that we're seeing from him early on or because at
- 17:45Speaker 3: Sacramento State he was it like he was their best
- 17:48Speaker 3: player on defense and if he didn't make the tackle,
- 17:50Speaker 3: then sometimes the tackle didn't get made, so he had
- 17:54Speaker 3: to sort of take over the game a lot of
- 17:56Speaker 3: the time. And now he's really had a more simplified
- 17:59Speaker 3: or a more stream lined approach and he's been able
- 18:01Speaker 3: to take off. And I think that that bodes well
- 18:04Speaker 3: that he's kind of understanding his one eleventh in the defense,
- 18:07Speaker 3: if you will, and we'll see where it goes from there.
- 18:10Speaker 6: Are you guys ready to chat a little attendance, because
- 18:12Speaker 6: I think I'm I think I'm pretty square on on.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Everything right with one exist make it The story No
- 18:19Speaker 3: Kid Go Ahead started.
- 18:21Speaker 6: Just thirty four Quandary Mosley's when I haven't quite seen him,
- 18:24Speaker 6: not sure, but otherwise it's the same group I got.
- 18:26Speaker 6: Juju is not here, Taekwon Booty and when you Lawrence guy,
- 18:33Speaker 6: and that's it. I think in Quandary and Quandary, I'm
- 18:36Speaker 6: not sure though.
- 18:36Speaker 5: I just I haven't done a full search.
- 18:37Speaker 6: For good old Quandary mostly, but seems with the return
- 18:41Speaker 6: of Trent Brown, it seems like pretty much the same, uh,
- 18:44Speaker 6: the same cruis yesterday.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Any notable visitors today and yesterday we had quite a few.
- 18:49Speaker 5: There's an event going on down there. I'm not sure
- 18:51Speaker 5: who I know.
- 18:51Speaker 4: We've got about two hundred corporate sponsors in premium seed
- 18:58Speaker 4: people visiting PRA just today, so it's it's almost like
- 19:03Speaker 4: a training camp with the amount of people down below us.
- 19:06Speaker 6: Does seem like they got table set up and food, oh,
- 19:09Speaker 6: the whole thing. Yeah, well, hopefully they got something to
- 19:11Speaker 6: see here as we get through the initial warm ups.
- 19:14Speaker 6: But yeah, you know, so like everybody wants to point out, like, oh,
- 19:20Speaker 6: Christian Gonzalez, he's right in there with the.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Ones, I mean, not in this warm up for whatever
- 19:24Speaker 3: it's worth.
- 19:24Speaker 6: Like he's over on kind of the other field. So
- 19:27Speaker 6: I just you got to caution a little bit of
- 19:29Speaker 6: this U should usage.
- 19:32Speaker 5: And it's it's you know, oh, he's just gonna be
- 19:34Speaker 5: there love cornerbacks starting just mark it down.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Maybe, But I do also think that there's a little
- 19:40Speaker 3: bit of he's got to earn it. R oh yeah,
- 19:42Speaker 3: not gonna just hand it to him on his silver platters.
- 19:45Speaker 3: So with them, I always am wary of the fact
- 19:48Speaker 3: that they they might put him with the twos just
- 19:50Speaker 3: to be like, hey, you know, first round pick, you're
- 19:52Speaker 3: not You're not all that just yet, you know, go
- 19:55Speaker 3: go out there and and and show it to us first,
- 19:57Speaker 3: so we'll see. I I've still been with waiting for
- 20:00Speaker 3: that Christian Gonzalez moment. We've only seen four practice. I
- 20:03Speaker 3: know he's only been out out of a couple of them,
- 20:04Speaker 3: so I'm not trying to look too much into it.
- 20:07Speaker 3: But I'm still waiting for in a team drill, not
- 20:10Speaker 3: just catching one handed passes in you know, going through
- 20:15Speaker 3: the positional drills, but in an actual team drill, making
- 20:18Speaker 3: a play on a football. He did have one against
- 20:20Speaker 3: DeVante Parker had some tight coverage on him yesterday, so
- 20:23Speaker 3: I'm not saying he's ye bad. I just think that
- 20:25Speaker 3: he hasn't had that signature.
- 20:27Speaker 6: Yeah, that's why I wrote yesterday, Evan, I wrote a
- 20:29Speaker 6: little bit about the rookies that that spoke yesterday, and
- 20:31Speaker 6: I mean, I know you'll agree with me, but I mean,
- 20:33Speaker 6: I feel like Mapu has kind of been the one
- 20:36Speaker 6: that's just kind of given me some excitement just with
- 20:39Speaker 6: how many different spots he's been playing.
- 20:41Speaker 5: You know, he just he does seem very involved with
- 20:43Speaker 5: that top group in and out.
- 20:45Speaker 6: You know, there are rotating guys, but it's just it
- 20:48Speaker 6: definitely seems like there's something there with him. Nothing against
- 20:50Speaker 6: Keon White and Gonzales, but I think with those guys,
- 20:53Speaker 6: we're still kind of waiting for that, for that moment
- 20:55Speaker 6: with both of them where it was, and I think
- 20:57Speaker 6: we'll get it with key On White once one on
- 20:59Speaker 6: one start and then you know, and then he's gonna
- 21:01Speaker 6: he's gonna go against some poor backup offensive lineman and
- 21:03Speaker 6: probably just bowl him over. So you know, but the
- 21:05Speaker 6: same thing with Gonzales, where's that Wow, how did he
- 21:08Speaker 6: come down with that interception?
- 21:09Speaker 5: That kind of thing. That's that's what I think we're
- 21:11Speaker 5: all waiting to see with him.
- 21:12Speaker 2: See uh Mac Brown with Bill O'Brien right now, as
- 21:16Speaker 2: Mac does as stretching.
- 21:17Speaker 5: Mac Brown's here, Mac, I mean Mac Jones.
- 21:20Speaker 4: Oh, Mac Brown. Wow, So you see the teams are stretching.
- 21:27Speaker 4: The players are stretching right now, which sorely Mac Jones. H.
- 21:44Speaker 7: Yeah, the calistenic portion of the practice is always the
- 21:47Speaker 7: most riveting.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Freddy, Well, yeah, that's when the players get to be themselves.
- 21:53Speaker 1: You know.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Yeah, the large media contingent unleashed.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Fred We miss Cam Newton with his dances ringers part
- 22:00Speaker 2: of the.
- 22:02Speaker 3: They missed a few team drills they you know, missed
- 22:05Speaker 3: a few few stats there. We'll have to give it
- 22:08Speaker 3: to him afterwards. Yeah. Probably.
- 22:11Speaker 5: I'm not sure who that is we're trying to.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I never know who shows up with these things.
- 22:15Speaker 7: Someone came up the stairs and I saw Stacy stop
- 22:17Speaker 7: and go over and say hello and shake his hand,
- 22:19Speaker 7: and I figured he must be somebody, but I'm not
- 22:22Speaker 7: sure who it was.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Yeah, it looks like the Penn State guys are here again.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Yeah, James Franklin that I think that was confirmed by Yeah,
- 22:32Speaker 3: pr that that's who that was.
- 22:38Speaker 5: I don't get a shot at Josh Ucci right now.
- 22:40Speaker 5: He's a Nature's calling over on the sideline.
- 22:44Speaker 2: R I hear will be going over to Germany with
- 22:48Speaker 2: the nfl PA this summer.
- 22:50Speaker 6: Yea lay a little groundwork, maybe, uh see what the
- 22:53Speaker 6: fields like, see if he can get some sacks over there.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Bill Belichick with Joe Judge.
- 22:57Speaker 6: Right now, I was evan, I was almost gonna say,
- 23:02Speaker 6: and I don't think it is Greg Schiano. But standing
- 23:04Speaker 6: down there at the far end zone, there's two guys
- 23:07Speaker 6: in gray shirts and I don't know if the guy
- 23:09Speaker 6: on the right.
- 23:11Speaker 5: These aren't the greatest binoculars. But at almost for a
- 23:13Speaker 5: second thought looked like, I don't think it's him.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Well wait out now in the end zone. Yeah, much
- 23:19Speaker 2: too young, Yeah, much too young.
- 23:21Speaker 5: Yeah, it seemed like a shot.
- 23:25Speaker 6: Well you know, he's too young, much too it shape,
- 23:30Speaker 6: But yeah, it does seem like it's turning into.
- 23:31Speaker 7: A a little bit of sun's peaking any day. I
- 23:33Speaker 7: don't know my glasses sunny day. The beaches are full,
- 23:38Speaker 7: you know, Amity.
- 23:39Speaker 3: We didn't get an appearance from any of the crafts yesterday.
- 23:43Speaker 3: I did not see.
- 23:44Speaker 7: Now, Yeah, usually did not see. Robert usually comes out
- 23:48Speaker 7: at some point. Yeah, those mini camp practices. Maybe today
- 23:51Speaker 7: with all the guests there. Bill Belichick's press conference this
- 23:57Speaker 7: morning we get.
- 23:59Speaker 2: One of our listeners said that he he thought that
- 24:03Speaker 2: Bill was in a very good mood and he's wondering.
- 24:05Speaker 7: Why Evan kid a comment as being the only member
- 24:09Speaker 7: of the UH that was actually in attendance.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Last last couple of times we've spoken to him, he's
- 24:14Speaker 3: been a little chummy, chummy, nice, nice smile at the
- 24:18Speaker 3: podium given given the cameras and the videographers that that
- 24:23Speaker 3: smiling shot, you know right when he's the podium, and
- 24:27Speaker 3: it almost seems a little a little rehearsed, a little planned.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Did any uh what was the theme today? Any any questions? Uh? Yeah,
- 24:35Speaker 3: you know, I think the bigger things was, uh Jabriel Peppers.
- 24:39Speaker 3: A lot of a lot of praise from Bill uh
- 24:42Speaker 3: for Jail Peppers, just saying that he's, you know, becoming
- 24:46Speaker 3: more of a leader of that defense versus a guy
- 24:49Speaker 3: that's just trying to figure out where the heck he
- 24:51Speaker 3: should be on a given play, which I think is
- 24:53Speaker 3: a good sign.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Uh.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Some more positive reviews for for Time Montgomery. Uh, certainly
- 24:58Speaker 3: Bill Murray a little oversation about and you know, him
- 25:02Speaker 3: playing a little bit of more offensive line things like that.
- 25:05Speaker 3: I think in general, though, the feel was a was
- 25:11Speaker 3: he's pretty lax this time of year. You know. I
- 25:13Speaker 3: think during in season press conferences when we get him,
- 25:16Speaker 3: there's so much going on or so, you know, he's
- 25:18Speaker 3: got so much work to do still in the middle
- 25:20Speaker 3: of the week, and I think that's that's sort of
- 25:23Speaker 3: why you get some of the gloomy days with him.
- 25:26Speaker 3: But now, I mean, there's really no no pressure with
- 25:30Speaker 3: middle and things like that. I'd like to hear it.
- 25:33Speaker 6: Mike Rease tweeted out a quote when Andrew Callahan asked
- 25:36Speaker 6: him about Pepper's I've seen particular growth in Mike the
- 25:41Speaker 6: quote Mike has this oh yeah, oh my god.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Yeah, totally is a much different player.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I gotta hear that.
- 25:48Speaker 5: One from myself.
- 25:48Speaker 3: I was definitely gushing a little bit about Jabrill Peppers,
- 25:51Speaker 3: and I think that.
- 25:53Speaker 5: He's gush about him, to be honest, He's a guy that.
- 25:55Speaker 3: That's important that Devin's gone. I mean, he's definitely important
- 25:58Speaker 3: for the defense and we'll see what he brings. But
- 26:01Speaker 3: this time of year, I will say, if you ask
- 26:04Speaker 3: Bill about a singular play, not a rookie. If you
- 26:07Speaker 3: ask him about a rookie, it's a general everybody. He
- 26:10Speaker 3: groups it all together as everybody. But if you ask
- 26:13Speaker 3: him about a veteran player specifically, he's gonna gush like
- 26:17Speaker 3: I don't think I've ever heard him get up there
- 26:19Speaker 3: and be like, actually, I don't know, you're right, not
- 26:24Speaker 3: a not a great not a great start for player.
- 26:27Speaker 5: You know, I would actually fall off.
- 26:29Speaker 3: My chair if I heard something like that, right, So
- 26:31Speaker 3: I try not to, you know, not to take any
- 26:34Speaker 3: shots to anybody asking the questions, but it's just you're
- 26:37Speaker 3: gonna get the same kind of rehearse.
- 26:38Speaker 4: But you know, the whole thing about his mood, like
- 26:41Speaker 4: even yesterday's answer to the question is everybody there, you know,
- 26:45Speaker 4: it's like, I don't think so Like in the past,
- 26:48Speaker 4: he'd like, I don't take it.
- 26:50Speaker 3: So I almost fell off my chair. When he confirms
- 26:52Speaker 3: that they're in talks with DeAndre Hopkins, I think that that,
- 26:56Speaker 3: out of anything that he said over the last two days,
- 26:58Speaker 3: the fact that he got up there and confirmed that
- 27:01Speaker 3: that Hopkins and him have been in touch is floored me.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Like that that's one that oh, you know, he could
- 27:08Speaker 3: easily fall back on. We don't comment on reports, we
- 27:10Speaker 3: don't talk about we don't discuss rumors like that sort
- 27:13Speaker 3: of thing. But he came out right and said, yeah,
- 27:15Speaker 3: we've we've been talking to Hopkins. We're trying to work
- 27:18Speaker 3: out I read it as the logistics of the visit
- 27:21Speaker 3: and you know, when he's gonna fly in exactly and
- 27:23Speaker 3: and sort of planted around this planet around Hopkins's schedule,
- 27:27Speaker 3: you know, that sort of thing. And it was I
- 27:30Speaker 3: was surprised, Yeah, it was.
- 27:31Speaker 4: It was surprising. He usually never comments on that. And
- 27:34Speaker 4: uh now it's been reported to be a two day
- 27:37Speaker 4: visit tomorrow and Thursday, but we'll see about that. Yeah,
- 27:41Speaker 4: it's it's interesting. I mean, I don't know, you know,
- 27:45Speaker 4: if it's a change of heart or you know, whatever.
- 27:49Speaker 4: But you know, he does seem to be a little
- 27:52Speaker 4: bit more open last couple of days.
- 27:54Speaker 5: Do you think he really didn't know?
- 27:55Speaker 6: I mean, do you think that he's just above the
- 27:57Speaker 6: fray and that's like a scheduling thing, and you know,
- 27:59Speaker 6: I mean, I don't know.
- 28:00Speaker 2: I just I do wonder.
- 28:01Speaker 5: I think a lot of us just assume that he
- 28:03Speaker 5: knows everything.
- 28:04Speaker 7: I mean, he's the I don't want I don't think
- 28:06Speaker 7: at the time yesterday, I actually take it at face value. Yeah,
- 28:09Speaker 7: I'm not sure that they knew yesterday exactly when he
- 28:12Speaker 7: was going.
- 28:12Speaker 3: To be right.
- 28:13Speaker 2: They didn't know he was gonna leave Tennessee. Maybe he
- 28:15Speaker 2: didn't leave, you know, and he does not make those arrangements,
- 28:19Speaker 2: that's for sure. Uh so's they're better than good Nancy.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I got it. Got a nice, nice chuckle out
- 28:26Speaker 3: of him when when somebody said, oh, well, whytn't you
- 28:29Speaker 3: give us give us Nancy, you know, get getting miss
- 28:31Speaker 3: Nancy available and we can talk to her about the
- 28:34Speaker 3: the travel agent stuff. And he gave it to chuckle.
- 28:37Speaker 3: He did, Yeah, he did. I thought Scott holy had
- 28:40Speaker 3: some nice things. He said.
- 28:41Speaker 5: Nancy Meyer was like family to him on the Patsman
- 28:44Speaker 5: the path.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Nice. Yeah, nice. I mean she's an exceptional woman, some
- 28:47Speaker 3: of them.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Some of Bill's willingness to mention that he is talking
- 28:51Speaker 4: to Hopkins might be the player himself, you know, like
- 28:54Speaker 4: certain players need to be treated certain ways, and right
- 28:57Speaker 4: now Hopkins is you know, uh, he wants to be
- 29:01Speaker 4: courted right now. And if Bill like just you know, categorically,
- 29:05Speaker 4: or didn't deny it, but just wouldn't answer it, maybe
- 29:08Speaker 4: he's afraid Hopkins would look at that as sort of
- 29:10Speaker 4: a slight you know. So maybe Bill takes that into
- 29:14Speaker 4: consideration who the player is.
- 29:17Speaker 2: And you know, what's the harm in me saying that, yeah,
- 29:19Speaker 2: we are talking to show that we're interested.
- 29:22Speaker 6: Especially when you're hoping that Bill Belichick is a bit
- 29:24Speaker 6: of a draw for Hopkins for him to kind of
- 29:27Speaker 6: like play Mickey the Dunce and I don't.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Know, but just to at least confirm you we're interested
- 29:33Speaker 2: in it. Of course we are. He's a good player and.
