- 1:00Speaker 1: to talk Philly sports in general. But this week here
- 1:03Speaker 1: to talk about the Philadelphia Eagles, the offseason, the upcoming
- 1:05Speaker 1: NFL Draft. We've got the one and only John Jansen.
- 1:08Speaker 2: How you doing, Buddy, I'm doing good.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I'm doing good.
- 1:11Speaker 2: And it's a very interesting draft for the Eagles too,
- 1:13Speaker 2: a lot of different moves maneuvers that could be made. Yeah,
- 1:16Speaker 2: that's an interesting one, especially coming off Super Bowl. It's
- 1:20Speaker 2: very interesting.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Absolutely, it definitely is. Look this past week on the podcast, John,
- 1:26Speaker 1: my co host Eric and I we were talking about
- 1:29Speaker 1: how we're feeling about this Eagles team and organization heading
- 1:33Speaker 1: into this draft, and for us, there seems to be
- 1:36Speaker 1: this sort of sense of calm about where this team
- 1:40Speaker 1: is at right now heading into the draft, and that
- 1:43Speaker 1: Howie Roseman may be playing with house money having so
- 1:46Speaker 1: many draft picks over these next two years. So my
- 1:49Speaker 1: co host Eric was actually talking about how he could
- 1:52Speaker 1: see how we packaging basically some picks to really make
- 1:56Speaker 1: a significant trade in this draft, perhaps maybe for an
- 1:59Speaker 1: established pass rusher. Wanted to get your overall thoughts about
- 2:03Speaker 1: this particular idea of this concept because it is floating
- 2:06Speaker 1: around out in the world of Eagles Nation, and also
- 2:10Speaker 1: how would you assess where the Eagles are at right
- 2:13Speaker 1: now heading into this draft. What are your thoughts?
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all about flexibility, and I think that's what
- 2:18Speaker 2: Eric was trying to get to. It's flexibility of can
- 2:22Speaker 2: we use these draft picks to just use the draft
- 2:25Speaker 2: picks right by the way, you don't want to use
- 2:26Speaker 2: as many as they have, but also can you use
- 2:29Speaker 2: it to package for a player to move up, or
- 2:32Speaker 2: could you package it for just to move up even
- 2:35Speaker 2: a couple of spots in the draft. It's all about
- 2:37Speaker 2: flexibility for Howie Rosman, and I feel like he's done
- 2:40Speaker 2: a very good job at that he's been able to
- 2:42Speaker 2: move up for some of the high end draft picks.
- 2:44Speaker 2: He's been able to move up in the second round
- 2:47Speaker 2: as well. So I think that's where Howie Roseman is
- 2:50Speaker 2: coming from. Can I get all these draft picks and
- 2:54Speaker 2: can I use them in ways where I can get
- 2:56Speaker 2: Aj Brown like you did a few years ago? Or
- 2:59Speaker 2: can I package to move up just a couple of
- 3:02Speaker 2: picks just to get somebody that we think is very
- 3:05Speaker 2: talented and all that has worked out very well. So
- 3:08Speaker 2: I think yes, it is the flexibility of going we
- 3:11Speaker 2: can do whatever we want, whenever we want. And the
- 3:14Speaker 2: good thing is too that he has so many good
- 3:17Speaker 2: players now that you don't have to have like this
- 3:19Speaker 2: huge influx of talent. You can go maybe we just
- 3:23Speaker 2: need that one guy or a couple of guys. It's
- 3:25Speaker 2: not we don't need eight players to just in our
- 3:29Speaker 2: roster be very good. We just need one or two. Yeah,
- 3:32Speaker 2: And that's where the flexibility comes in that can we
- 3:35Speaker 2: get it through a trade or can we get it
- 3:37Speaker 2: to move up in the draft and to get it
- 3:39Speaker 2: in that way? And I think that's a very very
- 3:41Speaker 2: good spot to be and that's what happens when you
- 3:43Speaker 2: drafts well throughout the past like three to four years
- 3:46Speaker 2: as they have.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely, folks. John is on Fox Sports Phillies The Gambler.
- 3:52Speaker 1: If you're not following him and following him and his
- 3:56Speaker 1: buddies and everybody over at Fox Sports Phillies The Gambler.
