Speaker 4: I am going to continue to say it until it
1:28
Speaker 4: is that. So, actually you got more snowsqualls on the way.
1:30
Speaker 4: That laughter you hear is from meteorologist Brian Hughes is
1:33
Speaker 4: going to join this moment momentarily also a little bit,
1:36
Speaker 4: just a little bit. We're going to talk to our
1:37
Speaker 4: good friend Taylor Ugh, who is the communications director for
1:40
Speaker 4: the Clay Center in Charleston. We have a I don't
1:43
Speaker 4: know whether she's allowed to say it yet or not,
1:45
Speaker 4: but we have a concert announcement coming, so I want
1:47
Speaker 4: to get her in any kind of trouble. Don't know
1:49
Speaker 4: whether she can say it now or not, but if
1:51
Speaker 4: she can't, she'll tell you when you can say it.
1:53
Speaker 4: How's that? And we'll talk about some of the other
1:55
Speaker 4: things going at the Clay Center. Danny Jones is here
1:57
Speaker 4: and Attorney General JB. Mccusky will join us on this
2:00
Speaker 4: show as well. Plus lots of talk around the state,
2:03
Speaker 4: not just about the weather, but also about this sixty
2:05
Speaker 4: minutes piece that aired about McDowell County last night. I'm
2:08
Speaker 4: going to get into that with Danny coming up a
2:10
Speaker 4: little bit later on. Plus we're definitely going to get
2:11
Speaker 4: into it later today on Metro News Midday. All that,
2:14
Speaker 4: plus your calls and text are always welcome. Big Lea

2:21
Speaker 4: four nine three five five zero zero. Let's wellcome in
2:24
Speaker 4: now the afore mentioned meteorronders Brian Hughes, how you know,
2:27
Speaker 4: my friend, Well, just watching the radar.
2:30
Speaker 2: No, can't see how how things are shaping up right now,
2:32
Speaker 2: and we've got more snow in the way. We're not
2:34
Speaker 2: done yet, but it's not going to be two obtrusive
2:37
Speaker 2: as we go through the rest of the day unless
2:39
Speaker 2: we get a couple of snow squalls.
2:40
Speaker 4: And the snow squalls were kind of the big thing because,
2:43
Speaker 4: like I was saying somebody earlier, my drive in on
2:45
Speaker 4: the Interstate may have been hear me out on. This
2:48
Speaker 4: may have been the worst morning so far as far
2:51
Speaker 4: as interstate driving, right because there's not a lot to plow.
2:54
Speaker 4: But I guess we had just gotten under one of
2:56
Speaker 4: those snow squalls and it was pretty slick, you know,
2:59
Speaker 4: about about seven clock or so, six forty five seven
3:01
Speaker 4: o'clock er so this morning. But then I looked out,
3:04
Speaker 4: just walked out just now and like the street, Virginia
3:07
Speaker 4: Street in front of the station is completely clear now
3:09
Speaker 4: it was not when I came in this morning, correct, Yeah,
3:12
Speaker 4: But that's what we're you know.
3:14
Speaker 2: The good thing is we warmed up so much, you know,
3:16
Speaker 2: on the last in that previous week and such that
3:20
Speaker 2: the road temperature has actually helped keep everything in check.
3:23
Speaker 2: But what we're dealing with, you know, today is going
3:25
Speaker 2: to be for the rest of the day, is going
3:27
Speaker 2: to be the snow squalls that we deal with in
3:28
Speaker 2: the lower elevations jumping the mountains. I mean, they're going gangbusters.
3:30
Speaker 2: They've got eight nine ten inches of snow up across
3:34
Speaker 2: parts to Nicholas County, and you get this snowshoe and
3:37
Speaker 2: the like, and they're looking at foot and then they'll
3:39
Speaker 2: end up somewhere around fourteen inches or so.
3:41
Speaker 5: Back up there.
3:41
Speaker 2: But for us down here in the valley, we are
3:44
Speaker 2: definitely looking at those stone squalls this afternoon. That could again,
3:48
Speaker 2: like you said, get on the interstate, you get one
3:49
Speaker 2: of those pass by and you've got you know, nice
3:52
Speaker 2: little white coating in some spots, and that'll make some
3:54
Speaker 2: for some very slick spots. But the winds are going
3:56
Speaker 2: to be out of the northwest to day, you know,
3:57
Speaker 2: fifteen twenty five miles per hour on some of the cuffs.
4:01
Speaker 2: And then tonight we're down into the low twenties, some
4:04
Speaker 2: upper teens, and subspons wind chills will be in the
4:06
Speaker 2: mid teens as we head of the nighttime hours. Still
4:09
Speaker 2: a few light flurries overnight. I'm concerned about the flash
4:12
Speaker 2: freeze tonight because anything that is wet this afternoon late
4:16
Speaker 2: afternoon will become frozen. So bridges and overpasses will be
4:19
Speaker 2: a problem.
4:20
Speaker 4: When there's little snow going to wrap up, I mean
4:22
Speaker 4: the possibility of the snow squalls. When do you think
4:25
Speaker 4: on average that will wrap up here in the Canalvvalley.
4:28
Speaker 2: In the Canal Valley, the hr r r R our
4:33
Speaker 2: high resolution rapid refresh model that one is incredibly accurate.
4:36
Speaker 2: Has been spawn on with a bunch of things of late,
4:38
Speaker 2: and also the Namtory kilometer. Those are North America model.
4:42
Speaker 2: Those are two high resolution models, and what they look
4:44
Speaker 2: is convection posentially storms going by or snow squalls, and
4:48
Speaker 2: those show that all the way up to eight nine,
4:50
Speaker 2: ten o'clock tonight.
4:51
Speaker 1: We could still have those.
4:52
Speaker 2: By about one or two o'clock in the morning, most
4:54
Speaker 2: of the most of the snow squalls and flurries should
4:56
Speaker 2: be wrapping up. But again I'm concerned about the free
5:00
Speaker 2: You know, black ice tomorrow morning is going to be
5:03
Speaker 2: a problem.
5:03
Speaker 6: In a number of spots.
5:04
Speaker 4: And you called it about the school delays because I
5:06
Speaker 4: know Knall applied them ended up closing today. I think
5:08
Speaker 4: the majority of counties in the state, just almost all,
5:11
Speaker 4: not all, but there were some, I mean just did
5:14
Speaker 4: some sort of a delay or closure.
5:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, we had forty one counties closed today or non
5:20
Speaker 2: non traditional learning learning day. And then some of the
5:23
Speaker 2: Eastern Panhandle which just stayed on delays, and then northern
5:26
Speaker 2: panandle they most of those didn't close, and the majority
5:28
Speaker 2: of them didn't. But I am surprised about the closures today,
5:34
Speaker 2: especially as you get outside of the outside of the
5:36
Speaker 2: Canal valley back to the west, where they've only had
5:38
Speaker 2: an inch to maybe in a spot, or to an
5:41
Speaker 2: inch and a half. They may be out of an
5:43
Speaker 2: abundance of caution for this afternoon with snow squalls coming
5:46
Speaker 2: in and such.
5:47
Speaker 1: So I was surprised.
5:49
Speaker 4: We've still got a ways to go, is what you're saying,
5:51
Speaker 4: and another may maybe twelve hours.
5:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, and the snow squalls are going to still they're
5:55
Speaker 2: going to be limited. But here's the difference between the
5:58
Speaker 2: snow squalls that we've had all this year and today
6:01
Speaker 2: is today, the moisture is coming off of Lake Erie
6:04
Speaker 2: and Lake Huron. So because we have almost a due
6:08
Speaker 2: north wind because of the because of the the northeaster
6:12
Speaker 2: and the blizzard that's happening across the East coast, we're
6:15
Speaker 2: getting a due north wind in here, so that's coming up.
6:17
Speaker 2: So the moisture is coming off of Erie and hur
6:19
Speaker 2: On today.
6:19
Speaker 4: All right, Brian Hughes, I appreciate it. I do one note, Yeah,
6:23
Speaker 4: one note.
6:23
Speaker 2: A Thursday, when we get rain in here across the state,
6:27
Speaker 2: we're going to see three quarters and inch to inch.
6:29
Speaker 6: That's gonna be a problem.
6:30
Speaker 2: With the rivers as we go into the weekend.
6:32
Speaker 4: All right, you have been warned, yes, and you have
6:34
Speaker 4: been warned that winter is over. It is over.
6:38
Speaker 3: This is it.
6:38
Speaker 1: This is the second coming of winter.
6:40
Speaker 2: We'll have another false spring because we're gonna be it's
6:43
Speaker 2: We're gonna be like sixty three on Saturday.
6:45
Speaker 4: Saturday. Looks great.
6:46
Speaker 5: Oh, looks awesome.
6:47
Speaker 4: A great day for the beach party. Yeah, we're going
6:49
Speaker 4: to be out over at the end. Sweets for Marsha University.
6:51
Speaker 5: Marshall's thundering heard, let's go hurd All right, I.
6:53
Speaker 4: Ain't get out of my studio for me REALI is

7:07
Speaker 4: now our good friend Taylor g You, the director of
7:10
Speaker 4: communication for the Clay Center. Good morning, welcome to the show.
7:14
Speaker 7: Good morning.
7:15
Speaker 8: How are you guys doing.
7:16
Speaker 4: I'm doing fine. Thank you for you know, hanging on
7:19
Speaker 4: the line with this there because we had to get
7:20
Speaker 4: a little weather in there and because of the weather.
7:22
Speaker 4: You're at home and you're not in studio with us
7:24
Speaker 4: this morning, like we had thought.
7:27
Speaker 8: Right, I think this is the second time this has happened.
7:30
Speaker 8: But you know what, we roll with the punches.
7:31
Speaker 4: That's exactly right. So another another snow day here in
7:35
Speaker 4: the Kanaw Valley. Anything in particular going on over the
7:38
Speaker 4: Clay Center today.
7:41
Speaker 7: Much today is a Monday, which means that the Clay Center.
7:43
Speaker 9: Is closed, okay, yea.
7:45
Speaker 8: Our boss office is open.
7:46
Speaker 7: So always there to our staff is always there to
7:50
Speaker 7: help individuals get the tickets they need for upcoming shows.
7:54
Speaker 7: All the wonderful activities.
7:55
Speaker 8: Going on to Clay Center, all right.
7:56
Speaker 4: And speaking of which, and I don't know how much
7:58
Speaker 4: you're allowed to say about this, if any thing at all,
8:00
Speaker 4: but you teased a couple of weeks ago, you said
8:03
Speaker 4: that there was going to be a concert announcement about
8:05
Speaker 4: an upcoming show at the Clay Center. If you can't
8:07
Speaker 4: tell us right now, I completely understand, because I know
8:09
Speaker 4: some of our stations have said that it may be
8:12
Speaker 4: like ten o'clock or so this morning, but we do
8:13
Speaker 4: have a concert announcement coming up, like it at ten
8:16
Speaker 4: o'clock or so this.
8:17
Speaker 8: Morning, right, Yeah, yeah, anyone who's on our email list
8:21
Speaker 8: to follow us on social, they'll get the update at ten.
8:24
Speaker 8: But I feel like we you know, it's now day.
8:27
Speaker 7: Everyone deserves a little.
8:29
Speaker 8: Something special, So I think we can. I think we
8:31
Speaker 8: could tell everyone give them a little up.
8:34
Speaker 4: That's totally up to you. That's totally up because I
8:36
Speaker 4: know how these things can go and I don't want
8:38
Speaker 4: to get anybody in trouble. So you can wait till ten,
8:40
Speaker 4: or you could, it's totally up to you.
8:42
Speaker 7: I think I think we're good to go on this one.
8:46
Speaker 7: For those of you who know the amazing multi Grammy
8:50
Speaker 7: Award winning band and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
8:52
Speaker 7: inductee Chicago, they are going to be making their way
8:56
Speaker 7: to Charleston this summer.
8:58
Speaker 4: All right, do we have a date yet?
9:01
Speaker 10: We do?
9:02
Speaker 8: We do.
9:02
Speaker 7: We are bringing them in on a very special day,
9:06
Speaker 7: West Virginia Day. That's June twentieth, seven point thirty. We
9:09
Speaker 7: are going to be celebrating the absolutely wonderful miss of
9:16
Speaker 7: West Virginia with.
9:17
Speaker 8: A spectacular band that we're extremely.
9:22
Speaker 7: Excited to be happening.
9:23
Speaker 4: And this is a band that has been around for
9:25
Speaker 4: a long time. I mean their first hits came of
9:27
Speaker 4: the late nineteen sixties, and then they had a resurgence
9:31
Speaker 4: in the early eighties with a little bit of a
9:33
Speaker 4: different sound. It wasn't as much on the horns and
9:36
Speaker 4: stuff as what it was a little bit more what
9:38
Speaker 4: we call in the radio business adult contemporary sound, a
9:40
Speaker 4: little bit softer sound, songs like You're the Inspiration and
9:44
Speaker 4: Stay the Night and Look Away later in the eighties
9:47
Speaker 4: and songs like that. And then as they've gone back
9:49
Speaker 4: out they've kind of kind of got that horn sound
9:51
Speaker 4: going again with songs like twenty five or sixty four
9:53
Speaker 4: and does anybody know what time it is? So you know,
9:56
Speaker 4: they're a multifaceted band. Taylor, to say the least, they
10:00
Speaker 4: really really are.
10:01
Speaker 7: And one of the things under that they really pride themselves.
10:03
Speaker 8: On is that they have toured every single year for
10:07
Speaker 8: over fifty years.
10:08
Speaker 7: They have never missed a year of touring. So it's
10:12
Speaker 7: something that I know that they really pride themselves on.
10:14
Speaker 7: And they've thought, you know, multiple members of the original
10:17
Speaker 7: band who are still out touring, which you know, for
10:20
Speaker 7: a group that's been touring that long, that and amongst itself,
10:23
Speaker 7: is a fantastic feed.
10:25
Speaker 4: Indeed, it is all right and so listen to all
10:27
Speaker 4: of our stations coming up with ten because we'll be
10:29
Speaker 4: giving you specific information on these things. And as you said,
10:32
Speaker 4: if you're on the Clay Center's email list, you'll be
10:34
Speaker 4: getting information. It will be on your social media, so
10:36
Speaker 4: a lot more information will come at ten o'clock this morning,
10:39
Speaker 4: we invite you to listen to all of our stations
10:41
Speaker 4: from you know, from from Superstar Country to be one
10:44
Speaker 4: hundred to the Mountain. We're all going to have information,
10:46
Speaker 4: maybe some ticket giveaways going on some of the stations too,
10:48
Speaker 4: So we appreciate you letting us know that. What else
10:52
Speaker 4: is you got coming up soon at the clay Center, Taylor,
10:55
Speaker 4: Oh my goodness.
