- 0:13SPEAKER_03: We are back, you guys.
- 0:16SPEAKER_03: I think we had very good intentions this summer of staying locked in.
- 0:21SPEAKER_04: I think everyone has good intentions for the summer.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: I always have good intentions.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: I do too.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I think everyone takes breaks in the summer.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:28SPEAKER_03: It's just like mental breaks, schedule.
- 0:31SPEAKER_03: It's just hard.
- 0:32SPEAKER_03: Well, then we decided because we were on the church one, why talk about the same thing twice?
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: That's yeah.
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: It was gonna be the same thing.
- 0:38SPEAKER_03: So what would be the point?
- 0:40SPEAKER_03: Okay, you guys, I have had a very long summer.
- 0:43SPEAKER_03: It was a great summer.
- 0:44SPEAKER_03: I love summer.
- 0:45SPEAKER_03: It's September 2nd today.
- 0:47SPEAKER_03: Summer's still not over.
- 0:49SPEAKER_03: It's 100,000 degrees outside this week.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: No, it's only 105.
- 0:53SPEAKER_03: It's ridiculous.
- 0:57SPEAKER_03: I get over the 100 degree weather.
- 0:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Which I had a question.
- 1:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Duncan was he his schedule got cleared because it was so hot that they went right after school.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 1:10SPEAKER_03: I was like, well, how come Pastor James?
- 1:11SPEAKER_03: Actually, at seven o'clock, it gets lovely outside.
- 1:14SPEAKER_03: I think because the sun's going down a little later.
- 1:17SPEAKER_04: Oh, he got to have an evening game.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we've played last two, and we'll play tonight.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: So if it's earlier, so like he has to do that rule too.
- 1:24SPEAKER_04: Because baseball is probably like the wet thermometer or something.
- 1:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:28SPEAKER_04: Because baseball games are like eight hours long.
- 1:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:30SPEAKER_04: And they're right after school.
- 1:31SPEAKER_04: It's too hot.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but you don't exert as much energy because you're into like a 5 30 game and they're for like hot dogs.
- 1:37SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: Okay, so anyway.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: Uh so anyway.
- 1:41SPEAKER_03: You love summer.
- 1:42SPEAKER_03: I love the summer.
- 1:44SPEAKER_03: I'm really sad I'm not going to be tan by October, mid-October.
- 1:48SPEAKER_03: Sad about that.
- 1:49SPEAKER_03: And I went a lot of places.
- 1:50SPEAKER_03: But so my birthday was in July.
- 1:53SPEAKER_03: The end of July, I turned 49.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: Woo! I decided it might be when your body starts to fall apart.
- 1:59SPEAKER_03: No 99th year.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: It definitely is.
- 2:02SPEAKER_03: So I was at in Kiva Dunes, which is Gulf Shores.
- 2:06SPEAKER_03: I get a splinter in my toe.
- 2:08SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's couldn't walk.
- 2:10SPEAKER_03: It gets infected.
- 2:11SPEAKER_03: I can't see the splinter.
- 2:13SPEAKER_03: I had to get antibiotics.
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: I have not, I can't even tell you the last time I was on an antibiotic.
- 2:18SPEAKER_03: This is probably TMI, but whatever.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: Most it's the most important thing.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: We know what anticipated.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: If you're a mixed dude too.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: Okay, I didn't know.
- 2:25SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 2:26SPEAKER_03: So she writes the prescription and she says, Do you get a yeast infection if you take antibiotics?
- 2:32SPEAKER_03: I go, I can't tell you the last time I had one.
- 2:34SPEAKER_03: Not a clue.
- 2:36SPEAKER_03: It turns out I might.
- 2:39SPEAKER_03: So I have an infected toe.
- 2:40SPEAKER_03: I cannot walk.
- 2:41SPEAKER_03: I'm on an antibiotic, which turns into a yeast infection and a UTI.
- 2:46SPEAKER_03: And then since Jamaica, which was beginning of July, I apparently am allergic to some mascara I bought.
- 2:53SPEAKER_03: And then I had eczema on my eyelids.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: You were a mess.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: I was a mess.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: And that splinter turned out to be a long.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: It was a long.
- 3:02SPEAKER_03: It was a log.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: Couldn't see it.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: It took two weeks for it to come out.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: So my body was just like jazzed.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: Didn't you go have it taken out?
- 3:10SPEAKER_03: No, I went to urgent care.
- 3:12SPEAKER_03: She couldn't see it.
- 3:13SPEAKER_03: So she gave me a.
- 3:15SPEAKER_04: How did it come out?
- 3:16SPEAKER_04: Did you see it?
- 3:16SPEAKER_03: No, I finally saw it.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: And then you just pulled it out.
- 3:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I like broke the skin and it goes floop.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: Oh my word.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: Mad that I didn't video it.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was satisfying to watch.
- 3:27SPEAKER_03: It was the whole size of my first knuckle on my like page of finger.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: Yes, the whole thing.
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: And I have long finger that's walking around.
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: I wasn't walking very well.
- 3:38SPEAKER_03: I was on I had to have ibuprofen to like be able to function.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: It hurt so bad.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: I can't do that.
- 3:44SPEAKER_03: So anyway, I got past all of that traumatic event.
- 3:48SPEAKER_03: And then we just kind of like did a little remodel in our bathroom, no big deal.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: Like paint on the walls, and I got new rugs.
- 3:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, just like little.
- 3:55SPEAKER_03: Hayden put a new shower door in for us.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: It's nice and pretty.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: He's so handy.
- 3:59SPEAKER_03: I mean, it was like small, right?
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: Handy?
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: So I get these new rugs from Walmart.
- 4:04SPEAKER_03: They're not, they're like 12 bucks, right?
- 4:05SPEAKER_03: No big deal.
- 4:06SPEAKER_03: Rugs are expensive, by the way.
- 4:08SPEAKER_03: Rugs are expensive.
- 4:09SPEAKER_03: For no reason.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: Small ones, big ones are all.
- 4:11SPEAKER_03: It doesn't matter.
- 4:12SPEAKER_03: So I was like, I'm gonna go with the Walmart ones I can replace.
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: So I get out of the shower one day and I step onto my rug, like you know, normal people do, and I feel something under the rug.
- 4:24SPEAKER_03: I don't even want to hear the story again.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: No, I don't either.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: I'm already sweet.
- 4:27SPEAKER_03: Which is like it was it was like squishy, but yet hard.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: But it felt like not an inner.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: But I was like, well, that's weird.
- 4:36SPEAKER_03: This is a new rug.
- 4:37SPEAKER_03: I was in my mind, like, what did Jamie kick under the rug?
- 4:40SPEAKER_03: Which is a bad thing you can't kick things under a bathroom rug.
- 4:43SPEAKER_03: It's brand new, just by yeah.
- 4:45SPEAKER_03: So I pulled like the rug.
- 4:47SPEAKER_03: And I don't even know what to say it out loud.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 4:49SPEAKER_03: I pull back the rug, and there is a squished blue tail skink.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: What did you know all those words when you first looked at it?
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: Yes, because Carson's my son.
- 5:00SPEAKER_03: Yes, blue tail loves lizards.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: A blue tail skink.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: Skink.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: Because he has a blue tail?
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it literally has a yeah.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: You should look up.
- 5:08SPEAKER_04: Well, here's the thing like a dark body with a big thing.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: Lizards are lizards, that's true.
- 5:12SPEAKER_03: They're slimy.
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: Oh, no.
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: Lizards are like little and crunchy and dry.
- 5:15SPEAKER_04: He's amphibians.
- 5:16SPEAKER_04: The bigs are girthy.
- 5:18SPEAKER_04: Girthy.
- 5:20SPEAKER_04: And like when some do I have substantial bodies.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: This one was lots.
- 5:25unknown: Oh.
- 5:26SPEAKER_03: I think this one was a baby.
- 5:27SPEAKER_03: So much.
- 5:28SPEAKER_03: Wait, what'd you say?
- 5:29SPEAKER_03: This one was, I think, a baby.