- 3:59Speaker 1: It is a great, great cast of individuals who talk
- 4:03Speaker 1: about the world of Philly sports. John, tell everybody where
- 4:05Speaker 1: they can find you all out there.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you can find me at J Jansen thirty four,
- 4:11Speaker 2: Jja n Sen thirty four, as well as at Fox
- 4:16Speaker 2: PHL Gamblers. We can find all over stuff I've seen.
- 4:19Speaker 2: You have Sean Bernard on he is amazing, Sixers great
- 4:22Speaker 2: Luke Arkaney has done a great job with Philly. So
- 4:25Speaker 2: just a very very talented group.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Absolutely absolutely well. Moving along with the conversation here, John,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I think most of us have a pretty good feeling
- 4:34Speaker 1: that the Eagles will draft a safety at some point
- 4:38Speaker 1: here for the future. SCJ. Gardner Johnson is no longer
- 4:41Speaker 1: on this teams. We all know, and you know, we're
- 4:43Speaker 1: not too sure how much we can trust the current
- 4:46Speaker 1: depth at this position. It's definitely a question mark coming
- 4:49Speaker 1: into the twenty twenty five twenty twenty six season. What
- 4:52Speaker 1: are your thoughts on where the Eagles are at from
- 4:56Speaker 1: the safety position standpoint and what they may do come draft.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the that's the very interesting one because they
- 5:04Speaker 2: have moved on from a lot of positions or a
- 5:06Speaker 2: lot of good players at some positions. But you go, okay,
- 5:09Speaker 2: there's somebody in waiting in the wings. You know, there
- 5:12Speaker 2: is somebody that they have drafted that they fear really
- 5:14Speaker 2: confident about. The thing with CJ. Gunnar Johnson is they
- 5:17Speaker 2: let him go and it's okay, here's Sidney Brown. And
- 5:20Speaker 2: I don't think even with the Eagles front office there
- 5:23Speaker 2: is a lot of confidence that Sidney Brown is like
- 5:25Speaker 2: a plug and play player. I think there's mostly you're
- 5:29Speaker 2: going to have to try and figure out can we
- 5:30Speaker 2: get it through the draft or is that a position?
- 5:34Speaker 2: And we've seen this a lot with Harry Roseman. We
- 5:36Speaker 2: haven't seen it recently because at running back, he didn't
- 5:39Speaker 2: pay a lot for running back. But then all of
- 5:41Speaker 2: a sudden, Seguan Barkley was available and he got Saquon
- 5:44Speaker 2: and also Zach Bond was like a revelation. Nobody Knewson
- 5:49Speaker 2: was going to be the player that he was, So
- 5:51Speaker 2: maybe it's a position. They already have Red Blankenship there,
- 5:55Speaker 2: they have Quinyon Mitchell, they have gotten cornerbacks through free agency,
- 6:00Speaker 2: they have Cooper de Gene. So maybe that is a
- 6:03Speaker 2: position that they go. You know what, there's not a
- 6:05Speaker 2: lot of stock in there. Maybe a second third round
- 6:08Speaker 2: pick at the most or even later to get a
- 6:11Speaker 2: position a player at that position there. But that could
- 6:14Speaker 2: be one. We've seen Howard you do that before where
- 6:17Speaker 2: he kind of punts at it and go, this isn't
- 6:19Speaker 2: a position of value. We can plug in Sidney Brown
- 6:23Speaker 2: and maybe a cast of characters and we will be
- 6:27Speaker 2: fine because we have already drafted very well at some
- 6:30Speaker 2: other positions in the secondary, and I kind of have
- 6:33Speaker 2: a feeling that's where he's gonna go there.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Okay, very interesting for sure. And as we're moving along
- 6:38Speaker 1: with Eagles draft talk here and how it may impact
- 6:43Speaker 1: potential trade. Who knows what is going to happen, but
- 6:46Speaker 1: there's a lot of discussion, a lot of talk this
- 6:49Speaker 1: offseason John about how the Eagles may just trade Dallas
- 6:53Speaker 1: Goddard and the rationale would be to free up some
- 6:57Speaker 1: cap space. The cap concerns that are there for the
- 6:59Speaker 1: few future as Howie and company looks to extend younger
- 7:03Speaker 1: and more dominant players in the future. And honestly, I'm
- 7:07Speaker 1: not sure that this really would be the best idea
- 7:10Speaker 1: for this Eagles offense in particular, Sure Dallas Goddard, he
- 7:14Speaker 1: is often injured. It is extremely annoying when he is
- 7:18Speaker 1: out for a few games here and there. But I'm
- 7:20Speaker 1: not sure hindsight kind of being twenty twenty here, I'm
- 7:23Speaker 1: not sure the Eagles win the Super Bowl with Grant Calcatara,
- 7:27Speaker 1: And if he's not on this Eagles offense, there's a
- 7:31Speaker 1: case to be made that Dallas Goddard, if he wasn't here,
- 7:35Speaker 1: could potentially be a weaker offense. So I don't know,
- 7:38Speaker 1: I could be completely wrong in this. You know, it's subjective.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I think this topic. What are your thoughts, John, when
- 7:44Speaker 1: it comes to this particular offseason storyline, what Dallas Goddard
- 7:48Speaker 1: gives to this team and if he should be traded?
