- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey guys, The Bootleg Cap podcast is presented by Prize Picks.
- 0:03Speaker 1: If you support the good work we do here, use
- 0:06Speaker 1: the promo code boot Leg sign up for Prize Picks.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Man. What that does is you spend five bucks on
- 0:10Speaker 2: a lineup. They're gonna give you fifty dollars in free lineups.
- 0:12Speaker 2: And it's legal damn near everywhere, including California, including Texas,
- 0:18Speaker 2: and it's awesome. You just put together lineups of how
- 0:21Speaker 2: you think things are gonna go with certain players, all right,
- 0:23Speaker 2: on certain teams, football, basketball, whatever it is. Basketball's point rebounds, assists.
- 0:28Speaker 2: You could combine all three if you want. It could
- 0:30Speaker 2: be Yoki, Shay Gillis, Alexander. You could say, I think
- 0:33Speaker 2: he's gonna get more than this, He's gonna hit more
- 0:35Speaker 2: than two three pointers, whatever it is. They set the lines,
- 0:37Speaker 2: you put the lineup together, and you get a pop in.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Of course, NFL season, we're in the midst of it
- 0:42Speaker 2: right now. Same thing. You think someone's gonna get more
- 0:44Speaker 2: than a touchdown, more than a certain amount of receiving yards,
- 0:48Speaker 2: you just put your lineup together, all right. And when you.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Do do that with that promo code Bootleg, put a
- 0:53Speaker 1: five dollars lineup together.
- 0:55Speaker 2: They're gonna give you fifty dollars in free lineups. Man,
- 0:57Speaker 2: we run it up. Prize picks down to right now.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Let's get into the interview. Yo, it's the Blueleg Cap Podcast.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Man special guests in here, Carson's finest brass cast.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Oh man, thank you brother, thanks for having me. Yes, sir, man,
- 1:13Speaker 3: than you, thank you, thank you. Yo Uh.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I got to give you props man, because you have
- 1:18Speaker 2: I feel like when we you know, I always say
- 1:20Speaker 2: that there's like certain like guys on this planet who
- 1:22Speaker 2: are just like have like mastered the art of like
- 1:26Speaker 2: lyricism working at it. I feel like you are one
- 1:30Speaker 2: of the like earlier dudes in my life where I
- 1:32Speaker 2: was like, Yo, this, this guy's fucking different, like you Cannabis,
- 1:36Speaker 2: you know, like like this aspect of guys who just
- 1:38Speaker 2: like just mastered you know, just lyricism in a way
- 1:42Speaker 2: that was just so unique. Man.
- 1:44Speaker 4: I appreciated that.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Yeah, man uh. And the other thing I want to
- 1:48Speaker 2: give you props I want to have. The first thing
- 1:50Speaker 2: I want to ask you back is one of the
- 1:51Speaker 2: first songs I ever like, I felt like kind of
- 1:53Speaker 2: sparked my brain as a kid, was Nature of the
- 1:56Speaker 2: Threat on Soul on Ice. That was kind of like
- 2:01Speaker 2: that was I mean, obviously there was like revolutionary like
- 2:03Speaker 2: conscious shit, but that was like the kind of like
- 2:06Speaker 2: the like that record was different.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Man.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I always say that that record was completely selfish. I
- 2:14Speaker 3: liked history. I always liked it, so I was, you know,
- 2:17Speaker 3: I was kind of like a class clown. But then
- 2:20Speaker 3: I was kind of like I'm talking about like in
- 2:22Speaker 3: middle school, yeah, junior high school and shit.
- 2:24Speaker 4: So I liked.
- 2:25Speaker 3: History though for some reason, and I was asking questions
- 2:31Speaker 3: that sometimes the teacher didn't answer. So I just really
- 2:34Speaker 3: wrote Nature of the Threat obviously inspired by you know,
- 2:38Speaker 3: karros One You Must Learn and all that type of stuff.
- 2:40Speaker 3: But I was just trying to figure out because I
- 2:42Speaker 3: liked history, I just kind of want to understand.
- 2:45Speaker 4: You know, things don't happen in the vacuum.
- 2:46Speaker 3: So I'm trying to understand like seventeen seventy six, but
- 2:49Speaker 3: you know, well how the Mexico.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Not you know, how did it shrink?
- 2:56Speaker 3: You know, so putting those things in the context, so
- 2:59Speaker 3: I was just kind of right to understand, you know,
- 3:03Speaker 3: the cause and effect of how we end up literally
- 3:05Speaker 3: where we are today. You know what I mean, and
- 3:07Speaker 3: so that's why I did it.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Was was like at that time, did you get any
- 3:12Speaker 2: like like negative feedback from a label or anything.
- 3:16Speaker 4: It was on my demo. But the thing is I
- 3:19Speaker 4: wrote it.
- 3:19Speaker 3: And yeah, it was literally on my demo, and then
- 3:23Speaker 3: they I was my whole plan was to to never
- 3:27Speaker 3: put it out on the first album.
- 3:29Speaker 4: I just wanted to record it because I knew me.
- 3:31Speaker 3: I was like, I ended up losing my notebook, right,
- 3:33Speaker 3: and then I ain't gonna have a song.
- 3:35Speaker 4: So I just kind of just went over Voodoo House.
- 3:38Speaker 3: I laid it, and then my whole point was I'll
- 3:42Speaker 3: put it on my second album because I didn't want
- 3:43Speaker 3: to like band myself. I was like, I'm gonna get
- 3:45Speaker 3: in trouble for the song. So uh then my mom
- 3:48Speaker 3: heard it and she's like you got you got to
- 3:50Speaker 3: put it out and yeah recipes. Yeah, my moms just
- 3:54Speaker 3: like you got to do it. And the label was
- 3:56Speaker 3: pretty they signed me with it, but then they kind
- 3:59Speaker 3: of was like you sure you want to put this
- 4:00Speaker 3: on there, and I was like, my mom told me, so.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:03Speaker 3: They didn't push a lot, but they kind of were
- 4:05Speaker 3: like maybe not, but we still you know, to their credit.
- 4:09Speaker 4: They let me, you know, they let me be who
- 4:11Speaker 4: I was.
- 4:11Speaker 2: It's crazy too because like when we think of like
- 4:14Speaker 2: debut albums, like I feel like so on Ice like
- 4:17Speaker 2: doesn't get mentioned enough, Like it was such a dope project.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Do you feel like obviously do you feel like it's
- 4:24Speaker 2: slept on?
- 4:25Speaker 4: I did. Here's the bruh.
- 4:28Speaker 3: My album actually came out a year and a half
- 4:31Speaker 3: later than it was supposed to because we were independent
- 4:35Speaker 3: at Patchworks, and then we got uh you know, we
- 4:38Speaker 3: got the opportunity to have different labels. Uh, you know,
- 4:43Speaker 3: like a bending bar. So you know, there was Death Jam.
- 4:45Speaker 3: It was American Death, American Big ru Ben. I didn't
- 4:50Speaker 3: know Loud. They didn't even tell me Loud gave me
- 4:52Speaker 3: an offer because I would have took Loud.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Hey that checks out because they X at the times
- 4:55Speaker 2: on Loud.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Well, he wasn't on Loud yet he had my beat.
- 5:02Speaker 3: The Licks were on Loud.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Ye, the I think were the first artists maybe maybe yeah.
- 5:07Speaker 3: And then they had Wu Tang so they had a
- 5:09Speaker 3: squad over there, and then you know, I picked priority
- 5:12Speaker 3: because it was I was afraid of Death Jam. I
- 5:15Speaker 3: was like, it's you know, it's big dogs I'm this
- 5:17Speaker 3: young dude and I didn't want to go, and I
- 5:19Speaker 3: was like, I'm gonna get to New York all the
- 5:20Speaker 3: time the son go wrong. So kind of the logic
- 5:23Speaker 3: was to pick a label that was based in LA
- 5:26Speaker 3: so I could at least go try to you know,
- 5:29Speaker 3: create rapport with the relationship, you know, with with with
- 5:32Speaker 3: my projects.
- 5:33Speaker 4: But I didn't know loud it made that offer and.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Wh wh why didn't you know?
- 5:37Speaker 4: Was it just because.
- 5:40Speaker 3: My production team the offer was lower, so they didn't
- 5:44Speaker 3: even let me know because they wanted the money and
- 5:48Speaker 3: depth jam.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Were so many artists get fucked up because they work
- 5:52Speaker 2: with managers and they work with production companies.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Right, who I'm a different agenda.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Well, because at the end of the day, like they
- 5:58Speaker 2: don't got to recoup, right, you got to reach right.
- 6:01Speaker 2: They just want that front end bag because they don't
- 6:03Speaker 2: get their cut off the wrist right on top of man.
- 6:05Speaker 2: So who's got the bigger bag? Let's go right?
- 6:07Speaker 3: And that's they Because I didn't even know that until
- 6:11Speaker 3: like two years ago. It was on some call and
- 6:13Speaker 3: then breathkins like you like he's like he said, you know,
- 6:15Speaker 3: you're the only person I ever made the offer to
- 6:18Speaker 3: that didn't sign to me.
- 6:18Speaker 4: I was like news to me. Never knew that Wild.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Yeah, so cut it should have would because I would
- 6:24Speaker 3: have went to of course def Jam, but it was
- 6:27Speaker 3: far right, you know.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I was just like Prior, more like a West Coast base.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it was West Coast BA, but Loud was a
- 6:34Speaker 3: hip hop label and it was new. It was in La, right,
- 6:36Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. And they had the squad
- 6:39Speaker 3: so Brian Shafton, Brian Turner, Dave Wyner, Yep, yeah.
- 6:44Speaker 2: That's crazy. And they had didn't they I think I had.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Me and Shafton were talking about this because I think
- 6:50Speaker 2: they had also in that building, like they had some
- 6:52Speaker 2: sort of deal with black Market Records and brothers.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Of course they did all the Independence, so all the
- 6:57Speaker 3: Bay independence, they were the distributor. Yeah. So yeah, all
- 7:01Speaker 3: all the Bay people. We were in the CNN building.
- 7:04Speaker 3: So that was always kind of for fun seeing Wolf
- 7:06Speaker 3: Blitzer and show.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Yeah it was.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah. I always was curious. So you've been a part
- 7:13Speaker 2: of like what kind of two cruise groups?
- 7:19Speaker 4: Yeah, you will super groups.
- 7:21Speaker 2: So because I think like three card Molly is one
- 7:25Speaker 2: of the dopest like posse cuts ever and it's kind
- 7:29Speaker 2: of mad because I don't think Exhibit did it at
- 7:30Speaker 2: Ryan Fest and I was like, bro, this is the
- 7:32Speaker 2: three card Molly fucking crowd.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Do it here, you know what. You know what's funny.
