UAB softball coach Taylor Smartt is out after an investigation confirmed she violated university policies and NCAA rules, following allegations of physical and mental abuse first reported by Sports Illustrated in May. The school is committed to athlete safety and has named Anna Shelnutt interim head coach while searching for a permanent replacement.
