- 0:00hello everybody, and welcome back to another episode of Adult Child of Dysfunction.
- 0:04Today we have with us a special guest.
- 0:06We have Chris Wasco.
- 0:07She is an energy healer, spiritual counselor, and psychic medium who empowers old souls and survivors of narcissistic abuse.
- 0:15She is the creator of Spicy Old Souls, a program designed for healing both human and soul levels of trauma.
- 0:21Chris is also the author of An Old Soul's Journey: A Guide to Inner Child Healing and Conscious Evolution.
- 0:28Welcome, Chris.
- 0:29Thank you so much, Tammy.
- 0:31Yeah, I love that introduction, too, because I love the old soul thing, and it's funny how some people, like my son is 22 now, but he was kinda one of those kids that was like 6 going on 50.
- 0:42Yeah.
- 0:43And that was a, a saying that we used to always say.
- 0:45I'm like, "Oh, you have to excuse him.
- 0:46He's an old soul."
- 0:47It was like he had this deep, dark wisdom that nobody else seemed to have around him, so I love that, that you use that Old Soul's Journey.
- 0:55Yeah.
- 0:56That's the best description, too it, yeah, and some people just do.
- 1:00Some people have that, I don't know.
- 1:02Yeah.
- 1:02It's a different aura about them.
- 1:03Exactly.
- 1:03So talk about how you got into that work.
- 1:07For myself, I always identified as an old soul.
- 1:09I was even told a lot as a kid.
- 1:12Usually when, like in your son's example, you just know, and so many people start telling you.
- 1:17So it's just something that I guess I just really identified with a lot.
- 1:21My journey just evolved in probably the most chaotic way because I had a very different background than what I'm doing right now.
- 1:29I was in business.
- 1:30I was working in New York.
- 1:32I had a very what one might call a muggle life.
- 1:36I one day made the most difficult decision of my life to cut off my narcissistic parents.
- 1:42They are both abusive in their own way physical as well as emotional, and that abuse was starting to affect my children.
- 1:51My father hit my first child- Ooh and that should have been my walk away I'm done, I'm not doing this.
- 1:59But it actually took time after that because anyone who's in an abusive relationship knows how difficult it is to walk away, and especially as your parents, you don't wanna break ties with the people who've essentially brought you into
- 2:12this world.
- 2:13I certainly didn't.
- 2:14And that was actually the first time my dad ever apologized to me, and if anyone knows narcissists, they do not apologize.
- 2:21Oh, they do not.
- 2:21So to have gotten that, I was like, "Okay, maybe he might do better and be better.
- 2:26I'm actually getting an apology."
- 2:29So it was another eight years until I officially walked away.
- 2:32Just the cycle continued.
- 2:34We never left him alone with any of my children ever again.
- 2:37At that point, he threatened my husband, and that was, I was, "I'm done.
- 2:42I'm not doing this anymore."
- 2:43In any kind of abusive situations, we always think in theory we're gonna leave and we're gonna feel this feeling of peace or freedom or whatever we think.
- 2:55But no, your body is hardwired to whatever that chaos was.
- 2:59So I was terrified.
- 3:00I didn't know what my parents might do.
- 3:02My mother is extremely vindictive, so I was definitely in this state of, fight, fright, fear, and flight.
- 3:11So a lot of different Fs on the, the trauma scale.
- 3:15But I knew I needed to heal.
- 3:17So my healing journey, which is why it's so surreal, it opened up all my spiritual abilities.
- 3:23I didn't know I could see people in spirit.
- 3:25I didn't know I could read the chakra system.
- 3:28I wouldn't even call myself psychic.
- 3:29I would have maybe said I was, like, an intuitive empath.
- 3:32But what I learned is all of my trauma muted these abilities.
- 3:37So my life changed for the better, all because I made the most challenging decision of my life.
- 3:43And for the people out there listening, it's a decision that so many people have to make.
- 3:47And I'm going back to where you said, "My father apologized," and narcissists don't apologize, and it's like, okay, so but narcissists manipulate.
- 3:56So was it really a real apology?
- 3:58That's would've been my first thought.