10:56
Speaker 7: Well, we are rearing up for our busy season.
11:00
Speaker 3: You know.
11:00
Speaker 7: One of the big things that I think a lot
11:03
Speaker 7: of people are interested in. We just announced it last week,
11:05
Speaker 7: but we are bringing back jazz and Jumbali to the
11:08
Speaker 7: play Center, which is a really wonderful event. We've partnered
11:14
Speaker 7: with the African American Philanthropian Action, our local organization, Friends
11:20
Speaker 7: of play Center. They are working together to bring this
11:23
Speaker 7: really fantastic event. We're going to have Bob Tom from
11:26
Speaker 7: They're performing. We're bringing in an all female brass band
11:29
Speaker 7: from New York City that did a lot of training
11:32
Speaker 7: and focus on brass work in New Orleans. We're going
11:35
Speaker 7: to have fantastic food catered by ten.
11:37
Speaker 8: Ten, So it's going to be a beautiful evening out.
11:40
Speaker 7: In our sculpture guarding is really going to be something
11:44
Speaker 7: special for those who are able to make their.
11:46
Speaker 3: Way off of that.
11:47
Speaker 4: All right, And eventually we are going to be able
11:49
Speaker 4: to make our way out of things, and life's good.
11:51
Speaker 4: Brian Hughes tells me life is eventually going to returned
11:53
Speaker 4: to normal.
11:54
Speaker 8: Right, I'm really hoping.
11:56
Speaker 7: I'm sticking with you.
11:57
Speaker 8: The it is sunny and.
11:59
Speaker 7: We're I'm outside, I'm speaking into That's what I've.
12:02
Speaker 4: Been saying all the time. Ryan, our producer, blame me
12:04
Speaker 4: for this because I've been saying for a week and
12:06
Speaker 4: a half it was sunny in seventy five. So then
12:07
Speaker 4: he gave me some lecture about something about a monkey's paul.
12:10
Speaker 4: I don't know what that meant, but he sent me
12:12
Speaker 4: some information about it, so I'm gonna have to read
12:14
Speaker 4: up on that later. All right, Taylor, it's always a
12:16
Speaker 4: pleasure to have you on show us have you on
12:17
Speaker 4: here and again a couple of weeks to update us

15:32
Speaker 3: Dave.
15:32
Speaker 14: Your promo game is on point today. Well, thank him
15:36
Speaker 14: some elite promo reading. That was a long one.
15:39
Speaker 4: Well, you know, I got a lot of them to read,
15:42
Speaker 4: and so you develop a certain skill set. I don't
15:46
Speaker 4: do well in my life, do it?
15:48
Speaker 3: That is just as good as it gets.
15:50
Speaker 4: A ABS man. Always be selling. That's the motto. ABS
15:54
Speaker 4: always be selling. So have you had enough of a
15:57
Speaker 4: wintertime yet?
15:59
Speaker 3: Yeah? Pretty much? Okay, good kids are home from school again.
16:01
Speaker 14: Today feels like, actually, I don't think we've had a
16:04
Speaker 14: five day school week, and we went back and looked
16:07
Speaker 14: a full five days since like the middle of November.
16:10
Speaker 14: M hmm, it's February, nearly March.
16:14
Speaker 11: Yeah.
16:15
Speaker 4: Well, Brian, here's here's what Brian Hughes tells me. All right,
16:18
Speaker 4: Brian says that we are going to have uh, you know,
16:20
Speaker 4: this weekend. You know, I was talking about the beach
16:22
Speaker 4: party over at MBC Sweets. I mean it's going to
16:24
Speaker 4: be in the mid sixties. Sunny sky is gonna beautiful
16:26
Speaker 4: weekend h Saturday and Sunday, and then we'll get you know,
16:30
Speaker 4: that's what they call fall spring, and then we get
16:33
Speaker 4: some more. Some of the biggest snows we've had in
16:35
Speaker 4: West Virginia have been in March and April, you know,
16:37
Speaker 4: so so keep that in mind. But I am calling it,
16:41
Speaker 4: mister mccoskey. I'm saying we're done.
16:43
Speaker 3: This is it.
16:43
Speaker 14: This is it right here, this is it, this is
16:45
Speaker 14: I feel great about it being done. I think the
16:47
Speaker 14: groundhog was wrong, yep, as he always is. And I
16:51
Speaker 14: think that we're going to just cruise right in the
16:53
Speaker 14: spring and we're going to have a hell of a year.
16:55
Speaker 4: D you end done? All right?
16:57
Speaker 5: All right, that's right, all right?
16:59
Speaker 4: Talking to you, Attorney General JM. Mccusky. Seriously here for
17:01
Speaker 4: a moment. You made national news last week, Sir, when
17:03
Speaker 4: it was announced that the State of West Virginia was
17:05
Speaker 4: going to sue Apple over child abuse materials stored and
17:09
Speaker 4: shared on the cloud. Talk about it.
17:13
Speaker 3: Yeah, So.
17:15
Speaker 14: We sued Apple because they are an outlier in the
17:18
Speaker 14: marketplace who is not working with law enforcement and helping
17:22
Speaker 14: to find the people who are taking and exploiting children
17:28
Speaker 14: with photographs and helping law enforcement prosecute them. So, just
17:34
Speaker 14: to give all of your listeners sort of an understanding
17:37
Speaker 14: of the scope of this problem. In twenty twenty four,
17:42
Speaker 14: Google and Meta produced to law enforcement somewhere in the
17:47
Speaker 14: neighborhood of thirty five million child sexually explicit material photographs.
17:53
Speaker 3: Right.
17:53
Speaker 14: They used AI to scan the photographs that were located
17:58
Speaker 14: in their cloud, and they help law enforcement take roughly
18:03
Speaker 14: thirty five million of these images offline. In that same year,
18:07
Speaker 14: Apple produced two hundred and seventy eight I think was
18:10
Speaker 14: the number.
18:11
Speaker 4: That's quite a disparity, sir.
18:14
Speaker 14: Correct. And Apple markets itself as being and this is
18:17
Speaker 14: not a bad thing. And like I've said before, you know,
18:19
Speaker 14: my kids use Apple products, I use Apple products. I
18:22
Speaker 14: actually appreciate a lot of the things they do around
18:25
Speaker 14: screen time, et cetera for parents and kids. But they're
18:29
Speaker 14: doing nothing on the other side, right, they are, and
18:32
Speaker 14: they market themselves as being the most secure network. Right,
18:35
Speaker 14: And so that seems like it's kind of a dog
18:37
Speaker 14: whistle if you're somebody who is out there in this
18:41
Speaker 14: disgustingly seedy world of child sexually explicit materials and you
18:46
Speaker 14: either want to take these materials, or you want to
18:48
Speaker 14: own these materials, or you want to distribute these materials.
18:51
Speaker 14: When somebody says we are the most secure, we are
18:54
Speaker 14: the place where you can put things that no one
18:56
Speaker 14: will ever find them, right, and everyone knows that Google
18:59
Speaker 14: and Facebook and dropbox, et cetera are all doing the
19:03
Speaker 14: opposite of that. You know, it starts to be pretty
19:06
Speaker 14: obvious that Apple is saying, hey, this is a great
19:09
Speaker 14: place for you if you have illgal pictures. But to
19:12
Speaker 14: be fair, backed up, hold on one thing.
19:13
Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, one more key fact, go ahead, This one
19:15
Speaker 4: was really important.
