- 0:00All right. We are joined by Lee Williams. He's known as the gun
- 0:03Writer the website The gun Writer dot substack dot com. Lee Williams, Good
- 0:08morning, sir, good morning, how are you. I'm terrific. I
- 0:12want to get right to your latest piece about ATF director. What is it
- 0:22Steve Dtleback? What did he have to say to the House Subcommittee? Well,
- 0:29he is not much of a leader. Let's put it that when he
- 0:32came across as a very weak man. We learned a lot more about horrible
- 0:39circumstances regarding the March nineteenth swat raid which killed Brian Melanowski. Evidently ATF cutoff
- 0:45electricity to his home before they went in, making it more difficult for him
- 0:51to identify them as police officers. After he was shot in the head.
- 0:57It took fifty seven seconds between and they kicked in his door and when he
- 1:00was laying on the floor shot in the head. Once he was shot,
- 1:03they grabbed his wife, mayor, who was at the hearing, and pulled
- 1:07her outside in her bed clothes and forced her into the back of a squad
- 1:11car where she was held for four hours. It was thirty four degrees Preston
- 1:18and she was pleading the whole time to go check on her husband. That
- 1:23all prompted Congressman Jim Jordan, who chairs this committee that held the hearing,
- 1:29to say, if that isn't the weaponization of government, I don't know what
- 1:32is. You know, I couldn't agree with him. More. Let's reset
- 1:37for those that may not be fully aware of the story the alleged crimes of
- 1:42Brian Malinowski that forced ATF to treat him as if he was a Jahati terrorist
- 1:49arch criminal. He sold guns without a license at a tide before the new
- 1:56rule took effect. Even though the new rule has been stayed where it would
- 2:00be debatable whether he violated the law or not. He was not selling firearms.
- 2:07He was not in the business of selling firearms. He had a job.
- 2:10He was executive director of the Bill and Hillary Clinton International Airport. In
- 2:15a little rock. He made more than any other city employee who's paid two
- 2:19hundred and sixty thousand dollars a year. He wasn't driving his income from selling
- 2:23guns. He liked to sell guns. He was a hobbyist. He would
- 2:27go to gun shows and get a table. He also sold coins. I
- 2:30guess he was quite the coin collector too, so ATF surveiled him, put
- 2:35a tracker on his car, got a search warrant for his phone, and
- 2:38then they decided to hit his home. March nineteenth, pre dom no knock,
- 2:44raid, took down the door, rushed in. He mistook them for
- 2:49home invaders. Obviously that's what his wife said. I believe her, and
- 2:54came out with the firearm and they shot him in the head. I am
- 2:59there, I am good. I'm a happy example. Glenn Is on nine
- 3:02to noon I am Stronger every day on WFLA. He's the gunwriter. You

- 3:25Lee Williams with us this morning. Lee. It's bad enough. This
- 3:30guy had to face off with Jim Jordan, who I regard as one of
- 3:32the best we have in Congress. He also had to deal with Congressman Troy
- 3:38Nells, who, unfortunately for Dettlebacker, is a former sheriff. Share the
- 3:45opening comments of the ATF director and some of the exchange with Nell's the former
- 3:50sheriff. Yeah, devil Bock tries to make this ATF out to be some
- 3:54type of elite unit. It's not. He claimed. They go after the
- 3:59trigger pull and shooters and gun traffickers, which he called the worst of the
- 4:02worst. They don't. He never mentioned that Brian Melanoski, who has murdered
- 4:08March nineteenth by his agency, never had it been arrested, He had no
- 4:11criminal record. He tried this crap, saying again that gun violence is a
- 4:15leading cause of death for children, which it is if you include eighteen and
- 4:19nineteen year old gang members. But Nells, like you said, former sheriff,
- 4:25been there, done that, called about on it. Nells would not
- 4:29allow when he was sure of no knock warrants because of their danger, and
- 4:32he didn't like quote swat teams coming indoors dress like ninja's. He just outclassed
- 4:40Bock. I mean, they asked detelback, are you a copy? Have
- 4:42you ever done anything? He's like, no, I'm a prosecutor. DETTL.
- 4:45Bock has never been in the field. A lot of the congress people
- 4:48on that committee had, including Mells. He's a decorated sheriff, bri DETL.
