- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, everybody. Welcome to the week seven NFL preview on
- 0:12Speaker 1: Inside the Birds. I'm Jeff Mosher. And look, there are
- 0:16Speaker 1: not a ton of great matchups this weekend, but you
- 0:21Speaker 1: got treated to a fantastic Thursday night game, which only
- 0:26Speaker 1: happens about, I don't know, once a year. So cherish that.
- 0:30Speaker 1: You don't get it very often. It's a nice start
- 0:32Speaker 1: to the week. Bears obviously positioned themselves well. They've won
- 0:37Speaker 1: two in a row ever since getting blown out. by
- 0:39Speaker 1: the Packers, Caleb Williams came back, and he's looked good.
- 0:42Speaker 1: He's looked very, very good. You watch that game against
- 0:47Speaker 1: the Patriots, and both teams made some mistakes. They did.
- 0:52Speaker 1: There was an end zone interception from May. Caleb Williams
- 0:56Speaker 1: took a bad sack, wound up not hurting them because
- 1:00Speaker 1: they still got the game-winning field goal. But the reality
- 1:04Speaker 1: is when you watch that game, at least for me,
- 1:07Speaker 1: I think you saw some really exciting quarterback play. May
- 1:11Speaker 1: has really come on since the first few weeks of
- 1:14Speaker 1: the season. And Williams obviously is coming back from the
- 1:19Speaker 1: hamstring injury. Williams reminds me of 2017 Carson Wentz, where
- 1:27Speaker 1: he will make some mistakes. He'll be a little bit
- 1:30Speaker 1: inaccurate at times, but there's going to be six or
- 1:34Speaker 1: seven plays that Williams makes where you just stop and say,
- 1:38Speaker 1: I don't know how many people can make that play.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I don't know how many quarterbacks can do that. Whether
- 1:45Speaker 1: it's a throw on the run, whether it's his own run,
- 1:47Speaker 1: whether it's just a decision that only he can make,
- 1:52Speaker 1: a throw into a tight window. He made an unbelievable
- 1:55Speaker 1: throw in the fourth quarter in a tight window to
- 1:59Speaker 1: Loveland that got dropped. I mean, Loveland should have had it.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Loveland did have a good game, although he left– with
- 2:04Speaker 1: a knee injury. We'll see how that impacts them going forward.
- 2:09Speaker 1: But there were some times where I was watching Caleb
- 2:12Speaker 1: Williams and he just missed some guys. He missed some
- 2:15Speaker 1: guys on and out. He missed a few. He missed
- 2:17Speaker 1: Loveland over the middle on a big third down in
- 2:19Speaker 1: the third quarter after the Patriots had scored a touchdown
- 2:24Speaker 1: and kind of got close. But he's an exciting player.
- 2:28Speaker 1: He makes a ton of plays. And the thing about
- 2:30Speaker 1: the Bears is they're not getting this home run hitting
- 2:35Speaker 1: run game that they were getting last year. Swift was okay.
- 2:40Speaker 1: It was good. You know, Menon guy has been hurt.
- 2:42Speaker 1: They're not just steamrolling teams in the run game like
- 2:47Speaker 1: they did last year, but they've gotten so much more
- 2:51Speaker 1: out of Caleb Williams in his second year in Ben
- 2:54Speaker 1: Johnson system. You saw Luther burden. I mean, let's be honest, Caleb,
- 2:59Speaker 1: Caleb hit Luther burden on three or four passes where
- 3:01Speaker 1: burden was wide open. So you credit the scheme, more
- 3:04Speaker 1: than the quarterback or the receiver on those plays, but
- 3:08Speaker 1: burden and Loveland are catching passes. You know, Roma dunes,
- 3:12Speaker 1: they came up with a huge, huge catch in the
- 3:15Speaker 1: fourth quarter on a ball is a little behind and low. Uh,
- 3:18Speaker 1: he's almost the forgotten man. And yet he, I think
- 3:20Speaker 1: he was the highest of all the draft picks that
- 3:23Speaker 1: they have there on offense there. When they move up
- 3:27Speaker 1: and down the field, they are functioning at a really,
- 3:31Speaker 1: really high level. Uh, They did not a couple weeks
- 3:35Speaker 1: ago against the Packers. They've seemingly gotten themselves straightened out.
- 3:39Speaker 1: They're 5-2. They're in a good position. They're exciting. And
- 3:45Speaker 1: I think the Patriots will be fine. They lost the game,
- 3:49Speaker 1: but they're 4-3. They still need to get that connection
- 3:53Speaker 1: between May and A.J. Brown going. It has not been
- 3:56Speaker 1: good when, obviously, A.J. missed a bunch of games, but
- 4:00Speaker 1: he's come back, had a lot of targets, but not
- 4:02Speaker 1: had a lot of production per se. They did get
- 4:06Speaker 1: kind of a gift touchdown there to Ramondre Stevenson at
- 4:09Speaker 1: the end of the first half, but it is still
- 4:11Speaker 1: a Patriots team that I think is going to be dangerous.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I think May has been much improved since the first
- 4:19Speaker 1: few weeks of the season. They just got to get
- 4:22Speaker 1: him and A.J. Brown on the same page before Brown
- 4:25Speaker 1: starts chirping and making this thing difficult for the locker room.
- 4:29Speaker 1: But a good Thursday night game leads us into an
- 4:32Speaker 1: interesting Sunday slate, we'll talk about the games. The first
- 4:36Speaker 1: one's going to be in Paris at 9.30, so you
- 4:39Speaker 1: get another morning game. But before I go through the games,
- 4:43Speaker 1: I just want to say this will be a very
- 4:45Speaker 1: interesting week for a lot of teams. You have the Colts,
- 4:50Speaker 1: who are 2-4, who've already fired their GM. You have
- 4:53Speaker 1: a Bucs team that is 1-5. You have a couple
- 4:59Speaker 1: of teams that you look at and you say, man,
- 5:03Speaker 1: what would that team be if it was able to
- 5:05Speaker 1: make a trade for? What would the Seahawks be if
- 5:08Speaker 1: they got themselves a running back? What could a couple
- 5:12Speaker 1: of teams, the Packers be if they got themselves an
- 5:14Speaker 1: offensive lineman? What would the Lions be if they had
- 5:18Speaker 1: themselves another pass rusher or a better cornerback? And so
- 5:21Speaker 1: you start to look at the teams that are really
- 5:23Speaker 1: falling out of it. Like I mentioned, the Bucs, of course,
- 5:26Speaker 1: the Dolphins, the Colts, they lose again. They may already
- 5:31Speaker 1: be in fire sale mode now that they fired their GM.
- 5:35Speaker 1: We've seen a couple of trades already, Juergens, Marvin Harrison.
- 5:40Speaker 1: So we'll see if teams continue to lose and spiral
- 5:43Speaker 1: out as we get closer to the trade deadline. Eagles
- 5:47Speaker 1: put the Eagles in there. They lose to the Cowboys.
- 5:50Speaker 1: You'll have to start to wonder if teams will start
- 5:52Speaker 1: picking up the phone and having those discussions, and we'll
- 5:55Speaker 1: see some major movement before the deadline. All right. So
- 6:00Speaker 1: the first game is the nine 30 game in Paris.
