Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: We are back on the Almost Famous podcast. Some news
- 0:09Speaker 2: broke yesterday that Taylor Frankie Paul will not face additional
- 0:13Speaker 2: charges in the domestic violence investigation. So we have Ashley
- 0:18Speaker 2: here with us to help walk through all of the
- 0:20Speaker 2: questions that so many of us have.
- 0:22Speaker 3: We'll start with this one.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Ashley, what does this mean for the season of The Bachelorette.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Well, I don't know.
- 0:30Speaker 5: You know that my opinion on their statement was, like,
- 0:34Speaker 5: I didn't think they had the greatest statement. I don't
- 0:36Speaker 5: think their pr statement was the greatest because I think
- 0:38Speaker 5: it should have been way vaguer and I think it
- 0:40Speaker 5: should have been pointed at the fact that there was
- 0:45Speaker 5: something that was ongoing that happened in February. Not not
- 0:49Speaker 5: the video because the video was jarring and awful, awful, awful, awful, but.
- 0:54Speaker 6: They knew every detail of the video while signing her
- 0:57Speaker 6: up for the show, So it was the ongoing February investigation.
- 1:03Speaker 6: To me, that's what they should have used as the
- 1:07Speaker 6: excuse as to why this show was I would have said,
- 1:12Speaker 6: on hold, it said that the incidents that happened in
- 1:16Speaker 6: February do not rise to the level of criminal offenses
- 1:20Speaker 6: and or lack sufficient evidence to support filing criminal charges.
- 1:27Speaker 6: So if they had blamed the February incidents, they could
- 1:36Speaker 6: probably with looking oay, gone forward the season. What do
- 1:44Speaker 6: you think about that now that she's not gonna be
- 1:47Speaker 6: charged with anything that happened in February, saying that there
- 1:49Speaker 6: wasn't enough to convict her.
- 1:53Speaker 4: What's your take on the cancelization.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Let's be clear, they're not doing anything now.
- 2:00Speaker 3: They did leave it open.
- 2:01Speaker 2: If there is any other evidence that is found or
- 2:06Speaker 2: brought the dead the courts, then they're willing to re
- 2:11Speaker 2: investigate and look back into this recent incident that happened
- 2:15Speaker 2: in February. My personal thought is that the show is
- 2:19Speaker 2: looking for any excuse possible to air this season.
- 2:21Speaker 3: They have to be.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I mean, I think it's been very clear with how
- 2:25Speaker 2: they've navigated this whole thing that they are looking for
- 2:30Speaker 2: any ability to say, Okay, everything's good, let's move forward,
- 2:34Speaker 2: or hey, everything's on pause, let's move forward. There's I
- 2:38Speaker 2: guess I don't know this for certain, but I would
- 2:42Speaker 2: imagine that they're looking and waiting and just wanting that
- 2:47Speaker 2: first open door even if it's just opened a little
- 2:50Speaker 2: bit for them to start airing this season.
- 2:52Speaker 3: They want to get this thing out there, you do.
- 2:55Speaker 7: I just feel like they would have let their statement
- 2:59Speaker 7: be al little bit more we'll see instead of like, eh,
- 3:04Speaker 7: it's not gonna really happen.
- 3:07Speaker 2: They're looking at hundreds of millions of dollars in losses
- 3:10Speaker 2: if they don't air this season. Now they're never gonna
- 3:12Speaker 2: make the money they thought they would on this season
- 3:15Speaker 2: based on the pause. And obviously now you have to
- 3:19Speaker 2: go back out and find the ad dollars.
- 3:21Speaker 3: But actually, if.
- 3:22Speaker 2: They just wanted this season to go away, they would
- 3:25Speaker 2: have never spent the time interviewing in these like very weird,
- 3:30Speaker 2: like superficial questions on interviewing every major man that came
- 3:36Speaker 2: on this season.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what's going on over on their official podcast.
- 3:40Speaker 5: They're interviewing the guys from Taylor season.
- 3:43Speaker 2: They would have just let this kind of disappear. They
- 3:45Speaker 2: would have let these guys go back out into their lives.
