- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Okay, here we go.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Where the plays get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Dude, they said I gotta come off the bench.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench, live from the Raising
- 0:12Speaker 1: Cane Studio.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Yo welcome back here off the bench live from our
- 0:42Speaker 3: houses here on burbank on a football friday uh getting
- 0:47Speaker 3: you ready our number two i guess the kids are
- 0:49Speaker 3: all dropped off now at school jacob's getting ready probably
- 0:55Speaker 3: to say curse word who really knows Uh, but we
- 0:57Speaker 3: are getting you ready right here. And we hadn't talked
- 0:59Speaker 3: a lot about the game just because we wanted to
- 1:01Speaker 3: save it for this hour. Number two, but we're getting
- 1:03Speaker 3: you ready for the big, it's called analytics of radio.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Okay. 8 AM is our biggest listening hour.
- 1:08Speaker 4: So we saved it for eight Oh one to make
- 1:10Speaker 4: sure we had peak viewers and listeners.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Is that what we did?
- 1:15Speaker 3: Or were you just like get a little ADD and
- 1:17Speaker 3: saw some squirrels in the first hour?
- 1:18Speaker 2: Completely ADD. Yeah. I know we're supposed to think like that,
- 1:21Speaker 2: but we don't.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Um, It's a big opportunity for LSU because it's a
- 1:30Speaker 4: ranked opponent. You got beat last week in the game
- 1:33Speaker 4: that everybody talked about for 10 months.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yada, yada, yada. Yeah, didn't feel great. I was there.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Not fun.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Not a fun drive back to Memphis, Tennessee to fly out.
- 1:41Speaker 4: But you've got a team that's ranked, a team that's
- 1:43Speaker 4: beaten you twice in a row, a team that beat
- 1:46Speaker 4: you in your stadium, took over your stadium last year.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Never want that to happen again. Okay?
- 1:52Speaker 4: And if you go out there and you handle business–
- 1:56Speaker 4: you'll be right back in the conversation.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Now, you didn't get out of it. You're number 10
- 2:00Speaker 2: in the country.
- 2:02Speaker 4: But I'm saying just, I think everybody will say, you
- 2:04Speaker 4: know what, for whatever, the Ole Miss game was the
- 2:07Speaker 4: Ole Miss game. You hit a little bit of a reset.
- 2:10Speaker 4: You lost that game. Can you bounce back? Can you
- 2:13Speaker 4: do it against a good football team? And you do
- 2:15Speaker 4: all those things, then I think everything in front of
- 2:19Speaker 4: you is still there, obviously.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I think you get some real momentum from it.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Winning this game, even though you're the favorite by eight
- 2:30Speaker 4: and a half or seven and a half, whatever the
- 2:31Speaker 4: line is, I don't even care. Like, that can do
- 2:34Speaker 4: some heavy lifting for the next couple of weeks for you.
- 2:37Speaker 2: You've got McNeese. You're going to win that one, okay?
- 2:41Speaker 4: And then it gets interesting. Then you go on the
- 2:43Speaker 4: road to Kentucky, who just beat Texas A & M.
- 2:46Speaker 4: And then you welcome in Mississippi State and Camario Taylor,
- 2:49Speaker 4: who that guy is electric.
- 2:51Speaker 2: All right? So, you, like, The last thing that you
- 2:56Speaker 2: want to do is lose this game.
- 2:57Speaker 4: You use up all your mulligans, and then you've got
- 3:00Speaker 4: those tricky games with teams that are good enough to
- 3:04Speaker 4: compete and beat you. This one sets momentum back into place,
- 3:09Speaker 4: I think, and excitement around the town for what this
- 3:12Speaker 4: team can be.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Yeah, you go out and take care of business.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Nothing cures anything like winning does and success does. You
- 3:20Speaker 3: go back, get a little bit of that momentum. The
- 3:22Speaker 3: goal is to get the momentum you had after the
- 3:24Speaker 3: Clemson game. You want to have a really good showing
- 3:27Speaker 3: at home in front of your home crowd.
- 3:29Speaker 2: You show improvement.
- 3:30Speaker 3: That's what I want to see. I just want to
- 3:32Speaker 3: see improvement on the offensive side of the ball. Defensively,
- 3:35Speaker 3: of course, they're always going to work. The improvement that
- 3:38Speaker 3: you can see on the defensive side of the ball
- 3:40Speaker 3: for LSU is so much smaller.
- 3:42Speaker 2: You've got to really be looking for it.
- 3:45Speaker 3: On the offensive side of the ball, I think everybody
- 3:47Speaker 3: is going to clearly see.
- 3:49Speaker 2: If there is improvement.
- 3:51Speaker 3: And it's going to start with the quarterback, always does.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Everything starts with the quarterback. Then we're going to look
- 3:56Speaker 3: at the line. Then we're going to look at receivers,
- 3:58Speaker 3: how they're getting it open. But, honestly, if the improvement
- 4:02Speaker 3: we can see, and I hope for with Sam Leavitt
- 4:04Speaker 3: and how he plays the quarterback position, if it's there,
- 4:06Speaker 3: it's going to be clear.
- 4:07Speaker 2: It's going to be clear.
- 4:08Speaker 3: We're going to have a dominant performance, I believe, tomorrow
- 4:12Speaker 3: in Tiger Stadium. And I think that's one of those, like,
- 4:15Speaker 3: this game is so important, right? Just like you said,
- 4:18Speaker 3: you've got two mulligans to give. And a 12-team playoff,
- 4:21Speaker 3: you've got two mullets to give. And maybe if a
- 4:23Speaker 3: crazy season plays out, maybe there's a third, depending on everything.
- 4:27Speaker 2: You don't want to have to lean on that.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yeah, don't take that risk. And so, like you said,
- 4:31Speaker 3: this schedule has turned to be real spicy. With old
- 4:37Speaker 3: Kentucky and Mississippi State just kind of thrown in there.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Because before the season, we're like, oh, man. It's going
- 4:43Speaker 3: to go McNeese and Kentucky, Mississippi State. Can't wait to
- 4:46Speaker 3: get to Auburn.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Our conversation around Kentucky was it's going to be on
- 4:49Speaker 4: the road.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Can it be a sleepy game? Now that's changed. Yeah.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Are they going to big boy us?
- 4:56Speaker 4: They dominated the line of scrimmage against A & M
- 4:58Speaker 4: last week. But certainly like the Mississippi State game, like
- 5:02Speaker 4: you knew Kamario Taylor was talented. We saw him at
- 5:03Speaker 4: the end of last year. But you didn't really know.
- 5:06Speaker 4: And that game was at home.
- 5:08Speaker 2: It's a good football team. It's a good football team.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Top 25 for the first time since– Dak?
- 5:14Speaker 2: It's been a long time. It's been a while.
- 5:15Speaker 4: I think they might have jumped into it when they
- 5:17Speaker 4: came here and threw for a bazillion yards in 2020.
- 5:21Speaker 2: They might have. KJ Costello? 600 yards, something like that?
- 5:24Speaker 2: Something crazy. It was the SEC record at the time.
- 5:26Speaker 2: It was close to 600 yards. So. Oh, God. That
- 5:29Speaker 2: was a terrible reminder, dude. Sorry. God. Had to cover
- 5:33Speaker 2: that game. That was our guy, too. That was Bo.
