- 0:39Speaker 3: Hey, guys, welcome to the show today. I have a
- 0:41Speaker 3: very special guest, Jamie Bambrick. He's coming to us from
- 0:45Speaker 3: Northern Ireland. He has a new book out called Set Free.
- 0:50Speaker 3: In a world of chaos and confusion, only Jesus can
- 0:54Speaker 3: save and set you free, which is true. And Jamie,
- 0:58Speaker 3: if you don't know him, a great YouTube show. He's
- 1:02Speaker 3: very theologically sound and he's very funny you'll see. And
- 1:10Speaker 3: he's been in pastoral ministry forever a decade.
- 1:14Speaker 1: But first award from our sponsor. So please welcome Jamie Bamber.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Top of the Morning to you, Top.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Of the Evening to you.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Yes, it's eight hours ahead there, so I think it's
- 1:28Speaker 3: it's pretty late there.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Yeah. I like to be old things to old man,
- 1:31Speaker 4: so it's fun.
- 1:33Speaker 3: So before we get into your book, your new book
- 1:38Speaker 3: that just came out recently, By the way, when did it.
- 1:40Speaker 1: It came out a couple few months ago.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Right, came out? So let's see, we came out in
- 1:46Speaker 4: the last week of book too. Where so but six
- 1:48Speaker 4: weeks ago at the time of recording.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Yeah, so, oh okay. And it's called set Free.
- 1:53Speaker 3: In a world of chaos and confusion, only Jesus can
- 1:55Speaker 3: save and set you free. And what you said is
- 1:59Speaker 3: what recipretated this book was your response to the ad
- 2:06Speaker 3: the Super Bowl ads He gets us. We talk about
- 2:09Speaker 3: that response that you had to talk about. Well, tell
- 2:12Speaker 3: us what remind us what that ad was about, and
- 2:15Speaker 3: then tell us what your response was.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Yeah, so the original he gets us out. I was
- 2:19Speaker 4: watching the Super Bowl about just coming up on two
- 2:23Speaker 4: years ago now, I think it was February time, and
- 2:27Speaker 4: we watched American football over here. I played rugby, so
- 2:29Speaker 4: you know, we kind of similar thing, and guys who
- 2:31Speaker 4: play rugby kind of like American football. So I was
- 2:36Speaker 4: watching it and there was this odd put out by
- 2:39Speaker 4: this Christian organization who I do believe actually the backers
- 2:43Speaker 4: of this thing. I think it was the hobby lobby
- 2:44Speaker 4: guys who are by all accounts well spoken of and
- 2:47Speaker 4: fund a lot of good stuff that funded this ad
- 2:51Speaker 4: that was essentially a kind of woke representation of Jesus.
- 2:56Speaker 4: And so there were different images. It was all still
- 2:59Speaker 4: image that popped up on the screen, and some of
- 3:03Speaker 4: them were sort of not too bad, but others were
- 3:08Speaker 4: sort of objectionable from a Christian perspective. So, for instance,
- 3:11Speaker 4: you had an image of a woman who was outside
- 3:14Speaker 4: of an abortion clinic, either about to go in or
- 3:18Speaker 4: had just come out as a patient, so either about
- 3:21Speaker 4: to have an abortion or had just had one, and
- 3:24Speaker 4: you have an image of sort of nasty protesters in
- 3:27Speaker 4: the background, and then you have someone there washing her
- 3:30Speaker 4: fate outside, you know, the nice person washing her fate
- 3:33Speaker 4: outside the clinic. The final image of it was of
- 3:38Speaker 4: a man who clearly was either in a gay or
- 3:40Speaker 4: transgender lifestyle you can just tell from dress sense, etc.
- 3:43Speaker 4: And demeanor. And then you had a man in a
- 3:46Speaker 4: priest caller washing his fate. And that led to the
- 3:50Speaker 4: closing line, which is Jesus doesn't teach hat he washes feet.
- 3:55Speaker 4: And this caused a lot of outcry among Christians, and
- 3:57Speaker 4: I think rightly so, because number one, I think portrays
- 4:00Speaker 4: the church inaccurately of saying that Christians that are calling
- 4:04Speaker 4: people out of these lifestyles are teaching hate. But worse
- 4:08Speaker 4: than that, it's also a false reflection of the Gospel,
- 4:12Speaker 4: which is that if Jesus comes into our sinful world,
- 4:17Speaker 4: and which of course he did, but if he were
- 4:20Speaker 4: to show up today in the flesh, that the only
- 4:22Speaker 4: thing he would have to say to people living in
- 4:24Speaker 4: sin is I empathize with you. You know, I'm just
- 4:28Speaker 4: here to generally be nice and broadly affirm everything you're doing,
- 4:33Speaker 4: which is, of course, you know, a false reflection of
- 4:35Speaker 4: the Gospel. So a couple of days later I had
- 4:41Speaker 4: an idea of sort of releasing a quick response to this.
- 4:45Speaker 4: So I did a series again of still images with
- 4:48Speaker 4: the same music, and it was of different people who
- 4:51Speaker 4: had come out of sinful lifestyles and had come the
- 4:53Speaker 4: faith in Christ and were now walking in freedom. And
- 4:55Speaker 4: so there were different figures in there. There was a
- 4:57Speaker 4: former so you had a former g Hardie, You had
- 5:01Speaker 4: a former lesbian activist Rosaria Butterfield. All these people are
- 5:04Speaker 4: not in this book. You had Laura Perry Small's formally transgender.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Didn't just go for those areas as well. There were
- 5:11Speaker 4: people in a former KK member or KKK member one
- 5:16Speaker 4: or two others. Can't actually even remember all of them
- 5:18Speaker 4: off the top of my head, but that just went
- 5:20Speaker 4: sort of pretty pretty wildly viral, you know, because I
- 5:24Speaker 4: think and then actually, yes, sorry, I closed it with
- 5:28Speaker 4: Jesus doesn't just get us, he saves us. And the
- 5:33Speaker 4: original ad was called he gets Us, so people knew
- 5:36Speaker 4: what it was in reference too, And and I went
- 5:39Speaker 4: then to that scripture closing line of it was such
- 5:43Speaker 4: worse some of you from First Corinthians chapter six, which
- 5:47Speaker 4: I think is a more accurate reflection of the Gospel
- 5:49Speaker 4: and more accurate reflection of the churches as we celebrate
- 5:52Speaker 4: people coming out of these lives that we love these people,
- 5:54Speaker 4: we want to see them rescued, just as we have
- 5:56Speaker 4: been rescued from our sins. We want to see that
- 5:58Speaker 4: for the whole world. And of course I think it's
- 6:01Speaker 4: more accurate reflection of the Gospel that Jesus comes into
- 6:03Speaker 4: this world not to merely affirm it in its sin,
- 6:06Speaker 4: but to rescue from it. This gets you know, a
- 6:08Speaker 4: few million views, people like Charlie Kirk, Ted Cruz, et cetera,
- 6:12Speaker 4: retweeting it. Like I thought it was nice for them
- 6:15Speaker 4: to finally meet someone with real clout and you know,
- 6:18Speaker 4: sort of prominence like me, so that you know, they
- 6:24Speaker 4: all were sharing it, and it leads to me getting
- 6:28Speaker 4: in touch with Mark Hopson, who's my co author in this.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Actually he gets in touch with me. He has a
- 6:32Speaker 4: wonderful evangelistic organization. We're reaching into the public schools actually
- 6:38Speaker 4: in America, which, as I'm sure you well know, is
- 6:41Speaker 4: a very hostile environment for Christians. But they wanted to
- 6:45Speaker 4: get these stories in there, so we did a whole
- 6:47Speaker 4: video series of those testimonies, or many of the testimonies
- 6:51Speaker 4: from that video, we did these counterpart things with that
- 6:55Speaker 4: where we were giving some cultural apologetics, a biblical case
- 7:00Speaker 4: for you know, why these things are sinful and also
- 7:03Speaker 4: why you can walk in freedom from those areas, whatever
- 7:08Speaker 4: they may be. And then we ended up that ended
- 7:11Speaker 4: up doing again sort of mega numbers, you know, so
- 7:14Speaker 4: on their YouTube channel Decision Points, you know, these have
- 7:18Speaker 4: got five six hundred thousand views each these testimonies, and
- 7:23Speaker 4: you know, hundreds of millions of impressions on social media
- 7:26Speaker 4: stuff like that, which is really cool, and so we thought,
- 7:29Speaker 4: well we'll put it into a book as well, which
- 7:31Speaker 4: is now what we have here, which has been great. Yeah.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I love the book.