- 3:47Speaker 2: But they kept this going by bringing these guys on,
- 3:51Speaker 2: by doing the interviews, by not really speaking too much
- 3:55Speaker 2: against or out about this season, because I think they
- 3:58Speaker 2: were waiting for the door to be open for them
- 4:00Speaker 2: to say, hey, let's go and run with it. I
- 4:02Speaker 2: wouldn't be shocked if this announcement once, if they have
- 4:06Speaker 2: the space that they'll be doing it very soon, because
- 4:10Speaker 2: at this point, you know, they knew, all of us
- 4:13Speaker 2: knew about twenty twenty three, February was new, and the
- 4:16Speaker 2: video you know, then came out and so for me
- 4:21Speaker 2: this and tell me if I'm wrong. But the way
- 4:25Speaker 2: I've always viewed it is the pause of this season
- 4:28Speaker 2: was in response to the video being released along with
- 4:32Speaker 2: the February incident.
- 4:33Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what it said in the statement. It did
- 4:36Speaker 5: never say anything about February. It says something about the video,
- 4:39Speaker 5: which is why I was always like, they should have
- 4:42Speaker 5: made that so much more vague.
- 4:43Speaker 4: It shouldn't the video again awful, so bad.
- 4:47Speaker 5: They had already agreed to have her as the Batsat,
- 4:49Speaker 5: knowing what happened in the video. It should have been
- 4:52Speaker 5: about the statement to have given them more of an
- 4:55Speaker 5: open ended decision to make. Should have been blaming February.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I'm assuming they'll kind of wait now until April thirtieth,
- 5:04Speaker 2: where the hearing happens for custody of ever the child.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Up until April thirtieth. My assumption would be that they
- 5:13Speaker 2: would be that Dakota Taylor will be gathering all the
- 5:19Speaker 2: evidence they have leading up to that court case.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Some of the evidence that was apparently brought to them
- 5:26Speaker 5: was out of the limit staty of limitations. I think
- 5:31Speaker 5: he was giving them videos from twenty twenty four. To
- 5:35Speaker 5: Charlie Pylon, Yeah, it says that some of the videos
- 5:38Speaker 5: that were given. It says the police are believe that
- 5:42Speaker 5: some of the videos that he Dakota had given were
- 5:45Speaker 5: dated early to mid twenty twenty four.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know what the statute is on
- 5:50Speaker 2: something like that. I don't know California or Utah law
- 5:55Speaker 2: at all, would never claim to. But my assumption be
- 6:00Speaker 2: that they'll get both sides will be gathering all the
- 6:05Speaker 2: evidence they have, all the text messages, all the videos,
- 6:09Speaker 2: trying to get that out there to win this case
- 6:13Speaker 2: or to get what they want out of this case.
- 6:16Speaker 2: And then in April thirtieth, when we know so much
- 6:19Speaker 2: more than we know today, then the show will probably
- 6:23Speaker 2: be responding in some way, shape or form. Right now,
- 6:29Speaker 2: the big win and Taylor's talked about it on her
- 6:31Speaker 2: social media actually that this was a huge win.
- 6:34Speaker 3: For her.
- 6:35Speaker 2: In fact, she was thinking people have stood by her
- 6:38Speaker 2: side and had sent her flowers, and so yesterday had
- 6:43Speaker 2: to feel like I mean, from my understanding, she in
- 6:48Speaker 2: a sense won the hearing yesterday, and now moving towards
- 6:53Speaker 2: this April thirtieth date, Actually it's worth mentioning we have
- 6:57Speaker 2: a legal expert coming on next week to kind of
- 7:01Speaker 2: walk through all the details of how this actually is
- 7:04Speaker 2: going to play out leading up to that April thirtieth hearing,
- 7:08Speaker 2: and then kind of what's happened so far to help
- 7:10Speaker 2: make sense of it all. But you know, from our perspective,
- 7:13Speaker 2: right now, the headlines are renounced that the charges will
- 7:17Speaker 2: not be pursued in relation to Taylor Frankie Paul And
- 7:21Speaker 2: that's the first step here.
- 7:23Speaker 5: And my assumption again we will ask the legal expert,
- 7:28Speaker 5: would be that if there's going to be no charges,
- 7:31Speaker 5: that she'll probably get shared custody back.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Ever, well, I'm not an expert. We'll see.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know if those two things are actually
- 7:40Speaker 2: related at all.
- 7:41Speaker 4: No, there are.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Two separate hearings.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I mean, Ashley again, I don't know, but I would
- 7:46Speaker 2: assume that the court is not even considering what the
- 7:50Speaker 2: judge has recently decided yesterday that the hearing when it
- 7:54Speaker 2: comes to ever will be completely separate and it will
- 7:57Speaker 2: be in relation to I guess now both of them.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Are they fit to be parents will be the question there.