- 3:59My mother was the same way, and I'm like, if she had ever apologized to me, I'd be like, "Oh, yeah, that's backhanded.
- 4:04There's something coming."
- 4:05Something is behind that.
- 4:07It's a manipulation tactic.
- 4:08That's how I would've seen it.
- 4:09But no fault of any of ours, because if you grew up like that, again, you want to trust the parents.
- 4:16You want to believe that your parents, like you said, the people that brought you into the world are the people that go, are going to protect you and have your back.
- 4:24Exactly.
- 4:24So but I love that.
- 4:26I love that you got into that.
- 4:27And so often you made such a good point, too, and I talk about that a lot, is when you grow up in that kind of trauma, and just any really trauma, and you forget that you actually have intuition.
- 4:40I feel like we are all-knowing.
- 4:42We are born all-knowing.
- 4:44Yes.
- 4:44And then as we explore that as children, if it's stifled or violated in any way, you stop trusting yourself.
- 4:54Exactly.
- 4:55And so those little things are constantly spinning in your head, but you're like, "Oh no.
- 4:59That can't be right.
- 5:00I can't be right.
- 5:01I must be wrong."
- 5:02So many people I've talked to where it's really opened up this spiritual journey, and I love to see that.
- 5:07So when you talk about trauma energy, what is that?
- 5:11Tell the audience.
- 5:14Trauma energy reveals itself in so many different ways.
- 5:17If I see it, it'll be blurred, it'll be distorted.
- 5:22It might show some fragments or fractures.
- 5:26It will really depend on what the person's energy body is revealing.
- 5:30If I feel it, it'll reveal itself in weight.
- 5:34So the heavier it feels, the more trauma that has gone on in that person's body, because it's literally being carried by them, and it's heavy.
- 5:47So trauma energy piles up, That, those are the more frequent ways I experience it when I do reads on people.
- 5:54Sometimes I might hear things.
- 5:56I might hear verbal abuse, for example.
- 5:59I almost feel like I- I'm just getting yelled at over and over.
- 6:02But I guess in my own experience, because I had all of this, I understand what it looks like, it feels like, it sounds like.
- 6:10So when I'm doing these reads, it's easier for me to interpret.
- 6:14So in my experience, I could thank my parents for the upbringing I have, 'cause it helped me do what I do now.
- 6:21And I'm also separate from it, where I'm not taking it on.
- 6:25It's not personal.
- 6:26It's not even something I'm taking on energetically.
- 6:29I'm just witnessing in a client, and I'm sharing with them.
- 6:34Because more often than not, people don't know what they're carrying or how they're carrying it, so my just bringing it to their attention, sometimes the awareness alone is enough to help them heal it, because they might be holding
- 6:47onto something that they don't need to hold onto anymore, that it has served as a protective mechanism, so it probably did serve them at one time.
- 6:55But awareness is always that first level, so I work to bring that awareness.
- 6:59What am I seeing?
- 7:00What am I hearing?
- 7:01What am I feeling?
- 7:02And sharing it with them, and showing them where it is in the body, and where I feel it's connected to.
- 7:08So I won't always get an exact story, but I'll feel a mother energy or a father energy or sometimes an experience, like I feel like I'm in school, I feel like I'm at work.
- 7:18It's just something going on in that e- experience, so it just, again, depends on what story the body wants to share, because the body always reveals itself in layers.
- 7:28The first layer is always that way of waving "Hi, I need attention.
- 7:32I'm here.
- 7:33I'm ready to be seen."
- 7:34And then as you uncover those layers, other ones start to come to the surface.
- 7:40So I'm always very respectful because they're...
- 7:42the body has energetic boundaries as well, so there are times people get a little scared, "What is she gonna see?"
- 7:49And I might see a barrier and I'll say, "Hey I'm noticing something here that's very guarded.
- 7:56I'm not gonna go beyond it."
- 7:58Because I've...
- 7:59I also deal with people that deal with a lot of trauma, as far as sexual abuse and really traumatic experiences that they don't want to relive.
- 8:06So I'm always very respectful of that.
- 8:08So the body will only reveal what it feels safe for you to reveal.