- 5:37Speaker 2: We were so excited for Bo to be back. I
- 5:38Speaker 2: was so excited for Bo. My God, did we just
- 5:40Speaker 2: get knocked to the mat early. Hmm. Sorry about that.
- 5:44Speaker 2: That's on us, guys. Sorry I brought that one up.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Anything I can do now to move past that?
- 5:52Speaker 3: Yeah, we can talk about LSU, how good they are,
- 5:54Speaker 3: how much they're going to crush Texas A & M.
- 5:56Speaker 3: This is a game where for Marcel Reed versus Blake
- 6:03Speaker 3: Baker in that defense, it's going to be different this year.
- 6:07Speaker 2: And I get it.
- 6:08Speaker 3: I want it to be different, so I believe it's
- 6:11Speaker 3: going to be different. But I think with the tools
- 6:13Speaker 3: that they have, what they're able to do, how they've
- 6:15Speaker 3: played so far in the season. And, like, look, yes,
- 6:18Speaker 3: they made a couple of mistakes last week versus Trinidad-Chamberlain
- 6:21Speaker 3: in that Ole Miss offense.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Marcel Reed is not Trinidad-Chamberlain. Right. Okay, he's played his.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Best games against LSU, but still his best games are
- 6:31Speaker 3: nothing close to what Trinidad did last week.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Right. In my opinion, just from the quarterback, like, when he.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Pulled the trigger, how he pulled the trigger, the ball location,
- 6:40Speaker 3: and how he was seeing the field, all that stuff.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Now, don't get me wrong.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Marcel has made electric plays and played his ass off
- 6:46Speaker 3: against LSU in the past.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I just think that what LSU's.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Defense can present to him from a pre-snap look and
- 6:55Speaker 3: then a post-snap reaction is more than he can handle. Yes,
- 6:59Speaker 3: is he going to, is he a great athlete, and
- 7:01Speaker 3: is he going to make some completions and Probably get
- 7:04Speaker 3: outside the pocket and scramble a little bit more.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I just think that what Blake Baker can present to
- 7:11Speaker 3: them and what his guys can execute is at a
- 7:13Speaker 3: very high level.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Even last week it was at a high level. I
- 7:15Speaker 2: was going to ask.
- 7:16Speaker 4: That was going to be my question. Last week we
- 7:18Speaker 4: watched the tape. We've done a deep dive into it.
- 7:21Speaker 2: You can check it out. Eye in the sky. We'll
- 7:23Speaker 2: plug there.
- 7:25Speaker 4: If LSU played against any other quarterback, with how they
- 7:29Speaker 4: played and what you saw on tape, Is there any
- 7:33Speaker 4: other quarterback where it would have been the same result?
- 7:36Speaker 2: And if so, that's fine.
- 7:41Speaker 3: I mean, as of right now, from what I've seen,
- 7:43Speaker 3: not in the SEC.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I mean, because there's some of those throws that Trinidad
- 7:48Speaker 4: should not have made.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Now, if somebody like Camario made a different type of play,
- 7:52Speaker 3: I can't say that. But LSU made some very small
- 7:58Speaker 3: mistakes from their– At safety, throwing in a new safety
- 8:03Speaker 3: in there, and he's got the free safety, and it's
- 8:04Speaker 3: a three-by-one situation, and he doesn't read the third receiver,
- 8:09Speaker 3: the number three receiver, who would be the inside most receiver.
- 8:11Speaker 3: He doesn't read his route and his aiming point good
- 8:17Speaker 3: enough or fast enough to react to know, okay. That
- 8:22Speaker 3: guy just crossed the face of a linebacker. Now I'm
- 8:24Speaker 3: off of him, and I'm to number two. He was
- 8:27Speaker 3: like a split second late on that recognition and reaction.
- 8:32Speaker 3: And then by that point, Trinidad scrambled up and made
- 8:34Speaker 3: a great throw for a touchdown right before the half.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Those are the things that practice is going to help that.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Reminders for six straight days from your coaches. Hey, when
- 8:46Speaker 3: it's three by one and number three crosses the linebacker's face, boom,
- 8:49Speaker 3: you're immediately to number two.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Immediately, yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 3: So those are those things that they're little, and it
- 8:55Speaker 3: wasn't much of a mistake, but it was a little bit.
- 8:57Speaker 2: P.J.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Woodland early on a third down conversion when he throws
- 9:01Speaker 3: an outright. He should have been in a cloud corner. Well,
- 9:03Speaker 3: he got his shoulders turned just a little bit, just enough.
- 9:07Speaker 3: I don't know if Trinidad doesn't pull the trigger if
- 9:10Speaker 3: he plays it right. I don't think it's hard to
- 9:12Speaker 3: see a bad technique on cover two by like.
- 9:15Speaker 2: A yard or two.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Like at a quarterback, if I'm reading cover two, I
- 9:18Speaker 3: read cover two and I kind of assume that the
- 9:22Speaker 3: corner is going to play it correctly.
- 9:24Speaker 2: And I react to a bad play.
- 9:26Speaker 3: If you're throwing a timing out route, that's not a
- 9:28Speaker 3: react to a bad play by the corner route. Like
- 9:30Speaker 3: he threw a timing out route into a cloud corner.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Should have been at least a hospital ball or should
- 9:35Speaker 3: have been an interception pick six. So you just played
- 9:38Speaker 3: it wrong a little bit. And then he made a
- 9:40Speaker 3: great throw. On top of it.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:44Speaker 3: And he consistently did that. He took advantage of it.
- 9:46Speaker 3: But the plays were there to be made.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Okay.
- 9:49Speaker 3: So can Marcel Reed consistently do that enough to beat you?
- 9:52Speaker 2: No. Yeah. Can he do it a couple times?
- 9:55Speaker 3: Probably.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Probably.
- 9:57Speaker 4: But the thing with him is going to be containing
- 9:59Speaker 4: him as a runner. It's not to say that Marcel
- 10:01Speaker 4: Reed can't make throws.
- 10:03Speaker 2: He can.
- 10:03Speaker 4: He can make throws. He can't make Trinidad Chambliss throws.
- 10:07Speaker 4: I think it's kind of what we're talking about here.
- 10:09Speaker 4: So if that's being said, now he can take over
- 10:12Speaker 4: a game as a runner.
- 10:13Speaker 2: How do I know?
- 10:14Speaker 4: I've seen it two years live in the second half
- 10:16Speaker 4: of these games. So that's going to have to be.
- 10:19Speaker 4: It's going to have to be your game plan. Like,
- 10:21Speaker 4: I don't know what you do, right? I don't know
- 10:23Speaker 4: if it's, hey, we're going to have a spy or
- 10:25Speaker 4: we're going to try to take away rush lanes with
- 10:27Speaker 4: games up front.
- 10:28Speaker 2: I don't know what that looks like. Your defensive front's
- 10:30Speaker 2: a lot better this year. Head and shoulders. Head and
- 10:33Speaker 2: shoulders better.
- 10:34Speaker 3: And defensive front last year was not good. They did
- 10:36Speaker 3: not play together as well. So you left these giant
- 10:40Speaker 3: voids in the middle of the field that he could
- 10:43Speaker 3: run through. The defense, albeit good last year, It has
- 10:48Speaker 3: some really good players that played.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Their asses off.
- 10:53Speaker 3: You didn't always see 11 guys straining to get to
- 10:57Speaker 3: the ball.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Right.
