2:47
Speaker 2: Welcome to the show.
2:49
Speaker 1: Dad.
2:50
Speaker 2: How you doing, Buddy, I'm going fine. How are you?
2:52
Speaker 5: I'm great. I got home late last night. I had
2:55
Speaker 5: some meetings in Martinsburg which were great, and we're doing good.
2:59
Speaker 2: How were things in Martinsburg?
3:01
Speaker 5: Asian Martinsburg Rossome. I was with a bunch of guys
3:05
Speaker 5: who work for the large gun manufacturers who were having
3:09
Speaker 5: their sort of annual meetings with the ATF, and we
3:13
Speaker 5: talked a lot about, you know, how and why the
3:16
Speaker 5: places where they're currently doing their thing might not be
3:19
Speaker 5: the best, maybe some ways to get some of those
3:23
Speaker 5: folks to move some of their operations here to West
3:25
Speaker 5: Virginia and some of the big wins our office has
3:27
Speaker 5: had in the Second Amendment.
3:29
Speaker 2: I don't think I've had you on the local show
3:31
Speaker 2: JB since the Supreme Court decision West Virginia versus BPJ
3:35
Speaker 2: upholding West Virginia Save Women's Sports Acts to talk about
3:39
Speaker 2: a little bit.
3:41
Speaker 1: Yeah.
3:41
Speaker 5: So I think that was three weeks ago, now, wasn't it, David?
3:45
Speaker 5: It seems like forever. But you know, we talked a
3:49
Speaker 5: lot about how, you know, West Virginia passed to Save
3:52
Speaker 5: Women's Sports Act because we believed that our our legislature
3:56
Speaker 5: believed that we should have specific spaces. Is based on
4:01
Speaker 5: sex tender and the entire idea of this bill, and
4:04
Speaker 5: it's a simple bill said that if you are a
4:08
Speaker 5: biological male, you need to play sports against other biological
4:12
Speaker 5: males because there are immutable physical characteristics that give biological
4:17
Speaker 5: males an advantage over biological females. And so that case
4:22
Speaker 5: we've been defending. That case. We got sued by the
4:24
Speaker 5: ACOU and a few other large, you know, sort of national,
4:28
Speaker 5: well funded law groups, and they sued to overturn our law.
4:33
Speaker 5: And so that case as we defended it through the
4:35
Speaker 5: district court, and then we the state lost at the
4:38
Speaker 5: Fourth Circuit, and the Fourth Circuit enjoined our law saying
4:41
Speaker 5: that we couldn't enforce it. So that case ended up
4:44
Speaker 5: at the US Supreme Court, and my team of lawyers
4:46
Speaker 5: and I defended our case there and all nine of
4:51
Speaker 5: the justices, all nine, a unanimous decision, said that our
4:55
Speaker 5: law did not violate Title nine, which is one of
4:58
Speaker 5: the arguments from the ACOU. And six of the nine
5:02
Speaker 5: justices agreed that our law does not violate the equal
5:04
Speaker 5: Protection clause. And so essentially, if there's eighteen votes, our
5:11
Speaker 5: law got fifteen of the eighteen votes, which is really
5:16
Speaker 5: pretty remarkable. And so this is a huge win for
5:20
Speaker 5: women's sports. It's a huge win for the women and
5:23
Speaker 5: girls in this state and across the country, so that
5:27
Speaker 5: other states now can feel confident and boldly make these
5:31
Speaker 5: laws that really protect the women and girls who are
5:34
Speaker 5: getting up every single morning and working their rear ends
5:37
Speaker 5: off to play what are very very competitive sports, and
5:40
Speaker 5: sports that result in scholarships and nil deals and you know,
5:45
Speaker 5: potentially even professional contracts. But more than that, protecting the
5:49
Speaker 5: ability for these young ladies to have competitive spaces where
5:54
Speaker 5: they can showcase their talents and they can learn the
5:57
Speaker 5: values that anybody who's ever played very competitive sports, which
6:01
Speaker 5: I have, that your work matters. What you do at
6:05
Speaker 5: five o'clock in the morning is how you end up
6:08
Speaker 5: winning games, and that when you do lose, if you've
6:12
Speaker 5: lost fairly, there is an enormous amount of benefit in
6:16
Speaker 5: learning how to download what a loss meant, what you
6:20
Speaker 5: did wrong, where you weren't working hard enough, what somebody
6:23
Speaker 5: else was doing better than you. And so we're really
6:25
Speaker 5: really proud of the effort and the work that our
6:28
Speaker 5: office did and what is a truly landmark decision that
6:32
Speaker 5: once again West Virginia.
6:34
Speaker 2: Was the leader on and again I mean your office
6:37
Speaker 2: and you specifically and in your team were out there
6:39
Speaker 2: in front mean when the decision came down, because we
6:42
Speaker 2: were all in the media setting back waiting on it
6:44
Speaker 2: for you know, cause today is going to be the day. No,
6:46
Speaker 2: today is going to be the day, and which kind
6:47
Speaker 2: of waited and wait to wait and immediately put West
6:49
Speaker 2: Virginia in the national spotlight. I think you were on
6:52
Speaker 2: the on the talk line that day. We had Yan
6:54
Speaker 2: as well. But you know, turn on CNN, Fox News,
6:57
Speaker 2: You're you're all over the place out there, you know,
6:59
Speaker 2: talk about this. It was a case that really put
7:01
Speaker 2: West Virginia in, as you said, JB in the national spotlight.
7:06
Speaker 5: Yeah. And I think the fact that it was nine
7:08
Speaker 5: ozho and I actually I predicted that. I predicted it
7:12
Speaker 5: right after the argument, and I sort of got chuckled
7:14
Speaker 5: at by people on Fox News and CNN, and they
7:17
Speaker 5: didn't have any contemplation that it was possible for our
7:21
Speaker 5: team of lawyers to get the three more liberal justices
7:24
Speaker 5: to agree with us, and we did. And I think
7:26
Speaker 5: that's really really important, right. I think, you know, when
7:30
Speaker 5: you look at at the way we argue the case,
7:32
Speaker 5: the skill that was used by our team, but I
7:35
Speaker 5: think more importantly the deft touch, because this is it's
7:39
Speaker 5: a tricky situation, right, We're dealing with kids here, and
7:42
Speaker 5: there are no villains in this situation but at some
7:46
Speaker 5: point you have to stand up and say, you know,
7:48
Speaker 5: this is what the adults need to stand up and
7:51
Speaker 5: say this, This is how this needs to go. And
7:54
Speaker 5: I think it was a real testament to the sort
7:57
Speaker 5: of kindness and humility that with which the arguments were made.
8:01
Speaker 5: And we were really proud of how we made the argument,
8:05
Speaker 5: an enormously proud of the result.
8:06

Speaker 6: JB.
8:22
Speaker 2: What is Tier four? Read a little bit about this?
8:24
Speaker 2: What is Tier four? And why are you leading a
8:26
Speaker 2: group of other ags in the fight against whatever T
8:29
Speaker 2: four is a Tier four?
