- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30We are talking about the rules that are Unwritten, that rule,
- 0:35us sounds kind of crazy, right? We have rules that are Unwritten
- 0:39meaning, we are unaware of them, but they rule us regularly.
- 0:43They do, they really drive us and they are the force behind
- 0:46our decisions. But yes, that is true.
- 0:49And, you know, we have talked before about Concepts about this
- 0:54in many different ways, but these are, these are kind of
- 0:56tricky because these are things that we live by We don't
- 1:01actually know our rules until they show up.
- 1:04So an example of something silly might be how you load the
- 1:08dishwasher. So you have an unconscious rule
- 1:12that says every time you open the bottom pull out of the
- 1:15dishwasher the plates have to go in a certain spot in a certain
- 1:19direction and the silverware has to go in a certain spot in a
- 1:24certain direction and you have all of these different aspects
- 1:28of rules that at our protocol for the dishwasher.
- 1:33Well, what happens when somebody else comes in your house and
- 1:36they're helping you clean up and they don't do it the way you do
- 1:39it or even people in your house don't do it the way you do it
- 1:43and you get irritated and you find that you are getting
- 1:46irritated and you use language like they're not loading the
- 1:50dishwasher, the right way. That is a key for an Unwritten
- 1:53rule because as far as I know the reddish washer did not come
- 1:57with a manual that said how to load it properly.
- 2:00Directions of certain things might have set explained how to
- 2:03use the Jets, but it did not explain other aspects of it.
- 2:07So there would be a Unwritten rule.
- 2:11That's being driven. And for me, let me explain to
- 2:14you why I use that one, because I definitely have an Unwritten
- 2:17rule about how to load the dishwasher just like how to do
- 2:20laundry. Just like how to make a bed.
- 2:23I have lots of rules around things when it comes to order.
- 2:27Now, those things I was I would I was honestly never aware of
- 2:33them until I had other people in my life and then it became an
- 2:37issue because you're not doing it the right way.
- 2:39And then the questions would always be relied as if the right
- 2:42way. It's just your way, that doesn't
- 2:44mean it's the right way and those are valid points and my
- 2:49reaction to those used to be much more on resourceful than
- 2:52they are now. But the point is these this game
- 2:57of rules is not just about the dishwasher.
- 2:59Now used it as a Example to make everybody laugh.
- 3:02However, there are parts of this that come up all the time in our
- 3:08world and what's so imperative. And so important that, we pay
- 3:11attention to is these show up in our work life, they show up in
- 3:16our relationships. They show up in everything that
- 3:19we do and if we're not conscious of what we are thinking about
- 3:23and what are Unwritten rules are we will forever be taken
- 3:27advantage of in our own consciousness.
- 3:30By the stuff that we haven't worked through.
- 3:32So, when you start to have conflict with other people, you
- 3:37have to ask yourself. Am I running into a rule that I
- 3:40didn't know anything about? Is there something here that I
- 3:43need to check in with myself about?
- 3:45And that's what this is really about today.
- 3:47When conflict arises, when things show up, when you have
- 3:52these elements of your life that are present, you have to always
- 3:58come back to. What is my role in?
- 4:00Us and how is my reaction? And how is my belief, and how is
- 4:06my tonality? How is my structure, dictating
- 4:10an outcome here? That I'm clearly not happy with,
- 4:12and I'm not enjoying because, obviously, if I'm in Conflict,
- 4:16well, this is something I have to look at now on the flip side
- 4:20of this, this works in the positive to like, you have all
- 4:24these things that go on behind the scenes.
- 4:26And it could be that, you know, you don't know, all these little
- 4:29things that make you happy. And then someone does them and
- 4:31you're like, oh, this makes me so happy but it's not something
- 4:34you ever realized about yourself.
- 4:37And it there's just a little tiny piece of it that says, oh
- 4:40yeah. That's wonderful.
- 4:42And then now you have awareness of it.
- 4:44It's now gone from something that you were unaware of to
- 4:47something that you are aware of. And, you know, when you know
- 4:50better, you can do better as Maya.
- 4:52Angelou says, when you know better, you can do better, but
- 4:56if you don't know, you're just going to be subjected to.
- 5:00The existence that's unconscious and probably not cultivated in a
- 5:06way that you would particularly like so today I'm going to ask
- 5:10you to look for the rules. What are your Unwritten rules?
- 5:14What are the things that you do not know about that?
- 5:16You want to bring into your Consciousness so that you can
- 5:19cultivate them that you can fix them that you can grow them, or
- 5:23Shrink them and make them something that is a useful tool
- 5:27as opposed to something that is a nuisance tool.
- 5:30I hope you guys have a very blessed day and I will see you
- 5:34all tomorrow. Bye.
