- 0:16Speaker 1: We turned to Glory Podcast, knoct Over, Everybody Utter, Garbonate,
- 0:21Speaker 1: Austin Rose, go to Free Tag. We have a good
- 0:25Speaker 1: interview for you later in the episode with Jeff Warrenson,
- 0:30Speaker 1: Deck's step dad.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Check that out here at the end of the episode.
- 0:35Speaker 2: But it's Michigan State Week.
- 0:40Speaker 3: We did it, we made it. I've been looking forward
- 0:44Speaker 3: to this game. No, I don't, I don't care. Yeah,
- 0:46Speaker 3: I guess Michigan State Week last time I played the Spartans.
- 0:50Speaker 3: It's been a while. It feels like maybe not twenty
- 0:53Speaker 3: twenty three. I guess it seems longer ago, longer ago
- 0:59Speaker 3: than it actually was. That was what two years ago?
- 1:01Speaker 3: It doesn't seem like longer th two years ago we
- 1:02Speaker 3: played Michigan State. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:06Speaker 4: There.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I'm scarred by the by that last game, so it
- 1:11Speaker 1: feels like it was last.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Week at that one. Yeah, yeah, it seems about right.
- 1:16Speaker 5: Oh, that was the one.
- 1:17Speaker 6: That was the one where the I think that's the
- 1:19Speaker 6: worst repping game I've ever saw in my life. Not
- 1:22Speaker 6: because I had one hundred dollars on the game, That's
- 1:24Speaker 6: not why.
- 1:25Speaker 5: But I'm dead at im dead.
- 1:27Speaker 6: Seriously, do you guys remember that Passinger fans across the
- 1:30Speaker 6: middle of that game where the guy just got.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Decked, kind of vaguely remember it.
- 1:36Speaker 6: Yeah, and there was other calls that was in Michigan State.
- 1:40Speaker 6: Was pretty bad that game, and yeah, that's what that's
- 1:45Speaker 6: up there with one of the worst losses in a while.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that was I think Melt Tucker's first year, yep
- 1:52Speaker 1: at Michigan State. And it would have been Scott Fross. No,
- 1:57Speaker 1: I don't know, one of his last I don't know.
- 2:02Speaker 3: First it would have Matt rules first year. Once it'd
- 2:04Speaker 3: have been twenty twenty three.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah, three, Yes, it would have been Rules first, I guess.
- 2:08Speaker 2: So yeah, maybe maybe I'm thinking of a different year.
- 2:11Speaker 3: It would have been like Tucker's last year.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I think in the couple of years before that,
- 2:15Speaker 1: I guess when Tucker was in his first year in.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Froston twenty twenty one where we lost twenty three to
- 2:20Speaker 3: twenty that one.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I all these years run together, they're all not great.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Did we win that year? Nope? I didn't think we
- 2:31Speaker 2: did either. So that's the one I'm thinking of.
- 2:32Speaker 1: The twenty twenty three year was Matt Reurle's first year,
- 2:36Speaker 1: So I I think this year is Matt Rel's thirty year, right,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and that that one Jonathan Smith's second year.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I think.
- 2:50Speaker 1: That's a big thing, right, and and we're supposed to
- 2:55Speaker 1: be a year further along than the Spartans and Jonathan
- 2:59Speaker 1: Smith at are there. So I have listened for the
- 3:05Speaker 1: first time in a while to a couple of podcasts
- 3:08Speaker 1: that were Michigan State based, which I kind of forgot
- 3:13Speaker 1: how good of info you get from that and what
- 3:19Speaker 1: their perspective is on things in Michigan State's in a
- 3:23Speaker 1: place right now that they're not necessarily feeling really good
- 3:29Speaker 1: about Jonathan Smith, but they're not like get rid of
- 3:32Speaker 1: them yet. Uh So what's interesting though, is like there's
- 3:37Speaker 1: people that are not happy with Jonathan Smith, and they
- 3:42Speaker 1: they also threw in the caveat that Kurt Signetti ruins
- 3:45Speaker 1: all of this because he shows that you can do
- 3:48Speaker 1: it very quickly. So again it's it's kind of more
- 3:52Speaker 1: of a traditional rebuild that he's trying to do at
- 3:56Speaker 1: Michigan State and not necessarily going poorly, but some people
- 4:01Speaker 1: want faster results, and so I think this for Michigan
- 4:05Speaker 1: State would be a big signature win on the road,
- 4:08Speaker 1: you know, kind of the magnitude of US beating Michigan
- 4:10Speaker 1: that we can't do. But they're not probably expecting to
- 4:13Speaker 1: win this one, but they feel like they have a
- 4:16Speaker 1: shot if things go well. So I didn't think I
- 4:20Speaker 1: don't think it's interesting to think about it from the
- 4:22Speaker 1: other team's perspective too, because this is a pretty.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Big game for them going on the road.
- 4:26Speaker 1: They just went to USC and played a pretty decent
- 4:30Speaker 1: game and weren't able to win, though, So.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I thought that I thought that's an interesting thing.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I forget that's also very good insight when we're so
- 4:40Speaker 1: ingrained in Nebraska media to listen to some other school's opinions.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess I'm trying to remember what my opinion
- 4:53Speaker 3: was Jonathan Smith when he got hired at Michigan State,
- 4:57Speaker 3: because this is also his This is a the second year, right,
- 5:00Speaker 3: so he said. It's previously at Oregon State, which was good,
- 5:07Speaker 3: but it was also in like the PAC twelve, which
- 5:10Speaker 3: no one knows who is an actually good conference or not.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Apparently it was, but maybe it wasn't.
- 5:16Speaker 2: An organization really bad.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Now, yeah, they're really bad, so it must have been.
- 5:20Speaker 3: He must have been. I mean, he's he's probably a
- 5:23Speaker 3: good coach. It's only year two. Mel Tucker was a
- 5:28Speaker 3: really weird era for Michigan State because they had an
- 5:31Speaker 3: incredible first year and then not so great, and then
- 5:37Speaker 3: there's I'm trying to remember what the scandal was. I
- 5:39Speaker 3: feel like I had something to do with the staffer
- 5:41Speaker 3: having sex with someone. No idea White got fired.
- 5:47Speaker 2: But I don't think they were winning much either.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Yeah, they didn't win a whole lot either. So they
- 5:55Speaker 3: had that one weird year where they made the college
- 5:57Speaker 3: football playoffs and got killed. If I remember correctly, that
- 6:00Speaker 3: was early on.
- 6:01Speaker 2: It wasn't with melt Tucker. It would have been that
- 6:03Speaker 2: was a while ago.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just trying to get their recent success. But
- 6:07Speaker 3: I don't think really anything since then that year, then
- 6:09Speaker 3: the mil Tucker first year where they started out really
- 6:11Speaker 3: hot and then kind of Tucker tuckered off tailed off.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Heyo, except that what you said, what do you know
- 6:21Speaker 1: about the Spartans, I'm see.
- 6:23Speaker 6: I'm I'm surprised that they all want to fire John
- 6:26Speaker 6: Smith because, like Austin said, I feel like they've been
- 6:28Speaker 6: down for quite a while, and this is like.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Hey, did you listen to me? Though I didn't say
- 6:32Speaker 2: they all wanted to fire Jonathan Smith, but I said,
- 6:35Speaker 2: there's people that want to but not they all.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there's a there's a weird.
- 6:42Speaker 6: I feel like this is at least last couple of
- 6:46Speaker 6: times late Masian State. I know they lost twent twenty three,
- 6:48Speaker 6: that that this is like one of the better teams.
- 6:51Speaker 6: Mission States hadn't be quite a while. I feel like
- 6:57Speaker 6: they've kind of been the doormat of the Big Ten
- 6:59Speaker 6: for at least the last five years.
- 7:03Speaker 5: I can't I can't remember the.
- 7:05Speaker 6: Last time Michigan State was like, I mean, what did
- 7:07Speaker 6: they what are they made bowl game?
- 7:09Speaker 4: When?
- 7:09Speaker 5: When they made a bowl game every.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Year, probably more than Nebraska, I guarantee.
- 7:14Speaker 2: I don't know, DAK.
- 7:15Speaker 1: You're like all on like an extreme level today the
- 7:17Speaker 1: doormat of the Big Ten. I mean, come on, there's
- 7:19Speaker 1: some really bad teams in the Big Ten.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Nebraska, I play, Mission State has been no.
- 7:25Speaker 2: I mean the doormat.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Not. I would say Michigan State was kind of in
- 7:29Speaker 3: the same window as Nebraska is for a while, wherever
- 7:33Speaker 3: like hardly making bowl games or not making bowl games.
- 7:35Speaker 3: But they're tough out.
- 7:39Speaker 5: The doormat to the lower tier of the Big Ten.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I would the doormat.
- 7:46Speaker 6: Okay, yeah, but I would say they've been the lower
- 7:52Speaker 6: tier of the Big ten for the last five to
- 7:56Speaker 6: seven years, and this is and this is one of
- 7:59Speaker 6: the best teams they've had quite a while.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I'd say, yeah, I think it's still yet to be seen.
- 8:06Speaker 1: We'll get into Michigan state exactly what they're good at.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Here.
- 8:09Speaker 2: In a second, I I want to give a little rant.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I haven't ranted much this here yet, so Austin's roll
- 8:19Speaker 1: in his eyes, he's ready for it.
- 8:21Speaker 2: I'm ready.
