- Chris Laker: I ate Ethiopian food last night. I know it was popular in the nineties. It's still good. Just because something used to be popular, particularly food. Fakasha bread. That was popular in the nineties. did it all of a sudden stop being Fakasha bread? The same thing that made people love it in nineteen ninety-eight, somehow not good now? Of course it is. Portobello mushrooms. Nobody even knew they existed before the late nineties. I don't know if they were new. Somebody bred them, the big mushroom. People are like, these mushrooms are huge. I didn't know this was possible. they taste so good. And they're still good, not a big deal anymore. We're used to them. We take them for granted. you see a regular mushroom like, this is like a mini portobello. Ethiopian food's still good. You eat with your hands, which I appreciate. When I go out to eat sushi, why can't I just pick this up? I wish I was better with chopsticks, I really do. trying to eat rice with chopsticks, I can't. I've tried, I haven't practiced at home, It hasn't been enough of a problem in my life To take that extra time to learn. I should cause I enjoy Japanese culture, what I enjoy most about Japanese culture vending machines. They have so many vending machines They understand food tastes better out of a vending machine. there's something magical about a vending machine. It's always there. It never closes. It never asks any questions, doesn't judge you. It shouldn't, because all that's in there is crap. Hotels used to always have vending machines. Now those are all gone. The only place you can get a good vending machine anymore is a hospital. That's the upside of going to the hospital or really visiting somebody in the hospital. If you're in the hospital, you can't really go to the vending machine. But when you're visiting someone in the hospital, this is awful. I'm visiting somebody who's sick in my life, but I can stop at the vending machine on the way and on the way out. also you want to get out of there for a minute. You can say, you want anything from the vending machine? They got those TGI Friday branded mozzarella sticks. They're not mozzarella sticks. I don't know. They make them out of fried corn somehow. I used to love hotel vending machines. every once in a while you get a soda machine and not a good soda machine, a plastic bottle soda machine. Give me a can. a plastic bottle tastes like shit. I put up a clip talking about why they markup wine so much and not Coca-Cola. the amount of people coming to tell me the actual facts that the markups on sodas actually, I know. If you make your own soda, if you make your own wine, it's cheaper too. I'm talking if I go to seven eleven and buy a soda compared to If you go to a store and buy a bottle of wine. I don't really get soda that much. I'm not paying attention really to the price of soda. I will order a soda without looking at the price. I'll just say bring me a Coke Zero, please. do you want to see the menu first? Do you want to make sure you can make that kind of transaction? No, no, I don't need to. Whatever the price, I will have that Coke Zero. absolutely enjoy all the comments, enjoy the engagement, being told I'm wrong. I said to the twenty eighth. Yesterday's episode went up really late though. So let's say the thirtieth. subscribe to my Substack for free, you comment on that post, I will put you on the list, for when I am performing at the sphere. you get free tickets. Two tickets you get. I also have a list, I still have this list from when I first started this show. People who emailed me to be put on. the guest list to be in the front row for when I perform at Master Square Gardens. And the Masses Square Garden people, I did promise. I know I promised them airfare and hotel. that's on me. Luckily, I'm not performing at Masses Square Garden soon. I'm assuming if I'm performing at Massa Square Garden, headlining Mass and Square Garden, not if I'm opening for somebody at Masses Square Garden, which would also be great. But if I'm headlining Massive Square Garden, I'm making enough dough that I can fly these people in and put them up in a hotel, like a Hampton Inn type of hotel, that level. that's a nice hotel. A Hampton Inn is nice. A Hilton Garden Inn is nice. A New York City Hilton Garden Inn is perfectly acceptable hotel. I've enjoyed a lot of Hilton Garden Inns. I like a courtyard Marriott. The only courtyard Marriott I did not like was Hartford, Connecticut. That one was depressing. It felt like a hospice. I think it was at one point some kind of medical facility. the layout. the lighting was bad and I hated that place. I stayed there for two weeks. for a job I was staying in Hartford, Connecticut. boring fucking town from what I saw. I'm sure if you live there it's fine. But to visit poof that place it is a long time ago. It might be completely different. I don't know. Maybe it's great now. I have no idea what Hartford Connecticut's like now. there was some other stuff going on emotionally that I have tied up in that period in Hartford, Connecticut. I'm bringing emotional baggage to my Hartford, Connecticut opinion. Don't listen to it. Go visit for yourself. Go there on vacation, take the whole family. Where should we go? Should we go to Europe? Chicago, Vancouver, I hear is beautiful. No. We're going to Hartford, Connecticut. See all the sites. the place where the hockey team used to play. Maybe that's still there. I was asking the people that what do you call this place? H Town or something somebody told me they call it the Heartbeat. Pretty good. So go visit the Heartbeat, the Heartbeat of Connecticut, the Hartford, former home of the Hartford Whalers. I was talking about courtyard marriott. That's how I got to Hartford, Connecticut. You know where they have a great courtyard marriot? Denver. That's beautiful courtyard marriot. that