- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeow, this is the Mark Simon Show on seventy tenor hey,
- 0:14Speaker 1: all right, it's enough with the Knicks. Not kidding, kidding,
- 0:17Speaker 1: we love the Knicks. The parade is getting ready to
- 0:21Speaker 1: take place. We don't know exactly when I was supposed
- 0:24Speaker 1: to be ten to noon. I see the players are
- 0:27Speaker 1: coming into the parade area. The team is coming in.
- 0:31Speaker 1: They're expecting a million people. Remember yesterday I said figured
- 0:34Speaker 1: more like two million. I'm here in three or four million. Now,
- 0:39Speaker 1: this is going to be crazy. And then you had
- 0:42Speaker 1: to line up ahead of time to be in the audience,
- 0:44Speaker 1: to be on the sidelines of the parade. But apparently
- 0:48Speaker 1: people started getting there at eleven o'clock last night. By
- 0:51Speaker 1: seven thirty this morning, it was full a maximum number
- 0:55Speaker 1: of people that can watch the parade, and they go
- 0:58Speaker 1: through you know, TSA type security, getting screened and frisked,
- 1:02Speaker 1: and so as of seven thirty this morning, the parade
- 1:06Speaker 1: crowd was totally full. There are all sorts of other
- 1:09Speaker 1: people down. I don't know what they're gonna do. They're
- 1:11Speaker 1: gonna have to watch it on their phone or something.
- 1:13Speaker 1: The ceremony will then take place at noon, maybe eleven thirty.
- 1:18Speaker 1: It was I forget the original schedule. Maybe it was
- 1:20Speaker 1: originally eleven. Now eleven thirty twelve. We'll bring you the
- 1:23Speaker 1: ceremony live and all the activity the parade. There's really
- 1:27Speaker 1: nothing to hear. It's just a lot of waving. In fact,
- 1:31Speaker 1: I don't know why you have to go down there.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Why would you want to be down there. You'll see
- 1:34Speaker 1: it much better on television. You'll hear it much better
- 1:38Speaker 1: on radio. You know, you go down there, you're going
- 1:40Speaker 1: to be behind, you know, one hundred people in front
- 1:43Speaker 1: of you, and what are you going to see? The
- 1:45Speaker 1: ticker tape looks great, but otherwise it's just a lot
- 1:49Speaker 1: of waving, just people waving at you from a you know,
- 1:52Speaker 1: they say the float. You know, it's just a flatbed
- 1:54Speaker 1: truck and a guy's waving at you. So it's you
- 1:57Speaker 1: don't need to be there. You don't need to be there. Now,
- 1:59Speaker 1: let's hope nothing goes wrong after the parade. We saw
- 2:04Speaker 1: we saw some violence and some ugly rioting Saturday night,
- 2:09Speaker 1: and now people will say, well, that was midnight. This
- 2:11Speaker 1: is going to be you know, eleven in the morning. Well,
- 2:13Speaker 1: hopefully everything's okay. I see Steve Sharipa in the crowd there.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Our friend Steve Sharipa marching with the team. I guess
- 2:21Speaker 1: that means he'll be on a float. City Council speaker
- 2:24Speaker 1: Julie Mennon is there. She'll be on a float. A
- 2:27Speaker 1: bunch of celebrities will be on those floats waving. Now.
- 2:30Speaker 1: The police department has sent out ten thousand people. Apparently
- 2:36Speaker 1: that's the biggest number of cops ever sent to patrol
- 2:40Speaker 1: an event, ten thousand. Hopefully they're ready for this. Unlike
- 2:45Speaker 1: Saturday Night, believe it or not, this is the first
- 2:50Speaker 1: parade the Knicks have ever had. Yeah, they won the
- 2:54Speaker 1: championship in seventy three, but at the time city wasn't
- 2:57Speaker 1: doing so well financially when Mayor Lindsay decided it was
- 3:02Speaker 1: too expensive for the city to do a parade, so
- 3:05Speaker 1: instead they did a party. They just threw a big
- 3:08Speaker 1: party for the next So this will be the first
- 3:10Speaker 1: Knicks parade ever. I've never seen anything like this sports wise,
- 3:15Speaker 1: even when the Yankees would win the World Series, even
- 3:18Speaker 1: when was the first one back ninety six, was like
- 3:20Speaker 1: the first one in years many years, and there was excitement,
- 3:24Speaker 1: but not like this, and it was not so universal
- 3:26Speaker 1: all over the city. Never seen anything capture the whole city,
- 3:30Speaker 1: any sports event like this, so it's going to be
- 3:33Speaker 1: absolutely amazing. The ratings were phenomenal, you know, the final games,
- 3:37Speaker 1: twenty four million people watching. Nothing until the Oscars doesn't
- 3:42Speaker 1: get twenty four million people, and was that was huge.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Everybody got this Knicks fever. So we'll be covering it
- 3:48Speaker 1: all day today and when the ceremony happens at City Hall,
- 3:53Speaker 1: we'll bring that to you live later today. Other big
- 3:57Speaker 1: news the Iran deal. Now this is very important because
- 4:00Speaker 1: it gives the Trump haters on the right and on
- 4:03Speaker 1: the left of the Republican Trumpeters, the Democratic Trumpeters a
- 4:06Speaker 1: chance to whine, which they enjoy. They like to whind.