- 10:58Speaker 3: And it really came to light in the A &
- 11:01Speaker 3: M game, which got Brian Kelly fired.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:05Speaker 3: This is the game that got him fired. So we
- 11:07Speaker 3: thank them. We thank A & M for their service.
- 11:10Speaker 3: We thank you. But now those thanks are going to become...
- 11:16Speaker 3: pretty much like war chance against you this weekend. But
- 11:20Speaker 3: I'm glad they did. It wasn't fun at the time.
- 11:26Speaker 3: But it got us a new coach.
- 11:27Speaker 2: All right.
- 11:28Speaker 4: And that is kind of what we're looking for on defense.
- 11:30Speaker 4: On offense, it's pretty simple.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Run the ball. First down. Some. Slow your quarterback down.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Yeah, Sam is, you know, we've talked about this every day,
- 11:47Speaker 3: talked about it in depth from a film perspective on
- 11:50Speaker 3: the film breakdown.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Sam has got everything in front of him. Yeah.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Everything he wants to do, everything this team wants to
- 11:59Speaker 3: do is in front of you.
- 12:02Speaker 2: But you're the one that's got to go do it. Right.
- 12:04Speaker 3: It is easy to sit here and say, I mean,
- 12:06Speaker 3: it's super easy to watch a game on TV and
- 12:10Speaker 3: watch the film and critique and, like, nitpick like every
- 12:13Speaker 3: little thing and it's easy to do you could do
- 12:17Speaker 3: it for every quarterback who's ever played the game you
- 12:19Speaker 3: could do it for Matthew Stafford right now you could
- 12:21Speaker 3: do it for Patrick Brown Josh Allen I could watch
- 12:23Speaker 3: a Josh Allen film and tell you probably 10 things
- 12:26Speaker 3: he did wrong in a game yeah hey it happens
- 12:29Speaker 3: the game is fast the game is violent the game
- 12:32Speaker 3: has a lot of pressure they they got good players
- 12:34Speaker 3: they're trying to fool you you get fooled you're not
- 12:37Speaker 3: perfect nobody is But the overall thing that Sam has
- 12:40Speaker 3: to do is just slow down. Slow down. Listen to
- 12:45Speaker 3: some calm music before the game. Take a deep breath
- 12:49Speaker 3: before you run out on the field. Take a deep breath,
- 12:52Speaker 3: not in the huddle, I guess, but when you walk
- 12:54Speaker 3: up to the line of scrimmage. Take a deep breath.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Slow down. Your eyes are going too fast. Your internal
- 13:02Speaker 3: clock is ticking a little too fast.
- 13:06Speaker 2: And I get it. Maybe the protection hadn't been perfect
- 13:08Speaker 2: all the time. So what? Yeah.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Do you think every quarterback that's ever played had a
- 13:13Speaker 3: great offensive line? You're going to get hit in the
- 13:15Speaker 3: mouth some. Stand in the pocket, deliver a throw. Hell,
- 13:19Speaker 3: I saw Michael Penix do it yesterday, and he said
- 13:22Speaker 3: 38 knee injuries.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Okay, like you're going to get hit.
- 13:26Speaker 4: That was kind of my biggest takeaway. I said it
- 13:27Speaker 4: on the broadcast. You know, I was like, Sam, at
- 13:30Speaker 4: some point, buddy, You're going to step up. You're going
- 13:33Speaker 4: to rip a dig route over the middle, and you're
- 13:35Speaker 4: going to take a shot.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:37Speaker 4: They're going to hit you right in the chest as
- 13:39Speaker 4: the ball is leaving your hand.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Yeah. But you completed the pass. You're going to get
- 13:42Speaker 2: slammed to the ground.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Your head might whip back and slap the back, and
- 13:45Speaker 3: you might be dizzy getting up.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Yeah. That's all right. Dizzy, not concussed. That dizzy will
- 13:50Speaker 2: wear off.
- 13:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:51Speaker 2: The dizzy will wear off.
- 13:52Speaker 3: And by the time you get to your third or
- 13:54Speaker 3: fourth fake clap, you'll be straight.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yeah. You'll be saying, throw it to the guy in
- 13:59Speaker 2: the middle.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Pick the guy right in the middle yeah um now
- 14:03Speaker 3: he but in seriousness everything that we've seen like all
- 14:08Speaker 3: the negative plays um like rpos we know not counting
- 14:13Speaker 3: those are little things what's great is to be have
- 14:16Speaker 3: to fix little things and not have to fix big
- 14:18Speaker 3: things like he can make the throws he can be
- 14:21Speaker 3: athletic he can make all the plays with his feet
- 14:23Speaker 3: that you need and i get it there's a fine
- 14:25Speaker 3: line between over coaching a guy like that and reigning
- 14:29Speaker 3: him in right Do it with your arm first, and
- 14:32Speaker 3: then it's gonna open up so many more things with
- 14:35Speaker 3: your legs.
- 14:35Speaker 2: So just calm down, go through your progressions.
- 14:39Speaker 3: It doesn't have to, you don't have to go through,
- 14:41Speaker 3: Stop getting to your third progression by the time you're
- 14:43Speaker 3: at the top of your three-step drop. Like, that's not
- 14:46Speaker 3: the way it goes.
- 14:47Speaker 2: That was first play of the game. First play of
- 14:48Speaker 2: the game. Last week. And it was also multiple other times. Yeah,
- 14:51Speaker 2: I'm saying, like, it.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Wasn't like the game. He got nervous, and he was
- 14:55Speaker 4: down 17. And it wasn't just the moment. It's how
- 14:58Speaker 4: he's playing right now.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Like, we weren't able, due to technical difficulties, to do
- 15:03Speaker 3: our Louisiana Tech film review on Eye in the Sky.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Right.
- 15:06Speaker 3: But I had about 10 clips from that game that was, like,
- 15:08Speaker 3: getting too fast. So it's not about, like– Him being
- 15:11Speaker 3: a pressure cooker of a big moment situation. It's just
- 15:14Speaker 3: how he's playing right now.
- 15:16Speaker 2: It's his internal clock is too fast. Yeah. And I
- 15:20Speaker 2: don't know if it's like that in practice. I got
- 15:21Speaker 2: no clue.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But they got to slow him down. And that's the thing.
- 15:26Speaker 3: He can fix it. That's the good part. And if
- 15:28Speaker 3: he does, we're going to be a dangerous team. We
- 15:31Speaker 3: are going to be a tough out. I promise you.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:34Speaker 3: But if he doesn't, you're going to have some games
- 15:37Speaker 3: where you're going to lose close ones.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Yep. All right, we will step away.
- 15:41Speaker 4: We've got more OTB coming your way when we jump
- 15:43Speaker 4: back here live from Rouse's on Burbank and Lee.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Off the bench.
- 15:47Speaker 4: All right, go to getgordon.com. Gordon McKernan, injury attorney, still
- 15:53Speaker 4: out of the state of Louisiana. So from the 318-225-504-337-985,
- 15:55Speaker 4: any area code, any part of Louisiana, they can help
- 15:57Speaker 4: you out. Put that area code followed by 888-8888. You
- 16:05Speaker 4: can also have a chat with them right there on
- 16:07Speaker 4: the homepage at getgordon.com. Live agents are going to pop up,
- 16:10Speaker 4: whatever question you might have. Go to the website, getgordon.com.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Give them a call today. Get Gordon and get it done.
