- 0:28Speaker 2: Release.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Do you remember anything from living there?
- 0:33Speaker 2: I don't.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I was two and a half when we when we
- 0:37Speaker 3: moved out of there, So my parents said, I was
- 0:39Speaker 3: running around a bunch and tried to jump off one
- 0:41Speaker 3: of the military folks into the ocean. So thankfully they
- 0:46Speaker 3: caught me.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Nah, you was a wild, a little through your already.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Oh no, for sure. Second, when basketball was your second
- 0:55Speaker 1: best sport in high school? You was a trisport athlete
- 0:58Speaker 1: in high school football, track and basketball. That is released. Yeah,
- 1:04Speaker 1: did you ever want to pursue track? I did?
- 1:07Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:08Speaker 3: Actually know a lot of people don't know this, but
- 1:09Speaker 3: I actually ran track in college before I ever played football.
- 1:12Speaker 3: So I graduated early and then ran track in the spring,
- 1:17Speaker 3: went to the I won the Big Twelve Championships, won regionals,
- 1:20Speaker 3: and got third at nationals. Went to the Olympic Trials
- 1:23Speaker 3: in two thousand, two thousand and eight, and got eleventh
- 1:26Speaker 3: at the Olympic Trials as an eighteen year old. So
- 1:29Speaker 3: I definitely thought about it.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Okay, okay, what you ran?
- 1:33Speaker 2: I ran a four hund hurdles.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I'm actually the fastest seventeen year old ever in the
- 1:37Speaker 3: history of the world, and the foreigner hurdles ran forty
- 1:40Speaker 3: nine twenty one.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Hey, we got to pull it up in the world. Yeah,
- 1:50Speaker 1: all right, Oh, we got two more for you. Press
- 1:53Speaker 1: or release. Your favorite superhero is spider Man.
- 1:57Speaker 3: That's a press My favorite superhero is the Incredible Hawk.
- 2:01Speaker 3: And I've been very upset with Marvel that they made
- 2:03Speaker 3: him look so weak against Thanos, just getting tossed around
- 2:08Speaker 3: like crazy.
- 2:09Speaker 1: So my favorite you're a Marvel movie guy.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Yeah, man, youan, I think I think, uh, you know
- 2:15Speaker 3: me and you we should get a role in Marvel.
- 2:18Speaker 2: We need some more black superheroes, do you feel me?
- 2:20Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Yes, I think fun that'll be lit up. That'll be
- 2:26Speaker 1: lit up for sure. Presser release. You were recruited by
- 2:30Speaker 1: Texas to play wide out.
- 2:33Speaker 3: That is a release they offered me as an athlete
- 2:37Speaker 3: wide receiver or safety. And then, uh, little known fact,
- 2:42Speaker 3: Mac Brown after my freshman year when we played them
- 2:46Speaker 3: at Texas walked to me in the middle of the
- 2:49Speaker 3: field and offered me a scholarship to transfer to Texas.
- 2:52Speaker 3: This is before the transfer portal debo. So he he
- 2:55Speaker 3: wanted me to set out two years and come to
- 2:58Speaker 3: Texas and be his quarterback after he saw us play.
- 3:00Speaker 3: But you know, we decided to just go ahead and
- 3:02Speaker 3: beat the butt for the next couple of years at Bayleord.
- 3:05Speaker 1: What made you choose Baylor?
- 3:08Speaker 3: Uh, it was faith, you know, my my mom, you
- 3:11Speaker 3: know Christian, My mom wanted me to go to Baylor.
- 3:13Speaker 3: It was closer to home, about an hour away. But
- 3:16Speaker 3: you know, ultimately I was offered a walk on scholarship
- 3:20Speaker 3: by Baylor as a four star recruit by Guy Morris
- 3:23Speaker 3: rest his soul passed away recently, so I committed to Houston.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I was gonna play basketball, run track, and play football.
- 3:30Speaker 3: And then our brows, my coach, got the job at Baylor,
- 3:35Speaker 3: took me from Houston with him to Baylor, and the.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Rest is history.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Definitely the history.
- 3:41Speaker 2: That was his recruiting pitch debo.
- 3:43Speaker 3: His recruiting pitch was, are you gonna come to Baylor
- 3:45Speaker 3: and we're gonna do something that's never been done before.
- 3:48Speaker 3: And he said in four years, he said, in three years,
- 3:50Speaker 3: you're gonna be in the running for the Heisman, And
- 3:52Speaker 3: he was spot on. In three years we were, and
- 3:54Speaker 3: in the fourth year we wanted.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I had a good team out there. Who was some
- 3:58Speaker 1: teammates you play with.
- 4:00Speaker 3: You already know all these awards don't come by themselves.
- 4:02Speaker 3: So wide receiver, I had Kendall Wright. He was a
- 4:05Speaker 3: first round pick, you know for the Tennessee Titans. You know,
- 4:08Speaker 3: I've never seen a guy run better when the ball
- 4:12Speaker 3: is in the air, you know, kind of like you
- 4:13Speaker 3: like when the ball's in the air, you you find
- 4:16Speaker 3: a way to get there, regardless of what your forty
- 4:18Speaker 3: time is, different type of speed, So I had him.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I had Terrence Williams as a receiver for the Cowboys.
- 4:24Speaker 3: He's a third round pick. I had Josh Gordon. I know,
- 4:28Speaker 3: you remember that guy. So we had Josh as a
- 4:31Speaker 3: freshman and he was unbelievable. He ended up getting kicked
- 4:35Speaker 3: out for the same reasons he got kicked out of
- 4:37Speaker 3: the league as a freshman from Baylor. Uh you know, imagine,
- 4:40Speaker 3: you know, smoking weed and doing all that stuff at
- 4:42Speaker 3: at a Christian university. You know, they front upon those things.
- 4:46Speaker 3: So we had some great players, had some great offensive lineman.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Danny Watkins was a Canadian who played football for two years,
- 4:51Speaker 3: ended up being a first round pick guard for the Eagles.
- 4:55Speaker 3: H Jason Smith was the second pick overall by the
- 4:57Speaker 3: Rams after my my freshman year Baylor.
- 5:00Speaker 2: So you have some we have some ballers, man, guys,
- 5:04Speaker 2: we have some.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Guys, Yeah, for sure. Now we're going to play another
- 5:07Speaker 1: game called guest the Performance. We're gonna show you a
- 5:09Speaker 1: picture of your game cleats, and you're gonna have to
- 5:12Speaker 1: guess the stat line.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:14Speaker 1: And if you can't guess the stat line, I have
- 5:16Speaker 1: three hints for you that can help.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, I can I can use the context clues.
- 5:24Speaker 3: That's against the Cowboys.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Dang, I don't even know that line.
