Transcript
- 0:00Hello everybody, real quick I just wanted to give you
- 0:03guys a brief little message about this episode.
- 0:06Unfortunately Steve lost some of his
- 0:09recording. We only got about a little
- 0:11bit over an hour worth of his stuff for this episode.
- 0:14So beyond a certain point, I'm
- 0:17trying to do some editing voodoo magic to be able to
- 0:20get this to sound like a normal episode. So
- 0:23if you notice anything strange, I just want to
- 0:26let you guys know that that's probably what it is,
- 0:28but I'm gonna do my best to make everything seem
- 0:30seamless. So all right, just want to
- 0:32give you guys a quick bit of info on that and then
- 0:35all right now it's time for the episode. Hello,
- 0:44what's your least favorite scary movie? Wazza!
- 0:51Wazza! Wazza! Wazza! Wazza!
- 0:57Welcome to what's your least favorite scary movie,
- 0:59the podcast where we talk about the good, the bad,
- 1:01the ugly, and the absurd in all of our favorites.
- 1:04And least favorite. Scary
- 1:05movies. Because we believe every horror
- 1:06movie rightfully has its fan base. Even
- 1:08if we don't always get it. My
- 1:10name is Travis. My name is Jesse. And
- 1:11today we have a very special episode for
- 1:14everybody because we have our buddy Steve here from
- 1:17the Decision Reel to help us talk about scary movie
- 1:20today. Wazza! Steve, good to have you
- 1:24back, man. Hey, hell yeah, man. It's
- 1:25always a pleasure to be back on the show because
- 1:28it's so much fun. Well, it feels like it's all
- 1:30been building up to this point right here because I
- 1:33feel like every single time we talk about a movie
- 1:35together, it all leads to scary movies somehow. It
- 1:38always comes back and it's funny rewatching this for
- 1:40the first time in, I don't know, a year. I
- 1:43probably watch this every year, but I didn't realize
- 1:45how many different movies they're parodying. I
- 1:48mean, like, yeah, obviously, you know, the main ones,
- 1:50but then you start looking deeper and you're like,
- 1:51holy shit, there's a lot here. Yeah,
- 1:54that's the great thing about the parodies of this
- 1:57era here is like it kind of tackles pop culture and
- 1:59just like other movies in general, just all the
- 2:01things that were influencing everything at that time. Oh
- 2:04yeah, it's great. It's really nice. Yeah.
- 2:06Okay, so since you're here, would you like to let
- 2:09people know who you are and what you do? I
- 2:12mean, I guess we could do that. Yeah.
- 2:13So hey, I am Steve. I'm from a podcast called The
- 2:16Decision Real. We do movie reviews of any
- 2:19movie that's out new, old in between, doesn't matter.
- 2:22We have three other people
- 2:24that are normally on the podcast, but you know, I
- 2:25like to do these things where I get out there and
- 2:27talk to the world with other people on other
- 2:29podcasts. So when other people can come
- 2:31on ours and we can have a good time, you can find us
- 2:34at The Decision Real, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook,
- 2:37TikTok, maybe not anymore in America, who knows. But
- 2:40you can find us there. We got a website, www
- 2:42.TheDecisionReal .com. You can find us there also,
- 2:45all of our episodes, everything else there. Find
- 2:47us, like us, do your thing. Yeah,
- 2:50cool. It's a lot of fun. We've
- 2:52been on there many times too. I
- 2:54can't remember all the movies that we've talked
- 2:55about. It's been a bunch. Thanks
- 2:58to The Decision Real, Travis has now seen Jaws.
- 3:01That is true. You're
- 3:02welcome. Yeah, this is what got me into
- 3:04that. We're about to take a deep dive
- 3:07into those sequels, by the way. Oh
- 3:08my God, they're so bad. Yeah,
- 3:10that's what I've heard. I'm so excited for him to see
- 3:12them. It's going to be that time of
- 3:14year. The best part is Michael Cain
- 3:16is in one of them. Yeah, we were just talking about
- 3:19that. Sir Michael Cain. Michael
- 3:21Cain. There we go. Are
- 3:23we? Okay, Jesse, do you have any
- 3:26announcements you want to cover? I
- 3:28do. This past weekend, we did our
- 3:30monthly to be or not to be and it was Jesse's
- 3:32pick, which means we had the truly to sleepover
- 3:35slaughter. And it's exactly what it sounds
- 3:38like. No, it's not. It's
- 3:41about 20 % of sleepover. I'd
- 3:46say 50 % slaughter and then you're correct. 20 %
- 3:50twerking. Twerking a montage. It's
- 3:52really fun. And they cheer it. They
- 3:55don't cheer at football games unless you're
- 3:56European. I was going to say it
- 3:58depends on the football you are talking about. Yeah.
- 4:00So go ahead and go check that out. There's
- 4:03twerking in a cheerleader slasher movie. Yeah,
- 4:07like I'm not. I think maybe saying 20 %
- 4:10twerking in the movie is generous. Like
- 4:12it's probably closer to 30%. Like
- 4:14they have two extended twerking montages and an
- 4:18hour and two minute movie. In
- 4:20fact, like the halfway in the movie at the party
- 4:23that you guys want to have a twerk off and then they
- 4:25have a twerk off. It lasts like five minutes of
- 4:28them just twerking. Yeah. Yeah. I
- 4:31don't know how to feel about this. That's
- 4:32like hilariously. I'm not. Honestly,
- 4:36I feel there. We read a review about it
- 4:38that said great movie if you like showers and
- 4:41twerking. And that's really all you need
- 4:43to know about it. Well, OK, then. I
- 4:45mean, I might have to watch it now. It's
- 4:49not a bad way to spend an hour. No,
- 4:50it's not. Oh, it's only an hour long
- 4:52too. Yeah. So that's not even a movie
- 4:54then. Yeah. Yeah. Not
- 4:57like it shouldn't be feature length, but it is.
- 4:59But yeah, I mean, it is what
- 5:01it is. They did the best. Yeah.
- 5:03It's fun. All right. I've
- 5:06got our poll results for last week. OK.
- 5:08So we talked about spiral from the book of saw. And
- 5:11as always with our saw movies, it's which trap do
- 5:14you think that you would survive? Yeah.
- 5:16So we had the subway trap, which is the tongue one.
- 5:19We had the finger trap, the
- 5:20wax trap and the glass grinder. OK.
- 5:23So let's go ahead with the easy one. Twitter
- 5:26was 100 percent the tongue trap. People
- 5:28are willing to bite their tongues off for that one.
- 5:31I refuse to believe that
- 5:33people on Twitter are willing to rip their
- 5:34tongues out. There's no fucking way. Oh,
- 5:37God. Yeah. Nobody on that platform
- 5:40wants to stay silent. Well, hold on. They
- 5:42don't need to actually be talking to type all the
- 5:45shit that they're doing on Twitter. Oh,
- 5:46you think that don't bring reason into this? People
- 5:48on Twitter are just keeping it to Twitter. I
- 5:51mean, all right. You're right. What
- 5:52about Twitter spaces? Oh, yeah, I do love some
- 5:55Twitter spaces. Yeah, OK. The
- 5:57right night. OK. And over on Instagram, 43
- 6:02percent the subway trap, 29 percent the finger trap, 29
- 6:06percent the wax trap and nobody is making it out of
- 6:09the glass grinder. Wow. OK. So
- 6:12I remember last week I said I wasn't ripping out
- 6:14my tongue. I wasn't ripping off my
- 6:16fingies and I wasn't severing my spinal cord. So
- 6:18I said by default, I'd have to go with the glass
- 6:21and apparently I'm I'm with the zero percent on that.
- 6:25Good on you. You
- 6:26know, I did the finger trap. The
- 6:29finger trap like, yeah, well, because you practice
- 6:30all the time not using your hands or fingers.
- 6:33Well, I think I remember I said
- 6:34I was going to be a powerpuff girl afterwards
- 6:36where I just get my nubs and just get some Velcro
- 6:39or something like that. Or I like give me some like
- 6:41robotic fingers. You know, sciences come a long
- 6:43way. It has Steve. Do
- 6:45you remember the traps from that movie? So
- 6:46I'm trying to remember the glass trap. I
- 6:48think I remember everything else. That's
- 6:50the one where he the dirty cop is tied up and like
- 6:54the shards of glass are shooting out of a cannon
- 6:56and he has to like unlock him. Yeah.
- 6:59I cost to like run up and unlock him. It's
- 7:01the partner he turned in that got him what branded
- 7:06a rat. Was it the one where the movie
- 7:09starts out with them with the two guys where one guy
- 7:12can't speak, one guy can't see and there's like to
- 7:13chain together. You're several movies behind. Oh,
- 7:17what? I can't. This
- 7:19is the Chris Rock one. Oh, spiral. Oh,
- 7:21yeah. Oh, um, I've seen it once. OK,
- 7:29OK. And I remember not not hating
- 7:31it at all. I was like, I'm actually
- 7:32surprised by this. Yeah, exactly. Um,
- 7:36I'm trying to remember that. I
- 7:37don't remember that. And I feel like that would be
- 7:39a very like, yeah, I remember that type scene.
- 7:42It's got some of the gnarliest
- 7:44traps, I think they're they're all pretty brutal.
- 7:46I think we have we generally
- 7:48have had a fairly easy time like being able to be
- 7:52like, well, I guess if I had to do any of these,
- 7:53I'd do this trap. Right. This one's like, uh, yeah,
- 7:57it's like either you can't speak, either you lose your
- 8:00fingers, either you're paralyzed or either you
- 8:03have glass going through your body. Like,
- 8:05yeah, which one are you going to choose? Just
- 8:08just kill me. I mean, yeah, pretty much.
- 8:10It's funny. The
- 8:11the the thing I remember most about that movie is
- 8:15there's a YouTube guy that I watch. His
- 8:16name is Chris Ramsey. He's like a magician and there's
- 8:19a scene in which. Is he a mind freak? No,
- 8:23no, please. These are two different things.
- 8:27My free anyways, I just
- 8:29remember watching it and then there's a scene in
- 8:31which Chris Ramsey's on screen. I'm
- 8:33like, wait, wait, no, no, because this guy's not like
- 8:36a big deal. Like in the world, like he's
- 8:39got, I think, you know, he gets a couple million views
- 8:41here and there and he might have over a million
- 8:42subscribers, whatever, but like in the magic world,
- 8:45sure. And he's the scene where the
- 8:48dude gets like his leg blown off or like his leg
- 8:50broken. Oh, the drug dealer. Yeah,
- 8:52yeah, he's the drug dealer. But
- 8:54because it's such a weird like, yo, wait a second,
- 8:58that's that guy. I literally had to stop the
- 9:00movie and like I am DP like, oh my God, it is
- 9:03Chris Ramsey. Get the fuck out. OK,
- 9:04but here's the thing. We talked about how Chris Rock
- 9:07seems like he's probably a real fucking nerd. So
- 9:09I could see Chris Rock being like, I want this
- 9:12magician guy. I like right. Well,
- 9:14he also he made a video about being in it and
- 9:17everything. And the thing is he's a
- 9:19Canadian. He lives in Canada. I
- 9:20think he lives in Vancouver, Toronto or
- 9:22whatever. And I feel like they were
- 9:23filming. Exactly. So it was one of those
- 9:26things of the world's coming together and I don't
- 9:28know. It was kind of cool. OK,
- 9:30so let's get into scary movie. I'm
- 9:35always I'm ready for scary movie. OK,
- 9:38so scary movie released July 7th, 2000. We
- 9:42watched it on our Blu -ray. But
- 9:44if you do not have Blu -ray, you can stream it on
- 9:47Max right now. I think that's pretty much
- 9:48the only option. But you can also rent it on
- 9:52Apple TV, Amazon or YouTube. I
- 9:54think it's also on the premium and like the
- 9:57YouTube subscription. It's weird. It
- 9:59looked like it was saying the Apple premium one. So
- 10:01like Showtime with Apple. Yeah.
- 10:04But that doesn't make much sense to me because like
- 10:07does that mean it's not a normal showtime? Like
- 10:09I don't really know. Yeah, there's what Showtime Plus
- 10:12or something. Yeah, like a paid for
- 10:15subscription service like everything else has. Yeah,
- 10:18like the the tiers with the different streaming
- 10:21services now. Like we've got the more basic
- 10:23Hulu and there's like a premium option that has add
- 10:26-ons and stuff. And I think you can watch it
- 10:28through that. You can. Yeah.
- 10:31I'm gonna tell you guys one thing to do with your
- 10:32life and it's gonna it's gonna fuck your life up.
- 10:35Plex. Look into Plex. I
- 10:37have and it scares the shit out of me. I'm
- 10:41like how the fuck do I manage all this? Oh
- 10:43it is. Trust me when I say it will be
- 10:47life -changing. But you do you. I'm
- 10:51gonna try to do that. Well think about this. You
- 10:53guys have I'm assuming a very large DVD Blu -ray
- 10:56whatever catalog right? Quite
- 10:59a bit. You can legally have those
- 11:03movies on Plex because you paid for them. Doesn't
- 11:06matter where you get them or you know you could rip
- 11:08them off the the discs that you have and then put
- 11:11them on Plex and then Plex is its own app in which
- 11:13it's looking to a place where you have those files
- 11:16and you can watch it on your phone on TV on your
- 11:19smart TV on someone else's smart TV. You
- 11:22can essentially make your own streaming service with
- 11:24it from what all I've seen. Yes.
- 11:26And I've gone so far to make my own television
- 11:30channels. I remember you talking about
- 11:32that before I remember you said you made one for your
- 11:34family. That was really cool. I
- 11:35did I did that I've gone even further I got like 28
- 11:37channels on that I got a horror channel I got like
- 11:39my own PIX channel and like I got I got probably
- 11:43five to six people who are on it that are like what
- 11:47they're giving up their streaming services just to
- 11:50watch what I have. So I have a server here too
- 11:53with everything so I got like 26 terabytes of data
- 11:56just sitting there. We're going to hit you up. We're
- 12:01going to get on that stream. We
- 12:03can make our own Jackass channel now that Pluto took
- 12:06away Pluto gave us the Jackass channel and then
- 12:09took it away from us. And we can have all of the
- 12:10point 5s. So I have an MTV channel that
- 12:13I made that's playing the Osborns, Jackass, Wild Boys,
- 12:19all the old stuff just constantly. And
- 12:22again, I have it. It's all on Plex so you could
- 12:24just play it whenever you want. But
- 12:25then also like I said, I got the live TV channel.
