- 0:00Speaker 1: You may have noticed that Gina was gone for a
- 0:03Speaker 1: couple of weeks.
- 0:04Speaker 2: She was went to Japan.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Planned this trip a long time ago because my sailor
- 0:13Speaker 3: Sun Festus is stationed at a place where the easiest
- 0:17Speaker 3: place for him to meet us would be Tokyo, and
- 0:22Speaker 3: he actually went to Tokyo back in March. He's like, it's great,
- 0:26Speaker 3: you guys should come here and I will meet you.
- 0:29Speaker 3: And I said, absolutely, we will do that. And then
- 0:32Speaker 3: there was a war.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Yeah, little thing, so uh, but we.
- 0:37Speaker 2: We kept the the the trip.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Anyway, if you go to x ninety six dot com
- 0:41Speaker 3: slash live, you'll be able to see some pictures. Now,
- 0:43Speaker 3: the picture I'm showing you now is a picture of
- 0:46Speaker 3: when Festus went in March. And Carrie, forgive me because
- 0:49Speaker 3: you've been to Japan and we may have talked about
- 0:51Speaker 3: some of these things.
- 0:52Speaker 2: What's for trip there? Did you visit this statue at
- 0:56Speaker 2: Shibuyu station?
- 0:57Speaker 4: Tell people, oh you didn't.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Okay, okay. So this is the Hatchiko statue.
- 1:05Speaker 3: It is a statue of a dog. It is an
- 1:07Speaker 3: Akita dog. And this is the saddest story ever. So
- 1:11Speaker 3: this dog's owner went to the Shibuya station in Tokyo
- 1:17Speaker 3: every day to go to work. The dog would follow
- 1:20Speaker 3: him and see him off on the train. And I
- 1:24Speaker 3: believe he was a university professor of some sort. And
- 1:28Speaker 3: every day the dog would walk him to the train
- 1:30Speaker 3: and he would go to work, and.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Then the dog would go home. And then around you know.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Five o'clock when it was time for the dog for
- 1:36Speaker 3: him to come back home from work, the dog would
- 1:38Speaker 3: come meet him at the station.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Well, one day, this guy died of a heart attack
- 1:44Speaker 2: at work.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Oh for ten years after this guy died at work,
- 1:52Speaker 3: the dog came to the station every day.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So this is this is Fry and his dog from
- 2:00Speaker 1: future Alma.
- 2:03Speaker 4: This is a great way to kick off your stories, Gina.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Well, the reason I'm telling you this is so the
- 2:09Speaker 3: statue is very famous. There's a line of people outside
- 2:12Speaker 3: the statue all day every day to take pictures. Festus
- 2:15Speaker 3: took a picture there in March, and so I had
- 2:18Speaker 3: Jonesy and Mohammed pose next to the statue, leaving a
- 2:22Speaker 3: space for Festus so we could sort of pretend.
- 2:26Speaker 4: So Festus is sort of like the dog who goes
- 2:29Speaker 4: to the goes to the station every day.
- 2:34Speaker 1: So you can just photoshop yeah, fastest into the Yeah.
- 2:37Speaker 2: So we can pretend we were all there.
- 2:41Speaker 3: So that's why we were going to Japan. My thoughts
- 2:46Speaker 3: on Tokyo.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yes, there are fourteen million.
- 2:52Speaker 3: People in Tokyo, not in Japan, in Tokyo. And that's
- 2:58Speaker 3: in Tokyo, just the city. The surrounding area thirty three
- 3:04Speaker 3: million people. There are only three and a.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Half million people in the entire state of Utah.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, it's a big city.
- 3:16Speaker 3: It's a big city. Yeah, it's immaculately clean. There is
- 3:22Speaker 3: not a scrap of paper on the ground anywhere in
- 3:27Speaker 3: the subway, in an alley.
- 3:31Speaker 4: It is you know why that is? Japanese people are
- 3:37Speaker 4: better than we are.
- 3:38Speaker 2: No, this is what I.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Wanted to talk about. We're on the subway and there's
- 3:44Speaker 3: a guy.
- 3:45Speaker 2: His umbrella is up on a shelf and he can't
- 3:47Speaker 2: quite reach it. He takes his shoe off to stand
- 3:52Speaker 2: on the seat to reach his umbrella.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Oh yeah, there was one to stand on the seat
- 3:57Speaker 4: with his shoes on it.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Because it'll get the next person who sits down, it'll
- 4:00Speaker 1: be dirty.
- 4:01Speaker 4: I'm not sure. I'm not sure why one of you
- 4:03Speaker 4: didn't help him. Why did you help him?
- 4:06Speaker 3: It is a culture of people that care about where
- 4:14Speaker 3: they live and they're surroundings.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Yeah, if there'd been, if he'd been next to a
- 4:19Speaker 4: Japanese person, they would have helped him.