- 7:52Speaker 2: Yeah, And I don't think it takes anything away from
- 7:54Speaker 2: cal Katara. I thought he was a very good receiving
- 7:57Speaker 2: tight end. He doesn't block very well, but he role
- 8:00Speaker 2: as a backup tight end, especially when Goddard was out.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I thought it was very good and I thought he
- 8:05Speaker 2: did a great job doing that. But Goddard definitely gives
- 8:07Speaker 2: him a lot more. And it's the same thing that
- 8:10Speaker 2: we've seen, like before the draft, is when they want
- 8:13Speaker 2: to do it, maybe something happens during the draft or
- 8:15Speaker 2: got it is a part of a big trade. I
- 8:17Speaker 2: just don't see that happening. If they thought that Goddard
- 8:21Speaker 2: should have been moved, and maybe there is something within
- 8:23Speaker 2: the salary cap that I'm not seeing, But if they
- 8:25Speaker 2: wanted to move him, I think it would have been
- 8:28Speaker 2: very recently. They would have moved them along with CJ.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Gunner Johnson. They were trying to, in my opinion, get
- 8:35Speaker 2: ready for the draft. They were trying to get ready
- 8:37Speaker 2: so we could have a million draft picks whatever I
- 8:39Speaker 2: think they have, like twenty whatever. It is an insane
- 8:42Speaker 2: amount of draft picks and just to be like, we
- 8:44Speaker 2: have the flexibility to do something. So if they wanted
- 8:47Speaker 2: to trade Goddard and get draft picks and trade him
- 8:50Speaker 2: away so they can have this flexibility, I feel like
- 8:52Speaker 2: they would have done it. I feel like they are
- 8:55Speaker 2: keeping him on there because they aren't sure if they
- 8:58Speaker 2: can get that tight end to replace him, because they
- 9:00Speaker 2: know if there was somebody waiting in the wings, if
- 9:03Speaker 2: they felt good about the tight end position, they probably
- 9:06Speaker 2: would have gone with Grant kal Katara and moved on
- 9:09Speaker 2: from from Dallas Goddard. The reason why they could have
- 9:13Speaker 2: moved on from CJ. Gunar Johnson because well, they just
- 9:16Speaker 2: got two cornerbacks, two players in the secondary in last
- 9:20Speaker 2: year's draft that are rookies on a rookie deal that
- 9:23Speaker 2: still have three years left that they can go. You
- 9:26Speaker 2: know what, I feel confident in Kooperter Jean and Quinnon,
- 9:29Speaker 2: Mitchell and read Blank and Ship that we should be fine.
- 9:33Speaker 2: We have spent enough in that position that we can
- 9:36Speaker 2: let a player like CJ. Gunder Johnson go. I don't
- 9:39Speaker 2: feel like they feel that confident that, Okay, we can
- 9:41Speaker 2: let Dallas Gotter go and we'll be fine with Grant
- 9:44Speaker 2: cal Katara. I do feel like they are trying to
- 9:46Speaker 2: figure that out. If something arises and they can maybe
- 9:50Speaker 2: trade Dallas Goddard, I'm sure that they are open to
- 9:53Speaker 2: that possibility, but I don't think at this point they
- 9:56Speaker 2: have gotten that, and I think they are maybe going
- 9:59Speaker 2: to to the position of maybe we should keep Dallas
- 10:02Speaker 2: gott It maybe it's not worth trading him away.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Yeah, you made a really good point about Grant Calcatara,
- 10:07Speaker 1: very serviceable backup. The guy can catch the ball, he
- 10:11Speaker 1: can get yards after the catch. But in terms of
- 10:13Speaker 1: the blocking, my gosh, how many times did we see
- 10:16Speaker 1: how we would just either whiff not understand his blocking schemes.
