- 0:00Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garren. All right, well, it's sort
- 0:06Speaker 1: of a post mortem Monday because of what just happened
- 0:13Speaker 1: over the weekend with the Saint John's red storm, and
- 0:18Speaker 1: really quick on that.
- 0:20Speaker 2: I just couldn't make the basket under the hoop.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I mean it was about sixty two sixty Arkansas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: we wanted all fried Kyla Pari right, that was the
- 0:28Speaker 1: post headline, and yet they just couldn't do it. Now,
- 0:32Speaker 1: I don't understand why r. J. Lewis was on the
- 0:34Speaker 1: bench for the five minute stretch. Some say it was
- 0:38Speaker 1: his bench because of his poor play, poor behavior on
- 0:43Speaker 1: the court. I still think you should have played him.
- 0:45Speaker 1: He's the biggest player of the year for a reason.
- 0:48Speaker 1: But I digress. Patino sort of want to send a
- 0:52Speaker 1: message to the kid, and maybe that'll pay off in
- 0:54Speaker 1: the loan run. Look, this is the first step. They
- 0:57Speaker 1: won the first tournament game in twenty five ye that's
- 1:00Speaker 1: a first, and they gave Saint John's kIPS at Saint
- 1:04Speaker 1: Jed's and Saint John's alumni and friends of Saint John's.
- 1:10Speaker 2: A big hope.
- 1:10Speaker 1: And I think they can run with that hope with
- 1:13Speaker 1: some more recruiting and maybe a little more NIL funding.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I know he talks about how this team was built
- 1:20Speaker 1: on character, not funding, but maybe they do need a
- 1:22Speaker 1: little of that boost in addition to mic Repolice, you know,
- 1:28Speaker 1: rolling a bank rolling.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Of the team.
- 1:29Speaker 1: So that being said, there are a couple other stories
- 1:34Speaker 1: I want to talk about that I found out this weekend. Firstly,
- 1:38Speaker 1: did you hear what the State Department is doing? I
- 1:41Speaker 1: mean this was unbelievable. In addition to the trub administration
- 1:46Speaker 1: possibly closing down this Department of Education, which I don't understand,
- 1:52Speaker 1: the DC Examiner has said that there were cuts to
- 2:04Speaker 1: the State Department.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Funding funding the.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Programming which would help.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Track abducted Ukrainian children brought to Russia.
- 2:26Speaker 1: This is a real story, folks. Tammy Bruce, the department's
- 2:30Speaker 1: top spokesperson spokeswoman, indicated reporters of the program. Yale's School
- 2:35Speaker 1: of Public Health Humanitarian Research Lab was not aligned with
- 2:39Speaker 1: the administration's foreign policy plans and was cut. So Yale
- 2:46Speaker 1: School of Public Health Research Humanitarian Research Lab was literally
- 2:52Speaker 1: tracking tens of thousands of Ukrainian kids who had been
- 2:54Speaker 1: inducted from their homes and taken to Russia and the
- 2:58Speaker 1: DC Examiner reports, well, that funding was cut because the
- 3:03Speaker 1: administration's foreign policy and Yale's School Public Health Umanitarian Research
- 3:09Speaker 1: was not aligned. I did not realize Russian forces have
- 3:17Speaker 1: kidnapped more than nineteen thousand kids from Ukraine, some of
- 3:20Speaker 1: whom were orphaned during the war and brought back to
- 3:22Speaker 1: Russia to be given him and only about twelve hundred returned.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Trumministration Elon and I don't blame Rubio for this, really,
- 3:37Speaker 1: but Secretary of Saint Rubio reinstate that funding. While we
- 3:49Speaker 1: do want to eliminate government waste, right, we have to
- 3:52Speaker 1: be careful that the cutting doesn't affect everything.
- 4:01Speaker 2: I I wish this.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Government cutting that seems to be going on, or the
- 4:07Speaker 1: metromanization is going on, would be as precise as he
- 4:10Speaker 1: is when he fires at uh Syrian militant terrorist Bass.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I mean, the air strikes are always so precise. Why
- 4:23Speaker 1: can't they be as precise with the funding cuts and
- 4:26Speaker 1: truly analyze what should and shouldn't be kept. I mean,
- 4:31Speaker 1: this day, this, this Yale Humanitarian Research lab, above all
- 4:39Speaker 1: house was protecting Ukrainian kids. Isn't that what we wanna see?
- 4:44Speaker 1: But because all of these things are quote unquote non aligned.
- 4:47Speaker 1: They're getting the chopping block, and I just I don't
- 4:50Speaker 1: agree with it. And I think advocating for the return
- 4:55Speaker 1: of this funding and returning of other funding for grants
- 4:59Speaker 1: and whatnot is needed, is needed. So we'll keep up
- 5:04Speaker 1: at it at that on the One Leg Up Network
- 5:08Speaker 1: Alex Garrett here, and then this looks like eggs are
- 5:16Speaker 1: not American laid anymore. A report out this weekend saying
- 5:22Speaker 1: that eggs will be imported, Yes, imported from Turkey and
- 5:31Speaker 1: South Korea, according to the BBC and other outlets. A
- 5:35Speaker 1: burbloem pandemic also a reason for this, has caused the
- 5:41Speaker 1: Tumametician to import eggs from Turkey and South Korea and
- 5:45Speaker 1: other countries in hopes of using all time high prices
- 5:49Speaker 1: for the American consumer. Now, it's true, avian flu has
- 5:54Speaker 1: been rampant. It's caused closure of a few poultry shops
- 5:58Speaker 1: here in New York City along and Agricultural Secretary Brook
- 6:06Speaker 1: Rowlins says, we are talking in the hundreds of millions
- 6:09Speaker 1: of eggs for the short term. It will be a
- 6:13Speaker 1: one billion plan as well to combat a raging bird
- 6:18Speaker 1: flu pandemic which is forced US formers to cut to
- 6:23Speaker 1: call tens of millions of chickens. Cost of eggs is
- 6:29Speaker 1: projected to surge by forty one percent of twenty twenty five.
- 6:34Speaker 1: So all that to say, it's a really bad situation
- 6:41Speaker 1: when eggs eggs have to be imported from other countries.
- 6:47Speaker 1: And maybe it's a warning sign to get this bird
- 6:49Speaker 1: flu epidemic under control so that we can bring down
- 6:55Speaker 1: the prices of eggs. But it's true, m our eggs
- 7:03Speaker 1: may no longer be for a while American maid or
- 7:07Speaker 1: American lake. And if that helps us have one leg
- 7:12Speaker 1: up on our economy to fix it, so be it.
- 7:14Speaker 1: But hopefully for the bird's sake and for our sakes,
- 7:21Speaker 1: we can get it under control. A malex grit. That's
- 7:24Speaker 1: it for now on the One Leg Up Network. We'll
- 7:26Speaker 1: talk to you soon.