- 6:03Speaker 1: As I mentioned, you have the Steelers who are playing
- 6:06Speaker 1: very well against the saints who I know they almost
- 6:11Speaker 1: blew it against the giants last weekend, but they were
- 6:14Speaker 1: dominating the giants. And what happened was Kellen Moore pulled
- 6:17Speaker 1: the starters a little bit too early. And then obviously
- 6:20Speaker 1: the giants got a little bit of a spark when
- 6:22Speaker 1: JJ McCarthy came in the game, led them to a
- 6:26Speaker 1: few late touchdowns. I don't, I don't, To me, the
- 6:31Speaker 1: Saints were dominating that game. The Saints haven't had it easy,
- 6:35Speaker 1: but that one helps them get back on track. They
- 6:38Speaker 1: are 2-4. Now, there are three-point underdogs in the Superdome.
- 6:43Speaker 1: It's always a tough place to play, although Aaron Rodgers
- 6:46Speaker 1: has played there plenty. So I don't think he'll be
- 6:50Speaker 1: thrown off by the atmosphere. Again, Steelers are playing well.
- 6:55Speaker 1: The one thing about them, though, is– even with a
- 6:58Speaker 1: beat-up passing game. Remember, they didn't have Michael Pittman. I
- 7:02Speaker 1: believe Fryermuth has been banged up. And I said this
- 7:05Speaker 1: last week that Roman Wilson is out, their second-year slot receiver.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I told you last week, watch out for this guy,
- 7:12Speaker 1: Jeremy Bernard, Alabama slot receiver, good player, earned Rodgers' trust.
- 7:17Speaker 1: They were talking highly of him. Well, he went out
- 7:19Speaker 1: and had 11 catches, 87 yards, a touchdown, a big touchdown,
- 7:24Speaker 1: including their last touchdown. That kind of sealed the game.
- 7:27Speaker 1: So that was a big win for them against the Bucs.
- 7:32Speaker 1: They were down 13 twice in that game, but had
- 7:34Speaker 1: a big second half. They don't want to play the
- 7:37Speaker 1: way they played with Aaron Rodgers dropping back 49 times.
- 7:41Speaker 1: But the fact that they could win a game with
- 7:44Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers now dropping back 49 times shows you what
- 7:48Speaker 1: I said last week. Their offensive line is playing a
- 7:50Speaker 1: lot better. Bernard's been helpful. You know, they got Rico
- 7:53Speaker 1: Dowdle back. Jalen Warren has been nice. Metcalf had a
- 7:58Speaker 1: good game. They've now won three of their last four games,
- 8:02Speaker 1: so they've positioned themselves well. If they can go in
- 8:05Speaker 1: and beat the Saints, they'll have the Browns up next week,
- 8:07Speaker 1: and that'll be a tough game because the Browns are
- 8:09Speaker 1: a good team with a good defense. But right now
- 8:12Speaker 1: the Steelers have a good chance to go to 5-2,
- 8:15Speaker 1: and if the Saints can win this game, you'll feel
- 8:19Speaker 1: better about them. Now they're not getting Jordan Tyson back yet,
- 8:22Speaker 1: their eighth overall pick. I think, yeah, eighth overall pick.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Sounds like he's not practicing this week. I think they
- 8:29Speaker 1: have the bye after that. So you might see Jordan
- 8:33Speaker 1: Tyson not next week, but then the week after, week
- 8:36Speaker 1: nine for the Saints. And they really need him. They
- 8:39Speaker 1: need more offensive firepower. One o'clock game, 49ers at Atlanta,
- 8:45Speaker 1: the Falcons. Okay, so here's where I start to talk
- 8:48Speaker 1: about law of averages and the way things catch up
- 8:51Speaker 1: to a team. Right now, You look at the 49ers
- 8:54Speaker 1: at 6-0. They're 2-0 on the road. You look at
- 8:58Speaker 1: the Falcons. They're 2-4. The Falcons have had trouble playing
- 9:01Speaker 1: defense at various times throughout the year. They've given up
- 9:04Speaker 1: 30 points in each of the last two games. They're
- 9:09Speaker 1: on a two-game losing streak. However, the 49ers at some point,
- 9:15Speaker 1: all these injuries that they've got, and now Mike Evans
- 9:17Speaker 1: got hurt in that game against Washington. that they just played.
- 9:24Speaker 1: All right. Evans got hurt. He's been banged up a lot.
- 9:26Speaker 1: They have no wide receivers. Brock Purdy has played fantastically.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I mean, he'd probably be, it's either him or Josh Allen.
- 9:34Speaker 1: If the season ended today for MVP, he's got 1,460
- 9:38Speaker 1: passing yards, 14 touchdowns, two interceptions. He's been brilliant, but
- 9:43Speaker 1: this is a game where my red flag is up.
- 9:45Speaker 1: They got to travel to the East coast to play
- 9:48Speaker 1: a one o'clock game against the Falcons and And they've
- 9:53Speaker 1: got just a ton of injuries. Bosa still banged up.
- 9:56Speaker 1: We'll see what the final verdict is on Mike Evans, Debo.
- 10:00Speaker 1: is still hurt. It's going to catch up with them
- 10:02Speaker 1: at some point. The Falcons are two-and-a-half-point underdogs at home
- 10:07Speaker 1: against this 49ers team, and they should be, but I'm
- 10:10Speaker 1: just telling you my radar is up for an upset because,
- 10:13Speaker 1: as we know, the 49ers aren't going to go undefeated
- 10:17Speaker 1: this year. They've had nice wins. I wouldn't even say
- 10:23Speaker 1: that they've played a favorable schedule. They shouldn't. They've had
- 10:25Speaker 1: to beat the Rams. They've had to play the Broncos.
- 10:28Speaker 1: They've played the Seahawks. This is one of their lesser
- 10:34Speaker 1: teams in playing the Falcons. They'll have the Raiders and
- 10:37Speaker 1: Cowboys and Vikings next three weeks. They'll be good. They're fine,
- 10:43Speaker 1: but I would watch for a potential trip up this
- 10:45Speaker 1: week in Atlanta. Another 1 o'clock game that it's not
- 10:50Speaker 1: a very exciting game. But, man, the Browns and Titans,
- 10:53Speaker 1: the Browns have a chance to go to 5-2. Got
- 10:55Speaker 1: to give them a lot of credit. They were down
- 10:59Speaker 1: early against the Ravens last week. King Henry had 31
- 11:03Speaker 1: rushing yards on his first three carries. And I'm thinking
- 11:07Speaker 1: the same thing, that the Ravens are just going to
- 11:09Speaker 1: cruise here in this win and the Browns are going
- 11:13Speaker 1: to be the Browns. It's not how it worked out.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Browns' defense has been very good. They put the clamps
- 11:19Speaker 1: on the Ravens the rest of the way. Snoop Huntley
- 11:22Speaker 1: did not do a great job. I thought he would
- 11:24Speaker 1: be better, but he didn't. But you give the Browns credit.
- 11:27Speaker 1: They played great defense, figured out a way to win
- 11:29Speaker 1: the game. And slowly but surely, you look at the Browns,
- 11:32Speaker 1: and even though I still think you can't really have
- 11:37Speaker 1: serious conversations about their potential until they have a quarterback,
- 11:41Speaker 1: because it's not like Deshaun Watson's playing great. But if
- 11:44Speaker 1: you look at their defense right now, OK, they've really
- 11:48Speaker 1: got some horses. You know, they have some good players.
- 11:51Speaker 1: They've got Schlesinger. They've got Denzel Ward. They have Jared Verse.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Delpit at safety. They are a pretty good defense and
- 12:02Speaker 1: they have really made it tough on a lot of
- 12:04Speaker 1: teams so far. So they're playing a Titans offense, a
- 12:09Speaker 1: Titans team that I get it. Congratulations to Robert Sala.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Won his first game. They beat the Colts. They basically
- 12:16Speaker 1: made the Colts fire their GM after that game because
- 12:19Speaker 1: the owner was so disappointed in the direction of the Colts.
