- 0:04Speaker 1: NFL Power Rankings is a production of the NFL in
- 0:07Speaker 1: partnership with iHeartRadio.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Welcome to a brand new edition of NFL Power Rankings.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Mike m. Eric at home with you, and as.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Always, every single week, we take you through the top
- 0:16Speaker 3: teams in the NFL. For a complete list of all
- 0:19Speaker 3: thirty two teams and where they sit according to Eric,
- 0:21Speaker 3: all you have to do is check out the article
- 0:23Speaker 3: on NFL dot com.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Before Eric, we get to the top teams.
- 0:27Speaker 3: I do think it's worth repeating here because if you
- 0:29Speaker 3: haven't heard, Tyreek Hill goes down with the dislocated knee
- 0:32Speaker 3: on Monday Night Football. They get the win, and that's
- 0:34Speaker 3: the positive from a Dolphins perspective, but they lose the
- 0:37Speaker 3: best wide receiver on their team for the entire year.
- 0:40Speaker 3: How different is this offense going to look without the Cheetah?
- 0:43Speaker 4: Yeah? I guess it's good that Darren Waller had the
- 0:45Speaker 4: game he did in his return to the NFL two
- 0:48Speaker 4: touchdowns and the on sites kick return to help kind
- 0:50Speaker 4: of seal it there, But losing Tyreek Hill completely changes
- 0:54Speaker 4: this team. We have Molak neighbors go down in New
- 0:56Speaker 4: York too, So every week it seems like there's been
- 0:58Speaker 4: a new position that's been attacked, and wide receiver certainly
- 1:01Speaker 4: is one. So Miami's gotta find some solutions, jal Wadle,
- 1:05Speaker 4: somebody else. It's got to come from within.
- 1:07Speaker 3: I think we will find out exactly where the Miami
- 1:09Speaker 3: Dolphins rank on your list.
- 1:11Speaker 2: But let's get to the top teams right now in
- 1:13Speaker 2: the league.
- 1:13Speaker 3: And at number one with no drama at all, four
- 1:17Speaker 3: and O the Philadelphia Eagles, the Buffalo Bills right behind them,
- 1:20Speaker 3: followed by be the line, so no change in that
- 1:22Speaker 3: top three. A nice move here from the Rams, who
- 1:25Speaker 3: we'll talk about in just a moment, moving up six
- 1:27Speaker 3: spots into the fourth position. Seattle, let's go moving up
- 1:30Speaker 3: eight spots. The Packers hold firm at six with.
- 1:33Speaker 2: A tie on Sunday Night Football.
- 1:35Speaker 3: It's still weird to see two to one and one
- 1:37Speaker 3: as a record for them against the Dallas Cowboys. That
- 1:40Speaker 3: was entertaining until we didn't get closure on a winner.
- 1:42Speaker 3: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers dropped two spots to seven, and
- 1:45Speaker 3: then we got the Chargers falling four spots into that
- 1:48Speaker 3: eighth position. All right, I think there's a lot of
- 1:51Speaker 3: teams that would love to have this type of drama
- 1:53Speaker 3: be four and Zho coming off of a Super Bowl appearance.
- 1:57Speaker 3: What am I supposed to make of these conversations with
- 1:59Speaker 3: this offense and AJ Brown being upset and Jalen Hurts
- 2:03Speaker 3: in some of these numbers in the first half versus
- 2:05Speaker 3: the second half, they're still undefeated.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Yeah, And you know, we had a lot of conversations
- 2:09Speaker 4: like this about the Kansas City Chiefs last year, right,
- 2:11Speaker 4: all the close wins, all the close shaves that they had,
- 2:14Speaker 4: but they had this sort of late game grit. Now
- 2:16Speaker 4: I understand the Eagles didn't play all that well in
- 2:18Speaker 4: the second half of this game, didn't play well in
- 2:21Speaker 4: the first half against the Rams. They've had this sort
- 2:23Speaker 4: of bad habit of I don't want to say falling asleep,
- 2:25Speaker 4: but you know, going into snooze mode if you will. Offensively,
- 2:29Speaker 4: and you know, Jalen Hurts is still capable of making plays.
- 2:31Speaker 4: We've seen more design runs, there were these little clever
- 2:34Speaker 4: pitch plays. There was the fake Tush push. So they
- 2:37Speaker 4: added more to this offense this week, but it just
- 2:40Speaker 4: wasn't connecting consistently. They really haven't had a great sixty
- 2:44Speaker 4: minute game yet. But with the defense playing as well,
- 2:47Speaker 4: it is special teams as well. You know, the offense
- 2:51Speaker 4: still getting good field positions, still making you know, a
- 2:54Speaker 4: high point total. So right now it's good enough. Will
- 2:57Speaker 4: it be good enough in October, November, December, we shall see.
