- 0:05Speaker 1: Politicians on my son and I'm to make a d.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Mallory and this is the place where the streets and
- 0:11Speaker 1: politics meet. We're so excited about our new partnership. Street
- 0:16Speaker 1: Politicians is going to have a larger, a bigger, bigger,
- 0:20Speaker 1: bigger platform, huge platform, and that's gonna be through our
- 0:27Speaker 1: great friendship and partnership with Charlemagne the God. We're so
- 0:31Speaker 1: proud of him and his new venture with I Heart Media,
- 0:36Speaker 1: the Black Effect Podcast Network. I gotta say it right,
- 0:39Speaker 1: The Black Effect Podcast networks a lot of words, but
- 0:44Speaker 1: it's it says all the things, all the things. It's
- 0:48Speaker 1: black people talking about black issues. Um, and it's through
- 0:52Speaker 1: a black person who's committed to social justice, committed to
- 0:55Speaker 1: black culture. And we are too excited to be able
- 0:59Speaker 1: to have our podcasts have some distribution. Is that's what
- 1:05Speaker 1: he says. It's blackety black, andy black. So that's the
- 1:08Speaker 1: new thing that folks need to know about Street Politicians.
- 1:10Speaker 1: And we're working on making sure that our podcast is
- 1:14Speaker 1: enjoyable for all of you. We won't just be talking
- 1:17Speaker 1: about politics. I know a lot of people think that, Um,
- 1:20Speaker 1: you know, we're just all we do all day long
- 1:22Speaker 1: is get up, go to sleep doing politics politics, right,
- 1:26Speaker 1: So that's why we called it Street Politicians, so that
- 1:30Speaker 1: we could talk about things that's going on just on
- 1:33Speaker 1: the streets in the world. This week, we got a
- 1:37Speaker 1: lot of stuff going on. Our organization Until Freedom is
- 1:42Speaker 1: very very busy, and my son has been running around.
- 1:46Speaker 1: You've been out in the street with Traded Truth, acting
- 1:48Speaker 1: like y'all the artists or something, doing some type of album.
- 1:51Speaker 1: First and foremost, I wrapped my ass. Yeah, so that's
- 1:54Speaker 1: first form. You do that sometimes, but you've been running
- 1:57Speaker 1: around all day at night acting like y'all putting something
- 2:00Speaker 1: and again, but shout out to my boy trade too.
- 2:02Speaker 1: We literally just got the phone. We're putting together this
- 2:05Speaker 1: album called If You're Scared Stay Inside. It's gonna be
- 2:09Speaker 1: one of the best albums of this ship because it's
- 2:13Speaker 1: it's our perspective, like being on the front lines of
- 2:15Speaker 1: this movement and also being from the hood and having
- 2:18Speaker 1: merged in that perspective. So we put together a soundtrack
- 2:22Speaker 1: to the movement, like the soundtrack to the front line
- 2:24Speaker 1: of the movie. Yeah, why does it so? Why does
- 2:27Speaker 1: it have to be so hard? Like, first of all,
- 2:29Speaker 1: you know, I talk big stuff sometimes, so I'm always
- 2:32Speaker 1: in trouble because my mouth, you know, so I get it.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I'm not saying that I don't agree. I'm just saying
- 2:36Speaker 1: that there are some people who may say, why does
- 2:39Speaker 1: it have to be like if you're scared, stay at
- 2:41Speaker 1: home instead of it being more inviting and friendly for people.
- 2:45Speaker 1: But it's usually more than likely it's gonna be a
- 2:47Speaker 1: scared person to ask you that question. Because if you're
- 2:50Speaker 1: not scared, then you get why I have to say
- 2:52Speaker 1: that because a lot of people are scared. So it's
- 2:55Speaker 1: few of us that orange scared scared of what this
- 2:57Speaker 1: period to be outside, to be on the front line,
- 3:00Speaker 1: to utilize your voice, to sacrifice, you know. So this
- 3:04Speaker 1: is what it is, and this is who we are.
- 3:06Speaker 1: We are alpha males who staying on the front line
- 3:08Speaker 1: besides our black sisters, you know, protecting our black sisters,
- 3:12Speaker 1: will in the sacrifice for our black sisters. So this
- 3:14Speaker 1: is the perspective that we come from. So just like
- 3:17Speaker 1: in the movement, it's not like if you're scared of
- 3:20Speaker 1: not because we've evolved past that. We have. If we
- 3:27Speaker 1: bolt past it, now we we with it. If we're
- 3:30Speaker 1: not gonna be oppressed, we're not gonna let you beat
- 3:32Speaker 1: us up. We ain't gonna let you harm us, you
- 3:35Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. But we we don't advocate for
- 3:37Speaker 1: that type of life style. Now we just will wonder.
- 3:40Speaker 1: We're willing to meet you where you are. Understand that
- 3:45Speaker 1: the evolution stay inside the evolution of a street hood. Dude,
- 3:49Speaker 1: you know, we're willing to meet you where you are.
- 3:51Speaker 1: We don't advocate for anybody, right, but we definitely running
- 3:55Speaker 1: for me. Well, we talked about you guys being out
- 3:57Speaker 1: here day and night acting y'all put until until I
- 4:03Speaker 1: hear it, y'all are acting like y'all doing something and
- 4:06Speaker 1: just using it as a reason for you in Trade
- 4:09Speaker 1: to be in Kentucky moving around meeting people, and y'all going,
- 4:15Speaker 1: I don't know where you're actually reported this count in
- 4:18Speaker 1: two days you did, you did, but now you're doing video.
- 4:21Speaker 1: So this is the new thing. So when we're working
- 4:23Speaker 1: at the table, you in trade somewhere right in and
- 4:25Speaker 1: talking and everybody got a job to do. That's what
- 4:29Speaker 1: you've said. So we're still in Kentucky, Still in Kentucky.
- 4:33Speaker 1: It's been two months, two whole months. It's rough. It's
- 4:37Speaker 1: a lot. You left your children, missed my kids. My
- 4:41Speaker 1: son's had a sacking game, and today they both score goals,
- 4:44Speaker 1: so I owe them gifts. You know, kissing was only
- 4:47Speaker 1: to him. I need to buy him a puppy. Puppy, Lord,
- 4:50Speaker 1: I'm not buying him because the puppy turns into a
- 4:54Speaker 1: whole another life that I got to Yeah, he ain't
- 4:57Speaker 1: gonna do that. He's gonna pick it up and then
- 4:59Speaker 1: want to start crapping all over the place. He's gonna
- 5:01Speaker 1: come and get me to do it when his home,
- 5:03Speaker 1: we're gonna come. I'm not coming. I told he could get.
- 5:06Speaker 1: He wants something else for his rodblots game, but I
- 5:08Speaker 1: ain't doing nothing for them. But it's it's difficult because
- 5:12Speaker 1: it's like, on one hand, we obviously UM made a
- 5:16Speaker 1: decision that I think was best for not just our organization,
- 5:21Speaker 1: but also just like the stress of taking planes back
- 5:24Speaker 1: and forth trying to get to Kentucky to stand with
- 5:27Speaker 1: Brianna's family would have been very taxing UM. And so
- 5:31Speaker 1: it's like you always give up something like you went
- 5:34Speaker 1: on one side and you give up on the other.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Because we gave up the comfort of our homes, our
- 5:39Speaker 1: families and and all of those things and the things
- 5:42Speaker 1: that were used to, you know, our cars and all
- 5:45Speaker 1: of that, to move in together with other folks and
- 5:50Speaker 1: trying to like figure out every day how not to
- 5:54Speaker 1: kill each other in one space, which we haven't done bad.
- 5:57Speaker 1: We've been all right, because I think it's because our
- 6:00Speaker 1: house is segmented and you can go to your little
- 6:03Speaker 1: go to your space. I go to mind, which we
- 6:05Speaker 1: often have to do. Especially when he was having our
- 6:07Speaker 1: big debate last night about loving relationships. You just walked
- 6:12Speaker 1: out on us and said you wasn't gonna be involved
- 6:14Speaker 1: in that conversation because I don't. I don't really agree
- 6:16Speaker 1: nothing we said at all. Right, okay, so it is
- 6:20Speaker 1: what it is. You know, Tippy Pop doesn't agree with you.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I thought that out yesterday. Okay, shout out to Tip
- 6:29Speaker 1: that's always agrees she does not. So she just was
- 6:33Speaker 1: telling the truth. Semika tells the truth. My son makes
- 6:36Speaker 1: up theory and to be like, so we went, that's
- 6:41Speaker 1: exactly what you don't even finish you like, well, if
- 6:45Speaker 1: she said it the reason why I happened, and you'll
- 6:49Speaker 1: be starting like the reason why I listen, that's right,
- 6:51Speaker 1: and then you may finished what she said before you agree. Anyway,
- 6:56Speaker 1: she would have to finish what you're saying for somebody
- 6:58Speaker 1: to agree with you. Tippic was like, that's right, what
- 7:01Speaker 1: she's saying right now, Ye, right there. Don't even finish
- 7:04Speaker 1: the words you left. And so that's one of the
- 7:08Speaker 1: ways that we've been able to get through it. But
- 7:10Speaker 1: it has been difficult to be away from our loved ones,
- 7:14Speaker 1: to and to and to be here in Kentucky. But
- 7:18Speaker 1: then being in Kentucky gave us the ability to be
- 7:21Speaker 1: able to get up and at the drop of the dime,
- 7:23Speaker 1: be in with the local community, be here for important moments,
- 7:27Speaker 1: planning organized. So many people have flown in to be
- 7:31Speaker 1: a part of our efforts, whether it be her Roland
- 7:35Speaker 1: who works with the NBA and some NFL players, whether
- 7:38Speaker 1: it be Kenny Stills, Tory Russell, who else, everybody don't
- 7:43Speaker 1: want to Tiffany Lofton from the n double A CP,
- 7:46Speaker 1: Leslie Redman from the n Double A c p uh
- 7:49Speaker 1: Dwana Tom, I mean, we just everybody, Stephen Green, who
- 7:52Speaker 1: is our main man, and it's just been and it's
- 7:55Speaker 1: so or traded truth. They've been able to fly in
- 7:59Speaker 1: and stay here to be like implants if you will.
- 8:03Speaker 1: In Louisville, to help with this fight to keep things going,
- 8:06Speaker 1: to stand with the local community. And so, um, I
- 8:09Speaker 1: guess you know, you give up some, you win some,
- 8:13Speaker 1: you lose some, or I don't want to say lose,
- 8:15Speaker 1: because we never lose our loved ones. But we definitely
- 8:19Speaker 1: have made that sacrifice. And so now, um, while we're here,
- 8:23Speaker 1: what we decided. I think the first month, we thought
- 8:25Speaker 1: we would definitely be here from August and September and
- 8:28Speaker 1: we would probably go home, and then we continue to
- 8:31Speaker 1: stay because we realized that Brianna Taylor is not just
- 8:35Speaker 1: a woman who was killed. I say that all the time.
- 8:37Speaker 1: She wasn't just killed. She was a person who had
- 8:40Speaker 1: a very full life. And the things that she cared
- 8:44Speaker 1: about in her life are things that matter to the
- 8:46Speaker 1: community that she left behind. So now we find ourselves
- 8:50Speaker 1: in a situation where we're actually building with the community,
- 8:54Speaker 1: working on our capacity building campaign, helping some of the
- 8:58Speaker 1: local organizations to grow into train and to figure out
- 9:03Speaker 1: ways to move forward. In light of the fact that
- 9:06Speaker 1: this major tragedy has happened in the community and things
- 9:09Speaker 1: have changed. It's not the same here. Um. So so
- 9:12Speaker 1: I hurried from so many and we're gonna be talking
- 9:14Speaker 1: to activists and others. Um you know, as time goes
- 9:18Speaker 1: on as a part of this series that we're doing
- 9:20Speaker 1: on Brianna Taylor, we'll be talking to a bunch of
- 9:23Speaker 1: folks that have been involved in the case, but now
- 9:26Speaker 1: we're on the ground in a different way. And then
- 9:29Speaker 1: we hooked up with us a state representative, Attica Scott,
- 9:32Speaker 1: who we also will be talking to on Brianna's law,
- 9:36Speaker 1: which will ban no knock warrants. It was done in Louisville,
- 9:40Speaker 1: which we know Katura Herron from a c l U
- 9:43Speaker 1: and Hannah Drake and others were able to get no
- 9:46Speaker 1: knock warrants banned in Louisville, but not in the state
- 9:49Speaker 1: of Kentucky and then their states all over the country
- 9:51Speaker 1: that still have the policy where police officers can use
- 9:55Speaker 1: a no knock warrant, and so we want to make
- 9:57Speaker 1: sure that that is banned, and therefore we support Brianna's law.