- 5:30SPEAKER_03: Oh, I thought you were saying the hair.
- 5:31SPEAKER_03: It was like small.
- 5:32SPEAKER_03: Because I've seen big ones.
- 5:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, me too.
- 5:34SPEAKER_04: We've had big ones on the side of our house.
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: How it got into my bathroom.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: That's so we do have it.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Under the rug.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: And under the rug.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: Under the rug.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: Listen, the only thing that's a very good thing.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: When you first told me this story, I thought it was your barefoot.
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: That's true.
- 5:49SPEAKER_04: This does help that it was like, oh, but still the feel of it.
- 5:52SPEAKER_03: It's the feel I can't get it out of my brain.
- 5:54SPEAKER_03: I because then in my mind I was like, oh, Jay, either I stepped on it or Jamie stepped on it.
- 6:00SPEAKER_03: But then later on, I was like, well, Jamie would have checked had he stepped on an animal.
- 6:06SPEAKER_04: It was me.
- 6:07SPEAKER_03: And I know the exact moment it squished.
- 6:10SPEAKER_04: Wait, say more.
- 6:11SPEAKER_04: So then what did you do?
- 6:12unknown: Yeah.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: What did you say?
- 6:14SPEAKER_03: So we have a dead skink on the floor.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: My new rug has blood on it.
- 6:18SPEAKER_03: Husband underneath.
- 6:19SPEAKER_03: He's gone.
- 6:20SPEAKER_03: Call him.
- 6:20SPEAKER_03: No husband.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: I'm not particularly afraid of like spiders, like, I'll kill a spider and pick it up.
- 6:26SPEAKER_03: But in my mind, I was like, I have to pick this thing up.
- 6:29SPEAKER_03: What am I gonna do?
- 6:30SPEAKER_03: Did you just throw the whole rug away?
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: I no.
- 6:34SPEAKER_03: So I went and got a bunch of paper towels and a big trash bag.
- 6:38SPEAKER_03: So you couldn't feel its body within the paper towel washes.
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: Scoop it up, throw it in the trash rack.
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: And then I just hung it on the door because I was getting, I don't know, I was getting ready to go somewhere.
- 6:49SPEAKER_03: So I was like, I'll take it out when I'm done.
- 6:52SPEAKER_03: Then it started moving.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: The trash bags.
- 6:55unknown: I forgot.
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: I might have just knocked it out.
- 6:58SPEAKER_03: Oh, poor thing.
- 6:59SPEAKER_03: Even though it was bleeding.
- 7:00SPEAKER_03: Ugh.
- 7:01SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: It's dead now.
- 7:03SPEAKER_03: So then I cleaned the rug, but in my mind, I was like, if this has if the little it wasn't a lot of blood, but I was like, if this blood doesn't come out, I'm throwing it away and buying a new one.
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: Which was on the blood on the bottom.
- 7:17SPEAKER_03: And it's on the bottom.
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: It was purchased for this.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: It did come out.
- 7:21SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: Praise God.
- 7:22SPEAKER_03: I still I really don't want to step on the rug when I get out of the shower.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: Now you're just going on the bare ground that you can see.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: Don't sleep.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: I've forever scarred.
- 7:31SPEAKER_04: Oh, can't we?
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: I'm stepping on back.
- 7:33SPEAKER_03: I hope I never meet a blue-tailed skink.
- 7:35SPEAKER_03: Especially in your bathroom.
- 7:37SPEAKER_03: Correct.
- 7:37SPEAKER_04: Oh no, no, no, no.
- 7:39SPEAKER_04: I'm sorry that happened to you.
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: We've been in this house six years.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: I've never thank you.
- 7:43SPEAKER_03: I've never had a blue tailed skink in my house.
- 7:46SPEAKER_03: In my whole life, actually.
- 7:47SPEAKER_03: No, I haven't either.
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: I've had a snake in my house when we lived by you, Mateo, when we lived out by the Bowman's.
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: I had two snakes in my house.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: There's something about nature when it's not in its context.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: When it does it coming in.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: Nothing, nothing outside of a dog or a cat or humans should be in a house.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: Flies, ants, mice, blue-tailed skinks.
- 8:13SPEAKER_03: Doesn't make sense.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: They should stay.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: They should stay out.
- 8:15SPEAKER_03: They just don't know better.
- 8:17SPEAKER_03: Oh my goodness.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: That's funny.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: Well, one of the things you said to us, Kelly, this morning about this um podcast was, you know, we were in current 1 Corinthians all summer, and what were our big takeaways or, you know, what'd we learn?
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: And here's what I learned when I was thinking about it is that you guys, I've talked about that I've been taking I took Greek all summer.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: And my assignment was to essentially translate a couple of verses, five verses.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: And so I chose the first Timothy verses, which say, you know, women, uh, I do not permit them to teach, I do not permit them to offentane, they should be silent, blah, blah, blah.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: And in doing that, and so then of course we had 1 Corinthians 11, which says the same thing, you know, that he doesn't allow women, what does it say exactly?
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: Um it talks about 100%.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: Is it 11 and 14?
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, 14.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: Anyway, what I realized, and I realized that when you guys were doing the podcast on um 1 Corinthians 12, and here's what caught me.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: It's 1 Corinthians 12, verse 2.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: And somebody's translation, I think it was Pastor Jamie's translation, says, You were influenced and led astray by dumb idols.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: Now, what are your guys' translations?
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: Mine says speechless.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Speechless, mute.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: So what I realized is that at some point in time, we used to say dumb for mute.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: And speechless.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: We don't anymore.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: Dumb does not mean that anymore.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: And that word has just changed in our own lifetimes.
- 10:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because remember if you were in church in the 90s, there's that song that's like, and now let the poor say I am rich, let the dumb say I can speak.
- 10:10SPEAKER_03: Wait, that's a line that's never seen that with that line.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: The Lord has been.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: I think my church admitted that line.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: My church admitted that line.
- 10:17SPEAKER_03: I think it's in there.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: We didn't say that.
- 10:18SPEAKER_03: We didn't either.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: But I know that song.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: Is it beautiful?
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: I love that.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but so that's my point.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: So in our old lifetime, that word has changed.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: Language has changed.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: And so we're examining words that existed 2,000 years ago.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: And you think language doesn't change?
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: It changed in 60 years.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: And so I just realized that.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: So, you know, everyone's like, no, no, no.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: I just want to read a plain reading of the scripture.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: I just want to read it plainly and understand it.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: You cannot.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: We cannot.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: I mean, you can.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: His word is living and the translations, like people have anointed gifts in doing that.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: But it still is a real job and why it has to continually be done, because even in our, you know, vernacular, our words are changing.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: And so it just made me feel a little more generous, charitable.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: So in my history, I have family members who land so, so differently on these texts.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: And early on, when we discovered we were not aligned, it was a real cause of tension, like brutal among siblings.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: And it was painful because they were like, this is what it means.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: And I'm saying, this is what it means.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: And now I'm saying, you know what?
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: You're landing differently, I'm landing differently.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: We could both be wrong.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: You know, so like let's just keep studying the scriptures, and further and further we get revelation.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: More documentation comes forward, more definitions come forward.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: And so anyway, it just makes me feel like it's not deal breakers, these translations.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: They do need to keep happening.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: It is hard work.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: We pretty much understand what we're reading, but there's some things that we just still are not known to us.
- 12:15SPEAKER_04: I think something I realized um this year, as just talking with different people and like landing in different places, is um I used to, so I am a literal thinker, by the way.
- 12:26SPEAKER_04: I just Googled it, and that song does not say anything about dumb.
- 12:29SPEAKER_04: I was like, I think that'll be.
- 12:31SPEAKER_04: I made that up.
- 12:32SPEAKER_04: I'm like, it is in the Bible, though.
- 12:34SPEAKER_04: I mean, I'm familiar with that phrase.
- 12:35SPEAKER_04: I don't know where that came from.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, um, wouldn't Heller Helen Keller if she was a real person.