- 4:09Speaker 1: This is the worst deal, with a complete surrender. This
- 4:12Speaker 1: isver So nobody knows what's in the deal yet. I
- 4:16Speaker 1: know you've seen leaks of Axios printing what they say
- 4:20Speaker 1: is the deal, Bloomberg printing what they say is that
- 4:23Speaker 1: nobody knows. I'm hearing there's stuff in there that's much
- 4:26Speaker 1: tougher than what you're reading. But it'll be Friday, the signing,
- 4:31Speaker 1: and if it's not a great deal. If it's not,
- 4:34Speaker 1: remember this is not the end of things. This is
- 4:37Speaker 1: just the next play in the game. There's going to
- 4:40Speaker 1: be a lot of plays in this game. This is
- 4:42Speaker 1: still like a second down, third down. This is not
- 4:45Speaker 1: the final resolution of this. So if it stinks, it
- 4:48Speaker 1: doesn't matter. It's only for sixty days and then they
- 4:52Speaker 1: either go to a tougher deal or they get bombed again.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So again, this is not the final thing. This is
- 4:56Speaker 1: not the final chapter. Don't worry about it so much.
- 4:59Speaker 1: But it give the Trump haters something to do, which
- 5:02Speaker 1: is great. You got to keep you got to keep
- 5:05Speaker 1: throwing them a bone, something to yell about. Where where's
- 5:10Speaker 1: I mean, whenever there's something to yell about? Who shows up?
- 5:13Speaker 1: When you need this guy? He's never around when there's
- 5:15Speaker 1: riots in Columbia, when there's anti Semitic attacks all over
- 5:19Speaker 1: the place, when there were riots all over the city
- 5:23Speaker 1: in twenty twenty. The guy who was hidden, he just
- 5:26Speaker 1: left the city, fled and hid. When you don't need him,
- 5:29Speaker 1: he's there. I'm talking about a course about Chuck Schumer
- 5:31Speaker 1: with the old man glasses now huffing and puffing. Everything
- 5:35Speaker 1: Trump does is awful.
- 5:36Speaker 2: They knew that the strait of horror moves was a
- 5:39Speaker 2: choke point, and Trump had no way, no way to
- 5:44Speaker 2: get them to release that without giving in so much
- 5:47Speaker 2: on so many things to them. So we're in a
- 5:50Speaker 2: national security disaster.
- 5:52Speaker 1: So this is what he enjoys doing this. And you
- 5:55Speaker 1: can get away with this if you go on CNN
- 5:57Speaker 1: or MSNBC or any of the networks, you can say
- 5:59Speaker 1: nonsense and they won't correct you. He know, if you
- 6:05Speaker 1: watch what was I watching this summer morning, Joe, they
- 6:07Speaker 1: had that wacko Dan Goldman, that crazy left wing Congress
- 6:12Speaker 1: when he was yelling and screaming about Trump went into
- 6:14Speaker 1: war with no plan. He had no plan. This is
- 6:18Speaker 1: the single most planned war in the history of warfare. Literally,
- 6:23Speaker 1: when the Iatola and all that took over forty seven
- 6:26Speaker 1: years ago, the Pentagon started planning war with Iran. How
- 6:30Speaker 1: to do it, what to hit, what to evade, And
- 6:32Speaker 1: they've been working on the plan for forty seven years.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Every year the Pentagon goes over that plan and tweaks
- 6:39Speaker 1: it and updates it. So this plan has been worked
- 6:41Speaker 1: on for forty seven years. That's why when we launched
- 6:45Speaker 1: the attack on Iran, we knew exactly what to hit.
