- 0:37Speaker 1: got pop culture news and your listener feedback. I am
- 0:42Speaker 1: Scott Bauters. And now, in brightest day, in blackest night,
- 0:49Speaker 1: no merger shall escape his sight. Let those who worship
- 0:53Speaker 1: Paramount's might beware his power. Trek cast light. It's Daniel Reyes.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Hey, that's awesome, man. That's really good. I like that.
- 1:03Speaker 1: What's up? Oh, snap. Oh, no.
- 1:06Speaker 2: We got the Yellow Lantern Corps, apparently.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Look at that. Oh, there he is. We'll get to that.
- 1:12Speaker 3: We'll get to that. We'll get to that.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Oh, from Sector 2814. So is that... Is Sector 2814...
- 1:21Speaker 1: like just earth or does it compass like the solar system?
- 1:24Speaker 3: Plus I'll know it's, it's the area that earth resides in. Yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 2: It's our zip code.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Gotcha. Gotcha. I mean, that's a lot of, that's a
- 1:36Speaker 1: lot of area to cover.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 2: You know, that's how we do it.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:40Speaker 2: One cop per precinct. That's, you know, yeah. It seems sufficient.
- 1:44Speaker 3: That's totally safe for them.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Well, then you have your independent contractors, right? True.
- 1:51Speaker 3: True.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Which, with that, if there's space cops, does that mean there's, like,
- 1:56Speaker 2: space speed traps somewhere?
- 1:57Speaker 4: Probably.
- 1:58Speaker 2: They're just pulling over?
- 2:00Speaker 3: Is there a space PBA where, like, a Green Lantern
- 2:03Speaker 3: is going to call your house every other month asking
- 2:05Speaker 3: for a donation?
- 2:06Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 2:08Speaker 2: For the Green Lantern's ball?
- 2:09Speaker 3: Yes. The Green Lantern's Benevolent Association.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 3: The GLBA.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:18Speaker 1: The GLBA.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Yeah. Hi, I'm Abin Sur. I'm calling on behalf of
- 2:24Speaker 3: the GLBA.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I already gave. Yeah, I gave at work.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Or the other community, Coffee with the Green Lantern.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Oh, and then you can get their bumper stickers.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Yeah, do you get the card or the bumper sticker?
- 2:40Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. No, you get the bumper stickers in case
- 2:41Speaker 1: the Green Lantern pulls you over. You can be like,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I support the cause there.
- 2:45Speaker 3: You know, I support you guys. I support you guys
- 2:48Speaker 3: every year.
- 2:48Speaker 1: How about a little courtesy?
- 2:50Speaker 2: My space tax dollars go to you.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Oh, boy.
- 2:57Speaker 3: This didn't go the way I thought it would.
- 2:59Speaker 1: No, not at all. Oh, goodness. Will?
- 3:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 1: How is everybody?
- 3:11Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's been crazy roller coaster for me.
- 3:18Speaker 3: My dad had a heart attack about two weeks ago.
- 3:21Speaker 3: He has been in the hospital. He required open heart surgery.
- 3:26Speaker 3: They got him open and there was a whole mess
- 3:31Speaker 3: of stuff in there that they weren't expecting. He had
- 3:35Speaker 3: major surgery and then after the surgery they couldn't close
- 3:39Speaker 3: him up because everything was too swollen. His chest was
- 3:44Speaker 3: open for like five days after the after the surgery, yeah,
- 3:49Speaker 3: it was crazy. I'm in the room, I'll call it visiting.
- 3:52Speaker 3: I mean, he was asleep, but I'm in the room
- 3:55Speaker 3: and you know, they, it's not open, like exposed to
- 3:58Speaker 3: the world. There's a barrier on there, but it's a,
- 4:01Speaker 3: you know, it's a latex barrier. It's like a balloon
- 4:04Speaker 3: stapled to his chest and I'm watching his heartbeat through
- 4:07Speaker 3: the balloon. It was just very eyeopening to see like
- 4:11Speaker 3: what goes into all of this stuff and the, the
- 4:13Speaker 3: amount of equipment that was keeping him alive. I'm like,
- 4:17Speaker 3: Jesus Christ. He looks like, uh, he looks like he's
- 4:20Speaker 3: been assimilated. There's just a wall of machinery behind him
- 4:23Speaker 3: and tubes and wires. And this one's detecting this and
- 4:26Speaker 3: this one's detected that. And it was, it was eyeopening
- 4:30Speaker 3: to see how much goes into, uh, keeping people alive.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 3: You know what it is.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Marvels of modern medicine.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Yes.
- 4:38Speaker 1: 30 years ago.
- 4:39Speaker 3: 30 years ago, you'd been dead.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:41Speaker 3: He'd have been dead. It would have been, you know, make,
- 4:43Speaker 3: you know, spend some time visiting with him. Cause it's, uh,
- 4:46Speaker 3: The end is near my God, you know, and now
- 4:50Speaker 3: it's like, all right, this machine's breathing form. This one's
- 4:53Speaker 3: pumping blood around for him. This one is, is doing
- 4:57Speaker 3: dialysis because your kidneys are in shock from all of this.
- 5:01Speaker 3: I mean, it was, it was amazing. Wow. Wow. To see.
- 5:05Speaker 3: So he's awake now. Okay. He's breathing on his own
- 5:10Speaker 3: a few hours a day. They have, that's the thing.
- 5:12Speaker 3: You know, if you don't breathe for yourself for a week,
- 5:15Speaker 3: They don't just, you know, oh, you're awake. Let's unplug
- 5:18Speaker 3: the breathing machine.
- 5:18Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 5:19Speaker 2: That doesn't come right back.
- 5:21Speaker 3: No, you have to practice at it. They call it exercising.
- 5:25Speaker 3: So he exercises a few hours a day.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Being able to breathe on your own, though, even for
- 5:30Speaker 1: a few hours a day is a big deal. That's big.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Yeah. Yes.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:34Speaker 3: So hopefully he can come off of that in the
- 5:37Speaker 3: next few days. That would be great because then they
- 5:39Speaker 3: can take the tube. the tube out and he can
- 5:43Speaker 3: actually talk to us. Cause that's the thing. He's awake
- 5:45Speaker 3: and aware right now, but he can't talk, which, which
- 5:48Speaker 3: I imagine is extremely frustrating.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Um, that his only communication is, um, all right, squeeze,
- 5:57Speaker 3: squeeze my hand once for yes. And two for no.
- 6:00Speaker 2: And yeah.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Do you want this? No. Okay. Do you want this? No.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Do you want this? No. All right. Well, I'm at ideas. So, yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Yeah. I, we, we had a family friend who had
- 6:13Speaker 2: a similar situation a few years back and we got
- 6:16Speaker 2: him a chart of like common things and he could
- 6:19Speaker 2: point like, I want to fan on, I want.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Which if you can, which if you can lift your
- 6:24Speaker 3: hands and do that is great, but he can't, he
- 6:27Speaker 3: can't even do that. He can't even do that yet
- 6:29Speaker 3: because he was lying still for, uh, for seven days.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I mean, I'm holding this hand and it's just, it's
- 6:36Speaker 3: swollen from just all the, all the fluid that, that
- 6:39Speaker 3: builds up. Yeah. So I'm so sorry. I think he'll
- 6:44Speaker 3: be able to talk before he'll be able to point,
- 6:46Speaker 3: which is right, which is fine. Yeah. But yeah, he's
- 6:50Speaker 3: doing a lot better. I'm glad he's doing a lot better. God.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Yeah. I wasn't sure if I was going to be
- 6:54Speaker 3: here this morning, but yeah, you know, I was with
- 6:57Speaker 3: the most of the day. I was with the most
- 7:00Speaker 3: of the day yesterday.
- 7:01Speaker 2: So yeah, I'm glad to hear he's, he's getting better.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Thank you. Thanks guys.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah. We've been, we've been thinking about it because we knew, um,
- 7:10Speaker 1: before the audience did, you know? So, and, uh, yeah,
- 7:14Speaker 1: that's a tough thing. That's a real tough thing. So everybody's, uh, uh,
- 7:18Speaker 1: praying for your dad and thinking about it.
- 7:20Speaker 3: And this is the age, this is the age where like,
- 7:22Speaker 3: you know, some of my friends have lost their parents,
- 7:26Speaker 3: not to, not to sickness, but to just old age.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Yeah. So I lost mine 15 years ago. He was,
- 7:33Speaker 1: he was 81.
- 7:33Speaker 3: So it's, but it's a, you know, it's an eyeopening experience. Like, Oh, okay,
- 7:40Speaker 3: this is, this is either happening now or it could
- 7:42Speaker 3: happen in the near future. And it's supposed to keep
- 7:46Speaker 3: happening to people my age. So, yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Once your, once your parents reach a certain age,
- 7:52Speaker 1: you start thinking about it a lot.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I remember when my dad approached me, when he got
- 7:58Speaker 1: to 80, I started thinking about it a lot. And then, Oh,
- 8:00Speaker 1: the days here. Yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 3: What was also interesting is I don't live in the
- 8:06Speaker 3: town that I grew up in. I live about, uh,
- 8:10Speaker 3: 20 miles away. My parents, my parents still live in
- 8:13Speaker 3: the town I grew up in. So the hospital he's
- 8:15Speaker 3: in is in the town I grew up in. So
- 8:18Speaker 3: I spent the last two weeks traveling back and forth
- 8:22Speaker 3: to the town I grew up in and, and spending
- 8:24Speaker 3: time in, uh, one of the two hospitals in that town,
- 8:28Speaker 3: which means I thought about it. I saw about a
- 8:30Speaker 3: thousand people in the last two weeks that I know
- 8:33Speaker 3: from either past jobs or growing up in the neighborhood
- 8:36Speaker 3: or school or, or right. And since I'm seeing them
- 8:41Speaker 3: at a hospital, they're all going through the same shit. Oh,
- 8:44Speaker 3: my dad has, you know, such, there was a, there
- 8:48Speaker 3: was a friend I used to work with and she's like, yeah,
- 8:51Speaker 3: he was supposed to have surgery on, uh, on Wednesday,
- 8:54Speaker 3: but it got bumped to Thursday. I'm like, yeah, well
- 8:57Speaker 3: that's cause my dad needed the surgery. We were able
- 9:01Speaker 3: to figure out that's exactly what it was. So his dad,
- 9:04Speaker 3: her dad got bumped by my dad, but you know,
- 9:06Speaker 3: it's just funny walking around. in the town and in
- 9:10Speaker 3: the hospital, it's like, Hey, I know that guy. I
- 9:12Speaker 3: know that guy. I know that guy. Yeah. Yeah. All right.