- 10:01Speaker 1: That's the goal, you know, Like you said, we realized
- 10:04Speaker 1: when we came here that although Brihanna was a major
- 10:08Speaker 1: issue and a major problem that we needed to focus on,
- 10:11Speaker 1: that it was so much more and that Brihanna, you know,
- 10:14Speaker 1: life meant so much more, and it created not only
- 10:18Speaker 1: just a conversation, but it created a movement that was
- 10:22Speaker 1: that was going to spark the world, you know, And
- 10:25Speaker 1: that's what we realized. And we realized that we had
- 10:27Speaker 1: to utilize our voice, we had to utilize our platforms,
- 10:31Speaker 1: we had to utilize all our resources to put them
- 10:35Speaker 1: here in Louisville, because right now this is ground zero
- 10:38Speaker 1: for the movement. What's happening here is going to shape
- 10:41Speaker 1: the next twenty to thirty years about of our lives. So,
- 10:45Speaker 1: you know, we realized that we had an important part
- 10:47Speaker 1: to playing that. You know, we had to be here
- 10:50Speaker 1: for the family of Brianna Taylor. We had to be
- 10:53Speaker 1: here for just the city of Louisville, because when we
- 10:55Speaker 1: got here, it wasn't just us working. It became family.
- 10:59Speaker 1: It became like we actually we actually live in Koku
- 11:05Speaker 1: for a minute, took up residency temporary residency, um and
- 11:10Speaker 1: and I think you know, now as it's sort of
- 11:12Speaker 1: it's sort of winding down because we've got to hit
- 11:14Speaker 1: the road, which you know, obviously our GOOTV efforts will
- 11:18Speaker 1: take us around the country. And as we begin the
- 11:22Speaker 1: process of moving out of Kentucky, it's sort of like
- 11:27Speaker 1: a bit of sweet feeling because now we've become one
- 11:30Speaker 1: with people who, um, these are some passionate and very
- 11:35Speaker 1: courageous individuals to see people hold down Brianna's name in
- 11:42Speaker 1: the way that she did. That they have and the
- 11:44Speaker 1: whole down an actual place in the middle of the
- 11:47Speaker 1: city apart, whether it's Injustice Square apart. It's over a
- 11:52Speaker 1: hundred years, I mean hundred over a hundred days. That's powerful.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Like really, it's now two hundred days I think since
- 11:59Speaker 1: Brianna was killed. Um, and and then on top of that,
- 12:04Speaker 1: people have been out there protesting since then, and a
- 12:06Speaker 1: lot of young people. And so it's a bit of
- 12:08Speaker 1: sweet feeling. But we'll be back. We're not going anywhere,
- 12:12Speaker 1: and we are going to start this GOOTV tour, which
- 12:16Speaker 1: also includes Kentucky because there is a major Senate race
- 12:19Speaker 1: happening in Kentucky, major Senate Senate. Everybody down exactly. Everybody
- 12:27Speaker 1: likes to talk with me, not Trump and Biden. I
- 12:30Speaker 1: don't like either one of them. But then when it
- 12:32Speaker 1: comes to showing up at the polls, you're not just
- 12:35Speaker 1: going there to vote for the top of the ticket.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Like you said, it's a down ballot issue, and if
- 12:40Speaker 1: you want to know who's actually in charge of the policies,
- 12:42Speaker 1: it's not so much the president that we need to
- 12:45Speaker 1: be focused on, although we do need to vote in
- 12:47Speaker 1: this election like we've never voted before. However, we need
- 12:52Speaker 1: to be focusing on down ballot elections, vocal elections. And
- 12:56Speaker 1: one of the people that is running is the person who,
- 12:59Speaker 1: in my judgment, is one of the puppet masters behind
- 13:02Speaker 1: the scenes for everything that we see happening, all the
- 13:05Speaker 1: craziness and outrageousness of this administration, and that is Senator
- 13:10Speaker 1: Mitch McConnell mconnell. Mitch McConnell, and Mitch mcconchell is no,
- 13:17Speaker 1: and Mitch McConnell is up against uh Is. He's actually
- 13:22Speaker 1: up for reelection. So in this particular election cycle, the
- 13:26Speaker 1: people of Kentucky have the right to decide whether he
- 13:29Speaker 1: goes back or not to Washington. And there's a woman
- 13:34Speaker 1: her named Amy McGrath who is running against him. We
- 13:37Speaker 1: are not telling people who would vote for, but what
- 13:39Speaker 1: we are saying is that if you want to see
- 13:41Speaker 1: a change, you have to actually do something about it.
- 13:44Speaker 1: So you gotta show up at the polls and for
- 13:47Speaker 1: Our tour will be everywhere from Alabama to Georgia to Florida,
- 13:52Speaker 1: to Michigan to Pennsylvania. We're gonna be all across the state.
- 13:56Speaker 1: But on the thirteenth of this month, we're gonna be
- 13:59Speaker 1: going along with Brianna Taylor Foundation, the Brianna Taylor Foundation.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I'm so excited about the family getting this foundation off
- 14:06Speaker 1: the ground, um and we're going to be with them
- 14:09Speaker 1: and the UH the Louisville Urban League, which is led
- 14:13Speaker 1: by our crazy dear friend Sadiqa Reynolds. We gotta have
- 14:19Speaker 1: SAD and we're going to be out taking people to
- 14:23Speaker 1: the polls to make sure that they get there, that
- 14:25Speaker 1: they're able to vote and do what they need to do.
- 14:28Speaker 1: So that's those things are good. Like you know, you
- 14:31Speaker 1: gotta actually be not just a protester, but you gotta
- 14:34Speaker 1: be a policymaker. Listen, we gotta turn protests into policy.
- 14:38Speaker 1: That's how I go. A lot of people say, what
- 14:40Speaker 1: are you protesting? Why are you a margin, Because that's
- 14:44Speaker 1: how you identify the allies. That's how you see who's
- 14:46Speaker 1: on the same page you are. That's how you create unity.
- 14:49Speaker 1: That's how you say we want this, and then you
- 14:51Speaker 1: can take that protest and then you turn it into policy.
- 14:55Speaker 1: There is a strategy. Don't question our strategy from your couch.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Don't arm cheer question I was strategy. Don't sit in
- 15:03Speaker 1: your house in question I was strategy because we know
- 15:06Speaker 1: what they'll say. They want to be able to question it,
- 15:09Speaker 1: but but don't. But you can't said, stop being critics
- 15:13Speaker 1: without credentials. We don't really want to hear you. If
- 15:17Speaker 1: you're not doing nothing. Don't tell me how to do something.
- 15:19Speaker 1: You can't do nothing and tell me how to do something.
- 15:22Speaker 1: If you're doing something, then you can critique by something.
- 15:24Speaker 1: But you can't critique by something if you are doing nothing.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I guess that was a bar. I mean, somebody says off,
- 15:36Speaker 1: So I guess that's one of those opportunities for you
- 15:39Speaker 1: to show that you actually are working on an album.
- 15:45Speaker 1: So as we talk about me wrapping my ass off,
- 15:48Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, that brings me into another topic.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Make the stallion. You know what I'm saying? Who I
- 15:54Speaker 1: actually love. I think she is just so dope I
- 15:57Speaker 1: was spoken. She is confident, She represents the black women
- 16:01Speaker 1: to the fullest to me. You know, in this week
- 16:05Speaker 1: she gave you a little shot out she did. And
- 16:08Speaker 1: you know, it's funny because it's funny because I remember
- 16:11Speaker 1: when Meg the Stallion first came out. You were kind
- 16:13Speaker 1: of like and then you studied her as you do
- 16:17Speaker 1: with artists all the time, and he was like, Okay,
- 16:19Speaker 1: she's a fish's gonna be so because you know what
- 16:20Speaker 1: I'm saying, when you first come out, they always bring
- 16:23Speaker 1: out girls. And she got a fat on this and that,
- 16:26Speaker 1: and I'd be like, O, can I hear you want you?
- 16:28Speaker 1: What else? You know? I'm care You've got a nice body,
- 16:32Speaker 1: but what else? You know what I'm saying. As I
- 16:33Speaker 1: started to listen to her, she had more when she
- 16:36Speaker 1: does interviews this content did there's a girl who was
- 16:40Speaker 1: in college that actually you know that actually told so
- 16:43Speaker 1: I understand this artistry. And then there's an individual. You know,
- 16:46Speaker 1: when I make the connection to both of them, I
- 16:49Speaker 1: like who she who she is and who she represents. Yeah,
- 16:52Speaker 1: I mean I'm super excited, super excited. And I've actually
- 16:56Speaker 1: had dinner with Meg, and so it's not you know
- 16:59Speaker 1: some people think and folks just yeah, people think that
- 17:01Speaker 1: people just like jump up, and I mean I never
- 17:04Speaker 1: went to dinner with Beyonce, but she still put me
- 17:06Speaker 1: on a song, so I thought that was quite incredible.
- 17:08Speaker 1: But that's Beyonce. It's just a different thing. But with Meg. Yeah,
- 17:13Speaker 1: so but with Meg, you know, um, we had dinner together,
- 17:17Speaker 1: and I learned a lot about her interests, right, and
- 17:22Speaker 1: how much she cares about the movement and young girls
- 17:24Speaker 1: and the things that she wants to do. And what
- 17:26Speaker 1: I found, quite honestly, is that it's like it's almost
- 17:30Speaker 1: like a lot of artists don't know if they should
- 17:33Speaker 1: or should not when they should and should not because
- 17:35Speaker 1: they get criticized for doing it and not doing how
- 17:38Speaker 1: they do what they do it. But that goes into
- 17:41Speaker 1: like we did the double excel right exactly, the double
- 17:45Speaker 1: left freshman's class, which y'all told me it was so
- 17:47Speaker 1: cool because I didn't know what the freshman's class was
- 17:51Speaker 1: and now I know it was. Actually they're so amazing,
- 17:54Speaker 1: They amazing and they want to be was dope, you know,
- 17:59Speaker 1: five year old. Who lord, it was so many now
- 18:04Speaker 1: you're gonna have to come up with the whole list.
- 18:05Speaker 1: But anyway, um, it was yeah, and that was a
- 18:08Speaker 1: great opportunity, and that's exactly what we're talking about. And
- 18:11Speaker 1: it's like, you don't know if you should or shouldn't.
- 18:13Speaker 1: If I don't say anything and just mind my business
- 18:15Speaker 1: to stay under the radar, at what point they're gonna
- 18:17Speaker 1: attack me for it if I do say something? How
- 18:20Speaker 1: what went and where? And so we were having that
- 18:22Speaker 1: conversation and then all of a sudden, I got a
- 18:24Speaker 1: call from Kevin Lows, who actually is on our board
- 18:27Speaker 1: UM and it's a great friend of mine. His company
- 18:30Speaker 1: is the management team for Meg, and they said they,
- 18:34Speaker 1: you know, wanted to put a clip of my speech
- 18:38Speaker 1: in something that Meg was doing. I didn't even know
- 18:40Speaker 1: what it was, and I don't do this at home.
- 18:43Speaker 1: They sent me a release form and that because because
- 18:46Speaker 1: of the fact that I know Meg well, not even
- 18:50Speaker 1: just knowing Meg, I know Kevin very well. I have lawyer.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Looked at it real quick, never listened to it, didn't
- 18:56Speaker 1: look at anything, don't know what's going on. And I
- 18:58Speaker 1: was like, if it's good and I'm not to be
- 19:00Speaker 1: in trouble, sign it. Don't ever do that, read it,
- 19:03Speaker 1: pay attention, focus and make sure you're doing the right thing.