8:30
Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I think your vehicle emission standards and the
8:34
Speaker 5: EPA's proposed rule under both the Obama and Biden administrations,
8:38
Speaker 5: which would have mandated all Americans and West Virginians to
8:43
Speaker 5: buy electric vehicles, and that is something that we have
8:46
Speaker 5: been fighting against viscerally. We believe in consumer choice and
8:51
Speaker 5: we believe pretty significantly that the consumers of this country
8:55
Speaker 5: were not listened to by the sort of greeno lefties
9:00
Speaker 5: that occupied the EPA and the Energy Department under our
9:03
Speaker 5: former president. And we have what we have done, and
9:07
Speaker 5: what we have fought for is to get these tear
9:09
Speaker 5: force standards to be delayed at the very least and
9:13
Speaker 5: hopefully eliminated in their totality, because what we've seen since
9:17
Speaker 5: they were created is that you know, electric vehicles are great,
9:21
Speaker 5: but consumers aren't champing at the bit to buy them.
9:24
Speaker 5: I mean, a lot of our large manufacturers have stopped
9:27
Speaker 5: making them their in totality. And so what we need
9:30
Speaker 5: to make sure is that people's cars that they already own,
9:32
Speaker 5: that they want to keep up older cars, and that
9:35
Speaker 5: going into the future, that the vehicles that so many
9:39
Speaker 5: West Virginians rely on are still available to purchase and
9:43
Speaker 5: available to be fixed. And this is another one of
9:46
Speaker 5: those situations where it's a big national issue, but West
9:49
Speaker 5: Virginia is sort of the leader in protecting not just
9:52
Speaker 5: the consumers here, but everybody.
9:54
Speaker 2: Talk about the lawsuits against Apple. You've been on the
9:56
Speaker 2: show talking about those in the past. Anything new to
9:58
Speaker 2: report there.
10:00
Speaker 5: Yeah, So we won. Apple filed emotion to remove the
10:07
Speaker 5: case to federal court. So we filed the case here
10:08
Speaker 5: in state court. These are state court claims, and we
10:11
Speaker 5: wanted to have West Virginia State Court judges hearing it.
10:14
Speaker 5: We would have been happy to be in federal court
10:15
Speaker 5: if we'd lost. But Apple brought in all their again,
10:18
Speaker 5: big DC and New York and LA lawyers and the
10:22
Speaker 5: whole group of them, and they came in and our
10:25
Speaker 5: group of lawyers won the day, and we actually got
10:29
Speaker 5: a ruling from the bench and the case has been
10:31
Speaker 5: remanded back to state court. And it's the first of
10:35
Speaker 5: many victories to get Apple to start playing ball to
10:40
Speaker 5: help us remedy this incredible worldwide problem of child abduction
10:46
Speaker 5: and exploitation. And so what Apple's doing is that they
10:49
Speaker 5: are hosting hundreds of millions of images of child sexual
10:53
Speaker 5: abuse and rape in their cloud, allowing those images to
10:57
Speaker 5: be distributed through their cloud and not help helping law
11:00
Speaker 5: enforcement find the animals who are taking these children and
11:04
Speaker 5: abusing them and filming them in their absolute worst moments
11:08
Speaker 5: for their own personal for their company's profit, and it's
11:12
Speaker 5: all under the guise of what they call being the
11:14
Speaker 5: most secure cloud. But we believe that's a dog whistle
11:17
Speaker 5: to those who would harm children, that that's the place
11:20
Speaker 5: where if you're going to have these pictures, you want
11:22
Speaker 5: to store them at Apple. And so we are we're
11:25
Speaker 5: very confident that this is going to be another large
11:29
Speaker 5: scale national bell Weather case where we hold one of
11:32
Speaker 5: our country's largest corporations accountable for harming our children.
11:36
Speaker 2: Before we let you go, I was in a little
11:39
Speaker 2: reading about some of your recent activities. Here there's a
11:41
Speaker 2: twenty nine point six million dollars settlement against Glenn Mark.
11:44
Speaker 2: What or who is Glen Mark?
11:47
Speaker 5: It's a that is a we are a piece of
11:50
Speaker 5: a thirty million dollars settlement. And this is, you know,
11:53
Speaker 5: one of these little bits of great work that our
11:55
Speaker 5: Consumer Division does, and that was a generic drug manufacturer
12:00
Speaker 5: was violating our consumer laws here in West Virginia. And
12:03
Speaker 5: so if I remember correctly, we will have just over
12:07
Speaker 5: a million dollars coming in to West Virginia based on
12:11
Speaker 5: them violating our state laws. And the really wonderful lawyers
12:14
Speaker 5: we have in our Consumer Division doing their jobs really
12:17
Speaker 5: well and so you know that that's a good sort
12:19
Speaker 5: of segue. If you are a consumer here in West
12:21
Speaker 5: Virginian and you have been harmed by by by a business,
12:27
Speaker 5: give us a call. You know, we just finished helping
12:31
Speaker 5: a really nice couple. They redid their kitchen and none
12:34
Speaker 5: of the appliances worked. They bought brand new appliances that
12:37
Speaker 5: you know, they did this whole kitchen remodel and the
12:40
Speaker 5: appliances didn't work, and the company that they bought these
12:43
Speaker 5: appliances from refused to come out and service them. They
12:46
Speaker 5: refuse to replace them. In about you know, two three
12:50
Speaker 5: weeks of work from some good lawyers in my office,
12:53
Speaker 5: they have a whole brand new kitchen and the warranties
12:56
Speaker 5: were all We're all honored. So you know, if you're
12:59
Speaker 5: in find yourself in a situation like that, even if
13:01
Speaker 5: it seems like it might be too small, please give
13:04
Speaker 5: us a call and let's give you some help.
13:06
Speaker 2: West Virginia Attorney General Jim mccusky always a pleasure to
13:08
Speaker 2: have you on the show. Sir, Be well and we'll

13:53
Speaker 2: Dek says the defensive Real Girls ruling was as it
13:56
Speaker 2: should be. For decades, doctors have said that the brain
13:58
Speaker 2: is not fully developed until the age of twenty five.
14:01
Speaker 2: So if we parent or quotation marks here trust the
14:04
Speaker 2: science like we've been lectured to do so for years now,
14:07
Speaker 2: then no, all caps. No child under eighteen is mentally
14:11
Speaker 2: emotionally or psychiatrically sound enough to make such a major
14:15
Speaker 2: life decision to choose their gender. Parents need to be
14:17
Speaker 2: held accountable for doing this to them. We're keeping a
14:21
Speaker 2: close eye on the weather. Yeah, we got some severe
14:23
Speaker 2: weather rolling into the area, especially late this afternoon. Some
14:27
Speaker 2: are you saw it a little bit earlier this morning,
14:30
Speaker 2: but for most of us it's going to be mid
14:31
Speaker 2: to late afternoon. Metro News mediorologist Brian Hughes going to
14:34
Speaker 2: join us talk about a little bit later on and
14:36
Speaker 2: we're talking dirty birds, baseball, fingers crossed. We can play
14:39

17:23

17:27
Speaker 2: let's talk a little baseball now. Our good friends from
17:29
Speaker 2: the Dirty Birds are here. We got the toast man,
17:31
Speaker 2: Rob Blackstone. How you doing, sir?
