- 0:03[SPEAKER_02]: Hello, welcome to the MLQV podcast.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Conor and Albert Brear is here and still alive because he didn't jinx Notre Dame this weekend.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I texted him when it was getting a little bit dicey and Albert if he didn't catch it.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: It was super dicey.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: It was super.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: I was actually our seats were like at the 10-yard line in the end zone where it looked like B.C.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: was gonna go in and had a chance to tie it if the score was 18 to 10, right?
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: And then Notre Dame picks him off and I think Jeremiah loved ripped off like a 94 yard touchdown on on the next play and we were on island E3 like 15 minutes later.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: Did you son have a good birthday?
- 0:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah he did.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: It was okay.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's all the matters.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: So you'll see this from yours, get older.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: We had seven boys over here for a sleepover on Friday.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: Halloween, sleepover, because it's birthday's Halloween.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: Holy shit.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: Then the next morning, my younger son had fly football playoffs.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: So I have to go through that.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: Then I took all of them solo to lunch at this place called cityside by B.C.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: Which shout out cityside.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for having us.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like they put us right in the middle of the action.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: So like there's a ton of Notre Dame people in there.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: And the boys are like, looking around, heads on a spoke of like, what is this, you know?
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: So my buddy Ron, who's one of my best friends from college, he came up from Connecticut with his son, he helped me out a little bit, but it was a, it was a long, I would say 30 hours or so, and hopefully he remembers it forever, and he's just a little bit grateful for everything that I did over that 30 hours.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: I also remember for a number of different reasons.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so if you missed the Thursday show Albert is an notorious Notre Dame mush.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_02]: He's been like, oh, we're recording.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't state mush.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: So then I turn that off.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm in Notre Dame mush, which I actually texted him during the game.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: And when it looked like they weren't trouble and I was like, see, I am in Notre Dame mush.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, I am in a heat, he basically said, you are buddy.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: So, but yeah, I'm God that you, you survived a skinnier teeth there.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: See, and it's the thing where, you know, you guys are dealing with problems this weekend.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you guys are just fat on the hog, you know, winning titles, and, you know, have to scratch and claw like, we have better receivers than all, but like six and adults.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: And, and, you know, at, you know, at Notre Dame, we got to go to class and stuff.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's different.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's different.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's a whole different set up.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_02]: And so,
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's frustrating when, you know, you have the option to not mush noted it even.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: Then you go and you try to do it anyway.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we're trying to do the right thing.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: We're doing it the right way.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: And we're trying to climb to the playoffs with integrity and dignity.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I'm just saying ball don't lie.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: Good prevailed on Saturday.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: So that's good.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm happy.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: We're getting there, man.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: Now, my amy lost, and now it makes the Notre Dame lost a look a little less.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think I don't know.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, see, I think the first rankings come out tomorrow, right?
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: This is in college football show, but the first rankings come out tomorrow.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: Notre Dame will definitely be in, right?
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: think so, but then you got a hang on because like navy, the loot, I mean, no, I won't.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a stresser.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know what those casuals cupcake city?
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: Don't do that.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: I all say is this because I'll try a bone and then we got to get into this because there's a lot that happened on Sunday, but for the reasons that you loved Saturday and being with your kids and taking them there, that first playoff with my kids and my family was awesome.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I want to experience that every year.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: That was so much fun.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I get that I'm not going to be able to.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: But this is a good chance CJ cars coming around.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_02]: I want to note it in the playoffs just because I love that family time.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's just a blast.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I mean, my kids are into our state now.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: And they love Jeremiah Smith and Caleb Downs.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: And they have like a, you know, the cool thing is, so we went for there for the spring game and in April, they think of these footballs with football program gave them, like he's like,
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: They, you know, those white footballs, right?
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: They went out.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: They were at like a, they got them, they got, they went to a closed practice, and they have all of these autographs on them.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, I mean, like, now they're watching the guys who signed their ball become stars.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: So like, Julia and Sans on there.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: And like, it didn't seem like that.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: They could deal with them at a time.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: But it's like now the guy might win the Heisman.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I mean, I think that like that's that's the cool thing for me.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like I I know I take crap for being as openly openly, whole brush as I am about my school, but it's like legitimately the only thing I wrote for anymore.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: So the experience I have like with my own dad of like, you know, rooting for different teams and stuff like I don't.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: When you do what we do for a lot of you don't have that as much, you know what I mean?
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like I don't at least and and so yeah Ohio State kind of became as become that thing for us, which is really really cool.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: This was a big Sunday Albert and a consequential Sunday for very many reasons.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: We had a bill's chiefs game and we'll get to that.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: But I think we have to start with Sunday night football and the score was not remotely close.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: And it's great.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: This was mean, but just a disastrous night for the commanders.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: Do we start there?
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: Do we start to see a ox?
- 5:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think we start with the commander.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: So the C ox won this one 38 to 14.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: Sam Darnell through four touchdowns all in the first half.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: Started in fantasy.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, not a bad day.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: I know we're crowning a different MVP every week.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like so.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's Baker Mayfield.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: It was Drake.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: Baker Mayfield felt like last year at this point.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: didn't he win that last year or something?
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's just playing such good football.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he looks so in control and like, I mean, it's Jackson Smith and Jake by the best receiver in the league now.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: Probably.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think if there's one guy that looks like the toughest cover in the NFL, it might be him, you know, and they run the ball well, and they, I mean, they just, I look at Seattle right now, like I look like I think Donald's up there is like, you know, Donald's
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: Darnell is playing like a top five quarterback and like that was highlighted last week.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, four touchdown passes and three completions, you know, it's unbelievable.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't know if this team has like a discernible weakness.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like when I was making calls about the on the trade deadline, right?
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: I should probably tweet something on this because one of the dosa forgot to put in there.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: But like Seattle, like sort of like they're sniffing around on everything.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know why?
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: Because they don't really have like any crime needs, you know?
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: like I don't like you see anything like on that road where you're like oh yeah they're really in trouble there I don't think it exists.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: I mean the right the right side of that offense flying needs needs a little bit of help I would say that.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think I think I think they could upgrade in the interior.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like I mean opposite crazy, right.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: What's happening?
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Blucus is a good player right now.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that's on there.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think you need your right guard.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe maybe.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: Right guard right.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's your problem.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like if that's the issue.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's it.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like in that it's been an issue for them, but they did address it.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was a black hole for them.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: Where that was why they drafted graves able where they drafted them, but um, right.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I just don't see a lot of like, like, whoa, they need to take care of that now.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they're talented and deep all over the place and they're young.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I mean, this to me, John Schneider might have bought himself another decade on that job with the Russell Wilson.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm serious.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, it is not just executing the trade.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's the timing of the trade.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's knowing when the right time was to make the trade.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's like what he did with the pecs, like that trade basically facilitated the, the, the, the renaissance of, of the organization, you know, yeah, and then it looks like he nailed it with the coach too.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: For I mean, this, this team just looks.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: they look so good and they look so well built.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: My only concern.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not a couple of people bring this up on Twitter on Sunday night.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: And I was just after they won the Super Bowl, they're going to lose going to go be active.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so many friends who are Giants fans just based on where I grew up and then kind of covered the team and met a lot of cool people through that.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I can't tell you how many, I can't wait until we hire Clint Kobyak texts I got last night.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: But.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'll say this, okay, and and I think that the stats support this what's funny about Seattle is that teams are still playing them like they are a good running team Seattle is the fourth worst rushing off in the NFL because I just I think they're pretty effective running them all though when they need to don't you I think they're they're like 28th in EPA per rush.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, because I watched, when I watched and played, there were been a couple of games I've closed out with that running game with Walker and Sharberna, where you feel like they're relatively effective, so maybe I'm just seeing things.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, what to I think there's like that whatever you want to call it.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_02]: There's, I think, situationally, it looks a certain way.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, let me, let me double check.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: I got pull up my, my Rush EPA.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry, they're 26th.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_02]: So Seattle, then Tennessee, Arizona, Houston, New Orleans, New England, and the Raiders all the way at 32, which is so funny because they have acidity, but here's the flip side of it.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: According to next gen stats, I look this up of the, let's see, 1, 2, 3, 4.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: five, six, seven of the seven highest percentages of running backs that face eight or more defenders in the box, Seattle has two of those players.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: So Sam Darnal was getting a lot of loaded boxes.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: They have a great offense that has all that run action, the classic Kubiak run action.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_02]: They do know a lot of really interesting things with the receivers in the back field and they're able to get some advantages there.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: But Darnal,
- 10:21[SPEAKER_02]: doesn't always have a lot of, there's not a lot downfield, which is why they're getting a lot of these shot plays, because I think teams are still playing them as if they're a dominant, run team, and they're really not.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of an illusion, which is cool.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think they've also like developed, like,
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think I get credit again for like the player development like with you know you mentioned Smith and Jake been obviously like this at this point he at the very least maybe first first team all pro, right.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: These and the run on on pace to break the receiving yard and trackered but then you have like young guys like like Horton and Barner and a rollo to me is like he's somebody like I was really.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: I thought like the way the way team described him before the dratchies like man if you can stay healthy he's really intriguing too.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah I mean you look at all of these guys and they're all like 23 24 25 years old.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: And the cool thing is like they should get better over the course of time and it's not like they don't have the tools to have a good running game right they do.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: They got two really good backs.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think they've got like an offensive line that again, like I'm not saying it doesn't have holes, but you've got good tackle, which is a good basis, which is, which is
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the your basis for a good line, you know, in any case, I just, I don't know, I, I look at it as a very complete team and they just have a lot of answers.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean, it's the sort of team when you look at it.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not that they don't have older players like you do have to mark this law, they're Marcus Lawrence and, and Jenna, I'll also like who you're still relying on Dexter Lawrence.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: I meant, God, I'm tired.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: I meant, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: And that literally, yeah, I was getting as conflating the two giants guys for sure.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: That happens.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but Leonard Williams, who's still giving him a really high level play.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: So they do have some older guys, but for the most part, it's a young team that should continue to get better over the course of the year.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: And even Rory is really, I love watching him and Rory play.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's the piece that clinches it all together.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll just say very quickly, I'm not saying that Seattle will not become a great, like to me, it's like, that just shows how far away they are from tapping the ceiling.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like once they get that figured out, I mean, look out with the commanders initially during that game when you watch what happened to Jaden Daniels is elbow and it's disgusting.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: It looks like a like if you've ever seen an umbrella kind of rolled in the wind that's kind that's a little bit of what like what it looked like, but.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_02]: Initially, the Twitter outcry is what the F was he doing?