- 9:15Speaker 3: So Daniel, how's, uh, stuck in the air, stuck in
- 9:20Speaker 3: all the air out of the show.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Uh, we, we had a, um, kind of fun family
- 9:27Speaker 2: thing this week ends up. My uncle was in town
- 9:30Speaker 2: for a work conference. And, and so he had one
- 9:36Speaker 2: night that he could get away. And so on Friday night,
- 9:39Speaker 2: I went and I picked him up and I took
- 9:41Speaker 2: him to my sister's house and we had a family dinner.
- 9:44Speaker 2: And I haven't seen this uncle in like 10 years.
- 9:48Speaker 2: And this guy has had like the most Forrest Gump
- 9:51Speaker 2: life you've ever heard of. He in high school, he
- 9:55Speaker 2: was like a track athlete, like star. And then like
- 9:59Speaker 2: right out of high school, he went. to the Marines
- 10:01Speaker 2: and then from the Marines, he became a train conductor.
- 10:04Speaker 2: And then the last 20 years.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:07Speaker 2: And then the last year he's our last 20 years,
- 10:09Speaker 2: he's been a librarian, like went and got his master's
- 10:13Speaker 2: and all that. And so it's like the most different
- 10:15Speaker 2: careers possible.
- 10:17Speaker 3: And How many Dr. Peppers can he drink?
- 10:23Speaker 1: Did he beat the record of 19?
- 10:25Speaker 2: He didn't drink any with us, so I don't know.
- 10:28Speaker 2: I did get him a frozen lemonade, and he was
- 10:30Speaker 2: very excited about that.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Nice.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Yeah. But, yeah, he was telling us all sorts of
- 10:35Speaker 2: crazy family stories because he has also gotten into genealogy,
- 10:39Speaker 2: and so he looked up our family like six generations.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Nice.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Yeah, so it was pretty cool. It was pretty interesting, though.
- 10:45Speaker 2: It's my mom's youngest brother.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:51Speaker 2: What about you, Scott? Anything this week?
- 10:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Let's see. Yesterday, we went to a haunted house. It's
- 11:00Speaker 1: not just a haunted house. It's about an hour away.
- 11:03Speaker 1: They've got this whole, it must be like a farm
- 11:06Speaker 1: or something. I've never seen it during the day, but
- 11:08Speaker 1: you go in, you go through security, and you pay
- 11:11Speaker 1: like 50 bucks a ticket, and there's many different haunted houses.
- 11:15Speaker 1: uh barns and and buildings and stuff and they got
- 11:18Speaker 1: creepy people uh walking around and like there was this
- 11:22Speaker 1: one like she looks like a little girl but she's
- 11:24Speaker 1: probably like 50 she's walking around with the white dress
- 11:26Speaker 1: and the white makeup and the white hair and just
- 11:28Speaker 1: yeah you know just walking up to you and the
- 11:31Speaker 1: only time i got jump scared it wasn't in any
- 11:33Speaker 1: of the houses it wasn't in any of the you
- 11:35Speaker 1: know the not the chainsaw guy or anything like that
- 11:38Speaker 1: is right the corn dogs i Yeah, the price of
- 11:41Speaker 1: corn dogs. Don't get me started on the price of
- 11:42Speaker 1: corn dogs. I was just talking to a friend and
- 11:46Speaker 1: I had some other friends behind me. My wife's behind
- 11:48Speaker 1: me and my other friend goes, look behind you. And
- 11:50Speaker 1: I look behind me and there's that girl standing right
- 11:52Speaker 1: in my face. And I'm like, ah! This little tiny
- 11:56Speaker 1: four foot nine girl just scared the crap out of me. Yesterday,
- 11:59Speaker 1: the weather has been unseasonably nice the last couple days.
- 12:04Speaker 1: It was 80 degrees yesterday. I had had plans to
- 12:08Speaker 1: You know, I was going to take a buddy out
- 12:10Speaker 1: for a birthday lunch, and I was going to do
- 12:12Speaker 1: this and that. And then I'm like, there's not going
- 12:15Speaker 1: to be many more 80-degree sunny days in October. Des
- 12:19Speaker 1: and I are going for a motorcycle ride. Nice.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Nice.
- 12:22Speaker 1: So we did that.
- 12:23Speaker 3: So you ride on the back?
- 12:25Speaker 1: Does she? No, you.
- 12:27Speaker 3: You.
- 12:27Speaker 1: No.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Do you ever let her drive?
- 12:29Speaker 1: No.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Why not?
- 12:30Speaker 1: She has no interest in driving.
- 12:32Speaker 3: So you're sexist.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Very much so.
- 12:35Speaker 6: Yep.
- 12:35Speaker 3: All right.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yeah. Do you wear a helmet?
- 12:39Speaker 1: We both do.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Okay.
- 12:40Speaker 1: All right.
- 12:41Speaker 2: All right.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Good.
- 12:42Speaker 1: And Michigan is not a helmet law state.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Yeah, neither is Idaho. It isn't.
- 12:45Speaker 1: It isn't.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Wow.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Yeah. And that's fairly recent with the last 10, 15 years.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Wow. But I've got too many friends and family in
- 12:53Speaker 1: the medical industry, too many nurses in my family. And plus,
- 12:57Speaker 1: it's hard for me to tell my kids, especially younger,
- 13:00Speaker 1: you know, make sure you wear your bicycle helmet if
- 13:02Speaker 1: dad's not going to wear his. Yeah. Right. Right.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Okay.
- 13:05Speaker 1: So yeah, good times.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Cool.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Cool.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Well, should we get to the news? Because there's a lot.
- 13:12Speaker 3: No, there's no news this week. No news.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Okay, yeah.
- 13:14Speaker 3: I don't think there's any news. No, no. Okay, fine.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Star Trek News.
- 13:19Speaker 2: All right, so our first news story comes to us
- 13:21Speaker 2: from Screen Rant. And I don't know if you knew this,
- 13:25Speaker 2: but there was the New York City Comic Con was going.
- 13:31Speaker 2: And Star Trek had a panel. And so we learned
- 13:33Speaker 2: a little bit more about Starfleet Academy. season two. We
- 13:37Speaker 2: were all excited about that. So yeah. Yeah. So season
- 13:41Speaker 2: two is around the corner. We got a, a premier
- 13:43Speaker 2: date of sorts. It will be returning March, 2027. And, uh,
- 13:49Speaker 2: we got some preview pictures of the new season. Looks
- 13:53Speaker 2: like the kids are wrapped in tinfoil and out on
- 13:56Speaker 2: a field trip of a sort. Um, so we got
- 13:59Speaker 2: those photos. Uh, we were also told that we will
- 14:02Speaker 2: have a couple of guest stars, um, Bill Nye, Nye,
- 14:07Speaker 2: I think.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Nye. Okay.
- 14:10Speaker 2: And Rosemary Dewitt will be on the show. Bill will
- 14:14Speaker 2: be playing Captain Nala's estranged father. And Rosemary Dewitt will
- 14:21Speaker 2: be playing, what's her name? Sala, the girlfriend, the Betazoid girlfriend.
- 14:30Speaker 2: That's going to be her mom.
- 14:31Speaker 3: So, yeah.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Okay.
- 14:33Speaker 3: So.
- 14:34Speaker 1: It looks like it's N-I-G-H-Y. It's N-I-G-H-Y.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Oh, I thought it was Bill Nye, the science guy.
- 14:42Speaker 3: It's that guy. Disregard. I don't know how to pronounce it.
- 14:48Speaker 2: It's that guy. There's another photo of him playing piano.
- 14:53Speaker 2: He's going to be a guest star too. What's really
- 14:57Speaker 2: funny is... Let me show you this other headline that
- 15:00Speaker 2: I saw from Collider. And It's the same news story,
- 15:03Speaker 2: so we don't need to cover it. But I just
- 15:05Speaker 2: thought the headline was hilarious. Star Trek's canceled masterpiece officially
- 15:09Speaker 2: returns for season two.
- 15:12Speaker 1: That's a hell of a headline. Yeah.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Masterpiece is doing a lot of work right there.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Lame duck Star Trek returns in March. That's right.
- 15:22Speaker 2: That's right.
- 15:23Speaker 3: So, yeah.
- 15:25Speaker 2: So that's going on at the Javits Center in New York.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Another thing that happened. This is coming to us. from trekmovie.com.
- 15:33Speaker 2: And if you've ever wanted your action figures to explain
- 15:37Speaker 2: Ferengi sex to your other action figures, you will soon
- 15:40Speaker 2: be able to do that with your own Gene Roddenberry
- 15:43Speaker 2: action figure.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Oh, boy.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:48Speaker 2: This is going to be coming out from the Nacelle
- 15:51Speaker 2: Toy Company. They're launching a Gene Roddenberry and Lucille Ball
- 15:57Speaker 2: action figure for the 60th anniversary of Gene comes to
- 16:02Speaker 2: you with an action typewriter, sir.
- 16:05Speaker 3: That's right.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And a little Enterprise model, which is kind of cool.
- 16:09Speaker 2: And multiple hands. And then Lucille Ball comes to us
- 16:12Speaker 2: with scripts. And it looks like some sort of receipt
- 16:15Speaker 2: or maybe a paycheck. I don't know what that thing
- 16:18Speaker 2: is supposed to be. But yeah. This will be part
- 16:21Speaker 2: of Wave 3.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Gabe says morning.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Hello, Gabe. Hey, Gabe. He's a good friend of mine. Yeah. Okay, cool.
- 16:31Speaker 3: We'll see if anybody gets the reference. You can't work
- 16:34Speaker 3: for me. You've got AIDS.
- 16:37Speaker 5: Anyone?
- 16:38Speaker 1: No.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Anyone? We've talked about it before. I'm sure we have.
- 16:43Speaker 3: SNL did a skit 30 years ago, and it was
- 16:47Speaker 3: a joke about something like this. Things that shouldn't be
- 16:50Speaker 3: action figures. And it was action figures from the movie Philadelphia.
- 16:55Speaker 3: But what makes it Trek related is they customized some
- 17:01Speaker 3: Star Trek action figures.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Oh, to make the Philadelphia ones?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:04Speaker 3: The characters that were in suits, it was like Data
- 17:09Speaker 3: from South America as Carlos from South America and Picard
- 17:13Speaker 3: as Dixon Hill. That was the line. One kid shooting
- 17:18Speaker 3: a missile. across the screen at the other side, you
- 17:20Speaker 3: can't work for me. You've got AIDS. But it reminds
- 17:24Speaker 3: me of this, you know, what, what scene are you
- 17:27Speaker 3: going to recreate when, when she gets a royalty check?