- 12:27So if you're just I don't
- 12:29know what to watch just watch the channel. Boom,
- 12:31you're in it. All right. So
- 12:33scary movie was written by Sean Wands, Marlon Wands,
- 12:37Buddy Johnson, Phil Bowman and Jason Friedberg and
- 12:40Aaron Seltzer directed by Keenan Wands. Music
- 12:44by David Cattay and special effects done by Flesh and
- 12:47Fantasy. That is what a fun name for
- 12:51special effects. Yeah. Yeah. I
- 12:54was expecting it to be a little bit more brutal name
- 12:56like Flesh and Fantasy. It seems a little bit too
- 12:59whimsical. But they're doing a horror
- 13:01movie. Potentially pornographic. Oh
- 13:04shit. You're right. Flesh
- 13:06and Fantasy. Oh my God. You're
- 13:08right. It does sound like it could
- 13:09be a porno. Okay. So I've got our cast. All
- 13:14right. And I'm going to do it like
- 13:16this. I'm going to read the name of
- 13:18the character and what character they are spoofing.
- 13:22Okay. Okay. So
- 13:23first off, we have Anna Faris who is playing. Arna
- 13:28Farts. Arna Farts, if you will. Playing
- 13:29Cindy Campbell, which obviously she's Cindy
- 13:32Prescott and Julie James from I Know What You Did
- 13:35Last Summer. John Abraham's as Bobby Prince,
- 13:38who is Billy Loomis and Ray from I Know What You
- 13:42Did Last Summer. Okay. Freddie Prince, Jr. That's
- 13:45where the prince comes from. Yeah.
- 13:48Marlon Wayne's as Shorty Meeks as Randy Meeks. I
- 13:52love the fact that he's our Randy. Damn
- 13:54son. So great. Yeah,
- 13:57it's so great. And he gets shot in the lungs.
- 13:59You want to hit this? So
- 14:00fucking funny. Yeah, it's so good. He's
- 14:03one of my favorite characters. Regina
- 14:06Hall is Brenda Meeks, who is Brandy from I Still
- 14:10Know What You Did Last Summer and Maureen Evans
- 14:12from Scream 2, which that's Jada Pinkinsmith's character.
- 14:18Sean Wayans as Ray Wilkins. He's
- 14:21the stew mokker and Phil Stevens. Phil
- 14:24Stevens is Scream 2. I don't remember which
- 14:27character that is. Oh, that's the dude from the
- 14:28opening. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Okay.
- 14:31Shannon Elizabeth, Buffy Gilmore. She
- 14:34is Helen Shivers from I Know What You Did Last
- 14:37Summer and Tatum. Sarah Michelle Geller, aka Buffy.
- 14:42Walklin Munro as Greg Philippe. He
- 14:46is... Philippe. Like Ryan Philippe. Ryan...
- 14:49Oh, Greg Philippe. Boom. That's right. Here
- 14:53it is. Yeah, he's Berry Cox. Ryan
- 14:56Philippe. Berry Cox. He's
- 14:58got a small... God. Dave Sheridan as Doofy
- 15:02Gilmore and the Killer, which, you know, he's Dewey
- 15:06and Ghostface and also the Fisherman. Yeah.
- 15:10Sherry Ottery as Gail Hellstorm. Sherry
- 15:13Ottery. Ottery? Yeah. I
- 15:15don't... Sherry Ottery, yep. Is
- 15:18that really how her name goes? Sherry
- 15:20Ottery? Yeah. It's probably a stage name
- 15:22because she's, you know, famously on SNL for
- 15:24forever. I guess she looked familiar.
- 15:27Yeah, I don't know. I
- 15:27feel like she does the best job in this movie.
- 15:30She's like being serious, but at
- 15:32the same time, obviously not. We
- 15:34watched the behind the scenes and she fucking knew
- 15:36what this was. Oh, yeah. She's
- 15:39Gail Weathers, obviously. And
- 15:41that's it. Okay. That's all I got for the
- 15:43cast. Cool. All right. Time
- 15:45for our favorite game on the show everybody. Budget.
- 15:49Oh, we're Buckethead. All right. So
- 15:52guys, do you guys think it's budget, which is $10
- 15:55million or above or Buckethead? Which
- 15:58is below that. I think this particular movie
- 16:00at this particular time with this particular set of
- 16:03people, I think it's going to be Buckethead.
- 16:05Buckethead? Hi, Buckethead. Hi,
- 16:07Buckethead. But still Buckethead. Steve,
- 16:09what's your guess? So this is the budget of the
- 16:11movie or what it made? I can never remember. The
- 16:13budget. Yeah. So do you think it was
- 16:15like over 10 million or under 10 million? Oh,
- 16:18man. That's a hard one because like
- 16:20you're right. Like nobody really knew these
- 16:22people at this point in time, but the Wayne
- 16:25Brothers were, I mean, kind of huge. But
- 16:28they just got, they got and canceled. They
- 16:30made a joke about it in the movie. Yeah,
- 16:33I know that. But I mean, yeah, because
- 16:36you're taking a chance now. Like,
- 16:37all right, well, you know, that's all right. I
- 16:40think it's going to be over 10, honestly. Over
- 16:4210? Yeah. All right. But
- 16:44not a lot. Oh, okay. What
- 16:47is it? It's like 25? It's
- 16:4919 million. Holy shit, really? Yeah,
- 16:51I know. I was shocked at this budget
- 16:53too. Wow. Yeah. It's
- 16:55pretty impressive. Well, there is a lot of actors
- 16:58in this movie. Let's be real. Right?
- 17:00There's a lot of people here. There's
- 17:02it's not like they're doing a lot with regards to like
- 17:05different scenery or, you know, different places, but
- 17:08they still have to kind of make those scenes look like
- 17:11other movies. Right? Yeah, they do a good job
- 17:14too. Like they, they look so well
- 17:16like the movies that they're making fun of. The
- 17:18garage looks exactly the same. The
- 17:21house. Yeah. Pretty close. Did
- 17:24you, you mentioned on one of our past episodes that
- 17:27I think it was saw that they had to use one of
- 17:29the scary movie sets. Yeah, scary movie four with, is
- 17:33it for the one with Dr. Fair?
- 17:34Yeah, they used that bathroom for one of the
- 17:37song babies because the set was so close. Yeah.
- 17:40I guess that they have like a track record of
- 17:42that. That's good then. Yeah.
- 17:44I mean, obviously getting to scary movie four,
- 17:46though, they're obviously bigger budgets and doing
- 17:48more stuff. But I don't know. It's
- 17:50funny looking at this movie. You're
- 17:51like, you look like it's like made for nothing, but
- 17:54in reality, yeah, that's a pretty big chunk of change
- 17:56for this type of movie. And
- 17:58then like you said, with the Wayne Brothers being an
- 18:00Antel, whatever you want to call it back then,
- 18:02somebody's going, all right, we'll give you, we'll give
- 18:04you another chance. I think this is actually more
- 18:07money than predator had like for this entire movie.
- 18:10Yeah. Which is insane. And
- 18:11they didn't even have a buddy's getting up and
- 18:13working out early in the morning. Yeah.
- 18:15They just had the fucking jungle. Just
- 18:17lifting trees, man. All right. Box
- 18:20office for this opening weekend, 42 million. Okay.
- 18:24Worldwide price. Hold on. Yeah.
- 18:26That's huge. I know, right? 42
- 18:29million, especially for something like that hasn't
- 18:31been established yet. Like this is like, I can't even
- 18:35like, I know that spoof swear thing back then, but
- 18:37I feel like this is like a new type. Hold
- 18:38on. This was the first real, real
- 18:41spoof that I mean, yeah, you got airplane and stuff
- 18:43like that. But this was like the first
- 18:45like mainstream for this demographic spoof. Yeah.
- 18:49And before it normally these movies like a couple
- 18:52of weeks later, people are going on like, oh dude,
- 18:54you got to go see this. And
- 18:55then it picks up steam opening with 42 million
- 18:58dollars. Yeah. That's like giant box
- 19:01office like bangers. Yeah. I remember back in the
- 19:05day, like when this came out, I mean, I was a kid,
- 19:08but I still remember like being excited for it. And
- 19:11I feel like. I remember my neighbor who is
- 19:14this kind of little German lady who would babysit me
- 19:17often. She was doing a date night. So
- 19:20my mom was watching her daughter and I asked where
- 19:24they were, what they were going to go see. And
- 19:26she said, scary movie. And I said, which one? She
- 19:28goes, no, it's scary movie. And
- 19:29I was like, I got it. My mom won't let me watch it.
- 19:32What's the movie called? And
- 19:33she's like, it's called scary movie. I
- 19:35was like, oh yeah. Dude sweet. But
- 19:39what does mine say? Yeah. It's funny. I
- 19:43remember going to see this in theaters with my mom.
- 19:46Just me and her. And
- 19:48think about that for a second. I
- 19:50was probably so this came out what, 2000, right? I
- 19:54was 12. So that was a fun conversation
- 19:57for most of the movie. Did you get the stuff back
- 20:01then? Oh, hell no. I
- 20:03mean, I think there was some jokes. You're
- 20:05just like, oh, that's funny. And
- 20:06then realizing like, I don't know, years later,
- 20:08like, oh, oh, oh, I was there with my mom. Yeah.
- 20:13OK, worldwide gross is also pretty impressive. It
- 20:16made 278 million. No wonder why they went. We're
- 20:20making another one. Yeah. Now. And
- 20:24I am the B score 6 .3 out of 10. OK.
- 20:27Yeah, almost 6 .9. Oh, dude, that would have been
- 20:30perfect. Right now for this movie. Yeah.
- 20:32OK, so I've got three movies from 2000. And
- 20:35they all are related in some way. So
- 20:39we'll get into the relations for that. So
- 20:41the first one, though, is Shriek. If
- 20:43you know what I did last Friday, the 13th. OK.
- 20:47Are we are we guessing what the what the
- 20:49connection is? That right there. Yeah.
- 20:51I mean, it's pretty well, no, you don't have to
- 20:53guess. But Carmen Electors and both of
- 20:55them, right? Is she? I'm
- 20:57pretty sure. Oh, shit. I've
- 20:58never seen this one. I give up being obvious. It's
- 21:01another spoof. Yeah, I feel like this is
- 21:03probably the same thing where like another studio
- 21:06catches wind of the spoof and then they try and do
- 21:08it the same year and try and, you know, catch. Oh,
- 21:11I'm wrong. That's actually Tiffany Amber
- 21:13season. Oh, OK. Well,
- 21:16I mean, it's like the same exact. Yeah,
- 21:17I guess you're right. And it premiered on TV back in
- 21:21October 17th, 2000. It had a five million dollar
- 21:26budget. Don't have a gross on it. And
- 21:28the IMDb is 3 .9 out of 10. OK.
- 21:31Yeah. It sounds like one of those
- 21:32that it these things are. We've
- 21:36said it before to do dumb humor. You
- 21:38have to be smart. Yes. And a lot of these spoof
- 21:41movies miss that. Yeah. Yeah. We'll
- 21:45get into some of those here in a second. All
- 21:48right. The next one, Scream 3, that
- 21:51released February 4th, 2000 with a 40 million dollar
- 21:55budget. My lawyer liked that. Oh,
- 21:58God. I love her character so much.
- 22:02Worldwide gross made considerably less
- 22:05than scary movie. One hundred and sixty one
- 22:07million dollars. That's pretty good. It's
- 22:10still really good. Yeah, I can't believe scary movie
- 22:13beat it by over a hundred million, though. I
- 22:15can. But I can't. I
- 22:16can, too. I mean, you got to think
- 22:17it's the the the main stay people who are like going
- 22:21to see those movies are still seeing them. But
- 22:23then the people who it always drops off. Yes,
- 22:25they're just like, ah, this is just fair. That's
- 22:28fair. Five point six. I
- 22:30am the score. I think it's getting a little
- 22:31bit more respect this time. There's
- 22:33a yeah, it's slowly getting up there. You're
- 22:35saying three. Yeah, I feel like that's a
- 22:37higher rating than when we covered it. I
- 22:39feel like it is. Three is the one where they do
- 22:41the ring stuff, right? Well,
- 22:43we're talking about screen three. Oh,
- 22:45screen three. Shit, my bad. It's
- 22:47like a scary movie three. No,
- 22:49no, scary movie three is great. I
- 22:50love that. Yeah, scary movie three is the
- 22:52one with the ring stuff. And
- 22:53she's constantly forgetting her right, right, right. Or
- 22:57in the screen three is the one where they're in
- 22:59college. No, three is the one where
- 23:01they're in Hollywood. Yeah, it's got Parker. Oh,
- 23:04oh, yeah, Parker Posey. And then yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 23:06Leia's in it. Yeah, I remember now. Sorry.
- 23:09OK, it's early in the morning, guys. My
- 23:11brain is just not working. Feel
- 23:13that. OK, final movie from 2000.
- 23:16Requiem for a dream. Oh,
- 23:19the relationship between that one. Do
- 23:20you want to guess? OK, hold on. Give
- 23:21me a second. All right. Also,
- 23:24if you want me to. Go ahead. Go
- 23:26for it. Damon Waynes, isn't it? Yes.
- 23:29Yeah, I was trying to. We haven't watched that movie
- 23:31in like 11 years. I know. It's
- 23:33been a long time. You don't need to watch it.
- 23:36No, dude. Yeah,
- 23:37one or two watches is pretty good for that. You
- 23:39feel dirty after that one. Yeah.
- 23:41Yeah, Travis is like, this is my favorite movie. So
- 23:44we rented it from Hastings, or I bought it for you as
- 23:47a gift or something. He goes, this is my second
- 23:49time watching. I was like, it's your
- 23:50favorite movie and you've only seen it once. And
- 23:52then I watched it and I was like, OK, I get it. I
- 23:55completely understand. We had an earlier get or host
- 24:00we had on our show, the decision real plug. The
- 24:03first like 30 or so episodes we had this guy
- 24:06on, I won't say his name, but if you listen to any
- 24:07episodes back, you'll you'll know his name. He
- 24:10always said like, oh, dude, that movie is not that
- 24:12bad. I'd watch it every week. And
- 24:14I'm like, are we talking about the same movie here?
- 24:16And he's like, get a record
- 24:17for a dream. You know, the Asta scene. That
- 24:19was awesome. I'm like, I'm what? I'm
- 24:21sorry. I'm sorry. What?
- 24:22I think you're missing the point of the movie, guy. I
- 24:24think you're only watching. Actually,
- 24:27I thought it was really creepy when the fridge came
- 24:29to life. Right. And he's like, no, it was
- 24:31great. I'm a big crazy jibs. Yeah.
- 24:35Damn, that's fucked up. That
- 24:37was like, yeah, the psychopath on your show
- 24:39there for a minute. Yeah, drinks, milk. It
- 24:42probably does. You know, milk. Shit.
- 24:47OK. Yeah. Requiem for a dream that
- 24:48came out December 15th, 2000, four point five
- 24:51million dollar budget, seven million dollar gross, eight
- 24:55point three IMDb score. Damn,
- 24:58it's a really good movie. But
- 25:00yeah. OK, I've got taglines. OK.
- 25:05All right. So the tagline that's on the
- 25:06poster, no mercy, no shame, no sequel. And
- 25:11I love how in later editions that's it's crossed
- 25:13out. I think they they started
- 25:16printing that on the covers after the fact. Yeah,
- 25:18because I yeah. The the second movie, the
- 25:21poster, when it came out, just said, we lied. Ah,
- 25:23that's awesome. I love it. OK.
