- 0:11like there's always more work at work. Uh and uh
- 0:15how do you how do you get through it?
- 0:17Speaker 2: So this is a Christmas advice segment. If you have
- 0:21a question for us, we can maybe answer it. But
- 0:23maybe you have some things, some little tips and tricks
- 0:26that you use to get through the holiday season.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I like to, for instance, I like to pretend that
- 0:31I'm not a Christian and I don't celebrate No, I
- 0:35don't celebrate it. I'm I was not raised in a
- 0:38Christian tradition. What what how do you guys make it
- 0:42through the holidays? Or do you want to ask us
- 0:44about how we make it? Or what ask us anything
- 0:47about the holidays? You mean that there's a text question.
- 0:51Speaker 3: What is a treat or something I could give my
- 0:53co workers for a little Christmas gift?
- 0:56Speaker 1: About a box of fudge covered ritz crackers.
- 0:58Speaker 4: That's a great thing.
- 1:00Speaker 1: You can find them.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, Trader Joe's has a lot of great
- 1:04do they ever holiday specific tree?
- 1:07Speaker 1: If you like Reese's peanut butter cups do not have
- 1:11the Traders Joe's almond butter cup. It's really it's it's
- 1:17it makes a peanut butter cup look like trash.
- 1:19Speaker 2: It's just but they have like Christmas themed candies and
- 1:25cookies and things that are go go to Trader Drills.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Here's a grant who needs some Christmas advice.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Hey Grant, how can we help you? Grant?
- 1:38Speaker 5: Well, my Christmas tree was doing fine drinking water, and.
- 1:41Speaker 6: About a week ago it stop drinking water.
- 1:43Speaker 5: And I don't need it to dry out on me
- 1:45before Christmas.
- 1:46Speaker 2: It's if it has stopped, you're kinda so if you
- 1:52don't keep water in it constantly, what happens is Christmas
- 1:57tree farmer here?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Well, yes, that's why he's asking you.
- 2:00Speaker 2: What happens is it's called a sap cap. It will
- 2:04cap itself off.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Can you drill a hole in it?
- 2:06Speaker 3: I mean, couldn't you take the tree and cut like
- 2:11an inch off of the true started.
- 2:14Speaker 2: If you wanted to pull it out and do all.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Or drill a hole in the bottom of it a
- 2:18little bit.
- 2:18Speaker 4: I don't know you.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Could try that, but that's what's happened. You have to
- 2:22you can't let that water ever get below the bottom.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Sorry, Grant, you're probably all right, Well, the needles are
- 2:29probably gonna fall off, and sorry Grant, it'll be a mess.
- 2:32All right, thank you, don't and don't forget. A dry
- 2:35Christmas tree is an extreme fire. See you later, Grant.
- 2:42That's good advice. All right, let's go to Brent. H Brent, Hey, Brent,
- 2:46where are you calling from.
- 2:49Speaker 6: I'm sitting in my parking lot in Lehigh at my work.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Okay, what's what can we do?
- 2:55Speaker 6: Well? I'm gonna give advice and I hope this is
- 2:57not too dark for people. Okay, but my son was
- 3:01killed in a motorcycle act two months ago, and no problem.
- 3:07It's it's been tough, obviously. But my advice, my advice
- 3:11but we're doing this year is we're overtipping. We are
- 3:17that I'm doing service and anything that we can. And
- 3:21we have a card that we're going to give to
- 3:23either the waiter, the waitresses or the people that we
- 3:25serve and has the story of our son and we
- 3:29tell them to pay it forward if they can.
- 3:31Speaker 4: What a nice.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Idea that I like? That a lot, that's just that's
- 3:36that's wonderful, Brent. Thank you.
- 3:37Speaker 2: You're finding something, So you're putting some good back into
- 3:41the world when something bad happened to you, that's where
- 3:43you go.
- 3:43Speaker 6: That's we're trying. We're trying. We're trying to. We don't
- 3:47want to sit there and mobile all the time in
- 3:49our apartment, so we're getting out there to help.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Even just that, even for people that haven't had that happen,
- 3:54just the idea of overtipping.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Thank Thanks.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Go to a good friend of the program, Alison.
- 4:05Speaker 7: Hi.
- 4:06Speaker 8: Hello, Hi.
- 4:07Speaker 7: So my advice is, so we don't have like grandkids
- 4:11or any any little ones in our family, so we
- 4:16so for for for a while now, we've separated out
- 4:20when as adults when we celebrate with the family, So
- 4:24nobody's elbowing each.
- 4:25Speaker 9: Other over Christmas.
- 4:26Speaker 7: Ever Christmas Day, I like, yeah, we just did sibling
- 4:31Christmas on Saturday. Oh, like, siblings got together on Saturday.
- 4:36My dad, my dad always claims the twenty fifth because
- 4:39he makes prim rib, but this year he's going down
- 4:43to his wife's mom's house and then all the families
- 4:46do their own thing, which leaves me the pagan to
- 4:50do her own thing. So I'm gonna go see nose Fautu.
- 4:56Speaker 2: But I like the idea of not getting hung up
- 4:59on the date. We have to do everything on christ.
- 5:02Speaker 7: No, you don't, No, you don't. You don't have to
- 5:05do anything on a day. What's What's what? Carrie says,
- 5:08traditions are just pay pressure from the past.
- 5:10Speaker 9: Or something like that.
- 5:12Speaker 1: It's so hard to convince my sister that we do
- 5:16not need to exchange gifts. She does not have to
- 5:19buy gifts for all of my children and we we
- 5:22just we need to get together, have a meal. You
- 5:25do not have to exchange exactly, you know what, my.
- 5:28Speaker 7: Husband be glad to be a family.
- 5:30Speaker 4: My husband's family.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Instead of exchanging gifts, we all put out our favorite
- 5:35charity like the Road Home or best friend's Animal Sanctuary
- 5:39or something, and then you give a donation in that
- 5:42person's name to that charity.
- 5:44Speaker 4: You don't exchange gifts.
- 5:46Speaker 2: You just donate to the charity of.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Choice, or say you're going to the Human Fund, the
- 5:51Human fun That's what I say. I say, I'm going
- 5:54to be all right, thanks Alison.
- 5:56Speaker 7: That's the same book.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Okay, well, all right, more Christmas advice. How do you