- 12:41SPEAKER_03: She was yeah, she was saying I know I did that for you.
- 12:44SPEAKER_03: Addison Miller, if you were saying you're welcome.
- 12:46SPEAKER_03: Here we go.
- 12:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, they would say she was dumb.
- 12:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I've done mute and dumb, correct?
- 12:50SPEAKER_04: No, um or just dumb means lying.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: Dumb means mute.
- 12:53SPEAKER_04: Dumb deaf means you can't speak.
- 12:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, anyway.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Ly, deaf, and dumb is what I would say.
- 12:58SPEAKER_04: But I used to think like someone's right.
- 13:01SPEAKER_04: Like to me, I'm like, if the answer is this, if we've researched, we discover the answer is this, and that's just right.
- 13:08SPEAKER_04: And I think what I've discovered over like listening to all different things and talking to different people, landing in different places does not always mean lack of like prayer, full consideration and submission on either side's point.
- 13:22SPEAKER_04: We may land on opposite aside from Jesus being king and his return.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: Correct.
- 13:26SPEAKER_04: There are big topics in the Bible that there are conf confusing verses on, and there are people that have submissively, lovingly, prayerfully landed on either end of the spectrum.
- 13:36SPEAKER_04: And so I used to think, oh, someone that doesn't like see it my way, they just didn't research, you know.
- 13:40SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, that's not like I'm not the smartest.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: So like that's not fair to say.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: I realized like on both sides of all kinds of arguments are hundreds of years of scholarship behind both of them.
- 13:52SPEAKER_04: Some unkind on all sides, too.
- 13:55SPEAKER_04: Like some selfish motive, some out of whatever.
- 13:58SPEAKER_04: But there's also like uh great loving love of God people.
- 14:02SPEAKER_04: Trying to know God.
- 14:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're all just trying to know God.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:06SPEAKER_04: We're like, what's he want from us?
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: So anyway, so yeah.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: So that was really helpful for me.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: And I where I landed years ago is that and what we did years ago is like we're just not discussing, which was really painful too.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: Like we're brothers, we will now.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a little bit easier.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it is.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: And I think because we're all maturing, you know, emotionally, spiritually.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: So it's like we don't have to be defensive about where we stand.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: Oh, true.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: We feel confident, both of us in where we stand.
- 14:35SPEAKER_03: So I would love to sit in a debate that between you.
- 14:38SPEAKER_03: Just to listen.
- 14:39SPEAKER_03: Not even the someone who's very scholarly on one side and then the other.
- 14:43SPEAKER_03: I would just I would just want to listen to that.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's on both sides, and I would say we're all, you know, living flourishing lives.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: Just very different lives, you know.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: Anyway.
- 14:54SPEAKER_04: I've started collecting my favorite discussions from like far, mid, far, all these hot topics, like uh um eternal security topics, women in ministry topics.
- 15:10SPEAKER_04: I've been looking for my favorite.
- 15:12SPEAKER_04: Like, I think their research was done really well, I think their presentation was done really well.
- 15:16SPEAKER_04: I like and appreciate and respect where they landed on far one way, far the other way, and a middle.
- 15:22SPEAKER_04: Like someone that's kind of like, oh, these are kind of confusing.
- 15:25SPEAKER_04: This is how I see both sides.
- 15:26SPEAKER_04: And so anyway, I've I appreciate that.
- 15:29SPEAKER_04: I appreciate people that put like thought into where they're coming from.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: What did you guys love about Corinthians?
- 15:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, what's that?
- 15:36SPEAKER_04: That's what I'd say.
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: We'll start with Matea.
- 15:39SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 15:39SPEAKER_03: She is in the room.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: What this so we are gonna discuss the whole summer we spent in First Corinthians and what was our like biggest takeaways for ourselves.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think for me, my takeaway and what I'm still um learning and researching, but also I'm trying to like research and read, but let God show me through my eyes as well.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: So I'm like trying to get a nice balance of kind of the whole book of just building up the church, but building up the church with spiritual gifts.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: But when you read the spiritual gifts, it's actually like everything we have access to.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: So, like uh, you know, everyone who's consumed with the Holy Spirit has access to heal, to have wisdom, to, you know, like all these things, but I'm like, okay, so I have access to this, but I don't have every gift.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: So I've been like um understanding what he was meaning by these gifts and what it looks like in the church.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: Because I think spiritual gifts are supposed to be for the church, right?
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: The church community.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: So I'm still learning, but that's something that um kind of spiked uh just a oh, I'm curious of and I have never really thought of it before of okay, so there's been moments that I've been really wise.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: There's been moments that you know my faith is really strong.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: I prayed over someone, I healed, but do I have all those gifts?
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: Maybe not, you know.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: So, like understanding and learning of what he meant by the gifts and how the gifts are used in like to build the church in the church of how you because not everyone should have the gift, because the gifts are supposed to build each other up, like you have a gift, you have a gift, and we use them to work together.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: So that's something I've I don't know, I've just thought it was interesting.
- 17:52SPEAKER_03: But kidding the whole church to understand that you all do have a gift because many times you are like, I don't know if I have a gift, but you do.
- 18:00SPEAKER_03: Every blink is a good thing.
- 18:01SPEAKER_03: And it could just be like, I think people like if you are discerning or you have a gift of faith, they're like the ones that aren't seen as much.
- 18:10SPEAKER_03: I think also discerning people could come across as like judgmental.
- 18:14SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 18:15SPEAKER_03: We're not already like, but then you know, red flag, you know what I mean?
- 18:18SPEAKER_03: You're like, you just judge everybody as like not right of discernment.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: Which as Christians, we're all supposed to have a discerning spirit.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: So then I'm like, the gift.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: So that's what my brain is.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: I'm like, so what is the gift?
- 18:32SPEAKER_04: So I my I think the gift of discerning the spiritual gift is like a word you feel like you receive from the Holy Spirit.
- 18:41SPEAKER_04: So I just, when we were talking about this a couple of weeks ago, I told Hayden, I was like, I need to find someone whose gift is discernment because I've noticed, and I never knew what it was called.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: I used to call it God's secrets, but I've noticed I get words of knowledge, like something for someone or for a group that I otherwise don't know, like weird specific things.
- 18:59SPEAKER_04: And um they'll be like, How'd you know that?
- 19:01SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, I did not.
- 19:02SPEAKER_04: That was a God's secret.
- 19:03SPEAKER_04: And then I learned later, I was describing it to someone, and they're like, that's the gift of like words of knowledge.
- 19:09SPEAKER_04: And but I'm nervous to share them all the time.
- 19:13SPEAKER_04: Like I get random thoughts, and I just thought, oh, my brain is wild.
- 19:17SPEAKER_04: But I'm like, which is yeah, it is true.
- 19:21SPEAKER_04: It is too.
- 19:22SPEAKER_03: Like, here's a here's a that's why I should just say I'm out because of it's like not rising.
- 19:26SPEAKER_04: But he's just so goofy.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: That's what uh Louise trying to get me to do.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: What do you mean?
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: Just do it.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: So here's an example.
- 19:36SPEAKER_04: I want to say, hey, this popped into my head.
- 19:38SPEAKER_04: Like, am I supposed to share that or not?
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: And just and see what they think about.
- 19:42SPEAKER_04: So the uh several it was about a year ago.
- 19:45SPEAKER_04: We were driving and I said to Hayden, it just boom, it hit my head.
- 19:49SPEAKER_04: Like we're talking about something else, and in mid-conversation, I go, you know what I just thought of?
- 19:53SPEAKER_04: Like, do you remember that guy that got in a plane crash like a year ago, somewhere outside of Waterloo, and he like lost his legs and like this, all this stuff?
- 20:00SPEAKER_04: And Hayden was like, No.
- 20:02SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Yeah, I this happened.
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: Like, I was and I don't know who it was.
- 20:07SPEAKER_04: Yes, this just happened like a year or two ago or something.
- 20:10SPEAKER_04: Well, that weekend, Louise said, Hey, I want you to come to the night of healing.