- 25:27Next is a killer comedy. Yeah,
- 25:31I mean, that's literally what it is. Look,
- 25:33the rest of these are not very good. OK,
- 25:35I'm going to just be real. They're
- 25:36just very much like it's a comedy. So
- 25:40the next one, obey the rules or die laughing. I
- 25:44mean, there are no rules. Kind
- 25:45of cute. I know it's a wink and a
- 25:48nod to scream. Oh, shit, you're right. Yeah,
- 25:51you're right. OK, did they didn't even review
- 25:53rules in this movie? No, I was going to say, yeah,
- 25:56like there's no. Shorty was occupied. I
- 25:58want I want. No, they denied us a scene of
- 26:03him going through the rules. And
- 26:05I feel like that would have been amazing. Yeah,
- 26:07because you would just be like, what? Well,
- 26:10there's a deleted scene where he's like blatantly
- 26:11ignoring the rules. That's true. Yeah.
- 26:14I mean, he would have been the one to do it. All
- 26:17right, final tagline, funny as hell. Not
- 26:20that. Yeah, if there was like a
- 26:22demonic kind of thing in it, then all right. But
- 26:25no. OK, so fun facts. All
- 26:29right, so I figured I'd start this thing off by
- 26:32covering all of the films, parody in this movie. OK,
- 26:35so the first film we have, I know you did last
- 26:39summer, which is one of the main parodies that's
- 26:41going on throughout the entire film. Followed
- 26:43by that. We have Scream, Scream 2 and
- 26:45Scream 3. We have the sixth sense just
- 26:49from that one scene of Shorty saying, I see dead
- 26:51people where which project that's Gail Hall Storm
- 26:54doing her little running away. She
- 26:57has the drippy nose. Drippy,
- 26:59come on, it's just flowing. Yeah,
- 27:01it's so nasty. It's hilarious. We
- 27:04have Halloween, which I was reading. There
- 27:07was at one point in the script, if Jamie Lee Curtis
- 27:10were to agree to it, she would have had a cameo
- 27:13where Cindy is running through the house and she
- 27:15tries to go in a closet and she finds a worry
- 27:17strode in the closet. Just hiding. That's
- 27:20what they weren't able to do it. I
- 27:21wish they would have had a loomis stand in at some
- 27:23point. Oh, that would have been
- 27:25perfect. Because it would be so easy to
- 27:26spoof that fucker. Yeah, he's already kind of like
- 27:29you have to play him. Yeah,
- 27:32you have to play it pretty straight. Friday,
- 27:35the 13th for the. What was it that the caption
- 27:40said? Didn't you write it down? God,
- 27:43I did write it down somewhere. It
- 27:44was like, oh, God, it was fantastic. It
- 27:47was like makes sound that harkens. Oh,
- 27:50here it is. Mimics electronic sound that
- 27:52Harold's killers appearance. I
- 27:55feel like that was probably written in the script. That
- 27:58was my favorite. We have the shining where the
- 28:02killer says, Red Room. We have the Matrix, which I
- 28:05feel like every movie around this time was made
- 28:07fun of that scene. The usual suspects, which is
- 28:12the ending. Yeah, I never put that together.
- 28:14I put it in my notes. I
- 28:16said, do he is Kaiser Soze? Yeah,
- 28:18I mean, he is. We have Psycho, Bobby
- 28:22references Norman Bates with the. We
- 28:25all go crazy sometimes, which that's also a
- 28:26reference to screen. Yeah. And finally, we have
- 28:30Candyman, where Ray tells Cindy that she branded
- 28:33Bobby the Candyman after Bobby was released from
- 28:35jail. Again, I'm pretty sure that's a
- 28:37reference to screen, because I think Stu says the same
- 28:40thing to Sydney. Really? Yeah. Oh,
- 28:43sure. Like, yeah, he's heartbroken.
- 28:45You're branded in the Candyman.
- 28:47Oh, you're right. Yeah.
- 28:48Well, there we go. All right. So
- 28:52the original screenplay, it was developed by the Wayans
- 28:55Bros. They brought their whole team
- 28:56from the Wayans Bros show to do this. So
- 28:59that's Sean Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Buddy Johnson and
- 29:02Phil Bowman. At the same time, Mira Max
- 29:05was also working on another spoof of this series with
- 29:09Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. If
- 29:12those guys sound familiar, they are the people that
- 29:15are responsible for the movies like Date Movie, I
- 29:18think Meet the Spartans, Superhero Movie, all those.
- 29:22I'm going to be honest, they're
- 29:23the weaker portion of this team. Yeah.
- 29:25And funny thing is they only get the credit on
- 29:29here by like a technicality. I
- 29:32think it's like the WGA forces them to have it
- 29:34because they merged the two working together. Yeah,
- 29:37they did, I guess, I think if you do enough work on
- 29:39the script, you get a writing credit automatically.
- 29:41Yes. Well, the thing is they
- 29:43brought the script. So like they're gone. They're
- 29:46out of the equation. It's just a Wayans Bros. working
- 29:48on this now. And they brought the script to
- 29:51Kenan and he reviewed what they had brought together.
- 29:54And he's like, yeah, we're not
- 29:55using any of this. Like they trash it. He's
- 29:57like, yeah, this sucks. Well,
- 29:58they talked about it a little bit in the behind
- 29:59the scenes about like you can't go for the obvious
- 30:02joke or the joke that's already been done. You
- 30:04have to like punch it up. Yeah,
- 30:06I like their approach with it. Like
- 30:07they're like, yeah, you get like they got like real
- 30:09deep in the way with how they were talking about how
- 30:11they approach. That's what that's probably why
- 30:13they didn't put too much work into the tag lines.
- 30:15They spent all their energy.
- 30:16Yeah, all these great jokes.
- 30:18Probably. Well, you got to also
- 30:19think this movie when we talked about earlier, the
- 30:21other movies or the other spoof movies not being very
- 30:23well written. This is actually very well
- 30:26written. Like there's a major story
- 30:29that's happening, which is lifted from screen. Yeah,
- 30:32but it's still cohesive and it's not just scenes of
- 30:35dumb shit after dumb shit. It
- 30:36all actually makes sense and works. I
- 30:39think that's literally what he is saying. He
- 30:40was like, not only do you have to do the jokes and
- 30:42it has to be funny, but you have to also have a
- 30:44story because you're you're doing a movie. You're
- 30:46telling a story. Yeah, right. Like
- 30:48I'd argue like it's pretty difficult to like spoof
- 30:52that movie without it just being blatant retreadings of
- 30:56exactly what you saw in that movie. And
- 30:58then also, yeah, like making it funny and making
- 31:00it fresh too. Like it's it takes a lot of
- 31:02work to do that. You have to be smart to do
- 31:05stupid humor. Yes. So the names of those
- 31:08movies before they merged, by the way, the Waynes
- 31:10Bros. were working on last summer. I
- 31:13screamed because Halloween fell on Friday the 13th.
- 31:15That's a lot. Yeah.
- 31:17And Friedberg and Seltzer's movie was called Scream. If
- 31:22you know what I did last Halloween. All
- 31:24right. So they just merged them
- 31:26together. And I like that they simplified
- 31:28it and just made it scary. I
- 31:29appreciate that. And then it also that also
- 31:31makes the sequels easier. Yeah,
- 31:33for sure. Yeah. Because you don't have to
- 31:35like make it whatever movie you're parodying this time.
- 31:38And then they kind of stole
- 31:40that bit when they did the other ones, like the epic
- 31:42movie, yeah, movie and yeah. Earlier
- 31:45script, the killer was actually going to reveal to
- 31:48be Damon Waynes. His motivation was going to be
- 31:51that his brothers left him out of the movie. So
- 31:53he wanted to be a part of it. That's
- 31:57why he did the Amistad 2 or whatever. Yeah,
- 32:01the reason that he didn't make it in this is because
- 32:03of scheduling conflicts. So they had to make it
- 32:05somebody completely different. So
- 32:07they had to rewrite it. But
- 32:08I would have liked that. I think that would have been
- 32:10really funny. Yeah, that would have been really
- 32:12funny. But we're in a good timeline
- 32:13because it gave us a doofy. Yeah.
- 32:15Well, and David Sheridan is so fucking hilarious. And
- 32:18he still leans into this character 24 years later.
- 32:22We've seen him at I think every
- 32:24convention we've ever been to. Seriously.
- 32:27Yeah. And Bragg, I was in a movie
- 32:29with him. Oh, like he's just we did so
- 32:33many like run throughs of the scene I was in. And
- 32:36he did something different every time. And
- 32:38of course, Melissa Rose is there and their best
- 32:40friends. And it was just so almost
- 32:44impossible to keep a straight face. But
- 32:46he loves pulling out that doofy character. He
- 32:48has so much fun with it. We
- 32:49have a signed picture from him that says I go poopy.
- 32:52It was good. It's
- 32:54like right above my head right now. I
- 32:56just remember our first time at Scarefests and we
- 32:59were waiting in line to see Felissa and he just
- 33:01like got out of his booth and came up to talk to us
- 33:03about dogs. Yeah. Yeah. He
- 33:05what was it? We had something that prompted
- 33:08him to want to talk about his dogs with us. I
- 33:11forget exactly what it was. I
- 33:13think he was talking about when he wears like when he
- 33:15put something on his dog goes crazy or something. I
- 33:18don't remember. But yeah, we did. I
- 33:20guess he's a hilarious guy and he's definitely one of
- 33:24those. Like he is fine with this being
- 33:26the thing that people know them for. And
- 33:27I always respect somebody that's like, yeah, you
- 33:30know, I did. He's got a huge filmography, but
- 33:33this is definitely the thing people know David
- 33:35Jared and for. And you know what, steer into
- 33:38it, man. Absolutely. That's what it's going to
- 33:39be. Fuck it. OK,
- 33:41so that's it for fun facts. So
- 33:43it's time for us to get into our good bad. I'll
- 33:46go in absurd. Let's start with the good Jesse.
- 33:49I mean, the Wayans brothers
- 33:51are just they're so fucking funny. And
- 33:53you can tell that they like like I said, smart,
- 33:56funny. I'm going to say about like 85
- 33:58percent of the jokes still land for me. And
- 34:01it's because they went with the simple formula. You
- 34:03know what's funny? Farts. Yeah. You
- 34:06know, it's funny. Boners like it's good. They
- 34:10play into the tropes. And I think generally it works
- 34:13really well the way they do it. And
- 34:17you can't ignore what a huge cultural impact this
- 34:21movie has had on everybody, because I mean, obviously,
- 34:25Scream is one of my favorite movies of all
- 34:26time. And there are still some times
- 34:29where like I get a little bit mixed up of like, oh,
- 34:31no, wait, that's actually scary. Maybe
- 34:33that's not screen like the drug dealing thing. I
- 34:35in my head, Sydney Prescott's dad does shady
- 34:38shit like he sells drugs. And
- 34:40I can't ever like remove that connection in my head.
- 34:44Her family's kind of tragic, so
- 34:46it would make sense. You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 34:49And like, you know, talking about ring, I always forget
- 34:52that that's her actual son because I'm so convinced
- 34:55it's her like adopted nephew from Scary Movie 3.
- 34:59Like you just can't ignore the
- 35:00cultural impact. Like I said, huge Dave Sheridan
- 35:03fan. I'm a huge Anna Faris fan.
- 35:05She's fucking hilarious. If
- 35:07you haven't seen the House Bunny, watch that. Oh,
- 35:10yeah, she's great. That script was written
- 35:12specifically for her. Oh, really? Yes.
- 35:15She she's just she's amazing. So,
- 35:18yeah, I just it's pretty much always a good time.
- 35:22So cool. Steve,
- 35:23what do you like about this one? I
- 35:25mean, where to start? Like the whole movie, like I
- 35:27said, is is geniusly written. It's
- 35:30actually oddly well acted to like Anna Faris. That's
- 35:35what I was going to say. Really
- 35:36good. Like she's terrible, but on
- 35:38purpose, right? Like all of the even Shannon
- 35:42Elizabeth in this, she's not a great actress to me
- 35:46in most of the things she does. But
- 35:48the scene where she's getting killed, she's doing
- 35:51good in it. She you know what I mean? Like
- 35:53I just I need to say real quick, I have so much love
- 35:57for the Wayans Brothers for killing her in a bathroom.
- 36:00Shannon Elizabeth must be in
- 36:02bathrooms. Yeah, three movies we've covered
- 36:05on this show and she's been in a bathroom. Well,
- 36:07you know, when you're good at dying in bathrooms, but
- 36:10I think she did a really good job in that scene
- 36:13where she sees Bobby getting killed and like
- 36:15everybody. Yeah, yeah. She's
- 36:17just screaming like, why don't anybody believe me?
- 36:20And then everyone's like, wow,
- 36:21this is really good. Yeah. He has so it's a great
- 36:24it's a great joke, too. But
- 36:26she's great in it. Like even I mean, everybody else
- 36:29is really good. Like I don't think there's a
- 36:32there's like a how would I say a bad person that
- 36:37takes you out of the movie, like that's acting.
- 36:39So bad that they're phoning it
- 36:41in or it's like even Sherry O 'Terry is killing
- 36:44it every second she's on screen. Obviously,
- 36:47again, SNL alumni being amazing over there and
- 36:50doing I mean, like the same shit here. It's
- 36:52still great. You know, I mean, and like
- 36:54Brenda Meeks is one of the best characters to go out
- 36:57of this franchise. I fucking love her so much.
- 37:00Brenda and Shorty. Yeah,
- 37:01I would watch anything with the two of them in it.
- 37:04Seen the yeah, the second movie
- 37:07she shines the best to me. But
- 37:09she's great in this, too, because I mean, she really
- 37:12doesn't have a lot to do in this movie. But
- 37:14when she's on screen, she's great. Yeah.
- 37:16Yeah. I pretty much echo what you
- 37:18guys said, too. I think another thing that I
- 37:21really enjoy about this movie is it still keeps
- 37:23like the horror aspects to it, too. Like
- 37:26it's fun horror movie to watch. They
- 37:28have like straight up slashing. I
- 37:31mean, it's repeating beats from Scream. And
- 37:34I know you did last summer, but I still enjoy
- 37:36watching it. And I like having that like
- 37:38funny little spin on the scenes, too. Like
- 37:40the giant popcorn. Yeah. Oh, my God, I love that.
- 37:45That's one of my favorite running
- 37:46jokes and all of the things. Like
- 37:47it reminded me of Scary Movie 3, where the hat
- 37:50keeps getting bigger. Yeah. Each time you look at it.
- 37:53Yeah. It's just I love absurd
- 37:55humor like that. And I like like I'm a fan of
- 37:59lowbrow humor, especially whenever it's done well.
- 38:01And like, I feel like these
- 38:02guys kill it with that type of stuff here. Well,
- 38:04let's look at the the entire first scene, the
- 38:07opening of the movie, which is exactly a rip off of
- 38:11Scream, right? The first screen. Yeah.