- 4:21Speaker 2: They are they are all. They are.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Wonderfully nice, polite, helpful, every single one of them. But
- 4:32Speaker 3: what I don't understand is why we can't adopt that attitude.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Here because we're Americans, Gina.
- 4:41Speaker 3: There are way more people there and there, and there
- 4:43Speaker 3: are no trash cans anywhere.
- 4:45Speaker 4: That's not the way we do things in America.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Okay, now that that I found inconvenient.
- 4:50Speaker 2: There are no trash cans anywhere.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Because you're not supposed to get food and walk. No, yeah,
- 4:57Speaker 1: you know, you're not supposed to do that.
- 4:58Speaker 2: So you have to carry you're you have to carry
- 5:01Speaker 2: like a bag with you.
- 5:02Speaker 3: But you would think that would mean that there would
- 5:04Speaker 3: be more trash on the ground because there's no can
- 5:07Speaker 3: to put it in.
- 5:07Speaker 4: No, there's not, so so you just you just put
- 5:13Speaker 4: it in your pocket or something.
- 5:15Speaker 2: You carry it out like we had a little plastic bag.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Now you can go to the seven eleven, which those
- 5:20Speaker 3: are amazing, and they have a garbage can inside the
- 5:23Speaker 3: seven eleven. But other than that, you carry your garbage
- 5:27Speaker 3: with you all day.
- 5:31Speaker 2: So the the food situation.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Oh I saw what was that Godzilla picture?
- 5:37Speaker 3: Oh so that's at the airport. Godzilla is at the
- 5:40Speaker 3: airport greeting.
- 5:41Speaker 4: You wellfessonal hero.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah, welcome, welcome to Tokyo.
- 5:46Speaker 4: You know, Godzil Godzilla is a national hero because after
- 5:50Speaker 4: the war he saved the Japanese economy. He did, I
- 5:54Speaker 4: mean essentially a lot of it.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:57Speaker 3: The food situation, okay, So I I made reservations at
- 6:02Speaker 3: some different sorts of places.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Yes, the first place, I'm curious as to who allowed
- 6:09Speaker 4: you to do that.
- 6:10Speaker 3: The first place I made them because Mohammed, my son,
- 6:14Speaker 3: not the prophet, likes the places where you get like
- 6:17Speaker 3: a hot stone and you cook meat on a hot stone. Okay,
- 6:21Speaker 3: So I found a place that does that. We get
- 6:25Speaker 3: to the place and the waitress comes to the table
- 6:27Speaker 3: and she points to the menu, and I sent the
- 6:29Speaker 3: menu to you, to Katie, you.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Know what those places are called, don't you, hot Stone
- 6:34Speaker 4: cooking places.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Stone cooking places.
- 6:37Speaker 3: And she just sort of gestured at the menu and
- 6:40Speaker 3: then nodded at us, like.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Is this what we're doing? And I went, yeah, let
- 6:45Speaker 2: me read to you what what was brought to the team.
- 6:49Speaker 4: I can't read it. If it was it in English.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Here it is in English.
- 6:53Speaker 4: The men was not in English.
- 6:55Speaker 2: They had both.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Salad with onion dressing, good Wygo sushi, Yeah, thick sliced
- 7:06Speaker 3: Wygo tongue, Wygo sirloin, broil, Wygo ribs, Wygo upper ribs,
- 7:13Speaker 3: Wygo lean meat, lump of Wygo meat, marbled Wygo beef,
- 7:17Speaker 3: lean Wygo beef, sliced outside skirt, shoulderlin, Korean sushi, roll oxtail, soup, ramen, noodles,
- 7:26Speaker 3: and use subert.
- 7:27Speaker 4: And you get all of that, all of that, but
- 7:30Speaker 4: not huge portions of it.
- 7:32Speaker 3: No, it's it was I don't know who can eat
- 7:35Speaker 3: all of theirs.
- 7:36Speaker 4: It was for your whole family though, Yeah.
- 7:38Speaker 3: But all of them, all of that way too much meat.
- 7:44Speaker 3: You would not think, I would say, way too much meat.
- 7:46Speaker 3: And they just kept bringing it and bringing well.
- 7:49Speaker 4: As you ate it, they saw it was gone, they
- 7:52Speaker 4: bring you some more.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Well, they know, even if it wasn't gone, they kept
- 7:56Speaker 3: bringing in. Now you saw on their thick iced Wygu tongue.
- 8:03Speaker 3: So so actually you can see that X and I
- 8:05Speaker 3: six dot com slash live. That's the tongue that's on
- 8:08Speaker 3: the stone right there. I thought I was being sneaky.
- 8:13Speaker 3: So the first item I told you you got was
- 8:15Speaker 3: a salad. I had the salad next to me, and
- 8:20Speaker 3: I sort of was hiding the tongue under the lettuce.