- 4:56Bock. You should see it. I mean it was like a three
- 4:59and a half hour here and he just came across really poorly and constantly tap
- 5:04danced around the Malinowski death. We all knew he was going to claim,
- 5:09well, I can't talk about it because it's you know, it's pending legal
- 5:13matter. Hey, your agency murdered someone. He should have been able to
- 5:16discuss that. Our congressman from the district just to our west, Matt Gates,
- 5:24asked an interesting question. He asked, how many firearms does someone have
- 5:29to sell to be engaged in the business of firearms? What was the answer?
- 5:32I mean, that's what you want to know, right, I mean,
- 5:35if you have five, ten, fifteen guns, you come upon hard
- 5:39times, you want to sell some guns, get some or you got guns
- 5:42you don't want, you want to sell a few, make some money.
- 5:45You want to know, you know, can I do this safely with that
- 5:46atf kicking down my door? Now? Delbot couldn't answer this new rule of
- 5:51THEIRS. I want to make sure this is clear for your listeners presently,
- 5:56this new rule about whether or not you need to get a federal firearms license.
- 6:00The rule is sixteen pages long, but there are four hundred pages of
- 6:04explanation, which Dettelbox told the hearing are conduct based, not numerically based,
- 6:12so there is no number. There is no real way to understand it.
- 6:15Basically, they want everybody who wants to sell a gun very worried about ATF
- 6:19and coming through their door, which is I think why they did the whole
- 6:23swat team range so they'll go out and go through a dealer. It's incredible
- 6:29rule. What do you think the outcome of these hearings? The end result
- 6:33of this is this going to end in a settlement with the family in a
- 6:39wrongful death lawsuit with full disclosure. I mean, what are we going to
- 6:42get? Detlbo's scared because he knows that the Malanoski family is represented by a
- 6:49civil attorney who is the former attorney general in Arkansas where this occurred. The
- 6:56guy's really juiced in. He was at the hearing. You can see him.
- 6:59I have a photo of Devil Bock turning to say he's sorry to Brian's
- 7:01widow. Mayor and Bud after his last name, is just sitting right next
- 7:05to the widow. There's going to be a civil suit, it'll be it'll
- 7:11stretch on for a couple of years, and ATF will quietly settle. More
- 7:15importantly, I think some serious, serious changes are heading his way. This
- 7:20agency is out of control. They always have been. Waco, Ruby,
- 7:25Ridge, Fast, and Furious come to mind. They've never been held accountable.
- 7:29I think they're about to be held accountable. Even some of the dems
- 7:32I'm hearing are sick of the bloodthirstiness that ATF has. And you know,
- 7:39they're not really a real federal law enforcement agency. They they're brought in to
- 7:44most cases after the fact. If DEEA or local law enforcement or local sheriff
- 7:49department or state police make an arrest and the guy has a gun, then
- 7:53they'll bring an ATF to trace the gun, maybe it's stolen, or if
- 7:57they get a fellon in possession of a firearm, they'll give ATF a call
- 8:01again after the fact and have them file some federal charges USLA on your phone
- 8:07with the iHeartRadio app and on hundreds of devices like Alexa, Google Home,
- 8:11Xbox, and Sonos. This is Chrysler and Ihearts radiosation. Let's talk with
- 8:18Lee on the break. It's great for business, bad for the country that
- 8:20we have so many stories, so many different fronts that are being battled that
- 8:28relate directly or indirectly to the Second Amendment. So we're going to turn this
- 8:33into sort of a lightning round with Lee williamsthegunwriter dot substack dot com. Lee.
- 8:39Twenty six states have filed lawsuits in federal courts over the redefinition of gun
- 8:43dealers by the ATF. Where's that it's enjoined? In Texas? The court
- 8:50in Texas found that ATF, once again, just like I'm bumstocks and frames
- 8:54and everything else, overstepped its authority and started making laws rather than simp enforcing
- 9:00them. So that law and I know second then foundation my employer hassued that
- 9:05law is going to become loot and held up in the courts. Pretty soon,
- 9:09United States Supreme Court decided not to hear a challenge to a law in
- 9:13Maryland that bans the always vaguely defined assault weapon. A little more on that,
- 9:22Yeah, the law loss. It was filed a couple of years ago
- 9:26in twenty twenty two. It was refiled with new plaintiffs after the bruined decision.
- 9:33Unfortunately, it lingered in Fourth Circuit US Court of Appeals for two years.