- 38:12But it's done so well that you wouldn't really know
- 38:16until they start making jokes that we're in a
- 38:19spoof movie. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like
- 38:23even Carmen Electra's a big get at this point, right?
- 38:26And they're making some very
- 38:28funny jokes at that point in like if you didn't know
- 38:31or, you know, you're watching this for the first
- 38:33time nowadays, you're not going to get when they're
- 38:36talking about like her boyfriend. Yeah.
- 38:38And they're talking about Dennis Rodman. And
- 38:40you're expecting to see Dennis Rodman on the chair,
- 38:42but it's Prince. Yeah. And there was a huge thing
- 38:45in the news about that. And
- 38:47then she's like, oh, I just fucked him a couple
- 38:48of times. You know, it is not my
- 38:50boyfriend. Like you're like, oh, my God.
- 38:51Yeah. It's fucking funny if you
- 38:53know the backstory. Obviously,
- 38:56most people are not going to get that nowadays, or
- 38:58they might not even have got it then. But
- 39:00if you look at the scene in screen and you look at
- 39:04that scene, same like scene, right? But
- 39:06they're doing it for laughs in a way that's a very
- 39:09smart and edgy type of way that I don't think you get
- 39:12in movies today. Yeah. I think it's interesting
- 39:16because they have like a mix of like timeless, like
- 39:19good comedy bits in this. And
- 39:20they also have some stuff that's like really dated.
- 39:23Yeah. You know what? It's
- 39:25it's the trio of them writing, right? All
- 39:27the Wayans brothers are making this. So
- 39:29I feel like you might have one guy who's doing all
- 39:33the smart ones, one guy who's doing all the dick
- 39:35and fart jokes, and one guy that's doing all the
- 39:36like, this might be funny, you know? Because
- 39:39let's look at Damon Wayans. Wait,
- 39:41he's Marlon Wayans. Yeah. Movies afterwards. He
- 39:44did what? A haunted house. He
- 39:45did the I can't remember the movie. He
- 39:48did like the White Shicks movie. Well,
- 39:50yeah. Well, which is he did with his
- 39:52brother, too. But I'm trying to figure out
- 39:54who was writing those. But after that, when he's kind
- 39:57of split away and it was just him, those movies are
- 40:00the more kind of movies where you're not getting
- 40:04the good written jokes, you're getting the easy
- 40:07lowbrow jokes. So I feel like that's probably
- 40:10him in this movie making all that. Interesting.
- 40:13Yeah. I guess it takes a team.
- 40:17Like, I guess, like, oh, they
- 40:18probably need to come together for it to actually
- 40:20be something special. I guess that's a good segue
- 40:23for us to go into our bad. So
- 40:24like, what is bad about this movie then? Jesse,
- 40:28you know, I do think sometimes like maybe having
- 40:31a little bit more of those peaks and valleys. You
- 40:34know, we say it all the time that like, that's what
- 40:36makes a good horror movie. And
- 40:38we also say all the time that that's what makes a
- 40:40good comedy. Yeah. Is knowing the timing and
- 40:42everything. And I feel like this is a
- 40:44movie that just kind of like keeps coming at you.
- 40:46Yeah, it does. It
- 40:47might have been nice to have a little bit more of
- 40:49that. I got a little bit of like
- 40:51time to breathe and have a joke after joke after joke.
- 40:54Yeah, I got you. She
- 40:56meant like this is a tough one to think of anything
- 40:57bad for. It's hard to criticize. Well,
- 41:01yeah, I mean, you can sit here and say, yeah, some
- 41:03of the jokes suck. Yeah. But when you're having a
- 41:06movie that has so many jokes, some of them are
- 41:10going to land right or hey, it landed then when
- 41:13the movie came out. But now you're kind of like,
- 41:15well, that doesn't really work that much anymore. Or
- 41:18it's not as funny or it's dated. You
- 41:19know, the was up joke, which is hilarious. I
- 41:22mean, it was a very specific point in time that
- 41:25if you weren't seeing those but but like or Budweiser
- 41:28Budweiser, you're not going to fucking know. But
- 41:31also it's funny, dude. I didn't know that that's
- 41:34what that was ripping off until Jesse told me a year
- 41:37ago. We went on a rabbit hole of
- 41:38watching all of the commercials that get great.
- 41:41And they're great. It
- 41:42made me appreciate that. Oh,
- 41:43they're smoking. But and it's like set up
- 41:46because that like the way they're like, I didn't even
- 41:48think about that. Calling each other. Yeah,
- 41:50it's like it's set up perfectly. It's
- 41:52great. Yeah, it's great. Kind
- 41:54of we're just talking about good stuff for this. Well,
- 41:57like think about it. What is really bad in this
- 41:59movie? What makes this movie like if
- 42:01someone watched it, they're like, oh, this sucks.
- 42:03Obviously, a certain kind of person
- 42:06needs to watch this. Right. I know if you're if you're
- 42:10a person who wants to see the best cinematic
- 42:12masterpieces and you don't like dick and fart jokes,
- 42:14you're going to think this is terrible. That's
- 42:16pretty much it. Yeah. Like, I mean, it's just
- 42:18kind of like a subjective thing. Like
- 42:19if this humor doesn't land for you, that's pretty much
- 42:22going to be if that's what we'll determine if it's
- 42:24bad. Like, yeah, nobody's expecting a
- 42:25high profile, like high quality set pieces and shit
- 42:28like that. Right. Yeah. But
- 42:30also, like, I don't want to know you if you're that
- 42:32person who doesn't like this movie. Yeah.
- 42:35Or, you know, dick and fart jokes. Come
- 42:36on. So good. Always
- 42:38good. OK. Ugly. What
- 42:41is ugly about this movie? I
- 42:42mean, I go with like the transphobic jokes. Yeah.
- 42:45Those. And I get that, like, it was
- 42:48seen as edgy back then, but it also wasn't funny.
- 42:51Then it's not funny now. It's
- 42:53not cool. I think the Miss Man stuff.
- 42:56Yeah. My brain blocks it out
- 42:58every single time. And every single time it
- 43:00happens, I'm like, fuck, I have to watch this again.
- 43:03Yeah. I mean, the only scene if
- 43:06I could have an edit of this where that's just cut
- 43:08out completely, take out the Miss Man scene and
- 43:11replace it with that cut scene of Shorty and that
- 43:14girl having sex with the guns like, let's do that.
- 43:18OK. OK. The
- 43:19only part that makes me laugh. And
- 43:21again, it's a it's a dick and fart joke. When
- 43:24she just opens their legs and the ball sack just
- 43:28falls out. I don't know. It's
- 43:29just the way it does it. It
- 43:30makes me chuckle a little bit, but I agree that it's
- 43:33not a good joke now. Yeah. Yeah. That's
- 43:36just what I still go. Oh, god. Like,
- 43:39here it comes, you know, but again. And
- 43:42again, it might be because I did see this with my
- 43:44mother in theaters and she's sitting beside me and
- 43:46I'm going, what the fuck is happening? See,
- 43:49and here's the thing. If I need my fill of dudes'
- 43:52balls falling out, I'm going to go watch Jackass,
- 43:54too. That's true. I'm
- 43:56going to watch Johnny Knopf with his prosthetic balls
- 43:59hanging out of his booty shorts. That's
- 44:00what I'm going to go do. And
- 44:02then that's also like that's just that's good
- 44:04dick humor. And there's no underlying other
- 44:07message. Take a drink. Yeah.
- 44:09A bunch of dudes getting shot in the balls with
- 44:12stuff. Dude, I hope I I would like to
- 44:14meet the person that finds the deeper meaning within
- 44:17Jackass. A bunch of dudes doing
- 44:20anything to be famous. Yeah.
- 44:22That's pretty much what it was. Meaning,
- 44:24yeah. Yeah. Pretty much. OK,
- 44:25I think we pretty easily covered the ugly. Yeah.
- 44:28Yeah. OK. All right. Absurd.
- 44:31Yeah. All right. What
- 44:33were absurd things about this movie? I
- 44:35mean, the whole movie is absurd. The
- 44:38thing that I had written down was the popcorn
- 44:39getting bigger at the beginning. OK,
- 44:41that was just like one of those funny visual jokes
- 44:44that just a glance for me. This
- 44:46is OK. So this, I guess, is really
- 44:48the absurd from the movie. It's
- 44:49spoofing, but I got so excited watching her throw
- 44:52the bicycle at the killer when she's on the stairs.
- 44:55I was like, it's going to
- 44:57screen to screen to like, because it is so stupid. I
- 44:59also like when she throws the piano down and he
- 45:01turns to run. I love that. So
- 45:03loony to me. Yeah. The physical acting like
- 45:06that is great. Yeah. Oh, yeah. That's
- 45:07Dave Sheridan doing that, too. Right?
- 45:09And he probably is the killer. Yeah.
- 45:11I wouldn't be surprised. He's
- 45:13that kind of guy. Yeah. Well, so let's break this
- 45:16down real quick. In the whole movie, the killer
- 45:18is him. It's doofy. It's
- 45:19not the other two guys because they just do that
- 45:22at the end. Like, oh, we're copying the guy
- 45:24who's already killing people like this. So
- 45:25if you want to break it down as a real movie,
- 45:28because this is a real movie, there's only one
- 45:30qualm I have and I forgot to mention it about the
- 45:33bad. It's not bad. It's
- 45:34just this movie is fucking stupid, so it shouldn't
- 45:36matter. If doofy was really mentally
- 45:39challenged and his mother knew that and had him, but
- 45:43he's not mentally challenged. How
- 45:45does that work? She would know he's not doofy.
- 45:49You know what? Yeah.
- 45:52Wait, what they know? It doesn't that sound like be
- 45:55like like a thing that develops later? So
- 45:58my. All right, he's not going to
- 46:00be born and be perfectly fine human being until one
- 46:03day he just starts being doofy, right? But
- 46:06also it's it's a movie that's stupid. Yeah.
- 46:10So it doesn't matter. And that's the joke. But
- 46:12that's that's me being a cinephile going, this
- 46:15doesn't work. Trying to find a deeper meaning.
- 46:18Right. Jackass. Exactly.
- 46:20Yeah. No, I yeah. That's
- 46:22just one of those things you just kind of have to
- 46:24like roll with it. Like it's like watching the
- 46:26song. It's like, how the fuck does
- 46:27this trap even happen? How does this even make sense?
- 46:30It's just a fucking movie.
- 46:31Here's the thing with this, too,
- 46:33is that I don't even necessarily see it is any
- 46:35kind of a mental challenge with him. I
- 46:37just see it as an over exaggerated spoof of. Do
- 46:40we do we? Yeah. Because do we in the first
- 46:43one, he's like young and naive. And
- 46:45how do you know that's not a person I put on so that
- 46:47way people like their guards down? Oh,
- 46:49you're oh, yeah. Well, that's the same thing where
- 46:52like the transphobic jokes don't work for me. But
- 46:54like Ray, like having all of these like the gay
- 46:58things, the gay moments. It's
- 47:00because in the original, like there is a homoerotic
- 47:03storyline between Billy and Stu. So
- 47:06that is picking on that trope and magnifying it.
- 47:10You know, right? And
- 47:11then when they have the yeah, when they have the
- 47:13thing at the end where they're just like, well, we
- 47:15went we had that nice day. He's
- 47:16like, yeah, I wanted to go shopping. Yeah,
- 47:18but but you did all that stuff. He's
- 47:20like, you suck. And it's it works because
- 47:23you're like, again, what you said, it is playing
- 47:26off of the other movie and it's being written smartly.
- 47:29It's not it's not a stupid ball
- 47:32gag joke. You know, look at that. It's
- 47:34not that it's literally him being like, you know, this
- 47:37dude's obviously yeah, like this. We
- 47:39want to be gay. There was this underlying
- 47:41storyline between Billy and Stu in the movie that
- 47:44we're spoofing and we're just going to be very
- 47:46obvious with it. And that's that's how I've
- 47:48always read the character of Doofy. Yeah,
- 47:50just being amplified, Doofy. You
- 47:53know, oh, yeah, that's exactly they saw Doofy and
- 47:55they're like, well, this dude's going to be mentally
- 47:57challenged when we make fun of him. I
- 48:00guess like the final absurd thing is like, I think
- 48:02it's kind of funny that what we're parodying here
- 48:05is mostly Kevin Williamson. Because
- 48:08there's what there's there's what the two main movies
- 48:12that he wrote. And then the character. Yeah,
- 48:15I mean, 100 percent. He wrote Scream 2 also. Yeah,
- 48:18and three will kind of will not. That
- 48:20was harsh feelings there. Yeah.
- 48:22Well, it's just funny. Like,
- 48:23I think that that's just like a way to show how
- 48:27much he owned the 90s. Slashers.
- 48:29Yeah. It's kind of crazy. And
- 48:32it really is when you think about it. Yeah,
- 48:34like he just did whatever he wanted. Yeah.
- 48:37I'm curious. How he did Halloween. It's
- 48:40true. Oh, yeah. I'm
- 48:42curious. I want to go look up and
- 48:44see what his reaction is to scary movie. I
- 48:47would love to see. There's no. What
- 48:48he thinks about it. You would have to think unless
- 48:51he's a very narcissistic. I can't say the word, say,
- 48:54narcissistic. Narcissistic. Thank you. Type
- 48:57of person. He's not going to be like, you
- 49:00know, this is awesome. And this is an ode to me,
- 49:02really. And this is great. But
- 49:04if he was, he'd be like, fuck these guys. This
- 49:07is not funny. OK, let's give it a rating out
- 49:10of 10. So, Jesse, what is your rating?
- 49:14875. 875. Wow.
- 49:168 .7. Steve. Let me think here. I
- 49:21do love this movie. This is the best of the scary
- 49:23movies. I love scary movie, too, just
- 49:25because it like is so different, but yet it's
- 49:28still kind of the same. Scary
- 49:29movie has a scary movie, too, has Tim Curry. So
- 49:34that's also David Cross and David Cross. And
- 49:38what was the big guy who played the ghost? He
- 49:40just recently died a little bit. He's
- 49:42been in a bunch of stuff. I
- 49:43forget his name, too. Doesn't
- 49:45matter. It's got a lot of going for
- 49:47it. Chris Elliott. Chris
- 49:48Elliott's in. Let me use my strong hand.
- 49:52It's it's great. But
- 49:54that one, I feel like is where they got goofy with
- 49:58it. Yeah. Right. Where
- 49:59this is, it still feels like a real movie. And
- 50:02it's not an over the top, just arse on things. So,
- 50:07oh, man, this is a hard one. Like
- 50:09I want to give it a super high score, but I have 7
- 50:12.5. OK, so that's that's good. But
- 50:15that's huge for me. Like that's a big, I know this
- 50:17type of movie. You take it very serious. I
- 50:19know that you take your ratings very seriously.