19:16
Speaker 3: Yep.
19:17
Speaker 14: So one of Apple's CEOs in twenty twenty three, when
19:21
Speaker 14: presented with the evidence that Facebook and Google had produced
19:26
Speaker 14: his thirty five million images, he said, they suck and
19:30
Speaker 14: I quote Apple is the premiere platform for the distribution
19:35
Speaker 14: of child's sexual explicit material. That is an exact quote
19:39
Speaker 14: from a text message that he sent to his entire
19:41
Speaker 14: executive team.
19:43
Speaker 4: Now can I ask, I mean, I don't do anything
19:45
Speaker 4: to jeopardize this case, but I mean, how did you
19:47
Speaker 4: learn this about that text message?
19:51
Speaker 14: It's actually funny? Oh, it isn't funny. None of this
19:54
Speaker 14: is funny. I apologize, but there was a large class
19:57
Speaker 14: action lawsuit in California where a thousands and thousands and
20:02
Speaker 14: thousands of victims. These are kids who had their images
20:05
Speaker 14: distributed or taken or et cetera on the Apple iCloud right,
20:10
Speaker 14: their parents and them. Then they sued Apple, and so
20:13
Speaker 14: there's a there's actually kind of a litany of discovery
20:16
Speaker 14: from that private cause of action, and Apple was able
20:18
Speaker 14: to sort of, you know, manipulate their way through the
20:21
Speaker 14: legal process there because they weren't dealing with a state.
20:24
Speaker 14: And so this is the first of its kind lawsuit
20:26
Speaker 14: where a state has said to Apple, we need you
20:29
Speaker 14: to meet us halfway here. And as you know, Dave,
20:32
Speaker 14: you know, we live in a place where there's a
20:34
Speaker 14: lot of vulnerable kids, probably per capita more than any
20:36
Speaker 14: other place in the country. We've got a we've got
20:39
Speaker 14: a substance abuse problem, we've got a child welfare problem.
20:41
Speaker 14: And so right here, I believe that that that we
20:45
Speaker 14: have the most duty to protect kids, especially kids who
20:49
Speaker 14: are vulnerable, because we have so many of them, and
20:51
Speaker 14: it's part of my job to make sure that these
20:53
Speaker 14: kids get a chance at a better life.
20:56
Speaker 4: Talked again with an Attorney General JB. Mccusky to Dave
20:58
Speaker 4: Allen Show on five at Line Branch impired by Generations
21:01
Speaker 4: Forward a hurricane. Great deals going on now on their
21:03
Speaker 4: selection of used vehicle shopping compair any used vehicle of
21:06
Speaker 4: Generations for dot com. But if you need service, ask
21:08
Speaker 4: about their works package and their pickup and delivery service.
21:12
Speaker 4: Check them out today. I just off the Hurricane Act
21:13
Speaker 4: of I sixty four to one destination for every Generation
21:16
Speaker 4: Generations forward Seed Dealer for details. What I was going
21:19
Speaker 4: to say a little bit earlier was to be fair.
21:22
Speaker 4: And again I'm not trying to defend Apple in any
21:24
Speaker 4: of this sort of thing. But and you read that
21:26
Speaker 4: text message. Text message was absolutely violent, disgusting. They weren't
21:30
Speaker 4: out there marketing that. Now that it makes it right, jab,
21:33
Speaker 4: don't get me wrong. They weren't out there. They've marketed
21:36
Speaker 4: themselves this, But you're saying that they haven't done all
21:38
Speaker 4: they could in the fact that they do market themselves.
21:42
Speaker 3: I'm actually saying they were basically marketing themselves.
21:44
Speaker 4: Okay, all right, go ahead. Ex found upon that the the.
21:47
Speaker 14: The advertisements still say come bring your child sexually explicit
21:52
Speaker 14: material here, but they do say this is the this
21:56
Speaker 14: is the one place where no one's ever going to
21:58
Speaker 14: find this right, and so you know, when everyone knows
22:03
Speaker 14: that there's one person not doing it and ten people
22:05
Speaker 14: doing it, and your entire marketing strategy is we have
22:08
Speaker 14: end to end encryption. You know, we can make sure
22:10
Speaker 14: that no one from the government ever sees any picture
22:13
Speaker 14: you put in here.
22:14
Speaker 3: What does that say? Right?
22:15
Speaker 4: Yeah? Do you do you expect other states will get
22:18
Speaker 4: involved in this or have they already?
22:20
Speaker 3: Yeah?
22:20
Speaker 14: I am almost certain they will and they have not.
22:24
Speaker 14: But you know, like we've talked about before, West Virginia
22:27
Speaker 14: and our office, we lead a lot. And you know,
22:30
Speaker 14: you don't have to be California or New York or
22:32
Speaker 14: Texas to be a leader. And you know, we're proud
22:35
Speaker 14: to just take the first step so frequently on these
22:38
Speaker 14: wildly important issues. And we will see in the next
22:43
Speaker 14: few weeks or a couple of months how many other
22:45
Speaker 14: states follow suit. But I'm I'm pretty sure they will.
22:48
Speaker 4: What else has your office been up to?
22:50
Speaker 3: What else?
22:50
Speaker 4: Who has been taking up your time here recently?
22:53
Speaker 8: Oh?
22:53
Speaker 14: Man, we've been so we have a lot of our
22:56
Speaker 14: briefing in those super fun cases that we've talked about before,
22:59
Speaker 14: where New York and Vermont and Blue States have fined
23:02
Speaker 14: West Virginia's energy producers upwards of seventy five billion dollars,
23:07
Speaker 14: where West Virginia is again leading at twenty six state
23:10
Speaker 14: coalition to find those laws on constitutionals. So we'll be
23:13
Speaker 14: in New York and Vermont in the next couple of months,
23:16
Speaker 14: and we have just you know, just the day to
23:20
Speaker 14: day operation of our offices is really wild. I mean,
23:23
Speaker 14: the Supreme Court is starting to get sort of back up,
23:26
Speaker 14: and Adam and our office spends a lot of time
23:29
Speaker 14: working with our Great County prosecutors in abuse and neglect
23:32
Speaker 14: cases and all kinds of other appeals up at the
23:35
Speaker 14: US or at the state Supreme Court. We've got several
23:39
Speaker 14: appeals pending at the US Supreme Court. We would anticipate
23:42
Speaker 14: probably being up there once or twice more in the
23:45
Speaker 14: next year and a half or so. And you know,
23:48
Speaker 14: it's just it's such an honor to have this job,
23:51
Speaker 14: and there's so many amazing things that we get to do,
23:54
Speaker 14: and I have so much. I have such a phenomenal
23:56
Speaker 14: office that you know, every day is a joy to
23:58
Speaker 14: go to work. Is why I wish my kids were
24:00
Speaker 14: at school more often when you get there.
24:02
Speaker 4: More we're over the I guess now over the halfway
24:06
Speaker 4: point of the legislature, Attorney General, each individual office at
24:10
Speaker 4: the Capitol, you know, the Constitutional officer, your office, Secretary,
24:12
Speaker 4: State treasurer, agg on down the line. Each has their
24:15
Speaker 4: own respective legislative priorities. How close and I have you
24:19
Speaker 4: been keeping on the session? And what has been your
24:21
Speaker 4: office's priorities the session?
24:22
Speaker 3: Yeah?
24:23
Speaker 14: So you know, I used to be a legislator and
24:26
Speaker 14: when I was up there, I always appreciated it when
24:30
Speaker 14: the constitutional officers would allow us to do our work.