- 29:35Speaker 6: He's not on another team. I think a lot of
- 29:37Speaker 6: times Bill, you know, goes behind that stuff of you
- 29:40Speaker 6: know what, Like.
- 29:41Speaker 7: He generally says, we're not going to talk about someone
- 29:43Speaker 7: not on my roster. It's not even on someone else's roster.
- 29:46Speaker 7: He would never talk about a guy who's actually under
- 29:49Speaker 7: contract for somebody else.
- 29:51Speaker 4: Right, right, We're not going to talk about players not
- 29:54Speaker 4: on the team, you know. So we'll see, we'll see
- 29:57Speaker 4: what happens with that. I don't know, is your guys
- 30:01Speaker 4: percentage of him coming here changed in the last week.
- 30:04Speaker 5: No, I still feel I still feel pretty good about it.
- 30:07Speaker 3: Like it could could happen.
- 30:08Speaker 6: I mean, and like I said at the top of
- 30:10Speaker 6: the show, just you know, without Thornton and without Juju,
- 30:15Speaker 6: I mean, as much as I want to tell you,
- 30:16Speaker 6: because Sicky and Bill O'Brien are going to make a
- 30:18Speaker 6: difference from last year.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Like you need more than that.
- 30:21Speaker 5: You need more than just to run it back with.
- 30:23Speaker 6: You know, with Parker and Kendrick Bourne and you know, hey,
- 30:26Speaker 6: we're gonna I mean, I assume you're gonna get Juju
- 30:28Speaker 6: back at some point, but I just don't like having
- 30:30Speaker 6: him not out here, like and anytime a guy's not
- 30:32Speaker 6: out here and he's not healthy enough to be.
- 30:34Speaker 5: Picking this up and to get involved in the beginning it, Okay,
- 30:37Speaker 5: raises a red flax.
- 30:38Speaker 3: What we're seeing to the right, the sprints a little bit, yeah,
- 30:43Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 30:43Speaker 7: They have, you know, a handful of cones that they're
- 30:46Speaker 7: going in and out, and then they have these the
- 30:48Speaker 7: small little hurdles that they're going with the high knees
- 30:50Speaker 7: like Evan just said. And it's all the receivers, defensive backs,
- 30:54Speaker 7: you know, like skilled guys.
- 30:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I've never seen this type of running on the
- 30:58Speaker 4: field now. I mean, you know, we see it on
- 30:59Speaker 4: the hills after the practice, but I don't remember seeing
- 31:04Speaker 4: things like this, uh, during practice.
- 31:07Speaker 2: We don't have our cameras on it.
- 31:09Speaker 6: But that's okay, yeah, well we got the offensive line
- 31:12Speaker 6: down on the other end, here we go throwing bags.
- 31:14Speaker 2: You see Mac right now? Yeah, get those knees up.
- 31:20Speaker 6: And then it looks like the defensive linemen are working
- 31:23Speaker 6: with some medicine balls there, uh getting down. It looks
- 31:27Speaker 6: like like exploding kind of similar stuff for the uh yeah,
- 31:32Speaker 6: for the for the offensive line, which this looks like.
- 31:33Speaker 7: I thought this was a little I saw them doing
- 31:35Speaker 7: this yesterday. I thought it was a little different too,
- 31:37Speaker 7: the way they were starting that drill.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Yeah, maybe they get this from Alabama Phillibrian bringing some new.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Free practice warm ups. Looks heavy those balls, Yeah, heavy balls.
- 31:55Speaker 3: Yeah, good for it.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:03Speaker 3: So what do we think? What do we think today?
- 32:05Speaker 7: We think for the tempo, what are we predicting a
- 32:07Speaker 7: little bit, a little bit higher temple than yesterday?
- 32:09Speaker 2: I would think so. Yeah, I agree, Yeah, yeah, I
- 32:11Speaker 2: think that today.
- 32:13Speaker 5: Is it going to be high enough to cancel tomorrow work.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Today and then give them tomorrow mines. I think that
- 32:20Speaker 3: you guys are onto something. Yeah. I think they come
- 32:23Speaker 3: out here full as full tilt as you can be
- 32:26Speaker 3: for this time of year, run a bunch of plays
- 32:29Speaker 3: and then see where they're at. At the end of
- 32:31Speaker 3: the day and maybe call.
- 32:33Speaker 4: It well at that point. And again the rules for
- 32:35Speaker 4: mini campus you get twenty four hours. You can split
- 32:38Speaker 4: it up any way you want. So, I know the
- 32:40Speaker 4: players were in at six o'clock yesterday and I think
- 32:42Speaker 4: they left it around six, so that's twelve So they
- 32:45Speaker 4: only have twelve hours left. So depending on what they
- 32:47Speaker 4: do today, that's all they have left for Wednesday.
- 32:51Speaker 7: Yeah, and I don't know what time they had to
- 32:53Speaker 7: be here, like everybody had to be here, so you know,
- 32:56Speaker 7: it could be one of those semantic Maybe it was ten,
- 33:01Speaker 7: you know, and they'll get ten today and then maybe
- 33:03Speaker 7: do something team oriented tomorrow, something like that. Yeah, you know,
- 33:07Speaker 7: some kind of team bonding, you know, go to a movie,
- 33:12Speaker 7: go to the zoo. This is a spider Man.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Now we're gonna run around, ring around the road.
- 33:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I believe one attend him to our attendance. I
- 33:19Speaker 6: think we fell victim to the Greg Bedard fifty one trap.
- 33:22Speaker 6: I have only seen Ronnie Perkins.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Oh, because I haven't.
- 33:25Speaker 7: I I circled Keon White when you said that he
- 33:28Speaker 7: was here. Now, I was taking you just eric to me.
- 33:31Speaker 7: We got diddarded myself.
- 33:34Speaker 3: So are we sure to Kean, I'm sure that that's Ronnie.
- 33:38Speaker 7: I saw Ronnie. I definitely saw Ronnie Perkins. I did
- 33:41Speaker 7: not see Keon White.
- 33:42Speaker 3: I hadn't. I hadn't circled him until Mike told me, Yeah,
- 33:44Speaker 3: that's that's definitely.
- 33:46Speaker 2: So now they're they're the defensive backs are running a
- 33:51Speaker 2: semicircle around cones. Again, this is new and the arc.
- 33:54Speaker 2: It'll be interesting to see if this is also used
- 33:57Speaker 2: in training kid.
- 33:59Speaker 6: Yeah, and it's interesting when they when he's kind of little, uh,
- 34:03Speaker 6: you know, while it's running in a semi circle make
- 34:05Speaker 6: you faster.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Well that's a good point, but you like, it's like
- 34:10Speaker 3: you're on the bend of the track the bank, you know,
- 34:12Speaker 3: and you have got to get the inside way. The
- 34:15Speaker 3: way you be the way you are fast, is to
- 34:18Speaker 3: be fast.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Like I always tell you just you want to be fast,
- 34:23Speaker 3: and they always complain that we don't get guess we
- 34:24Speaker 3: have matc Growe on today. You want to be fast.
- 34:27Speaker 5: You've got to be fast.
- 34:28Speaker 2: You know.
- 34:28Speaker 3: Somebody when I was trying to be fast, was like,
- 34:30Speaker 3: think fast. I'm like that that doesn't work. It doesn't work.
- 34:32Speaker 5: I was really thinking fast, but fast not moving.
- 34:36Speaker 3: I'm just slow.
- 34:37Speaker 2: That's like a John Wooden, right, yeah, think fast, but
- 34:39Speaker 2: don't rush.
- 34:40Speaker 5: Not going uh but yeah, so that is a little
- 34:43Speaker 5: bit of a disappointment there.
- 34:45Speaker 3: If Keon White is in fact not here, it's not
- 34:47Speaker 3: called that yet a little bit.
- 34:48Speaker 6: Maybe we'll see because he did talk yesterday, so you
- 34:52Speaker 6: wonder and he yeah, he was fine, thought he was yeah, yeah,
- 34:56Speaker 6: I thought he was pretty impressive, to be honest with you.
- 34:59Speaker 4: Now we get off that's going around the cones, and
- 35:01Speaker 4: I guess the idea here is to try to keep
- 35:03Speaker 4: it as tight to the cone as possible. But it's again,
- 35:08Speaker 4: I'm you always see new things, and this is the
- 35:11Speaker 4: new thing added to the practice.
- 35:12Speaker 2: We didn't even see this yesterday, right.
- 35:14Speaker 7: I don't remember seeing the semi circle yesterday. I noticed
- 35:16Speaker 7: it when it came out that the cones were all
- 35:19Speaker 7: in formation over there, and I don't remember them seeing
- 35:21Speaker 7: them do this yesterday.
- 35:23Speaker 5: It'll be noted in blocks.
- 35:25Speaker 3: But you know, you joke Kardona forty nine.
- 35:27Speaker 5: I see I did get Cardona.
- 35:29Speaker 2: You could you can tell what creatures of habit we are.
- 35:31Speaker 2: You know, you see a little running thing and we're
- 35:32Speaker 2: all like, oh my god, we've never seen this before
- 35:35Speaker 2: look at the players run right.
- 35:37Speaker 6: But I do think it is interesting that this is,
- 35:39Speaker 6: you know, probably something that falls under Moses Cabrera and
- 35:42Speaker 6: you know each off season, I mean stretching, warming up, that's,
- 35:46Speaker 6: you know, kind of straightforward.
- 35:47Speaker 7: I even thought yesterday and I think we were off
- 35:49Speaker 7: air by the time. The way they cooled down after
- 35:52Speaker 7: practice was a little different. The team created a huge
- 35:55Speaker 7: circle and there were a handful of players inside.
- 36:00Speaker 3: I think Judeon.
- 36:02Speaker 7: There was I think five or six players inside when
- 36:05Speaker 7: they sort of cooled down with some stretching.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was.
- 36:12Speaker 5: Yeah, Now I can't find my numbers, where are they?
- 36:15Speaker 7: I think it was Riley Reef, Carl Davis, Calvin Munson,
- 36:18Speaker 7: Matthew Judon, Josh Uce and Christian Barmore with a six
- 36:22Speaker 7: that were inside the circle. I don't know if there's
- 36:24Speaker 7: any significance to the fact that those were the guys
- 36:26Speaker 7: in there, or if it just worked out that way,
- 36:28Speaker 7: But I hadn't seen them sort of cool down like
- 36:32Speaker 7: that in the past. I don't know if you guys
- 36:34Speaker 7: saw that or I thought it looked any different than
- 36:36Speaker 7: any other time. But a lot of times we've seen
- 36:38Speaker 7: them by position group sometimes they'll just they'll meet as
- 36:42Speaker 7: positions and sort of stretch before they leave the field.
- 36:45Speaker 7: I thought that was a little different as a full team.
- 36:49Speaker 3: It's good. It's good this time of year.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Yeah, some bonding, make friends, all right. So the running
- 36:56Speaker 2: portion of practice seems to be over, at least for the.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Semi circle Cones.
- 37:01Speaker 6: But I also don't remember like a little interstitial pier.
- 37:04Speaker 6: Usually you stretch, they blow the whistle, and we're off
- 37:07Speaker 6: to practice. It's not like, all right, now we're going
- 37:08Speaker 6: to do some you know, running is there.
- 37:10Speaker 2: And there's still sprinting, defense, sprinting.
- 37:12Speaker 7: This is the warm up portion of practice. They've done
- 37:15Speaker 7: stuff like this. They usually go through the positional drills.
- 37:18Speaker 7: Which is this conditioning really more than anything else.
- 37:22Speaker 6: I do wonder if if it's one of those things
- 37:24Speaker 6: like we I think we mentioned last week of trying
- 37:27Speaker 6: to get a little bit more conditioning at the front
- 37:29Speaker 6: of practice.
- 37:31Speaker 5: I know that that's a trend in some places as well.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like Fred said, I think they're always trying
- 37:36Speaker 3: to find different ways to keep it fresh.
- 37:39Speaker 6: Yeah, should the players enjoy They rather running a half
- 37:43Speaker 6: circle around Cones than.
- 37:44Speaker 5: Over on that hill.
- 37:45Speaker 4: But get the guys moving but you know you're not
- 37:49Speaker 4: going to get in shape in three days, so right,
- 37:52Speaker 4: the message will be, Okay, you got to keep doing
- 37:55Speaker 4: this when you go home, you know, because when that
- 37:58Speaker 4: come for training, can that condition run is waiting for it,
- 38:00Speaker 4: and you're gonna take that conditioning run, you better be ready.
- 38:09Speaker 2: So yeah, they're still they're still running. They're running. See
- 38:19Speaker 2: the quarterback's warming up right now.
- 38:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I would say too.
- 38:23Speaker 6: It doesn't seem like Trump Brown is heavily involved in
- 38:25Speaker 6: this practice, and from what I've seen, he is pretty
- 38:28Speaker 6: low key.
- 38:29Speaker 5: I'm not sure I've even seen him.
- 38:30Speaker 6: Take part in it in one of these kind of
- 38:32Speaker 6: warm up jewels yet. But for the most part, he's
- 38:35Speaker 6: got helmet up on his head and he's kind of watching.
- 38:37Speaker 6: So take that for what it's worth. Okay, but yeah,
- 38:44Speaker 6: definitely not seeing key on white here as things get
- 38:47Speaker 6: a little bit more broken up.
- 38:48Speaker 3: So Trump Brown is just an interesting cat. I never
- 38:53Speaker 3: I can never get a read on him, so I
- 38:54Speaker 3: almost just don't read him because he's just Yeah, he's
- 38:57Speaker 3: just an interesting cat.
- 38:59Speaker 5: He's a big inter stink cat, like a main coon can.
- 39:05Speaker 3: Jungle cat. Yeah, interesting big cat.
- 39:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that's the whole thing with him is
- 39:13Speaker 4: his desire. You know, how much does he want? How
- 39:17Speaker 4: much does he really love football? And I think it
- 39:22Speaker 4: goes in and out. I just I think the best
- 39:26Speaker 4: he was was when Scarnekia was here. You know, he
- 39:29Speaker 4: got the most out of him. And Dante's the kind
- 39:32Speaker 4: of guy you want to play for him. You don't
- 39:35Speaker 4: want to disappoint him. And uh, you know, we'll see
- 39:39Speaker 4: if Adrian Clem can have that type of gravitas with
- 39:43Speaker 4: with the alignment, but it's doubtful.
- 39:45Speaker 6: I think if I had to make a bet right
- 39:46Speaker 6: now whether or not Trump Brown will be on the
- 39:48Speaker 6: field week one, I would probably.
- 39:50Speaker 5: Say no, really really, I mean that's just the vibe,
- 39:57Speaker 5: don't you feel like though?
- 39:58Speaker 3: I just.
- 40:00Speaker 6: So like a lot of guys, especially in that position group,
- 40:02Speaker 6: were not on board with things, and he was certainly,
- 40:04Speaker 6: you know, among one of them who was up and
- 40:06Speaker 6: down all year and inconsistent. And you know, I just
- 40:09Speaker 6: wonder at what point, I mean, Paul has been beating
- 40:11Speaker 6: this drum ever since Truck Brown came back full times.
- 40:13Speaker 5: So but I don't know, I just started to read
- 40:16Speaker 5: the tee.
- 40:16Speaker 7: We's how under guy an unreliable player? Yeah, And I
- 40:19Speaker 7: know that, like, I think the position is very unsettled.
- 40:22Speaker 6: I I.
- 40:24Speaker 2: I know, So is that Trent Brown walking down the
- 40:27Speaker 2: hill right now.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Doing this stuffs?
- 40:32Speaker 2: Somebody is walking down the hill, Yes, it.
- 40:35Speaker 3: Is, so he is.
- 40:37Speaker 5: He's dealing with something.
- 40:38Speaker 3: Yeah, that's well, he's probably not in shape to play. Yeah.
- 40:44Speaker 5: Yeah, he hasn't done anything all spring.
- 40:46Speaker 2: So it's interesting.
- 40:47Speaker 4: The reason why I looked that direction was because I
- 40:50Speaker 4: saw Belichick talking with Matt grow and both of them
- 40:53Speaker 4: all of a sudden turned toward that direction. So I
- 40:56Speaker 4: wanted to see what they were looking at, and they
- 40:57Speaker 4: were looking at Trent Brown, and that's what like.
- 41:01Speaker 6: And look, I don't I'm not going to tell you
- 41:03Speaker 6: that that Calvin Anderson or Riley Reef, or or you know,
- 41:05Speaker 6: even Connor McDermott who came in last year, are you
- 41:08Speaker 6: know the long.
- 41:08Speaker 5: Term answers and what you need.
- 41:10Speaker 6: But I think at a certain point this year you
- 41:13Speaker 6: might just be looking for guys that want to feel,
- 41:16Speaker 6: that really want to be here, that are put in
- 41:18Speaker 6: the effort, that are consistently here. And maybe it's not
- 41:20Speaker 6: all perfect, but you know every snap what you're going
- 41:23Speaker 6: to get from Riley Reef, who you know has been.