- 50:21We're very much like, oh, my
- 50:22God, I'm riding the high. I
- 50:23got feelings. This is this. That's
- 50:26why I'm I'm throwing a nine out there. OK.
- 50:28Yeah. I fucking love this movie,
- 50:30man. This movie, this type of like a
- 50:32movie really shaped my humor as a kid. Because
- 50:35I remember watching this and just like having a fun
- 50:38time. It was just so good. All
- 50:41right. Oh, yeah. We
- 50:41have a starting average. Slash.
- 50:42Yes. Sorry. What? We
- 50:44have a starting average of 8 .42. 8 .42. Wow.
- 50:47OK, that's really high. That's
- 50:48that's pretty good. So good, IMDB. OK.
- 50:52All right. So we ready to jump into
- 50:55this? I'd say so. OK.
- 50:57You start off out exterior shot of a house. Phone
- 51:01rings, a young blonde woman, a well known actress
- 51:05of the time. And it's a call from a rando.
- 51:10It's very much meeting the same
- 51:12beats as the original Scream. Like
- 51:14what's your name? I want to know who I'm
- 51:17looking at, except then we cut to he was looking at
- 51:20like a Playboy magazine. Yeah.
- 51:23I like how he was like, what's your favorite scary
- 51:25movie? And she's like, Kazam. That's
- 51:29a movie with Shaq right? She's
- 51:30like, have you seen Shaq Act? Which
- 51:32I want to see your insides. That
- 51:34feels kind of like a little nod to Randy. Me,
- 51:37because your favorite scary movie showgirls. Oh,
- 51:39yeah. Yeah. Oh, my God. Yeah.
- 51:43OK. Take a look at that. He
- 51:44tells her this is the same beats. This
- 51:45Scream like I got your boyfriend outside. She
- 51:48turns the lights on. It's Prince. Answers
- 51:51the door and she takes a bat to them. And
- 51:54it's a bunch of trick or treaters. OK,
- 51:56here's the thing, though. I hate to nitpick this, but
- 51:59the parents would be there because she's out in the
- 52:01middle of Bumfuck, Nowhere. Like,
- 52:03I know, yeah. That's you drive to the house's
- 52:06type of situation. Not like you can go free in
- 52:09the neighborhood unless they dropped them off at the
- 52:12end of their driveway and they walked down. That's
- 52:15true. Yeah. Yeah, put in logic out
- 52:18there. But since the killer has broken
- 52:20into the back door of the house, she needs to get a
- 52:23weapon and she's got a choice between various guns
- 52:26and knives and making the smart choice. If
- 52:29you ask me, she picks up the banana. It's
- 52:32like Mario Kart. She right there. Yeah,
- 52:34exactly. That's that's what I'm saying. She
- 52:36just played a lot of Mario Kart. She
- 52:37was like this is and she's also seen Scream and knows
- 52:41Ghostface is going to Ghostface, which means
- 52:44Ghostface is going to fall down. You
- 52:46fall down a lot in this movie. Yeah,
- 52:49I think honestly, probably less than Scream. I
- 52:51think you're right. I think they did it one time
- 52:53to like make it known like, OK, like here's the
- 52:56thing. This is what happens with
- 52:57Ghostface all the time. And I love it. Like
- 52:59as she's going through, like she's got signs,
- 53:02safety, death, and she runs towards death. She
- 53:04trips and falls into a chalk outline. She
- 53:07runs through the sprinklers. Ghostface
- 53:10comes up behind her and stabs her in the chest but
- 53:12gets her implant so she keeps writing. She
- 53:14sees her dad's car and she's like, Daddy. And
- 53:19Dad's otherwise distracted. He's
- 53:22getting some broken head. What
- 53:25was that? Nothing. Just like a runzer over.
- 53:29Yeah, which I can't believe they
- 53:30got away with doing that joke twice in the same
- 53:32movie. Holy shit, they did, didn't
- 53:34they? Yeah. Wait, no, they didn't.
- 53:36Bokens doesn't that not know they
- 53:37do it in this one because that's their whole I know
- 53:40what you did last summer. But
- 53:41when they hit, yeah, when they hit David Keegan,
- 53:44you're right. Yeah. OK. And
- 53:47yeah, she's dead. They kill her there. I
- 53:50can't remember. Do they actually he doesn't
- 53:52like do the whole string interrupt thing like they
- 53:53do in screen? No, I didn't know. OK.
- 53:56All right. So now we cut over to Cindy
- 53:57in her bedroom. She's over there on her computer
- 54:00and then we get Bobby breaking in. He's
- 54:02going full Billy. Yeah. Her dad comes in. He's
- 54:05kind of giving us the whole rundown of his
- 54:07sketchy path. So I think it's also good for
- 54:10us to point out like the other horror movies that
- 54:13these people are involved in that we have so much
- 54:15fun with and Bobby's actor. We
- 54:19know him on this show from House of Blacks. He
- 54:21is the friend of the brother, Chad Michael
- 54:26Murray's brother, Chad Michael Murray's friend, who
- 54:28is wearing five shirts and doesn't give his sister a
- 54:32single shirt. So Chad Michael Murray has to
- 54:35give his only shirt to her. Was
- 54:37any in something else to meet the parents? Oh,
- 54:40that's right. Yeah. OK, so. Oh,
- 54:43yeah. He's Danny. He's
- 54:44the hot head. I'm down with little Kim. He's
- 54:48fat. P .H. I
- 54:50love how in the scene, he is straight up reading
- 54:53Billy's line about he was watching the exorcist and
- 54:57it got him horny. And it's like they didn't even
- 54:58need to exaggerate that line. Like
- 55:00just saying that's like this is fucking ridiculous.
- 55:02This guy watched the exorcist
- 55:04and got horny. I mean, that's really like
- 55:06what happened with Billy. Yeah,
- 55:08it's exactly what happened. So
- 55:10yeah, they're just like hitting the same piece of
- 55:12the dad comes in there. He's
- 55:13leaving for the weekend. Warns
- 55:14and the cops come to his drugs. Yeah,
- 55:17all that shit. Remember, remember if anybody comes
- 55:21to buy you cut it with baking soda, baking powder,
- 55:26they'll have muffins coming out of their nose. They
- 55:29and then whenever Billy, what the fuck is his name?
- 55:32And then Bobby. OK,
- 55:33whenever it's so I'm going to get mixed up. She
- 55:35does. Well, you settle for PG 13 and
- 55:37does like the flashing thing. It's
- 55:38made boobs. That did you find out who's
- 55:40tummy that was? No, I asked you to look that
- 55:43up specifically. No, I I looked around. What
- 55:45if it's her dad? Oh my God, dude, that would
- 55:48be nasty. I love that because I
- 55:51threaten all the time to Travis that there's like
- 55:54this one piece swimsuit and it's like a man's Harry
- 55:56belly. And I thought I'd seen those.
- 55:59You do it. Do
- 56:00it. Encourage it. Do
- 56:03it. Don't please do not. How
- 56:05funny would it be if you just go into the public
- 56:07pool? Right. But no one, you know,
- 56:09you're wrapped up a little bit and you just you just
- 56:11go in the pool with that. People
- 56:13are going to give you a lot of double takes. Yeah,
- 56:16yeah. It's hilarious because there's
- 56:19there's going to be those couple dudes that are like,
- 56:21fuck, yeah, that's great. And
- 56:22then there's those old people like what's going on
- 56:24here? I get the old gladus. So
- 56:26let's get out. I have pink hair. I
- 56:28get old men staring at me all the time. Oh,
- 56:31I bet my wife just put a pink. She
- 56:33used to have the like the money pieces or whatever.
- 56:36And she had a blonde and now
- 56:37she's got a pink. So yeah, she's getting the
- 56:39same. Yeah. You young kids out here
- 56:42with your fucking hair. Yeah.
- 56:44Yeah. I like how whenever she asked
- 56:47why he's there, he's like, oh, I just wanted my
- 56:49balls. I just wanted my balls. I
- 56:52just like the. He's so matter of fact about
- 56:55it. Yeah. I loved it. It
- 56:56made me like die laugh. And
- 56:57whenever we were watching that, they started to try
- 57:00and have sex where he does. They're
- 57:02kissing. He goes for the pants, but
- 57:04there's an electric fence there. Yeah.
- 57:07And then that's when she flashes her man boobs to.
- 57:10So now we get Shorty and
- 57:11Brenda. They're doing your mother jokes to
- 57:14each other. She has to remind them that
- 57:17they have the same mom. And
- 57:18he's like, your father. Yeah,
- 57:19Brenda meets up with Cindy and then Buffy's coming to
- 57:24walk with them. And Brenda's like, I just can't
- 57:28stand her. She's so fake. I'm
- 57:29going to show her. So she goes, hey, yeah,
- 57:31because that's so it's so real. Like
- 57:34you're like, I can't fucking stand this guy.
- 57:35What's up? Also
- 57:38bad timing on this right here, but they she's
- 57:41talking about how she saw her at a puff daddy party.
- 57:44Yeah, we we last night or the
- 57:47night before when we were watching this really. Yeah,
- 57:49it's like, oh, no, it's not going to be good.
- 57:52Getting ditty. So
- 57:53she did because she was with a background dancer.
- 57:57She doesn't have any self
- 57:59respect. That's what it was. You're
- 58:01right. I also love how in the
- 58:03background in the parking lot, you can see the
- 58:04corners already. They're just like, yeah. OK,
- 58:08now we get Gail Hellstorm. She's
- 58:10doing the news. There's a kid that keeps trying to
- 58:12interrupt the set, but she takes out a gun, shoots
- 58:14him. Brenda's like only the most ignorant
- 58:17people get interviewed, cut to shorty. Go
- 58:19on. Run, bitch. Run.
- 58:22I love the bit of all the news stations. And
- 58:24then it gets to it's like Black TV, white folks are
- 58:27dead. We get out of here just like
- 58:28a driver. White people are dead. We
- 58:30get the fuck out of here. Hilarious.
- 58:33And nobody's going to call this white on white crime.
- 58:36No, some because black on black
- 58:38crime doesn't exist. It's bullshit. It's
- 58:40a scaremongering term. Well, the sherry o' terry part
- 58:43when she's just like one person's dead and that
- 58:46guy's behind her like turns around just shooting two
- 58:49people are dead. Yeah. Funny. So
- 58:52I think I got released and by the phone at this
- 58:54point. So it's been two days since
- 58:55we watched it. Yeah. So Greg is failing. He's
- 59:00stupid. It just says dumbass on his
- 59:02report card. And then look, you got an A.
- 59:07Ray is like tying up his tank
- 59:10top. Bobby is in the trailer. I
- 59:13like how the trailers like parked right out front. And
- 59:16he's always late to class. So
- 59:18this is where they're at the Water Fountain. They're
- 59:20talking about how they killed that guy one year
- 59:23ago. So this is where we get the
- 59:24flash. Yeah, we get a flashback and
- 59:26it's very similar to the scene. And
- 59:27I know what you did last summer, except we got the
- 59:30two couples in the back that are drunk and being
- 59:32obnoxious. And Bobby is trying to coerce
- 59:36Cindy into giving him like touching it. Yeah,
- 59:40just touch it. Yeah, just touch. And
- 59:44Greg does a really good impression of how fucking
- 59:47obnoxious Ryan Philippi's character is. And
- 59:49we watched. I know what you did last
- 59:51summer right after this. And
- 59:53it's like, man, he really is a fucking asshole. The
- 59:56dude is so fucking aggressive. And
- 59:58it's so over the top in this movie, but it's still
- 1:00:01pretty much matches that energy. Yeah.
- 1:00:04So yeah, basically because of all of that, they end
- 1:00:07up hitting a guy and they're like arguing about
- 1:00:11what to do. And he's it's it feels very
- 1:00:13Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Like
- 1:00:15I'm not dead yet. I'm fine. Don't
- 1:00:18worry about it. Yeah. What are we going to do
- 1:00:20with the body? It's OK. Nothing
- 1:00:22I'm alive. And then they just throw the
- 1:00:24fucking bottle and get some right now. So
- 1:00:27shorty drives by. Yeah, they have to distract.
- 1:00:31Yeah, he's the Bobby Galecki in
- 1:00:32the scene. I love how he's just like
- 1:00:36laughing at them the entire time he rolls up and it's
- 1:00:38just like piles of smoke just pouring out of the
- 1:00:40car. And then I cut back and
- 1:00:42they're like, this all feels like something out of
- 1:00:44the movie anyway. And she goes, yeah, I'd
- 1:00:45probably be this is so misogynistic. So
- 1:00:48like, I probably be played by like Jennifer Love, huge
- 1:00:51kids or something. It's funny, though. OK,
- 1:00:54so they take the body to the pier. They
- 1:00:57dump him over the edge and they all make a pact that
- 1:00:59they're never going to talk about it again. And
- 1:01:01I remember she's like, talk about what again? He's
- 1:01:04like the body. She's like, well, you just
- 1:01:06fucking mentioned it, Greg. That's
- 1:01:10not the real money needed to go. I
- 1:01:12know. Yeah. So do he meets with Gail?
- 1:01:16She's trying to take advantage of
- 1:01:19him. He is this many years old, 25
- 1:01:21and a half. I think he actually does like
- 1:01:23a good hand signal of 25. She
- 1:01:26invites him to the van to go and try and to do some
- 1:01:28to try and get some more information. Then
- 1:01:32we cut to a teacher talking about how they need
- 1:01:34to let prayer in school. And
- 1:01:37it turns out she's breastfeeding her baby. That
- 1:01:39was fathered by one of the students. So
- 1:01:41I like that little bit of commentary. That's
- 1:01:44pretty like, I see you after class. You're
- 1:01:47like, hi, I'm like, yeah. I
- 1:01:49like Cindy gets a note. I know what you did last
- 1:01:52Halloween. And then she thinks about like
- 1:01:53a date she had with Bob. Like
- 1:01:57under the tree, having a good time. And
- 1:01:59then she's got a second note under that. No,
- 1:02:02bitch. I'm not talking about that
- 1:02:04date. So she's called to the
- 1:02:06principal's office. This is another reference that I
- 1:02:11feel like a lot of people will miss. I
- 1:02:13didn't realize until I was reading about this. But
- 1:02:15the principal is Quigley. Squiggly,
- 1:02:19yeah, which he so in scream, it was played by.
- 1:02:24Fuck, what's his name? Fonz,
- 1:02:26Harry Henry, Henry, yeah, who Henry was a greaser
- 1:02:30from Happy Days. Yeah, the phone. This
- 1:02:33one right here, they got the greaser from Wavern and
- 1:02:35Shirley playing the. Oh, that's fun. Yeah,
- 1:02:38that's cute. They call Dewey in. He
- 1:02:41goes poopy. It was good. It
- 1:02:43was good. He pulled a real Trump. Yeah.
