- 0:04Good morning. This is the Sacramento Brief, your
- 0:08weekday roundup of overnight headlines and what's
- 0:11ahead across the city. I'm Carol. It's Monday,
- 0:16December 1st, 2025. Let's get you caught up.
- 0:19I have breaking news out of South Sacramento,
- 0:22where sheriff's deputies have a perimeter around
- 0:25the Stillman Park trailer park. After a suspect
- 0:28fleeing a domestic violence call fired at least
- 0:31one shot at deputies near Martin Luther King
- 0:33Jr. Boulevard and 44th Avenue. The deputy was
- 0:37not hit and did not return fire. Several outside
- 0:41agencies are assisting and authorities are asking
- 0:44the public to stay clear of the area. The Sacramento
- 0:49Police and Sheriff's Office handled a string
- 0:51of cases over the weekend. Patrol's officers
- 0:54made several arrests citywide, recovering two
- 0:57stolen vehicles after a short pursuit in South
- 1:00Sacramento, one near Freeport and Blair, the
- 1:04other near Meadowview and Detroit. In another
- 1:08incident, they were able to nab a bike thief
- 1:10in downtown near 10th and J Street with the help
- 1:13from network cameras. Another incident led to
- 1:18at least The arrest of one driver with an illegal
- 1:22and loaded firearm in the 4500 block of Martin
- 1:26Luther King Jr. Boulevard. And officers picked
- 1:29up a wanted driver in a stolen vehicle near Marconi

- 1:42of pulling a knife on a victim and a 25 -year
- 1:45-old who allegedly stole a wallet. and used several
- 1:50credit cards. Both suspects are now in custody.
- 1:53In City Watch, the Sacramento County Youth Commission
- 1:57will meet tonight, 700 H Street, at 6 .15 p .m.
- 2:04And on the agenda for discussion, the City Department
- 2:08of Utilities' long -running high school summer
- 2:11student program. For nearly 20 years, the Department
- 2:16of Utilities has hired Sacramento teens for paid
- 2:20summer work across water, drainage, wastewater,
- 2:23engineering, and lab services. The program was
- 2:27paused during the pandemic and again last year
- 2:29for budget reasons. Only six students were hired
- 2:33this past summer. But historically, it has brought
- 2:3815 to 25 students on board, with some returning
- 2:41for full -time city jobs. It's all part of the
- 2:45city's push to connect local youth with real
- 2:48career pathways. The Sacramento County Youth

- 2:54during the meeting regarding future access to