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know, there's eight minutes left, right?
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: Wasn't that what it was?
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and so I went through because this is the kind of sick I am at one o'clock in the morning and I wrote about this.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_02]: You can go to si.com and look at it now.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: I just went through all of the, some of the biggest blowout to this season.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: Jared Golf was in late in the game up 52 to 21 on the bears in week two.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: Caleb Williams was also in that game up when they were down 45 to 21.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: Josh Allen almost broke his nose against the jets, came back into that game and was still in when they were up 30 to three.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_02]: Carson went some Jake Browning were both in at 483 in the Vikings and Bengals game in the Colts 40 to 6 blowout of the Raiders Daniel Jones and Gino Smith were both in when the score was 30 to 3 Patrick Mahal or 40 to 3 Patrick Mahomes was scrambling throwing and getting knocked on his ass when they're up 20 to 28 to 3 on the Raiders.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so you can't just sit here and say like
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a works.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's funny.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: I was actually, I was one of my tech groups with my guys Phil and Brad.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: They had, we were talking about this this morning and I mentioned how, when Bellachick pulled Brady from a game 11 years ago, it was on a Monday night in Kansas City, which led to the on-visits and anything, there was a question in the press conference after what they're not the quarterback position was under evaluation.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: And that was our guy, our guy, my G-arty, I love G-arty, it was a logical question at the time actually.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: And but like Tom Brady, who at that point had three Super Bowl rings, it was on its way to four, five and six.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: gets pulled with 10 minutes left in a blowout loss and I'm running into Kansas City and it ignites like a weak long sports radio controversy.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: So you're sort of damned if you do damned if you don't with this stuff, you know what I mean?
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I, and I, I don't know.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I just think you can't bubble wrap these guys.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's another discussion to have about Jane Danielle's and the hitsees taking.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's another discussion because I think this is a
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: you know, and does he protect himself enough?
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe that's catching up to him a little bit.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: But in this case, I
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like if he's if they're running read option with like a minute 30 left fine, you know what I mean, like I can understand like that's probably stupid, but you know, I get 17 of these and if you're trying to get right, you know,
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: I agree this problem was like everybody looks at this stuff like it's a video game You know what I mean like you can just go up plays whenever you can and like it doesn't work that way You know what I mean like especially the rules the way they are now like you sort of have to take advantage about any opportunity that you have to
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: to run your offense, run your defense and live situations with the guys that you're going to be relying on on one of the really counts.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you and I have been around the league long enough to know that almost no decision.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: And I would say the big exceptions are if you're already in the playoffs and your seed doesn't change, maybe you rest your starters in week 18, but rest your starters is in air quotes, because you can't really rest that many times.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, the way that your roster is, it's not like you can put in the JV team.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_02]: There is no JV team, right, but outside of that and what Nick Seriani did was say quembarkly, there are not a lot of high profile examples of the NFL of NFL coaches using the fear of injury as a precursor for a decision.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: And that goes into the whole ethos of, and I could talk for an hour about this, any NFL player that you've ever talked to, any coach that you've ever talked to, if you're worried about an injury when you go on the field, it's like speaking something ghostly into existence.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: I mean,
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I learned that really early on in my beatwriting career where, you know, I, you know, you'd ask somebody about like, well, aren't you afraid you're going to get hurt?
- 17:26[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, it's almost like going over to a picture and saying, hey, don't, you know, you're throwing a perfect game right now.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's just different.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like that's the other thing.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's just the nature of the sport.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: If you go and, and then with any hesitation, anything about those things at all, yeah, you're, you become more prone to injury.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so, but I mean, like, this is,
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: The big picture here is like just a disastrous knife for the commanders, you know, and like every way possible.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: Jade Daniels gets hurt, Martyn Lattermore looks like he tours ACL, Luke McAfrey breaks his collar bone and they get blown off the field at home.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: If I'm then I think about like some big picture stuff at the trade deadline, maybe I try to recuperate Cooper traffic or two because of like their aggression and I applaud their aggression and I think
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like that place is still set up, you know, for it's still set up to win a significant way in the next four or five years, right, but yeah, but you don't need you don't need Bobby Wagner and he said, you know, I mean you only have here's the thing is because of all, because of your aggression, you only have two picks in the first four rounds in April and because of how aggressively you've built, right,
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: You're already old in a lot of areas.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you look at their lineup, like, I mean, I look at guys like Jalan Kim, Javan Kim lies not a long-term answer.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: Bobby Wagner's not a long-term answer.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: Lou Boos question, but a lot of them are probably not a long-term answer.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you just look across D-Boas, not a long-term answer.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Zachart's is no long-term answer.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_02]: Can you give him back to San Francisco?
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: Who D-Boa?
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm thinking of thinking of me to force around pickback.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: I would do it yesterday.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Alex seriously, like, I don't think they would give you the force from pick that.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they would either.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it's like, it's one of those things where it's like, I appreciate the aggression and the way that they built.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like, but to me, like, this is the cautionary tale to some degree of just be careful about getting over your skis.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: Because
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: They spackled and they did such a spectacular job with it.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: They spackled a lot of holes because they inherited a broken roster, right?
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: They encoyed it out of Peter's inherited a roster that was just a disaster.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: So like their whole strategy was we're going to bring in a bunch of guys we know that have connections to our coaching staff and we're going to get the level ground across the roster so we don't learn holes and you know that we're going to invest in the
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, then you move on to the second phase of that and what is it?
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: Well, then they kind of doubled down on the strategy by trading for a lot of more and tonsil and Samuel and in the process and the roster got kind of old.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: And so now you're getting older in some key spots.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: And again, you only have two picks in the first four rounds in April.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's a, um,
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's a tough spot to be in and I do think like for that reason if you're them, I mean, look, if somebody's going to flip you something for Ken, why do you do it?
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, all of it, right?
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: And it's in the air out of the blue and I feel bad because I'm sure people in Washington are having like RG3 vibes now, you know what I mean?
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: But, well, that's dumb too.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_02]: And there was a whole bunch of strange on that where Jane Daniels' mom like two weeks ago was posting on social media like, please stop talking about RG3, you're putting weird vibes in the air.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_02]: the argy-three thing was totally different.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: That was, so it was clearly hobbled running zone read and getting pounded.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think there was like so if you really want to re-let a gate the history there, that's what I would tell you is that that was
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: The dad had pleaded in RG3's head that he needed to be a pocket quarterback and he wasn't ready to be one.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: So then he got hurt and Kurt Cousins came in for the one game when they were both rookies.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: And she and a hand went back to the traditional offense and the dad was upset because, well, why can't you do that for my, why can't you run that offense for my son?
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: And it was communicated that RG3 wasn't ready to run that offense and wouldn't be for a couple years.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: And so then I think when he went back in there, he was determined to show the degree of pocket quarterback.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then when he went back in again after tearing his ACL because again he was hanging in the pocket like that that injury happened in the pocket when he came back like he was so just sat on showing everybody that he could win for the pocket when he wasn't ready to do that yet that it's just completely fire bomb was development so like that one I think that one was an interesting one and that like just kind of to me like that was the first example of like
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: the merging of college and pro and what you need to be in college and what you need to be in the pros kind of going sideways and they're being I think conflicting priorities where people on an organization I can't imagine that any that's going to exist with Jade which I think was what protects you from that happening in this video.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't think anything like that's
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like his football character is too high to allow someone like that to happen he'll be fine.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: It sucks.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean it sucks, but this isn't like the sort of injury that's going to...