- 19:06Speaker 1: But I was like, sign it because it's Kevin. I
- 19:08Speaker 1: trust him with my life. And the next thing. I know,
- 19:10Speaker 1: people start texting me talking about SNL, Meg the Stallion,
- 19:14Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh my god, this is so dang
- 19:17Speaker 1: on incredible. And in fact, one of our guests, attorney
- 19:20Speaker 1: Linita Baker, was the first person to hit me up
- 19:23Speaker 1: and tell me that I was on SNL. I just
- 19:25Speaker 1: was like, I was sitting there, like I told her, WHOA,
- 19:28Speaker 1: that's big. That was my response because I was so
- 19:32Speaker 1: shocked about it. It's a good thing, but you know,
- 19:36Speaker 1: it's really over there over there clapping. But that brings
- 19:42Speaker 1: me to my question of the day, my thought of
- 19:46Speaker 1: the day. You know, I watched the comments sometimes too much,
- 19:53Speaker 1: too much, and I see all of these people writing
- 19:58Speaker 1: that because Meg and her hit song. But you know,
- 20:01Speaker 1: I was in big trouble about why I was. They
- 20:04Speaker 1: was They went crazy when I said that I supported on.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Let me tell you, they was so mad. And I
- 20:10Speaker 1: was over there telling them that why is the number
- 20:13Speaker 1: one selling thing in the world. So I don't know
- 20:18Speaker 1: how all of a sudden, when it's been selling from
- 20:21Speaker 1: artists to artists, been selling from Uji Wally Bang Bang
- 20:25Speaker 1: to Erica. Kids sold it too. I mean we've been
- 20:29Speaker 1: selling it. In fact, not only people selling it. Some
- 20:32Speaker 1: people are using it, but that's a whole different thing,
- 20:34Speaker 1: um and and the people buying it. That's what I'm saying.
- 20:38Speaker 1: So like now, all of a sudden, when Meg and
- 20:40Speaker 1: Cardi do it, because of the fact that it's it's
- 20:43Speaker 1: so I don't know it's it. It is explicit, we
- 20:46Speaker 1: know that, but it's also lights Cameron's action. But there
- 20:49Speaker 1: are young people watching them. But they are young people.
- 20:53Speaker 1: But you know what I mean, my thought of the day,
- 20:54Speaker 1: and then you could argue with me, and then we
- 20:56Speaker 1: got to move one. So the thing about it, though,
- 20:58Speaker 1: is that what I struggle with is this judgment that
- 21:03Speaker 1: people have of celebrities. It's just if these folks are
- 21:08Speaker 1: just perfect individuals who just do everything one way all
- 21:12Speaker 1: the time. That is not the reality of human beings.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Human beings are very multidimensional. Some days we want to twork,
- 21:21Speaker 1: some days we want to dance, Some days we want
- 21:23Speaker 1: to sing, some days we want to pray, some days
- 21:26Speaker 1: we don't want to get up out the bed. We
- 21:28Speaker 1: go through different things, right, And the thing that I think,
- 21:32Speaker 1: or my my thought is that I'm trying to help
- 21:35Speaker 1: other people to come with me on this journey. Is
- 21:38Speaker 1: why is it that just because Meg is talking about
- 21:42Speaker 1: why she's talking about savages, She's talking all of this
- 21:45Speaker 1: good stuff for bad stuff, however you want to categorize it.
- 21:48Speaker 1: She's extremely sexy, she's you know, and and and it
- 21:52Speaker 1: is very explicit at times a lot of times. Why
- 21:56Speaker 1: does that mean that she can't care about her community
- 21:59Speaker 1: or can't care about like you think that they care
- 22:01Speaker 1: whether you are a dancer or a ball player or
- 22:05Speaker 1: a lawyer. When they pull you over in the car
- 22:07Speaker 1: and they kill you, they don't check your credentials of
- 22:09Speaker 1: what you do. So why is it that she is
- 22:12Speaker 1: not able to be an explicit, uh, sexy, confident artist
- 22:19Speaker 1: who has number one hits right and at the same
- 22:23Speaker 1: time say Brianna Taylor, like because she could have been
- 22:26Speaker 1: in her house and been Brianna Taylor. So I'm just
- 22:30Speaker 1: and and mind you, some of the very people talking
- 22:32Speaker 1: about this, they out here selling what themselves to understand
- 22:38Speaker 1: that's once again critics with our credentials, sh critics who's
- 22:42Speaker 1: just sitting at home and talk And you know, for me,
- 22:43Speaker 1: it's like we always want to call celebrities and influences
- 22:48Speaker 1: to the table and say why aren't you saying this
- 22:50Speaker 1: why aren't you using your platform to talk about these things?
- 22:53Speaker 1: And then we criticize, and when they actually do so,
- 22:56Speaker 1: it gives makes a lot of artists say I'm not
- 22:58Speaker 1: gonna say anything because I want to deal with the criticism,
- 23:01Speaker 1: because you know, I haven't actually lived my life in
- 23:03Speaker 1: a perfect way. So when I talk about things that
- 23:06Speaker 1: are subsequent to our lives, you know that really matter
- 23:10Speaker 1: to our culture. That's you know, how we are in
- 23:13Speaker 1: danger right now. So when I talk about those things,
- 23:16Speaker 1: you know, I don't want to hear the backlash of
- 23:18Speaker 1: people saying that I'm a hypocrite. I'm not a hypocrite.
- 23:21Speaker 1: I want. I like to talk about why I'm coming
- 23:24Speaker 1: to the street. I talk about is do we have
- 23:27Speaker 1: to create a list of like the perfect artists. There's
- 23:31Speaker 1: the bottom line. Let me tell yourself, there's no perfect anything.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Every we want. This is what until freedom, and you
- 23:38Speaker 1: see these things. Until freedom is about anyone who wants
- 23:43Speaker 1: to betterment of our people, wants to see us evolve. Anybody,
- 23:47Speaker 1: there is an intersection for you in this movement. You
- 23:51Speaker 1: can we expandex you can work in the strip club,
- 23:53Speaker 1: you can come home from jail. You want to change
- 23:55Speaker 1: your life around. You could be on the corner, You
- 23:58Speaker 1: could have been in a gang if you just side
- 24:00Speaker 1: that you want to see better for your people and
- 24:02Speaker 1: you want to do better, and you want to utilize
- 24:04Speaker 1: your voice in your platform. This is what we were
- 24:07Speaker 1: actually and see that's what I think, and we we
- 24:11Speaker 1: need to do a whole new show. And also we
- 24:13Speaker 1: got to talk to Meg because there's so much I think.
- 24:17Speaker 1: I think she needs to be a part of it.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I think we need to talk to Cardi Um so
- 24:20Speaker 1: we can haves, so we can have these Concardi loves you.
- 24:25Speaker 1: She always my brother, my brother, my son UM, and
- 24:28Speaker 1: she's been extremely supportive of us, and I think we
- 24:30Speaker 1: need to have this conversation. But I also think that
- 24:33Speaker 1: we need to do a show with our co founders
- 24:35Speaker 1: just to talk about who we're after, because there's this
- 24:38Speaker 1: perception that I can't believe to Mika would and I
- 24:42Speaker 1: have to explain because I got calls from preachers and
- 24:44Speaker 1: others saying, well, you shouldn't allow them to use you
- 24:47Speaker 1: in this way. And when I finished explain it to them,
- 24:49Speaker 1: the audience that I'm after, I'm not after you, Reverend,
- 24:53Speaker 1: like I want you to be an ally with me
- 24:55Speaker 1: and I hope that we can work together, that I
- 24:57Speaker 1: could bring you in to help support what the growth
- 25:01Speaker 1: of some of these young folks and to be a
- 25:04Speaker 1: part of the family that we're creating. But you are
- 25:06Speaker 1: not the audience that I am trying to go after.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I'm looking for the ones who are following Meg the Stallion.
- 25:14Speaker 1: That's who I want to talk to, want to want,
- 25:16Speaker 1: we want the right I wanted to. Don't say they
- 25:21Speaker 1: don't say listen to what I'm saying to people who
- 25:23Speaker 1: have been edged out. But that's not true. Because because no,
- 25:28Speaker 1: because don't want because no, because because because there are
- 25:33Speaker 1: there are people who are at the top of the game.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I understand that, but don't be associate in the least
- 25:40Speaker 1: of these. No, you said that because I was just
- 25:43Speaker 1: speaking to it doesn't matter. I was speaking about the
- 25:47Speaker 1: audience that we're after, and then you inserted your word
- 25:51Speaker 1: and said, we want the least of these and what
- 25:52Speaker 1: I'm saying, don't do so I say that in your
- 25:55Speaker 1: time when that is an other part of it. But
- 26:01Speaker 1: it's not even whether it's the least of these, it
- 26:03Speaker 1: is a mentality that people have that they are free,
- 26:07Speaker 1: that they free falling and they're sexy that they don't
- 26:10Speaker 1: they're not bound by some of the things that we
- 26:13Speaker 1: have learned that you got to be a certain type
- 26:15Speaker 1: of thing. Your skirt gotta be under your knees and
- 26:17Speaker 1: this in order for you to be respected in the movement.
- 26:20Speaker 1: And I'm not saying that that's we want that too, right,
- 26:22Speaker 1: we want those people to be with us, to be
- 26:24Speaker 1: allies with us. But if we are going to actually
- 26:27Speaker 1: make a change in society, we've got to go to
- 26:30Speaker 1: and meet our people where they are. And they are
- 26:33Speaker 1: not always in the church in the in the right
- 26:35Speaker 1: places and the right spaces. Sometimes you actually got to
- 26:38Speaker 1: go get them out of the joke joint. Like, that's
- 26:41Speaker 1: just what it is. So what I mean by the
- 26:43Speaker 1: least of these is not to deter anybody or talk
- 26:46Speaker 1: down but the people whose society says that, the people
- 26:51Speaker 1: with society deemed not able to speak on these things,
- 26:55Speaker 1: the people who a lot of organizations would have been like,
- 26:57Speaker 1: these people are not politically correct, so we can't be
- 27:01Speaker 1: you cleaned it up. Well, that's what I meant, But
- 27:03Speaker 1: that is what you mean because you definitely because I'm
- 27:07Speaker 1: the least of these, well people say that about you
- 27:16Speaker 1: you say that all the time. This is this joke,
- 27:18Speaker 1: running joke that we have. And we got to move on.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Where when I told you, like my son, don't lean
- 27:24Speaker 1: on the garbage can, or my son you shouldn't eat that,
- 27:27Speaker 1: did you see that the shrump still has the little
- 27:30Speaker 1: piece of poop in it? And this and that, And
- 27:32Speaker 1: then you'll say to me, I was in jail for
- 27:34Speaker 1: seven years, and if I thought the way that you said,
- 27:37Speaker 1: if I thought the way that you're speaking, you wouldn't
- 27:41Speaker 1: to survive. But you're not in jail anymore. I get you. Know.
- 27:44Speaker 1: What I'm trying to is that I know how to
- 27:45Speaker 1: adapt to anything. I don't need to sleep on the bed.
- 27:48Speaker 1: I can see on the couch, I can see on
- 27:50Speaker 1: the rug. I'm gonna survive. But we're not doing that anymore.
- 27:55Speaker 1: We're gonna take a quick break and we come back.
- 27:58Speaker 1: We're going to be joined by the family and be
- 27:59Speaker 1: on the two. So we're back and we are here
- 28:08Speaker 1: with folks that I consider to be family. We considered
- 28:13Speaker 1: to be family family to until freedom, but family to
- 28:16Speaker 1: us personally, and that is the family of Brianna Taylor.
- 28:20Speaker 1: But not just family Brianna's mom. To make a Palmer
- 28:24Speaker 1: and her sister, Jenia Palmer, who actually lived in the
- 28:28Speaker 1: house with Brianna all the way until this tragic incident occurred.