- 8:06Speaker 3: But this was a win. Taylor.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Frankie Paul also yesterday the investigation will not although affect
- 8:13Speaker 2: her probation status.
- 8:14Speaker 3: She's been on probation since twenty twenty three.
- 8:17Speaker 2: This even though that the charges for her recently are
- 8:22Speaker 2: being dismissed, that will not affect her current probation status.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Here's the thing, Ashley, I didn't know she was on probation.
- 8:30Speaker 5: You didn't, okay, So we talked about this on an
- 8:33Speaker 5: episode that.
- 8:34Speaker 4: You weren't on. When we were doing all the breaking
- 8:35Speaker 4: news around her.
- 8:37Speaker 5: We were like, wait a second, what they signed a
- 8:41Speaker 5: girl up to be the bachelorette who was on probation
- 8:44Speaker 5: and couldn't leave the country. I don't know what the
- 8:47Speaker 5: roundabout is, but they were able to film.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Her finale in Saint Lucia.
- 8:51Speaker 5: But I don't think other than that, there were many
- 8:53Speaker 5: other places that could go with her under probation.
- 9:07Speaker 2: We can't dismiss Ashley like we can't dismiss that this
- 9:12Speaker 2: decision that the show made.
- 9:13Speaker 3: They know why they are making it. Now. If it's
- 9:16Speaker 3: a good or bad decision, that's up for everybody to
- 9:19Speaker 3: have opinions on their own.
- 9:20Speaker 2: But we cannot dismiss the fact that they knew all
- 9:23Speaker 2: of this was not secret. This was not a secret
- 9:26Speaker 2: to them. She was on probation, she had a twenty
- 9:28Speaker 2: twenty three incident. They knew what they were doing when
- 9:32Speaker 2: they said, hey, let's make this work. I think it's
- 9:35Speaker 2: why we spent so much time doing Frankie Fridays to
- 9:38Speaker 2: try to understand for ourselves why this was the decision
- 9:43Speaker 2: they were making, why they were going to try to
- 9:45Speaker 2: make this work. The other big question that's kind of
- 9:48Speaker 2: been looming and in relation to the show is what
- 9:52Speaker 2: does happen with secret lives of Mormon wives? I mean
- 9:55Speaker 2: outside of The Bachelor atte I would assume that Taylor
- 9:58Speaker 2: would be going back to secret Lives and more and
- 10:00Speaker 2: wise even before The Bachelor would air, because that is
- 10:02Speaker 2: her show.
- 10:03Speaker 5: In a lot of way, that show isn't such a
- 10:07Speaker 5: like glimbo right now. Whitney, one of their biggest stars
- 10:11Speaker 5: I don't think is going to be on a season
- 10:14Speaker 5: five unless she's completely out of Utah because she lives
- 10:19Speaker 5: in New York. Now, I don't think she was likely
- 10:22Speaker 5: to do with Utah, So I would just imagine that
- 10:25Speaker 5: they go on some sort of hiatus.
- 10:27Speaker 4: She just sold her Utah house.
- 10:29Speaker 5: And with this going on, and then with them doing
- 10:32Speaker 5: a spin off show of Jen in southern California, I
- 10:37Speaker 5: just feel like it's, yeah, it's gonna be on pause.
- 10:40Speaker 5: I also want to mention that if this, if she
- 10:43Speaker 5: was charged for this stuff this month, this could have
- 10:46Speaker 5: impacted her plea deal from twenty twenty three and then,
- 10:49Speaker 5: like I'm assuming that she the plea deal and the probation,
- 10:53Speaker 5: it would have been the last longer or I guess
- 10:55Speaker 5: she could have gotten jail time.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Yeah again, Yeah, I mean, I think there's a quest
- 11:00Speaker 2: questions that we need to jop down for next week.
- 11:02Speaker 2: I don't know, I mean, I'm I've always imagined that
- 11:05Speaker 2: when you're on probation and you get into some type
- 11:08Speaker 2: of legal trouble again and you break your probation of
- 11:12Speaker 2: some kind, then yes, there is you know, it's like
- 11:14Speaker 2: the one two three strike rule that California, Like, there's
- 11:18Speaker 2: different levels of hey, you've done this, once you've done
- 11:21Speaker 2: this twice a third time you're going to be you know,
- 11:25Speaker 2: punished or charged a little harder.
- 11:27Speaker 3: That'd be my assumption.
- 11:28Speaker 2: I have no idea, but I mean I do think
- 11:32Speaker 2: her getting out of this without those charges do help.