- 8:23Speaker 3: I probably agree with this one.
- 8:24Speaker 2: If Yeah, it's not really a rant on anything Nebraska related.
- 8:27Speaker 1: But it's more of a in this actually goes back
- 8:32Speaker 1: post or pre Michigan Game two, but it's more just
- 8:37Speaker 1: how people talk and post and communicate about stats and numbers,
- 8:45Speaker 1: and it's kind of got ridiculous, I think, with some
- 8:50Speaker 1: of the things that are out there now and how
- 8:53Speaker 1: people absorb that information, be careful what you look at
- 8:59Speaker 1: first from a factual standpoint from stats and numbers, because
- 9:03Speaker 1: there are.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Fake things out there a lot.
- 9:07Speaker 1: But specifically on the stuff that is actually true and factual,
- 9:12Speaker 1: keep in mind what that data is representing and how
- 9:17Speaker 1: much to soak that in because all you hear is
- 9:19Speaker 1: when you when you put Nebraska's ranks into context or
- 9:23Speaker 1: numbers of leading the Big Ten and pass defense or
- 9:26Speaker 1: or scoring the rush numbers versus the past numbers, and
- 9:35Speaker 1: like all of the data and stuff.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I get it.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Numbers are numbers, But keep in mind two of those
- 9:40Speaker 1: games on who we played, I think everybody's really talking
- 9:46Speaker 1: up on I mean, our offense kind of you know,
- 9:48Speaker 1: if fixed its best, it's good again, our past defense
- 9:51Speaker 1: is the best ever, like yes, but two of those
- 9:56Speaker 1: games were against high school teams, and I wish there
- 10:01Speaker 1: was a kind of an easy database access out there
- 10:04Speaker 1: that you could get to two like get rid of
- 10:09Speaker 1: games that were like thirty plus point margins across the
- 10:11Speaker 1: board with everybody, because it's just not reflective of like
- 10:16Speaker 1: what your team actually is in my mind, And so
- 10:18Speaker 1: when I hear all these like numbers in different metrics
- 10:25Speaker 1: and things that Nebraska is.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Doing really really.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Well at, I take it with a very big grain assault.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Like especially now now as we get into Big Ten
- 10:36Speaker 1: play and some of those get balanced out, you can
- 10:40Speaker 1: start looking at them a little more, But as of
- 10:43Speaker 1: right now, it's hard now on the flip side that
- 10:46Speaker 1: makes the rushing stats even more concerning.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Because when you do throw those in.
- 10:52Speaker 1: There, including with the other two games, we're still very
- 10:56Speaker 1: poor when you look at it from a nationwide Now,
- 11:00Speaker 1: I do understand that other teams in the country have
- 11:03Speaker 1: played some other poor teams too, so those are also
- 11:06Speaker 1: factored in there. That that is true. But when you're
- 11:10Speaker 1: just looking at the pure numbers of whatever that may be,
- 11:15Speaker 1: I mean, Dylan Royal's numbers, I think also are probably
- 11:18Speaker 1: a little bit inflated, even though he's been very, very good.
- 11:21Speaker 3: But I would say, look at who we've played, all right, Yeah,
- 11:24Speaker 3: but I will say, like, he's been consistent for all
- 11:27Speaker 3: four games, So that'd be my counter. I was gonna
- 11:30Speaker 3: jump in on this and be like, of all the stats,
- 11:32Speaker 3: I feel like the one stat I feel the best
- 11:34Speaker 3: about is dil royland performance because he's been the most
- 11:37Speaker 3: consistent aspect of the team.
- 11:39Speaker 1: That's just the general public announcement of when you're looking
- 11:45Speaker 1: at stature listening to people talk about stats and ranking
- 11:49Speaker 1: and all of that, like, keep in mind where the
- 11:51Speaker 1: numbers are coming from and who you played, and if
- 11:54Speaker 1: that's truly a reflection of what you think of the team.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Because in my mind.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I like I've like thrown those two game is completely
- 12:00Speaker 1: out the window. Like they were again good blowout wins.
- 12:03Speaker 1: It's awesome, and some people like got really excited that
- 12:07Speaker 1: we killed people, which is great, but like, I don't
- 12:10Speaker 1: even they aren't even like processed as to me, is
- 12:13Speaker 1: like how the season is gonna go good?
- 12:15Speaker 2: They don't.
- 12:15Speaker 1: They don't impact. Now, they helped get two more wins
- 12:18Speaker 1: into a bowl game, but they don't impact how I
- 12:21Speaker 1: think these next four games need to go that that
- 12:25Speaker 1: those have no influence on my opinion of these next
- 12:27Speaker 1: four games.
- 12:30Speaker 3: I mean, you look at Michigan's they they are averaging
- 12:33Speaker 3: thirty five points a game, but who have they played?
- 12:35Speaker 2: You know, yeah, they.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Just just they still put up what thirty four points,
- 12:39Speaker 3: thirty two points against USC thirty one points. But Youngtown
- 12:45Speaker 3: State Boston College, which not a terrible team in western Michigan.
- 12:52Speaker 3: I agree, Like I remember in college, good old Suvots.
- 12:58Speaker 3: She's made the comment that you could torture and number
- 13:00Speaker 3: long enough, he'll tell you whatever you want to say.
- 13:04Speaker 3: And yeah, Nebraska, you know, people are like, oh, they're
- 13:07Speaker 3: in the top ten of offense. Before going into the
- 13:11Speaker 3: Michigan game. It was like, oh, top ten offense, defensive,
- 13:13Speaker 3: special teams. He's like, Now, I don't know if any
- 13:16Speaker 3: Nebraska fan really feels like that.
- 13:20Speaker 5: I don't.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Oh, Dak, please.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Say is with stats you're also gonna have the eye test.
- 13:28Speaker 6: I think the past defense you can see it's actually
- 13:32Speaker 6: I would say, very.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Top.
- 13:35Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a solid pass defense, Like I think the
- 13:38Speaker 6: stats and like you said with riola Oli, there is
- 13:41Speaker 6: some stats thron around. I saw his QBR's ranks below Grenowski's.
- 13:44Speaker 6: I don't know if that was a fake Twitter kind
- 13:46Speaker 6: of what it was a USC top top Big ten quarterbacks.
- 13:49Speaker 6: He's ranked eleventh in QBR, which I don't know if
- 13:52Speaker 6: QBR has gotten worse. That's a stat that I don't
- 13:54Speaker 6: believe anymore.
- 13:55Speaker 1: But da I guess yeah, to your point, I agree
- 14:00Speaker 1: that there's it reflects and still shows like, yeah, our
- 14:02Speaker 1: past defense.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Is probably our strongest unit.
- 14:06Speaker 1: We would say, now, when you look at the stats,
- 14:08Speaker 1: guess who rnks number one and past defense in the
- 14:10Speaker 1: country right now.
- 14:13Speaker 5: I actually just saw this the other day.
- 14:15Speaker 1: We do okay, So, like, do you think we have
- 14:20Speaker 1: the best pass defense in the country.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Probably not.
- 14:23Speaker 3: That's because our run defense is so bad that people
- 14:26Speaker 3: can just run it on us. Why would they throw it?
- 14:30Speaker 2: So, yeah, I'm with you, Like, I get it.
- 14:33Speaker 1: It does show stuff, But I agree that the eye
- 14:36Speaker 1: test is probably more important. But some people that don't
- 14:40Speaker 1: watch the games or rewatch or watch like as closely,
- 14:43Speaker 1: they're just seeing numbers and results and then making an
- 14:47Speaker 1: opinion off of that on social media, and like, to me,
- 14:52Speaker 1: you can't do that, Like you can, but you can't, Like,
- 14:55Speaker 1: that's not an informed, accurate thought process. I think by
- 15:00Speaker 1: just looking at numbers that are posted when there's such
- 15:02Speaker 1: a few sample size, now they'll look at it maybe
- 15:05Speaker 1: over a year long and look at it from previous years.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I you can form a lot more thoughts when there's
- 15:10Speaker 1: more than four games and two of them are against
- 15:12Speaker 1: high school teams. So that's my stat rant. But Austin,
- 15:19Speaker 1: he brought up a good point with Michigan State, Like
- 15:23Speaker 1: on the on the negative side of things, you know,
- 15:25Speaker 1: they've only played four games, but look at who they've
- 15:27Speaker 1: played and look at some of the points they've given up.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I do think that when you look at it from
- 15:34Speaker 1: that angle, you maybe can take a little bit away
- 15:37Speaker 1: that Youngstown State and obviously you know the likes of USC,
- 15:41Speaker 1: Boston College who just lost to Stanford, who I thought
- 15:44Speaker 1: Stanford was really bad coming into the year. Was gonna
- 15:47Speaker 1: be like they've given up some points to all of
- 15:52Speaker 1: these teams, and that.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Got to make you feel good as a Husker fan.
- 15:58Speaker 2: And the offense come into this league.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Plus I don't know, I at some point it would
- 16:06Speaker 3: be interesting to see they're coming off of a bye week.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Correct mm hm, so I know you know you get
- 16:15Speaker 3: a bye week after.
- 16:16Speaker 5: That as well.
- 16:17Speaker 3: So I don't know what Arthur Smith jeez, not Fucus,
- 16:27Speaker 3: I don't know his record is off of a bye
- 16:29Speaker 3: but I'd be interested to see that because we're also,
- 16:33Speaker 3: I mean, we're also coming off a bye week. I
- 16:35Speaker 3: feel like Matt rules record off of bye week is
- 16:36Speaker 3: not as good as I would like.