- 28:33Speaker 1: And so thank you all, first of all for being
- 28:35Speaker 1: with us on street politicians today. Thank you for having us. Yeah,
- 28:39Speaker 1: we're excited. You know. They don't like to they don't
- 28:42Speaker 1: like to do anything, like to do anything. So we
- 28:44Speaker 1: we special. We called we FaceTime, like we need you
- 28:47Speaker 1: to come to Like, all right, I'll be there, she says,
- 28:51Speaker 1: know that ever all the time, every time I try
- 28:53Speaker 1: to get it to speaks. So when she like I
- 28:55Speaker 1: put the micy, she just looks at me, and I
- 28:58Speaker 1: can understand. It's not anything to talk about. It's not
- 29:01Speaker 1: like somebody's asking me to about your favorite album or
- 29:04Speaker 1: you know, a hairstyle or something like. You know, we're
- 29:07Speaker 1: asking you to talk about a real, real, real, deep, tragic,
- 29:13Speaker 1: dark situation that you're living with every single day. And
- 29:17Speaker 1: to not be in the spotlight all the time and
- 29:20Speaker 1: then be thrust into the spotlight um and again, not
- 29:24Speaker 1: because you had a hit song or the best clothing
- 29:26Speaker 1: or whatever, but because of the death, the murder of
- 29:30Speaker 1: your loved one. Is got to be a hard place absolutely,
- 29:36Speaker 1: there's nothing else to say. It's just a hard place,
- 29:39Speaker 1: I know, I know. So let's see. I think for
- 29:43Speaker 1: me and and and my son and I were talking
- 29:46Speaker 1: a lot about how to how to really approach this
- 29:49Speaker 1: interview because um we we also we love y'all so
- 29:54Speaker 1: much that we don't want to put you through having
- 29:56Speaker 1: to talk about things that we know. I've seen you
- 29:59Speaker 1: cringe when people ask you to make my main faith
- 30:02Speaker 1: by the way we spell it the same and everything. Um,
- 30:06Speaker 1: when people ask you to try to go back to
- 30:09Speaker 1: everything that has happened, especially that night I see it
- 30:13Speaker 1: on your face, is like the worst thing to have
- 30:15Speaker 1: to relive that. And oftentimes people who are in media,
- 30:19Speaker 1: we don't like to think of ourselves as being in media,
- 30:21Speaker 1: but we are. Um people they don't they don't understand
- 30:26Speaker 1: like the nature of like how real it is and
- 30:29Speaker 1: how how what's the word this is not like for TV,
- 30:33Speaker 1: like it's you know, it's a real thing that you're
- 30:35Speaker 1: dealing with, And so they just ask the same questions
- 30:38Speaker 1: and just constantly probing, looking for the thing that just
- 30:41Speaker 1: kind of breaks you down so they could get the shot,
- 30:44Speaker 1: you know. And I and we were like, we're just
- 30:46Speaker 1: not doing that, that's not what we wanted to do. Um,
- 30:50Speaker 1: And so we decided that people can just go do
- 30:54Speaker 1: the research on that night. I think the FX documentary
- 30:58Speaker 1: that The New York Times did is actually a good documentary.
- 31:02Speaker 1: I don't think it's perfect, and I don't even know
- 31:04Speaker 1: because we never discussed it, but I saw some things
- 31:06Speaker 1: that I know weren't exactly accurate. But it is a
- 31:10Speaker 1: good way to help people understand the basics around what happened.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Your voice is in it, Kenny's voices in the documentary, um,
- 31:18Speaker 1: and so if people want to know and Jenia right,
- 31:25Speaker 1: and I think I have interview, but okay, so we
- 31:33Speaker 1: gotta fix that because you're a powerful voice. But we'll
- 31:36Speaker 1: get to that in a minute. But um, you know,
- 31:39Speaker 1: we decided that people should go watch things like that
- 31:42Speaker 1: to get the beginning. You know, at first, we were like,
- 31:44Speaker 1: are we gonna ask about that night now? Because it's
- 31:46Speaker 1: everywhere you talked about it over and over again, and
- 31:49Speaker 1: so with ware, I think we should start. And what
- 31:52Speaker 1: we decided was that the thing that has us the
- 31:55Speaker 1: most piste off and I keep talking about this over
- 31:58Speaker 1: and over and over again, is that leading up to
- 32:02Speaker 1: the last days before we heard from Daniel Cameron, the
- 32:07Speaker 1: Kentucky Attorney General. Sam Agar your attorney told me, and
- 32:12Speaker 1: I checked with him to make sure I wasn't in
- 32:13Speaker 1: trouble for telling this, but he said it was okay.
- 32:17Speaker 1: That he spoke with the Attorney General's office and he
- 32:21Speaker 1: told them, please do not have Tamika and her family
- 32:26Speaker 1: go all the way to Frankfort, which is an hour
- 32:28Speaker 1: away from home. I guess, y'all people that speed really
- 32:31Speaker 1: fast here. This is the only place, by the way
- 32:34Speaker 1: where we go. Anywhere else people don't drive right, But
- 32:36Speaker 1: in Kentucky we have been complaining about how y'all drive.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Y'all drive a little fast here. Um, but this ride
- 32:42Speaker 1: for forty minutes or hour or whatever to get to
- 32:47Speaker 1: Frankfort to hear a bullshit decision. We didn't want that, right,
- 32:52Speaker 1: He said, don't have them come for something that you
- 32:56Speaker 1: know is going to upset her one. And I think
- 33:00Speaker 1: if he said, um, because the ride back, it's not fair.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Don't do that to her. And still you were asked
- 33:09Speaker 1: to come quickly. It gave you a quick turn around
- 33:13Speaker 1: to show up in Frankfurt, which you did. You went there,
- 33:17Speaker 1: And so I think the first question that I have.
- 33:19Speaker 1: And again I'm sorry for having to ask something that
- 33:22Speaker 1: I know is painful to talk about. But what was
- 33:26Speaker 1: the drive going and the drive coming back? Like, in
- 33:29Speaker 1: light of the fact that you had already been told,
- 33:33Speaker 1: or at least your lawyer said, don't have us come
- 33:35Speaker 1: for nothing, so going, how are you feeling? Um hopeful?
- 33:40Speaker 1: You know? So like you said, they've we've already said,
- 33:43Speaker 1: don't make us drive down here for anything. And the
- 33:46Speaker 1: fact that you call and you need us here in
- 33:48Speaker 1: this short amount of time, so something has to come,
- 33:53Speaker 1: something good has to come from that. So I'm not
- 33:57Speaker 1: really sure of what it would have been. Uh. I
- 34:00Speaker 1: never trusted Cameron to begin with, but I was a
- 34:04Speaker 1: little hopeful because here I am driving this drive to
- 34:08Speaker 1: hear whatever it is you had to say. He could
- 34:11Speaker 1: have caused me on the phone. He could have called
- 34:13Speaker 1: me on the phone. Coming home was terrible. I threw
- 34:20Speaker 1: up a lot coming home, so we we had to
- 34:23Speaker 1: keep pulling over and it just was it was long.
- 34:26Speaker 1: It was like I was never getting home. And so yeah,
- 34:32Speaker 1: I finally did get home. I just I don't know.
- 34:39Speaker 1: I was in bed just the rest of the day.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I never I didn't get up. Now mhm. And you
- 34:47Speaker 1: were waiting to hear what was what happened? How did
- 34:52Speaker 1: you feel did you you believe like, Okay, well she's
- 34:54Speaker 1: going there's gotta be something good exactly what I called
- 34:58Speaker 1: h And then I said it at home and watched
- 35:00Speaker 1: it on TV on my best friend. It's like, boll,
- 35:03Speaker 1: that was kind of blameless. She could stayed at home
- 35:06Speaker 1: and we could have watched it as a family. Mm hmm.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I think for me, you know, that's what that's what
- 35:13Speaker 1: bothered me. You know, we were here with you guys,
- 35:16Speaker 1: and you know, and we had been privy to a
- 35:19Speaker 1: little bit of that information also, and we sat in
- 35:21Speaker 1: the square with everybody else, you know, and when I
- 35:25Speaker 1: heard when I heard it, for me, it was just
- 35:28Speaker 1: like I would just imagine to me, you drive at
- 35:31Speaker 1: home like after that, I just wanted to understand, like
- 35:36Speaker 1: like how why would he meet this woman drive out there?
- 35:40Speaker 1: You know? And and that I was stucked for like
- 35:43Speaker 1: probably for about thirty minutes straight. So I know that
- 35:46Speaker 1: that so basically you saying before I remember when you
- 35:50Speaker 1: originally met with Cameron, which was months afterwards, because he
- 35:55Speaker 1: never even reached out to you until how many months
- 35:57Speaker 1: was it? Oh? God by then it probably was four months,
- 36:03Speaker 1: but four months was the first time he even called
- 36:06Speaker 1: you guys, and and he what did he do when
- 36:08Speaker 1: he called you just the offered condos is um just
- 36:15Speaker 1: that he would do everything he could to make sure
- 36:20Speaker 1: the truth came out and UM, and that he would
- 36:23Speaker 1: definitely reach out and talk to me before any um
- 36:28Speaker 1: he released the information to the public, because that was
- 36:31Speaker 1: part of the thing that we were tired of finding out.
- 36:35Speaker 1: UM when the public found out and you know that,
- 36:38Speaker 1: I thought it was disrespectful for one UM, but he
- 36:42Speaker 1: assured me that wouldn't happen again. But but once again
- 36:46Speaker 1: he pretty much failed. And it's like and I think
- 36:49Speaker 1: that's what it was for me, just understanding that. I
- 36:52Speaker 1: remember after you had came back, because you came over
- 36:54Speaker 1: here and we sat and we talked for a while,
- 36:56Speaker 1: and y'all would not like you had much in the
- 37:00Speaker 1: system on him, but you said that he seemed like
- 37:04Speaker 1: he was authentic, like he seemed like he wanted to
- 37:06Speaker 1: do that he had a heart. That was a specific word.
- 37:11Speaker 1: That's what it was. He definitely acted as if he
- 37:16Speaker 1: did and it definitely wasn't act because even in the
- 37:20Speaker 1: even the moment of him telling me, whatever the decision
- 37:24Speaker 1: was he put on the show is what it was.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Mm hmm. So finding out that the only indictment because
- 37:35Speaker 1: your your sister, Bianca describes a moment where she feels like, oh, well,
- 37:41Speaker 1: I do hear something. You know, there's some indictment that's happening,
- 37:45Speaker 1: and so it's like, not not that it was the
- 37:48Speaker 1: full justice or whatever, but it just sounded like something.
- 37:52Speaker 1: And then she says there was a moment which I
- 37:55Speaker 1: also heard a lot about them, We're gonna talk to
- 37:57Speaker 1: attorney and Leada Baca, where she had to explain that
- 38:02Speaker 1: the actual charge wasn't for someone killing Brianna, it was
- 38:06Speaker 1: for the wall, the bullets that went in the wall.
- 38:09Speaker 1: So he actually had you drive to Frankfort to tell
- 38:12Speaker 1: you that they were indicting the wall. Absolutely, the bullets
- 38:18Speaker 1: in the wall, you know that was that was what
- 38:21Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. And you always said
- 38:23Speaker 1: you never have faith why because of the city. Well,
- 38:28Speaker 1: a part of it being the way the system has
- 38:31Speaker 1: always been set up and the way it's always treated us.
- 38:34Speaker 1: It's black people, um be just because to know learning
- 38:39Speaker 1: anything about the history of Cameron, I just I never
- 38:43Speaker 1: felt that this particular um decision should have been left
- 38:49Speaker 1: up to him. He wasn't equipped to do the right thing.