- 5:31Speaker 3: I mean two touchdowns, I got, I got some hints.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I got some hints for you.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Okay, give men all right.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Game was played three days after Christmas. Okay career high
- 5:43Speaker 1: in passing yards in the game.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Career high in passing yards in a game.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Okay, so opposed to thirty seven three, thirty six, okay,
- 5:55Speaker 1: thirty six?
- 5:56Speaker 2: All right? Quarterback was uh Godlee? Was it? Tony Romo?
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah? That was That was one of your hints. Who's
- 6:09Speaker 1: trying to go, We're trying to help you get your
- 6:11Speaker 1: your passing yards touchdown the interceptions.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Yeah, that's bad.
- 6:15Speaker 3: See you see the career high at the pass of
- 6:17Speaker 3: the yards with the two picks.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I hate that.
- 6:19Speaker 1: That's why. What was it like playing against the Cowboys
- 6:27Speaker 1: back in the day? We say back in the day
- 6:30Speaker 1: years ago?
- 6:31Speaker 3: I know, bro, but it feels like forever ago. This
- 6:34Speaker 3: twenty twenty five, that's eleven years ago. The Cowboys in
- 6:40Speaker 3: the at the time as the Redskins. Now it is
- 6:42Speaker 3: the Commanders, like one of the greatest robberies in all sports.
- 6:44Speaker 3: So like when you step foot into that, you already know,
- 6:47Speaker 3: like there's nothing like Cowboy week when you play for
- 6:49Speaker 3: the Commanders, and I know you felt that. You know
- 6:52Speaker 3: since you've been there as well the fans. You can win.
- 6:55Speaker 3: You could lose every game. If you beat the Cowboys twice,
- 6:57Speaker 3: it might be happy. Now you might not be happy.
- 7:00Speaker 3: But the fans would be like, yes, we got one on.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Them for sure. What do you remember playing against that
- 7:05Speaker 1: defense with DeMarcus Lawrence?
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think that year DeMarcus Lawrence was there,
- 7:12Speaker 3: So I don't think DeMarcus ware was there anymore.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Uh.
- 7:16Speaker 3: But Lawrence was a guy like freakish athlete, got the size,
- 7:21Speaker 3: the speed off the edge. You know, we did a lot,
- 7:23Speaker 3: we did a lot of zone read type concepts, and
- 7:25Speaker 3: he was the guy that was tough to do that
- 7:27Speaker 3: against because he would tackle both of us, you know,
- 7:30Speaker 3: me and the running back. Instead of like trying to
- 7:32Speaker 3: pick one, he would pick both. And those guys are
- 7:34Speaker 3: very rare. Yeah, I said, those guys are very rare,
- 7:39Speaker 3: The Max Crosbies of the world, the Miles Garrets of
- 7:41Speaker 3: the world.
- 7:41Speaker 2: They can pick both.
- 7:42Speaker 3: And you don't really want to be sitting there as
- 7:44Speaker 3: a quarterback deadfoot reading them too often because they'll just
- 7:49Speaker 3: close blankey.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Like it's w W no. For sure, let's see picture two.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Oh gonna say a that is.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Is that if you need Thanksgiving twenty twelve Thanksgiving, okay,
- 8:08Speaker 3: stat line. Stat line was another three hundred yard game.
- 8:11Speaker 3: I think it was three twenty three twenty three or four?
- 8:15Speaker 3: Was it three and one?
- 8:17Speaker 2: Three testdowns? One pick two, four and one? I'm cutting
- 8:20Speaker 2: myself day? Is cut myself short a little bit?
- 8:27Speaker 1: Oh man, you are two and two versus Tony Roemore
- 8:30Speaker 1: in your career. What do you mean about facing him?
- 8:34Speaker 3: Tony was always a scrappy player, you know, like today
- 8:38Speaker 3: you got the Baker Mayfields, the Sam Darnold's, uh those
- 8:42Speaker 3: guys that you know, brock Perty you know as you
- 8:45Speaker 3: know that can move around a little bit.
- 8:47Speaker 2: They got moxie. That was Tony.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Like you always knew the Cowboys were going to be
- 8:50Speaker 3: in most games that they played because of his ability
- 8:53Speaker 3: to escape. I had a great moment with Tony after
- 8:57Speaker 3: not this game, but it was the game later in
- 9:00Speaker 3: that same year when we beat them to go to
- 9:02Speaker 3: the playoffs, and he had been getting killed by the
- 9:05Speaker 3: media like he's not a quarterback, he's remember that. So
- 9:08Speaker 3: like after the game I talked to him and here
- 9:10Speaker 3: I am as a rookie, not really knowing what to
- 9:12Speaker 3: say or not to say, and I was like, hey, Tony, man,
- 9:14Speaker 3: I just want you to know you're a much better
- 9:16Speaker 3: quarterback than they say you are. And the way he
- 9:19Speaker 3: looked at me, was like, what is this rookie talking about? Like,
- 9:23Speaker 3: I'm just trying to you and I know, I know
- 9:26Speaker 3: how hard it is to play the position.
- 9:27Speaker 2: But it was fun.
- 9:28Speaker 3: It was fun to play against him and you know,
- 9:30Speaker 3: not basically be competitors in the booth calling games now
- 9:34Speaker 3: it's pretty fun.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. Final picture.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Ooh, we got the brace on, so this gotta be
- 9:43Speaker 2: oh for you. That's gonna be thirteen twenty thirteen. What's
- 9:49Speaker 2: the hen.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Santana Moss was your wide receiver? One?
- 9:55Speaker 2: Okay Moss, I definitely need another one.
- 10:00Speaker 1: High passing attempts in this game.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Fifty passing, fifty passing attempts? Sheesh? Is this against the Packers?
- 10:11Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford was the quarterback. You win again?
- 10:14Speaker 2: Detroit Lions, Detroit Lions.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Okay there, yep, all right, Stephan.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I had fifty passing attemps against the Lions. God dang
- 10:22Speaker 3: fifty that I got hit a lot in this game.
- 10:24Speaker 3: I remember that they had zig Ziggy Yanza the d
- 10:27Speaker 3: n So. Fifty pass attempts. I'm gonna say to eighty passing,
- 10:32Speaker 3: stop shorting yourself, okay? Three three twenty passing.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Three twenty six, twenty six Okay, zero tugs, no touchdowns.
- 10:43Speaker 2: One pick Detroit Lions.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Man, I don't even said Matthew Stafford.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Arm talent, arm talent, Like he got the same arm
- 10:55Speaker 3: talent today that he had in twenty thirteen and that game.
- 11:00Speaker 2: And he's thirty seventy. Bro, Like that's man, that's tough.
- 11:04Speaker 1: He can throw.
