Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Can you blame her?
- 0:01Speaker 2: Can you blame any of them? That testimony was before
- 0:05Speaker 2: the Senate Judiciary Committee. Republican Senator from Louisiana, John Kennedy
- 0:09Speaker 2: serves on that committee. Senator, thank you very much for
- 0:13Speaker 2: joining us today. You know just your personal reaction as
- 0:18Speaker 2: you listen to these people's stories, sir.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Well, sometimes you forget that behind the sterile crime.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Statistics or flesh and blood.
- 0:33Speaker 3: And this lady today.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Reminded us of that.
- 0:39Speaker 3: When we have these hearings, we always invite some Republican witnesses,
- 0:44Speaker 3: some Democratic witnesses. Democratic witnesses always say the same thing,
- 0:53Speaker 3: that they don't believe in free will, they don't believe
- 0:58Speaker 3: in responsibility. That when criminals commit crimes, it's not their fault,
- 1:04Speaker 3: it's society's fault, and they shouldn't be punished.
- 1:07Speaker 4: We aught to give them a bunch of money. Uh.
- 1:10Speaker 4: And they always say the same thing, mart Uh. They're
- 1:13Speaker 4: they're they're.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Almost like Jack Nicholson in the Shining. They're they're crazed
- 1:20Speaker 3: in their jawnest point of view. There there are a
- 1:23Speaker 3: few degrees off the bubble. Most Americans, most people will
- 1:27Speaker 3: common sense understand that what you allow is what will continue.
- 1:31Speaker 3: And the more law enforcement officials you can put on
- 1:34Speaker 3: the street, Uh, the less crime you're going to have.
- 1:38Speaker 4: It's not complicated.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Uh. Thousands of years of human history proved that. And
- 1:44Speaker 3: I don't know why my Democratic colleagues will not accept
- 1:48Speaker 3: the reality, Senator.
- 1:51Speaker 2: One of your colleagues, Senator Hawley, had an exchange with
- 1:56Speaker 2: a man, Gregory Jackson Junior, who has in the past
- 2:01Speaker 2: talked about defunding the police. At one point, he was
- 2:04Speaker 2: the executive director of Community Justice for a group that
- 2:08Speaker 2: was funded by George Soros's Tides Foundation. Let's watch this
- 2:12Speaker 2: back and forth with your colleague earlier.
- 2:15Speaker 4: I in no way staying with defunding law enforcement.
- 2:18Speaker 1: This is your report, a policymaker's playbook to reduce gun
- 2:22Speaker 1: violence without policing communities. After your policies have transparently failed
- 2:27Speaker 1: and led to the deaths of millions of Americans. Now
- 2:30Speaker 1: you say you've never heard of defunding the police. Your
- 2:32Speaker 1: own report recommends it on page after page after page.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I feel like I'm looking at a two faced individual
- 2:39Speaker 1: because you talk about Ridina. No, sorry, you're looking at
- 2:41Speaker 1: somebody who's reading you. You're o words, you want to
- 2:43Speaker 1: invest in gobbledegook and take away money from police officers
- 2:46Speaker 1: who actually keep our community safe. And when you're called
- 2:49Speaker 1: on the record, you deny it.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Senator, your reaction to that, well, I know, mister Jackson,
- 2:55Speaker 3: he worked for Brother Woobadden.
- 2:58Speaker 4: He believes that cops or the problem.
- 3:01Speaker 3: He believe it, believes that cops are a bigger problem
- 3:03Speaker 3: than criminals. He believes that if a cop has to
- 3:07Speaker 3: shoot a criminal, it's automatically the cops fault.
- 3:11Speaker 4: If a criminal shoots a cop, though, it's the gun's fault.
- 3:16Speaker 3: He's part of the the loon wing of the Democratic
- 3:20Speaker 3: Party and they just don't believe in frue will and responsibility.
- 3:25Speaker 3: And as long as they're in charge, particularly in our
- 3:29Speaker 3: large urban areas, we're going to continue.
- 3:32Speaker 4: To have crime. Look, it's not complicated.
- 3:37Speaker 3: A guy in prison cannot shoot your sister. It's just
- 3:41Speaker 3: very simple. And I'm all for rehabilitating when we can.
- 3:46Speaker 3: But some people are just bad. You have to separate
- 3:49Speaker 3: them from society.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I just think of this dad, you know, realizing after
- 3:53Speaker 2: the fact, after his daughter's horrific murder, that this person
- 3:57Speaker 2: had a rap sheet as long as his arm. I
- 4:01Speaker 2: want to very quickly, Senator just give us your recent
- 4:04Speaker 2: take on this government shutdown, whether it's going to happen,
- 4:08Speaker 2: and what you see at stake Care.
- 4:10Speaker 3: We're going to have a shutdown because Senator Schumer and
- 4:14Speaker 3: the Democrats want one. It will be further evidence that
- 4:19Speaker 3: human evolution is a slow process. There's no reason for
- 4:23Speaker 3: the shutdown. What we've asked Senator Schumer and his colleagues.
- 4:28Speaker 4: To approve is what we've approved fifteen twenty times.
- 4:32Speaker 3: But they want to shut down because the loon wing
- 4:35Speaker 3: of the Democratic Party is mad at Schuck, and Schuck
- 4:39Speaker 3: wants them to love him.
- 4:40Speaker 4: So we're going to have a shutdown.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Okay, all right, we will watch it unfold. Thank you
- 4:45Speaker 2: very much, Senator Kennedy. Always good to see you, sir.
