- 2:21Speaker 1: hopefully you can hear me. It's raining here in central Mississippi.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I got like a small cloud right over the house,
- 2:26Speaker 1: and on the radar, it's just one blip.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah, this is Mississippi in a nutshell. I see my
- 2:32Speaker 2: screen is frozen up. Do not be alarmed. If you
- 2:35Speaker 2: can hear me, we're good. There's something going on with
- 2:38Speaker 2: the front camera on my phone, and I have no
- 2:42Speaker 2: idea why it does this, but for a little bit,
- 2:45Speaker 2: it buffers the video. But I think you can probably
- 2:48Speaker 2: hear me okay.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 2:49Speaker 1: No, we hear you loud and clear. Appreciate it. Make
- 2:51Speaker 1: sure to give Robbie a follow-up.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Check him out.
- 2:52Speaker 1: We'll tell you about State 1878 before we get out
- 2:55Speaker 1: of here with Robbie. All right, so Mississippi State takes
- 2:58Speaker 1: it on the chin to Alabama. Things that could have
- 3:02Speaker 1: gone wrong went wrong. You know, Kamario Taylor drops a football,
- 3:05Speaker 1: throws the big six. That's going to happen. You know,
- 3:07Speaker 1: I had some people freaking out on Saturday. I know
- 3:10Speaker 1: you guys had a ton of people probably freaking out.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I said, hey, look, Tom Brady– I think it was
- 3:15Speaker 1: six times through four picks in a ballgame. I mean,
- 3:18Speaker 1: quarterbacks make mistakes. Your thoughts on that ballgame, but more specifically,
- 3:23Speaker 1: the injury possibly to Kamario Taylor, Fluff, Bothwell, and then
- 3:26Speaker 1: a couple defensive players.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, when I got on with you last
- 3:31Speaker 2: week and all the interviews I did, some of the
- 3:35Speaker 2: things that really concern me about this game is that
- 3:38Speaker 2: Mississippi State wasn't healthy, and I'd Really kind of shuddered
- 3:41Speaker 2: to bring that up because I didn't want to deal
- 3:43Speaker 2: with people saying, oh, you're just making excuses. But it
- 3:46Speaker 2: is a very real thing going on in Mississippi State.
- 3:49Speaker 2: And I guess my point with all that is Mississippi
- 3:52Speaker 2: State cannot afford to have injuries on this team. And
- 3:58Speaker 2: they can't afford to make mistakes to beat teams like Alabama.
- 4:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:03Speaker 2: And that's a reverence to Alabama. That's giving them their
- 4:07Speaker 2: props because Mississippi State is just not in the position
- 4:10Speaker 2: at this point where they can lose a guy like
- 4:14Speaker 2: Fluff Bothwell and lose Travion Williams and Zachary Tillman and
- 4:20Speaker 2: feel really good about themselves still. Alabama is in a
- 4:22Speaker 2: position where they can do that. You look at Alabama's
- 4:26Speaker 2: injury report, I've had some Alabama fans saying, we have
- 4:28Speaker 2: a lot more people out than Mississippi State. well, you're
- 4:31Speaker 2: replacing a five-star with a high four-star or another five-star.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Mississippi State does not have that luxury right now. And
- 4:40Speaker 2: they very much are dealing with an injury issue at
- 4:45Speaker 2: this stage, which is really concerning about you look at
- 4:49Speaker 2: the rest of the season and the schedule that they have,
- 4:51Speaker 2: and there is a possibility for this team to win
- 4:54Speaker 2: eight games or more. And to do that, they're going
- 4:58Speaker 2: to have to have fluff Bothwell and pretty good shape.
- 5:00Speaker 2: They're going to have to have Camaro Taylor and pretty
- 5:02Speaker 2: good shape.
- 5:03Speaker 3: And right now they're not.
- 5:04Speaker 2: And when are they going to be able to heal
- 5:07Speaker 2: up is the question and you get a week off.
- 5:11Speaker 2: And I imagine next week too, is going to be
- 5:13Speaker 2: pretty much a week off for those guys if they're available. And, um,
- 5:17Speaker 2: I haven't heard anything to the contrary. I know rumors
- 5:20Speaker 2: have been swirling on both of them today. I have
- 5:23Speaker 2: not heard anything, um, super long term as far as
- 5:27Speaker 2: keeping those players out, but we won't know anything for
- 5:31Speaker 2: sure until next week whenever State goes to LSU and
- 5:35Speaker 2: plays that football game.
- 5:38Speaker 1: The injury to Kamaru Taylor, is it turf toe?
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yes, and he's got several things. I think he tweaked
- 5:46Speaker 2: an ankle. I think he's had a little hamstring issue,
- 5:49Speaker 2: but yes, he is dealing with some turf toe and
- 5:52Speaker 2: last week was also sick.
- 5:54Speaker 3: As well, so And that's a very tricky situation.
- 5:57Speaker 2: The first time I remember hearing about turf toe was
- 5:59Speaker 2: Wayne Mackin in 2001, maybe. And I think he was
- 6:05Speaker 2: out for the season after dealing with his late that year.
- 6:09Speaker 2: But as you know, covering sportsmen, it's a tricky injury
- 6:14Speaker 2: that doesn't just heal up right away. I mean, that's
- 6:18Speaker 2: something that can take some time.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Let me ask you about a couple quarterbacks on that roster. And,
- 6:24Speaker 1: of course, we all hope Kamario Taylor plays. We get
- 6:26Speaker 1: the best of Kamario Taylor. And maybe it's that he
- 6:28Speaker 1: doesn't play for a couple weeks, and we'll see what
- 6:30Speaker 1: that November schedule, you know, holds for Mississippi State. We
- 6:33Speaker 1: got a chance to see, you know, Billy Puckett a
- 6:36Speaker 1: couple series the other day. What's the vibe on Jaden Rashada?
- 6:42Speaker 1: And the reason I ask that is because he was
- 6:44Speaker 1: such a highly thought-of prospect. I mean, has he come
- 6:48Speaker 1: up at all?
- 6:50Speaker 3: Not really, Jake.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I mean, he just hasn't really been able to get
- 6:55Speaker 2: footing in that quarterback race. It was really kind of
- 6:59Speaker 2: a Billy Puckett and A.J. Swann battle there behind Kamaru
- 7:04Speaker 2: Taylor from what I could gather in the training camp
- 7:08Speaker 2: portion of things.
- 7:10Speaker 3: And Billy Puckett just.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Went there and won that number two job. I mean,
- 7:14Speaker 2: he was just, quite frankly, was outstanding. And I'm not
- 7:18Speaker 2: trying to hype him up to anything more than what
- 7:21Speaker 2: he can be, but he was really good in how
- 7:24Speaker 2: he commanded the offense and how he approached every single day.