- 16:16Speaker 3: You're telling people to be a part of the G team?
- 16:17Speaker 2: I am. To get Gordon? Exactly. All right. Get Gordon
- 16:21Speaker 2: and get it done. Gordon McKernan, injury attorneys.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Gordon McCurran does a ton of great stuff all in
- 16:26Speaker 3: the community with the NIL space over at LSU. But
- 16:30Speaker 3: at the heart of everything, him and his team.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Are here to fight for you.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Wherever you are in all of Louisiana, if you've been injured,
- 16:37Speaker 3: car accident, maybe it's injured on the job site, whatever
- 16:40Speaker 3: it is, you might not know.
- 16:42Speaker 2: What to do.
- 16:42Speaker 3: It's not something that you're going to plan. It is
- 16:44Speaker 3: unfortunate that it happens. But give them a call. Let
- 16:46Speaker 3: them go fight for you. They've been doing it for
- 16:48Speaker 3: a long time, getting people exactly what they deserve.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Go to getgordon.com. If you kid on this.
- 16:56Speaker 4: From the locker room to the airwaves, it's Off the
- 17:03Speaker 4: Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn. You're lucky she
- 17:25Speaker 4: cut that off because I was about to just let
- 17:28Speaker 4: everybody in Rouse's know that I'm not just some guy.
- 17:32Speaker 2: People would be like shopping.
- 17:33Speaker 3: They'd be getting their apples or something. They're looking at
- 17:36Speaker 3: their wine back there.
- 17:37Speaker 2: What's that? That sounded beautiful. Is there an actual angel
- 17:41Speaker 2: in here? It's just Jake. It's not that big of
- 17:45Speaker 2: a deal. It's not that big of a deal. Some
- 17:48Speaker 2: mid-market radio over here. Award-winning mid-market radio. You said that
- 17:54Speaker 2: kind of weird.
- 18:01Speaker 4: One of the things I did want to point out
- 18:03Speaker 4: real quick before we move on from Texas A &
- 18:05Speaker 4: M and LSU and we get to the NFL with
- 18:08Speaker 4: the Saints and the Raiders. The passing offense for Texas
- 18:16Speaker 4: A & M, because all week we've talked about make,
- 18:19Speaker 4: you know, Marcel Reed, make him a thrower and don't
- 18:24Speaker 4: allow him to run. They're 14th in the SEC in
- 18:27Speaker 4: passing yards per game.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Hmm. So it's not what they do well. Yeah.
- 18:36Speaker 4: If I say that, okay, now you'll be able to
- 18:38Speaker 4: explain this way better than I do.
- 18:40Speaker 2: It's really where you become Rain Man.
- 18:46Speaker 4: If I have a team that the way they can
- 18:51Speaker 4: beat me is with Q runs, and I do think
- 18:54Speaker 4: that they have a back that's better than he's shown
- 18:56Speaker 4: so far, and I know that they're 14th out of
- 18:58Speaker 4: 16 teams in passing in the SEC.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 19:01Speaker 4: What defense or, you know, what coverages are you playing
- 19:05Speaker 4: to say, hey, you're beat up a little bit at DB.
- 19:07Speaker 2: I get that.
- 19:08Speaker 4: But you have your starting corners. You've got your starting
- 19:11Speaker 4: free safety. You've got your starting strong safety. You're just
- 19:13Speaker 4: kind of beat up in some of the nickel position,
- 19:16Speaker 4: some of the secondary pieces as far as guys that
- 19:18Speaker 4: would rotate in. Is there a, you know, do you say, hey,
- 19:22Speaker 4: we're going to play cover one. We're going to play
- 19:24Speaker 4: some cover one. And if our guys start getting beat,
- 19:26Speaker 4: then we'll adjust. Like, what do you do as a
- 19:28Speaker 4: defense coordinator?
- 19:31Speaker 2: I think when you look at this and you look at.
- 19:35Speaker 3: The history of the last couple years, at least, against Marcel,
- 19:39Speaker 3: I think it's something you can overreact to a little
- 19:42Speaker 3: bit as we're trying to analyze the game.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Like, what are you going to do to stop him?
- 19:45Speaker 2: What are you going to do to stop him?
- 19:46Speaker 5: Right.
- 19:48Speaker 3: You got to look at it the other way a
- 19:49Speaker 3: little bit. This is a brand new team. What are
- 19:51Speaker 3: they going to do to stop LSU's defense?
- 19:54Speaker 2: Right. That's how I want to look at this. Hell yeah, brother.
- 19:58Speaker 3: How are they going to attack a defense that has
- 20:02Speaker 3: a really good defensive line, two of the best linebackers
- 20:04Speaker 3: in the country, the best tandem for sure. Yes, you
- 20:08Speaker 3: got some DBs that you're going to be going against
- 20:10Speaker 3: that are out. But still, they got a lot of
- 20:12Speaker 3: athletes out there. They got two locked down or really
- 20:14Speaker 3: good corners on the outside. They have a defensive coordinator
- 20:19Speaker 3: that literally there's nothing off the table with them.
- 20:23Speaker 2: You see cover zero. You see cover one.
- 20:25Speaker 3: You see blitzes and pressures out of double A gap
- 20:28Speaker 3: muggers where they're still dropping eight, seven or eight into
- 20:32Speaker 3: coverage and playing cover.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Two behind it. Yep. Right.
- 20:35Speaker 3: You're seeing something that I promise you is a lot
- 20:38Speaker 3: harder for A & M and their offensive staff than it.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Is for LSU and their defensive staff.
- 20:43Speaker 3: You got a team that's going in to this game
- 20:45Speaker 3: ranked 14th, A & M ranked 14th in the SEC
- 20:48Speaker 3: in passing yards.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Yeah. You don't have to change a whole lot.
- 20:54Speaker 4: So you allow your defense to be the defense.
- 20:57Speaker 3: But I can tell you, like, they're stacking the box,
- 21:01Speaker 3: even against Ole Miss.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Yes. they had safeties at seven eight yards yeah true.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Not all the time and they stopped Ole Miss from
- 21:07Speaker 3: running the ball and that's the thing is like you
- 21:09Speaker 3: put a lot of safeties in there you play a
- 21:11Speaker 3: lot of your Blake's playing a lot of games because
- 21:14Speaker 3: he's got the personnel to do it on the defensive
- 21:15Speaker 3: line playing a lot of games and we've talked about
- 21:18Speaker 3: what those games are where you're looping a lot of
- 21:20Speaker 3: defensive linemen you're looping defensive line with backers so let's
- 21:24Speaker 3: just say a defensive both defensive tackles go right and
- 21:27Speaker 3: your defensive end loops around left that means you're And
- 21:31Speaker 3: that's what I expect to see this week, too, because
- 21:34Speaker 3: you're not just rushing up the field, right?
- 21:36Speaker 2: Or you're not trying to just bull rush a guy.
- 21:39Speaker 3: You're moving laterally, which moves offensive linemen left to right,
- 21:43Speaker 3: which compresses and condenses holes and gaps that you can
- 21:47Speaker 3: run through.
- 21:47Speaker 2: It makes it really challenging.
- 21:50Speaker 3: If everybody's just rushing and vertical every single play, then
- 21:54Speaker 3: it's easy for linemen to get leverage on.