- 1:02:49So the cops ask her about Drew and yeah, they're just
- 1:02:52like questioning about that. This
- 1:02:53this cop right here, I love his scenes where he's
- 1:02:55just like really weirdly like sincere, but also like
- 1:02:58inappropriate. Yeah, he's one of those that
- 1:03:00like he does the camp playing it straight. Yeah,
- 1:03:03way and it works well because there's so much
- 1:03:06over the top in this. His like his energy is like
- 1:03:09perfect. Yeah, well, the scene where he
- 1:03:12like sits Cindy down was like, hey, I want you to
- 1:03:14look at these and they're the pictures of him in
- 1:03:17like a bathing in the bathing suit. Just
- 1:03:19like how about this one? And
- 1:03:21it's just like him just doing more poses. He's
- 1:03:22like, OK, but the best part is the whole scene is
- 1:03:25played straight. Like no one's reacting to the
- 1:03:28fact that these are too like that. It's
- 1:03:32fucking ridiculous, but it's hilarious. And
- 1:03:34then no, none. OK, how about this one? One
- 1:03:36more time. What do you think? No,
- 1:03:38no. OK, that's fine. I
- 1:03:39just wanted to check. It's great. What
- 1:03:40makes this movie so good? Just
- 1:03:42like show like that. Yeah, exactly. OK,
- 1:03:45so Ray is hyped to get all the boys in the
- 1:03:47shower. I love the scene of him
- 1:03:48where he's just like, all right, I'm going to get
- 1:03:49you. I'm going to get you. Like
- 1:03:50Chase is the model and he takes a towel. It's
- 1:03:53so funny. Bobby's going to stay behind
- 1:03:55though. He's got to go hit the back.
- 1:03:56Greg, Greg staying behind. But
- 1:03:58I get them all fucking confused. Greg,
- 1:04:00he doesn't want to go into the showers because why?
- 1:04:03He's got a baby. Dig.
- 1:04:04It's a disease, you know. Go
- 1:04:05to Harry, baby, dog, dick. He's
- 1:04:08terrible. He's terrible. See,
- 1:04:10have you ever seen Dude Brody, Masquerad3? I've
- 1:04:13seen the the like the cover of it. Oh,
- 1:04:17did you actually see it? You
- 1:04:18got to watch it. It's I think you I think you
- 1:04:21didn't. It's another like slasher parody
- 1:04:23movie kind of like this right here. Yeah.
- 1:04:25OK, I do love a good shitty. It's
- 1:04:28made by the terrible. Awesome
- 1:04:29movie that does five second films. Yeah,
- 1:04:32there. It's fucking funny. OK,
- 1:04:35so yeah, Greg, he stays behind his back for a
- 1:04:37little bit. Then he gets back to his locker
- 1:04:38and realizes that there is a Polaroid there. He
- 1:04:41pulls it out in the picture of his baby dick.
- 1:04:45So he takes it. Who
- 1:04:46did this? He takes it back to the group
- 1:04:50and shows it. And then like they are all
- 1:04:52kind of laughing at it. And
- 1:04:53then Cindy says, I got one too. And
- 1:04:55he goes, you have a baby. I
- 1:04:57mean, Bobby's got a baby. Oh,
- 1:04:59Bobby's got a baby. They all just like look at
- 1:05:01Bobby and he's just like, I do like how he's painted
- 1:05:05as this really dumb person. And
- 1:05:06what does he do is he goes, everybody have seen
- 1:05:09this? Yeah. And he just brings him a
- 1:05:11picture of his dick that he's trying to hide to
- 1:05:13everybody. Yeah, I didn't even think about
- 1:05:15that. OK, so now they are at the
- 1:05:18Miss Teen Beauty pageant. This
- 1:05:21is one of my favorite scenes. So
- 1:05:22like they're all over there. They're
- 1:05:24introducing the people and then they introduce Buffy.
- 1:05:27And then Greg is up there.
- 1:05:28He's like, that's my girlfriend.
- 1:05:29And then there's a bunch of
- 1:05:30people. It's like, yeah, I'm hitting
- 1:05:31that too. Like, yeah, I'm hitting that too.
- 1:05:34Like everybody's just like doing
- 1:05:35this. Getting so pissed off at the
- 1:05:37crowd. Her scene is going to be
- 1:05:40acting. That's her. Yeah,
- 1:05:41that's her. That's her talent. Her
- 1:05:42talent. Yeah. So she starts to do her
- 1:05:45talent through art. I shall serve my country.
- 1:05:48God, she's she fucking killed
- 1:05:50that line. And I know you did last summer
- 1:05:52when she said that Sarah. Michelle
- 1:05:54Geller is the goat. Yeah, should have been world
- 1:05:58peace, as we all know. Well,
- 1:06:00she wasn't going for Miss. She
- 1:06:01should have been. Well, yeah, she's going for Miss
- 1:06:04Crocker. Oh, yeah, Miss Crocker. Yeah.
- 1:06:07Did anybody else notice the different names on the
- 1:06:09sashes of all the other contestants? Only
- 1:06:12one I caught was Miss Felicia. Oh,
- 1:06:14really? There's Miss Felicia. There
- 1:06:15was Miss Congeniality. There was like there was two
- 1:06:18others that I laughed at. I
- 1:06:19can't remember them off the top of my head, but I was
- 1:06:21just like, that's great. That's
- 1:06:22funny. What? Why not? Yeah.
- 1:06:24So she's over there. She's about to start her scene.
- 1:06:27And then she looks up and sees
- 1:06:28Greg is getting murdered. So
- 1:06:31she starts to actually react to it. But
- 1:06:32everybody else is thinking that she's actually doing
- 1:06:35her acting. And they all think it's
- 1:06:37amazing. Yeah. So she runs to go try and
- 1:06:39save Greg. And they're like, Buffy, you
- 1:06:41won. And she's like, I won. She
- 1:06:43goes out there and the song that they're singing
- 1:06:46to is super inappropriate. And
- 1:06:47I love this because for the rest of the movie
- 1:06:49while she's around, she's got the crown on like she
- 1:06:52goes to sleep with the crown on. Oh,
- 1:06:54really? I didn't even pay attention
- 1:06:55to that. Well, the rest of the movie
- 1:06:57beyond her getting murdered, she's wearing. Yeah.
- 1:07:00Also, like in the background, like when
- 1:07:01they're just kind of talking after the fact, you
- 1:07:03can see Ghost Faces just back there. Cleaning
- 1:07:05up. Yeah. It kind of reminded me of
- 1:07:07that scene of like from Scream, where it's West
- 1:07:10Craven back there and his Freddy outfit mopping up.
- 1:07:13Yeah. Cindy gets a call from
- 1:07:15Bobby. She's shaving, shaving her leg,
- 1:07:18shaving her armpit, shaving her tongue. Forgot
- 1:07:22about that. And then after she hangs up,
- 1:07:24she gets in. I know what you did last
- 1:07:26time, a ween call. And so, of course, she runs to
- 1:07:28the door and we get like a fourth wall break because
- 1:07:30she the door is locked and the camera like bumps into
- 1:07:33her. And then she she sees feet
- 1:07:36behind the couch and she's like, well, you're just the
- 1:07:40ghost. This is like, let me ask you a
- 1:07:42question. Where am I? And
- 1:07:44she goes, well, you're you're behind the couch. I
- 1:07:46guess, OK, turn, turn around, turn around. And
- 1:07:49then he goes and hides behind the curtain. And
- 1:07:51of course, that makes her that ends up leading to a
- 1:07:54chase up the stairs where she throws a bike and old
- 1:07:58woman a piano. It's so good. I
- 1:08:02love it. And then she makes it up to
- 1:08:04her bedroom and she gets to the computer and she
- 1:08:06does the 911 types of white woman in danger. And
- 1:08:08then like all of a sudden it cuts to like police
- 1:08:10sirens just like flood in the house. Bobby
- 1:08:12climbs into the room and he's got a phone that
- 1:08:16drops out of his pocket. But
- 1:08:17he's also got a knife and gloves. Paraglums.
- 1:08:20Yeah. I love how they're like
- 1:08:21really like this like so many red flags right here.
- 1:08:25That's how it was in scream to
- 1:08:26like you should have known this shit. So
- 1:08:28we cut to the station and this is where they're like,
- 1:08:31you know, talking about everything that happened and
- 1:08:34he shows her the the sheriff shows her the
- 1:08:37photos and everything and Buffy comes in and she's
- 1:08:40like, are you OK? We're going home and if you
- 1:08:42think, did mom do it OK? And
- 1:08:44she goes, yeah, she's staying with us tonight.
- 1:08:46Doofus. Everybody here is then says
- 1:08:49something about how he puts his dick in the back. Oh,
- 1:08:52yeah. That's one of my favorite bits.
- 1:08:56And then I love I love this
- 1:08:58scene where Gail is yelling at Kenny and she's like,
- 1:09:02what did I tell you about? Why
- 1:09:04you shouldn't step on my feet? Because
- 1:09:05Gail wears Prada shoes. Then
- 1:09:10we get the West. Yeah, this is so iconic, man. I
- 1:09:14love it. One of my favorite things about
- 1:09:16this is how they actually change the mask. Yeah.
- 1:09:19Just like matches emotion. It's
- 1:09:20so fucking good. And I was I was a weird
- 1:09:23child. I was obsessed with all of
- 1:09:25the Budweiser commercials growing up. Really?
- 1:09:27I was so I was the frogs that the why. I
- 1:09:31actually like stole one of my parents' shirts. What's
- 1:09:36your shirt? Yeah, seriously. It
- 1:09:38was a Petroma shirt. I was obsessed with these
- 1:09:42commercials. It was weird. Their
- 1:09:44marketing team. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:09:47I mean, Budweiser knew what it was doing back in the
- 1:09:50day. They really cleaned up on on
- 1:09:52their commercials. OK, so now Cindy is staying
- 1:09:57over at Buffy's house. They're
- 1:09:58in her room talking. Doofy comes in to check on him
- 1:10:01and reveals. Doofy. That's what I said, right?
- 1:10:04You said do we? God
- 1:10:06damn it. OK, Doofy comes in to check on
- 1:10:10them and he reveals that he knows about the person
- 1:10:13that they killed. Yeah, he's like, I'm sure it's
- 1:10:14that guy you killed. And Cindy is like, what? How
- 1:10:19does he know? And Buffy's like, he overheard.
- 1:10:21It's fine. He's
- 1:10:21not going to tell anybody. So
- 1:10:23he goes to his room and then what do you know?
- 1:10:27Cindy gets a call. It's
- 1:10:28the killer. They cut it off prematurely. She
- 1:10:31like the mom comes in, she gets concerned and goes to
- 1:10:33run to get Doofy. And then Doofy, like you can
- 1:10:36hear him on the phone. He's
- 1:10:37like, no, it's not me. And he like closes. He
- 1:10:39hangs up the phone and then he runs out of the
- 1:10:41room with the vacuum on his dick. Yeah,
- 1:10:44it's just like I love that shot of him just like
- 1:10:47walking in like trying to check on him. He's
- 1:10:49got the vacuum cleaner there. So
- 1:10:50at school the next day, Ray does the stew talk
- 1:10:53with Cindy. That's how I made the note. Like,
- 1:10:55no, he's not mad. He's heartbroken. You
- 1:10:58branded him the candy man. And
- 1:11:00shorty references scream directly, like like says
- 1:11:04scream. Oh, yeah, he's like, no, they
- 1:11:05did this shit and scream. It's
- 1:11:07so in the behind the scenes, he was just he was
- 1:11:10like, no, I love scream and it's not just because
- 1:11:14Mira Max is telling me that I have to say that.
- 1:11:18But they were like, OK, so
- 1:11:19scream comes out and scream to comes out. And
- 1:11:22then I know what you do last summer comes out. And
- 1:11:24we're like, all right, we got to do this. Bobby
- 1:11:26is there at school. You got bailed out. Cindy
- 1:11:29is kind of questioning if he was actually the killer
- 1:11:32or not. And then they kind of he I
- 1:11:35can't remember. Does he do the same thing that
- 1:11:37Billy did where he's like, yeah, your dad died a long
- 1:11:40time ago. You need to just get over it.
- 1:11:41They I forget exactly how this
- 1:11:43conversation goes, but it does end with her saying
- 1:11:45like, sorry, that my mess up life is an inconvenience
- 1:11:48to your perfect existence. And
- 1:11:49then she does the Sydney run. Somebody
- 1:11:52did a side by side of these scenes. And
- 1:11:55it really is how Nav Campbell runs in the baby.
- 1:11:58And I love it. That's
- 1:11:59even better. Yeah, all attention to the thing
- 1:12:02that was already weird and bizarre from that one.
- 1:12:04Yeah. And I think it works too,
- 1:12:06because like think about it and scream. Scream
- 1:12:08is a satire, but it's also very much meant to be a
- 1:12:11horror movie. And so I think because you
- 1:12:13have this tense dramatic moment and like you're
- 1:12:16feeling all of the emotions that are happening in that
- 1:12:19scene. So when she runs off, you're
- 1:12:20just like, yeah, I don't blame her for running off.
- 1:12:22But then when you take that
- 1:12:24and put it into this movie and everything is comedic
- 1:12:27and magnified and you see her run off, you're like,
- 1:12:29haha, she looks and then when you put them side to
- 1:12:31side, you're like, oh, shit. I
- 1:12:33need to we need to watch that again after this. It's
- 1:12:36like, I need to see the similarities of that. It's
- 1:12:38pretty great. OK, so now we get the scene
- 1:12:41with Miss Man. We won't have to go too far
- 1:12:44into detail with this one right here, but she's
- 1:12:46lecturing the girls in the locker room. Well,
- 1:12:48because Buffy's bullying Cindy. She's
- 1:12:50she really is a fake friend. Yeah.
- 1:12:54Buffy stays behind in the locker room because she's
- 1:12:57Shannon Elizabeth and Shannon Elizabeth has to
- 1:12:59wander around a bathroom. Yeah.
- 1:13:01Yeah. This is like in the most
- 1:13:03technical sense of bathroom. But
- 1:13:05we'll allow it because, I mean, there's like showers
- 1:13:07and like an actual. Yeah, locker rooms all have
- 1:13:11toilets. Yeah, pretty much. Showers.
- 1:13:13Yeah. Key, we know Shannon Elizabeth
- 1:13:16doesn't go to the bathroom for the toilet. She
- 1:13:18goes for the shower anyway. That's
- 1:13:19true. We're the bath. Yeah,
- 1:13:21you're right. You're right. You're
- 1:13:22right. So she's basically doing the
- 1:13:24the Tatum thing here where like the killer comes out.