- 7:27Speaker 2: In scrimmages, he was really good as well. But we
- 7:31Speaker 2: just haven't seen Jaden Rashada and A.J. Swann come in
- 7:35Speaker 2: and really take control right behind Kamaru Taylor. It has
- 7:38Speaker 2: been kind of Billy Puckett's thing. It hasn't been that
- 7:41Speaker 2: those guys have been terrible or bad. It's that Billy
- 7:45Speaker 2: Puckett was the guy that was the consistent guy behind
- 7:47Speaker 2: Kamaru Taylor. Everything that he did every single day, he
- 7:51Speaker 2: was able to come into the building, as Jeff Flebby
- 7:55Speaker 2: would say, and take care of his business. He can
- 7:59Speaker 2: make the throws. He's sneaky athletic. He was really good
- 8:03Speaker 2: in training camp.
- 8:05Speaker 1: When you look at Fluff Bothwell, do you expect to
- 8:07Speaker 1: have him back next week?
- 8:10Speaker 3: We'll see.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I really thought that he would be hampered, but ready
- 8:15Speaker 2: to go this week.
- 8:16Speaker 3: I think he just got out there and it just.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Was not a good feeling for him. So I don't
- 8:25Speaker 2: see something being long-term with him, but it is something
- 8:29Speaker 2: to monitor for sure. I think it is a good
- 8:31Speaker 2: thing that he was suited up and he was ready
- 8:35Speaker 2: to play and he probably could have played if they
- 8:38Speaker 2: really wanted to push him. And now you get a
- 8:41Speaker 2: week or two off, you really need to get him
- 8:44Speaker 2: closer to a hundred percent. Like he, he needs to
- 8:46Speaker 2: be a guy that we don't need to see what
- 8:48Speaker 2: we saw late last season when they, I feel like
- 8:50Speaker 2: they rushed him back a little bit. Maybe he rushed
- 8:53Speaker 2: back a little bit on that ankle and he never
- 8:55Speaker 2: got back to his true self and it never was
- 8:58Speaker 2: able to heal properly. He needs to heal pretty, pretty
- 9:01Speaker 2: well over the next couple of weeks because they're going
- 9:03Speaker 2: to desperately need him against LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, and those teams.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Now, obviously Mississippi state, you know, Five carried the load
- 9:12Speaker 1: there for them. J.J. Hill got some time. Could we
- 9:15Speaker 1: expect to see maybe more of a J.J. Hill presence
- 9:18Speaker 1: in this offense over the next couple weeks?
- 9:20Speaker 3: I think you have to.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I mean, that's a guy that's a little different than
- 9:24Speaker 2: what you have back there with Colin Wilson and Xavier Gaten.
- 9:27Speaker 3: They're more.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Kind of speed guys that can break away and get
- 9:32Speaker 2: a big run for you. Although Colin Wilson, I think,
- 9:36Speaker 2: to me is a little– underrated as far as being
- 9:40Speaker 2: able to shed tackles we didn't see this much last
- 9:43Speaker 2: week but JJ Hill is that low center of gravity
- 9:48Speaker 2: you know if you're going arm tackles with that guy
- 9:52Speaker 2: you're not gonna bring him down if you're hitting him
- 9:53Speaker 2: up high you're not gonna bring him down he is
- 9:56Speaker 2: a load back there and I know that he's a
- 9:59Speaker 2: true freshman there's some things that he probably has to
- 10:02Speaker 2: improve on back there and you definitely probably got to
- 10:05Speaker 2: get better as far as pass blocking things like that
- 10:09Speaker 2: but that might be a guy that you got to
- 10:10Speaker 2: throw into the the mix a little more i mean
- 10:13Speaker 2: just to give you someone that's capable of of making
- 10:17Speaker 2: a one-yard gain into a seven-yard gain. That is a
- 10:21Speaker 2: capable back there. Let him wear it a little bit.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Let some of those younger guys get in there and
- 10:26Speaker 2: run a little bit and prepare him for next year
- 10:28Speaker 2: because Fluff Bothwell, now two seasons in a row, has
- 10:32Speaker 2: been beaten up, and you've got to have next man
- 10:35Speaker 2: up for Mississippi State. They've talked about this room. Before
- 10:40Speaker 2: the season, they talked about how they wanted to be
- 10:42Speaker 2: a committee and they wanted to have a full running
- 10:45Speaker 2: back room that they can rely on and not just
- 10:47Speaker 2: worrying about one guy. This is your opportunity here. Cooper Crosby,
- 10:50Speaker 2: can you get some of those guys in the mix
- 10:52Speaker 2: and let them go a little bit? That would take
- 10:55Speaker 2: a lot of load off your offense, I think, and
- 10:58Speaker 2: off of guys like Fluff Bothwell and Kamaria Taylor.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how Jeff Levy,
- 11:03Speaker 1: and you mentioned it, and it's not an excuse. With
- 11:06Speaker 1: the rosters the way they're built now monetarily, we know
- 11:10Speaker 1: kind of about numbers. I mean, you get different, different
- 11:13Speaker 1: outlets that report the athletic and others that do their homework.
- 11:16Speaker 1: And you guys are probably all over that too on,
- 11:18Speaker 1: you know, we know that Alabama spends about X Mississippi
- 11:21Speaker 1: state spends about Y, um, but state still kind of
- 11:24Speaker 1: at a deficit in that when you start getting into
- 11:26Speaker 1: the Texas's and LSU's and Alabama's that's, that's not an excuse.
- 11:29Speaker 1: That's just the nature of the game. So with that said,
- 11:32Speaker 1: with LSU coming up, um, you know, a trip to Texas, Oklahoma,
- 11:36Speaker 1: you know, sandwiched in there, um, is a situation where
- 11:40Speaker 1: you maybe don't rush these guys back. Maybe you get
- 11:42Speaker 1: them back by Oklahoma and see. And for Taylor, depending
- 11:46Speaker 1: on what it may be, you may actually try to
- 11:48Speaker 1: push him out to November. I hate to say that,
- 11:50Speaker 1: depending on how severe it is, because November looks to
- 11:53Speaker 1: be an easier schedule.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I was not of that opinion going
- 11:57Speaker 2: into the Alabama game. But I do think that right now,
- 12:03Speaker 2: like your best bet here on the back half of
- 12:06Speaker 2: the schedule of picking up some wins– is going to
- 12:09Speaker 2: be a healthier Camario Taylor and a healthier Fluff Bothwell.