24:35
Speaker 14: And so you know, I've had some conversation with some legislators,
24:38
Speaker 14: but we don't have a big agenda.
24:41
Speaker 3: My office has all the power we need. You know.
24:44
Speaker 14: I've asked them for a little bit of money to
24:45
Speaker 14: hire a few more lawyers, but that's really it. And
24:49
Speaker 14: you know, our office ends up defending a lot of
24:54
Speaker 14: the stuff that the legislature does, and so I try
24:57
Speaker 14: to let them do their work without me getting involved
25:00
Speaker 14: in it too much, and really respecting that this sixty
25:03
Speaker 14: days is about them and if they need something for me,
25:06
Speaker 14: they ask, and when they ask, I answered the question.
25:09
Speaker 1: But I.
25:10
Speaker 14: Like to let them do their thing during the session,
25:12
Speaker 14: and then at the end of it we work on
25:17
Speaker 14: the piece of the legislation that might get challenged and
25:19
Speaker 14: how I can help them make sure that they stay law,
25:21
Speaker 14: which is exactly what happened in the Saved Women's Sports case,
25:24
Speaker 14: which you know we talked about a lot last few months.
25:27
Speaker 4: Before we let you go. I want to go back
25:28
Speaker 4: to this Apple story for a moment. Do you and
25:31
Speaker 4: you talked about the work that the Meta and some
25:35
Speaker 4: of these other carries have done. Do you see a
25:39
Speaker 4: problem with any other services? I mean, you know there's
25:41
Speaker 4: so many out there, Rumble, Telegram, Amazon, web service, I mean,
25:46
Speaker 4: just so many out there. Do you say this as
25:48
Speaker 4: being a problem toward any others or is this primarily
25:50
Speaker 4: an Apple issue in your opinion?
25:52
Speaker 14: So there will be other defendants eventually. Apple is just
25:57
Speaker 14: so ubiquitously big, Yeah, and so the scope of the
26:01
Speaker 14: problem is so much bigger with Apple. In an environment
26:04
Speaker 14: where you have somewhat limited resources, somewhat limited time, you
26:08
Speaker 14: really need to take the biggest bites of the Apple
26:10
Speaker 14: that you can at first and try to help as
26:13
Speaker 14: many people as quickly as possible, and then you can
26:16
Speaker 14: start to work on some of the smaller problems when
26:18
Speaker 14: you get done.
26:19
Speaker 4: Tourney, General J. M. McCuskey, always a pleasure to have
26:21
Speaker 4: you on the show, and we will talk to this.
26:24
Speaker 4: I would say, you know, try to enjoy the snow,
26:26
Speaker 4: but this is just a nuisance snow. I mean, it's
26:28
Speaker 4: basically useless snow for snowmen.
26:30
Speaker 14: It's not enough snow for sledding. It's really not enough
26:33
Speaker 14: snow to cover the roads. Yeah, but it is decidedly.
26:36
Speaker 3: Enough snow to keep me at home and make sure
26:38
Speaker 3: my kids don't burn down my house. There you go.
26:40
Speaker 4: That's always a good thing. All right. We'll talking in soon.
26:42
Speaker 4: My friend, thanks a lot, Dave, thank you, thanks a lot.

30:07
Speaker 4: Pizza dot Com texts, When is JB going to sue
30:09
Speaker 4: the Department of Justice to release the unredacted Epstein files
30:13
Speaker 4: in their entirety and disavout any support for Trump? Come on, JB,
30:17
Speaker 4: be consistent. All I'm thinking about the segment, JB is
30:20
Speaker 4: where's this energy with the Epstein files?
30:22
Speaker 3: JB?
30:23
Speaker 4: Uh textis what does hold on? One second? What does
30:29
Speaker 4: our ag have to say about Trump's name being the
30:31
Speaker 4: Epstein files tens of thousands of times? Why does he
30:33
Speaker 4: still support the president? Danny Jones is here, that's the
30:36
Speaker 4: voice you heard.
30:37
Speaker 5: Do they really want JB. Mccusky to get involved in
30:40
Speaker 5: the Epstein files?
30:42
Speaker 3: Well?
30:42
Speaker 4: I think here is what I'm thinking. This is what
30:45
Speaker 4: I'm trying to get in the head of people here.
30:47
Speaker 4: I'm thinking, because you know, JB talked about them. I'm sorry,
30:49
Speaker 4: Attorney General JB. McCuskey talked about this suit he's filed
30:52
Speaker 4: against Apple because Apples has in some cases text messages
30:58
Speaker 4: have been turned over about their ability to hide things
31:02
Speaker 4: in the cloud like child pornography and things like that.
31:06
Speaker 4: And so I guess what the textures are trying to
31:08
Speaker 4: say is is if he's going to go after a
31:10
Speaker 4: national or an international company like that, that maybe he
31:14
Speaker 4: should be as concerned about President.
31:17
Speaker 5: Trump and maybe he has enough on plate.
31:20
Speaker 3: Yeah.
31:21
Speaker 4: Well, I mean it would be suicide in West Virginia
31:25
Speaker 4: for any Republican to speak out against the general. Yeah,
31:29
Speaker 4: against Donald Trump. I mean, I'm just saying from a
31:31
Speaker 4: political standpoint. You can say what's right or wrong or whatever,
31:33
Speaker 4: but I'm saying from a political standpoint, it would be
31:36
Speaker 4: you're burning the Midnight oil Man because you were in
31:38
Speaker 4: California yesterday. You text me yesterday You're in California, And
31:41
Speaker 4: here you are in Charleston looking outside this morning. Don't
31:44
Speaker 4: you wish you were back in California?
31:45
Speaker 5: Oh yeah, Oh wow. When I got in last night,
31:48
Speaker 5: it was about eleven o'clock and it was blowing snow
31:52
Speaker 5: up the airport. Yeah, and I thought I came back
31:55
Speaker 5: to you.
31:56
Speaker 4: So I'm gonna say, you step off that plane and go.
31:58
Speaker 4: You know, I screw this back on the plane again.
32:00
Speaker 4: I'm going back to California.
32:02
Speaker 5: It was the weather out there, as it's always wonderful, Sonny.
32:05
Speaker 4: In seventy five, I've said every morning at the top
32:08
Speaker 4: of the show until it is one day it will
32:09
Speaker 4: be Sonny in seventy five, but Brian Hughes tells me
32:12
Speaker 4: not today because we got more snow on the way.
32:14
Speaker 4: These snow squalls are going to continue to roll through
32:16
Speaker 4: throughout the day today. So I want to start with
32:19
Speaker 4: the story this morning. I'm gonna get your opinion's lead
32:21
Speaker 4: story this morning wv Metronews dot com. Judge Joseph Goodwin,
32:26
Speaker 4: US District Judge of the Southern District wrote an order
32:29
Speaker 4: that basically calls out ice. Now, let me give you
32:31
Speaker 4: the background here in case she Hamrick read the story.