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm throwing it.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: I wish we could watch him the rest of the year.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: That part of it blows.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure it hurts a lot for him to have to miss the rest of his second year because that's what it looks like it's going to be.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: But this isn't the sort of injury that I think's going to adversely affect his ability to succeed in 26.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_02]: After I, I think you remember we had the shows in the summer, and I pointed out that I was concerned about the commanders, microwaving their rebuild, and then I got, it got clipped for social media, and then I got absolutely flamed by every single person in that market.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_02]: And there's still, if you look on YouTube, there's like, with my name's building correctly, not surprising, like a Tom Kern hit job here.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_02]: And if you look on, if you look on,
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: Was it with two ends?
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, everybody just like, no.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: What kind of is that?
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: How common is that?
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: So it could be used to be fair.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: It is confusing.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: One end is the first thing.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: Two legs is the last thing.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: This isn't like Brian with a Y.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you're a weird elf.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: You spell it with a Y.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like both spellings are Connor are pretty conventional.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: Don't you agree?
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, yeah, which is why you would be a normal human being and, and it will, and ask if, you know, if you're at Starbucks for whatever or whatever or if you're, if you're on the internet just Google it because it's not hard to find, but, um,
- 24:25[SPEAKER_02]: The Jade and Daniel's injury will be their escape hatch for excusing themselves for attacking my point of view.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: And so, because I think I was right the whole time, but that's neither here nor there.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_02]: So, that's just what I'm worried about being right and taking a victory lap and that's selfish, but you know, I'm just saying.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's what I got to deal with, you know, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it's my own, it
- 25:12[SPEAKER_02]: a lot of marksmariot and prime time and but at the same time some of these years
- 25:19[SPEAKER_02]: Especially, you're going to be only in your three of Jayden Daniel's rookie contract.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_02]: You're not talking about a long-term extension at this point.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: If you get a higher draft pick, you're going to be able to patch a position of need and whether that's corner certainly looks like corner for the commanders or whether that's you know, edge rush or whether it's offensive line.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to be able to patch them with a premium player.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe set Jayden Daniels up better for the long term.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, sometimes this good things happen at a bad situation.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't the 49ers have a quarterback injury, a bad one.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: And then that's how they got Bosa.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: I might, yeah, I was fighting those things.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: Grop them.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Grop low gutter, and then they got Bosa.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe he's the Bosa.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm just looking at their schedule now.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: I feel bad for Spain.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like they, they, they, they.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my God.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_02]: My only was just got back from Spain.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_02]: And they were telling me, like, how much they came into Spain.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_02]: Send to other things.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: Someone's furiously working at 345 Park to try to just a change to go over there.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, guys.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, please, please, like if you could just do this for us.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: Honest question, OK?
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: You're in Spain.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_02]: And you, I'm saying you, not someone who lives in Spain.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_02]: You're in Spain right now.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_02]: You've had dolphins.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: You've had dolphins, commanders, tickets, or whatever, six weeks.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_02]: You're very excited about it.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_02]: And then all of a sudden this happens.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_02]: And then someone says, you can either go there, or you can go across the street and you can see a bullfight or a third of the price.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: What are you doing?
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: Are you going to see dolphins commander?
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: I would say there'd be there'd be great curiosity for me in seeing the bullfight because I've never seen one before.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I think I go to the bullfight.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: My enlist has come back.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_02]: They said it's awesome.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like I actually watching a bullfight is blast apparently.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm all in there.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: Sun and I football, after Spain, against the Broncos, then they have the Saturday stand alone, which is that one where the NFL insists on competing against the NFL and system of competing against the college football playoff, because they try to hide and throw it out there and we're like, like, this is always dinner at a NFL Saturday.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: What are you talking about?
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have to work with the college football.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: And then they play Christmas Day.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: So you're right, there's a lot of stand-alone games
- 27:44[SPEAKER_02]: sitting front of the kids.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: Come on kids get out from underneath the tree.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_02]: Let's gather around the television and watch Marcus Mariana.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_02]: No offense.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: Marcus Mariana's good quarterback.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: I will say like it does, how can I put this delicately?
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't mind when the Christmas games suck.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, freeze you up a little.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I wouldn't say I wouldn't say I would against the teams that are playing on Christmas actively to make Christmas easier for me and make me less of a deadbeat dad on Christmas.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: But it wasn't horrible a few years ago when the Rams and Broncos were terrible on Christmas.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't agree more.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: I first started that game for the Rams,
- 28:29[SPEAKER_01]: probably and then hack it got fired the day after Christmas.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: Happy holidays.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's absolutely crazy.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: Football season is in full swing and underdog is the best place to get in on all the action.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: Playing an underdog is easy.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_02]: Just pick whether your favorite players will go higher or lower on stats like rushing yards, receptions, touchdowns and more.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: This week on Underdog, I'm looking at Josh Allen matching up against that porous Dolphins defense going higher than two touchdowns that's money download the app today, sign up with promo code MMQB to score a hundred dollars in bonus funds or entries when you play your first five dollars.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's promo code MMQB.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: Underdog, make picks.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_00]: win money.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: offer not valid in Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, concern with your play.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: Call 1-800-Gampler or visit ncpgambling.org in New York, call the 247 Hopeline at 1-877-8 Hope NY, or text Hope NY, 4-677-369.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's get into the rest of the slay here.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, kind of a big consequential week for a lot of reasons.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I feel like I'm burying chiefs pills.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll explain why in a second, but I want to talk about the Vikings first because to me, in the Vikings beat the Lions, 27 to 24, the big news out of this one, Albert, is that JJ McCarthy went from being
- 30:09[SPEAKER_02]: offensive player of the week a couple weeks ago to being the Tom Brady LFG player of the week this week.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_02]: So it's a massive haul already.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_02]: This guy's going to have to get a new cabinet new awards.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_02]: But if you go back to
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, even eight days ago, the drumbeat of conspiracy, the fact that Carson Wentz was playing a game when he probably shouldn't have health-wise or whatever, once it was masking an injury and trying to squeeze a little more toothpaste out of that tube, however you want to sort your cards out in that situation.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_02]: But it looked like, and I know this is not true.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_02]: But for a large portion of the outside public, it looked like Kevin O'Connell was hiding JJ McCarthy from gameplay, right?
- 30:56[SPEAKER_02]: And the fact that you turned away so many other quarterbacks, right, there's just this whole groundswell of controversy around this.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_02]: And so if he comes out against the lines and poops his pants,
- 31:09[SPEAKER_02]: You have a big problem, but if he doesn't, any plays well, which I think he did, and we could talk about that, then now the NFC North is just like a, it's like a sloppy muddy mess.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's like KYRS college, you know, it's just everybody's just in there.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of bodies flying around.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: So I, I wish people would just trust Kevin O'Connell on this.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's earned our trust with the job that he would cut cousins first then with Sam Darnel last year.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think the guy knows what he's doing with quarterbacks.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: And like I think his handling of this was exactly what it needed to be.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: And here's what I mean.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: I remember this conversation with Matt LaFlor.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was, whatever, three years ago, when Jordan Love first became a star, two and a half years ago, when Jordan Love first became a star.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: And he said to me that if they had put Jordan Love out there in year one or year two, they might have destroyed his confidence.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like his point was, when you destroy a young quarterback's confidence, it's almost impossible to get it back.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: It takes years to get it back.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we've seen that, right?
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so like I'm gonna take you kind of inside like the handling will last two weeks, you know, the Vikings, which was the two days before that Thursday night game, on Tuesday morning, they bring JJ McCarthy out, the coaches are out there, the trainers are out there, and they're working them out to see where he's at.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: It was clear at the end of that work out that he was not fully confident in the ankle.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: And he wasn't fully confident that like he was gonna be able to play to high level on the ankle.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: Let's say they say, let's say they push him out there and say, now we gotta have you out there.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna shove you onto center stage against the Jesse Mentor defense that throws a zillion things at you.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: Sinkers swim kid, right?
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: Then he has 10 days to hear going into Detroit, right?
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: Shring Rekki is, should he go back to Carson once?
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: Because remember if that was the handling of it, Carson once would probably still be available, right?
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: So you wreck his confidence, now you're chasing that potentially for the rest of the year.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_01]: And you've got another quarterback who's hurt and old God, what are we gonna do?
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: Instead, Kevin O'Connell prioritized McCarthy's confidence.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that's something that he's consistently done with the guys that he's worked with is like, how can I get this guy in a spot where he's gonna feel good about what we're doing, what he's doing, and his handle on everything around him.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: And they've been very deliberate about the way they've developed McCarthy in that way.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, even like going back to like the once a week meetings that they had last year, just JJ and Kevin.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, I think what you saw in this game was another example of how they're managing him.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: He only threw the ball 25 times.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_01]: They ran it 29 times.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_01]: They ran for 142 yards.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_01]: They were able to control it with Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_01]: And they,
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: We're able to show him in spots like we have confidence in you.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I think like the confidence they showed him and then prioritizing this confidence showed a huge at the very end of the game when it was time for time to see what you got, right?