- 21:56Speaker 2: You and push you. Because let's just think, like, if
- 21:58Speaker 2: you're trying to Set up a zone to the right.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Set up a zone right. Set up a zone right.
- 22:04Speaker 3: All of a sudden, you got two defensive linemen just
- 22:08Speaker 3: crashing down left, disrupting your whole blocking scheme, and then
- 22:12Speaker 3: another guy looping around to the right.
- 22:14Speaker 4: It's hard to run against that. I hated running against
- 22:18Speaker 4: stuff like that.
- 22:19Speaker 3: LSU, people have done that to them. That's where they've
- 22:22Speaker 3: been the worst at pass blocking is when there's games,
- 22:24Speaker 3: when it's just like a big defensive end. is crashing
- 22:28Speaker 3: down on a tackle or a guard and, like, taking
- 22:30Speaker 3: two linemen with him because they're trying to block right,
- 22:33Speaker 3: and he's pushing against them, and you've.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Got guys looping around. So Blake Baker does that. Yeah.
- 22:39Speaker 3: And he puts guys in the box, and then he
- 22:40Speaker 3: just makes it really difficult. So I'm more worried. I'd
- 22:44Speaker 3: be more worried if I was in College Station right
- 22:47Speaker 3: now getting ready than it is in Baton.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Rouge getting ready. To spy or not to spy? I mean,
- 22:53Speaker 2: spy comes in different ways.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Yep.
- 22:56Speaker 3: I think traditionally when people think of spy, you're like,
- 22:58Speaker 3: all right, number 42, you are on the quarterback all
- 23:03Speaker 3: day long. It's like a box-in-one type defense in basketball.
- 23:07Speaker 3: I remember that from eighth grade basketball days. It's not
- 23:09Speaker 3: that big a deal. Not a huge deal.
- 23:11Speaker 2: That's not necessarily it.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Sometimes it's a linebacker who's got the hook and cover three. Like, okay,
- 23:20Speaker 3: this week I want you to be your key. You're
- 23:23Speaker 3: allowed to go downhill once he crosses the hash. Or
- 23:26Speaker 3: you're allowed to go downhill if he takes three steps
- 23:28Speaker 3: or whatever. Like, there's different rules. There's also different rules
- 23:31Speaker 3: with droppers. Like, the dropper, you're technically the spy. Or
- 23:34Speaker 3: maybe it's not a spy. Maybe it's just two contained
- 23:36Speaker 3: guys on the outside.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Of course, when the pass rush, you're going to be
- 23:42Speaker 3: taught this week to not pass rush vertically.
- 23:47Speaker 4: Right.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Don't get past. If the quarterback's feet.
- 23:50Speaker 4: LSU's done a really good job of so far this year.
- 23:52Speaker 4: I've brought that up on the broadcast multiple times. They
- 23:55Speaker 4: have three sacks this year where they've gotten to the
- 23:57Speaker 4: level that we're talking about and then tracked back instead
- 24:00Speaker 4: of running past. And when the quarterback stepped up in
- 24:02Speaker 4: the pocket, they've got three sacks on that this year.
- 24:05Speaker 2: You're not going to get them from, like, behind, right?
- 24:08Speaker 3: You're not going to make the big loop and get
- 24:10Speaker 3: Marcel down unless he's got some sort of crazy push
- 24:13Speaker 3: up the middle. So if the ball's on the 20-yard
- 24:16Speaker 3: line and his feet are at the 25, you rush
- 24:19Speaker 3: and you don't go to the 26. You don't get
- 24:21Speaker 3: past his plane where he's at on the field. So
- 24:25Speaker 3: you compress the middle. You compress the gaps. Don't give
- 24:28Speaker 3: him opportunities to scramble up the middle that way. If
- 24:32Speaker 3: he's going to scramble and beat you, make him do
- 24:34Speaker 3: it outside. Make him have to scramble around you and
- 24:38Speaker 3: go towards the sideline. He's going to gas you if
- 24:41Speaker 3: he gets up the middle.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Yep.
- 24:42Speaker 3: That's the game plan. But again, LSU on defense, you
- 24:47Speaker 3: are the hammer, not the nail. They are chasing you.
- 24:50Speaker 3: They are the ones that should be worried about preparing
- 24:53Speaker 3: for you, not the other way around.
- 24:55Speaker 2: I don't care what the last two seasons look like.
- 24:57Speaker 2: All right. I love that attitude. We'll see if they
- 24:59Speaker 2: get that done on Saturday. All right. We will step away.
- 25:02Speaker 4: And when we come back, let's start to get into
- 25:05Speaker 4: the Saints hosting the Raiders. Kind of one final look.
- 25:11Speaker 4: Saints actually. Have a primetime game after this one.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Shut up. It's not that big of a deal. Thursday.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Play against the Falcons. It's Monday. It's a big game. Well,
- 25:23Speaker 2: now it could be. Well, now that game looks bigger.
- 25:26Speaker 2: But this game's big.
- 25:27Speaker 4: Momentum heading into, I believe, their only, unless something gets flexed,
- 25:32Speaker 4: national TV game of the year. A lot on the
- 25:35Speaker 4: line there down in the Superdome. We'll break it down
- 25:37Speaker 4: when we come back here on OTB.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Off the bench.
- 25:42Speaker 4: All right, your office equipment should help your business move faster,

- 26:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, their technology is awesome, and it sets

- 26:24Speaker 3: an office and own a business, you know the worst
- 26:26Speaker 3: thing in the world is when that printer, that copier,
- 26:28Speaker 3: it goes down. Your business just comes to a halt.
- 26:31Speaker 3: You can't operate efficiently anymore. They got an award-winning service team.

- 26:37Speaker 3: there and get you back up and running fast. They
- 26:39Speaker 3: are the best Gulf Coast office products at GCOPnet.com.
- 26:47Speaker 1: 2007 champs, purple and gold to the core. This is
- 26:52Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, Baton Rouge's go-to
- 26:55Speaker 1: for all things Louisiana sports.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Yo, welcome back here off the bench.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Football Friday live from Rouse's here on Burbank. I want
- 27:24Speaker 3: to tell you about our friends over at Cateris. When
- 27:26Speaker 3: you think about Louisiana, you think about energy. And one
- 27:29Speaker 3: company helping shape that future is Cateris. Cateris is developed
- 27:32Speaker 3: in the Commonwealth LNG Export Facility over there in Cameron Parish,
- 27:36Speaker 3: connecting American natural gas with customers around the world. But
- 27:40Speaker 3: it's about more than just exporting energy. It's about creating jobs,
- 27:43Speaker 3: supporting local businesses, and strengthening communities, reinforcing Louisiana's position as
- 27:48Speaker 3: one of the world's leading energy hubs. Through its natural
- 27:51Speaker 3: gas production and the Commonwealth LNG project, Catalyst is helping
- 27:54Speaker 3: build an integrated energy platform that connects domestic resources with
- 27:58Speaker 3: the growing global demand. So, as construction continues... On Louisiana's
- 28:03Speaker 3: Gulf Coast, Caterus is proud to invest in American energy,
- 28:07Speaker 3: American workers, and a stronger economic future. Caterus, connecting Louisiana
- 28:11Speaker 3: energy to the world.
- 28:15Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Let's take a look at the New Orleans Saints hosting
- 28:19Speaker 4: the Las Vegas Raiders.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Hey, hold up real quick. Hold up real quick.