- 3:00Speaker 3: If if the Bills were dominant and they got tested
- 3:03Speaker 3: against the seats, if they were dominant, would you have
- 3:05Speaker 3: slid them into the top spot.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I considered it too with Detroit, you know, I
- 3:09Speaker 4: mean Buffalo and Detroit, two teams that I thought about
- 3:12Speaker 4: moving up into that top spot right now, the top quartile,
- 3:15Speaker 4: the first eight teams. You can make an argument for
- 3:18Speaker 4: a lot of different orders, other teams that I didn't
- 3:20Speaker 4: even include in this list. So it's been hard to
- 3:22Speaker 4: solidify the kind of the upper class right now.
- 3:25Speaker 3: The Rams I think are in that mix, and I'm
- 3:27Speaker 3: glad you moved them up as far as you did.
- 3:28Speaker 2: They sit fourth in the rankings.
- 3:29Speaker 3: They move up six spots, and I know a couple
- 3:31Speaker 3: weeks ago they lost to this Philadelphia team in Philadelphia.
- 3:34Speaker 2: But I'm a believer in the Colts.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Maybe I'm in the minority, I'm not exactly sure, but
- 3:39Speaker 3: I think the Cults are a really good football team,
- 3:41Speaker 3: and they got tested there make the case for the
- 3:44Speaker 3: Rams and justify this fourth position for them.
- 3:46Speaker 4: I'm with you. I think the Cults are a legitimate opponent.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Granted they did shoot themselves in the foot, but and
- 3:50Speaker 4: the Rams took advantage of it, right, I mean, I
- 3:52Speaker 4: think they're an opportunistic football team. If Matthew Stafford stays healthy,
- 3:57Speaker 4: they have a chance. The run game been a little
- 3:59Speaker 4: hit or miss, but those two explosive receivers that in
- 4:02Speaker 4: the pass rush makes for an next combination. If they
- 4:05Speaker 4: can solidify the special teams, I think they'll have a
- 4:08Speaker 4: you know, a squad that's very dangerous to face. So,
- 4:11Speaker 4: you know, you think about kind of how they've they've
- 4:13Speaker 4: gotten to this point. It's really a loss at Philly.
- 4:16Speaker 4: They had a chance to win that game at the
- 4:18Speaker 4: very end. That's the only thing keeping them from four
- 4:20Speaker 4: to zero right now. So when you step back, you
- 4:22Speaker 4: kind of look at their resume. Yes, some close shade wins,
- 4:25Speaker 4: but still coming against some better teams. I think the
- 4:28Speaker 4: Texans will be will end up looking like a better
- 4:30Speaker 4: win in Week one and you know, just across the board,
- 4:33Speaker 4: and they don't have any glaring weaknesses in my opinion.
- 4:36Speaker 4: But the question is are they gonna stay healthy. Are
- 4:38Speaker 4: they gonna stay viable for the whole season? Just think
- 4:40Speaker 4: about how much better they look now, though then it
- 4:43Speaker 4: starts the last two seasons one and four, three and six.
- 4:46Speaker 4: That's that's been a huge improvement right there.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Yeah, well look at it because they've been healthy these
- 4:50Speaker 3: last couple of years. You think about the starts of
- 4:51Speaker 3: their seasons and revolving doors on their offensive line, star
- 4:54Speaker 3: players going down. I just think if you're a Rams fan,
- 4:57Speaker 3: you absolutely have to love the fact that Matthew Stafford
- 5:00Speaker 3: looks healthy, because there was some real concern with that
- 5:03Speaker 3: back injury heading into a week nowe one in the preseason,
- 5:05Speaker 3: not really seeing them out there, So definitely a positive sign. Eric,
- 5:08Speaker 3: you had the Rams moving up six spots, but they
- 5:10Speaker 3: weren't the biggest mover of the week. The Seahawks they
- 5:13Speaker 3: move up eight spots. That is a significant move. How
- 5:17Speaker 3: bullish are you on this team?
- 5:19Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 5:19Speaker 4: I think there's a lot of that too it, Mike.
- 5:21Speaker 4: I mean, like I said earlier, it's been a little
- 5:23Speaker 4: bit tough to determine who are the best eight teams,
- 5:25Speaker 4: who are the real cream of the crop. But as
- 5:28Speaker 4: I kept looking more and more at Seattle, I thought,
- 5:30Speaker 4: boy close loss in Week one, have made strides since then,
- 5:34Speaker 4: have a big road at a road win at Pittsburgh,
- 5:37Speaker 4: short week road win at Arizona even if they had
- 5:39Speaker 4: to hang on. So a lot of good things. And
- 5:42Speaker 4: I guess I didn't know what to expect out of
- 5:45Speaker 4: Sam Darnold coming into the season. I guess I didn't
- 5:48Speaker 4: know whether Jackson Smith and Jigbo would be that wide
- 5:50Speaker 4: receiver one without DK there so far those have been answered.
- 5:54Speaker 4: I think both guys have played excellent. The defense has
- 5:57Speaker 4: made some strides. The run game can put teams away.