- 12:15Speaker 2: And I just don't see these guys getting a whole
- 12:18Speaker 2: lot healthier taking the hits that they're about to take
- 12:22Speaker 2: because LSU and Texas, the defenses that they have, we
- 12:27Speaker 2: know they're going to bring pressure. We know that Camario
- 12:29Speaker 2: Taylor is going to take hits. I'm not saying that
- 12:32Speaker 2: you concede these ballgames, and that's certainly not the mindset
- 12:37Speaker 2: that they would have going in But you do have
- 12:40Speaker 2: to think about protecting your quarterback and your running back
- 12:43Speaker 2: here long-term this season and making sure that those guys
- 12:48Speaker 2: are available for you late in the year because there
- 12:50Speaker 2: are very winnable games there in that four-game stretch with
- 12:54Speaker 2: Auburn and Vanderbilt, Tennessee Tech, Ole Miss. I mean, that's
- 12:59Speaker 2: a big part of your season right there, and some
- 13:01Speaker 2: big things can happen. And, you know, I guess it
- 13:05Speaker 2: just boils down to the players too. I mean– I
- 13:08Speaker 2: don't foresee Kamario Taylor's being on board with that. You know,
- 13:13Speaker 2: I don't foresee him saying, yeah, you know what, I agree.
- 13:17Speaker 2: We probably need to sit this thing out for a
- 13:19Speaker 2: couple of games. I just don't see it. If he
- 13:21Speaker 2: can walk, he's going to get out on the field
- 13:23Speaker 2: and play.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Let's talk about some of the good stuff, which is
- 13:27Speaker 1: a lot of good stuff. Anthony Evans. You know, it's
- 13:29Speaker 1: amazing to me, a guy like Anthony Evans, that some
- 13:32Speaker 1: receivers just find grass. And, man, he can just find it.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Even though you game plan for him, What he did Saturday,
- 13:39Speaker 1: what he continues to do, man, he is on a
- 13:42Speaker 1: different level right now.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Yeah, he is really taking that next step, Jake. You
- 13:47Speaker 2: saw it last year, like opportunities growing for him in
- 13:51Speaker 2: this offense that he didn't have at Georgia. And it's
- 13:54Speaker 2: a totally different offense. I think they're utilizing him. better
- 13:57Speaker 2: than Georgia would have. But he was also behind some
- 14:01Speaker 2: really good wide receivers there. So coming to Mississippi State,
- 14:05Speaker 2: they saw the skill set. They put him in position.
- 14:07Speaker 2: This offense just kind of breeds numbers for wide receivers.
- 14:11Speaker 2: But you're starting to see him really develop. And I
- 14:13Speaker 2: think the first week I got on here with you,
- 14:17Speaker 2: I told you that I think as this year goes on,
- 14:21Speaker 2: everybody's going to see the influence of Phillip Montgomery at
- 14:24Speaker 2: wide receiver coach. And I think you're starting to see it.
- 14:27Speaker 2: The development that these wide receivers are having, it's not
- 14:31Speaker 2: just go routes for these guys. I mean, they are
- 14:34Speaker 2: developing as wide receivers. Their route tree is growing. They're
- 14:39Speaker 2: becoming a more sophisticated wide receiver group. I think that
- 14:44Speaker 2: Anthony Evans is right there at the forefront, and you
- 14:47Speaker 2: look at the improvement that he's made. Even from last year,
- 14:51Speaker 2: he was an 800-plus yard receiver last season. but he's
- 14:54Speaker 2: already surpassed his touchdown total from last season. He is,
- 14:59Speaker 2: within the next couple of games, probably going to surpass
- 15:02Speaker 2: what he did yardage-wise.
- 15:05Speaker 3: If he stays healthy, he will be.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Your all-time leader in receiving in a single season, and
- 15:11Speaker 2: that's pretty special. But he has been just simply outstanding.
- 15:17Speaker 2: I go back to that play he made in the
- 15:20Speaker 2: game a couple weeks ago against Missouri, that diving catch.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I mean, it's not just the ability, it's the effort
- 15:27Speaker 2: and how hard he's playing that's been so impressive.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Yeah, even starting to see some tight end sightings. Sam
- 15:34Speaker 1: West getting some of those H-backs involved, kind of really
- 15:37Speaker 1: working a lot of different pieces in the offense.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and they need those tight ends to step up.
- 15:42Speaker 2: But you've got to have that position, I think, in
- 15:45Speaker 2: this offense. And we've watched this offense over the years,
- 15:48Speaker 2: whether it be him leading at Central Florida or Ole
- 15:52Speaker 2: Miss or Oklahoma. what Lane Kiffin and company have done
- 15:56Speaker 2: with tight ends as well. The tight end is supposed
- 15:59Speaker 2: to be kind of a feature of this offense. It
- 16:01Speaker 2: was one of the state's best receivers the last couple years,
- 16:05Speaker 2: so did Traore, if you look at the numbers. So, yeah,
- 16:07Speaker 2: it's been nice to see Sam West get involved a
- 16:10Speaker 2: little bit more because when you've got a guy that
- 16:12Speaker 2: can leak out and that can get open and get
- 16:17Speaker 2: some big yardage for you at tight end, man, that's
- 16:19Speaker 2: a cheat code.
- 16:20Speaker 3: I mean, that's four or five.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Different receivers that you have on the field at the
- 16:24Speaker 2: same time, that's tough to defend. We saw that last
- 16:28Speaker 2: week with Sam West, and that's a really good development,
- 16:31Speaker 2: I think. You'll probably see that game grow a little
- 16:35Speaker 2: bit because defenses are starting to show that dime package,
- 16:40Speaker 2: the deep safeties, mixed-in safety help that's going to prevent
- 16:44Speaker 2: a lot of the deep passes. You're going to need
- 16:47Speaker 2: those tight ends to be at that that middle stage
- 16:50Speaker 2: of the defense making those plays.
- 16:52Speaker 3: So I think you'll see that a lot more next
- 16:53Speaker 3: few weeks.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Defensively, you know, I told people today on my show
- 16:58Speaker 1: and just the way my opinion of it is, you know,
- 17:01Speaker 1: Alabama just Alabama's really good. I mean, they are, they
- 17:03Speaker 1: looked really good. Keelan Russell's looks, looks really good. That
- 17:06Speaker 1: wide receiver group looks really good. They are, you know,
- 17:09Speaker 1: they actually run the football well early, but your thoughts
- 17:13Speaker 1: on Zach Arnett and the job he's done now, you know,
- 17:15Speaker 1: a couple of games deep into the SEC.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I don't think we all talked about
- 17:20Speaker 2: after this game, everybody was talking about Kamario Taylor's poor
- 17:24Speaker 2: play and injuries and all that stuff. I don't think
- 17:28Speaker 2: enough of us really discussed maybe Alabama's just really freaking good.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I want to know your opinion on this. That looked
- 17:39Speaker 2: like a Saban team to me. Did it not to you,
- 17:42Speaker 2: the physicality?