- 12:23Speaker 1: But this whole year was supposed to be about getting
- 12:26Speaker 1: more from Cam Ward. You're seeing Cardinal Tate and Ward
- 12:31Speaker 1: establish a rapport. Tate had a touchdown last game. He
- 12:34Speaker 1: had 100 yards a couple weeks ago. So two out
- 12:37Speaker 1: of the last three weeks, Tate has shown that he's
- 12:40Speaker 1: a first-round receiver and helping the offense. But It's still
- 12:43Speaker 1: not a good offense and still not enough from Cam Ward.
- 12:47Speaker 1: You can't really be thrilled if you're the Titans with
- 12:50Speaker 1: this Brian Dable experiment on how the offense is going.
- 12:54Speaker 1: And now they're going to have to play a very
- 12:56Speaker 1: good Browns defense. So it's only going to continue to
- 12:59Speaker 1: be difficult for the Titans until you start to see,
- 13:02Speaker 1: if you ever do, signs of Cam Ward and that
- 13:05Speaker 1: offense really being more functional. And how good will the
- 13:09Speaker 1: Browns feel? if they come out of this game at
- 13:11Speaker 1: five and two and really in the thick of it
- 13:13Speaker 1: in the AFC North one o'clock game Colts at Vikings,
- 13:18Speaker 1: the Vikings are home. They're six and a half point
- 13:20Speaker 1: favorites are coming off a buy. You know, I told you,
- 13:24Speaker 1: I told you going into the year that the Vikings,
- 13:27Speaker 1: you got to give them respect because they got some
- 13:29Speaker 1: of the most horrific quarterback play you've ever seen last year.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And they still finished nine and eight. Now it wasn't
- 13:35Speaker 1: good enough to do anything. They were I think they
- 13:38Speaker 1: were third or fourth in the NFC North, which is
- 13:40Speaker 1: very competitive, but it also gave them a soft schedule
- 13:44Speaker 1: this year. And they have been, you know, been able
- 13:47Speaker 1: to win the games they're supposed to win. They did
- 13:50Speaker 1: have a huge win over Green Bay in week one.
- 13:53Speaker 1: So that was very solid for them. They're not getting
- 13:56Speaker 1: fantastic quarterback play, but they are getting Jason Jordan Mason
- 14:02Speaker 1: likely back. They're running back who, you know, they want
- 14:05Speaker 1: to get him involved and, take some pressure off Aaron Jones.
- 14:08Speaker 1: And look, this is a Colts team they're playing that
- 14:12Speaker 1: is in complete disarray. No Tyler Warren, no Sauce Gardner.
- 14:16Speaker 1: GM got fired, will probably be in sell mode. So
- 14:19Speaker 1: it's very easy to see the Vikings going to 6-0,
- 14:23Speaker 1: and then that'll be huge for them, especially in their
- 14:26Speaker 1: division with the Packers playing well, the Lions playing well.
- 14:30Speaker 1: That'll be huge. Oh, the Bears obviously playing well. Because
- 14:34Speaker 1: after they get to 6-0 by beating the Colts, which
- 14:36Speaker 1: I believe will happen, they will have the Lions, Bills, Packers,
- 14:41Speaker 1: and 49ers. So getting to 6-0 for them has got
- 14:44Speaker 1: to be the objective with the tough part of their
- 14:47Speaker 1: schedule coming up. It will buy them a lot of
- 14:49Speaker 1: currency if they come back to earth a little bit
- 14:53Speaker 1: over the next four weeks after that. One o'clock game, Dolphins-Jets.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I mean, this is a battle for two teams that
- 15:01Speaker 1: will be picking teams In the top five, the Jets
- 15:04Speaker 1: have been representative. You know, if you look at their
- 15:07Speaker 1: four losses, three of them so far have not been bad.
- 15:11Speaker 1: They've been respectable in one. There was one against the
- 15:13Speaker 1: Bears where, you know, they were out gained by like
- 15:15Speaker 1: 400 yards. That wasn't very good. And you're starting to
- 15:19Speaker 1: see some glimpses of their future. They've had a couple
- 15:22Speaker 1: of weeks where Kenyon Sadiq, one of their three first
- 15:24Speaker 1: round picks, has played well. Last week, they got a
- 15:28Speaker 1: 100-yard game from Omar Cook, the Indiana wide receiver that
- 15:31Speaker 1: they drafted. in the first round, it sounds like Brees
- 15:34Speaker 1: Hall is going to come back. And I will say
- 15:37Speaker 1: Braille and Allen has run the ball very well. So
- 15:40Speaker 1: it gives them two really good running backs. Do you know,
- 15:43Speaker 1: Smith has been fine. Just one interception this year, seven touchdowns.
- 15:47Speaker 1: He's not, not making a lot of splashy plays, but
- 15:49Speaker 1: they're not turning the ball over either. So they have
- 15:52Speaker 1: been a representative team at two and four, but if
- 15:55Speaker 1: you're Aaron Glenn and you're really trying to show that
- 15:58Speaker 1: you're a changed team in year two, you have to
- 16:00Speaker 1: beat this. Oh, and five dolphins team. I know the
- 16:03Speaker 1: Dolphins are coming off a bye, but again, your four
- 16:05Speaker 1: and a half point favorites, you can't let a lead
- 16:08Speaker 1: slip away at home like you did against the Packers
- 16:10Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago. You got to win this
- 16:13Speaker 1: game and get to three and four and continue to
- 16:15Speaker 1: show that you are making strides with this very young nucleus.
- 16:20Speaker 1: You know, you got your David Bailey first round pick,
- 16:23Speaker 1: the top of the three of their first round picks
- 16:27Speaker 1: playing well at the edge. So you really need to
- 16:30Speaker 1: finish off and put away this dolphins team. And as
- 16:34Speaker 1: in terms of the dolphins, this will be, you know,
- 16:36Speaker 1: the dolphins really don't have a whole lot of teams
- 16:39Speaker 1: on their schedule that they'll be able to beat this year.
- 16:41Speaker 1: The jets might be one. They do have games against
- 16:44Speaker 1: the Colts and chargers later this year. I, you know,
- 16:48Speaker 1: Colts and chargers are still better than them, even though
- 16:50Speaker 1: the chargers are, are winless as well. But maybe the
- 16:53Speaker 1: dolphins can pull something off here in New York, but
- 16:56Speaker 1: that would be bad for Aaron Glenn. He's got to
- 16:58Speaker 1: win this game. One o'clock game. Bucks-Panthers, a nice NFC
- 17:03Speaker 1: South game between last year's NFC South champion, the Panthers,
- 17:07Speaker 1: and then the team that won the NFC South two
- 17:09Speaker 1: years before that in the Bucks. But this Bucks team
- 17:13Speaker 1: has just been a shell of itself. Now, it sounds
- 17:15Speaker 1: like Mayfield is going to be back at quarterback. The
- 17:19Speaker 1: Daniels kid did okay. I mean, for an undrafted rookie,
- 17:22Speaker 1: he actually did pretty good. You know, got that win
- 17:25Speaker 1: against Dallas, which was big for them. But Mayfield's back.
- 17:29Speaker 1: The problem is they're down a right tackle. Egbuka might
- 17:34Speaker 1: not be able to play. He sustained a concussion in
- 17:37Speaker 1: their game last week. If he doesn't play, that's a big,
- 17:42Speaker 1: big weapon taken away in their past game. And you're
- 17:46Speaker 1: going to need everything you can in your offense against
- 17:49Speaker 1: this Panthers team that continues to be very explosive offensively.