- 6:00Speaker 4: They have that two headed monster O Lion is kind
- 6:02Speaker 4: of hell firm for now. Just more big plays defensively
- 6:06Speaker 4: the last three games too, So I love the progress
- 6:09Speaker 4: they've made. It look like a more surefooted team. Some
- 6:12Speaker 4: doubt maybe are they truly that elite level contender. I
- 6:15Speaker 4: don't know yet, but again, their resume looks pretty good
- 6:17Speaker 4: and they're right up there with the Rams as one
- 6:19Speaker 4: of the NFC West heavyweights, I.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Think, and an opportunity to really solidify themselves and justify
- 6:24Speaker 3: this ranking with Tampa Bay that's looming, and quite frankly,
- 6:28Speaker 3: eric they win that football game I think there's more
- 6:30Speaker 3: people who watch the show, listen to this podcast who
- 6:32Speaker 3: will say, oh, okay, this makes sense. I feel like
- 6:36Speaker 3: I jinx the Green Bay Packers. Coming off of Week two.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I'm doing shows, you.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Know, on the NFL channel and hanging out with you, Eric,
- 6:42Speaker 3: and I'm like, Yo, green Bay's got the best resume
- 6:44Speaker 3: in the NFL. They I was buying it. I'm like, Hey,
- 6:47Speaker 3: they're going to be a super Bowl team. Then they lose,
- 6:49Speaker 3: and then they come up with a tie. How am
- 6:51Speaker 3: I supposed to view this squad based off of the
- 6:54Speaker 3: highs and some of the lows to the first few
- 6:56Speaker 3: weeks of the season.
- 6:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the team that looked like it was
- 6:59Speaker 4: going to race out to a two touchdown lead all
- 7:01Speaker 4: of a sudden had an extra point block that's a
- 7:03Speaker 4: three point swing, started giving ground defensively, and we started
- 7:06Speaker 4: asking ourselves, is this the same defensive group that we
- 7:10Speaker 4: saw in the first three weeks of the season. Even
- 7:12Speaker 4: as good as Dak Prescott is, and he was fantastic
- 7:14Speaker 4: Sunday night, but still this defense kind of held itself
- 7:17Speaker 4: to a higher standard, had kind of raised the bar,
- 7:20Speaker 4: if you will, with their performance the first three weeks
- 7:22Speaker 4: of the season, and it dropped. There's no question about it.
- 7:25Speaker 4: I mean with that one game, all of a sudden,
- 7:27Speaker 4: we're kind of left to question, Hey, what happens when
- 7:30Speaker 4: they slow down the pass rush? Is that secondary going
- 7:33Speaker 4: to be able to hold up? Look, Jordan Love is
- 7:35Speaker 4: going to have a couple of quirky plays per game.
- 7:38Speaker 4: You sort of baked that into the expectations. He's been
- 7:40Speaker 4: more good than bad. You know. Josh Jacobs sort of
- 7:43Speaker 4: cured some of their run game issues Sunday night, even
- 7:46Speaker 4: if it did come against the Cowboys. But special teams
- 7:49Speaker 4: remain a problem. That offensive line has injuries. Thankfully they're
- 7:53Speaker 4: at the by and they can kind of sort some
- 7:55Speaker 4: of those things out. But all of a sudden two
- 7:57Speaker 4: one and one, I think we're we're questioning their credentials
- 8:00Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Yeah we are.
- 8:01Speaker 3: You know who are not questioning right now? Jackson Dark
- 8:03Speaker 3: and the GMA. How about the Giants.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Let's go I.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Told you last week on the show, he's gonna he's
- 8:08Speaker 3: gonna invigorate this team.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I will say this, I didn't see this coming.
- 8:12Speaker 3: And what I mean by that is I didn't see
- 8:14Speaker 3: them beating the Chargers and really dominating most of that game.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I'm almost willing.
- 8:19Speaker 3: To give La the past here. We knew about Slater
- 8:22Speaker 3: before the season started, gets some mega contract, he's not
- 8:24Speaker 3: on that offensive line. Joel Alt gets hurt, Justin Herbert
- 8:27Speaker 3: some uncharacteristic interceptions. This dude doesn't really make mistakes. I
- 8:30Speaker 3: thank you and I on this show, we're talking about
- 8:32Speaker 3: him as like an early MVP candidate. Are you with me, like,
- 8:35Speaker 3: just say, hey, like a blip on the radar. Let's
- 8:37Speaker 3: not panic right now. They didn't have Najee Harris. I
- 8:39Speaker 3: think Amri and Hampton looked pretty good. Or are you
- 8:42Speaker 3: legitimately concerned about this offensive line creating more problems, you know,
- 8:46Speaker 3: than solutions over the next few weeks.
