- 0:09>> Hi. >> Hello. So, just before we started, I haven't
- 0:14told Alyssa yet, I challenge you to see if you can work out what I'm doing this episode.
- 0:19>> Okay. Yeah, I don't know what that means. Um >> no hints, no nothing.
- 0:23>> Yeah. He's literally just told me again the same thing he told me before. So,
- 0:28let's see if I can figure out what he's doing. >> Yeah. I don't know I don't know when I'm
- 0:31going to do it. I may be doing it now. I may be doing it later. We'll find out.
- 0:34>> You don't even know. [ __ ] hell. >> I don't even know when I'm going to do
- 0:37it. I'm going to keep it a secret. I'm going to keep it a secret from myself.
- 0:40>> Good lord. Is that it? Was that it? Opening it drink >> This is not a secret.
- 0:44>> What is that? >> first one of the day. It's just a Vodka Cruiser double.
- 0:48>> Vodka Cruiser double. It's just a just a double. >> Just a double.
- 0:51>> It's your first of the day. >> My first of the day, yes. I decided to
- 0:53do a little bit different to last week's episode. >> [laughter]
- 0:58>> Oh, last week's episode I thought it was pretty good. So, I I mean
- 1:02>> But yeah, when you drink >> Not not I'm encouraging you to get
- 1:05[ __ ] plastered beforehand, but >> But though, when you're drinking it can
- 1:08go it can go one of two ways. It could be really good or >> Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:13There is an episode out there somewhere that I'm not sure I think
- 1:17I don't know if it's on there, but there was an episode where I drank a bottle of port.
- 1:23I don't know if you remember this. >> [laughter] >> [ __ ] Yeah.
- 1:28>> You got I I was like >> The next day I was like, "I'm [ __ ] I'm sorry, guys."
- 1:33>> [laughter] [gasps] >> We've all had those episodes. Me probably more than others.
- 1:39That's why [laughter] you've got to find that right level. And sometimes that's hard.
- 1:43>> Yeah. >> Especially start drinking early. >> Yeah.
- 1:47Yeah. You watched a lot of movies last week. Did you watch any movies at the
- 1:49movies this week? >> I've watched no movies at the movies this week.
- 1:52>> All right, taking a week off. >> Zero. Taking a week off. But next week I will.
- 1:56>> I also have not seen a movie at the movies. I've been told that I should see
- 2:03[ __ ] What have I got What was I told to see? I was told to see everything, but
- 2:07Oh, it's a Disclosure Day. Nate told me, "Yes, go see Disclosure Day."
- 2:12I hadn't heard your review yet. >> [laughter] >> I told him
- 2:16I think Oh, I think I said Yeah, you also said I should.
- 2:20Even though you didn't particularly give a [ __ ] about it.
- 2:24>> No, I'm never going to watch it again, but >> Yeah. So, I want to do that. Uh
- 2:30I've been playing a video game this week, though. >> I I saw this.
- 2:35What made you go into this? Cuz I've never played this game. I've seen
- 2:39YouTubers play it and I find it quite amusing the way they play.
- 2:42>> Yeah, I watch a lot of people play Rust. I don't know why. It's I watch Willjum
- 2:49in particular. I just every Willjum video I watch and I find it very interesting.
- 2:55Uh >> Rust they go on wipe day and start with nothing and >> Yep.
- 3:01>> play. >> Uh and then they play solo, too. Like Willjum plays solo and I learned in
- 3:05Tokyo and a couple others that I that I follow. They play solo, which is quite
- 3:09difficult in Rust. Rust Those who don't know, Rust is like it's online only. >> Yes.
- 3:15>> like you you start the game literally naked on the beach with a rock. All
- 3:20you've got is a rock and a torch. And you have to collect resources and
- 3:25learn how to make things and eventually everybody has guns and
- 3:29helicopters and stuff, but you have to build them. All that.
- 3:32>> You got to build up to that and build up to like the furnace and then the
- 3:37different resources >> metal and all this kind of stuff. >> Yep.
- 3:39>> And then you're on a big island. And then basically the premise is that
- 3:43on everything is just trying to kill you. And you just have to survive and
- 3:47the wipe Wipe means how long it is before the server gets a completely
- 3:52reset. Everything is temporary, right? It's basically like like a a
- 3:57month-long game of paintball. If it's a month some are 7 days
- 4:01some are whatever. It's whatever the server is. After a certain period of time that's it.
- 4:07>> Yep, and you start again. >> Yep, and you just you just have to try
- 4:10and survive and have fun. >> have to keep logging in because your
- 4:13stuff will deteriorate quite quickly. >> And you'll get raided. Like if you build
- 4:17a base, people will come and take your [ __ ] >> Cuz the servers are 24 hours. Like it's
- 4:21not like you just I'm going to log off, go to work, come back, everything will
- 4:24be fine. No, you can log off, go to work, come back, and everything is gone. >> Yeah.
- 4:28So, I've seen I've watched a lot of people play this. I don't know why. It's I think it's
- 4:32for some reason it makes for particularly compelling YouTube content.
- 4:37I like I don't know what it is. >> But how is it actually playing it?
- 4:41>> So, okay, I was like it's it was on it's on sale. I don't know if it's on sale.
- 4:44It it was on sale. It's been on my wish list for ages cuz I was like it looks fun.
- 4:49It well, watching people play is fun. I don't know if I'll have fun playing it,
- 4:52so I don't want to pay full price for it because yeah. So, I I bought it.
- 4:57I was like [ __ ] it. I'm going to give it a try. So, I loaded it up and I've only ever
- 5:01watched these people. I said Wilburgur in particular plays on the big high
- 5:05count how to play account like serious clan servers with like serious [ __ ]
- 5:11hardcore Rust players. >> People who are going in know how to play the game.
- 5:15>> Yeah, it's hard. Yeah, uh only ever seen it and it's brutal. Like if you see
- 5:20somebody, you [ __ ] murder them and you steal >> Right. >> But I was
- 5:24I'm looking at the server list and they've got softcore servers, which is
- 5:28kind of like when you die, you don't lose all your stuff. You >> Like that.
- 5:32>> Some of it. I don't know exactly what the >> But it's good for new players type of
- 5:35thing. >> That's the idea. That's what I thought. I thought I was just like a little bit
- 5:39less harsh on that kind of stuff. All right, so I joined >> Mhm.
- 5:43>> the the number one like the the the official number one softcore Rust
- 5:48server, right? I'm like, "Okay, great." So, >> You were instantly murdered? >> I mean, no.
- 5:54>> [laughter] >> No. I got in the game. I'm there I'm naked
- 5:58on the beach with a rock, right? And I'm like, "Okay, I kind of know what to do,
- 6:02but not really because they skip over a lot of that early stuff because it's not
- 6:05interesting." >> Yeah, so >> They like do a montage of them like
- 6:09collecting resources and stuff. I'm like, "I don't actually know what I'm supposed to do."
- 6:13>> and what builds what or how to build that early game stuff.
- 6:17>> Yeah, no idea. So, I'm like, "Okay, [ __ ] I got to figure this out." So, I'm
- 6:19running around and like hitting my rock on stuff to try and collect things. >> Yeah.
- 6:24>> And then I see another person. And I'm like, "Okay, well, I know what to do."
- 6:30>> [laughter] >> I run over and I start beating this person to death with a rock.
- 6:34And I'm like [ __ ] smacking him and he he starts running away. And I'm like,
- 6:38"Get back here, you [ __ ] So, [laughter] I beat this guy to death
- 6:42with a rock. And I and I check his inventory. He's got a bunch of stuff,
- 6:46like a bunch of rocks and rock and wood and all this stuff. I take it all.
- 6:50And then I So, then I'm like running off and then I get a message
- 6:54from this person that says, "Dude, why?" >> [laughter]
- 7:01>> I was like, "Oh, it's supposed to be different? Like, am I not supposed to
- 7:07>> [laughter] >> Is it softcore as in you don't attack anyone and everyone just builds and
- 7:11>> I don't know. He was very He was He was like, "Dude, I wasn't going to [ __ ] with
- 7:15you. Why? Why did you do that? >> [laughter] >> I was trying to get away."