- 7:37Speaker 3: And so the book is basically it contains the stories
- 7:42Speaker 3: of these individuals who have been saved out of whatever
- 7:46Speaker 3: you know, lifestyles and whatever that is. But there's I
- 7:50Speaker 3: want to ask you, because there's a section in the
- 7:53Speaker 3: book you say, I want to talk about this for
- 7:56Speaker 3: a second. You say God is the best way before
- 7:58Speaker 3: we get into the stories I want to talk about.
- 8:01Speaker 3: You say God is the best way to explain the world.
- 8:05Speaker 3: And there I think there are three points in this
- 8:08Speaker 3: and you and these are kind of you know, these
- 8:10Speaker 3: are large points that could be books in themselves, but
- 8:14Speaker 3: I just want to kind of touch on these because
- 8:17Speaker 3: first you say the world must have a cause. Second,
- 8:21Speaker 3: you say evolution is false. Uh, and then third thirdly,
- 8:25Speaker 3: you say for evil to exist, God must exist. So
- 8:29Speaker 3: can you just tease that out just a little briefly
- 8:32Speaker 3: for us, because I think these are really important concepts
- 8:35Speaker 3: for believers to understand.
- 8:38Speaker 1: So the world must have a cause.
- 8:41Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, so everything that begins to exist must have
- 8:45Speaker 4: a cause. Right there is we knew that everything cannot
- 8:50Speaker 4: come from simply nothing, and we also know that the
- 8:53Speaker 4: universe had a beginning and Christians will disagree over over
- 8:57Speaker 4: the timing of that, but there's no disagreement in that
- 9:00Speaker 4: that is the case. And what that requires then is
- 9:04Speaker 4: you have to have something that pre existed, that which
- 9:09Speaker 4: was turn is eternal and timeless in nature because without
- 9:13Speaker 4: a universe, without space, you don't have time. And it's
- 9:16Speaker 4: also all powerful, able to create everything from absolutely nothing,
- 9:23Speaker 4: and also infinitely wise actually as well, because you look
- 9:26Speaker 4: at the structure of the universe and if you change
- 9:29Speaker 4: you know, any of it by you know, a fraction
- 9:31Speaker 4: of a percent, it all falls apart. In life becomes impossible.
- 9:34Speaker 4: So so so the universe has to have a cause,
- 9:37Speaker 4: which means that that there must be a God.
- 9:40Speaker 1: We'll be right back after this short break.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Secondly, you know, Alams, it's like Colam's argument, right, it's
- 9:48Speaker 3: Colam's cosmological argument.
- 9:49Speaker 4: That's what it is for those for the for the initiative. Yeah,
- 9:51Speaker 4: that's exactly what it is, and so so God must
- 9:55Speaker 4: therefore exist. Secondly, yeah, I mean evolution is is one
- 10:00Speaker 4: of those things that's that's taught us. Fact. We have
- 10:03Speaker 4: a number of different issues with that, but I think
- 10:06Speaker 4: I think one that is perhaps the most interesting in
- 10:11Speaker 4: that regard is that if we came about by a
- 10:20Speaker 4: process of just millions and millions of years of death
- 10:26Speaker 4: and violence and of nature red in tooth and claw,
- 10:31Speaker 4: as it has been described, then ideas such as humans
- 10:36Speaker 4: suffering being wrong, or the idea that there's something wrong
- 10:39Speaker 4: with the world whenever we see pain and suffering, I
- 10:43Speaker 4: actually think that we would never come to that conclusion,
- 10:46Speaker 4: which which is this innate human reaction that this should
- 10:49Speaker 4: not be. So if we came about.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Three tortures, like we shouldn't torture puppies, is kind of like, yes, yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Yes, exactly. You know, humans, humans are agreed that that
- 11:03Speaker 4: that there is something wrong whenever there's pain and suffering
- 11:06Speaker 4: within we all have that innate reactions like oh, that's terrible,
- 11:09Speaker 4: like and and people use that to reject God, but
- 11:11Speaker 4: actually I think it's a stronger rejection of evolutionary. You
- 11:14Speaker 4: can make many other arguments against evolution, but I think
- 11:17Speaker 4: if if all of human progress and existence and everything
- 11:21Speaker 4: that we see today came about as a result of that,
- 11:23Speaker 4: the horror that we sort of innately experienced when we
- 11:27Speaker 4: see terrible things happening would be essentially impossible because because
- 11:31Speaker 4: that is literally the soul driver of every point of
- 11:36Speaker 4: natural development if in an evolutionary worldview, and then the
- 11:41Speaker 4: third one there, Sorry, it was about it's about that
- 11:45Speaker 4: for evil to exist, able to exist, Yes, so I
- 11:49Speaker 4: think it ties into into that somewhat, But it's kind
- 11:54Speaker 4: of the natural outflow of that, which is, you know,
- 11:57Speaker 4: some people will reject God because of you know, the
- 12:01Speaker 4: problem of evil. The fact is that if there is
- 12:05Speaker 4: no God, you have no ultimate standard of good or evil.
- 12:10Speaker 4: So if there is no God, everything that exists is
- 12:14Speaker 4: just atoms bouncing around in different forms. We're just different
- 12:18Speaker 4: clumps of atoms. And that's all, literally everything is. And
- 12:21Speaker 4: even human beings who we like very much are just
- 12:26Speaker 4: a clump of atoms at the end of it. And
- 12:28Speaker 4: what happens to them is simply what one group of
- 12:31Speaker 4: atoms is doing to another group of atoms. Even their
- 12:34Speaker 4: own personal subjective experience of pain is literally just atoms
- 12:39Speaker 4: bouncing around in their head. It's just someone put it
- 12:41Speaker 4: this way, brain juice fizzing, which I quite like the
- 12:43Speaker 4: idea of. And it's no more than that, And pain
- 12:47Speaker 4: and suffering is nothing more than that. And there's no
- 12:51Speaker 4: objective metric by which that can be considered wrong or false.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Or again something that should not be Sover someone appeals
- 13:01Speaker 4: to the problem of evil in their attempts to reject God,
- 13:06Speaker 4: which many people do. Actually, I think they're stealing from God.