- 11:05Speaker 3: He can throw it off platform, on platform, in rhythm,
- 11:08Speaker 3: off rhythm, on the run, off his back foot, no
- 11:11Speaker 3: look passes. That's that's the one thing we got to
- 11:14Speaker 3: be better about with Matthew Stafford. We love Patrick Mahomes
- 11:18Speaker 3: and what he's been able to do, and I do
- 11:19Speaker 3: think he'll eventually be the greatest quarterback of all time.
- 11:21Speaker 3: But Stafford is the one who really originated the no
- 11:26Speaker 3: look past and does it at least five times a game.
- 11:29Speaker 2: So I got a lot of.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Played against him. Man, I played against him.
- 11:34Speaker 2: What's your experience like with him?
- 11:37Speaker 1: You know? Like I just said, we was just talking
- 11:39Speaker 1: about NFC Championship game. Man, he was just bro. He
- 11:44Speaker 1: was throwing some he was doing some throws that I'm
- 11:48Speaker 1: bro like, somebody second do something like It's just he's
- 11:51Speaker 1: just he's never rattled, like he's comfortable, like you just said, man,
- 11:55Speaker 1: he can make every throw his orange strength crazy and
- 11:58Speaker 1: you could just see what he's still doing now with
- 11:59Speaker 1: him and Davonte and Puka and the rest of those guys.
- 12:02Speaker 1: They played real good ball right now.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Yeah, dangerous, very dangerous.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Definitely is a right. Speaking of performance, you had a
- 12:08Speaker 1: great rookie year. What you remember the most about that year?
- 12:13Speaker 3: What I remember the most was having the best left
- 12:15Speaker 3: tackle in the history of football, you know what I'm saying.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Like Trent, we call him the silver back, and when
- 12:22Speaker 3: I came into the locker room, you know, it was him,
- 12:25Speaker 3: London Fletcher, Santana Moss. We had Chris Cooley at the
- 12:30Speaker 3: time at tight end, and I just there's a bunch
- 12:33Speaker 3: of vets there who really just wanted you to earn it,
- 12:37Speaker 3: you know what I mean. They were ready to win,
- 12:40Speaker 3: team had won in a few years, and I just
- 12:43Speaker 3: wanted to prove to those guys that I was worthy
- 12:44Speaker 3: of being their quarterback.
- 12:46Speaker 2: So that's what I remember most.
- 12:49Speaker 3: And then we went on a run to win the
- 12:51Speaker 3: division after starting three and six one seventh straight. So
- 12:55Speaker 3: that was just a truly roller coaster ride of a
- 12:57Speaker 3: rookie year that turned into pretty much a diamond.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yeah for sure. What did you like the most about
- 13:03Speaker 1: the team that year when y'all when you led the
- 13:05Speaker 1: team to the title.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Yeah, just like the energy.
- 13:09Speaker 3: You know you you felt this, you know at time
- 13:13Speaker 3: start your career, like every fan is gonna every player
- 13:16Speaker 3: is gonna say, Man, our fan base is the best
- 13:17Speaker 3: in the world, and especially when you win in right,
- 13:20Speaker 3: but in DC, Like there is something special about winning
- 13:24Speaker 3: in Washington, d c uh to the point where your
- 13:27Speaker 3: team when you go to the mall, like everybody's drake,
- 13:31Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying.
- 13:32Speaker 2: That year we would go to the mall.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I go to the mall with Trent and my receivers,
- 13:35Speaker 3: whether it be Santana Leon or Hankerson, Pierre Garsoon, and
- 13:38Speaker 3: as soon as we stepped foot out the car, it
- 13:40Speaker 3: was like all the fans were there. And and this
- 13:44Speaker 3: wasn't a time when you were telling people where you
- 13:45Speaker 3: were at, but they just like facial recognition, the want
- 13:50Speaker 3: to to be around the guys. It was truly a
- 13:53Speaker 3: special feeling. I remember one time we went to the
- 13:55Speaker 3: mall and it was like it was me and seven
- 13:58Speaker 3: other teammates.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Pierre Trent was there. We had a bunch of D'Angelo Hall.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Our corner was there with us, and there was like
- 14:08Speaker 3: at least three thousand people in the mall, all following
- 14:11Speaker 3: us from store to store. It was a truly unique experience.
- 14:15Speaker 3: And you know, when you went in DC, the fans
- 14:18Speaker 3: love you. They love you more than the president of
- 14:20Speaker 3: the United States, and like that's that's the crazy part
- 14:23Speaker 3: about it. I really enjoyed that. With the team winning
- 14:28Speaker 3: on the field and then seeing everybody win off the
- 14:31Speaker 3: field was really cool for show.
- 14:34Speaker 1: For show. Kirk Cousins was drafted the same year you
- 14:36Speaker 1: was in DC as well. Yep, what was the quarterback
- 14:38Speaker 1: room like with him in it? Yeah?
- 14:41Speaker 3: See, like people think, some people think like me and
- 14:43Speaker 3: Kirk had beef or something like that, and we didn't.
- 14:46Speaker 3: You know what, we did have some beef. The beef
- 14:48Speaker 3: that we had was a Chipotle burrito in Rookie Mini Camp.
- 14:52Speaker 3: We came in and they had us room together, and
- 14:55Speaker 3: for some reason, we ordered two burritos from Chipotle, but
- 14:58Speaker 3: they only gave us one.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Okay, so we cut.
- 15:02Speaker 2: It ship out. So we cut the burrito in half
- 15:09Speaker 2: and we share. We shared the burrito. We have the burrito.
- 15:12Speaker 2: I'm very.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Proud of Kirk for what he's been able to accomplish.
- 15:17Speaker 3: I know a lot of people knock him saying like
- 15:20Speaker 3: he hadn't won the big games, and he hasn't done this.
- 15:22Speaker 2: He does, hasn't done that.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But for what he has done in his career and
- 15:25Speaker 3: how he's changed his family's life, I'm very happy for him.
- 15:28Speaker 3: He's I think he's made like some of the most
- 15:31Speaker 3: money of any quarterback UH in NFL history, and he's
- 15:35Speaker 3: you know, played on a couple of different teams, but
- 15:38Speaker 3: he's been the leader, and he's had a long career.
- 15:40Speaker 3: You know, injuries shortened my career, and I know he
- 15:43Speaker 3: had an injury a few years ago that that looks
- 15:45Speaker 3: like it might, you know, wipe out the back half
- 15:47Speaker 3: of his But I'm very proud for him, proud of
- 15:49Speaker 3: his uh, you know, happy for his family that he's
- 15:51Speaker 3: able to change their lives in the way that he has,
- 15:53Speaker 3: UH and continue to get back to the game of football.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. Speaking of Kirk, he took over the
- 15:59Speaker 1: game for you the day injury in twenty thirteen playoffs.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Did you feel, I mean, how did you feel leading
- 16:05Speaker 1: up to that game?