- 34:37[SPEAKER_01]: And there was the busted play, which my understanding is that was on Jordan Mason Jordan Mason ran the wrong way, right, right now he is standing there, I don't know if you saw it, but he is standing there is first and 10 and if he takes a loss in that situation, now all of a sudden the volume and that stadiums turned up to a million.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: JJ, immediately recognized what was going on, tucked the ball and ran forward for four yards.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: And that won't be remembered, but that to me was a kid who was confident in himself and his surroundings and new his coaches had his back.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: So he rips off the four yards, then they go for no gain or one yard in the next flight.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: Then Kevin O'Connell puts the ball back in JJ's hands.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: JJ sees the one-on-one match-up with speedy nailer and throws the back shoulder.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: It makes the back shoulder throw to win the game.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's his name.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's his confidence.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to do so much for him going forward.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think what you're seeing in Minnesota, I don't know if JJ's gonna make it, and be the quarterback there for the next 15 years.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if he's gonna sign a big second contract there.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, he might, he might, it's way too early to be able to make a real determination on that.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_01]: But I think they're giving him the best chance to get there.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's the point of all this.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: Is they are giving him the best chance to get there?
- 36:13[SPEAKER_01]: And they're gonna come out of this year
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: Um, then if they had done things the other way.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: So I just think Kevin deserves a lot of credit for his handling of it.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it showed up at the end of the game.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_01]: And now the Vikings are going to be playing important games going forward.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: Jalen nailer's nickname is speedy.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_02]: Are you so bad?
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: I was wondering what were you saying in the brows kind of bit rant.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_02]: So no, that's good.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_02]: I, I, I, I, I, I wanted to give you that space.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_02]: But player nicknames, especially on a profile ball reference are a little bit of a bug above mine.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, speedy speedy stuff, you know, and long time listeners of the show will know that the genesis of this came back to Janaurus Jenkins and when I covered the giants and they were like, hey, you know, he prefers to be called Jack Rabbit and I was like, that's cool.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not calling another human Like an animal unless we go through a full
- 37:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you want to go to the courthouse and you want to make this thing official.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll call you whatever you want.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_02]: But like, because it's going to be the brand of your flip flops or whatever.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to call you that just to just to kind of help you out.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think this video would be a better nickname if it was, um, it was iron.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_01]: I've always like ironic.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I mean, like, how you call like a 360 pound guy, tiny.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's like, um, Notre Dame.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: We haven't even caught me or you're a speedy.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_02]: Notre Dame used to have this fullback called Joey Goodspeed and I used to love that and you know, it's just not fast.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_02]: And it was so funny that his name was Joey Goodspeed.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_02]: On the line side of it, I thought that we saw the limitations, by the way, I feel like my trade deadline dream trades and we talked about them last week while I'm not nailing them.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like, Jalen Phillips, right before we started taping went to the Eagles.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_02]: I Bradley Chubgone to the Eagles, but one of the, one of the pastors went to the Eagles, the other thing that I kept pounding the table for was that Taylor Decker's not healthy, this offensive line and dance skippers find, but you need more help.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think we saw the limitations of this offensive line in this Viking scheme.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_02]: And the Bryan Flores is defense beat the crap out of this front, and they were stuffing runs.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_02]: You basically had to take Jamir Gibbs out of that game because David Montgomery was the only one who could pass protect.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's, I think, instructive for Detroit that, like, once that iron facade goes down to that offensive line, there's still a great team, but they need some help.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I think they got to get a little bit active here at the death of the.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, if Decker,
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: Look, Dekker's what 10 years in now.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's, you know, I mean, good events were going to come to the point when and he's been a great player.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: They're in a foundation piece for them, you know, him and, right, him and Rag now.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're really kind of the guys that Dan Campbell built around from a cultural standpoint when he got there.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, eventually he's going to come to the point where
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I think Splubs over to the left side, sort of like Tristan Worsen and Tampa, you know?
- 39:11[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll see what happens there.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_02]: But for the lines, it's tough, right?
- 39:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's, you know, and that's why I think I buried the chiefs bills, because it's, you know, you know, these teams are gonna be fine.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it was just a little bit of, you know, it's one of those wonky games, right?
- 39:25[SPEAKER_02]: And the interior offensive line, I mean, the lines were down to like their third string left guard in this game.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're facing Bryan Flores,
- 39:34[SPEAKER_02]: scrambling the communication of good defensive lines, you know, if you're down to like your third or fourth guy there, you're just you're dead in the water against the Vikings, but I think the overall thing is that I think that Minnesota wanted to get through this week still believing that JJ McCarthy.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_02]: can continue to keep them interesting and in-games, and I don't see any reason why we can't believe that.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_02]: He needs some extra nutrition and made some good throws.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_02]: He's a young guy, right?
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: Who's, who do they have next week more.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: Ooh, yep.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_02]: Hello.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: Keep putting this guy, I don't know.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_02]: I like watching JJ McCarthy.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_02]: There's something, just something.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's got Moxie, I think he's got like, I just think he's got like a toughness about him.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's, yeah, I guess it's an easy thing to say, but it's like a little bit of a hockey player to him.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_01]: Which is like what you was when he was growing up, you know, but like there's a little bit of a hockey player to him.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go to chiefs bills.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_02]: Is it weird that I am so like this season to me is so awesome and so exciting and I love like the fact that the culture interesting, I love the fact that sea hawks are look dominant that chiefs bills is kind of like when Shawshank redemption is on TNT for the 35th time and you're like, this is a great movie, but I've seen it.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: If you have to watch it.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_02]: And like you feel like you have to watch it because it's so good and it's just like an American cinematic classic and all that stuff, but you're kind of like, you know, whatever I could take it or leave it, I might fall asleep on the couch during it.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this was the bills are a run dominant team right now.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_02]: I was shocked at how poorly I thought the chief's defense was going to come in and wall up this thing shut down James Cook and force Josh Allen.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_02]: to get a little bit creative with the wider severs, which he just doesn't have at this point, but the chiefs allowed the bills to play Box La Crosse, which is a reference you make on the show all the time.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_02]: They're the most skewed run pass.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_02]: They're the only team I think with a more than 50% run to pass ratio, the bills.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I said it on
- 41:45[SPEAKER_02]: I said it on the other program.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_02]: He had to call last night that I'm on that it's eagles ask with buffalo where I think they're taking a lot of things off of Josh Allen's plate and they're replacing it with a heavier workload on James Cook because while you have a really good back, you should you should grind it out.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_02]: They're running well to all ends of the field.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if you look at the stats that break down, they run really well up the middle, they run really well to the left, they run really well to the right.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_02]: Just use it like and Josh Allen running less.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_02]: He's running less.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's great.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_02]: Like this is a win win win win win win win win win for me.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know the Josh Allen hit 10 different receivers yesterday?
- 42:23[SPEAKER_01]: 10.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: And he only completed 23 balls think about that math.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: Neither of us.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I don't think.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm saying.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: But 23 23 completions to 10 different receivers.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think the MVP thing might be something we're overthinking.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's still, he just looks so under control and I love my homes and my home is right there with them and they're they're right now the two best quarterbacks and football right like, but I like there's just a control that Josh Allen has now where everything is starting to look really easy for him that's got to be scary for the rest of the league because I just feel like they didn't take the Ferrari out of the garage the last two weeks really, you know,
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: There's a way that they're building this very intentional that's like, we are developing other muscles, we're becoming more balanced, you know, and then when we got a flex the ones that we've had, we will use possible buffalo doesn't lose again.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're not.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_01]: I just look at them and I was like, they did not, they hit a rut and like, I think that there's a belief there that this is just the start.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: So they have Miami, Tampa is a big one in two weeks, right?
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: You weren't going to stop.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think they lose at least two two more games.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_02]: I do.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 13 and four.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, it's a, yeah, which probably means every, which probably means the AFC's going through Buffalo.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: And wouldn't that be something a flight, the last game at Highmark Stadium, which by the way, I'm a little melancholy about that place closing.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_01]: You've been there.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: That place.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's a little bit of a crap hole, but it's like
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: the last of like, that Lambo is too, but Lambo's been renovated to the point where, like, it's really like the last, it's the NFL's last time far.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, oh for sure.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think Lambo to a certain extent is too, although they got like the museum and now it's a little bit different, you know, but yeah, no, I agree with that.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, there's just something about that place where you feel,
- 44:56[SPEAKER_01]: You feel like regular, like there are regular people at those games, so many of these places it feels like you're like some sort of corporate outing.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean like, especially all the ones on the East Coast, like all the ones on the East Coast, maybe with the exception of Baltimore, they all feel like you're some sort of corporate function, you know what I mean like, and then the West Coast too, like I just feel like with the exception of Seattle, I just feel like Buffalo, I feel like
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like if they finally broke through and got for the Super Bowl for the first time and what is it 30 years in the last game in that stadium will be pretty fitting.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see what happens.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I do think Buffalo, you're seeing a team that's capable of, like there's still a lot more out there for them.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think I would be interested to see if they, like if you're them to you throw the Saints a third round pick for sheheed,
- 45:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it's tough, right?