- 8:48Speaker 4: Yeah. One of the good things that came out of
- 8:49Speaker 4: that game, one of the very few, let's make that clearer,
- 8:52Speaker 4: was Omari and Hampton. I think him breaking out and
- 8:54Speaker 4: you know, putting that fumble a couple of weeks ago,
- 8:56Speaker 4: way behind him. Here. Each week he seems a little
- 8:58Speaker 4: bit more comfortable. That's a good thing. It's important that
- 9:01Speaker 4: he has a role. But losing Slater first in the
- 9:03Speaker 4: preseason and losing all both your tackles, both high paid
- 9:07Speaker 4: guys both expected to be huge parts of their equation.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Really kind of having those two made them think maybe
- 9:13Speaker 4: we don't need to add as much in the offseason
- 9:15Speaker 4: to that group. Becton, you know, if they had all
- 9:18Speaker 4: those guys together healthy, they might have one of the
- 9:21Speaker 4: better offensive lines in the league. Now arguably one of
- 9:24Speaker 4: the worst. So how are they going to find solutions
- 9:26Speaker 4: to keeping Herbert upright protecting him? He's already sped things up,
- 9:30Speaker 4: He's already done so much with so so passed protection.
- 9:34Speaker 4: What's a good you know, what's gonna happen? The way
- 9:36Speaker 4: we saw in that second half, the Giants just mauled
- 9:38Speaker 4: and Austin Deculus had his hands full. I don't know
- 9:41Speaker 4: if there's a solution on the roster right now to
- 9:43Speaker 4: help out.
- 9:44Speaker 3: I will say this Giants defense, and I know this
- 9:46Speaker 3: team has struggled this season. I mean, I just love
- 9:48Speaker 3: seeing the emotion with Jackson Dard and Brian Dabell, But
- 9:50Speaker 3: this defense is actually pretty good. So for as much
- 9:53Speaker 3: as people want to say, like, oh, they should have
- 9:54Speaker 3: lost this game, you have the injuries on this offensive line.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I think that's a problem.
- 9:58Speaker 3: The one positive and there's more than one, but one
- 10:00Speaker 3: of the positives is the Chargers have one of the
- 10:02Speaker 3: best wide receiver rooms and one of the best quarterback
- 10:04Speaker 3: in the NFL. So I think that there's a credit Harbaugh.
- 10:08Speaker 3: I believe in him, trust him. I think he'll be
- 10:10Speaker 3: able to figure it out. But they do drop four
- 10:13Speaker 3: spots in these rankings. There's another team that candidly like
- 10:17Speaker 3: I actually thought we'd be talking a whole lot more
- 10:19Speaker 3: about them, and it's been mostly negative. But I'll tell
- 10:21Speaker 3: you what I think they're really on. The men's Xavier
- 10:24Speaker 3: Worthy looked terrific. We'll examine the Chiefs and talk about
- 10:27Speaker 3: some struggles and the Ravens. That's coming up next on
- 10:30Speaker 3: NFL Power Rankings. Back here on Power Rankings, Mike ham
- 10:38Speaker 3: along with Eric ed Holm, and you can take a
- 10:40Speaker 3: closer look.
- 10:41Speaker 2: At Eric's rankings. Teams nine through sixteen don't look now.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Kansas City Chiefs look like they are back, moving up
- 10:47Speaker 3: two spots to number nine. The Colts with that loss
- 10:49Speaker 3: that Coose loss to the Rams drop a spot into
- 10:52Speaker 3: that tenth position. The Commanders they cannot wait to get
- 10:55Speaker 3: Jayden Daniels back into the line up. At eleven, the
- 10:57Speaker 3: Broncos look good, move up two spots on Monday Night football.
- 11:00Speaker 3: With a win against Cincinnati, they're in the twelfth spot.
- 11:03Speaker 3: The Jags at their team, the Steel at fourteen. We'll
- 11:05Speaker 3: talk about both those teams.
- 11:06Speaker 2: At fifteen.
- 11:07Speaker 3: It is the Niners who dropped three spots. Even had
- 11:10Speaker 3: Rock Purty back in the line, I couldn't figure out
- 11:12Speaker 3: a way to get it done. And the free fall
- 11:14Speaker 3: for the Ravens continues. One in three they dropped nine spots.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Eric I was looking at some of.
- 11:21Speaker 3: The AFC West odds to go and win that division.
- 11:24Speaker 3: The Chargers, despite that loss, are still in the driver
- 11:26Speaker 3: See Kansas City got a win and they're still behind
- 11:29Speaker 3: in terms of the odds from Los Angeles. Then it's
- 11:32Speaker 3: Denver and the Raiders in that order. But let's focus
- 11:35Speaker 3: in on this Kansas City Chiefs team. Xavier Worthy, if
- 11:38Speaker 3: you would have said to me, like, hey, one guy
- 11:39Speaker 3: makes a difference in this offense, of course, I think
- 11:41Speaker 3: we all think about Patrick Mahomes in one to five.
- 11:43Speaker 3: But how much better did they look with a healthy
- 11:45Speaker 3: wide receiver out there?