- 7:37Speaker 3: He asked me to go to Ryan Plass. I didn't
- 7:41Speaker 3: make it. I had to do something else, and so
- 7:43Speaker 3: he was like when he hit me, he was like, yo,
- 7:46Speaker 3: you want to come out, and I was like, bro,
- 7:50Speaker 3: I was like, I can't make it. So he probably
- 7:52Speaker 3: didn't do it because you weren't there.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I mean yea, because he would have just did it
- 7:55Speaker 2: one like one one.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Would have more impact, it would have been more funk,
- 7:58Speaker 3: and I start that record out, So I think that's
- 8:01Speaker 3: probably why he didn't do it.
- 8:03Speaker 4: So shouts out of X. I just saw him Monday.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Man killing it. His album was amazing.
- 8:08Speaker 4: Yeah yeah man, yep, king Maker.
- 8:10Speaker 2: So you end up, uh, there's this like it's it's
- 8:15Speaker 2: kind of like the detox of West Coast groups, the
- 8:17Speaker 2: Golden State Warriors.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Yes, you're right, the greatest idea that never right happened.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Like you guys had decided like the Golden State Warriors
- 8:28Speaker 2: were a thing, and then the actual team was like
- 8:31Speaker 2: not no, right, right, right, So break down what happened
- 8:33Speaker 2: with with the group.
- 8:34Speaker 3: So, so's obviously Exhibit and absolutely we love him, we
- 8:42Speaker 3: love him, we love him, love alone from them. But anyway,
- 8:45Speaker 3: so we become the group Exhibit. We always we do
- 8:49Speaker 3: songs with each other's albums.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Uh, because you're on at the Speed of Life.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, his first I'm on like the first three
- 8:57Speaker 4: or whatever.
- 8:58Speaker 3: So yeah, plastic surgery, so fear, you know whatever. So
- 9:03Speaker 3: we start doing this thing and didn't Exhibit bitch please pops.
- 9:09Speaker 3: So he's got a lot more visibility and then it
- 9:12Speaker 3: gets this label offer, open bars, this label and then
- 9:15Speaker 3: he gets his offer. So one of the things he
- 9:18Speaker 3: wants to do is like the group roll, let's go now.
- 9:21Speaker 3: And then that with that much attention, that's when the
- 9:25Speaker 3: basketball team is like, fuck y'all, y'all gonna be nothing.
- 9:29Speaker 3: You are not the Golden State Warriors.
- 9:30Speaker 2: How many records did you guys have working on it?
- 9:35Speaker 4: Like seven? We just never finished.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Honestly, this is again you know agenda the label, Uh,
- 9:45Speaker 3: the my particular label, Party Records, all of a sudden
- 9:51Speaker 3: wanted so much from Exhibit.
- 9:53Speaker 4: It got crazy. We need two songs on each sound track,
- 9:57Speaker 4: like whoa, he's not.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Signing it's on fire right in order for us to
- 10:02Speaker 2: let him.
- 10:03Speaker 4: I'm like, and I'm like, you're an idiot. He's given
- 10:06Speaker 4: us the layup.
- 10:08Speaker 2: This is gonna help my ship, and you guys got.
- 10:12Speaker 3: They drug it out for a year and we lost
- 10:14Speaker 3: the situation. Like it was really heartbreaking, And that's kind
- 10:17Speaker 3: of when I really soured with the label because it
- 10:20Speaker 3: was just like, now it just seems like y'all purposely
- 10:22Speaker 3: trying to destroy the career, like broke giving us the
- 10:26Speaker 3: alley oop. He's on the M and am out of
- 10:28Speaker 3: the dre stuff, and all he's saying is and he's
- 10:30Speaker 3: gonna get us a bag, and y'all gonna get a
- 10:32Speaker 3: piece of my bag anyway.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Right right, Like y'all gonna get and.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Then and then the record's gonna go platinum what it
- 10:39Speaker 4: gonna be.
- 10:41Speaker 3: But I just it was kind of like there's a
- 10:44Speaker 3: saying in a breakord contract that it's basically it says
- 10:47Speaker 3: if you can suit from breach of contract if the
- 10:51Speaker 3: label was unable and or unwilling to execute its duties.
- 10:56Speaker 3: So at that point, I was like unable to just
- 11:00Speaker 3: they're not capable. They don't get it unwilling. It's like sabotage.
- 11:03Speaker 3: And that's when I started feeling like, y'all sabotage in
- 11:06Speaker 3: this ship now. And that's when I you know.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Well, because there is a yeah, I don't know how
- 11:12Speaker 2: many people know. I mean, for as a kid, I
- 11:15Speaker 2: went to the warehouse Christln Maull in Phoenix, Arizona, and
- 11:19Speaker 2: I had assassination already and sol on Ice and waiting
- 11:23Speaker 2: for Van Go. I got this fucking demo CD. I
- 11:26Speaker 2: forget what all was on this demo demo there.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Was, yeah, it was Sampler. That was I think host
- 11:35Speaker 3: about like I think.
- 11:36Speaker 2: There was a Djin.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Might have been case and kid Capri and I just.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Remember burning that ship out. You had the Alchemist record
- 11:46Speaker 2: on there, right, which was fucking crazy. Van Go doesn't
- 11:53Speaker 2: end up coming out until you did a version of
- 11:55Speaker 2: it like seven years ago, put.
- 11:58Speaker 4: The record the way it was.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Yeah, so was this so so I want to get
- 12:03Speaker 2: into the Alchemist thing, but first I want to go
- 12:05Speaker 2: figure out what happened with so the Samplers out.
- 12:08Speaker 3: It feels like the momentum is going, so are you
- 12:10Speaker 3: that when you're like, fuck, y'all, well, this is again
- 12:15Speaker 3: unable and or unwilling.
- 12:17Speaker 4: So here's the play.
- 12:19Speaker 2: You guys had fucking ads in the magazine.
- 12:21Speaker 3: And all we're going. So here's the thing. All as well,
- 12:27Speaker 3: we've already pressed up the vinyl. We pressed up vinyl
- 12:31Speaker 3: for a single, the single that I'm that I perform
- 12:35Speaker 3: on starring Buck Wold had a cable show in New
- 12:38Speaker 3: York and Money Love was the host also, and so
- 12:41Speaker 3: I performed this song and I also put it on
- 12:44Speaker 3: Case Slave's mixtape. It's called Home, Sweet Home. It's the
- 12:46Speaker 3: alchemist be great song. So the label says, uh, you
- 12:52Speaker 3: should you know this is when the irritating thing. They're like,
- 12:55Speaker 3: you should have Exhibit on this song. I'm like, you
- 12:59Speaker 3: fucking groupies. He's on two other ones. We got the
- 13:02Speaker 3: NBA record and I had this song called sex the
- 13:04Speaker 3: Jelly Roper dude. So I'm like, I'm not putting bro
- 13:06Speaker 3: on every song I say. And I remember I said,
- 13:08Speaker 3: if you wanted to sign Exhibit, you should have signed it.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Don't start trying to pimp me out to over use
- 13:14Speaker 3: my homeboy, that's whack. And this I like this song.
- 13:17Speaker 3: How I did this song. I'm gonna leave the song
- 13:19Speaker 3: how it is. But they end up taking.
- 13:21Speaker 2: There trying to like use your relationship with your friend
- 13:25Speaker 2: and like over pimp it out, Like yo, come on, guys,
- 13:28Speaker 2: like I got you.
- 13:30Speaker 3: There's two on here already, Relax, you know what I mean.
- 13:34Speaker 3: So the vinyls getting manufactured on the lull we got
- 13:42Speaker 3: it's got Storch. We got a Kanye record, We got
- 13:46Speaker 3: a blah blah blah like my records fire.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Uh and Kanye like way before Kanye is Kanye?
- 13:55Speaker 4: Right?
- 13:56Speaker 3: No, no, you still got jay Z know what I'm saying,
- 13:59Speaker 3: Like he's like a also he's just a but long story,
- 14:03Speaker 3: be sure. What happens with Van Go is that's when
- 14:06Speaker 3: the label gets sold. So party gets They bought Capital
- 14:12Speaker 3: and I bought half and let Brian still run it
- 14:16Speaker 3: Brian Turner. And then they they bought the other share,
- 14:20Speaker 3: the like the controlling share, and phased him out. And
- 14:25Speaker 3: so basically my album was I remember I went in
- 14:29Speaker 3: to like the new vice president that was coming in
- 14:32Speaker 3: h and and they gave me a you know, they
- 14:35Speaker 3: gave me a spill. They said, because my record was
- 14:37Speaker 3: like coming out in a week the c these were manufactured,
- 14:39Speaker 3: I should have grabbed the box. I'm in the idiots
- 14:41Speaker 3: and they said, look, nobody did their job because the
- 14:45Speaker 3: song was backing up for Van Go. We had shot
- 14:47Speaker 3: that video too, that was the single single, uh rick
- 14:52Speaker 3: rock right. But and so they said, look, we're gonna
- 14:58Speaker 3: put it out. It probably won't. It's not going to
- 14:59Speaker 3: say because nobody radio department didn't do nothing because everybody
- 15:03Speaker 3: was waiting thinking they're gonna get fired, so they busy
- 15:05Speaker 3: send out their resumes. Motherfuckers was just trying to pay
- 15:08Speaker 3: the bill. So it's like, you got two options. What
- 15:12Speaker 3: was told to me was we could put it out
- 15:17Speaker 3: and then it won't perform and then get dropped, or
- 15:23Speaker 3: let us make amends. We pulled the album. We'll give
- 15:26Speaker 3: you some more money and we're gonna treat you like
- 15:29Speaker 3: the Marque artists that you deserve to be there. It's
- 15:31Speaker 3: like the only people that's gonna really end up staying
- 15:33Speaker 3: here is gonna be you and Snoop Dogg. I'm like,
- 15:35Speaker 3: I can live with that because because ice Q only
- 15:37Speaker 3: have he put out his last one, he was done,
- 15:40Speaker 3: he had fulfilled his obligations.
- 15:41Speaker 4: So they were just like.
- 15:43Speaker 3: So I was like, fuck, you know, I'll stick it out,
- 15:45Speaker 3: checks out, stick it out, I'll stick it up. Stupidest
- 15:49Speaker 3: decision I ever made. I should have just let Van
- 15:52Speaker 3: go go. But I mean when people telling agent and
- 15:55Speaker 3: then I would have went wherever I wanted to go.
- 15:57Speaker 3: I could have signed the exhibit, whatever the fuck I
- 15:59Speaker 3: wanted to do. I was an idiot, But you know
- 16:01Speaker 3: I processed that. I talked to my friends, you know,
- 16:04Speaker 3: you know, people in the industry, and.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Honestly, way different industry landscape back then, right, But I
- 16:10Speaker 2: know how year is this.