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: Because I just think that... Because it's the one thing that you don't have is like, do they have a guy who can really threaten down the field?
- 46:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like, they already take the lid off.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: They were thrown down the field of Dawson, and Dawson, and Dawson, and Dawson, and Dawson, like, they have the guy that can really kind of weaponize Josh Allen's arm strength, like that'd be the one thing.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's tough when you're Brandon Bean and I get the frustration and we've heard him kind of jabbering back and forth with all the talk radio guys that they're and I love talk radio Buffalo Jeremy White is a friend of the show for short great guy.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_02]: But I get his frustration, I think, with the idea that he's built this thing to try it.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like you said, sustainably and to try to maximize Josh Allen over the long haul.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're also him, you can't sit out this trade deadline.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_02]: You just can't because everything is shaping up to this idea that like, you know, the Lions look a little fallible, the chiefs are are starting to turn into something good, but you beat them handily again with another awesome defensive game plan from Sean McDermott and we should mention that.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, everything Sean McDermott just has my homes as number in the regular season.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_02]: He always throws a curve ball that frustrates him.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_02]: You have everything working for you right now.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: Your running game is never going to be better than this ever.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think you're right, like it's not like you're you're not admitting that the receiving cupboard is understocked, but you're just making sure that you're checking all the boxes.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that they need to get active, right?
- 47:27[SPEAKER_02]: We're already seeing some of the bigger names fly off the board.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: If I'm being, I start, uh, you know, getting that thing on speed dial and it's sheheed.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's, I mean, it's anything.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, and this is not to say that they haven't.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_02]: They got a married Cooper last year.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_02]: They, let me ask you this.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_01]: If you give she heed for a three and a sign of the Jerry Judy's contract, would you do it?
- 47:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would too.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: I would.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: Hell yeah, I'm just trying to think about your contract that would make sense as a calm.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_01]: And like that feels like it's ballpark you know what I mean like so because I think he would just add something that's a little bit different to their office I got a lot for them to get a lot there, but I don't think a lot is really available like the same to the trying to extend a lot they so that like if you want to talk about train trades like she need to me is sort of a stylistic fit for Josh Allen and can really I think.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: make the threat of what Josh Allen can do to you real and like I think he effectively helps you're running game too because you're moving safety out of the box.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'll let the Titans let's do it anyway.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_02]: We got a couple more games to get to before it gets ugly.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_02]: And we get to the bottom of the barrel here.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_02]: The other one here, Superiors 47, the Bengals 42, this whole thing is absurd, right?
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: The Bengals are starting like, I don't do you see some of this stuff that was,
- 48:47[SPEAKER_02]: coming out of that locker room.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so let's start there chase brown saying like finished the F in game.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think the thing that troubled me the most were some of the reporters that were saying that the defensive players were laughing on the way out and saying, yeah, maybe I'll talk to you on Monday.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's surprising to me that
- 49:06[SPEAKER_02]: it got to the point where it's, it's this bad, right?
- 49:11[SPEAKER_02]: And the, the mistackle numbers on Cincinnati are historical.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I just think, oh, I'm pulling up like I, I, I think,
- 49:21[SPEAKER_01]: When you hear that like that the players are leaving and not answering for their performance and then you have tomorrow chase and chase brown standing there answering questions about the defense.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's not just a media thing like that's a problem, you know, oh yeah and like so do those guys in the defensive side of the ball.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: Because I know, like, how competitive guys are.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: You said T-higgins, like the big catchy made the hitty took, right?
- 49:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like in in Jamar Chase and and Chase, but I know those guys are fighting their nuts off to try to win a game that's going to give them a chance when Joe Borough gets back in the lineup.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: And so, like, I know, like that loss and the loss that we before the jets, cuts those guys very deep, and I know how competitive those guys are.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I know how mad you would be if you look across the locker room, and you see guys surfing responsibility or laughing, right?
- 50:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's how offense versus defense problems vester and locker rooms.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_01]: And that's something that's active or an algal and we're going to have to get on top of because like you can't, like those can get worse in a hurry.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you were around those jet teams where that happened, right?
- 50:40[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God, yeah.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_02]: That was a constant thing.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_02]: And here's the reality of it, right?
- 50:45[SPEAKER_02]: And for everybody, again, saying this is a self-important media story.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_02]: If Chase Brown is saying anything with us.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_02]: If Chase Brown is saying, finished the effing game to a bunch of strangers that are standing in front of his locker, can you imagine what is being said behind closed doors when this team is taking the time to sort all this out and to sort through the wreckage.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that to me is is the story.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_02]: What's going on here?
- 51:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll just put a bow on it with this Albert.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_01]: So you want to hear the Jamar Chase, like the Jamar Chase stuff which is strong.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_01]: So because they catch them on camera and I'm not the biggest fan of catching guys coming off the field like video and guys coming off the field.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but he knew they were there because they're there because they're there every day, you know.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_01]: He knows one effing stop coming off the field, right?
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: And then afterwards he said, it's not phone when you're losing.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to stay in my lane.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want no defensive players coming chewing me out about what the F I'm doing.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_01]: So like that implies that if they complain about the defensive players, the defensive players are going to get upset with them and like Jamar is basically saying, like I don't want to hear it from them, I mean, I mean, I mean, I like this is the sort of thing.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_01]: Man goes got to be real careful, man, like this is the sort of thing like this was Carson Palmer.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 52:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_02]: And it sucks too because I think it's two things, right?
- 52:19[SPEAKER_02]: And this is sort of a big picture thing, even though it's like a microcosm thing.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, this is why you don't scapegoat a great coach like Lou Andromo, just because you're having problems.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_02]: And you put in yourself in a situation where you just look woefully underprepared on the defensive side of the ball.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even get out back to back weeks.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I don't get a firing was even Zach's call.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_01]: So, right, I don't know.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think that there's just, there are some bigger questions.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: You got to ask here.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I think I look like,
- 52:54[SPEAKER_01]: Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, Teagan's are very competitive individuals, and, you know, I know Joe had taken pride in, like, I have skin in this game too, you know.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's very prideful about that, like, instead of like trying to shove his way out of going to Cincinnati when they had the first pick, he chose to be like the age and a change, right, like I'm going to go in there, I'm going to change that place and in some ways the Bengals have changed, you know.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_01]: But in other ways, they haven't.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I just look at like, this is almost like, you have to cut somebody on defense to send a message.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, yeah, I mean, it's gotten to that point.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know, you have a missed tackle stats.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_01]: You could probably find somebody that we're just like, all right, buy.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_01]: You first mean likely you try to play some or whatever.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_02]: So go, on October 25th.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_02]: So going into this week, and I'm sure it's gotten much worse.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_02]: Um, if you're going by percentage of tackles missed.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, the Rams are the best tackling team in the NFL.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_02]: They miss one tackle on every 4.8% of place.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_02]: Cottonwood?
- 54:02[SPEAKER_02]: Bengals are number one, they have like 30 more missed tackles than any other team in the NFL and they're missing tackles.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_02]: And this is before last week.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_02]: They're missing tackles at a 15% clip.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_02]: So almost one in every five plays and what happened missing a tackle and a game winning touchdown you missed tackle the accumulation of yard stats on that was wild.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was like thousands of yards like more than a thousand yards that they've given up missed tackles this year, I don't know, that's that's nuts, but I hate to take away the shine from the bears because this Ben Johnson offense is humming, I mean, they just look on this is recon believable.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, another example of, you don't put the world on the uncoordered back shoulders, you give them support, you're able to win different ways, you know, and.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like you're consistently trying to put them in an advantage of situations, you're not playing for behind, you're not playing for long long yardage, you know, you're in less obvious passing situations, so you don't have to empty the clip all the time and what you've got for those sorts of spots.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_01]: Um, he's doing a good job and and look like I think part of it, too, like I talked to close to the level and after the game and like part of it, too, was them going through a really difficult summer where it didn't look right a lot, you know, where they continually, like, all right, we're going to see what you can handle.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to throw a million things that you and it's not going to look great, you know what I mean?
- 55:29[SPEAKER_01]: But we're going to figure out what we're good at.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_01]: It feels like Ben Johnson's done a really nice job of like executing this plan that wasn't so much about what you're doing on one day or the other, it was about what you were doing over months.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and we'll see where it goes, but I think that was a record for yardage, right?
- 55:44[SPEAKER_01]: What was that team record for yardage yesterday?
- 55:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was the sixth most yards accumulated in a pair's game ever and the most yardage in a pair's game since 1980.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_02]: Right, the pairs have been around for a while.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_02]: incredible.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, I'm almost as afraid.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_02]: I put it to you and I'm curious what you think about this.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_02]: So you remove, let's take the alien quarterbacks, the three Lamar, Josh and Patrick and take them out of the equation.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_02]: Where are you in terms of I fear Ben Johnson's offense.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_02]: with the current collection of players, where is he on your list?