- 6:48Speaker 1: In two days, we basically had them disabled militarily. We
- 6:52Speaker 1: wiped out their air force, their army, everything, the navy
- 6:55Speaker 1: all gone in a second. We killed the top fourteen
- 6:57Speaker 1: leaders in the first hour. We knew just what they do.
- 7:00Speaker 1: It's the most planned war in history. And now the
- 7:04Speaker 1: reason these guys are getting really ornery right now and
- 7:06Speaker 1: really upset. The problem with this deal, the big problem
- 7:11Speaker 1: that they're facing is oil is going to start flowing
- 7:16Speaker 1: like crazy, and it's brought down the price of oil dramatically.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Remember Trump said, as soon as we do this, oil
- 7:22Speaker 1: will plunge. Well it's plunged. Remembers one hundred and ten
- 7:25Speaker 1: a barrel, seventy four dollars a barrel. Now around the
- 7:29Speaker 1: country you're seeing gas under four dollars. Gas is three
- 7:32Speaker 1: sixty a gallon three seventy all over the country. Not
- 7:35Speaker 1: New York or California because they keep putting these state
- 7:38Speaker 1: taxes all over it, so you'll see the high price.
- 7:40Speaker 1: But the rest of the country is seeing gas prices
- 7:43Speaker 1: way way down from a few weeks ago. Stock market's
- 7:47Speaker 1: still at all time high. So that's why the Democrats
- 7:50Speaker 1: are so upset. They don't like this at all. Hey. Oh,
- 7:54Speaker 1: the other big thing today is the Obama Library is
- 7:57Speaker 1: opening today, big opening ceremony now for a crazy left
- 8:02Speaker 1: wingers that you know, they don't care about sports. It
- 8:04Speaker 1: bean something to them. This is their Nick's Parade. The
- 8:07Speaker 1: Obama Library is opening. Bill Clinton will be there, George W.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Bush will be there. Anybody that hates Trump, Joe Biden
- 8:17Speaker 1: will be there, Bruce Springsteen will be there. It will
- 8:20Speaker 1: be a Trump hatred festival. Celebrities and politicians. You know,
- 8:24Speaker 1: a lot of the new Democrats hate Obama, you know,
- 8:26Speaker 1: the real left wings. Obama to them, it's like Ronald
- 8:30Speaker 1: Reagan to them. So Bernie Sanders won't go there. A
- 8:33Speaker 1: lot of them won't go. It's the opening is today.
- 8:37Speaker 1: If you've seen if you haven't seen it, go look
- 8:39Speaker 1: at pictures of the Obama Library. It is considered, I mean,
- 8:42Speaker 1: it really is considered to be the single ugliest structure
- 8:45Speaker 1: ever built in America. Even the surrounding neighborhood. The neighbors
- 8:49Speaker 1: are all suing because it's such an iore and it's
- 8:53Speaker 1: just destroyed the neighbor It looks absolutely hideous and ridiculous,
- 8:59Speaker 1: but just glowing all over this. In fact, many people
- 9:03Speaker 1: are talking about the ABC News report this morning on
- 9:07Speaker 1: I guess it was Good Morning America. They did a
- 9:09Speaker 1: piece on the opening, and it was a love letter
- 9:11Speaker 1: to Obama. They never mentioned how hideous and strange the
- 9:15Speaker 1: building looks. They never mentioned that the cost overruns are
- 9:19Speaker 1: billions of dollars, just unbelievable wasted money. They never mentioned
- 9:23Speaker 1: that most of the contractors are screaming they haven't got paid.
- 9:28Speaker 1: None of this was mentioned on the ABC report. Instead,
- 9:30Speaker 1: it was just a love letter. In fact, people were stunned.
- 9:34Speaker 1: They know ABC is biased and slanted, but they couldn't
- 9:37Speaker 1: believe this report got on the air. It was just
- 9:40Speaker 1: a love letter to Obama and the library. In fact,
- 9:43Speaker 1: i'm hearing now the Obama Library. It's going to save
- 9:46Speaker 1: that thing and it's going to be their promotional piece
- 9:48Speaker 1: they use. Hey, the parade is about to get hurt.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Do we have Natalie No, Well, check on that. I
- 9:56Speaker 1: think about somewhere around now. We're checking with She's down
- 9:59Speaker 1: there at the parade. So we'll get a live update. Hey,
- 10:04Speaker 1: we'll get to rex Huerman. He was sentenced yesterday. Rex Huerman,
- 10:10Speaker 1: this big, hideous looking monster. The judge at one point
- 10:16Speaker 1: started crying. They had all the families, you know, talk
- 10:19Speaker 1: about what happened to their loved ones by, you know,
- 10:22Speaker 1: being killed by this monster. So we have right now.