- 16:38Speaker 4: It to be.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Our record is not as good in general.
- 16:42Speaker 6: Where they they kind of stopped anybody yet. So this
- 16:46Speaker 6: should be a game where the offense just pops off.
- 16:49Speaker 6: I thirty five plus points is where it should be,
- 16:54Speaker 6: like like if you what Youngtown State, but at twenty
- 16:57Speaker 6: four on them something like that, and if they putting
- 17:00Speaker 6: out that many, then any team out there every time
- 17:03Speaker 6: they play have just has just torture defense like it's
- 17:06Speaker 6: it's terrible.
- 17:10Speaker 3: That's true. Western Michigan only put up six that's not torched.
- 17:14Speaker 3: That's a great.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Western Michigan.
- 17:19Speaker 1: And I think I think this offense is going to
- 17:22Speaker 1: be very excited going into this game.
- 17:25Speaker 2: On the other side of the ball at a high level.
- 17:27Speaker 2: I think that our defense has a lot of.
- 17:35Speaker 1: A lot of things to prove going into this game,
- 17:38Speaker 1: especially up front. You know, it sounds like from the
- 17:42Speaker 1: podcast I listen to, they have some NFL type receivers,
- 17:48Speaker 1: uh that Aiden Childs their quarterbacks gonna be throwing to.
- 17:51Speaker 1: And Aiden Chiles is is mobile but maybe doesn't want
- 17:56Speaker 1: to be, but is able to be, which sounds like
- 18:00Speaker 1: some of these other quarterbacks that we faced so far
- 18:02Speaker 1: this year.
- 18:03Speaker 3: He he's good and yeah he almost sixty almost seventy
- 18:08Speaker 3: percent of his passes completed with touchdown Twitter. This is
- 18:14Speaker 3: his second year, second year. He was at Oregon State
- 18:17Speaker 3: before however, like three years ago, and he was.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Good there and went with Jonathan Smith. Yeah, yeah, so
- 18:25Speaker 1: he I am also very impressed by him some of
- 18:30Speaker 1: the clips that I've seen. He I wouldn't say he's
- 18:34Speaker 1: like a top two three quarterback in the Big ten,
- 18:38Speaker 1: but I've also seen him potentially getting drafted too, so
- 18:43Speaker 1: like having some good.
- 18:46Speaker 3: On Cincinnati.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I mean I would I would probably say
- 18:50Speaker 1: say so yeah, And.
- 18:51Speaker 3: I feel like we had some issues with Sowresby on
- 18:54Speaker 3: the ground, particular not necessarily in the air.
- 18:57Speaker 1: But I would say and Child is probably better thrower
- 18:59Speaker 1: than to be potentially too, so I would agree with that.
- 19:03Speaker 6: You gotta think eight Child's I mean, he hasn't he
- 19:07Speaker 6: can run, and he hasn't done it as much as
- 19:10Speaker 6: I thought he he should this year. But but I
- 19:12Speaker 6: think this is a game where he's gonna after watching
- 19:14Speaker 6: the Michigan tape, he's gonna take off and run quite
- 19:16Speaker 6: a bit. Like there's especially come from either. I feel
- 19:19Speaker 6: like they gonna have quite a few design runs for
- 19:21Speaker 6: him and and hopefully count the buy that. I mean,
- 19:26Speaker 6: you gotta think that Dean line and linebackers especially they
- 19:29Speaker 6: got they had to stop in the quarterback running drills
- 19:34Speaker 6: all all week long.
- 19:35Speaker 2: You'd think, yeah, we'll see how many designed runs.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Specifically, I worries me more is just the after the
- 19:46Speaker 1: initial pass rush, the scrambling that like Sorsby got to us.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I thought, Underwood we did an okay, job of not
- 19:55Speaker 1: letting that get two out of hand.
- 19:57Speaker 2: But he also had a couple of long runs.
- 19:59Speaker 3: So he had a couple long runs. End, he had
- 20:01Speaker 3: a lot of bad passes when he was scrambling open receivers.
- 20:04Speaker 6: So yeah, yeah, and Charles is for sure a better
- 20:08Speaker 6: passor than Bryce underwound, we can say that.
- 20:11Speaker 3: And Chiles is not too far from Dylan Reula as
- 20:14Speaker 3: far as I'm not saying overall talent, but like looking
- 20:16Speaker 3: at this, like just the numbers this year, like he's
- 20:19Speaker 3: pretty good.
- 20:21Speaker 6: He scares me coming this week, I think he's he
- 20:26Speaker 6: It could be a shootout this weekend, and it could
- 20:29Speaker 6: come down to which quarterback plays better.
- 20:31Speaker 5: That's what I think. It will come down to.
- 20:32Speaker 3: The never win shootouts.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that that's the vibe.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Though I'm getting to a little bit, and to me,
- 20:38Speaker 1: that's scary. I don't I don't like that though. It
- 20:40Speaker 1: makes me a little uneasy being in a shootout, just
- 20:45Speaker 1: given the team that we've had and wanting to win
- 20:48Speaker 1: the game.
- 20:49Speaker 3: So I mean, yeah, because you talk about them beating
- 20:53Speaker 3: Boston College in overtime, which lost to Stanford, I mean
- 20:56Speaker 3: we beat the Boston College team in December by five points.
- 20:59Speaker 3: You know, it's like, well, I don't know what was
- 21:02Speaker 3: what was their drop off from last year to this year?
- 21:07Speaker 5: Quarterback?
- 21:09Speaker 3: Yeah, could be.
- 21:11Speaker 2: No, we didn't play castian Us.
- 21:15Speaker 3: That's right, we did.
- 21:17Speaker 5: Huh okay, not quarterback.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Then, big Nebraska fan that you are. We're going to
- 21:24Speaker 1: get to our interview here with Jeff and kind of
- 21:28Speaker 1: break this thing up, and then we will be back
- 21:30Speaker 1: after the interview with our things we're looking for and our.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Score predictions for Michigan State.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:42Speaker 6: Today, my stepdad, Jeff warns man, he's a long long
- 21:45Speaker 6: time Texas Longhorn fan. Wait, now you've you've been a
- 21:54Speaker 6: Husker fan for a long time. How long have you
- 21:56Speaker 6: had season tickets to the Oscars?
- 21:58Speaker 1: Oh?
- 21:59Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 22:00Speaker 7: Oh, I think we probably had them close to eight
- 22:03Speaker 7: years now, Okay, yeah.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Pretty close to where minor at. I think they're.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Like middle of the South Stadium or North Stadium. Uh,
- 22:20Speaker 1: not not too far from us.
- 22:22Speaker 7: Yeah about these hash mark all the way up row
- 22:26Speaker 7: eighty six or so.
- 22:30Speaker 5: After the last few years. We're lucky that you kept.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't want to elaborate on that one, and
- 22:39Speaker 1: not really.
- 22:40Speaker 7: Yeah, I think we've had a lot of a lot
- 22:43Speaker 7: of rough seasons up there.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the past eight years I think have
- 22:48Speaker 1: been some of the worst ones. I mean probably in
- 22:52Speaker 1: your lifetime for sure, but even in Dock in my lifetime.
- 22:57Speaker 7: Oh yeah, yeah, they were really rough and stupid me
- 23:01Speaker 7: I even added two more to it. So we got
- 23:05Speaker 7: we got quite a few up there, but we're still faithful.
- 23:10Speaker 4: There you go.
- 23:11Speaker 6: Well, this week, this week's Michigan State game, coming off
- 23:14Speaker 6: of bye what are you looking for this week? Like
- 23:20Speaker 6: coming off the buy that you're looking for that they
- 23:22Speaker 6: improved on the.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Most the most.
- 23:26Speaker 7: I would love to see the defense improve. I mean
- 23:32Speaker 7: the line. It seems like there's no urgency there, no
- 23:36Speaker 7: pass rush. I don't think we pressured one quarterback this year.
- 23:41Speaker 7: If we did, it was very seldom. The two holes
- 23:46Speaker 7: that we left last week, you could drove double whites
- 23:50Speaker 7: through them. I mean I could have walked through them
- 23:54Speaker 7: to score a touchdown.
- 23:56Speaker 4: We need to close that down.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Yeah, the both line of scrimage.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I think defensive line coming into the year, there were
- 24:04Speaker 1: some question marks, but the offensive line maybe it's been
- 24:07Speaker 1: a little bit of surprise as we thought maybe we
- 24:10Speaker 1: were okay in that aspect. This week it sounds like
- 24:14Speaker 1: the tackles in the situation there there, they're trying to
- 24:17Speaker 1: figure that out.
- 24:18Speaker 2: What what's your prediction for Saturday? Who are we going
- 24:21Speaker 2: to see? I guess on both both ends of the
- 24:23Speaker 2: offensive line.
- 24:25Speaker 4: You know, on that there.
- 24:27Speaker 7: I really don't know which players we might see or
- 24:32Speaker 7: any names per se. But I hope God will get
- 24:37Speaker 7: somebody to get job done.