- 7:21[ __ ] So, So, I just was like, "Oh, [ __ ] hell." And then I So, I ran off and into the
- 7:27jungle as you do. Escape the crocodile. And then
- 7:33uh and then this I'm So, I'm collecting stuff in the jungle and I'm like, "Okay,
- 7:37I'm trying to get the hang of this." And then some [ __ ] dude in full armor with a gun
- 7:43jumps out and then on the like on his cuz you can hold down V to like talk in
- 7:48game and I guess everybody does this. I didn't know this, but if you're going to
- 7:51play, apparently you're supposed to have a mic and headset so you can do this. >> Yep.
- 7:55>> He jumps out and he goes on the mic, he goes, "Put your [ __ ] hands up. What
- 7:58do you [laughter] got?" So I'm like just froze. And he and he goes, "What have you got?"
- 8:05And I said, [laughter] I'm like I'm in the game I'm just going And then
- 8:10he goes, "Hold V. Hold V, dead." >> [laughter] >> I don't like it at the moment.
- 8:17And um so he shot me in the head. >> Yep. >> And so you get into like when you get
- 8:21shot you get into like wounded state where you can be healed. >> Mhm.
- 8:26>> But when you're wounded you can be looted. And so he shot me and I guess
- 8:30checked my inventory and felt bad so he healed me. >> [laughter]
- 8:36>> And then he threw a cleaver on the ground and he said, "Take that." >> [laughter]
- 8:40>> And he ran off. >> [snorts] >> And I honestly
- 8:44I was like this is [ __ ] great. So
- 8:49>> Oh, I love that. So your first encounter you just murdered this person for no reason.
- 8:54>> man to death with a rock. >> Rock. >> And he [laughter] as he was screamed,
- 9:00And then things >> Then you get shot and then that person
- 9:03actually went, "Oh, you've got nothing. You you're not doing well.
- 9:07Brought you back to life and here's a weapon." >> it was pretty obvious that I was a noob
- 9:12and he was like, "Here, take a weapon and [ __ ] off." [laughter] Uh and then uh
- 9:18I managed to build a sleeping bag uh which is where you can like respawn.
- 9:22Cuz if you Okay, if you die, you go back to a random spot on the
- 9:26beach at the edge and you don't really want to be there like for building a
- 9:30base or whatever. You want to get resources and get further in.
- 9:33And so you have to put a sleeping bag down and then you can respawn at your
- 9:36sleeping bag. So, I managed to do that. Somebody else shot me, I died, and then
- 9:42uh I don't know. I think I played for a couple hours, and then I was like, "Okay,
- 9:46I'm going to just get in the hang of it. I'm not getting too attached. I haven't
- 9:48built anything." Like, you can build a base and all that. I haven't done any of that, but
- 9:52>> Yeah, I just think I'd get I'm frust- I don't know. I think I'd get too
- 9:55frustrated with this game too quickly. >> that, but I think the fact that it's temporary,
- 10:02like, I know that going in. I know what it is. I'm not like that. I've got no >> Yeah.
- 10:07>> illusions about how good I'm going to be or anything. I was just like, "I'm just
- 10:11going to goof around and have fun. Whatever." >> Yeah. And I can actually Now now you've
- 10:14explained it that way, like, yeah, you can get to a point where you go, "Oh,
- 10:17well, yeah, this this particular wipe has not gone well. I'm just going to
- 10:20give up on it." Cuz >> Yeah, I'm just going to go grief some people or >> Yeah.
- 10:25>> uh door camp or whatever, which is door camping is when you just wait outside
- 10:29somebody's door, and when they open the door, you shoot them in the face, you
- 10:31run in and steal all of their stuff. >> [laughter] >> And that's why you have to build an
- 10:35airlock under your base. >> Yeah. >> There's a tip for you.
- 10:38>> Yeah. Or you could just pick on a small child and beat them to death with a rock.
- 10:44>> Beat them to [laughter] death with a rock. >> To take nothing.
- 10:49>> So, anyway, that's Rust. >> Yeah. >> It's fun. It is
- 10:52>> This is one of those games that sort of it's been around like forever. It's sort
- 10:58of I think it's gotten bigger now than it did at the start. It's sort of >> Yeah.
- 11:02>> Or it's grown and stayed with it. >> I think it was like
- 11:06clunkier and stuff at the start. Like, now there's a there's a lot to do in it.
- 11:09Like, they've got like um they added the you can build [ __ ] big ships now and
- 11:13go out into the deep sea. They've added like >> Oh, oh god. Wow.
- 11:17>> Yeah, they've added tons of stuff to it. And like
- 11:20And it's also it's got areas of the map uh they call them monuments.
- 11:24And there's stuff like there's a military base, uh a [ __ ] oil rig, uh an Arctic
- 11:30station, and they're basically like um like dungeons, I guess, in a in a in a
- 11:36MMORPG. Um where you've got like um is that the thing? You're doing the thing?
- 11:43>> No, I wasn't doing anything. My phone just vibrated and I just put it turned
- 11:46it off vibrate. >> Okay. Uh yeah, there's there's puzzles. You
- 11:49got to collect like key cards to open doors and stuff like that. So, there's
- 11:51like these little kind of puzzle puzzly things and stuff that you can do and
- 11:54it's I don't know, it's it's good, man. It's fun. >> Not for everyone, but I think that I
- 12:00>> I've watched so many people play it uh cuz I think it just I don't know, it
- 12:04makes for good content because it just is so brutal. Like and it's almost like
- 12:10it's just a survival thing. >> Yeah. And you have a you do have a wide
- 12:14range of people still playing. You got like small children and then adults. It's
- 12:19>> I don't know that he was a child. He may have just been a >> [laughter] >> sad man.
- 12:24>> No, I'm going to he was like a 10-year-old beat to death with a rock and stole his
- 12:29stuff. Speaking of the code Oh, yeah. That's what I reckon. If you'd
- 12:33have gone and cried like that >> [laughter] >> like you can take all that back.
- 12:37>> That was a kid. Oh, one thing that's interesting about it, I didn't know this. >> Mhm.
- 12:42>> Um cuz I was like, how do you change what you look like? You can't. It's random.
- 12:48>> That's yeah. >> And it's linked to your Steam account.
- 12:51So, if you want to look different, you've got to buy the game again on a
- 12:54different Steam account. I didn't know that. I was like cuz I looked at I'm
- 12:57just I'm a woman and I was like, okay, how do I change my appearance? Can't. You don't.
- 13:02>> No, that was what I remember that when it sort of first came out, it was just
- 13:05going to be no, you get into this world completely random. That's it. Like
- 13:08whatever you come in as, that's that's you. >> Yeah. Yeah.
- 13:12>> I've got set I play most games as a woman, so I'd be okay with that.
- 13:16>> Uh yeah, I wasn't I was just curious how to adjust things. I didn't even think
- 13:19about it. You don't really see what you look like very often anyway. It's
- 13:22everyone else's problem, but um yeah. Anyway, enough of that. That's Rust. Uh
- 13:28if anyone wants to play Rust with me, let me know.
- 13:32>> I probably won't. Although, how much is it on sale for? Actually, I probably own it.
- 13:36>> You probably do, knowing you. It was 20 bucks [clears throat] here. I think it's
- 13:39normally like 40 or 50. It was 20 bucks here. >> I need to go through my Humble Bundle
- 13:43subscription and see what games and codes I have. I've got hundreds. >> Yeah.
- 13:47>> Of codes, codes, let alone games. I've got 1,000 games on Steam.
- 13:51>> Yeah. What do I got these days? I've stopped I stopped buying it for a
- 13:55long time. I've started again, actually. I've gone I've become more of a a a
- 14:01I guess a PC gamer again, cuz I've got GeForce Now. I haven't played my Xbox ages.
- 14:05>> Well, even with the Steam sales, I remember I think I just got over them a little
- 14:11bit. The Steam sales used to be great. You go and you buy all these games. And
- 14:14then I just think it's just the same games that are on sale every time. It
- 14:19doesn't really feel like it changes anymore now. They've got a new gimmick every time, but
- 14:24>> I've got 641 games. >> Wow. How many have you played?
- 14:30>> I don't know how to tell. >> I don't know if you if you can. >> Yeah.
- 14:35Actually, [clears throat] some of these, I guess, to be fair, are not
- 14:38different games. There's like, you know, they have like
- 14:41the game and then they have like the the server for the game and then the the dev
- 14:45kit and all that. >> Oh, yeah. >> So, some of them it's the same stuff, but >> Yeah.