32:33
Speaker 4: The case involves a twenty one year old guy from
32:36
Speaker 4: El Salvador. He entered the country as an unaccompanied miner
32:41
Speaker 4: and was placed in the care of Department of Health
32:43
Speaker 4: and Human Services through its Office of Refugee Settlement. He
32:48
Speaker 4: has a pending asylum application and is legal to work
32:53
Speaker 4: in the US. Has a valid driver's license. He was
32:56
Speaker 4: stopped in Western Dean last month while driving. He was
32:59
Speaker 4: stopped apparently they said he had a plastic cover on
33:02
Speaker 4: his license plate. Basically it was an equipment issue, not
33:05
Speaker 4: like a traffic but like he wasn't speeding or anything
33:07
Speaker 4: like that. Was not in a traffic violation. The guy
33:09
Speaker 4: was ordered out of the car by mask men handcuffed. Now,
33:13
Speaker 4: Judge Goodwin says the guy's constitutional rights were violated, and
33:18
Speaker 4: you can read the entire story on the website. Bottom
33:21
Speaker 4: line is, again, according to Judge good One, this guy's
33:24
Speaker 4: constitutional rights were violated. I agree, And your thoughts on
33:29
Speaker 4: the whole thing, I agree.
33:32
Speaker 5: What's this phobia with all these immigrants. It's there's clusters
33:37
Speaker 5: of him and places that are causing trouble, like up
33:41
Speaker 5: in Minnesota with Smalli's but is this a minor?
33:46
Speaker 1: No, he was.
33:47
Speaker 4: He came here as a miner. He's an adult. I
33:50
Speaker 4: was twenty one. He came here as a miner un
33:53
Speaker 4: a company, which probably means he came in with what
33:56
Speaker 4: he's supposed to do with a large and well he
33:58
Speaker 4: has about the government. US government him a valid driver's license,
34:02
Speaker 4: gave him a work permit, and he got pulled over
34:05
Speaker 4: by ice. Well, I don't, I don't that, I don't know.
34:09
Speaker 4: I mean, but but he was here, he was here
34:12
Speaker 4: as a documented worker, he had the work. I mean,
34:14
Speaker 4: I'm assuming yes, I'd hate to assume things. I'm assuming yes,
34:17
Speaker 4: he had a he had a right to be here.
34:20
Speaker 4: As I said, the government of the US gave him
34:21
Speaker 4: a valid driver's license, He had a work permit, you know,
34:24
Speaker 4: to be here. And he was pulled over. Not by
34:28
Speaker 4: deputies or not by the state police. He was pulled
34:30
Speaker 4: over by ice, you know, which leads me to ask
34:36
Speaker 4: the question, well, if he had this problem with his
34:40
Speaker 4: license plate, as they said, wouldn't that be more along
34:43
Speaker 4: the purview of the of the sheriff's department, city police
34:46
Speaker 4: wherever it happened to pull him over. It wasn't a
34:48
Speaker 4: traffic stop. It was an equipment issue, Judge Goodwin, and
34:51
Speaker 4: there's Brad links it in his story wv Metronews dot com.
34:54
Speaker 4: You can read the entire legal leads in their Danny
34:57
Speaker 4: but basically says this was unconstitutional.
35:00
Speaker 5: Where's the guy? Now?
35:01
Speaker 3: Do we know? I did?
35:03
Speaker 4: I don't know.
35:04
Speaker 5: I'd have to read the entire it's a long story.
35:06
Speaker 5: It's a long but he was legally here, right and
35:11
Speaker 5: he came here as a minor. And you know that
35:17
Speaker 5: advertisement that Christy Noan did and she said go back
35:21
Speaker 5: to Mexico and we'll put you in line for to
35:24
Speaker 5: get in here. Well, see me, I believe in that.
35:29
Speaker 5: I believe in immigration, and especially Mexico because out west,
35:38
Speaker 5: you know, they don't gather at home depot anymore like
35:41
Speaker 5: they used to. And you wait the price of the
35:44
Speaker 5: lettuce when it comes to not having these people to
35:51
Speaker 5: pick the lettuce.
35:52
Speaker 4: It's just it's ridiculous for those who don't know the
35:54
Speaker 4: home depot reference. And I saw this for the first
35:57
Speaker 4: time a couple of years ago in Greensboro, North Carolina. Uh,
36:00
Speaker 4: my brother in law made a trip to and I
36:02
Speaker 4: went out to a home depot and there were groups
36:05
Speaker 4: of I mean, I'm presuming immigrants that were just standing there.
36:09
Speaker 4: And I asked my brother in law, I said, what
36:11
Speaker 4: what's the deal here? And he said they they basically
36:13
Speaker 4: they show up at your low's home depot or whatever,
36:16
Speaker 4: and a guy will come up and say you you
36:20
Speaker 4: you not you kind of a thing, getting the truck
36:22
Speaker 4: kind of a thing, sure, and uh and take them
36:24
Speaker 4: out to work and then and then bring them back.
36:26
Speaker 4: That's that's what Deven Kese you're wondering. That's what Danny's
36:29
Speaker 4: referring to.
36:29
Speaker 16: Now.
36:29
Speaker 5: George w said that they're doing work that we don't
36:32
Speaker 5: want to do. That's exactly what's going on here, right.
36:36
Speaker 5: I'm I just my views on that are just totally
36:40
Speaker 5: out of.
36:40
Speaker 4: Are your views on that because you spend time in
36:42
Speaker 4: California or were you your views like it? Would your
36:45
Speaker 4: views be like that? Because I mean, let's I mean,
36:47
Speaker 4: Danny here, you and I agree on a whole lot politically.
36:50
Speaker 5: Are they Are they a thread here?
36:51
Speaker 4: And that's I mean apparently if you know, apparently they're
36:56
Speaker 4: if you're illegally making Kso, yes, that's Caso, the chief
37:00
Speaker 4: New Mexican restaurants.
37:03
Speaker 3: I know.
37:03
Speaker 5: They went to Miguel's down there in Nitro. Yeah, they
37:07
Speaker 5: were on the roof. That's a roof I put on
37:11
Speaker 5: that building, by the way, on the roof of that building.
37:16
Speaker 5: And I called mcguil to see if he needed me,
37:21
Speaker 5: you know, to come down speak for him or anything.
37:23
Speaker 5: And he said no, that I had to go back
37:26
Speaker 5: to work. Yeah, yeah, you know, he's in the sixties
37:29
Speaker 5: now he has so he has start cooking again.
37:33
Speaker 4: But I think here and the majority of the the
37:40
Speaker 4: majority of people have said in America, regardless of political
37:45
Speaker 4: it's not a great number, but it is a majority,
37:47
Speaker 4: regardless of political persuasion, regardless of your party, the majority
37:51
Speaker 4: of people in America do not like this administration's stance
37:55
Speaker 4: on immigration. I mean, that's Republican, Democrat, rich, poor, red state,
37:58
Speaker 4: blue state. Well, it's over sixty percent according to the
38:02
Speaker 4: latest poll that they don't agree with the way that
38:05
Speaker 4: the Trump administration is had. They also didn't agree with
38:07
Speaker 4: the way that Biden opened up the border.
38:09
Speaker 5: So they that was ridiculous, absolutely, and that's why we
38:14
Speaker 5: we have what we have now with the flood of immigrants.
38:18
Speaker 5: And they weren't they weren't just coming from Mexico. They
38:21
Speaker 5: were coming from Red China, and they were coming from Iran.
38:26
Speaker 5: I mean, they were coming from everywhere.
38:27
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, so to be consistent, this is a
38:31
Speaker 4: greater number of people had an issue with the way
38:34
Speaker 4: Biden handled the border than they do with the way
38:36
Speaker 4: that Trump is.
38:36
Speaker 5: Handled with Trump I believe gets an a plus on
38:40
Speaker 5: handling the border.
38:41
Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm a lot of people agree with that.
38:44
Speaker 3: We got a call.
38:44
Speaker 4: Let's go to don You're on with Danny Jones.