- 13:09Speaker 4: They're borrowing from this idea that there is an objective
- 13:12Speaker 4: standard of good and evil. And I think whenever you know,
- 13:16Speaker 4: so I've had we've been doing recent evangelism outside the
- 13:19Speaker 4: university here in Belfast, and a lot of people coming
- 13:23Speaker 4: with that problem and you probe and you go, where
- 13:26Speaker 4: do where do you get the idea of evil from?
- 13:28Speaker 4: They can't actually respond to it. They tend to collapse
- 13:32Speaker 4: pretty quickly whenever you probe that, and you go, well, actually,
- 13:35Speaker 4: think you're you're stealing from God himself in order to
- 13:38Speaker 4: argue against God. So yeah, that's I think that's important
- 13:41Speaker 4: groundwork for anything, for any argument for God. But certainly
- 13:46Speaker 4: yeah in this case as well.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that's I like that, And I wanted to ask
- 13:51Speaker 3: you about this. We're not going to talk about where.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Sorry Aboutterfield's story because she's been on the show several
- 13:57Speaker 3: times and people know her story from the show. But
- 14:00Speaker 3: she I don't know if you said this and or
- 14:03Speaker 3: she if these are her words, But I want to
- 14:06Speaker 3: just touch on this for a second, because she says
- 14:09Speaker 3: there are two presuppositions about homosexuality. The first one is
- 14:14Speaker 3: she says, I don't know if this is you or her,
- 14:16Speaker 3: but she says the gay lifestyle is as normal and
- 14:19Speaker 3: healthy as a heterosexual one. Now, what's interesting to me
- 14:23Speaker 3: about this? And I think a couple other people have
- 14:28Speaker 3: have done videos on this, or I've seen at least one,
- 14:32Speaker 3: and I've been thinking about this for years, But people
- 14:35Speaker 3: like JK Rowling and Dave Rubin get apoplectic about the
- 14:41Speaker 3: trans insanity, but they don't seem to do the same
- 14:45Speaker 3: with homosexual behavior.
- 14:49Speaker 1: So what is that? What is that all about?
- 14:52Speaker 4: Why?
- 14:53Speaker 3: Why aren't they just as outraged at Like Dave Rubin
- 14:58Speaker 3: If people don't know who he is, he's he has
- 15:00Speaker 3: a huge YouTube or podcast, YouTube show, and he has
- 15:04Speaker 3: he's a gay man. He's married to another man. They
- 15:07Speaker 3: have I think two children by surrogacy. But so, why
- 15:14Speaker 3: do you think that people like JK Rowling and Dave
- 15:17Speaker 3: Rubin are outraged by trans insanity but don't even don't
- 15:21Speaker 3: seem to be outraged by homosexual behavior?
- 15:26Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, good question. So firstly, just to collaborate, Yes,
- 15:29Speaker 4: that's actually our point, my point in so I wrote
- 15:32Speaker 4: that chapter and it contains rosarious story, but that's in
- 15:35Speaker 4: my little section introducing the topic. So yeah, I think
- 15:41Speaker 4: I think it comes back to the idea that the
- 15:44Speaker 4: world has successfully catechized a generation, probably a couple of
- 15:48Speaker 4: generations at this point, into that firm conviction that you're
- 15:54Speaker 4: kind of born this way and that there is nothing
- 15:58Speaker 4: wrong with it and can be nothing wrong with it.
- 16:01Speaker 4: And there's been a real propaganda war on on the
- 16:06Speaker 4: you know, the whole of Western society to to accept homosexuality,
- 16:13Speaker 4: which which has then led to transgenderism being accepted. And
- 16:16Speaker 4: I think there's a reason why people are sort of
- 16:19Speaker 4: waking up a little bit more on the t of
- 16:22Speaker 4: the LGBT exactly. I was going to reference that book
- 16:25Speaker 4: after the ball having a physical. That's a that's an
- 16:27Speaker 4: expensive book to buy a.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Pastor, a pastor I spoken to church in.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Where was it Kalamazoo and the pastor is such a
- 16:39Speaker 3: sweet guy and he actually bought me that.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I think it was like seven under He's expensive.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's really expressive. I have, I have I
- 16:49Speaker 4: don't know if I should admit this on a podcast.
- 16:51Speaker 4: I find a pdf version online that you can access
- 16:53Speaker 4: and is cheaper. So I've read it in the in
- 16:56Speaker 4: the PDF version, which I don't know if he's legal,
- 16:59Speaker 4: but there you go. That's so I have read it.
- 17:01Speaker 4: So that so sorry for do you have Do you
- 17:04Speaker 4: have listeners or do you does everybody watch because people
- 17:07Speaker 4: that have are listening or not getting what we're talking
- 17:10Speaker 4: about it.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Yes, where there are we have listeners as well.
- 17:13Speaker 4: Yeah you have audio only?
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I just I just showed the book After
- 17:17Speaker 3: the Ball, which was written by two gay men from Harvard,
- 17:21Speaker 3: Marshall Kirk and Hunter Mattson, And this was published in
- 17:25Speaker 3: nineteen eighty nine, I believe, and the subtitle of the
- 17:28Speaker 3: book is how How America Will conquer its fear and
- 17:31Speaker 3: hatred of gays in the nineties.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I've done a couple episodes on this book.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but basically everything they their whole strategy in this
- 17:42Speaker 3: book worked out. All it all came to pass and
- 17:47Speaker 3: completely normalized homosexual behavior.
- 17:50Speaker 1: And yes, not only in America but in the West,
- 17:53Speaker 1: in the West.
- 17:53Speaker 4: And actually they they so I actually have the quote
- 17:55Speaker 4: in front of me. I just happened to turn it.
- 17:57Speaker 4: I've got the book here, and I've got one of
- 17:59Speaker 4: the quotes from it, which, as we argue, this is
- 18:00Speaker 4: from their book After the Ball, so as we argue
- 18:03Speaker 4: that for all practical purposes, gay should be considered to
- 18:06Speaker 4: have been born gay, even though sexual orientation for most
- 18:09Speaker 4: humans seems to be a product of complex of a
- 18:12Speaker 4: complex interaction between innate predispositions and environmental factors during childhood
- 18:17Speaker 4: and early adolescens. And basically saying we know you're not
- 18:20Speaker 4: born this way. You know that that that may be
- 18:23Speaker 4: something of a factor, but it's not the sole factor.