- 11:46Speaker 4: Yeah, it wasn't hard to see the difference. I'm sure
- 11:49Speaker 4: anyone who's been watching the Chiefs for a while now,
- 11:52Speaker 4: and certainly the beginning of the season. Just seeing him
- 11:55Speaker 4: right away, the big play returning to the offense average
- 11:58Speaker 4: seventeen plus points per touch, you know, thirty seven yard catch,
- 12:02Speaker 4: thirty five yard run, twenty eight yard catch all the
- 12:04Speaker 4: first thirty plus minutes of the game. That was the
- 12:07Speaker 4: big difference right there. I've always said, when Patrick trusts
- 12:10Speaker 4: his receivers, his targets, and his offensive line, this is
- 12:14Speaker 4: a good offense. Right. We'll see if they're back to
- 12:17Speaker 4: being that super Bowl type contender, but I think they
- 12:19Speaker 4: have to feel a ton better about themselves with a
- 12:21Speaker 4: dominant victory over Baltimore with these developments happening. So yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 4: it just makes the home so much more dangerous. It
- 12:29Speaker 4: takes a little office play as far as the scrambling
- 12:31Speaker 4: is concerned. So it's fun to see them with mostly
- 12:35Speaker 4: full compliment. Don't forget they still get Rashi Rice at
- 12:37Speaker 4: some point this season, so you know, with him and
- 12:40Speaker 4: Jalen Royals eventually too, when he's got his full arsenal weapons,
- 12:44Speaker 4: I think the Chiefs are gonna absolutely be one of
- 12:46Speaker 4: those teams you can't look past them at all. I Mean,
- 12:48Speaker 4: we were ready to bury him, but they're still coming.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Eric This is the first time this season I've watched
- 12:53Speaker 3: this team and they look like A they were having
- 12:55Speaker 3: fun and B they looked confident, and they were confident
- 12:59Speaker 3: against the Ravens team that's had a lot of injuries.
- 13:01Speaker 3: We'll talk about them in just a moment, but I
- 13:03Speaker 3: don't think it matters. Team goes Hey, Lamar Jackson still
- 13:06Speaker 3: on that side of the field. They still got some
- 13:08Speaker 3: other guys and they handled them. So I think this
- 13:10Speaker 3: is a big spot for Kansas City. To get Jacksonville
- 13:13Speaker 3: on the road Monday night football, that's also a big
- 13:15Speaker 3: spot for them. All right, Let's move on to the Colts,
- 13:17Speaker 3: who sitt number ten on your rankings. Danny Dimes got
- 13:21Speaker 3: a couple interceptions, looking a little human because that hadn't
- 13:23Speaker 3: been the case to the first couple of weeks of
- 13:25Speaker 3: the season. They're like, literally like a dropped touchdown from
- 13:28Speaker 3: Edi Mitchell away from maybe having a different result against
- 13:31Speaker 3: the Rams.
- 13:32Speaker 2: There's a part of me, and I said this earlier when.
- 13:34Speaker 3: We talked about Los Angeles, I think this Colts team
- 13:36Speaker 3: is really legit, and you still having this top ten team,
- 13:40Speaker 3: you must feel the same way I do.
- 13:42Speaker 4: I watched that game closely on Sunday Live watch parts
- 13:44Speaker 4: of it again later and I said, look, you know,
- 13:46Speaker 4: if if Ady Mitchell doesn't you, you know, kindly said,
- 13:50Speaker 4: drop right, cough it up, whatever you want to say,
- 13:53Speaker 4: just shy the end zone out of the back. I mean,
- 13:54Speaker 4: that's a turnover that's missing seven points right there. And
- 13:58Speaker 4: then a holding call also on Jonathan Taylor's fifty three
- 14:00Speaker 4: our touchdown return in the fourth quarter. You know, couldn't
- 14:03Speaker 4: have two more disastrous for a single player. Obviously he
- 14:07Speaker 4: becomes the go but the Colts really did do what
- 14:09Speaker 4: they hadn't done the first three games of the season,
- 14:12Speaker 4: and that shoot themselves in the foot these costly penalties
- 14:14Speaker 4: and mistakes that really hurt them because at the beginning
- 14:17Speaker 4: of the game and through different stretches throughout, they actually
- 14:20Speaker 4: look like, if not the equal team, so maybe even
- 14:22Speaker 4: the better one than the Rams at times. So I'm
- 14:24Speaker 4: with you. I think they're a legitimate team. I don't
- 14:26Speaker 4: think they're going to have games where Ady Mitchell or
- 14:29Speaker 4: one other player has this many terrible mistakes all at once.
- 14:33Speaker 4: But they've got to make sure they clean it up.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Their margin for air I don't think is quite as
- 14:38Speaker 4: big as some of the other contenders, but how efficient
- 14:41Speaker 4: they've been offensively this season, I don't think we can
- 14:43Speaker 4: look past them.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yeah, they got the Raiders next up, and once again
- 14:46Speaker 3: you only drop them one spot. I could tell there's
- 14:48Speaker 3: a lot of respect that you have for that ball club.
- 14:50Speaker 3: The Jags move up four spots. At what point do
- 14:53Speaker 3: we say, oh, okay, Like, hey, maybe this is the
- 14:55Speaker 3: year that we thought we would get a couple of
- 14:57Speaker 3: years ago from this team, Like this looks pretty legit,
- 15:00Speaker 3: especially on the defensive side.