- 14:49>> Yeah. >> That's all right.
- 14:54>> So, okay. We've got So, I've got quite a lot of Xbox news.
- 14:58>> Yes, cuz we did have the State of Play No, that was the That was the
- 15:05PlayStation one. This was the Summer Game Fest, was it? >> Yes, I think so. Yes.
- 15:10So, do you want But, there's also a lot of other stuff. Uh
- 15:13>> Yes. Well, there's a lot. Probably the big one probably to start with is
- 15:18their big reset that they've got coming up, which is >> Mhm.
- 15:23>> a bit crazy and something they also said they weren't going to do. That was
- 15:27wasn't that part of their negotiation with buying like >> all the game companies
- 15:34>> Like yeah, they bought Activision and everybody. Yeah, they went look but
- 15:37we're not going to lay anyone off and all this stuff. It's And now
- 15:41>> Well, I mean they got a new head of Xbox. Uh she's you know, she What one of
- 15:46the things Penny Arcade did a comic about it is that it started out
- 15:51coming out and saying a bunch of stuff that we all wanted to hear, which is
- 15:54like it's too expensive now. We're like, "Yeah." We're We're going to make
- 15:58another console. Yeah. Yeah. And like saying all this stuff that's
- 16:02like like, "Yeah, we'll be listening to you guys." Everybody's like, "Yeah."
- 16:05And then And then she's like, "Yeah, also uh you're all fired." >> Yeah.
- 16:11>> Uh oh, okay. >> And I still say like a lot of that stuff
- 16:14that she came out with at the start is probably stuff that they'd sat on >> Yes.
- 16:18>> waiting for her to take over as a Look, let's make this transition nice and sort
- 16:23of give people what they've been asking for but that's not going to work for us. Yeah.
- 16:27>> Mhm. >> One of the things she has come out and said though is she wants Bethesda to
- 16:34hurry up on Elder Scrolls and >> [laughter] >> and Fallout.
- 16:39>> I'm sure I'm sure. >> [clears throat] >> And I think I think that's fair.
- 16:44>> I mean, if they're going to do exclusives, they'd be good ones to do. >> And
- 16:50you need to them to release if you're going to make money off them. They're
- 16:55going to be your big things. You need them out. But like Elder Scrolls 6, what
- 17:00When was the last time we heard about that? We heard about it
- 17:04>> It's been [ __ ] ages. Like they showed that trailer. Uh did they show another trailer
- 17:08recently? I don't think so. >> think they've shown another They've
- 17:10shown that initial hype yep, it's coming. Yeah, that was
- 17:13>> but that was like 10 years ago. I might be exaggerating slightly.
- 17:18>> two or three more versions of Skyrim since then. >> Yeah. Um
- 17:23they can Okay. So, the word on it is it's coming along great, but like
- 17:29what does that mean? It's still like years away. Okay, here we go. Tentatively 2028. Uh
- 17:36okay, sorry. Wait. In 2023, Phil Spencer said it was at least 5 years away.
- 17:43Ten which would be tentatively 2028. So, that's still like 2 years away.
- 17:47>> Yeah. And we're still not And it's just too long for games. I
- 17:52don't What is taking so long? >> Yeah. There's been no Elder Scrolls game
- 17:57[clears throat] like no proper Elder Scrolls game this generation of console. >> Yeah.
- 18:01>> The last one was just Xbox. >> Yep. And it sounds like there isn't
- 18:05going to be one this generation either. >> Yeah. It's going to be uh on Helix or whatever
- 18:11it is. PlayStation 6 and Helix. Mhm. >> And the same for Fallout.
- 18:18>> They're going to fire them all. Yeah, there's no Yeah, Fallout 4 uh
- 18:23that's [ __ ] ages ago. >> Yeah. >> Um
- 18:28so Yeah, so so they're doing a big reset. They're like laying off
- 18:34uh a lot of stuff from a lot of the um studios. They're shutting down
- 18:40Ninja Theory, which is like a a studio that they bought at some point. >> I actually
- 18:46I quite liked the Hellblade series they were putting out. They've I think >> Yeah.
- 18:51>> Yeah, that That was actually I enjoyed those games. >> Oh, those games? >> Yeah.
- 18:56>> Yeah, they were cool. I played the first one. That was cool. Yeah, that sucks.
- 19:00Uh they didn't did Ninja Theory do um What's it? Ninja Gaiden? The
- 19:07>> They might have and that I I know Ninja Gaiden I did not play. That was That's
- 19:12not for me. That's Yeah. Is it Ninja Gaiden I'm thinking of? Maybe not.
- 19:19Uh I think maybe I'm thinking >> I think it's just cuz you're hearing Ninja.
- 19:23>> Team Ninja. Yeah, no, it's definitely not them. All right, cool. Um
- 19:28Yeah, so I don't know. It's just Uh oh, the uh the head of um Xbox Game
- 19:33Studios has resigned. Um because
- 19:39uh I guess because of this, I guess. Uh he was there for less than 2 years. Um
- 19:45and I mean, it doesn't say why. Oh, hang on. Here we go.
- 19:51>> [groaning] >> I don't know. >> [laughter]
- 19:58>> I think he just doesn't want to have to go and fire people.
- 20:01>> They they're implying that it was because of this, but uh it I guess it isn't
- 20:05isn't 100% clear. >> But it's just so weird. Like you take away the Activision stuff. Like
- 20:10they made a big point like only a few years ago of like going out and buying
- 20:14all these studios. >> Yeah. >> And now it's now we're going to get rid of them all.
- 20:18>> Well, I wonder if she's [snorts] coming and realized this Well, we're not making
- 20:22any money. Like Yeah, I don't know. >> I don't know. You need to
- 20:27They need to release games. That's the >> Yeah, you would think so.
- 20:33Yeah. >> Actually >> Uh Compulsion Games and Double Fine are negotiating the chance to go
- 20:39independent. >> Okay. I I mean, okay, going independent
- 20:43I think it's a little bit different. Now's the time to sort of jump in to do that.
- 20:47>> Yeah, don't shut them down cuz they're Well, they're going to shut them down if
- 20:49they if they don't do that, I guess. >> Mhm. >> Uh >> But I've always felt felt that quite
- 20:54hard to understand how that works. Like we own you,
- 20:57but we will let you take over and still continue as a company. Where's that
- 21:02money transfer happen there? Like I've never understood that.
- 21:04>> Well, they're going to shut them down anyway. It's like you might as well.
- 21:08>> Yeah, but they they >> Like why not let them all do that?
- 21:11>> Why are they shutting him down? Well, cuz they want to hold on to their
- 21:15IPs all of the time. >> Oh, yeah. Okay. And maybe some of the stuff. >> Yeah.
- 21:20>> Yeah. Okay, that's fair. They don't want uh [ __ ] what's his name? Double Fine. I
- 21:26can't remember his name. >> Schafer. >> Schafer, Tim Schafer. Yeah. Uh
- 21:32>> He'll find a job somewhere. Yeah. Hopefully he's just running Double Fine as he is.
- 21:37>> He'll create one for himself. He's like, yeah, he's fine. He'll be fine. Um
- 21:42Yeah, so I don't know. This is all mixed bag really, I guess now for Xbox.
- 21:47Like the the big picture stuff for us has been good, but yeah, this this stuff's not good.
- 21:53>> No, but yeah, just
- 21:58I do hurry. They need to I don't know what's happened with games taking so
- 22:02long to make now. >> [laughter] >> There's been a big shift. >> Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:08>> Like they were able to release GTA 3,
- 22:13San Andreas, Vice City, 4, and 5 in the time it's made it taken
- 22:18them to make 6. Like, what's happening now? >> Well, they're more complicated. People
- 22:23demand more from them, I guess. And like look at Let me just look at the world,
- 22:29the game world, and everything. It's so much much more complicated. Like
- 22:33>> I don't know. It just seems like a lot longer. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> a good chance
- 22:39It's a good The way it's going, we will never get to play Elder Scrolls 7.
- 22:44>> No, we'll be dead. >> going to take 30 years to make. >> [laughter]
- 22:49>> We'll be uh the Skyrim grandma playing Elder Scrolls 7.
- 22:54If we're if we're around. Um yeah. Yeah, I know what you mean. And then the uh
- 23:01they're not getting cheaper. So >> No. >> Um Although we've talked about this.