was a long time ago when I stayed there, but it was an old building that they had redone I recommend that highly. Unless it's all falling apart since then. I don't know. I enjoyed Denver. It's a good city. I drove to Mount Rushmore, which is not close, but I thought this is as close as I'm going to get to Mount Rushmore. I have a rental car. I am going for it. And I did. I got there. And it was closed. Rushmore was closed, but I was able to see it, which is all I wanted. I didn't care. That saved me some time. took a picture, took a selfie, got back in the car, drove back, got a speeding ticket in Montana. speeding ticket in Montana is about three dollars. You can go as fast as you want to Montana. He did search my car, which couldn't blame him. Because he's like, What are you doing? he sees my New York driver's license cars from Colorado Why are you out here? I I wanted to go see Mount Rushmore. He's like, Can I search your car? I said, I get it. You can. And then he searched my car, gave me that speed and ticket, let me go. I do recommend Denver, Colorado. If you don't go on vacation in Hartford, Connecticut, go to Denver, Colorado. But You gotta see Hartford, Connecticut. Denver, they got you know, it's mountains. It's it's nice, beautiful. But Harford. now that it's the heartbeat. I'm gonna get to the news. Sad. This is a sad day. We got two deaths. Got two R.I.Ps. Eric Bauza, voice of Bugs Bunny and more, dies at 46. He's a voice of a lot of stuff. Looney tunes. This dude, very talented, amazing. He was a great Bugs Bunny. Cardiovascular disease, 46 years old. lot of people say very nice things about him. Very talented guy. Sad. also rest in peace. Walter Koenig's Star Trek actor, he was Chekhov, dies. He was 90 years old and lost his wife a couple of years ago. Also, father in law to comedian and podcast pioneer Jimmy Pardo. rest in peace, Walter Koenig. I love Star Trek. Anthropic files for potentially the biggest IPO ever, even as CEO warns of risk to humanity from AI. They keep telling us they're gonna destroy humanity. And everybody's like, huh? Nah. What do you know, CEO of the AI company? The person in charge of the AI? you're being an alarmist. Here's some more money. how much money do I have to spend a month to keep talking to Claude like it's a person who knows me? I just want to have a friend. Why do you gotta talk to Claude to get your feelings out? Start a podcast. talk into your laptop camera and put it out. these AI CEOs, they understand they're going to destroy humanity. But if not them, somebody else is going to do it and they'll get the money. So they need to get all the money to build the best bunker. they know bunker life is coming no matter what. better have a good one. The IPO will come out, it'll become part of everyone's 401k. everybody's retirement's gonna be connected to this, not mine. I don't have a 401k. I'm smart. Pay me now. I don't trust anything in the future. worry about tomorrow tomorrow, I live in the moment. I got 300 extra bucks, guess who's getting a new pair of sneakers? When it becomes bunker time, I know I don't got a bunker to go to. I'm gonna be bunkerless, which means I will be killed in a mass extinction that's fine. Lula wins fourth term as Brazil's president over Flavio Bolsonaro. that's a big win for Brazil. Congratulations. Hey, sometimes the right wing psychopaths lose. Isn't that great? Go Brazil. and Bolsonaro refuses to concede, says we'll seek annulment of Brazil vote because he loves Trump. And that is what happens with the right wing people. Whenever they lose an election, they say they didn't lose an election. It's impossible. Everybody wants to vote for me. Fuck you. that's what I'm afraid is gonna happen with the midterms. maybe it'll be a wake up call for Trump. Maybe it'll say, people aren't happy with me. That's something I gotta think about. I need to reflect on some of the things I've done see what do the people want then try to adjust. Maybe that'll happen. That could that could happen. What do you mean? It could. It Have you seen a Christmas carol? That could happen. Serbia's Volchik concedes election defeat to student-led protest movement. Another one. This is big. it might be a trend. The right wing shit. People got a little caught up in it for some reason. I don't see the appeal. congratulations to Serbia. They're very excited there. It's like Obama Day for them. They're all out in the streets, having a good time. student led protest. I see some people trying to say that it's not that what's going on in Europe. It's not student led protest. a few hundred thousand people out in the street. Australian judge rejects prisoners' human rights challenge to Vegemite ban. the guy represented himself, said it was cultural discrimination that he couldn't have vegemite, and I don't know why they can't have it. He got to get out of prison for a little bit go to the court. That had to be fun. but he can't have vegemite, which I hear is disgusting. I don't know what's in it. you can't have you can't have it in prison in Australia. You're in prison. That's part of the punishment. You gotta think about what you did. And rehabilitate so you can get back out there and eat that vegemite, whatever that is. John Hopkins alerts three thousand plus patients after data sent to AI tool. so three thousand patients had all their information sent this AI tool that was unapproved their data's all out there. Everything, their health information. so that can just happen whenever. Let's just put everybody's medical data out there. it's all gonna get leaked and hacked and whatever. put it out there in a big fucking pile. whatever. It's done. All our cards are on the table. Now the hackers won't have anything left to hack. And what they steal your identity they see your medical records. You can see my medical records. I don't go to the doctor.