17:33
Speaker 10: Going all right, it's a beautiful day for baseball.
17:35
Speaker 2: Beat right now, right now it is a big bluff
17:38
Speaker 2: with the Dirty Birds. GM's here with us. Well, good afternoon, sir,
17:41
Speaker 2: welcome to the show. Good morning, good afternoon, and good night,
17:43
Speaker 2: Happy new year, you know whatever, all the things, all
17:46
Speaker 2: the things all right. So we can't do right now
17:49
Speaker 2: we're talking about it off the air. You can't do
17:50
Speaker 2: anything about the weather, well, Bill Brian hughes on that
17:53
Speaker 2: a little bit later on, but we could hope for
17:55
Speaker 2: the best as we kick off a special week with
17:58
Speaker 2: the camc Vandelia Health all being saluted this week. Lots
18:01
Speaker 2: of things going on all around. It's gonna be a
18:03
Speaker 2: great week at the ballpark.
18:05
Speaker 10: Rod, It's a great time to be there. We've got
18:08
Speaker 10: Vendela Health Week. It's something we expanded a few years
18:11
Speaker 10: ago from just having a CMC night when you're a
18:14
Speaker 10: twenty four to seven operation. Actually, I think Ben was
18:16
Speaker 10: the one who first came up with a plan to say,
18:18
Speaker 10: let's make it into a week and let's just instead
18:21
Speaker 10: of everybody coming at once, let's try to have people
18:24
Speaker 10: come on any time that they want to. So this week,
18:26
Speaker 10: what we're trying this year, what we're trying to do
18:27
Speaker 10: is say we're going to try to say, for instance,
18:31
Speaker 10: night Memorial Hospital here over there Friday with the mascot
18:34
Speaker 10: taking pictures. Hey, this is your night. If you all
18:36
Speaker 10: want to come together, come on Tuesday night, and General
18:39
Speaker 10: come on Thursday, and the Cancer Center come on Friday
18:42
Speaker 10: for Strikeout Cancer Night, and women and Children's come on
18:46
Speaker 10: Sunday when kids get in free. And then we're doing
18:48
Speaker 10: a women in health celebration as part of Women Making
18:51
Speaker 10: a Difference Night tomorrow night. Did you know that seventy
18:54
Speaker 10: five percent of the employees it's in the Vandalia Health
18:57
Speaker 10: System where women I do not know them, and a
18:59
Speaker 10: pretty ercentage of the leadership team are women too, So
19:03
Speaker 10: it's pretty amazing. So we're celebrating women in healthcare as
19:06
Speaker 10: part of Women Making a Difference Night, which is also
19:08
Speaker 10: a pretty major celebration that includes Christy Martin coming and
19:12
Speaker 10: also Marshall's head basketball coach Jill Folks, who's going to
19:17
Speaker 10: be there to do a panel discussion before the game
19:20
Speaker 10: and to answer some questions.
19:21
Speaker 2: Well tomorrow night, right.
19:22
Speaker 10: Yeah, women making different nights Tomorrow night, and this sponsored
19:26
Speaker 10: by the YWCA because they're also going to have Christy
19:29
Speaker 10: Martin talking more go in depth at the YWCA on
19:32
Speaker 10: Thursday night for a for a more intimate kind of program,
19:36
Speaker 10: one that can talk about domestic violence and what Christy
19:38
Speaker 10: Martin's been through in her experience that she now shares.
19:41
Speaker 2: And she's great because I've interviewed her several times in
19:44
Speaker 2: the past, and you know, she if you don't know
19:46
Speaker 2: her story, native of Mullins, West Virginia and Wyoming County,
19:49
Speaker 2: and rose to international fame, had Don King in her
19:53
Speaker 2: corner and others, you know, a cover of Sports Illustrated,
19:57
Speaker 2: and then what people didn't know, guys, was the struggle
20:00
Speaker 2: she was having behind the scenes with an abusive situation.
20:03
Speaker 2: Now she has basically post boxing, has devoted her life
20:08
Speaker 2: to trying to explain all the different factors that that
20:13
Speaker 2: go in to domestic violence, because, as she explained to
20:16
Speaker 2: me and so many of our listeners know, it's not
20:19
Speaker 2: just physical. There's a whole lot more to it than
20:22
Speaker 2: than just that. And I think she does a great
20:24
Speaker 2: job of talking about that and and she she's a
20:26
Speaker 2: fantastic ambassador.
20:28
Speaker 10: And I think she might be coming on with you.
20:30
Speaker 1: Is that right?
20:31
Speaker 2: Is that possible? I think so yeah, on midday. I
20:33
Speaker 2: think she's going to be on tomorrow. I think is
20:34
Speaker 2: what we're working on there. So, Ben, how are things
20:37
Speaker 2: going so far? We'll continue with this week. I just
20:39
Speaker 2: want to ask you overall, how's the season going so far?
20:42
Speaker 11: Well, the first half is gone, so we just we
20:45
Speaker 11: ignore that.
20:45
Speaker 2: We start back at zero zero. It's a great thing
20:47
Speaker 2: about the way this league works. You know, it's a
20:49
Speaker 2: totally different season.
20:50
Speaker 11: You know, you get two tries, so the second half
20:53
Speaker 11: is going better. Bj has made some great changes, you know,
20:56
Speaker 11: he brought back Isaiah s Tejeda and uh, you know,
20:59
Speaker 11: we've had some injuries, but we've made some changes to
21:02
Speaker 11: the pitching arsenal and you know, it's it's been nice.
21:06
Speaker 11: We took four games against Southern Maryland, so that's that
21:09
Speaker 11: they're going to the player they were number one last Yeah.
21:11
Speaker 2: First.
21:12
Speaker 11: Yeah, So you know, I'm excited to see what the
21:15
Speaker 11: next couple of weeks bring as we you know, make
21:17
Speaker 11: our run. But it's it's definitely good. To see, you know,
21:20
Speaker 11: the guys hitting lots of home runs and it's it's
21:22
Speaker 11: just tons of fun to watch the way the PJ
21:24
Speaker 11: puts together a team because you know, he focuses heavy,
21:27
Speaker 11: heavy on people that can hit the ball very well,
21:30
Speaker 11: and when they do, it's it's really exciting.
21:32
Speaker 2: All right, Rod, what else we got going on this week?
21:35
Speaker 10: Well, we have two dollars. Tuesday is tonight also and
21:40
Speaker 10: it's dollar Beer Night on Thursday. Friday is barking the
21:43
Speaker 10: park is that we still calling, okay, And Saturday is
21:47
Speaker 10: Christmas in July. Saturday, Vandelia Health is sponsoring the firework
21:51
Speaker 10: show after the game as a way to sort of
21:53
Speaker 10: celebrate the entire system and kind of their rebranding as
21:56
Speaker 10: they move more and more toward being associated with Vandela Health.
21:59
Speaker 10: It is it is the number one healthcare the number
22:02
Speaker 10: one healthcare provider here in the southern part of the
22:04
Speaker 10: state and now with almost a state wide reach. So
22:08
Speaker 10: they'll be sponsoring the fireworks. Sunday is kids get in
22:11
Speaker 10: free anyway, so we're also emphasizing it's also Dusty's birthday
22:15
Speaker 10: and Andrew Shea's birthday on Sunday, and I think there's
22:18
Speaker 10: a special promotion for kids that are eight and under
22:21
Speaker 10: that the families get in free.