- 10:19Speaker 1: And that is a problem in this particular Ele And I'll.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Give him credit. Smooth pass catcher, very smooth pask. I've
- 10:26Speaker 2: been so surprised. So I've seen him in SMU in
- 10:28Speaker 2: Oklahoma and especially SMU because he had a head injury
- 10:32Speaker 2: and he was maybe going to be out of playing
- 10:33Speaker 2: football in general. But you could tell throughout his career
- 10:36Speaker 2: and especially at SMU on his last year that he
- 10:38Speaker 2: played in college like he was a smooth pass catcher
- 10:41Speaker 2: and it worked its way through the NFL. But he's
- 10:43Speaker 2: a little bit undersize, he's not a good blocker, and
- 10:46Speaker 2: there's just too many i think faults there to make
- 10:49Speaker 2: him the number one guy at that position.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Absolutely, you make a great point, John. Absolutely well. As
- 10:55Speaker 1: we're moving along here, we also want to look at
- 10:58Speaker 1: some other NFL teams, and we're certainly gonna be getting
- 11:01Speaker 1: into the NFC East in a little bit here. But
- 11:04Speaker 1: you know, every draft, we look at the top few picks,
- 11:08Speaker 1: what is gonna happen and how that translates into what
- 11:11Speaker 1: other teams are gonna be doing, including what the Philadelphia
- 11:15Speaker 1: Eagles may be doing at the number thirty two picks.
- 11:18Speaker 1: But when we look at some of the other teams
- 11:21Speaker 1: in this draft, how they're gonna start building their teams
- 11:24Speaker 1: for the future. Let's talk about a few and what
- 11:27Speaker 1: they may do in the first round of the draft.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I'd love to get into your thoughts, John about the Titans,
- 11:33Speaker 1: the Cleveland Browns, and of course the New York Giants,
- 11:35Speaker 1: the top three teams in this draft. Let's start with
- 11:39Speaker 1: the Titans and their first overall pick in the draft.
- 11:42Speaker 1: What direction do you think they're gonna be going.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna have to be quarterback. And at this
- 11:46Speaker 2: point I am I'm very much a Shuder guy, and
- 11:48Speaker 2: we're gonna talk about him, I guess in the next
- 11:50Speaker 2: couple of picks. Yeah, but Schador is a very polished passer.
- 11:54Speaker 2: I feel like he really fits in the NFL. It
- 11:57Speaker 2: is hard to pass up on the tools that Kim
- 12:00Speaker 2: Ward has and the kind of arm strength and arm
- 12:02Speaker 2: talent that he has, and he has shown some next
- 12:04Speaker 2: level throws in college. It's all stuff that should translate
- 12:08Speaker 2: to the NFL in the same way though that you
- 12:10Speaker 2: saw Caleb Williams. And I'm still a big Kleb Williams guy,
- 12:13Speaker 2: but it might take some time. But for Tennessee, though,
- 12:17Speaker 2: it is hard to pass up on a guy that
- 12:18Speaker 2: seems to have a lot of the physical tools that
- 12:21Speaker 2: cam Ward does and also was able to apply those
- 12:24Speaker 2: tools in Miami, which is like a step up from
- 12:27Speaker 2: Washington State, a step up, a step up from Incarnate Word,
- 12:30Speaker 2: but like Miami was an operation where he had to
- 12:34Speaker 2: maybe step up his game a little bit, and I
- 12:36Speaker 2: feel like he met all of that criteria. So cam
- 12:39Speaker 2: Ward would have to be for Tennessee the guy you
- 12:42Speaker 2: can't pass up on, somebody that you think with all
- 12:45Speaker 2: the physical tools and somebody again in college that has
- 12:48Speaker 2: shown progression throughout his career to say, nah, I don't
- 12:51Speaker 2: know if that's the guy that's gotta be the guy
- 12:53Speaker 2: for you.