- 17:54Speaker 1: You saw Bryce Young continue to hang in there on
- 17:56Speaker 1: the road against the Eagles and make a couple of
- 18:00Speaker 1: really big plays in the past game to Coker, to McMillan.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I think Brad Hitzig is doing a fantastic job of
- 18:08Speaker 1: scheming up McMillan and Coker across the middle. These guys
- 18:11Speaker 1: are more big, strong receivers who can make yards after
- 18:15Speaker 1: the catch than they are. You know, guys are going
- 18:17Speaker 1: to beat you 20, 30 yards down the field, but
- 18:20Speaker 1: that offense is clicking. It's using RPOs. It's doing a
- 18:24Speaker 1: good job. And, Honestly, you know, they're three-point favorites over
- 18:28Speaker 1: the Bucs. I think they should win this game. And
- 18:31Speaker 1: that would be big for them. It would get them
- 18:33Speaker 1: to 4-2. I believe they would be undefeated still in
- 18:36Speaker 1: their division if they won that game, if they win
- 18:41Speaker 1: this game against Tampa Bay, which is what you want
- 18:44Speaker 1: if you're Carolina, you know, especially coming off last year. Yeah,
- 18:46Speaker 1: they would be 2-0 in their division if they win
- 18:50Speaker 1: this game. So Carolina has made a lot of strides
- 18:52Speaker 1: offensively this year. Bryce Young is playing very well. And
- 18:57Speaker 1: winning this game will continue to prove that they are
- 18:59Speaker 1: the top dogs in the NFC South. Another good one
- 19:02Speaker 1: o'clock AFC North battle. You have the Bengals at the Ravens.
- 19:06Speaker 1: The Ravens are one and a half point favorites. It
- 19:08Speaker 1: looked bleak at the start of the week, but apparently
- 19:11Speaker 1: on Friday, Lamar Jackson was spotted at practice. I don't
- 19:16Speaker 1: know if he was a full participant, but they really
- 19:19Speaker 1: need him back. Their offense is just different, obviously, when
- 19:24Speaker 1: they have the MVP back there. Um, it sounds like
- 19:28Speaker 1: they're still working through it. It may be a game
- 19:30Speaker 1: time decision. If he doesn't play, I don't like Baltimore's
- 19:35Speaker 1: chances that as much, especially with the Bengals coming off
- 19:38Speaker 1: a buy. Um, if he does play, I think that
- 19:42Speaker 1: they should win the game. Um, the Bengals have been good.
- 19:45Speaker 1: The problem with the Bengals right now is that their
- 19:48Speaker 1: running game has not been explosive. They've actually been splitting
- 19:53Speaker 1: time in carries with their two running backs, Chase Brown
- 19:57Speaker 1: and Samaji Pirine. Pirine's a nice running back. He kind
- 20:01Speaker 1: of gets you three when you need three. If you
- 20:03Speaker 1: need six, he's only going to get you three. Old adage, but...
- 20:10Speaker 1: It has surprised me, and I think a lot of
- 20:12Speaker 1: fantasy football owners, just how inefficient that Chase Brown has been.
- 20:18Speaker 1: He hasn't been as much of a receiver out of
- 20:20Speaker 1: the backfield as I thought he would be. So it's
- 20:24Speaker 1: kind of the missing piece of their offense at this point.
- 20:27Speaker 1: But the Bengals are coming off– the Bengals have lost
- 20:32Speaker 1: only two games this year to Jacksonville and Pittsburgh by
- 20:34Speaker 1: a combined eight points. So this game, although also– I
- 20:39Speaker 1: will say this about this game. Whenever these two teams
- 20:43Speaker 1: have played each other, when the quarterbacks have been healthy,
- 20:46Speaker 1: it has been a very wild matchup. It usually features
- 20:49Speaker 1: a lot of points, and it usually features a lot
- 20:51Speaker 1: of wacky turnovers, and it often comes down to the
- 20:55Speaker 1: fourth quarter. These teams know each other very well, but
- 20:59Speaker 1: they get out of character, especially the Ravens. The Ravens somehow,
- 21:03Speaker 1: they always have a good defense, but get out of
- 21:05Speaker 1: character sometimes. against the Bengals, and they wind up being
- 21:08Speaker 1: very high-scoring games. So if there's anything to watch, it's
- 21:12Speaker 1: how well these defenses will be able to play against
- 21:16Speaker 1: each other. Sometimes when you get two teams who play
- 21:20Speaker 1: each other, the defenses get neutralized. I think you saw
- 21:24Speaker 1: that last week in the morning game, the London game
- 21:27Speaker 1: between the Texans and the Jags. The Texans, we'll talk
- 21:30Speaker 1: about this in a second, were able to eke that
- 21:33Speaker 1: game out. They won late Against the Jaguars, it was
- 21:41Speaker 1: a 34-31 game. You know, they won in the late
- 21:42Speaker 1: field goal. Both of those defenses are very good. It's
- 21:45Speaker 1: just that the teams know each other so well. And
- 21:49Speaker 1: they were able to move the ball up and down
- 21:50Speaker 1: against each other. And it was an exciting game. I
- 21:52Speaker 1: didn't think it was a poor defensive game. I just
- 21:55Speaker 1: thought both Lawrence and C.J. Stroud did a really good
- 21:58Speaker 1: job of making plays against the defenses. So that's what
- 22:02Speaker 1: I expect you'll see if Lamar plays today. in this
- 22:06Speaker 1: Ravens-Bengal game is two teams, two really good quarterbacks that
- 22:10Speaker 1: know what the other defense is going to do, and
- 22:12Speaker 1: they'll move the ball. And it wouldn't surprise me if
- 22:15Speaker 1: whoever had the ball last in that game won. I
- 22:19Speaker 1: just mentioned the Texans. One o'clock game, they are hosting
- 22:22Speaker 1: the Giants now. The Texans, I told you, I did
- 22:26Speaker 1: not lose faith in them when they started off 0-4
- 22:29Speaker 1: because I just believe in their talent. I believe they
- 22:33Speaker 1: had to figure some things out offensively. You saw them
- 22:36Speaker 1: add Marvin Harrison Jr. in a trade. He didn't play
- 22:38Speaker 1: a whole lot against the Jaguars, but when he was
- 22:41Speaker 1: on the field, he got some targets and made some plays.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I think he will be a benefit in their offense
- 22:46Speaker 1: as their number two to Nico Collins. Obviously, their run
- 22:51Speaker 1: game was hurt a little bit without Montgomery. It wasn't
- 22:53Speaker 1: doing that good to begin with. Woody Marks has taken over.
- 22:56Speaker 1: But this is a game against the Giants where they're 10.5-point favorites.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Even though they're 2-4, And the Giants are 3-2-1. But
- 23:05Speaker 1: I will say this about the Giants. I am going
- 23:07Speaker 1: to give credit to John Harbaugh and their coaching staff.
- 23:10Speaker 1: They are going forward with J.J. McCarthy. I don't expect
- 23:13Speaker 1: that to work out for them at all. But I
- 23:15Speaker 1: credit them for looking at their record, knowing they're in
- 23:20Speaker 1: first place in the NFC East, and not thinking that
- 23:23Speaker 1: that means anything. Being 3-2-1, yeah, sure, you're first place
- 23:29Speaker 1: in a really crap division right now. And that would
- 23:33Speaker 1: make a lot of other coaches, especially older coaches like
- 23:37Speaker 1: John Harbaugh, want to stay the course. But they're not.