- 23:06Technically they're not getting more expensive either, although they are slightly now.
- 23:10People are complaining about it. >> They are complaining, but I've also been
- 23:13saying for a long time that they shouldn't have been.
- 23:15>> Yeah. Inflation-wise they've never been cheaper. >> Yeah. >> Um
- 23:22>> some of the I think we need need more double A games
- 23:26at that midpoint that are >> Yeah. >> Like the RoboCop games and the
- 23:32Terminator games. Like I find them that midpoint. Like they don't take as long
- 23:35to make. They're not >> Mhm. >> the greatest game ever, but they're not
- 23:38they're fun and they're at a cheaper price point. We need more of that level, I think.
- 23:42>> Yeah, right. >> Instead of just indie or triple A. >> Yeah. Yeah.
- 23:49>> But what do I know? I just buy them all. >> Yeah, you buy everything. Don't listen
- 23:53to him. Luke will buy whatever you put out. Uh another interesting Xbox-related thing. Um
- 23:59They announced that new Gears of War game that I didn't think looked
- 24:02particularly good, but people were just but enjoying it. I don't know what you
- 24:04think of it. >> I'm actually Are you talking about the um Emergence
- 24:09Day one, E-Day coming out? >> yeah. >> I'm actually quite scared about this one
- 24:13because they've actually said this is the longest um
- 24:17story that they've ever had for a Gears of War game. >> Mhm.
- 24:21>> And I felt because I've played them all and some of them they feel like they've
- 24:24gone on far too long. >> Yeah, sure. >> And then they're saying this one's even
- 24:27longer. I'm a bit scared about that. >> Yeah, I don't know. It just didn't look
- 24:31I mean, looked like Gears of War, but I don't know. The map that they showed
- 24:35or I I I didn't watch the whole thing. There was like a whole presentation
- 24:38about it, but the bits that I saw of it I was like, "Ah, it doesn't look very
- 24:41interesting to me." >> Mhm. >> Uh but I guess maybe I'm not the target audience.
- 24:46That's fine. Uh but the interesting thing about it is that it is a Xbox exclusive
- 24:52now, but they had previously uh had artwork and stuff done that had
- 24:59the PlayStation logo on it. And so everybody was like, "Hang on a minute. >> [laughter]
- 25:05>> When did that happen?" >> Yeah, and I think Sony's actually now a
- 25:10little bit upset with Xbox about this cuz they've gone back on this. I think
- 25:16at their state of play they were meant to have like a Halo gameplay and stuff
- 25:19and at the last minute Sony sort of went PlayStation went Xbox went, "No, you
- 25:24can't have that. We're not going to show that now." And they're just starting to
- 25:28backtrack on some of the stuff they're showing. >> There's a new Halo game, too, right?
- 25:33>> There's Halo Combat Evolved just remastered in Unreal.
- 25:36>> Yeah, yeah. But isn't there another one that's like Or is it that Halo Combat
- 25:40Evolved has got >> It's got new missions. >> Okay, maybe that's what I'm thinking of.
- 25:44>> You're playing as Sergeant Johnson for the first three missions, yes. Yeah. >> [snorts]
- 25:49>> Interesting. Just a remake of Halo. Otherwise.
- 25:54>> Yeah, it's a remake of Halo apart from three three missions that you sort of a
- 25:58bit of a prequel. >> All right. >> But that's >> I don't know.
- 26:03>> We get that. But I I think it's also we get to a point of
- 26:08year when no one wants to release anything big. With I think we were
- 26:12coming up with a lot of good games coming out but now everyone's too afraid
- 26:15of Grand Theft Auto. >> Speaking of, some [clears throat] fun news for
- 26:21people who own GTA V on older consoles, PS4 and Xbox One,
- 26:27they've put out free upgrades to the current generation.
- 26:32>> Which is sort of weird. Like has this been something they've been sitting on
- 26:35or have they been actively working on it? Cuz I thought the stuff that was
- 26:39>> Well, isn't there already versions of GTA V for those consoles? Is this just a
- 26:44case of there or am I misunderstanding this? That that
- 26:49these games were only on PS4 and Xbox One and now they've released Xbox Series
- 26:54X and PlayStation 5 versions or >> No. >> did they just give people a free upgrade?
- 26:59>> They're giving people a free upgrade cuz there was a point where they went with
- 27:02the older consoles like we're not giving you upgrades anymore.
- 27:06Like we're just going to focus on the newer consoles. So
- 27:09>> Okay. So there was already a like an Xbox Series X version of GTA 5. Okay. >> Yeah.
- 27:14>> You would have had to buy it. >> Yes. >> Right.
- 27:17>> So they were focusing on that and then the older versions just weren't getting
- 27:21any new content. >> Okay. >> And now they're saying, "Hey, no. We're
- 27:25going to give you all those upgrades." Which I thought the reason why they stopped
- 27:29doing it was because the older consoles couldn't maybe handle it or but evidently it
- 27:35could and they just want people to play the game again.
- 27:38>> I But like this doesn't work on the old console. It's just if you have if you
- 27:43bought the game on the old console, you now get the version for the upgrade for the
- 27:47Series X. You know what I'm saying? >> Oh, I thought they were upgrading they
- 27:50were giving you a Oh. >> No, no, no. I'm saying if you own GTA if
- 27:54you have an Xbox Series X but you bought GTA 6 on the Xbox One and you only have
- 27:59that version, they're saying you can have the nice version. >> Okay. No.
- 28:03>> Which you would have had to pay for previously.
- 28:04>> Yeah. I I thought they were cuz I know there was a point where they stopped
- 28:07doing upgrades and stuff for Grand Theft Auto live and stuff and I thought they were
- 28:11here's here you can have all the upgrades that you missed on the old console.
- 28:15>> No, I don't think so. >> Okay. That's actually quite nice. >> It is, yeah. Uh it's
- 28:22I guess do they want people playing 5 to get hyped up for 6? Maybe that's what it
- 28:25is. They're trying to build up >> so but everyone's already The people who
- 28:28are playing 5 are already playing 5. >> That's what I mean. Yeah. What hype do
- 28:32you need? You've >> Yeah. >> It's like the most hyped game ever.
- 28:35>> Yeah. This is what I'm going to be very interested to see their uh marketing
- 28:39strategy because I keep saying they do not need it. >> No, but you know.
- 28:45>> All they need to do is what done. They've released some trailers which are
- 28:49some of fastest watch trailers ever. >> Yeah. >> And then they need to give a release
- 28:55date. Their marketing work's done. And then everyone will just talk about it. >> Mhm. Mhm.
- 29:01Yeah. >> So with wasn't it with GTA V like they said they spent hundreds
- 29:07of millions of dollars on marketing for that? >> Probably. Yeah. Yeah, cuz of billboards
- 29:12everywhere. >> Everywhere. >> Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 29:17>> We'll find We'll see. We've only got what? July, August, September, October. What?
- 29:245 months to go. >> I don't care. >> I'm looking forward to it.
- 29:30>> Uh it just doesn't interest me. I'm not going to I'm not going to play it.
- 29:35>> I'm excited. >> I'll play it. >> I tried to play GTA V. Didn't like it.
- 29:40>> game. I don't Yeah, I >> I don't like it. It bores me. I don't know why. It's boring.
- 29:45>> I don't know. I've played through it like five times. >> Really?
- 29:49>> Mhm. It gets boring on the fifth time. I'll tell you that. >> [laughter]
- 29:52>> It gets boring five minutes into the first time. I don't know what I don't
- 29:55know what it is, man. It just doesn't interest me in the slightest. I can't explain it.
- 30:01>> What What is coming out? >> Clearly I'm wrong cuz everybody loves
- 30:04this stuff, but I just I don't care. I don't know.
- 30:10>> There's got to be some good games coming out soon, though.
- 30:13Well, they're starting to see a lot more slop coming out. >> Yeah.
- 30:18>> Which I buy them all, but >> All the asset flips. >> Yeah.
- 30:23>> I was talking to my friend the other day. He was describing a game he was
- 30:27playing, and I'm like, "That sounds like a [ __ ] asset flip to me." >> [laughter]
- 30:30>> It was a dig a hole. Have you played Dig a Hole? >> Oh, I love that game.