- 20:15SPEAKER_04: Like, I really want you to strengthen like your gift of knowledge, whatever.
- 20:18SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Okay, like God literally just laid me on her heart to tell me that.
- 20:22SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Okay, so I went and I sat way up in the back on the carpet and laid on the my stomach for Jesus.
- 20:29SPEAKER_04: And all of a sudden, one of the prayer requests was for that man.
- 20:35SPEAKER_04: And they said, about a year ago, maybe you don't remember this man, they knew his, the person in the room knew him.
- 20:41SPEAKER_04: They said, um, he's been dealing with like feeling forgotten.
- 20:45SPEAKER_04: Like people didn't, maybe I shouldn't share this if he's it's probably it was brought a public thing.
- 20:49SPEAKER_04: Like he had just been struggling, like this huge traumatic thing happened.
- 20:53SPEAKER_04: And he was he was feeling really lonely, like people had forgotten all about this traumatic thing that happened to his life.
- 20:59SPEAKER_04: And I was like, was I in that moment supposed to like, hey, does anyone know who this guy is?
- 21:04SPEAKER_04: And reach out and just say, Hey, God put me on your heart, like you're not forgotten.
- 21:07SPEAKER_04: You know, like and I didn't.
- 21:09SPEAKER_04: I didn't, but awesome.
- 21:11SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 21:11SPEAKER_04: And sorry if that was private, I shouldn't share.
- 21:13SPEAKER_04: But just things like that, like if you have someone to ask about it, that's like, yeah, like first of all, let's check and make sure it's biblical.
- 21:22SPEAKER_04: And then yeah, like why wouldn't you reach out and say, Hey, I'm thinking about you, you know?
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, and it it's for the body, like Matea said.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: I was talking to someone Sunday, and we were, you know, catching up on what's going on with her.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: And she is a youth leader, and she was in youth service, and a youth, a teenager, walked over her to her and said, Hey, I just feel like God told you know, like she's a student going to the adult.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: And it ministered to her.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: And it was like, what if she wouldn't have?
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: Then she goes on feeling like God doesn't see her.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: You know, so it was just another beautiful picture.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Of like when we do that, we're affecting things on this earth for him.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: And it's important what Kelly said of no gift that Pa says is greater than another.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: Like it's all equal.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: You can't have an imbalance of anything.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: So I just think because I sometimes I think as a church or even a culture, like where, oh, you have that?
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: Oh no, no, no.
- 22:25SPEAKER_03: You know, or especially if you're raised in the charismatic world.
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: If you're raised in the charismatic world, you want everyone who has the gift of healing, speaking in tongues, and interpretation.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: Those are like the three you want to see.
- 22:36SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 22:37SPEAKER_04: Or like uh that are fighting loud in the ones you can like see.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: See, yeah.
- 22:43SPEAKER_03: Oh, you're so special.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:45SPEAKER_03: But so is the one with the gift of faith.
- 22:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:48SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Like no, it's so true.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: And I think comparison can hinder that sometimes.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: Like, oh, I want that.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: But no, no, no.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: But God has called you to this instead.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: I think that's the just the beauty of it too.
- 23:01SPEAKER_04: I feel like without being too outward about it, we do kind of know who these people are, probably.
- 23:05SPEAKER_04: If you think about it, like, is there one person, if you're like, man, I'm really thinking about this or like praying about this?
- 23:12SPEAKER_04: There might be that one person you call typically, because they do have the spiritual gift of faith.
- 23:17SPEAKER_04: You may not have identified that, but there's someone that just like, no, let's pray for that.
- 23:22SPEAKER_04: Like, let's turn to scripture, like, let's encourage this.
- 23:24SPEAKER_04: And they just someone who always has faith when you feel like maybe you don't.
- 23:28SPEAKER_04: For sure.
- 23:28SPEAKER_04: So I feel like we do know this, but we could be knowing it stronger.
- 23:32SPEAKER_04: Like we could be operating in this stronger if we would like.
- 23:37SPEAKER_01: And I think so often we don't know because we don't know each other.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: And that's a big shape.
- 23:43SPEAKER_04: Well, and they were doing this in groups of like 20 to 40 in houses.
- 23:47SPEAKER_04: And so that's why I think life groups are so important because you do start to learn that about each other.
- 23:53SPEAKER_04: And you can have private conversations there.
- 23:55SPEAKER_04: And you can be like, I don't know, like I feel God's telling me this.
- 23:59SPEAKER_04: And someone in the group can be like, Well, last week we just read this.
- 24:03SPEAKER_04: Like this has how it goes together, you know?
- 24:06SPEAKER_04: Like always pointing it back to order and God's word.
- 24:09SPEAKER_03: Then it also gives you confidence that you can operate in your gift because you're doing it in a small group every week.
- 24:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:19SPEAKER_04: And there's room for some of my fear is like, what if I think something and I go and say, hey, like it was laid on my heart this, and they're like, no.
- 24:27SPEAKER_03: That's when you have to practice being like, you have to practice okay, I missed that.
- 24:31SPEAKER_03: And saying, Oh, go ahead, right?
- 24:33SPEAKER_03: But maybe it's coming up.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: Or they didn't want to.
- 24:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: And they don't know, you know.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: I have had someone.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: You're like, I think the thing is is to obey.
- 24:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:44SPEAKER_04: It's not up to me to well, and I shared that with someone once, and they were like, I felt very strongly I was supposed to tell someone something one time.
- 24:51SPEAKER_04: And they liked it, they're like, oh no, no, no, that wasn't me.
- 24:54SPEAKER_04: And like months later, they had like dealt with this issue that was actually pretty significant.
- 24:59SPEAKER_04: And they were like, hey, I was too ashamed to say in the moment, but I actually went and got help for that thing that you brought up to me, but didn't tell them.
- 25:07SPEAKER_04: And meanwhile, they're like, you know, getting help and all this stuff, but like didn't admit it in the moment.
- 25:12SPEAKER_04: And so it's just, and it's not, God doesn't have to like reveal all the wins to you.
- 25:16SPEAKER_04: You know, it's not about that, it's about submission to him.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: So well, and I think that's like even just Paul, you know, Paul's ministry.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: Jesus' ministry.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: If you look at Jesus' ministry, you're like, I don't think that was very successful.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: Well, look at it.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: 2,000 years later, Paul.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: Does it look like he, I mean, they're embarrassed of him in Corinth.
- 25:37SPEAKER_03: They're such a hot mess.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: And so does it look like he's leading a great ministry?
- 25:41SPEAKER_01: It really doesn't.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: But look at all these years later, you know.
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: And I had like um that voice of the martyrs newsletter, and it said in there, the measure of a great missionary isn't like what they accomplish, the measure is their obedience.
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: So, like I heard even just this morning an example about, you know, in China when all the missionaries had to be um evacuated in 1949, and they're like, failure.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: We did not accomplish establishing Christianity in China.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: And then when it reopens 50 years later and they go and there's millions of Christians in China, you're like, okay, that was not a failure.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: You know?
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: So the measure is the obedience.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: Like and I think the better you get at just doing it, then I think more often you're gonna get it right too.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: When you practice.
- 26:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Kelly, I loved what you said in your when you preached on Sunday about um Paul knew he was gonna be before kings and like leaders and stuff.
- 26:43SPEAKER_04: And the only times he was before those people was when he's like in prison.
- 26:46SPEAKER_04: He's a prisoner.
- 26:47SPEAKER_04: So it's kind of like if God came and said, Hey, you're gonna speak to celebrities, and I'm like, Awesome! And then it's like, by the way, it's gonna be because you're not gonna you're on the news for like, you know, whatever.
- 26:58SPEAKER_04: You're gonna be drunk through a bunch of stuff.
- 27:01SPEAKER_04: It's not good.
- 27:02SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 27:03SPEAKER_04: And we would be like, ooh, failure.
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: And then trying to like defend his position as an apostle along the way.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like I know.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Um, yes, I'm in chains, but you should listen to me.