- 17:43Speaker 1: It did, because they came out and they tried to,
- 17:46Speaker 1: put their hand in the ground, and they did it.
- 17:48Speaker 1: And they were able to establish the run game, you know,
- 17:49Speaker 1: be it through, you know, Hill or a different back
- 17:54Speaker 1: or through the quarterback run. I mean, they looked really good.
- 17:57Speaker 1: And they started physically. They moved Mississippi State off the line.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Then they went to the pass game. Then the play-action
- 18:02Speaker 1: game came back to the run game. Defensively, they were
- 18:04Speaker 1: able to sometimes get pressure with three guys on the
- 18:06Speaker 1: defensive front. So, yeah, it looked very 7-S to me
- 18:09Speaker 1: for sure.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and, you know, they're doing some of that H-back,
- 18:13Speaker 2: tight end stuff. Their tight ends are really good. a
- 18:16Speaker 2: big part of what they're doing offensively. It just looked,
- 18:19Speaker 2: I mean, it looked like it's sometimes like 2012 Bama,
- 18:24Speaker 2: like the early Saban teams. But, you know, the physicality
- 18:28Speaker 2: up front was really impressive from them. I mean, they
- 18:30Speaker 2: just physically dominated Mississippi State. I don't think State is
- 18:35Speaker 2: an inferior, like, you know, I don't think they lack physicality,
- 18:40Speaker 2: but they're just not as physical as what we saw
- 18:43Speaker 2: with Alabama. And so when you talk about Zach Arnett's defense,
- 18:47Speaker 2: I think he's doing a good job. I just think
- 18:50Speaker 2: State got absolutely worked in this game from a physicality standpoint.
- 18:55Speaker 2: They are dealing with a lot of injuries there, too,
- 18:58Speaker 2: up front. Jalen Smith looks like he might be out.
- 19:02Speaker 2: For an extended amount of time, if not the season,
- 19:05Speaker 2: Isaac Smith still dealing with an injury. You've lost two
- 19:07Speaker 2: defensive linemen. This team is just not built yet to
- 19:12Speaker 2: be what they need to be under Zach Arnett. And
- 19:16Speaker 2: I think we saw that against Alabama. It's going to
- 19:18Speaker 2: be tough again against teams like Texas and LSU, too,
- 19:22Speaker 2: with what they do from a physicality standpoint. So, you know,
- 19:27Speaker 2: it's a work in progress, but we have seen some
- 19:30Speaker 2: good things from that defense. I'm not punting on Zach
- 19:34Speaker 2: Arnett by any means, based on what we saw last week.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I think Keelan Russell might be, even who he is
- 19:41Speaker 2: and where he's playing, I still think he might be
- 19:44Speaker 2: one of the most underrated players in the country. I
- 19:46Speaker 2: don't think he's being talked about enough.
- 19:49Speaker 1: No, I agree. And, look, he'll be on, you know,
- 19:51Speaker 1: Spotlight 1 this weekend against Georgia. And, you know, I
- 19:54Speaker 1: think what we're seeing, and we'll continue to see this,
- 19:56Speaker 1: is Bama and Georgia, Texas, we'll see how, you know,
- 19:59Speaker 1: they're built like a machine. They don't typically play like
- 20:02Speaker 1: a machine. Those teams are at a different level. Maybe
- 20:05Speaker 1: even LSU because of the money. And then you look
- 20:08Speaker 1: next level down. I mean, you see what, you know,
- 20:10Speaker 1: State beats Missouri. Missouri beats Florida, who walked Ole Miss. So,
- 20:14Speaker 1: you know, you're going to have that middle-tier group of teams,
- 20:17Speaker 1: Tennessee's right there, maybe Auburn's right there, that you're just
- 20:20Speaker 1: going to have a cluster of teams that potentially could
- 20:23Speaker 1: be 8-4, 9-3. And this is just the way I
- 20:25Speaker 1: feel about it with a nine-game schedule. If you're used
- 20:28Speaker 1: to being a 10-2 team, 9-3 may be the norm.
- 20:30Speaker 1: If it's 8-4, it may be 7-5. Where State lands,
- 20:34Speaker 1: a lot of that's going to depend on health. We
- 20:36Speaker 1: know that. but I think State's in that second cluster
- 20:39Speaker 1: for sure.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I don't think there's any doubt about that.
- 20:42Speaker 2: I don't look at this team and think they're head
- 20:47Speaker 2: to the playoff. That was never my expectations for Mississippi State. Now,
- 20:51Speaker 2: we talked about it last week. If they win that
- 20:52Speaker 2: ballgame against Bama, you're absolutely talking about that at that point.
- 20:57Speaker 2: But I think what this season is for Mississippi State
- 21:00Speaker 2: is that prove-it season where we are seeing a legitimate
- 21:05Speaker 2: step forward from Jeff Levy with a sophomore superstar quarterback
- 21:10Speaker 2: and all these nice players around him. And, you know,
- 21:14Speaker 2: you got some guys coming back on defense. You've seemingly
- 21:17Speaker 2: turned it around from a culture standpoint that takes you
- 21:20Speaker 2: into the off season where you can become a potential
- 21:24Speaker 2: playoff team.
- 21:25Speaker 3: I think that state has the pieces.
- 21:27Speaker 2: If they retain what they need to retain, you're selling
- 21:30Speaker 2: Camario Taylor at that point to the transfer portal and
- 21:34Speaker 2: Not to get in, but to bring people to Mississippi State.
- 21:38Speaker 2: That's kind of the goal this year. Can you get
- 21:40Speaker 2: to that eight-win mark? Because I think if this team's
- 21:43Speaker 2: an eight-win team, pushing nine possibly, you have a ton
- 21:48Speaker 2: of juice going into the offseason with what you're trying
- 21:50Speaker 2: to recruit, whether it be from the transfer portal or
- 21:53Speaker 2: in high school.
- 21:54Speaker 1: No, I agree with you. Let's finish up this, talking
- 21:56Speaker 1: about recruiting. Obviously, these classes are set way earlier. But I,
- 22:01Speaker 1: you know, thoughts on recruiting, maybe things you guys are hearing.
- 22:05Speaker 1: You know, I saw a lot of big names up there.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Josh Parker from Brandon, big time wide receiver. You probably
- 22:10Speaker 1: got a chance to see him against Starville. I mean,
- 22:11Speaker 1: he's getting a lot of looks. He was there. I
- 22:13Speaker 1: know he's a big Camario Taylor guy. Looks like a
- 22:16Speaker 1: lot of guys are starting to look towards Starville. Yeah.
- 22:19Speaker 2: And it's kind of tough at this stage of the
- 22:22Speaker 2: game to go out there and start rating the current class.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Cause it's all about relationships being built early and things
- 22:30Speaker 2: like that.