38:46
Speaker 9: Go ahead, Hey, how are you all today?
38:50
Speaker 4: Don't find sir?
38:51
Speaker 3: How are you? Yeah?
38:52
Speaker 9: Pretty good? Hey, Danny, you're conflating illegal immigrants with immigrants.
38:55
Speaker 9: You said you don't see what all the problem is
38:57
Speaker 9: with the immigrants now other people like it or not.
39:01
Speaker 9: The illegal immigrants skew our national elections. And it's not
39:07
Speaker 9: through voting, it's through census. Now, if you want to say, hey,
39:10
Speaker 9: you've got to be a citizen before you're counted in
39:12
Speaker 9: the census, then everything's fine. Of course, the blue areas,
39:16
Speaker 9: blue states will go broke supporting their illegal immigrants without
39:19
Speaker 9: getting federal tax dollars. That wouldn't they That includes your
39:22
Speaker 9: precious California.
39:26
Speaker 5: Coming from a state that gets a disproportionate amount of money, yes,
39:32
Speaker 5: from the federal government, and that's not due to illegal Now,
39:36
Speaker 5: don you asked me a question. You and I and
39:42
Speaker 5: Dave come from a state that gets a disproportionate amount
39:45
Speaker 5: of money federal money, more per capita than California or
39:50
Speaker 5: any of these other states. And so i'm it just
39:58
Speaker 5: doesn't worry me that just and bother me. I understand
40:01
Speaker 5: it's not perfect and nothing is.
40:03
Speaker 9: But uh, once again, it skews our national elections. Michigan
40:10
Speaker 9: wouldn't have the number of people in the House of
40:13
Speaker 9: Representatives they would California wouldn't if it weren't for the
40:16
Speaker 9: large population of illegal immigrants.
40:19
Speaker 5: Now surely you know that, and your answer is what.
40:25
Speaker 9: Just stop counting them in the census and we'll see.
40:29
Speaker 9: We'll see how quickly they start getting deported, the illegal ones.
40:36
Speaker 5: They answered, the immigration problem?
40:38
Speaker 3: Is this.
40:40
Speaker 9: Talking about immigration? We're talking about illegal immigrants.
40:43
Speaker 5: And I'm talking about that too. There was a bill
40:47
Speaker 5: in two thousand and six by George W.
40:49
Speaker 3: Bush.
40:50
Speaker 5: I talked to Nick deverray all about this the other
40:52
Speaker 5: day because he remembered it to take all the immigrants
41:00
Speaker 5: legal immigrants and let them have green cards and that
41:07
Speaker 5: registers them. And if you when you register them, then
41:11
Speaker 5: you can do a background on them, and if they
41:14
Speaker 5: got a criminal record, then you deport them. But if
41:17
Speaker 5: they don't have a criminal record and they're here, even
41:20
Speaker 5: if it's illegal, give my green curtain. Let I'm going
41:22
Speaker 5: to work.
41:24
Speaker 3: What was it that?
41:25
Speaker 9: Also other stipulations that the border would be locked down, Well,
41:29
Speaker 9: I think I think the same thing happened under the
41:31
Speaker 9: reagular administration. He agreed to that if the border was secure,
41:36
Speaker 9: and the border never got secured.
41:38
Speaker 5: Well, the borders secure now, and I just gave your
41:40
Speaker 5: president an A plus.
41:44
Speaker 3: Hold on, hold on now.
41:46
Speaker 9: I've never voted for Trump, not voted for G. W.
41:49
Speaker 3: Brush.
41:51
Speaker 9: So if you can't. Don't hang me either, one of
41:53
Speaker 9: them on me?
41:56
Speaker 3: Who can?
41:56
Speaker 9: I ask you?
41:58
Speaker 4: You don't have to tell me. But if you didn't
42:00
Speaker 4: vote for Trump, who did you? And if you don't
42:01
Speaker 4: want to tell me, that's fine.
42:03
Speaker 9: I didn't vote, okay, all right.
42:05
Speaker 5: I voted for the the last three the last three
42:10
Speaker 5: presidential elections, and I voted for the libertarian candidate. And
42:16
Speaker 5: I was on a podcast and we were talking about
42:19
Speaker 5: the issues of gay rights and everything, and I said,
42:23
Speaker 5: I voted for the libertarian candidate in twenty twenty four
42:27
Speaker 5: and I didn't realize he was gay.
42:30
Speaker 4: I mean, so doing what didn't make a difference to me.
42:33
Speaker 5: It doesn't now I'm a city guy.
42:37
Speaker 4: Stop that again, DONALDO. What I'm gonna do. What we
42:40
Speaker 4: gotta go, but I'm gonna give you the last thirty seconds.
42:42
Speaker 4: Go ahead.
42:43
Speaker 9: He's not my president. He is our president. And if
42:47
Speaker 9: you don't like it, Danny, you know where you can go.
42:50
Speaker 5: All right, don all.
42:51
Speaker 4: Right, don We appreciate your phone call. Don Thanks for
42:54
Speaker 4: the call, Thank you, don O. MG Trump Trump Trump
42:58
Speaker 4: Once again, tds on staate heeroids. These people still cannot
43:01
Speaker 4: mentally and psychologically get over the fact that the majority
43:04
Speaker 4: elected Trump again, seek professional help people.
43:07
Speaker 5: No, you're the people you're going to be seeking. You
43:10
Speaker 5: Trump backers who are going to be seeking psychological help
43:15
Speaker 5: after the twenty twenty sixth elections because they're going to
43:19
Speaker 5: take over the House. I mean Trump will be frozen
43:22
Speaker 5: solid and he may they may take the Senate if
43:25
Speaker 5: they take the Senate. You know, at the TSA in
43:30
Speaker 5: the airport coming through Orange County, I paid the money
43:35
Speaker 5: and I can go through the fast line. Not now,
43:40
Speaker 5: not happening, and Congressional Congressman who usually get an escort

46:30
Speaker 4: Charleston Dirty Birds. It's winter time now, but we're thinking
46:32
Speaker 4: baseball and go mark Ballpark and go ahead and get
46:34
Speaker 4: your season tickets merchandise More Dirty Birds Baseball dot Com.
46:37
Speaker 4: Danny jonesy is here. Let's go to the phones. Let's
46:39
Speaker 4: talk to Joe. You're on with Danny Jones.
46:41
Speaker 3: Go ahead, yes, guys, I'll make it real quick, sir,
46:45
Speaker 3: I can yeah, And Danny glad to hear your voice
46:47
Speaker 3: on here, buddy, Thank you, Joe. West Virginia resident Charles scenario.
46:53
Speaker 3: Residents don't know how much I want to be affected.
46:57
Speaker 3: Let us picking and all this stuff and illegals. Most
47:00
Speaker 3: produced in the US is produced mechanically. But let's talk
47:04
Speaker 3: about something effects West Virginia. Everybody relate to this. Hire
47:08
Speaker 3: bills going up and up, up, electric bills going up
47:10
Speaker 3: and up and up. It ties into illegal immigration. And
47:15
Speaker 3: I'm all for legal immigration, don't get me wrong, but
47:18
Speaker 3: I can tell you firsthand what's going on. They say
47:20
Speaker 3: they want they're doing jobs that Americans won't do. I
47:24
Speaker 3: disagree with that wholeheartedly. All right call because the pier
47:29
Speaker 3: company put in a four hundred and forty million dollars
47:33
Speaker 3: five year surcharge for clearing right aways. It is all documented,
47:39
Speaker 3: and I talk firsthand some of the guys that were
47:41
Speaker 3: doing they do it on prevailing wage. One of the
47:44
Speaker 3: couple of companies. It's all union labor. You know, twenty
47:47
Speaker 3: five twenty four dollars an hour they did that that
47:52
Speaker 3: we paid for that twenty four dollars an hour work
47:55
Speaker 3: Aspen come in, one the largest clear cutting company treecreaming
47:59
Speaker 3: companies around come in and contracted that work. Brought in hundreds,
48:03
Speaker 3: if not thousands, of illegal immigrants just been four or
48:06
Speaker 3: five years ago, illegal immigrants on a four year contract.