- 16:12Speaker 3: It's like two thousand, yeah, yeah, about two thousand, maybe
- 16:14Speaker 3: two thousand and one is And so I was just like, okay,
- 16:18Speaker 3: I'll stick it out and uh uh yeah, and the
- 16:22Speaker 3: rest is history.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Literally.
- 16:24Speaker 2: So I want to revisit because obviously your song ends
- 16:29Speaker 2: up being Jada Kiss, We're Gonna Make It, which is
- 16:33Speaker 2: a classic classic.
- 16:35Speaker 4: It's a classic.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Now it sounds like there's an obvious lot of confusion
- 16:41Speaker 2: going on with your situation, right, So in retrospect, breakdown
- 16:47Speaker 2: how Jada ends up with that record and how the
- 16:50Speaker 2: conflict with Al ends up as well.
- 16:53Speaker 3: What we decided. I just saw Al, uh, you know,
- 16:58Speaker 3: having a legendary run. He's killing it. So our thing
- 17:01Speaker 3: is we just call it. We had them misunderstanding, we're
- 17:04Speaker 3: moving forward. Miscommunication, miscommunication.
- 17:07Speaker 2: There was a lot of parts.
- 17:10Speaker 3: That record because think about it, Van Gold didn't come
- 17:13Speaker 3: out dry, so it went to where it was supposed
- 17:17Speaker 3: to go to be exposed. And it's you know, they
- 17:20Speaker 3: did a great job. I feel like I did a
- 17:21Speaker 3: great job. Al obviously produced it. So he killed at
- 17:25Speaker 3: the beach crazy and uh, you know, we made our piece.
- 17:28Speaker 3: So you know what I'm saying, like our ours. First
- 17:33Speaker 3: of all, we're probably gonna do some joints. Great, you know,
- 17:36Speaker 3: we're gonna do some joints. And it was really cool
- 17:38Speaker 3: when I when I saw him at Havoc, at the
- 17:43Speaker 3: mob Deep at Lease party, It's like it wasn't a
- 17:47Speaker 3: lot of people, it was you know what I like upstairs.
- 17:49Speaker 2: For it was at this walked Supreme spot exactly.
- 17:52Speaker 4: The Supreme Spot was there too.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Yeah, So I walked up on them and I got
- 17:57Speaker 3: a couple of shots with my cousin.
- 17:59Speaker 4: I was with s Class Beats, but there was a
- 18:02Speaker 4: couple of us.
- 18:02Speaker 3: We walked upstairs, you know, dap everybody up and then
- 18:06Speaker 3: just uh a hugut.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Was that the first time you seen him in a while?
- 18:10Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 18:10Speaker 2: Oh wow?
- 18:11Speaker 3: And I knew he knew he knew I was going
- 18:13Speaker 3: to see him, and I knew I was going to
- 18:15Speaker 3: see him because have and stormed those my guys, like
- 18:18Speaker 3: my last album, the Gutter Album, half did all the production,
- 18:21Speaker 3: having did off from my deep, so it was dope.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Hugged him like what a nig I can't even call
- 18:25Speaker 3: him nigga.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I'm like, what a nigga?
- 18:26Speaker 3: And then he's good man. He was like, bro, I
- 18:28Speaker 3: want to do the flyd mics. I was like, yeah, man,
- 18:30Speaker 3: I'd be dope.
- 18:30Speaker 2: So I think it's like a thing if you guys
- 18:34Speaker 2: could just get one in. Yeah, yeah, so.
- 18:36Speaker 3: That's what that's that's what we're planning going to do.
- 18:40Speaker 3: But he out there with Premiere. I think right now.
- 18:44Speaker 2: He's in Europe with Yeah. It's kind of crazy. Yeah,
- 18:48Speaker 2: I was telling out amazing. I was like, bro, you
- 18:50Speaker 2: got to have a clone or something like. He's got
- 18:53Speaker 2: all these albums at the same time. He's promoting them
- 18:55Speaker 2: at once, and he's torn with Freddy, but then he
- 18:58Speaker 2: drops a hit boy album and then he's doing movie
- 19:00Speaker 2: premieres and now he's with pre I'm like.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Hey, look, you can sleep when you dead. Ain't table
- 19:06Speaker 3: what they say, he out there working so shit, one
- 19:08Speaker 3: hundred percent absolute his grind. He out there getting it
- 19:12Speaker 3: and the product is good.

- 20:54Speaker 2: are also a father of uh some incredible talents.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Thank you than.
- 20:59Speaker 2: For people who don't know who are your sons.
- 21:01Speaker 3: My sons are Raz Austin and Taj Austin. They're twins
- 21:05Speaker 3: in a group called Coast Contra.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Coast Contra has been.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Rocking.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I think they kind of brought back like I wouldn't
- 21:14Speaker 2: say they brought back the freestyle thing, but like they
- 21:16Speaker 2: literally created a buzz and and just.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Off of free style, like watch, we're gonna rap and
- 21:23Speaker 3: it's gonna be.
- 21:27Speaker 2: And it's a thing now. Yeah, man, how cool has
- 21:29Speaker 2: that been for you? As a father?
- 21:31Speaker 3: It's for one, it's surreal to me, you know, Like
- 21:35Speaker 3: I remember I remember then asking me to go to
- 21:39Speaker 3: a showcase. Yeah, and uh, you know we're doing songs together,
- 21:44Speaker 3: but I hadn't seen them perform. And I remember when
- 21:46Speaker 3: I went in, Uh, I saw my homeboy do them
- 21:49Speaker 3: tone Lopez, Uh, tone from here. Yeah, And so I
- 21:54Speaker 3: see my homie at this kind of like young boy.
- 21:57Speaker 3: You know, everybody most of the music is maybe a
- 21:59Speaker 3: little more of wavier, trappier, you know what I'm saying.
- 22:02Speaker 3: So I'm you know, I kind of you know, I'm
- 22:05Speaker 3: enjoying it, but I'm kind of like, you know, we're
- 22:08Speaker 3: like the OG's in the spot right and I'm like,
- 22:09Speaker 3: what you're doing here? He's like, I came to check
- 22:11Speaker 3: out these dudes. There's this other group who's awesome too.
- 22:15Speaker 3: And then he's like what you're doing here? I'm like, oh,
- 22:18Speaker 3: my kids is performing, you know, moral support. Anyway, they rocked,
- 22:21Speaker 3: and I remember he was like, Yo, who them niggas?
- 22:24Speaker 3: I was like, that's my kids here, and so he
- 22:27Speaker 3: just fell in love with him. He actually put him
- 22:29Speaker 3: on their first tour, the Core Day shit some Tone.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Tone is like Chris Brown's tour manager and all that,
- 22:35Speaker 3: so he like that relationship, open that door. But I
- 22:37Speaker 3: remember thinking, like when I looked at him, because I
- 22:40Speaker 3: was like, I thought they were good, but I'm.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Biased, you know what I mean.
- 22:43Speaker 3: So I couldn't get I couldn't even say if I
- 22:46Speaker 3: if I liked it or not because I felt like
- 22:47Speaker 3: I was gonna be biased. But then when Tone was like, yo,
- 22:49Speaker 3: the niggas is dope, and I was like, okay, all right,
- 22:53Speaker 3: so it's not my bias, it's actually that they are dope.
- 22:55Speaker 2: So almost like they went just like the raz Cast
- 22:57Speaker 2: School of Rackets.
- 22:59Speaker 3: They got it on his on both sides. The mom
- 23:01Speaker 3: can write Tjer Moses, she's a writer, she can. Yeah,
- 23:04Speaker 3: so they got it on both sides. Yes, that was yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 23:09Speaker 3: a great career. Yeah right, her ass offing games crazy
- 23:14Speaker 3: her and Neo, they was like that was all our
- 23:16Speaker 3: click ping gang Neo ping gang sick you right, So yeah, nah,
- 23:21Speaker 3: they got it on us on both sides. Man, I'm excited.
- 23:24Speaker 3: I'm excited because they stuck to again. People were suggesting
- 23:29Speaker 3: be trappy or do this, and they were just like
- 23:31Speaker 3: bars the same.
- 23:33Speaker 2: There's enough of that ship out there, right, Like had
- 23:35Speaker 2: they came out as like a four person group doing
- 23:37Speaker 2: that kind of music, they might not have made it right.
- 23:41Speaker 2: It's just it's not It's not like there's a missing
- 23:47Speaker 2: piece of of of like you know, the marketplace that
- 23:51Speaker 2: needs to be filled. And I feel like especially from
- 23:53Speaker 2: the younger, just.
- 23:54Speaker 4: From a younger generator. And you know what was super cool.
- 23:56Speaker 4: I was shouts out to day she played for one.
- 23:59Speaker 4: I definite wanted to thank him.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Uh. He invited me, amongst other people to the premiere
- 24:06Speaker 3: of his new Netflix special but Thundercat.
- 24:09Speaker 4: I ain't seen Thundercat in a while, so he's super.
- 24:11Speaker 3: He waves in, He's like, Yo, your kid's album, This
- 24:16Speaker 3: new album is fucking phenomenal. I'm like, they will fucking
- 24:19Speaker 3: freak out when when I you know what I'm saying
- 24:21Speaker 3: when I tell him that, like because they're a fan,
- 24:23Speaker 3: they're students, you know what I'm saying. So it was
- 24:25Speaker 3: really nice, Like, you know, thunder everybody a lot of
- 24:28Speaker 3: people don't know always know they're my kids, you know
- 24:31Speaker 3: what I'm saying, because they don't lean into that. They're
- 24:33Speaker 3: they're you know, trying to pay their own and blaze
- 24:35Speaker 3: their own trails, you know.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Real. And then the one dude is he's also like
- 24:39Speaker 2: a Spanish artist, Yeah Columbia. Yeah, well like because him
- 24:42Speaker 2: and my artists have like done like Spanish music together, bro,
- 24:45Speaker 2: And I was like, yo, that's.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Him, bro, Columbiano.
- 24:48Speaker 3: So they came, they all came the rastage and Rio
- 24:52Speaker 3: Los came together. When they graduated high school, there was seventeen.
- 24:57Speaker 3: So when they came out here, there's a third guy,
- 25:00Speaker 3: you know what I mean. I'm like, you know, I
- 25:03Speaker 3: remember one time I talked to his mom straight Spanish.
- 25:06Speaker 3: She don't speak English like that, you know what I'm saying.
- 25:08Speaker 3: So that's really Kim, you know what I'm saying. So yeah,
- 25:12Speaker 3: he a bar out and then he bar out in
- 25:14Speaker 3: Spanish like he goes.