- 12:53Speaker 1: At number one, all right? Number two is the Cleveland
- 12:56Speaker 1: Browns when they are on the clock, John, do you
- 13:00Speaker 1: think they're going to take This is an organization that
- 13:03Speaker 1: made terrible decision when it came to Deshaun Watson, what
- 13:05Speaker 1: they gave up to get him. They need to rebound
- 13:08Speaker 1: as a team in so many ways. How do you
- 13:09Speaker 1: think that number two overall pick is going to look
- 13:11Speaker 1: for the Browns?
- 13:14Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's where the next two picks get difficult
- 13:17Speaker 2: because it's two teams kind of handicapped by quarterback situations
- 13:20Speaker 2: that aren't very great. So Cleveland is a quarterback situation
- 13:24Speaker 2: where they have a lot of money into one guy.
- 13:26Speaker 2: New York is they need to win now, and so
- 13:28Speaker 2: they time themselves with Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson. But
- 13:32Speaker 2: I think with Cleveland, if you want to do it
- 13:35Speaker 2: the right way, you're handicapped with this quarterback that definitely
- 13:38Speaker 2: does not have the juice, definitely not good enough, that
- 13:42Speaker 2: has taken such a steep cliff down that I don't
- 13:46Speaker 2: know if the talent's there. But don't add a quarterback
- 13:48Speaker 2: into that, thinking, well, we have a lot of money
- 13:51Speaker 2: tied into it, so let's put a lot of draft
- 13:53Speaker 2: resources into it. My thing would be just get best
- 13:57Speaker 2: talent available and then you continue to work your way
- 14:00Speaker 2: out of whatever the quarterback situation is. So to me,
- 14:04Speaker 2: that would have to be Travis Hunter. Travis Hunter is
- 14:06Speaker 2: a great defensive player. I think he's going to play
- 14:08Speaker 2: seventy percent cornerback, thirty percent wide receiver, Like he's going
- 14:11Speaker 2: to play all of the defensive snaps, but he might
- 14:14Speaker 2: play thirty forty snaps offensively, and that's going to be
- 14:17Speaker 2: really beneficial because I think he's a top five prospect
- 14:21Speaker 2: probably in both areas as a wide receiver and a cornerback.
- 14:24Speaker 2: But that's the kind of player that Cleveland goes. You
- 14:26Speaker 2: know what, I get that player. That player can make
- 14:28Speaker 2: a huge impact. And then even a couple of years
- 14:31Speaker 2: down the road, whenever they figure out DeShawn Watson, then
- 14:35Speaker 2: you still have you have a great cornerback and a
- 14:36Speaker 2: wide receiver. Yeah, and then you have the quarterback to
- 14:39Speaker 2: maybe figure it out with him. So I think they're
- 14:41Speaker 2: in a position of the quarterback position is what it is,
- 14:44Speaker 2: so just continue to build build around it until you
- 14:47Speaker 2: can finally get that quarterback.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I think that's a good philosophy for sure. Moving on
- 14:52Speaker 1: to the number three overall pick. At this moment, it
- 14:55Speaker 1: is the New York Giants rival of the Philadelphia Eagle.
- 15:00Speaker 1: John your thoughts on what the Giants may do with
- 15:03Speaker 1: the number three overall pick.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I. Honestly, it's it's a weird position for them to
- 15:09Speaker 2: be in because it is a it is a GM position, yep.
- 15:13Speaker 2: And like some some coaches and all that that want
- 15:17Speaker 2: to win now, but is it it is a team
- 15:20Speaker 2: that is not even close to trying to win now.
- 15:22Speaker 2: So that's why when the Giants say, hey, we're gonna
- 15:24Speaker 2: keep Joe Shane and we're gonna keep all of these
- 15:27Speaker 2: front office people that they they have to win now.
- 15:31Speaker 2: There is a pressure for them to win, but we're
- 15:33Speaker 2: gonna keep them because we feel like they can do it.
- 15:35Speaker 2: The problem is, though you can't do it, there is
- 15:38Speaker 2: no possible You have already made so many mistakes beforehand
- 15:42Speaker 2: that you were not even close to making that.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Kind of call.