- 38:53Speaker 1: And he also made a commitment when he took the
- 38:58Speaker 1: Fraternal Order of Police that the police union, this is
- 39:01Speaker 1: the people the FOP there, they are the the big
- 39:05Speaker 1: boys for the police. That's where the folks the officers
- 39:09Speaker 1: run to for problems, for issues, right, so he he
- 39:14Speaker 1: took an endorsement from them, a national organization. Every time
- 39:20Speaker 1: a black person is killed in this country and it
- 39:23Speaker 1: is a high profile situation where police are involved, they
- 39:27Speaker 1: come out and try to defend the police officers action.
- 39:31Speaker 1: I think in George Floyd they were a little like, well,
- 39:34Speaker 1: you know, this was wrong. But that's because they know
- 39:37Speaker 1: people could see right on tape exactly what happened. And
- 39:42Speaker 1: so for them to try to go in the opposite
- 39:44Speaker 1: direction when folks were burning down Minneapolis, it probably wasn't
- 39:48Speaker 1: the right way to go, right like, it would have
- 39:50Speaker 1: just incited more. But and so that's a political move
- 39:54Speaker 1: because they haven't shown that they actually care about black bodies.
- 39:58Speaker 1: And so when when you're when Daniel Cameron is standing
- 40:01Speaker 1: there and he's accepting their nomination into I mean their
- 40:05Speaker 1: endorsement in two thousand and nineteen. I think he says,
- 40:10Speaker 1: I understand exactly what this endorsement means. I will be
- 40:16Speaker 1: the voice and advocate for law enforcement. So why would
- 40:21Speaker 1: we ever think even though I was hopeful, I was hopeful,
- 40:24Speaker 1: But why would we ever think that he was going
- 40:27Speaker 1: to be Brianna's advocate? Which is so painful, absolutely so,
- 40:33Speaker 1: which is why I say he was never equipped to
- 40:35Speaker 1: do that job. He stood he had already accepted to
- 40:39Speaker 1: be on the police side. Yeah, he already made that decision.
- 40:43Speaker 1: And we see it now. It's clear people thought we
- 40:45Speaker 1: were a little crazy, like you're just saying it now,
- 40:47Speaker 1: we're like the little emoji and hand when you sit
- 40:51Speaker 1: there and you actually looked back. He knew this week
- 40:54Speaker 1: so right, because he never actually even presented anything that
- 40:58Speaker 1: looked like justice for Brianna till so he called you
- 41:01Speaker 1: when he could have. I mean, he made you drive
- 41:03Speaker 1: up and he could have called you a week ago
- 41:05Speaker 1: when he presented it to because he knew he never
- 41:07Speaker 1: presented anything that was gonna get justice for reality. He
- 41:11Speaker 1: knew that the moment they were putting boards up on
- 41:13Speaker 1: windows down, he chose to drag that out he chose
- 41:18Speaker 1: to torture me and my family even more. He chose
- 41:22Speaker 1: that you said something about how it feels that your
- 41:26Speaker 1: daughter has died over and over again, four hundred and
- 41:29Speaker 1: ninety four days at that time, at the time, how
- 41:32Speaker 1: many days has it been? Now, goodness, it's just time
- 41:37Speaker 1: to stop. Day like the past, that day, that day
- 41:43Speaker 1: killed me out. Mm hmm. Yeah. So you know, it's
- 41:50Speaker 1: a lot goes on and everybody has an opinion, everybody
- 41:54Speaker 1: has a story, and you know, me knowing you guys
- 41:57Speaker 1: and y'all like my family. You know, I'm literally like
- 42:05Speaker 1: your family. So I take a lot of stuff first.
- 42:08Speaker 1: So I just want to know, like, this is something
- 42:11Speaker 1: that's been going on constantly hearing it over does it
- 42:14Speaker 1: bother you? How does it make you feel when people
- 42:17Speaker 1: constantly say that Brianna was a drug deal, disrespected, angry,
- 42:22Speaker 1: ps um. I could go on forever. She's always texting me.
- 42:29Speaker 1: I know you said I shouldn't be disrespectful to grown people,
- 42:32Speaker 1: but they they're pissing me off, you know, So it's
- 42:39Speaker 1: you know, yeah, it's But at the same time, there's
- 42:43Speaker 1: people who in the beginning we're saying those things, who
- 42:46Speaker 1: are writing me now on social media. I'm so sorry
- 42:50Speaker 1: that I ever thought that. I'm so sorry because the
- 42:53Speaker 1: more of this story comes out each day, there's a
- 42:55Speaker 1: new piece of information that shows that these officers were wrong,
- 42:59Speaker 1: that Daniel Camera was wrong, and there's people who wish
- 43:02Speaker 1: that they were never on that side. That's that's right,
- 43:05Speaker 1: that's right. And I know we can't talk about the
- 43:07Speaker 1: legal case because there are other legal avenues that your
- 43:11Speaker 1: attorneys who will be coming up after you, will talk about.
- 43:16Speaker 1: But this idea that suspicious packages was going where you live,
- 43:20Speaker 1: does it make you feel like I'm didn't they I'm
- 43:23Speaker 1: telling you all that we didn't have I mean, talk
- 43:26Speaker 1: about how that makes you feel knowing that people are
- 43:29Speaker 1: making up a storyline and the police made it up.
- 43:33Speaker 1: To be clear, they made it up, because it's very
- 43:36Speaker 1: obvious at this point that the postal service told them
- 43:39Speaker 1: more than one time, no packages, no packages, no packages.
- 43:43Speaker 1: Even a month after Brianna was killed. The officer went
- 43:49Speaker 1: back trying to ask again while they're building a case,
- 43:54Speaker 1: and the post office said no. Yeah. It's annoying because
- 43:59Speaker 1: if they really know, all those packages was for me
- 44:01Speaker 1: on her because we both are going on vacation and
- 44:03Speaker 1: we can part from each other. So it's like getting
- 44:06Speaker 1: your stuff whatever, you get everything we needed for our regulations.
- 44:08Speaker 1: But everybody uses Amazon this and that, like this is
- 44:13Speaker 1: what we do well. Not only that, it's everybody, all
- 44:17Speaker 1: of us who ordered things send it to that house
- 44:19Speaker 1: because somebody is always there to get the packages there
- 44:23Speaker 1: because you know the neighbors and everybody will look out
- 44:27Speaker 1: for packages. So I order, everything goes to this house.
- 44:31Speaker 1: My sister, everything goes to this house. So and they
- 44:34Speaker 1: assume that just because we're black and that somebody in
- 44:38Speaker 1: this situation has a sketchy background, that it just makes
- 44:42Speaker 1: Brianna Taylor and her home your home the trap house.
- 44:48Speaker 1: It's not. It's just unbelievable. It's unbelievable because to know
- 44:54Speaker 1: Brianna is she is. She's the person, in a heartbeat,
- 44:58Speaker 1: was that if you get caught with something my car,
- 45:00Speaker 1: I'm telling I got stuff to deal with my life.
- 45:02Speaker 1: I'm telling yeah, that's just the type of person she was.
- 45:06Speaker 1: So it just to hear those things pis as you are.
- 45:11Speaker 1: You know, I think it pisses me off more than you.
- 45:16Speaker 1: I don't know if it's more than you, but I
- 45:18Speaker 1: know I'm very pissed. Up. I go to Jenia's page
- 45:20Speaker 1: sometimes and I see like little video clips that she
- 45:24Speaker 1: posted on Brihanna, and it's just like like, how did
- 45:28Speaker 1: this happen? You know? How do you how do you
- 45:31Speaker 1: like when you post when you're posting those videos, like
- 45:33Speaker 1: do you just be in the house and just thinking
- 45:35Speaker 1: about things? Or like a lot of times when I
- 45:40Speaker 1: posted this because they're coming up in my memories. Um,
- 45:43Speaker 1: but it's just like it's my friend. Yeah, that's a
- 45:50Speaker 1: big deal because you can have Yeah, but you know,
- 45:56Speaker 1: do you think you're suffering a little bit or do
- 45:58Speaker 1: you think that Jenias stuff her in a little bit
- 46:00Speaker 1: from survivor's remorse, a feeling of like I should have
- 46:04Speaker 1: been there. I don't necessarily think she thinks it should
- 46:10Speaker 1: have been hurt, but I definitely think she thinks, oh
- 46:13Speaker 1: I should have been there, as if something could have
- 46:15Speaker 1: been well, something could have been different. They both could
- 46:18Speaker 1: have been gone had she been there. Um, there's a
- 46:22Speaker 1: number of things that could have been different had she
- 46:24Speaker 1: been there, you know. So I think God put her
- 46:28Speaker 1: exactly where she needed to be, and she needs to
- 46:31Speaker 1: understand that you're struggling with that not being mere. Yeah,
- 46:36Speaker 1: I wish I didn't go to Califora. Yeah, but God
- 46:40Speaker 1: can do things. Do things because you told me when
- 46:45Speaker 1: we first met, you were like, oh, this is my
- 46:47Speaker 1: room and this is where a lot of bullets were,
- 46:49Speaker 1: and I would have been in me Yeah, I would
- 46:52Speaker 1: have m wow. So I think we you know, we're
- 46:56Speaker 1: winding down and I want to ask you, is about Kenny?
- 47:01Speaker 1: I love me something I've seen him as, like, Kenny
- 47:06Speaker 1: is our guys. You know, we asked as my son
- 47:10Speaker 1: and I were talking about this, he was like, y'all,
- 47:12Speaker 1: you know you want us to protect you. You want
- 47:15Speaker 1: us to protect you want us to stand in the gap,
- 47:17Speaker 1: you want us to do these things. He want to
- 47:18Speaker 1: tell about this issue, but in other things. And we
- 47:21Speaker 1: both were saying today as we were preparing that Kenny
- 47:25Speaker 1: did the thing that we asked our men to do,
- 47:30Speaker 1: and yet they're using it to try to frame him
- 47:33Speaker 1: as being the reason why, like Kenny shoot, he didn't
- 47:38Speaker 1: fire a warning shot and did a one in shot
- 47:40Speaker 1: and then they went and got to botch Warren. That
- 47:43Speaker 1: happened first. But that seems like that's just not a
- 47:46Speaker 1: part of the conversation. So how is that relationship? Um?
- 47:51Speaker 1: So I love Kenny I think Kenny did exactly what
- 47:55Speaker 1: he should have done. Um. And I know that there's
- 47:59Speaker 1: a lot of people who say they wouldn't agree, but
- 48:02Speaker 1: they're also the people who've never been put in that situation.
- 48:06Speaker 1: So um, But I think that also Kenny is having
- 48:11Speaker 1: a hard time dealing with how that. You know, he
- 48:14Speaker 1: thinks it's what if I wasn't there that night, Maybe
- 48:17Speaker 1: I shouldn't have been there and this could have played
- 48:19Speaker 1: out different. But for me, I think it's if he
- 48:24Speaker 1: wasn't there, who knows what they would have done to her?
- 48:28Speaker 1: And he's the only person who can tell us any
- 48:30Speaker 1: type of anything from that night because the police still
- 48:34Speaker 1: hasn't done that, right, So he's the one. He's where
- 48:38Speaker 1: you're getting the details about Brianna's last moment. Absolutely, that's
- 48:44Speaker 1: just you know, and he's such a good guy, you know,
- 48:48Speaker 1: he ain't love Brianna so much and now takes care
- 48:51Speaker 1: of Jnia. I think they take care of each other
- 48:59Speaker 1: real brother says Yeah. I mean, I wonder one day
- 49:02Speaker 1: we will get to ask Kenny, you know, does he
- 49:05Speaker 1: feel is there any guilt in his heart? You know
- 49:08Speaker 1: that maybe, like you said, maybe I just shouldn't have
- 49:11Speaker 1: been home. You know, we're there with her that night.
- 49:13Speaker 1: But I know we're proud. We're proud of the fact
- 49:16Speaker 1: that he tried. He tried to protect his home, he
- 49:19Speaker 1: tried to protect his woman, and what he did was
- 49:22Speaker 1: not the reason why this happened. It was a part.
- 49:25Speaker 1: They caused all of it, and he was a pleader.