- 8:16I was gonna ask that because I have, I've dealt with a couple people that do Akashic records and things like that- where they're literally reading past lives, and they're opening this book.
- 8:24And, I had the woman on my podcast, and she literally said "Okay, I knew, I saw that in this past lifetime, this person may have been beheaded," or whatever it was.
- 8:36And I'm not going to bring that out.
- 8:38I'm not gonna traumatize someone.
- 8:39So there is a fine line.
- 8:41And I mention that because people that are curious about going to someone like you, that is an energy healer and a spiritual counselor there is that kind of trepidation, as far as can I trust whatever's going on?
- 8:55It's the same thing I always thought it was fascinating.
- 8:57I wanna go to a psychic.
- 8:58I want them to tell me, like, why?
- 9:00Why am I like this?
- 9:02Or what is going to happen in the future?
- 9:04That always fascinated me, it never scared me.
- 9:08But at the same time, I can see where sitting down with you, and you going, "Okay, there's something deep and dark here."
- 9:15Yeah, it's vulnerable.
- 9:15Nobody wants to hear that.
- 9:16Vulnerable.
- 9:17That puts you in a very vulnerable p- place.
- 9:19So for the people listening, rest assured, this is not to trigger anybody or anything like that.
- 9:24But that if you go to someone, and it is a professional, they're going to be gentle and compassionate and understand that this is not to read your mind and throw every, all this stuff out there.
- 9:38But you deal with mostly, when you say old souls, spicy old souls what is that program?
- 9:46Spicy Old Souls is a program I developed to help people with their trauma energy, because we carry a lot...
- 9:53Old souls carry a lot of trauma in their current lifetime, because I always say old souls take on the most challenging lessons.
- 9:59When you have an old soul, if you are an old soul, you sign up for I call it the advanced courses.
- 10:06You've done the easy, so you're here to really take on the very traumatic, emotional upheaval kind of lessons.
- 10:16So as wonderful as that sounds on a soul level, on a human level, we just look at that absolutely sucks, and we can carry that trauma energy, we can carry that weight, that heaviness that I talked about.
- 10:28So this program helps you release a lot of that, and really allow you to understand your own energy.
- 10:35Because the more you understand your own energy, the more you can work with it to heal it, and to help yourself evolve however you want to in this lifetime, and even beyond.
- 10:43But also, any kind of healing you do now sends ripples into all of your lives, because we're existing all at the same time.
- 10:53So those ripples do something.
- 10:55So developing this program, I was absolutely called to do it...
- 11:00I didn't wake up one day like, "I have to do this."
- 11:02I was just one day doing a chore, and it just came to me, "You're gonna create a program."
- 11:08And I said, "Okay."
- 11:12So it evolved over time.
- 11:14I'm really happy with how it's come together and how it helps people, because the reason it's called Spicy Old Souls is 'cause the acronym for it is SOS, because old souls often need help, but so many of us
- 11:28are so bad about asking for it.
- 11:29We've become so programmed to just do it ourselves, to figure it out.
- 11:34So this program is an independent program.
- 11:37You don't have to go to someone.
- 11:39It's, "Hey, here are some tools.
- 11:40Here's how to work with this," and allow yourself to relieve yourself of some of that trauma energy so that you don't have to carry that burden anymore, 'cause you're not meant to.
- 11:49No.
- 11:50Now, how would you know if, let's say, my son is an old soul.
- 11:53Like I said, he was 5 going on 50.
- 11:55He just had this wisdom about him.
- 11:57How would people know to question "Hey, maybe I am an old soul.
- 12:00Maybe I am reliving those things"?
- 12:02'Cause I remember one time someone on my podcast said, "You're put on this earth to do something.
- 12:07You have a mission, or something to learn- Yes or something to teach, or whatever it is.
- 12:12And until you do it and get it right, you're gonna keep coming back over and over again, so you might as well get it right the first time."
- 12:18I remember when they told me that so changed the way I kinda looked at things.
- 12:22Is that what you're kinda talking about?
- 12:25I would agree with that because it is about intention, right?