- 18:26Speaker 4: But we do not want that to be known. We
- 18:28Speaker 4: want it to be considered that it is a born
- 18:30Speaker 4: this way thing, and and in the in the cultural
- 18:36Speaker 4: milieu in which we live, that does seem that is
- 18:38Speaker 4: the accepted thing. You know, everybody, if you ask, you know,
- 18:42Speaker 4: well what about that, they will quote the great philosopher
- 18:44Speaker 4: of our time, Lady Gaga, and say, well, born this way,
- 18:48Speaker 4: you know, that's that's where they'll go. The transgenderism thing,
- 18:53Speaker 4: I think is a harder pill to swallow for most people,
- 18:55Speaker 4: and it really does, you know, people people are struggle
- 19:01Speaker 4: to accept that just as much because because it really
- 19:05Speaker 4: does push it into some extreme places. But it's all
- 19:08Speaker 4: coming out of the same route really, which is a
- 19:12Speaker 4: rejection of the natural created order of male and female
- 19:17Speaker 4: and of gender binary, and of those things being complementary
- 19:21Speaker 4: but distinct. And so yeah, I think that's why people
- 19:26Speaker 4: are maybe rejecting the T. I think we'll probably see
- 19:29Speaker 4: more of that. I think we'll see more rejection of
- 19:31Speaker 4: the T and LGBT. But with people trying to hold
- 19:34Speaker 4: onto the lg and the B. The problem is, whilst
- 19:38Speaker 4: there is some logical incoherence there as well, ultimately it
- 19:42Speaker 4: is going back to that same route, which is a
- 19:46Speaker 4: rejection of nature. And of course ultimately we would say,
- 19:49Speaker 4: you know scripture as well, which is very clear on
- 19:51Speaker 4: this matter.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Well, in the LGBTQ plus in the plus, what do
- 19:56Speaker 3: you think in twenty years, maybe ten years will be
- 20:00Speaker 3: normalize new thing will be normalized.
- 20:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I think they're already trying to do so.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Which so it seems like, you know, you have this
- 20:10Speaker 4: movement to sort of what do you call it, curates
- 20:15Speaker 4: or to fix the image of a pedophilia and turn
- 20:18Speaker 4: it into you know, maps some minor attracted persons. You know,
- 20:23Speaker 4: there's there is something along those lines that's happening. You're
- 20:27Speaker 4: also seeing people identifying as different ages, usually as part
- 20:34Speaker 4: of some sort of sexual fetish that seems to be
- 20:37Speaker 4: happening as well. I think you can easily get into
- 20:41Speaker 4: bestiality polyamory. Polyamory is probably the next one to go.
- 20:45Speaker 4: I think, well, you know what if it's if it's
- 20:47Speaker 4: not male and female, If it can be male and male,
- 20:50Speaker 4: why on earth does it have to be too, Why
- 20:52Speaker 4: does it have to be monogamous? So these are all
- 20:55Speaker 4: inevitable dominoes that will fall, and not sure in exactly
- 20:59Speaker 4: what we're or I think there probably will be sufficient.
- 21:06Speaker 4: I think you can only fight nature so long that
- 21:09Speaker 4: until people do reject it in some way. So I'm
- 21:12Speaker 4: not surprised that there's pushback over transgenderism. So whether that
- 21:16Speaker 4: movement succeeds, I think is is not guaranteed, even without
- 21:21Speaker 4: some sort of big revival. I just think people people
- 21:25Speaker 4: tend to notice that this is insane. But nonetheless that's
- 21:30Speaker 4: certainly the direction of travel and part of the same logical,
- 21:34Speaker 4: you know, conclusion that you're going to come come out
- 21:37Speaker 4: with if you if you reject creation and scripture.
- 21:42Speaker 3: But do you think the societal acceptance of homosexual behavior
- 21:46Speaker 3: will somehow be reversed or is that just it's too
- 21:50Speaker 3: late now for that.
- 21:52Speaker 4: And not necessarily I think I think there might be
- 21:54Speaker 4: some pushback. I think it's there's stats recently showing that
- 21:58Speaker 4: amongst young men, support for same sex marriage has decreased slightly. Again,
- 22:04Speaker 4: what level of decrease that will be, what's the cause
- 22:07Speaker 4: of that kind of hard to tell. Some of it
- 22:10Speaker 4: might be a return to Christianity in the UK. It
- 22:13Speaker 4: could well be the rise of Islam that actually, you know,
- 22:17Speaker 4: pushes back on that. That could be a factor as well.
- 22:22Speaker 4: So yeah, I don't sort of I can't predict what's
- 22:25Speaker 4: going to have, what I'm going to do next week,
- 22:27Speaker 4: never mind what the entirety of society. You can sort
- 22:29Speaker 4: of go hear some logical potential consequences. What will definitely
- 22:32Speaker 4: play out is harder to say. I think there could
- 22:35Speaker 4: be pushed back, and I think this sort of quiet
- 22:39Speaker 4: revival idea that we're seeing in the UK. Don't know
- 22:42Speaker 4: if you've heard of that in the States, but a
- 22:45Speaker 4: significant return to church among young men actually who have
- 22:50Speaker 4: sort of I think it's about our five or six
- 22:52Speaker 4: times more likely today to go to church than they
- 22:56Speaker 4: were in twenty eighteen. So a six year period we've
- 22:59Speaker 4: seen five x increase of young men attending church. I
- 23:03Speaker 4: think part of that is precipitated by the cultural madness
- 23:07Speaker 4: that we're seeing, and people are looking for some sort
- 23:10Speaker 4: of grinding in reality, some sort of foundation for society.
- 23:14Speaker 4: So it could well swing back the other way and
- 23:17Speaker 4: actually work to reform and revitalize the church. I don't
- 23:22Speaker 4: like to say that it definitely will either, because that
- 23:24Speaker 4: could be a short lived blip as well, but there
- 23:28Speaker 4: are multiple ways it could play out.
- 23:30Speaker 3: We need discipleship and so what's the general in Northern Ireland,
- 23:35Speaker 3: what's the general attitude towards.
- 23:38Speaker 1: LGBTQ stuff.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Yeah, so Northern Ireland is probably one of the more
- 23:43Speaker 4: it's definitely one of the more conservative and Christian places
- 23:47Speaker 4: in the UK and probably Western Europe. Now that is
- 23:51Speaker 4: damning with faint praise, because there is not exactly a
- 23:55Speaker 4: bastard of conservatism to be in this part of the world.
- 23:59Speaker 4: There is definitely a little bit more cultural resistance to
- 24:04Speaker 4: these things. There's higher levels of church attendance in Northern Ireland,
- 24:09Speaker 4: so we're roughly about about twenty five percent of the
- 24:12Speaker 4: population here our church attenders on a regular basis, so
- 24:16Speaker 4: very very high by sort of UK standards, still fighting
- 24:21Speaker 4: all the same battle, still getting the same cultural pushback,
- 24:25Speaker 4: still getting you know, the political challenges in that regard
- 24:30Speaker 4: as well. One of the challenges we're facing is that
- 24:33Speaker 4: we have we have a local government similar to say
- 24:36Speaker 4: a state government in the US, but also there's Westminster,
- 24:41Speaker 4: the Parliament in London oversees a lot of our legislation
- 24:46Speaker 4: here and they're pushing this stuff really hard, literally last week.