22:22
Speaker 12: Yep.
22:22
Speaker 11: So it's the eighth year that Andy's done this with
22:26
Speaker 11: his son Andrew Shay And if you have an eight
22:29
Speaker 11: year older under, there's a special link on our Facebook
22:32
Speaker 11: to go get free tickets for the whole family to
22:34
Speaker 11: come and join the celebration. So not only do we
22:38
Speaker 11: have that on Sunday, but we have Santa Claus coming
22:41
Speaker 11: on seven twenty five, which is Christmas in July. He's
22:44
Speaker 11: going to come visit, throw a first pitch and walk
22:46
Speaker 11: around the concourse and give away some good and some
22:49
Speaker 11: goodies to the kiddos.
22:50
Speaker 10: One of the other things about Tomorrow Night is that
22:52
Speaker 10: we are honoring about thirty twenty five to thirty women
22:55
Speaker 10: We've asked for nominations Difference. It's called Women Making a
22:58
Speaker 10: Difference Night because because it celebrates all the different ways
23:01
Speaker 10: that women make a difference in the lives of our community,
23:04
Speaker 10: in the lives of our people, and so we've asked
23:07
Speaker 10: people to nominate women who make a difference, often un
23:10
Speaker 10: heralded women who make a difference. So we're gonna be
23:12
Speaker 10: lining the all Star team up on the line before
23:15
Speaker 10: the game tomorrow night, having been able to receive all
23:19
Speaker 10: these nominations from people and being able to celebrate all
23:22
Speaker 10: the different ways that women make a difference in our
23:24
Speaker 10: communities and beyond. Really so it's a great celebration. It
23:29
Speaker 10: is the third of the sort of out special outreach
23:33
Speaker 10: programs that we do identifying and reaching out to largely
23:37
Speaker 10: underrepresented segments of the population underrepresented at the ballpark. That
23:41
Speaker 10: is the Pride Night, the Baseball for US African American
23:44
Speaker 10: Heritage Night, and then Women Making a Difference Night, as
23:47
Speaker 10: we do some outright outreach and say you are welcome
23:50
Speaker 10: here talk.
23:51
Speaker 2: About some of the I mean, I don't know, are
23:52
Speaker 2: you at liberty to discuss who the women are or
23:55
Speaker 2: or their backgrounds or anything. At this point, I don't
23:57
Speaker 2: want to give away too much, but I mean, can
23:58
Speaker 2: you tell me where the way? Because you good that
24:00
Speaker 2: you took nominations, so can you tell us anything more
24:03
Speaker 2: I should have brought?
24:05
Speaker 8: No.
24:06
Speaker 10: I'll give one example. It's a professor at the West
24:08
Speaker 10: Virginia State University. He's worked with one of our season
24:10
Speaker 10: ticket holders and in his fledgling broadcast career. For instance. Uh,
24:15
Speaker 10: there's also somebody who has taken in is who's worked
24:20
Speaker 10: with children all her life and has taken in a
24:23
Speaker 10: whole lot of foster children to be able to say, hey,
24:26
Speaker 10: we're going to at least keep give you a good
24:27
Speaker 10: place in a good house to live in. So those
24:30
Speaker 10: are two that immediately come to mind that I know of,
24:32
Speaker 10: but it's a whole lot of it's a it's across
24:34
Speaker 10: the board. People who are professionals, people who you've heard of,
24:37
Speaker 10: but some you haven't that are just going to be
24:40
Speaker 10: honored as people who make a difference in the life.
24:42
Speaker 2: The people that you haven't heard from him many times,
24:44
Speaker 2: their stories are even more remarkable because you know they're
24:47
Speaker 2: not doing it for their name in the paper or
24:49
Speaker 2: on the radio or whatever.
24:50
Speaker 10: That's exactly right. And so that's why it's it's to
24:53
Speaker 10: be mostly unheralded women because but there are some names
24:56
Speaker 10: that will recognize on there. And I think we're gonna
24:58
Speaker 10: make you extra too that involved in women making a
25:01
Speaker 10: difference night for the last four years to.
25:03
Speaker 2: Talk about the importance of activities Rod as it pertains
25:07
Speaker 2: to the Dirty Birds, Why is it so important that
25:09
Speaker 2: you guys do, because I mean, it's all about the baseball.
25:12
Speaker 2: We know that, but the Dirty Birds do a lot
25:13
Speaker 2: more than just a baseball game.
25:15
Speaker 10: Well, and especially whenever you don't have a winning team,
25:18
Speaker 10: you want it to be about more than just the baseball.
25:20
Speaker 2: So I'm going to turn that around, though, right man,
25:22
Speaker 2: We're gonna turn it around.
25:23
Speaker 10: We are going to turn that around. But this is
25:25
Speaker 10: something I learned a long time ago. I think the
25:26
Speaker 10: first time I was working for the team back in
25:28
Speaker 10: nineteen ninety six, when I was doing that for a
25:30
Speaker 10: year and a half, and the research says that and
25:33
Speaker 10: that was an affiliated ball where you have no control
25:36
Speaker 10: over the quality of your baseball players, and the goal
25:39
Speaker 10: is to be able to attract people to come and
25:41
Speaker 10: have them leave having a good time, regardless of the score.
25:45
Speaker 10: So it's about the baseball experience more than it's just
25:47
Speaker 10: about the game. Yeah, So some the purists will say, yeah,
25:50
Speaker 10: it's all about the baseball, and that's why the purists
25:52
Speaker 10: probably don't.
25:52
Speaker 2: Like me very much.
25:54
Speaker 10: But it's also about the experience. And what are you
25:55
Speaker 10: experienced too? Fair well?
25:59
Speaker 2: Is that okay, baseball is just one of those rare
26:02
Speaker 2: sports though that you're right, guys. It is about the
26:05
Speaker 2: experience when you go to a ballpark. If you talk
26:07
Speaker 2: to anybody, whether they go to go Mark Ballpark or
26:09
Speaker 2: they go to Yankee Stadium, it doesn't matter if you
26:12
Speaker 2: ask them how was the game it I've noticed that
26:16
Speaker 2: a lot of times they won't, Well, they won't say
26:18
Speaker 2: well we lost six to two. They'll throw that in
26:20
Speaker 2: there somewhere, but they'll say, man, these hot dogs were great.
26:23
Speaker 9: Man.
26:23
Speaker 2: The parking situation, man, the team store there on the
26:28
Speaker 2: site was great. I mean that's kind of like what
26:31
Speaker 2: they talk about there.
26:33
Speaker 10: What's the lasting impression we're going to make, right? And
26:35
Speaker 10: is it this if it's a score.
26:37
Speaker 2: Of the game.
26:37
Speaker 10: Yeah, sometimes that happens when we have a walk off
26:39
Speaker 10: Grand Slam or something like that. But it's much more
26:42
Speaker 10: than that. And that's what That's what Ben does for
26:44
Speaker 10: a living, is to make sure that the experience goes
26:46
Speaker 10: well for people.