- 56:26[SPEAKER_02]: Because to me, it's Sean McVe right now with his current group of players as the guy that's the biggest headache to plan for and I have been at number two.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_02]: Kyle, with your current collection of players.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so like the fact they have no IU that they have no... And you're starting, Matt Jones, yeah.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's got to be up because like, okay, yeah, you have all gone on.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_02]: You have a lot of these guys, but I'm saying with the guys that you have right now.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_02]: Josh McDaniels.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_02]: More than, more than Ben Johnson right now.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's close.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm close.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_02]: Interesting.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just trying to think that's a great question.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just trying to think like.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_01]: All right, well, we're going to... You're taking like, yeah, you're taking like the super
- 57:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, stay again.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_01]: Close.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like we have received advice because they lost, right?
- 57:20[SPEAKER_01]: But stay can would be up there, I think.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_02]: I think so too.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_02]: So let's go down the list here.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_02]: We just got a couple.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, Ram's 34 Saints 10.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have much here.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this is, you know, this is just like a good team playing a bad team and business was taken care of.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_02]: This was, this was an absolute ass weapon.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_02]: Jaguar's 30 Raiders 29 at Trevor Lawrence flew game, which is very exciting.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_02]: His fiance or his wife, I'm sorry, was tweeting, or Instagramming about how a down bad they were.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_02]: Liam Cohen said that Trevor Lawrence was as pale as a ghost, which I guess would excuse the god-awful co-line interception that he threw, but also elevate.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_02]: painful diarrhea just be the absolute worst thing in the world would have to be.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, and God, the Jaguars had some, you know, I don't know.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_02]: You know, what equipment guy would be able to take care of it, right?
- 58:19[SPEAKER_02]: You got to have unlimited pants, I suppose, and you just kind of and you live with it.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_02]: But this was a game that the Raiders had for the taking.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_02]: Raiders should win this game.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_02]: Brock Bowers was fabulous.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_02]: There's no other word to describe it.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_02]: He looked
- 58:33[SPEAKER_02]: dominant.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_02]: That was one of the best Titan performances I've ever seen with them in there.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_01]: And then the Raiders lose games this way the rest of the year and that would be great for them because they'll have a high traffic and be competitive, but Brock Bowers is another worldly type of weapon.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_01]: If they can get Chanty rolling, what she still looks
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: It will see, but I mean, you can see the basis of like a, you can see the basis of some things with the Raiders and powers isn't there.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_02]: When powers was in, so if they had one that game, which they should have, they come out of that game three and five.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sitting there going on.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, right?
- 59:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like, don't trade everybody at the deadline.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_02]: You might be able to bang around a little bit heartbreaking.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_02]: Um, they go for two in overtime.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not one of those analytics are clear and simple, uh, people.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think, I mean, you know, where I stand in that, I think the analytics and all that stuff are they can be very faulty because they don't take into account a lot of important factors.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's just me.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_02]: But to me, right, it's, if you, if you kick the extra point, and I think it was, um, like a low pez, you worked for the NFL and it was awesome.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_01]: the son of my high school football coach as everybody knows.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_01]: Coach Lopez, who I will get in trouble with in middle school and then play for and was terrified of in high school.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, you can go back to you.
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, I picked a two or a Berlin.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_01]: We still run and see if that's it.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_01]: Here were the ducks were used football program.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's awesome.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_02]: But the numbers here are pretty clear.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I hate to be that guy.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm almost never that guy.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_02]: But in this situation, you're absolutely right.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_02]: You take the two point conversion and you give yourself a, you know, whatever, a game dependent 50 50 shot, essentially, if you kick the extra point, it goes to a 15% win percentage, a 40% loss and a 45% chance of a tie.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, jacks will have a funky team right now too.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, with Travis Hunter on IR, this is just a yikes, you know?
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, like, it'll be interesting to see, like, where Jacksonville goes from here, because they were real hot and then they cooled off and I don't know, this is a real moment, time builder, you know, after coming off the bay after the loss of the sea odds or in Rams, that came and used it on Sunday as a big one for both those teams, you know,
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_02]: We shall see.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about the Stroud situation.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos won this game 18 to 15.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_02]: And I was so bummed because the Texans, essentially, we're about to win this game exclusively on special teams.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_02]: And Frank Ross is, I think, one of the most underrated coaches in the NFL was the last two time winner of the Rick Gosselin Special Teams unit of the year.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_02]: And then they discontinued your time.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_02]: to, right?
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, literally everyone who works there is sooner.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_02]: It wouldn't surprise me.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_02]: But he is outstanding.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_02]: And I think probably as the best chance of any special team's coordinator to kind of break that that proverbial ceiling and get ahead coaching job like his units are just
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_02]: every year through just fantastic.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_02]: And I love the idea of a literally a special team's unit winning a football game because they were blocking kicks, they were returning balls, they were covering kicks well, like they did everything, the kick field goes well, they did everything.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_02]: really well in this game, but when you lose C.J.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_02]: Strado to a concussion, and it's not like this offense was thrown, hey, makers, before that, but pretty punchless at that point, because David's Mills just isn't getting it done against it.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_02]: Arguably the best defense in the NFL, right?
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_01]: Right, and both these scenes are really good defensively, so I think that, you know, that's the difference.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I like, you know, bone X's.
- 1:02:48[SPEAKER_01]: What's interesting about Bownex is that you don't always walk away from Sunday thinking, oh yeah, like that guy's got a chance to be a top five quarterback, but he makes so many big plays at the end of these games.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_01]: We saw at the end of the Giants game and in this one, like seeing the scene and then running through it for 25 yards to set up the
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_01]: the game wanting field goal right like if you watch that play like just is a awareness and is decisiveness and like all right like there it is like you know I can just do this on my own and get us into field goal range you know to me is like another example of like I guess it's cliche but like he's just kind of a winner you know what I mean like you get him in these situations and he doesn't
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't fold and part of that I think is like everything that he went through you know like an at Auburn in Oregon and you know now is a pro like just a really resilient kid who like He's the guy you want your fox hold the end of the game and I think it's it keeps showing up in these situations and that To me is like sort of the story of Denver Denver can run the ball well Denver can play a great defense and you said maybe the best defense in the NFL
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_01]: Um, they're riding it out right now without certain and like this is what makes this was going to make that Denver dangerous is that like they can pull you into a dark alley and make it their type of game and then they're quarterback is capable of making a throw as you need to make it the end and won't be and won't shrink to the moment, you know.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_02]: Will, you know, this is one of those things where I, this game is tough for me because and I'm one of those fantasy-led people from time to time where when I watch Denver and yes, I have RJ Harvey on every single one of my teams.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_02]: and every time this guy touches the ball, something unbelievable happens.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_02]: And then he finishes the game with like eight touches.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_02]: And you're like, why is this?
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that this offense is more efficient than I'm believing it is.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that it's not broken.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_02]: And then I think that it is working.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think that sometimes they're just going to hit these, hiccup performances and let's not, let's not discount the fact that Demico Riance had bonix on ice skates for a lot of this one.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_02]: And the Texans are again, I mean, you talk about the bangles and offense versus defense issues, Texans are the same, but in reverse.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the their hope that offense fails them out, but that defense is just playing absolutely lights out.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, no question.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_02]: Let's move on Albert because we got there was just a couple games that we had like a really just like rich amount of of discussion to get into, but still is 27 colds 20.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_02]: I
- 1:05:33[SPEAKER_02]: My big takeaway here.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_02]: I know everybody now is penning the, oh, here's this is exactly what we did with Sam Darnal last year, right?
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're waiting for it, but they're just like, oh, oh, oh, here he is, okay, yep, then you don't suck.
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_02]: He told you he sucks the whole time.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_02]: No, okay, here's what happened, okay.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_02]: And this stat was unbelievable when I saw it.
- 1:05:57[SPEAKER_02]: Brilliant job by Mike Tomlin.
- 1:05:59[SPEAKER_02]: to move Jalen Ramsey to safety.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_02]: Jalen Ramsey was knocking people out in that game is a natural fit at that position.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_02]: The Steelers went from one of the lowest to high safety team or to safety over the top teams in the NFL to the highest in that game.
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_02]: So this is a version of Pittsburgh's defense that Daniel Jones has never seen the chain strike and has never seen it's impossible to game plan for.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, so they get after you a little bit, right?
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_02]: And this is still a slow defense that has a hard time getting after the quarterback, but when you're pausing back there for an extra second, it's going to cause some issues.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to create a couple turnovers.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody chill the F out.
- 1:06:38[SPEAKER_02]: The carriage is not turned back
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think we find, like I said, like this is like we can give them a blip, you know, and yeah, I mean, all those all the stuff went wrong, they didn't run the ball as well as they normally do.
- 1:06:57[SPEAKER_01]: Jones turned the ball over.
- 1:06:58[SPEAKER_01]: There were stuff Pittsburgh did to mess with the cult's motion or they're trying to get indicators and the Steelers were able to effectively cloud some of that.
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a good defensive effort, but you still, I mean, at the end, have a chance in the fourth quarter, despite all the turnovers to win that game on the road.
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know that this is like the exposing of the Indianapolis coast that I think a lot of people are going to make it out to be this week.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_02]: No, that's because, and I know it'll sound like I'm not giving them their time.