- 28:23Speaker 3: I just did see some big news. Schefter reported. Jaden Daniels.
- 28:29Speaker 3: He's not going to go on injured reserve. He is
- 28:31Speaker 3: going to be considered week to week going forward.
- 28:34Speaker 2: So big news. I guess the scans came back. Probably
- 28:37Speaker 2: going to be a huge elbow brace. Probably a big one.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Probably a big boy.
- 28:41Speaker 3: But, yeah, sources confirmed that after the scans and after
- 28:45Speaker 3: consulting multiple doctors, they all kind of agree that it
- 28:49Speaker 3: doesn't need to be a super long-term situation, of course.
- 28:52Speaker 2: You do still worry about it. Second time it's happened.
- 28:56Speaker 3: It kind of happened last year where it happened for
- 28:58Speaker 3: the first time, he came back, then it happened again. So, yeah,
- 29:03Speaker 3: I don't know what you can just do about that.
- 29:05Speaker 2: I think you got to wear a brace. It's not
- 29:07Speaker 2: going to be comfortable. It's not going to make you
- 29:10Speaker 2: feel good. It's going to look terrible. Not going to
- 29:12Speaker 2: sell a lot of jerseys. You carry the ball.
- 29:14Speaker 4: A lot, and it's going to be hard to tuck
- 29:16Speaker 4: that thing away with a big elbow brace on.
- 29:19Speaker 2: I know. What a fluke, like, deal, too, that last one.
- 29:23Speaker 2: I get it.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Like, he runs a lot, and he makes himself vulnerable
- 29:27Speaker 3: in that way. And you can understand, like, if it
- 29:29Speaker 3: would have happened there, but that was a fluke situation there. So,
- 29:32Speaker 3: unfortunate but happy that he is going to be considered
- 29:36Speaker 3: week to week, and we hopefully get to see plenty
- 29:39Speaker 3: more jayden daniels play football this.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Year yeah marcus mariotta going to be the quarterback until jd5.
- 29:45Speaker 5: Yeah so yeah good what's wrong what i do now
- 29:51Speaker 5: i'm saying like if i say jd5 yeah that's who
- 29:54Speaker 5: he is that's what i'm saying Okay.
- 29:57Speaker 2: It's been a situation. Yeah. Oh, the five thing? Yeah.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Are we power fast, then? Okay, good. Good. Can we
- 30:03Speaker 2: all just cheer for him?
- 30:04Speaker 5: I am.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Yeah, hell yeah. I'm not booing that guy. I hate
- 30:07Speaker 2: when they boo him in the stadium. I think that's dumb.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I think that is dumb. The whole thing's dumb. Hey,
- 30:10Speaker 2: guess what? Everything surrounding is dumb.
- 30:11Speaker 3: If you go to the game tomorrow and they put
- 30:14Speaker 3: Jaden Daniels, former Heisman winner here at LSU, if they
- 30:17Speaker 3: put his, like, a clip of him or, like, Tigers
- 30:20Speaker 3: and the.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Pros, hey, don't boo him. If you boo him, you're
- 30:23Speaker 2: a loser. There you go. Well said. Thank you. And
- 30:27Speaker 2: a nerd. The Saints right now, it's staying steady.
- 30:31Speaker 4: Minus three against the Raiders this weekend. Back finally inside
- 30:35Speaker 4: the Louisiana Superdome. They were a three-point favorite when it opened.
- 30:39Speaker 4: They're a three-point favorite now. Now it opened at minus 110.
- 30:42Speaker 4: Now it's up to minus 122 for that minus three.
- 30:46Speaker 2: So, Saints, the favorite.
- 30:50Speaker 4: It's, you know, three points at home, whatever, call it
- 30:52Speaker 4: a pick them. But still, I think the Saints are
- 30:54Speaker 4: a favorite with that minus 122 attached to the minus three.
- 30:58Speaker 4: The Raiders are playing better. I want to look, got
- 31:00Speaker 4: to give credit where credit's due. They're playing better. They've
- 31:03Speaker 4: been a better football team. You should absolutely win this
- 31:06Speaker 4: football game.
- 31:07Speaker 2: I think if you.
- 31:08Speaker 4: Stop the pass rush of the Las Vegas Raiders, you
- 31:11Speaker 4: win the game. That's the story of the game for me.
- 31:13Speaker 4: I don't think Kirk Cousins is going to come in
- 31:15Speaker 4: and set the world on fire and beat you and
- 31:17Speaker 4: beat your defense.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I don't think Ashton Gentry by himself can do that.
- 31:21Speaker 4: I do think if Max Crosby and Pei coming off
- 31:25Speaker 4: the edge, sack, fumble, Tyler Shuck, the ball goes the
- 31:28Speaker 4: other way, they score a cheap touchdown, that's how you.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Can lose this game. The rush for the Raiders is real.
- 31:34Speaker 4: They went and signed a bunch of people when they
- 31:36Speaker 4: thought Max Crosby was a Baltimore Raven. Max Crosby's not
- 31:40Speaker 4: a Baltimore Raven. We all know that falls through. So
- 31:42Speaker 4: they got the people they signed, and they got Max
- 31:45Speaker 4: Crosby back. They've got some guys coming off the edge.
- 31:48Speaker 4: That is going to be something you have to be
- 31:50Speaker 4: able to control. Now, like Quidipe is questionable but with
- 31:56Speaker 4: an illness.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Quidipe is playing in this game. Fully believe that. Brock
- 32:01Speaker 2: Bowers is questionable in this game.
- 32:03Speaker 4: That's one to probably pay attention to more than any
- 32:05Speaker 4: other injury on the injury report.
- 32:09Speaker 2: For you?
- 32:11Speaker 4: Travis Achan's questionable with a hamstring. Makes you a little
- 32:13Speaker 4: nervous there. We know Kelvin Banks Jr. is going to
- 32:17Speaker 4: be out. He's on IR with the tightrope procedure. But
- 32:21Speaker 4: you haven't committed to the run, but you haven't been
- 32:24Speaker 4: good at running the football. It's been a lot of
- 32:26Speaker 4: Tyler Shuck and the receivers. You paid $ 53 million for
- 32:30Speaker 4: Travis Achan, and not to mention what you paid for
- 32:33Speaker 4: David Edwards to also solidify the offensive front and be
- 32:36Speaker 4: able to run the football. But if you don't do it,
- 32:40Speaker 4: how do you know? I mean, you got to see
- 32:43Speaker 4: what you got. HN had eight carries last week. Uh,
- 32:47Speaker 4: AK had nine carries. Like you didn't have a back
- 32:49Speaker 4: in double digit carries that, that, that can't be the
- 32:52Speaker 4: formula that you move forward with. And so I don't like,
- 32:54Speaker 4: I don't know what HN's availability is going to be
- 32:57Speaker 4: with a hamstring, but no matter who's back there running back,
- 33:01Speaker 4: you've got to give somebody a chance.
- 33:02Speaker 2: To get into the flow of the game and give
- 33:04Speaker 2: them 15 carries.
- 33:06Speaker 3: The, um, the Raiders are better than anybody thought to
- 33:11Speaker 3: this point in the season. This it's been two games.
- 33:14Speaker 3: So there's a lot of overreaction happening a lot everywhere.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Like with, with good teams, bad teams, you know, teams
- 33:20Speaker 3: are especially middle of the road. You know, there's a
- 33:22Speaker 3: lot of conclusions being drawn early. You can't argue with the,
- 33:27Speaker 3: how well the saints have played as a, from a
- 33:29Speaker 3: team as a whole, because you've played on the road
- 33:32Speaker 3: versus two top tier NFL teams.