- 12:29The more intentional we are towards this life and what we're living in our experience, because we're meant to be creators, we're meant to experience life, the more we do that, the more we connect with our path, our purpose
- 12:42our journey.
- 12:43I do believe, yes, we all have a reason to be here.
- 12:47Sometimes I feel we get so mixed up in what that is.
- 12:51We live in a very capitalistic society, so often we tie it to money and financial gain.
- 12:57But that is not how the soul often evolves.
- 13:01Doesn't mean it can't, but what if you're just meant to learn with exactly the circumstances you're in to create circumstances around it to allow yourself to evolve?
- 13:14It's hinting along what it is to start manifesting- because we are creators of our own reality.
- 13:19So the more we connect to that, the more we understand ourselves, which is again, why I like this program so much.
- 13:26The more you have control of your body energy, you understand it, the more powerful a manifester you are.
- 13:31You literally change your life because you change your energy.
- 13:34And that's power.
- 13:36It- but in a beautiful way, not in a control, narcissistic way that our society is based on.
- 13:41So that's why I feel it's just so beautiful to connect to that because it's very soul-centered.
- 13:49And how would you suggest to people if they're like, "Okay, I don't even know what my energy is.
- 13:53What does that even mean, Chris?"
- 13:55How would you suggest or help people kinda understand what kind of energy they're putting off?
- 14:01I do have a quiz.
- 14:03I have a quiz on my website.
- 14:04It is a free quiz that people could take, see what comes back at them.
- 14:08Do they feel aligned to it?
- 14:09So that's one start.
- 14:11And when it comes to your own energy, it's really looking at your life and your circumstances, whatever it is.
- 14:19Whatever in front of you, that is what you have brought into your reality.
- 14:23That is what your energy has attracted to, into your reality, for better or for worse.
- 14:27And you have the ability to change that or keep it, depending on what you desire.
- 14:34And that's really the first way to start.
- 14:37When you start looking around, especially if you're complaining about things, you are the only one that has the ability to change that.
- 14:43We always want others to change.
- 14:45I absolutely wanted my parents to be better.
- 14:48I wanted to be loved.
- 14:49I wanted to be consoled.
- 14:52I wanted to have that genuine feeling of what it is to be loved by a mother and a father.
- 14:59But my parents were so damaged, they didn't have that ability.
- 15:02I think they loved to the best of their ability, but when we are raised in any kind of narcissistic system, you can only love to the level that you've learned.
- 15:11And it's hard to learn beyond that.
- 15:14So your love is very limited.
- 15:16So one of my desires was to learn unconditional love.
- 15:20But in order to have that, I couldn't expect my parents to give it and change that.
- 15:24I had to find it.
- 15:26I had to find it and give it to myself first, but first I had to discover it.
- 15:30So look at your environment, look at what you're desiring, and then figure out how you discover that within yourself first.
- 15:39Because when you start giving it to yourself, that's when your reality starts reflecting back to you exactly what you wanted.
- 15:45Exactly.
- 15:45And it's funny that you said that because my last podcast, we just had a whole thing on unconditional love, 'cause that's where I hit that was my rock bottom when I was 26, pregnant, and realized I don't even
- 15:55know what that means.
- 15:56Like, how am I gonna have this little baby and...
- 16:01eh, I don't know what it means.
- 16:01I had no clue.
- 16:03I had never experienced it, and I'm like, "I don't know if I can do this."
- 16:06It was like that two by four, it had to happen because it had to catapult me into how do I become better than my parents were?
- 16:12How do I do that?
- 16:14And that was a big part of it.
- 16:15But I love what you said about the look at your life right now, and it is without a doubt a culmination of everything that you have done, every decision you've made, every choice you've made, for whatever reason.
- 16:28And like you said, the good or the bad.
- 16:30And that's a hard thing for some people because- When you grow up in that kind of trauma, especially until you become violently aware of that concept that you just said, you can tend to live the life of a
- 16:43victim.
- 16:45100%.
- 16:46I fully agree with that.
- 16:47Although I will say this, when you have grown up in, in a traumatic environment, an abusive environment, I believe having that victim period is important because you need to allow yourself that grief.