- 27:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the people are like, wait, should we be?
- 27:15SPEAKER_04: I mean, think about if we had a poll today.
- 27:17SPEAKER_03: If you were in jail today, yes, and you're like, no, you guys, I'm an apostle.
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: I know you probably wouldn't say that because whatever.
- 27:24SPEAKER_03: Like, this is this word of knowledge.
- 27:26SPEAKER_03: Like I'm telling you, everyone would be like, You're in jail.
- 27:29SPEAKER_03: Kooky, do not could you imagine the internet trolls would just tear you apart.
- 27:34SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 27:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that'd be like, do not listen to it.
- 27:36SPEAKER_04: Oh, in the name of the Lord, by the way.
- 27:38SPEAKER_04: I know, yeah.
- 27:39SPEAKER_03: I just uh Paul couldn't exist today.
- 27:41SPEAKER_03: I don't think we would just all tear we would all be like Corinthians.
- 27:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it'd be hard.
- 27:47SPEAKER_03: You would hope that you wouldn't be, but I know I just think the Corinthians.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: I always thought that about the Israelites.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I definitely would have been a stiff-necked Israelite.
- 27:57SPEAKER_03: Oh, I see.
- 27:59SPEAKER_03: Like, send me back to Egypt.
- 28:01SPEAKER_03: It was so great there.
- 28:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: I know these sandals.
- 28:04SPEAKER_03: We do that in our own life, you know what I mean?
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:06SPEAKER_03: You're like, this is hard out here.
- 28:08SPEAKER_03: I want to go back.
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: And God's like, I'm trying to free you.
- 28:11SPEAKER_03: You have to do hard things.
- 28:13SPEAKER_03: We can do hard things.
- 28:14SPEAKER_01: We don't want to do hard things.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: I say that to myself every time I'm at Fitbody.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: I said literally.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: You can do hard things.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: I'm like, Jody, you can do this.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: It's like 30 dang minutes.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: 30 minutes.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: Do anything for 30 minutes.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: This is why I'm not at BitBody.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: So I'm hard.
- 28:32SPEAKER_03: You can do hard things, Tony.
- 28:34SPEAKER_03: That is literally what they say.
- 28:35SPEAKER_03: You can do hard things.
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: I'm like, not today.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: No, no, I can't.
- 28:39SPEAKER_03: Let me tell you, just like being real.
- 28:43SPEAKER_03: The twins have been so hard the last two days, and I know we're like the third full week of school.
- 28:48SPEAKER_03: So it happens every, they're exhausted, right?
- 28:50SPEAKER_03: They're not used to the routine, they're just tired.
- 28:53SPEAKER_03: And so after school, they just chill, and then at five o'clock we have dinner, and then we do homework.
- 28:59SPEAKER_03: Like, this is the routine.
- 29:00SPEAKER_03: We do homework, and then if we have something to do, we need to leave and go do that thing.
- 29:03SPEAKER_03: Well, the last two nights, for whatever reason, they're just melting down.
- 29:06SPEAKER_03: About yesterday was my I couldn't find a stuffed animal that she wanted to take with her.
- 29:12SPEAKER_03: She searched for 15 minutes.
- 29:14SPEAKER_03: Like, just find one.
- 29:16SPEAKER_03: Where did I go?
- 29:16SPEAKER_03: Any of them will do.
- 29:17SPEAKER_03: Any of them.
- 29:18SPEAKER_03: Just find one small one.
- 29:19SPEAKER_03: It had to be small.
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: Oh, when they're on a stuffed animal.
- 29:22SPEAKER_03: And she didn't want to be small.
- 29:24SPEAKER_03: She wanted this massive, like dinosaur thing.
- 29:26SPEAKER_03: And she wanted to take it to the soccer game.
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:29SPEAKER_03: No, it has to be small.
- 29:31SPEAKER_03: Meltdown.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: You're so mean.
- 29:32SPEAKER_03: So, but here's where I'm going.
- 29:34SPEAKER_03: I'm like questioning all my life choices.
- 29:38SPEAKER_03: Because I should be an empty nester.
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: Kind of.
- 29:43SPEAKER_03: You know, my Lila just went to college.
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: And so in my mind, I'm like, I could be alone right now.
- 29:48SPEAKER_03: Man.
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: I'd be so peaceful, not raising children still.
- 29:52SPEAKER_03: But I know that God called me, but it's still not that doesn't mean it's not gonna be hard.
- 29:56SPEAKER_03: And it also doesn't mean that I'm not gonna like it some days.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: But it's like, nope, you still have to do that thing because that's what I called you to do.
- 30:03SPEAKER_03: So I'm like, okay, guys, you're gonna give me the strength to parent these kids because at the moment, I'm tired.
- 30:07SPEAKER_03: I'm almost 50 years old, I'm exhausted.
- 30:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:10SPEAKER_03: And I still have a long way to go.
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: A long way to go.
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm not sure.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: So I'm just picturing Paul, like when you're talking, like he's imprisoned, he's he has the list, he's been shipwrecked, he's been torn apart, he's been beaten with ladders.
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: He's like, is this what you called me to?
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: I've been like near death multiple times.
- 30:27SPEAKER_03: He says that in uh Second Corinthians, too.
- 30:29SPEAKER_03: Like, I've been near death multiple times.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: Yet here I am.
- 30:32SPEAKER_03: Here I am.
- 30:33SPEAKER_03: And we think it should be pretty and glamorous.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: Yes, that is what I called you to.
- 30:37SPEAKER_01: I have a question for you.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: Did they learn how to tie their shoes?
- 30:40SPEAKER_03: Oh, we're still working.
- 30:41SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 30:41SPEAKER_03: One time a day, we're very good.
- 30:42SPEAKER_03: We're still doing one time a day.
- 30:44SPEAKER_03: One time a day.
- 30:44SPEAKER_03: We're really close.
- 30:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:46SPEAKER_03: We're close.
- 30:47SPEAKER_03: Now we gotta learn to kick a soccer ball.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: He was executed in Rome, beheaded.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: And do you think I mean he was thinking like, Lord, what?
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: Questioning all of his life's decisions.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: Like, what do you think?
- 31:08SPEAKER_04: Why did you choose me?
- 31:09SPEAKER_04: I wonder if he was like, Good, get me out.
- 31:11SPEAKER_02: Good, get me out of here.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: But I think now he sees the fruit of everything he's done.
- 31:19SPEAKER_03: He's like, Do you not think people are like you we know that God called Paul to do specifically what he did?
- 31:28SPEAKER_03: Like Jesus showed up to him and said, Now you're doing this.
- 31:32SPEAKER_03: But he was still beheaded.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: I think he had to remind himself over and over again.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: He spoke to me.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'm moving forward.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: He told me I am doing this.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: Why am I in jail?
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: I don't remember, but he told me, he appeared to me like reminding myself constantly, just like you are.
- 31:50SPEAKER_01: The Lord called me to this.
- 31:52SPEAKER_01: Which means he can get me through help me parent these children.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: And like you said, it doesn't mean you're gonna have a happy ending, which is anti-American.
- 32:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:05SPEAKER_03: Because then you're like, why God?
- 32:07SPEAKER_03: Why would you put him through all that stuff and he ends up beheaded?
- 32:10SPEAKER_03: Why didn't he get to just be you know swooped up into the clouds?
- 32:15SPEAKER_03: You know why?
- 32:15SPEAKER_03: Because God couldn't.
- 32:16SPEAKER_03: It tells us why in 2 Corinthians, 1 Corinthians 15.
- 32:19SPEAKER_03: Your mortal body cannot inherit Oh yes, preach it.
- 32:24SPEAKER_03: Your immortal body cannot wait, mortal into immortality, right?
- 32:29SPEAKER_03: That's why he had to die.
- 32:31SPEAKER_03: But somehow this mortal body had to die.
- 32:35SPEAKER_03: Anyway, Casey, what is your like big takeaway?
- 32:37SPEAKER_03: You have one.