- 22:30Speaker 3: And, I think State has been kind of a.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Slow build to get back into the minds of high
- 22:36Speaker 2: school players, especially in this area. But you look at
- 22:39Speaker 2: that 2028 class, and, man, the last two weeks, the
- 22:42Speaker 2: players they've had on campus has been impressive. And, you know,
- 22:46Speaker 2: I saw Mitchell Turner there this week, the Ole Miss
- 22:49Speaker 2: commit from Louisville.
- 22:51Speaker 3: We'll see where that goes. But, obviously, he has a
- 22:53Speaker 3: good relationship with Phil Lodeholt and Jeff Lebby.
- 22:56Speaker 2: But that 28 class, I think, is where we could
- 22:59Speaker 2: see a big jump for Mississippi State. The Zayden Jernigans
- 23:03Speaker 2: and the Parkers, like you mentioned, the other Brandon player, linebacker,
- 23:09Speaker 2: Cam Roberts, like those guys are guys that Mississippi State
- 23:13Speaker 2: can start kind of flipping their mind a little bit,
- 23:16Speaker 2: you know, where State wasn't very cool a couple years
- 23:20Speaker 2: ago to a lot of these kids. This year they
- 23:23Speaker 2: see Kamario Taylor putting on for Mississippi. They see Isaac Smith.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I think they're starting to resonate a lot more with
- 23:29Speaker 2: these in-state kids, especially.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Yeah. And I know money's the big, a big part
- 23:32Speaker 1: of this, but I think to what you're saying, I mean, that,
- 23:34Speaker 1: that has a part of it to do. There's still
- 23:36Speaker 1: that part of it, right? I mean, where kids want
- 23:39Speaker 1: to find attraction to a program, be it state or
- 23:42Speaker 1: Ole Miss in state. And you're not going to go
- 23:44Speaker 1: out and beat the Michigan money and the Ohio state
- 23:46Speaker 1: money and the Miami money that some of that money
- 23:48Speaker 1: that's coming to the state. But I do think winning,
- 23:51Speaker 1: winning does cure it, cure lots of it.
- 23:53Speaker 2: And I think, For State and Ole Miss, I think
- 23:56Speaker 2: they have the same problem at times with kids in State. And,
- 24:01Speaker 2: you know, they've been a lot more successful than Mississippi
- 24:03Speaker 2: State has in recruiting those players the last few years.
- 24:06Speaker 2: But I know they're frustrated, too, with some of these
- 24:09Speaker 2: kids that go out of State. And that's something that,
- 24:12Speaker 2: you know, these two in-State schools are battling right now
- 24:15Speaker 2: with kids in Mississippi is trying to impress on them
- 24:20Speaker 2: to stay home and don't go– help another state get better.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Don't go help another team get better. You can help
- 24:28Speaker 2: the places you were born and bred right here. You
- 24:30Speaker 2: can help us get better. And so I think that
- 24:33Speaker 2: is starting to come back. There used to be a
- 24:34Speaker 2: big deal to kids in Mississippi, as you know. When
- 24:38Speaker 2: you look at Dan Mullen and Hugh Freeze and the
- 24:40Speaker 2: battles that they had, the state of Mississippi.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Was really important to a lot of these kids.
- 24:46Speaker 2: And I think that's what is starting to kind of
- 24:49Speaker 2: trickle back in because you have players– like Camario Taylor
- 24:54Speaker 2: and Isaac Smith that just said, you know what? I
- 24:56Speaker 2: can go just about anywhere in the country, but I've
- 24:59Speaker 2: decided to do something here. It means something different to
- 25:03Speaker 2: those players.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Rob, before we let you go, tell everybody about State 1878.
- 25:06Speaker 1: We want to come see you.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we had a great week last week with Hardy

- 26:05Speaker 1: kind enough to give us some time. And, of course, Rob,
- 26:08Speaker 1: you can get him every morning, 7 to 8. Or no, yeah,
- 26:15Speaker 1: 7 to 8.
- 26:15Speaker 4: No, 8 to 9. 8 to 9.
- 26:17Speaker 1: There we go. Central. Central time. Rob, appreciate you jumping
- 26:21Speaker 1: in here as always. We were just talking to Robbie
- 26:23Speaker 1: about Mississippi State, and you had texted me about Kamario
- 26:26Speaker 1: Taylor today, and it looks like this may be a
- 26:28Speaker 1: little more elongated now that the day has gone on.
- 26:31Speaker 1: It could be a turf toe with a combination of
- 26:35Speaker 1: an ankle, maybe a hamstring. He may be out for
- 26:38Speaker 1: a bit.
- 26:40Speaker 4: That hurts.
- 26:41Speaker 5: I mean, but as you get into the bigger games,
- 26:44Speaker 5: you're going to get hit a lot more, and everybody
- 26:46Speaker 5: starts figuring out what you do.
- 26:48Speaker 4: And you've got to take care of yourself.
- 26:49Speaker 5: And then just basically it's just how much does he
- 26:52Speaker 5: go in to do his rehab and work with the
- 26:54Speaker 5: strength and conditioning coaches and the doctors and all like that.
- 26:57Speaker 5: But he's a franchise player and you can build a
- 27:00Speaker 5: hell of a team around him.
- 27:02Speaker 1: No, there's no doubt. All right. State's got the week off.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Ole Miss is back in it. Let's jump right to it.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Get your thoughts. It feels like we're starting to see
- 27:10Speaker 1: a separation in the SEC. You know, we know what's
- 27:12Speaker 1: at the bottom. Bottom of the pool, we've got Arkansas,
- 27:16Speaker 1: we've got South Carolina. That's a whole other story there
- 27:18Speaker 1: with Shane Beamer. Lost another close one to Kentucky. Oklahoma
- 27:22Speaker 1: is not that good. Texas A & M is not
- 27:24Speaker 1: that good. Vanderbilt looks like they've taken a step off,
- 27:27Speaker 1: so that's kind of on the bottom. The upper end
- 27:29Speaker 1: of it, Texas is still there, and we've got the
- 27:32Speaker 1: big one this weekend, Alabama, Georgia. And I'll tell you what, Rob,
- 27:36Speaker 1: Alabama looked the part against Mississippi State. I know that
- 27:39Speaker 1: their state obviously is not where they want to be, talent-wise,
- 27:43Speaker 1: but State walked right into Starkville, put their hand on
- 27:45Speaker 1: the ground, and just ran right over them.
- 27:47Speaker 4: I mean, they did.
- 27:48Speaker 5: Alabama won 56-23, and there was no comparison. They were
- 27:53Speaker 5: also able to do tall sweeps and a lot of
- 27:55Speaker 5: stuff that we used to see 20 years ago. Mississippi
- 27:59Speaker 5: State's just got to keep stacking players.