- 16:59You need to allow yourself that ability to process what you've experienced and to be validated for it.
- 17:05So I never wanna criticize anyone that's in that mode.
- 17:08I absolutely was in that mode of "I can't believe my parents did this to me.
- 17:11I can't believe my family did this to me."
- 17:13But I had to move beyond that.
- 17:15I'm not the victim.
- 17:16They're not the villains.
- 17:18This is the experience I needed, I signed up for, and I was able to make choices around it.
- 17:23And because I did I took my power back and I changed my life for the better.
- 17:27I have never been more happy in my life, but I've also never realized the kind of peace I could have brought into my life.
- 17:35I thought that kind of peace could only exist within that family system because it was my family, and we're understood, oh, you have to connect, stay with your family.
- 17:44It's your mother.
- 17:44How many times I'd hear that.
- 17:46But my gosh, breaking away from that, I have more peace than I've ever had.
- 17:50It's amazing.
- 17:51It's beautiful.
- 17:52I don't miss them.
- 17:53I just miss the idea of them.
- 17:55It would've been nice, but I'm not seeking it from them anymore.
- 17:59I'm giving them the love from a distance.
- 18:01I love you.
- 18:02I send you love.
- 18:03I wish all the best for you, but I recognize I love me, too, and I deserve the love that I now have in my life.
- 18:10Amen.
- 18:11And that is a good place to be.
- 18:13And I tell people, because there is that guilt, I don't know how many times people would say, "How can you say that?
- 18:17That's your mother.
- 18:18How can you not love her?"
- 18:19"That's your mother.
- 18:20How can you say, 'I hate you'?
- 18:21That's your mother."
- 18:22I'm like, "How can she pimp me out to her drug dealers?
- 18:25That's my mother."
- 18:26You know what I mean?
- 18:26Exactly.
- 18:26I'm like, there is a flip-flop here, and the people like I s- tell my clients, that are having struggles like, "Oh my gosh, my brother, it's such a toxic relationship."
- 18:36I said, "If he wasn't blood, would he be in your life?"
- 18:39Exactly.
- 18:39And if the answer is no, then it's okay.
- 18:43The people that I consider my family have no blood ties to me at all.
- 18:48Exactly.
- 18:49And that's okay.
- 18:50And yeah, so you...
- 18:51And to feel guilt about that, yes, you can feel sad about that, that you did lose that part like you said.
- 18:57You're gonna grieve that loss of what could've been or should've been or blah blah blah, but you can't.
- 19:02You can't delve on that for the rest of your life.
- 19:05You have to take care of you in the here and now.
- 19:08What would you suggest...
- 19:09I know I'm kinda talking all over the place.
- 19:11What does healing look like to you energetically?
- 19:15'Cause I love the whole energy thing.
- 19:17What does it look like?
- 19:20It w- like it comes on in layers, it releases in layers too.
- 19:24So when people are going through a healing process, I'll feel the shifts.
- 19:29I'll sometimes see it, but most often I feel it.
- 19:32You feel different today.
- 19:34When people work with me one-on-one, they'll usually work with me especially if they've had intense trauma, usually about a year.
- 19:42And it is amazing to see the transformation from the first session to the last session.
- 19:47And they're not the same person anymore.
- 19:50They're just this better version of themselves, and a lot of it is just that the energy is lighter.
- 19:54It's more vibrant.
- 19:55I would say vibrancy is the one thing that really stands out, and it's magnetic.
- 20:01And they feel it too.
- 20:03And really, it's because they've learned to love themselves.
- 20:06Yep.
- 20:07They've learned to look at themselves in a beautiful way a- and not have all that heaviness of what was weighing them down.
- 20:16And it always looks and feels different for each person, but that feeling of that lightness and that brightness in them and in their auric field is, it's just, it's beautiful.
- 20:28And I get very excited about it because, I always say my job is to get you to a point where you don't feel like you need me anymore.
- 20:35Amen.
- 20:35And then I feel like I've done something.
- 20:37You know- you want me?
- 20:38Sure, and I'll happily help, but where I've given you the tools, and you're now out in the world just living your best life.