- 23:39Speaker 1: They're not going to go with Winston. They're going to
- 23:41Speaker 1: go with J.J. McCarthy. They understand that they were getting
- 23:45Speaker 1: their doors blown off them against the Saints last week.
- 23:49Speaker 1: And even though McCarthy drove them down the field that really,
- 23:53Speaker 1: you know, twice in the end there. to make it
- 23:56Speaker 1: look like a close game. It really wasn't. They understand
- 23:58Speaker 1: that they botched that game in overtime almost as badly
- 24:03Speaker 1: as Washington did two weeks ago when Scadaboo fumbled, when
- 24:07Speaker 1: they had an easy field goal that could have won it.
- 24:08Speaker 1: So they understand that they are limited. They understand that
- 24:13Speaker 1: even at 3-2-1, they need more than what they're getting.
- 24:18Speaker 1: They're getting no run game. Scadaboo was essentially benched last week.
- 24:22Speaker 1: They tried to give Najee Harris some work. He didn't
- 24:24Speaker 1: do it. They gave Tyrone Tracy some work. He did better,
- 24:27Speaker 1: but they have no running backs. They have no explosion
- 24:31Speaker 1: in their offense outside of Malik Nabors and occasionally getting
- 24:34Speaker 1: something from Isaiah Likely, who's had a very nice year.
- 24:37Speaker 1: So why not go with J.J. McCarthy? Because at the
- 24:40Speaker 1: end of the day, they have to figure out next
- 24:43Speaker 1: year who their quarterback is going to be. Is it
- 24:46Speaker 1: going to be Jackson Dart, who has played very little
- 24:48Speaker 1: football now because he's out for the year after two years?
- 24:52Speaker 1: And when he has played, he's been erratic. Or is
- 24:54Speaker 1: it going to be J.J. McCarthy? They'll have a little bit, maybe,
- 24:58Speaker 1: I'm sure they're going to camp next year saying Dart's
- 25:00Speaker 1: their guy, McCarthy's a backup. They'll call it a little
- 25:02Speaker 1: bit of a competition though. And even if Dart does
- 25:06Speaker 1: become their starter, at least they've got something of a
- 25:09Speaker 1: backup in McCarthy who will have this year to build on.
- 25:14Speaker 1: All right, for a fifth round pick, it makes a
- 25:16Speaker 1: lot of sense. Now, again, I don't expect McCarthy will
- 25:19Speaker 1: do anything. I don't think the Giants will be very good.
- 25:21Speaker 1: And I think the Giants are going to start to
- 25:24Speaker 1: look like the Giants over the next few weeks. They
- 25:27Speaker 1: enjoyed this nice start. They enjoyed taking teams by surprise.
- 25:32Speaker 1: They beat the Cowboys in week one, and everybody thought, hey,
- 25:36Speaker 1: maybe the Giants have something, right? Then they shook off
- 25:39Speaker 1: a loss to the Rams by beating the Titans and
- 25:42Speaker 1: the Cardinals, and all of a sudden people were like, hey,
- 25:44Speaker 1: the Giants. No, no, no. They've come back to earth.
- 25:48Speaker 1: They'll probably lose to the Texans this week. Then they'll
- 25:51Speaker 1: go into a bye. Then they'll come out of the bye,
- 25:53Speaker 1: and they'll play the Eagles. the Commanders, the Jaguars, the Colts.
- 25:58Speaker 1: So there'll be some winnable games, but I don't think
- 26:00Speaker 1: they'll beat the Jags. Then they'll play the 49ers and
- 26:03Speaker 1: the Seahawks and then the Browns. Those will be three
- 26:06Speaker 1: tough games for them. So they know who they are.
- 26:08Speaker 1: And that's very important for John Harbaugh in the first year.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Know who you are, but still try to make moves
- 26:13Speaker 1: that might help you in the current and the future.
- 26:16Speaker 1: There is no future for the Giants with Jameis Winston
- 26:19Speaker 1: as the quarterback. So I applaud them for making the
- 26:21Speaker 1: move and not going that traditional route of thinking that
- 26:24Speaker 1: they're better than they are or thinking that just because
- 26:27Speaker 1: they can win the NFC East, they should stay the course.
- 26:29Speaker 1: They should not. And they are not. Hey, football is

- 29:40Speaker 1: let them know we sent you. All right, let's go
- 29:42Speaker 1: to the four o'clock games. You got the Broncos at
- 29:44Speaker 1: the Cardinals. We talked about the Broncos, you know, last
- 29:48Speaker 1: week and how abysmal their offense has been, how disappointing
- 29:53Speaker 1: Bo Nix has been as a quarterback and how much
- 29:56Speaker 1: they really need to get that offense going if they
- 29:58Speaker 1: want to be you know, really considered a Super Bowl
- 30:02Speaker 1: team again because right now I don't care that they're 4-2.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Their offensive problems are so bad that they need a spark. Now,
- 30:10Speaker 1: the rookie running back that they love, Jonah Coleman, sounds
- 30:14Speaker 1: like he'll be off IR. He is off IR. Well,
- 30:16Speaker 1: it sounds like he'll be activated and play. Maybe he
- 30:19Speaker 1: gives them a jolt in their run game because they
- 30:21Speaker 1: really haven't gotten a whole lot out of Dobbins, out
- 30:23Speaker 1: of Harvey as a runner. I mean, Harvey can catch
- 30:26Speaker 1: a pass, but they need something. And really what needs
- 30:30Speaker 1: to happen is Waddle. Waddle has to be involved, but
- 30:33Speaker 1: he can't throw himself the ball. It's really on Bo
- 30:37Speaker 1: Nix to start playing a whole lot better. The Cardinals
- 30:40Speaker 1: are 2-4. Now, you've got to give them credit. They
- 30:45Speaker 1: took advantage of a Rams team that really played an
- 30:48Speaker 1: embarrassing game against them, if we're being honest. There were
- 30:51Speaker 1: a lot of things the Rams did wrong that led
- 30:54Speaker 1: to them losing that game. And shame on me for
- 30:56Speaker 1: taking the Rams with the points. to cover the points
- 30:58Speaker 1: 12 and a half last week, but they really are.
- 31:02Speaker 1: They are better. But the Rams gave that game away
- 31:06Speaker 1: five different ways. It's not like the Cardinals played great offensively.
- 31:10Speaker 1: They were lackluster. There is a report that their quarterback Beck,
- 31:16Speaker 1: the backup will not be really, they will not get
- 31:20Speaker 1: consideration until November. And he's actually hurt right now. He's,
- 31:23Speaker 1: he's been, he's had a back injury. So right now
- 31:28Speaker 1: it's Brissette, and there's really not much to look forward to.
- 31:32Speaker 1: They have a lot of injuries going into this game
- 31:34Speaker 1: against the Broncos. Buda Baker is hurt. Jeremiah Love's banged up.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Walter Nolan, who's a very nice defensive tackle in his
- 31:41Speaker 1: second year, playing pretty good. He's hurt too, so we'll see.
- 31:46Speaker 1: So this looks like, to me, another game, even though
- 31:49Speaker 1: it's on the road, that the Broncos, who are four-and-a-half-point favorites,
- 31:52Speaker 1: will probably win. They'll probably win it ugly. You'll probably
- 31:55Speaker 1: have the same amount of questions. So if the Cardinals win, man,
- 31:59Speaker 1: you got to start considering the job that that Michael
- 32:02Speaker 1: Floor is doing as head coach to be able to
- 32:04Speaker 1: beat the Rams and Broncos in back to back weeks.