- 28:01Speaker 4: Up, and it's so hard to build depth.
- 28:03Speaker 5: And Alabama, if you look in the last couple of years,
- 28:07Speaker 5: maybe seven or eight of the high school kids that
- 28:09Speaker 5: DeBoer has recruited have left.
- 28:11Speaker 4: The rest of them have stayed. 85% of them.
- 28:14Speaker 5: So all these high school kids that they've been banking
- 28:16Speaker 5: on are paying dividends now. And they go into the
- 28:20Speaker 5: portal somewhat, but this is a team a lot like Georgia.
- 28:25Speaker 5: They'll go into the portal at Georgia, but they're very
- 28:28Speaker 5: selective in who they take. And then you look at Clemson,
- 28:31Speaker 5: who is just gasping for air now because last year
- 28:36Speaker 5: they signed nine kids in the portal, which was like
- 28:39Speaker 5: six more than they'd signed in the previous five years combined.
- 28:43Speaker 4: Might be too late for Dabo.
- 28:44Speaker 5: And he's going to go out kicking and screaming, pulling
- 28:47Speaker 5: his record up from the past. Well, Georgia and Alabama
- 28:51Speaker 5: are doing it the right way. You build high school first,
- 28:55Speaker 5: and you're selective in who you get in the portal,
- 28:58Speaker 5: and that's why this is going to be, no question,
- 29:01Speaker 5: a much better game than Texas and Ohio State.
- 29:04Speaker 1: No, there's no doubt. Alabama has gotten the best of Georgia.
- 29:09Speaker 1: for quite a while. Now, last year, obviously, Georgia got
- 29:11Speaker 1: over in the SEC title game. They've had their moments.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Do you like Alabama and Tuscaloosa this weekend?
- 29:17Speaker 5: I do, but I'm not counting Georgia out because of
- 29:21Speaker 5: Gunnar Stockton. And their offensive line, I think, is better.
- 29:26Speaker 5: And I'm going to go with Georgia to win this game.
- 29:29Speaker 5: I think I've got Georgia playing Miami for the national championship.
- 29:34Speaker 5: I don't care who Georgia's played or hasn't played. They
- 29:38Speaker 5: grind everybody that they play up into sausage, to sawdust,
- 29:42Speaker 5: to mulch. And Alabama is really good. I think they're outstanding.
- 29:49Speaker 5: They're playing at home. But I like Georgia's defense.
- 29:54Speaker 4: They're elite. And I really think that for.
- 29:58Speaker 5: A full four quarters, I'd love Gunnar Stockton against anybody
- 30:04Speaker 5: at home or on the road in a game like this.
- 30:07Speaker 5: He is just a tough-as-nails, grit guy, and he'll keep
- 30:12Speaker 5: Georgia in it. Not that Keyline Russell won't. Keyline is
- 30:18Speaker 5: a sophomore. He played a couple of games last year.
- 30:22Speaker 4: Give me older is better.
- 30:25Speaker 1: No, I would tend to agree with you on that, right?
- 30:27Speaker 1: I mean, you've got an experienced guy in Gunnar Stockton.
- 30:30Speaker 1: You know, it's kind of like the old line versus
- 30:32Speaker 1: the young line. He's been through the fires. He's played
- 30:34Speaker 1: in the SEC championship game, won an SEC title. He's
- 30:37Speaker 1: almost like a rebooted, you know, version of Stetson Bennett,
- 30:43Speaker 1: but maybe even a little better version of Stetson Bennett.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Right.
- 30:47Speaker 5: And Buster Faulkner coached Stetson those couple of years, 21-22
- 30:51Speaker 5: at Georgia, when they won back-to-back national championships.
- 30:55Speaker 4: Gunner doesn't make mistakes. You know, it's a compliment.
- 31:00Speaker 5: Because every quarterback is a game manager. When you get
- 31:03Speaker 5: right down to it, if they're not a good game manager,
- 31:06Speaker 5: I don't care if they have Cam Newton talent or
- 31:09Speaker 5: they have Greg McIlroy talent or Keelan Russell talent. If
- 31:13Speaker 5: you can't manage the game and the people around you,
- 31:16Speaker 5: it's going to get away from you.
- 31:18Speaker 4: And Keelan Russell is a special talent. I mean, there's
- 31:22Speaker 4: no doubt.
- 31:23Speaker 5: And Alabama, I said preseason, if they can't run the
- 31:26Speaker 5: ball better than they did last year, they're a seven
- 31:28Speaker 5: or eight win team. If they can, they can win
- 31:31Speaker 5: every game they play. Their roster is still like the
- 31:35Speaker 5: second or third most talented in the country, and Georgia's
- 31:39Speaker 5: either second or third. So this one right here is
- 31:43Speaker 5: going to be a great football game. I think Alabama's
- 31:48Speaker 5: won 10 of the last 12. But, you know, the
- 31:51Speaker 5: last time they played in the SEC championship game, Georgia
- 31:54Speaker 5: did hold Alabama the negative three yards rushing.
- 31:57Speaker 4: This is a different Alabama team.
- 32:00Speaker 5: With a better quarterback, and it's the first time Kaitlin
- 32:03Speaker 5: DeBoer has been there at Alabama where he's had one
- 32:05Speaker 5: of his hand-picked recruits as the starting quarterback.
- 32:09Speaker 4: And as Chuck Oliver says, that ain't nothing.
- 32:13Speaker 1: You are correct on that. We're busy with Rob Brown.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Make sure to get him at sidelines.live. His show is
- 32:17Speaker 1: on in the morning, 8 to 9. Of course, subscribe
- 32:20Speaker 1: to it on YouTube. We'll let him tell you where
- 32:22Speaker 1: all to find it here in a bit. All right,
- 32:23Speaker 1: so Texas is back at it. They take on Oklahoma
- 32:26Speaker 1: this week. Normally, I'm not a big throw-the-records guy. Some
- 32:29Speaker 1: of these matchups, you can kind of say that. This
- 32:31Speaker 1: is one typically, but you're going to have to have
- 32:34Speaker 1: a John Mateer that can play. It's going to be
- 32:36Speaker 1: interesting to see which version of these teams show up.
- 32:39Speaker 5: I mean, Mateer's got– Oklahoma's got 10 or 11 turnovers.
- 32:44Speaker 4: Mateer is just self-destructing. I mean, his– Yeah. I can't
- 32:49Speaker 4: believe it.
- 32:49Speaker 5: Ben Arbuckle came with him at 29 years of age
- 32:52Speaker 5: from Washington State.
- 32:53Speaker 4: You thought, oh, this is a match made in heaven.