- 25:15Speaker 2: It's crazy man.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and Eric too, like and they met Eric uh
- 25:20Speaker 3: out here yeah, but uh, like I guess like a
- 25:23Speaker 3: month or so once he like give a guy some
- 25:26Speaker 3: gumption and apparently drove out here like fucked that. I
- 25:30Speaker 3: want to ride like from Philly. So they don't kids,
- 25:33Speaker 3: and they they kept it true to themselves and I'm
- 25:35Speaker 3: grateful that the culture gave them an opportunity.
- 25:39Speaker 4: That's what I wanted to learn.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Yeah, on Assassination, you had Dre on the album, and
- 25:45Speaker 2: it was kind of like that weird like point in
- 25:48Speaker 2: time in Dre's career where like he left death Row
- 25:53Speaker 2: the Chronic two thousand and one hadn't dropped yet. I
- 25:55Speaker 2: think the only thing that came out was like the
- 25:56Speaker 2: Aftermath album, and so it was like Drey was got
- 25:59Speaker 2: kind of in limb. What's what what's your relationship with Dre? Like,
- 26:02Speaker 2: and like just talk about getting him.
- 26:05Speaker 3: I don't, I don't speak to I don't. I don't
- 26:07Speaker 3: have a negative relationship with Dre. I think everybody just
- 26:11Speaker 3: kind of uh goes in their directions.
- 26:14Speaker 4: He's he's got Dre said something to mean once that
- 26:20Speaker 4: was incredible.
- 26:21Speaker 3: He basically said he gave me his like top five
- 26:24Speaker 3: h mcs on like MTV or something, and then I
- 26:27Speaker 3: ran into him and then he was like, you know,
- 26:30Speaker 3: I give you, you know, with my top five and
- 26:32Speaker 3: I was like, I know, everybody text me.
- 26:34Speaker 4: I heard He's like he's like, I.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Don't have to.
- 26:37Speaker 3: He's like basically said, I don't have to gas like you.
- 26:39Speaker 3: He's like, my grandchildren ain't got to be shipped. The
- 26:42Speaker 3: implication being he can fuck off the bag, his kids
- 26:45Speaker 3: can funk off the bag, and their grandchildren could funk
- 26:48Speaker 3: off the bag. His great grandkids would still be fine.
- 26:52Speaker 3: I was like, bar so, yeah, No, he's always I've
- 26:55Speaker 3: learned a lot from him. I know him and exhibit
- 26:57Speaker 3: have like a lot, you know, a lot more be poor.
- 26:59Speaker 3: I haven't seen song for something. So it was, you know,
- 27:02Speaker 3: had a positive interaction.
- 27:03Speaker 2: And then did you ever like help him writing or anything.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Well, I mean I did some writing over there obviously
- 27:08Speaker 3: for Ghettle Fabulis. I wrote that verse. You know what
- 27:10Speaker 3: I'm saying. Oh, that's another thing he said. He was like,
- 27:13Speaker 3: you know, because he's never been like a dude that
- 27:17Speaker 3: like acts like he writes the ill. No, he's never
- 27:21Speaker 3: fronted that way. So he's always about like wanting to
- 27:24Speaker 3: get the best verses. So you know, yeah, I did,
- 27:27Speaker 3: I did some writing some of the suff he nothing
- 27:30Speaker 3: I did landed except for my record, the Ghetto Fabulous record.
- 27:36Speaker 3: But uh yeah, man, he's brilliant and his grandchildren ain't
- 27:42Speaker 3: got to be shiped when you.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Look back at that album, because that was It's funny
- 27:49Speaker 2: because I mean, I was born in eighty seven, right
- 27:52Speaker 2: when that album comes out.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Me too, Me too, you were born lives, I tell.
- 27:58Speaker 2: But emotionally it's because that Assassination was the first album
- 28:02Speaker 2: years I had, and then I went to the warehouse
- 28:05Speaker 2: and found so and I years, Wow. Wow, you know
- 28:08Speaker 2: what I'm saying, What do you do when you think
- 28:12Speaker 2: about because I thought there were some bangers on that album,
- 28:14Speaker 2: and that's.
- 28:14Speaker 4: I'm the kid right before Eminem.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Well that's the album that made me like a fan
- 28:18Speaker 2: of yours. But like and like, I'm like so disconnected
- 28:21Speaker 2: from like narratives and shit, I'm like this shit's hard.
- 28:24Speaker 2: But then like you hear like people be like I
- 28:26Speaker 2: was disappointing or you know, it wasn't so long. Ice, Like,
- 28:28Speaker 2: when you think back of the second album, what are
- 28:31Speaker 2: your thoughts?
- 28:31Speaker 4: I think it's the same album.
- 28:33Speaker 3: I always tell people that, so on Ice, I mean,
- 28:35Speaker 3: obviously I had an opportunity to work with Doctor Dre.
- 28:38Speaker 3: I'm not an idiot. I had an opportunity to work
- 28:40Speaker 3: with Easy Mob and Rizza.
- 28:43Speaker 4: Fuck that.
- 28:43Speaker 2: I mean of course I was going to a vampire.
- 28:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:48Speaker 3: So I mean, but here's the rub. I remember Dre.
- 28:51Speaker 3: I mean, I don't want to keep talking about Dre,
- 28:53Speaker 3: but I remember later on Dre was like after Ghetto
- 28:57Speaker 3: Fabulous and all that and Assassination come out, he was
- 29:01Speaker 3: just like, you ain't going to be a star if
- 29:02Speaker 3: you stay at that label, because think about it, he
- 29:06Speaker 3: gives me the ali Oop. The only the dude right
- 29:09Speaker 3: after me is Eminem and they get it right. They
- 29:12Speaker 3: do it right. They knocked out the park. So if
- 29:15Speaker 3: my company had just done halfway decent, he gave me
- 29:19Speaker 3: the ali Oop, gave me a fire beat that everybody
- 29:22Speaker 3: knew to tango track, Like you know what I'm saying,
- 29:24Speaker 3: matc Tin is popping over with no limit. And no
- 29:29Speaker 3: he wasn't no limit yet. He was still with Cuban
- 29:31Speaker 3: them west Side Connection. So they set me up for
- 29:36Speaker 3: when and then you know, I don't know why my
- 29:40Speaker 3: company was either unable or unwilling. And I remember Dre
- 29:43Speaker 3: because I was a little dejected because then they blamed me.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Damn they said that, Like I was like, really, like.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Because that was your last album on priority essentially.
- 29:52Speaker 4: Yeah, because exactly And then it was supposed to be
- 29:55Speaker 4: Golden Child.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Golden Child, yes, right.
- 29:57Speaker 3: So because I had to keep it was either put
- 30:01Speaker 3: out Van Gogo and fumble or Pollar record and do
- 30:04Speaker 3: a Golden Child.
- 30:05Speaker 4: And that's why I had.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I had like the Napster days, I had Golden Child.
- 30:12Speaker 2: It was on the internet.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Yeah, that's early by Wiles.
- 30:16Speaker 2: I burned the CD as you should, but it wasn't
- 30:18Speaker 2: like it still isn't out right, and then we came out,
- 30:21Speaker 2: but it's all it's out though.
- 30:22Speaker 4: I mean it exists, Yeah, but I never put it.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Yeah, are you glad that elked? I mean, because that
- 30:28Speaker 2: whole album is out. I would rather because I'm like,
- 30:31Speaker 2: I remember having that ship in my CD book.
- 30:33Speaker 4: But it was because you burned it.
- 30:34Speaker 3: It was on napstre I mean, I'm glad, you know
- 30:37Speaker 3: the point of uh, that was.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Really an early first time like a full unreleased album
- 30:44Speaker 2: had come out and never dropped.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Right.
- 30:47Speaker 3: I have some unfortunate first I definitely do, but I
- 30:54Speaker 3: would rather people hear it. And Jazzy Jeff he had
- 30:57Speaker 3: an interview where he said, die empty. So what's the
- 31:00Speaker 3: point of keeping this ship? Yeah, yeah, don't keep it?
- 31:03Speaker 3: So I'm glad at least the world got to hear
- 31:05Speaker 3: it with all the hard work of people investing in
- 31:08Speaker 3: producing it, mixing and mastering it, giving me features, you know, singing,
- 31:12Speaker 3: whatever the fuck that whole process. For nobody to hear
- 31:16Speaker 3: it would be even more of a tramal Yeah. Yeah,
- 31:19Speaker 3: so fucking I'm glad. I'm glad that.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Gave You're impossible for you to ever drop it officially
- 31:23Speaker 2: because of all the moving.
- 31:24Speaker 4: PA I could, because I don't think they even give
- 31:26Speaker 4: a fuck about it.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Yeah, just throw it up.
- 31:28Speaker 4: Yeah, some vinyls and ship. Yeah, I might.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Talk to me about how you end up coming because
- 31:36Speaker 2: there's another guy who's the alien r J. Pain. Yeah,
- 31:39Speaker 2: doctor Dre also loves Yes, Yes, absolutely, Yeah, you guys
- 31:44Speaker 2: end up dropping this joint project with Travoc last year.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Yep.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Better, How does this come come come about?
- 31:51Speaker 3: Because uh Pain, you know obviously you know you know
- 31:59Speaker 3: his freestyles, and I think I think I recall he
- 32:04Speaker 3: may have reached out to me. I'm sure we followed
- 32:09Speaker 3: each other like some ship, you know what I'm saying,
- 32:10Speaker 3: Just like ro Dope, I can't take from somebody what
- 32:13Speaker 3: God gave him, you know what I mean. So, and
- 32:15Speaker 3: then I think at some point communication was like, yo,
- 32:18Speaker 3: could you do a verse for me? Like yeah, fuck yet,
- 32:22Speaker 3: and then vice versa. So it started from there just
- 32:24Speaker 3: mutual respect. Then somebody asked somebody.
- 32:27Speaker 4: For a verse. I don't maybe it was me asking him.
- 32:28Speaker 4: I don't. I don't remember.
- 32:29Speaker 3: But and then at some point have was like I
- 32:34Speaker 3: had I had told Havoc one time about this idea.
- 32:37Speaker 3: I was like, I'm a fan of want a mob
- 32:39Speaker 3: deep album, right, And at this time it just you know,
- 32:42Speaker 3: he had passed. We were in Uh, we were in
- 32:45Speaker 3: like uh, we were in Texas.
- 32:47Speaker 4: We were in a h not Houston. Anybody does abat it,
- 32:52Speaker 4: but we were.
- 32:53Speaker 3: We were at the same he was, I was hosting,
- 32:55Speaker 3: he was performing anyway, and I was like, you should
- 32:57Speaker 3: out out.
- 32:58Speaker 4: You can never duplicate MYB deep.
- 33:01Speaker 3: What could be cool is get an East Coast rapper,
- 33:04Speaker 3: but not nobody from Queens because it's gonna be direct comparison.