- 32:38SPEAKER_04: So kind of what Mateo was saying, first of all, one of the things I really loved was in First Corinthians chapter one, um my title in you know how like some of them have little titles.
- 32:52SPEAKER_04: Mine in my NLT Bible says Christ crucified is the wisdom of God, or something like that.
- 32:59SPEAKER_04: And mine here says Christ crucified is God's power and wisdom.
- 33:03SPEAKER_04: And I just loved that thought.
- 33:05SPEAKER_04: It's talking about um for the cross's foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is like whatever.
- 33:12SPEAKER_04: What's it what's it say?
- 33:13SPEAKER_04: It's uh the power of God.
- 33:15SPEAKER_04: And um mine here says, so where's the wise person?
- 33:20SPEAKER_04: Where's the teacher?
- 33:21SPEAKER_04: Where's the philosopher?
- 33:23SPEAKER_04: Um, I don't remember what other one it says, like, where's the scholar?
- 33:26SPEAKER_04: Debater.
- 33:27SPEAKER_04: Where's the debater?
- 33:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 33:28SPEAKER_04: Um, where are the teachers?
- 33:30SPEAKER_04: And it's the NLT says, for God saw to it in his wisdom, or for God in his wisdom, he saw to it that we wouldn't come to know him through human wisdom or through the wisdom of the world.
- 33:44SPEAKER_04: And I found that like freeing for me.
- 33:48SPEAKER_04: And I love how Christy McClellan always says, like, we're gonna feast on God's word.
- 33:53SPEAKER_04: Like he's a good father and he wants to feed this to you.
- 33:56SPEAKER_04: And sometimes I get really caught in the weeds of like, I have to figure this out, or I have to study more, or I didn't study enough, or I just read a chapter day.
- 34:04SPEAKER_04: I I didn't like do a word search in my strong's exhaustive concordance, you know, stuff like that.
- 34:09SPEAKER_04: And um, so I just felt I felt really encouraged by that.
- 34:14SPEAKER_04: Like God saw to it that Casey could not figure this out in her own wisdom.
- 34:18SPEAKER_04: He's gonna feed me what I need.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: He is gonna feed me.
- 34:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:21SPEAKER_04: And so I don't need to get caught up like, well, which scholar is my favorite, which debater is my favorite?
- 34:26SPEAKER_04: Like I just was like, I need to depend on the Holy Spirit.
- 34:29SPEAKER_04: But then I loved how I felt like so.
- 34:32SPEAKER_04: It's really been a big passion of mine this year, and I spoke on it at the women's conference, um, church and like the body of Christ, um, both a New Testament model where it's in small groups, like you're doing life regularly with people, and a large congregational, like worshipful model, like all of it.
- 34:51SPEAKER_04: And then just believers as like, you know, the world, like all believers.
- 34:55SPEAKER_04: I just am so passionate about like getting in your local church, getting in your body of believers and staying and talking through stuff and just stay, stay and talk through stuff.
- 35:07SPEAKER_04: And God can start working through some of these like hard things, the nuancy things, the difficult things.
- 35:13SPEAKER_04: And a lot of it was like working through the gifts.
- 35:17SPEAKER_01: Through each other.
- 35:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:19SPEAKER_04: That's how it's done.
- 35:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:20SPEAKER_04: And it's not done by like one person.
- 35:23SPEAKER_04: Like Pastor Jamie is not everybody's touch point throughout the week.
- 35:26SPEAKER_04: I don't talk to him the most of anybody throughout the week.
- 35:30SPEAKER_04: Like my pastor, who I hear speak and teach every single week, he's not the one I talk to the most throughout the week.
- 35:37SPEAKER_04: That's only true for you, Kelly.
- 35:39SPEAKER_02: You're not true for me.
- 35:41SPEAKER_02: It's probably true for Sean.
- 35:43SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, it's probably true for Sean.
- 35:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:45SPEAKER_04: But like I'm talking most with like Matea and I are in a life group together.
- 35:50SPEAKER_04: And then like the other people I'm in a life group together, and my husband and like my mom on the phone and my friends, like I'm talking most with other people and doing life with them and like hearing difficult things.
- 36:01SPEAKER_04: And so we can't just rely on like this one podcaster, this one teacher, or this one pastor that's your favorite.
- 36:08SPEAKER_04: It's just not um, their gift is beneficial to us, like to learn from them, but they're not where your community comes from.
- 36:15SPEAKER_04: And so I've just been really passionate about like plug in and stay and like let your kids see staying and like serving hard things, working through hard things.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: Obviously, not if you're in a bad heretic situation, but I mean in a small group, working through disagreements, working through talk about them, you know, mess, working through getting on my nerves, working through all that stuff.
- 36:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:39SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say that's one of the reasons why I love to um separate like study time with communion time.
- 36:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:47SPEAKER_01: You know, so like communion time is not study time.
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: What if you only have time for one of those times?
- 36:52SPEAKER_01: Then you should just eat.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: I know, I know.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: That's what I've been trying to do.
- 36:55SPEAKER_04: I'm just I've been like, you know what?
- 36:57SPEAKER_04: Today we've got a psalm, and that's it.
- 36:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:59SPEAKER_01: But I mean, even if it's just one sentence, like I've said like feast on that.
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: That will nourish you.
- 37:06SPEAKER_01: But studying, it's empty calories, honestly.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: Cause some of the like when I told you that too about when we taught First Corinthians last semester in our small group, I had a a uh commentary, and then we had another book that I was reading on chapter just 11 and 14.
- 37:22SPEAKER_03: And then I was also, you know, just reading the Bible and then like looking, it was almost like too informate, too much information.
- 37:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:28SPEAKER_03: But I couldn't even, my brain was like so cluttered about it that I couldn't even like think straight.
- 37:33SPEAKER_03: So this semester coming in, I was like, I will do some extra like research and stuff.
- 37:39SPEAKER_03: I'm like, I just want to stick to like what is this saying?
- 37:42SPEAKER_01: Which is really perfect because this letter is a really emotional letter for him.
- 37:46SPEAKER_03: So which is gonna be hard for me because I don't really have much emotions.
- 37:50SPEAKER_02: I'm like such a big thing.
- 37:51SPEAKER_02: Maybe it'll be just perfect.
- 37:53SPEAKER_03: Um, my takeaway is still like because I preached chapter nine, I literally read it all summer long.
- 38:02SPEAKER_03: I read it from the end of May and probably until you guys, I don't know what date I preached on.
- 38:08SPEAKER_03: July.
- 38:09SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's July.
- 38:09SPEAKER_03: I actually know it was like July 13th.
- 38:11SPEAKER_03: Um but because of that, and this is where it comes like the Bible will renew your mind.
- 38:17SPEAKER_03: Like we need to renew our mind.
- 38:19SPEAKER_03: Like, take one psalm, read it for eight weeks.
- 38:22SPEAKER_03: Like everything in my life that was happening around me, I was seeing through the lens of chapter nine, which is like I have we have rights, but I'm not gonna impose my rights on you because of my love for Jesus and my love for you.
- 38:38SPEAKER_03: So we had like I was in a situation where we had to work together, lots of people had to work together to pull something off.
- 38:46SPEAKER_03: And there was lots of complaining about well, so-and-so is not doing their job, and blah, blah, blah, it's not doing their job.
- 38:52SPEAKER_03: And in my mind, I'm going, what right do you have to tell anybody else what their job is?
- 38:57SPEAKER_03: Just do your job.
- 38:58SPEAKER_03: How about that?
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: Haven't you read 1 Corinthians 9?
- 39:02SPEAKER_03: Worry about yourself and love on the people.
- 39:05SPEAKER_03: Maybe their work ethic isn't the same as yours.
- 39:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:08SPEAKER_03: Maybe you view like so many people view work different.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: Also, maybe they already did their job and so now they're not.
- 39:15SPEAKER_03: Like, there's just so many different things literally everything in my life that was happening, I'm like, it's not my right.
- 39:21SPEAKER_03: It's not right.
- 39:22SPEAKER_03: I don't have the right.