26:48
Speaker 11: The goal is fun, you know. As long as we're
26:50
Speaker 11: here to have fun and we're enjoying ourselves, I think
26:53
Speaker 11: we're doing the right thing.
26:54
Speaker 2: All right, go over the schedule with this once again.
26:56
Speaker 10: There and right if you don't care, Kay, every night
26:59
Speaker 10: scheduled for six five and tonight two dollars Tuesday. It's
27:04
Speaker 10: also Vandela Health Week we're celebrating Memorial Hospital employees in
27:07
Speaker 10: the cardiopulmonary program. Over there are Women Making a Difference
27:10
Speaker 10: Night program really starting between five thirty and five forty
27:13
Speaker 10: five with Christy Martin and Coach Folks and then the
27:18
Speaker 10: Women Making Difference Night All Stars right before the game
27:21
Speaker 10: of six thirty Thursday, Dollar Beer Night. It's also celebrating
27:24
Speaker 10: General Hospital employees in the Neuroscience Center that's going to
27:28
Speaker 10: become our neighbor over there. CMC Foundation Strikeout Cancer if
27:31
Speaker 10: you are if you're a cancer survivor, come, We've got
27:34
Speaker 10: some T shirts that we've made that are special for
27:36
Speaker 10: cancer survivors that were made by were designed by a
27:40
Speaker 10: patient at Women and Children's Hospital in fact too. And
27:43
Speaker 10: then Saturday Fireworks with Christmas in July Pandelic Health System
27:48
Speaker 10: celebration Women and Children's Hospital kids get in free on
27:51
Speaker 10: Sunday with the big birthday party for Dusty and Andrewshe
27:55
Speaker 10: what am I missing? All the winds that we're going
27:58
Speaker 10: to have, Oh yeah, hoping to have at least take
28:01
Speaker 10: six four out of six from Gastonia. Gastonia was one
28:03
Speaker 10: of the better teams in the first time. They've been
28:05
Speaker 10: struggling so they're behind us right now, but it's it'll
28:08
Speaker 10: be a good test to see how we how we're
28:09
Speaker 10: really doing here in the second half. The ghost peppers,
28:12
Speaker 10: the ghost pep and I got in the mail yesterday
28:15
Speaker 10: some ghost pepper candy, so if somebody strikes out, it's
28:17
Speaker 10: kind of hot. So I'm not sure if I should
28:19
Speaker 10: just pass it out to kids like it.
28:20
Speaker 2: Probably not, you can save it for me. I love ghost.
28:23
Speaker 10: Pepper stuff, the ghost pepper candies.
28:24
Speaker 1: Have you ever?
28:25
Speaker 2: I never had one?
28:25
Speaker 13: Now?
28:25
Speaker 10: Okay, So usually because when somebody strikes out three times
28:29
Speaker 10: for the other team, we call them by some other name,
28:31
Speaker 10: like the York team, we call mister York Pepperman Patty
28:34
Speaker 10: or the Krabby Patties, or Southern Maryland or the Lexington Lemonheads,
28:38
Speaker 10: and then we pass out different little snacks. So these
28:41
Speaker 10: are a little hotter. Okay, they just came in the
28:43
Speaker 10: mail yesterday, so I'm warmed in dangerous.
28:46
Speaker 2: You see, where does one get ghost pepper candy?
28:49
Speaker 10: Some big distribution company.
28:52
Speaker 2: In the sky. All right, Ride Blackstone and Ben Blum,
28:55
Speaker 2: appreciate you both being here. Thanks lot, and we'll keep
28:57
Speaker 2: a close eye to whether I got Hughes coming up
28:59
Speaker 2: on our next segment here on the weather. You know,
29:01
Speaker 2: you can shake him up a little bit if you
29:03
Speaker 2: want to say, we need to get to try to
29:04
Speaker 2: get this game, and because a lot of people are
29:06
Speaker 2: going to be concerned about you, normally don't make the
29:08
Speaker 2: decision till like five o'clock or so something like that.
29:11
Speaker 11: I have a long standing I don't look at the
29:13
Speaker 11: weather until five o'clock. I get asked quite a bit
29:17
Speaker 11: during the day, what's what are we doing for tonight?
29:19
Speaker 2: What's the weather looked like? So you don't say the
29:21
Speaker 2: same thing, no decision five.
29:23
Speaker 11: I'll listen to what the fine man has to say, but.
29:27
Speaker 10: He is pretty good at predict from a personal experience.
29:30
Speaker 11: You know, I will say that there is quite a
29:32
Speaker 11: quite a bit of times that it looks at five
29:35
Speaker 11: o'clock like we're going to be wet at six thirty,
29:37
Speaker 11: and then at six o'clock we're no longer going to
29:40
Speaker 11: be wet, and we're playing baseball at six thirty.
29:42
Speaker 10: Last homestand prime example.
29:43
Speaker 11: I just I don't want to rehash it eighteen times
29:46
Speaker 11: when the players or the managers, so you know, I
29:49
Speaker 11: say five o'clock, I'll take a look and you know,
29:51
Speaker 11: if it looks like we're gonna get a little moist,
29:53
Speaker 11: the answer is, we will play baseball.
29:56
Speaker 3: It just depends on Yeah.
29:57
Speaker 2: I mean, in under the current set up with the
29:59
Speaker 2: turf and everything, you're concerned would be high winds and likening,
30:02
Speaker 2: not so much rain.
30:03
Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean, even the rain isn't as much of
30:06
Speaker 11: a factor as it used to be just because of
30:09
Speaker 11: the surface. But you know, I mean, the players will
30:12
Speaker 11: play as long as they feel safe and the umpires
30:14
Speaker 11: keep them out there quite a bit. So you know,
30:17
Speaker 11: I think that the one thing I try not to
30:19
Speaker 11: do is start a baseball game in the rain, you know,
30:21
Speaker 11: But if we have a window to start the game,
30:23
Speaker 11: we're going to and we will. But you know, I
30:26
Speaker 11: think it's it's definitely a step in the right direction
30:29
Speaker 11: for Charleston having the turf. You know, that investment has
30:33
Speaker 11: paid for itself and dividends, I hope, and you know,
30:35
Speaker 11: it's made it so that we can rely on baseball
30:37
Speaker 11: and Charleston instead of hoping to look at the weather
30:41
Speaker 11: at five o'clock.
30:42
Speaker 2: Well, and the good thing is is that again we're
30:45
Speaker 2: keeping a close eye on this evening. I know you're
30:47
Speaker 2: not until five o'clock. But after this, Brian says, we
30:51
Speaker 2: got some absolutely fantastic weather. Temperatures one day are going
30:54
Speaker 2: to be in the upper seventies pretty much all the
30:56
Speaker 2: way through the weekend. So that is good news for
30:58
Speaker 2: the dirty birds homestand against the ghost peppers of guests.
31:01
Speaker 10: The turf also means that the general manager and the
31:03
Speaker 10: oldest guy and the staff don't have to be on
31:05
Speaker 10: the on the tarp crew.
31:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, not true. Nothing like a good Tarti pol tarp
31:09
Speaker 2: once and it was in Savannah.