- 33:09Speaker 4: That will never be my deep.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Like get a Philly nigga, get a Brooklyn nigga, and
- 33:13Speaker 3: get another nigga from somewhere else me.
- 33:16Speaker 4: That was my pitch.
- 33:17Speaker 3: I was like me, get me, get a West Coast dude,
- 33:20Speaker 3: to get an East Coast but not from Queens and
- 33:23Speaker 3: at least, you know what I'm saying, at least there's
- 33:25Speaker 3: an outlet to get on some grimy ship because I
- 33:27Speaker 3: missed that, you know what I'm saying. And uh so
- 33:30Speaker 3: he thought about it and eventually one day he was like, Yo,
- 33:33Speaker 3: we should do it. And then he was like, I
- 33:35Speaker 3: like that r J payin Nigga too. And then I
- 33:38Speaker 3: was like, bro, I'm gonna call him, and you know
- 33:40Speaker 3: what I'm saying. I asked him, you know, like, would
- 33:42Speaker 3: you be interested in rockle with me and Haley on
- 33:44Speaker 3: the project. He obliged and and we got some crazy
- 33:48Speaker 3: records on there. The math re recer with me, Meth
- 33:51Speaker 3: fame for Bmo Peek Sway Sway.
- 33:56Speaker 2: He's like, you did wake yeah?
- 33:58Speaker 3: But him like he the family a rapping on this shit.
- 34:01Speaker 3: You're talking to shit and uh uh you know, Ray
- 34:04Speaker 3: Kwan want.
- 34:04Speaker 2: To give a shout out to our family at Roken
- 34:06Speaker 2: Man Broken. Uh listen, I love these vapes Broken Cannabis.

- 34:23Speaker 2: you gotta go follow them right now. Go to Brokencannabis

- 35:10Speaker 2: dot com. Is it is it like? I feel like,
- 35:14Speaker 2: at least this year, it feels like and I think
- 35:16Speaker 2: the clips have a lot to do with it, obviously,
- 35:18Speaker 2: Freddie put out. I mean, there's been some great hip hop,
- 35:21Speaker 2: but I do feel like, you know, it feels like
- 35:27Speaker 2: the narrative is starting to shift a bit that hip
- 35:32Speaker 2: hop is a young man's.
- 35:33Speaker 4: Sport you think you think still, no, I I.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Think that like over the last decade people are like, yo,
- 35:39Speaker 2: if you're if you're an old head or what. But
- 35:42Speaker 2: I do feel like, you know, this year has kind
- 35:44Speaker 2: of shifted that thought.
- 35:46Speaker 4: Oh okay, yeah, I agree.
- 35:48Speaker 2: With you know where it's like, hey, man, like at
- 35:50Speaker 2: the end of the day, like bars.
- 35:52Speaker 4: Bars, look at nads. I mean, nas is having a fun.
- 35:54Speaker 2: And I also think there's something to be said that,
- 35:56Speaker 2: like you like, like, you know, there are people who
- 36:00Speaker 2: might stream, but they might have a shitty deal, right,
- 36:03Speaker 2: you know, they can't sell any fucking tickets, right, Really
- 36:07Speaker 2: about like how can you like really monetize and like
- 36:10Speaker 2: super serve whatever fan base you had, right, right, however
- 36:13Speaker 2: big or small, it is, right and just make the
- 36:15Speaker 2: best possible music and then when you do that, like
- 36:18Speaker 2: it can fucking reach the masses.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Like I mean, I mean at this point, you just
- 36:22Speaker 3: gave a very good example. How come it's surfing out here?
- 36:25Speaker 2: Oh my god, come on, man, it is it.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Is and he's not you know, he was born in
- 36:30Speaker 3: eighty seven too. I'm just saying we're we're just as
- 36:32Speaker 3: young as you.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Yeah, how was og at this point?
- 36:35Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying.
- 36:36Speaker 2: I mean, dude, that's the first mob deep album he
- 36:39Speaker 2: got a placement on, and that's fucking that's that's no, no,
- 36:42Speaker 2: not Hell on Earth. Sorry it was murder music. But nonetheless,
- 36:47Speaker 2: it's just crazy because I just like, just be done.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Like you said, the narrative has shifted from it's it's
- 36:53Speaker 3: a young.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Posting on r J Payne freestyle, and I'm like, maybe
- 36:57Speaker 2: we got a chance here.
- 36:58Speaker 3: You know, I think talent superseded and nobody had ever
- 37:02Speaker 3: created that narrative in any other genre before. So that
- 37:06Speaker 3: was a weird thing that we created this agism and
- 37:09Speaker 3: rap nobody did agent. Nobody tells fucking Dolly Parton that
- 37:13Speaker 3: are titch that she shouldn't have big tits and singer
- 37:15Speaker 3: country western songs. That's like everybody for rap. It got weird,
- 37:21Speaker 3: and so I'm glad that we were destroying that, and
- 37:24Speaker 3: it really got destroyed by people putting out superior product.
- 37:27Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, the clips superior product, the
- 37:30Speaker 3: soul superior product.
- 37:33Speaker 2: It's just I can't wait to hear the na Preme
- 37:34Speaker 2: wil it.
- 37:35Speaker 4: Comes out tomorrow night fucking a does it?
- 37:37Speaker 2: Yes? Next Weekend's see the next Friday or tomorrow or tonight.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Actually it's Thursday. Wowne. OKAYO you end up on the
- 37:47Speaker 2: WWF Aggression album.
- 37:48Speaker 4: Yes, I'm a huge I'm.
- 37:50Speaker 2: A huge wrestling fan behind you. Absolutely, you're on the
- 37:55Speaker 2: trileh song mystical? Yes, how does that happen? In like
- 38:00Speaker 2: like like that's but because this is straight attitude era,
- 38:04Speaker 2: the fucking best time in wrestling, they put out a
- 38:07Speaker 2: fucking album where all these rappers are remixing the theme
- 38:09Speaker 2: songs and ship.
- 38:11Speaker 3: That that those are the brainchilds of Parorty Records. They always,
- 38:16Speaker 3: for some reason they would get most of the soundtrack
- 38:19Speaker 3: and they pitched it and and and kind.
- 38:23Speaker 4: Of paired us.
- 38:25Speaker 3: I probably would say Andrew Shack may have called those
- 38:27Speaker 3: audibles impaired me with misico who I was. I'm a
- 38:30Speaker 3: fan of music beat and you know what I'm saying.
- 38:33Speaker 3: And so yeah, that was kind of corporate uh suit
- 38:38Speaker 3: thinking at its finest. That's when they did a good job.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Like that's back then it's not as easy to email you.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Are you in a mystical getting in or is that like.
- 38:46Speaker 4: You go in the studio. Yeah, yeah, I had to
- 38:50Speaker 4: go recurd ship.
- 38:50Speaker 3: There was no there was yeah, yeah, there was no Yeah,
- 38:53Speaker 3: there was no pro I mean yeah, there wasn't even
- 38:55Speaker 3: pro toos R back then.
- 38:56Speaker 2: I don't think probably not, Yeah, I don't think it
- 38:59Speaker 2: was pro tools just.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Real yeah, and yeah you gotta go in there and
- 39:03Speaker 3: go say yo ship and then take the two big
- 39:06Speaker 3: ass rails and bring them somewhere else.
- 39:09Speaker 2: What what you know, you were kind of a part
- 39:11Speaker 2: of so many errors of what I would call like
- 39:14Speaker 2: the underground.
- 39:15Speaker 3: You know, I am the Forrest Gump of hip hop.
- 39:18Speaker 3: I've been everywhere. I'm in every picture, right.
- 39:22Speaker 2: I mean true though, because like you're a part of
- 39:24Speaker 2: this like West Coast like renaissance with the X and
- 39:28Speaker 2: and it's it's very much like it's very underground esque
- 39:32Speaker 2: because like at that same time you got like dilated
- 39:34Speaker 2: people and all that and like J five and and
- 39:39Speaker 2: then like you end up on like though like like
- 39:40Speaker 2: raucous record ship like the lyrics clown like and then
- 39:43Speaker 2: you're like a lot of a lot of wood tang ship,
- 39:45Speaker 2: the day Walker, man, I'm all over the day. What
- 39:49Speaker 2: was kind of like your favorite era of just the
- 39:52Speaker 2: underground rap ship because it feels like it's always evolving.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Like I feel like nowadays underground hip hop is like
- 40:00Speaker 2: they're like super like weird gothic kids who like wear
- 40:05Speaker 2: like fucking giant pants and like are like like idolized
- 40:08Speaker 2: Playboy CARDI.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Like, right, right, I don't know if I have a
- 40:13Speaker 3: favorite era, I do, you know, I think of I
- 40:18Speaker 3: think a Unity Man rest in Peace, Big of Bee,
- 40:20Speaker 3: who also worked at.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Loud at abb Record.
- 40:23Speaker 4: Yeah, so that was because.
- 40:26Speaker 2: That's where a lot of people met, right, yeah, yeah,
- 40:28Speaker 2: you know that's Look. My best friend's brother is Raka.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Oh wow, so I've known, right, my best friend I've
- 40:35Speaker 2: known since three His big brother is Iris Science Wow.
- 40:38Speaker 2: So I kind of came up like as like a
- 40:41Speaker 2: little dirty white kid taking.
- 40:44Speaker 3: In all this shit, you know, but you know, so
- 40:47Speaker 3: you are you are already, but you so you started
- 40:50Speaker 3: this ship when.
- 40:51Speaker 2: I was artist. When I was fourteen years old, I
- 40:53Speaker 2: was chilling in a Fat Beat's office fucking for the
- 40:57Speaker 2: Expansion Team release thing. Rod Digger perform that fucking Then
- 41:02Speaker 2: there was the release show with I think J five. Yeah,
- 41:07Speaker 2: like we're coming out here to La my parents by
- 41:08Speaker 2: the way, very liberal with allowing me to get in
- 41:11Speaker 2: the car with my sixteen year old homie and drive
- 41:12Speaker 2: the Los Angeles. But yeah, change my life. What do
- 41:18Speaker 2: you feel like? I always say this, like, uh, there
- 41:21Speaker 2: isn't enough of There's so much travesty going on in
- 41:26Speaker 2: the world right now, stuff that I feel like there
- 41:31Speaker 2: that should be represented in hip hop more musically, we
- 41:37Speaker 2: talked about nature of the threat. Obviously you've worked with
- 41:39Speaker 2: a mortal. I always say, who's our immortal technique? Right now?
- 41:42Speaker 2: We don't have like somebody who's like and maybe I'm
- 41:44Speaker 2: just like missing out on it because there are people
- 41:46Speaker 2: who are speaking up in shit, But there's so much
- 41:47Speaker 2: going on that what's going on in Gaza geopolitically, there's.
