- 0:00Speaker 1: As we continue here on sports Radio AM thirteen hunderds,
- 0:02I wanted to hear some more from logwrn's head coach,
- 0:05Decarcasian from that SEC teleconference. That's where they get all
- 0:11the They get all of the coaches on every week
- 0:18and they run through all of the different things the
- 0:22questions that they that they get from media, not only
- 0:26from their own area, but national as well. This would
- 0:31definitely be more from the local perspective, you know, after
- 0:35fielding questions about preparing his program for the transition into
- 0:40the Southeastern Conference and you know, Kirby Smart and measuring
- 0:46sticks and all that sort of stuff. Simple question for
- 0:48Sart the game is Saturday night. We know what's going
- 0:52on in town this week. Gigantic football game, gigantic car race.
- 0:57You got the F one Grand Prix come up on Sunday.
- 1:00Sark was asked, are you going to the F one race?
- 1:02Speaker 2: I would love to go to Formula one.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Unfortunately, We've got another game next Saturday that I've got
- 1:07to prepare for. But you know, this AUS season, I
- 1:10got a chance to go to the NASCAR race there
- 1:13and it was it was awesome, and so I can
- 1:15only imagine what the Formula One is like and the
- 1:17speed of those cars.
- 1:19Speaker 2: But no, unfortunate I won't be able to make that
- 1:21a little busy, a little busy this time of year.
- 1:25I think that's that's going on.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Now, back to talking about the football matchup with the
- 1:31Georgia Bulldogs. Well, if you missed it, in the first
- 1:35hour of the program, we visited with Scott Howard, the
- 1:37Bulldogs play by play voice, and asked him about Carson
- 1:40Beck and asked him to describe the season. He goes,
- 1:45pretty solid, pretty solid, but not you know, over the top,
- 1:50superstar stuff. He's got five interceptions this year, is completing
- 1:55sixty eight percent of his passes. That's pretty good, and
- 1:57he's thrown for over eighteen hundred yards. And he did
- 2:00point out that of those interceptions, some have been tip
- 2:03passes and things like that.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Now, the one that's going to stand out is the.
- 2:06Speaker 4: One at the end of the Alabama game when they
- 2:08were driving with a chance to win that game after everything,
- 2:11and then come all the way back from way down
- 2:14to take the lead, only to give it back up
- 2:16and then come back with.
- 2:18Speaker 2: A chance, but there was a late interception.
- 2:20Speaker 1: But he thought that that back overall was performing pretty well. Well,
- 2:25Sark was asked the same thing, or ly similarly, what
- 2:28has he seen from the Georgia offense and from their
- 2:31quarterback Carson back this season.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that they've you know, coach Bobo has
- 2:36been a great offensive mine for for quite some time.
- 2:40And you know, watching the growth of Carson, you know
- 2:43that the thing that that stands out, you know, we
- 2:46all have to evolve every year, and I think for
- 2:50Georgia they had to evolve, you know, when you lose
- 2:52kind of the caliber of players they lost off of
- 2:55last year's you know, last couple of years teams, you know,
- 2:57most notably Brock Powers and so much of the offense
- 3:00was kind of centered around him. It's almost like they
- 3:03had to reinvent themselves a bit. And these these wide
- 3:06receivers have been, you know, big playmakers. You know, the
- 3:10tight end Delpe has been a big playmaker. But the
- 3:12thing I appreciate is they've got all the offense. And
- 3:15that's probably my biggest thing in watching them is they've
- 3:18got every screen like we do, they use multiple you know.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Motions and shifts and formations.
- 3:24Speaker 3: They've got a physical, downhill running game, and then off
- 3:26of that, they've got all the play action pass stuff
- 3:28where they can throw it over your head. And like
- 3:31I said earlier in the week, Carson has the ability
- 3:34to do all of that.
- 3:35Speaker 2: You know.
- 3:35Speaker 3: I think he threw a touchdown pass the other day.
- 3:38I think the ball is in there sixty two or
- 3:40sixty four yards, you know. So he's got big time
- 3:42arm twnle, he's got great pocket presence. But yet, as
- 3:46you're trying to defend all that down the field, you
- 3:48still have to worry about the advantage throws the receiver, screens,
- 3:52the things of that nature where they can get completions
- 3:55and move the ball down the field.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Okay, so that's a question about the Georgia offense. Now,
- 4:03both Sark and Kirby Smart addressed questions as you would
- 4:08imagine in the weekly news conferences, regarding both sides of
- 4:13the football. How their offense is matched up against the
- 4:15opposing defenses, how the defense is matched up against their offense,
- 4:18and so on and so forth. How his defense matches
- 4:20up against the Georgia offense, which is similar to what
- 4:22he was just talking about.
- 4:23Speaker 2: But what about his adjustments?
- 4:25Speaker 1: Has he adjusted his use of tempo because the way
- 4:30that Texas can get things going up and down the field,
- 4:37and this was a technology question. Remember this is a
- 4:41year where for the first time, tablet usage is being
- 4:45employed on sidelines and Sark has been, you know, really
- 4:51in favor of it.
- 4:52Speaker 2: He's talked about it, how much he's been in favor.
- 4:53Speaker 1: But he was asked, has he had to adjust his
- 4:57usage of tempo based on defense is now being able
- 5:01to use tablets on the sideline.
- 5:03Speaker 4: No.
- 5:03Speaker 3: I mean, we've always kind of dabbled in the tempo world.
- 5:06Speaker 2: You know, there was a time.
- 5:09Speaker 3: In my career when I was at Washington, the end
- 5:12of my tenure at Washington and at my time at
- 5:14USC where we were a true tempo team.
- 5:17Speaker 2: We went as fast as we could go, and then
- 5:20we kind.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Of evolved out of that, especially when I went to
- 5:23the NFL with the Falcons, and then you know, since
- 5:26I've been back in college, you know, we dabble in
- 5:28the temple world, but that's not something that we that.
- 5:31Speaker 2: We major in, and you know, I don't I don't know.
- 5:37Speaker 3: I tend not to overthink stuff like that. You know,
- 5:40I believe in our execution and what we need to do.
- 5:44We're definitely not not a huge kind of static formation team.
- 5:48Even when we use tempo a lot of times, there's
- 5:50motions involved in different things. So, but that's just kind
- 5:54of who we are as an offense. It's not so
- 5:58much to try to gain an advantage on the defense.
- 6:02As far as you know, will they will, they recognize
- 6:05what we're doing. That's just kind of how we install
- 6:07our offense and the way we go about our business.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Interesting stuff there, thoughts from sark.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Now.
- 6:13Speaker 1: We're going to hear more from Steve Sarcasian tomorrow as
- 6:18it comes your way from his media Zoo. His final
- 6:24weekly opportunity