- 32:07Speaker 1: But I really don't see that happening. Best game of
- 32:10Speaker 1: the week. Right. 425 Packers Lions in the national spotlight,
- 32:15Speaker 1: as it should be one of the best games of
- 32:17Speaker 1: the week. I mean, I think Chief Seahawks is really good, too.
- 32:20Speaker 1: We'll get to that in a second. But credit the Packers, man.
- 32:23Speaker 1: They have really I mean, they looked terrible. for the
- 32:28Speaker 1: first three weeks of the season. And they navigated it.
- 32:31Speaker 1: And I said, the Packers are a team that you
- 32:34Speaker 1: cannot give up on because they do have good talent,
- 32:39Speaker 1: got a good quarterback. They're very well coached. I thought
- 32:42Speaker 1: Jonathan Gannon would be okay with that defense if he
- 32:46Speaker 1: was creative with it, which he has been. You know,
- 32:48Speaker 1: it's unfortunate. Not only have they not had Micah Parsons,
- 32:50Speaker 1: they lost Edgerin Cooper, who is one of their best
- 32:53Speaker 1: pass rushing linebackers. But man, I mean, they dismantled the
- 32:57Speaker 1: Cowboys last week. They were in the Packers though. If
- 33:01Speaker 1: you're going to, if you're going to look underneath the
- 33:03Speaker 1: data and their hot streak and say, is there other
- 33:07Speaker 1: cracks in the foundation? They had 11 third downs in
- 33:11Speaker 1: the first half against Dallas. That average third, they were
- 33:15Speaker 1: an average of third and six. And yet they were,
- 33:18Speaker 1: I think 10 of 11 on those third downs. Thank you.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys defense. All right. They averaged 13 yards on third,
- 33:27Speaker 1: on an average of third and six against Dallas in
- 33:29Speaker 1: the first half. Did not have as much success in
- 33:31Speaker 1: the second half, but they did enough damage already in
- 33:34Speaker 1: their passing game. They also dropped a bunch of touchdowns
- 33:37Speaker 1: or else they could have had even more points than
- 33:41Speaker 1: they scored in that 24-14 win. But they really did
- 33:45Speaker 1: struggle on first and second down. Now they'll get Josh
- 33:48Speaker 1: Jacobs back. He's off the commissioner's exempt list. I guess
- 33:51Speaker 1: the legal troubles are now behind him unless something else
- 33:54Speaker 1: comes out. He will help. They're a run game. They
- 33:58Speaker 1: really want to be more balanced. The Packers have not
- 34:02Speaker 1: been able to be balanced. Matt LaFleur loves offensive balance,
- 34:06Speaker 1: but they've had no run game, so they haven't been balanced,
- 34:10Speaker 1: and that's forced them into a lot of long down
- 34:12Speaker 1: and distances, but you've got to give Jordan Love credit.
- 34:15Speaker 1: He has been fantastic this year. I just think that
- 34:19Speaker 1: when you play that way and you're the Packers, that's
- 34:22Speaker 1: not your identity, and it sets you up to struggle
- 34:26Speaker 1: more when you play some really good teams. And we'll see.
- 34:30Speaker 1: They're playing the Lions. It's a big NFC North game.
- 34:33Speaker 1: The Lions are at home. They're coming off a bye.
- 34:36Speaker 1: And the biggest thing for them is they're getting one
- 34:38Speaker 1: of their best players back on defense, which is their safety,
- 34:42Speaker 1: Brian Branch. He is so much of a difference maker
- 34:46Speaker 1: for what they do. He is not a conventional safety.
- 34:48Speaker 1: He plays everywhere on that defense. He is a traffic cop.
- 34:51Speaker 1: They're also getting back their center, Cade Mays, one of
- 34:54Speaker 1: their big free agent signings who had gotten hurt very early,
- 34:57Speaker 1: and that was a big part of some of the
- 34:59Speaker 1: issues they were having up front. But the Lions can score.
- 35:03Speaker 1: They've scored 26 points or more in every game. And
- 35:07Speaker 1: in their two losses, though, they've allowed 73 points. They
- 35:10Speaker 1: lost because they gave up a lot of points to Buffalo,
- 35:13Speaker 1: and they gave up a lot of points to Carolina.
- 35:14Speaker 1: When they face good offenses, they give up a lot
- 35:17Speaker 1: of points. But we'll see if having Brian Branch back
- 35:21Speaker 1: makes a difference. The Lions are one of those teams
- 35:24Speaker 1: I look at, and I say at the trade deadline,
- 35:26Speaker 1: they can get themselves a cornerback, if they can get
- 35:29Speaker 1: themselves a pass rusher, maybe both, they could be a very,
- 35:33Speaker 1: very dangerous team because their offense is a thing of beauty.
- 35:38Speaker 1: And this game will be a very interesting game because
- 35:41Speaker 1: the Packers are playing well. Again, Lions three-point favorites. I
- 35:44Speaker 1: think that's pretty fair. Could be anybody's game. Should be
- 35:47Speaker 1: a very, very exciting game. The other 425 game is
- 35:51Speaker 1: the Rams at the Raiders. I have a real issue
- 35:55Speaker 1: with how the Rams played against the Cardinals. You know,
- 35:58Speaker 1: obviously I said that there were a lot of factors
- 36:01Speaker 1: for why they lost that game. I mean, it starts
- 36:03Speaker 1: with the fact that their left tackle wasn't available because
- 36:07Speaker 1: he was a bonehead and threw a punch in the
- 36:09Speaker 1: post game two weeks ago and then got himself suspended. They,
- 36:17Speaker 1: I think that in general, Matthew Stafford has played a
- 36:21Speaker 1: very cavalier style of football. What I mean is he's
- 36:26Speaker 1: had more turnovers than you would expect. He fumbled. I mean,
- 36:29Speaker 1: he fumbled in that game trying to run around in
- 36:31Speaker 1: the pocket, and then the ball got loose. I mean,
- 36:35Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford can't do that. You can't do that. You
- 36:37Speaker 1: can't run around. You can't take your opponent lightly and
- 36:40Speaker 1: just carry the ball like a loaf of bread when
- 36:42Speaker 1: you're Matthew Stafford. All right? Then they lose Devontae Adams
- 36:46Speaker 1: for a long time. So not just a hamstring injury,
- 36:50Speaker 1: but a surgery. All right, Kyron Williams put himself in
- 36:54Speaker 1: the news after their loss to the Cardinals by saying
- 36:58Speaker 1: something along the lines of, I can't tell you what's
- 36:59Speaker 1: wrong with our offense because I'm not out there enough
- 37:02Speaker 1: because he's splitting time with Blake Corum. That is not
- 37:04Speaker 1: a problem. Blake Corum has played well. He had a
- 37:07Speaker 1: good game, and they should be splitting time. Kyron's a
- 37:10Speaker 1: good in-between tackles runner. Corum gives him a nice edge presence.
- 37:14Speaker 1: He's a little more explosive. They both catch the ball well.
- 37:17Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong. with their running back committee. So I
- 37:20Speaker 1: thought Kyron was a little bit out of line there.
- 37:23Speaker 1: And now the injuries just keep piling up for the Rams.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Puka gets hurt in practice, and he may not be
- 37:30Speaker 1: able to play. If you don't have Puka and you
- 37:34Speaker 1: know you don't have Devonta Adams, this team has no
- 37:37Speaker 1: depth at wide receiver. You're looking at Kanata Mumford. You're
- 37:40Speaker 1: looking at Jordan Whittington. You want to play more tight ends,
- 37:44Speaker 1: but you have Terrence Ferguson on IR. I mean, the
- 37:47Speaker 1: Rams– are in a really bad way here. And they've
- 37:51Speaker 1: bought themselves no currency by being 2-4. They could lose
- 37:56Speaker 1: this game against the Raiders. Now, if they can somehow
- 38:00Speaker 1: figure out a way to win it and get to 3-4,
- 38:01Speaker 1: they're supposed to get Myles Garrett back after this game.