- 30:34>> Yeah, okay. Yeah, my friend Jimmy was talking about Dig a Hole, and I was
- 30:38like, "That doesn't sound like a real game." >> [laughter]
- 30:41>> But But then as he went on I was like, "Oh, okay. There is like
- 30:44upgrade mechanics and stuff apparently." >> Yep. I I finished that. 100% of it. >> Yeah.
- 30:50And you loved it you said. >> I enjoyed it. There was a cheat for it though which
- 30:53>> You walked that back slightly there. But, okay. There's a cheat for it?
- 30:56>> There's a cheat for it. So, the whole thing is about you dig the
- 31:00hole, you get it all, you sell the all, you upgrade your gear, you dig more, and
- 31:04you got to get to the bottom. Well, there's a certain tile in the game
- 31:09which if you hit that tile, it gives you like a thousand or ten thousand
- 31:14dollars every time you hit that tile. So, you can just get all the money up front.
- 31:19Buy all the and then you can fly through the game quite quickly. >> Right. All right.
- 31:24>> I did that. >> [laughter] >> It's not cheating though cuz the game
- 31:28lets you do it. That's fine. >> Game lets you do it. They put the They
- 31:30put it in. I just used it. There is one game coming out soon that I'm looking forward to.
- 31:34>> Go on. >> And it's got July is Assassin's Creed Black Flag.
- 31:38>> Oh. Uh and I've played that game. I got an advanced copy 10 years ago.
- 31:44>> [laughter] >> This one might look a little bit different.
- 31:48>> Oh, really? Okay. Uh no, I remember that being very good.
- 31:53So, uh and and apparently this version of it is excellent. So, I'm interested in that.
- 31:58>> I really enjoyed the sailing. >> Yeah. >> Just the sailing.
- 32:05>> Uh favorite is still uh Odyssey. But, they won't remake that cuz
- 32:10it's not it's not quite long enough.
- 32:14>> Uh have you done all the DLC for it? >> Uh I've done
- 32:19>> of it but it's mostly gets into the supernatural stuff.
- 32:21>> Yeah, I did I did I've done the Cyclops. I've done Medusa. I've done um
- 32:26I think I've done most of that stuff, yeah. >> Yeah.
- 32:30Yeah, cuz yeah, it's not yeah, the while it is DLC for it and it is in the game it's
- 32:36>> Oh, yeah. Cuz the main story line is just about your brother or your sister if you play
- 32:42as Alexios. I don't know why you would though. Uh if you play correctly as Cassandra it's
- 32:46about finding him. Uh
- 32:49right? That's the main plot. And then or Uh but yeah, you're right. The
- 32:54supernatural stuff and the stuff with like Pythagoras and all that DLC.
- 32:58>> That's more of a side quest in the main game. That's more of a side quest in the
- 33:01main game, yeah. >> I did it all at once so it was kind of
- 33:04like hard to tell what was DLC and what wasn't. >> Yeah. >> It's a good game.
- 33:11>> Yeah. Well, the closest you're going to get to a re-release of anything you soon
- 33:14is Black Flag. >> Yeah, okay. I'll check it out. >> We'll play that.
- 33:21>> Pirates. >> Nothing wrong with pirates. >> No. No, I we got some pirate news.
- 33:29>> We've got pirate news? >> Yeah. >> Pirate news.
- 33:32>> Uh this is apparently an exclusive by Collider this week. Hugh Jackman is
- 33:37starring in Ridley Scott's new adaptation of Treasure Island.
- 33:42Ridley Scott's doing Treasure Island. Uh >> Okay. >> Uh Ridley Scott, I don't know, man.
- 33:48>> Ridley Scott doing Treasure Island?
- 33:50>> Yeah. I mean, this is Ridley Scott is
- 33:56I guess I should still say one of my favorite directors. Although
- 34:01lately it's just like, [ __ ] man. Like hit or miss.
- 34:05>> Yeah, and I just I don't know. I just >> This could be really excellent or it
- 34:11could be one of his duds. >> I'm going to head towards one of his
- 34:15duds, honestly, cuz this does not really feel like a movie he would make.
- 34:22>> I mean, maybe that's good. >> Like it's definitely not in his
- 34:25wheelhouse when you look at what he's done ever.
- 34:29>> That's fair. I mean, Hugh Jackman said, "I got the script written by Jack Thorne
- 34:33who did Adolescence, which is that TV series everybody loved
- 34:37with that kid. I've never read Treasure Island. I'd never seen Treasure Island.
- 34:41I'd heard of Long John Silver, but I really didn't know anything. I just read
- 34:44the script and I was like, this is genius." So. >> Okay.
- 34:49>> Yeah. I mean, maybe it's just the fact he's never read the book. He was
- 34:55like, "First of all, I like that's got nothing to do with Ridley Scott. It's just
- 35:00look, maybe, you know?" So, I don't know. >> All right. Well, we'll we'll wait and
- 35:05see, yeah, I guess. We've got a while to wait. >> Oh, yeah. They're not even
- 35:11making it yet. It's just he's read the script. >> just think Ridley Scott and Hugh Jackman
- 35:16are a strange choice for this. >> Yeah. You think he's going to sing and dance
- 35:21in it? >> If he gets his way.
- 35:24>> He's going to have adamantium claws.
- 35:30>> No, they killed him, remember? >> Yeah, they Well, they they brought him back.
- 35:35>> They did, didn't they? >> Ryan Reynolds brought him back.
- 35:38Everybody hates Ryan Reynolds now. Have we talked about this?
- 35:41>> I've sort of seen Yeah, a lot of people have really just
- 35:44>> Yeah, how do you feel about him? Can we get a Ryan Reynolds update from Luke?
- 35:48>> I haven't seen him do anything fun lately. The movies that he's made.
- 35:52>> Because I think he's hiding. >> [laughter] >> Because of all this stuff with his wife.
- 35:59Every I I I said I I don't know enough about this to be informed. >> No.
- 36:03>> That's the thing. I just know >> Neither do I.
- 36:06>> She did that movie with that director. >> And then really there's something that
- 36:10happened on that set. >> Yeah, something happened. She accused
- 36:14him of being inappropriate, and then it was a whole big thing, and then they
- 36:19uh the the from what I understand
- 36:23Ryan Reynolds and her, Blake Lively, did this big smear campaign. This is
- 36:28allegedly, right? Also allegedly and also filtered through me a dummy idiot
- 36:32who doesn't know anything. So don't [laughter] don't sue me, all right? This
- 36:35is what I think happened. They did some smear campaign and everybody just
- 36:38[ __ ] hates them. >> Yep. >> Especially her. >> Every Also I think there was a lawsuit
- 36:44cuz apparently there was a character with they went was a lot like whoever
- 36:47the other guy is and they killed him off in Deadpool and it was meant to be a
- 36:53>> There's a lot of like weird petty stuff, it seems like. >> Yeah.
- 36:56>> And then and then now it's like uh you start start seeing these articles
- 37:00about how everybody's just sick of Ryan Reynolds trying to make everything about
- 37:03him. I think we talked about that briefly a while ago.
- 37:06>> And then but I'm like, oh that's all coming from this stuff. Anyway, point being
- 37:10>> I used to like it cuz he used to go through he make stuff like
- 37:14stuff that was like direct to Netflix type of >> Sure, like Free Guy Man and all that
- 37:19stuff. >> Free Guy Man. Oh, Free Guy Man wasn't. Free Guy Man was was moved up like Red
- 37:23with The Rock. He done Free Guy Man with The Rock and things like that which were
- 37:28just fun movies which I thought. And then Yeah, I haven't heard anything about
- 37:33from him changing his shirt admitting a goal watching Wrexham.
- 37:39That's the last honestly the last thing I heard about him was yeah, he had a
- 37:41wardrobe change while watching the game and missed a goal.
- 37:46>> What is Ryan Reynolds doing these days? Let's see.
- 37:51>> Must be up to something. >> Oh. He's doing a sailing adventure series
- 37:57with Hugh Jackman. Not Treasure Island. >> [laughter] >> A sailing uh thing.
- 38:04Uh >> Is it just >> Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively have
- 38:07recently been navigating intense public and legal scrutiny surrounding her legal
- 38:11battles with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni. >> Okay.
- 38:17>> Reports suggest the couple has been considering a move to the UK to seek a
- 38:20fresh start and escape the domestic tabloid drama while also being closer to Wrexham.