- 24:41Speaker 1: And that's what matters. I think the big talk this
- 24:44Speaker 1: week is maybe Elijah Pritchett. I I don't know, like why.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I guess everybody's just like talking him up. Apparently he's
- 24:51Speaker 1: been grating out the best and looking the best. He
- 24:56Speaker 1: obviously is the one that's getting false starts as well,
- 24:58Speaker 1: so I'll I'll be curious to I don't. I mean,
- 25:01Speaker 1: as far as getting the job done, that's I think
- 25:03Speaker 1: number one most important on who that is, right, I'm
- 25:11Speaker 1: gonna be I'm gonna go here. Next question more big
- 25:15Speaker 1: picture with Rule and the program. Are you are you
- 25:21Speaker 1: in Unrule still in? How patient arg you with him?
- 25:24Speaker 1: And are you happy with the direction that it's going
- 25:26Speaker 1: so far?
- 25:27Speaker 7: I am happy with him so far, and I'm happy
- 25:32Speaker 7: with the direction that it's going. I mean, you've got
- 25:35Speaker 7: a lot of rebuilding to do to start with, and
- 25:39Speaker 7: that's ground zero. I mean not just on.
- 25:43Speaker 8: The football field, but the culture.
- 25:45Speaker 4: And everything else.
- 25:47Speaker 7: And I think he's bought into the Nebraska program and
- 25:53Speaker 7: I believe.
- 25:53Speaker 8: He's here to see it succeed.
- 25:57Speaker 4: So I'm big Matt Rule fan.
- 26:00Speaker 8: I like the way it's going.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and what kind of follow up? What's the bar standard?
- 26:10Speaker 1: I guess this year that we have to get for
- 26:13Speaker 1: you to feel like we're still.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Moving and heading in that right direction.
- 26:16Speaker 7: From a win total, well, I don't think it's all
- 26:20Speaker 7: based on wins and losses. However, that's what the fans
- 26:26Speaker 7: want and everything. I mean, first start, next four games
- 26:32Speaker 7: definitely need to be wins, of course, and I think
- 26:37Speaker 7: a good showing against USC would be tremendous. So no
- 26:44Speaker 7: more than three losses in my book.
- 26:49Speaker 6: So there's been a lot of talk about Ryola, especially
- 26:54Speaker 6: at the Michigan game. There's been a lot of people
- 26:56Speaker 6: saying he didn't play well, like maybe give Latifa shot.
- 26:59Speaker 6: What do you what are your thoughts on how Ryle
- 27:01Speaker 6: has improved this year or if he hasn't, or house
- 27:04Speaker 6: career's gone so far?
- 27:05Speaker 7: Nebraska, Well, I just heard night that he's so far
- 27:12Speaker 7: in the running for the Heisman number one candidate.
- 27:16Speaker 4: Either's true or not, but.
- 27:20Speaker 7: No, I think Dion's doing good for his second season
- 27:24Speaker 7: and everything. There are some things that upset me. I
- 27:28Speaker 7: don't know whether it's him or the coaching staff, but
- 27:33Speaker 7: I feel like sometimes you've got Tuckett and run dude.
- 27:38Speaker 7: And I don't know if it's coaching staff saying, hey,
- 27:42Speaker 7: we don't want you get hurt.
- 27:44Speaker 4: We don't want that.
- 27:46Speaker 7: But you know, after watching the NFL the last two years,
- 27:51Speaker 7: those quarterbacks are more of a dual threat quarterback.
- 27:56Speaker 8: And I believe we need a dual.
- 27:59Speaker 7: Threat quarterback and so that that's got to be Nebraska football.
- 28:07Speaker 2: And Jeff, I'm one hundred percent with you on that.
- 28:10Speaker 1: And I think that's where I mean, fans like us,
- 28:13Speaker 1: we struggle when you know, Dylan is a very talented
- 28:17Speaker 1: quarterback and has very strong arm, but when it's not
- 28:21Speaker 1: really the identity or the thought that you believe on
- 28:25Speaker 1: what wins gains, it makes it hard to say, well,
- 28:28Speaker 1: like you said, Tucket and run well, I mean, he
- 28:31Speaker 1: has shown that he's not capable of doing that yet,
- 28:34Speaker 1: but yet you watch all these other teams in the NFL,
- 28:37Speaker 1: but all these college teams too, that quarterbacks they're able
- 28:40Speaker 1: to they're not they don't be great runners, but they're
- 28:44Speaker 1: able to at least run when they need to. And
- 28:47Speaker 1: Dylan hasn't shown that yet. Now, maybe that's the wrinkle
- 28:50Speaker 1: that we've been hearing something's coming this week. I don't know,
- 28:53Speaker 1: but I'm with you. That's what makes it hard. You know,
- 28:55Speaker 1: you rook for him, but you also like style wise,
- 29:00Speaker 1: it doesn't quite fit the style that you necessarily want exactly.
- 29:05Speaker 7: And you know what we've seen from Latif, I mean
- 29:10Speaker 7: that looks me like Husker quarterback for years past. There So,
- 29:16Speaker 7: and getting back to you said, the wrinkle that they're
- 29:20Speaker 7: talking about we're supposed to see this week. I just
- 29:24Speaker 7: heard something about an RB two, but I kind of
- 29:29Speaker 7: like to see whose name that comes up on.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Yeah, both Rule and Holderson mentioned that.
- 29:37Speaker 1: And something's gonna look different, and I think everybody's trying
- 29:43Speaker 1: to predict, like what that is. I my prediction on
- 29:47Speaker 1: it is a We're going to see the teeth a
- 29:51Speaker 1: little bit and some run packages. I'm to assist the
- 29:54Speaker 1: run game. That's that's where my head went. I think
- 29:56Speaker 1: some people, you know, are predicting. Is it just going
- 29:58Speaker 1: to be Mickay Nelson RB two and going to see
- 30:01Speaker 1: him play more. I've heard someone say Carter Nelson maybe
- 30:05Speaker 1: getting some snaps, which I thought was an interesting thought.
- 30:09Speaker 1: So yeah, I'm curious to what that means or if
- 30:12Speaker 1: they're just kind of pulling Michigan State strings in the pregame.
- 30:17Speaker 4: You know me interesting.
- 30:22Speaker 6: Well, here's here's a big top meeting I've talked about
- 30:26Speaker 6: and you can go off on this. What are your
- 30:28Speaker 6: thoughts on the nil right now? Era of college football,
- 30:33Speaker 6: transfer portal and all that with college football.
- 30:36Speaker 7: I've been thinking about that because I knew that was
- 30:38Speaker 7: going to come up. First of all, let's start with
- 30:43Speaker 7: Krantz for portal and and believe me, guys, it's just
- 30:47Speaker 7: my opinion.
- 30:48Speaker 4: I'm an old guy.
- 30:49Speaker 7: I'm old school, and I mean Nebraska football was basically
- 30:58Speaker 7: born and raised on the elementary football fields out were
- 31:02Speaker 7: gravel in the ten yard markers were measured with tires
- 31:08Speaker 7: embedded in the ground. And I think the transfer well
- 31:15Speaker 7: took away the homegrown all in college football, the walk
- 31:22Speaker 7: on program. Nobody had one like Nebraska did, and a
- 31:27Speaker 7: lot of those kids came from small eight man schools,
- 31:32Speaker 7: and I mean it was just redneck tough, you know.
- 31:38Speaker 7: And the transfer portal, I realized things change in times change,
- 31:44Speaker 7: so let's go along with it. And the transfer portal
- 31:49Speaker 7: it is here, that's what's here now. So my feelings
- 31:53Speaker 7: are they I'd be able to transfer one time and
- 31:59Speaker 7: let them try transfer one time once a year, and
- 32:04Speaker 7: then after you transfer one time and you want to
- 32:07Speaker 7: transfer again, make them sit out a year, lose a
- 32:11Speaker 7: year of eligibility if they want to do that. That's
- 32:15Speaker 7: my thoughts on the transfer portal. Then I l like
- 32:21Speaker 7: I said, times have changed. I believe those athletes do
- 32:25Speaker 7: deserve the money that they're making off of their likeness.
- 32:30Speaker 7: It is them that's bringing the money to the schools
- 32:34Speaker 7: and everything to watch them so that they're you know,
- 32:40Speaker 7: I'm not really against.
- 32:43Speaker 4: I think they deserve what they earn.
- 32:46Speaker 7: But then again, you turned it from college football into NFL.
- 32:54Speaker 8: It's a paid sport, which.
- 32:58Speaker 7: Kind of me to worry about teams or schools buying
- 33:05Speaker 7: their teams, and I think that takes away from college
- 33:10Speaker 7: football buying a football team.
- 33:13Speaker 6: These if these kids are going to class though, JE
- 33:15Speaker 6: have their student athletes yep, yeah.
- 33:19Speaker 8: What kind of classes were going to golf.
- 33:24Speaker 6: I totally agree with you on that transfer portal, because
- 33:27Speaker 6: if you're an eighteen year old, you can make one
- 33:29Speaker 6: bad decision, you can choose the wrong school. I think
- 33:32Speaker 6: you should be able one year.
- 33:33Speaker 5: I like that rule. One year you can or one school.
- 33:36Speaker 6: You can change two and you get one mess up
- 33:39Speaker 6: and then yep, if you want to keep doing it,
- 33:41Speaker 6: you guys sit out.
- 33:44Speaker 2: A couple of I think interesting things here.
- 33:47Speaker 4: One.
- 33:47Speaker 1: I guess the rules and legalities. Their NCAA is still
- 33:50Speaker 1: figuring out what those are, and I'll be curious. I
- 33:54Speaker 1: mean if something like this does come into place. It
- 33:57Speaker 1: was at one point in time and they had some
- 33:59Speaker 1: sort of with college basketball, some more hard hitting rules,
- 34:05Speaker 1: but now they just kind of relaxed him even more.