- 38:06Speaker 1: That'll be big for them. If they can beat 3-4,
- 38:09Speaker 1: they've got the Chargers, the Commanders, a rematch against the
- 38:13Speaker 1: Cardinals in the next three weeks. So there'll be an
- 38:15Speaker 1: opportunity here. to get right. But I don't know at
- 38:18Speaker 1: this point if they can do that with all their
- 38:20Speaker 1: injuries on offense. I mean, if they lose this game
- 38:24Speaker 1: and fall to two and five, who will they be?
- 38:29Speaker 1: Very perilous times for the Rams. I still think the
- 38:32Speaker 1: Rams are going to make the playoffs. I do. I do.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I know it's going to be tough because it looks
- 38:37Speaker 1: like the Niners will win their division and maybe get
- 38:39Speaker 1: a top seed. And then you're going to have to
- 38:41Speaker 1: fight for a wild card berth and you're already fighting
- 38:44Speaker 1: with the Seahawks in your own division for a wild
- 38:46Speaker 1: card berth. And the NFC North looks like it could
- 38:49Speaker 1: send multiple teams. I'm not going to throw the towel
- 38:53Speaker 1: in on the Rams, even if they lose to the Raiders.
- 38:56Speaker 1: But if they do, they might be one or two
- 38:58Speaker 1: game losses away from me throwing the towel in on them.
- 39:01Speaker 1: And God, would that be an amazingly disappointing season for
- 39:05Speaker 1: a team that many people, myself included, had in the
- 39:08Speaker 1: Super Bowl. As for the Raiders, they lost three straight.
- 39:12Speaker 1: They are crashing back to earth. I thought maybe we'd
- 39:15Speaker 1: be getting closer to Fernando Mendoza. If they lose to
- 39:19Speaker 1: the Rams, maybe they will. But I know that there's
- 39:21Speaker 1: a report that they are not close to naming him
- 39:24Speaker 1: as a starter. You know, he got in a couple
- 39:26Speaker 1: weeks ago when they were getting blown out, but they
- 39:29Speaker 1: apparently don't look ready to go to Mendoza just yet.
- 39:34Speaker 1: We'll see. I am keeping tabs on their running back
- 39:37Speaker 1: situation because, you know, the kid they drafted on day three,
- 39:40Speaker 1: Mike Washington, he's a pretty good running back, and he's
- 39:43Speaker 1: doing well, whereas the kid that they took in the
- 39:46Speaker 1: top ten, Ashton Gentry, continues to struggle from an efficiency standpoint.
- 39:51Speaker 1: They give him the ball enough so he comes out
- 39:53Speaker 1: of the game and you see that he's got so-and-so
- 39:56Speaker 1: amount of yards. So maybe you think he played well,
- 39:59Speaker 1: but it's really not the case. He has not been
- 40:01Speaker 1: that efficient. And so we'll see if Mike Washington starts
- 40:07Speaker 1: to get more run in their offense and starts to
- 40:11Speaker 1: do more for them per se. I mean, they scored
- 40:15Speaker 1: 30 points. against the Bills. That was not an easy
- 40:19Speaker 1: win for the Bills like I thought it would be.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Jenty had 22 yards on 10 carries. Washington had 43
- 40:26Speaker 1: yards on 9 carries. So he basically had double the
- 40:30Speaker 1: yards that Jenty did on one fewer carry. Jenty had
- 40:34Speaker 1: a couple of catches. Washington only had one. I'm not
- 40:37Speaker 1: sure Washington catches the ball as well as Jenty, so
- 40:40Speaker 1: that might be one of the reasons they don't fully
- 40:42Speaker 1: turn it over to him. But I think the Raiders
- 40:46Speaker 1: might have really messed up in that draft to get
- 40:48Speaker 1: him that high. 8 o'clock Sunday night game. Really exciting game.
- 40:54Speaker 1: The Chiefs are going into Seattle. So this is the
- 40:57Speaker 1: Kenneth Walker return to Seattle. And Kenneth Walker is showing
- 41:03Speaker 1: that even though he won a Super Bowl and was
- 41:05Speaker 1: a Super Bowl MVP in Seattle, that Seattle's offensive line
- 41:10Speaker 1: was a true limiter to how good Kenneth Walker is
- 41:13Speaker 1: because Walker has been I mentioned that your MVP candidates
- 41:17Speaker 1: right now would be either Josh Allen or Bryce Purdy.
- 41:23Speaker 1: I think you would have to consider Kenneth Walker as
- 41:26Speaker 1: Offensive Player of the Year candidate because he has been
- 41:29Speaker 1: amazing for the Chiefs. Six rushing touchdowns. I think he
- 41:33Speaker 1: has a couple of receiving touchdowns. 665 rushing yards. I mean,
- 41:37Speaker 1: he's just been the engine of a Chiefs offense that
- 41:41Speaker 1: doesn't have much in terms of explosive playmakers. We talked
- 41:45Speaker 1: about the fact that they don't have Tyquan Thornton, who's injured,
- 41:48Speaker 1: and he was one of their only downfield threat. This
- 41:53Speaker 1: is another team, an undefeated team, that I think you
- 41:59Speaker 1: wonder when's that first loss coming, and here they go
- 42:01Speaker 1: into Seattle. I don't like this matchup for them. The
- 42:03Speaker 1: Chiefs have major injuries on their offensive line. They have
- 42:06Speaker 1: not been able to get Justin Simmons in at left tackle.
- 42:09Speaker 1: They've been playing and getting by on an undrafted rookie
- 42:12Speaker 1: left tackle. Got to give them a lot of credit.
- 42:14Speaker 1: But that will catch up to you when you face
- 42:16Speaker 1: some really good defensive fronts like Seattle's. And oh, by
- 42:19Speaker 1: the way, their right tackle, Jalen Moore, I believe is
- 42:22Speaker 1: out for the game. So they'll be on backups at
- 42:25Speaker 1: both offensive tackle spots. And when you already have backups
- 42:29Speaker 1: on your offensive line and you're missing your best downfield
- 42:32Speaker 1: threat wide receiver and you're really just trying to run
- 42:35Speaker 1: and Rasheed Rice has also been hurt and you're going
- 42:39Speaker 1: into Seattle who has been up and down but they
- 42:43Speaker 1: still have a very good defensive front. They're coming off
- 42:46Speaker 1: two losses. I told you guys last week, even though
- 42:48Speaker 1: they lost 17-14 to the Broncos, I think that was
- 42:51Speaker 1: that Thursday night game, I almost felt better about them
- 42:54Speaker 1: and their future than Denver's future. There's just too many
- 42:58Speaker 1: turnovers by Sam Darnold. Some of that is because the
- 43:02Speaker 1: offensive line isn't very good. Some of that is just
- 43:04Speaker 1: unluckiness that you get. I mean, Darnold was turnover prone
- 43:08Speaker 1: last year, and they won the Super Bowl. But things change.
- 43:12Speaker 1: But this is a good opportunity for the Seahawks to
- 43:14Speaker 1: face the Chiefs when the Chiefs are banged up and
- 43:18Speaker 1: to get back in the win column after two straight losses.