- 11:36Speaker 2: And now she does face the battle, and she's obviously
- 11:40Speaker 2: also filed against Dakota, and now they're going to kind
- 11:44Speaker 2: of battle this thing out. It doesn't mean this thing's
- 11:47Speaker 2: over by any means. I mean, the court did leave
- 11:50Speaker 2: it open if any new evidence. I actually think the
- 11:53Speaker 2: most dramatic side of this it hasn't even begun. It
- 11:56Speaker 2: really starts April thirtieth, when they sit down in court
- 12:00Speaker 2: and start arguing with each other over the custody of
- 12:04Speaker 2: their the child. That's where the things seem to be
- 12:08Speaker 2: the most sticky. But again, obviously with Taylor's social media posts,
- 12:13Speaker 2: she does seem very excited with the outcome yesterday, and
- 12:15Speaker 2: she probably should be.
- 12:17Speaker 3: I mean, that's a big deal. She could be facing.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Two kind of court hearings and now she's just you know,
- 12:23Speaker 2: going up against one for the time being. Actually, we
- 12:27Speaker 2: also broke down yesterday that Taylor Frankie Paul was expected
- 12:31Speaker 2: to be going on Dancing.
- 12:34Speaker 3: With the Stars.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Uh, that was rumored by an article online that she
- 12:41Speaker 2: was getting pulled from that des Moy.
- 12:44Speaker 4: Des Mois Des.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Mois had shared that she was getting pulled from that
- 12:49Speaker 2: show and they're looking to recast her position. We have
- 12:52Speaker 2: news or I guess more news kind of based on
- 12:57Speaker 2: our like thoughts yesterday and kind of what we assumed
- 13:00Speaker 2: would happen on where this is going to lead. So
- 13:03Speaker 2: Ashley catch us up on the Dancing with the Stars
- 13:05Speaker 2: rumors for season thirty five with Taylor Frankie Paul being
- 13:10Speaker 2: dismissed from the show.
- 13:12Speaker 5: Can you I can't believe how many shows this girl
- 13:14Speaker 5: would have ended up doing like this would not have
- 13:16Speaker 5: been good for her.
- 13:17Speaker 4: She wouldn't been able to handle this. That's like nobody
- 13:20Speaker 4: barely anyone.
- 13:21Speaker 5: Who'd be able to handle this anyway, So she said
- 13:24Speaker 5: they are now thinking about adding Tasia in her spot.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Like obviously Tasha is a lead.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Who I would imagine could dance very well, that could
- 13:37Speaker 5: just kind of fit into that sure bachelor slot really well.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Still been seen on a lot of shows. It's not
- 13:44Speaker 2: like Bachelor fans are out of touch.
- 13:47Speaker 4: With forgetting about her.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Yeah, definitely, just it makes a lot of sense, don't
- 13:52Speaker 5: expect an official announcement for a few months, is what
- 13:55Speaker 5: we've been hearing, which, yeah, I guess Dancing with the
- 14:00Speaker 5: Stars would probably been set to premiere like early June,
- 14:05Speaker 5: late May, so we'll hear about this later. And also,
- 14:10Speaker 5: there was rumors about Maura Higgins being on that Age
- 14:16Speaker 5: with the Stars. No no, no relation, and she was
- 14:22Speaker 5: also rumored to be taking Taylor's place as bachelorette. We
- 14:27Speaker 5: don't know whether there was actually talks between Maura and
- 14:30Speaker 5: ABC about the bachelorette role, but we know that people
- 14:35Speaker 5: really really wanted it so much so that it became
- 14:37Speaker 5: a rumor.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Do you think she'd have been a good bachelorette?
- 14:40Speaker 5: I don't know her well enough, but I know that
- 14:42Speaker 5: she's like just so beautiful and from what I've seen,
- 14:45Speaker 5: likable people.
- 14:48Speaker 4: People really they find her to be very easy.
- 14:50Speaker 3: To root for.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I think her time on Traders kind of blew
- 14:54Speaker 2: her up. Tay should be the pretty obvious choice to me.
- 14:57Speaker 2: There's not really, outside of Ashley, anybody else I can
- 15:01Speaker 2: think of that could come from the Bachelor world and
- 15:03Speaker 2: step into Dance with the Stars. I'm assuming that would
- 15:05Speaker 2: be a little bit of a conflict of interest right
- 15:08Speaker 2: now for you actually, but.
- 15:10Speaker 4: I don't think I would be allowed to.