- 34:07Speaker 2: And I agree with you, like, what is it teaching
- 34:10Speaker 2: you know? These kids?
- 34:11Speaker 1: These still students, you know, from a decision making standpoint went,
- 34:16Speaker 1: Oh you made a bad decision. You can just change
- 34:19Speaker 1: your mind and go somewhere right else where. That doesn't
- 34:22Speaker 1: usually happen in life that way, So I definitely see that.
- 34:27Speaker 1: The other point that I liked that you mentioned was
- 34:29Speaker 1: the you know, the walk on program in Nebraska football
- 34:32Speaker 1: from the from the old days and being on the
- 34:35Speaker 1: cutting edge. I guess of toughness and strength and conditioning.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I think all of those things were very key factors
- 34:42Speaker 1: to why we were so successful back in the eighties
- 34:45Speaker 1: and nineties.
- 34:47Speaker 2: I guess, what are your thoughts on rules approach so far?
- 34:50Speaker 4: Too?
- 34:50Speaker 1: On how what he's taking. I think he's trying to
- 34:52Speaker 1: be on the cutting edge of promotion. He's got his
- 34:57Speaker 1: own podcast, He's obviously very active on social media. What
- 35:00Speaker 1: are your thoughts on him kind of going that route
- 35:03Speaker 1: and that's his way of quote unquote being on the
- 35:05Speaker 1: cutting edge.
- 35:08Speaker 7: I think it's a good outlet really for the fans
- 35:11Speaker 7: to follow him and everything. You know, it's another media
- 35:16Speaker 7: outlet to where we can get good looks at him
- 35:20Speaker 7: and everything. And you know what, if he's going to
- 35:24Speaker 7: keep everybody up to date it on it and all
- 35:27Speaker 7: of that, I'm for it.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:32Speaker 1: I think that's kind of the approach we've taken too,
- 35:34Speaker 1: and we'll see if it pans out and works. Kind
- 35:39Speaker 1: Of going back here a little bit we mentioned the past,
- 35:42Speaker 1: I've I like asking this question to a bunch of
- 35:46Speaker 1: people that are you know, our dad's ages that that
- 35:49Speaker 1: live through the the really good times, Dak and I
- 35:53Speaker 1: aren't fortunate enough to remember.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Any of that.
- 35:58Speaker 1: What if there is one or a couple of moments,
- 36:01Speaker 1: what what moments do you think led to the start
- 36:05Speaker 1: of the downfall of Nebraska football and kind of where
- 36:08Speaker 1: we are at now?
- 36:10Speaker 2: You know, where?
- 36:10Speaker 1: Where did that kind of start from when things are
- 36:13Speaker 1: really good to now when things aren't so good?
- 36:16Speaker 7: I believe it all started from the ministration when they
- 36:21Speaker 7: made the decision to fire coach Solidge.
- 36:25Speaker 4: Okay, right then and there, starting on the hill.
- 36:33Speaker 1: It's it's interesting to hear that's a very common pinpoint.
- 36:37Speaker 1: And then in conjunction with the hiring of Bill Callahan.
- 36:45Speaker 2: You know, I think I obviously was part of that success, right, So.
- 36:53Speaker 7: I don't really think it would have mattered who you
- 36:56Speaker 7: hired after that, unless I still would have been somebody
- 37:02Speaker 7: from within the program, within the Nebraska program that knew
- 37:07Speaker 7: the culture, knew the program, knew what coach O had
- 37:12Speaker 7: instilled for years and years, and was passed on by Devanny.
- 37:19Speaker 7: I mean, so I don't think it would have mattered
- 37:22Speaker 7: who you would have hired.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, I like it.
- 37:29Speaker 6: Yeah, it seems like it seems like everybody like our
- 37:32Speaker 6: Dad's and everything says that that is the main turning point.
- 37:34Speaker 6: Like when Soul it wasn't. And there was a lot
- 37:37Speaker 6: of stuff that went down with him too. Now if
- 37:42Speaker 6: you should got fired, now there's people on both sides.
- 37:44Speaker 6: But are aren't you still in the train chef that
- 37:49Speaker 6: they should have kept Scott Frost?
- 37:52Speaker 7: Excuse me, I don't you were kind of breaking up there,
- 37:57Speaker 7: but no, no, he was not the fifth for the
- 38:03Speaker 7: program to turn it around.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I guess tying along with that, I think
- 38:11Speaker 1: everyone when it started, right when Scott Frost came, maybe
- 38:14Speaker 1: I'm wrong, was very happy that Scott Fross was back
- 38:19Speaker 1: and he was supposed to be, you know, the golden
- 38:21Speaker 1: child and save the program.
- 38:22Speaker 2: And I assume you were in that same boat.
- 38:24Speaker 1: At what point in time did you kind of let
- 38:26Speaker 1: that go and be like, all right, we got to
- 38:27Speaker 1: move on.
- 38:29Speaker 4: I was.
- 38:32Speaker 8: When I decided we need to move on.
- 38:36Speaker 7: Was when we weren't getting no progress made of.
- 38:45Speaker 4: Returning to glory.
- 38:47Speaker 7: And that's another question for you Hunter later on. But
- 38:54Speaker 7: he wasn't making no progress. And you hear a lot
- 38:58Speaker 7: of things from the media and and what was going
- 39:02Speaker 7: on behind the scenes, and and I don't think that's
- 39:06Speaker 7: Nebraska character. And I think they parted Way's best amical
- 39:13Speaker 7: way they could have with him, and I wish him
- 39:16Speaker 7: a lot down there, but Nebraska wasn't place for him
- 39:21Speaker 7: no more.
- 39:22Speaker 6: Now, what are your what are your thoughts on? And
- 39:25Speaker 6: he's kind of burning, feeling the fire, I think, but
- 39:27Speaker 6: his thoughts your thoughts on? When he said he took
- 39:29Speaker 6: the wrong job.
- 39:32Speaker 4: You know.
- 39:36Speaker 8: That's him, that's in his mind.
- 39:41Speaker 7: And if he maddened as a downgrade to the program
- 39:47Speaker 7: or whatever, he's the one that did it. So you know,
- 39:53Speaker 7: taking the wrong job and performing poorly at the wrong
- 39:58Speaker 7: job is two different things. Yeah, ye, that would never
- 40:04Speaker 7: happen out in the real world.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Agreed.
- 40:09Speaker 1: I got one final question here for you, and Dak
- 40:11Speaker 1: failed to mention this at the top.
- 40:12Speaker 4: But.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Jeff is the host of our tailgate that we go
- 40:19Speaker 1: to every week every home game, and I guess I
- 40:22Speaker 1: want to say thank you for everything that you do
- 40:24Speaker 1: and allow you know us as all of our friend
- 40:26Speaker 1: group and family to come and join every week. You know,
- 40:30Speaker 1: the food is always very good, and what's your favorite
- 40:34Speaker 1: tailgate meal to prepare for your guests?
- 40:40Speaker 7: Well, I'll tell you what A lot of that credit
- 40:43Speaker 7: needs to go to my wife Keina. She's the one
- 40:47Speaker 7: that she preps all week long for the game, and
- 40:52Speaker 7: we all do and we.
- 40:54Speaker 8: Love to have you guys. We love to have everybody there.
- 40:58Speaker 7: I got to break that down though, into three different
- 41:02Speaker 7: favorite foods, Hunter, Okay, because we have three different kick
- 41:09Speaker 7: the ten o'clock kick early morning, I liked the eggs, kegs,
- 41:16Speaker 7: biscuits and gravy, and then football, so coach rule, add
- 41:22Speaker 7: biscuits and gravy to that. For the midday kicks two
- 41:28Speaker 7: thirty three o'clock kicks. I've really enjoyed your dad's caso,
- 41:37Speaker 7: your dad's cowboy caso.
- 41:39Speaker 4: I helped him prepare that.
- 41:40Speaker 7: A few times, and that is something that you.
- 41:46Speaker 4: Got tried to believe.
- 41:49Speaker 7: Then for the late nights here, about three years ago
- 41:53Speaker 7: or so, we did a bunch of smoked ribs and
- 41:57Speaker 7: I really liked smoked ribs for the night kick.
- 42:01Speaker 8: So there you have it.
- 42:02Speaker 2: I love it.
- 42:03Speaker 6: Yeah, that that probably was my all time vior at
- 42:05Speaker 6: meal is that that time you have those ribs. That
- 42:08Speaker 6: that was amazing.
- 42:09Speaker 7: But yeah, Tina deserves all the credit for that and everybody.
- 42:14Speaker 7: I mean, it's a team effort, Hunter, your mom and
- 42:17Speaker 7: dad come and help out. There's numerous people and it
- 42:23Speaker 7: has grown in the last three years to a lot
- 42:27Speaker 7: of people and we just love to have fun and
- 42:32Speaker 7: support our Huskers.
- 42:34Speaker 1: And you guys got a really we got a really
- 42:36Speaker 1: great spot down there. It's in the Huddle parking lot,
- 42:39Speaker 1: that gravel a lot there caddy corner from the rail yard.
- 42:43Speaker 1: So if any listeners want to stop by and introduce yourself,
- 42:47Speaker 1: please feel free.
- 42:48Speaker 2: And go ahead.
- 42:49Speaker 4: We'll be there.