- 15:02Speaker 4: That's thirteen turnovers they forced this year. My let me
- 15:05Speaker 4: here's a little crazy stats. That's more than three teams
- 15:08Speaker 4: had all of last season. In one of those three teams,
- 15:11Speaker 4: the Jacksonville Jaguars, they had nine turnovers all of last year,
- 15:14Speaker 4: forced thirteen through three or through four games, excuse me,
- 15:17Speaker 4: three of them at least three in every single game.
- 15:20Speaker 4: That'll win you football games right there. Even if Trevor
- 15:23Speaker 4: Lawrence and Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas and those guys
- 15:26Speaker 4: are still kind of developing chemistry, even if the offense
- 15:29Speaker 4: has been a little bit hit or miss, you go
- 15:31Speaker 4: plus four in the turnover department against San Francisco and
- 15:34Speaker 4: you get a punt return touchdown. That's a game you
- 15:36Speaker 4: need to win, even with a missfield goal and some
- 15:39Speaker 4: other stuff they left out on the field. So look
- 15:41Speaker 4: the offensive formula. You know, Liam Cohene was brought in
- 15:44Speaker 4: to kind of fix this thing, get the big place coming.
- 15:47Speaker 4: We've seen Travis etn We've seen some moments where it
- 15:49Speaker 4: looks promising, but it really has been about the defense
- 15:52Speaker 4: and in most cases the special teams that have done
- 15:55Speaker 4: the heavy lifting. So you know, they haven't even theoretically
- 15:58Speaker 4: hit anything close to their offensive peak yet, and they're
- 16:01Speaker 4: vastly outperforming what they did defensively a year ago. So
- 16:04Speaker 4: I'm intrigued. You know, consider me fascinating where this team
- 16:07Speaker 4: could end up because you know, there's still so much
- 16:10Speaker 4: room to grow, and we'll see if they can kind
- 16:12Speaker 4: of threaten the Colts in that division and maybe even
- 16:14Speaker 4: make a playoff push.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I think one of those last points is a
- 16:18Speaker 3: legit one. They haven't even hit the ceiling right now
- 16:20Speaker 3: on the offensive side. Bucky Brooks, one of our colleagues
- 16:22Speaker 3: and NFL Media, actually works on that broadcast team for
- 16:25Speaker 3: the Jags.
- 16:26Speaker 2: I remember talking to him a week ago about this.
- 16:28Speaker 3: He's like, hey, Brian Thomas doesn't even look like the
- 16:30Speaker 3: duty was last year, Like there's another gear for this
- 16:32Speaker 3: offense they haven't utilized. They're just not clicking right now
- 16:36Speaker 3: at full throttle. When that happens, they'll be scary. The Steelers.
- 16:39Speaker 3: They go to Island, they get a win, they move
- 16:41Speaker 3: up a couple spots in your rankings. They sit at fourteenth.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Are they the team to beat in the AFC North?
- 16:46Speaker 4: I have very soft sort of recommendation for that. Right now,
- 16:49Speaker 4: every team in the North is in the negative and
- 16:52Speaker 4: point in perragial, including the Steelers. They're minus two even
- 16:54Speaker 4: though they're three and one, so you know, I don't
- 16:56Speaker 4: want to give them too much credit, but I will
- 16:58Speaker 4: say they've taken care of business the last two games
- 17:02Speaker 4: a Patriots team that hadn't found its identity yet and
- 17:04Speaker 4: now a Vikings team that's struggling offensively. The three wins
- 17:08Speaker 4: they have are against flawed offenses, so I don't want
- 17:10Speaker 4: to put too much stock into what they've done. And
- 17:13Speaker 4: the big home loss of Seattle still kind of looms,
- 17:15Speaker 4: but we've at least seen progress. Aaron Rodgers looks pretty good.
- 17:18Speaker 4: I mean, look, I can't complain with a whole lot
- 17:21Speaker 4: of what he's done. DK Metcalf has been good too.
- 17:23Speaker 4: Kenneth Gainwell stepped in and did a really good job
- 17:26Speaker 4: for Jalen Warren. You know, they're fixing some of these
- 17:28Speaker 4: little issues that kind of plagued them the first few
- 17:31Speaker 4: games of the season. But you know, is it the
- 17:33Speaker 4: most impressive three and one start of all time? No?
- 17:36Speaker 4: And I think you know, some Steelers fans wish they
- 17:38Speaker 4: wouldn't have punted there at the end of the game,
- 17:40Speaker 4: kind of keeping the door open, but doing the job
- 17:42Speaker 4: so far. And again, I think this is a team
- 17:44Speaker 4: that can get theoretically better than what we've seen so far.
- 17:47Speaker 4: So the record helps him out quite a bit.