31:11
Speaker 10: Wow, yeah, one time.
31:13
Speaker 12: Never again.
31:15
Speaker 2: That's why you got silver and make him do that. Yes,
31:17
Speaker 2: all right, all right, guys, appreciate you being here. All right,
31:19
Speaker 2: it is twenty one minutes now before ten o'clock. We'll
31:22
Speaker 2: take a break up back after this with mediorology to

31:47
Speaker 14: During the inspection of our old unit, their technician discovered
31:50
Speaker 14: a crack in the heat exchanger that was slowly leaking
31:53

34:37
Speaker 2: Metro News meteorologist Brian Hughes joins us now at the
34:39
Speaker 2: Jeric Construction Studios. Good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
34:42
Speaker 3: Well it's good to be here.
34:43
Speaker 13: Just getting some new data in from the Storm Addiction Center, and.
34:48
Speaker 3: It's everything is lining up exactly.
34:51
Speaker 13: What I was weaking over the last couple hours is
34:52
Speaker 13: that we may we may move the timetable up just
34:55
Speaker 13: to touch by an hour or two. Probably an hour
34:58
Speaker 13: for sure, maybe two hours. But it's going to be
35:01
Speaker 13: a volatile afternoon, and the tornado threat has they have
35:04
Speaker 13: expanded that across deeper into West Virginia for this afternoon,
35:09
Speaker 13: in this evening.
35:09
Speaker 1: Now.
35:10
Speaker 2: You had said when we interviewed you yesterday, you said
35:13
Speaker 2: that if we got showers and thunderstorms overnight, you know, listen,
35:18
Speaker 2: think six seven hours or so ago, that it may
35:21
Speaker 2: decrease the severity of what we would see. I know
35:23
Speaker 2: some areas did get some rain. I think I saw
35:25
Speaker 2: where Jackson County got some. I think the Rohan County
35:28
Speaker 2: area got some. But did we didn't get any. And
35:30
Speaker 2: I saw by my wet pavement this morning the Charleston.
35:33
Speaker 13: Area, right we had some of the showers and storms
35:36
Speaker 13: that were actually we've got some out there right now.
35:38
Speaker 13: As a matter of fact, we've got some that are
35:39
Speaker 13: about back down across parts of Lincoln County, southern Lincoln
35:43
Speaker 13: County working the way to the northeast. As a matter of fact, actually,
35:46
Speaker 13: let me just put the radar in the emotion. He
35:48
Speaker 13: in real quick, moving on to the east one of these,
35:50
Speaker 13: So excuse me, you got to go into the Madison
35:52
Speaker 13: area and also Danville.
35:54
Speaker 3: We've got a couple of showers there.
35:55
Speaker 13: So you know, we've got a couple of these showers
35:57
Speaker 13: that we were just going to have us to radically
36:00
Speaker 13: pop up here or there. But it's gonna be the
36:02
Speaker 13: line of storms that moves in this afternoon, and that's
36:04
Speaker 13: gonna be closer. That'll be somewhere to put between four
36:07
Speaker 13: and five o'clock, most likely in Charleston. Now it could
36:11
Speaker 13: be as early as three, but probably about round four
36:13
Speaker 13: or five is going to be the best time for that.
36:15
Speaker 13: And the tornado thread has increased across the area. I've
36:18
Speaker 13: talked about this on Steve and Jenny this morning. The
36:20
Speaker 13: Significant Tornado Parameter STP is produced by the various forecast models.
36:26
Speaker 13: Now it was a product exclusively at the storm addictions
36:29
Speaker 13: in Norman, Oklahoma, but they've been able to put into
36:32
Speaker 13: forecast models. Now we're able to see that we're the anoma,
36:36
Speaker 13: we're the anomaly of what we're doing with today is
36:39
Speaker 13: significantly high, not just for West Virginia in general, but
36:43
Speaker 13: for this time of year specifically. When we're looking at that,
36:47
Speaker 13: Normally you would see that maybe get to one, maybe two,
36:51
Speaker 13: and that's that would be a typical springtime extreme event.
36:55
Speaker 13: We're seeing it anywhere from two to three and a
36:58
Speaker 13: half to three point eight and that is significant across
37:02
Speaker 13: parts of our parts of our region.
37:04
Speaker 2: Yeah. Again, we're talking with the meteorologist is Brian Hughes,
37:08
Speaker 2: and so we were talking to the gas from the
37:10
Speaker 2: Dirty Birds earlier. They're very hopeful that they'll be able
37:12
Speaker 2: to get that game in tonight. But if it were
37:14
Speaker 2: to be postponed, don't want to put any negative juju
37:16
Speaker 2: out there, Brian, but if it were to be postponed,
37:18
Speaker 2: it would probably be because of the of the lightning.
37:20
Speaker 13: Right Yeah, it would be lightning because right now, I
37:22
Speaker 13: mean I'm just looking up around Columbus right now, significant
37:25
Speaker 13: significant lightning show that's happening there right now. The one
37:29
Speaker 13: thing that we are looking at as we go into
37:31
Speaker 13: this afternoon into this evening will be a significant amount
37:36
Speaker 13: of lightning. You know, you've just got due points that
37:38
Speaker 13: are incredibly high. You've got a tropical atmosphere that's sitting
37:42
Speaker 13: on top of us. And then when you add the
37:45
Speaker 13: upper level components that are all coming together, it means
37:47
Speaker 13: we're going to have a significant a significant amount of lightning.
37:51
Speaker 3: Because we're in the middle of July.
37:53
Speaker 13: Anytime you get a thunderstorm popping up, it's going to
37:56
Speaker 13: have a lot of lightning. But you add the cold
37:58
Speaker 13: run end of the mix here everything else, this is going
38:00
Speaker 13: to be a humdinger of a day for lightning and
38:03
Speaker 13: thunder across the region.
38:04
Speaker 3: So a lot of power outages.
38:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, and we haven't even mentioned the flooding because if
38:08
Speaker 2: these if these storms, as we call it training, you know,
38:11
Speaker 2: get over one area for any significant amount of time,
38:14
Speaker 2: we could be seeing some flooding issues in many areas.
38:17
Speaker 13: Yeah, we are at a matter of fact, one thing
38:19
Speaker 13: I am concerned about. You know, here we are, we're
38:21
Speaker 13: almost ten am. You know you've got let's see that'd
38:23
Speaker 13: be I'm just I'm looking at the radar here specifically
38:26
Speaker 13: there's ten uh, there would be eleven twelve one, you know,
38:30
Speaker 13: probably in the north central parts of West Virginia. And
38:33
Speaker 13: mind you this is here, we're here on the air locally,
38:36
Speaker 13: but north central West Virginia is going to have a
38:37
Speaker 13: better flooding opportunity back into the Panhandle and Pittsburgh Morgantown
38:42
Speaker 13: area because of the storms that'll be passing by first.