- 13:44Speaker 1: Now. Wonder were they? Were they a problem on the shelf.
- 13:48Speaker 2: It's it's stressful.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Yeah, why do it?

- 13:57Speaker 4: Right, it's another thing to remember.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Let's see make your own. Put peanut butter between two
- 14:04ritz crackers, coat and chocolate. Enjoy.

- 14:14where was it?
- 14:15Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 14:15Speaker 3: We're having our Christmas this Friday? What should we do
- 14:18on the twenty fifth?
- 14:20Speaker 1: Go see Nosferatu would be good.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Chinese food is a tradition on Christmas Day.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Just make it a cozy day. Just watch movies. Stay
- 14:30in your jammies all day. It sounds great.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Let's see, my husband and I are doing Christmas ourselves
- 14:36these years. What would you do if you had Christmas
- 14:38all to yourself. We just gave you a list of
- 14:41a bunch of stuff.

- 14:47Speaker 4: Chinese food and jammies.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Remember the War on Christmas was already won by Christians
- 14:54when they stole the tradition of the Pagans celebrating Saturnalia.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Satya was just I believe satura beginning of Saturday Aliat celebrated.
- 15:02Speaker 3: That's just in case your uncle brings it up during
- 15:04the holidays. For gift ideas, find out the other person's
- 15:08hobbies are interests and get them a gift centered around
- 15:10that pretty basic.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yeah, somebody said for the lady with the twenty two
- 15:15year old son, I have a twenty year old and
- 15:16I'm having the same problem. I bought him a big

- 15:26Speaker 3: Folks who are staying at home on Christmas. Netflix, well
- 15:31I'm going to suggest two of them. Netflix has the
- 15:34yule log, yeah, which is something that TV stations used
- 15:39to do on Christmas.
- 15:41Speaker 1: It was a loop of a Christmas I used to
- 15:45have a VCR tape of the Christmas Fire.
- 15:47Speaker 3: And it just it's Christmas music and it's just the fire.
- 15:50So it's like you have a fireplace in your house.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Well there's that one.
- 15:54Speaker 3: But now go to Max and click on adult Swim
- 15:56and there are two different ones there that are not
- 16:00traditional yulog. Fair, Okay, you're not going to say what
- 16:04they are. Well, one involves a murder, a murder for Christmas.
- 16:10It's just the shot of the shot of the whole thing,
- 16:12and then you hear sounds, you know, the cars pulling up. Oh,
- 16:16I've got to clean the I've got to clean this place.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Before the renters get here. And then you know, there's
- 16:21a knock on the door.
- 16:22Speaker 3: There's murderers, and you know, but you see the fire,
- 16:25but you hear all of these