- 39:23SPEAKER_03: So, like, even like in the grocery store, I don't have the right to cut anybody off.
- 39:27SPEAKER_03: Driving, I don't have the right to cut anybody off.
- 39:29SPEAKER_03: Like, if I if my life is supposed to produce and show the love of Jesus, then I have to be very aware of myself.
- 39:37SPEAKER_03: And so that's like my whole summer.
- 39:39SPEAKER_03: Was that like just be very like socially aware, the words that come out of my mouth, everything that I'm doing, like if it's supposed to be for the glory of God, my life should look very different.
- 39:50SPEAKER_03: And some days are harder than others.
- 39:51SPEAKER_03: It's fine.
- 39:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:52SPEAKER_03: But I mean, it just still plays in my mind.
- 39:55SPEAKER_03: You don't have the right, you don't have the right, you don't have the right.
- 39:57SPEAKER_03: And then coming back to why Paul could be Paul and do what Paul did is because he had a literal encounter with Jesus, which we all can still have, we all still have access to.
- 40:08SPEAKER_03: And doing that not just once, but continuing to do that.
- 40:12SPEAKER_03: So when I'm struggling, like even yesterday, when I'm struggling with the girls, which is stupid, right?
- 40:16SPEAKER_03: It's such a stupid, like they're just crying and just unreasonable.
- 40:19SPEAKER_03: They're eight years old.
- 40:20SPEAKER_03: That's what eight-year-olds are supposed to do.
- 40:22SPEAKER_03: So I'm like, okay, God, you have to give me the strength to get through.
- 40:26SPEAKER_03: Like you can help me parent them actually for the next 10 plus years.
- 40:32SPEAKER_03: It's not just today, they're not even teenagers yet.
- 40:35SPEAKER_03: Um but it's just like Paul knew I'm called to do this, and you're gonna give me the strength to do it.
- 40:40SPEAKER_03: Like, plain and simple, like black it's black and white.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:43SPEAKER_03: So that's like we've just been playing in my mind over and over.
- 40:46SPEAKER_03: And then the other thing that I love, which I've said on the church podcast, was when Jody was speaking, and she was like, exercise is good, but it's not a good God.
- 40:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:56SPEAKER_03: Food, good, not a good God.
- 40:59SPEAKER_03: So whatever it is, fill in the blank.
- 41:01SPEAKER_03: Like it's not a good God.
- 41:02SPEAKER_03: Study, yeah.
- 41:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, study.
- 41:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, not a good God.
- 41:05SPEAKER_03: You I mean, what Casey just said, he's gonna he's not gonna use human wisdom.
- 41:09SPEAKER_03: Like intelligence is great, it's not a good God.
- 41:13SPEAKER_03: No.
- 41:14SPEAKER_03: I just love that.
- 41:14SPEAKER_03: It's been playing over and over and over in my mind, too, which is helpful in situations where you think that you are right or owed or whatever it is, and you're like, Yep, not a good God.
- 41:26SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 41:27SPEAKER_04: But he is but he is.
- 41:30SPEAKER_04: Well, you said made me think my mom always told us, because her mom always said, hold everything up to the light of scripture and check it for holes.
- 41:36SPEAKER_04: And so I always pictured like if scripture is like, you know, the sun.
- 41:42SPEAKER_04: Everything you're thinking or dealing with, if you hold it up to the light of scripture and just see like love it.
- 41:48SPEAKER_04: Well, I think she'll she'll hear this, she'll tell me if I said it wrong, but because the other thing I had in my head was like, like look at everything through the lens of scripture and like see it that way.
- 41:59SPEAKER_04: And you like, you know, it would align.
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: That's exactly what my summer was like.
- 42:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:04SPEAKER_03: You were seeing everything through the lens of the thing.
- 42:06SPEAKER_03: Through the lens of chapter nine.
- 42:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:08SPEAKER_03: And it caused you to like I behave.
- 42:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:11SPEAKER_03: So like if you want to behave differently, you're like, God, why am I just stuck in this cycle over and over?
- 42:16SPEAKER_03: You have to do something different.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: You have to do something different.
- 42:18SPEAKER_03: And start with any chap any chapter will do, actually.
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: Any chapter will chapter, even if it's Leviticus, it will still help.
- 42:26SPEAKER_03: Leviticus is more, it's gonna be a rough one.
- 42:28SPEAKER_03: But I loved that too, Kelly.
- 42:29SPEAKER_03: It'd be great.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: For me, it was the same way.
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: Like I was focused on chapter 10 from May until July.
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, and so just reading it, reading it, committing it to memory.
- 42:38SPEAKER_01: And so then it does, it colors your world differently.
- 42:43SPEAKER_01: And it's so beautiful.
- 42:44SPEAKER_01: And I'm just like, I want everyone to see this the way I'm seeing this.
- 42:48SPEAKER_01: Like, please just try it.
- 42:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I love it.
- 42:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:53SPEAKER_04: I have one thing to a little worship plug.
- 42:57SPEAKER_04: So, a part of the reason I'm very passionate about like the gathering is for worship.
- 43:02SPEAKER_04: And um, I actually went through a season where I didn't know if like corporate, like modern day worship was what we should be doing.
- 43:10SPEAKER_04: I was a little bitter and hurt and going through a weird season, but I was like, is this even biblical?
- 43:14SPEAKER_04: And um, I was actually in Israel at the time that I was dealing with this.
- 43:18SPEAKER_04: I was like, should we even be singing in church?
- 43:20SPEAKER_04: Maybe it's not biblical, which is silly.
- 43:22SPEAKER_04: I it's cover to cover.
- 43:23SPEAKER_04: They're gathering, they're singing hymns, they're singing scripture, they're encouraging each other through songs, they're remembering through songs, and it's the congregation.
- 43:30SPEAKER_03: It's not like it also circles the throne of God every single day.
- 43:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, every day, all the time for eternity.
- 43:37SPEAKER_04: It never stops.
- 43:38SPEAKER_04: And so it's everywhere.
- 43:40SPEAKER_04: Like we should be singing in church.
- 43:42SPEAKER_04: And but um one, like we're in Hebrews 10 where it says, Don't forsake the gathering of the believers.
- 43:48SPEAKER_04: Like, don't forsake that.
- 43:49SPEAKER_04: There's people that are like, oh, you know, like my it's private or it's this.
- 43:52SPEAKER_04: I'm like, you need to gather and you need to be engaged in worshiping God.
- 43:58SPEAKER_04: Like anything you Are passionate about for most people, some people doesn't.
- 44:03SPEAKER_04: It comes out like in your speech, in your face, in your body language, whether you're like watching a show you like or you hear good news, like it does come out of you what you're passionate about and what you love.
- 44:13SPEAKER_04: And so one of the changes that you'll see in the auditorium, I just like over time, I think churches tried to go like kind of dark to give you a private worship experience.
- 44:24SPEAKER_04: So two things kind of shape this too.
- 44:26SPEAKER_04: Once a long time ago, I ran into a lady and she said her daughter had walked away from the faith.
- 44:30SPEAKER_04: And she said uh to our daughter, she goes, There are 365 days in the year, and the Lord only asks for 52 of them.
- 44:37SPEAKER_04: And I was like, What?
- 44:39SPEAKER_04: I think he wants all of them.
- 44:40SPEAKER_04: But like that's how she raised her kids.
- 44:42SPEAKER_04: Like, God wants 52 days.
- 44:44SPEAKER_04: That's it.
- 44:44SPEAKER_04: Attend church.
- 44:45SPEAKER_04: And all of them are not believers anymore.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: You could use that same argument towards your parents, you know, like, hey, I'll be your daughter once a week.
- 44:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:55SPEAKER_04: Nope.
- 44:56SPEAKER_04: So I was just like, no.
- 44:58SPEAKER_04: And then the other one is um like people saying, like, oh, well, that's private.
- 45:03SPEAKER_04: Like that's to me, or that's the that's between, or I go to church to church is where we go to meet with God.
- 45:08SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, no, no, no, no, no.