- 24:50Speaker 4: We've always been blessed to have been able to teach
- 24:53Speaker 4: Christianity in our schools. So in religious education in Northern Ireland,
- 24:58Speaker 4: you're permitted to teach Christianity and to do so actually
- 25:01Speaker 4: in a way that is advocating for it, like saying
- 25:04Speaker 4: this is better and this is true. They literally the
- 25:07Speaker 4: UK Supreme Court just last what is it, probably about
- 25:11Speaker 4: two weeks ago, and I ruled that that was no
- 25:14Speaker 4: longer the case and that if you teach about Christianity
- 25:17Speaker 4: you must do so in a critical and pluralistic manner.
- 25:20Speaker 4: So we get a lot of challenges too, but we're
- 25:24Speaker 4: also also a bit more uncouth. We're not as polite
- 25:27Speaker 4: as the Brits, and therefore we sort of speak our
- 25:31Speaker 4: minds a little bit more forthrightly, which for issues like
- 25:34Speaker 4: this works in our favor. So I'm not giving up
- 25:37Speaker 4: hope on Northern Ireland in particular going in a better
- 25:41Speaker 4: direction or maybe at least being slower to take up
- 25:45Speaker 4: these things. For instance, we didn't have gay marriage in
- 25:48Speaker 4: Northern Ireland until twenty nineteen because the local government stopped
- 25:53Speaker 4: that from happening. It was actually the British Parliament that
- 25:55Speaker 4: forced that upon the province. So there's a little bit
- 25:58Speaker 4: more of an immune system and resistance here, but nonetheless
- 26:01Speaker 4: it's a very serious challenge that we're facing, like everywhere
- 26:04Speaker 4: else in the West at this point.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Yeah, when you mentioned religious studies, it reminds me of
- 26:11Speaker 3: my old friend, literally old friend Dick Lucas, who's a
- 26:14Speaker 3: hundred I think he's one hundred years old. He's he
- 26:17Speaker 3: wrote a very sweet blurb on my book. He talks
- 26:23Speaker 3: about that, I think in the seventies or eighties he
- 26:25Speaker 3: talked about how in England in the UK, in.
- 26:31Speaker 1: The schools and the public schools.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Or probably I don't know what they're called, how you
- 26:34Speaker 3: describe because public schools are private schools there, but yes,
- 26:39Speaker 3: in the state schools it went from kind of Christian
- 26:44Speaker 3: teaching to religious studies, which was that was kind of
- 26:49Speaker 3: the in the beginning of the end in the UK. Okay,
- 26:55Speaker 3: so let's talk about the good news because God saves right.
- 27:01Speaker 1: And let's talk about a few of.
- 27:04Speaker 3: The a couple of the stories in your book which
- 27:07Speaker 3: are amazing. And I'm you know, it's like this whole
- 27:13Speaker 3: the world is falling apart, but we know, I mean,
- 27:17Speaker 3: I know for in my life, I was in this category.
- 27:21Speaker 3: I was in the LGBT category, and God plucked me
- 27:25Speaker 3: out of that and pulled me into his marvelous light
- 27:29Speaker 3: and said that was sixteen years ago, and I'm forever
- 27:31Speaker 3: grateful for that. And just I'm still I mean, I
- 27:36Speaker 3: always talk about this, but I'm still just in shock
- 27:41Speaker 3: that got out of all the people in Los Angeles.
- 27:44Speaker 3: God was like, I'm going to just pull you into
- 27:47Speaker 3: my kingdom and out of that life, like I'm just
- 27:49Speaker 3: going to grab you, and he it was just I'm
- 27:52Speaker 3: still stunned by Its shocking. It's a shocking thing to
- 27:55Speaker 3: be chosen by the King of the universe. But let's
- 28:02Speaker 3: talk about a couple of people.
- 28:06Speaker 1: First.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Let's talk about Josh who was a former atheist, who
- 28:09Speaker 3: worked with Richard, who helped who worked with Richard Dawkins
- 28:14Speaker 3: talk about his story.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Yeah, so Josh is a really interesting story. He actually
- 28:18Speaker 4: grew up in a sort of Christian home, but was
- 28:21Speaker 4: nominal himself and drifted away from the faith in his
- 28:24Speaker 4: teen years. And then he reads Richard Dawkins's book The
- 28:28Speaker 4: Selfish Gene, which advocates for for you know, evolution, and
- 28:34Speaker 4: argues he's an evangelist free atheism. Really. At this point
- 28:37Speaker 4: Dawkins and Josh is fascinated by this, thinks this is brilliant,
- 28:45Speaker 4: and then you know, he starts to search around on
- 28:48Speaker 4: the internet and going, well, how can I find out
- 28:51Speaker 4: more about Richard Dawkins realizes he doesn't have a website,
- 28:54Speaker 4: so he emails Richard Dawkins says, look, we need to
- 28:58Speaker 4: get your your matis reel out there. Would you mind
- 29:01Speaker 4: if I built you a website, which which Rickard Richardawkins
- 29:06Speaker 4: goes yes, and so he ends up actually becoming the
- 29:08Speaker 4: sort of Richard Dawkins right hand guy. Really, when it
- 29:11Speaker 4: comes to to kind of his I almost use the
- 29:14Speaker 4: word term ministry. What what what's the atheist version of
- 29:18Speaker 4: of whatever Dawkins is doing his his his his advocated
- 29:24Speaker 4: his anti ministry exactly. So he creates this website, he
- 29:28Speaker 4: goes in films with him in the Galapagos, islas he
- 29:31Speaker 4: does all of these things. He's he's the guy that's
- 29:33Speaker 4: that's running the whole thing and getting all of this
- 29:36Speaker 4: material out there. But you know so, and he's very,
- 29:42Speaker 4: very convinced of it. He's completely convinced atheist and well
- 29:44Speaker 4: trusted by Dawkins and and it's just part of this
- 29:48Speaker 4: new atheist movement at its absolute zenith, and he's an
- 29:51Speaker 4: important figure within it himself. From that kind of practical
- 29:55Speaker 4: and media side of things, cracks begin to show a
- 30:00Speaker 4: little bit when he gives birth. He gives birth, his
- 30:03Speaker 4: wife gives birth to their daughter. The daughter is premature,
- 30:09Speaker 4: and he recognizes his immense love for this tiny little
- 30:17Speaker 4: girl and realizes that he doesn't really think that she's
- 30:22Speaker 4: just a clump of Adams and nothing more. And he
- 30:25Speaker 4: cannot reconcile his innate understanding of human value and worth
- 30:33Speaker 4: with what he aspoises in his atheism. And so that's
- 30:38Speaker 4: the first little crack. The next one then comes along
- 30:42Speaker 4: actually in twenty twenty, because he's living in Portland Oregon,
- 30:47Speaker 4: which I'm sure you're aware of and most of the
- 30:49Speaker 4: audience will be. But for anybody that isn't And I'm
- 30:52Speaker 4: not an American, but even I know that Portland, Oregon
- 30:55Speaker 4: is again not a conservative spot. And in twenty twenty,
- 30:59Speaker 4: when rather nuts and so they had I think it
- 31:03Speaker 4: was well over one hundred days of rioting and it
- 31:06Speaker 4: was just you know, people getting shot, buildings getting torched,
- 31:13Speaker 4: and and the thing that actually sort of really shifts
- 31:17Speaker 4: for Josh in that time period is is this sense
- 31:22Speaker 4: of there is real, supernatural evil. He was convinced that
- 31:27Speaker 4: this wasn't just natural, that there was something supernatural going
- 31:31Speaker 4: on here. And again I don't know that he would
- 31:33Speaker 4: have officially accepted the word devil, but he recognized that
- 31:38Speaker 4: there was something really real and very dark about all
- 31:42Speaker 4: of this, and yet yeah, just just didn't again in
- 31:48Speaker 4: his atheistic worldview, have have an answer for that. And
- 31:53Speaker 4: what ends up happening is they move, and they moved
- 31:57Speaker 4: to if if Portland, Oregon is on one end of
- 32:02Speaker 4: the spectrum, Waco, Texas is probably on the other when
- 32:06Speaker 4: it comes to the conservative political divide. So they end
- 32:08Speaker 4: up moving to Waco, Texas, and they want to make friends.