- 41:25Speaker 7: To me, Calvin Anderson is the interesting guy because that's
- 41:27Speaker 7: I mean, fifty year. He hasn't played a ton, but
- 41:30Speaker 7: he does have some experience. Might he be a guy
- 41:33Speaker 7: that really benefits from being, you know, thrust into a
- 41:38Speaker 7: bigger role than he's had in the past. And if
- 41:40Speaker 7: he can take one of the spots and then you
- 41:42Speaker 7: can patch it together with the veterans on the other side,
- 41:44Speaker 7: with Reef and McDermott, and that that could make Trent
- 41:47Speaker 7: Brown expendable.
- 41:49Speaker 3: I don't think that.
- 41:50Speaker 7: I think it's a bold take that you have, but
- 41:51Speaker 7: I don't think it's outrageous by any means.
- 41:53Speaker 3: Now.
- 41:53Speaker 5: I think it's close to fifty to fifty right now.
- 41:55Speaker 6: And I just think that in and of itself is
- 41:57Speaker 6: kind of the story of I just at what point
- 42:00Speaker 6: do you say, you know, what.
- 42:02Speaker 5: Huge guy.
- 42:03Speaker 6: When he's on, he is dominating, But we just don't
- 42:07Speaker 6: know when we're going to get it. And what we
- 42:08Speaker 6: need right now is some reliability.
- 42:10Speaker 4: We need reliability and we also need chemistry. We need
- 42:12Speaker 4: a team that wants to play with each other, trusts
- 42:16Speaker 4: each other. You know, you can't have one of your
- 42:18Speaker 4: main stays in the line like, oh, maybe I'll play
- 42:21Speaker 4: this week, maybe I want it's just not a good look.
- 42:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. I mean you go back to a couple
- 42:25Speaker 3: of years ago and they started Ted Carris over Mike
- 42:28Speaker 3: on winning and I think that everybody was like, Michael,
- 42:31Speaker 3: who is one of our best young players, what are
- 42:32Speaker 3: we doing? And I think the big reason why it
- 42:34Speaker 3: was just that cohesion of the five man unit, which
- 42:38Speaker 3: one had the most reps together, which one had the
- 42:40Speaker 3: best chemistry, who was on the string together? And they
- 42:44Speaker 3: settled on the fact that that Ted Carris was just
- 42:47Speaker 3: a little bit more glued into what they were doing
- 42:50Speaker 3: at that time. And I just the tackle thing has
- 42:53Speaker 3: always been a worry for me. And if Trent Brown
- 42:56Speaker 3: is now on the fence or not as locked in
- 42:59Speaker 3: as you need him to be, then it becomes an
- 43:01Speaker 3: even bigger concern. I think Bill O'Brien is the type
- 43:04Speaker 3: of coordinator that has the chops to coach around poor tackles.
- 43:08Speaker 3: But it's just not really something that you want to
- 43:10Speaker 3: have to do right.
- 43:11Speaker 6: Well, especially when you've got to get into third and long,
- 43:13Speaker 6: or you know, if they still want to really try
- 43:15Speaker 6: to push the ball down the field, you've got to
- 43:17Speaker 6: have some trust and you know what point do you
- 43:18Speaker 6: look at Calvin Anderson and say, hey, here's a guy
- 43:21Speaker 6: that we initially had in here, that we showed interest
- 43:24Speaker 6: in out of the draft went you know, played last
- 43:26Speaker 6: year in Denver.
- 43:27Speaker 5: He's been here all off season for us.
- 43:29Speaker 6: He's been our you know, basically our every day left
- 43:31Speaker 6: tackle right through ots in mini camp.
- 43:33Speaker 7: And at what point he's single him out? He's he's
- 43:37Speaker 7: the one sort of unknown out of those three.
- 43:41Speaker 3: And I don't I don't.
- 43:42Speaker 7: Rule out the possibility that, you know, he's ready to
- 43:45Speaker 7: take that step and be a full time starter. I mean,
- 43:47Speaker 7: I it's hard. I mean, you know people are going
- 43:50Speaker 7: to say, well, how does he look?
- 43:51Speaker 5: I have no idea.
- 43:52Speaker 7: You know, the offensive lineman, right, you know, you can't
- 43:55Speaker 7: tell what they're doing in a lot of times, you
- 43:57Speaker 7: can't tell what they're doing when in pads and training camp. Yep,
- 44:01Speaker 7: but you certainly have no gauge whatsoever on a mini
- 44:05Speaker 7: camp with no pads, and you know, see likely what
- 44:08Speaker 7: the lineups look like when when the pads come on
- 44:10Speaker 7: in another month or so.
- 44:12Speaker 4: I go back to Dante and you know, the best
- 44:15Speaker 4: offensive line coach this franchise has ever had, now, Hall
- 44:18Speaker 4: of famer, you know, he said, Continuity is huge for
- 44:21Speaker 4: offensive line. You need you that's what you really ideally want.
- 44:25Speaker 4: It's the same five guys out there all the time.
- 44:27Speaker 3: That's yeah.
- 44:28Speaker 6: I mean that's why usually I kind of give a
- 44:30Speaker 6: little bit of a pass to some inconsistencies on the
- 44:33Speaker 6: offensive line the first month of the season. I just
- 44:35Speaker 6: I think there's always, you know, a game where things
- 44:38Speaker 6: just don't look in sync. But what you always loved
- 44:41Speaker 6: and respected about Dante's guys, you knew they were going
- 44:44Speaker 6: to get it at some point. And I don't know
- 44:46Speaker 6: if we have that confidence yet, but I'm certainly excited
- 44:49Speaker 6: to have Adrian clem an experienced offensive line and played
- 44:53Speaker 6: in the NFL as an offensive lineman.
- 44:54Speaker 5: I mean, you know, just taking total control of things
- 44:57Speaker 5: down there.
- 44:57Speaker 6: And I mean, as I kind of snarkily say yesterday,
- 45:00Speaker 6: it's nice not to see, you know, coach having to
- 45:02Speaker 6: like run back and forth between coach and the offensive line.
- 45:05Speaker 6: You see them down there doing what they usually do,
- 45:07Speaker 6: working on on everything.
- 45:08Speaker 3: That they do.
- 45:09Speaker 5: So it's uh, we'll see.
- 45:11Speaker 6: I mean, I just again, though I feel like talk
- 45:13Speaker 6: about the wide receiver depth issues, you talk about the
- 45:15Speaker 6: offensive line, just a lot being put on the new
- 45:18Speaker 6: coaches who have come in to really get things in
- 45:21Speaker 6: order and make them work.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Chris weher A t I a n wants to know
- 45:24Speaker 2: why Deuce is dressed like Maddy p.
- 45:28Speaker 3: I got that Jude on red sleeves.
- 45:29Speaker 2: I thought, you know, I got jacket and I got
- 45:31Speaker 2: the hot jacket.
- 45:32Speaker 5: You know, trying to dress the part here.
- 45:33Speaker 3: I don't know. Paul's trying to capture the spirit of
- 45:35Speaker 3: the thing, right. That's all adding on Calvin Anderson too,
- 45:39Speaker 3: by far their most athletic tackle that they have on
- 45:41Speaker 3: the roster. It's one of the things that put him
- 45:44Speaker 3: on the NFL radar is his pro day at Texas
- 45:46Speaker 3: when he came out. So he's by far their best
- 45:50Speaker 3: athlete and you can see that on film. So that
- 45:53Speaker 3: that does project nicely to a left tackle spot if
- 45:56Speaker 3: he can play it consistently. But I think that that's
- 45:59Speaker 3: one thing that really does stand out with him is
- 46:01Speaker 3: his initial explosiveness out of his stances range, his ability
- 46:05Speaker 3: to block on the move. Like, I think he's got
- 46:08Speaker 3: some of that athleticism. But if that tackle spot ends
- 46:11Speaker 3: up being a big issue for them, and we're gonna
- 46:14Speaker 3: go back to the draft, I mean, we and I'm
- 46:16Speaker 3: not necessarily saying the first round, just any of the rounds.
- 46:19Speaker 3: You know, we're gonna go back to the draft and say,
- 46:22Speaker 3: I mean, could one of these tackles have have stepped
- 46:26Speaker 3: in and played right away that maybe they could have
- 46:28Speaker 3: had in the second or third round even or whoever.
- 46:32Speaker 4: I mean, well, Anthony writes, and if you were a bill,
- 46:34Speaker 4: would you let Brown go and save the cap space,
- 46:37Speaker 4: maybe sign Flucker who was in for a workout yesterday
- 46:39Speaker 4: for a year and use the savings on the cap
- 46:41Speaker 4: cash to try to lure Hopkins to sign this week.
- 46:44Speaker 4: Brown isn't reliable, and if he isn't happy, what incentive
- 46:47Speaker 4: does he have to stay.
- 46:48Speaker 2: In shape enough to play and stay healthy.
- 46:50Speaker 3: I mean, I think we're a little too far. I know.
- 46:52Speaker 6: I look, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna jump on
- 46:53Speaker 6: and stay cut up. I really don't care about like
- 46:55Speaker 6: opening cap space with him or anything like. That's fine,
- 46:57Speaker 6: that's not if it works out. But I mean really,
- 47:00Speaker 6: for me, it's it's just is he engaged? Is he
- 47:03Speaker 6: like like if I was the coach, I know at
- 47:05Speaker 6: some points he's gonna look good. I mean, he looks
- 47:06Speaker 6: great walking onto the field, like you can't help.
- 47:09Speaker 2: But be you know, intrigued by his size, and well,
- 47:12Speaker 2: it's like, how much time are we going to an
- 47:13Speaker 2: effort we're going to put into getting this guy out.
- 47:16Speaker 5: Right, he's going to leave the station?
- 47:17Speaker 3: Is he on board or is he kind of outured?
- 47:21Speaker 7: I would be concerned with. I mean, d J Fluker,
- 47:25Speaker 7: I think is an interesting story just because of what's
- 47:27Speaker 7: going on. But I mean it hard to make the
- 47:28Speaker 7: case for him being a reliable option at this point
- 47:32Speaker 7: and he's been out of the league.
- 47:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just such a there's such a talent glut
- 47:38Speaker 3: right now, I guess is the word for that position
- 47:41Speaker 3: in the whole league, and these guys that can play,
- 47:44Speaker 3: that can start for seventeen games. Teams don't just give
- 47:47Speaker 3: those types of guys away because they're not enough of them.
- 47:50Speaker 2: So well, the proper word would be drought, right, glut
- 47:53Speaker 2: is they have a lot too many?
- 47:54Speaker 3: Right? Thank you? Okay, thank you journalism.
- 48:00Speaker 7: Words are hard, but one of the things and I
- 48:03Speaker 7: sort of take away, you know, Mike, you were talking
- 48:05Speaker 7: about like sometimes the offensive line play is a little
- 48:09Speaker 7: spotty at the beginning of the season, and it's why
- 48:12Speaker 7: you because they don't have the cohesion, and I agree,
- 48:15Speaker 7: and then I'll take take it to something that Evan
- 48:17Speaker 7: talked about yesterday, well, like.
- 48:19Speaker 3: It's also something that can be schemed around a little bit.
- 48:22Speaker 7: And I think when you realize how many times you say, like, whoa,
- 48:25Speaker 7: you know, so and so is going to get killed
- 48:27Speaker 7: back there, you know, and then the teams figure it out,
- 48:30Speaker 7: Like I think Joe Burrow got sacked like six times
- 48:33Speaker 7: on opening Day against Pittsburgh last year, and everybody's like,
- 48:36Speaker 7: all that money they put into the offensive line, it
- 48:38Speaker 7: didn't work.
- 48:38Speaker 3: Well, they figure it out, you know, they figured out, they.
- 48:40Speaker 7: Improve, they scheme around it, and and for the most
- 48:44Speaker 7: part it's good enough. Yeah, I mean I understand, like
- 48:48Speaker 7: there are times where it's just so bad you can't win.
- 48:51Speaker 7: You can't win with that, you know. But I think
- 48:53Speaker 7: for the most part, you figure it out and the
- 48:55Speaker 7: guys get better and they learn how to play.
- 48:57Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, like, if you have bad tax in
- 49:00Speaker 3: not to take another shot, but at with Matt Patricia
- 49:02Speaker 3: calling the plays and running the offense, then that's a
- 49:05Speaker 3: real concern. But I do think when you have a
- 49:07Speaker 3: guy like O'Brien who did coach around bad tackles at times,
- 49:11Speaker 3: in Houston. I think you'll have the ability to figure
- 49:15Speaker 3: it out. I just you know, I was mentioning yesterday
- 49:17Speaker 3: like Miami a couple of years ago at TUA in
- 49:20Speaker 3: early early stages, and they just basically ran like a
- 49:23Speaker 3: smoke and mirrors, you know, college RPO style offense where
- 49:27Speaker 3: everything was in within five to six yards of the
- 49:30Speaker 3: line of scrimmage. It felt like because they couldn't block it,
- 49:34Speaker 3: that to hang out and push it down the field,
- 49:36Speaker 3: and you just wonder, there's are a ton of ways
- 49:40Speaker 3: to get around it was.
- 49:42Speaker 2: I'd much prefer not to have to figure it out
- 49:44Speaker 2: and open up everything and not have to.
- 49:46Speaker 3: Oh yeah for a weakness.
- 49:49Speaker 5: You want to have a great player at every position,
- 49:51Speaker 5: but that's not realistic.
- 49:51Speaker 4: Well I'm not even saying great, but just competent. You know,
- 49:54Speaker 4: where it's not a it's not a weakness, it's you know,
- 49:57Speaker 4: guy can hold his own.
- 49:59Speaker 3: Now, if you got DeAndre Hopkins out here and you
- 50:02Speaker 3: have the receivers that they already have and guys are
- 50:04Speaker 3: getting open quickly, then maybe it's not as big of
- 50:07Speaker 3: an issue.
- 50:07Speaker 2: And it doesn't really matter.
- 50:08Speaker 4: But you know, it's it's a story that we have
- 50:12Speaker 4: to keep an eye on this whole left tackle right
- 50:15Speaker 4: tackle thing.
- 50:16Speaker 6: Yeah, and I would say too, like it's just it's
- 50:18Speaker 6: it's that both spots are kind of uncertain, you know,
- 50:20Speaker 6: like if you have some uncertainty on one side, you
- 50:22Speaker 6: gotta have a guy chip and help the right tackle.
- 50:24Speaker 6: Like I don't think that's a big deal, but I
- 50:26Speaker 6: just think not knowing what you have really on the
- 50:28Speaker 6: left side or the right side right now, that.
- 50:29Speaker 5: It's it's complicated.
- 50:30Speaker 6: It's not as easy to you know, help both tackles
- 50:33Speaker 6: if you're getting inconsistent play, which is I mean, I
- 50:35Speaker 6: think what we kind of saw a little bit last
- 50:37Speaker 6: year at times. So yeah, it's uh, it's definitely an
- 50:40Speaker 6: issue that I'll be very curious when we get to
- 50:42Speaker 6: training camp day one. You know, is Calvin Anderson still
- 50:45Speaker 6: out there or is you know, is Trent Brown kind
- 50:47Speaker 6: of working his way in?
- 50:48Speaker 7: Mike, you missed a little training camp preview that just
- 50:51Speaker 7: went on a little bit. There's a little red zone
- 50:53Speaker 7: work and there seven on seven and DeVante Parker doing
- 50:56Speaker 7: what DeVante Parker does. He went up up over John
- 51:00Speaker 7: Nothing Jones and you know, had a nice uh fifty
- 51:02Speaker 7: to fifty ball on a on a fade in the
- 51:04Speaker 7: back corner of the end zone from Mac. But we'll
- 51:07Speaker 7: get used to that because that's how we'll open training
- 51:09Speaker 7: camp and everybody will ask him, why are.
- 51:11Speaker 3: You doing so much? They did drive the ball down
- 51:14Speaker 3: there and this I don't know how much the defense
- 51:16Speaker 3: is no, right, yeah, rightly, But they threw a couple
- 51:19Speaker 3: of you know, Kasiki caught one, Henry and and uh
- 51:23Speaker 3: Parker on those kind of fades. Uh Kasiki and Henry's
- 51:26Speaker 3: was more from like in the slot, and I think
- 51:29Speaker 3: those we were talking about this yesterday, like what's Max's
- 51:31Speaker 3: best throws, like those touch throws where he can put
- 51:34Speaker 3: a little underneath it and and kind of just put
- 51:36Speaker 3: it in a spot for a guy he does throw
- 51:38Speaker 3: throw those pretty well.
- 51:39Speaker 7: It was perfect timing too, because then he had two
- 51:42Speaker 7: of those right after you had mentioned that, Evan yesterday
- 51:44Speaker 7: to each of the tight ends.
- 51:46Speaker 5: Yeah, you know Henry and Kasiki.
