Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: So, my father passed away three years ago.
- 0:04Speaker 2: It's been three years, and uh it seems.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Like only one because everything's weird. Everything's weird, And my
- 0:13Speaker 1: sister McKell and I did a couple of things, uh
- 0:16Speaker 1: in honor of that, we talked with the University of Utah.
- 0:21Speaker 1: He was a big supporter of them about putting uh
- 0:26Speaker 1: memorial for him in the Tailgate area, And in conjunction
- 0:31Speaker 1: with that, we sponsored a scholarship in his name for
- 0:35Speaker 1: the Communications department at the you we got this notice yesterday.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I'm McKellan, Gina. Thank you so much for helping and
- 0:48Speaker 1: updating your father's page on the Communication Department's website. We
- 0:51Speaker 1: have updated it here with a link. We want to
- 0:55Speaker 1: be transparent and this is I love the University of Utah.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I am not saying anything about them. I'm just saying
- 1:01Speaker 1: this is. These are the times that we are in Okay,
- 1:04Speaker 1: this is not them. It comes from somewhere else. We
- 1:08Speaker 1: want to be transparent. We had to replace one of
- 1:11Speaker 1: the words in the text, provided diversity with the phrasing
- 1:16Speaker 1: quote varied perspectives in order to adhere with the current regulation. Yes, crazy,
- 1:23Speaker 1: I hope you understand. So so stupid so here's what
- 1:27Speaker 1: it says on his memorial page. Okay, so now that
- 1:30Speaker 1: you know, those words are changed.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Out, all right.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Dedicated on November twelfth, twenty twenty two, the Tom Barbaria
- 1:37Speaker 1: Memorial at the University of Utah Tailgate Lot honors the
- 1:40Speaker 1: legacy of legendary radio broadcaster known as the Voice of Reason. Family, friends, industry, peers, listeners,
- 1:46Speaker 1: and University of Utah dignitaries celebrated the memorial installment and
- 1:50Speaker 1: Barbari fashion at a home game against Stanford. A passionate
- 1:54Speaker 1: supporter of Utah athletics, Barbaria was a fixture in the
- 1:57Speaker 1: local sports scene, blending sharp wit with deep devtion to
- 2:00Speaker 1: the utes. Beyond sports, he championed the value of varied perspectives,
- 2:07Speaker 1: fearlessly challenging the status quo in broadcast journalism. His career
- 2:11Speaker 1: exemplified the power of questioning conventional wisdom, fostering meaningful dialogue,
- 2:16Speaker 1: and advocating for independent thinking, principles that continue to inspire
- 2:19Speaker 1: both fans and media broadcasters alike.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Go utes, This is how you control the way people
- 2:26Speaker 3: think exactly.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I just thought it was interesting that schools are having
- 2:31Speaker 1: to get creative, varied perspectives. Well, is a safer way
- 2:37Speaker 1: of saying diversity, because they that is a word they
- 2:40Speaker 1: are not allowed to have in any official documentation.
- 2:43Speaker 3: You know what's astonishing to me is that something and
- 2:47Speaker 3: this is not a slam on your father, but something
- 2:50Speaker 3: so insignificant in the entire university world as that, as
- 2:57Speaker 3: that little blurb somehow catches the eye of somebody.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Well, no, it's not catching the eye. They they they
- 3:06Speaker 1: put in a scan of all and it says, go
- 3:09Speaker 1: in and find.
- 3:09Speaker 3: The word diversity in anywhere. So the word diversity doesn't
- 3:14Speaker 3: exist anymore. You cannot use it.
- 3:17Speaker 1: It doesn't exquity, inclusion, those three words cannot. My sister's
- 3:22Speaker 1: a professor at Weaver State University. Again, not we were
- 3:25Speaker 1: State University's fault. They're just following.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I challenge somebody the next the next woman professor who
- 3:33Speaker 3: has a baby at the U. Name your kid diversity, diversity, Johnson,
- 3:39Speaker 3: and you can say it all. Oh, my son, diversity,
- 3:44Speaker 3: he's so great.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Isn't that crazy?
- 3:47Speaker 2: Though?
- 3:47Speaker 3: And his sister equity and oh and we're going to
- 3:51Speaker 3: have another. We're going to name him inclusion.
