Security Guard Charged in River Murder | Guyana News
A 27-year-old private security guard, Ormyous Vieira, faces murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing 32-year-old miner Ceton Mark Courtman in the Cuyuni River area. The confrontation reportedly erupted in an argument, leading Vieira to fire a fatal shot to Courtman’s head. Courtman died en route to the hospital. Police recovered a .32 caliber pistol and 12 bullets from the suspect. Vieira, who remains in custody until August 13, 2026, has not yet entered a plea as the case moves forward.
