- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean. Here it is.
- 0:13Friday. You clever soul, you've made it
- 0:16to the end of the week. Well done.
- 0:19It's the 28th of March and you have tapped on play to invite me
- 0:23into your day and being Friday. Yes, it's time to read some
- 0:28proverbs together. And the poll and the comments,
- 0:31well, you guys, we're not quite unanimous, but around, well, at
- 0:36least 90% of you have said read the Psalm, not the Psalms.
- 0:40Sean, move forward. Read the Proverbs twice, please.
- 0:44That is much easier. There were a handful of you that
- 0:47said no, no, no, once. Once is good.
- 0:49Thanks. And here, my heart, who wants to
- 0:52please everyone is very perplexed, but I'm going to read
- 0:56them twice. I'm sorry friends who just
- 0:58wanted it once, I'm going to read them twice because
- 1:00overwhelmingly most people are finding that a lot easier to
- 1:03digest. In fact, there's also been some
- 1:06comments saying instead of reading them 123-451-2345, why
- 1:11don't you read each one of them twice, Pause and read the next
- 1:15one. So why don't we try that today
- 1:17And you can leave your your thoughts below.
- 1:20I'll leave a little poll again and you can let me know your
- 1:22thoughts, your preferences, or you can shoot me an email, email
- 1:26address in the show notes. Or you can leave a comment on
- 1:29Spotify or whatever platform you're listening.
- 1:31Our friends, it is really wonderful that that you guys get
- 1:34in touch and you let me know what you're thinking because
- 1:36we're a community and we're doing this together and it just
- 1:39it fills my heart to know that we come together and we do this
- 1:43reading God's word. So thank you, thank you for your
- 1:45encouragement, thank you for your feedback.
- 1:47It is so good to be doing this. And you know, we are going to be
- 1:50reading Proverbs every Friday all this year and next year.
- 1:55So let's get it right. Let us do this in a way that is
- 1:57going to be most life giving, with God's wisdom ringing in our
- 2:01ears all through our day. And having said all that, let us
- 2:06get down to business and read together.
- 2:08Proverbs chapter 1113 to 18. A gossip goes around telling
- 2:25secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a
- 2:29confidence. A gossip goes around telling

- 3:31A gracious woman gains respect, but ruthless men gain only
- 3:36wealth. Your kindness will reward you,
- 3:43but your cruelty will destroy you.
- 3:49Your kindness will reward you, but your cruelty will destroy
- 3:54you. Evil people get rich for the
- 4:00moment, but the reward of the godly will last.
- 4:06Evil people get rich for the moment, but the reward of the
- 4:10godly will last. Oh Father, thank you for your
- 4:23truth. And in many of these proverbs,
- 4:26this theme rings out that chasing after finance, chasing
- 4:31after the quick gain doesn't win out in the end, but instead it's
- 4:38living in the fruits of your spirit, particularly living with
- 4:41kindness. That's where your priority lies
- 4:45and that's what you want for your people.
- 4:48And as there's a cheap satisfaction in that jibe, in
- 4:51that cruel word which can so easily just roll off the tongue,
- 4:56so that's not where your heart is, that it's in kindness, it's
- 5:02in graciousness, it's in wisdom. Lord, that is where you want us
- 5:08to be dwelling. So continue to shape us,
- 5:11continue to transform our hearts, and may your proverbs
- 5:17linger long within us. Thank you for giving us this
- 5:23truth. But most importantly, thank you
- 5:24for giving us Jesus, who is our truth.
- 5:28And we pray all of this through Him and his name.
- 5:31Amen.