- 16:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I was pretty banged up going into
- 16:10Speaker 3: that game we had. It had been a few weeks
- 16:12Speaker 3: because I originally hurt myself against the Baltimore Ravens with
- 16:16Speaker 3: Helodinada hitting me and tearing my l CL, and then
- 16:21Speaker 3: in that game I tore my ACL against the Seahawks.
- 16:24Speaker 3: But going into it, I felt okay, and I tweaked
- 16:26Speaker 3: my injury early in the game, after like our second
- 16:29Speaker 3: drive we were up fourteen to nothing, and then at
- 16:32Speaker 3: that point Dbo, It's like like it's fight or flight.
- 16:36Speaker 3: You want to play. You want to be out there
- 16:38Speaker 3: for you guys. You're trying to do everything you possibly
- 16:41Speaker 3: can to put it on the line because we don't
- 16:44Speaker 3: know how many how many Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, sometimes Saturdays
- 16:48Speaker 3: we're gonna get in the NFL. And I wanted to
- 16:51Speaker 3: be out there and put it on the line for
- 16:53Speaker 3: my teammates and you know, try to go out there
- 16:56Speaker 3: and help them win the game.
- 16:57Speaker 2: And I just wasn't able to do that.
- 16:59Speaker 3: You know that that decision, the decision to play, wasn't
- 17:02Speaker 3: the issues coming back from the injury the next year
- 17:06Speaker 3: too soon, in hindsight, is the thing that I would
- 17:09Speaker 3: I would definitely take back. But I'm always a guy
- 17:12Speaker 3: that believes. You try to put it on the line
- 17:13Speaker 3: for your guys and then you learn from your mistakes.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Oh, for show, that's definitely how it is. We have
- 17:18Speaker 1: seen several quarterbacks try to play through injuries. In your opinion,
- 17:22Speaker 1: do you think you were good enough to play through it?
- 17:25Speaker 2: Oh? Man, that's that's yeah. Like every guy like Dbo,
- 17:30Speaker 2: you've had injuries, you know, and you'd be like, am
- 17:33Speaker 2: I as fast? Nah? I am I as strong?
- 17:38Speaker 1: Nah?
- 17:38Speaker 3: But can I get it done? Like the way that
- 17:41Speaker 3: we're wired. We all think we're superheroes. And I think
- 17:45Speaker 3: the biggest lesson that I learned was when you come
- 17:48Speaker 3: back out and you step on that field, it's not
- 17:51Speaker 3: just about what you think you can do.
- 17:54Speaker 1: You need the.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Team to take care of you right and protect you
- 17:58Speaker 3: from yourself. But when you go out there, whatever is
- 18:00Speaker 3: put on tape, that is what people see. They don't
- 18:04Speaker 3: go back and watch the tape and say, no, Deebo
- 18:06Speaker 3: had a springed ankle this game. Oh, Debo had a
- 18:10Speaker 3: broken collar bone in this game, and he played through it.
- 18:12Speaker 3: They don't say that. They just watched the tape and
- 18:14Speaker 3: they say, oh, he doesn't look as fast, he doesn't
- 18:16Speaker 3: look as strong. He didn't make that catch. He didn't
- 18:18Speaker 3: do this, he didn't do that, and I think for me,
- 18:21Speaker 3: I realized that. So I always advise players now because
- 18:23Speaker 3: I've been through it, debo, don't go out there and
- 18:26Speaker 3: play if you're injured. If you're hurt, told different story,
- 18:31Speaker 3: tore it all, pill whatever, may be, hitch over the hump, right,
- 18:35Speaker 3: but if you're injured. I was injured in Washington, so
- 18:39Speaker 3: I wouldn't have if I could go back and do
- 18:41Speaker 3: it again, I wouldn't have played the rest of that
- 18:44Speaker 3: year in twenty twelve down the stretch. I wouldn't have
- 18:47Speaker 3: come back in twenty thirteen and played as early as
- 18:51Speaker 3: I did. I actually would have sat out the entire
- 18:53Speaker 3: twenty thirteen year just so I could get back healthy.
- 18:57Speaker 3: There's a difference between stubborn your toe on the side
- 19:00Speaker 3: of the bed right and breaking your foot. You don't
- 19:03Speaker 3: want to go play on a broken foot. You can
- 19:06Speaker 3: stub your tone and keep going. So if you're hurt,
- 19:08Speaker 3: play through it. If you're injured, sit out, get fully healthy.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Not for show. For shure. You was drafted second overall
- 19:14Speaker 1: and won the Heisman. JD was drafted second overall and
- 19:18Speaker 1: won the Heisman. What do you like about his game?
- 19:21Speaker 1: I love everything about his game. Listen, I'm I'm JD.
- 19:24Speaker 3: I feel like I'm one of Jdi's biggest fans. Had
- 19:27Speaker 3: a chance to call two of his games in college
- 19:30Speaker 3: before he got to Washington, and I felt like him
- 19:33Speaker 3: coming there.
- 19:35Speaker 2: You obviously going there he had.
- 19:37Speaker 3: He has a really great supporting cast, new owner, new
- 19:41Speaker 3: head coach, new offensive coordinator, leaders like yourself, Zach Ertz
- 19:45Speaker 3: Eckler you know before he also got hurt and also
- 19:48Speaker 3: PRIs up you know.
- 19:49Speaker 2: For Zach with his torn a cl So I'm a
- 19:52Speaker 2: huge JD five fan.
- 19:54Speaker 3: I think his ability to process, and you've probably experienced this.
- 19:59Speaker 3: He can and everyone's like wild by his ability to run,
- 20:03Speaker 3: but his ability to get through his progressions one to
- 20:06Speaker 3: two to three.
- 20:08Speaker 2: A very smart player.
- 20:09Speaker 3: He uses augmented reality and virtual reality to study blitzes
- 20:13Speaker 3: and things, and I've had those conversations with him.
- 20:16Speaker 2: I just love his poison, his demeanor. Man, he is.
- 20:20Speaker 3: He's a guys guy, you know, and he's a great leader.
- 20:24Speaker 3: So I don't have anything bad to say about him,
- 20:27Speaker 3: you know, other than I want him to get healthy
- 20:29Speaker 3: and not be out there playing with seventeen different ailments.
- 20:34Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 20:35Speaker 1: Yeah, what advice do you have with JD five as
- 20:37Speaker 1: you go through his career?
- 20:40Speaker 2: Just to don't ride the roller coaster?