- 20:45It can be a session or it can be a year.
- 20:47It doesn't matter.
- 20:48I feel lighter.
- 20:49Yes.
- 20:49Because when you walk into me, you have a backpack of experiences, emotions, this full backpack on your back that you can't see, but it's weighting you down.
- 21:00And like you said, every time you release something, that is an energetic release, and you're getting a little lighter.
- 21:06I use that for an example, and test it.
- 21:08Test it with yourself.
- 21:09If you forgive, quote unquote, "forgive" somebody for wronging you, and then they walk into a room and your stomach clenches, you are still holding onto that energy, and it's not gone yet.
- 21:20So that's how, you can do body tests.
- 21:23I'm sure you do, check your own body.
- 21:25Where are you feeling it?
- 21:25That is energy.
- 21:27Emotion is energy in motion.
- 21:29Get it out.
- 21:31Do you do a lot of that?
- 21:32Exactly.
- 21:32The body tells you everything.
- 21:34The body tells you everything you need to know about yourself, your experiences, and like you said, just those reactions.
- 21:40Those gut reactions are powerful.
- 21:42Yep, and that's a lot of, I'm sure a lot of what you're do- It's energy.
- 21:46We are all energy.
- 21:47I actually do a, an energy scan with my clients as a kind of bring them into my world kind of thing that checks 171,000 different frequencies of your energy, checks your chakras, checks your meridians.
- 22:00It checks your kneecap, whatever it is.
- 22:03And it just finds those imbalances, but at the end of the day, it's all getting these imbalances to release themselves however you have to do that.
- 22:13With animals, it's shaking that energy.
- 22:15That's that nervous energy.
- 22:16Yeah.
- 22:16They shake.
- 22:16With humans, if you need to shake, shake.
- 22:19So be it.
- 22:20Exactly.
- 22:21So how would you suggest to your clients that they start doing these small shifts on their own?
- 22:27What would be a couple first steps you would suggest to them?
- 22:31Always look at where you're at, because there are people that can't get out of bed every day, and then there are people that are just feeling very weighed down by experience.
- 22:42So movement is always helpful.
- 22:45If you're at the point you're not getting out of bed, the little micro movements that you do in bed will help you.
- 22:51And, m- and maybe one day you're just sitting up and you're putting your feet on the ground, so it's that, the, how it, you're building on it.
- 23:00A lot of things people also do is recycled thoughts, recycled experiences.
- 23:07When you are reliving these past experiences, you're constantly putting yourself in past energy.
- 23:13So working to rewrite those or shift it to something present, and it could be just as present as I'm looking at a dish right now, and it's blue, and I'm gonna wash this dish, and start saying it out
- 23:28loud to distract your mind from that old recycled pattern.
- 23:33That takes more time, but we often get so caught up in that, especially when we've had trauma.
- 23:40We relive the traumatic experiences because it's the body's way of connecting to safety.
- 23:47The more I prepare myself for the future based on the past, the safer I am.
- 23:54But it keeps us stuck in that old traumatic energy, and you're more likely to manifest it in the future- because you're literally recycling it over and over in your mind.
- 24:03So the universe is saying, "Oh, you like this.
- 24:06We'll give you more of it."
- 24:07And it sucks.
- 24:09I've absolutely experienced that myself, but when we get to that where some old memory comes up or some trigger comes up, start writing a different story, and make it the story about your day.
- 24:23What are you gonna do that day?
- 24:25And start saying it out loud.
- 24:26"Okay, I'm grabbing my keys right now.
- 24:28I'm grabbing my sunglasses.
- 24:29I'm walking out the door."
- 24:31Just to get that out of your mind, or you have to do something physical.
- 24:35Bounce a ball, jump up and down.
- 24:37Spin.
- 24:38Spinning is a good one also for chakras, clockwise motion, and, not too fast.
- 24:43But it just allows the body a reset.
- 24:46That's essentially what you are working on, is the energy of resetting.
- 24:50Because the more your body learns that reset, it doesn't go back to that default setting.
- 24:56So the reset is the process you're working on, and ultimately, you'll get to a place where you don't have to do it as much.