- 49:28Speaker 1: He had a role in what what took place. So
- 49:32Speaker 1: I don't know. You know, the last thing we want
- 49:34Speaker 1: to talk about, which we already kind of touched on,
- 49:37Speaker 1: is the online trolls, because I've had to call you
- 49:40Speaker 1: and say to me, good, you cannot actually say the
- 49:43Speaker 1: things you're thinking on the incidet are you gonna tell Denia?
- 49:52Speaker 1: And you're doing it well because I'm her mother, don't
- 49:55Speaker 1: do what I do. So that's but number two. And
- 50:00Speaker 1: I still have a job as a mother to to
- 50:02Speaker 1: to protect my kids. And I thought, she's not hearing.
- 50:06Speaker 1: I'm still going to protect her. I'm going to protect you.
- 50:08Speaker 1: She was are naming and what she could have been.
- 50:11Speaker 1: So yeah, sometimes I get caught up in those moments,
- 50:15Speaker 1: but I don't think there'll be There'll be plenty of
- 50:18Speaker 1: days I'll still get caught up because I'll never stop,
- 50:23Speaker 1: especially the week of the settlement announcement. That was a
- 50:26Speaker 1: tough week because people were just saying the most ignorant
- 50:29Speaker 1: stuff ever. We're gonna talk with your attorneys about that, um,
- 50:33Speaker 1: But you know, one of the things that you did,
- 50:35Speaker 1: and I think this is a note that we can
- 50:38Speaker 1: end on, is that you were very adamant that the
- 50:42Speaker 1: settlement agreement would not just be a settlement for money,
- 50:46Speaker 1: but that they will also be reforms included in that
- 50:50Speaker 1: settlement process. And I want to say that I'm really
- 50:53Speaker 1: proud that that's something that you focused on. And it
- 50:56Speaker 1: also taught your family, your entire family, and the community
- 51:01Speaker 1: in Louisville and across the country what it looks like
- 51:04Speaker 1: to stand up not just for your own child, but
- 51:06Speaker 1: for other people's children. And certainly it also means a
- 51:09Speaker 1: lot for me in my own family. And I just
- 51:12Speaker 1: I want to I want to know what was the
- 51:14Speaker 1: mindset going into it, and how do you feel about
- 51:17Speaker 1: it now? You feel like you did exactly the right thing? Uh? Yeah,
- 51:22Speaker 1: I definitely still felt like I did the right thing.
- 51:24Speaker 1: And first the mindset, Hey, I felt I had a
- 51:27Speaker 1: lot of those things been in place that wouldn't have
- 51:29Speaker 1: happened to Brihanna, but I have to make sure that
- 51:32Speaker 1: Jennia doesn't become a Brianna. So that's that was it
- 51:38Speaker 1: for me. Yeah, so for me, right because because people
- 51:41Speaker 1: just saw it right, and I just hate having me
- 51:45Speaker 1: just saying this. The civil settlement had nothing to do
- 51:51Speaker 1: with the criminal case. Absolutely, there was no. You did
- 51:56Speaker 1: not settle and say you have a gag order two
- 51:58Speaker 1: where you cannot talk about this case and justice. The
- 52:03Speaker 1: only people who think that are Facebook lawyers, lawyers. I mean,
- 52:07Speaker 1: it's the worst thing. I go on Facebook and the like.
- 52:10Speaker 1: She took the money, so she knew what she was
- 52:12Speaker 1: gonna do this. They paid her all from like what
- 52:14Speaker 1: are you? Where did you get where did you get this? Inbody?
- 52:18Speaker 1: Pay you for your child's life? I mean, what's the
- 52:20Speaker 1: price tag for that? Yeah? Yeah, no, you know and
- 52:25Speaker 1: and and we do get caught up in the comments,
- 52:27Speaker 1: which I suggest if you don't talk to trolls, especially
- 52:31Speaker 1: as Teslin for Good our Girls says, don't talk to
- 52:34Speaker 1: people who have they not even give you their first
- 52:36Speaker 1: and last name, even know who they are. You said, up,
- 52:39Speaker 1: they're arguing back and forth with nobody in the air,
- 52:42Speaker 1: making yourself Russians going out. I know, I know, because
- 52:49Speaker 1: you want to give him your address. That's right about.
- 52:58Speaker 1: But you know, the issue you around the settlement piece
- 53:01Speaker 1: for me was I've seen people get charges for the
- 53:06Speaker 1: cops and zero dollars or one million dollars or you know,
- 53:10Speaker 1: a very small settlement. I've seen people get settlements no justice.
- 53:14Speaker 1: I've seen so many different scenarios, a little charges that
- 53:18Speaker 1: are very light and a little bit of money. And
- 53:20Speaker 1: so this idea that there's one model or one thing
- 53:25Speaker 1: we're trying to create that as we go along. We're
- 53:28Speaker 1: trying to as you guys did, push the envelope receiving
- 53:31Speaker 1: the largest settlement that anyone has received a black woman.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Now we know that Corin Gains, which is another black
- 53:38Speaker 1: woman who was killed by police in Maryland, that she
- 53:42Speaker 1: her family has a settlement that is larger, but that
- 53:44Speaker 1: settlement has been stopped in his tracks by the courts.
- 53:47Speaker 1: So we're talking about received in terms of I ain't
- 53:50Speaker 1: in your pocket and in your business, but the paperwork
- 53:53Speaker 1: is signed and the people are gonna get it done.
- 53:55Speaker 1: And her situation, we don't know what's gonna happen. So
- 53:58Speaker 1: today this settlement that you lall hack is the most
- 54:01Speaker 1: historic for a black woman killed by police across this country.
- 54:06Speaker 1: And you included reforms, policy changes that are specific to
- 54:16Speaker 1: what happened here in the Brianna Taylor Cats and some
- 54:19Speaker 1: other things that community members wanted you to include. That's powerful.
- 54:25Speaker 1: It's the it's the reform from me, and that's why
- 54:30Speaker 1: you are going to be the leader up until freedom.
- 54:37Speaker 1: We need organized as we need people who want to
- 54:40Speaker 1: take on that role. One right now. Listen, you've been
- 54:44Speaker 1: pushed into leadership. You've been pushed into this role, and
- 54:47Speaker 1: I just want to tell you that you wear it
- 54:49Speaker 1: with grace. You were with honor, with class. Since I've
- 54:53Speaker 1: met you, you have been a classy woman. You have
- 54:56Speaker 1: wanted to say the worst things and you're taking it.
- 55:00Speaker 1: You know when you speak, and you always speak powerful
- 55:03Speaker 1: and you always and I know that Brianna is looking
- 55:06Speaker 1: at both of you, and she's a legend and you
- 55:10Speaker 1: made her a legend. You you've made your daughter a
- 55:13Speaker 1: legend because the way that you continue this work, the
- 55:16Speaker 1: way that you stand in this gap, the way that
- 55:18Speaker 1: you stand up and you stand with your show this straight,
- 55:22Speaker 1: your head high, and you represent her, don't matter what
- 55:26Speaker 1: they throw at you. It's just phenomenal. So I just
- 55:28Speaker 1: want to say thank you, leg Sure, thank you all
- 55:31Speaker 1: so much for doing this with us today. Thank you,
- 55:34Speaker 1: thank you, thank you for having us and we love y'all. Right,
- 55:53Speaker 1: that's welcome back to street Politicians. This is part two
- 55:57Speaker 1: of our series on Brianna Taylor. So we've been joined
- 56:01Speaker 1: today by two people who I just love to talk
- 56:05Speaker 1: to and hear from. Until freedom has been guided in
- 56:11Speaker 1: how we operate around the true details of the Brianna
- 56:16Speaker 1: Taylor matter, because Brianna Taylor doesn't have a case. To
- 56:19Speaker 1: be clear, she never had a case in her life,
- 56:22Speaker 1: so she does not have a case. She is not
- 56:24Speaker 1: on trial. But in the Brianna Taylor matter, the matter
- 56:27Speaker 1: of her being killed, we've had to turn to these
- 56:30Speaker 1: incredible attorneys and there's one missing, which is Attorney Benjamin
- 56:35Speaker 1: crump Uh to get real true facts because this Kentucky.
- 56:40Speaker 1: First of all, Limita, your hometown, UM and Lorsville specifically,
- 56:49Speaker 1: things travel fast around here. People get messaging and things
- 56:55Speaker 1: and whatever mixed up telephone game down here, and so
- 57:01Speaker 1: there's all kinds of information that's out there that is
- 57:04Speaker 1: not accurate. So we've been guided by truth and facts
- 57:08Speaker 1: by turning to Attorney Sam Agyar and Attorney Nita Baker,
- 57:13Speaker 1: and of course our brother who is not with us,
- 57:15Speaker 1: Attorney Benjamin Crump. So that well, we're out here speaking,
- 57:19Speaker 1: that we're telling the truth. And even in two instances
- 57:22Speaker 1: where people want to be um, you know, sometimes folks
- 57:26Speaker 1: want to they want to they want pity, so they say, oh,
- 57:28Speaker 1: she was sleeping in her bed when she was shot,
- 57:31Speaker 1: and y'all have said, no, that is not true. She
- 57:35Speaker 1: wasn't sleeping. She was sleeping before the police knocked, and
- 57:39Speaker 1: she heard a knock and she got up. So you
- 57:42Speaker 1: guys have not tried to put out details that would
- 57:45Speaker 1: just lend itself to your position, but just the facts.
- 57:50Speaker 1: Don't need to embellish your story that's already so tragic,
- 57:54Speaker 1: like we didn't need to embellish it right now, right,
- 57:57Speaker 1: So first of all, how are you guys doing post
- 58:02Speaker 1: Daniel Cameron coming back? Which we we we we talked
- 58:08Speaker 1: a lot in our segment with Jenia and Tomika Palmer
- 58:14Speaker 1: about that phone call that you made, saying to the
- 58:17Speaker 1: Attorney General's office to say, do not make this young
- 58:21Speaker 1: this lady drive this mother drive a distance to hear
- 58:27Speaker 1: something that we know it's not justice, true justice for
- 58:30Speaker 1: Brianna Taylor. And it happened anyway. Daniel Cameron's office allowed
- 58:34Speaker 1: you all to be there in frankfort forty minutes to
- 58:38Speaker 1: an hour away from UM from where you all live
- 58:41Speaker 1: in Louisville, and I just want to know, like, you know,
- 58:45Speaker 1: how do you feel. What's the human side of hearing
- 58:49Speaker 1: that there was not only no charges related to Brianna Taylor,
- 58:53Speaker 1: but that the only charges UM that have been that
- 58:55Speaker 1: there was an indictment for was bullets that went into
- 58:58Speaker 1: a wall. No, we should hear from you first then,
- 59:01Speaker 1: because you always want to tell Anita, you always us.