- 17:30Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:31Speaker 2: And then, and then our last news story comes to
- 17:33Speaker 2: us from Yahoo entertainment. And I know we've been talking
- 17:36Speaker 2: about this, the idea of, uh, Star Trek United, the, um,
- 17:42Speaker 2: the in theory show with Archer coming back, looks like
- 17:46Speaker 2: that might not be happening because, uh, Scott Bakula has
- 17:49Speaker 2: signed on to be the lead of a detective drama
- 17:53Speaker 2: for CBS. And the producer of this is, what was
- 17:58Speaker 2: his name? Michael Sussman, who was also supposed to be
- 18:02Speaker 2: working together with him on Star Trek United.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:06Speaker 2: So if they're busy doing a network show, it doesn't
- 18:10Speaker 2: look like United's going to be happening.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Can you scroll down so I can see his face,
- 18:15Speaker 3: his whole face again? Yeah.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:18Speaker 3: So we're going to get a GoFundMe together. We're going
- 18:19Speaker 3: to buy him a comb.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Either that or he's playing Albert Einstein in a biopic
- 18:27Speaker 3: coming up next year. And he's just trying to get in.
- 18:30Speaker 2: I mean, it looks like he just woke up and
- 18:31Speaker 2: threw on his suit.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Look, like my stylist always says, you're never too old
- 18:36Speaker 1: to go to sport clips. Yeah. So we'll give him
- 18:39Speaker 1: the MVP. He can get his hair washed. A little
- 18:42Speaker 1: back massage. Yeah, I'd go to sports clips.
- 18:45Speaker 3: What the hell is sports clips? What is that?
- 18:47Speaker 2: Oh, it's a chain of haircut places.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Okay, I haven't had a haircut since 1993.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Yeah, there's these places called Supercuts and Sports Clips.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Supercuts, I'm aware of.
- 19:01Speaker 1: It's Sports Clips and Supercuts, only it's got sports playing. Yeah,
- 19:05Speaker 1: and it's more expensive. Yeah, they offer the MVP, which
- 19:10Speaker 1: is they take you out back, they wash your hair,
- 19:12Speaker 1: they massage your scalp. Out back?
- 19:13Speaker 3: What are these, the hose? Yeah.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:16Speaker 2: There's like a back room, and it's all dark, and
- 19:20Speaker 2: you feel like you're doing something illegal.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
- 19:24Speaker 2: It's very odd.
- 19:25Speaker 3: I want to go even less now.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't want to be there.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:32Speaker 2: So, how do you guys feel about... Looks like we're
- 19:34Speaker 2: not getting Star Trek United.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Raise your hand if you thought that there was even
- 19:37Speaker 1: a remote possibility that it was going to happen.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't really think so either.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, these baiting... Oh, God. And then... you
- 19:46Speaker 1: see all these news things from collider and places like that.
- 19:49Speaker 1: It was like, Hmm. oh, Discovery Season 9 is coming,
- 19:54Speaker 1: or Lower Decks Season 6 is right around the corner
- 19:58Speaker 1: coming in November. And it's like, oh, you're talking about
- 20:00Speaker 1: a spec script for a comic book that never came out. Okay,
- 20:06Speaker 1: thanks for the heads up.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Well, speaking of that, are we doing news on the merger?
- 20:12Speaker 3: Is there another story? I don't want to jump on it.
- 20:13Speaker 2: No, there's nothing new.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Then I'll just say it now. We're going to see
- 20:19Speaker 3: more comic books. I guarantee it. Because now you have
- 20:24Speaker 3: Warner Brothers and Paramount under the same banner of Skydance.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Warner Brothers owns DC Comics. They don't own the rights
- 20:32Speaker 3: to make movies about DC characters. They own DC Comics.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Skydance has its own comic book company in-house in the
- 20:41Speaker 3: same way as when Disney acquired Marvel. Now, suddenly, all
- 20:48Speaker 3: the Disney properties have Marvel comic books. There's no licensing.
- 20:55Speaker 3: It's done in-house. They own it. Yes, they own it.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Right now, IDW has the contract for For Star Trek comics,
- 21:06Speaker 3: and I guarantee that it's not going to get renewed.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Right.
- 21:10Speaker 3: And they're going to do that in-house. And the good
- 21:13Speaker 3: news about that, I mean, I don't really read comics anymore,
- 21:16Speaker 3: but the good news about that is I'm sure the
- 21:19Speaker 3: process for getting some of these stories made is going
- 21:21Speaker 3: to be streamlined.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 21:23Speaker 3: And maybe we are going to get some cool stuff.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I was watching clips yesterday on YouTube for the Batman
- 21:31Speaker 2: and Ninja Turtles cartoon movie that came out a few
- 21:33Speaker 2: years ago. And then it occurred to me like now
- 21:35Speaker 2: with the merger, you could make a live action version
- 21:38Speaker 2: of this if you wanted to.
- 21:39Speaker 1: True.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I don't think that.
- 21:42Speaker 3: I don't know if I would want that.
- 21:44Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 21:44Speaker 2: But I'm just saying you could.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Another animated movie might be fun because that was a
- 21:48Speaker 1: cool kind of thing.
- 21:49Speaker 3: You know, something occurred to me. So a few years ago,
- 21:52Speaker 3: I was going through the notes on my phone.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:55Speaker 3: And I found something from like, I'd be like six
- 21:57Speaker 3: years ago. But we each pitched our own idea for
- 22:02Speaker 3: a Star Trek four movie. Okay. the J.J. Abrams version.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Right, right.
- 22:08Speaker 3: And I reread my pitch, and I thought to myself,
- 22:14Speaker 3: you know, this would never get made as a movie,
- 22:17Speaker 3: but they could totally do this as a comic book.
- 22:21Speaker 3: And now that DC is in-house, I'm wondering if they're
- 22:25Speaker 3: going to have outside submissions, if someone can submit. Oh, yeah, maybe.
- 22:29Speaker 3: And I thought, you know what? That whole.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Storyline is going nowhere. They're not, they're not making another movie. Um,
- 22:38Speaker 3: but the, the story that I wrote kind of ties
- 22:40Speaker 3: up all the loose ends and, and ties up that universe.
- 22:44Speaker 3: You know, maybe they would do it. Maybe they would
- 22:45Speaker 3: do a comic. Yeah.
- 22:47Speaker 1: So, so if, if I can read some of these, um, for.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Those listening, I, so this is the.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Combine Warner brothers, paramount company will be called skydance. Uh,
- 22:57Speaker 1: the TV assets are things like, uh, TNT, CBS, CNN, MTV, uh, the, TCM,
- 23:04Speaker 1: is that Turner Classic Movies?
- 23:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Showtime, Adult Swim, DC Studios, Paramount +, Nickelodeon, HBO, Comedy Central,
- 23:11Speaker 1: and Cartoon Network. And some of the film rates are
- 23:14Speaker 1: Star Trek, Gremlins, Beetlejuice, DC Comics, Tom and Jerry, Harry Potter,
- 23:17Speaker 1: Citizen Kane, Transformers, Quiet Place, Looney Tunes, The Conjuring, Mortal Kombat,
- 23:21Speaker 1: Game of Thrones, Dora the Explorer, Mission Impossible, The Lord
- 23:24Speaker 1: of the Rings, SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar, Last Airbender, Teenage Mutant
- 23:27Speaker 1: Ninja Turtles, Dune 3 distribution rights, Minecraft distribution rights, and
- 23:33Speaker 1: MonsterVerse distribution rights. That's a lot.
- 23:37Speaker 2: I cannot wait for a Mortal Kombat game with Paw
- 23:41Speaker 2: Patrol stages.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Crossover potential.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Yeah. Gremlins.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Which they're coming out with a new movie!
- 23:49Speaker 2: Dude, you could literally have Bill Shatner yelling, there's a
- 23:52Speaker 2: gremlin on the wing of the Enterprise now.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Yeah. There was a teaser poster for Gremlins 3 that's
- 23:58Speaker 1: coming out not next year.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a little video. Guys, Tribbles versus Gremlins.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Oh, my.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Oh, yes.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Who could reproduce faster?
- 24:10Speaker 2: That would be a fun comic book, Tribbles versus Gremlins.
- 24:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:14Speaker 1: You give the Tribbles a silo of grain. You give
- 24:17Speaker 1: the Gremlins a swimming pool.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 5: You know.
- 24:20Speaker 2: You could have Tom and Jerry and the cat doctor
- 24:22Speaker 2: from Lower Deck.
- 24:23Speaker 1: There you go. Throw in a little Dora the Explorer.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Sure, why not? There's a lot of different combinations you
- 24:32Speaker 2: can do and I'm sure they'll do it and they'll
- 24:34Speaker 2: make their money back because they need to because this
- 24:37Speaker 2: company is billions of dollars in debt.
- 24:41Speaker 1: They're going to start putting out some movies.
- 24:44Speaker 3: With the cage.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Dan, did you see the Ghostbuster commercial?
- 24:48Speaker 3: Is he talking about the The Rivian car? That one.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:55Speaker 2: I don't know what he's referring to, but I did
- 24:56Speaker 2: see that Rivian car. That looks pretty fun.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:00Speaker 2: I thought that was AI at first.
- 25:02Speaker 1: No, Bill Murray was on it, too.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Yeah, but that doesn't mean anything anymore. I watched this
- 25:06Speaker 3: clip last night, and it was Al Bundy sitting on
- 25:12Speaker 3: his couch, and there's a knock at the door, and
- 25:15Speaker 3: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Sylvester Stallone were at
- 25:21Speaker 3: the door to take Kelly on a date. And they
- 25:25Speaker 3: looked like they walked out of 1985. Oh, wow. And
- 25:29Speaker 3: it looked absolutely perfect.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:32Speaker 3: And it sounded absolutely perfect. Yeah. It's scary.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Yeah. I've been watching some Star Wars fan-created AI stuff
- 25:41Speaker 1: that's really compelling. Like Luke talking to Force Ghost Anakin.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Like a difficult conversation between the two of them of
- 25:49Speaker 1: how Padme died. Yeah. And I'm like, man, I would
- 25:53Speaker 1: love to insert this somewhere. Yeah. You know? I mean,
- 25:57Speaker 1: it's not perfect, but it's 98%. Yeah. You know, as
- 26:01Speaker 1: far as they got to get the dialogue a little
- 26:03Speaker 1: bit more polished. Of course, then again, maybe that's part
- 26:05Speaker 1: of recreating Lucas stuff, but.
- 26:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Well, of course, it gets everywhere.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Okay.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Well, yeah, that's all the news stories. I guess we
- 26:19Speaker 2: should get to the main topic.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I've got– can I do my– Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Go for it.
- 26:23Speaker 1: I've got a couple things. So, first of all, I
- 26:25Speaker 1: wanted to talk about the Grand Rapids Comic Con that's coming.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Save the date, November 13th, 14th, and 15th. This is
- 26:34Speaker 1: going to be at the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I've gone there covering the con for TrekCast for the
- 26:40Speaker 1: last few years. It's always great. I mean, it's got
- 26:46Speaker 1: just about everything that a larger Comic-Con would have. These
- 26:50Speaker 1: people also put on the Kalamazoo Comic-Con, kind of a
- 26:52Speaker 1: smaller satellite Comic-Con in Kalamazoo. But the DeVos place is huge.