- 32:13Speaker 4: They want to get to know people. So what do
- 32:15Speaker 4: you do, Well, if you're in Waco, Texas, you go
- 32:17Speaker 4: to church. And so they walk into a cowboy church,
- 32:22Speaker 4: which is just I don't even know what that is,
- 32:24Speaker 4: but it sounds amazing. So they go to Cowboy Church
- 32:29Speaker 4: and they're there and they're just there for the social
- 32:32Speaker 4: side of things. But as they're there, they begin to
- 32:36Speaker 4: sort of go, oh, there's definitely something to this. So
- 32:39Speaker 4: then he begins to read some other books. He reads
- 32:41Speaker 4: Cold Case Christianity and The Case for Christ and becomes
- 32:46Speaker 4: convinced that Jesus was raised from the dead and becomes
- 32:53Speaker 4: a Christian, which I just think is literally the most
- 32:55Speaker 4: ironic thing that Richard Dawkins right hand guy got saved
- 32:58Speaker 4: in Cowboy Church. Love how God does that, you know,
- 33:01Speaker 4: the foolish things of the world to confine the wise.
- 33:04Speaker 4: Just a beautiful story. I now he works using same
- 33:08Speaker 4: filmmaking and media skills, but to help churches with their
- 33:12Speaker 4: ministries and fundraising. So I love how God's just brought
- 33:15Speaker 4: that story full circle. Really is. It's one of my
- 33:17Speaker 4: favorite stories in the whole book, for sure.
- 33:20Speaker 3: I did Richard Dawkins ever, did they ever stay in contact.
- 33:23Speaker 3: And did he tell Richardawkins that he was now a Christian.
- 33:27Speaker 4: Yeah, he's attempted to reach out to him. I don't
- 33:29Speaker 4: think he's heard much back. He ended up between his
- 33:34Speaker 4: daughter and the twenty twenty thing. He'd stepped away from
- 33:37Speaker 4: working with. Dawkins just went into another line of work. So,
- 33:41Speaker 4: you know, not on bad terms with him or anything.
- 33:45Speaker 4: But yes, I don't know if Richard has specifically said much.
- 33:49Speaker 4: I think Richard, I know that he's reached out to
- 33:51Speaker 4: him about it. I think it's sort of been arm's length,
- 33:55Speaker 4: is my understanding, but you never know what's going on.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Richardwkins is practically a Christian after ten years of woke madness.
- 34:03Speaker 1: He's almost he's almost a Christian. Just he's Christian adjason.
- 34:07Speaker 1: I think at this point.
- 34:09Speaker 4: That's right, that's right. Yeah, Okay, So.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Let's talk about tell us Brittany Dela Mora's story.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Yeah, Brittany Delamore. So, Brittany Delamore is so she grows
- 34:21Speaker 4: up in a broken home, like many people in that environment,
- 34:28Speaker 4: you know, ends up looking for affection and bad places,
- 34:32Speaker 4: and this leads to her starting off I believe, stripping,
- 34:39Speaker 4: and then ends up with her going into the porn industry.
- 34:44Speaker 4: So she becomes one of one of actually the foremost
- 34:47Speaker 4: figures in the pornographic industry at that time, extremely well known.
- 34:55Speaker 4: As you can imagine this, this isn't a fruitful life.
- 35:00Speaker 4: And she goes into you know, just just how dark
- 35:04Speaker 4: actually that whole world is not just for her but
- 35:07Speaker 4: people around her. So, you know, you've got STDs who've
- 35:10Speaker 4: got massive suicide rates, depression, everybody's on drugs, just trying
- 35:15Speaker 4: to medicate themselves through these things. Relationships are abusive and
- 35:22Speaker 4: and just absolutely crushing. And she remembered in the midst
- 35:31Speaker 4: of all of this that her grandmother had told her about,
- 35:38Speaker 4: you know, the love of Jesus, but she was convinced
- 35:41Speaker 4: she was too far gone. And she tells this story
- 35:44Speaker 4: of how she is on an airplane and she's traveling
- 35:49Speaker 4: to do a shoot. She gets invited to do a
- 35:50Speaker 4: shoot somewhere again, you know, pornographic shoot, and she feels
- 35:57Speaker 4: led to open her Bible. She's in the midst of that,
- 36:00Speaker 4: she's starting to read her Bible, and so she feels
- 36:02Speaker 4: led to read her Bible, and her Bible opens to
- 36:05Speaker 4: Revelation two twenty to twenty three. Which talks about that
- 36:10Speaker 4: woman jes Abel and God casting her on a sick
- 36:13Speaker 4: bed and that immorality, and she feels it convicts her profoundly,
- 36:19Speaker 4: and so at that point she sort of, you know, decides,
- 36:23Speaker 4: I don't want to do this anymore. She's still really struggling,
- 36:28Speaker 4: and and you know, she's going to church. She's expecting condemnation.
- 36:32Speaker 4: She hears grace and she leaves amazingly that the adult
- 36:37Speaker 4: film industry. What I think is really interesting about her
- 36:40Speaker 4: story is she shares her testimony. She's going to speak,
- 36:44Speaker 4: I believe it's at a woman's event, or she gets
- 36:47Speaker 4: invited to share her testimony through video at a woman's event,
- 36:50Speaker 4: and she agrees to do it because she thinks the
- 36:54Speaker 4: video is just going to get played there, but it
- 36:57Speaker 4: gets put on the internet and all these people and
- 37:00Speaker 4: she's like devastated. She's she thinks it's going to be terrible,
- 37:04Speaker 4: but everybody comes along and celebrates her and just goes,
- 37:07Speaker 4: what a great story. And she's now married to a
- 37:10Speaker 4: pastor who and together they have a ministry where they
- 37:15Speaker 4: go round to porn conventions and they try to get
- 37:20Speaker 4: people out of that industry and tell them about the
- 37:22Speaker 4: love of Jesus. So again just one of those full
- 37:24Speaker 4: circle stories. That's that's absolutely profound and just a wonderful
- 37:29Speaker 4: story of again God taking someone from that, setting them
- 37:32Speaker 4: free and then using them to actually set other people free.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Yeah, Joshua Broom was on the show and he's another
- 37:40Speaker 3: example of someone getting set free out of that industry.