- 41:51Speaker 4: A lot happening in the zone. Man.
- 41:52Speaker 2: It's like, I just I did a song.
- 41:55Speaker 3: I did a song on a free EP That ep
- 41:59Speaker 3: is called FOP fuck Around find Out, And I got
- 42:02Speaker 3: a song called who the Victim? And that ship's like
- 42:05Speaker 3: one of them epic six minute songs. I mean, I
- 42:10Speaker 3: can make it. If nobody listens, that's not my fa I.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Just I just think I think back then, it's like
- 42:15Speaker 2: we think about like I guess the conscious hip hop
- 42:21Speaker 2: was was was semi commercial back in the day, like
- 42:24Speaker 2: it had there was like gold Records, you know what
- 42:26Speaker 2: I like? Yeah, like Common was catching blacks, right, I
- 42:30Speaker 2: just like I just I just don't know who that
- 42:31Speaker 2: is like now, like that that is like on like
- 42:34Speaker 2: at least like from a certain generation that maybe still
- 42:36Speaker 2: has like like crazy commercial viability. That's just like, yo,
- 42:39Speaker 2: let me put out a crazy record that just breaks
- 42:42Speaker 2: people's brains.
- 42:46Speaker 4: I think, uh, I think j I D sometimes j
- 42:50Speaker 4: I D. You know what I'm saying. Yeah, So I
- 42:53Speaker 4: mean he said some you know.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Like Denzel Curry is incredible and he just removed all
- 42:58Speaker 2: his music from streaming services in Israel. So if you're
- 43:02Speaker 2: in Israel, you can't listen to to Denzel Korey.
- 43:05Speaker 4: And I.
- 43:07Speaker 3: Can't ruin it. It's people making stands. We all do
- 43:12Speaker 3: our part and and and some people's platforms are going
- 43:14Speaker 3: to be bigger than others.
- 43:15Speaker 2: My thing is like I used to learn from music, right,
- 43:20Speaker 2: but just to catch gems. I'm like, wait, I didn't
- 43:23Speaker 2: what like talk about your.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Song you must learn from me? I was it was
- 43:27Speaker 3: facts in there, you know.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Like there's ship where you're like damn, like like people
- 43:31Speaker 2: used to be able to like learn ship, and I'm like,
- 43:33Speaker 2: who's like putting like you know what I'm saying, Like
- 43:36Speaker 2: if I'm like like, I feel like it'd be dope
- 43:39Speaker 2: if with someone like you know, like a J I
- 43:41Speaker 2: D or someone in that generation just said, Hey, I'm
- 43:43Speaker 2: gonna do ten joints and it's gonna be fucking radical.
- 43:47Speaker 4: Put put it out there in the universe.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Who would you want?
- 43:54Speaker 3: They got to be smart enough qualified to at least
- 43:56Speaker 3: speak on it. See, that's the thing some people's true
- 43:59Speaker 3: because I don't know Michael.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Felt people to just throw some ship out in the
- 44:04Speaker 2: world and then people be like, well, that's not even
- 44:05Speaker 2: like let me fact check this song, right, huh. I
- 44:08Speaker 2: don't know, man who is very stooped. I think Jad
- 44:12Speaker 2: he is a prettiest stude guy.
- 44:13Speaker 3: Yeah, he comes off and comes never mat but he
- 44:16Speaker 3: comes off his I think I like that word to
- 44:19Speaker 3: a stud who would really fuck the ship, Like we
- 44:24Speaker 3: just got gn X from Kendrick. Can you imagine and
- 44:26Speaker 3: that's like all bops?
- 44:28Speaker 4: Right?
- 44:28Speaker 2: Can you imagine if he followed up with like in
- 44:33Speaker 2: the Universe the Public Enemy ship.
- 44:38Speaker 3: He could pull an all star cast and murder death
- 44:41Speaker 3: Kill it, and he's the guy that could get Chuck
- 44:44Speaker 3: d on the hook with blah blah blah. I mean,
- 44:47Speaker 3: let's come on, top dog, come on man, let's put
- 44:52Speaker 3: it together.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Break because I remember there was like a discussion about
- 44:55Speaker 2: how you had almost had a situation with Jay Z
- 44:58Speaker 2: and Rockefeller West. Is that something like what break that down?
- 45:02Speaker 3: They were starting the bunt of Rockefeller West. We were
- 45:06Speaker 3: label made so Jay jay Z's first album rehe down priority,
- 45:10Speaker 3: So then uh and then party fumbled on him, but
- 45:13Speaker 3: he had out the biggest completely fumbuddy.
- 45:17Speaker 2: And good for him that they fled. He might career, he'd.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Be he definitely wouldn't trust and but he had it out.
- 45:24Speaker 3: I didn't have the same out that Jay had. He
- 45:26Speaker 3: got in and out one out. Well, what it is
- 45:29Speaker 3: is he was in a production deal. So his production deal,
- 45:35Speaker 3: you gotta remember it was Rockefeller Freeze Priority, which is
- 45:39Speaker 3: Todd Terry Freeze was Todd Terry. Todd Terry made all
- 45:43Speaker 3: his money producing house songs. You black dude, but he
- 45:47Speaker 3: made house music for Madonna, so his bag was cra
- 45:50Speaker 3: So when they wanted when Pararty fucked up Jay and
- 45:55Speaker 3: then were able to hit Todd and say drop us
- 45:59Speaker 3: and not severed the connection, and then Jay immediately went
- 46:02Speaker 3: to death.
- 46:03Speaker 4: Jam.
- 46:03Speaker 3: If I could have got part I mean, I'm right,
- 46:08Speaker 3: if I could have got fucking patchworks at the time.
- 46:10Speaker 2: To technically, Warre and g saved the label deaf Jam. Technically, yeah,
- 46:16Speaker 2: there was there was.
- 46:16Speaker 3: There was a time for a long stretch where and
- 46:19Speaker 3: you know big Snoop is.
- 46:21Speaker 4: But in Europe it was Warren.
- 46:23Speaker 2: I don't think people understand the Warren g run Bro.
- 46:26Speaker 2: It was fucking crazy.
- 46:27Speaker 4: He bro.
- 46:28Speaker 3: We'd be doing festivals and you know in La what
- 46:32Speaker 3: you would expect in New York. Warren was the man
- 46:36Speaker 3: like Big Records, Big they hit that. He picked the
- 46:38Speaker 3: right ship.
- 46:39Speaker 2: So you and Z label made yeah. So yeah, so.
- 46:42Speaker 3: They brought me in one summer. I swear we just
- 46:46Speaker 3: had this conversation last night. This is crazy that you
- 46:48Speaker 3: that you So I'm living at Jay had two apartments
- 46:54Speaker 3: his uh one sixty. I forgot what it is State
- 46:58Speaker 3: Street anyway, it's this apartment, uh, you know, gated in
- 47:02Speaker 3: downtown Brooklyn by the by the big gass clock in
- 47:05Speaker 3: Brooklyn State Street. So I'm standing there, Tata his guy
- 47:10Speaker 3: taught you, yeah, right hand and be high.
- 47:15Speaker 4: His cousin.
- 47:16Speaker 3: So I stayed for the summer to you know, to
- 47:21Speaker 3: create some music and see if if it's a good fit.
- 47:24Speaker 3: And then uh he uh, I fumbled. I fumbled on
- 47:32Speaker 3: the one we went. I feel like, what what what
- 47:35Speaker 3: the music was coming out?
- 47:37Speaker 4: Though. We went out to a club one night. Me,
- 47:40Speaker 4: it's just me and Jay.
- 47:41Speaker 2: What year is this? Two thousand somewhere.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Not tety seven? Is sho okay? Okay, because this is
- 47:49Speaker 3: before rassassination. I go out there working onsasination. That's why
- 47:53Speaker 3: I had that the Waterproof jazz O produced it. So yeah,
- 47:57Speaker 3: So we went out that night. I had been there
- 48:00Speaker 3: for like a month. Blue came my or other cousin
- 48:03Speaker 3: Blue can't be as blue, that's our cousin Blue Vinci,
- 48:06Speaker 3: so he would they would come, you know what I'm saying,
- 48:09Speaker 3: come hang out with me. But long story short, we
- 48:11Speaker 3: went to a club one night and there was some tension.
- 48:18Speaker 3: It was some beef. I won't mention the other people,
- 48:22Speaker 3: but it's just me and Jay and uh this was
- 48:27Speaker 3: a really big, like goon size, and I remember like
- 48:30Speaker 3: Jay was cool as a fiddle and then one of
- 48:34Speaker 3: the niggas.
- 48:35Speaker 4: Like you you you were you with him?
- 48:37Speaker 3: And I'm like, yeah, I mean, like, you know, that's
- 48:39Speaker 3: the homie man I came with, bro, you know what
- 48:41Speaker 3: I'm saying. So I started drinking Hennessy because I'm just like,
- 48:44Speaker 3: we're gonna get fucked up tonight. Like these niggas big.
- 48:48Speaker 3: I know, Jay a tall nigga, but these niggas is
- 48:50Speaker 3: goons are like four of them. I'm like, we're gonna
- 48:52Speaker 3: get fucked up. So I started drinking, preparing to get
- 48:54Speaker 3: beat up because if they if they fire on Jay,
- 48:58Speaker 3: then I got.
- 48:58Speaker 2: You know, you gotta be you gotta be.
- 49:00Speaker 4: A little ass.
- 49:01Speaker 3: So I'm like, fuck, I'm as well just numb. I mean,
- 49:04Speaker 3: I'm a numb up ahead of time. So I got
- 49:06Speaker 3: really really drunk, and then Jay jumped on the mic
- 49:10Speaker 3: and barred out spin some ship party packedge five you
- 49:13Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. Whatever, And he barred out and
- 49:15Speaker 3: then he's like, I got my I got my man
- 49:17Speaker 3: out here from La Rads Cat's crowd with me. I'm
- 49:20Speaker 3: so drunk, I can't say my I'm fumble. That was
- 49:23Speaker 3: one of my biggest kid of shit. So and I
- 49:25Speaker 3: remember it just I lost the crowd. I lost the momntum,
- 49:30Speaker 3: you know which is why I take this shiit seriously.
- 49:33Speaker 3: But it was I felt like I should have got
- 49:35Speaker 3: credit because I was prepared for us to get beat up,
- 49:38Speaker 3: you know so, But but when it's time to spit
- 49:42Speaker 3: them bars, you got to do your stuff. Nobody wanted
- 49:44Speaker 3: to could a shita would us? So I fumbled on
- 49:46Speaker 3: the one and I think from there dissipated and it
- 49:48Speaker 3: was the relationship was never the same again.