- 25:02Yeah.
- 25:04But it makes sense, especially when you've gone through trauma, you go through these spirals.
- 25:08Yes.
- 25:08One little thought, if you don't nip it in the bud and replace it with something else, like you said, where does anxiety come from?
- 25:14Either a memory from the past or catastrophizing about the future based on a memory from the past.
- 25:19So at no point are we in the present.
- 25:22So any of those things.
- 25:23I love that tip of just looking at something.
- 25:25I do that.
- 25:26I'll be like, just stare at something on your wall and be like interesting."
- 25:29Focus on the design on your paint, whatever it is.
- 25:32Just something to grab your attention back to not that.
- 25:37Exactly.
- 25:38Exactly.
- 25:38Not that.
- 25:39Wow, this has been fun.
- 25:41This has been super fun, actually.
- 25:42I want you to reiterate what you consider an old soul, and who might be a good client for you.
- 25:51Old souls are often recognizable through that energy weight.
- 25:56They just have this presence.
- 25:58You used the word in relation to your son, wisdom.
- 26:01They just have this wisdom connected to them, and you can't explain why.
- 26:06And this isn't always connected to, I, I will say intelligence, because old souls don't always do well academically, because school and them do not fit very well.
- 26:18The structure of a school environment does not work very well for an old soul's energy.
- 26:25So if you have that type of child and you think they're not very wise 'cause they're getting Cs and Ds," I'd be like, "Yeah, that's probably an old soul" because they're frustrated with that environment.
- 26:37And this is usually on that when you're working with a child, a teenager.
- 26:42Older people, when they get especially to their 20s and their 30s, they're probably exhausted because so much of that trauma energy has been weighing.
- 26:52So if they haven't been able to face it, work with it, allow any of it to release, by the time they get to the, definitely their 30s they're depleted on so many levels.
- 27:03So often they'll actually see, especially women, adrenal fatigue, and adrenal fatigue unfortunately can be connected to so many things, especially motherhood.
- 27:11Yeah.
- 27:12So it's not always, oh, you're an old soul, yeah, 'cause you have adrenal fatigue.
- 27:16But it's just one of those things I see.
- 27:20But other things is just the inner knowing.
- 27:23They have this inner f- knowing...
- 27:25their ability to read people is uncanny.
- 27:28They can read a room like nothing else.
- 27:31They'll walk into an environment, they could tell you if something is not good about it or if something is amazing about it.
- 27:38They just understand things without even knowing fully why they understand it, and they also have a deeper sense of who they are and what they want.
- 27:49Maybe not so much what they wanna do, because that's part of the journey.
- 27:54Sometimes they do.
- 27:55It really will depend And especially it depends on how connected t- they are to a previous life.
- 28:00So when you're seeing a very young child especially a prodigy or someone very connected to, like an instrument or an experience, you have these kids that are obsessed with outer space or obsessed with history, and no one in
- 28:14the house does anything of that nature.
- 28:17It's just very unique to that child.
- 28:19Those are all old soul hints.
- 28:23And I would say more often than not, they tend to be very challenged or challenging.
- 28:32I often say no one challenges a parent like an old soul child, because it is their clearest mirror of really showing you the things about yourself that you may or may not wanna see, and that could be a
- 28:47little triggering Okay.
- 28:49Yeah.
- 28:49No, that makes total sense.
- 28:51And I'm laughing because I'm thinking of my son in all these situations.
- 28:55I remember we used to pass the plates, and what's one thing you learned today?
- 28:58And I think he was in kindergarten, and we were passing our plates, and what's one thing you learned today?
- 29:02And he said, "I learned I don't really like school."
- 29:05Yep.
- 29:06And I was laughing.
- 29:06And he really didn't.
- 29:07He dropped out of college and everything else, but now he's in the military where he is the decision-maker, he is the critical thinker, he is the guy, and he's excelling like you wouldn't believe.
- 29:19And- Believe that, though, now- Yeah because he's just connected to him, so he got the...
- 29:23it's a freedom.
- 29:24It's a sense of freedom.
- 29:26Old souls don't do well with constructs.