- 37:45Speaker 3: It's interesting because in with this, but at the beginning
- 37:50Speaker 3: of your book normally it's kind of at the end
- 37:52Speaker 3: of the book, but at the beginning of your book
- 37:54Speaker 3: you give a full gospel presentation, but the last chapter
- 37:57Speaker 3: of your book is how to have freedom? So there,
- 38:01Speaker 3: I think there are a lot of people who secretly
- 38:04Speaker 3: watch my show who are skeptics or atheists or just
- 38:09Speaker 3: non believers.
- 38:11Speaker 1: How how do people get free?
- 38:16Speaker 4: Yeah, So there's different levels to this freedom, different aspects
- 38:21Speaker 4: to it. So I think the first one for everybody
- 38:24Speaker 4: to know is you need to be free from the
- 38:28Speaker 4: penalty of sin. Sin. Sin is incurs a debt to
- 38:31Speaker 4: God himself. Sin sin is something that you end up
- 38:36Speaker 4: on the wrong side of God's law, and you need
- 38:39Speaker 4: a way to get onto the right side of God's law.
- 38:42Speaker 4: And sadly, if you break a laws, as many people know,
- 38:46Speaker 4: in the legal system, you can't just say, well, I
- 38:50Speaker 4: was good in other areas and therefore you know that
- 38:54Speaker 4: area where I broke the law doesn't matter. That a
- 38:56Speaker 4: specific crime, that whatever that was, has to be dealt with.
- 39:00Speaker 4: And I suppose the bad news is that the crime
- 39:04Speaker 4: is much worse than we think. The wages of sin
- 39:07Speaker 4: is death. It's an infinite because we it's against an
- 39:11Speaker 4: infinite God. It's an infinite crime, and you're a finite being,
- 39:13Speaker 4: and you cannot pay that off. Thankfully. The good news
- 39:16Speaker 4: is Jesus Christ is an infinite man who died on
- 39:21Speaker 4: a cross, and he did so in your place for
- 39:25Speaker 4: your sins, and he offers you the free gift of forgiveness.
- 39:29Speaker 4: He paid the debt for you, and you just cling
- 39:32Speaker 4: to him and you say, I received that from you,
- 39:35Speaker 4: and he will give it to you. So that's the
- 39:39Speaker 4: first area of freedom. That's your eternal freedom now in
- 39:42Speaker 4: this life. I think this is something that a lot
- 39:44Speaker 4: of people who are really stuck in the lifestyle of sin,
- 39:47Speaker 4: you know, struggle with, which is, well, what about sin
- 39:51Speaker 4: in this life? Okay, maybe I, you know, will be
- 39:54Speaker 4: fine in eternity, But what I do in here and
- 39:56Speaker 4: now The truth is that Jesus himself Elf says that
- 40:01Speaker 4: if the sun sets you free, you will be free indeed,
- 40:04Speaker 4: and so what he does is he equips us to
- 40:08Speaker 4: walk in freedom in this life. And he does so
- 40:11Speaker 4: through the person of His Holy Spirit, who he sends
- 40:14Speaker 4: to in dwell Christians, to strengthen us, changes our heart,
- 40:19Speaker 4: that we become new creations. So we desire different things.
- 40:22Speaker 4: So some people listening maybe think, well, I actually want
- 40:26Speaker 4: this sin, and yeah, I'd like to be a Christian,
- 40:29Speaker 4: but I really really want sin. The fact is, if
- 40:32Speaker 4: you come to Christ, those desires are changed. I'm not
- 40:36Speaker 4: saying that you never battle with him, but your fundamental
- 40:39Speaker 4: desire is now for him more than anything else. And
- 40:41Speaker 4: you wrestle with old desires and old habits, but what
- 40:46Speaker 4: you want most is him. So he changes you in
- 40:50Speaker 4: that way, strengthens you.
- 40:52Speaker 1: He gives you change of affection.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I think it's called yes, yes, absolutely great book title anyway, it.
- 40:58Speaker 4: Would be a great book title. Yes, so yeah, So,
- 41:03Speaker 4: so you know, he transforms you in that way, gives
- 41:05Speaker 4: you his word that that that not not only teaches
- 41:10Speaker 4: you but feeds your soul, gives you strength to live
- 41:13Speaker 4: according to the way that you should. He gives you
- 41:17Speaker 4: authority over the devil. By the way, I think some
- 41:19Speaker 4: of some of the stuff that people don't think is
- 41:22Speaker 4: caused by the devil is the devil is the tempter,
- 41:25Speaker 4: and and he draws us into sin. But as a
- 41:29Speaker 4: Christian you have authority over him. And and he puts
- 41:34Speaker 4: you in and among the people of God who can
- 41:36Speaker 4: pray for you and encourage you and strengthen you and
- 41:40Speaker 4: builds you up in your faith. And and yes, do
- 41:42Speaker 4: you know what I for everybody, every single person who
- 41:45Speaker 4: comes to faith in Christ. Some people have really dramatic
- 41:48Speaker 4: things that happen where they can get, you know, immediately
- 41:50Speaker 4: set free in an instant from one area of sin.
- 41:54Speaker 4: But that's not necessarily true for for for those that
- 41:59Speaker 4: follow Christ. For for say, some of the major ers,
- 42:01Speaker 4: you might think, I really want to be free from
- 42:03Speaker 4: this one immediately, and that might not work like that
- 42:06Speaker 4: in terms of you know, you never ever struggle with
- 42:08Speaker 4: it again at all. But the truth is that even
- 42:12Speaker 4: those people that maybe get a big dramatic moment, they're
- 42:16Speaker 4: in the same boat as everybody else where's. It's a
- 42:18Speaker 4: gradual and increasing freedom over life that you're you're called
- 42:22Speaker 4: to walk in and and so you might need it.
- 42:26Speaker 4: Rosaria has this wonderful line that she talks about where
- 42:30Speaker 4: she says, you know, you might need to repent a
- 42:32Speaker 4: thousand times before breakfast, but you just keep doing it,
- 42:37Speaker 4: you know, you crucify, keep crucifying the flesh, she says,
- 42:40Speaker 4: and the devil will get tired of you eventually. And
- 42:42Speaker 4: that is true. Like if you go to war with
- 42:44Speaker 4: your sin and you say, just you know what, I'm
- 42:47Speaker 4: going to deal with this thing, and I'm going to
- 42:49Speaker 4: turn from it and turn from it every single time
- 42:51Speaker 4: it comes to me, every single thought, that that draws
- 42:54Speaker 4: me back in that direction. Do you know what you
- 42:58Speaker 4: It might not take a week, it might take a
- 43:00Speaker 4: you know, a year or years, but you look back
- 43:03Speaker 4: and you go, I am a different person than I was.