- 59:05Speaker 1: We appreciate it, but we want to hear from so
- 59:08Speaker 1: Lenita's got a great voice, and unfortun I've been through
- 59:13Speaker 1: this before. So you know, last police shooting case that
- 59:16Speaker 1: I had, UM vowed never to have to see a
- 59:20Speaker 1: family go through that again, to have to go all
- 59:23Speaker 1: the way down to meet with you know, a district
- 59:25Speaker 1: attorney what you call down here. I think you mentioned
- 59:27Speaker 1: before we got weird names down here. But but to
- 59:30Speaker 1: go meet with the d A and just have them,
- 59:32Speaker 1: you know, looking in the eye and say, you know,
- 59:35Speaker 1: there's no justice coming here. And do it nonchalantly. So
- 59:39Speaker 1: we didn't want that to happen. Um for to mek
- 59:41Speaker 1: A Palmer, I mean, God bless that family. They're incredible,
- 59:44Speaker 1: And to go all the way down to Frankfort to
- 59:47Speaker 1: get that news, to find out that we actually got
- 59:49Speaker 1: the news after the rest of the country got the news,
- 59:51Speaker 1: because because by the time that we were actually in
- 59:53Speaker 1: that conference room and you know, they were putting on
- 59:56Speaker 1: their little show to try to show this foe sympathy
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: for and everything, you know, it was after the rest
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: of the country already heard everything. And since then it's
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: gotten so much worse because now you you know, you
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: start to learn what was going on in that grand
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: jury room. I mean, just imagine U twelve people today,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: the mayor says, hey, I'm gonna put you in a room. Um,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: we got James over here, we got Jessica over here,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: and we're gonna spend three days going with you. And
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: then at the end you gotta tell us which one
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: needs to be our next police chief. And you go
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: through and you learn all about James, you learn all
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: about Jessica, and you're already starting to feel like the
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: people the mayor's offices really wants you to pick James,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: but you keep asking all these questions and you keep
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: learning things. Then on the last day, just imagine ten
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: out of twelve of your are ready to make Jessica
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: your next police chief, and the mayor walks in and says, hey, um,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: time to vote. But you can only pick James. And
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: if you don't want James, then you can just leave
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: here right now, but you can't pick Jessica. So tim
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: if you want to pick Jessica but you can't, and
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: then you watch the mayor get on TV later and say,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: you know, the grand jury decided and we agree that
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: James should be our next police chief. Just imagine if
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: you're that grand jury sitting at home, and then imagine
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: if all of a sudden you see that that mayor
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: had actually endorsed James previously, and that James had contributed
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: to his campaign. That's what we're dealing with right now.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: It's a grand jury that just feels like they have
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: been betrayed, in a country that feels like they've been betrayed,
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: in a family that feels like they've been betrayed, and
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: it's been awful. I think for me just listening to that,
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: the whole grand jeury process and the self is dangerous.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: You know when they make this statement about you can
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: indict a ham sand which is based on that reality.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: You know, it's based on the reality if you show
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: them something to say this is the only thing you
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: can do, then what else do you have? The thing
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: that that I do want to point out here though,
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: is and listen to those grand jury tapes, this was
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: a damn good grand jury. They were asking to write questions,
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: they were involved, engaged, but it's the prosecutors that were
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: involved that tarnish the whole process. Explain that to us,
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: what does that sound like? Yeah, that sounds like the
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: prosecutors involved, uh in presenting the case to the grand jury,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: they knew going in on Monday morning when that grand
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: when they started presenting evidence that at the end of
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: the day all they were gonna the only charges that
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: they were going to present were they want endangement charges
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: against Brett Hankinson. So they put on the show of
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: where you know, it's going to take us three days
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: of presenting n evidence, grand jurors asking questions only for
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: not the witnesses to answer the questions, but for those
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: prosecutors to answer questions for the grand jury was to say, hey,
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: we want to see all the body camera footage before
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: the prosecutors say, oh, we don't have time for that.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: And in most states, in in Kentucky, the case is
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: that the prosecutors are supposed to be advisors to the
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: grand jury. So if the grand jury wanted to see
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: all of the video, prosecutors supposed to make even if
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: it took the whole week, they're supposed to make time
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: and let that grand jury see all of the video. Um.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: I have no doubt in my mind that if the
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: grand jury had been presented with charges against all of
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: the officers and homicide charges on behalf of Brianna, that
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: there would have been indictment and indictment for all of them.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: And you think so, I think so. Um. But not
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: only that, I think that these grand jurors were deprived.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: If you know, we're here from us, Daniel Cameron, I
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: want to turn over every rock and get to the truth.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: I think they were deprived of truths, you know. I mean,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: we've got good evidence capabilities these days, you know. Unfortunately
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: for people if they don't realize that everything that you
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: put on your cell phone, it's there. This grand jury
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: got no cell phone forensics. Brent Hankinson had a hundred
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: and twenty phone calls and text messages within the six
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: hours after this shooting. And this grand jury never even
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: heard that this crime scene was tampered with so badly.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: And I think this grand jury picked up on that
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: because you had evidence. I mean, what makes you think
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: the grand jury picked up on it. It It was what
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: you heard. And then they were asking questions. You know,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: at one point you have a grand jury asked, Hey,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: that bullet that was in there, I didn't see that earlier.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: Where did that come from? You know? And ask him
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: where's the blood that this was a femoral artery shot
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: in the house, where's the blood at? So straight got
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: break a street levels. So if you shot in your artery,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: your femeral artery, which is in your thigh that area,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: there's gonna be a lot of blood, almost like when
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: you watched scary movies and the blood's just squirting out.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: There's gonna be a lot of blood from one of those.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: There's no blood on the inside. The only blood inside
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: of Brianna's apartment is from Brianna. There's none on the
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: outside of the immediate outside of the door. You don't
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: get blood until you get to the parking lot. Oh
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: you wanna yeah, you wanna go street politics. You know,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: let's let's let's put it this way. If Kenny Walker just,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: you know, without a doubt, shot John Mattingly, where the
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: hell's the blood? Why does that bullet enter in the
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: middle of his thigh and enterrupt you know, much higher?
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: And how come it's a full metal jacket bullet that
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: they're saying that shot John Mattingly When Kenny Walker's gun
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: clear as day is shooting holoquints. And who puts a
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: while what man puts a wallet in their front pocket?
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: So you know, there's so many things that this grand
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: jury did not hear yet they were still ready to indict.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: And when you're Daniel Cameron and you're a prosecutor, just
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: like Lenny has said, you were there to assist them.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: But if this grand jury at the end of the
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: day says we want you to draft indictments, we want
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: you to you know, educate us on what charges we
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: can pursue. A prosecutor can't just sit there and dodge
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: it and say, well, you know, all you got is
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: three counts of wanton endangement when you've got a body
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: of twelve people, ten of whom I believe wanted to
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: indict every single these offers, one of these officers four
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: felonies and for more than just that. Um. So there's
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: a lot of explaining to do right now. But you know,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: mysign to make the biggest problem we have right now
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: is that because Daniel camer decided to step in as
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: the top prosecutor in the state, to get recourse here
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: is difficult. It's not impossible. We don't have double jeopardy.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: So so again talking to everybody, always hear about double jeopardy,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: that doesn't apply here. There were no indictment, you know,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: there was not a no true bill and never went
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: to a jury. So for me, so basically he just
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: circumvented the whole process. He made the jury that she
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: they didn't even deserve that, you know, they they in
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: court that the jury didn't even need to hear anything
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: because in his mind, they weren't guilty of anything. Right,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: And the disappointing thing is that he put on this
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: show as if he did as if he did, as
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: if the grand jury made these decisions along with his offices,
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: as they as if they were on board. Um from
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: May until September, he made this whole show about, oh,
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: I'm doing my independent investigation. But when you listen to
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: the grand jury recordings, a large percentage of it are
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: the same interviews that the Global Metro Police Departments Public
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Integrative Unit conducted until you didn't do anything. It's worse
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: than that. I mean, you know, you got one officer
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: interview that he gave the morning of the shooting, and
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: he's talking about how Kenny Walker shot fifteen times, there's
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: bullets going out everywhere, and how he saw Bret Hankinson
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: walk up to the front door and shoot in there,
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: and he says at three different times. Well, the Attorney
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: General's Office doesn't want the grand jury to hear all
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: that because it doesn't fit their narrative. So they re
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: interviewed this guy six months later, and they only play
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: that interview for the grand jury. They do not play
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: the interview, you know, from right after the facts. And
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: it's just none of these officers turn in a full
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: load out and so so you know, when they're counting
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: their rounds, none of these officers I seen have the
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: amount of bullets are supposed to have all these bullets
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: that are in this place. They only recovered half of
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: the mill and p D did and they couldn't match
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: some of them to any of these guns. And you've
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: got so many other things going on, but it seems
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: pretty damn obvious that Daniel Cameron made a political decision
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: very early on that my allegiance and loyalty to this
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: FOP to make it, just like you're talking about Trump's
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: punning tended any justice that this woman in this family deserves.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: And all that grand jury got to hear was twenty
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: hours worth of whatever they knew would be enough to
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: basically tell all of us, Hey, they heard a full case.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: And he just thought because of the grand jury secrecy
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: that he'd be able to get out of there and say, listen,
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: you know we put on twenty hours worth of testimony
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: and evidence and witnesses. I'm sorry, but this grand jury
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: decided not to indict. Thank you. Not to indict to
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: me is a lie? A lie? Right? It can't. You
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: can't say someone decided not to do something that they
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: would never it was never an option to do in
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: the first place. And but I want to ask you so,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: is then because everybody's like what can we do? Right,
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: So we want to talk about that, but before there
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: is the issue of the one person who is the
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: witness that said he did hear an announcement of police
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: being on the other side of the door. And this
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: is important because what we're talking about. Folks have this
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: idea that no knock warrants means there's no not That's
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: not what a no knock warrant is. It can be.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: It could mean that they just show up, they don't knock,
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: and they just break the door down and do what
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: they have to do. But no knock has other elements,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: meaning that they don't have to announce who's on the
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: other side of the door. Right, They have the right
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: to enter without you understanding who is actually at your door,
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: right right. Okay, So when we say that they did
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: not that they use a no knock warrant, what we're saying,
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: or what I understand to be clear, is that they
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: did not, which is what woke uh excuse me Kenny
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: and Brianna up out of their sleep and other people
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: because other people are saying they heard some banging. But
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: when Kenny and Brianna approached she I think I heard
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: him say kept saying who is it? Who is it?
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: Who is because we clear this is Brianna's apartment, right,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: So Kenny is there with her as her boyfriend who's
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: there with her? But she's basically hello, hello at my house?