- 33:34Speaker 2: So like that, that is there.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Like, There's some teams that have played and lost and
- 33:39Speaker 3: won games where you're like, yeah, but they're playing this.
- 33:42Speaker 3: There's no argument with that with the Saints. Like, we
- 33:43Speaker 3: know who the Saints have played and gone toe-to-toe with
- 33:46Speaker 3: and come out 1-1 against.
- 33:49Speaker 2: The Raiders are kind of in the opposite. Like, we
- 33:51Speaker 2: don't– they're better than we thought. They're 2-0.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Like, who would have ever guessed that no matter who
- 33:56Speaker 3: they were playing? They could have played– they could have
- 33:59Speaker 3: played Purdue. And, like, you don't know how that game
- 34:01Speaker 3: was going to, like, end up. Purdue catching strays this morning.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. Not a big deal.
- 34:07Speaker 3: So this is a game where you should beat them.
- 34:12Speaker 3: You're the favorite for a reason. It's still early, so
- 34:15Speaker 3: we don't know what conclusions. We don't know how each
- 34:17Speaker 3: of these teams is going to end up by midyear.
- 34:19Speaker 3: Are they going to be, you know, what's the Raider?
- 34:22Speaker 3: Are they for real? Are they still going to Raider?
- 34:25Speaker 3: I think they're still going to Raider at some point. Okay.
- 34:29Speaker 3: They should not be in this game with you. This week,
- 34:33Speaker 3: like the dome should be absolutely rocking this week after
- 34:36Speaker 3: the performance they made. But I can tell you, if
- 34:39Speaker 3: you want to figure out a way to lose this game,
- 34:43Speaker 3: average three points, you know, score three points in the
- 34:46Speaker 3: first half. That's what you're averaging right now. You scored
- 34:48Speaker 3: zero in the first game. You scored six points in
- 34:50Speaker 3: the first half. In the second game. Fix the first
- 34:53Speaker 3: half and you win the game. And you don't even
- 34:55Speaker 3: have to go crazy. How about 10 points? How about 8?
- 34:58Speaker 4: How about have a lead after the first quarter for
- 35:00Speaker 4: the first time since 2024?
- 35:03Speaker 3: If you continue to play the way you're doing in
- 35:06Speaker 3: the first half, every game is going to be close.
- 35:10Speaker 3: It might not be close. You might get blown out.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Because Tyler Shutt can't do it for you. You can't
- 35:15Speaker 3: put the whole team on his back for 17 weeks.
- 35:19Speaker 3: You can't expect that. You have to have a better
- 35:22Speaker 3: performance and whatever your philosophy has been to start the game,
- 35:27Speaker 3: your game plan has been do the.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Opposite of that. Just do that.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Like if you are like, man, I've really, my, my
- 35:34Speaker 3: instinct is to call a play action here to hand
- 35:38Speaker 3: it off.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Yeah. And not only that, hand it off to the
- 35:40Speaker 2: other direction. Yeah.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Like that's it's do everything the opposite. It's kind of
- 35:45Speaker 3: like a guy that goes and bets. Like it's improbable
- 35:48Speaker 3: to hit parlays, right?
- 35:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:49Speaker 3: It's hard to hit five out of five. But for
- 35:52Speaker 3: whatever reason, I can go 0 for 5 real quick.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Real quick on a 50-50, taking the line. It's really
- 35:59Speaker 3: easy to go 0 for. And so at one point,
- 36:02Speaker 3: you're just like, you know what? I'm going to just
- 36:03Speaker 3: do opposite of everything that I– if I feel good
- 36:08Speaker 3: about the Texas Tech this week, I'm going to go
- 36:10Speaker 3: the opposite just because I'm not hitting anything. That's how
- 36:14Speaker 3: I feel like Kellen Moore and his staff should be
- 36:15Speaker 3: in that first quarter.
- 36:17Speaker 2: If I want to call this, just do the opposite
- 36:18Speaker 2: of that. Something's got to give. 23?
- 36:21Speaker 4: Is that the, I think, 23 straight games that you
- 36:24Speaker 4: have not had the lead at the end of.
- 36:25Speaker 2: The first quarter? It's been since the 2004 season.
- 36:28Speaker 4: I think it was December of 2004 against the New
- 36:30Speaker 4: York Giants when you were up 7-0.
- 36:32Speaker 2: That's hard to do. That is.
- 36:35Speaker 4: More than a full season, and then some, of not
- 36:38Speaker 4: having a first quarter lead.
- 36:40Speaker 2: That is... Get off the script. Get off of it.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Like Matt said, when you think one thing, do the opposite.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Switch it up. Some.
- 36:49Speaker 4: Because you're a good football team. You have a chance
- 36:52Speaker 4: to be maybe even great. You've got the hardest position
- 36:58Speaker 4: in sports figured out, the quarterback position. It's harder to
- 37:02Speaker 4: figure out quarterback than any point guard, starting pitcher, a center.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Mid in soccer. It doesn't matter.
- 37:11Speaker 4: You have the hardest position to figure out, and you've
- 37:13Speaker 4: got one that I think could be top eight in
- 37:18Speaker 4: the NFL by the end of this year.
- 37:20Speaker 2: I really believe that about Tyler Shuck. Do something different.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Do something different.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Whether it is come out and 13 personnel and run
- 37:30Speaker 3: the ball six times in a row or come out
- 37:34Speaker 3: and run two minute in the first quarter.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Do something. I would love to see it. Why not?
- 37:39Speaker 4: The fact that more teams don't do that.
- 37:41Speaker 2: That used to be 15 years ago. Teams did that.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Well, because, like, a team can be doing absolutely nothing
- 37:49Speaker 3: in the first half. Then all of a sudden there's
- 37:51Speaker 3: a minute 40 left, and they drive right down the
- 37:53Speaker 3: field and score.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Like, we see it. How many times have you seen
- 37:55Speaker 2: that in a football game? A billion. Like, we can't
- 37:58Speaker 2: get anything going, anything going.
- 37:59Speaker 3: And all of a sudden you run two minutes, and boom,
- 38:01Speaker 3: you march right down the field. I would love to
- 38:04Speaker 3: see it. Like, just do something a little bit different.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Because your game plan is not working, trying to set
- 38:08Speaker 3: them up and trying to do play-action fakes and different things.
- 38:12Speaker 3: And all of a sudden you get to the second half,
- 38:15Speaker 3: And you're just calling your base plays. You're reacting to
- 38:17Speaker 3: the game flow. You're reacting to, okay, this works, that works.
- 38:21Speaker 3: It's not pre-scheduled.
- 38:22Speaker 4: I mean, one of my favorite plays of last week
- 38:24Speaker 4: was the reverse scissors they ran.
- 38:25Speaker 2: That's a basic play. It's a very basic play.
- 38:29Speaker 4: Now, their change-up to it was to reverse it, grab
- 38:33Speaker 4: the corner to go first, the post to come second.
- 38:36Speaker 2: That's a bait. We run that in flag football. Not
- 38:39Speaker 2: a big deal. I mean, you do too.