- 1:13:27She's like, oh, are you going to
- 1:13:27get me? Am I in a scary movie? I
- 1:13:29want to be in the sequel. And
- 1:13:31she like keeps doing that to the whole point. Like
- 1:13:34he keeps like just stabbing her repeatedly and she like
- 1:13:37there's this stuff. She's like, oh, is this the part
- 1:13:39where I'm supposed to like trip and break my legs? So
- 1:13:41she like throws herself down on the ground and
- 1:13:42just like throws her leg. How
- 1:13:43to suck it. Yeah. Talking about Chris Ramsay
- 1:13:46breaking his leg and spiral. This
- 1:13:48is. Oh, yeah. It's
- 1:13:50pretty. He just ends up throwing her
- 1:13:51head in the lost or found bin. OK,
- 1:13:54so we cut outside. There's the guy he's threatening to
- 1:13:58jump. Everybody's trying to call him down,
- 1:14:00but this is where Cindy goes out and does the
- 1:14:03Jennifer Love you. I know what you did. That's
- 1:14:05what you were waiting for. Except
- 1:14:08there's a man on. So he just like jumps and
- 1:14:12just falls right in front of him. Yeah,
- 1:14:15it's so great. So Ray and Brenda are making
- 1:14:19out and she's wearing his football jersey and that it
- 1:14:23turns out to him having her completely dressed up
- 1:14:26in his all his gear, shoulder pads and helmet
- 1:14:29and everything. Yeah, yeah. So
- 1:14:34Gail goes to lovers look out and she interviews
- 1:14:37alone, Tina Carter, and she's like, how's it
- 1:14:39occurred to you that your boyfriend is dead and
- 1:14:42you're likely going to be killed next? And
- 1:14:44she's like, well, he's been missing for about 15
- 1:14:46minutes now. I'm going to go check a sound.
- 1:14:48So I don't know where he is.
- 1:14:49She's like, yeah, you're going to
- 1:14:51be good. She's like, oh, really? Me?
- 1:14:53And then then that's when it comes up and like
- 1:14:55starts to stab her and he gets frustrated with Gail
- 1:14:58there because, you know, he's trying to do his job.
- 1:15:00He's like, just let me do my
- 1:15:01fucking job. So Gail and Kenny run and
- 1:15:05that's where we get the Blair Witch. And
- 1:15:07oh, yeah, where she runs off. Yeah.
- 1:15:09So much not coming out of her face. It's
- 1:15:11so nasty. All of that. Now
- 1:15:15we got to rain Brenda and a movie, Shake a Spear and
- 1:15:18Love. Oh, yeah, Shake a Spear. Yeah.
- 1:15:22I don't know why that killed me every single time
- 1:15:25she says, Shake a Spear. I think it's kind of crazy.
- 1:15:28I always forget that this
- 1:15:29movie also covers screams two and three. Just
- 1:15:32scream two, right? And they do three at the end
- 1:15:35with Shorty, where he's doing the post video. Oh,
- 1:15:41yeah. Yeah, we're like, he's like
- 1:15:42reading off the rules or whatever. Oh,
- 1:15:44shit. I guess we kind of does read
- 1:15:45off the rules in the end, doesn't he? So,
- 1:15:47yeah, basically this is. It's
- 1:15:50kind of a riff on the opening for scream two.
- 1:15:54Yeah. Brenda is a super obnoxious
- 1:15:56movie goer, which I still maintain everybody else in
- 1:16:00the theater is being obnoxious. I
- 1:16:01don't think Maureen was that obnoxious. Oh,
- 1:16:04in the screen to scream to. Yeah.
- 1:16:06Everything like because everybody else is being
- 1:16:08loud and obnoxious. And just because she wasn't
- 1:16:10having a good time doesn't mean she is any more
- 1:16:11obnoxious than anyone else. I
- 1:16:13guess it's like a party pooper type thing. Like
- 1:16:15she was. Yeah, she was being like as loud
- 1:16:17as everybody else. But everybody else was like
- 1:16:18having a good time and she was raining on the parade
- 1:16:21type deal. Brenda, though, she's like straight
- 1:16:23up recording the movie. She's
- 1:16:24like yelling about how stupid everything is and
- 1:16:26everybody's. She takes a phone call. Yeah,
- 1:16:28it takes a phone call. Ray,
- 1:16:30he's in the bathroom. It's just like a glory hole
- 1:16:32instead of getting stabbed in the head. He
- 1:16:34gets a. Yeah. A pee pee through the
- 1:16:35head. Yeah. So. Ghostface
- 1:16:38comes back, sits next to Brenda. He
- 1:16:41starts stabbing and then she gets up and everybody
- 1:16:43else. No, he's about to stab her and
- 1:16:46then everybody gets so fed up that they take the
- 1:16:48knife from him and then start stabbing her. So
- 1:16:51she gets up and walks down the aisle and everybody
- 1:16:53gets up and starts stabbing and attacking her. All
- 1:16:54the other movies that she's ruined. Yeah,
- 1:16:59I forgot about that. I love the idea that she's
- 1:17:01just like a serial movie spoiler. I
- 1:17:04love that Brenda just comes back in every single movie,
- 1:17:07despite. Even though she dies. Yeah,
- 1:17:08despite that. She just keeps coming back.
- 1:17:12Yeah. And they have a they have
- 1:17:13a whole funeral for her in the third one. Oh,
- 1:17:16yeah. That's right. OK,
- 1:17:18so now we're at the house party at Cindy's house. I
- 1:17:20forgot really. Out of control. She
- 1:17:22is so stressed in it. It gives me a combination of
- 1:17:26mean girls where Katie is having to stop them from
- 1:17:29throwing the fertility base around and also seeking of
- 1:17:35Darren Aronofsky. You get like mother. Oh,
- 1:17:38yeah. And that like that one was
- 1:17:40just so stressful because people just kept coming in.
- 1:17:42Yeah, except this time a baby
- 1:17:43doesn't die. So I think we're OK. Darren
- 1:17:46Aronofsky, man. That's another one that like we
- 1:17:49watched it when it first came out and it's still
- 1:17:51like regularly pops up in my brain. Yeah,
- 1:17:54that's yeah. Yeah, it's going to be like
- 1:17:56another one and done for me. Yeah,
- 1:17:58it's traumatic until I inevitably make us talk
- 1:18:00about it on the show. Yeah,
- 1:18:02that's. So they are they're doing the
- 1:18:05garage. Hill scene here. It's
- 1:18:06not Tatum this time. It's just like a random girl
- 1:18:08going in there to get beer. But
- 1:18:10she's also I'm mad that they well, here's the
- 1:18:13thing. It as tiny as Rose McGowan
- 1:18:17is. She's still a whole ass human
- 1:18:19and the garage doors should not have been able to lift
- 1:18:21her up. Yeah, we all question. I
- 1:18:25wonder, did they like rationalize that by having
- 1:18:27it be like she got shocked at the other something? I
- 1:18:29think so. I think that's what they
- 1:18:31tried to say. I mean, and garage doors are
- 1:18:33dangerous. Those springs are like an actual
- 1:18:35like projectile that can kill people. I
- 1:18:38do. I do love her though. She
- 1:18:40was like, please don't kill me. I'm
- 1:18:42just a day player. Yeah. OK, so Cindy's wasted and
- 1:18:48Bobby arrives and she wants to take Bobby upstairs so
- 1:18:51they can finally have sex. I
- 1:18:52we noticed this for the first time watching this on
- 1:18:55Friday. The way Cindy's eyes were
- 1:18:58moving after they have sex, like they're just like side
- 1:19:02to side. Yeah, they're just like reading a
- 1:19:04story. Like it's it's almost unnerving.
- 1:19:08Like it feels unnatural. Well,
- 1:19:10they also call out like Bobby's like, yeah, we got
- 1:19:12the whole movie crew here and they like break the
- 1:19:14fourth wall and show like everybody in the scene. I
- 1:19:17do think about that sometimes whenever I think
- 1:19:19about sex scenes, like I'm like, God damn, that's got
- 1:19:22to be the worst. I am. I
- 1:19:25am happy that intimacy coordinators are a thing
- 1:19:27now, but it is appalling that that's such a recent
- 1:19:31thing and that I had to come after a lot of nasty
- 1:19:35shit. And Jordy and his group are
- 1:19:38smoking and Ghostface droids in and also starts smoking
- 1:19:42and this is where we get the mimics electronic sound
- 1:19:45that Harrell's killers experience. I
- 1:19:48love the scene of them where they're like prank
- 1:19:51calling together. Like they're both doing the
- 1:19:53calls. Yeah. It's so funny. Yeah,
- 1:19:56they all start doing like freestyle rapping and
- 1:19:58Ghostface gets really into it. Hold
- 1:20:00on, Steve. How much of that do you know?
- 1:20:02Can you recite most of that?
- 1:20:03I've got a slash and gash
- 1:20:04cutting another hole in your ass. I
- 1:20:06still blurt on the wall and play tennis with your
- 1:20:08balls. With the phone rings, don't
- 1:20:09answer that call. You're going to slit your throat
- 1:20:11like a goat. Fill your full skin on and make
- 1:20:14a winner coat. Peace. You. That
- 1:20:21was the illest rhyme I ever see in someone. After
- 1:20:26he looks around and sees all the dead bodies
- 1:20:28surrounding him. It's so great. So
- 1:20:31Ghostface appears and gets a put in quotations, Bobby
- 1:20:36and then Chase Cindy downstairs. Bobby
- 1:20:40comes down the stairs falls except then when Shorty
- 1:20:44appears and so he's like shorty, we got the killers
- 1:20:47in the house. We got to go and Bobby stands
- 1:20:50up and shoots Shorty and Ray is in on it also.
- 1:20:54Yeah, he's got the voice
- 1:20:55modulator. He comes in with that. This
- 1:20:58is quite what they go into the kitchen. And
- 1:21:02this is where they're cornering her and they're
- 1:21:03explaining their whole plan. And
- 1:21:04they start talking about all of these bad horror
- 1:21:07movies. And we both got super fucking
- 1:21:10authentic. So like what was with the
- 1:21:12what was with that fat white Jamaican in the
- 1:21:15second? I know what you did last
- 1:21:17summer. And she goes, it was just bad
- 1:21:19casting, Bobby. And we both went, how dare you
- 1:21:22call Jack Black? That is. It's
- 1:21:26so good. Yeah. And I mean, it really is
- 1:21:28also I mean, yeah, it is stupid to have like. And
- 1:21:31I think the I think I still know what you did
- 1:21:34last summer kind of makes fun of the fact that he
- 1:21:36is like, you know, fake Rasta man type thing. But
- 1:21:41his Jack Black, it's not it's a bad character, not
- 1:21:44bad cast. Yeah, that's what he was given.
- 1:21:47He did great with it. I
- 1:21:49am going to ask you like I've never really put much
- 1:21:51thought into it. But like what exactly? Who
- 1:21:54who are they the killers of in this? Because
- 1:21:56we know that it's actually doofy. They
- 1:21:58killed the shot Shorty. I think they were mostly just
- 1:22:01going to kill Cindy and then run away together. I
- 1:22:04guess the girl in the garage, too. Like
- 1:22:07I just never really thought about it. I
- 1:22:08was like, you know what? Yeah,
- 1:22:09he just was saying that it's a lack of sex that
- 1:22:11drove him crazy. And he ended up experimenting
- 1:22:15around and figured out he was gay. And
- 1:22:17so he's going to they're just taking advantage of
- 1:22:20the existing killer to kill Cindy and they just
- 1:22:22straight up did the subtext and screen. Yeah.
- 1:22:25Yeah. We're we're making the subtext
- 1:22:28text. So let's see where Ray Stout.
- 1:22:33They do the like the OK, just
- 1:22:35like we practiced where they're going to like stab
- 1:22:37each other except he goes. With
- 1:22:40a little bit. No, I also I have to give I
- 1:22:44have to give Ray his. I can't remember which one is
- 1:22:47a place in. But his his stew, mock or
- 1:22:49impression where he goes and wait, there's more.
- 1:22:52Yeah, so dead on. And
- 1:22:54he's got drool just like shooting out of his mouth.
- 1:22:56And honestly, not that much
- 1:22:58more than sweet baby Matthew. Yeah,
- 1:23:01I didn't he like caps it off. He's
- 1:23:02like, I'll be right back. He
- 1:23:05like just backs away. I do that all the time. You
- 1:23:07do. Yeah. So it's so horrible. Yeah.
- 1:23:11Yeah. So OK, yeah, because that
- 1:23:13would have been coming back. Yeah.
- 1:23:15So they're just killing their friend group then,
- 1:23:17basically. Wow, that's weird. So
- 1:23:18I like I never really actually think about this
- 1:23:21movie having multiple killers. But
- 1:23:22I guess they do, which is in theme for like the
- 1:23:25screen movie. Yeah, OK. OK.
- 1:23:27So Ray eventually does do the stabbing to body and
- 1:23:31then Ghostface appears and steps Ray and Chase is
- 1:23:35Cindy. And this is where we get like
- 1:23:36the matrix. Yeah, parody. Yeah.
- 1:23:40And then she ends up beating them and she gets
- 1:23:42her dad and the cops arrive. And
- 1:23:44then this is a Halloween moment where Ghostface is
- 1:23:48the body was out the window and then she runs
- 1:23:51out there and he's gone. I like how the dad's like,
- 1:23:54yeah, the killer. You killed a couple of people
- 1:23:55and he's sprickled drugs all over my house. So
- 1:24:00at the station, the sheriff is talking to Cindy. You
- 1:24:03know, she's confessed about the guy that they hit and
- 1:24:06ran last year. And they're like, well, no,
- 1:24:08that guy was actually dead. David
- 1:24:10Keegan, he was, you know, it's real. And
- 1:24:13then they realize that it's like a full, you know,
- 1:24:18like we talked about usual suspects, Kaiser, so
- 1:24:20Zambalmet, where they realized that it was duty
- 1:24:22the whole time. And he's running out there. He
- 1:24:25takes off, he slicks back his hair and he takes off
- 1:24:27his mustache, lights a cigarette and hops in a
- 1:24:30convertible with Gail Hale Storm. They
- 1:24:33ride off into the sunset. They
- 1:24:35run, they run her over, right? Yeah.
- 1:24:37OK, yeah. All right. Yeah.
- 1:24:38And that's how the movie ends. Oh,
- 1:24:41shorty shorty. That's right. He's
- 1:24:43he's given rules, which look sound like they're
- 1:24:45going to be for the horror movie. But
- 1:24:47then it's actually him robbing a place. That's
- 1:24:50really good. I love I feel like they
- 1:24:52definitely threw that on the last minute since scary
- 1:24:55or Scream 3 came out. Yeah.
- 1:24:57So later, OK, we got to shoot the scene real quick.
- 1:24:59That way we can cover all of
- 1:25:00them. And that's why it's like. At
- 1:25:02the end. And credits. Yeah.
- 1:25:04All right. Now that we talked about it, I
- 1:25:07still feel like eight point seven five is my correct
- 1:25:10rating for me. I'm good with nine still, too.
- 1:25:12What is that shit? Steve,
- 1:25:13as the one with the lowest. As
- 1:25:16the one with the lowest score, you've got to tell
- 1:25:18us one thing that you would change that would
- 1:25:19bump your score up. I I want I want all of our
- 1:25:23audience, if they haven't listened to our episode of
- 1:25:26Tusk, to go take a peek at that and realize that
- 1:25:28you gave that a 10 before we even had a chance to
- 1:25:31just say anything. It's in. I
- 1:25:33can't. I'm almost positive because I
- 1:25:35was like, what would you rate this out of 10?