- 20:42Speaker 3: You know it's for some reason in DC. The social
- 20:49Speaker 3: media of it, all right, The fans, I feel like,
- 20:53Speaker 3: have been amazing. The media has gotten better on how
- 20:59Speaker 3: they cover the team. But I see the tweet that
- 21:02Speaker 3: you guys put up because my feeling is he shouldn't
- 21:05Speaker 3: play another game this season. It's not because you guys
- 21:09Speaker 3: are out are just out of the playoffs. It's not
- 21:12Speaker 3: because the record is bad. It's because he's had like
- 21:16Speaker 3: three or four injuries that have popped up. Knee injury, hamstring,
- 21:20Speaker 3: he dislocated his elbow. Then this past game got pushed
- 21:24Speaker 3: down and re injured that same elbow. It's like, at
- 21:27Speaker 3: this point, the team, in my opinion, needs to protect
- 21:31Speaker 3: him from himself because you know this debo and we've seen.
- 21:34Speaker 2: It flying around.
- 21:35Speaker 3: They're like, well, we don't want JD five to become
- 21:38Speaker 3: like RG three did when my career got you shortened
- 21:42Speaker 3: by injury.
- 21:43Speaker 2: He's not me.
- 21:44Speaker 3: His situation is completely different than my situation was. But
- 21:47Speaker 3: I think as a team, my advice to him would
- 21:51Speaker 3: be it's.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Hard to do. It's hard to say.
- 21:55Speaker 3: All right, I actually need to get healthy, because if
- 21:57Speaker 3: I get pushed down and hurt myself, I'm I'm not
- 22:00Speaker 3: helping anybody. If I can't go out there and truly
- 22:04Speaker 3: be myself, I should just be gearing up for next year.
- 22:08Speaker 3: I can still be a leader, I can still be
- 22:09Speaker 3: there for my teammates. But I think that the advice
- 22:12Speaker 3: I have for Jaden is don't allow the outside noise
- 22:17Speaker 3: to necessarily affect how he leads and what he does
- 22:21Speaker 3: and how he plays. But at the same time, my
- 22:24Speaker 3: advice to the team and the commanders would be, take
- 22:27Speaker 3: care of you, young quarterback. You need him for the future.
- 22:29Speaker 3: You don't need him just for this upcoming Sunday.
- 22:32Speaker 1: No, for sure. After Washington and Cleveland, you play next
- 22:37Speaker 1: door in Baltimore. Lamar Jackson the team that same year.
- 22:41Speaker 1: What was your time like in Baltimore and what was
- 22:43Speaker 1: it like being teammates with Lamar Jackson.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Well, I'll tell you this story.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I don't think I've told anybody this one yet, but
- 22:50Speaker 3: I got signed before Lamar was drafted. When we drafted
- 22:54Speaker 3: Lamar with a thirty second pick, I believe it's twenty eighteen.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Like Steve Smith was on the NFL Draft coverage and
- 23:05Speaker 3: I sent out a tweet and I'm like, man, I
- 23:06Speaker 3: can't wait to work with Lamar Jackson because I knew
- 23:09Speaker 3: at this point in my career, like I was gonna.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Be a mentor type guy.
- 23:14Speaker 3: You know, if I got a chance to play, I
- 23:15Speaker 3: would go out there and do the best I could
- 23:17Speaker 3: to get another opportunity to extend my career. But I
- 23:20Speaker 3: knew what my role was in Baltimore, and I tweeted
- 23:24Speaker 3: I can't wait to work with him.
- 23:25Speaker 2: And Steve was on the air and I'm.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Watching at the house, and he said, they pulled up
- 23:30Speaker 3: my tweet and he said, what you mean you can't
- 23:33Speaker 3: wait to work with him?
- 23:34Speaker 2: You about to get cut? And I like my heart dropped.
- 23:37Speaker 2: I'm like, damn, am I.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Gonna get cut?
- 23:40Speaker 2: So the next day.
- 23:43Speaker 3: I go into work and my quarterback coach's name was
- 23:47Speaker 3: James Urban. He pulled me aside debo and he said,
- 23:51Speaker 3: I just want you to know that tweet last night
- 23:54Speaker 3: saved your job. And he said there was some concern
- 24:00Speaker 3: maybe that because we brought in Lamar it would be
- 24:04Speaker 3: to whatever, but you sending out that tweet. Everyone in
- 24:07Speaker 3: the organization saw it and realized that you were the
- 24:09Speaker 3: best guy to help mentor Lamar Jackson because of what
- 24:12Speaker 3: you had been through. You when you talk about like
- 24:17Speaker 3: a tweet saving your job, I never anticipated that, and
- 24:21Speaker 3: that's not why I sent it out.
- 24:22Speaker 1: I really am.
- 24:23Speaker 3: I just truly wanted to work with Lamar, and I'm
- 24:26Speaker 3: grateful I got three years with him. Baltimore showed me
- 24:29Speaker 3: a lot Debo. You were in the organization in San
- 24:32Speaker 3: fran where they were about winning. I think you believe
- 24:36Speaker 3: they did it the right way. Baltimore did it the
- 24:38Speaker 3: right way, from the heg from the ownership all the
- 24:40Speaker 3: way down. They showed me what it's supposed to be
- 24:43Speaker 3: like in the NFL. Guys having each other's back, the organization,
- 24:48Speaker 3: having the players back, taking care of the players the
- 24:50Speaker 3: right way.
- 24:51Speaker 2: So I'm very grateful for that.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Because John Harball is the best NFL coach I ever
- 24:55Speaker 3: played for.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Foot show for show at the player. You chose the
- 24:58Speaker 1: media route, mainly doing college football coverage. Who oh, what
- 25:02Speaker 1: got you into the media.
- 25:05Speaker 2: I didn't want to join the media, devo. I'm gonna
- 25:06Speaker 2: be honest with you. I'm gonna be honest with you,
- 25:12Speaker 2: I really.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Didn't love the connotation you know this in the locker room,
- 25:17Speaker 3: like you're.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Doing this show.
- 25:18Speaker 3: And there's been some shows that players have done that
- 25:21Speaker 3: have been very controversial, but generally speaking, in the locker room,
- 25:25Speaker 3: no one loves first Take or the debate shows because
- 25:31Speaker 3: they feel like they're tearing down the players. So then
- 25:33Speaker 3: when you're a former player, you go on those shows,
- 25:36Speaker 3: like I've been in those conversations with players, They're like, man,
- 25:40Speaker 3: why is this guy over here and tearing this down?
- 25:41Speaker 3: He knows what it's like to be in this locker room.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Why is he doing that? So I didn't want to
- 25:46Speaker 3: be I didn't want to do that at all. So
- 25:48Speaker 3: in twenty one, in twenty seventeen, I was out of
- 25:51Speaker 3: league for a year and I didn't do anything.
- 25:53Speaker 2: I trained, I stayed ready.
- 25:54Speaker 3: So when I was a free agent in twenty one,
- 25:56Speaker 3: I told myself I wasn't gonna not do anything again.