- 42:51Speaker 6: Well, hell, it's it's ready Wednesday at nine o'clock. Mom
- 42:54Speaker 6: for already cooking food for this week.
- 42:56Speaker 7: Well, we got all the toads packed. We're uh yeah,
- 43:00Speaker 7: last minute cooking tomorrow, so we'll get her all put
- 43:04Speaker 7: together and loaded up. We got diaper keg we gotta
- 43:07Speaker 7: go to Friday night, So that kind of puts the
- 43:10Speaker 7: wrench into stuff. But one question for you, Hanna is
- 43:18Speaker 7: return to glory. What is your definition of glory?
- 43:26Speaker 2: That is a great question.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Because I've actually heard this get talked about several times
- 43:33Speaker 1: on what it means for Nebraska football to be back,
- 43:37Speaker 1: and I think with the expanded playoff, some people are
- 43:41Speaker 1: defining that, you know, as being a playoff contender year
- 43:46Speaker 1: in and year out. I mean, I think as a competitor,
- 43:49Speaker 1: from my standpoint, I would take it a step further
- 43:52Speaker 1: than that. And and for me to be satisfied with
- 43:56Speaker 1: glory and be a consistent top ten team, you know,
- 44:00Speaker 1: getting to the level of where maybe you're Georgia's and
- 44:04Speaker 1: Alabama's Clemsons in recent years where they've been. I think
- 44:09Speaker 1: some people are going to check the box and be
- 44:11Speaker 1: satisfied with, you know, getting to a top twenty five,
- 44:15Speaker 1: consistent team and like I said, competing for the playoff.
- 44:18Speaker 2: But I think it goes a step further than that.
- 44:20Speaker 2: I really do.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Obviously, you got to get to be a playoff contender
- 44:23Speaker 1: before you get to that next level. But that that
- 44:26Speaker 1: to me, is where glory stops. Is when you're competing
- 44:29Speaker 1: for a national title, not just a playoff berth every year.
- 44:33Speaker 4: I like that. I like that.
- 44:36Speaker 7: So that tells me that's winning conference titles and being
- 44:41Speaker 7: in the top ten year after year correct a lot
- 44:45Speaker 7: of sense to me. And I agree with that.
- 44:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I think consistent and I do.
- 44:50Speaker 1: I do think once if we do get back to
- 44:53Speaker 1: that point where we're moving forward, a lot of people
- 44:56Speaker 1: are going to be satisfied and happy enough when we're
- 44:59Speaker 1: making playoffs. You know, once every three or four years,
- 45:02Speaker 1: people are going to say, oh, this is good enough. Well,
- 45:04Speaker 1: I mean, I think it'll it'll be interesting to see,
- 45:07Speaker 1: you know, who's pushing that needle the next step, because
- 45:10Speaker 1: I do think it's harder to do that now. It's
- 45:12Speaker 1: harder to build a dynasty as you're seeing a lot
- 45:15Speaker 1: more parody in college football with all the new things
- 45:18Speaker 1: going on. But I mean, I think that's that's the goal, right,
- 45:21Speaker 1: that's where you want to get to in the end.
- 45:25Speaker 4: I agree.
- 45:28Speaker 6: All right, we're aoulready wrap it on up here. There
- 45:32Speaker 6: is one last thing we ask everybody, what is your
- 45:34Speaker 6: core prediction for this week?
- 45:37Speaker 8: Thirty five fourteen, go bigger.
- 45:40Speaker 2: I like it the blowout. I gotta save mine for
- 45:44Speaker 2: the morning.
- 45:44Speaker 4: Deak.
- 45:45Speaker 2: I haven't decided yet.
- 45:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I haven't either. I've thought about it, and then
- 45:48Speaker 5: more I hear about it.
- 45:49Speaker 6: Then when I hear about it, it's kind of surprising
- 45:51Speaker 6: how bad Michigan State's defense is. It's it could be
- 45:54Speaker 6: a great offensive day. All right, Jeff, thank you for
- 45:58Speaker 6: joining us. Hopefully we are going to be stelebrting to
- 46:01Speaker 6: win together on Saturday.
- 46:04Speaker 7: Yes, thank you guys for having me. I really appreciate
- 46:07Speaker 7: you guys.
- 46:08Speaker 1: You bet thanks Jeff to see a Saturday go Bigrad.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Thank you Jeff again for coming on our podcast and
- 46:19Speaker 1: giving us your takes on the current team and the
- 46:23Speaker 1: past teams of Oscar football.
- 46:26Speaker 2: We're going to move into our things we expect to see.
- 46:33Speaker 2: I want to see heading into Michigan State here.
- 46:39Speaker 1: And we've had a couple of weeks by week and
- 46:43Speaker 1: we've heard a lot, and I feel like some of
- 46:45Speaker 1: the same narratives have made their way around the Husker
- 46:49Speaker 1: talk world.
- 46:51Speaker 2: I think those are pretty accurate in my mind. Start with.
- 46:59Speaker 1: The offensive line and what is going to happen here
- 47:03Speaker 1: on specifically the tackles, but the whole unit as a
- 47:08Speaker 1: whole needs to get better. The left tackle situation, and
- 47:14Speaker 1: I guess right tackle too, but left tackle, Like all
- 47:16Speaker 1: I keep hearing from people is.
- 47:17Speaker 2: That it's going to be Elijah Pritchett. And the depth
- 47:21Speaker 2: chart did come out he was listed his third.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Still, there's also a caveat by rules saying that things
- 47:27Speaker 1: are going to change all the way up up through Friday.
- 47:29Speaker 2: So I here's my take on the left tackle.
- 47:37Speaker 1: There's a reason why nothing's been decided yet because everything's
- 47:40Speaker 1: so close, and some people think that Elijah Pritchett's is
- 47:42Speaker 1: so much head and shoulders better than the others.
- 47:47Speaker 2: He could be better, But I don't think he's like
- 47:49Speaker 2: a world beater.
- 47:49Speaker 1: He's not like I am, not like Elijah Pritchett's the
- 47:53Speaker 1: solution for left tackle and that things are going to
- 47:56Speaker 1: be fixed. It's not going to be the case. If
- 47:57Speaker 1: it was, he would have started Game one. Now he
- 48:00Speaker 1: is the one that's having the fall start penalties. So
- 48:04Speaker 1: maybe that's why he's not playing as much.
- 48:05Speaker 2: I don't know, but I don't.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Think it's like a huge talent difference between those other
- 48:11Speaker 1: guys on the left side. And I feel like people
- 48:14Speaker 1: are putting him like it's it's his, it's his job,
- 48:18Speaker 1: he needs it needs to be his. Well, why hasn't
- 48:20Speaker 1: he have been the whole time? So I'm not I mean,
- 48:23Speaker 1: has he has? He looked that much better than anyone else.
- 48:25Speaker 1: I feel like he has and everybody's so high on him.
- 48:28Speaker 1: You know, maybe that's previous.
- 48:31Speaker 3: Game where all three tackles did terrible.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Yeah, so do and do I think that getting somebody
- 48:38Speaker 2: in there for being more comfortable long term?
- 48:44Speaker 1: Is that maybe tackle is one of those things that
- 48:47Speaker 1: I think someone's got to step up, and I don't
- 48:50Speaker 1: you know, I don't know who that is. Jeff mentioned
- 48:54Speaker 1: someone's got to get the job done.
- 48:57Speaker 2: I'm just still worried about that.
- 48:59Speaker 1: I don't think you're gonna That's not something to me
- 49:01Speaker 1: that's very fixable unless someone just has a mentality flip.
- 49:05Speaker 2: I don't know, but it's hard to fix a tackle spot.
- 49:09Speaker 2: There's probably some.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Technique stuff in there, but maybe they just aren't that good.
- 49:12Speaker 1: I don't know that worries me.
- 49:17Speaker 3: I mean, I will say saving Greece, Michigan State doesn't
- 49:19Speaker 3: necessarily have a great pass rush at this point. It's
- 49:23Speaker 3: not gonna be like Michigan's obviously. Yeah, we talk about
- 49:26Speaker 3: them giving up a lot of points. They've only had
- 49:30Speaker 3: six sacks on the air, and I mean six is
- 49:34Speaker 3: and the teams that they're playing, they've only gotten six sacks.
- 49:37Speaker 3: So I don't know what Nebraska's had, I guess, but
- 49:39Speaker 3: I feel like we've probably had I should have looked
- 49:43Speaker 3: this up prior. I'm just I'm not as worried about
- 49:48Speaker 3: their pass rush as I was against Michigan. So it
- 49:51Speaker 3: makes you feel a little bit better. We've also only
- 49:53Speaker 3: had six sacks, and we feel like we have a
- 49:55Speaker 3: terrible pass rush. So that makes you feel better about
- 49:58Speaker 3: our tackle situation. Maybe the.
- 50:02Speaker 6: I don't I don't know if you can tackles this
- 50:04Speaker 6: You can have for involving door and play all three.
- 50:06Speaker 5: But I think I need you guys.
- 50:08Speaker 4: Go.
- 50:08Speaker 6: When I'm out there, they struggle, You've got to put
- 50:10Speaker 6: the next one in like as quotely as possible. Just
- 50:13Speaker 6: keep on keep on bringing them all out there. I
- 50:15Speaker 6: guess I don't know.
- 50:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I mean you just run with the
- 50:18Speaker 3: high hand.