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_02]: I just think that I think that Mike Tomlin did a really good job.
- 1:07:36[SPEAKER_02]: Mike Tomlin had a good game and he'll be the first to admit that he had a really bad game the week before and that that was not their best defensive performance.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_02]: And he made a shift.
- 1:07:46[SPEAKER_02]: They upgraded at the trade deadline.
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_02]: They did everything exactly the way that they were supposed to do it, right?
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_02]: There's, there's much that you can throw at Pittsburgh in terms of how they're not doing that, you know, they're all in the season and they continue to behave like an all in team and I think that this win is one of those that just bench marks the fact that like this is still a team that's going to cause some problems.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like Baltimore, it's just going to walk right into first place and I don't know, we'll see what happens.
- 1:08:15[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Mike Tomlin is, you know, that defense.
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_02]: despite some of their deficiencies, I think we saw the outlier potential for it if they can continue to be versatile down the stretch.
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_02]: Couple more here, 49 or 34 Giants 24.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_02]: This one wasn't nearly as close as it looked.
- 1:08:34[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this was a,
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_02]: You know, was what 17 to 7 at the half, 20 to 10 and then both teams scored two touchdowns in the, in the final, Christian McCaffer just keeps rolling.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_02]: Macchillens is this was my best preseason prediction.
- 1:08:51[SPEAKER_02]: I said he was going to play his way from Kyle Shanahan to another full time starting gig next year and I think he's absolutely doing.
- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think like, you know,
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_01]: You may not, like, because he hasn't been a spectacular as Taylor or B. John or even James Cook, but like I think McCaffrey deserves some MVP mention, just because he's the one constant there.
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's been the one him and Trent Williams, but he's been the one constant in that
- 1:09:30[SPEAKER_01]: like that if you're a defense you've got to count for him on every play and like he's allowed them a level of like game control that you know you're managing your holes on defense and you're managing some of your deficiencies in offense and you're managing your injuries I mean the fact that like I mean he has 33 touches in this game you know and again like he average 3.8 yards
- 1:09:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like the value that he brings to the table.
- 1:10:01[SPEAKER_01]: And we're actually like talking about that word value.
- 1:10:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's off the charts, you know?
- 1:10:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so I don't know.
- 1:10:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think he deserves a lot more mention than he's getting for that award.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_01]: And he's in that group of players along with Taylor along with
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_01]: be John that are, you know, going to, I think, and I'll likely get to 2000 scrum in jars.
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_01]: James Cook could get there too.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_01]: But I think just as far as, like, what do you mean to his team?
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_02]: because of all of the injuries been a lot.
- 1:10:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm amazed at how well this team has stayed together.
- 1:10:37[SPEAKER_02]: Again, I mean, I just re-up the take, right, that this is one of Kyle Shanahan's best coaching performances, staff wide, talk to bottom.
- 1:10:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that one of these days, I will not leave Ricky Pierce all in my fantasy lineup and just come back hours later to see him having scored.
- 1:10:54[SPEAKER_02]: zero points and this team will be closer to full.
- 1:10:58[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, do you think like I don't know in a month?
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_02]: We see at least a closer to full complement of 49ers players.
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's no boast of no Warner.
- 1:11:09[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, those are good Mac.
- 1:11:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like we're right in that window now where I you should be like closing in getting back.
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_01]: I know they they had kind of circled week 10, which is where we were at.
- 1:11:23[SPEAKER_01]: They make another trade, you know, for D-Lineman.
- 1:11:27[SPEAKER_01]: If you're them, do you circle back with the Jets on Germaine Johnson who Robert Solidrafted, you know?
- 1:11:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like that one.
- 1:11:39[SPEAKER_01]: Or do you think like at this point, you're gonna have to get younger because your core is aging and you need to hold on to your draft picks?
- 1:11:46[SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm.
- 1:11:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:11:48[SPEAKER_01]: They're sort of that word in between, you know what I mean?
- 1:11:51[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to need draft picks because they're going to need to get younger, because
- 1:11:55[SPEAKER_01]: look like they've had bad luck as far as injury goes.
- 1:11:58[SPEAKER_01]: No question.
- 1:11:59[SPEAKER_01]: But some of it is when you're an older team, you get hurt.
- 1:12:02[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I just, I've went every team to go for it though.
- 1:12:05[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm bad.
- 1:12:06[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 1:12:07[SPEAKER_02]: I've just like, yeah, don't forget your future.
- 1:12:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care.
- 1:12:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have to sit here and clean it up.
- 1:12:11[SPEAKER_02]: The Patriots by the way, Albert are seven and two and they beat a Falcons 24 to 23.
- 1:12:16[SPEAKER_02]: You're sort of ahead of your time on picking the Patriots, I think.
- 1:12:19[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 1:12:20[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I mean, I, I, I estimated a rabble bump did I think that rabble was going to do this.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_02]: And now we're in a white hot, I think, coach of the erase between rabes and Shane Steiken, but that's going to be an interesting, uh, that's going to be an interesting one.
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_02]: The Falcons, is it repairable at this point?
- 1:12:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the worth three and five, one and three on the road.
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_02]: every week, you kind of get this fantastic outlier performance from one of your offensive stars, but Michael Pentech's through three freaking touchdowns in this game.
- 1:12:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Drake Wyndon was spectacular.
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_01]: Great.
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_01]: Cleaning.
- 1:12:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, caught all of them.
- 1:12:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, like, I don't know.
- 1:13:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like panics, like it still looks to me a little bit like, maybe it's finally, maybe it's like the lefty bias.
- 1:13:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 1:13:08[SPEAKER_01]: But it still looks like everything's a little slow with him, you know?
- 1:13:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I wonder if that's gonna correct itself, you know what I mean?
- 1:13:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like, but I think the encouraging thing to the Falcons take out is that your defense
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_01]: like continues like you get two sacks from jail and walk or one of them was like a outrageous strip sack um you know pierces in that mix like Jesse Bates has a pick like it's starting like that defense if they can continue if they can improve on offense like the defense is played pretty well and you know i think Jeff all works done a really nice job there
- 1:13:47[SPEAKER_01]: And so like their game this week in Berlin, I think, right?
- 1:13:52[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't this Berlin this week, right?
- 1:13:54[SPEAKER_01]: We got to stop with this stuff.
- 1:13:56[SPEAKER_01]: I guess Berlin.
- 1:13:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:13:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's like November.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to get my, you know, trying to get ready for Thanksgiving and put it my Christmas decorations.
- 1:14:05[SPEAKER_02]: And we're like, these still games are still going on at Goddamn 930 in the morning and God knows what country.
- 1:14:10[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they don't even want this place.
- 1:14:16[SPEAKER_01]: because that's the way the NFL operates in a fell international on Britbox yeah so
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, why don't we do like, I mean, like, honestly, like, I think that that this cult game becomes a huge one for them because six losses is tough to dig from out out from underneath above.
- 1:14:34[SPEAKER_01]: And at that point, you're you're certainly out of, you know, the Ryan to catch the box and the division, and it's going to be tough in the NFC to make the playoffs for the last 10 ones, I think this year.
- 1:14:45[SPEAKER_01]: So this is a critical game for the Falcons at the Indianapolis cults, but in Berlin.
- 1:14:53[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I mean for the Colts, but we're right, but don't they have like a, don't they have a German person on their team who the Colts, well, they had Bjorn Werner way back in the day Bernardo and Austrian Bernardo, yeah, he's an Austrian just like me.
- 1:15:10[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so a little bit of a little bit of home flavor there for uh, like my mom is, but he's he's Austrian.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, be in a home of the sausages.
- 1:15:22[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, 27 to 20, the charges over the Titans, uh, what is your, give me your, uh, give me your thought on this one, and we'll close with Packers Panthers.
- 1:15:30[SPEAKER_01]: My thought is like the charges might be cugs because they was Joe all and like I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
- 1:15:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like I, I have a hard time doubting a Jim Harbour team.
- 1:15:41[SPEAKER_01]: They are 6 and 3.
- 1:15:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying they're going to fall off the face of the earth.
- 1:15:45[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, seeing what the steel is able to do against a good cold sign in generating pressure and the way that that group is really coming along.
- 1:15:53[SPEAKER_01]: And the depth that they have a pass rush between what and high Smith.
- 1:15:57[SPEAKER_01]: and her big and now Jack Swyer coming on, I, like, that looks like it's Hoffnatch up for them, you know, it this to me is like, it's like they're with the lions, right?
- 1:16:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, like the lions, like if you, so much the personality was built around their offensive mind that when they, and we made this analogy, I think a couple of weeks ago with the old school giant teams, right?
- 1:16:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like
- 1:16:23[SPEAKER_01]: If you ever got like Justin taco, see him in New Orleans, Michael Strahan, heard all at once that team of like loses identity.
- 1:16:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, kind of feel like that's where it is with the chargers and alignment.
- 1:16:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 1:16:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like they've just built so much that identity behind that offensive line that if you don't have all now long term.