- 29:28That's why school doesn't work well for them.
- 29:30So if anyone has the ab- knows they have an old soul child, if...
- 29:34And if they have the ability to homeschool I absolutely do recommend that.
- 29:38It makes the educational path a lot easier.
- 29:41Not at first, especially if you're not used to it, but over time, because they connect with who they are, and they just don't have that restriction that school often places.
- 29:51B- 'Cause school puts us in a box.
- 29:53Not everyone belongs in the same box, but school puts us all in the same box, and it's tough for a soul that knows there's more to them and more to life.
- 30:04But they're in this box.
- 30:05So, that constriction affects their body energy.
- 30:08That's why a lot of times they come home and they're in such a bad mood.
- 30:11It is very hard for them after a while to shake that energy, 'cause they don't know that a lot of what they're carrying isn't theirs.
- 30:18No, that makes total sense.
- 30:19You probably can't hear it from where you are.
- 30:21We are having a huge storm here, and I'm watching lightning right by my house.
- 30:24Oh, crazy.
- 30:25I'm like...
- 30:25Yeah, it is crazy right now.
- 30:26You can't hear it, can you?
- 30:28No.
- 30:28I, When you said that, maybe that little rumble, but no, Okay.
- 30:31No, it's crack, and my dog's barking.
- 30:33Oh, that's crazy.
- 30:34Yeah.
- 30:34Zoom is a wonderful thing, right?
- 30:36Yeah, indeed.
- 30:37But this has been super fun, but I love all of the, the conversations people have about energy, and I love when you bring it in with the intuition part of it and what you do, because that is so
- 30:48vitally important.
- 30:49And I encourage anybody to go take that quiz.
- 30:53Just find out.
- 30:54You never know.
- 30:55So tell people if they wanna take the quiz, learn more about you, come work with you, how do they do that?
- 31:00Easiest way to find me is my website, which is my name, chriswasco.com.
- 31:05Okay, perfect.
- 31:06And before you leave...
- 31:07first of all, thank you so much for coming on.
- 31:09And before you leave, can you give the listeners some words of advice or words of wisdom or just something kind of tangible they can take with them today to make their day a little brighter?
- 31:20Yeah, I often tell people that energy heals in micro movements.
- 31:26We often, especially in a very fast-paced society, want to heal yesterday, and that causes what I call a rubber band effect.
- 31:36You rush something, but you snap back into those old patterns.
- 31:40So when we want to make energetic changes that have the ability to last for long-term success, it's the smaller things you do each day to allow for those changes to stick.
- 31:51And doing that also honors your body to accept it, to allow it to integrate, and to allow it to accept this version of you're trying to be.
- 32:01But a lot of that is about having patience for yourself, and sometimes we get really frustrated with that part of the journey, 'cause we just wanna feel better.
- 32:09And I completely get it, but you didn't...
- 32:12it didn't happen overnight, so to switch it to where you want that's gonna take a little time but it also takes a lot of love.
- 32:19So that patience you have your, for yourself, the more you have, you realize those are those little bits of love you continue to give yourself each day.
- 32:26I love that.
- 32:27I absolutely love that.
- 32:28And I'm picturing the rubber band, and it's so true.
- 32:30Just- and not only that, when you think about that too, what happens to a rubber band?
- 32:34Eventually it's- Yeah doesn't come back to its- Exactly original shape.
- 32:37It comes back to a frayed, falling apart.
- 32:40It's not a good thing.
- 32:41And then it thinks that's the new norm.
- 32:44So yeah.
- 32:44Exactly.
- 32:45Make those small little micro steps.
- 32:47What would be your very first step you would encourage people to take?
- 32:51Two things, movement and breath.
- 32:55Because breath always keeps you in the present moment.
- 32:58So when you're getting into those past experience, future worries, start breathing.
- 33:04You don't have to do breathwork.
- 33:05The more trauma someone's had, the less aligned they are to breathwork.
- 33:09It takes time to connect to breathwork because you have to calm the nervous system.
- 33:12While breathwork can calm the nervous system, in those more high traumatic energy bodies, breathwork is a little too challenging.