- 49:50Speaker 2: So at that point in time, he was already plotting
- 49:53Speaker 2: doing a West Coast version of Rockefeller, because that's early
- 49:55Speaker 2: ninety seven, is like Rockefeller is not like no, no,
- 49:58Speaker 2: you know, yeah, I mean he was up because ninety
- 50:03Speaker 2: seven Volume one comes out in ninety seven, right.
- 50:05Speaker 4: Right, yeah, probably value one.
- 50:07Speaker 2: Yeah, so obviously he's still fucking jay Z.
- 50:09Speaker 3: But yeah, well hen fucked around, you know, he went
- 50:13Speaker 3: from zero to like gold to platinum, and then it was.
- 50:16Speaker 2: Like, yeah, once volume two happened, it was like, should say, oh,
- 50:20Speaker 2: this is because then he headlines a hard Knock Life tour,
- 50:23Speaker 2: which was crazy. The DMX shdn't the headline that, if
- 50:25Speaker 2: I'm just being honest, at that time, it's kind of crazy.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Resting piece of DMX.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Hey, we got to wrap up this interview another one
- 50:31Speaker 1: presented by hard Dan. Baby you already know what it is.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Shout out to Hardeen for presenting another episode of the
- 50:36Speaker 2: Bootleg podcast. Don't forget when you're in Vegas, you're getting
- 50:39Speaker 2: that tax, youre getting that uber say take me to Harden,
- 50:42Speaker 2: the number one cannabis dispensary in the world. Premium selection
- 50:46Speaker 2: of the craziest gas you could ever ask for, and
- 50:48Speaker 2: then they break down all what all the turps mean.
- 50:51Speaker 2: It's incredible. Go to Hardan Underscore Las Vegas. Shoot him
- 50:54Speaker 2: a follow, and when you're in Las Vegas and make
- 50:56Speaker 2: sure you shoot them a visit. Talk to me about
- 50:58Speaker 2: the four Horsemen thing. It feels like one of the
- 51:00Speaker 2: more like interesting, a lot of weird moving parts. You
- 51:04Speaker 2: guys ended up putting on an album I think was
- 51:06Speaker 2: a part of that.
- 51:06Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I call it. I call it
- 51:08Speaker 3: our debut debut finale.
- 51:12Speaker 2: Yeah, one and done. Huh.
- 51:14Speaker 3: I was like, clothes absolutely, I literally got I called
- 51:19Speaker 3: it the Last Ride or something like that. That was
- 51:21Speaker 3: the name of the album. My whole ship and I
- 51:22Speaker 3: said at the end of the album, I was like, yeah,
- 51:26Speaker 3: this is this is our debut finale. We did one
- 51:28Speaker 3: one and done. Fuck this shit, put a fork in it.
- 51:31Speaker 3: I think I said some ship like that on the last.
- 51:32Speaker 4: Song, but it was It's hard.
- 51:36Speaker 3: Look, man, it's hard being in a group with one
- 51:40Speaker 3: like think about it, Pete Rock and sales move or
- 51:43Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Not many groups last.
- 51:44Speaker 3: It's hard because there's a lot of That's why I
- 51:46Speaker 3: look at coach cons I'm like, damn that, you know,
- 51:50Speaker 3: with that many different people, personalities, ego, potentially all these
- 51:56Speaker 3: other things, external factors. Some some dudes, girl might be
- 52:00Speaker 3: bedroom talking him. They you the best, baby, fuck them
- 52:03Speaker 3: and it could really go wrong. So with that being said,
- 52:07Speaker 3: there's four of us with different careers. They also have
- 52:15Speaker 3: different parachutes. Hill Breeze got Wu Tang Clan, Corrupt, got
- 52:19Speaker 3: dog pound Snoop Cannabis. At the time, he still got
- 52:22Speaker 3: fucking Lauren Hill and all that time. Job right, no, no, no, now,
- 52:27Speaker 3: But I'm talking about back then.
- 52:28Speaker 2: Back then, he back then, back then cannabis has the
- 52:30Speaker 2: white class.
- 52:31Speaker 4: He got white clubs. That's what I'm saying.
- 52:33Speaker 3: I'm kind of the only one without a squad, so
- 52:35Speaker 3: we could never get it all the way together. And
- 52:38Speaker 3: then I'm fucking I'm gonna tell the truth. We worked
- 52:41Speaker 3: on the songs we had, like originally we had like
- 52:44Speaker 3: we gonna be seven songs, and then uh, I went
- 52:48Speaker 3: to jail and by the time I came out, Uh,
- 52:53Speaker 3: this ship is out like it's bootleg you get here,
- 52:56Speaker 3: but it's eight. It's that So so we got But
- 53:01Speaker 3: I don't know who did well. Hilopriice always said, Dreddy
- 53:04Speaker 3: treddi Coueger from in New York, excuse me, bootleged us.
- 53:08Speaker 3: But we didn't get no money and the songs wasn't mixed.
- 53:11Speaker 3: So my whole thing was COVID gave me an opportunity
- 53:14Speaker 3: because I still had all the you know, all the sessions, right,
- 53:18Speaker 3: you know, we all did. We had the right to
- 53:19Speaker 3: have the sessions. But they don't be giving a fuck.
- 53:21Speaker 4: Corrupt. I ain't gonna hold on session. You don't care,
- 53:23Speaker 4: you know what I mean. So I had, you know.
- 53:25Speaker 2: Like corrupts the kind of guy you just tell him
- 53:27Speaker 2: when and where to show up.
- 53:28Speaker 3: Right, and then he's gonna bar it out and he's
- 53:29Speaker 3: gonna kill he gonna come up with a great hook.
- 53:31Speaker 4: But me, I'm sei.
- 53:33Speaker 3: Responsible with the music ship, with the organization, you know,
- 53:38Speaker 3: and so I just kind of I was working on
- 53:40Speaker 3: some albums and then I remember I had you know,
- 53:43Speaker 3: it was COVID. I was lied down time, so I
- 53:46Speaker 3: was just you know, I was able to. I just
- 53:48Speaker 3: remember I just was scrolling through my hard drive and
- 53:51Speaker 3: uh yeah, my flash drive and it's said Horseman. I
- 53:54Speaker 3: opened it and I saw this incomplete shit. I was like,
- 53:56Speaker 3: you know what, we should just do it. I'll just
- 53:59Speaker 3: put it all again. Sort of cool thing was I
- 54:02Speaker 3: put all these records together. You know, I kind of
- 54:04Speaker 3: had the glue take one verse from here, this Cannabis
- 54:07Speaker 3: verse from this one. And then I started kind of
- 54:09Speaker 3: finding production because you know what I'm saying, some of
- 54:12Speaker 3: the production was outdated.
- 54:15Speaker 4: Find some new beans curated around that. You know.
- 54:19Speaker 3: You know, Chino excel Rect of Peace laid one of
- 54:22Speaker 3: the probably. I told him it was the MVP verse
- 54:25Speaker 3: of that album. But and then the cool thing we
- 54:28Speaker 3: did was my man Glitch. His name is Gift the Glitch.
- 54:32Speaker 3: He's like a visual he was crazy man. So he
- 54:37Speaker 3: did all the artwork. We made a we made a
- 54:39Speaker 3: poster about Bumph the size of you know, but it
- 54:44Speaker 3: was square right, yeah, like that whatever, And we went
- 54:48Speaker 3: dro to Vegas, went to Corrupt House, put put the
- 54:53Speaker 3: album cover pitch up and I said, don't say nothing,
- 54:57Speaker 3: and I just pressed play and then uh, and.
- 55:01Speaker 2: This is all He's just hear these verses for the
- 55:02Speaker 2: first time. When I do why did I record this?
- 55:06Speaker 4: Right, he's freaking out.
- 55:07Speaker 3: He's looking at the artwork and he's hearing the album
- 55:10Speaker 3: and and the cool thing is that, you know, and
- 55:12Speaker 3: it maybe it was very instrumental, especially helping me, because
- 55:14Speaker 3: he had some cannabis verses and so, you know, we
- 55:17Speaker 3: never would negate that we had already set up a deal,
- 55:20Speaker 3: and so I was able to say, if you say yes,
- 55:26Speaker 3: I have a thousands of dollars I have I have this.
- 55:29Speaker 3: I'm gonna PayPal you if you say yes. After he
- 55:32Speaker 3: heard the whole cannabis everybody got I did everything, you.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Did, everyone the same presentation. Yeah, like, look it's.
- 55:39Speaker 3: Even got to do nothing. Here's here's the artwork, played
- 55:43Speaker 3: the music. He wants some money, right, and we did it.
- 55:47Speaker 3: So and it was what what was that?
- 55:49Speaker 2: What was was? It feels like it feels kind of
- 55:53Speaker 2: like interesting that you and cannabis kind of have like
- 55:56Speaker 2: similar similar I feel like he's kind of like the
- 55:59Speaker 2: East Coast Rascal cast if you will, like really, when
- 56:01Speaker 2: I think of just like lyrical ability, oh yeah, he's
- 56:04Speaker 2: insane and just like supposed to be like the savior
- 56:08Speaker 2: of like because.
- 56:09Speaker 4: But he got the opportunities I didn't get them.
- 56:12Speaker 2: No, I agree, And he also like, you know, I
- 56:14Speaker 2: think Cannabis is an interesting.
- 56:15Speaker 4: Film, right yeah.
- 56:16Speaker 2: When him, I was like, yeah, nice guy, Yeah, different definitely.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Man. Here, I'm gonna tell you my Cannabis story. This
- 56:23Speaker 3: is one I knew Cannabis was something else. I was
- 56:27Speaker 3: dating this Puerto Rican girl. She looked like faith Evans,
- 56:32Speaker 3: but she was not Faith Ovans. But anyway, what's up
- 56:35Speaker 3: with that out there?
- 56:37Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 56:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, girls, her friend was finer than her. She
- 56:42Speaker 3: was she was pretty. Yeah, friend was fire. We all
- 56:45Speaker 3: go out one night in the City of New York
- 56:47Speaker 3: like whatever. We buy the water by the pier, and
- 56:50Speaker 3: I remember Cannabis started like she. I remember the girls
- 56:52Speaker 3: trying to like flirt with him, and she's like, oh,
- 56:57Speaker 3: it's really nice out here, and this thinker started talking
- 57:00Speaker 3: about yeah, you know, and then the trajectory in the
- 57:03Speaker 3: UFO's land and I'm like, God, damn it, nigga, like
- 57:07Speaker 3: just tell her it's nice out here and touch her butt,
- 57:10Speaker 3: my nigga. What the fun went so well? And then
- 57:16Speaker 3: he wrote his number down, but he wrote it in
- 57:18Speaker 3: words one oh any and.
- 57:26Speaker 2: That is seven like this, that's like cannabish. Ever heard bro,
- 57:31Speaker 2: Bro He lives life like he wraps.