- 25:59Speaker 3: So I went and I decided to do an audition
- 26:02Speaker 3: with Fox. ESPN heard about my audition, brought me in
- 26:05Speaker 3: for an audition and offered me double with Fox. It
- 26:07Speaker 3: offered me and then boom, I was in the door
- 26:09Speaker 3: calling college football games, and then in six months I
- 26:13Speaker 3: was on Monday Night Countdown doing the NFL type stuff.
- 26:18Speaker 3: And what I realized quickly Debo, was you don't have
- 26:21Speaker 3: to do it a certain way.
- 26:24Speaker 2: You just have to be good at what you do.
- 26:27Speaker 3: And I was very adamant in defending the players, very
- 26:30Speaker 3: adamant and not creating false narratives about players. And that's
- 26:34Speaker 3: why I think I was able to break through in
- 26:37Speaker 3: the way that I did because I always give people
- 26:39Speaker 3: the real analysis, not just something that I know is
- 26:41Speaker 3: going to go viral, right, and it's not always liked,
- 26:45Speaker 3: Don't get me wrong. Not everything you say is going
- 26:47Speaker 3: to be liked. But you don't have to tear players
- 26:51Speaker 3: down to try to get to where you want to
- 26:53Speaker 3: be in the media.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Now for shore, speaking of college football, the Heisman finalists
- 26:57Speaker 1: just got revealed. Who is your Heisman picked? And why?
- 27:01Speaker 2: Yeah, So I'm gonna be honest with Debo. I think
- 27:03Speaker 2: it's a crime against humanity.
- 27:05Speaker 3: The Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez is not in New
- 27:08Speaker 3: York for the Heisman Trophy.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I know everyone will.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Say, hey, ah, he's a linebacker.
- 27:14Speaker 2: You know, did he how many touchdowns did he score?
- 27:16Speaker 3: I think Texas Tech has the best defense in the
- 27:18Speaker 3: country and he was a leader of that defense. His
- 27:21Speaker 3: numbers are comparable and better than man Titeos when he
- 27:25Speaker 3: was a Heisman finalist. So Jacob Rodriguez was my pick
- 27:29Speaker 3: to be in New York. I think based off the
- 27:31Speaker 3: guys that went, Fernando Mendoza from Indiana, you got Jeremiah
- 27:35Speaker 3: Love from Notre Dame, Diego Pavia from Vanderbilt, and Julian
- 27:39Speaker 3: Saying from Ohio State.
- 27:41Speaker 2: I think it's very clear who.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Is going to win the Heisman now, and it'll be
- 27:44Speaker 3: Fernando Mendoza. I don't know if you saw his interview
- 27:47Speaker 3: after the Ohio State game, but the guy was he
- 27:50Speaker 3: was about to cry right like you get You could
- 27:53Speaker 3: sense the emotion, like, hey, we're the number one team
- 27:56Speaker 3: in the country, undefeated, were the favorite to win the
- 27:58Speaker 3: collegetball playoffs, and we just won the Heisman. Like it
- 28:01Speaker 3: was overwhelming for him, and I think he will come
- 28:03Speaker 3: out on top based off of who ended up going.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Who runner up, because I ain't got a lot of
- 28:07Speaker 1: that they're running back from to Dame. That boy is
- 28:09Speaker 1: that boy? That boy should like they kind of like
- 28:17Speaker 1: I would say, they treated like the MVP Award of
- 28:20Speaker 1: the NFL. But should no quarterbacks we consider more for Heisman.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Oh you know we had Travis Hunter last year.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Yep, yeah, No, I think you're spot on.
- 28:29Speaker 3: I do think that there should be more positions represented
- 28:33Speaker 3: at the Heisman Trophy ceremony. And speaking of that, I
- 28:36Speaker 3: do also say we had Marcel Reid on our show
- 28:38Speaker 3: out of Podka with LG three this week, and he
- 28:41Speaker 3: I think he should also have been a Heisman finalist,
- 28:44Speaker 3: but with the year that they had a text a
- 28:46Speaker 3: in them. But I think Jeremiah Love at Notre Dame
- 28:50Speaker 3: the way he finished the year, because if you looked
- 28:52Speaker 3: at his numbers midway through the season, no one would
- 28:55Speaker 3: have said, oh yeah, he's going to be a Heisman finalist.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Because the Heisman, it is about the most exciting player
- 29:01Speaker 3: in the country and the best player in the country.
- 29:04Speaker 3: But there's a lot of great players that put up
- 29:06Speaker 3: great numbers that never get an invite to the Heisman because.
- 29:10Speaker 2: They have five or six losses.
- 29:12Speaker 3: So I always try to tell people, you can't look
- 29:14Speaker 3: at it in a vacuum like Notre Dame. We lost
- 29:18Speaker 3: two games, So Jeremiah Love is going to be in
- 29:21Speaker 3: the running despite the fact that he's not the leading
- 29:23Speaker 3: rusher in the country. So he had that spin move
- 29:27Speaker 3: a couple of weeks ago, and I think that spin
- 29:30Speaker 3: move is what got him to New York.
- 29:31Speaker 2: He spun his way all the way to New York.
- 29:34Speaker 3: And he's a dynamic player and his celebration, you know,
- 29:37Speaker 3: the love breaking the hearts of these defenses is pretty
- 29:40Speaker 3: sweet too.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Now it's time for the Don't Settle Segment, presented by
- 29:43Speaker 1: State Farm. We talked about college football a little earlier.
- 29:46Speaker 1: The bracket just got revealed. Everyone is talking about Norda Dame.
- 29:50Speaker 1: But before we talk about Norda Dame, let's talk about Vanderbilt. Okay,
- 29:56Speaker 1: you know, I was in college Vanderbilt. It was not
- 30:00Speaker 1: a you know, it was not a good team. And
- 30:04Speaker 1: the way that they was playing this year, only losing
- 30:06Speaker 1: two games, there's a lot of there's a lot of
- 30:08Speaker 1: good teams that only lost two games that didn't make it.
- 30:11Speaker 1: And we sit here and look at Bama, who's lost three,
- 30:14Speaker 1: and you know, Obama always got Bama always got the advantage.
- 30:17Speaker 1: I just think not only Norre Dame got snubbed, but
- 30:19Speaker 1: it was the other good It was a lot of
- 30:20Speaker 1: good other teams that got snubbed as well.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Yeah, d Bo, this was the perfect year for expansion talk, right,
- 30:27Speaker 3: if we had sixteen teams get in, Yes, there'd be
- 30:31Speaker 3: some conversations about some of the nine and three teams.
- 30:33Speaker 2: But Vanderbilt gets in.