- 10:25Speaker 1: All right, well we'll get to Rex human. Let's check
- 10:28Speaker 1: in Withalie Migliori. Natalie, where are.
- 10:30Speaker 3: You, hey, Well, I'm on West Broadway and Warren Street
- 10:35Speaker 3: right now, which is a little bit further away from
- 10:38Speaker 3: the parade route. But I'll tell you that didn't stop fans.
- 10:41Speaker 3: They are still out here.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And can you get close to the parade.
- 10:48Speaker 3: No, it's really difficult. It's been difficult, especially you know, Mark.
- 10:51Speaker 3: I'm out on the street every morning talking to people.
- 10:53Speaker 3: So I started my morning talking to people who were
- 10:56Speaker 3: waiting in line to get into the parade. And the
- 11:00Speaker 3: people who I even were speaking to, they couldn't even
- 11:04Speaker 3: get into the parade. By eight o'clock. The pens had
- 11:06Speaker 3: already been filled, So it's tough to get anywhere close
- 11:10Speaker 3: to the parade. Anybody who's close to the parade is
- 11:13Speaker 3: maybe about a block off of it, so they're standing
- 11:17Speaker 3: in between buildings to those openings just to see if
- 11:22Speaker 3: they could see their players pass by.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Yeah. I was watching some TV stations this morning. They
- 11:26Speaker 1: were all yelling and screaming. Their reporters couldn't get into
- 11:28Speaker 1: the parade route and they were unable to get near it.
- 11:30Speaker 1: So but how does the crowd look peaceful?
- 11:33Speaker 3: We hope, well, the crowd is streaming, moving through in
- 11:38Speaker 3: most parts of the city in Lower Manhattan. But it's peaceful.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I mean, everybody's happy. I did ask people once we
- 11:45Speaker 3: found out that people weren't going to be able to
- 11:46Speaker 3: get into the parade how they felt. People were disappointed,
- 11:51Speaker 3: but they said that there's nothing like being with other
- 11:54Speaker 3: Knicks fans and just being able to celebrate this long
- 11:56Speaker 3: awaited when that fans have been waiting for since nineteen
- 12:01Speaker 3: seventy three. So a lot of people in high spirit,
- 12:05Speaker 3: and definitely the vibe is more positive than negative.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I would say, all right, now, let me ask you
- 12:11Speaker 1: technical questions. It looks like they're going to get three
- 12:13Speaker 1: million people down there. Are there places to get something
- 12:16Speaker 1: to eat? Are there? What if somebody needs to go
- 12:18Speaker 1: to their restroom? What do they do down there?
- 12:19Speaker 3: It's good be for hours, very limited bathroom act that's okay.
- 12:23Speaker 3: A lot of restaurants along the way are open or eateries.
- 12:27Speaker 3: I'm standing in front of a little coffee shop where
- 12:29Speaker 3: a lot of Knicks fans are, and they're also I'm
- 12:33Speaker 3: looking through the windows, they're fitting inside and they have
- 12:36Speaker 3: their jerseys on. So people who couldn't make it to
- 12:38Speaker 3: the parade are definitely making the best out of their
- 12:40Speaker 3: time in the city. But moving these people is difficult
- 12:44Speaker 3: in a sense because it's been a frozen stone from
- 12:48Speaker 3: below Canal Street. So if you wanted to get on
- 12:50Speaker 3: a subway, if you wanted to park your car, well,
- 12:53Speaker 3: guess what, good luck, you couldn't even drive down here
- 12:56Speaker 3: after seven o'clock this morning, and you couldn't even get
- 12:58Speaker 3: on a subway.
- 12:59Speaker 1: W wow. So hey, I hope you see a big,
- 13:03Speaker 1: huge police presence down there.
- 13:06Speaker 3: There was a very yeah, very large police presence. It's
- 13:10Speaker 3: the largest police presence in any event's history in New
- 13:14Speaker 3: York City. Ten thousand cops on the ground, and I
- 13:16Speaker 3: can attest to that. I am seeing a lot of cops,
- 13:19Speaker 3: you know, many in different places in a sense, a
- 13:23Speaker 3: heavy police presence in terms of the vehicles too. If
- 13:26Speaker 3: you're walking down West Broadway, there are cops go lore
- 13:30Speaker 3: down the street making sure that everybody keeps moving, the
- 13:33Speaker 3: cars and everything. So there definitely is a large police
- 13:36Speaker 3: presence here.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, and if there's all these buildings along the route.