- 3:54Speaker 4: It's it is, it's it's you know, and I I
- 3:57Speaker 4: hate to go to the well.
- 3:58Speaker 2: But it's Nazi era manipulation, it is, you know.
- 4:02Speaker 1: And I feel really badly that where you had to
- 4:06Speaker 1: waste their time doing that, Yes, and that they felt
- 4:10Speaker 1: the need to apologize.
- 4:15Speaker 2: It was nice of them too.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah, please understand, of course, it's fine.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Please please some some woman, professor, have a baby and
- 4:24Speaker 3: name a diversity.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Or change your name to diversity, professor diversity.
- 4:30Speaker 3: I'm having maybe I'll legally changed my name to diversity already.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And I just wonder what the other what the other
- 4:40Speaker 1: side thinks they have gained here? What is the positive
- 4:43Speaker 1: thing that has happened by making this word a bad word?
- 4:46Speaker 2: They've owned the Libs. That's and that's how they governed.
- 4:49Speaker 2: We're making you do something that you don't want to do.
- 4:51Speaker 2: That's all they care about. That's their platform.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Why is that a bad word? Tell me why that's about?
- 4:59Speaker 2: Because it upsets you that we took it away. It
- 5:01Speaker 2: isn't a bad word. It's not a bad word. There's
- 5:03Speaker 2: no there, there's no way I can tell you that
- 5:06Speaker 2: because it isn't a bad word.
- 5:07Speaker 1: It's not a bad word.
- 5:10Speaker 3: And yeah, they it's it's just a way of controlling
- 5:13Speaker 3: there's a text I worked for the U and the
- 5:15Speaker 3: language changes required.
- 5:17Speaker 4: Oh yeah, took an enormous amount of employee time to
- 5:20Speaker 4: find and change.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Sure, and I'm sorry that we had that word in
- 5:24Speaker 1: our in our thing that you had to waste your
- 5:27Speaker 1: time with.
- 5:28Speaker 3: That's Radio from Hell, the official show of critical race Theory.
- 5:33Speaker 4: It's yeah again, it's it's it's that's how they govern
- 5:36Speaker 4: is owning the Libs.
- 5:37Speaker 2: That's their first platform.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And here's an example of something that they thought was
- 5:43Speaker 1: important and they put it into practice. Like so many
- 5:47Speaker 1: things you talk about and they never come to fruition, like, oh,
- 5:49Speaker 1: you know what we should do, get rid of that
- 5:51Speaker 1: word diversity. They did it. Oh yeah, that means you
- 5:54Speaker 1: could do that with important things.
- 5:57Speaker 3: So it doesn't mean that you could do that, it
- 6:00Speaker 3: means that you are doing it.
- 6:02Speaker 1: No, I mean like you could do things like opening
- 6:04Speaker 1: those childcares what they're doing. You have the power to
- 6:08Speaker 1: take an idea and make it happen. There's your evidence
- 6:12Speaker 1: right there. But we don't like the word diversity.
- 6:14Speaker 3: We have one, but the liberals, the liberals are the
- 6:16Speaker 3: ones who want those childcare centers.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's uh.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Yeah, and this is this is not they've been playing
- 6:23Speaker 4: the long game for years, and we have not. We've
- 6:28Speaker 4: been just going on and assuming that everyone's going to
- 6:31Speaker 4: follow the rules and everyone will do what is right. No, no,
- 6:34Speaker 4: they're not.
- 6:38Speaker 2: It's I love you, it's not you.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I know.
- 6:45Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I'm going to go to diversity, diversity of.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Utah, diversity of diversity of Utah, diversity.
- 6:54Speaker 2: There you go, I have a diversity student. It's just ridiculous.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Yeah, so there's that.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yeah, why is everyone going along with it? Because them's
- 7:06Speaker 2: the hors. We have to take money away.
- 7:08Speaker 4: They'll take the money away and then you got nothing.
- 7:11Speaker 2: And they and they, they have taken money away.
- 7:14Speaker 1: It will be grants, there will be research not able
- 7:17Speaker 1: to be done.
- 7:19Speaker 2: All right, Well, on that note,