- 9:37So the plane has got kind of angry about that and took it directly
- 9:41through the Supreme Court bypassing the Court of Appeals. Supreme Court said, nah,
- 9:46they I mean, they very rarely pressed the will take a case that
- 9:50has not been fully adjudicated by lower court, so they sent it back.
- 9:52Doesn't say anything about how the High Court feels about assault weapon bans. I
- 9:58think they're going to take up the Illinois case, which is a Second Amendment
- 10:01foundation case that seems to be the best one that would accomplish the most in
- 10:05your opinion. Does Scotus saying no, we're going to wait on the Fourth
- 10:09Circuit to make its decision, does it in any way, shape or form,
- 10:11tell the Fourth Circuit okay, get this course case heard. Yeah.
- 10:16I mean that's a very subtle nudge from the justices. It's been in the
- 10:22court for two years, bro. Yeah, how long do we need?
- 10:26All right? Yeah? Broadly. One of the things that we talk about
- 10:30with members of Congress that come on this program is the ever shifting sands of
- 10:37executive leadership in our country. One president comes in, has this philosophy on
- 10:41let's use our example, the Second Amendment on guns, on the atf et
- 10:46cetera, and does one set of executive orders. The next president comes in
- 10:50and undoes it all, and then the next president comes in and redoes it,
- 10:54and it goes back and forth. What do we need to do to
- 10:56stop this ping pong so that our rights are protected and it's codified in law.
- 11:03It is codified in law right now. That is a sad part the
- 11:07Second Amendment, despite what the other team wants to say, is incredibly clear.
- 11:11However, as Justice Thomas once said, is treated like a second class
- 11:16right and that needs to end. I mean, look at Brewin in twenty
- 11:18twenty two. That decision said, hey, you can't just willing nearly ban
- 11:22a fire ements in common usage, and people have a right to carry a
- 11:26firearm outside of their home for self defense. All of these Blue states just
- 11:30completely looked over that and started instituting anti Brewin tantrum laws and nobody's held accountable
- 11:37for that. I think at some point the High Court is going to get
- 11:41a little upset and they're going to start smashing some of these states who are
- 11:45passing these laws knowing full well they're unconstitutional. That's what it's going to take.
- 11:50It's going to take some type of punitive action for the Supreme Court.
- 11:54What is at their disposal though, because almost all courts, especially Supreme Court.
- 12:01It relies on just adherents. It doesn't have a way to enforce it
- 12:05per se. That's up to the you know, the the various law enforcement
- 12:11bureaus or departments, agencies, et cetera to do. So what recourse do
- 12:16we have because I've always found Democrats will just do what they want until a
- 12:20court says no, and then it'll just do it anyway. I remember when
- 12:24the president, former president sent one hundred and first Airborne Division into a Southern
- 12:28school because the governor down there didn't want to integrate. Yeah, unfortunately,
- 12:35and that's what it took. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court doesn't have a couple
- 12:37of battalions at its disposal. But it's going to take an executive branch that
- 12:43is committed to making sure that the Court's rules are followed. And we have
- 12:48just the opposite. Now we have Biden creating the Office of Gun Violence Prevention,
- 12:52which you put right inside the White House arts to say his handlers did
- 12:56so that you know that is being paid for by your tax dollars. In
- 12:58my text dollar, there's an anti gun office in the White House right now
- 13:03dedicated to violating your Second Amendment rights. It's going to take somebody coming in,
- 13:07and I think we all know who that's going to be. Who's going
- 13:09to whack all of this crap overnight, and then it's going to be committed
- 13:13to maintaining and safeguarding the sanctity of the Second Amendment without giving anything away,
- 13:18Lee, what's the next story you're working on that people ought to be putting
- 13:22on their radar. Well, we have. We're going to continue to pound
- 13:28ATF over this Malinowski killing like no one else has because if you watch the
- 13:33hearing yesterday and you saw Mayor Malinowski, the widow, she still has yet
- 13:37received justice on this and ATF has yet to tell the truth. Thanks very
- 13:43much, Lee, appreciate what you do and as always appreciate your friendship with
- 13:48us here on the program. My pleasure. You take care. Thank you,
- 13:50sir, Lee Williams with us thegun Writer dot substack dot com. These
- 13:58are see, these aren't just some novice musings of a guy who cares about
- 14:05the Second Amendment. Lee's Lee's got some chops, he's got the background,