48:09
Speaker 3: They were all over Charleston area, West Virginia cutting right aways.
48:14
Speaker 3: Those guys were illegal in their goods. They were getting
48:17
Speaker 3: paid seven and eight dollars an hour.
48:19
Speaker 4: Can I ask you just real quick. I don't want
48:20
Speaker 4: to direct you, but can I ask you? How do
48:21
Speaker 4: you know they were illegal immigrants? So there's a reason
48:23
Speaker 4: I'm asking, But go ahead.
48:25
Speaker 3: One I stopped and talked to them.
48:27
Speaker 4: Okay, that's fair enough, and yeah.
48:30
Speaker 3: Because they were in the areas where I was working,
48:32
Speaker 3: and they told me there was only one of them
48:34
Speaker 3: to speak English, and they're from Guatemala and Honduras, different companies.
48:38
Speaker 3: And I don't fault those guys a bit. If there's
48:40
Speaker 3: one hundred dollars laying on the ground and well, I
48:42
Speaker 3: don't see if they drop it, we'll want to pick
48:44
Speaker 3: it up. Yep. And they're trying to better themselves. And
48:46
Speaker 3: I don't fault that one bit. But the problem is
48:49
Speaker 3: there was a big ninety million dollar lawsuit award against
48:53
Speaker 3: asking for to the Department of Waiver Federal for doing
48:57
Speaker 3: this work with the illegals and not doing it correct
49:00
Speaker 3: and they had all these illegals working on it's all documented.
49:03
Speaker 3: The problem is this, we always say they're doing jobs
49:07
Speaker 3: as Americans won't work, don't do And I've talked to that.
49:10
Speaker 3: I know personally people that work for Ashmen that were
49:12
Speaker 3: on unemployment, put out of work and laid off. When
49:15
Speaker 3: they brought these illegals in here under the table, pay
49:19
Speaker 3: them cash. They were doing it a lot of Joe.
49:24
Speaker 5: Let me ask you a question, how does ask them
49:26
Speaker 5: surface what kind of money along during operations that they
49:31
Speaker 5: have going on that they can surface cash to pay
49:35
Speaker 5: these people in cash.
49:37
Speaker 4: And let's keep in mind that this is a company.
49:39
Speaker 4: We're talking about a private company, So let's let's don't.
49:41
Speaker 9: Get us out.
49:42
Speaker 3: It's one of the largest.
49:43
Speaker 4: But I'm saying let's don't get us sued here. Okay,
49:46
Speaker 4: let's keep that in mind.
49:47
Speaker 3: Well, there was a federal lawsuit from the Federal Department
49:51
Speaker 3: of Labor. Look it up, ask them to find ninety
49:54
Speaker 3: billion dollars. Okay, they were, they were fined for it.
49:57
Speaker 3: It's all documented. So that the premise that we got
50:00
Speaker 3: people coming in here, and I mean, if you want
50:03
Speaker 3: a cheap, cheap roof, there's all kinds of them all
50:06
Speaker 3: over West Virginia that are working for cash. They're not
50:10
Speaker 3: paying wage bonds, and they're not paying any the school systems,
50:13
Speaker 3: they're not paying taxes. And I'm all for illegal immigrations,
50:17
Speaker 3: but what happens is you bring in all these illegals.
50:20
Speaker 3: They're not vetted, they're not documented, so they work for cash,
50:23
Speaker 3: and they really rob for me and you. They make
50:26
Speaker 3: our power bills go up, they do all this stuff.
50:29
Speaker 3: And big companies are profiting off this. Okay, corporations, all right, Joe,
50:33
Speaker 3: we got to leave it there. I appreciate your phone call.
50:35
Speaker 4: Thanks lot. I will say I will say this though,
50:38
Speaker 4: that I got to and I brought up a good
50:40
Speaker 4: friend of mine who has a has a company here
50:43
Speaker 4: in the Canal Valley that does employ a lot of
50:45
Speaker 4: folks from their primarily Mexico. They're not West Virginia, they're
50:49
Speaker 4: not US citizens. However, they're also not here illegal, Ureen card.
50:54
Speaker 4: They have work permits and they go back home during
50:57
Speaker 4: the winter and come back. Then he hires them because
51:00
Speaker 4: he can't get Americans to do the work. I'm not
51:01
Speaker 4: discounting what that last called.
51:03
Speaker 5: You're saying, still let us fields in California with the
51:06
Speaker 5: Mexicans doing the work. I think what Joe and I
51:10
Speaker 5: are talking about maybe two different things.
51:12
Speaker 3: But I.
51:15
Speaker 5: I just think it ought to be if you have
51:18
Speaker 5: a guy that wants to work and he's in this country,
51:20
Speaker 5: and you can do a background on him, get him
51:22
Speaker 5: a green cards.
51:23
Speaker 4: Texays Okay, that's really starting to get old with trying
51:26
Speaker 4: to justify letting all these people stay here by repeatedly spewing, well,
51:29
Speaker 4: do you know how much this is going to cost?
51:30
Speaker 4: You know how much it's going to cost. Let's all
51:32
Speaker 4: just ignore the constitution and ignore the rule of law.
51:34
Speaker 4: Look at parts of Michigan, Minnesota, and Texas Islamic communities
51:37
Speaker 4: have taken over. That is the problem, says a Texture,
51:40
Speaker 4: And you would say, what, Dan, We're talking about two
51:43
Speaker 4: different things, all right, Dave and Danny. President Trump is
51:46
Speaker 4: keeping his promise to close the border and deport the
51:48
Speaker 4: illegal ones, especially the criminal illegal's best president I've ever seen,
51:51
Speaker 4: says a texture. Okay, but you said you agree with
51:55
Speaker 4: Trump on this year plus A PLUSUS, but not necessarily
51:59
Speaker 4: the ice part of it.
52:00
Speaker 5: All right, No, I'm with Judge Goodwin.
52:02
Speaker 9: All right.
52:03
Speaker 4: Well, we didn't even get into talking about term limits
52:05
Speaker 4: or for the city of Charleston. I wanted to get
52:07
Speaker 4: into that also. I'm also also wanted to talk a
52:11
Speaker 4: little bit about Hoppy's commentary. He's going to be on
52:14
Speaker 4: the show later today. He's got issues with the president.
52:17
Speaker 4: Imagine that about what was said Friday after the Supreme
52:20
Speaker 4: Court decision on tariff. So we'll get into that on
52:22
Speaker 4: Metro News Midday. DJ Menows and Dave Wilson coming on
52:25
Speaker 4: the Metro News talk line. I'll be back flying the
52:27
Speaker 4: ship solo today on midday till then, have fun and
52:30
Speaker 4: love SOMEBODYSAM.
52:49
Speaker 1: Ninety six point five stick one O four point five
52:51

52:56
Speaker 4: We're proud to live here too.