- 43:05Speaker 4: Then it's because of the part of God at work
- 43:08Speaker 4: within you.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Yeah. That just reminds me of that kind of increasing sectification. One.
- 43:17Speaker 3: It just something just happened to me the other night,
- 43:19Speaker 3: which was remarkable. I stumbled upon this book called Letters
- 43:26Speaker 3: on Homosexual Desire by Doug Wilson, and I was just
- 43:30Speaker 3: curious because the title. I was curious because of the title,
- 43:33Speaker 3: and one of the things he said in the book
- 43:37Speaker 3: was that your your homosexuality is not your parents' fault,
- 43:49Speaker 3: and if you keep blaming them because I, you know,
- 43:54Speaker 3: over the last I don't know how many years I
- 43:57Speaker 3: have talked about my parents and kind of they're failing
- 44:00Speaker 3: in different ways. And then he says, if you're holding
- 44:04Speaker 3: on to bitterness towards your parents because of this, you
- 44:08Speaker 3: need to forgive them. And I had never thought of that.
- 44:12Speaker 3: I'd never thought of like, oh my gosh, I need
- 44:14Speaker 3: to forgive my parents. And and it just the other night,
- 44:20Speaker 3: I just out loud to God, I forget and my
- 44:23Speaker 3: parents are in heaven now, so I couldn't contact them directly,
- 44:28Speaker 3: so I prayed out loud to God and I just said, God,
- 44:33Speaker 3: I forgive my dad. And I was as soon as
- 44:37Speaker 3: I said that, I started crying. And it was just
- 44:41Speaker 3: like and it's that doesn't really happen that often. And
- 44:47Speaker 3: and what's remarkable is that and I never have dreams
- 44:49Speaker 3: about my father. That night I had a dream and
- 44:54Speaker 3: it was so vivid and gets me emotional, that I
- 45:02Speaker 3: had a dream about me and my dad and we
- 45:06Speaker 3: were together and it was like this wonderful kind of
- 45:10Speaker 3: it was It wasn't like we were fishing together or something.
- 45:13Speaker 1: It was something else.
- 45:13Speaker 3: We were doing some activity together, and it was such
- 45:17Speaker 3: a loving activity. The interaction between us was so loving.
- 45:23Speaker 1: And I woke up.
- 45:24Speaker 3: That morning and I was like, oh my gosh.
- 45:27Speaker 1: I just felt this.
- 45:28Speaker 3: I felt like another layer of the onion just kind
- 45:31Speaker 3: of peeled off of me by the Holy Spirit. And
- 45:34Speaker 3: I just that I just that whole kind of whatever
- 45:38Speaker 3: I was holding in and that bitterness I was holding
- 45:40Speaker 3: in just was released. And so anyway, I just that
- 45:44Speaker 3: just reminded me of that when you when you talk
- 45:46Speaker 3: about kind of the progressive.
- 45:49Speaker 4: Yeah, no, God works in that way. Can I can
- 45:51Speaker 4: I to mind if I read a little passage from
- 45:53Speaker 4: from the book is that Okay, this is from the
- 45:55Speaker 4: story of Laura Perry Smolt. So Laura lived for ten
- 45:58Speaker 4: years as cheeks. She was consider yourself transgender. I don't
- 46:02Speaker 4: like to say someone was because that affirms that, but
- 46:04Speaker 4: you know what I mean, that's how she was living.
- 46:06Speaker 4: But this is her in her story she said, I
- 46:10Speaker 4: began to find out who I truly was and who
- 46:12Speaker 4: I was created to be. It's so backwards sometimes from
- 46:15Speaker 4: what we think God's ways are, not our ways, and
- 46:17Speaker 4: His thoughts are not our thoughts. The Bible says that
- 46:19Speaker 4: as the heavens are higher than the earth, so we're
- 46:22Speaker 4: God's ways higher than our ways. So sometimes it doesn't
- 46:24Speaker 4: make sense to us. Nobody really transitions from one sex
- 46:27Speaker 4: to the other. It's biologically impossible. Who I was created
- 46:32Speaker 4: to be just began to emerge and come forth. I
- 46:36Speaker 4: was a little more comfortable and began to enjoy being
- 46:39Speaker 4: a girl, began to love being a girl. I think
- 46:42Speaker 4: that's kind of how the process looks for most people.
- 46:45Speaker 4: It's just a gradual, Like you walk in greater and
- 46:48Speaker 4: greater freedom, You connect with the Lord, you study his word,
- 46:52Speaker 4: you realize what his thoughts are about you, and then
- 46:55Speaker 4: you begin to become not this other. I like the
- 46:59Speaker 4: way she said. It's not becoming another person so much
- 47:02Speaker 4: as becoming who you truly are, Who you truly are
- 47:04Speaker 4: in Christ. That is actually who we're meant to be.
- 47:06Speaker 4: You know, we're meant to be, you know, in Christ,
- 47:09Speaker 4: walking with Him, and every other identity that we may
- 47:12Speaker 4: invent for ourselves based around our sin is actually a
- 47:15Speaker 4: false one. We're truest to ourselves when we are one
- 47:20Speaker 4: with Him.
- 47:22Speaker 3: Amen to that Okay, so the book is called thet
- 47:25Speaker 3: Free tell people how they can watch your show and
- 47:29Speaker 3: how they can and however else they can get in
- 47:34Speaker 3: touch with you or reach you or see what you're doing. Yeah, super,
- 47:38Speaker 3: thank you.
- 47:39Speaker 4: Yes, So just search for my name Jamie Bambrick on
- 47:42Speaker 4: YouTube primarily that's where I put most of my stuff.
- 47:45Speaker 4: Also a little bit on x pretty regularly but not
- 47:48Speaker 4: all my videos go there, but active there and somewhat
- 47:53Speaker 4: active on Instagram, trying to improve on occasionally, you know,
- 47:56Speaker 4: just glutton for punishment and try to get on more
- 47:59Speaker 4: social media platforms because that's what I need. Yeah, and
- 48:04Speaker 4: then you can also check out Decision Point to that
- 48:07Speaker 4: ministry that I could again co wrote this with with
- 48:10Speaker 4: Mark Hopson, who's the CEO there, who do fantastic work
- 48:15Speaker 4: and if you like what they're doing, I encourage you
- 48:17Speaker 4: to support them. I'm a big fan of everything they're
- 48:20Speaker 4: doing and I'm not getting paid to say that. So
- 48:22Speaker 4: do that.
- 48:23Speaker 3: Decision point similar to tp US Turning Point USA.
- 48:29Speaker 4: No, it's it would be most similar to say, like
- 48:32Speaker 4: campus Crusade for Cork Crewe, but in high schools, so
- 48:36Speaker 4: it's a younger demographic, so it's public schools and it's evangelism,
- 48:41Speaker 4: but they are punching and countercultural. They're really up for
- 48:44Speaker 4: engaging on topics like these with young people because these
- 48:47Speaker 4: are the big evangelistic challenges for a lot of teenagers.
- 48:52Speaker 3: That sounds good, all right, well, Jamie Bambrick, thank you
- 48:55Speaker 3: for coming on the show. I appreciate it.