- 26:57Speaker 1: They've got a ton of hotels around. There's something for everybody.
- 27:01Speaker 1: If you've ever been to a Comic-Con, you know that
- 27:03Speaker 1: there's a little bit of every genre there. They've got
- 27:07Speaker 1: a lot of celebrity guests. They've got the Harp Twins
- 27:11Speaker 1: and the Wolfgang Twins. They come up and do this
- 27:15Speaker 1: really cool musical presentation. It's all free once you get in.
- 27:21Speaker 1: They've got every kind of type of celebrity from comic
- 27:27Speaker 1: book artists. Daniel Jake the Snake from the famous wrestler.
- 27:35Speaker 1: At least that's what I've been told.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Yes, he was a wrestler.
- 27:39Speaker 1: They've got panels of all kinds. These celebrity guests do
- 27:45Speaker 1: panels and talk about your favorite TV show or movie.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I'm going to be involved in the Starfleet International panel.
- 27:54Speaker 1: So I'm going to be going there and talking a
- 27:56Speaker 1: little bit about TrekCast and representing that. Nice. Yeah, make
- 28:01Speaker 1: sure you get your tickets. Grand Rapids Comic Con at
- 28:04Speaker 1: the DeVos Place. And that's going to be November 13th, 14th,
- 28:10Speaker 1: and 15th. The address is 303 Monroe Avenue, Northwest and
- 28:13Speaker 1: Grand Ranch. So it's a great time. Check it out.
- 28:15Speaker 1: And if you're going to be there, send me a
- 28:18Speaker 1: message through Facebook and we will do a meetup.
- 28:22Speaker 4: Nice.
- 28:23Speaker 3: You know, they call them Comic-Cons, but they're really not.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:26Speaker 3: You know, there's so much other stuff there.
- 28:30Speaker 1: It's Pop Culture Con.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Yeah, but these things grew out of Comic Cons. So
- 28:35Speaker 3: to change the name now, it's too late. This isn't
- 28:40Speaker 3: a phone.
- 28:41Speaker 2: This is a phone.
- 28:42Speaker 1: We just call it a phone.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Yes, this is something completely different, but it grew out
- 28:47Speaker 3: of a telephone, so that's what it's called now. Right.
- 28:51Speaker 1: And it's wide-reaching. Like I said, there's something there for everybody.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I've got some friends that are coming. They're not into
- 28:57Speaker 1: superhero stuff. They're not into sci-fi stuff. but they are
- 29:00Speaker 1: into like anime, you know, and there's a ton of
- 29:03Speaker 1: that there or like old school video games. There's Ghostbusters,
- 29:07Speaker 1: the 501st, uh, the, the Stormtrooper, the Star Wars, uh,
- 29:11Speaker 1: fan club, uh, Starfleet International.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Um, they got every, every flavor of nerd. Yes.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Every flavor of nerd. Um, everybody's welcome. It's all, you know,
- 29:22Speaker 1: it's very, it's a very inclusive place. Um, everybody's kind, everybody,
- 29:27Speaker 1: you know, super respectful, uh, I've I've I've made connections there.
- 29:33Speaker 1: You know, that's how I met Katie Nicolau, the meteorologist
- 29:36Speaker 1: from Lansing. She'll probably do some of the. some of
- 29:40Speaker 1: the panels. But yeah, it's it's just a great place.
- 29:44Speaker 1: It's so go check it out. I also have a
- 29:48Speaker 1: couple of Star Trek celebrity death news. Oh, okay, yeah.
- 29:54Speaker 3: That's always fun.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Give us some of that. Yeah, this actually happened a
- 29:58Speaker 1: while ago. James Sloan, he died in July 22nd. He
- 30:04Speaker 1: played the Romulan admiral, or the defector. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:10Speaker 3: He was also Dr. Maura Pohl.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Who worked with Odo on Deep Space Nine. And he
- 30:20Speaker 1: played Jatrell on Voyager. He was the one that came
- 30:27Speaker 1: up with that cascade that destroyed all of Neelix's people. Oh, yeah.
- 30:33Speaker 1: So he passed away in July. And then also Garrett Graham.
- 30:40Speaker 1: So Garrett Graham played... He was Tosk. In the season
- 30:46Speaker 1: one episode of Deep Space Nine. But you probably more
- 30:49Speaker 1: recognize him as Q from the Star Trek Voyager episode.
- 30:56Speaker 1: I believe it was Q.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Death Wish.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Death Wish. That's it. That's it.
- 31:00Speaker 3: That's it.
- 31:02Speaker 1: So he passed away last month.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 31:05Speaker 1: A couple of memorable side characters.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I loved him as Quinn in Death Wish.
- 31:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Really cool.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Really cool character. And one of only a handful of
- 31:18Speaker 1: Qs that we've seen other than Q. We saw Q's
- 31:21Speaker 1: girlfriend or wife. We saw the Q from the one
- 31:25Speaker 1: where he got his powers stripped away that gave his
- 31:27Speaker 1: powers back. So we haven't seen a.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Lot of him. I think that was Corbin Bernson, wasn't it?
- 31:33Speaker 1: Was it?
- 31:33Speaker 2: I think it was.
- 31:35Speaker 3: I think you're right.
- 31:36Speaker 1: I think you're right. Yeah. Yeah, he was the one
- 31:39Speaker 1: that showed up in the show of craft. All right,
- 31:41Speaker 1: you got your powers back.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Yeah, wearing his unitard.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Star Trek loves its unitards.
- 31:47Speaker 2: They really do.
- 31:48Speaker 1: They really do.
- 31:50Speaker 3: They did. We don't see them too often anymore. But
- 31:53Speaker 3: there was a period of time where it was like, oh,
- 31:55Speaker 3: everybody's going to wear these in the future. So just
- 31:57Speaker 3: get with the program. Just start buying them now.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Yeah. Who did the costume? Was it Michael West? No,
- 32:02Speaker 1: he did the makeup. Who did the costume in like
- 32:05Speaker 1: the 90s? Can we get some more spandex over here?
- 32:08Speaker 2: It's just like a baby onesie, and they're like, oh, yeah.
- 32:11Speaker 2: We'll just keep wearing these.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Can you make those but really big?
- 32:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:15Speaker 3: But not too big.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Colors?
- 32:17Speaker 1: Do you have gray and muted purple?
- 32:20Speaker 3: Perfect.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Exactly. Oh, God. All right. Well, what are we doing here?
- 32:27Speaker 2: All right. Let's get to our main topic. We're going
- 32:29Speaker 2: to be talking lanterns. So here we go.
- 32:32Speaker 5: Fun will now commence.
- 32:36Speaker 1: All right.
- 32:37Speaker 2: So it just finished last week. Lanterns season one, maybe
- 32:42Speaker 2: the only season we don't really know. Season two hasn't
- 32:45Speaker 2: been announced yet. So currently on Rotten Tomatoes. Let's see.
- 32:49Speaker 2: What is the score? We have got a 91 percent
- 32:54Speaker 2: with critics and a 69 percent with audiences. So a
- 32:58Speaker 2: little bit of a divide, but not horrible.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:01Speaker 3: How did that track over the season? Because more than
- 33:04Speaker 3: a few people were really excited about this show, but
- 33:07Speaker 3: not so much with the final episode.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Yeah, from what I saw, let me see if I
- 33:13Speaker 2: can find the lanterns, that chart thing that we found before.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I do know the first four episodes, from what I remember,
- 33:22Speaker 2: people loved. And then it kind of fell off a
- 33:25Speaker 2: cliff there.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Um, okay. Well, there was some slow flashback episodes where,
- 33:29Speaker 1: you know, and I, I, I get it. I understand
- 33:32Speaker 1: why the critics are so high in the audience is like, eh,
- 33:34Speaker 1: because as audience members, people like me, like the layman,
- 33:38Speaker 1: we're just, I'm just like, you know, a dog chasing
- 33:42Speaker 1: a car. You know, I, I don't, I don't know
- 33:45Speaker 1: what I'm doing. I don't know what I'm looking at.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I just want to be entertained for, you know, critics like,
- 33:49Speaker 1: you know, people who have a brain like Daniel, you know,
- 33:52Speaker 1: he's looking for the deeper meaning of everything and often
- 33:55Speaker 1: finds it. I, I don't have that.
- 33:58Speaker 2: You forget Daniel also likes Paddington.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Okay, well.
- 34:01Speaker 2: He's got some deep brains. And professional wrestling. And professional wrestling, yeah.
- 34:06Speaker 2: So yeah, you're overselling it.
- 34:08Speaker 3: So basically, shut up, Scott.
- 34:11Speaker 1: All right, so what do we got here for the season? Yeah,
- 34:19Speaker 1: episode three, that was the flashback.
- 34:22Speaker 6: One, right?
- 34:22Speaker 2: That was the flashback episode, yeah. Where we learned about
- 34:25Speaker 2: his life. Yeah, so the lowest scoring ones are the
- 34:29Speaker 2: flashback episode and the season finale.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Yeah, so the finale was, you know, except for the
- 34:34Speaker 3: flashback episode, was the lowest rated episode.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:38Speaker 3: And I see it. I do, too.
- 34:40Speaker 2: I kept waiting for stuff to happen in the finale.
- 34:42Speaker 3: I was waiting for stuff to happen, and I was
- 34:46Speaker 3: waiting for stuff to unhappen. Yeah. And it didn't. Yeah.
- 34:51Speaker 3: It's kind of like, well, what the hell, man?
- 34:52Speaker 1: From a storyline point of view, it was fantastic. Fantastic.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:56Speaker 1: But everybody, you know, I'll, I'll say the quiet part.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Everybody wanted to see some ring shit.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 35:04Speaker 2: I mean, I, I get what, okay. So spoilers guys,
- 35:06Speaker 2: we're just going to rip it.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Um, I get what they were going for with the
- 35:11Speaker 2: season finale in that John Stewart was no longer beholden
- 35:15Speaker 2: to his programming. So Noah would no longer be beholden
- 35:18Speaker 2: to his programming. And that's why they all kind of
- 35:22Speaker 2: did their own thing and, and kind of went their
- 35:24Speaker 2: own ways. Um, so I get that. I get the
- 35:27Speaker 2: parallel of how you want to do that, but it's.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Just, we needed a fight, man. We, you know, well,
- 35:35Speaker 3: here's the thing with that. Um, I'm fairly certain that
- 35:38Speaker 3: this was a low budget show. Oh yeah.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:42Speaker 3: And ring shit costs money. Yeah. Um, after the first episode,
- 35:49Speaker 3: I commented on how much I like flying effects. When
- 35:53Speaker 3: Hal Jordan takes off at the taco place, stand. I
- 35:57Speaker 3: think I described it as him just falling up in
- 36:01Speaker 3: a straight diagonal line and it just looks so cool
- 36:04Speaker 3: and natural to me. Every other flying scene after that
- 36:08Speaker 3: looked awful.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Absolutely awful.