- 38:41Speaker 4: Well, you used to when you coached. Like, everybody's got
- 38:44Speaker 4: a combination of a post and a corner together.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 38:47Speaker 4: That was one of the best plays of the weekend.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Talashek threw it before Olave was there. Olave didn't speed
- 38:52Speaker 4: the route up. It was an easy touchdown. That's what
- 38:55Speaker 4: Matt's talking about. Keep it simple, stupid.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Do that. Just do that. Don't do more. Do less.
- 39:03Speaker 2: Be like PPOP. Always and forever. Always. We'll take a break.

- 41:52Speaker 4: did something that was really dumb.
- 41:54Speaker 2: No. The last couple days. I don't believe it.
- 41:57Speaker 4: They fined fullback one, Kyle Juszczyk, for intimidating chugging a beer.
- 42:04Speaker 2: I saw that.
- 42:05Speaker 4: Now, Kyle Juszczyk has done this many, many times in
- 42:08Speaker 4: his career. Kyle Juszczyk has a nickname of Juice. That's right, Juice.
- 42:15Speaker 4: And so that's been his juice celebration. And I've talked
- 42:18Speaker 4: with Kyle about this before. He's like, you know, it
- 42:20Speaker 4: could be so many different things, right? Juice, like, for juice.
- 42:23Speaker 4: And then, like, juice for we need some juice in
- 42:25Speaker 4: the locker room. He's like, drink the juice.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Even if he was intimidated, you know. Imitating drinking
- 42:34Speaker 2: a beer. Even if he was, okay? So what? Who
- 42:40Speaker 2: gives a damn? Like, if he was. Now, do you
- 42:43Speaker 2: know his intent?
- 42:43Speaker 4: You're telling me you know the intent of what this
- 42:45Speaker 4: man is fake drinking in a celebration. That's the dumbest
- 42:49Speaker 4: ish I've ever heard. But even if he was, even
- 42:51Speaker 4: if it.
- 42:52Speaker 2: Was like a cold Dos Equis. Delicious.
- 42:55Speaker 4: As soon as they go to commercial from Juszczyk celebrating,
- 43:00Speaker 4: it's probably a beer commercial, right? The stands behind him,
- 43:04Speaker 4: if you took a still photo of him chugging a beer,
- 43:10Speaker 4: it would probably have a beer advertisement on the back
- 43:12Speaker 4: of it. NFL, stop being dumb. You throw a commercial,
- 43:18Speaker 4: and you have DraftKings, and then you'll have Bud Light,
- 43:23Speaker 4: and then you'll have– But you're holding your players.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Like, one, you don't know what he was acting like
- 43:28Speaker 2: he was drinking.
- 43:29Speaker 4: And even if it was, hell, even if he grabbed
- 43:31Speaker 4: a beer out of the crowd and started chugging it,
- 43:34Speaker 4: your first commercial after that would be a beer ad.
- 43:36Speaker 2: What's the dumbest thing ever? $ 14, 926. This wasn't one of
- 43:38Speaker 2: those $ 2, 500 fines. $ 14, 926 for engaging in offensive demonstrations. It's
- 43:53Speaker 2: the stupidest stuff ever.
- 43:54Speaker 3: Yeah, chugging a beer constituted an offensive demonstration it could
- 43:57Speaker 3: reasonably construe as being in poor taste, the NFL wrote
- 44:01Speaker 3: in its fine letter. NFL makes, I think, nearly half
- 44:08Speaker 3: a billion dollars a year on beer advertisements. So, yeah,
- 44:13Speaker 3: and I actually believe someone timed it out. It was
- 44:15Speaker 3: less than 10 minutes after he did this that a.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Bud, like a beer commercial came on.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Hey, so, yeah, this is hypocritical and stupid and not
- 44:26Speaker 3: the first person to chug. And you're telling me that
- 44:29Speaker 3: you are just going to assume that he chugged a beer?
- 44:33Speaker 2: I think Kyle, the Juice, Juice Check.
- 44:37Speaker 4: Yeah, Juice Check has like a juice box diamond necklace.
- 44:42Speaker 2: I think he actually quoted afterwards. He said, I don't
- 44:44Speaker 2: even drink beer. He did, yes.
- 44:46Speaker 3: And I think him and his wife also released a
- 44:48Speaker 3: video of them making some juice at the home and
- 44:50Speaker 3: then chugging it.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Pretty good. NFLPA, you're worthless.
- 44:54Speaker 4: But if you actually want to show that you're worth anything,
- 44:58Speaker 4: stand up for your guy here.
- 44:59Speaker 2: This is dumb. This is the stupidest thing.
- 45:03Speaker 4: But again, again, he doesn't drink beer. He wasn't doing it.
- 45:06Speaker 4: He was doing the juice, juice box, whole deal. That
- 45:09Speaker 4: man is a grown adult. If you want to do
- 45:13Speaker 4: a beer chugging thing, you are stupid. In bed with
- 45:17Speaker 4: beer companies.
- 45:18Speaker 2: Yeah, find yourself. You sell beer. I don't get it.
- 45:22Speaker 3: You sell sports betting, and you used to not allow
- 45:25Speaker 3: players to be pictured and have events at casinos, but
- 45:29Speaker 3: you make tons of money off gambling. You don't let
- 45:32Speaker 3: them fake, apparently chug, maybe what can be construed.
- 45:37Speaker 2: As a potential beer. Maybe it's a non-alcoholic beer. Yeah.
- 45:42Speaker 3: You're protecting the shield, but you're going to break away
- 45:44Speaker 3: and have... 48 beer commercials and liquor commercials.
- 45:50Speaker 2: This is a... It's not even a bad look. It's
- 45:52Speaker 2: just a dumb look. Poor guy. Let him chug a beer.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Don't come after fullback one. Don't come after Whit Weeks either.
- 46:01Speaker 2: He did that against Arkansas. Shotgunned it. The fullback... I
- 46:05Speaker 2: think there was no question that was a beer. The
- 46:07Speaker 2: fullback group text? Yeah. Popping off yesterday. Oh, I bet.
- 46:11Speaker 2: I bet. Had some war daddies in there.
- 46:13Speaker 1: Yep.
- 46:13Speaker 2: And juice is in there. Mm-hmm. Not very happy about
- 46:16Speaker 2: how that went down. I think we can agree that
- 46:19Speaker 2: Wood Weeks was definitely a beer. It wasn't construed as one.
- 46:22Speaker 2: He shot good. That was definitely a beer. Oh, yeah. 100%.
- 46:27Speaker 2: Maybe an old school Four Loko. Mad Dog. Ooh. Something spicy.
- 46:34Speaker 2: We'll be back. Hour three. Off the bench. finding that
- 46:41Speaker 2: man $ 15, 000. Come on now. What are we doing? Come on, Ross.
- 46:44Speaker 2: So much beer with that. All right.

- 46:55Speaker 4: In a matter of minutes, inside and outside, outside and inside.
- 46:58Speaker 4: Sometimes it's a little bit of both. Like it was
- 47:00Speaker 4: for me. Don't treat me any different when you see
- 47:02Speaker 4: the commercial.
- 47:03Speaker 2: Is that going to pop this week? It was weekend.
- 47:05Speaker 2: I think it is the debut. It was one take Jake.
- 47:09Speaker 2: True story. Don't treat me any different.
- 47:13Speaker 4: Don't treat me any different because you see the motorized
- 47:15Speaker 4: screen in the backyard.