- 13:40Speaker 1: If you look up into all the windows or mostly offices,
- 13:43Speaker 1: but I imagine a lot of people came the office
- 13:45Speaker 1: to look out the window and watch the parade.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Yeah, And funny enough, I was looking up a little
- 13:50Speaker 3: earlier today and some people there was a like a
- 13:53Speaker 3: balcony like on one of the buildings, and there were
- 13:56Speaker 3: a group of people hanging out on the balcony trying
- 13:58Speaker 3: to see the parade. So certainly getting into their into
- 14:02Speaker 3: their buildings and making sure that they can that they
- 14:05Speaker 3: could see. That's what a lot of people say. That's
- 14:08Speaker 3: what they do for these sick or kate parades. Right,
- 14:10Speaker 3: it happens not as big, but with the Liberty Parade
- 14:13Speaker 3: a couple of years ago and this year, that's probably
- 14:17Speaker 3: a golden ticket if you've got an office along the
- 14:19Speaker 3: parade route.
- 14:20Speaker 1: All right, well, great job, Natalie Migliori. Well we'll check
- 14:23Speaker 1: with you again later. Stay out of trouble and we'll
- 14:25Speaker 1: talk you. Thank you, take care. Uh And we have
- 14:30Speaker 1: listeners all over the country. You might be saying, what
- 14:31Speaker 1: is it with the knicks and all this nixt So wow,
- 14:33Speaker 1: it means a lot to us. It's a big deal here.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I imagine all over the country. Uh, people are following
- 14:39Speaker 1: this very carefully. So where was Oh yeah, Rex Huerman,
- 14:42Speaker 1: this big, grotesque monster, murderer, mass murderer, killer. So the victims'
- 14:49Speaker 1: families testified and it was so powerful and moving. Even
- 14:52Speaker 1: the judge started crying. And then at one time the
- 14:56Speaker 1: judge and the judge really tore into human before the sentencing.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Here's the judge.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Are you a little bit sorry for what you did
- 15:04Speaker 2: to these poor innocent women? Eight women that is strangled
- 15:08Speaker 2: to death, at least eight that we know of.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Are you at least a little bit sorry for that?
- 15:13Speaker 2: Yes?
- 15:14Speaker 1: Yes, he's just like a monster cold month. Yes, Sam,
- 15:20Speaker 1: he did speak at one point. They didn't say much.
- 15:22Speaker 1: But this is Humorman. This is the serial killer monster.
- 15:26Speaker 1: There are no words I can say. I response will
- 15:29Speaker 1: before said Miss Ruler's death. The words I would say
- 15:35Speaker 1: have no meaning. All Right, Yeah, he's a pretty smart guy.
- 15:39Speaker 1: He's an architect, just an insane, lunatic killer. He's going
- 15:44Speaker 1: to go to prison, where they say the other prisoners
- 15:46Speaker 1: will try to beat the hell out of them and
- 15:48Speaker 1: kill him. There's another serial killer who's been in prison
- 15:52Speaker 1: for years who wrote to Hueman, and they started corresponding
- 15:57Speaker 1: back and forth about forty letters, back and forth. The
- 15:59Speaker 1: other killer is also a big, huge guy. He's like
- 16:02Speaker 1: seven feet tall, and in one of the layers he
- 16:04Speaker 1: wrote to human, don't think because you're a big guy,
- 16:06Speaker 1: it's going to keep you safe. He said, it's a
- 16:09Speaker 1: numbers game in prison, like twenty of them will come
- 16:11Speaker 1: after you. I mean, scary stuff if you're if you're
- 16:16Speaker 1: a human reading this. And he also said, even though
- 16:18Speaker 1: you're going to keep you in solitary, they'll make sure
- 16:21Speaker 1: at some point the other prisoners getting near you. So
- 16:25Speaker 1: he's been sentenced. It's three life sentences. Anyway, let's get
- 16:30Speaker 1: off that topic too gloomy. Let's get back to happy stuff.
- 16:33Speaker 1: The Parade of Champions, the Knicks Parade will be covering
- 16:36Speaker 1: it live all day to day, and we'll take some calls. Next.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten is
- 16:41Speaker 1: the number. Eight hundred three to two one zero seven
- 16:45Speaker 1: ten
