- 0:00Apple says affected iphone 18 pro max phones on at and t must be replaced, not patched. This
- 0:07is MAG 7 Daily, episode 11. At the top of the tape, Apple said on october 2nd that a small
- 0:13number of those phones can drop cellular service, so calls, texts, and mobile data stop. Bloomberg
- 0:20says the bug hits customers who recently upgraded. Apple shipped iOS 27.0.1 earlier in the week,
- 0:28Plus, an AT&T Carrier Settings update on October 2nd.
- 0:32And it wants every iPhone 18 Pro Max owner to install the software update now.
- 0:38The path is Settings, General, then Software Update.
- 0:42The carrier update should download by itself over the next 14 days.
- 0:46Opening Settings, General, then About, can force it.
- 0:50Owners of phones that already lost service are told to contact Apple Support or AT&T,
- 0:56or to walk into an Apple store or an AT&T store.
- 1:00Apple says it has seen this only on that one model,
- 1:03and only on AT&T.
- 1:06Apple is also planning new privacy controls on the Mac.
- 1:09Bloomberg says the warning is about broad data access
- 1:12for third-party software,
- 1:14including artificial intelligence agents.
- 1:17Mac stories calls the plan
- 1:19new full-disc access controls on Mac developers.
- 1:23R's Technica sets that against meta.
- 1:25Meta says FDA is not enough for muse reading messages and Apple disagrees.
- 1:31Meta wants muse in a television and in a toaster.
- 1:35TechCrunch reported on October 2nd that Meta is giving the code away for free so other
- 1:40companies can build those gadgets.
- 1:42Google is cutting which Gemini models the lower tiers can open, XDA reports.
- 1:48On October 9th, free users lose flash and keep only flash light.
- 1:52Google AI Plus loses Gemini Pro and keeps flash and flashlight.
- 1:57Plus, subscribers get an email naming the day Pro ends,
- 2:01and they still keep the storage that comes with the tier.
- 2:04AI Pro and Ultra keep Pro.
- 2:07Google says every other subscription tier is unchanged.
- 2:10The Netherlands is considering a ban on Meta's AI glasses,
- 2:14business insider reports, and some retailers have already pulled them from shelves.
- 2:18A separate report says a Dutch retailer has halted sales.
- 2:23Microsoft is pushing the date when usage-based billing becomes the default for co-pilot out to December 1st, CRN reports.
- 2:30That change also adds a spending cap.
- 2:33Amazon's $1 billion plan to answer data center opposition is drawing more backlash, or as Technica reports.
- 2:41The same piece praises Amazon for ending non-disclosure agreements and slams it for downplaying data center pollution.
- 2:47That replacement order sits against thousands of complaints on the Apple support community
- 2:53and other platforms, Mac rumors reports, next to Apple's phrase a small number.
- 2:59US iPhone 18 Pro Max models use Qualcomm's Snapdragon X80 modem.
- 3:05Models sold in every other country use Apple's C2 modem, and Mac rumors says it is unclear
- 3:11whether that's split matters.
- 3:13It is also unclear whether Apple will open a service program.
- 3:17MacRumors says it sounds as if Apple stores will replace affected phones for free.
- 3:22Across the seven, the robot brainwound that touches Nvidia and Meta is a $700 million raise at a
- 3:29$10 billion valuation. Benzinga reports from a Friday business insider account. That is more than
- 3:36four times a $2 billion valuation from just over a year ago. Which venture firm led this round
- 3:42is not clear. A person familiar with the deal says field AI has added at least 35 million
- 3:48dollars in revenue and customer contracts since June, taking the total above 135 million dollars.
- 3:55The California company was founded in 2023 and is building what it calls a universal general
- 4:01purpose brain for humanoid robots, robot dogs, drones, and industrial rovers. Last year,
- 4:07it raised $405 million across two rounds at that $2 billion mark.
- 4:13Backers then included N Ventures and Vidya's Venture Arm and Intel Capital, plus Bezos
- 4:19Expeditions, Gates Frontier, Samsung, Coastal Ventures, Tomasik, Prysm Capital, and Cain
- 4:26and Partners.
- 4:27Field AI did not immediately answer Benzinga.
- 4:30Chief Executive Ali Aga told Business Insider in June, we have seen very, very fast growth
- 4:37in the last several months.
- 4:38The new valuation sits near physical intelligence at roughly $11 billion, and skilled AI at more
- 4:45than $14 billion.
- 4:47The $10 billion mark is a bet that the brain works in unpredictable places, not on one
- 4:53task in a controlled room.
- 4:55A citriny research report in September, after meetings with robotics labs, engineers and
- 5:00investors in the San Francisco Bay Area, found most humanoid robots still in development,
- 5:06and training or tele-operated demonstrations.
- 5:09Those deployments look closer to pilots
- 5:11than to a clear return.
- 5:13The same report says basic humanoid walking
- 5:16is effectively solved, and complex dexterity is not.
- 5:20On October 9, 2026, free users of Google Gemini
- 5:24lose flash and keep only flash light.
- 5:27On December 1, 2026, usage-based billing becomes the default
- 5:31for Microsoft co-pilot, with a spending cap added.
- 5:34Before we go, October 9th is the day free Gemini users lose flash.
