- 0:19The puck will be in the nets before anyone realizes it.
- 0:22And on goes the light, signifying the goal.

- 0:44The game started and the two teams tried desperately to score a goal.
- 0:48In hockey, the team that scores first usually has the advantage.
- 0:52But it doesn't always hold true.
- 0:54The first period ended in a scoreless tie.
- 0:57In the second period, the opposing goalies were busy men, but still no goals.
- 1:02As the fans took a break before the final period got underway, they wondered who would dent the nets first.
- 1:07Montreal fans cheered their team on as the final period started.
- 1:11There were ohs and ahs as the home team missed one chance after another to score.
- 1:15But the Red Wings weren't having any luck either.
- 1:18The seconds ticked away.
- 1:20And finally, the buzzer sounded, ending the game.
- 1:23The Red Wings team had scored.
- 1:25This meant a sudden death playoff.
- 1:27Still no score.
- 1:29A second overtime period.
- 1:31Some fans left the arena, but the team struggled from one end of the ice to the other.
- 1:36The second overtime period ended in a scoreless deadlock.
- 1:39More fans headed for home.
- 1:41The third overtime started and both sides failed to score.
- 1:44The minutes ticked away.
- 1:46And another overtime period was history.
- 1:48The fourth overtime.
- 1:50And then the fifth came and went.
- 1:52Still no score.
- 1:53There were still a number of diehard fans in the seats until the sixth overtime period got underway.
- 1:57In 60 seconds, we'll return to find out if anyone scored in this hockey thrower.
- 2:02It was well past midnight as the players returned to the ice for overtime period number six.
- 2:07They looked weary and just dragged themselves onto the ice.
- 2:10The fans also retired.
- 2:12How long could it go on?
- 2:13Then, suddenly, at 16 minutes and 30 seconds of the sixth overtime, a goal.
- 2:18Heck, Kilroy had passed to Mudd Brunetaw for the score.
- 2:23Detroit had won.
- 2:24A goal had been scored after a total of 176 minutes and 30 seconds of playing time.
- 2:29And fans wearily filed out of Montreal Arena at 2.30 in the morning.
- 2:34But even though the game had dragged on for nearly five hours, they had seen one of the greatest hockey games ever played.