- 51:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I just I like watching Kasiki run routes. I mean,
- 51:50Speaker 3: he's he's really really smooth, and you see some of
- 51:53Speaker 3: that ability at the top of the route to you know,
- 51:57Speaker 3: fake and and really burst out of the break and
- 51:59Speaker 3: they like that. And he he definitely moves like a receiver.
- 52:03Speaker 3: I mean, there's no doubt that.
- 52:05Speaker 6: It seems like they're maybe doing two minute drill, no huddle,
- 52:08Speaker 6: oh off the fingertips, nice little ears. Looked like Mapo
- 52:12Speaker 6: got maybe a little that could have been but that
- 52:14Speaker 6: but but that could have been one of those plays
- 52:16Speaker 6: where you're looking at for those those running backs. Looks
- 52:20Speaker 6: like he's building a little momentum that balls probably should
- 52:23Speaker 6: be caught.
- 52:23Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, and that's you know, not an easy play.
- 52:26Speaker 7: I'm not trying to make it. I wouldn't say it
- 52:28Speaker 7: was a drop that should be embarrassing, but you know
- 52:31Speaker 7: it's a play that you know, James White obviously.
- 52:34Speaker 3: Makes that catch. That was Zappi throwing. Yeah, it was
- 52:36Speaker 3: a good throw too. Uh, you know, one more player too.
- 52:39Speaker 6: I think we should maybe just like mentioned we've been
- 52:41Speaker 6: talking so much about Mapoo. It seems like mac Wilson's
- 52:45Speaker 6: definitely in this linebacker mixed rotation. And I mean it
- 52:49Speaker 6: wasn't great last year the Baltimore game. He I think
- 52:52Speaker 6: he struggled a lot when they were trying to have
- 52:53Speaker 6: him kind of spy lamar. But but it's it seems
- 52:57Speaker 6: like between Bentley to Viye, Mac Wilson those that's kind
- 53:01Speaker 6: of your as you used.
- 53:02Speaker 5: To say, Paul, that interior trio. Three guys for two spots.
- 53:05Speaker 6: I don't know how Mapu's going to fit into that,
- 53:07Speaker 6: but as far as the reps and stuff, it seems
- 53:10Speaker 6: like Mac Wilson's gonna be uh, it's going to be
- 53:12Speaker 6: part of this linebacker rotation.
- 53:15Speaker 4: Let's see Alex in Englewood, New Jersey wants to start
- 53:18Speaker 4: a GoFundMe for Paul to get binoculars.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Everybody using binocular thirteen dollars.
- 53:26Speaker 5: I can't afford that.
- 53:26Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 53:27Speaker 2: I have a lot of tuition to pay a lot
- 53:30Speaker 2: of bud light to buy a middle life.
- 53:34Speaker 3: I got, I got a lot.
- 53:35Speaker 2: I got a lot of responsibility from Yeah, it's still
- 53:38Speaker 2: going seven on seven here, Yeah yeah, Mac back in Yeah, but.
- 53:42Speaker 6: Seeing a little Josh Bledsoe too at the safety spot.
- 53:45Speaker 6: I haven't mentioned his name at all.
- 53:47Speaker 3: Pepper's I'm in the Star on Kasiki now born in
- 53:51Speaker 3: park are Out. I love this. The Gonzales with Jack
- 53:54Speaker 3: Jones on the outside, I feel like that gives them
- 53:56Speaker 3: a ton of versatility. Yeah, ah and macus picks.
- 54:00Speaker 2: Speaking of Jack Jones, he went down the sideline to
- 54:03Speaker 2: the tight end and Jack Jones cut over the middle, and.
- 54:08Speaker 3: I think it was intentional, yea, that it may have
- 54:10Speaker 3: been intentional. So Borne ran a vertical post and then
- 54:14Speaker 3: Henry tried to wheel it and Jack Jones just came
- 54:17Speaker 3: off the post and jumped it.
- 54:18Speaker 7: I think that's Jack Jones's best trade.
- 54:20Speaker 3: That's that was vintage Jack coming off and jumping.
- 54:24Speaker 7: I like him better when he does, like the interception
- 54:26Speaker 7: against Detroit last year, than him jumping every route on
- 54:30Speaker 7: the guy that he's covering, because I think that's a
- 54:31Speaker 7: very dangerous technique that he does. It worked against Screen Bay,
- 54:35Speaker 7: obviously in overtime it didn't work as well.
- 54:38Speaker 3: Yeah, that one reminded me of the pick that he
- 54:40Speaker 3: had against the Lions.
- 54:41Speaker 7: The Lions, absolutely that was his play of the season.
- 54:44Speaker 7: That was a great play that day.
- 54:45Speaker 3: That was exactly the same type of combination. They tried
- 54:49Speaker 3: to flood it and he just he just read the quarterback.
- 54:52Speaker 5: Don't want to Kasiki.
- 54:55Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's just it.
- 54:56Speaker 5: You know, this is it's kind of the offense we
- 54:58Speaker 5: will watch.
- 54:58Speaker 6: Last year, with the exception of Kasicki, you know, right now,
- 55:00Speaker 6: it's it's all guys that were kind of around.
- 55:05Speaker 3: Ken going with the red tights today.
- 55:07Speaker 5: Yeah, underneath his he's wearing the required uniform.
- 55:11Speaker 3: Thank you, tights. I got it, so we do. You
- 55:17Speaker 3: didn't get an eighties reference.
- 55:18Speaker 5: Don't explain that to me.
- 55:19Speaker 7: I spare you some talks about disrespect, talks about.
- 55:22Speaker 3: Like I'm some millennial.
- 55:23Speaker 2: That reminds me.
- 55:24Speaker 4: I always used to tell my kid, when you're at
- 55:26Speaker 4: those showcase tournaments, always wear something colorful.
- 55:29Speaker 6: So that's a great Scouts kidding, next level recruiting, call
- 55:33Speaker 6: that peacocking, you know, yeah, yeah, show up.
- 55:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:37Speaker 7: We used to make fun of kids in high school,
- 55:39Speaker 7: like you try off for like these travel teams, like
- 55:42Speaker 7: you know, eighth grade, ninth grade, and kid would show
- 55:45Speaker 7: up with.
- 55:45Speaker 3: His name on his back. Loser, loser.
- 55:49Speaker 6: Ye, friends, you got be more subtle, right, You just
- 55:51Speaker 6: need like a like a just something that's different from
- 55:54Speaker 6: the neon sleeve with the red tights keeps, I keep
- 55:58Speaker 6: noticing him, tights.
- 56:01Speaker 3: What does you get those wonderful toys?
- 56:04Speaker 2: Drops back, looks downfield, goes short, go short?
- 56:08Speaker 5: Is that Pier Pete Strong? Nice adjustment by Pierre Strong.
- 56:12Speaker 3: Pete Strong a little bit to buy and coverage. Yeah,
- 56:19Speaker 3: Patriots defense of the back end. They just they're in
- 56:23Speaker 3: like mid season, they're already spinning the dial. It's like
- 56:27Speaker 3: yesterday to hide the single high like buzz coverage things
- 56:31Speaker 3: like that. It's like, guys, it's it's June. Like the
- 56:34Speaker 3: offensive chance to I know, well, that's like the question.
- 56:36Speaker 6: It's like, I mean, I'm sure on one hand, the
- 56:38Speaker 6: offense enjoys having a challenge and having to decipher the
- 56:41Speaker 6: Patriots defense post snap. But at the same time, not
- 56:44Speaker 6: every defense does that, And you're trying to work on
- 56:46Speaker 6: your own stuff, and do you get too much in
- 56:48Speaker 6: your own head, you know, trying to adjust to what
- 56:51Speaker 6: they're doing, and is that screwing up what you're trying to.
- 56:54Speaker 4: I remember there was one practice Paul was a training camp.
- 56:57Speaker 4: This is back in the Brady days where Bellichi actually
- 57:00Speaker 4: yelled at the defense because they knew what the plays were.
- 57:03Speaker 4: They were like jumping the plays because they knew what
- 57:05Speaker 4: was coming, and Belichick's like, knock it off.
- 57:08Speaker 3: I think that happens even now. I think it.
- 57:11Speaker 7: Listen, I didn't hear anybody say anything yesterday. Yeah, I
- 57:14Speaker 7: think it happened on the play that Kyle Duger picked
- 57:16Speaker 7: off the pass from Mac.
- 57:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:17Speaker 7: I think Max's reaction to me told me that, come on, Kyle,
- 57:21Speaker 7: you know what we're doing. You know, like you don't
- 57:24Speaker 7: have to underpat the route.
- 57:25Speaker 3: Yeah, what are we doing, Kyle, Kyle, come on, palms up,
- 57:29Speaker 3: hair strong. A couple of catch this year and nice
- 57:31Speaker 3: angle right out of the backfield there, James James Robson
- 57:34Speaker 3: get cut. He's like, hey, time to shine. That throw
- 57:40Speaker 3: is just money. That dropped it in the buckets between
- 57:42Speaker 3: two guys.
- 57:43Speaker 6: He just turned around, turned around, just put his hands
- 57:46Speaker 6: kind of like on his side and the.
- 57:47Speaker 3: Ball and he even had to high point that he
- 57:50Speaker 3: did the Randy Moss thing too.
- 57:51Speaker 5: He didn't react to.
- 57:52Speaker 2: It until the ball was just dropped it right in
- 57:54Speaker 2: the bucket.
- 57:56Speaker 3: Very good.
- 57:56Speaker 5: Somewhere.
- 57:57Speaker 3: Claire Cooper's getting excited every time we bring up Kasiki
- 58:00Speaker 3: those throws in the offense, like that they need to
- 58:03Speaker 3: feature that throw. That slot fade Mac through great slot
- 58:06Speaker 3: fades at Alabama too, Like that was him and Devonte
- 58:10Speaker 3: Smith and John Metchi Like that's that's his butter right there.
- 58:13Speaker 3: He can make that throw all day. Bread and butter,
- 58:15Speaker 3: just his butter, just his butter.
- 58:17Speaker 5: But it's like butter.
- 58:19Speaker 3: It's like butter. No bread on that one. That was
- 58:22Speaker 3: like bread that one into two blue shirts. Yeah, so
- 58:27Speaker 3: a little news out a at a Buffalo Buffalos A
- 58:30Speaker 3: Buffalo broke up with Stefon Diggs. Not at mandatory mini
- 58:35Speaker 3: camp ody function. Sean McDermott is mad about it. Press conference.
- 58:42Speaker 3: He's already taking shots you can get.
- 58:45Speaker 7: But that's an issue. I'm sorry, that's an issue.
- 58:48Speaker 3: He said that.
- 58:49Speaker 2: Sean, I hope it's an issue.
- 58:51Speaker 3: Sean McDermott said he's very concerned that Stefan Diggs is
- 58:55Speaker 3: for six months. Yeah, he has an issue. Yeah, we'll
- 58:58Speaker 3: take I think he's pissy at the quarterback.
- 59:00Speaker 2: We'll take him. What, Well, We'll trade your Trent Brown
- 59:03Speaker 2: for Stefon Diggs straight up.
- 59:05Speaker 3: No, I'm serious though. I actually think that there's some
- 59:07Speaker 3: tension there. I'm dead serious because I think he thinks
- 59:10Speaker 3: that Josh Allen played like like crap in that playoff game.
- 59:13Speaker 3: And I think he he's been pouting for a while. Yeah,
- 59:19Speaker 3: I think he wants to go play with his brother.
- 59:20Speaker 3: And what's he mad about?
- 59:21Speaker 2: Money?
- 59:22Speaker 3: Is it just money?
- 59:23Speaker 7: No, I think he's mad about his targets at oh
- 59:26Speaker 7: at various times.
- 59:28Speaker 3: That's I'm not saying he's right. I'm just saying I
- 59:30Speaker 3: think he's I think he's been.
- 59:32Speaker 2: As crazy as it sounds. I could see if it
- 59:35Speaker 2: was money that he was pissy about, but targets not.
- 59:38Speaker 3: I don't think he's mad at I don't know if
- 59:40Speaker 3: it's necessarily targets. I think that he's mad that they
- 59:44Speaker 3: haven't won. Honestly, you know, but I.
- 59:47Speaker 5: Think he wasn't getting targeted.
- 59:49Speaker 2: Not coming to practice isn't gonna help that.
- 59:51Speaker 3: No, I don't think he wants to. I don't think
- 59:52Speaker 3: he believes in it. Like I think he's starting to
- 59:54Speaker 3: have some doubt.
- 59:54Speaker 5: I'm done.
- 59:55Speaker 2: I love it, love it, yeah, uh not enough good? Bad.
- 59:58Speaker 3: But I also think he wants to play with the brother.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: I really think that that's that's a big cowboy.
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: That's a good spot for him. Quick quick question, since
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: even broke the ice on other teams, I just I
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: couldn't help.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: But see question Kansas City's receiving core.
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: What do you guys feel about that?
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: Like, like, I mean, we talked so long about like
- 1:00:12Speaker 6: you're wasting Brady's window. Uh, you know, and he certainly
- 1:00:15Speaker 6: made plenty of work, but I just look at like,
- 1:00:17Speaker 6: you know, Marquez Valdez, Scantling, Rashid Rice who is sky Moore?
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: Uh and and Cadarius Tony.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: That's their top four. Well, how do you feel about that?
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: Like if you're if you're a.
- 1:00:30Speaker 7: Chiefs fan, But I think I think Valdez, Scantling, and
- 1:00:33Speaker 7: Tony are very talented.
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: Yeah. Interesting, And you left out Kelsey?
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: Well, of course, of course, I mean he's the key piece.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: But you know it's like, I mean he goes down
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: to fall apart last year.
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: Homes they'd be in trouble.
- 1:00:48Speaker 6: It's just it's an interesting comparison because I feel like
- 1:00:51Speaker 6: it's kind of similar, like, yeah, they have some talent there,
- 1:00:53Speaker 6: but not really anything proven. You know, of course Kelsey
- 1:00:56Speaker 6: money in the bank for them, But you know what
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: point if that he gets dinged up one year, you know,
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: how does it look curious?
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:01:04Speaker 7: Now, to me, the wild card there is Tony. He's
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: a first round pick, hasn't really panned out. But I
- 1:01:11Speaker 7: thought he went there last year and gave him some juice.
- 1:01:13Speaker 7: I thought there was some plays there that he made
- 1:01:15Speaker 7: for them down the stretch when he's healthy. I think
- 1:01:18Speaker 7: that's the problem with him is he hasn't been able
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: to consistently play five games in a row. Yeah, I
- 1:01:22Speaker 7: mean we like Sky Moore, right, Sky could be a player.
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: About but I think he's got some talent.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: It reminds me of like you know the thirteen Patriots,
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: where it's like you have Patrick Mahomes, Right, so you're
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: probably gonna win twelve games just because you have Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: And it might not be the ceiling that you are
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: the actually really it's more the floor, right. It might
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: not be the floor that you necessarily want in a
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: championship window, but I mean they're gonna be right in
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: the mixer garden less side of.
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: That young Bailey Zappi struggling.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: And yeah, I don't think he had a great set there.
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: Some of it passed way behind the receiver, a short
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: pass and then he was way off the mark on
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: the sideline pass.
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: Looked like a misfire.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: Yeah, hanging his head down a little bit.
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: All right, we get a bit special team sir. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: it seems like it's going.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Seems like the we've got two minutes, we've got to
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: make the most out of it.
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: Come on.
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: The two lines of him just kind of doing their
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: own thing. Uh, seems like the line offensive line. Maybe
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: working on.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: Some screen pass sets getting out.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: I don't know, but I haven't seen any of those
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: guys yet. It's a lot of punction. Like Barringer, I
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: haven't seen him.
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: That was interesting yesterday I pointed out he had the
- 1:02:35Speaker 6: shield on yesterday he didn't have his glasses. They asked
- 1:02:37Speaker 6: him about it in the press conversas, Oh, yeah, we're
- 1:02:39Speaker 6: looking through some stuff. He was kind of close to
- 1:02:41Speaker 6: the vest on the reason for you know, I guess he's.
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: Maybe trying to figure out between.
- 1:02:45Speaker 7: The rexpecs or the Yeah, I think he's probably trying
- 1:02:48Speaker 7: to figure out they.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: Got those contacts that are implanted. Now you don't even
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: need Yeah.
- 1:02:54Speaker 6: I've had contacts to seventh grade. Really, I don't think
- 1:02:56Speaker 6: I could get him and planted.
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: They got him in the eleventh grade.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: Yeah, it's paint.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: It's the way life, the pain man.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: That's another thing.
- 1:03:04Speaker 7: That's another reason why I can't afford binoculars, is your eyes,
- 1:03:09Speaker 7: My eyes cost too much money.
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: Well, what if you just made your contra really zoomy
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: and then you got to kill two birds with one stone,
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: You know what? That makes get some contacts that are
- 1:03:17Speaker 6: really zoomy. You know, Yeah, maybe if I could just
- 1:03:20Speaker 6: adjust them. They should probably try to invent those pull
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: your ears.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: A lot of people calling in saying I should just
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: let you expense binoculars. I mean, if it's going to
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: improve your writing, I'm all for.