- 15:45Speaker 2: And so now I would go yet they should probably
- 15:47Speaker 2: draft shoodor shudor is the guy you need a quarterback.
- 15:50Speaker 2: They drafted Daniel Daniel Jones early. The problem with Daniel
- 15:53Speaker 2: Jones is he was kind of a project and so
- 15:55Speaker 2: they needed to figure him out a little bit, and
- 15:57Speaker 2: it turned out he wasn't very good with should all
- 16:00Speaker 2: I know, there's not maybe the highest ceiling with Chaudor, Like,
- 16:04Speaker 2: I am not going to pretend that Chador is like
- 16:06Speaker 2: the can't miss quarterback prospect, but I feel like there
- 16:10Speaker 2: is a lot of polish there. There's not many times
- 16:13Speaker 2: you were in a position, especially where the Giants are,
- 16:15Speaker 2: where you can get a quarterback that you can plug
- 16:18Speaker 2: in immediately, and I feel like the guy already has
- 16:21Speaker 2: NFL style of play, maybe again, not the physical tools
- 16:25Speaker 2: to take him to the next level. He's not Patrick
- 16:28Speaker 2: Mahomes or Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson. But I can
- 16:30Speaker 2: plug him in and maybe that guy's probably a top
- 16:33Speaker 2: fifteen quarterback. I don't know if he's gonna get anything
- 16:35Speaker 2: over that. But that's the thing is the Giants are
- 16:38Speaker 2: going forward like the home run. They need to win
- 16:40Speaker 2: now and they're not going to trust a quarterback to
- 16:42Speaker 2: do it. So offensive lineman, the LU offensive lineman probably
- 16:47Speaker 2: is the way to go. Protect Russell Wilson, yes, protect
- 16:51Speaker 2: Jamis Winston, Protect Tommy DeVito. I almost said Danny de Vito,
- 16:56Speaker 2: Tommy DeVito, like protect all of these guys in hope
- 17:00Speaker 2: to God that they can do something.
- 17:03Speaker 1: But to me, it's quarterback.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Like you you're in a good position to where you
- 17:06Speaker 2: have a a polished quarterback that you can plug in.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I think should door is a plug in right now
- 17:11Speaker 2: and play, and the Giants need that. But they went
- 17:14Speaker 2: for veteran quarterbacks, and so now they have to go
- 17:17Speaker 2: with an offensive liignment to try and protect the veteran
- 17:20Speaker 2: quarterbacks that they have, and that's the way they go.
- 17:23Speaker 2: I don't think it's the right way. Nothing the Giants
- 17:25Speaker 2: have done have been the right way.
- 17:26Speaker 1: You're absolutely correct. Yeah, the fact that Joe Shane still
- 17:29Speaker 1: has his job is absolutely astonishing to me. It really is.
- 17:33Speaker 1: It's hurting them.
- 17:34Speaker 2: It's hurting them to the point they're they're making decisions
- 17:37Speaker 2: for him to He's making a decision to keep his job,
- 17:40Speaker 2: not to help the New York Giants. That's when you
- 17:42Speaker 2: should know this whole operation is is it's done, It's
- 17:45Speaker 2: it's I think it's it's gonna it's definitely gonna be
- 17:49Speaker 2: to the point where they they're gonna have to move
- 17:51Speaker 2: on from him, and it's gonna put them back probably
- 17:53Speaker 2: a few more years.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Absolutely are yeah, absolutely completely agree with you, And I
- 17:57Speaker 1: am fine with that, as is Eagles Nation for sure.
- 18:02Speaker 1: So as we're finishing up the discussion here, John I
- 18:06Speaker 1: wanted to get into some more NFC East teams. New
- 18:09Speaker 1: York Giants were a great segue into what the Commanders
- 18:11Speaker 1: may be doing, the Cowboys may be doing. What's going
- 18:15Speaker 1: to be the direction that both of these teams are
- 18:17Speaker 1: gonna go on? On Day one of the draft again,
- 18:20Speaker 1: just talked about the Giants. What are your thoughts on
- 18:24Speaker 1: the Washington Commanders who are sitting at number twenty nine,
- 18:27Speaker 1: What do you think they're gonna be doing in this
- 18:29Speaker 1: draft and the direction they'll be going.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like they're gonna get very complacent with
- 18:35Speaker 2: their offense and maybe a little bit to a fault.