- 36:10Speaker 3: When Hal wants to survey the town and he just
- 36:13Speaker 3: flies straight up in the air and looks around and
- 36:16Speaker 3: then falls. I mean, he was 100% absolutely on a
- 36:20Speaker 3: wire and it looked so unnatural. It looked so awkward.
- 36:24Speaker 3: The very final scene where, uh, well, I'm sorry. When, uh,
- 36:29Speaker 3: when guy lands in front of the jail.
- 36:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Awful. Yeah.
- 36:36Speaker 3: He was, he was on a, he wasn't even on
- 36:38Speaker 3: a wire. It's like, it's like they had a crane
- 36:41Speaker 3: and just lowered him down. Just lowered him down. No,
- 36:44Speaker 3: we don't have a harness. Just hold on to, just
- 36:47Speaker 3: hold on to this rope. We're only going to shoot
- 36:49Speaker 3: you from the waist down. So it doesn't matter. Just
- 36:50Speaker 3: hold on to this rope. Oh, he's spinning. Hold on.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Do it again.
- 36:54Speaker 3: That looked awful. The final one where John charges the
- 37:00Speaker 3: ring and then just starts levitating and kind of falls
- 37:06Speaker 3: forward slightly before taking off. It looked awful. It looked
- 37:10Speaker 3: absolutely awful. So that says to me that they were
- 37:13Speaker 3: working on a budget and that's why there's not a
- 37:17Speaker 3: lot of ring stuff.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Yeah, Chesbis says about $ 18 million an episode.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Which I don't think is a lot.
- 37:23Speaker 1: It's not a lot.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Not for the CGI you need. For an episode of TV, yeah,
- 37:29Speaker 2: that's a lot.
- 37:30Speaker 3: And they even made a meta joke about it. When
- 37:35Speaker 3: we're in 2026 and Hal and John meet at the
- 37:39Speaker 3: diner and Hal says, did you see the gym teacher
- 37:41Speaker 3: on TV? Talking about Guy Gardner. And he says something
- 37:46Speaker 3: to the effect of somebody should tell him his contracts
- 37:50Speaker 3: don't have to be so green.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:53Speaker 3: And the meta joke, the meta joke is TV budget,
- 37:58Speaker 3: motion picture budget. Right. Yep. Yep.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:02Speaker 3: You know, Hal's making bottle openers and Guy is making big,
- 38:06Speaker 3: giant middle fingers that are tossing tanks across the battlefield.
- 38:10Speaker 1: And unfortunately, that's what we wanted to see because the biggest,
- 38:13Speaker 1: coolest thing. And you will see it.
- 38:15Speaker 3: You will see it. Yeah. You'll see it six months
- 38:17Speaker 3: from now.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Yep.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Man of Tomorrow comes.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Out, and there's supposedly two Green Lanterns in that movie. Yeah.
- 38:26Speaker 1: And the coolest, biggest construct that we saw was something
- 38:29Speaker 1: that helped them dig.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Yeah. Yay.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Quiet Guy says, Forever Lantern fan. Liked the show, but
- 38:38Speaker 2: the ending had me scratching my head. Starting with the
- 38:40Speaker 2: Manhunter in Rushville and ending the show with the Manhunter
- 38:44Speaker 2: in Rushville. So what was the point? Uh, the, the
- 38:48Speaker 2: point was that they, they changed their programming or broke
- 38:51Speaker 2: for free from their programming, both John Stewart and the Manhunter.
- 38:55Speaker 2: That's what you're supposed to get away with.
- 38:57Speaker 3: And there isn't a Manhunter in Rushville cause he's going
- 38:59Speaker 3: to college.
- 38:59Speaker 2: That's right. Him and Gorilla Guard going to evil villain college.
- 39:05Speaker 3: Yep. Yeah. He's going to be a Husker baby.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Yeah. So, so they did make a difference in the end, right?
- 39:14Speaker 3: I guess. I guess.
- 39:15Speaker 1: It wasn't like, uh, It wasn't like that Big Bang
- 39:18Speaker 1: Theory episode where they point out the fact that Indiana
- 39:20Speaker 1: Jones played no part in the end of the first movie. Like,
- 39:25Speaker 1: if he hadn't been around, then the Nazis still would
- 39:27Speaker 1: have found the Ark, opened it up, and everybody would
- 39:29Speaker 1: have died. That's right. That's it.
- 39:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Thanks for nothing.
- 39:34Speaker 2: Because, honestly, man, Zoe, the original Manhunter, she didn't seem
- 39:39Speaker 2: like an awful person to me. Like, she helped the town.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Yeah. She got John Laid.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Yeah. She killed Abin Sor.
- 39:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:47Speaker 2: That's true.
- 39:47Speaker 3: Yeah. There's that.
- 39:49Speaker 2: That's true. Fair point.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Is that comic-related?
- 39:53Speaker 2: No, they made that up for the show. All that's
- 39:56Speaker 2: comic-related is Avansoar needs to die. Yeah. A-Wolf, am I
- 40:01Speaker 2: late to the lantern?
- 40:02Speaker 3: Yeah, kind of.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Yeah, we're doing lanterns this week. Yeah.
- 40:07Speaker 2: And Chazbiz, maybe he likes show tunes.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Who, Avansoar?
- 40:10Speaker 2: We never know.
- 40:15Speaker 3: I know we've asked this question before.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:18Speaker 3: I'm going to ask it again. Even though we literally
- 40:20Speaker 3: watched them dig up his body, you still think Hal's dead?
- 40:25Speaker 2: Well, they gave themselves an out, right? Because Sinestro said,
- 40:28Speaker 2: I can bring you back to life.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:30Speaker 2: For real. So I think Hal is dead, but.
- 40:32Speaker 3: So what do you think that entails? What he's saying there?
- 40:36Speaker 3: Because I have some theories. I have some ideas, but
- 40:38Speaker 3: I want to hear what you guys think.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I thought they were going to do it as he was...
- 40:42Speaker 1: The one that had a hole in his head was a...
- 40:45Speaker 1: What do they call him? Replicant or.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Sentry or whatever.
- 40:50Speaker 2: I could see that. I could see them introducing the
- 40:52Speaker 2: Black Lanterns.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Yeah, because the Black Lanterns bring people.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Gave Black Rings.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 41:00Speaker 2: That could have been a tease for that. You know,
- 41:04Speaker 2: it's Green Lantern, man. They can make up all sorts
- 41:06Speaker 2: of funky bullshit and just say, oh, we went to
- 41:09Speaker 2: this planet and got this device. And with the power
- 41:12Speaker 2: of the Green Ring and that device, it'll bring you back.
- 41:16Speaker 1: I don't know. I'll be the first to admit, I'm
- 41:18Speaker 1: a comic book poser. I haven't read physical comic books
- 41:22Speaker 1: to get any information. Everything I get is from Wikipedia,
- 41:26Speaker 1: watching the movies, watching the shows.
- 41:28Speaker 3: So I read comic books, but I read comic books
- 41:31Speaker 3: 25 years ago.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Right.
- 41:33Speaker 3: Anything newer than that, I know from Wikipedia or TV
- 41:37Speaker 3: shows or podcasts or whatever. I haven't physically read a
- 41:41Speaker 3: comic in a long time. But I notice what a
- 41:44Speaker 3: lot of... what a lot of modern comic book movies
- 41:48Speaker 3: will do is they won't tell the exact story from
- 41:52Speaker 3: the comic, but they'll take this piece from this era
- 41:58Speaker 3: and this piece from this era and this piece from
- 42:00Speaker 3: this era and kind of weave them together to, to,
- 42:04Speaker 3: to make a story. You know, there was, there was
- 42:07Speaker 3: an infinite, there were infinity stones in Marvel comics. There
- 42:11Speaker 3: was an infinity gauntlet in Marvel comics. It didn't happen.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Like that.
- 42:16Speaker 3: Right. Like the way it happened in the movies. But
- 42:18Speaker 3: they took these nuggets and they weaved them together. There
- 42:24Speaker 3: was a story in the late 90s. So after Hal
- 42:29Speaker 3: Jordan had gone crazy, become Parallax, killed all the Guardians
- 42:33Speaker 3: except one. One Guardian escaped to Earth with one ring
- 42:37Speaker 3: and one lantern and gave it to Kyle Rayner. And
- 42:41Speaker 3: he was the last Green Lantern. for a few years,
- 42:45Speaker 3: it was only one green lantern in the DCU and
- 42:48Speaker 3: it was this guy. And there was a storyline where
- 42:51Speaker 3: he got thrown back in time and he was in
- 42:54Speaker 3: like the 1980s and he met Hal Jordan of the
- 42:58Speaker 3: 1980s and they had some team ups in the 1980s.
- 43:02Speaker 3: And then when he got sent home, uh, 1980s, Hal
- 43:06Speaker 3: came with him accidentally. And then you had, uh, like
- 43:11Speaker 3: six months of issues where Hal from the 1980s was
- 43:14Speaker 3: in current day, interacting with the rest of the DC universe.
- 43:19Speaker 3: And they all are treating him strangely because, Hey, you're
- 43:23Speaker 3: the guy who killed everyone last year, but no, I'm
- 43:27Speaker 3: not that guy.
- 43:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:27Speaker 3: But you're going to be that guy. And they ended
- 43:30Speaker 3: up sending him back to his own. Well, he entered
- 43:33Speaker 3: parallax at that point. So parallax is interacting with his,
- 43:36Speaker 3: his former self. And that, that Hal is, Goes back
- 43:41Speaker 3: to his own time, but before he does, he gives
- 43:43Speaker 3: a ring to Kyle because the rings from his era
- 43:47Speaker 3: had the ability to replicate themselves. Gave it to him
- 43:50Speaker 3: and said, you know, it's your job to use this
- 43:53Speaker 3: to rebuild the Lantern Corps. So my thought is they
- 44:00Speaker 3: may be weaving some of these threads together. if Sinestro
- 44:06Speaker 3: is saying, I can bring you back from the dead,
- 44:09Speaker 3: he wasn't speaking to Hal Jordan. He was speaking to
- 44:12Speaker 3: 10 years ago, Hal Jordan. I can bring you back
- 44:18Speaker 3: from the dead. Not that guy in the ground. He's gone.
- 44:21Speaker 3: But I can bring you an earlier version of Hal,
- 44:25Speaker 3: the good version of Hal. Okay, I can bring you
- 44:30Speaker 3: back from the dead. Now, my other thought with that is,
- 44:33Speaker 3: The whole thing about as soon as you charge that ring,
- 44:36Speaker 3: the hologram is going to disappear. Yeah, that's fine. There's
- 44:39Speaker 3: like 12 nerd alerts in here. Warning!