- 45:10SPEAKER_04: Church is where we go to meet with believers to declare who God is.
- 45:13SPEAKER_04: And so we're actually changing the lights in the auditorium right now to where everyone can see everyone.
- 45:20SPEAKER_04: We're not gonna be in these little dark private pockets, you know.
- 45:23SPEAKER_04: And we haven't, we don't keep it pitch black in there anyway.
- 45:26SPEAKER_04: But we're trying to like bring like we're spreading out the stage lights to where it's like we are all in this together.
- 45:33SPEAKER_04: It's not like we're not just kind of, you know, updoing something for fun.
- 45:38SPEAKER_04: Worship's not the warm-up like for service, you know what I mean?
- 45:42SPEAKER_04: Or the concert.
- 45:43SPEAKER_04: People are like, I really enjoy the concert.
- 45:45SPEAKER_04: It's not just for what it is.
- 45:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 45:48SPEAKER_04: It's so anyway, start congregationally worshiping the Lord with us.
- 45:54SPEAKER_04: That'd be great.
- 45:56SPEAKER_03: What do you have for us, Jody?
- 45:57SPEAKER_03: What is the your biggest takeaway from First Corinthians?
- 46:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's remember I started.
- 46:02SPEAKER_03: Oh, you did?
- 46:02SPEAKER_03: And I thought Matea started.
- 46:04SPEAKER_01: No, she did.
- 46:05SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 46:06SPEAKER_03: What did you say?
- 46:06SPEAKER_03: Remind me.
- 46:07SPEAKER_03: I already forgot.
- 46:08SPEAKER_03: Context.
- 46:09SPEAKER_03: Oh, oh, oh, oh.
- 46:10SPEAKER_03: Translation.
- 46:10SPEAKER_03: Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 46:12SPEAKER_03: How was Greek for the summer?
- 46:13SPEAKER_03: I'm so jealous of your life, Jody.
- 46:15SPEAKER_03: No, it's really hard.
- 46:19SPEAKER_01: Your summer was so great.
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: My summer was like, No, we have PTSD for my summer.
- 46:24SPEAKER_01: I had 10 days between classes, and so I like paddleboard, bike road, pickleballed, had a fresh brain.
- 46:31SPEAKER_03: And now I'm like, well, that is hard, but I'm so proud of you.
- 46:35SPEAKER_01: No, but it is exciting.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: I still haven't heard if I pass or if I have to repeat it.
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: I'm like dying.
- 46:40SPEAKER_01: Are you on the grade like live?
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: This is different.
- 46:43SPEAKER_01: Like you just have to have had Greek, so you have to be competent.
- 46:47SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 46:48SPEAKER_03: So like you just one semester, you have to be competent.
- 46:50unknown: Right.
- 46:51SPEAKER_03: Do you feel competent?
- 46:52SPEAKER_03: What does competent mean?
- 46:54SPEAKER_01: It means like you can read Greek.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: It doesn't mean you have the vocabulary, but you could sound it out.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: You can understand what the verbs are doing.
- 47:06SPEAKER_03: I could not maybe read some of it.
- 47:10SPEAKER_01: Like I'm thinking, like, I think it's mostly to a Spanish-speaking country and pick up every fourth word.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: You don't understand things, so just slow down with what you're saying.
- 47:20SPEAKER_03: Well, I hope you pass.
- 47:20SPEAKER_01: I hope you don't have to do it again.
- 47:21SPEAKER_01: I hope I don't have to do it again.
- 47:22SPEAKER_03: If you do it again, though, you'll have a head start.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: What I was thinking when he was saying you can sing in church is last night I was with the um preschoolers and a little boy had brought a guitar.
- 47:36SPEAKER_01: Oh and it was so cute.
- 47:39SPEAKER_01: And so we each took turns like singing a song.
- 47:43SPEAKER_01: And he would play?
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: No, we each got he would like a teacher.
- 47:47SPEAKER_01: He played dancing.
- 47:48SPEAKER_01: And so I was like, Oh my gosh, you guys are cute.
- 47:52SPEAKER_01: Anyway, when Summit would get up there, I'm like, what is he singing?
- 47:58SPEAKER_01: Was he singing?
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: They weren't words.
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: Maybe someone needed to interpret.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure.
- 48:05SPEAKER_04: He sings a lot, but he doesn't sing songs.
- 48:07SPEAKER_04: He just kind of like, whoa.
- 48:09SPEAKER_01: He kept repeating the phrase over and over again.
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 48:13SPEAKER_04: But you couldn't make it out if you felt inspired.
- 48:16SPEAKER_04: He's interesting.
- 48:17SPEAKER_04: So funny.
- 48:19SPEAKER_04: He can talk.
- 48:19SPEAKER_04: He's a lot of words.
- 48:20SPEAKER_04: We had a lot of fun with that guitar.
- 48:22SPEAKER_04: Thanks, Brooks.
- 48:23SPEAKER_03: That's so cute.
- 48:24SPEAKER_03: That is adorable.
- 48:26SPEAKER_03: See, maybe I should tell the girls do you have a guitar?
- 48:28SPEAKER_03: You can take that to soccer game.
- 48:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, think so.
- 48:31SPEAKER_03: Strum it when we score.
- 48:32SPEAKER_03: That's what I'm saying.
- 48:33SPEAKER_05: Never get annoying.
- 48:34SPEAKER_03: Never.
- 48:40SPEAKER_03: Now it has to stay at school.
- 48:42SPEAKER_03: Thank you forever made that rule.
- 48:44SPEAKER_03: But Mariah did bring hers home like last week.
- 48:46SPEAKER_03: I was like, put it away.
- 48:47SPEAKER_03: No.
- 48:48SPEAKER_03: The worst instrument ever created is the recorder.
- 48:52SPEAKER_03: It's probably gonna be in hell.
- 48:53SPEAKER_03: It will not be in heaven.
- 48:56SPEAKER_03: It's like the harp and the wire.
- 48:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:58SPEAKER_03: There's no recorder.
- 49:00SPEAKER_03: There's a flute, I think.
- 49:01SPEAKER_01: Isn't that true?
- 49:01SPEAKER_01: That's probably better than a recorder.
- 49:03SPEAKER_04: I bet that's a modern word.
- 49:05SPEAKER_01: No, there's flutes in the Old Testament.
- 49:06SPEAKER_04: I know, but I wonder if they were flutes back then.
- 49:09SPEAKER_04: Oh, if it's like the same thing.
- 49:11SPEAKER_01: There was probably like a pipe.
- 49:11SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 49:12SPEAKER_03: Like if they weren't made of flat.
- 49:13SPEAKER_03: I think of like a bamboo.
- 49:15SPEAKER_03: You know those things where all the sticks together.
- 49:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:17SPEAKER_03: Like a Native American thing.
- 49:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:20SPEAKER_03: I wasn't there.
- 49:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:21SPEAKER_01: Those are pretty.
- 49:22SPEAKER_03: Jody, would you like to pray for us?
- 49:25SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 49:26SPEAKER_01: Can I say no?
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: No.
- 49:30SPEAKER_01: I'm like, where am I?
- 49:32SPEAKER_01: How do I wrap this up?
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: Hmm.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 49:36SPEAKER_01: Let me pray.
- 49:37SPEAKER_01: Jesus, we love you.
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: Over and over in this letter, Paul calls you Jesus Christ the Lord.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: Or the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: And I'm just reminded that Jesus was your name.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: And that's it.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: Christ was your title.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: Lord was your title.
- 50:01SPEAKER_01: King, Master.
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: Jesus is your name.
- 50:05SPEAKER_01: And so we fix our eyes on you.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: We give our allegiance to you, King Jesus, our master, because you love us and you want us to flourish and you want us to partner with you using all of our gifts in the body of Christ so that others will know and see our unity and our love for each other and that will point to you.
- 50:32SPEAKER_01: So would you help us to be the body of Christ in the building and out of the building?
- 50:36SPEAKER_01: In Jesus' name.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: Amen.