- 50:19Speaker 1: That's yeah, that approach. Those seems to be what we've
- 50:23Speaker 1: done a little bit. I haven't ever gotten to the
- 50:27Speaker 1: hot hand.
- 50:29Speaker 4: It.
- 50:30Speaker 1: So what people are wanting this week and what I
- 50:34Speaker 1: don't know if the coaches are implying this, they want
- 50:36Speaker 1: someone to actually be solidified in there and get in
- 50:39Speaker 1: a quote unquote rhythm on the left tackle side and
- 50:43Speaker 1: quit playing musical chairs with them. I just don't think
- 50:46Speaker 1: that that position is one that I mean, to an extent,
- 50:51Speaker 1: requires a lot of rhythm. But I also don't think
- 50:55Speaker 1: I think a lot of that talk to is don't
- 50:57Speaker 1: just bench somebody for false starting. I think that's where
- 51:01Speaker 1: the Elijah Pritchett stuff comes in. But again, I don't
- 51:04Speaker 1: think that Elijah Pritchett talent wise his head and shoulders
- 51:06Speaker 1: ahead of the other two to where if he does
- 51:09Speaker 1: miss a block or technique or whatever. To your point, like,
- 51:13Speaker 1: I don't think we need to just let him suffer
- 51:14Speaker 1: through if things aren't going well. I don't think he's
- 51:17Speaker 1: that good. So that that's my thought on the on
- 51:21Speaker 1: the tackle spot there, running backs and the run game specifically,
- 51:29Speaker 1: Matt Rule Dana Holgerson both alluded to some quote different
- 51:35Speaker 1: things coming this week that we're gonna see, and everybody
- 51:40Speaker 1: right now is speculating what could that be?
- 51:43Speaker 3: Nothing. I'm rolling my eyes right now.
- 51:45Speaker 2: We're going to be quote unquote surprise.
- 51:47Speaker 3: No, we're not balls. There's gonna be probably like you
- 51:51Speaker 3: probably see Corey out of the backfield once or twice.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Okay, that I like that. I didn't ever think about that.
- 51:57Speaker 2: I don't know why I didn't.
- 51:58Speaker 1: Because he's done it before, Lady, he has done before
- 52:02Speaker 1: players like him.
- 52:02Speaker 3: I benefit, yes, that would be my guess. Is what
- 52:04Speaker 3: they're alluding to is like, oh, you're going to see
- 52:06Speaker 3: a couple, You're gonna some of these wide receivers that
- 52:09Speaker 3: you know we're looking for running back depth. It's like, well,
- 52:11Speaker 3: let's just put some athletes back there.
- 52:14Speaker 5: And you're thinking it's a smug screen for Michigan State Austin.
- 52:17Speaker 3: No, Well, I think it's just coach bs is what
- 52:21Speaker 3: it is. I think it's we have these plays that
- 52:23Speaker 3: we're just going to try something new, but nothing's gonna change.
- 52:26Speaker 3: It's going to be Emitt Johnson and running ninety percent
- 52:32Speaker 3: of the time and then ten percent is still going
- 52:34Speaker 3: to be just it's gonna be different. Bag The ten
- 52:37Speaker 3: percent is gonna be different, but the ninety percent is
- 52:38Speaker 3: gonna be the exact same.
- 52:41Speaker 2: My prediction is a TJ.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Latif appearance run game that's more maybe more a little
- 52:49Speaker 1: bit of an extreme.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Yes, but I've heard of Carter Nelson prediction. I've heard.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Obviously you're traditional just Isaiah Mosey and Makai Nelson being
- 53:05Speaker 1: more involved.
- 53:08Speaker 3: If they wanted them to be more involved, they would
- 53:10Speaker 3: have been more involved by now.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Yeah, So I'm like, I don't know what the I
- 53:13Speaker 1: do like the Jakori VARDI thought, I do. I do
- 53:15Speaker 1: like that, but with the run game, like, what is
- 53:23Speaker 1: that going to look like to me, and I think
- 53:25Speaker 1: this kind of goes into the next part here, like what.
- 53:32Speaker 2: If we're not good.
- 53:33Speaker 1: At running the ball and Dana mentioned it, then we're
- 53:36Speaker 1: not going to keep running the ball.
- 53:38Speaker 2: And I do think the short.
- 53:40Speaker 1: Passes screenplays some of that stuff that we all rolled
- 53:43Speaker 1: their eyes about with Frost that might become a little
- 53:47Speaker 1: more of our run game quote unquote for this offense.
- 53:51Speaker 1: So what I'm curious and Dak, what are your thoughts,
- 53:55Speaker 1: like if the run game isn't working, but you need
- 53:58Speaker 1: to have a run game to be good in the
- 54:01Speaker 1: Big ten, do you keep well? At what point do
- 54:03Speaker 1: you stop trying it? Or do you just throw it
- 54:06Speaker 1: for four hundred and fifty yards? I feel like that's
- 54:08Speaker 1: usually the line that you think.
- 54:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I think the run game's not working
- 54:12Speaker 6: and you can figure out pretty soon you just can't
- 54:15Speaker 6: keep going to it like.
- 54:17Speaker 5: Like all game long.
- 54:18Speaker 6: If you're getting stuff whll time, I think you just
- 54:20Speaker 6: got to air it out then eventually, which you can
- 54:21Speaker 6: with Riola, which is nice years past, you just had
- 54:25Speaker 6: to stick with the run game. If it's not working,
- 54:27Speaker 6: you got to give up on it quick. And it
- 54:29Speaker 6: hasn't worked great to start the year yet, again against
- 54:33Speaker 6: the Acroney Scars.
- 54:34Speaker 5: I'm not really counting that.
- 54:37Speaker 6: Yeah, I think you gotta you gotta try it. You
- 54:39Speaker 6: have to try it out first. You can just come
- 54:41Speaker 6: in like our run game sucks and not try it.
- 54:43Speaker 6: You gotta try out for the first I'd say three
- 54:45Speaker 6: or four drives not working, then you got change the
- 54:47Speaker 6: game plan just aired out.
- 54:49Speaker 3: I mean we're running at about it's close to fifty
- 54:52Speaker 3: to fifty. It's like fifty, or we're throwing it fifty
- 54:58Speaker 3: fift passing the ball, maybe it shifts a little bit
- 55:01Speaker 3: up to like a fifty five to forty five split.
- 55:07Speaker 3: I don't know. I just keep thinking about the first
- 55:11Speaker 3: couple drives against Michigan where we ran the ball incredibly well,
- 55:15Speaker 3: and then Michigan adjusted by putting number one on the
- 55:17Speaker 3: edge and all of a sudden we couldn't do anything.
- 55:20Speaker 3: So I know it's there.
- 55:23Speaker 6: I thought there's some good holes for him, and in
- 55:26Speaker 6: that Michigan game too, like the run, the middle offensive
- 55:31Speaker 6: line made some really good holes for him to run
- 55:34Speaker 6: in that game.
- 55:38Speaker 3: I don't think a little abandon the run. I don't think.
- 55:41Speaker 3: I think it's there. Well, like I said, yeah, those
- 55:46Speaker 3: first couple times against Michigan. We moved the ball like
- 55:48Speaker 3: it seemed like five yard chunks at a time when
- 55:51Speaker 3: running it, and then all of a sudden they put
- 55:53Speaker 3: number one on the left side and our left tackle
- 55:55Speaker 3: kind of fell apart and the whole backfield just crumbled.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 56:01Speaker 1: I mean, I think that you need more games to
- 56:05Speaker 1: quote unquote abandoned the run. But any think we need
- 56:09Speaker 1: to see progress this week and whatever this new surprise is,
- 56:13Speaker 1: hopefully that helps. I think our offensive line needs to
- 56:17Speaker 1: show improvement too in that area being a being a
- 56:20Speaker 1: run the ball guy, and there's a lot of them
- 56:21Speaker 1: out there, right.
- 56:24Speaker 2: Run the ball, run the ball.
- 56:25Speaker 1: Then you run it on first and second down you
- 56:27Speaker 1: get one yard each time, and then.
- 56:30Speaker 2: Are you still yell and run the ball like that?
- 56:32Speaker 1: That's the that's the dilemma from Oscar fans, Like, if
- 56:38Speaker 1: you want to run the ball, great, but what if
- 56:39Speaker 1: you can't? And at what point is that fixable in
- 56:43Speaker 1: the short term versus you know, throughout the year from
- 56:46Speaker 1: a game to game, or is it just a bigger picture,
- 56:50Speaker 1: season long thing that we need to get a better
- 56:52Speaker 1: offensive line. I think that's also part of the answer too,
- 56:55Speaker 1: is that it's still just not a strong offensive line,
- 56:58Speaker 1: and I'm not going to say it's horrible like we've
- 57:00Speaker 1: seen in years past.
- 57:01Speaker 3: But do you guys think it's interesting that Quinton and
- 57:03Speaker 3: Ives doesn't get any carries during the actual games. He's
- 57:07Speaker 3: only gotten carries against the.
- 57:10Speaker 1: Maybe he's a surprise. I mean, you just don't know.
- 57:14Speaker 1: My last thing here for what I guess I'm going
- 57:19Speaker 1: to be looking for. What I think is going to
- 57:21Speaker 1: be a big part of the game this week is
- 57:23Speaker 1: going to be turnovers and making mistakes. We've gotten away
- 57:27Speaker 1: from that conversation this year a little bit because we
- 57:29Speaker 1: haven't made a whole lot of mistakes, which has been very,
- 57:31Speaker 1: very good.