- 1:25:36You're like, 10, 10, 10. So
- 1:25:42like lean more into like the horror part of the
- 1:25:44horror comedy. Yeah. Yeah. You
- 1:25:46know, I will say that's one of the things that I
- 1:25:48think that they did really well with Scary Movie
- 1:25:50Three, because I watched that. Like
- 1:25:52I got the Blu -ray of that whenever I was a kid. And
- 1:25:55I remember throwing it on and I was kind of afraid
- 1:25:58to watch that alone, because like some of that
- 1:26:00should actually freak me out still, because the ring
- 1:26:03is just kind of an unsettling premise anyways.
- 1:26:06And they still have like the
- 1:26:06upsetting footage, even though it's kind of like a
- 1:26:08spoof of it. I remember one thing that
- 1:26:11really freaked me out, though, was that scene with
- 1:26:13Michael Jackson when it's doing the others. I
- 1:26:17think it's one of those where he was like hiding
- 1:26:18underneath the the veil of the ghost kid. And
- 1:26:25then whenever like they fight, yeah, like his skin
- 1:26:28slips off. I'm like, what the fuck am I
- 1:26:29watching here? It's just like, yeah, I guess
- 1:26:33if they could punch up the horror, I think that that
- 1:26:35would be like a like that would definitely make it
- 1:26:37wouldn't hurt this movie in any way. I
- 1:26:39think that it would be kind of cool. All
- 1:26:40right. What did Talia think of this?
- 1:26:47Talia surprisingly was kind of
- 1:26:48sleepy during this. And that's mostly because every
- 1:26:52time there was a fart joke, we'd look at her and
- 1:26:54she was just trying to ignore us. To
- 1:26:56be fair, she's been farting a lot. She's
- 1:26:58a farty baby. So I think Talia, honestly,
- 1:27:02though, if we weren't making fun of her, I think
- 1:27:04she'd be laughing too. And she did have a couple of
- 1:27:07her little snuffle moments. So
- 1:27:09I think Talia would probably give this. Hmm.
- 1:27:14She's going to give it a seven because she hopes
- 1:27:17that there's a sequel to scary movie six that was
- 1:27:20announced. Oh, shit. Yeah,
- 1:27:21we haven't even talked about that. But
- 1:27:23yeah, they're going to be reviving scary movie
- 1:27:25cautiously after missing. Yeah,
- 1:27:27I just I just want Anna Ferris and Regina Hall back
- 1:27:30and Melissa Brera. She's really wanting to be a
- 1:27:32part of it, too. Oh, my God, that would be
- 1:27:34great. That would be great. Yeah,
- 1:27:36you could make her the Cindy or like a. Oh,
- 1:27:39my God. Dude, that would be good.
- 1:27:41Perfect. Wait, dream sequel. Hold
- 1:27:43on. We got to talk about that. We
- 1:27:44were just saying that could be our dream sequel. OK,
- 1:27:47OK. Yeah. That's I like that as a
- 1:27:49dream sequel. OK. OK. Who
- 1:27:51did Zoe think was the superior hunter in this
- 1:27:53movie? OK, the hunters in this movie.
- 1:27:59I'm going to go with Bobby
- 1:28:01because I think she respected that he did it
- 1:28:07out of frustration, which I think that she goes and
- 1:28:10hunts out of frustration that we're not feeding her
- 1:28:12enough. So she has to go find and
- 1:28:16get her own food, go hunt and gather. Are
- 1:28:19going to say that she thinks doofus, the superior
- 1:28:21hunter, because he actually is the real killer, but
- 1:28:25also she likes to beat up her own reflection in the
- 1:28:29window at night. So. Oh, man. OK.
- 1:28:34She's a she's a black cat. So
- 1:28:36whenever it gets dark outside when she walks up
- 1:28:38to the window, she like sees her reflection kind of
- 1:28:41and she starts fighting it. We're
- 1:28:44like in the living room sometimes and I just like
- 1:28:45here, like a little window taps. Yeah,
- 1:28:47we'll just like which first time you hear it, fucking
- 1:28:49terrifying. Yeah. It's like who the fuck is
- 1:28:51tapping on my window? And then you go back there and
- 1:28:52see it's just our cat fighting itself. She
- 1:28:56sometimes get because we've got a glass top stove to
- 1:29:00and she she'll sometimes get her reflection in the
- 1:29:03stove. OK, so we have our dream
- 1:29:06sequel. Yeah, we're doing a remake of
- 1:29:08the first scary movie with Melissa Barrera. Yeah,
- 1:29:11love it. Maybe they make like commentary
- 1:29:13about like the spoofing films and, you know, oh,
- 1:29:18it's not just enough to be spoofed, but you've got to
- 1:29:21be. Elevated comedy. So
- 1:29:26I feel like it would be I think it would be
- 1:29:28interesting to do the scary movies. And
- 1:29:30then instead of I know what you did last summer,
- 1:29:32do the David Gordon Green Halloween trilogy. Oh,
- 1:29:35my God. Like how they like how he
- 1:29:37pissed off so many people with like how he like did
- 1:29:41with like Michael and yeah, all that shit. And
- 1:29:43also maybe you can throw in an exorcist believer
- 1:29:45because people apparently I have not seen it, but like
- 1:29:48should have for similar reasons. I
- 1:29:50think it's just trendy to not like David Gordon Green
- 1:29:52right now. People need to watch some
- 1:29:54righteous gents at Jim's own. So
- 1:29:56yeah, yeah, it is amazing. OK,
- 1:29:59so that's our dream sequel. So
- 1:30:01tagline maybe a riff on one of the screen taglines.
- 1:30:04Someone has taken their hatred of
- 1:30:07scary movies too far. Oh, that's really good because
- 1:30:11they were actually kind of shooting on the whole
- 1:30:12thing. Yeah, that's actually good. Thank
- 1:30:14you. OK. So I think we're off to
- 1:30:18review some right? Yes. Yeah. All
- 1:30:20right. So I've got a IMDb review
- 1:30:23here. This is somebody that reviewed
- 1:30:25it shortly after release, August 11th, 2000. OK,
- 1:30:29so they gave it a one out ten. The
- 1:30:32worst movie I've ever seen is what it is titled. Oh,
- 1:30:35dear. I wasn't expecting anything
- 1:30:37Oscar caliber, nor was I expecting the great comedy
- 1:30:40or the next great comedy. I
- 1:30:43was, however, expecting to laugh and I can confidently
- 1:30:45say that I didn't laugh even once. It
- 1:30:47didn't offend me. It didn't gross me out. Scary
- 1:30:49movie was terribly unfunny, unoriginal and uninspired.
- 1:30:53At one point, Sean Wayans
- 1:30:54pretends one of his murder victims was responsible for
- 1:30:57the cancellation of his show. If
- 1:30:59that's the case, he should have been stabbing himself
- 1:31:01and his brother, Marlon, because news flash, the
- 1:31:03Wayans brothers are not funny. And
- 1:31:06Living Color was a good show until it lost its
- 1:31:08primary cast. I'm going to get you, suck. I
- 1:31:11had his moments. Don't be a man. This
- 1:31:13was forgivable. But through all of this, if
- 1:31:15you couldn't tell the yucks were stilted, you were
- 1:31:18kidding yourself. It's making tons of money, so
- 1:31:20we'll unfortunately be submitted to another Wayans
- 1:31:22tragedy in the near future. Yeah,
- 1:31:25I got a story for you, buddy. People
- 1:31:27have accused me of having no sense of humor in
- 1:31:29reference to this garbage that I'm a movie snob, et
- 1:31:32cetera. The only thing scary is the
- 1:31:34fact this drivel now passes as comedy. All
- 1:31:37right, OK, here's the thing. We've
- 1:31:40said this a lot, like we love fart jokes and dick
- 1:31:43jokes, and always will think that those are
- 1:31:45timeless, but we collectively have the humor
- 1:31:49of a 12 year old boy. That's
- 1:31:51true. So like this is a good movie
- 1:31:53for us. Not everybody has that same
- 1:31:56sense of humor, and that's fine. I'm
- 1:32:00not going to say somebody doesn't have a sense of
- 1:32:01humor if they don't find the same things funny.
- 1:32:04Yeah. So, you know, I mean, I
- 1:32:07think, Steve, I think you said this like towards the
- 1:32:09beginning, that like it has to be for the right kind
- 1:32:12of audience. You know, if you if you're
- 1:32:15looking for a certain type of humor, certain type of
- 1:32:18like horror element, this movie is not going to hit
- 1:32:21for you. Yeah. Yeah, I agree with that. I
- 1:32:24mean, yeah, it's it's just like a subjective thing,
- 1:32:26you know, like. And also, I feel like you got
- 1:32:28to like, no, like you really, I think it helps
- 1:32:31to appreciate what they're spoofing. So
- 1:32:34like, if you're also not like a horror person, like
- 1:32:37somebody that knows the screen movies, I know what
- 1:32:39you do last summer's. Probably
- 1:32:41won't land as well with you there either. Other
- 1:32:43than those, which those movies have like had legs,
- 1:32:46like some of the stuff right here isn't necessarily
- 1:32:47timeless. So I'm going to go out on a
- 1:32:49limb and say that that person probably also doesn't
- 1:32:52find SNL funny. Probably not, which like, I mean,
- 1:32:56it's, you know, it's different types of humor.
- 1:32:58It's fine. OK.
- 1:33:00On to. You almost knocked our. OK.
- 1:33:07Let's start off with this one right here. OK.
- 1:33:09I only got two from Twitter here. OK.
- 1:33:12So the Half -Price Horror Podcast, they say it's a
- 1:33:15movie that's aged like milk, full of jokes that
- 1:33:18are nothing more than men expressing horror and
- 1:33:19discuss over the existence of trans women. If
- 1:33:22you bring it over, I will kick you out of my goddamn
- 1:33:24house. This person hates this movie. I
- 1:33:26think this person is kind of the opposite of me,
- 1:33:28where like, I always mentally black out the
- 1:33:31transphobic jokes. And that seems to be the only
- 1:33:34thing they remember, which is like. That's
- 1:33:38I and that's legit. Like, there are some things that
- 1:33:40like if the movie does, like, I can't get over it
- 1:33:43and I get it. I get that. And
- 1:33:47we've talked about how unnecessary it was in the
- 1:33:50first place. I don't blame anybody for
- 1:33:52drawing the line where you see fit. Like
- 1:33:54I draw lines with movies that have like real animal
- 1:33:58deaths. Like I will tell me like that's
- 1:34:00probably like required viewing if you're a horror
- 1:34:03fan like Cannibal Holocaust, but I'm not going to watch
- 1:34:05it. Because I want to watch that. The
- 1:34:08first Friday of the 13th. True.
- 1:34:09If you want to draw the line there, too. They
- 1:34:12kill it. They killed that snake. Oh,
- 1:34:14shit, they did. I forgot about that. Well,
- 1:34:17I guess I don't have a hard line. But
- 1:34:21yeah, I think at least it's not like that's not
- 1:34:24their target to poke fun at. Like
- 1:34:27it's just like a one off thing. But
- 1:34:28I do think that also kind of lends to their point
- 1:34:31that, you know, a lot of those types of jokes in
- 1:34:34age while they didn't. Yeah,
- 1:34:36that right there. Certain things that age pretty
- 1:34:38terribly with this. Yeah, can't defend it. Not
- 1:34:40going to defend it. OK. All right. Final
- 1:34:43review. Aquile Boops. He's
- 1:34:45got another two part of force. Oh,
- 1:34:46boy. One of, if not the greatest
- 1:34:49comedy horsebooths ever created. Keenan
- 1:34:52Ivory Wayans and family define this type of comedy
- 1:34:54from the beginning with I'm going to get you. Wait,
- 1:34:58I'm going to get you suck it to the amazing in
- 1:35:00living color and all of the rest that came
- 1:35:02afterwards. This movie went there like
- 1:35:04really fucking went there from the micro penis to
- 1:35:07the insane gist scene. I forgot about the gist scene
- 1:35:10where he just like shoots her all the way up and he
- 1:35:12like drains his whole life force out of his body. So
- 1:35:17good to now in hindsight, that puffy comment about
- 1:35:20high scores at his party. Holy
- 1:35:22shit. This movie did things you
- 1:35:24probably can't do in comedies anymore. It
- 1:35:26will always be one of my favorites. Yeah,
- 1:35:29I agree. Like there are certain things
- 1:35:31that didn't necessarily age well, but there are other
- 1:35:33things that age well, too. But
- 1:35:36some things did age pretty fucking well, too. Like
- 1:35:39I really enjoy like the the dumb humor like that,
- 1:35:44like the gist scene. Like that's so great. Yeah,
- 1:35:46the horror movie like just spoofing on all of these
- 1:35:49movies. Like those movies are timeless.
- 1:35:50They're going to get played
- 1:35:51probably for a long, long time still from people. And
- 1:35:56like it's still going to be relevant in that sense.
- 1:35:58I mean, they basically did
- 1:35:59create this little subgenre of spoof movies. Like
- 1:36:02this is the first one. Like
- 1:36:05I mean, I guess I would have a naked gun was doing
- 1:36:08this. I know what she means by
- 1:36:09that. But like where they take like
- 1:36:11the whole genre and like scary movie, date movie,
- 1:36:14you know, superhero movie. Yeah,
- 1:36:16to be fair, I've never seen naked guns, so I
- 1:36:18can't really speak to that. I've
- 1:36:20watched airplane. We watched that for the first
- 1:36:21time last year and that was really good. OK,
- 1:36:24so I think that that's it for our reviews, which I
- 1:36:27think that means it's the end of the episode here.
- 1:36:31Next month is a new month, but
- 1:36:33guess what? We are inviting you back to

- 1:38:37an awesome show over there too. Yeah,
- 1:38:39it's a good time. We've been on their show a few
- 1:38:41times. It's a lot of fun. Yeah,
- 1:38:43it's always a good time. They
- 1:38:44not quite the same structure as us where they
- 1:38:48go beat by beat through the movie, but they talk
- 1:38:50about a lot of different fun things with each movie.
- 1:38:52And it's it's just a good good
- 1:38:54discussions. Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
- 1:38:56Tangents, untangents, on tangents, on
- 1:38:58tangents, on tangents. And then when you get on a
- 1:39:00tangent, you're going to have a tangent from that
- 1:39:02tangent. It's all good. It's
- 1:39:04all great. Yes. Okay, cool. All
- 1:39:07right. So that's it for this one. I
- 1:39:08will see you all next time. Bye.
- 1:39:23Dude, you know, the thing that always takes me out
- 1:39:28of those games or makes me not want to play them is
- 1:39:29like the freaky fucking like insect monsters. Like
- 1:39:32they're so giant and so disturbing looking. I
- 1:39:37have like a rectophobia. So like whenever, like,