- 32:56Speaker 5: John Mateer– Last year, Jaden Ott came from Cal, big
- 33:00Speaker 5: running back they brought in.
- 33:01Speaker 4: Didn't do anything. So the same thing this year.
- 33:06Speaker 5: But Texas is the most fragile number one team that
- 33:10Speaker 5: I've seen.
- 33:11Speaker 1: In a long.
- 33:13Speaker 5: And if you think that, well, Texas is just going
- 33:18Speaker 5: to run all over at the Red River shootout, Oklahoma,
- 33:23Speaker 5: think again. Oklahoma will have something. to confuse Arch Manning.
- 33:29Speaker 5: Archie and Eli, he's not Peyton, and he damn sure
- 33:33Speaker 5: isn't Archie. Right now, I'd be shocked if he'd be drafted.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Third, fourth round.
- 33:39Speaker 5: I mean, so Brent Venables, look what Tennessee did. Look
- 33:44Speaker 5: what their defense did with first-year coordinator Jim Knowles.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Now, he's been doing it 37 years.
- 33:52Speaker 5: Don't be surprised if Oklahoma doesn't make this A lot
- 33:57Speaker 5: tougher game. I mean, I think it's going to be
- 33:59Speaker 5: easy to pick Texas, but who are the rainmakers? You know, Wingo,
- 34:04Speaker 5: the receiver, Cam Coleman, Cam drop Coleman. All he does
- 34:09Speaker 5: is drop passes. He has never made a significant touchdown
- 34:13Speaker 5: catch against a quality opponent in his two years at
- 34:16Speaker 5: Auburn and his year at Texas so far.
- 34:19Speaker 4: So that's going to be, I think that's.
- 34:21Speaker 5: Going to be a full 60, Just remember, Brent Venables
- 34:25Speaker 5: will dial up defenses and get inside of Arch Manning's head.
- 34:30Speaker 4: Arch is, what, 16-3 as a starter?
- 34:34Speaker 5: But he struggles against elite defenses. And Oklahoma's offense is abysmal,
- 34:40Speaker 5: but their defense is really good.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Kentucky, boy, you got to give it to Will Stein.
- 34:45Speaker 1: And what they've been able to get the most, I mean,
- 34:48Speaker 1: I said today, they've squeezed every bit of water out
- 34:50Speaker 1: of the sponge, right, and done it the right way.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Can they scare the daylights out of LSU Saturday?
- 34:57Speaker 4: Yeah, they can.
- 34:59Speaker 5: LSU's like the only team right now who's in the
- 35:02Speaker 5: top ten in total offense and top ten in total defense.
- 35:05Speaker 5: I think they're second or third in defense. Now, scoring
- 35:11Speaker 5: defense is more important. You know, what do yards mean?
- 35:14Speaker 5: It's what points are you giving up. But right now,
- 35:18Speaker 5: Kentucky has won twice on the road at A & M,
- 35:22Speaker 5: And at South Carolina, this guy Menchie, the quarterback, went
- 35:26Speaker 5: to St. John Paul II up in Hendersonville, Tennessee, outside
- 35:30Speaker 5: of Nashville. It looked like for a while that he
- 35:34Speaker 5: might be the starting quarterback at Notre Dame. He's really good.
- 35:40Speaker 5: Will Stein is a first-year coach. There's a lot of
- 35:44Speaker 5: tape on him now.
- 35:47Speaker 4: LSU goes up there, and they'll win. They'll win that game. Again,
- 35:53Speaker 4: you'll be surprised at how they win it, but they'll
- 35:55Speaker 4: win it.
- 35:56Speaker 1: What do we make of Florida after this past week?
- 36:00Speaker 5: I had them at eight wins before the season started,
- 36:03Speaker 5: and I said if they're seven and one after eight games,
- 36:07Speaker 5: they might win them all. Well, they've still got another
- 36:10Speaker 5: mulligan to give, but John Summerall tried to warn people
- 36:16Speaker 5: that Missouri would be ready to play. Florida's really good.
- 36:19Speaker 5: They've got a talented roster. But Aaron Filo, remember, he
- 36:25Speaker 5: was not a rock star coming out of high school.
- 36:26Speaker 5: He sat on the bench a couple of years at
- 36:28Speaker 5: Georgia Tech behind Haynes King, working with Buster Faulkner. But, again,
- 36:34Speaker 5: he's had those first four games. Oh, my gosh, who
- 36:37Speaker 5: is this guy? Now game five and six and beyond,
- 36:40Speaker 5: there's more tape on him. The better defensive coordinators are
- 36:44Speaker 5: going to get with him. Now they'll beat South Carolina Saturday.
- 36:48Speaker 5: I still think Florida's an eight win. They might win nine.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:51Speaker 5: Friday, if I had a dollar for every talk show
- 36:54Speaker 5: I listened to around the country where teams that were
- 36:57Speaker 5: 4-0 or 5-0 that were coming out of nowhere, they
- 37:01Speaker 5: look like a CFP team, I'd have a lot of dollars.
- 37:05Speaker 5: You got to be careful about that stuff. You know,
- 37:09Speaker 5: the old saying, don't put the cart before the horse.
- 37:12Speaker 5: Everybody's doing it right now, but everybody wants instant gratification
- 37:16Speaker 5: because we're pumping so much money into NIL teams And
- 37:19Speaker 5: all the kids, I don't see kids in tears on
- 37:23Speaker 5: the sidelines after losses anymore. They all reminded me a
- 37:26Speaker 5: lot of the NFL guys. They're out there laughing and,
- 37:29Speaker 5: you know, mucking it up with their buddies after the game,
- 37:31Speaker 5: and they're staring at their mobile banking app to see
- 37:34Speaker 5: how much money they've got. We're starting to look at
- 37:37Speaker 5: these kids as fans with a hell of a lot
- 37:40Speaker 5: of resentment. And that's why I promise you it's coming.
- 37:45Speaker 5: There's going to be an inflection point sooner than you think.
- 37:48Speaker 5: NIL will collapse on its own weight. Used to be
- 37:53Speaker 5: you could get seven or eight points when you sold
- 37:55Speaker 5: a tax-free bond. You're lucky to get a point, point
- 37:58Speaker 5: and a half on a good day now.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Transparency.
- 38:01Speaker 5: People are seeing this for what it is. Used to
- 38:04Speaker 5: go roster to roster. You could go end to end, Jake.
- 38:07Speaker 5: You named every player on the Mississippi State roster or
- 38:09Speaker 5: Ole Miss or Auburn. Now, I mean, it's just like,
- 38:14Speaker 5: who are these guys? They're stopping by, like Chuck says,
- 38:17Speaker 5: for a cup of coffee. You know, when they leave,
- 38:19Speaker 5: you know, Buddy Martin said it one time, I'd love
- 38:22Speaker 5: to say I'm going to miss you, but I never
- 38:24Speaker 5: knew you.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Right. Yeah.
