  [SPEAKER_00]: And that potentially saves the Jaguars a lot more cap space if they decide they want to use it by moving on from any of the players that we're going to talk about today.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There's basically a short list of seven players where the jag wars would save a fair amount of cap space from moving on from them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Personally, I only think there's one guy that actually makes sense, but we're gonna dive into it because again, after June 1.

  [SPEAKER_00]: all these cap cuts could potentially make more sense and offer the Jaguars a little bit more flexibility.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If they wanted to make a move like a trade for a big player, you saw a couple of those yesterday.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Looking at these players where the Jaguars could save a fair amount of cap space by moving on, I mean some of them it's like a massive amount of cap space.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars currently have for 2026, 9.5 million dollars in cap space, so they do have enough room to potentially make a move,

  [SPEAKER_00]: and add a star player, now if that star player's contract is over $9.5 million, they might have to convert some of that to a signing bonus or a roster bonus, they might have to move some things around, or they could move on from one of these players.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to mention the first one that we've got here on the list, Eric Armstead.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He is a player that quite frankly, a lot of folks around Jacksonville, a lot of media,

  [SPEAKER_00]: thought that he would be gone.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Just based on the fact that the Jaguars could cut him and save 14.5 million dollars, just under $14.5 million in cap space.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's a massive chunk of change, but I think what a lot of people didn't factor in was the Jaguars, their front office, and their coaching staff, and how much they valued what Eric Graham said could bring

  [SPEAKER_00]: And in reality, if you move on from Eric Armsted, what is the alternate route?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

  [SPEAKER_00]: This is a guy that, to me, when he wants to pin his ears back and just be a past Russia, he is pretty good in that scenario.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was playing through injuries last year before he hurt his hand.

  [SPEAKER_00]: which is a little bit past med season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was playing excellent football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was among the league leaders and pressures at the defensive tackle position.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was among the league leaders and sacks at the defensive tackle position and he was part of a run defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: that was the best in football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And he was able to maintain a lot of his ability to stop the run, but the past rush juice wasn't there as much down the stretch for Eric Armstead.

  [SPEAKER_00]: This is a great veteran presence, a piece to a very good defensive front.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Somebody who the Jaguar is probably think they can get more out of if they can keep them a little bit healthier down the stretch.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now, Arm said, has dealt with a lot of injuries throughout his career, something to keep in mind.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But again, what is the alternative?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Well,

  [SPEAKER_00]: They do kind of have an alternative now, and that's somebody that they brought into the building via trade trading Mason Smith for Rook Aurora row.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I believe, however, unless you're going to make a big swing for some defensive tackle that you trade for, having Eric Armstrong stood in the building.

  [SPEAKER_00]: is going to help you on the field in 2026.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like he's probably going to be gone in 2027 unless they just work out a deal.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's up there in age, unless they work out a deal that is very, very team friendly.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It feels likely that Eric arms dead probably will be gone in 2027 because his contract is expiring.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he wants to, you know,

  [SPEAKER_00]: He could stick around though, wouldn't be totally shocking, but they do kind of have a built-in option now with Rook Aurora who has two years left on his contract, 2026 and 2027, having both of them in the building, as guys that can potentially help you as past pressures in 2026, I think makes a lot of sense,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Is it possible that Rook once you get into like OTAs there?

  [SPEAKER_00]: And now, many camp could he impress you so much that you're like, well, if we did move on from Eric wrong said and saved this cap space, what could we do with that?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't think you decided to just save cap space for the sake of saving it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that if you're going to save some cap space, you want to do that to improve your football team.

  [SPEAKER_00]: you want to do that so you can make another move like a trade right um so again for me I don't really think cutting air gromm instead makes much sense at this point unless there is another move subsequent move you know coming down the pack.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think having Eric Armstrong's dead and Rook, having Eric Armstrong's dead, if you think that Rook can maybe play the Eric Armstrong's dead role in 2027 as a starting like three-tech type player, you probably want him around Eric Armstrong's dead this year, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: to learn from a veteran who has made a very, very nice career for himself in the NFL, Rook is still a young player and still needs seasoning, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I wouldn't be moving on from him unless I have another move in place for a defensive tackle that I think is just going to, you know, vastly improve what you have there.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Boy, Luke and I cannot see movement on from him at all, right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars would save $10.25 million in cap space if they did decide to move on from him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, unless you have something that you want to do from a cap standpoint that you need more flexibility for, why are you moving on from an aircraft, why are you moving on from foiello again?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars could save $8.4 million, just over $8.4 million in cap space by moving on from Devon Hamilton.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there's any way in the world they're moving on from Devon Hamilton this year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: This is a player who they view as the top nose tackle in the game and run defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he earned that kind of recognition last year, anchoring the best run defense in football by a fairly wide margin.