- 30:35Speaker 3: You're talking about Notre Dame gets in, BYU gets in.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Utah probably gets in as well. I think, uh Vanderbilt,
- 30:44Speaker 3: the way that they played and how exciting Diego Pavia is,
- 30:48Speaker 3: a lot of people want them in the playoffs. I
- 30:51Speaker 3: think the biggest weirdest thing was that the committee punished
- 30:55Speaker 3: BYU for losing in the conference championship game with only
- 30:58Speaker 3: one loss and didn't punish Alabama. And now Bama's got three,
- 31:04Speaker 3: BYU has two. BYU's on the outside. No one's even
- 31:07Speaker 3: talking about him except for me and a couple other
- 31:09Speaker 3: people who are outraged about it. But Bama did get
- 31:12Speaker 3: that SEC bias.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. Who do you put Notre Dame over?
- 31:17Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 31:17Speaker 3: I think you put in Notre Dame over Alabama. You know,
- 31:21Speaker 3: I saw the tweet up on the screen about Notre
- 31:24Speaker 3: Dame deciding to not go to a bowl game, and
- 31:27Speaker 3: Deebo that that decision isn't just about not being in
- 31:31Speaker 3: the college ball playoff. As you say there, I don't
- 31:34Speaker 3: blame them for doing it, but where are ball games
- 31:36Speaker 3: played at? Like the ball game that they would have
- 31:39Speaker 3: gone to was going to air on ABC and ESPN,
- 31:43Speaker 3: So because of that, they don't want to benefit the
- 31:47Speaker 3: network that they feel like kept them out of the playoff.
- 31:50Speaker 3: And I don't blame I don't blame Marcus Freeman and
- 31:55Speaker 3: his team for saying, you know what, we're just not
- 31:57Speaker 3: going to do it. We're not going to do it
- 31:58Speaker 3: at all. And I expected because they were very upfront
- 32:01Speaker 3: about it.
- 32:02Speaker 1: No for sure. For this segment, we're going to predict
- 32:05Speaker 1: the college football playoffs. So we got first round. We
- 32:08Speaker 1: got James Madison versus Oregon.
- 32:14Speaker 3: I'm very happy for James Madison getting into the Collage
- 32:16Speaker 3: ball Playoff.
- 32:16Speaker 2: I am picking Orgon in this game.
- 32:18Speaker 1: You got Alabama versus Oklahoma.
- 32:22Speaker 2: You know I'm gonna go to Oklahoma.
- 32:23Speaker 3: I think Jeometeer is fully healthy now and Oklahoma's gonna
- 32:27Speaker 3: get that win.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Tulane versus Ole Miss.
- 32:31Speaker 3: Going with Old Miss despite not having their head coach.
- 32:34Speaker 3: I think all of their coaches are back except for
- 32:36Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin, So I think Ole Miss Trinidad, Chambliss and
- 32:39Speaker 3: Kawan Lacey pull it.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Off Miami versus Texas and New I ain't gonna lie
- 32:45Speaker 1: like it. I'm gonna be many Hey fan show a.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Malakai Tony is an absolute dog. I think that it
- 32:59Speaker 3: comes down to can my quarterback win this game in
- 33:02Speaker 3: more ways than one?
- 33:03Speaker 2: And that's why I'm going to go with Texas A
- 33:05Speaker 2: and M and Marcel Reed no.
- 33:06Speaker 1: For shuffles sold. Now, who you think is going to
- 33:09Speaker 1: win the National championship?
- 33:12Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 33:12Speaker 3: I think I think Texas Tech is going to win
- 33:14Speaker 3: the National championship. And I say that because when they
- 33:19Speaker 3: face Indiana, that defense.
- 33:22Speaker 2: For Texas Tech.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Texas Tech has the best pass rush in the country,
- 33:26Speaker 3: Romelo Height, David Bailey on the outsides, Lee Hunter in
- 33:30Speaker 3: the middle. You got Jacob Rodriguez and be Ben Roberts
- 33:33Speaker 3: had two picks in the Big Twelve Championship game.
- 33:36Speaker 2: They smother you out. They're big, they're physical.
- 33:39Speaker 3: They got two running backs with Jacoby Williams and also
- 33:43Speaker 3: Cameron Dickie out there, as I say, getting Dickie with it.
- 33:46Speaker 3: And they got a veteran quarterback who can absolutely ball
- 33:49Speaker 3: with three receivers outside and a tight end that George
- 33:53Speaker 3: Kittle would absolutely love with the way that he can
- 33:56Speaker 3: make plays. So I think Tech is the people are
- 33:59Speaker 3: sleeping on Tech because they're so enamored with Indiana and
- 34:02Speaker 3: Ohio State.
- 34:03Speaker 2: But if Texas Tech is.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Healthy going into that game against Indiana in the semifinals,
- 34:08Speaker 3: I think that they're the ones that end up winning
- 34:10Speaker 3: the national championship.
- 34:11Speaker 1: So do you think Texas Tech is the best team
- 34:13Speaker 1: in college football?
- 34:16Speaker 2: I do? I do. I think they're the best team.
- 34:18Speaker 3: I think they're the most complete team in college football
- 34:22Speaker 3: because of all the reasons that I mentioned, And they're
- 34:24Speaker 3: going to get tested against Oregon because Oregon is a
- 34:29Speaker 3: team that positioned by position. I don't know if anyone's
- 34:32Speaker 3: recruited better than Dan Lanning at Oregon. So they're going
- 34:35Speaker 3: to have ballers. It's just a matter of do they
- 34:37Speaker 3: have the experience to pull it off. And I think
- 34:40Speaker 3: I think a lot of people are sleeping on Tech
- 34:42Speaker 3: Tech because there's some bias towards the Big Twelve where
- 34:44Speaker 3: they don't think that the Big twelve teams can hang.
- 34:47Speaker 2: And I think Tech is going to prove that wrong.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Okay, if it wasn't Texas Texas Tech, who is your
- 34:52Speaker 1: sicket team that you think would win it?
- 34:55Speaker 3: Yeah, second team for me, what would be Indiana. I
- 34:59Speaker 3: have been saying in all season long that I thought
- 35:02Speaker 3: Indiana was the best team in the country and Texas
- 35:05Speaker 3: Tech was the best defense. Now with Indiana beating Ohio
- 35:10Speaker 3: State the way that they beat them, Fernando Mendoza showing
- 35:13Speaker 3: you that clutch gene that he has, Elijah Sarratt, I
- 35:18Speaker 3: think that Indiana has been the best team in the country,
- 35:24Speaker 3: and now it's a matter of who's the best team
- 35:27Speaker 3: as we go through these rounds. We're gonna have three
- 35:29Speaker 3: four weeks off for some of these teams. How do
- 35:31Speaker 3: they recuperate and get ready to roll? And that to me,
- 35:35Speaker 3: if it's not Tech, I would roll with Indiana.
- 35:37Speaker 1: All Right, guys, there you go r G three Breaking Predictions.