38:44
Speaker 13: But then you get the line later on and you've
38:47
Speaker 13: got that's going to happen that's going to move through
38:49
Speaker 13: here three four o'clock at three four five o'clock somewhere
38:52
Speaker 13: in that timeframe. Then you get another line that's going
38:54
Speaker 13: to happen behind that. You know, that's just going to
38:56
Speaker 13: aggravate any sort of flash flowing that we might have
38:58
Speaker 13: already had coming by the air. So the hierarchy of
39:01
Speaker 13: what's the most important here today is that it's going
39:04
Speaker 13: to be damaging wind will be the primary threat. Secondary
39:07
Speaker 13: threat is going to be the tornado threat as we
39:09
Speaker 13: go into the afternoon in early evening hours. Then after
39:12
Speaker 13: that you've got obviously the lightning, thunder significant hell is
39:16
Speaker 13: actually very low today.
39:17
Speaker 3: We do get hell.
39:18
Speaker 13: Let me tell you something, it'll be it'll be one
39:20
Speaker 13: of the strongest storms we've had in a long time, but.
39:22
Speaker 2: It'll be a halo of a hailstorm.
39:23
Speaker 3: It'll be a hell of hellstrom that is for sure,
39:25
Speaker 3: that about.
39:25
Speaker 2: It if we get it, but you say we probably won't.
39:27
Speaker 3: Yeah, the health's rate is very low today.
39:29
Speaker 13: But then we've also got to look at what's happening
39:32
Speaker 13: as we go into tonight, and that's when the flooding
39:34
Speaker 13: risk continues to increase going into this evening and tonight,
39:37
Speaker 13: so damaging win us down burst style wind which will
39:41
Speaker 13: do significant damage. Matter of fact, a lot of folks
39:44
Speaker 13: will think the tornado hip it's going to be straight
39:46
Speaker 13: lined sort of win damaging flat.
39:47
Speaker 2: It would be winded, not necessarily tornado. A lot of
39:49
Speaker 2: people will think that, I.
39:50
Speaker 3: Know, correct.
39:50
Speaker 2: And if you got stuff outside, I mean I left
39:52
Speaker 2: the house this morning. My wife was already out there
39:54
Speaker 2: taking down plants and flags and things of that nature,
39:57
Speaker 2: you know this morning.
39:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's the thing.
39:59
Speaker 13: You've just got to be prepared for what's going to
40:01
Speaker 13: happen later on today. I you know, the one thing
40:04
Speaker 13: I've said is that, you know a number of folks
40:06
Speaker 13: here in the building have been like, when do I
40:07
Speaker 13: need to go home? And I'm like, I honestly, I'd
40:10
Speaker 13: say you start playing hookey about three four o'clock today,
40:14
Speaker 13: just to get out ahead of the storm before it
40:16
Speaker 13: gets in here, and that the way you're you're prepping
40:18
Speaker 13: ready at home. I mean I'd rather have everybody at
40:21
Speaker 13: home prepped with their kids, the pets, the whole nine
40:24
Speaker 13: yards and saye than you know, trying to make the
40:27
Speaker 13: almighty dollar the last.
40:28
Speaker 2: Thing that they did. Now you know what you just did, though,
40:30
Speaker 2: I know, I just you just know what. There's some
40:33
Speaker 2: people out here right now that'll go, wait a minute,
40:35
Speaker 2: you said that I should go home. It's like like
40:37
Speaker 2: an early discressal in January.
40:38
Speaker 6: But you.
40:41
Speaker 13: Take this one and run with it. It's the only
40:43
Speaker 13: time you're going to get this summer.
40:44
Speaker 2: I mean, we all remember a couple of years ago,
40:47
Speaker 2: the big storm that rolled through here. What was it
40:49
Speaker 2: twenty twenty What do we have the tornado job every morning?
40:52
Speaker 2: Twenty twenty two?
40:53
Speaker 13: That was let's see, this is twenty six five, twenty four,
40:57
Speaker 13: it was twenty.
40:58
Speaker 2: Four a couple of was a couple of years ago, because.
41:01
Speaker 3: I got twenty four. I think it's twenty twenty four.
41:02
Speaker 2: Okay. I remember being in the building with that hit,
41:04
Speaker 2: and that was that was kind of interesting being a
41:06
Speaker 2: downtown Charleston with something like that hits. And the reason
41:09
Speaker 2: I say this is because we talk about severe weather
41:11
Speaker 2: all the time, but it's not every day that every
41:14
Speaker 2: all the weather models come together and you say, we
41:16
Speaker 2: got some concerns for today unlike what we've seen in
41:20
Speaker 2: the past, right, fair statement, yes, or in the recent past.
41:22
Speaker 3: I shouldn't. Yeah, it's mefic.
41:24
Speaker 13: Actually, I can probably tell you the exact date that
41:26
Speaker 13: we had that, because I remember I was on the
41:28
Speaker 13: air doing all that. But yeah, that was a that
41:32
Speaker 13: was twenty I think it was twenty twenty four.
41:35
Speaker 2: All right, well he does that. I'll remind you that
41:37
Speaker 2: Todave Island Show on five eighty Live is brought to

41:50
Speaker 2: Dot Net helping you understand your environment because what you
41:53
Speaker 2: don't know can't hurt you.
41:54
Speaker 3: It was twenty twenty four, so I thought.
41:55
Speaker 2: It was twenty twenty two. Okay, you're the one I
41:58
Speaker 2: look at it up, all right. One of the things
42:00
Speaker 2: I want to kind of address here with you and
42:02
Speaker 2: other weather professionals, no matter where they may be right now.
42:06
Speaker 2: And that is these graphics that you see constantly on
42:09
Speaker 2: social media. You know, it's like the bane of existence
42:13
Speaker 2: of serious weather forecasters, no matter whether JEW or one
42:15
Speaker 2: of the TV stations, or or National Weather Service or whatever.
42:19
Speaker 2: Because I keep seeing this map floating out there. This
42:21
Speaker 2: is d ratio, And we all remember the ratio of
42:25
Speaker 2: twenty twelve, how that all played out. That's just not
42:29
Speaker 2: that kind of situation though.
42:30
Speaker 13: No, because back then when we had that, when we
42:32
Speaker 13: had the de ratio that moved through, we were looking
42:35
Speaker 13: at the temperature was one hundred plus degrees. Our heat
42:38
Speaker 13: index values were absurd. We had we had all the
42:42
Speaker 13: juice that we have today. But you need those extreme
42:45
Speaker 13: temperatures because then that storm system which is hundreds of
42:49
Speaker 13: miles in length and is doing wind damage that is
42:53
Speaker 13: seventy to one hundred miles per our wind gusts that
42:55
Speaker 13: are all numerous spots along the line. You've got to
42:59
Speaker 13: have something like that that it is significant. Now we've
43:02
Speaker 13: had derachos since then. We've had a couple of them
43:04
Speaker 13: pass by, a couple of them small, we've had a
43:06
Speaker 13: couple of a couple of other ones that have just
43:09
Speaker 13: been barely meeting the criteria, but nothing obviously like that one.
43:13
Speaker 13: We're seventy five percent of the state was without power.
43:16
Speaker 2: It's one of those terms that folks throw out there,
43:19
Speaker 2: like blizzard. For example, an eight inch snowfall is notily
43:24
Speaker 2: a blizzard, No, because blizzard is about the wind. It's
43:28
Speaker 2: not about the snow.