- 15:12Speaker 5: I also think I would last legitimately one week. I
- 15:16Speaker 5: know that Tasha is going to have a winning power.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Winning power is there, don't you think so?
- 15:22Speaker 4: Look at her, She's just that's her. That's her.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I think she do.
- 15:27Speaker 5: See.
- 15:27Speaker 3: In fact, I was kind of surprised she hasn't been
- 15:30Speaker 3: on it before.
- 15:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I know.
- 15:31Speaker 5: I think it was because her season was that COVID
- 15:34Speaker 5: era and there must have been some wackiness as far
- 15:37Speaker 5: as the scheduling.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Well, wasn't she didn't she replace Claire?
- 15:41Speaker 4: Yeah, during a COVID season.
- 15:43Speaker 2: During a COVID season, that's the big news. That's breaking
- 15:46Speaker 2: news we have for everybody out there in relation to Taylor,
- 15:49Speaker 2: Frankie Paul, what's happening with her, Dakota, what's happening with
- 15:52Speaker 2: her in the courts. We're gonna stay tuned for any
- 15:55Speaker 2: news that comes out.
- 15:57Speaker 5: Uh.
- 15:57Speaker 2: My guess is, don't be surprised if you hear from
- 16:02Speaker 2: the world of Bachelorette soon. I don't think it's going
- 16:06Speaker 2: to be before April thirtieth, but soon after that. I
- 16:09Speaker 2: bet they are prepping everything and getting ready to go
- 16:13Speaker 2: to maybe air Taylor Frankie Paul's season. And I think
- 16:15Speaker 2: that's the question that I want to leave out for
- 16:19Speaker 2: our listeners. Ashally is if you know, this is dismissed.
- 16:24Speaker 2: And then also she continues with custody of ever, what
- 16:29Speaker 2: do the fans think of that season airing? How do
- 16:32Speaker 2: they feel about it? Is there anything that they feel
- 16:35Speaker 2: icky about? Or is there anything they're like, ya, this
- 16:37Speaker 2: is exactly how it should happen. I just want to
- 16:39Speaker 2: hear the opinions. I want to get an idea, So
- 16:42Speaker 2: write us in comment share.
- 16:44Speaker 4: I have a thought that I would like to ask you.
- 16:47Speaker 5: So, what do you think do you think that because
- 16:51Speaker 5: there was no sufficient evidence, do you think that Dakota
- 16:56Speaker 5: was really trying to get her off Bachelorette?
- 17:00Speaker 7: Well?
- 17:00Speaker 3: I think he was one hundred percent trying to get
- 17:01Speaker 3: her off Bachelorette?
- 17:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I know, so so do you think that and
- 17:05Speaker 5: yeah it worked? Do you think that this is like
- 17:08Speaker 5: all planned by him?
- 17:09Speaker 3: Oh?
- 17:10Speaker 2: Like there's a strategy behind the scenes of when to
- 17:13Speaker 2: release the video and how.
- 17:14Speaker 5: To get exactly because he went forward with the two
- 17:18Speaker 5: thousand and four too, some twenty twenty four videos, they're
- 17:23Speaker 5: saying he submitted to the police, and it was almost
- 17:27Speaker 5: like his last ditch effort to like just pile on
- 17:30Speaker 5: a whole bunch of crap about her.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Yes, I guess my assumption, or I guess I've always
- 17:35Speaker 2: thought that. Yet this was very strategic and timing and
- 17:39Speaker 2: placement and how it went down. Yeah, I don't know
- 17:43Speaker 2: enough to know for sure, but that's always been my assumption.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Is he held this until you do this.
- 17:50Speaker 4: At any time. Yeah, he's going to do this at
- 17:52Speaker 4: any time.
- 17:53Speaker 2: It's I mean in a lot of ways, though we
- 17:55Speaker 2: got a comment that it's it's not really worked out
- 17:58Speaker 2: for him. You know, he's kind of gotten cut from
- 18:02Speaker 2: Secret Lives, the vander pum Villa stuff got cut. I mean,
- 18:06Speaker 2: he's went on unwell Winter Games. But I don't know
- 18:11Speaker 2: if this is like I don't know if his strategy
- 18:14Speaker 2: was to cut out Taylor so that he became a star,
- 18:16Speaker 2: or if he was going to take everybody down with him.
- 18:20Speaker 2: But it feels like right now he's taking everybody down
- 18:22Speaker 2: with him. I just think the thing that Taylor has
- 18:24Speaker 2: in her back pocket is, hey, she still has a