- 38:25>> I'm just going to point out there to escape tabloid drama, the UK's not
- 38:32the best place to [laughter] be. >> [gasps] >> Yeah, that's what I was saying. Yeah, I
- 38:36know, but like maybe people don't care about him as much over there, you know? >> Yeah.
- 38:43But yeah, I I I just yeah, I just from my feeling, if I was to look at where
- 38:47where in the world is the worst place for tabloids, I'm going to UK. >> You reckon?
- 38:51>> Yeah. >> That might be true, I don't know. America's pretty bad. But yeah.
- 38:57>> No, no, just in my head, just UK's always been worse. Maybe it's just cuz
- 39:01they killed Di. >> Yeah. Well, that was in Paris, yeah.
- 39:05>> Yeah, but that was all the same. People on motorbikes, paparazzi trying
- 39:10to track him down for that one photo. Just leave people alone. >> Yeah.
- 39:15He's still hung up on Princess Diana. >> [laughter] >> Speaking of the UK, >> Yes.
- 39:21>> We've got some UK computer news. >> Ooh. >> And now, we discussed this briefly
- 39:27during the week. >> Mhm. >> Uh as I think we mentioned previously,
- 39:33YouTuber Christian What's his name? Uh Perifractic. >> Yeah.
- 39:39>> I can't remember his his surname. Uh he has purchased He's the CEO of
- 39:43Commodore. He purchased Commodore. >> It still just blows my mind. >> [laughter]
- 39:48>> Uh hang on. What's his his name? Uh not that it matters, but Christian Simpson.
- 39:53Bought Commodore. He's the CEO of Commodore now. Uh blew everybody's minds. He's like his
- 39:59YouTube content has stopped cuz I guess he's too [ __ ] busy now. So, like all
- 40:04his YouTube content is based just around Commodore stuff. He used to do all the
- 40:06retro recipes, um retro gaming content, all this kind of
- 40:11stuff. Uh I checked, he hasn't done anything like that in ages. I guess
- 40:14unfortunately just doesn't have time now, which is a shame, cuz I really
- 40:16liked his YouTube content. Um He
- 40:21uh they released the Commodore 64 Ultimate, which is a version of the
- 40:25Commodore 64 computer that's modern, right? And and everyone get five-star
- 40:30reviews, brilliant, okay? This is the best version of this computer from the
- 40:34'80s that you can get, good stuff, right? But where do you go from there? >> Exactly.
- 40:39>> Right? You can't just keep doing that forever. >> No, because the people who
- 40:43say this is awesome, they've already got it. >> Exactly. Yeah, you bought that now.
- 40:47That's the best Commodore 64. >> Yep. >> What else is Commodore going to do? They
- 40:51don't People keep saying they need to do an Amiga. They don't own the rights to
- 40:54Amiga, right? They need to People just get off their backs about that, right?
- 40:59He doesn't He can't do that. It's not possible. >> Mhm. >> So, what do you do?
- 41:04>> You make an amazing phone. >> You make a flip phone, apparently.
- 41:09And this has been very contentious. >> What really? I'm all in on this phone.
- 41:14>> Really? Okay, cool. All right, good. I'm glad we could talk about it. So, this phone
- 41:20if you watched Retro Recipes, you would know that Perifractic
- 41:26does not like modern phones. He does not like social media. He thinks we're
- 41:30addicted to our phones. He's got videos about different ways that he's tried to
- 41:33like wean himself off social media and use his phone less than be more present,
- 41:37this kind of thing. It's a big a big thing for him. Like he genuinely
- 41:41seems to really care about it, right? >> Yep. >> So, this phone is, I think,
- 41:48very on brand. It's very Perifractic. It's a flip phone with no social media.
- 41:54>> Yep. >> Um it's Android. It runs Android.
- 41:58>> Well, well, it says it it'll run 99% of Android apps with all the apps.
- 42:03>> not Android. It's uh it's it's a uh Sailfish, [ __ ] whatever it is. Uh
- 42:09Sailfish OS, which is a third-party OS. You're absolutely right. >> Yep.
- 42:13>> It's not Android. It just runs Android apps. Uh and
- 42:18it's blocks at I guess the operating system level social media and browsers.
- 42:24You can't even It doesn't even have a web browser because, and he was asked
- 42:27about this in the comments >> Mhm. >> on the YouTube video, people People have
- 42:31been very harsh on this. Uh he asked about cuz it He said
- 42:35browsers are just the back door to do all that stuff again. And the whole
- 42:37point of the the whole point of this the ethos of this phone is no, you can't do
- 42:42any of that stuff. It's got uh um but it It's so one of the problems
- 42:48people have is, right, when you try and go off a modern phone, you go to a flip
- 42:51phone, you can't do things that you need to do. >> Mhm. >> [clears throat] >> Because
- 42:56a lot of stuff now assumes that you will have a phone. >> Yes.
- 42:59>> Like so maps uh banking apps uh you know,
- 43:05uh WhatsApp and and messaging in a lot of countries you have to have something
- 43:09like WhatsApp because they don't have SMSs are still [ __ ] expensive
- 43:12apparently around the world. >> Yeah. >> So this still does that stuff.
- 43:18>> Right, exactly. >> Yep, everyone. >> Yeah. And like that's how we talk on WhatsApp
- 43:23cuz we're in different countries. All right, and so it it still has that
- 43:25stuff. It just doesn't have like Facebook or or Twitter or any of that kind of thing. Um
- 43:30>> The only thing I need to check is is which I know maybe goes a little bit
- 43:34against the social media I want to see if it's got YouTube cuz that's I still use YouTube.
- 43:39>> it doesn't. >> But I bet it doesn't. >> Yeah. You can do that on your computer.
- 43:43I think that's that's the point is that you should be doing that on your
- 43:45computer perhaps or your TV. >> Well, that's fine. I'll just install Audible.
- 43:51>> Yep. Well, hopefully it still allows you to do that. >> Yep. >> But uh yeah, uh
- 43:57it's interesting. It looks very retro intentionally. >> Mhm.
- 44:03>> Um and it's it's a Commodore flip phone. >> It's a Yeah, it's a smart dumb phone or
- 44:08a dumb smart phone depending on how you want to look at it. >> Mhm. Um the main
- 44:14issue people have had with this, even if you agree that it's a good idea,
- 44:19is that it's quite expensive. And uh he's pointing out in the comments
- 44:26it's still cheaper than what they would say is the equivalent, which is fair.
- 44:32But I think the problem is people are comparing this to
- 44:36the less capable flip phones. The other ones that you know I said like you get a
- 44:40flip phone that can't do anything. >> Yeah. >> This is not that. This is a flip phone
- 44:44that's very capable. It just has very specific things that that that it's not >> Yeah.
- 44:49>> to do. Like they don't want to >> between the both of them. Like it's not
- 44:54>> Right. And so this is 500 bucks.
- 44:57Uh I think
- 45:01full price is five for a 549 US. I think it's 590 There's been some confusion.
- 45:07Originally it was 50 bucks off if you pre-ordered, now it's 100. So, I don't
- 45:10know if the price reflects correctly. But it's basically everyone's like it's 500 bucks.
- 45:16>> Yeah. >> And then people have said that's insane for what this is.
- 45:21But I don't know. Like I think they're not going to sell
- 45:26[ __ ] billions of these. So, >> No. >> that price point probably reflects
- 45:31realistic ideas about what it costs to to make versus So, how much they're
- 45:35going to sell like >> Look, this isn't going to compete
- 45:37against Apple or Google or anything for the market share. Like it's
- 45:43>> No. Uh I don't know. I think this is interesting. I'm
- 45:48like I I mean it's not for me. I don't think. >> I'm thinking about it.
- 45:55>> Yeah? [clears throat] Man, I would love it if you did cuz I
- 45:57would love to know what it's like. >> I think it'd would a great phone to travel with.
- 46:04>> Yeah? >> Yeah. This makes my something I'd buy to
- 46:09travel with. Just it's cuz I'm going to guess the battery life will be better. >> Yes.
- 46:15In particular, it doesn't have 5G or anything. It's got It's only 4G because
- 46:18I think the trade-off was well, you don't need it. Cuz 5G is for like
- 46:21massive content streaming, which is this doesn't do. >> Yeah. >> So, it's got 4G
- 46:26uh which allows the battery life to be infinitely longer. >> Yep.