43:29
Speaker 13: Right and and that's the same thing that we look
43:31
Speaker 13: at with this is that it's not about the It's
43:34
Speaker 13: not about the actual wind when gus that you might
43:37
Speaker 13: have in this one location. It's about the wind across
43:40
Speaker 13: the entire line. Yeah, so you have thresholds that you
43:43
Speaker 13: have to meet. But I can tell you this everybody
43:46
Speaker 13: anytime we talk about wind and when being the primary
43:49
Speaker 13: threat and they see a line of storms, they automatically
43:52
Speaker 13: go to the d racho, you know, comparison. We can't
43:55
Speaker 13: compare everything to the dracho that we had because that was,
43:59
Speaker 13: as we talk talked about in the break. Uh, it
44:01
Speaker 13: is once in a lifetime style event. Could have happened again, Yeah,
44:05
Speaker 13: probably can it will, but uh, you know the fact
44:08
Speaker 13: that the fact that we're going to take the entire
44:10
Speaker 13: almost the entire state and knock it out of power.
44:13
Speaker 13: Stuff like that. It's gonna it takes an act of Congress.
44:15
Speaker 13: And what's happening right now across Ohio with the storms,
44:19
Speaker 13: with the storms ramping up and moving off to the east,
44:22
Speaker 13: that that would preclude us from having a durracho today
44:26
Speaker 13: because it's taken the atmosphere and it's it's cutting it,
44:28
Speaker 13: cutting the juice off right now. If we had clear
44:31
Speaker 13: skies across so all of Ohio, man, you could have
44:35
Speaker 13: a hell of a day as far as thunderstorms are
44:38
Speaker 13: concerned today.
44:39
Speaker 3: But we have a lot of clouds.
44:40
Speaker 13: And those clouds out there are that's going to be
44:43
Speaker 13: the clouds are going to be the catalyst in all
44:45
Speaker 13: of this today. How thick are they? Where do we
44:48
Speaker 13: get the sunshine? Where does the destabilization of the atmosphere occur?
44:51
Speaker 13: And uh, you know, and what other what other things
44:54
Speaker 13: are happening in the upper mid that we.
44:55
Speaker 2: Don't want sunshine?
44:57
Speaker 3: No, we don't, but no sunshine, we don't.
44:59
Speaker 2: But I no sunshine when she's gone.
45:01
Speaker 3: That is correct.
45:02
Speaker 13: But when I look at the satellite imagery, I look
45:04
Speaker 13: in southern Ohio, look at Cincinnati, Maysville, Kentucky, I look
45:08
Speaker 13: back at the back at there Jackson, Kentucky. You go
45:11
Speaker 13: up to even to the point Pleasant area, we've got
45:14
Speaker 13: a little sunshine breaking through. So as we look at
45:18
Speaker 13: that Matterick, I'm gonna turn some of this step off here,
45:22
Speaker 13: some of this data that I've got and look at
45:24
Speaker 13: what's all happening here. And yeah, you've got some of
45:27
Speaker 13: his little showers developing. This line is from just near
45:30
Speaker 13: Paintsful all the way back up to Madison, and a
45:34
Speaker 13: couple of little showers are starting to pop off just
45:36
Speaker 13: off to the north and east of Charleston. That little
45:38
Speaker 13: line is going to move through. But we've got the
45:40
Speaker 13: we've got the sunshine that's trying to break out in
45:42
Speaker 13: southern Ohio and that's going to be what helps fuel
45:45
Speaker 13: the fire for the thunderstorms this afternoon.
45:47
Speaker 2: Quickly give us the basic timeline, and I do want
45:50
Speaker 2: to say keep listening throughout the day to all of
45:53
Speaker 2: our stations. Download the Metro News television app. You'll have
45:55
Speaker 2: information on there on social media as well, reputable social
45:59
Speaker 2: media that we're talking right here, you know. All right,
46:01
Speaker 2: So give us the timeline as it stands right now.
46:03
Speaker 2: It's subject to change.
46:04
Speaker 13: Right as of now, I'm gonna say that in the
46:07
Speaker 13: in the canalv Valley, we need to be watching it.
46:09
Speaker 13: At about two to three o'clock watch the storms that
46:12
Speaker 13: are moving in from the north, and by about four
46:14
Speaker 13: o'clock to six, between four and six, four five, six
46:17
Speaker 13: o'clock in the afternoon evening, that's when the storms are
46:19
Speaker 13: going to be at their strongest, at their peak across
46:21
Speaker 13: the Canal Valley.
46:22
Speaker 3: That is, as of now.
46:23
Speaker 13: If things do change, I mean, listen, I'm gonna be
46:25
Speaker 13: on here at the top of the hour. We're gonna
46:27
Speaker 13: talk a talk on talk line and be on with
46:29
Speaker 13: you today at midday you and Amanda will talk about
46:32
Speaker 13: the showers and storms are going to be possible across
46:34
Speaker 13: the area and the severe threats are going to be
46:36
Speaker 13: happening all across the region because at that point, as
46:39
Speaker 13: we get in the afternoon, things are going to start
46:40
Speaker 13: firing up, getting us a better idea of win over here.
46:44
Speaker 2: Quick text, some one said, how long would it take
46:45
Speaker 2: today for creeks to rise? Since they shot up pretty
46:47
Speaker 2: fast the other day? Thirty seven?
46:49
Speaker 3: It is going to be quick. It's not going to
46:51
Speaker 3: take a lot.
46:52
Speaker 13: Matter of fact, rain totals on average across the air
46:54
Speaker 13: are going to be over an inch, so listen. Yeah,
46:57
Speaker 13: it's one of those things. Once a first storm comes
46:59
Speaker 13: through the Greek didn't come up, the second storm of
47:01
Speaker 13: the creek's coming out.

Speaker 4: You may think speeding a little isn't really speeding, but
48:34
Speaker 4: even a few miles over the limit has consequences. First,
48:38
Speaker 4: there's the fine. Your first defense assst you one hundred
48:41
Speaker 4: dollars per score costs, and you'll pay a lot more
48:43
Speaker 4: if it's your second or third offense. Eventually you can

48:49

Speaker 2: John Lucas case. Attorneys for Alyssa Middleton have filed two
49:37
Speaker 2: motions in her case. Her trial is set to start
49:41
Speaker 2: August the seventeenth. Now her attorneys are asking for one
49:45
Speaker 2: a delay in the trial and they're asking for a
49:47
Speaker 2: change of venue and to steal and to seal the venue.
49:51
Speaker 2: If it is changed. Now, it goes before Judge Hardy,
49:54
Speaker 2: and as of now he hasn't ruled on it. A
49:57
Speaker 2: pre trial hearing is sent for the twenty eighth of
50:00
Speaker 2: this month. Liss of Middleton charged with voluntary manslaughter, aggravated
50:03
Speaker 2: vehicular homicide, and fleeing the scene of an accident causing death.
50:07
Speaker 2: All those are felonies. Of course, she and her partner
50:10
Speaker 2: that night were both fired from their jobs when Lance
50:12
Speaker 2: Wheeler took over the authority on July first. List of
50:15
Speaker 2: Middleton is out on board. Partner was not charged in