- 44:42Speaker 1: Warning!
- 44:43Speaker 2: Nerd alert!
- 44:44Speaker 5: Nerd alert!
- 44:46Speaker 3: Oh yeah, for sure. Let me finish this thought.
- 44:49Speaker 2: Okay, go for it.
- 44:50Speaker 3: So the whole thing about the ring is dying, but
- 44:54Speaker 3: as soon as you charge the ring, the hologram is
- 44:56Speaker 3: going to be erased and disappear. I never understood why
- 45:00Speaker 3: that made any sense. That hologram has been in the
- 45:03Speaker 3: ring for 10 years at that point, Hal has recharged
- 45:06Speaker 3: that ring a thousand times.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Right.
- 45:09Speaker 3: Why is it suddenly that it's going to disappear? Okay.
- 45:14Speaker 3: So my thought is that ring was not charged on
- 45:19Speaker 3: a green lantern battery. It was charged on a hybrid
- 45:23Speaker 3: green lantern, yellow lantern battery. So maybe that hologram is
- 45:28Speaker 3: not erased. It's in the battery. now. And if it's
- 45:31Speaker 3: in the battery and it's interacting with yellow energy, maybe
- 45:35Speaker 3: that's how we get Parallax. Parallax is an evil version
- 45:38Speaker 3: of 1980s Hal or 1990s Hal or whatever it was.
- 45:43Speaker 3: And then when that storyline concludes, they can use that
- 45:47Speaker 3: to bring 1990s Hal back to life. Just some ideas.
- 45:52Speaker 1: That could be Green Lantern's movie. I mean, I don't
- 45:55Speaker 1: think we're talking about a Man of Tomorrow storyline.
- 45:58Speaker 3: No, no, no, no. I'm not talking about Man of Tomorrow. No,
- 46:01Speaker 3: there's a whole different thing.
- 46:03Speaker 1: I think they're going to try the big success of Marvel,
- 46:06Speaker 1: and then the DC movie franchise tried to replicate that,
- 46:11Speaker 1: except they kind of did it backward, where they kind
- 46:14Speaker 1: of introduced a bunch of them at the same time.
- 46:15Speaker 1: I think maybe they'll go back to the original formula
- 46:21Speaker 1: and do a bunch of independent movies and then try
- 46:23Speaker 1: to do it justice.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 46:26Speaker 2: I mean, Man of Tomorrow is starting to sound like
- 46:28Speaker 2: a Justice League movie already.
- 46:30Speaker 1: It's got a lot of characters in it.
- 46:32Speaker 3: Doesn't it?
- 46:33Speaker 2: AWOL Fast is a season two going to be greenlit,
- 46:38Speaker 2: pun intended. It hasn't yet. Nobody knows. Nobody knows.
- 46:46Speaker 3: They just spent a lot of money. They need to
- 46:47Speaker 3: make some money.
- 46:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 46:49Speaker 3: They need to put out some content. Yeah.
- 46:52Speaker 2: They need a Batman movie, man.
- 46:53Speaker 3: This was a very popular piece of content. um yeah
- 46:57Speaker 3: they're gonna i mean it's it's like the like the
- 46:59Speaker 3: third highest watched hbo show in history or something so
- 47:04Speaker 3: i saw this i saw this stat the other day
- 47:06Speaker 3: they said you know the show was averaging 19 million
- 47:10Speaker 3: viewers an episode which is the same as what the
- 47:12Speaker 3: game of thrones finale got yeah so uh if you
- 47:17Speaker 3: ask me yeah oh there's definitely gonna be a second
- 47:19Speaker 3: season they have to they'd be stupid not to yeah i.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Don't know i i've seen a lot of complaints um
- 47:25Speaker 2: Do you guys know about Surf Dracula? Do you know
- 47:27Speaker 2: about this?
- 47:28Speaker 1: Who doesn't?
- 47:29Speaker 3: Dracula?
- 47:30Speaker 1: Okay.
- 47:31Speaker 2: So it comes from a tweet from a few years ago.
- 47:33Speaker 2: It says, back in the day, if you did a
- 47:36Speaker 2: TV show called Surf Dracula, you would see that fool
- 47:39Speaker 2: surfing around in a nude venture. But in the streaming era,
- 47:42Speaker 2: we get an entire first season. That's going to be
- 47:44Speaker 2: a long-ass flashback on how he got his surfboard, and
- 47:47Speaker 2: you don't finally see him surf for the last five
- 47:49Speaker 2: minutes of the finale.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Right? So.
- 47:53Speaker 2: That's kind of what they did with Landers.
- 47:55Speaker 1: We want to see some surfboard shit.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Yeah. I need to see that pool surfing.
- 48:01Speaker 3: Season two.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Need to make up for that.
- 48:03Speaker 3: Okay.
- 48:07Speaker 1: So, overall, we like the season.
- 48:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I like it.
- 48:10Speaker 1: We all wanted to see some more ring crap. Yeah.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Again, I was disappointed with the last episode, but I mean,
- 48:17Speaker 3: it's the first time in a long time. Because it's
- 48:20Speaker 3: a streaming show. Yeah, it comes out on Sunday, but
- 48:22Speaker 3: you watch it whenever you want.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:24Speaker 3: First time in a long time that Sunday night, nine
- 48:27Speaker 3: Oh five, I'm grabbing my son, like finish up what
- 48:29Speaker 3: you're doing. Cause I'm watching lanterns. And if you want
- 48:32Speaker 3: to watch it with me, come on down.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Yep.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Did you guys watch the penguin show?
- 48:36Speaker 3: I did not.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Not yet.
- 48:38Speaker 2: I would say the penguin show was better.
- 48:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:41Speaker 2: It's really good.
- 48:43Speaker 3: I only saw the Batman once. Okay.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Same.
- 48:46Speaker 3: So maybe I will watch that again. I watched it
- 48:48Speaker 3: once and I was like, all right, that's okay.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:50Speaker 3: I don't know what all the fuss is about. Yeah.
- 48:53Speaker 3: i'll watch it again before i see i got some
- 48:56Speaker 3: homework to do because my son asked me he's dad
- 48:59Speaker 3: the new avengers movie's coming out can we can we
- 49:01Speaker 3: re-watch everything after endgame okay that's a lot of stuff
- 49:05Speaker 3: to watch we gotta make a list i said there's
- 49:07Speaker 3: a lot of tv shows in there buddy and some
- 49:09Speaker 3: of those shows have you know 20 episodes.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Yeah i think well in the new list of what
- 49:14Speaker 2: to watch the new wanda or the new vision Quest
- 49:17Speaker 2: is coming out too.
- 49:18Speaker 6: Yes.
- 49:19Speaker 3: So I need to re-watch WandaVision. I need to finish
- 49:23Speaker 3: Agatha because I never finished it.
- 49:25Speaker 1: I never finished it either. Yeah.
- 49:27Speaker 3: Because I really want to see Vision Quest. But I
- 49:31Speaker 3: don't want to do it backwards. I don't want to
- 49:32Speaker 3: watch Vision Quest and then go watch the other ones
- 49:35Speaker 3: again so it makes sense.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:37Speaker 2: Well, I saw like a quick interview with Terry Metallus
- 49:41Speaker 2: and he says that you don't need to do all
- 49:43Speaker 2: the homework for vision quests that they kind of bring
- 49:46Speaker 2: you up to speed on everything as it happens.
- 49:49Speaker 3: Okay.
- 49:49Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 49:50Speaker 1: I've heard you do want to rewatch Loki before you watch. Yeah.
- 49:55Speaker 2: Jacob, I'm thinking about rewatching Gotham.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:58Speaker 3: If you want to.
- 49:59Speaker 1: That's a good series.
- 50:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 50:01Speaker 2: I never got into it.
- 50:02Speaker 3: I watched the first, I watched the first season of it,
- 50:05Speaker 3: I think.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Yeah. it was a good grounded series. It pulled you
- 50:09Speaker 1: out a couple of times. The, the biggest time was, uh,
- 50:12Speaker 1: they actually went to like an Acme bad guy store
- 50:15Speaker 1: once to get their bombs and traps. That kind of
- 50:21Speaker 1: brought me out of it a little bit.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Okay. I was gonna say grounded. That felt pretty wacky
- 50:26Speaker 2: every time I watched it. I, other than that, I
- 50:28Speaker 2: thought it was pretty good.
- 50:29Speaker 3: Okay.
- 50:30Speaker 1: You know, I thought it was, you.
- 50:31Speaker 3: Know, yeah, but, So one thing I learned last year
- 50:35Speaker 3: is I rewatched the flash from beginning, from beginning to
- 50:39Speaker 3: end with my son.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:41Speaker 3: Yeah. With my son. He was very excited the whole time. So,
- 50:44Speaker 3: you know, there were some times there where it was
- 50:46Speaker 3: a slog.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:48Speaker 3: And, and I pushed through it and I've kind of
- 50:51Speaker 3: come to the conclusion that you don't have to rewatch everything.
- 50:56Speaker 6: Right.
- 50:57Speaker 3: If it wasn't good the first time, just, just let
- 51:01Speaker 3: it be.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:02Speaker 3: But at the same time, he's my son. If he
- 51:04Speaker 3: wants to watch this stuff with dad so he can
- 51:06Speaker 3: go see the movie with dad. I mean, he's 14.
- 51:09Speaker 3: I got a few more years where he wants to
- 51:11Speaker 3: do shit with me.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Right.
- 51:12Speaker 3: And then I'm going to be I'm going to be
- 51:14Speaker 3: nobody for about 10 years. Yeah. Until he comes back around. So,
- 51:19Speaker 3: you know, if he wants to watch My Little Pony,
- 51:21Speaker 3: the movie, that's.
- 51:23Speaker 2: What we're doing.
- 51:24Speaker 3: Popcorn, buddy. Yeah. Yeah.
- 51:27Speaker 2: For sure.
- 51:28Speaker 3: For sure. Okay.
- 51:29Speaker 1: All right.
- 51:30Speaker 2: Well, should we get to listener feedback then? Yeah, let's
- 51:33Speaker 2: do it.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Let's do it.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Listener feedback. We did get a voicemail about lanterns.
- 51:41Speaker 2: That's why I was asking about that.
- 51:43Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Let them know how they can join us too.
- 51:46Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. So we are all over social media, TrekCastTNG.
- 51:52Speaker 2: We're on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, X, whatever you call it, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter.
- 51:58Speaker 2: We're all over the place. And then, of course, if
- 52:00Speaker 2: you want to leave us a voicemail, you can give
- 52:04Speaker 2: us a call at 570-661-0001. That's 570-661-0001. And, of course,
- 52:13Speaker 2: if you want to join us on the show, just
- 52:16Speaker 2: X up in the chat, hit an X, and we'll
- 52:18Speaker 2: bring you on. And while we're waiting for people to
- 52:21Speaker 2: do that, let's play our voicemail that we got.