- 17:49Speaker 3: I think one of the more disappointing teams this season
- 17:52Speaker 3: is inside that division. They dropped nine spots for you,
- 17:55Speaker 3: that's the Baltimore Ravens. By the time the game was
- 17:58Speaker 3: over with the Kansas City Chiefs, seven starters on this
- 18:01Speaker 3: defensive side either we're not playing because they got hurt
- 18:03Speaker 3: in the game or didn't even play in this matchup
- 18:05Speaker 3: because they were banged up. Then Lamar Jackson is out
- 18:08Speaker 3: late in that game because of a hamstring injury.
- 18:10Speaker 2: They get Houston.
- 18:11Speaker 3: What am I supposed to make of a one and
- 18:12Speaker 3: three football team that's got this much attrition.
- 18:15Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really hard to kind of gauge them right now.
- 18:17Speaker 4: We're still kind of waiting to hear what Lamar's status
- 18:20Speaker 4: is and what he's gonna be. Is he going to
- 18:21Speaker 4: miss a game? Would they consider sitting him out? Is
- 18:24Speaker 4: it multiple games and zero? You know that uncertainty looms
- 18:28Speaker 4: over everything because he's the guy that can rescue the
- 18:30Speaker 4: Ravens from a bad game. He hasn't really done that
- 18:33Speaker 4: so far, but he has that capability. He's superhuman in
- 18:37Speaker 4: some regards. But when you have him banged up, not
- 18:41Speaker 4: as effective as a runner so far this season, and
- 18:44Speaker 4: tasked with cleaning up so many mistakes, all the injuries
- 18:47Speaker 4: on defense, how many points and drives they're giving up.
- 18:50Speaker 4: The offense has had problems as well. You know, this
- 18:54Speaker 4: is where the breaking point, you know, the law of
- 18:55Speaker 4: diminishing returns kind of kicks in at this point. So, yeah,
- 18:59Speaker 4: you start thinking about Matta Bik out for the season.
- 19:01Speaker 4: You know, the secondary really being chewed up Rokwan Smith
- 19:04Speaker 4: to you know, that's the heart of the Ravens defense
- 19:08Speaker 4: outside of Kyle Hamilton, and to lose that kind of
- 19:10Speaker 4: backbone that core, if you will. It's just absolutely gutting
- 19:13Speaker 4: right now with some tough games coming up Texans Rams
- 19:15Speaker 4: and hopefully they limp into the by At this point.
- 19:18Speaker 2: They are a one to three football team. Eric, I
- 19:21Speaker 2: gotta talk to a research department.
- 19:22Speaker 3: I got to imagine teams that start one to three
- 19:25Speaker 3: making the postseason like that's probably low single digit.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Percent, pretty low.
- 19:29Speaker 3: So yeah, this is this is gonna be an uphill
- 19:31Speaker 3: battle right now for this Ravens team. They got to
- 19:33Speaker 3: get healthy. Hopefully Lamar does not miss significant time. There's
- 19:37Speaker 3: a reason for smile for me though, because the New
- 19:40Speaker 3: York Giants handle a business getting their first win of
- 19:42Speaker 3: the season. Jackson Dart reinvigorating this ball club. What does
- 19:48Speaker 3: it mean for the g Men in their ranking. We'll
- 19:49Speaker 3: also check in on a division rival and the Cowboys,
- 19:53Speaker 3: who also showed some signs to life on the offensive side.
- 19:55Speaker 5: That's still become on Power rankings. Back here on Power Rankings,
- 20:09Speaker 5: Mike ym and Eric at home with you. Here's Eric's
- 20:11Speaker 5: teams seventeen through twenty four.
- 20:13Speaker 3: The Vikings drop two spots with that loss against the
- 20:15Speaker 3: Steelers in Ireland. Don't look now, Chicago's starting to look
- 20:19Speaker 3: pretty good here Roma Douings and Kayleb Williams.
- 20:21Speaker 2: That connection is looking pretty strong. They move up one.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Spot at nineteen. It's the Cardinals the Falcons. They might
- 20:27Speaker 3: be the biggest enigma in the NFL based off of
- 20:29Speaker 3: what we saw two weeks ago, and then win this
- 20:31Speaker 3: past week.
- 20:32Speaker 2: They move up two spots. The Texans.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Good to see them get into the win column, also
- 20:36Speaker 3: moving up two spots to twenty one.
- 20:37Speaker 2: The Dallas Cowboys a mover, up two spots.
- 20:40Speaker 3: As well at twenty two, the Patriots at twenty three,
- 20:44Speaker 3: and the Cincinnati Bengals, Oh boy, drop four spots down
- 20:47Speaker 3: to twenty four. All right, the Cowboys explain this to me,
- 20:50Speaker 3: are are you a fan of ties?
- 20:52Speaker 2: Oh?