- 57:32Speaker 2: And shooting yourselves in the foot.
- 57:36Speaker 1: I do think that's going to be a pretty big
- 57:38Speaker 1: factor here in a game that it could be a shootout.
- 57:41Speaker 2: But I think both teams.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Know they got to be sharp and crisp and execute
- 57:46Speaker 1: very very well coming off of bye week.
- 57:48Speaker 2: That's what's expected.
- 57:50Speaker 1: The team that shoots themselves in the foot, whether that
- 57:52Speaker 1: be with dumb penalties, turning the ball over, fumbles, poor
- 57:57Speaker 1: special teams play, is going to be get a big
- 57:59Speaker 1: disadvan and come Saturday.
- 58:02Speaker 2: So that's a big area. I'm looking at that.
- 58:06Speaker 1: Again, we kind of taken for granted because Eckler's doing
- 58:09Speaker 1: a damn good job of special teams, and we've kind
- 58:11Speaker 1: of cleaned that up a little bit.
- 58:12Speaker 2: But in these this game specifically, but these next four
- 58:15Speaker 2: as well.
- 58:16Speaker 1: That's going to be a big thing going in and
- 58:20Speaker 1: seeing if we can overcome some of those blunders. Even
- 58:23Speaker 1: if we have one too, can we can we move
- 58:25Speaker 1: past it and find a way to win the game?
- 58:28Speaker 3: Still, I mean, I really haven't thought about.
- 58:35Speaker 1: The actual errors, yeah, because we haven't had many.
- 58:39Speaker 3: I mean, we had the missed field goal, and then
- 58:41Speaker 3: we've had, you know, a couple of fumbles that we've recovered.
- 58:45Speaker 3: We've had a couple of miss missed interceptions where it's like, wait,
- 58:48Speaker 3: they should probably should have picked that ball off, but
- 58:50Speaker 3: they did it. But yeah, you're right, I have not
- 58:54Speaker 3: thought about it really that much at all. So hopefully
- 58:57Speaker 3: I would look more from the perspective, hopefully we see
- 59:00Speaker 3: more turnovers from them, our defense forcing more turnovers than
- 59:04Speaker 3: us playing clean, because I just I'm not worried about it.
- 59:06Speaker 3: I do think we've cleaned it up.
- 59:09Speaker 6: And it's this isn't a game that you're too worried
- 59:11Speaker 6: about because their defense is pretty bad. Like this is
- 59:14Speaker 6: a game that you're too worried about them turn the
- 59:16Speaker 6: ball over that much. It'd be more on Nebraska making
- 59:20Speaker 6: dumb mistakes turning it over, which is what he.
- 59:24Speaker 3: Doesn't want to see.
- 59:29Speaker 2: Any other thoughts Michigan State.
- 59:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't want to see Aiden Chili's, Chiles whatever
- 59:36Speaker 3: have you announced it? Childs? There we go keep for
- 59:40Speaker 3: Reid as Chili's and I was like, I know that's
- 59:42Speaker 3: about it, but that's just hungry. I am Aiden Childs.
- 59:47Speaker 3: I don't see him run all over us he's there.
- 59:50Speaker 3: I mean he doesn't. You're right, he doesn't run it
- 59:52Speaker 3: that much. He's only had forty carries. Only forty carries,
- 59:55Speaker 3: but I mean I count sacks as well. So they've
- 59:59Speaker 3: had se minus of you want to sack yards and
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: he's had one hundred and fifty rush yards so he's
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: really had like two hundred and twenty rush yards over
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: four games. That worries me, and I hope we can
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: handle that.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm I'm with you there.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: I think concerned of how that's gonna go, especially coming
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: them coming up a bye week as well, where they've
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: had more time to game plan and see where our
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: holes are at in our defense, which right now it
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: is stopping one of them, is stopping running quarterbacks.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: So I'm with you.
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: Yeah, he's going in the Michigan game. You want an
- 1:00:37Speaker 6: Underwood to throw the ball and make him not run
- 1:00:39Speaker 6: at all.
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: I don't know if you.
- 1:00:43Speaker 6: Really want Childs throwing the ball either, though he's He's
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: a lot better passer than Bryce Underwood is, So yeah.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I'm not Jack.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: I don't know which one would prefer.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm maybe a little bit. If you gave me
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: a pick to throw pass, I might still take under
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: Order over Giles.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm not. I'm not like what you
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: think of Aiden Childs being that much a better passer
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: under Rod. I'm not. I don't think he's head and shoulders.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: Shoulders, but he's better, and I would I would say
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: it's pretty close to me.
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: I should they have better receivers than Michigan, because Michigan
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: should have better receivers talent wise, But they've had better
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: receivers as far as production wise this year, for sure.
- 1:01:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm just I'm really big on any Child's I
- 1:01:30Speaker 6: don't know why.
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: I think I think he's a hell of a passer.
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: That's that's right now.
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: If I had to pick, But like I was saying,
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: if I had to pick him, probably running or throwing,
- 1:01:41Speaker 6: you probably still go throwing because of how bad the
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: run the run defense, especially quarterback wise, it has been
- 1:01:48Speaker 6: for Nebraska.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: I just want our secondary that's really, really good. Like,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: that's what I say going into Michigan. Make him throw
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: over three fifty. Put that many guys in the box
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: so that they have to throw the ball down the
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: field to beat us. I think my take is similar here,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: maybe not as extreme on Michigan State, but don't let
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: the run game. Don't let upfront be the reason why
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: we lose to Michigan State at home. Like, use our
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: strengths on our defense, which right now is our secondary,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: and see if they can exploit us back there. Right
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: I mean that maybe they can, and maybe that's the
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: thought watching film, but to me, obviously we're weaker upfront
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: and if your Michigan State, all you're trying to do
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: this week is exploit that.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: So a little bit of a chess game. Score predictions.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: Gosh, the implied point total of this is what like
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: thirty to twenty thirty to eighteen Nebraska. I think it's
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: gonna be closer than that, But I do think it's
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: probably gonna be like thirty to like twenty eight, maybe
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: thirty twenty five Nebraska. I'm gonna take us, but I
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: don't feel great about it.
- 1:03:09Speaker 6: I'm going full street out in my lock of the league,
- 1:03:11Speaker 6: right there is take the over in this game. Forty
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: five thirty five Nebraska. Wow, I do, I actually do
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: think it's gonna be shootout.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: I don't think you watched Nebraska football games because we
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: we were a clock burning team. There is not a
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: lot of.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: That's that's a very thpe like. People are predicting that
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: because they don't think Michigan State can stop anybody, and
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: they're worried that we can stop Michigan State.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: So, like I've heard, both teams are gonna both teams
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: are gonna get their points on the ground. I just
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: think the game is gonna be shortened more than people think.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: But what you can stop either team, I'm on the opposite.
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: I think both teams aren't get their points through the air.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: With like seventy percent completion rate, though, I mean, I
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: don't know. You could be right, Dak I just think
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: people Nebraska score forty points. We just don't.
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: I don't think.
- 1:03:58Speaker 6: I but in ten points of a score prediction in
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: the last two years.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: So I think our defense is going to show up
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: this week for some reason. I don't know why. I
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: feel good about it.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: And I think by getting ahead, I don't think we're
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: going to have to keep scoring necessarily. I think we're
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: going to be able to score, but I don't think
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: it's going to be as high score. And because of that,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: because I think our defense is going to play really,
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: really well. So this might be a surprise. I'm surprised.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: I don't normally do this, but I'm going thirty one
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: to thirteen Nebraska at home.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: Oh wow, blow out.
- 1:04:36Speaker 6: There's there's one more point I do want to make
- 1:04:38Speaker 6: about this game. I was thinking about this. This game
- 1:04:41Speaker 6: kind of reminds me of last year, the UCLA game.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Okay, I have the same thought. I will say that
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: I forgot it. Does it reminds me very just vibes.
- 1:04:51Speaker 6: Wise because because Nebraska was a double digit point favor
- 1:04:54Speaker 6: in that.
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: One too, right right around where we're at.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Yeah, should should win at home?
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:05:00Speaker 6: And they in Ucla kind of I would say, almost
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: dominating the rask of that game. So this is if
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: that happens again, that's where you're like, Okay, this is
- 1:05:07Speaker 6: not going the right direction.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: UCLA is in a very similar spot.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: Yep, the Michigan State is now just from a program
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: wise I mean yeah, I had that same thought to
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: Jack actually this week because I'm thinking about this game
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: and it felt very similar.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: Game.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: You should win at home, you're favored by double digits.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: It's a pretty big win to a statement to say,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: you know what, we're better than a team.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Like this at home, and then we didn't win. So
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: it's a really good point.
- 1:05:31Speaker 6: Yeah, and we all were going to you see a
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: game like there's no way to rascal lose this, and
- 1:05:35Speaker 6: that's kind of what we're doing here with the Michigan State.
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: So so let's see.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: I guess thanks for keeping my heart and check yeah
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: thirty one thirteen.
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: You want James Corporation?
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: No, all right, we're back on Monday morning.
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: Uh the resk of Volleyball Penn State Tourrow night. Yes,
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: big game, Friday night, Big game. I think it's are outrageous.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: I believe it.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: You're pay to get into that one.
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: Also check out then into brass, black cord. It's awesome.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: Dak loves that I do all right, God.
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: Give you r go be gread
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: Became a fact