- 52:24Speaker 4: All right. the ground approach kind of reminds me of
- 52:30Speaker 4: a Green Lantern, Green Arrow comic that was released, I
- 52:33Speaker 4: think it was back in the 70s, about ground level
- 52:37Speaker 4: crime and whatnot. The lantern at the end having a
- 52:43Speaker 4: mix of yellow and green. I almost wonder if that
- 52:45Speaker 4: might be an incubator for parallax and they can use
- 52:48Speaker 4: parallax looking for a host vessel and they can use
- 52:51Speaker 4: Hal Jordan's body. So I think they've become a Vessel
- 52:56Speaker 4: for Parallax and Comics, so that'd be kind of cool.
- 52:59Speaker 4: Hal Jordan, or main guy, forget his name.
- 53:01Speaker 1: For the moment.
- 53:03Speaker 4: Jon Stewart there becomes an independent contractor. Thought that was
- 53:07Speaker 4: kind of cool as well, see where they take that.
- 53:09Speaker 4: The finale kind of felt like a mid-season finale.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Couldn't get more episodes.
- 53:16Speaker 4: These short seasons on modern-day television kind of sucks, but
- 53:19Speaker 4: oh well, see what it takes from there and see
- 53:22Speaker 4: what happens.
- 53:23Speaker 1: There you go.
- 53:24Speaker 3: So what I was saying earlier about taking little bits
- 53:27Speaker 3: and pieces out of different storylines and weaving them together,
- 53:31Speaker 3: there was a period in the early night where Guy
- 53:34Speaker 3: Gardner was no longer a Green Lantern, but he was
- 53:37Speaker 3: still a hero. Because I think Sinestro was in prison,
- 53:42Speaker 3: and I don't remember how, but he got a hold
- 53:44Speaker 3: of Sinestro's Yellow Ring. Yeah. And he was using Sinestro's
- 53:47Speaker 3: Yellow Ring to continue to operate as a superhero.
- 53:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:52Speaker 3: Had all the same powers as Green Lantern, but they
- 53:54Speaker 3: were yellow, i.e. he was an independent contractor. Right. So
- 54:00Speaker 3: we may see at some point the roles, the situations flip.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:07Speaker 3: John is the official Green Lantern of Sector 2814, and
- 54:12Speaker 3: Guy is the independent contractor with his yellow ring.
- 54:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:17Speaker 3: Just an idea.
- 54:18Speaker 2: Could be.
- 54:19Speaker 3: And now that D.C., and Star Trek are under one banner,
- 54:24Speaker 3: they're going to have to figure out the sector situation.
- 54:27Speaker 3: Is Earth sector 2814, or is it sector 001? It
- 54:32Speaker 3: can't be both. It can't be both.
- 54:35Speaker 2: No, it cannot.
- 54:36Speaker 3: They got to get on that. They got to get
- 54:38Speaker 3: their shit together.
- 54:39Speaker 2: This is what matters.
- 54:40Speaker 3: This is what matters. This is what matters.
- 54:43Speaker 1: Yes.
- 54:44Speaker 3: And here's a nerd alert for you. There is a
- 54:46Speaker 3: Green Lantern of Vulcan.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 54:49Speaker 3: He has appeared in DC Comics. He has the Spock haircut.
- 54:54Speaker 3: He has pointed ears. But the word Vulcan is generic
- 54:58Speaker 3: enough that they could get away with.
- 55:01Speaker 2: Now they don't have to worry about it. They can
- 55:04Speaker 2: just do it.
- 55:05Speaker 1: There's a Vulcan, Michigan.
- 55:07Speaker 3: There's a Vulcan, Michigan. Vulcan was.
- 55:12Speaker 1: There's a Romulus, Michigan, too.
- 55:14Speaker 3: There's a Romulus, New York. But I think Vulcan was
- 55:17Speaker 3: the name of a moon that was later proven to
- 55:20Speaker 3: not be... not be real yeah make hair it's great
- 55:24Speaker 3: again yeah yeah it's great what do you mean we're
- 55:26Speaker 3: always great man that's right baby that's great.
- 55:29Speaker 2: That's right all right we got we got chas is
- 55:31Speaker 2: waiting in the celestial temple been watching him drink his
- 55:35Speaker 2: coffee there he is oh yeah it's real baby real yeah.
- 55:40Speaker 1: What's up chas biz not much.
- 55:43Speaker 5: What'd you think of lanterns uh i i wanted actual
- 55:47Speaker 5: cg and special effects on this.
- 55:49Speaker 2: One you wanted some ring shit i wanted some.
- 55:52Speaker 5: Ring stuff i mean yeah just kind of like that
- 55:55Speaker 5: last episode was so anti-climactic you know it was just
- 55:59Speaker 5: like no one's.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Going to nebraska aren't you happy it's gonna be a
- 56:03Speaker 2: husker yeah.
- 56:04Speaker 5: Yeah he's gonna he's gonna be a husker i.
- 56:06Speaker 3: Wanted i want a t-shirt of uh of daniel and
- 56:10Speaker 3: the word bubble just says where's the ring shit yeah yeah.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Hey, I coined it. I want some revenue from that.
- 56:18Speaker 3: There you go.
- 56:20Speaker 5: I mean, that mom wanted him to play football so
- 56:23Speaker 5: bad that she just popped him right in the head. Yeah,
- 56:26Speaker 5: it was crazy. I mean, that was like the quickest.
- 56:28Speaker 5: I was like, wait, that's how he dies?
- 56:31Speaker 3: You've got to be kidding me.
- 56:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:34Speaker 5: He spends 10 years in prison, gets out. Everybody hates
- 56:38Speaker 5: him in the town. He stays in the town. They
- 56:41Speaker 5: try to burn down his house. And then I guess
- 56:42Speaker 5: the one kid clones him or does something to him.
- 56:46Speaker 1: Well, as far as her killing him, I read somewhere
- 56:49Speaker 1: online and it made sense. She has shot at him
- 56:53Speaker 1: before and almost as a demonstration. And part of it
- 56:58Speaker 1: could be explained away that she didn't premeditatedly murder him
- 57:01Speaker 1: or even accidentally murder him. She might have expected him
- 57:05Speaker 1: to put a shield up and just forgot that he
- 57:08Speaker 1: didn't have a ring.
- 57:10Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Yeah. That's not going to hold up.
- 57:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to say.
- 57:16Speaker 2: It's not going to hold up in court.
- 57:17Speaker 1: Maybe not in the Superior Court of New York, but
- 57:20Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just saying. I couldn't walk into a
- 57:22Speaker 1: court and say, well, your honor, I just thought he
- 57:25Speaker 1: was going to raise shields. Yeah, exactly.
- 57:29Speaker 3: You testified to that in the 2814 Appellate Division preliminary hearing.
- 57:35Speaker 5: No.
- 57:36Speaker 1: Even the prosecutor will say, okay, insanity plea, we'll talk
- 57:40Speaker 1: about it.
- 57:41Speaker 3: Yeah. You're going to be bunk mates with Sinestro. on
- 57:44Speaker 3: the space jail planet.
- 57:48Speaker 5: Well live stream it you know this christmas.
- 57:51Speaker 3: Oh god yeah that so what i want to see
- 57:54Speaker 3: man of tomorrow uh-huh i want to see uh david
- 57:59Speaker 3: corn sweats superman uh remind john stewart after he drops
- 58:04Speaker 3: a couple f-bombs you know hey just kids around we
- 58:07Speaker 3: don't talk language language yeah language.
- 58:11Speaker 5: And don't screw any grandmas.
- 58:16Speaker 1: More action, less sex.
- 58:19Speaker 2: He's looking at Ma Kent. Hey, what's up? How you doing?
- 58:25Speaker 5: At that end, I wanted Jon Stewart to go home
- 58:28Speaker 5: and punch his dad right in the face and then
- 58:30Speaker 5: slap his mom for shooting the apples. Or just bring
- 58:36Speaker 5: a bag of apples and just start I.
- 58:39Speaker 2: Just wanted to walk on screen eating an apple, just
- 58:42Speaker 2: for those that know, you know?
- 58:44Speaker 3: Yes.
- 58:44Speaker 1: Kyle, I just thought about something. You know, in Spider-Man,
- 58:47Speaker 1: Aunt May kept getting younger and hotter. They've done the
- 58:51Speaker 1: opposite with Mrs.
- 58:52Speaker 3: Kent.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Yes. Yes. Yes.
- 58:56Speaker 5: She keeps on getting older and older.
- 58:58Speaker 2: So did John take Hal's plant?
- 59:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:00Speaker 3: Yes.
- 59:00Speaker 2: It's in the background.
- 59:02Speaker 3: It's at his parents' house.
- 59:04Speaker 5: It was in the episode before, right?
- 59:06Speaker 1: Yeah. So, is it.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Because it said, originally it said Earl Jordan. Is it
- 59:14Speaker 3: Earl Stewart now? Did they adopt him? Is there a
- 59:17Speaker 3: name change? Maybe.
- 59:19Speaker 1: I think they brought in too many names, too many
- 59:22Speaker 1: Green Lanterns to keep track of. I want to see
- 59:24Speaker 1: Alan Scott in the next one.
- 59:26Speaker 2: There you go.
- 59:27Speaker 5: Not going to happen. I'm a person that knows very
- 59:30Speaker 5: little of Lanterns, right? I've seen the movie. I've seen
- 59:34Speaker 5: a cartoon that was like with Hal Jordan, how he
- 59:37Speaker 5: got the ring and fought Sinestro, which is actually pretty good.
- 59:41Speaker 5: I'm trying to think which one.
- 59:42Speaker 1: It was like a DC. I was going to say,
- 59:44Speaker 1: because I just started watching Brightest Day.
- 59:46Speaker 5: I think it might have been Brightest Day. I think
- 59:48Speaker 5: it came out like 2010, 2011.
- 59:49Speaker 3: It was, you know.
- 59:52Speaker 2: Like a movie, right?
- 59:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it was like a.
- 59:54Speaker 5: Movie, but the cartoon movie was better than the Ryan Reynolds,
- 59:58Speaker 5: of course.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: They did an animated Green Lantern TV show in the
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: early 2000s.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: CGI, right?
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: It's pretty good.
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: I would like to know about the rings and all
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: that because I'm a normie on this. I don't know
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: hardly anything about Green Lantern. I've got to say the
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: actors they picked for the show. The characters, because they're
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: all assholes to each other.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: I've got to say Kyle Chandler, Pierre.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Oh, Jean something Pierre.
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: The guys that.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Played Hal, the guys that played John, I thought they
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: did a fantastic job in there.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Aaron Pierre, that's what it is.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: In their respective roles.