- 1:03:32Speaker 7: I am not gonna do the binoculars. I find them
- 1:03:35Speaker 7: to be kind of cumbersome to take with me all
- 1:03:37Speaker 7: the time. I forget them half the time.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: Said, people that use binoculars are heardos.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: A little bit.
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: Really, there's a little bit of that.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: So I want to see so maharto.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: I guess, Yeah, I guess I'm because I'm constantly looking
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: through the All you want to see is who somebody is.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't see it without the binoculars.
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's not like you can't see the play
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: without the binocia.
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: I know, but I'd like to see who's doing it.
- 1:04:00Speaker 5: And I just asked you guys, like, who is that?
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: Just seven nice? You know? Evan says, I was sick.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: I got a training pat camp backpack right where I
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: got all all the materials. You got some binoculars, you
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: got some blocks, you got a rain poncho just in
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: case it comes out of nowhere. Pens. Uh.
- 1:04:20Speaker 7: The pens is something I was taught very early in
- 1:04:23Speaker 7: my always have an extra pant Oh.
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and batteries for your recorder.
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: But Bob and Wilmington good time for this special team,
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: so it's a good time for this question.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Is there any news regarding new uniforms?
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: The blue on blue home colors make the players look
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: like they're wearing pajamas. Adding a red jersey or red
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: pants seem like a perfect match. Watching Mac and the
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: other guys wearing red, no contexts look better. When will
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: the Patriots be eligible for another uniform change?
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: Fred, I don't know.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: You don't know, but we did talk about it was
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: funny we were talking about that.
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: I think they need to get rid of the silver
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: helmets and go to white with the new logo. I
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: think that would be sharp. And I think you go
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: with with white pants blue and white red on white.
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: I think that would be that's sharp. Get rid of
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: the gray pants with the silver helmet. They don't match anyway,
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: so let's go to white. That's just my two cents
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: for the uniforms.
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: I know I'm just reading about.
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: This is one tweet I'm saying, Well, somebody said the
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: Bills gave Steffan Digs more than sixteen million on a
- 1:05:23Speaker 6: bonus three months ago. His dead cap number is monstrous.
- 1:05:26Speaker 6: They can't trade him.
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: Yeah, No, he's he's stuck so and he's already getting paid.
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: So I really is bitchy. It's not money, it's he's
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: being bitchy.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: Right, but it's but how do you how do you
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: amend that fence?
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: I guess if you're them right, I mean when when
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: he realizes that he can't get paid if he doesn't come,
- 1:05:42Speaker 7: he comes.
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: That's funny.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: No, I don't think it couldn't happen to a better guy.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: I don't think his long term I always hate Steffan
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: Digs though that's my thing term.
- 1:05:52Speaker 7: I don't think it's great for him in Buffalo, but
- 1:05:54Speaker 7: I don't really think it'll have much of an impact.
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: I think that there was I told I mentioned it
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: the other day. I don't know what show we were
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: doing about the about the girlfriend, and I was like
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: kind of tongue in cheek about that. But there was
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: some stuff behind the scenes heading into that Bengals playoff
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: game that was not right with the whole operation there
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: in Buffalo, and I think that that's why you saw
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: the Stefan Diggs tirade after.
- 1:06:18Speaker 7: The game was because they didn't think he was prepared.
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: They weren't bought in like they weren't they weren't all
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: in on it. Yeah, I really think drops snap on
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: that punt. Yeah, not ideal.
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: Well, I mean it was a it was a kind
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: of weird year for the Bills last year, you know,
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: with the Hamlin thing and all that.
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: I think, I mean, are you firing Evan though?
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: The breakup, Josh Allen's breakup was it was a piece
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: of that puzzle.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: That that's what. Look, I have no information on this whatsoever.
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: I just read Buffalo people that have information on these
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: type and that if you turn on you know, Buffalo
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: Sports Radio, you go to ninety eighty five in Buffalo,
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: that that was a topic the conversations. Those are shows
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: in Buffalo. Buffalo. They had me on every once in
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: a while. It's great. Yeah, they they definitely talked about
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: some off the field, you know, personal matters with Josh
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: Allen at that time of the year and uh, with
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: with his personal life, and it looked like a player
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: that wasn't exactly locked down.
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: We all, we all, we all agree that Josh Allen
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: is an amazing quarterbacks.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: Is he a smart guy? Is he smart?
- 1:07:26Speaker 7: Don't Yeah, you can't make the leaps and bounds improvements
- 1:07:30Speaker 7: that he did without being a smart guy. I mean
- 1:07:33Speaker 7: that's just my opinion from Afar. Well, it's like Evan said, like,
- 1:07:36Speaker 7: I don't know, we don't talk to these guys. Well, Evan,
- 1:07:39Speaker 7: Evan has had a chance to talk.
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: Josh expressed his love. Uh so, so Diggs was just like, hey, man,
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: suck it up like the girl dumpy.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: We gotta win a super Bowl.
- 1:07:48Speaker 7: And Josh was like, understand if if what Evan's talking about,
- 1:07:51Speaker 7: we're getting some of those looks with a different quarterback.
- 1:07:54Speaker 7: By the way that we talked about yesterday, the Evan's
- 1:08:00Speaker 7: talking about, I could see like Stefan Dick saying like
- 1:08:02Speaker 7: your it's not right man, You're you're you're not ready
- 1:08:04Speaker 7: for the game, like you know, you let.
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: Us all that. I could understand that causing some some
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: of a rift.
- 1:08:10Speaker 7: Yeah, and he's an outspoken guy, like I think so
- 1:08:13Speaker 7: you know, you guys are hard on him as a person,
- 1:08:16Speaker 7: but he's an outspoken guy. And those receivers when they
- 1:08:19Speaker 7: like they're all the same, right, from the same cloth.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: They're all divas well.
- 1:08:23Speaker 6: The good news is this dating an actress that's usually
- 1:08:25Speaker 6: pretty smooth sailing, you know, generally.
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: Eliminates Yeah, no drama with the actresses. Those eliminated drama work.
- 1:08:33Speaker 7: But Tony Braxton called and said, just looking to wreck
- 1:08:37Speaker 7: another franchise.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: Diggs did some interview I don't know if it was
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: it was right after the season or on a podcast
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: or something like that where he just talked about Buffalo's
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: championship window and the fact that they right now that
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: hit with his he's thirty thirty one years old and
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: he's not getting any younger, and they start of have
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: this this couple of year period right now to maximize
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: the championship window. So it's not I don't think it's
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: money like Paul has been saying, because he's getting paid
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: and he's in on a good team, so he's buffaloed out.
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: I think he's just agitated by the lack of urgency.
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: He could be right too.
- 1:09:13Speaker 7: I mean I think he's wrong, but he could be
- 1:09:15Speaker 7: right in just saying like like the Celtics, right, like
- 1:09:19Speaker 7: these guys are wonderfully talented, but it's never gonna happen.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: Here very similar.
- 1:09:22Speaker 7: Maybe maybe that's what they're feeling. And I know that
- 1:09:24Speaker 7: people have used that comparison, you know, the Celtics to
- 1:09:28Speaker 7: the Bills. I personally don't ever remember the Bills being favored, uh,
- 1:09:32Speaker 7: you know in the AFC Championship game, the way the
- 1:09:34Speaker 7: Celtics are routinely playing a vastly inferior team, the way
- 1:09:37Speaker 7: the Celtics always seem to do every playoff series.
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: That goes seven games.
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: Really about the Celtic shots. But but I do think
- 1:09:44Speaker 7: that maybe Stefan Diggs looks at it that way. Yeah,
- 1:09:47Speaker 7: you know, again, I think he's wrong because to me,
- 1:09:50Speaker 7: if I was, if you're a competitor, you figure out
- 1:09:52Speaker 7: a way to get over the hump. You don't figure
- 1:09:54Speaker 7: out a way to bitch about everything and say nothing's
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: my fault, it's all their fault.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: And that seems to be what he's doing.
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: But yeah, I just don't understand how not showing up
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: for practice is going to help that situation. Be a leader,
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: Get out there and yell at Josh Allen and yell
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: at your coaches.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: I'd rather see you do that than not. Sure he
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: did plenty of that on the sideline.
- 1:10:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I think they really need Kinkaid to be a
- 1:10:15Speaker 6: player for them to, you know, just take some of
- 1:10:17Speaker 6: the pressure off of that.
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:10:20Speaker 7: They're like, listen, they'd be very good if Stefan Diggs
- 1:10:23Speaker 7: wasn't there. But they're not a contender without Diggs in
- 1:10:27Speaker 7: my opinion. I mean last year they really weren't a
- 1:10:30Speaker 7: contender with them.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: Yeah, God knows.
- 1:10:32Speaker 5: The Patriots haven't been able to figure him out.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: I just love it. Boom, I just love it.
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: Poo boom.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: They get the paste up there and they just can't
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: get it. They just can't get it off.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: What are your is Coln Cower one of your guys,
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: Paul that Jewels? Ye might have a Jewels sighting.
- 1:10:47Speaker 7: I think that it looks like him anyway, but I
- 1:10:49Speaker 7: can't tell Edelman. I think he might have heard that
- 1:10:52Speaker 7: Cunningham referred to himself as a.
- 1:10:53Speaker 6: Better yeahs I'm here where where we are? We right
- 1:10:56Speaker 6: here at the corner standing with that Christ Mattis.
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: I think maybe, oh.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that's settlement, little man, that's settlement. Bumps. I hope
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: he uh he says hello, Jules to be in town. Yeah,
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: and I saw.
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: I think inside the NFL is moving to.
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: Like U P N or something.
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: They're mov into some weird channel c W, c W.
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: Sorry. Inside the NFL, that's on. Yeah, it's like showtime.
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: It's going to be on the W.
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: Is that good or bad? Because now everyone I think
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: you don't have to have showtime.
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: I think it's good.
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: I I mean, I know it's changed a lot over
- 1:11:37Speaker 6: the years, but growing up for me, inside the NFL.
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: With who was it?
- 1:11:41Speaker 6: It was.
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: I that was?
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: That was then watched TV.
- 1:11:50Speaker 7: For me, I don't watch any of those shows anymore.
- 1:11:53Speaker 7: I used to watch them when when not well you
- 1:11:55Speaker 7: don't like football, Paul, those shows you don't like the NFL,
- 1:11:59Speaker 7: then why don't you? I love because to me it's
- 1:12:01Speaker 7: it was the nostalgia.
- 1:12:02Speaker 5: I loved it. Jewels just signed an Edelman jersey kid
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: getting the fist bump.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: That's great, that's great, glad they let the kids run
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: down there, and that's all about the kids. About the kids.
- 1:12:13Speaker 6: Well, yeah, you know, of course you got an Edelman
- 1:12:14Speaker 6: the kid like you know, oh my god, so got
- 1:12:17Speaker 6: an Edlman jersey was a Chrystal goodseus like just where
- 1:12:19Speaker 6: a buddy will be?
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: Then then all of a sudden Edem's standing right.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: In front of you.
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: I have no idea what you're talking about.
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: You're not a parent, Evan, your dog doesn't wear jerseys?
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: No, my god, thank god?
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: Should we just went up a number of notches in
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: my book?
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: Even Let me see if we can get Edelman up here.
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: Let me see, uh, if we can get him up here?
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: Do that for why not, Jewels? That's less time for
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: us to have this dead air right have so much
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: to talk about. Dig's talking. We're doing some run stuff
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: right now, and I I wonder, you know, there's so
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: much talk about are they going to go back to
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: being a gap scheme? Are they going to go back
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: to running downhill and all that kind of stuff, And
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: right now they're they're not exactly doing that. I wouldn't
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: say this is like full Kyle Shanahan outside zone either,
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: but they're doing some misdirection stuff there. They are getting
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: out on the edge a little bit though, and trying
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: trying to threaten the edge. But I just wonder how
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: much of this right now is is just well, we
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: don't have pads on, so we're not We're not gonna
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: really be running running gap and encounter right now without
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: being able to really contact anybody, but she talk about
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: I mean, it's just another readoption here on this field.
- 1:13:32Speaker 6: Like, I mean, it's just it's very significant to me
- 1:13:35Speaker 6: that they're practice practicing this both days of mini camp now, Like, yeah, I.
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: Can't I can't remember them doing it this much in
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: nine on seven like this, uh, this time of year.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sure they did this type of stuff
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: when they were game planning for specific you know, Mars
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: come to town. You're you're doing it on a Wednesday.
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: But it just shows this has become a part of
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: the league and like you just you have to be
- 1:13:55Speaker 6: prepared for this, no matter what your schedule looks like
- 1:13:57Speaker 6: or what quarterback is on the docket.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: You have to know how to defend this stuff.
- 1:14:02Speaker 6: But it's just, you know, it's one of those things
- 1:14:04Speaker 6: where you feel like you're their recurring themes to seasons,
- 1:14:07Speaker 6: and I felt like last year that was one of them,
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: and it was just like man again, like you know,
- 1:14:12Speaker 6: Lamar second half just ran all over them, justin fields.
- 1:14:16Speaker 6: Never even really did any of this stuff until that game,
- 1:14:18Speaker 6: and then all of a sudden, they win their only
- 1:14:20Speaker 6: road game of the whole year, the last game of
- 1:14:22Speaker 6: the season that they won you know, on the on
- 1:14:24Speaker 6: the legs.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: Of Justin Field. So it's I don't always say it's encouraging,
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: but it's at.
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: Least you know they're trying to figure out how to
- 1:14:31Speaker 5: decipher all that stuff right now.
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: I think it's good. I mean, they definitely have the
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: quarterback or whatever you want to call Malik Sunningham. They
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: have the person to do it very subtle, very subtle.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: So I think that that ends good.
- 1:14:43Speaker 7: And I know, don't dismiss and there's a couple of
- 1:14:46Speaker 7: things I want to talk about with this, but don't
- 1:14:47Speaker 7: dismiss the fact that mcsloley's taking a lot.
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: Of these steps too. Yep, and he can do that stuff.
- 1:14:51Speaker 7: There was something yesterday that kind of stuck out to
- 1:14:54Speaker 7: me in the transcript. Evan, you were in the press conference,
- 1:14:56Speaker 7: so you kind of saw how it went. There were
- 1:14:58Speaker 7: a couple of questions about Mac and Bailey Zappy, their
- 1:15:02Speaker 7: relationship and how they feed, and I think there was
- 1:15:04Speaker 7: a follow up question and Bill in the middle of
- 1:15:08Speaker 7: the second answer injected trace McSorley, which I think was.
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: Trying to in his way.
- 1:15:14Speaker 7: Again, I didn't hear it to hear context, but to
- 1:15:18Speaker 7: me it was kind of an effort to say, like,
- 1:15:19Speaker 7: don't forget we have a third quarterback on the roster.
- 1:15:22Speaker 7: Don't dismiss this guy. And I just wonder if you know,
- 1:15:25Speaker 7: with Cunningham saying that he's strictly a wide receiver and
- 1:15:30Speaker 7: him bringing up mc sorely in a question about Zappi
- 1:15:34Speaker 7: and Jones, I just wonder if there's a little bit
- 1:15:37Speaker 7: more to that than we think, because I have sort
- 1:15:39Speaker 7: of written him off McSorley right now. Yeah, I wonder
- 1:15:44Speaker 7: if they haven't.
- 1:15:45Speaker 6: Right, because I mean, how much can Cunningham do? I mean,
- 1:15:48Speaker 6: it's nice that he that he could run, but you know,
- 1:15:50Speaker 6: do you really need a guy that I mean, if you.
- 1:15:53Speaker 7: Honestly want him to try to be a wide receiver,
- 1:15:55Speaker 7: how much of the week do you want him doing
- 1:15:58Speaker 7: read option stuff?
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: Yeah? I think the question with with Cunningham is always
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: going to be how good does he look in those
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: preseason games? And I even at the joint practices to
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: do a degree with with Green Bay and in Tennessee,
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: because he, to me is an ideal scout team practice
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: squad guy like.
- 1:16:16Speaker 7: That would be great to see in those Green Bay
- 1:16:18Speaker 7: and Tennessee practices. Evan, does he get do they run
- 1:16:21Speaker 7: these kinds of place, right, yeah, you know with him
- 1:16:24Speaker 7: as quarterback, right because I think right now he's going
- 1:16:26Speaker 7: to be a wide receiver. But I wonder if they
- 1:16:28Speaker 7: have some sort of package for him that they they
- 1:16:31Speaker 7: want to see how it looks against Green Bay intent.
- 1:16:33Speaker 6: I would just say, Paul I was, you know, when
- 1:16:35Speaker 6: when they first signed him. I went and you know,
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: watched a bunch of his stuff and I was really
- 1:16:39Speaker 6: intrigued because it looked like he really had a special
- 1:16:42Speaker 6: second gear.
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: And I haven't seen that yet. I haven't seen.