- 46:31>> Not infinitely. You know what I mean. I'm being hyperbolic. >> [laughter]
- 46:34>> But, still going to be a lot better than yeah. Yeah.
- 46:40I'm joining the wait list. >> Are you? >> I'm doing it. >> Neat.
- 46:47You know what? I'll do it, too.
- 46:52I want to be supportive. >> What [laughter] is it?
- 46:55>> Here's the code. I'm not going to say what the code is. Don't say the code out loud.
- 46:58>> No. >> That would be hilarious. [laughter] Very practical you watching that made me
- 47:02laugh. >> I can use But, I can use this on the at checkout on the 30th of June for a
- 47:07total of $100 off. >> That's very funny. Um >> Well, I'm seriously considering it
- 47:13though cuz it's available in Australia. >> Yeah.
- 47:19Yeah. I mean, that's the thing. I I think they would want it
- 47:22internationally, too. I I think this is an This is clearly a niche product. >> Yes.
- 47:26>> Right, clearly. So, wide availability I think would be necessary cuz again, they
- 47:30have to >> It comes in white, silver, >> Yeah. >> beige, Starlight Edition, or the
- 47:35Founders Edition. The Founders Edition is just gold and
- 47:40>> Yeah, people are comparing it to the Trump phone. >> Yeah.
- 47:43>> Unfortunately. Oh, by the way, >> Mhm. >> the Trump phone came out. Uh let's not
- 47:48mix that in with this. >> We'll >> [laughter] >> We'll come We'll come back to that.
- 47:50>> We'll come back to that. Let's go back to that. Cuz I don't want to I don't
- 47:52want to associate them in any way. This is not I the Trump phone.
- 47:56>> Well, I'm tossing up between the beige and the starlight edition.
- 47:59I'll probably go to the beige actually. >> Yeah, I think. >> Just that classic
- 48:05>> Yeah, it looks like a Commodore 64. >> Yeah. >> Or 64C. >> Yeah.
- 48:11>> Which is my Commodore 64. >> A prototype. So actually still was quite cool.
- 48:18>> I don't know. There I don't hate this as much as some people in the comments do. I
- 48:23said it's been feedback has been like pretty harsh. >> Um
- 48:27>> And like clearly this isn't for everybody, but I don't know. I feel like
- 48:30it deserves deserves a shot. Like >> Yeah. >> I think it's a cool idea. It's very like
- 48:36when I saw it, I guess because I'm familiar with his content, I was like,
- 48:41"Oh, okay. This is he made a phone for himself. Like >> Mhm. >> [clears throat] >> And
- 48:46>> Yeah. >> like I feel like that's not a bad idea is like you have you have a specific
- 48:51need. There will be others who have that need or want. Like it's not not a bad idea.
- 48:58>> Well, there if you go down and have a look at like
- 49:02a prototype of the phone, he's got like he's comparing to like the other phones
- 49:05out there like light phone three. Like it doesn't come with WhatsApp, ride
- 49:08share, ride share. It doesn't come with battery swaps or anything. >> Mhm.
- 49:14Yeah, the light phone is like a um uh what was it? E ink kind of looking thing.
- 49:20>> Yeah, which is like $300 more expensive than what this Commodore one's going to
- 49:24be. Like >> Yeah. >> What are people complaining about? >> Well, I think
- 49:31one of the things I was just you know, just don't install Facebook on your on your phone.
- 49:35>> Yeah, but that that that doesn't work. >> Yeah, I know. I know. Yeah. I mean
- 49:42>> I and if he was to put it out there and make it the same as it it's going to the
- 49:45price is going to jump up because it's going to have to be 5G. It's going to
- 49:49have to have a Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Otherwise people would be complaining
- 49:53it's too slow and battery doesn't last and things like that. So, there's no way
- 49:59it's going to win, but I think I might buy one. >> All right. Well, I'm that's very
- 50:05interesting. I would love to hear what you think if you do.
- 50:09Uh I wish them the best of success. I people are saying, you know, all the uh
- 50:13Commodores, you know, uh Commodore's gone again. Like, they're
- 50:17being very negative about it. Um Yeah, I don't know.
- 50:22I hopefully that's not the case. I hope this is as big a success as they need it to be
- 50:27to to do whatever they got. He also said, to be clear, there's other stuff coming.
- 50:31>> Yes. It has to be as well. >> This isn't the This isn't all Commodores
- 50:36got going on. He was very clear about that. So, if this is not for you, fine.
- 50:42>> There's more to come. >> But, again, they can't just make
- 50:45Commodore 64 versions [laughter] forever, right? So,
- 50:51>> Like, if this was all they were going to do, yes, the business is over, but I
- 50:55doubt this is Yeah, this is not what they have planned cuz >> No.
- 50:59They've got more stuff coming. >> I'm interested to see what they've got coming next.
- 51:03>> Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, it's called the Call
- 51:07Back. Uh go to commodore.net if you are interested in checking it out. Uh we
- 51:13don't get anything for talking about it. I just like I said, I just
- 51:16I like Petro Fraktik. I wish him the best of luck with this. I'm interested
- 51:21to see where this goes. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. >> A lot of It's just You just wait and
- 51:28see. >> Yeah. Yes.
- 51:33Um we've got some more video game news we should talk about. We have mentioned
- 51:38before, I believe, that there is the Stop Destroying Video Games European
- 51:43Citizens Initiative, Yes, was an attempt to have
- 51:50the European Commission step in and prevent studios or publishers from
- 51:56shutting down game servers for games that require them. So basically making
- 52:01games unplayable after people purchase them.
- 52:04Which I think is a noble cause. However, the European Commission has announced
- 52:11they will engage with the industry to work through it, but they cannot propose
- 52:16a legal obligation to keep video games playable. They cannot make it illegal
- 52:21for them to do this. >> See, well, here's the thing. They're not actually
- 52:25They don't actually want them to make it They don't want to make it legal for
- 52:31them to support the game forever. >> Right. >> They just want it to be let people take
- 52:37over. Like let people be able to >> Sure. >> host the servers or games or whatever
- 52:44they need anymore. Don't just Sorry, we're flicking off our servers and you
- 52:48cannot play this game ever again. >> Well, I think I think what they're
- 52:51saying is they can't or they're not going to for whatever reason step in and
- 52:56make a law that that does anything to do with that. They'll just They'll work
- 53:00with They'll work with them to try and figure it out. But they're not going to make a law
- 53:06>> It's such a shame cuz if it was going to come from anywhere, it was going to be
- 53:09the European Commission. >> Yeah. Yeah, I think people were trying to have
- 53:14them make it illegal. >> Mhm. >> And I think that's this is their saying,
- 53:19"No, we can't do that." >> Can't do that. >> But maybe we can figure something out.
- 53:22>> And I hope that and I think that's all people want is to figure something out.
- 53:26Like they understand I don't think a lot of people that even behind this issue
- 53:30understand that a company can't just keep pouring money into keep servers up
- 53:36for the three players that are still playing. Like that's >> Yeah, exactly.
- 53:39>> fair on the company. >> business. It's not a >> But they should on the other side
- 53:45hand over like go, "Hey, look, here's the code if you need someone wants to
- 53:49take this over or run with it or do what you want to do to make your own and
- 53:52we'll stay out of your way." type of thing. >> Yeah, cuz people also feel like, "Oh,
- 53:56make it sing make them single player. Make a single player offline mode." It's
- 53:59like, "Yeah, but that takes resources, time and money." Like, they don't have
- 54:02that. Especially if it's the tail end of the game. >> Yeah.
- 54:05>> Like, that's the There's the way they're shutting it down is cuz it's not making
- 54:07any money. >> Yeah, they're shutting it down cuz no one's playing anymore. The only reason
- 54:11you're worked up about it is cuz you've heard it's going away. >> Yeah. >> [laughter]
- 54:15>> Yeah. Yeah. So, uh unfortunate news for those who wanted
- 54:21that. It's not happening. >> Well, hopefully they can still have a
- 54:24that conversation can still lead to something. >> Yeah. >> To a middle ground.
- 54:31>> Yes. Figure something out. >> Yeah. >> Yeah.
- 54:37>> We'll wait and see. But, before we move on, we did say we're
- 54:41going to talk about the Trump phone. >> Oh, yeah. Sorry. Good point. Yeah, so
- 54:45somebody got one. Um >> Yeah. >> It's uh it's not very good, I guess. >> No.