- 38:27Speaker 4: But it is.
- 38:28Speaker 5: It is.
- 38:29Speaker 4: And I love it.
- 38:30Speaker 3: I love the game.
- 38:31Speaker 4: Don't get me wrong.
- 38:32Speaker 5: But I will say this about Mississippi State. It might
- 38:34Speaker 5: be the most southern campus in the Southeastern Conference. It's
- 38:38Speaker 5: all about Mississippi. I bet their enrollment is 60% or
- 38:42Speaker 5: more in-state.
- 38:43Speaker 4: It's a lot like Auburn. They're smart.
- 38:46Speaker 5: All these schools that are 35% in-state now are going
- 38:50Speaker 5: to rue the day that they gave up all of
- 38:54Speaker 5: this for those out-of-state tuitions.
- 38:56Speaker 4: For what? What are you getting for it?
- 38:59Speaker 5: I love the Kamario Taylor story. Just confirm one thing.
- 39:05Speaker 5: They're going to show this video.
- 39:07Speaker 4: I bleed maroon and white.
- 39:10Speaker 5: State can still win eight or nine games, I bet.
- 39:14Speaker 4: They've got a lot of momentum going right now.
- 39:17Speaker 5: I love people like Camario Taylor because I think this
- 39:21Speaker 5: kid loves Mississippi State.
- 39:23Speaker 4: I love the guys that love the laundry.
- 39:26Speaker 5: To borrow a term Ivan Mizell gave me on the
- 39:28Speaker 5: show a couple years ago.
- 39:30Speaker 4: And he also wrote a hell of a book about
- 39:33Speaker 4: Frank Leahy. It's a great read.
- 39:35Speaker 5: But I just– give me more Kamario Taylors. That kid,
- 39:40Speaker 5: that's why we love college football.
- 39:42Speaker 1: No, you're right. Let's wrap it with Ole Miss. Back
- 39:44Speaker 1: in action this week against Vandy. What do you want
- 39:46Speaker 1: to see out of the Rebs?
- 39:48Speaker 4: Man– A full 60, okay?
- 39:50Speaker 5: That win over Louisville ain't looking so good now that
- 39:52Speaker 5: Louisville's two and three. I think Ole Miss has got–
- 39:56Speaker 5: I've got them playing Georgia. I have to stick by
- 39:58Speaker 5: it for the SEC championship. I think they go on
- 40:01Speaker 5: the road and break out. They've got a dozen defensive
- 40:05Speaker 5: linemen that coaches trust. They're good. They're good at matching hands.
- 40:10Speaker 5: You know, they see the offensive linemen with their hands
- 40:13Speaker 5: on their hips. They're good at matching up because they
- 40:15Speaker 5: know it's going to be a pass play. I think
- 40:17Speaker 5: Ole Miss goes up there. and gets a hell of
- 40:19Speaker 5: a win.
- 40:20Speaker 4: This is an Ole Miss team with a lot of talent.
- 40:23Speaker 4: They went on the road.
- 40:25Speaker 5: It always looked scary. There was so much emotional energy
- 40:33Speaker 5: spent against LSU, and they went down there in the swamp,
- 40:37Speaker 5: and here's Florida like a stock breaking out of its
- 40:39Speaker 5: 200-day moving average. It was the wrong place at the
- 40:42Speaker 5: wrong time, but Ole Miss will get the win Saturday
- 40:45Speaker 5: in Nashville. I still got them at 10-2 in the
- 40:47Speaker 5: regular season.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Tell everybody where to get you, Rob. I know you
- 40:50Speaker 1: guys are going to be all over it. Another great
- 40:51Speaker 1: week coming up. Yeah.
- 40:53Speaker 5: Look, man, we'll have you on Friday on the round table.
- 40:55Speaker 5: We're going to have fun. I love talking football with you.
- 40:58Speaker 5: We are Monday through Friday, 8 to 9 a.m.
- 41:00Speaker 4: Central. We're live streaming on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook. We go Instagram, Rumble, Reels, everywhere.
- 41:08Speaker 4: Got a great website, sidelines.live.
- 41:11Speaker 5: We cover the history, the traditions, and the heroes of
- 41:14Speaker 5: the SEC and college football. I can say we cover
- 41:16Speaker 5: college football in the south like kudzu, cotton, and humidity.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Thank you so much, and we'll talk on Friday.
- 41:27Speaker 4: All right, man. Thanks for having me.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Thank you. Rob Brown on your show tonight. And before
- 41:32Speaker 1: we get out of here, I want to get real quickly,
- 41:34Speaker 1: and I'll put these out on social. I'm going to
- 41:36Speaker 1: show you the– let's see, where in the world did
- 41:38Speaker 1: they go? There we go. So, each week I've been
- 41:41Speaker 1: sharing with you on social, and we'll pull them up
- 41:44Speaker 1: right here. This is going to be the eye test
- 41:48Speaker 1: rankings in the SEC. All eyes, no analytics. What the
- 41:51Speaker 1: eyes are seeing. We'll start at the bottom. Obviously, Arkansas,
- 41:55Speaker 1: South Carolina, Vanderbilt, they're not any good. Those teams, Vanderbilt's
- 41:58Speaker 1: regressed back. Oklahoma, Auburn, Texas A & M, Tennessee, and
- 42:03Speaker 1: then Mississippi State. And, you know, when you start getting
- 42:06Speaker 1: into four through ten, there's a lot of flux there.
- 42:09Speaker 1: I mean, Texas still, to me, is the best team
- 42:10Speaker 1: in the SEC. They have not shown it. as much as, say,
- 42:14Speaker 1: Georgia and Alabama. I think it's really close between Texas, Georgia,
- 42:17Speaker 1: and Alabama. Kentucky, yes, I know Kentucky lost to Alabama.
- 42:21Speaker 1: They haven't really– well, they did beat Texas A & M.
- 42:24Speaker 1: After coming off the week where they beat South Carolina
- 42:25Speaker 1: and went for two, they look really good. Yes, Ole
- 42:28Speaker 1: Miss beat LSU. LSU looks like they're playing a little
- 42:30Speaker 1: better right now. Missouri, the way they beat Florida was
- 42:34Speaker 1: just impressive. Florida, Ole Miss, and the Mississippi State. It's
- 42:37Speaker 1: the eye test rankings. that I put out each and
- 42:40Speaker 1: every week. No analytics on this, just straight eyes. And,
- 42:43Speaker 1: of course, this will change week to week. And odds
- 42:46Speaker 1: are the winner of Georgia and Alabama will move to
- 42:48Speaker 1: number one. I want to remind you about our friends