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: I mean, he's fast, but I haven't seen like he
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: he's pretty question. I mean, he's a he's a mid
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: four to fives guy at the forty. It's not like
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: he ran like a four to three. But he can
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: dance like, you know, like he's got this like really
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: light like running style where he just kind of scampers
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: around a little bit. I oh, time, Montgomery must be
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: the sickest man in America. I don't know who happened
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: he dropped. He's a little you know, I don't know.
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: I don't know who I would compare his running style to.
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: It's it's not it's not quite Lamar. I don't think
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: he's got that explosiveness in the open field like Lamar does,
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: but he has that like ability to just like avoid
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: contact like Lamar does, where he just kind of dances
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: in and out of tackles and then like tiptoes his
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: way out of bounds, so he's not taking a big hit.
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: Or what did Lamar? What did Lamar run? Do you remember?
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: He didn't run? No, he's never run a forty, he said,
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: you know, watch the tape.
- 1:17:36Speaker 5: Yeah, because I just be curious.
- 1:17:38Speaker 6: I mean, some of those guys, like it's not surprising
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: you said he ran a four or five, but it's
- 1:17:42Speaker 6: just some of these players have a second year that
- 1:17:45Speaker 6: you know, I don't know what their time speed is like,
- 1:17:47Speaker 6: but when they're playing football and in the midst of
- 1:17:49Speaker 6: the game, it's just when he's.
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: Jack Shones again, it's time on trace mcsory though. Yeah.
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: So I don't know if you guys mentioned it, but
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: what Cunningham is running here, he's doing against the Pace
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: Trids first defense that was, and the Patriots first offense
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: obviously is is against backups right now, and they're working
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: a lot of their running game.
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: Yeah you got Zappi in now.
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Edelman making his way up the sideline with Slater
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: right now.
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: So this is Zappi and he's with the regulars right now.
- 1:18:28Speaker 7: I mean, I think he's gotten more reps today than
- 1:18:31Speaker 7: I remember him in any of the other practices we've seen.
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: But I don't think he's looked as good to see
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: us another practice. Yeah, I've also noticed that in this practice.
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: Well now he's walking away, but macat no a little
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: bit more with his teammates in this one a little bit.
- 1:18:47Speaker 7: Maybe maybe he was like saying, oh, I probably shouldn't
- 1:18:50Speaker 7: do that. Everybody asked him about it.
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: I think when he got asked about it yesterday, it
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: definitely could have been like, oh, they're noticing this, Like
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: maybe I need to.
- 1:18:59Speaker 7: When I'm treating the rest of the team with just
- 1:19:00Speaker 7: stand probably should hide it a little bit.
- 1:19:02Speaker 6: I mean, I got a I mean, Butard was the
- 1:19:03Speaker 6: first one to kind of write about this stuff, and
- 1:19:05Speaker 6: I hadn't really noticed it through OTAs.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: That's because we actually watched it, But yesterday it was.
- 1:19:10Speaker 6: It was It's definitely noticeable how he was, uh, you know,
- 1:19:14Speaker 6: just trying to stay isolated. And I mean I hope
- 1:19:17Speaker 6: that that's you know, just a mac thing, and that's
- 1:19:19Speaker 6: what he needs to do to kind of lock in.
- 1:19:20Speaker 6: But you know, admittedly it's it is a little bit
- 1:19:23Speaker 6: strange just to you know, see him kind of buy
- 1:19:26Speaker 6: himself most of the practice.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's his that's his routine. Now, that's what he
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: does going through those mental reps.
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: I did buy the explanation a little bit. I just
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: think that I did. There's he can go through the
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: mental reps ten yards away from everybody instead of forty,
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: right like, because it just looks it's not even looking
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: right like. I don't even care. It just it just
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: makes the aesthetic of it with the media out here
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: a little bit. Right.
- 1:19:50Speaker 6: He's just not even watching the play, you know, And
- 1:19:52Speaker 6: you wonder, isn't there something to glean from not necessarily
- 1:19:56Speaker 6: watching Bailey Zappy, but watching your teammates.
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: You see what they're doing and then did that look good?
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: Did that not look good?
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: Why? Right? And what read?
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: Did he take?
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: What?
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: You know, where should the ball have been? I'm sure
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: they watched all this stuff.
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: But yeah, that's and that is one of the big
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: differences between these practices in mini camp and OTAs is
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: they take the time after practice to look at the
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: film of the practice.
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: You know, that's something that you add as you go
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: through the summer.
- 1:20:25Speaker 6: Yeah, that was That was something I learned talking to
- 1:20:27Speaker 6: people this offseason of of just how intensely this film
- 1:20:32Speaker 6: is broken down and people are called out compliment of
- 1:20:36Speaker 6: the whole nine yards in terms of what they're doing.
- 1:20:38Speaker 6: So it's like, you know, one hand, we're watching it,
- 1:20:39Speaker 6: and well, you can't really learn much. I mean, I
- 1:20:42Speaker 6: know that they're taking a lot from it.
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: Yup, there we go, open.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: Field, angle drills, leverage.
- 1:20:49Speaker 5: Yeah, the cornerstone of any Patriots practice.
- 1:20:53Speaker 6: Probably the hardest thing to do, right, I mean, just
- 1:20:55Speaker 6: as a defender square up a guy in open field.
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: And be able to you know, within a Yeah.
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: Hard.
- 1:21:01Speaker 7: The kind of stuff that used to just keep me up,
- 1:21:04Speaker 7: like I just panicked.
- 1:21:06Speaker 5: Yeah, you're gonna get a one on one guy, that's
- 1:21:08Speaker 5: gonna give you a little.
- 1:21:09Speaker 6: I don't want to be in space with anybody, No,
- 1:21:11Speaker 6: not me, No, my football career, I was never in
- 1:21:16Speaker 6: any kind of space with anybody.
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: I was getting high with those with See. That was
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: freshman year.
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: That was the fun.
- 1:21:21Speaker 6: Linebacker was the fun playing offensive and defensive line as
- 1:21:25Speaker 6: a six foot, one hundred and ninety pound guy who can't.
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: Really bend his knees all that. Well, that's the recipe
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: for getting your butt kicked every day.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: It's like you're on skates.
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: It was. It was.
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: Andre from New Jersey. I'm right there with you on.
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: Do screw Digs. I hate him just as much as
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: you do. Hope they completely collapse this season. Their offensive
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: line will let them down and their defense will take
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: a step back.
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: Well, we can only we can only hope, yes, don't.
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: Don't hope that you get better. Just hope all the
- 1:21:54Speaker 7: other teams.
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: Why can't we have both ball Just hope everybody else
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: gets worse? We have both? The healthy chirping on Twitter
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: between between Bill's Twitter and Patriots Twitter.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: Over the last Well, they're making a big deal.
- 1:22:08Speaker 4: About that playoff game that they just destroyed us and
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: that was that turns out to be their super Bowl.
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: That was there with practice squad guys playing corner and yeah,
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: that was their super Bowl.
- 1:22:19Speaker 6: I got a question, what exactly are all our friends
- 1:22:21Speaker 6: in the media right now, because it seems like this
- 1:22:23Speaker 6: whole hill is dominated by all the VIPs.
- 1:22:25Speaker 5: I don't really see they down in front of the
- 1:22:29Speaker 5: front of the wall.
- 1:22:29Speaker 6: I probably I don't see anybody but too bad, mister
- 1:22:33Speaker 6: practice tough two D.
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: But yeah, some some friendly, friendly rivalry type stuff with
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: the Bills media saying, oh, if the Patriots signed DeAndre Hopkins,
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: they're still the worst team in the division. You know,
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: typical ribbing. That's fine, that's bring it on.
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: Maybe they're right.
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I.
- 1:22:57Speaker 5: Try not to fall Down's chill.
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:23:01Speaker 6: I went to my son had a flag football birthday
- 1:23:03Speaker 6: party yesterday. He was wearing crocs in it, like doing
- 1:23:05Speaker 6: moves like we just saw Jack Jones white bottom, like,
- 1:23:07Speaker 6: what are you doing?
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: Crocs?
- 1:23:10Speaker 6: And then Alex told me a lot of time when
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: the players go to schools and they like, you know,
- 1:23:13Speaker 6: visit kids you know that are that are like participating
- 1:23:16Speaker 6: in gym or physical activities, and they have crocs on
- 1:23:18Speaker 6: the players that are all just.
- 1:23:19Speaker 5: Like, what are you doing? Do not wear crocs? We
- 1:23:21Speaker 5: shure trying to cut and run.
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: Claire rights in who everyone Paul waiting to see you
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: in those glasses. One question, how are you guys feeling
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: and what have you seen of Adrian Clem?
- 1:23:34Speaker 5: I feel pretty good.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: Uh, I'm not gonna lie. I think that what I've
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: seen of Adrian Clem is means absolutely nothing so far.
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: I'm not saying that he's done. I'm just not judging it.
- 1:23:51Speaker 5: He looks like coach coaching the offensive line.
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: Yeah, and there's no pads and nobody's hitting anybody. So
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: I'll see in July.
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: Travis and West Virginia says, my best guess about whether
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: Josh Allen is dumb.
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: He thinks he's pretty dumb. But I'm only basing that
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: on the dope look he always has in his face.
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: He's a really dopey looking guy. Paul's assertion that he
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: must be smart because his play is improved is also
- 1:24:13Speaker 4: dope question.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: Why does coach Belichick?
- 1:24:16Speaker 7: Why let performance impact your opinion?
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: Why does coach belicher?
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: Why does coach Belichick always talk to the media before practice?
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: Is that standard across the league? Wouldn't it be more
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: informative to talk to him after practice?
- 1:24:29Speaker 6: Well you just answered your own Yes, there, there you go,
- 1:24:33Speaker 6: all part of the plan, right, Well that was yesterday.
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: I'm not gonna I don't have to talk about.
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: But also there's just I just want to clarify.
- 1:24:41Speaker 7: Yes, So judging whether or not a guy is smart
- 1:24:45Speaker 7: based on his level of improvement, that's dumb judging whether
- 1:24:48Speaker 7: or not a guy is smart based on the look
- 1:24:50Speaker 7: on his face is smart?
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: I wonder if you're gonna let that go?
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: Got it? Okay, Corliss weightman, the punt be better?
- 1:24:59Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, you cannot. We're looking for on that one,
- 1:25:04Speaker 5: you know.
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: But knowing like all the stuff that they do after
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: practice with the film and all that stuff, if I
- 1:25:09Speaker 4: was the head coach, let me get my my you know,
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: press conference over before practice, because after practice.
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: I want to get in. I want to get get
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: my food, my chicken fingers. He doesn't, but let's be honest,
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: like the last thing that he wants is for like,
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: you know, Christian Gonzalz to go off and practice in
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: the million Christian Gonzales questions after practice about how good
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: he was, Like.
- 1:25:34Speaker 6: Bill, Christian had six interceptions during the walkthrough. What have
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: you seen from Christian this year?
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: Yeah? I mean, I.
- 1:25:42Speaker 7: Just think it's easier for him to do it before practice.
- 1:25:45Speaker 7: Quite frankly, I think after practice they get into their routine.
- 1:25:48Speaker 7: They want to get ready, to get the meetings set
- 1:25:50Speaker 7: up and get get into it because like let's just say,
- 1:25:53Speaker 7: for argument's sake, that Christian Gonzalez picks off five passes today.
- 1:25:56Speaker 7: You don't think he's gonna be asked about that tomorrow, right, Like,
- 1:25:59Speaker 7: what's the difference to today?
- 1:26:02Speaker 4: Robert writes in after listening to yesterday's podcast, I had
- 1:26:05Speaker 4: an idea on how you can covertly tell us when
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: Malie Cunningham's on the field, just call him Richie. It's
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: surprising to me the Deuce didn't come up with that
- 1:26:16Speaker 4: an old joke.
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: Rie. I actually thought about it. Then, I know the fas.
- 1:26:23Speaker 4: On the topic of Hopkins. Uh, and something popped up
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: right on the topic of Hopkins. I'm officially on board
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: that the patriot should sign him. I did find it
- 1:26:34Speaker 4: interesting that he said he'd like to play with a
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: quarterback that loves the game. This seems like a dig
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: on Kyle Murray. Kyler Murray, absolute, what do you guys think?
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: Nice pump by Corliss weightman, That was what we were
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: looking for. Kyler likes Madden, but maybe not so much
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: the real stuff. Call of duty guy, Call of duty.
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: Oh sorry, I apologize.
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: Mike writes in, I think the Patriots will regret not
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: signing Gasicki to a two or three year deal.
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: He will earn a huge deal after the season.
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: Is over, so we're already worried about next one.
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: How are we going to resign?
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: To be fair, last year was his outlier here in
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: terms of production. I mean that system was not good
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: for him. Yeah, he had but almost eight hundred yards
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: and I think like sixteen total touchdowns over two seasons
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: there in his second and third year, and last year
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: was I mean he was franchised by Miami to bring
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: him back last year. Franchise tag.
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: Yeah, you don't franchise somebody if you don't think he's
- 1:27:29Speaker 6: gonna be tough somewhorth to you.
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: Well you can do it at that position to get
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: away with him.
- 1:27:34Speaker 7: But yeah, I think that what they did was they
- 1:27:36Speaker 7: weren't quite sure how or if he would fit into
- 1:27:40Speaker 7: McDaniel McDaniel's new system, and then as it turned out,
- 1:27:45Speaker 7: he didn't really. I mean, even like Cedric Wilson is
- 1:27:47Speaker 7: a free agent wide receiver they signed who.
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: Had really no role for them.
- 1:27:51Speaker 7: Not that he's a great player, but he was a
- 1:27:53Speaker 7: pretty good role player in Dallas prior to that, and
- 1:27:56Speaker 7: he really didn't do anything last year. So I think
- 1:28:00Speaker 7: when you get a new system, you don't know exactly
- 1:28:01Speaker 7: how the pieces are all gonna fit and GASICKI obviously
- 1:28:04Speaker 7: do you.
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: Have like thirty some catches last year? Yeah, I mean
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: you just real lowy by a lot. That system just
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: doesn't have a ton of the detached tight end stuff
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: in it. It's a lot of in line hand in
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: the dirt. You got to be able to block and
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: to sell the play action, right, So if you're not,
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: that's just not his game.
- 1:28:19Speaker 7: So I think people could could look at that and
- 1:28:22Speaker 7: easily say, well, you know, George Kittle is a huge
- 1:28:24Speaker 7: part of what they do in San Francisco, but he's
- 1:28:26Speaker 7: such a different kind of player right animal.
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: Looks like they're doing some opportunity seven on seven right
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: now like that.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: I think that's an opportunity for for you to go
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: to the bathroom. Thank you, Paul, Yes, okay, I have
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: a good tinkle about the play of the day yesterday,
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: the trace mcsorly to Trey Nixon connection, the deep ball.
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: I forgot about that. That was honestly probably the best.
- 1:28:48Speaker 7: Actually, you know what I meant, I wrote it down.
- 1:28:50Speaker 7: I meant to included in my maybe I'll throw it
- 1:28:51Speaker 7: in today. I don't think I ever included in my blogs.
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: I was probably the best, like the actualitive deep ball
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: of camp.
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: Sorely taking the snaps there. Who's that whine on the
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: far side?
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: Eighty two wearing bell bottoms, bell bottoms. I was here
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: for that, pretty pretty involved practice for for Pierre Strong,
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: which you know, with James Robinson getting released, I'm still
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: on the Pierre Strong train. I want to see them
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: incorporate him.
- 1:29:27Speaker 7: The skills are obviously, I mean, yeah, he has a
- 1:29:29Speaker 7: level of athleticism and speed.
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: I mean nobody else in that. They don't have very
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: many guys on the roster that that have hit his
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: kind of speed in the open field. You know it's him,
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: It's Taekwon, it's Marcus Jones, like those are kind of
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: the group. And I would just like to see see
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: him get some touches, Like he's one of those guys
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: that even if he only has like four or five
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: touches in a game, if he breaks one for forty
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: yards and you know, it's still impactful even if he's
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: not a volume guy.
- 1:29:57Speaker 7: See Coylus weightman doing some kick cough work and I'm
- 1:30:01Speaker 7: not sure I've seen that is another one for your boy?
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: Is that Harrish.
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: Are too huge?
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: Ye? That's Harris.
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: Have you noticed Weightman doing any of this kicking.
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: Off before today? Not neces, Yes, a few times, Ryland definitely.
- 1:30:21Speaker 6: Off.
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: Yeah, but I I mean, look that last year that
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: that might have cost you the playoffs, the fact that
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: you couldn't kick the ball through the end zone, So
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: that that's a a wide open competition. Not not that
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: that really moves the needle for most people, but kickoff
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: specialists are kicking off. And Bill Belichick was asked this
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: morning about carrying two and he did mention last year
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: how they they elevated, you know, and did that sort
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: of thing and had too active on game day at
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: one point kickers, So he wouldn't rule it out, you know,
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: he said, I wouldn't rull it out. So it's it's
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: possible that they could try to keep another guy around,
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: whether it's Weightman or or both kickers, to have somebody
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: to kick off. I don't love it, but it's possible. Yeah.