- 18:37Speaker 2: So good for Cliff Kingsbury. He came in, did a
- 18:41Speaker 2: great job. I think it was a really good fit
- 18:42Speaker 2: with Jayden Daniels, but there has been I think repeatedly
- 18:47Speaker 2: like a I think with Jane Daniels and with Kyler Murray.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I don't know if it's gonna work long term. Kyler
- 18:53Speaker 2: Murray was great his first year, but then all of
- 18:55Speaker 2: a sudden things started to really fall apart. And so
- 18:58Speaker 2: I do think that after a while, you're gonna have
- 19:01Speaker 2: to fix that offense. You're gonna have to get more
- 19:03Speaker 2: offensive lineman You're probably gonna have to add more wide
- 19:06Speaker 2: receivers outside of Tarry McLaurin, who I think was like
- 19:09Speaker 2: the biggest reason why Jane Daniels ended up being the
- 19:12Speaker 2: way he was. He had a very good vertical threat
- 19:14Speaker 2: and that's what Arry McLaren is and that's what Jane
- 19:16Speaker 2: Daniels does very well. So I think where you're gonna
- 19:18Speaker 2: need is probably offensive lineman. But I think they're gonna
- 19:21Speaker 2: go you know what, our offense is good. I think
- 19:23Speaker 2: they're gonna go defensive. The Cowboys, I couldn't tell you
- 19:27Speaker 2: like they need a running back, but would you spend
- 19:29Speaker 2: on a running back at twelve?
- 19:30Speaker 1: Number twelve? Fashion?
- 19:31Speaker 2: Jin T is the is the guys being mocked to them,
- 19:34Speaker 2: and JT is a talent that should probably be top
- 19:37Speaker 2: ten to fifteen.
- 19:37Speaker 1: It reminds you of Ezekiel Ellot coming in when he did.
- 19:41Speaker 1: It really does. And while Ezekiel Elliott was very dominate
- 19:44Speaker 1: at times during his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys, at
- 19:48Speaker 1: the end of the day, what did it do for him? Yes?
- 19:51Speaker 1: What did it do?
- 19:52Speaker 2: So? It helped Dak Prescott early, but you have a
- 19:55Speaker 2: late Dak Prescott, you have this guy needs to win
- 19:58Speaker 2: now Dak Prescott and is a running back going to
- 20:00Speaker 2: do the same thing for him early on in his
- 20:02Speaker 2: career that it did later on. So that's where I
- 20:05Speaker 2: have questions of they haven't really committed sometimes to Dak,
- 20:09Speaker 2: they haven't committed to building an offense around him.
- 20:12Speaker 1: I don't know what they've committed to.
- 20:14Speaker 2: So to me, yeah, Jaint makes sense because that's what
- 20:17Speaker 2: they've done before, and they're probably going to go. You
- 20:20Speaker 2: know what, Tac has worked well with a good running game,
- 20:22Speaker 2: and so we can get him Jint and it'll be
- 20:24Speaker 2: the same impact that Ezeko Elliott had. So I think
- 20:27Speaker 2: one hundred percent that's where they're gonna go. I don't
- 20:30Speaker 2: think that's the right way to go. They need a
- 20:32Speaker 2: lot of talent around and I'm a Dak guy. I
- 20:34Speaker 2: think that is a really good But they're gonna need
- 20:36Speaker 2: a lot more than just because I like running backs
- 20:39Speaker 2: and I thought Eagles getting a running back and Baltimore
- 20:41Speaker 2: getting running back really helped out their quarterbacks. They need
- 20:44Speaker 2: more than just helping out their quarterback. They need everything. Yes,
- 20:48Speaker 2: And to just go running back in the first round
- 20:50Speaker 2: is is just to me. It's a team that's very
- 20:54Speaker 2: short sighted and short sighted for reason, Jerry wants to
- 20:57Speaker 2: win now and a team that I think even he
- 20:59Speaker 2: is questioning, I don't even know if they can do it. Yeah,
- 21:02Speaker 2: so yeah, Dallas is in a very weird spot.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Let's let's keep these bottom feeders here in the NFC