- 43:21Speaker 1: They're three-point favorites at home. And the one thing that
- 43:25Speaker 1: stands out about me is that Jackson Smith and Jigba
- 43:30Speaker 1: is just an unstoppable force. He's already got 700 yards
- 43:33Speaker 1: and seven touchdowns. I mean, it's basically him and Kenneth Walker,
- 43:37Speaker 1: the two leading candidates for Offensive Player of the Year,
- 43:41Speaker 1: along with Jameer Gibbs. Got to throw him in that
- 43:43Speaker 1: category as well. I mean, those three guys, if you're
- 43:46Speaker 1: not going to get MVP, you're talking about Offensive Player
- 43:48Speaker 1: of the Year. And Smith and Jigman is just unbelievable
- 43:51Speaker 1: because there's really not a whole lot of weaponry around them.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Darnold has had his struggles, and yet he continues to
- 43:58Speaker 1: just be phenomenal. This should be a good game, but
- 44:02Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if the Chiefs got tripped up here.
- 44:05Speaker 1: I'm not going to go into the Monday night game
- 44:06Speaker 1: too much. It's Cowboys-Eagles. We'll have that covered, of course,
- 44:09Speaker 1: on the Inside the Birds pregame show. I'll just leave
- 44:12Speaker 1: you with this. I talked about it at the top
- 44:14Speaker 1: of the show. When some of these teams start losing
- 44:17Speaker 1: and downward spiraling and we get closer to the trade
- 44:19Speaker 1: deadline and you have tradable pieces like the Eagles do,
- 44:24Speaker 1: it'll become a storyline. The Eagles lose this game, fall
- 44:28Speaker 1: to 2-5. You're going to hear names like Saquon Barkley,
- 44:32Speaker 1: Dallas Goddard, Morua Jomo. Rick Woolen, those names will start
- 44:38Speaker 1: to come up in trade discussions. If not from the teams,
- 44:42Speaker 1: I'm talking about at least the media, and I'm sure
- 44:44Speaker 1: there'll be some phone calls made about the availability. And
- 44:48Speaker 1: then it'll be very interesting for the Eagles to have
- 44:51Speaker 1: to make that decision that I talked about with the Giants, right?
- 44:54Speaker 1: Do you even at two and five say, hey, we
- 44:57Speaker 1: still have a chance to win the NFC East and
- 44:59Speaker 1: that's all that's important? Or do you start to look
- 45:01Speaker 1: at the long-term with everything going on around you and say,
- 45:06Speaker 1: Time to pawn off what we can and rebuild. That'll
- 45:09Speaker 1: be a very interesting topic for the Eagles to have
- 45:13Speaker 1: to discuss internally if they lose this game, and especially
- 45:16Speaker 1: if they lose it badly to the Dallas Cowboys, who
- 45:19Speaker 1: have their own issues. Cowboys are four and a half
- 45:22Speaker 1: point favorites on the road. So I believe now this
- 45:24Speaker 1: is the second straight week that the Eagles are going
- 45:27Speaker 1: to be underdogs at home, which... It's probably been a
- 45:31Speaker 1: long time since you could say that. Okay. You know,
- 45:33Speaker 1: those pieces in your closet that you find yourself wearing
- 45:36Speaker 1: on repeat. There's the sweater that goes with everything, or
- 45:39Speaker 1: you get the perfect pair of jeans, that t-shirt that
- 45:41Speaker 1: you just always reach for first. All right. Those are
- 45:43Speaker 1: the pieces that make getting dressed easy. And that's actually

- 48:17Speaker 1: up uh and now it's time for my three picks
- 48:20Speaker 1: now you're gonna hear me complain like an old man
- 48:23Speaker 1: that's fine but I thought I was snapping back last week.
- 48:27Speaker 1: I was 1-1 because I won on the Steelers covering
- 48:31Speaker 1: their 2.5 against the Bucs. They won with an overtime touchdown.
- 48:35Speaker 1: I lost on the Rams covering 12.5 against the Cards.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Last time I probably ticked the Rams. But I was
- 48:42Speaker 1: 1-1 going into the Sunday night game, and the Niners
- 48:47Speaker 1: were 7.5-point favorites against Washington, and I took it. And
- 48:53Speaker 1: I felt really good. I'm sorry, Monday night game. I
- 48:56Speaker 1: felt really good about them covering when they were up
- 48:59Speaker 1: 23 to three going into the fourth. You're up 20
- 49:03Speaker 1: and you're laying, you're, you know, covering seven and a
- 49:05Speaker 1: half asked to cover seven and a half against Washington
- 49:08Speaker 1: as depleted as Washington is. I was, I was pretty
- 49:12Speaker 1: happy with that. Then Washington gets a touchdown. Okay. It's 23-10.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Then Washington gets another touchdown. Ah, it's 23-17. And the
- 49:20Speaker 1: next thing I know, I lose my cover, and I
- 49:23Speaker 1: go 1-2, and I fall to 5-10, which was very
- 49:26Speaker 1: discouraging because I thought I was going to have a
- 49:28Speaker 1: 2-1 week in the bag. So here we go again
- 49:31Speaker 1: this week. We'll see if I can do better. All right,
- 49:34Speaker 1: I am taking the Seahawks to cover 3 at home
- 49:38Speaker 1: against the Chiefs. I think you can tell by the
- 49:40Speaker 1: way I was talking about that game. I like Seattle
- 49:43Speaker 1: to bounce back. They've lost two in a row, haven't
- 49:45Speaker 1: played that badly, but they have lost two in a row,
- 49:48Speaker 1: and I think they're catching the Chiefs at a time
- 49:50Speaker 1: where the Chiefs will get tripped up with their offensive
- 49:53Speaker 1: line injuries. I'm going to take the Vikings, giving six
- 49:57Speaker 1: and a half at home to the Colts. I think
- 49:59Speaker 1: the Colts are in disarray. I don't love the Vikings offense,
- 50:03Speaker 1: but when they have played bad teams, they have generally
- 50:06Speaker 1: come through. They will get Jordan Mason back, so they
- 50:08Speaker 1: should add some firepower to their run game. And I
- 50:12Speaker 1: think the Colts are going to be without Swass Gardner,
- 50:14Speaker 1: without Tyler Warren. They played badly to begin with. I
- 50:17Speaker 1: don't think the firing of the GM gives a team
- 50:19Speaker 1: a spark like the firing of a head coach does.
- 50:22Speaker 1: So I don't think the Colts are going to come
- 50:24Speaker 1: out and, you know, play one to honor Chris Ballard.
- 50:26Speaker 1: I think they're going to lose and lose badly to
- 50:29Speaker 1: the Vikings coming off that bye. And I'm going to
- 50:31Speaker 1: take the Panthers. I think the Panthers are smelling blood
- 50:35Speaker 1: in the water here. They're three point favorites at home
- 50:37Speaker 1: against the Bucs. I mentioned the Bucs had some key injuries.
- 50:41Speaker 1: Mayfield will come back, so maybe it's a risk for
- 50:43Speaker 1: me doing this. But if the Bucs lose this game,
- 50:46Speaker 1: you can pretty much flush their season down the drain.
- 50:49Speaker 1: And I think the Panthers would love to be the
- 50:51Speaker 1: one to do that. So I'll take the Panthers as
- 50:53Speaker 1: three-point favorites over the Bucs. That's it. That's my analysis.
- 50:58Speaker 1: That is my picks. All that's left is for the
- 51:00Speaker 1: game to be played. So everybody, like I tell you
- 51:03Speaker 1: every weekend, please enjoy your Week 7 football watching. This
- 51:06Speaker 1: is Jeff Mosher. for the Inside the Birds Week 7 preview.