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: I don't love it either. I think there's better use.
- 1:31:12Speaker 7: I mean, certainly your fourth round pick should be able
- 1:31:15Speaker 7: to kick field goals and he didn't kick off the
- 1:31:17Speaker 7: great you know who.
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: Knows, Travis uh Yes, Paul Dopey. People are often looked dopey.
- 1:31:25Speaker 7: Yeah, contrary to Peyton Manning one of the dumber quarterbacks.
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: Contrary to your opinion, being good at sports doesn't mean
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: you're smart. Being good at sports doesn't mean you're smart.
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: That's true.
- 1:31:36Speaker 7: Who said that if he's good at sports, he's smart.
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: Well, you said if I.
- 1:31:40Speaker 7: Said, I talked about the level of the swift level
- 1:31:43Speaker 7: of improvement he showed.
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: Yeah, he's good at sports.
- 1:31:47Speaker 7: I mean, you talk he was good at sports when
- 1:31:49Speaker 7: he came into the NFL, but he but he wasn't
- 1:31:51Speaker 7: playing as smart as he does now.
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: That's really I can't really think of too many guys
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: that had to jump that Josh Allen, it's surgery. He's
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: really very, very unique in that respect that he he
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: looked like he couldn't hit.
- 1:32:07Speaker 7: He had a water god given ability when he walked
- 1:32:11Speaker 7: into the league. Yeah, two years later he was one
- 1:32:13Speaker 7: of the best quarterbacks in football.
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: I mean most of the time, like guys that that
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: are just balls of clay like that they their bus
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: like you know you're talking about like Jake Lockers and
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: stuff like that, that are just these freak athletes that
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: they try to mold into quarterbacks. But he's he's really
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: taken an MVP leap. I mean, he's an MVP.
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: Can I just think the interesting to me?
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: I know he plays for another team and everything, you
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: know in my vision and we have to say he sucks.
- 1:32:40Speaker 6: But no, I mean I think he's really good. I
- 1:32:42Speaker 6: got a lot of respect for him. I just want
- 1:32:44Speaker 6: to beat him. But I don't know how anybody can
- 1:32:46Speaker 6: look at him and not saying he's awesome and has
- 1:32:48Speaker 6: had the Patriots number for the last three years.
- 1:32:50Speaker 7: Just the way he plays for the most now, he
- 1:32:52Speaker 7: tries still, I think to do too much at times.
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: That's my worry Paul this year, but not as.
- 1:32:59Speaker 7: Like being like stupid, like I think he tries to
- 1:33:03Speaker 7: do too much. I think the offense last year got
- 1:33:07Speaker 7: a little stale. The Buffalo offense has as the season
- 1:33:10Speaker 7: went on, I thought got.
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: A little stale.
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: I just wonder that they got worn out, you know.
- 1:33:16Speaker 5: I think part of the end of the year is
- 1:33:18Speaker 5: what you're saying.
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: They they're they're an analytically driven organization and they're a
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: team that throws the ball in all situations. Like they
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: in terms of like passing rate over expected and things
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: like that, they are always near the top of the
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: league with Kansas City. I mean they're they're throwing the
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: ball on first and ten, They're throwing the ball and
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: you know, all all situations. And I think what they've
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: found out, especially in that game last year against Cincinnati,
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: if you don't have some semblance of a running game
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: in the playoffs, it makes you one dimensional and when
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: the weather comes in Buffalo it can be a problem.
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: And they signed Damien Harris this offseason, I think, to
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: hopefully bring in what they think will be more of
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: like a running game. And I do think that they
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: get that. But at the same time, they drafted Dalton
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: Kid in the first round, who is basically MIKEA Sicky,
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: So I don't know how much they get it, but
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: they at least are are trying a little bit to.
- 1:34:18Speaker 7: Be no and I think they look at Damien Harris
- 1:34:20Speaker 7: and James Cook as better options for them, you know,
- 1:34:23Speaker 7: traditionally running the ball, and I'd be surprised if they
- 1:34:25Speaker 7: didn't try to run it a little bit more in
- 1:34:28Speaker 7: some of those short yard of situations than they have
- 1:34:30Speaker 7: in the past.
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: Now does Harris do it, I don't know.
- 1:34:32Speaker 7: I mean, when he's healthy, he's reasonably productive, but he's
- 1:34:36Speaker 7: not ever healthy on any consistent basis.
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: I mean, they their whole running game in Buffalo is
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: Josh Allen. And if Josh Allen isn't involved in the run,
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: you know, whether it's keeping the football and actually running
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: it himself or some sort of read option or something
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: like that, they turning around and giving it to the back.
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: They can't do it. They don't do it well. So
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: at some point, especially playing in Buffalo late in the year,
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: I mean, how many playoff games have we seen the
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: Garrett Blunt running down Indianapolis's throat, you know, when it's
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: snowing or it's thirty degrees out and twice it just
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: I was gonna say too, he was irrelevant, Okay, all right,
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: early two thousands games against the Colts were domed. They were,
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: but they were a running team like in those days.
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: That was Antoine Smith. That was.
- 1:35:25Speaker 5: As you said, that's the butter.
- 1:35:26Speaker 6: I just but for me, the bigges thing that I'm
- 1:35:28Speaker 6: worried about with Buffalo, and I'd say that is if
- 1:35:30Speaker 6: I'm a Buffalo fan, it's just all the talk about
- 1:35:32Speaker 6: Josh Allen having to like stop doing what he's been doing,
- 1:35:35Speaker 6: you know, to get away from running the balls.
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: I just if he's in his own head.
- 1:35:39Speaker 3: I think that's a recipe for disaster. I think then
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: you're going to talk about regression.
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: You're going to talk about him trying to force places
- 1:35:44Speaker 6: that aren't there because he's trying to you know, question whether.
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: Or not talking the of Buffalo right now. I love it.
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: I think we're all trying to talk ourselves into it.
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: But it's a good point. And I think like the
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: question is is and as they do like special team
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: stuff that I don't is really an excite too many people.
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: But the question is is do they then get to
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: the playoffs and they're like, all right, now go be
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: Josh Allen like and then.
- 1:36:09Speaker 7: On Well, they tried to do that to him last
- 1:36:12Speaker 7: Like I was joking last year when they played in
- 1:36:14Speaker 7: that kickoff game against the.
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: Rams, and that's all they talked about all summers.
- 1:36:19Speaker 7: We want him to be safer. We wanted to be
- 1:36:21Speaker 7: smarter with some of the decisions running the ball. And
- 1:36:23Speaker 7: I'm like, the first third down of the game, he's
- 1:36:25Speaker 7: like hurdling a linebacker and and you know, taking a
- 1:36:28Speaker 7: shot on the side, Like, oh, it's good to say
- 1:36:30Speaker 7: they're going to be a little bit smartly. I don't
- 1:36:32Speaker 7: think he's capable of doing that. I think he just
- 1:36:33Speaker 7: wants to make He wants to make place.
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: He's not smart. He he just wants to make place.
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: He's not smart. It's I've always thought that Josh Allen
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: is a more natural, better throwing Cam Newton. Sure, and
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: I think that he's Cam was the same way where
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: Cam Newton is the comp He was question he's superman, right,
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: and he's just going to run you over. But the
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: problem was is by year eight, Cam Newton was his
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: whole body started to and I think that he is
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: refined enough that he will be able to play longer
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: than you.
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: I think the comps also Gronk.
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: I think these two guys who are just so naturally gifted,
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: it's like playing in the school yard for them, and
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: they could always just do whatever they want.
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: Belichick used to refer to Gronk as a football player,
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: the Josh Allen one of the smartest football players around. Interesting.
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: Uh. Bill and Edelman spent spite having a goofy look
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: on his face. Billan Edelmans spent that whole UH session
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: talking to each other.
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: There we go. Music's on all right, eleven eleven. We
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: got Mac on the center, yeah, John Jack Jones that
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: outside corner.
- 1:37:41Speaker 5: Yeah, Gonzo watch out?
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: So that all right?
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: So let's just talk about that one.
- 1:37:49Speaker 6: It looked like they were about to run Mackett screen
- 1:37:53Speaker 6: to get SICKI but Jack Jones was like, maybe on
- 1:37:56Speaker 6: a blitz or it looks like.
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: And went right in on it.
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: What are the zoomies?
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: I don't know if that when the dog has the zoomies?
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: They just shot wanting all over the place.
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I did never heard that term. That's great. Maybe
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: I'm like Josh Allen, it's a fun it's a fun time. Yeah.
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: That one was like did you know the play beforehand?
- 1:38:15Speaker 6: Because they were all looking at this in the corner
- 1:38:17Speaker 6: blitz into like a wide receiver screen and like once
- 1:38:20Speaker 6: again not looking good.
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: Oh boy, I think the defenses I think this is
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: real and I think the defense just had two great reps. Yeah,
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: they were in there because they're they're hooting and hollering
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: on the sideline right now.
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, so far we're back to the Patricia offense.
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: Where's with Phil O'Brien? Where is he? Billy?
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: He's some back, He's back left, the man back on
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: the wing, three by one.
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: Is that is that family out wide?
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah it is. It's probably a man like overhead
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: right now over the slot.
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: Yeah, it's just kinda drop into his own in complete
- 1:39:07Speaker 5: to Paka.
- 1:39:08Speaker 3: The floods like just seem cleared out. And to your
- 1:39:12Speaker 3: point of it, I didn't mean to step on you there.
- 1:39:15Speaker 7: Okay, to your point, like you said, this is real
- 1:39:18Speaker 7: and the defense is you know, as soon as that
- 1:39:20Speaker 7: pass was caught and they touched up, Parker Bentley put
- 1:39:23Speaker 7: his hand up in there with the fist fourth down,
- 1:39:26Speaker 7: you know, So I do think this is a little
- 1:39:27Speaker 7: bit more a little bit more competitive than what we've
- 1:39:30Speaker 7: seen tipped past complete to Mac Jones and he could go.
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: So Mac Threw got tipped, Mac caught the tip and
- 1:39:38Speaker 4: then took off when killed and that would have been
- 1:39:41Speaker 4: a touchdown.
- 1:39:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm surprised you hit the gritty there, and just
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: you know, f YI, the.
- 1:39:46Speaker 5: Only rookie on the field right now is Jake Andrews
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: at right guard.
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: So three out of.
- 1:39:51Speaker 6: Four plays not to give me the offensive line then high,
- 1:39:54Speaker 6: uh sure, left, right, left, right, Anderson Strange, Andrews, Andrews mcdermots. Well,
- 1:40:02Speaker 6: I think it seems like McDermott's been get more of
- 1:40:04Speaker 6: the top reps numbers over reap you have.
- 1:40:07Speaker 5: You happen to be lucky that I thought, whoa, that's mandra.
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: Yeah. The offense is having a hard time I think
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: getting in getting in rhythm.
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: I would yeah, I know without Juju and.
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: Into a degree with that. Taekwon too. It's you don't
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: want to get too ahead of yourself, but they just
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: have been really.
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: Really, this is gonna be a top five defense in
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: the league.
- 1:40:34Speaker 7: Everything is just under It might be, but it only
- 1:40:37Speaker 7: it only matter how they played against the other the
- 1:40:39Speaker 7: good offenses like last year.
- 1:40:41Speaker 3: I know, the five defense last year.
- 1:40:43Speaker 4: If they're a top five defense, they'll have played a
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: lot of good offenses on their schedule.
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: But it's deceiving.
- 1:40:50Speaker 5: It's my point.
- 1:40:50Speaker 4: They'll play a very smart Josh Allen twice. They're gonna
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: play Aaron Rodgers twice. They're gonna play Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:40:56Speaker 7: Well, you know, pay Aaron Rodgers that was last year
- 1:40:59Speaker 7: because he sucked last year in the Packers offense.
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: He's still a smart quarter.
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: Let's go twenty seven on you.
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: The Marjacks game we're gonna play.
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: They're gonna tick overtime.
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: You know they're gonna play a lot of good offense,
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: a lot of good quarterbacks.
- 1:41:10Speaker 5: To put a banner.
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: Also took an overturn touch took Aaron Rodgers to overtime.
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: It's their number five then or top five. They're gonna
- 1:41:16Speaker 2: have earned it.
- 1:41:18Speaker 7: Yeah, I just see what happens when the games that
- 1:41:21Speaker 7: matter PBu Peppers, little pressure peppers.
- 1:41:31Speaker 6: He's all right.
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: I just feel like this. I mean, like I just said,
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: like this, they're missing two key players in the in
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: the past catching but that was like a third down,
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: fourth down type of situation and brought the pressure. It's like, well,
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: who who gets open? Like you, who are they going?
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: It's not about they're gonna be a fine offense, but
- 1:41:50Speaker 3: it's just who's that one guy that that is tough
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: to cover in those types of situations And it's on
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: the sideline when you feel like when you watch these
- 1:41:59Speaker 3: practices all spring, you just can't help but but feel
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: like like Copkins is just you're screaming for it in
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: some of these practices. Just a guy that you can
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: go to all spots.
- 1:42:11Speaker 6: So Mac Mac and that top offense and this is
- 1:42:14Speaker 6: a misfire by Zappa.
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: So it's defensive days.
- 1:42:20Speaker 7: An interesting note here, you know, just personal wise, defensively,
- 1:42:23Speaker 7: Judon was not with that group and he's out there now. Yeah,
- 1:42:26Speaker 7: that's why when I was kind of surprised that Bentley
- 1:42:28Speaker 7: was out over the slot on that play. Just yeah,
- 1:42:33Speaker 7: I know, he didn't take part in the voluntary OTAs
- 1:42:38Speaker 7: maybe coming back in a little bit slower.
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: Yeah, had a throwaway a sack, nobody opened, blow up screen.
- 1:42:47Speaker 3: That's ad pass.
- 1:42:49Speaker 6: Yeah, not a great but another example of just Steve
- 1:42:53Speaker 6: Belichick kind of spinning the wheel.
- 1:42:54Speaker 5: Where you got Jennings and and Judon coming off the
- 1:42:58Speaker 5: you know, the offensive left side.
- 1:42:59Speaker 6: I mean they're you know, they're messing around with guys
- 1:43:03Speaker 6: and you know, given different weird books and stuff.
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: Battered pass is that Perkins pass couldn't have been because Jennings.
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: Jennings has a white shirt. Yeah to right, Yeah, catched
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: by eighty six.
- 1:43:23Speaker 5: Yeah first cru you don't even have to part.
- 1:43:25Speaker 6: Your lips to say it. So I wonder too, if
- 1:43:35Speaker 6: this is supposed to be no huddle too minute kind
- 1:43:37Speaker 6: of stuff. They just can't string two plays together, so
- 1:43:40Speaker 6: they can't really get into it. Time Montgomery with an
- 1:43:43Speaker 6: actual catch, but seven.
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: Late in the down. I think we're gonna need batteries
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: for Fred.
- 1:43:52Speaker 5: I think as Mike is off right at the best
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: part too.
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: You got there, you go, Zappy? Oh, just played by
- 1:44:09Speaker 3: the cover. The coverage has been pretty good.
- 1:44:11Speaker 7: Yeah, in these two periods, these two these two uh
- 1:44:15Speaker 7: sets of playa there is thank goodness spread he's back.
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: Batteries go fast?
- 1:44:20Speaker 5: Huh did you.
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:44:29Speaker 5: Missing key on white today?
- 1:44:36Speaker 2: Any idea of what his deal is.
- 1:44:38Speaker 6: It's always bizarre when a guy talks after practice seems
- 1:44:41Speaker 6: totally fine and he's just not out here the next day.
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: It's strange. Yeah. Oh, trips bunch, classic Bill O'Brien, trips bunch,
- 1:44:57Speaker 3: right there.
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: Zappy had a with that that wasn't a design run,
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: was it?
- 1:45:01Speaker 7: No?
- 1:45:02Speaker 5: No, mean, that's why an opportunity system.
- 1:45:07Speaker 6: Yes, it's uh sixty four, uh sixty three, sixty five
- 1:45:16Speaker 6: sixty two.
- 1:45:19Speaker 5: In a fifthur.
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: Let me give gonz a PB.
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: Yeah, Gonzales close fast on that pass. The guy was
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: open and then he wasn't open.
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: Basically the same script as as max sequence with before
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: the field zero bullets seventy four stuba right, stuba high
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: seventy four reef.
- 1:45:40Speaker 6: Wow, I don't think he just walked out, all right,
- 1:45:42Speaker 6: so that might it might have been sixty seventy four
- 1:45:44Speaker 6: in set of sixty four left tackle.
- 1:45:45Speaker 3: Then okay, all right, looks like the ones are back
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: in inside it though. Yeah, yeah, same group as they're
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: going the same direction. Defense is right.
- 1:45:58Speaker 5: All right, here we got this, but this was ZAPPI.
- 1:46:00Speaker 5: So Zappy's getting some one snap.
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: Yep. Get he's got a little work I.
- 1:46:07Speaker 7: Think more I think a lore yep than than he
- 1:46:10Speaker 7: has in previous practice.