- 57:33Speaker 4: Yes, he's absolutely who he says he is. Man. Yeah,
- 57:38Speaker 4: that was That's my story.
- 57:40Speaker 2: One of your trademarks. You're kind of like the Raisor
- 57:43Speaker 2: Ramona hip hop. I mean because you you had that
- 57:46Speaker 2: motherfucking toothpick cracking. I got him for years. You were
- 57:51Speaker 2: like the guy who like always had the toothpick.
- 57:53Speaker 4: But the whole ship was that was channeling Fonzie.
- 57:57Speaker 2: Yeah, the funds it was. I thought it was flying
- 58:00Speaker 2: some cool ship. Yeah, you see the father Razor Ramon.
- 58:04Speaker 4: That that was the whole. That's the that's the whole. Uh.
- 58:09Speaker 3: And the secondary part was me an exhibit that said
- 58:12Speaker 3: at the time we didn't have I think maybe we
- 58:14Speaker 3: got our record deals and we was like, uh, we
- 58:17Speaker 3: should stop smoking. I was smoking beadies and he was
- 58:20Speaker 3: smoking weed.
- 58:21Speaker 2: It's an oral fixation.
- 58:22Speaker 3: So yeah, so I was like I might train myself
- 58:26Speaker 3: two pick straws right by up with straw Bro. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 58:32Speaker 3: but yeah, but smoking didn't stop smoking either, so it
- 58:36Speaker 3: just gave me another bad habit.
- 58:38Speaker 4: But I liked but I liked the two pick because
- 58:39Speaker 4: it looked cool.
- 58:40Speaker 2: Would you know? I feel like anything is possible these days.
- 58:46Speaker 2: Have you an ex ever kicked the ball around of
- 58:50Speaker 2: like trying to do something with some of these Golden
- 58:53Speaker 2: State songs?
- 58:55Speaker 4: We had that conversation I just saw on Monday, So.
- 58:59Speaker 2: I think it is possible twenty twenty five. Everyone's independence.
- 59:02Speaker 4: I'm trying to figure out he brought it up. He
- 59:04Speaker 4: brought that up.
- 59:06Speaker 3: He brought that up to me a month ago or more. So,
- 59:11Speaker 3: if that son he wants to do, I'm cool with that,
- 59:16Speaker 3: you know what I mean. There's I think there's something
- 59:20Speaker 3: we wanted to do, as far as we just have
- 59:22Speaker 3: to make sure that the State and right it's done,
- 59:27Speaker 3: because apparently there isn't a whole Severe album that then
- 59:31Speaker 3: that would allow us. And think about it, if there's
- 59:33Speaker 3: two verses per song, let alone, if there's three, and
- 59:37Speaker 3: then all you need is three, you know what I mean?
- 59:39Speaker 4: Yeah, and three of the songs out of the ten.
- 59:42Speaker 2: Yeah, even if you guys just did a fucking EP
- 59:45Speaker 2: an EPU YouTube like some I want some on him. No,
- 59:49Speaker 2: I mean I think that would be right, but if
- 59:51Speaker 2: you couldn't figure out the estate situation.
- 59:53Speaker 3: I think they're working on it so that I say
- 59:55Speaker 3: that to say, like the whole album that matter of fact,
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: shout out mugs too, because I asked bugs, I need
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: you for five mics, sir, you know.
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: You gotta come. You're gonna host the something for me?
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: You know my party?
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: Five mikes? Yeah? Man, that needs you. Man.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Man, what an era when five mics used to matter?
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: Yeah, well that we're channeling that kind of energy.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: What do you think is the biggest source fumble over
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: rating of all time? There's a lot of albums that
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: didn't get five mics. It got four and a half
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: or four. That's fucking crazy. The biggest Doggie Style didn't
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: get five mics.
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: Yeah, that was bullshit.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: That's a tame.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: Yeah, that was bullshit. Some fact Soul on Ice and Night.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: When if it would have came out when it was
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: supposed to come out, which would have been ninety early
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: ninety five, I would have got six bikes.
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: I would have been the only person to get six
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: bikes mics.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: They were gonna get because they gave Nads five and
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: then they hurt nature to thread and all this other shit,
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: and he were gonna give me six. I promised to
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: God from lying I'm flying, but then they heard my album.
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: Then I had to go negotiate for a year and
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: all this other shit. So by the time he came
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: down there, Yeah, it just.
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: It was old.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: That's crazy if you think about like I guess like
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: XXL shit was cool, but it just never has been.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: And then the thing that sucked is when you kind
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: of figured and I guess like from a fan's perspective,
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: you don't think about like politics of going the ratings
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: and right, but like you're like, oh, some of those
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: five mic albums definitely got paid for. Oh yeah yeah,
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: like all like no disrespect to Little Kim because she
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: got a five mic album for the Torri's Kim and
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: it's a good album, but.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: It's not five mikes. No no disrespect, no disrespect. Yeah,
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: I love it.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Four mics?
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Five?
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: Did mob did get any five?
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: No?
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: See, that's the same.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: Yeah, the infamous THINKI five mics?
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: That's crazy.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: And then like uh, only built for Cuban links. I
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: think was four and a half.
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: That's insane. Jesus Christ.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Now there's some shit where you just this is just crazy.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: All right. So you're working on an album called Leopard
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Eats Face. Yes, sir, you just dropped the record with
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: Smith and Wesson.
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: Yeah, forty two in honor of a man Jackie Robinson.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: Sorry Tretch from Naughty by Natures on the album.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: Yeah, that song is called scar Tissue and My Man
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: Wives p Yeah.
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: So we dropped two singles this this quarter. The record
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: comes out first quarter next year, so uh, the rest
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: kind of floating out the rest of the year, and
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: then January we start dropping a couple more singles.
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: But we got a lot of Uh.
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: I hate when I can't remember who did shit but
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: beat Minors production whatever trade's on the album.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: Yeah, you're You've had such a crazy synergy with the
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: East Coast. Yeah, man, your entire career.
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: Yeah, people thought even.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: I could the day Walker, I really could, you know,
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: they they I think the fairness of New York is
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: that ultimately, if you could rap good, they give you
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: a chair. They don't give a fuck, you know what
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: I'm saying. That's why people can talk about eminem They're
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: just like fucked.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: Were you like you're active during the time that all
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: this shit's happening East Coast West Coast ship? Obviously? Is
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: it like a because you know, if you watched I
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: just I've watched every fucking documentary about the Tupac being
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: ship that's probably ever been made that but rewatching the
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: Diddy have did you watch the Diddy things?
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: I was just about to ask you that I have
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: not yet.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: Everybody, it's it's really good, but fifty strikes again.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: Man, No, but it's good and like a lot a
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: lot of the stuff like in there, like I'd already
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: kind of known, but you know, it really kind of
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: paints a like I wasn't super like hip to Ditty's
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: connections with the crips in La right, and then the
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: dude who's like his og from Harlem was kind of
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: middleman and a lot of that ship. So it does
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: seem like there is some smoke there on the right.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: And if you're Diddy, who we've known to be like
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: a pretty vindictive, like crazy motherfucker, it would make sense
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: if he was trying to rub out Sugar and because
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: he these motherfuckers have been embarrassing you. So it's like
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: but with that being said in the documentary, there was
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: like Eric Sherman was saying, this was not like some
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: East coast West coast ship. It was death Row versus
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: bad Boy. Yeah, like it was created. It was hyped
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: up by the media versus West.
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: It was.
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: It was always I meaning method Man is on fucking
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: all eyes on me, right, Yeah, bot Camp Clip used
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: to work with Pa you know what I'm saying.
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: Of course that was his. Yeah, that was his.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: It was called One Nation and it was it was
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: boot camp with with with thug like and not dug
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: like with dow Laws right packing them. Yeah, yeah, everybody.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: I was always Oc was my big bro. And I
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: was running around, like I said, with jay Z and
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: the Rangers and Bleak Memphis Bleak like, yeah, I was.
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: It was really about even when Po Pok wasn't there
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: yet when he got shot. When I went to live
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: with jay Z, it was his apartment on something. You know,
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: just that that summer a big summer camp at Jame's apartment.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: But he Uh what was I saying?
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: Uh? I forgot my point.
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: We're talking about. You were saying that essentially when Pa
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Trick got.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, I had to I hit one and other
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: homie Bunny Bee is bun and just say like I
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: caught you know, I politically, I just felt like I
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: didn't want to, you know, just honor nobody, but in
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: general not checking in or nothing like that. But I
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: did let them know, like, hey man, I'm gonna go
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: stay over at jay Z's and you know, because I
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: know he didn't like has Jack and he felt like
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: and Jimmy Henchman, you know what I'm saying. And we
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: worked at Henchman Studio. So I wanted to make sure
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: like I didn't look like I was tradering. So it
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: was some you didn't want the street problems. I don't
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: want to she was mad at me. I don't want
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: pop mad at me, you know what I mean? And
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: and he was getting mad at people.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: You know, Hey, you know what's crazy all time rappers
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: who raped from their stomach is you and Tupac. You
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: guys really you guys both raped from like from the gun, Yeah,
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: from the gut?
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: Does that make sense?
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: When you said that right now, I just thought I
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: was like, yeah, you a park wrap from the gut.
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: You guys have similar like you know who's on the
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Carson Mount Rushmore of hip hop.
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: Who y'all tried, man, because they fuck you up.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: Now that's the home and a great out to uh
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: good folks. The boy d boys dope too.

- 1:06:50Speaker 3: and we finally got one.
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: He did one for me and I did one for
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: his new album solo. Man.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, uh, and it's some it's
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: some younger brothers I member names best. Carson got a
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: deep bench, That's what I'm saying. Like we got I
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: just I'm just I need to get even more familiar
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: because it's it's I heard. She looked like she was
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: mixed with like some morning black girl and maybe Filipino
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: and black girl. And she had bars like and she
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: doing some numbers.
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: That's starting to pos.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: As a kid from Phoenix, I never knew what Carson
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: was before I listened to you. So yeah, uh.
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: Yeah, my mount Rushmore for right now, I'll leave it
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: at Boo Yard tried absolute and I'm buying something.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: I put me right, No, but you, I mean you
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: kind of built the mountain.
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: Chi cool, all right, I'll take it. I'll take that,
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: thank you.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: How did you come up with the calling yourself the
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: waterproof mc oh man?
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: Uh? Do used always say water off a duck's ass
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: because it's waterproof, you know what I'm saying? Like never
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: like even they feathers waterpool, but the ducks ass has
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: got to be super waterproof, tight and puckered. So that
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: that that's where it came from. And the niggas was
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: always talking about wetting people up a gun talk.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: Yeah that is true. That was kind of like some
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: ninety slang like I get you wet.