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: Who the heck is at the door and there's no
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: response from the other side based upon what Kenny said.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: And however, how many other three witnesses? So I said
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: twelve somewhere that they I gotta getting stuff there. I've
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: so twenty three other people. So they didn't hear anything,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: but they have produced for the grand jury one person
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: who y'all tell us about this, this person, but one
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: person whose story is is different. His story is different.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: And that was the only witness I'm just making sure
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: that was presented to the grand jury. Asked to whether
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: or not the police announced themselves. Kind of okay, So,
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: so what was bad about this is when Daniel Cameron
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: got up in Grand Standard and said these officers knocked
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: and announced. He made a very good point. Under a
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: law United States Supreme Court law, a no knock warrant
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: means that you can just beat the door down and
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: go right in. A knock and announced situation means you
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: have to knock and announce. You can't just knock and
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: beat down the damn door. You have to announce. This
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: warrant had been converted to a knock and announced warrant,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: so they were required by law. It was done that day,
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: and it was done that day because had it been
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: a no knock they would have had to score it
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: differently and the swap team would have had to have
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: been present. They wanted to hit that house for who
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: knows what reason, but they converted it to a knock
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: and announce. So where it's really important to me is
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: if they did not announce, they did not comply with
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: the warrant as it had been converted. To slow it
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: all the way down, because you know, I'm, i'm, I'm
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: to do with little things. I need to understand you.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Basically what you're saying is the no knock warrant has
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: a different criteria. The no knock warrant means that you
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: could just not You don't have to say anything, You
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: just bust the door down and run in. It's more dangerous, definitely,
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: with the knock and announce means that you have to
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: knock and say it's us, the police before you enter
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: into them it's more than that. You have to give
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: them at least a reasonable amount of time to comply.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: So it's not like you can just start banging that
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: door saying you know, with that ram saying police search warrant. No,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: you're not giving them time. So yeah, because I see,
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: this is a new detail every day, just by the
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: way this case, every day a new detail comes out.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: I was under the impression that they were only then
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: I did here's something about a conversion. I was like,
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: I just can't, I can't. My brain just can't take anymore.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: So you're telling me that at first they had a
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: no knock all. They applied for a no knock correct
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: that was approved, that was approved, and then something happens
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: internally they converted it from a no knock warrant to
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: it not gonna announce because they were like, in order
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: for us to do this no knock thing, we gotta
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: be able to send all these other guys we got
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: to do. We don't have to. We can't do that.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: So that's why one of the worms that that we
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: negotiated during the settlement was that if you're gonna ask
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: for a no knock warrant or what no knock warrants
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: are being in Louisville. So but when you send in
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: that warrant after day or the warrn after davit and
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: the SWAP matrix, so that's a SWAT matrix is a
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: form that officers have to fill out when they're going
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: to execute a search warrant. You get a certain score,
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: you have to use SWADE or how in a middle
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: score you have to consult with SWAT to see us
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: what's going to and then if it's a lower score,
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: you don't have to consult SWAT at all. So that's
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: all the matrix is. Because they changed then from a
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: no knock to not going announce allegedly after getting the
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: no knock warrant approved. A lot of people SWAT was
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: under the impression that there was not going to be
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: a warrant executed at Brianna's house. But what we wanted
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: to do is you can't change once you applied for
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: if you're supposed to have SWAT. And the reason we
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: say swats because they they're accustomed to execute these types
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: of warrants. They're typically they do it in a in
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: a safer manner than officers not trained them to SWAP
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: and so that's why. So now you have to get
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: to feel out that you have to get that SAT
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: matrix approved by a commanding officer before you even go
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: to a judge. So you can't just go call the
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: judge in the middle of the night or whatever. You know,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: that's how we say, you call the judge in the
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: middle of the night and say hey, I got a
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: warrant and bringing them back and you sign all of
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: these Okay, you know, it's very administrative, uh, in terms
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: of what we think the process is right now. And
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: we've had judges to say that if you're not careful,
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: you find yourself signing warrants like you're pushing paper and
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: not really doing the work to understand what I'm signing
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: here and how people's lives could be put into danger
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: you know because of it. So now I just going
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: back because I want to make sure what we're saying
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: is that once this warrant was conversed. So first of all,
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: even if it had just been a no knock warrant,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: the premise that they used to apply for it for
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: the AFFI David application whatever was always false because they
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: were using the fact that there were suspicious packages going
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: to Brianna's home and um and and that that made
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: her house the track house, right, So that was always
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: false with the post office, that no, no, no, And
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: I thought the post Office said no once exactly, they
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: said no four times and said it in a way
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: that was the last time, as far as I can see,
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: was like, don't ask us again, because we're not getting
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: involved with whatever it is you're trying to do. No
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: no suspicious packages. Right, So that even if it was
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: no knock, that was already botched that whole piece. Now
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: we turned around and find out what I'm learning right
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: here is that it got converted because at some point
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: internally they were like no, swat, no this, no that, okay,
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: let's just do a knock and annax. So they went
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: there and still twenty three people say they heard no
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: one ounce Smith, including Kenny, who says he's I don't
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: hear anything, and he calls the police on the police
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: the Native and Sam once that you're good, you said,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: like you got the case, and well calls the polly
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: do you have it at? So hello and you don't
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: even say the police are here, saying you don't even
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: say the police are here. We don't know why we're here, Kenny,
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: He doesn't say, well, I think there's cops outside my door. Okay,
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: so that's the bottom line. Okay, Well, you know some
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: people you gotta get because they get. So now let's
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: talk about the one guy. Tell me about so the
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: one guy. So you got Daniel Cameron getting up here
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: saying these cops nothing announced. We've got this magic witness
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: you know, says you know he was close proximity whatever
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: he lived, he's twenty three, lived just as close. So
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: you got this one guy who doesn't speak very good English,
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: who is called March twenty and on this phone call,
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: which is recorded, you know you got the LMPD internal affairs.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: I try to use the words that everybody will know.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: You know, we got these fancy terms like but internal
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: affairs calls him, basically says you know, hey, did you
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: you know what was going on? What's your story? First
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: of all, poor guy stories, all messed up. He says it.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: SWAT's already out there by the time he gets outside.
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: SWAT's not out there until fifteen twenty minutes after Brown
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: is killed. But then they asked him point blank, did
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: you hear any announcing? No, there was no announcing, you know,
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: and then they reach out to him again, Hey, did
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: you hear any announcing? No, there was no announcing. And
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: then three months later they reach out to him again,
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: and who knows what happened and who knows how they,
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: you know, coordinated it. But at that point he says
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: he heard some announcing. We know from body cameras that afterwards,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: this guy, you know, he's there because he works late.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: His two year old daughters babysat there. He picks her up,
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: puts her in his arms, and leaves, and we hear
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: him on SWAT body camera, you know, basically saying I
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: want to go home? Can I go home? And we're
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: not even convinced that he went out into the hallway beforehand,
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: because all of his story relates to after SWAT is
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: already unseen. He's saying, all the officers had uniforms, and
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: we saw the big SWAT vehicle out there. So this
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: magic witness, So basically, you're telling me that the magic
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: witness on two prior occasions said that he didn't hear
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: any of it here announce, and then the third time, monthsly,
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: the magically he remembers that he did correct. And this
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: is the witness that they had too to um corroborate
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: this story that they did not get announce. Now, just
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: to throw something in though the grand jury did hear
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: from all of the not all of them, but several
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: other witnesses they out to hear interviews. All of them
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: told the grand jury through interviews point blank, nah, there
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: was no you know, there was no announcing. And this
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: grand jury was a great grand jury. There is no
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: way this grand jury was ever going to deduce that
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: there was These officers were announcing. But the problem is
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: they didn't have any charges to and they weren't educated
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: on self defense law or the concept of initial aggressor
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: or the conversion to not you know, to knock and
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: announce warrant. So Daniel Cameron's trying to make it sound
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: like this isn't a big deal. This is a very
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: big deal. And yeah, and we know they weren't educated
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: on self defense law because Daniel Cameron himself doesn't know
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: the self defense because the things he said, because of
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: things he said exactly, so could we we've heard, well,
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: we heard that there were supposedly to other jurors. One
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: juror has already got a lawyer that wants to speak
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: up about you like you with the phone calls in Kentucky,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: because I don'tly know about once did there's another one.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: I'm talking. Well, I'm just saying, I'm just doing my research.
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: I'm checked. You know, you know that this another came
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: forward so Wednesday, you know so, so I guess court
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: here he's are going to decide, hopefully whether or not
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: these Grand jurors are basically given immunity and protection to
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: come out and speak their mind. And frankly, Daniel Cameron
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: opened that door when he tried to put all this
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: on them. They absolutely, in my opinion, have the rights
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: come out and basically set the records straight. As soon
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: as that man decided to get up there and basically
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: put it on them, they have the absolute right to say,
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: how dare you? You never gave us the opportunity. It's
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: gonna be interesting to see if Daniel Cameron takes back
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: his word from last week, which wouldn't surprise me. Last
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: week he basically said we're not going to stop these
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: Grand jurors if they want to talk, basically gave them
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: immunity himself. But we'll find out about Wednesday if he's
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: gonna hold true to his word, or if we're gonna
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: get some sort of response that says, no, wait a minute,
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: we don't want him needed more time to get the
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: transcripts ready to put out, which you know, like you said,
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: I saw on your Facebook post it was like, we
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: want it done now. But you can understand why the
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: judge would allow him to have additional time. And I
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: think he asked for a week knowing that he would
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: only get a few days. But if he had asked
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: for a day, then you know it wouldn't have necessarily
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: worked out as it did. I called him a coward. I'm,
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: you know, just gonna put it out there, and I'll
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: tell you why. Wicked too. I called him, well, it
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: was wicked to have to make upon major there. I
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: called him a coward because he didn't tell her. He
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: didn't have the gust of the charges. Weren't we're not
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: related to Brianna. He is a coward because he didn't
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: have the nerve to get up there and tell the
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: country we cleared these officers internally, and we didn't get
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: the grand jury and opportunity to actually even deliberate on them,
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: because you know what, as prosecutors we have the discretion
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: to clear officers and know potential defendants internally, and we
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: chose to do that. He tried to put it on
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: the grand jury. That's no, we don't want to know.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: Let's take I want to know that this is politicians.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: He's like to me, he's like to meet the PAM.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: But you got to call him all the time as
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: they take that down, take that down, and we're getting
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: a wrap. I can't. I'm gonna help you call him that.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: So can we talk about what's next because we're going
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: to wrap it up. But people want to know, you
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: said at the court here, we want to know this hope, right,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: We want to know this hope son. We want to
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: know that there's some hope. Okay. So we've been scouring
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: through case law and speaking with former attorney generals and
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: all of this, and there's some hope. But we need help, Okay.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: So in Kentucky we got Kentucky Prosecutor's Advisory Council. There
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: was a judge of wrote an opinion once who say
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: a point blank and agreed victim like it to make
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: a palmer in the situation if she feels like a
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: prosecutor was unwilling or you know, incapable of presenting charges
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: that you can actually go to this body and this
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: body can rule on it, and if they agree, they
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: have the discretion to a point an independent special prosecutor.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: It sounds like what we need, right, Daniel Cameron's ahead
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: of that Prosecutor's advisory Council. Oh, come on, all right.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: So so obviously we need to recusal. We need to
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: really put pressure on these prosecutors to show that the
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: courage to do the right thing definitely takes precedence and
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: is more important than trying to appease the head prosecutor
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: in the state. It's about looking for potential prosecutors across
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: the state that may be willing to actually say, hey,
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: if this is a resource thing, I'd be willing to
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: look into this, I'd be willing to take this on.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: So it's about identifying some people that maybe have the
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: courage to say listen and you know, yeah, let me
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: do it. I'll take it on um. And it's about
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: putting pressure on Daniel Cameron to say, listen, you know
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: you don't think I did my job, fine, I'll appointed
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: special prosecutor. That's a last resort if you ask me though,
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: because then he gets to pick who he sends it to.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: And we've already seen how this political propaganda and system works.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: Do you really think he's going to send it to,
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: you know, a Democratic prosecutor that really has the courage
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: or Republican prosecutor. That wasn't fair for me to say
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: that the prosecutor that's gonna have the courage to really
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: present to a grand jury. That's all we're asking for
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: present and actually just giving the opportunity to die, and
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: they do or they don't. And they do or they don't.
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: And it would have to be a new brand jury. Yeah.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: Our grand juries are set each month, so it would
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: definitely be a one a new grand jury. And we
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: got the federal investigation. Let's not forget about that. I know,
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: but but we want justice. Also want and that's a
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Midnight at the Dark Street politicians conversation. They want to know, like,
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: what do we do to make Daniel cam And pay
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: for what he did in this situation? He didn't do
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: his job, He wasn't professional. Um, you know, you guys
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: have been saying that you feel like he was incompetent
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: in many ways. I say that it was not incompetence
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: to me, because I think there were other people there
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: who knew what to do and that and that they
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: made a decision. That is just. I mean, he thinks
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: he can talk to us like we're stupid, and that
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: to me makes me feel so disrespectful. So I guess
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: elections have consequences, and the conversation that we've got to
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: have as a community to bunker down and say, how
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: do we ensure that if he ever runs for office,
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: not just here, but anywhere that he would like to go,
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: that we've put a stop on his tracks or in
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: his tracks immediately, because he does not deserve to ever
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: and to have this type of position, to have a
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: position where this is a this is not uh that
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: he's you know, not just I don't want to say just.
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: He's not the city council member, which is an important
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: position as well. This is the attorney general prosecutor if
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: you will, in the state. And we have no faith.
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: This community has been broken and and broken by Brianna's murder,
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: but beyond that, broken by an injust system that continuously
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: perpetuates violence against our communities. And so we want to
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: say thank you, thank you, thank you for what you
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: all are doing. This wasn't enough. Thank you for everything.
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: Until freedom is do We have been such a blessing.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: We don't want we gotta go home at some point,
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: but we this wasn't enough. We got to have these
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: conversations because what we're gonna do is put this out
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: and we're going to allow people to send us some
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: questions of things that they want to know so we
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: can come back and talk specifically to the audience about
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: things that they're trying to figure out. Hey, you never know,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: there may be some new prosecutors that are being groomed
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: just because of Brianna Taylor. Yeah, we just want to
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: We want to highlight because people don't know what to do.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: We don't know what the next stage is. So listening
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: to you and you're telling us what it is. Whatever
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: we can do with our platform to help that process,
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: to educate people, to people in Louisville and let some
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: of these prosecutors know we want them to step up,
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: you know, and hold these people accountable. That's what we
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: want to do. So thank you, thank you so much.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: Thankank you both so much, and everybody until freedom, Thank
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: you alute, Attorney Lanita Baser and attorney Sam Agyar have
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: been with us today talking about Brianna Taylor. This is