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: That's a that's a there was a rare guy open in.
- 1:46:20Speaker 7: These two sets that I think that was get sick sick,
- 1:46:25Speaker 7: sicky cats bro.
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: Nobody had the hook? Are we doing the hook? The hook?
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: It's the hook.
- 1:46:35Speaker 6: It's a sin man, it's a sin Yeah. Now we
- 1:46:37Speaker 6: got Sam Roberts in there. Uh, it's just interested to
- 1:46:40Speaker 6: watch him. Second year guy didn't really do much last year.
- 1:46:43Speaker 6: But with guy out, he's really one of the only
- 1:46:45Speaker 6: new faces that potentially could maybe give you some replacement value.
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: So he's in for Uh. I think they took a
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: quality out and they slid bar more over to the
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: right side and.
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: That once he's in for.
- 1:47:04Speaker 2: Tetrich tech teachers.
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: Sorry, yeah, but that's you know, Robert's opportunity.
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: Maybe he can take it.
- 1:47:22Speaker 3: This is the first day that that we've seen Zappy
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: get some extended work with David Andrews if you.
- 1:47:28Speaker 7: Wanted, if you wanted to say there's a competition, today's
- 1:47:31Speaker 7: the first day that would back that up.
- 1:47:33Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, and Mac is you know, and I'm sure
- 1:47:36Speaker 3: your shows will Yeah, Max's way back.
- 1:47:39Speaker 7: Now, that was the proper use of my shows because
- 1:47:42Speaker 7: Mike and Tony will be all of that. Of course
- 1:47:48Speaker 7: they probably won't know about that because they'll be too
- 1:47:50Speaker 7: busy getting breathless stat updates.
- 1:47:54Speaker 6: Well, I don't even think the stats are gonna look
- 1:47:56Speaker 6: that great for Mac today, no matter how they cut
- 1:48:01Speaker 6: them up.
- 1:48:02Speaker 3: No, so getting mafia. Look now, at Right Guard, I
- 1:48:09Speaker 3: had some seven on seven. You know, we're talking about
- 1:48:11Speaker 3: those fades and stuff, but when they get into these
- 1:48:14Speaker 3: team drills, it just seems like there's just nothing down
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: the field.
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that would that would have been broken.
- 1:48:20Speaker 5: And then there's no routes though.
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all defense is coming here. You're uh, they're
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: sending the heat when when Hopkins is business.
- 1:48:30Speaker 6: Yeah, I know, don't let them leave, that's what you
- 1:48:33Speaker 6: weren't here yet Evan though, And that was the point
- 1:48:35Speaker 6: I made at the top of the show. It's just
- 1:48:36Speaker 6: without Thornton, without Juju, it's really just Kasicki and Bill
- 1:48:40Speaker 6: O'Brien are the only new elements were looking at at
- 1:48:42Speaker 6: the offense right now. And you know it's your point,
- 1:48:45Speaker 6: that's it's kind of all your speed and playmakers. If
- 1:48:47Speaker 6: you were to have you know, Juju and Thornton and
- 1:48:49Speaker 6: Hopkins like, it wouldn't be that hard for ant of
- 1:48:52Speaker 6: us to just see those three guys supped in as
- 1:48:54Speaker 6: the three receivers right now.
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: For the three that are out there, two that are
- 1:48:57Speaker 3: out there, I just think that you you know, Parker
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: is obviously a contested catch guy, and then Born and
- 1:49:04Speaker 3: the tight ends they're gonna just want to work the
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: middle of the field, and that that intermediate level and
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: the defense know is just all over it right now.
- 1:49:13Speaker 3: There's just no there's no threat of anybody going up
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: the field. Really some of these plays.
- 1:49:19Speaker 6: This is the perfect practice they needed the day before
- 1:49:21Speaker 6: de hop comes. But I gotta say to one other
- 1:49:26Speaker 6: one other thing to highlight it's just between the rookies
- 1:49:30Speaker 6: and the options that they have at right guard I
- 1:49:32Speaker 6: really wonder, like if Michael and when you becomes back
- 1:49:35Speaker 6: and he's healthy, is that a move they try to
- 1:49:38Speaker 6: make somebody needs a guard. He's one of the only
- 1:49:41Speaker 6: guys on the roster you might be able to spin
- 1:49:44Speaker 6: and get some value for. But what do you what
- 1:49:48Speaker 6: are you looking to get any now, I don't know.
- 1:49:51Speaker 7: Player, maybe a lot because I think you, I mean,
- 1:49:55Speaker 7: I think you'd probably get are Yeah at best, I mean, yeah,
- 1:50:01Speaker 7: I'm not.
- 1:50:01Speaker 5: I think he's more valuable to you. Yeah.
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: Well, I just think also, if we're not sure about
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: Trent Brown, I wouldn't I wouldn't mess it up too much.
- 1:50:10Speaker 5: Tail. That's a good point.
- 1:50:14Speaker 7: I think what you have to hope is they drafted
- 1:50:17Speaker 7: three offensive linemen. Can one or two of them play
- 1:50:22Speaker 7: next year? That's I mean, that would be ideal. So
- 1:50:25Speaker 7: then you let it, let it when you play, and
- 1:50:27Speaker 7: then you feel fine letting him walk away because Antonio Maffi.
- 1:50:30Speaker 5: Can step right in and play next year.
- 1:50:32Speaker 6: You know, Oh, you wonder if maybe you draft the
- 1:50:37Speaker 6: left tackle next year, and then you know, it's just
- 1:50:40Speaker 6: cold strange.
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: Jake Andrews.
- 1:50:42Speaker 6: Yeah, and all of a sudden, Mafi and so are
- 1:50:44Speaker 6: the media of your line they're all in their first
- 1:50:47Speaker 6: three years of the league.
- 1:50:50Speaker 7: You get some of the Uherson there now with the
- 1:50:53Speaker 7: Chase McSorley, But still I think the defense is like
- 1:50:57Speaker 7: all over that.
- 1:50:58Speaker 5: Yeah, they're too good not letting us.
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: Is that Mapu out there fifty five yeah, fifty two,
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: fifty two, Yeah, playing safety? So I need monocular Yeah,
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: he was a.
- 1:51:10Speaker 5: Lot less noticeable today.
- 1:51:12Speaker 3: Maybe he's been reading. He's been reading Patriots dot com. Yeah, Bill,
- 1:51:16Speaker 3: I mean reading too much. Patrios dot Com. Put an
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: end to that.
- 1:51:18Speaker 5: Well, like I said, those high level reps, it was
- 1:51:21Speaker 5: Andrews was the only rookie out there on the oppensive
- 1:51:23Speaker 5: side of the ball and nobody on defense.
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: Yeah, boy, oh boy, Defense's day.
- 1:51:33Speaker 5: Paul, you used that headline yesterday.
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:51:36Speaker 5: Part deh.
- 1:51:39Speaker 3: Well.
- 1:51:39Speaker 7: Part of the reason I did it that way is
- 1:51:41Speaker 7: because I knew Evan was writing about the offense, and
- 1:51:44Speaker 7: I knew you were writing about the rookies.
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: So I didn't want to have like duplicate headlines.
- 1:51:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you would be fair as I've bashed the
- 1:51:52Speaker 3: offense for the past ten minutes. You this defense has
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: been together. I mean, this is a group that's been
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: together there's no coaching turnover, say should be like.
- 1:52:00Speaker 7: This, especially in a passing camp where your secondary is
- 1:52:04Speaker 7: in particular. I mean, yes, you're you're implementing Christian Gonzales.
- 1:52:07Speaker 7: But those safeties have been together for two and three
- 1:52:10Speaker 7: years now, Phillips, Duggar, Peppers now two years.
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: Even Bledsoe has been around. This is his third season
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: in the system.
- 1:52:18Speaker 7: Yeah, with Jack Jones second year, Jonathan Jones been around
- 1:52:21Speaker 7: for whatever.
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: Right, and you know Gerond and Steve still running it.
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: So I would be more concerned if it was the
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: other way around. That's a good point. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: still early on in the whole Bill O'Brien thing, and
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: you don't have Juju or Taekwon. So there you go.
- 1:52:37Speaker 3: I just talked myself and lost Devin mccordy though we're
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: back on Pitches dot Com Radio.
- 1:52:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that's significant.
- 1:52:47Speaker 6: But I'd say I think I I mean, I kind
- 1:52:49Speaker 6: of felt the same way about the DMAC thing the
- 1:52:51Speaker 6: whole time. They're not gonna, like specifically go out and
- 1:52:53Speaker 6: get a specific free safety. They're gonna roll with what
- 1:52:55Speaker 6: they have. They're gonna use Miles Brian a little bit. Probably,
- 1:52:58Speaker 6: they're gonna use Jonathan Jones a little bit in that
- 1:53:00Speaker 6: free safety role at times, and I think they're just
- 1:53:02Speaker 6: gonna try to roll with Dugger and Peppers and Phillips.
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: I have the same question about them defensively, though to
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: an extent, because it's one of those things where like
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: Belichick and the Belichicks, I guess we can call it
- 1:53:15Speaker 3: and Jerrod can. They can smoke and mirrors and they
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: can disguise, and they can rotate all they want, but
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: at the end of the day, it's going to be
- 1:53:21Speaker 3: third and eight. The Bills are going to get to
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: the line of scrimmage and you're gonna have to get
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: off the field. And how much of that type of
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: stuff is really going to matter when you're going up
- 1:53:29Speaker 3: against you know, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen And that.
- 1:53:33Speaker 7: Was the stuff I'm talking about With the whole top
- 1:53:34Speaker 7: five thing, I think you could be a top five
- 1:53:36Speaker 7: defense in this league and still be at a grave
- 1:53:40Speaker 7: disadvantage right against those good teams and crunch times.
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: That's just still my concern with their roster. After watching
- 1:53:47Speaker 3: you know now that there's a possibility this might be
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: the last practice we see in the spring. I think
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: that though the roster is fine, you know, one through
- 1:53:55Speaker 3: fifty three, but that that top high end talent. There
- 1:54:00Speaker 3: are some guys that have been showing some flash, some
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: of the younger guys and last couple of draft classes.
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: But at the end of the day, it's going to
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: come down to when the chips are on the table
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: and it's our best versus your best, and I still
- 1:54:13Speaker 3: think they have some questions on whether or not their
- 1:54:15Speaker 3: best is going to be better than everybody else's.
- 1:54:17Speaker 2: That was somebody did something.
- 1:54:18Speaker 5: Yea Anthony Jennings got to jump on the edge rush there.
- 1:54:22Speaker 5: Ye yeah, Bill O'Brien not happy.
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: I gotta what are we doing?
- 1:54:25Speaker 5: I don't know who he was yelling at, but yeah.
- 1:54:27Speaker 7: Probably Jennings because he was about eight steps ahead of
- 1:54:29Speaker 7: the smack snapcount.
- 1:54:34Speaker 6: Some Mac chilling with Bourn during that, so he hasn't
- 1:54:38Speaker 6: been an island the whole time.
- 1:54:39Speaker 2: It's like we're getting some of the starters out there
- 1:54:41Speaker 2: again for defense.
- 1:54:49Speaker 3: This is Mac at quarterback.
- 1:54:51Speaker 2: Assume Mac is back in.
- 1:54:55Speaker 5: The good old Matthew's BA.
- 1:54:57Speaker 3: Got some Antonio Maffi reps that left guard, so still
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: it right tackle and seen in some of these these
- 1:55:12Speaker 3: three deep across shells and the kind of rotating into
- 1:55:16Speaker 3: different spots from it, which is interesting.
- 1:55:18Speaker 7: I don't want to say this like it like it's
- 1:55:19Speaker 7: a big thing, but that looked awfully twenty twenty two
- 1:55:22Speaker 7: esque that play. There were two guys in the same
- 1:55:24Speaker 7: spot on the sideline. It looked like you over torew
- 1:55:28Speaker 7: a running back and a tight end end up diving
- 1:55:30Speaker 7: and catching it.
- 1:55:30Speaker 3: On the sideline.
- 1:55:43Speaker 2: Quick pass.
- 1:55:45Speaker 3: It looked Okay, it's my guy, strong, look it's strong.
- 1:55:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't I I agree, Paul. I've gotten some
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: twenty twenty two bots from today.
- 1:55:55Speaker 6: A little bit with the offense, that's all.
- 1:55:59Speaker 7: But the the road constant. Someone did something wrong on that.
- 1:56:02Speaker 7: But there's no way those two guys are.
- 1:56:03Speaker 3: Supposed to be in the same speed.
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: Generally, it's a lot of checks downs, a lot of
- 1:56:07Speaker 5: just you know, well, I think that passed.
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: That's but that's gonna be. That's going to be the offense.
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: I mean, I think that's what Bill likes to do,
- 1:56:14Speaker 3: Bill O'Brien, and I think that caters to his quarterback too.
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: I don't think.
- 1:56:18Speaker 7: I don't think you can do what they tried to
- 1:56:20Speaker 7: do with Mac Jones last year and just say let's
- 1:56:23Speaker 7: just rip, let it rip, drive it down the field.
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: Consistently, kids, take what's there. Be decisive, be quick, little,
- 1:56:30Speaker 3: you know, take what they give you, sit rosal option
- 1:56:33Speaker 3: routes underneath, you know, find the soft spots, clear it
- 1:56:37Speaker 3: out and run it underneath like that. That's Bill O'Brien, like,
- 1:56:40Speaker 3: that's that's what he did, and he's done for ten years.
- 1:56:44Speaker 3: What the offense looked like with Brady mac some audibling.
- 1:56:52Speaker 3: I like to see that. Yeah, I think there's that's
- 1:56:55Speaker 3: one thing that I think we have noticed as a
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: positive that there certainly has been at a little bit
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: more of that direction at the line of scrimmage from
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: mac already, where it's not just for you're gonna get
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: up to the line and just run whatever we called
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: h There there's a little bit of adjustments going on,
- 1:57:09Speaker 3: and even you know yesterday with some of those completions
- 1:57:12Speaker 3: he had against the Blitz late in practice, you see
- 1:57:14Speaker 3: a little bit more of that every day. A lot
- 1:57:18Speaker 3: of Pierre Strong woman's practice.
- 1:57:20Speaker 5: Yeah, comes with a good time though certainly.
- 1:57:27Speaker 6: It's like we see the opportunities that arising for some
- 1:57:30Speaker 6: of these guys, Sam Roberts, Pierre Strong just based on
- 1:57:32Speaker 6: health cuts all that stuff, and they've got to be
- 1:57:34Speaker 6: aware of it.
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: Yeah, big play here, third and five zero. Rally Webb
- 1:57:40Speaker 3: is his number one receiver, and you.
- 1:57:43Speaker 7: Got Soca underneath. They're gonna give him the first down.
- 1:57:47Speaker 7: I'm not sure he would have had it, says here
- 1:57:50Speaker 7: in the card. Oh no, I think he's calling fourth down,
- 1:57:52Speaker 7: fourth down, fourth down.
- 1:57:54Speaker 3: This says Rally Webb. Matt Sokele. Yeah, I think Trey
- 1:57:59Speaker 3: Nixon was in there.
- 1:58:00Speaker 7: Trying to stick, say first and ten, but I thought
- 1:58:02Speaker 7: the uh, the ball placement. I thought he indicated forth down,
- 1:58:06Speaker 7: but perk.
- 1:58:08Speaker 3: Skurt, Sure, how do you do that? It's back in
- 1:58:16Speaker 3: the throat. I beg your pardon.
- 1:58:19Speaker 6: I feel like, what's his face? The Fox guy, Frank
- 1:58:22Speaker 6: Kelly Endo, you know SoC the SoCal show, say, gronk.
- 1:58:28Speaker 5: Out there in eighty seven.
- 1:58:29Speaker 2: A lot of quick passes. They've given up on those
- 1:58:32Speaker 2: longer routes.
- 1:58:32Speaker 3: Oh, Judon tied up with somebody.
- 1:58:40Speaker 5: They're being silly.
- 1:58:41Speaker 7: No, they were being silly. But but Jennings came over
- 1:58:44Speaker 7: and chewed on and chasing Hines. I think I think
- 1:58:47Speaker 7: he might have been stuck. Yeah, seriously, it's like a
- 1:58:50Speaker 7: face mask. Yeah, I'm not sure exactly what happened.
- 1:58:56Speaker 2: Man didn't look like it was heated.
- 1:59:00Speaker 3: No, no, no, I don't think some huh rpo perhaps, yeah,
- 1:59:15Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 1:59:17Speaker 7: But I did think that Jenny's might have thought there
- 1:59:19Speaker 7: was something going on and he kind of came over
- 1:59:21Speaker 7: and they.
- 1:59:22Speaker 3: Just he left and he's on the sideline now, huh
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: on a knee.
- 1:59:30Speaker 5: All right, Mac is dehelmeted.
- 1:59:33Speaker 2: All right, that's gonna be it.
- 1:59:36Speaker 3: There.

- 1:59:38Speaker 4: They're going into some special team stuff, which we'll leave