- 8:26Speaker 4: On, so you were going to waste the tongue.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I didn't want to eat the tongue. But my daughter,
- 8:36Speaker 2: who who I am, shocked, I ate every single including
- 8:43Speaker 2: the tongue, did not. I tried it.
- 8:45Speaker 4: It's delicious. It's just very well, that's tongue tongue, like
- 8:52Speaker 4: on a tongue sandwich. It's very tender.
- 8:55Speaker 1: It's got to be sliced really thin and cooked just right.
- 8:58Speaker 3: I well in this says it's not. It was thick
- 9:01Speaker 3: sliced tongue, is what they brought. Yeah, that's the problem
- 9:04Speaker 3: I I and I could I maybe if I didn't
- 9:07Speaker 3: know that it was tongue, you could have gotten over.
- 9:10Speaker 4: It because it tastes because Gina, it tastes like beef.
- 9:14Speaker 4: That's what it tastes.
- 9:15Speaker 3: But I hid it in my salad, and my kids
- 9:17Speaker 3: are like, Mom, I we can see you.
- 9:19Speaker 2: You can see you know, you're riding the tongue. So
- 9:24Speaker 2: that was one night.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Yeah, uh, another night I did this for my husband.
- 9:32Speaker 3: We booked a fancy dinner at a Michelin Star restaurant.
- 9:36Speaker 4: Nice of what kind of cuisine?
- 9:39Speaker 3: It was sushi, And I said, if we're gonna have
- 9:43Speaker 3: sushi and I am going to try this and eat it,
- 9:46Speaker 3: we will go to a nice place.
- 9:51Speaker 4: And this was this was a very nice place, so
- 9:54Speaker 4: Michelin's rest. So you said, of course, and you kids
- 9:56Speaker 4: can't come right?
- 9:58Speaker 2: Well, no, you let it.
- 10:00Speaker 4: No, that's what I would have done. No, we're gonna go.
- 10:03Speaker 4: You got you kids can't come. This is too nice.
- 10:06Speaker 5: And I want a lifetime ban on harassing me for
- 10:12Speaker 5: eating well because I ate I don't know what that.
- 10:16Speaker 2: I think it was tuna, but.
- 10:18Speaker 4: I ate that you look like you're about to fall
- 10:21Speaker 4: off to die or something.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Yes, it was scary for me.
- 10:26Speaker 4: And what did you think of it?
- 10:28Speaker 2: The texture of it was was velvety. I would say,
- 10:34Speaker 2: I ate that.
- 10:35Speaker 4: And it doesn't really taste like fish.
- 10:37Speaker 2: No, I ate fish eggs.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't care for that myself.
- 10:44Speaker 3: I ate caviar, the different things though, Tabico.
- 10:52Speaker 4: Orange, yeah, that's tobico. I think it is.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I ate those.
- 10:57Speaker 4: I think we have it in my refrigerator right now.
- 11:01Speaker 2: I want pats on the back.
- 11:06Speaker 6: You're not going to get pat on the back right away.
- 11:08Speaker 6: First of all, kudos for wearing a color you can
- 11:15Speaker 6: for wearing red. I appreciate that.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Secondly, all I'm seeing you is holding it up to
- 11:21Speaker 1: your mouth.
- 11:23Speaker 4: This is not proof of digestion, proof of mastication and
- 11:29Speaker 4: digestion exactly.
- 11:31Speaker 2: My family will buld back me up if you don't believe.
- 11:34Speaker 4: No, I believe you because you did say it was velvety.
- 11:37Speaker 4: And that's a pretty good description. Oh I believe that.
- 11:43Speaker 2: I hate it now. But and now I can say
- 11:47Speaker 2: I have had it.
- 11:48Speaker 4: And now you can say I will never do it again.
- 11:52Speaker 2: I don't have to. I did it, all right. No,
- 11:58Speaker 2: that's all I'm getting.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Remains to be saying. I just wanted video of you
- 12:01Speaker 1: putting it in your mouth and chewing.
- 12:03Speaker 4: You know. I will confess to you, this sushi is
- 12:07Speaker 4: not one of my favorite things in the world. I'll
- 12:10Speaker 4: eat you like some of the fried you know.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Yeah, this was not a role.
- 12:17Speaker 4: I don't. I don't care for sashimi much myself. I mean,
- 12:21Speaker 4: I've eaten it, and yeah it didn't scare me. But
- 12:23Speaker 4: this is I just don't like it.
- 12:24Speaker 6: But this is Michelin star stuff, right, and you just
- 12:28Speaker 6: kind of yeah, yeah, but I did it.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Well, congratulations.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I don't have to like it.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Did you hear that I said? Congratulations?
- 12:38Speaker 1: Congratulations for wearing color.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Until I see some more
- 12:43Speaker 3: Evidence, I'll have more stories next week