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: Acting was great. Give me some more lore on the
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: ring and everything. I would love that.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Somebody pointed out that had Kyle Channer played Hal Jordan
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: in the original Green Lantern movie, he could have had
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: a big movie run like Iron Man style, like Robert
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: Downey Jr., because he did so well with that character.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: I kind of see it, man. Let me ask you
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: guys something. When was the last time you watched that
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: 2011 movie? It's not as bad as people say it is.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: It's not.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: It's not.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: You can enjoy it for what it is.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: I rewatched it a few years ago. You know what
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: I would love to see? I would love to see
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: somebody go back and edit out the CGI costume. Put
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: something similar to what we saw Kyle Chandler wearing. Because
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: a lot of what I didn't like about that was
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: just the look Yeah. Of the, of the costume, but
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: I rewatched it.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: It wasn't that bad.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: No, the story was not that bad. I don't think
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: Ryan Reynolds was the right person.
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: To play that part. Cause he, he's too snarky. Well that, yeah.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: So a lot of times, yeah. A lot of his,
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: a lot of his earlier work is, uh, is Van
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: Wilder as green lantern.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: And, but even then it didn't make it unwatchable. It's
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: not a bad, it's not a bad movie. If they
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: had kept going, that could have been their Iron Man.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: They could have built a universe around that movie. And
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: it's a shame that they didn't. So that was 15
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: years ago at this point. We had 15 years of
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: reboots and false starts and some absolute trash.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: But if you had Kyle Chandler in that movie, even
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: with the bad effects, I think you would have gotten
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: a sequel.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Maybe you clean up the, the design style, but you
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: had him in it. It would be good.
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: If you had Nathan Fillion.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: 2011.
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: Hal Jordan, which is what everybody wanted for years.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: For years. I mean, he's fine. He's fine. As Guy Gardner.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: It will put that on too. And like, there's a
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: slight delay between us and so yeah. Great minds think alike.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: There you go.
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, he's okay. As Guy, I don't mind it. Um,
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: I think he would have been better as hell 15
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: years ago.
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: Well, Guy Gardner have a new haircut for the next movie.
- 1:03:22Speaker 6: No.
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: No.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: No.
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: No.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: I love that.
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: If anything, it'll be more of a bowl cut where
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: it'll be shaved on the bottom, which I would actually
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: prefer that. There's going to be a cut scene where
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: they're actually cutting it.
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: So the thing with him, you know, I like Nathan Fillion.
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: He's fine as Guy Gardner, but Guy is supposed to
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: be jacked.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: He actually... I remember reading in the comics, I'm not
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: sure exactly how he did it, but he used his
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: ring to beef up his own body. I don't know
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: if he used it for isometrics, where you're just using
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: your own muscle and working against your own muscle. Theoretically,
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: he could use the ring to construct a shell around
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: his body for the purpose of making every movement I make,
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: make it twice as hard as it needs to be.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: The ultimate total gym.
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: Yes. And that would build his muscle. So, I mean,
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: Guy is supposed to, I mean, he's a gym teacher.
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: He's supposed to be, you know, he's supposed to be
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: this athletic guy. I'm sorry. Physical educator.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: Physical educator.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Athletic director.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Athletic director. That's what it was. Go climb a rope
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: is what he told me.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Go climb a rope.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: So, I didn't know this, but I saw this in
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: a YouTube video and I looked it up and apparently
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: it's true. Guy Gardner, the reason why he doesn't feel
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: fear is he was hit by a bus.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: Yes. Yes, he has brain damage. He has brain damage.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: Yes. I do love that.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: That's why he's kind of a dick, too, because he's
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: got brain damage and he doesn't know any better.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: PSA kids, don't go hit by a bus thinking a
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: TBI is going to get you super.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: Yeah, no.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: Fearlessness. It might make you a dick, but.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: I did like the showdown in jail.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: Between John and Guy.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: He basically says, everything you have, you have because I
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: gave it away. Mm-hmm. Because I refused it or, you know,
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: you owe me. Yeah. You owe me. And I think
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: that set the tone for the relationship between the two
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: of them. Mm-hmm. which makes the last scene with them work.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Right.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: Where John's like, you know, where guys like, Oh, the
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: guardians aren't going to stand for this. They're going to
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: send an army. And he's like, tell him to come.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: I'll give a shit.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: I got no problem. Yeah.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: Bring them. You are a little, maybe not intimidated, but
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: he looked a little bit like, Oh no, no, he
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: was intimidated. He was intimidated. And this is the same
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: guy that got in Superman's face.
- 1:06:07Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: You know, he was bringing on big blue. Yeah.
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: He was intimidated because he said, this is the guy,
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: the Guardians wanted this guy. They settled for me. This
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: guy spent his whole life training for them. It was
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: just thrust upon me.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: And he's not afraid of me.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: No.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: And his ring isn't even charged.
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: I think I'm in over my head. Yeah.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: Jacob asked, what kind of suit do we think Stewart
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: will get? I mean, with James Gunn, it'll probably be
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: a comic accurate suit, you know? In Man of Tomorrow.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: I have a bunch of lines on it for no reason.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: Full leather. Full leather.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: I think, and I hope, I think, and I hope
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: that he replicates Hal's suit.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: As a military guy, I think he would want that.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: The word is uniform.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: Yes. He's not part of the Corps. He's an independent contractor. Yeah,
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: Yeah, but even independent contractors wear fatigues. You know, even
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: if they're black or not the same, you know, it's
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: the same cut.
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: Onesie. Spandex.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: SWAT wears the same exact uniform as the Army does,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: just a different color. Right.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: I could see, like, remember in Guardians of the Galaxy 3,
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: the kind of Nova Corps type of suits that the
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: guys wore? I'm trying to find the image so I
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: can show you. Okay, I found it.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: So.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: These kind of like red and blue suits. I could
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: see like a style of that, but Green Lantern.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: I kind of want to see what Kyle Chandler was
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: wearing in action.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: It looked good. I didn't have any complaints about that uniform.
- 1:07:54Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: My complaint is that we didn't see it in action.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Well, yeah.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: We never saw it. We saw it on a hanger
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: and we saw him talking to Sinestro wearing it. Yeah.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: And we saw him sitting in a chair talking to
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: a reporter. That's it.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: That's it.
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: What happened to Jon Stewart's bird?
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: Didn't it disappear when he got the lantern back to Hull?
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Also, did they ever explain how he was able to
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: project that without the ring?
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: In the comics, it ends up Jon Stewart can project
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: Green Lantern constructs just through his own within him.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: So he's got the right metachlorians inside of him.
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: He's essentially a living battery.
- 1:08:38Speaker 5: He's gonna say the same shit.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: Yeah gotcha so yeah he's space jesus he's space jesus
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: space jesus yeah so oh boy what's your thought.
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: On uh the matt reeves batman being delayed.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: Yeah apparently there's a it's a family thing and it's
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: something they've known that the could have happened. And so
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: they were aware that it was potential. I know that's
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: why the script's taken so long.
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: To be written.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: He was dealing with it. We don't know what it is.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: It hasn't come out. I mean, I heard rumors of
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: what it could be. So it's, they've got a pretty
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: good lid on it, whatever it is.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: I mean, I, i would love to see that movie
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: but if he's got family stuff i get it you
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: know who's got family stuff who are we talking about
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: matt reeves the director.
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: Okay the next batman too yeah gunn can't make his
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: own batman he can't bring because matt reeves has batman
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: so that's like but it's not tied into the universe right.
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: But they they talked about they were gonna do two
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: batman movies like The Matt Reeves one going and then
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: just another one.
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: I think that was the deal Ellison probably made with
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: Gunn the other day is about Batman.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: Yeah. That'll be interesting. Have they cast a Batman for.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: They have not. They have not.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: I saw Jason Eccles in the running. I saw.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all just rumors.
- 1:10:03Speaker 5: It's like James Bond right now. It's like all these.
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: Like the Clayface movie is coming out, right? I wouldn't
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: be surprised if we see like the back... Of a Batman,
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: but we never see his face.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: You know, maybe it ends with Clayface is running amok
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: and then looking over the city, he stands up, there's Batman,
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: end of movie, you know?
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Da-da-da-da-da.
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: That'd be awesome.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised as that, you know?
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: They bring Danny Elfman back, it'd be awesome too.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: I'd love to, yeah, I'd love that.
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: Oh, I'd love that. They gotta figure something out, because,
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: you know, making these things takes three, four, five years.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Right. People lose interest.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: They forget. Yes. Yeah. You know, David Cornsweat's been at
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: this for two years at this point. Right. Well, in
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: four years, he'll be six years older than when he started. Right.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: You know, it seems like a long time, but pull
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: up Endgame, get a screenshot of Robert Downey Jr. Yeah.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: And put it next to Robert Downey Jr. in Iron
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: Man 1.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: Big difference. People age fast.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Yeah. You don't have a limited time.
- 1:11:10Speaker 6: No.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I guess we're getting close to the
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: end here. So for next episode, do we want to
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: start doing those documentaries, the center stage ones?
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: We're all on YouTube. We're center seat. Sorry, center seat.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Center seat.
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: Yeah. They're all on YouTube. I figure we do one
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: episode at a time. So start with the first one
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: and then go from there.
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: Weekly or biweekly?
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know. We'll see.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: We'll figure it out.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: We'll figure it out.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: We'll let you guys know. It's another reason why you
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: guys need to go to the Facebook page and Instagram.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: A lot of activity over there. We love that kind
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: of stuff.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Once the holidays are around the corner, it's going to
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: be a little rougher.
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: It's the holiday season, and TrekCast is going bi-weekly. And
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: then we've got to build up our strength for March
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: when– I have a feeling the academy is going to
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: leech upon us.
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: Take up extra hours on Sundays.
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: Daniel, how long have we been doing this? How long
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: have we been at this?
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: Many years.
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: We're coming up on 10 years. I got to check
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: with HR, but I'm pretty sure I got about 90
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: days of vacation time. There you go. You got shore leave?
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: I got some shore leave.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: I'm not tenured yet.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: I don't have surely. I'm sure stay. Yeah. Stay away
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: from this show.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: You surely want to.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: I'm sure going to stay away from this show.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Oh, boy.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: I don't blame you, man. I don't blame you.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: I will stay on the social medias, everybody. Yeah. To
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: get all the latest.
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: We'll catch you next time.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Bye.
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: This is Captain Benjamin Sisko of Deep Space Nine and
- 1:12:59Speaker 6: Space God to the Bajorans. I have a mission for you.
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: This falls outside of Starfleet guidelines. So I can't order you,
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: but I'm asking for volunteers. Volunteers who will subscribe to
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: the TrekCast YouTube channel, leave five-star reviews on your podcast
- 1:13:13Speaker 6: app of choice, and share TrekCast across your social media accounts.
- 1:13:18Speaker 6: If we can make our audience bigger, we might have
- 1:13:20Speaker 6: a chance against the Dominion.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: Are you ready?
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: Subscribe, like, and share. Are you with me?