- 54:51No, it's just a >> a plastic >> re-skin of something else. >> Yeah, it's a HTC >> Yeah.
- 54:57>> phone. Not made in America. >> It says it's assembled. >> Yeah, is it
- 55:03>> How much of it is assembled? I reckon >> He was skeptical. He said, "Well, I'll
- 55:06put in the box in America, perhaps." >> [laughter]
- 55:09>> I know. I reckon they may have put the case on. >> Oh, yeah. The plastic case swap.
- 55:14>> The plastic case swap. That that's it. >> Mhm. It's supposed to be gold. It's yellow.
- 55:19Um >> Oh, really? >> Yeah, it's the like he's Yeah, he said
- 55:23it's not cuz he he did a comparison. He's got uh this is I forget the name of
- 55:27the YouTuber. But, he on Amazon you can buy they're like gold
- 55:33plated uh golf balls. And they actually it's actual gold plating and I he said
- 55:38he I think he said he paid like 50 bucks for three of them. And the surface area
- 55:43of one of those is probably more than the phone
- 55:49because they're round and they've got all the dimples and stuff like that.
- 55:51Like certainly the three of them together it wouldn't have cost more than $50.
- 55:56Whatever it cost them to do the golf balls in theory you could have done that to
- 56:00the phone. It wouldn't have added much to the price. So >> Yeah.
- 56:03A lot of people started thinking that they just were hoping that people would
- 56:07have forgotten about the phone by now. >> [laughter] >> And now they've been oh [ __ ] we
- 56:12actually have to make this now. >> Yeah. >> Cuz I don't think they got the amount of
- 56:16people pre-ordering that they were hoping for. >> No. >> So
- 56:22and this is definitely not the phone that they were promised to begin with.
- 56:26>> No. No, I don't I mean I don't understand it at all to be honest. >> Well
- 56:30>> like the I don't understand why they made this. I don't understand why people
- 56:33would want this. I just don't understand. It's so strange.
- 56:38>> Trump just wants his name out there. >> I know. I know but Is this like
- 56:44>> if it's good or bad. >> My first thought is and I'm not accusing anybody of
- 56:51anything. I'm just going to say this. My first thought is you know what what
- 56:55country has government [ __ ] issued devices? It's North Korea. >> [laughter]
- 57:01>> I'm just saying. I don't know that I want everybody using a phone
- 57:05provided by the government. >> [laughter] >> Doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
- 57:09>> Well, here's the thing. This wasn't by the government. This is nothing to do
- 57:13with him being president. >> Yeah. Sure. Sure. Sure.
- 57:18>> It's the same way that the >> My phone is ringing and it's wobbling. Just ignore that.
- 57:23>> It's the same way that was it Trump got donated an airplane, not the government.
- 57:30>> Yes, from the Saudis. Yeah. >> Yes, the Saudis donated a plane to him
- 57:34and after he's done with his presidency then it gets donated to
- 57:38Trump's charity or something. Why does a charity need a 747? >> Yeah, the
- 57:45it's not the not going to go back to the next president or anything. He's going to keep
- 57:49>> That's that's not a bribe at all. That's not That's nothing soft about that. >> No.
- 57:55Everything is fine. >> [laughter] >> Have you done the thing yet? Are you
- 58:01still going to do it? >> I finished the thing. >> What?
- 58:05>> I have finished it. Would you like to know what the thing
- 58:09is? We're at the end of We're at just about at the end of the episode. I can
- 58:12let you know what the thing was. >> and I didn't notice? >> Yep.
- 58:16>> Did you give out a code? >> I did not give out a code.
- 58:18>> I thought it was going to be something like that. >> No. >> Were you
- 58:21Were you jerking off under the table? >> No. >> No?
- 58:25>> No. So, before we started recording, my gamer score
- 58:31would have been 5,614,088.
- 58:37If I refresh this now, >> You've been playing Xbox this whole time, you son of a [ __ ]
- 58:43I warned you about this. >> [laughter] >> That Xbox should be turned on.
- 58:49>> Just refreshing just to see what's happened with my gamer score. So, remember the 614.
- 58:54Sorry, there's two games in front of me that are slowing me down. I'm currently
- 58:56being scanned. I'm now >> Scanned? >> Wait for it.
- 59:03Come on. Get yourself scanned.
- 59:06I'm now 5,618,413.
- 59:12>> So, you got achievements while we were playing. >> Yeah.
- 59:16>> Yeah, playing. We weren't playing. We were having a recording a [ __ ]
- 59:19podcast. We're professionals. >> I I played
- 59:24two games. >> What? >> For a total of 4,000 gamer score.
- 59:30It was the Summer Seaside Search where I could just turn on the game and hold Y
- 59:36and it would just go through and get me all these achievements. [laughter]
- 59:39Yeah. And then I opened up the next copy of it and did the same thing all without
- 59:43you noticing. >> Wow. You turned the sound off. I didn't
- 59:47know what you were doing and I was like and I get annoyed with you. >> [laughter]
- 59:51>> I did make sure the sound was off. >> Well done. All right. I had no idea. >> Yep.
- 59:57>> That should not encourage you to do it again though.
- 59:59>> I I No, I just wanted to see if I could get away with it just once. >> All right.
- 1:00:04Uh my daughter has a gamer has a has a Xbox account now.
- 1:00:09>> Ooh, we have to become friends. >> She got her first achievement
- 1:00:12uh and her second achievement. So uh yeah, you'd be very proud.
- 1:00:16>> Yeah, she's coming for me. >> Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah. I'll
- 1:00:20let I'll let you know what her gamertag is. It's uh I'm not going to announce it on the
- 1:00:24show, obviously, at the moment. Maybe at some point, but not right now. I'll send
- 1:00:27it I'll let you know though. But yeah, she's very excited. Now I was
- 1:00:30excited when she got her first achievement, which was Guess what game it was? >> Bluey?
- 1:00:34>> Yes. >> Yeah. >> [laughter] >> And uh you've played the game I assume to
- 1:00:40get the achievements. You know where you do the floor is lava? >> Yes.
- 1:00:43>> And it's like a platformer type you got to jump and avoid the floor. And I find
- 1:00:47it that controls are atrocious in that game because it's like a kid She is
- 1:00:53[ __ ] good at it. >> [laughter] >> To the point where I was like, "What is happening? How
- 1:01:00How are you doing that?" She just burm burm burm burm burm and I'm like,
- 1:01:04"Fuck. All right." >> She's already out playing you.
- 1:01:09>> I'd add that, absolutely. Yeah. >> No, I'm keeping I'm keeping an eye.
- 1:01:12There's another Bluey game out at the moment, but I refuse to spend spend 60 bucks on it.
- 1:01:17>> What's the new Bluey game? >> Um Let's see.
- 1:01:23Bluey let's play. No, that's on the App Store. Quest [snorts] for the golden pen. Bluey
- 1:01:29Quest for the golden pen. >> Mhm. >> [clears throat]
- 1:01:33>> On the Nintendo Switch. Oh, look at this. Oh, wow.
- 1:01:38[ __ ] All right. >> It takes about 3 to 4 hours to get 100%
- 1:01:44of the achievements. >> [laughter] >> I don't care about that.
- 1:01:48>> But they're all just for playing in the game, which I quite like.
- 1:01:51>> Oh, okay. Quest for the golden How much is this on Xbox? Golden pen >> $60 for me.
- 1:01:58>> $40 for me. >> Um I That's a too much for what it is. That needs to
- 1:02:04be on sale. >> Yeah, how much of How much game is there here?
- 1:02:11>> About 3 to 4 hours. >> No, for you, yeah. How much Well, I got to say the other
- 1:02:18Bluey game has gotten a lot of uh given me a lot of value >> Yeah.
- 1:02:23>> She's technically played through it three times. Once on Jen's account, once on my
- 1:02:27account, and now on her own account. >> On hers. >> So.
- 1:02:31>> But it is a quite scary that it's like $60, but the size is 800 meg.
- 1:02:37>> [laughter] >> That's no reflection of the value or
- 1:02:40quality, Luke. You should know that. All right. Well, to help you fund
- 1:02:47your purchase of Bluey and the Quest for the golden pen, >> Perhaps.

- 1:02:55the after party now. >> Yes. >> And would you like to explain what the
- 1:02:58after party is, please, Luke? >> The after party is where we're going to