- 20:53Speaker 4: I love ties? Are you kidding me? I like unusual scores,
- 20:55Speaker 4: I like strange games, So yeah, I do, and it
- 20:58Speaker 4: messes everything up right when we get down a tiebreaker season,
- 21:00Speaker 4: This is going to be pretty fun. But who knows
- 21:02Speaker 4: if the Cowboys leaving being playoff canens, if they have
- 21:05Speaker 4: George Pickens making plays like this, maybe they will. Dak
- 21:08Speaker 4: Prescott was special too, you know, A very tough team
- 21:11Speaker 4: to rank given their defensive struggles, but I will say
- 21:14Speaker 4: they're playing hard and it's good to see Dak back
- 21:17Speaker 4: at an elite level. He was an MVP candidate a
- 21:19Speaker 4: couple of years ago, and boy, I hope he gets
- 21:22Speaker 4: a chance at a ring at some point. Again, I
- 21:24Speaker 4: don't know if it's this season, but you gotta love
- 21:26Speaker 4: the fight in this team, and they did put on
- 21:28Speaker 4: a show at least Sunday night.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Yeah, an emotional game for the Dallas Cowboys with Micah
- 21:33Speaker 3: back into the building and obviously Mike I had that
- 21:35Speaker 3: huge tackle late in that game really actually helped to
- 21:39Speaker 3: save it for him from that perspective, because it could
- 21:41Speaker 3: have been a loss for Green Bay Bengals.
- 21:43Speaker 2: They dropped four spots.
- 21:44Speaker 3: I got a friend who's actually a fan of Cincinnati
- 21:46Speaker 3: shot me at Texas morning and he's like, hey, like,
- 21:48Speaker 3: what are we supposed to do? Like this was really
- 21:50Speaker 3: tough on Monday night, and he's right about that. They
- 21:53Speaker 3: dropped the four spots. Do you make a trade for
- 21:55Speaker 3: a quarterback?
- 21:56Speaker 2: Is it Russ? Is it? You know? Do you make
- 21:58Speaker 2: some calls for Jamis?
- 21:59Speaker 3: Like, I don't know what the solution is for this
- 22:01Speaker 3: team because Detroit is next, and I don't know how
- 22:03Speaker 3: they get that went.
- 22:03Speaker 4: I mean, they're coming schedule is rough and what we
- 22:06Speaker 4: saw Monday night was not feasible. And this is not
- 22:09Speaker 4: how you employ your star wide receivers. You don't get
- 22:13Speaker 4: them the ball. That's certainly a problem. Jake Browning, it's
- 22:15Speaker 4: been bad. Maybe it is the solution you go for
- 22:18Speaker 4: a quarterback there are some options out there, or maybe
- 22:21Speaker 4: you go in the totally different direction and start fielding
- 22:24Speaker 4: calls on on t Higgins or Trey Hendrickson. I guess
- 22:27Speaker 4: it depends how the next three four games go and
- 22:30Speaker 4: if they're going to be out of it by the
- 22:31Speaker 4: trade deadline. If they are, that's what I would do.
- 22:34Speaker 4: I would take the opposite approach. Look, you still want
- 22:36Speaker 4: to build around Burrow and Chase, that's fine. I get that,
- 22:39Speaker 4: But this was an all in type of season that's
- 22:41Speaker 4: going all out the window right now. So I don't
- 22:44Speaker 4: know if I can defend that quarterback option unless they
- 22:46Speaker 4: start winning some games.
- 22:47Speaker 3: That's the problem they went in on this season. This
- 22:50Speaker 3: team is to build up right now. Got to figure
- 22:52Speaker 3: it out.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Personnel wise.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Rankings twenty five through thirty two. It's the Cleveland Browns,
- 22:56Speaker 3: the New York Giants, moving up.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Just four spots, Art, what are we doing here? The
- 23:00Speaker 2: Panthers at twenty seven.
- 23:02Speaker 3: At twenty eight, it's the Raiders, followed by the Dolphins,
- 23:05Speaker 3: who don't have Tyreek Hill for the rest of the season,
- 23:07Speaker 3: the Jets, still looking for their first one of the
- 23:08Speaker 3: year at thirty the Saints also winless, and then the
- 23:11Speaker 3: Tennessee Titans at thirty two, dropping three spots by that
- 23:15Speaker 3: offense that it has just been tough sledding here the Giants. Dude,
- 23:19Speaker 3: why just four spots your biggest mover with the Seahawks.
- 23:22Speaker 3: I candidly I thought it was going to be the
- 23:24Speaker 3: Giants moving inside the top twenty.
- 23:25Speaker 2: If I'm being honest with.
- 23:26Speaker 4: You, you gotta win some more games first, right, and you
- 23:29Speaker 4: lose Elik Neighbors. I mean, that's gonna take an effect too.
- 23:32Speaker 4: But I love what Dart did. I mean they added
- 23:34Speaker 4: some wrinkles to the offense. You saw this little shovel
- 23:36Speaker 4: of THEO Johnson, you know, darts athleticism. He used it
- 23:40Speaker 4: better than Russell Wilson did. So I'm still excited. I
- 23:42Speaker 4: think they can manufacture some some yards, but not without
- 23:46Speaker 4: neighbors there. I don't know how much they're gonna be
- 23:48Speaker 4: able to do.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a tough go, but the defenses look good
- 23:51Speaker 3: and make signs.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Of life for that offense. Appreciate you guys. Watching.