- 1:16:42[SPEAKER_01]: And, and, and we're starting to slay it or you sort of kick the personality out from underneath that team and it's just a tough place to be, you know, which sucks because I think Joe all is another one, like if there's an offensive lineman who could win MVP this year, it would probably have been Joe all.
- 1:17:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, that's, that's a disappointing one and sometimes.
- 1:17:08[SPEAKER_02]: They're just injuries that just literally sap the life out of the out of a season and out of a team and the accumulation of that, I don't think the chargers will ever get the credit they did for winning as many games as they have with So there's a lot of respect to like you just back in a look great against the Vikings and here we go and now it's like what?
- 1:17:28[SPEAKER_01]: 17 days later, and we're not 17 less than that, like 10 days later, and you know, and now the Lucy's going to football away again, you know, she's not great.
- 1:17:40[SPEAKER_02]: Still six and three, which is bonkers, and we finished with the Packers and the Panthers.
- 1:17:45[SPEAKER_02]: Panthers five and four, man.
- 1:17:47[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:17:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, really, I don't know because it's like, like, in their losses, they've looked like the worst
- 1:17:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 1:17:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, like when they lose they lose bad and like then I mean they look like a JV team against Buffalo the Patriots not the crap out of them.
- 1:18:05[SPEAKER_01]: They're open or against Jacksonville wasn't very competitive but they're five and four which is just it's I think the Falcons were like the ultimate check on high team but the Panthers are close you know so they have a chance now
- 1:18:24[SPEAKER_01]: Then they're out at Atlanta.
- 1:18:26[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, you're talking about them getting to seven and four going to San Francisco on Monday, I took all red before Thanksgiving.
- 1:18:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:18:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if they can, I mean, again, like the falcons is no way out, but they didn't beat the falcons though, even nothing.
- 1:18:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know.
- 1:18:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's so funny because the weird team, the reco-dattle thing is like a fan thing that becomes a reality.
- 1:18:50[SPEAKER_02]: So like it's like in the Eagles fans always said, why are you throwing the ball to AJ Brown and then the Eagles throw it to AJ Brown and everything appears fixed and then reco-dattle is two good games and then you start a back share and then they're like, well, why aren't you just
- 1:19:02[SPEAKER_02]: just letting Rico Dattle cook and then, you know, the coaching staff's like, all right, God damn it here.
- 1:19:07[SPEAKER_02]: And then Rico Dattle just continues to blow everybody's mind and have like the best renaissance season for running back in, in, in, I don't know, recent history, but he's fantastic.
- 1:19:18[SPEAKER_02]: He's in a 130-yard rushing game again.
- 1:19:20[SPEAKER_02]: What do we do it here?
- 1:19:21[SPEAKER_02]: Do other two touchdowns?
- 1:19:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is wild.
- 1:19:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's like, you know, if there's also like the, again, you want to type out identity and what they're trying to build there.
- 1:19:29[SPEAKER_01]: I know that was one thing that they were really excited about.
- 1:19:32[SPEAKER_01]: Going into the season was that they felt like they really found like their type of guys.
- 1:19:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you and I talked about that like, even like drafts and guys like mix sport and you know what I mean?
- 1:19:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like they want to kind of like a hard edge team.
- 1:19:43[SPEAKER_01]: And this was going to be very much like a peak carol like team that Dave Canalis was trying to build and that's why I think like guys like doubt or like that's sort of proof of concept for them, you know, so to be able to win when in Green Bay and to do it, you know, with Rico Dallow going for 130 yards I think is is huge as far as like your program building aspect of it.
- 1:20:07[SPEAKER_01]: I will say to, I am heartbroken that we don't get to watch Tucker Crafts any more of this years.
- 1:20:13[SPEAKER_02]: I know that was another one where next to Brock Bowers probably just the, just the most incredible, yeah, individual display from anyone this season, yeah.
- 1:20:26[SPEAKER_02]: Are you worried about the packers?
- 1:20:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, so they're five and five two and one.
- 1:20:30[SPEAKER_02]: There are no other track on high, they'll want it to.
- 1:20:33[SPEAKER_02]: Two and one are like, you lost to the Browns, you lost to the Panthers, and you tied the Cowboys.
- 1:20:39[SPEAKER_02]: And sometimes you're just like, okay, what's happening here?
- 1:20:45[SPEAKER_02]: Why do I all of a sudden get fooled into wondering what's going on with this team?
- 1:20:51[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:20:51[SPEAKER_02]: Where are you at with Green Bay?
- 1:20:53[SPEAKER_01]: they're not consistent enough right now.
- 1:20:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's the issue is like, are we consistent with going to see, like, because I think they've got the talent.
- 1:21:02[SPEAKER_01]: And they're in a spot now where they've got the talent to become overwhelming and like losing craft definitely takes a chunk out of that right like so that's a really tough one because I think he was becoming like When you're sitting down on Tuesday as a defensive coach and you're mapping out how you play the packers like to me you are circling Tucker craft is like this is a guy we have to we gotta take care of first And like when you take a guy like that out of the equation it changes the math
- 1:21:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know, as I think can affect you in a lot of different ways to affect you, the running game can affect you in the way that they cover you in the passing game.
- 1:21:37[SPEAKER_01]: So that definitely takes a chunk out of you.
- 1:21:39[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see what Luke must say.
- 1:21:41[SPEAKER_01]: Who is also very talented can do and is stead.
- 1:21:46[SPEAKER_01]: I still think that the packer's ceiling is sky high.
- 1:21:49[SPEAKER_01]: There's just another one of these teams where you don't know what you're going to get going in this Sunday, you know?
- 1:21:53[SPEAKER_02]: You know what sneaky is consequential now?
- 1:21:56[SPEAKER_02]: And the exact price going once.
- 1:21:59[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I have to stop because I think this about Mike Parsons and the packer's defense every week and I've said it about the giant's defense every week and for some reason the teams that are kind of having these
- 1:22:09[SPEAKER_02]: great outlier players are just struggling to generate a consistent pass rush.
- 1:22:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what it is.
- 1:22:16[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I was concerned there's be off, but they had two quarter vacants on Bryce.
- 1:22:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just say not good enough.
- 1:22:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I mean, that's that's absolutely ridiculous.
- 1:22:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, though, I was sneaky consequential at this point is the fact that the Broncos signed Mercedes Lewis.
- 1:22:33[SPEAKER_02]: Because now, right, because that was always our adversary that yeah, that was always Packers tied into.
- 1:22:41[SPEAKER_02]: Remember, I mean, through all of Matt LaFlor's big games and with at least with craft going down, you could have moved him in the tight end to and bumped over and at least kind of survived in that way, but it's not like these.
- 1:22:54[SPEAKER_02]: Titans just grow on trees and they're just available for you.
- 1:22:58[SPEAKER_02]: And so I'm, I don't know, they got to make some sort of a depth maneuver at that position because Matt LaFlor depends too much on different formations.
- 1:23:08[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, using the Titans in different ways.
- 1:23:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, maybe you go get a, oh, who did I love?
- 1:23:15[SPEAKER_02]: I had moving over it.
- 1:23:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like maybe you get an in joke, who would you ask about him?
- 1:23:19[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:23:20[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, is that too short term of a decision?
- 1:23:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:23:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, it might be just because you do have like, you know, again, like it's not like you're not going to get a craft bag next year and you have must grateful you wanted to develop.
- 1:23:31[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know.
- 1:23:32[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see.
- 1:23:33[SPEAKER_02]: As always, Albert now will be back on Wednesday slash Thursday.
- 1:23:37[SPEAKER_02]: Go in into the big.
- 1:23:38[SPEAKER_02]: We wrap it up the trade deadline, which I'm sure will be super exciting.
- 1:23:41[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we got a deal of folks going to do it, right?
- 1:23:44[SPEAKER_01]: I put about 100 names out there.
- 1:23:45[SPEAKER_01]: I like the jail and film is trade.
- 1:23:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think it makes sense for everybody involved.
- 1:23:50[SPEAKER_02]: I do too.
- 1:23:50[SPEAKER_02]: I wish it was Bradley Jubs, so I could do my Vince McMahon walk and say that I called it, but
- 1:23:56[SPEAKER_02]: You know, both of us, yeah, you're part of the crowd for that.
- 1:24:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I get like a point five on that one.
- 1:24:03[SPEAKER_02]: But yes, we will come back, wrap up the trade deadline.
- 1:24:05[SPEAKER_02]: We'll preview next week.
- 1:24:07[SPEAKER_02]: And then we got teacher convention.
- 1:24:09[SPEAKER_02]: We care in New Jersey, baby.
- 1:24:10[SPEAKER_01]: So it's, we're kind of doing a weird random day off tomorrow, which I don't remember having as many heat days off as they do.
- 1:24:17[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember having, yeah, nearly that.
- 1:24:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think it might be like a professional development day life.
- 1:24:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, we won't do I get my professional development day.
- 1:24:27[SPEAKER_02]: That's right, man.
- 1:24:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's just overnight grinding tape.
- 1:24:30[SPEAKER_02]: That's all we have.