  [SPEAKER_00]: To me, he's still kind of getting back to being at his best.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There is a possibility that Devon Hamilton takes another step forward back to what he was prior to his scary back-health situation that really, I mean, it caused him to lose weight.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was a scary situation for Devon Hamilton.

  [SPEAKER_00]: uh... he came back in twenty twenty four wasn't quite himself twenty twenty five dominant run defense season for divine hamilton but uh... didn't do a whole lot in the past rest department obviously did have a huge batted past at the line of scrimmage in overtime that helped the jaguar's beat uh... the raiders but again uh... didn't do much in the past rest department there was a time before his injury where it looked like

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was going to be a dominant pocket pushing nose tackle against the past.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like somebody who could just steam roll guards and centers if he gets a one-on-one opportunity and kind of collapse the infrastructure of the pocket.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You might see that a little bit more this year in my opinion.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I wouldn't be moving off from Devon Hamilton.

  [SPEAKER_00]: and you then you move on from Devon Himmet like that sort of thing could have made sense, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you did draft Albert Regis to be a future nose tackle.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I just, I don't think you cut Devon for Albert Regis right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Ezra Cleveland is coming off to, in my opinion, very good seasons.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He showed a lot of chemistry with both Robert Hansie at Center and once Colvin and Leningrad over there at Left Tackle, they were moving people over on that left side.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Cleveland is a really good athlete who also brings some nasty, some fight to him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I just can't see moving on.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You have, why am I letting me draft it in 2025?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think Patrick McCary is clearly the starter right now, but there's going to be a lot of competition on that O'Line.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I just don't see any reason to move on from an Ezra Cleveland when he was a good, good player for you and I think he projects to be that moving forward and it is the final year of his contract.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If Eric Armstrong said moves on, and I don't expect to be the Jaguar, the Jaguar is to be really active in for agency next year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Things could change, but the way it looks right now, they're up against it with the cap a little bit.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, all that to say, they could be playing the compensatory pick formula again next year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, Ferric Armstrong said walks and gets paid.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're getting three picks back projected right now for Devin Lloyd, Travis C. T. N. And Greg Newsom.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now it's projected to fourth to fifth and a six round pick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, that's if you cut these guys right now, you're not getting compensatory picks for them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now the one player who I mentioned that I thought that there was one player that really made a lot of sense for the Jaguar's to potentially move on from.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And it's Tuma-Doga.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think if you're keeping 10, again, you've got Anton Harrison, Patrick McCarrie, Robert Hansie, Ezra Cleveland, Colvin Lannon.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You've then got Walker Little, Emmanuel Pregnant, John Ammanheim, Wyatt Mylem, I think Tombow would be the 10th guy right now, and maybe you do keep 10.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Because with my alum, you definitely feel like you have somebody who can play guard and probably tackle for you in a pinch.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Jonah Monheim, I think they believe could play three positions.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think, pregnant one, I think, could play either guard spot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's a lot of flexibility right there.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Chumma might make sense, especially if they have confidence in some of the other players that they've added that are coming in here and competing, added or kept from last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They've got a number of guys that could step up and potentially give a dug-a run for as money, like Zierer, who is former unwrapped for reagents, how warmly he's been around a little bit, Jerome Carvin,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Gonna be fastening to see what happens there.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's the one that could make sense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But again, if he is your 10th best offensive lineman and you don't need the $2.9 million in cap savings and you're gonna keep 10, if he's the 10th best guy, you should keep him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: it seems possible at some point that he could get beat out to just for the roster.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Mike Best guess is he, if they keep 10, he would be the 10th, but 10 is a lot to keep.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of spots on the roster where you wanna have a lot of depth, obviously offensive line is one of them, but it's a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now, looking at the other two, well, okay, so Hunter long, I think just makes sense just because like, is he gonna make the roster?

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that could potentially be something, just because you know, you have Britain strange, you have Quentin Morris, you have obviously Nate Borkercher and Tanner Kozuel, that's four tight ends right there.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You could try to make him like your practice squad call-up guy if he doesn't make their roster.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's one that is interesting.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then the next two to mention are just really silly to even talk about Antonio Johnson and Parker Washington.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars would both save $3.6 million by moving on from those two guys, which, again, just doesn't make any sense to move on from them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: These are two guys that, I mean, Parker Washington is like, maybe the Jaguar is number one target at receiver right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So you're not moving on from either of those guys.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think Parker Washington, you're probably trying to extend.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I would not be mad at all if they could figure out something to extend Antonio Johnson as well.