- 35:41Speaker 1: That's time for the Don't Settle segment presented by State Form.
- 35:44Speaker 1: We talked about qbs both NFL and college. So let's
- 35:47Speaker 1: talk about the best qbs in the NFL. We talked
- 35:50Speaker 1: about Lamar Jackson. What other quarterbacks in the league have
- 35:53Speaker 1: your attention?
- 35:56Speaker 2: Okay, so my top.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Five I'll go I'll go at number five would be
- 36:00Speaker 3: Jared Goff I think Jared Goff doesn't get the love
- 36:03Speaker 3: he deserves. Detroit Lions quarterback efficient in the play action game.
- 36:09Speaker 3: The Lions are always a threat with Jared Goff at
- 36:12Speaker 3: the helm, and I think he deserves that respect. Number four,
- 36:15Speaker 3: I'm going with Matthew Stafford. We talked about him earlier,
- 36:19Speaker 3: his arm, talent, his ability to lead. I feel like
- 36:23Speaker 3: he's healthier than he's been in the last three or
- 36:25Speaker 3: four years, and it's showing on the field with Devantie Adams,
- 36:29Speaker 3: Pooka Nakua and that two headed, you know, monster running
- 36:31Speaker 3: back they have right now with Blake corm and Karen Williams.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Number three, I'm going with Josh Allen.
- 36:36Speaker 3: Now, I know some people might be upset that he's
- 36:37Speaker 3: at three, but let me tell you, Josh Allen is
- 36:40Speaker 3: a beast. This is a very respectful number three ranking.
- 36:44Speaker 3: I think he's a big guy, uh makes a bunch
- 36:47Speaker 3: of incredible plays. You're never out of a game no
- 36:50Speaker 3: matter how much you're down. With Josh Allen at quarterback.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Number two, I'm going with Lamar Jackson. And I know
- 36:57Speaker 3: Lamar has not had the greatest year the year, but
- 37:01Speaker 3: I am giving these rankings based off of how I
- 37:04Speaker 3: believe these guys have played over the past couple of seasons,
- 37:08Speaker 3: and Lamar is a guy that will figure it out
- 37:10Speaker 3: down the stretch. I think the Ravens will make the
- 37:12Speaker 3: playoffs despite you know, being six to seven right now,
- 37:15Speaker 3: and number one I'm going Patrick Mahomes and and this
- 37:18Speaker 3: is this to me, It's gonna take at least five
- 37:21Speaker 3: years of somebody just absolutely out playing Mahomes to remove
- 37:26Speaker 3: him from that number one spot.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Dee Bo, I feel like sometimes people get tired of greatness.
- 37:30Speaker 1: You know, you have I played, I'm tired of you.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Know, people get tired of greatness.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Like Lebron.
- 37:40Speaker 3: James hit on Lebron. He's one of the greatest. I
- 37:42Speaker 3: think he's the said greatest all the time. I'm a
- 37:44Speaker 3: Jordan kid, so I'm always lod to Mike. But people
- 37:47Speaker 3: get tired of it and they start picking at it.
- 37:49Speaker 3: So with Mahomes, I think people get tired of how
- 37:51Speaker 3: great he is. He's still, in my opinions, the greatest
- 37:54Speaker 3: quarterback in the galaxy.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Uh.
- 37:55Speaker 2: And I'm sorry that you've had to play so many
- 37:57Speaker 2: Super Bowls.
- 38:00Speaker 1: You know, we mentioned Matthew Stafford. Matthew Stafford is in
- 38:02Speaker 1: the MVP race. Do you think he should win or
- 38:05Speaker 1: Drake May. Oh?
- 38:09Speaker 2: Oh, that is a great question, Deebo. That's why you're
- 38:12Speaker 2: doing what you're doing, all right. I think right now
- 38:15Speaker 2: Matthew Stafford is the in the lead for the MVP.
- 38:19Speaker 3: And unless they stumble down the stretch, you know, not
- 38:22Speaker 3: too many games left the rest of this season. But
- 38:24Speaker 3: the way that Drake May has turned around his career
- 38:27Speaker 3: this this year alone, Vrabel coming in as the head coach,
- 38:31Speaker 3: giving that team an identity, and you see a different
- 38:34Speaker 3: Drake May. I never saw this version of Drake May
- 38:36Speaker 3: at North Carolina, and I called games for him at
- 38:39Speaker 3: North Carolina. So I've been utterly impressed with his decision making,
- 38:42Speaker 3: his ability to make the off schedule plays. If if
- 38:46Speaker 3: the Rams falter here in the last couple of games,
- 38:49Speaker 3: I could see Drake May winning the NFL MVP. But
- 38:53Speaker 3: right now, I got to give it to the thirty
- 38:54Speaker 3: seven year old who's playing like he's twenty three.
- 38:56Speaker 1: You know, so all right, out of your top five lists,
- 39:00Speaker 1: I kind of shift back a little bit. Out of
- 39:02Speaker 1: your top five list, who is an honorable five if
- 39:06Speaker 1: you had to p.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Oh, the honorable five?
- 39:09Speaker 3: Yeah, Baker Mayfield, I think gets gets an honorable mention.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Just been so impressed with the bounce back that he's
- 39:16Speaker 3: had in his career. He's playing like Baker from Oklahoma,
- 39:21Speaker 3: chip on his shoulder, flag planting, you know, like that Baker.
- 39:25Speaker 3: He's he's fully bought back into that and I love
- 39:28Speaker 3: that for him. I would say Sam Donold is an
- 39:32Speaker 3: honorable mention there as well. I think that that Sam.
- 39:36Speaker 3: You know what he's been able to do in Seattle,
- 39:38Speaker 3: Him and Jackson Smith and Jigba have been dynamic, like
- 39:41Speaker 3: out of this world. And I know Seattle is very
- 39:44Speaker 3: happy and Minnesota's very upset that he is he is
- 39:47Speaker 3: no longer there. Jordan Love I think would also get
- 39:50Speaker 3: an honorable mention. I know it's been a little bit
- 39:53Speaker 3: of up and down year for him and for the
- 39:55Speaker 3: Packers at times, but I think he is certainly worthy
- 39:59Speaker 3: of being a French as quarterback. It's just hard to
- 40:01Speaker 3: crack that top five when you have those names that
- 40:04Speaker 3: have been there in there so consistently, it makes it
- 40:07Speaker 3: very difficult to make it.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Noah for sure, for sure, But thank you for tuning
- 40:12Speaker 1: in to this episode of Cleating Combos presented by State
- 40:15Speaker 1: Farm don't settle for just any insurance when they're state
- 40:18Speaker 1: farm r G three. I appreciate you tuning in.
- 40:20Speaker 3: Brother, Appreciate you, my guy, for doing it again sometimes.
- 40:24Speaker 1: All love,
